Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:17Speaker 1: On today's episode, we are discussing Paris is always a
- 0:20Speaker 1: good idea. Episode three Sebastian Revisited, which is now airing
- 0:26Speaker 1: on Hallmark Plus. It seems like a lot of people
- 0:29Speaker 1: in our Girls Gone Hamemark facebook groups seem to be
- 0:32Speaker 1: watching it. It does seem that way, and we're recording
- 0:35Speaker 1: this as our first two episodes went out. This is
- 0:40Speaker 1: the morning those episodes dropped, and so we haven't had
- 0:43Speaker 1: any you know, email thoughts come in yet, but we
- 0:46Speaker 1: would love to hear your thoughts on this series. Hello
- 0:51Speaker 1: at Girls Gone Hallmark dot Com. We do have one
- 0:55Speaker 1: so far.
- 0:56Speaker 2: So okay, let's read it. It's from Julie.
- 1:00Speaker 1: She says, I think Chelsea is recording her thoughts because
- 1:03Speaker 1: she's writing a book, just like what Colin's wife said.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I feel like there's a book in everybody. Oh oh interesting.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I could buy into that because even after watching episode three,
- 1:19Speaker 1: I'm like, who the heck is.
- 1:21Speaker 2: She talking to? Who are you talking to? I have
- 1:23Speaker 2: no idea.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Before we get into the details of episode three. Are
- 1:27Speaker 1: you still enjoying this series?
- 1:29Speaker 2: I am me too.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I really like it a lot.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I almost wish I could binge it.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I just wish I could binge it because I
- 1:39Speaker 1: enjoy it so much, and like I could sit down
- 1:41Speaker 1: and watch six is it six?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Episode? We're gonna get here?
- 1:44Speaker 1: I could watch six episodes of this in one day
- 1:47Speaker 1: and feel like I watched two romcom movies, you know
- 1:50Speaker 1: what I mean?
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:52Speaker 1: I agree. If you are not yet watching this series
- 1:55Speaker 1: and you're waiting because you want to do your you know,
- 1:57Speaker 1: your two week homewark plus hohoplah or whatever the case
- 2:01Speaker 1: may be, this would, I think be a great binge. Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 1: for sure, for sure. Are you ready for a synopsis
- 2:07Speaker 1: for episode three? I am Chelsea and Nightly team up
- 2:11Speaker 1: and get back to work in Paris. Meanwhile, French photographer
- 2:15Speaker 1: Sebastian re enters Chelsea's life as a reminder for these
- 2:20Speaker 1: Paris is always a good idea. Episodes, we don't do
- 2:22Speaker 1: our usual like wish did you see that?
- 2:24Speaker 2: Format.
- 2:24Speaker 1: We kind of run through the major plot points and
- 2:27Speaker 1: discuss them, not a true scene by seeing recap, but
- 2:30Speaker 1: we'll be get into everything that we see in this episode, right,
- 2:34Speaker 1: So let's start. Let's talk about Annabel Annabel love Annabel,
- 2:38Speaker 1: not enough Annabelle in this episode, not enough Annabelle in
- 2:40Speaker 1: this episode. And I think it was an interesting choice
- 2:43Speaker 1: to leave Annabel behind. She's sticking around to have her
- 2:46Speaker 1: date with Declan, which I actually story wise, I kind
- 2:49Speaker 1: of like that they didn't just make her forget about
- 2:53Speaker 1: this little budding romance that she has. But she's so
- 2:58Speaker 1: good on screen and I miss having her be there
- 3:01Speaker 1: for Chelsea. But the other thing is being separate from Chelsea.
- 3:05Speaker 1: She does a nice job of moving the situation with
- 3:07Speaker 1: her dad and Sherry forward a little bit, so I
- 3:11Speaker 1: like that a lot. I also want to call out
- 3:14Speaker 1: we talked in the first two episodes about how you
- 3:17Speaker 1: noticed like it's so sunny and away and it's not
- 3:20Speaker 1: sunny anymore. She's like, what the heck is up with
- 3:23Speaker 1: this Irish summer? It's clearly raining, She's in a jacket,
- 3:26Speaker 1: she's sitting on in this cliff. I'm sure the actress
- 3:29Speaker 1: is like, what the heck, man, You're gonna make me
- 3:30Speaker 1: sit out here in the rain and have this FaceTime call.
- 3:34Speaker 1: But we're back to truly Irish Weather.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I love that it was so different.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Than in the previous episode, and that we talked about
- 3:44Speaker 1: it in the previous episode review.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Huh.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I loved it.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I know when she's sitting there and says, like, what's
- 3:51Speaker 2: up with this? You know, Irish Summer, I was like,
- 3:53Speaker 2: oh my god, I mean it worked out perfectly. I
- 3:58Speaker 2: just thought that was so funny.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I love that she's going to stay behind and pursue
- 4:02Speaker 1: something with Declan. I like that Chelsea was encouraging that.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Well, I think there's so much to learn more about
- 4:11Speaker 1: annabel because and Chelsea even like says like, oh, you
- 4:14Speaker 1: haven't really been with anybody since don On you know
- 4:18Speaker 1: a name I didn't even catch right same, So I'm
- 4:21Speaker 1: hoping that we learn some more there. I love Annabelle.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I'm really interested in her story. Again, this is a
- 4:31Speaker 1: total departure from the book. We'll talk about some changes
- 4:34Speaker 1: from the book as well. Another departure that I want
- 4:37Speaker 1: to point out is the character of Sherry is written
- 4:41Speaker 1: very differently than she is portrayed on screen. Barbara Nivin
- 4:44Speaker 1: plays her so warmly and on screen, I think even
- 4:48Speaker 1: her dialogue is written. She's warm, she's supportive, she's not
- 4:52Speaker 1: trying to overstep. She's trying to give everyone the space
- 4:57Speaker 1: that they need to process this new relationship and to
- 4:59Speaker 1: get places.
- 5:00Speaker 2: In their own time.
- 5:01Speaker 1: And even when Annabel is talking to her dad and
- 5:04Speaker 1: Sherry and she's like, you know, you guys need to
- 5:08Speaker 1: figure this out, Sherry's like, yo, you're the dad. You
- 5:12Speaker 1: need to be the one. She's not like that daughter
- 5:14Speaker 1: of yours needs to, you know, apologize. She's just like,
- 5:17Speaker 1: you know, you're her dad, You're the one who needs
- 5:19Speaker 1: to move this forward. I love the character of Sherry
- 5:23Speaker 1: in all fairness in the book, Chelsea behaves very differently.
- 5:27Speaker 1: She's much colder, she's much more harsh on the Sherry relationship,
- 5:33Speaker 1: and so it makes sense that Sherry reacts in a
- 5:35Speaker 1: little more like cold and reserved way to her. But
- 5:38Speaker 1: of course I prefer this Barbara Niven version of Sherry,
- 5:41Speaker 1: like I don't need a villain out there.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I want this. I want this Sherry in my life.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Right And for Annabel too, isn't it so nice because
- 5:51Speaker 1: obviously like she needs this mother figure in her life,
- 5:55Speaker 1: like they're their dad's great clearly, but it does seem
- 5:58Speaker 1: like Sherry is filling a place in Annabell's life. Yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 1: and I love that for her me too. The other
- 6:06Speaker 1: thing I want to point out about this Annabelle scene.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Did you happen to pause and read the back and
- 6:10Speaker 1: forth emails from Sebastian and Chelsea.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I did not so.
- 6:14Speaker 1: In the very beginning of this scene, Annabelle is looking
- 6:18Speaker 1: at the email thread between Chelsea and Sebastian that followed
- 6:23Speaker 1: Sabashian saying like, wait, I'm in Paris.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Can we meet up?
- 6:26Speaker 1: And I had to pause and read it on screen,
- 6:28Speaker 1: and it basically lets you know. Sebastian's like, Oh, I've
- 6:31Speaker 1: been living in New York all this time, but I'm
- 6:33Speaker 1: in Paris for a shoot. And Chelsea's like, oh my gosh,
- 6:36Speaker 1: that's such a coincidence. Like Boston and New York are
- 6:38Speaker 1: so close, it's crazy. We've never like, I don't think
- 6:40Speaker 1: she says, like we've ever cross paths, but that's the implication.
- 6:44Speaker 1: They do point that out again later in the episode.
- 6:47Speaker 1: They do say like he's been living in New York.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But I like that setup on screen if you were
- 6:51Speaker 1: so inclined to pause it and read it, and the
- 6:54Speaker 1: attention to detail and adding in those back and forth emails.
- 6:57Speaker 1: The only thing I noticed about the emails is like
- 7:00Speaker 1: the subject was like regarding regarding regarding where. It's obviously
- 7:04Speaker 1: a back and forth afteryeah, back and forth a lot.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I thought it was very funny, but I didn't read
- 7:07Speaker 1: the context of those emails at all.
- 7:10Speaker 2: And that's kind of a wrap.
- 7:11Speaker 1: On Annabell as we see it.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I hope we get more animal next episode.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yes, yes, maybe Ducklin and Annabel arrive in Paris.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Maybe or Spain? Oh yeah, is that where we're going next? Spain? Okay,
- 7:24Speaker 2: let's talk Chelsea and Sebastian. Let's do it.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I love how their history unfolds at the top of
- 7:31Speaker 1: the episode.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I thought there was something so different about it because
- 7:37Speaker 1: I'm trying to it's it's definitely doesn't feel like Hallmark right.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Oh interesting because like in our Hallmark typical movies setups,
- 7:48Speaker 1: it's like kind of we land at a certain place
- 7:52Speaker 1: this particular and I'm sorry, I'm not like describing it
- 7:55Speaker 1: so well. But Chelsea and Sebastian meeting way back in
- 7:58Speaker 1: the day when she is in Parrot. Are they in
- 8:01Speaker 1: Paris though they're like outside of Paris, right correct? A
- 8:05Speaker 1: forest in France. Yeah, so she's like doing some sort
- 8:08Speaker 1: of work. He sees her like he wants to take
- 8:10Speaker 1: her picture, She's reluctant, and it just like it unfolded
- 8:14Speaker 1: so nicely. I thought it wasn't just like wham bam. Yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 1: we get way more build up in the Sebastian story
- 8:21Speaker 1: than we did in call In. Yes, that is the
- 8:23Speaker 1: point I'm trying to make. Thank you for summarizing it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I just thought it was nicely done. But I also
- 8:28Speaker 1: love and I know this is how this series series
- 8:33Speaker 1: is going, is that you know she's she's revisiting all
- 8:37Speaker 1: these like who she thought were her people and they're
- 8:41Speaker 1: really not her peopil, right, And so of course in
- 8:45Speaker 1: this one we know from the jump that like Sebastian's
- 8:49Speaker 1: not going to be her guy, though they did kind
- 8:51Speaker 1: of surprise me a little bit when we see Sebastian
- 8:56Speaker 1: at the bridal sweet door.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yes, I'm like, what is he doing?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Yes, and look we know it's not Sebastian, just because
- 9:03Speaker 1: that's not how these are set up. But when he
- 9:06Speaker 1: shows up and she's like, you're not supposed to be here,
- 9:08Speaker 1: it's giving like the groom isn't supposed to see the
- 9:11Speaker 1: bride before the wedding.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Yes, exactly.
- 9:13Speaker 1: So there was a part of me that I was like, oh,
- 9:16Speaker 1: maybe Annabelle and Sebastian end up together because I couldn't
- 9:19Speaker 1: figure out, like why would he be there?
- 9:21Speaker 2: Sure, and then we understand more later on. Of course.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I also kind of like that when they're about to
- 9:28Speaker 1: have their first kiss, he's like, wait a minute, like
- 9:31Speaker 1: this isn't going anywhere. We're both leaving, and then, of course,
- 9:34Speaker 1: you know, the relationship progresses and they do, but they
- 9:38Speaker 1: set him up as this he's protective of his own heart, right, Yeah.
- 9:43Speaker 2: And hers too a little bit.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yeah, he's like, well they set it up like they're
- 9:48Speaker 1: timing is all wrong? Yes, exactly. I do like that
- 9:51Speaker 1: we get a call back to the club dancing scene
- 9:54Speaker 1: from episode one. Another thing I'd like to point out
- 9:57Speaker 1: Lacey during this time, were's a lot of nap dresses.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Do you know what a nap dress is? No, and
- 10:04Speaker 1: google it. You'll see a million of them. I'm not
- 10:06Speaker 1: sure if it's Hillhouse specifically, Hillhouses the brand, but there's
- 10:09Speaker 1: a one hundred different versions of it made by other brands. Now,
- 10:13Speaker 1: it's a very different look than her uniform of the
- 10:16Speaker 1: present day. Yeah, so it's like a smock to top. Yes, right, okay,
- 10:22Speaker 1: floaty dress, got it?
- 10:24Speaker 2: Got it?
- 10:24Speaker 1: No?
- 10:24Speaker 2: Why is it called a nap dress? Like you take
- 10:26Speaker 2: a nap in it?
- 10:27Speaker 1: I guess that's just what Hillhouse calls them. But okay,
- 10:30Speaker 1: you don't need to spend two hundred dollars on the
- 10:31Speaker 1: Hillhouse version because every other brand has knocked it off. Yeah.
- 10:35Speaker 2: When was she wearing one on the bridge? Is the
- 10:38Speaker 2: second one when he's like photographing her?
- 10:40Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah when she he photographs
- 10:43Speaker 1: her and then in their final goodbye kiss? Yes, yes, yes,
- 10:49Speaker 1: this is really interesting because this. I liked Colin in
- 10:54Speaker 1: the last episode, right, like he comes in he's married,
- 10:57Speaker 1: like I can, I can understand that he moved on
- 11:00Speaker 1: with his life. But then we have Sebastian here, whose
- 11:03Speaker 1: like motives are kind of gross and makes me hate him. Yes,
- 11:10Speaker 1: and we don't get to those motives right away. Sebastian
- 11:13Speaker 1: does give me the ick a little bit at the
- 11:16Speaker 1: end when you realize, like all of this has been
- 11:20Speaker 1: coercion to get her to sign off on something that
- 11:22Speaker 1: he knows she has no interest in signing off on.
- 11:26Speaker 1: If we can compare this to the book. Sebastian's gross
- 11:30Speaker 1: in the book, but in a much worse way. I
- 11:34Speaker 1: mean there, and I knew Hallmark would not go there.
- 11:37Speaker 1: But basically he tries to bribe her to hook up
- 11:45Speaker 1: with his gross rich friend.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Eh.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yes, he like tries to get her drunk and so
- 11:50Speaker 1: that it's it's gross terrible. So we still get the
- 11:55Speaker 1: vibe of yes, dick, okay.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 1: So having read the book and then seeing this, I'm like, well,
- 12:04Speaker 1: not as bad as it could have been, but still
- 12:07Speaker 1: such disappointment. It's another one of those things you've built
- 12:09Speaker 1: this guy up in your head. Obviously they had a
- 12:12Speaker 1: nice time together during their month together. You come back,
- 12:14Speaker 1: you know, they have this moment they start to kiss.
- 12:16Speaker 1: She's like, wait, are you married? You in a relationship? Like,
- 12:18Speaker 1: he's free, he doesn't have the issues that Colin had.
- 12:21Speaker 1: He gives her this beautiful dress. He's successful, he's found
- 12:24Speaker 1: his dreams and then bam, all he wanted was your
- 12:27Speaker 1: signature that said that he can further his career. And
- 12:31Speaker 1: I just feel like, ugh, it just erases that last
- 12:34Speaker 1: twenty four hours that you've had with this person.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I have to pause though and wonder why did Chelsea
- 12:41Speaker 1: care so much about this photo. It was unlike she
- 12:43Speaker 1: was she looked beautiful in it, Like, why would she
- 12:46Speaker 1: care so much? I wondered the same thing, and I
- 12:49Speaker 1: don't have an answer to it. I went back and forth.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I was like, come on, Chelsea, who cares? It's just
- 12:52Speaker 1: a photo.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:53Speaker 1: But then on the other hand, I thought, well, doesn't
- 12:56Speaker 1: matter why she cares. Like she told him when he
- 12:58Speaker 1: took it, like this is just for us.
- 12:59Speaker 2: That was the deal.
- 13:00Speaker 1: And so he knew how strongly she felt about it
- 13:04Speaker 1: and that she would have to be coerced to sign
- 13:07Speaker 1: it off. And ultimately we learn at the end she
- 13:11Speaker 1: does sign it off in exchange for him photographing her
- 13:14Speaker 1: sister's wedding. Wait, that's her sister's wedding. Oh, photographing the wedding.
- 13:19Speaker 1: He's photographing the wedding, whatever wedding they're at. At the end,
- 13:21Speaker 1: I wonder her motivation, Like why did they need like
- 13:25Speaker 1: this high end photographer? Do you think, like, because okay,
- 13:29Speaker 1: if she's so upset with him when she bounces in
- 13:32Speaker 1: the red dress, like she's like no, my answer is no,
- 13:35Speaker 1: how does she later come back to Oh, we're going
- 13:38Speaker 1: to get Sebastian to photograph this wedding, and this is
- 13:41Speaker 1: how we're going to do it. Yeah, I would love that.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I don't even know if we'll ever get it, because
- 13:46Speaker 1: she just says, like I told your agent when I
- 13:48Speaker 1: signed in exchange for you photographing this wedding or whatever
- 13:51Speaker 1: it was. I would love to know those details, like
- 13:54Speaker 1: how did he get his way back in? Was it
- 13:56Speaker 1: just that the agent reached out and was like, I'm
- 13:58Speaker 1: going to try one time, and she was like, well,
- 14:01Speaker 1: maybe I could use this because it doesn't seem like
- 14:02Speaker 1: anybody in this family is hurting for money, like they
- 14:05Speaker 1: couldn't have afforded a photographer, not.
- 14:07Speaker 2: When you travel to Paris with one day's notice. But
- 14:11Speaker 2: maybe he's so good.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And well known they're like, well, this is our chance
- 14:15Speaker 1: to have Annie Leibowitz, okay photograph our wedding.
- 14:20Speaker 2: All right, you know, yeah, let's take a quick break
- 14:22Speaker 2: and we'll come right back to talk more.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Paris is always a good idea, Well why don't we
- 14:36Speaker 1: This is the perfect time to transition into talking about
- 14:38Speaker 1: Chelsea and Nightly. These are my favorite scenes in this episode.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Of course, I did think it was kind of interesting though,
- 14:46Speaker 1: because in comparison, The scenes between Chelsea and Sebastian, to me,
- 14:52Speaker 1: feels like classic Hallmark Lacey Shabert kind of tight, kind
- 14:59Speaker 1: of per right. But then when she's with Nightly, she's
- 15:04Speaker 1: looser and sarcastic and spontaneous and funnier. And that's the
- 15:10Speaker 1: Lacey that I enjoy watching. I don't like these kind
- 15:14Speaker 1: of I don't like I don't like her characters that
- 15:17Speaker 1: are too Hallmark perfect. I fully agree her with Knightley
- 15:22Speaker 1: is so fun if you feel like the character is
- 15:25Speaker 1: really letting herself go, like being herself, say the first
- 15:30Speaker 1: thing that comes to her mind without editing. I do
- 15:33Speaker 1: have to say that the first conversation they have in
- 15:36Speaker 1: this episode is over the phone, and I prefer they're
- 15:39Speaker 1: in person banter just because it's tighter. You know, when
- 15:42Speaker 1: we're recording these phone conversations, they're not actually talking to
- 15:46Speaker 1: each other and so it doesn't translate as well. But
- 15:49Speaker 1: when they're together, their banter is so good. I know
- 15:52Speaker 1: exactly what you're talking about. I know exactly the scene,
- 15:55Speaker 1: Oh thank you, I'm so glad. No, like she like
- 15:58Speaker 1: laughs to something he's yes, like, oh that feels so manufactured. Yes,
- 16:04Speaker 1: exactly exactly what you mean, because they have incredible chemistry
- 16:08Speaker 1: when they're together. Sebastian drops her off for her meeting
- 16:12Speaker 1: and Nightley says, he doesn't sound irish and he doesn't
- 16:14Speaker 1: smell like sheep.
- 16:15Speaker 2: I laughed out loud. I loved it.
- 16:18Speaker 1: And then I like that we learn more about who
- 16:20Speaker 1: Knightley is as a person, and I like their conversation
- 16:24Speaker 1: about like why everyone's doing this job, like Chelsea's doing
- 16:27Speaker 1: it because she wants to make a difference, and Knightley
- 16:30Speaker 1: is like, mom's just good at it. But then we
- 16:32Speaker 1: learn like, no, he's kind of in charge of taking
- 16:34Speaker 1: care of his sister and he needs to make good
- 16:37Speaker 1: money in order to be able to do that. And
- 16:39Speaker 1: I feel like they're trying to talk about like, hey,
- 16:41Speaker 1: there's lots of different reasons for doing a job, and
- 16:43Speaker 1: making money is a perfectly morally good reason for that,
- 16:49Speaker 1: and it lets Chelsea, you know, like him a little
- 16:51Speaker 1: bit more. He's not just this like blow hard.
- 16:53Speaker 2: At work, right right.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I felt this episode was a lot of what I
- 16:58Speaker 1: call walk and talk, very you know, heavy dialogue between
- 17:03Speaker 1: these two and and we're learning more about Nightly through
- 17:08Speaker 1: these conversations, and he's learning more about her through these conversations.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I like a dialogue heavy me too, well, because especially
- 17:18Speaker 1: with these two, because they're so good. Exactly, she's like,
- 17:21Speaker 1: I can't wear that dress. I'm a spiller just the
- 17:23Speaker 1: way she talks, and then he calls it back and
- 17:25Speaker 1: he like pushes a nap over I know you're a
- 17:28Speaker 1: spiller with her voice over of like, this is what
- 17:31Speaker 1: it feels like to be seen by something, Yeah, you know, yeah,
- 17:35Speaker 1: I love that. I love that because I think that's
- 17:37Speaker 1: ultimately what a lot of people want out of relationships
- 17:41Speaker 1: from their partners, to be seen. Right, And she's talking
- 17:44Speaker 1: about the you know, comparison between like Sebastian saw her
- 17:50Speaker 1: and thought she was beautiful and taught her to be
- 17:52Speaker 1: you know that. I don't know if he taught her
- 17:55Speaker 1: to be beautiful or whatever, but see herself that way, yes, exactly.
- 17:58Speaker 1: But Nightly sees her differently. He sees her, he sees
- 18:04Speaker 1: who the person she is.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm loving it.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I'm loving it too, and I love that we get
- 18:10Speaker 1: the revisit of when she's like, oh, now, I understand
- 18:14Speaker 1: that's why you came down so hard on me for
- 18:16Speaker 1: spending time with my dad and my sister, and he's like, yeah,
- 18:19Speaker 1: I could have been nicer, and I love him being like, yeah,
- 18:22Speaker 1: it was kind of a dick in that moment. But
- 18:24Speaker 1: she's like no, like that was the message I needed
- 18:27Speaker 1: to hear. She like, I wouldn't have mattered, Like I
- 18:28Speaker 1: needed to hear that message from you. The other thing
- 18:32Speaker 1: I love is when she arrives at the restaurant after
- 18:35Speaker 1: her terrible date with Sebastian and he like pushes his
- 18:39Speaker 1: fries over to her and he's like secret wife and
- 18:41Speaker 1: she goes worse ulterior motives. I just loved it. I
- 18:44Speaker 1: just they get each other.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Do you think they would ever do a
- 18:49Speaker 2: season two on this? That's a great question. Maybe. Yeah,
- 18:53Speaker 2: I don't know what the story is. Yeah, I don't either,
- 18:55Speaker 2: But you just.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Want more of these two, yeah, because you know how
- 18:58Speaker 1: you just fall in love with.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Like certain care. Yes, yeah, I don't know what the story.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Would be, like you said, but yeah, I could really
- 19:04Speaker 1: use a lot.
- 19:05Speaker 2: More of these two together.
- 19:08Speaker 1: This to me is the episode where Nightley's feelings are
- 19:11Speaker 1: very clear.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I mean it was it.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Was getting that way in the last episode, but it's
- 19:15Speaker 1: like the way he looks at her, not that we
- 19:17Speaker 1: didn't know this was going that way. But they've done
- 19:20Speaker 1: a really nice job of building up his emotions towards her,
- 19:24Speaker 1: yes and like breaking down her walls when it comes
- 19:26Speaker 1: to him. Like, I don't think she's in until she
- 19:29Speaker 1: walked into that restaurant and like her whole face changed
- 19:32Speaker 1: when she saw him. I think she was like, oh shit,
- 19:36Speaker 1: what am I doing?
- 19:37Speaker 2: Like he's right here? Anything else about Nightly?
- 19:42Speaker 1: No?
- 19:42Speaker 2: I just I need more. I need more.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I was driving my daughter and a friend somewhere the
- 19:47Speaker 1: other day and her friend was like, oh, I'm watching
- 19:48Speaker 1: Greek and I was like, oh oh, I'm like I
- 19:51Speaker 1: love Greek.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I'm like I love Kapy and she's like, I love
- 19:53Speaker 2: Cappy too. Oh my gosh, do I need to watch Greek?
- 19:57Speaker 1: Well, I'm I'm kind of on a rewatch if it
- 20:00Speaker 1: holds up. It's four seasons because it's their four years
- 20:03Speaker 1: of college.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Uh huh. I loved it. Spencer Grammar is in it.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Maybe I need to just maybe this needs to be
- 20:11Speaker 2: my throat on.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I kind of have been looking for like a lighthearted show.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I might have to revisit it. Okay, should we do
- 20:17Speaker 1: Greek Girls?
- 20:20Speaker 2: Girl's Gone Greek? Just kidding, just kidding. Maybe I'm not though.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Talk to me in twenty twenty seven January twenty twenties. Okay,
- 20:29Speaker 1: Greek girls coming to a podcast feed near you.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Maybe let's talk about Chelsea's dad. I like him so much,
- 20:36Speaker 2: he do.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I can't fault this man. He really god, he's really
- 20:42Speaker 1: there for his kids. And you know, when she's like
- 20:45Speaker 1: asking him, like how do you just She's to ask
- 20:49Speaker 1: something about like trusting them, you know, because Annabelle's just
- 20:52Speaker 1: off in Ireland with some dude and she's Chelsea's running
- 20:57Speaker 1: around Europe. He's like, you know, I trust that you
- 21:00Speaker 1: guys are going to make the best decisions or whatever.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I just like him a lot. I like that.
- 21:05Speaker 1: This conversation turns on its head a little bit. He
- 21:07Speaker 1: calls because he's going to be the one to reach
- 21:09Speaker 1: out because Sherry had pushed him. But ultimately Chelsea is like, look,
- 21:14Speaker 1: you haven't done anything wrong. I owe you an apology
- 21:16Speaker 1: for my reaction. And she doesn't go so far as
- 21:20Speaker 1: to say like I accept Sherry and can I call
- 21:22Speaker 1: her mom? Right? But she's very clear that she wants
- 21:26Speaker 1: him to be happy, and she says, you don't need
- 21:29Speaker 1: my blessing like it's not my choice, like I want
- 21:32Speaker 1: you to make the best decision for you.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Just it was such a nice father daughter moment. Yeah, totally.
- 21:38Speaker 1: And I appreciate that Chelsea was mature enough to be like,
- 21:42Speaker 1: you know, she wants her dad to be happy. Yes, yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 1: And I think obviously her revisiting all of these past
- 21:49Speaker 1: loves is pointing out to her like that's not so
- 21:52Speaker 1: easy to find, right, Like finding the person that is
- 21:56Speaker 1: the right match for you is something special.
- 21:59Speaker 2: So yay, I love it. Anything else, I don't think so.
- 22:03Speaker 2: I'm just enjoying the series. I hope other people are too.
- 22:07Speaker 2: I'm really curious.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Please email us let us know your thoughts on this series.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I did see some people saying like, oh, I couldn't
- 22:14Speaker 1: even watch it, and I was like, oh, I got
- 22:17Speaker 1: to click out of here, like this is not I'm
- 22:19Speaker 1: not doing this. If I were the author, I would
- 22:23Speaker 1: be very happy with Hallmark's take on my book. You
- 22:26Speaker 1: had to know they're not going to include an almost
- 22:32Speaker 1: sexual assault situation, they're not going to include pole dancing.
- 22:35Speaker 1: But I think they're being very true to the story
- 22:38Speaker 1: she was trying to tell. So that's where I'm landing.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Thank you for listening to this episode of Girls Gone Hallmark.
