- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sorority Life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia, Judice.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Fessler.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Hi, guys, welcome back to Dirty Rush. I am your host,
- 0:14Speaker 3: Jen Fessler, and today we are mixing things up, so
- 0:18Speaker 3: instead of chatting with recent grads, I've got a group
- 0:21Speaker 3: of women who are a little further down the road
- 0:23Speaker 3: from their sorority days. We are bringing in Judy and Janet. Hi, ladies, Hi,
- 0:29Speaker 3: thank you so much for joining us.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Jennifer U here, thank you so well.
- 0:35Speaker 3: First, guys, tell me where you went to school and
- 0:38Speaker 3: what sorority you were in.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Judy, I University of Southern California and we were in
- 0:45Speaker 4: Delta Camma, got it? Okay, great?
- 0:47Speaker 3: And I know you graduated different years. Janet, when did
- 0:51Speaker 3: you graduate?
- 0:52Speaker 2: I graduated in nineteen eighty eight, okay?
- 0:55Speaker 4: And Judy ninety one.
- 0:57Speaker 5: Okay.
- 0:57Speaker 3: I graduated right in the middle nineteen ninety not that it.
- 1:01Speaker 3: And Annett, have you did you move straight to Vegas
- 1:04Speaker 3: after graduation? No?
- 1:05Speaker 1: Actually, I wanted to be in fashion, so I moved
- 1:08Speaker 1: straight to New York City and I was.
- 1:10Speaker 2: There probably for fifteen.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Years until I married my husband and we moved back
- 1:14Speaker 1: to West La got it, and then we moved to Vegas.
- 1:18Speaker 2: For my husband's job, like ten years later, nights later.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, okay, So listen, guys, We're going to talk
- 1:26Speaker 3: about what it's like those friendships that you know, we
- 1:29Speaker 3: form in sorties, and you know, if those friendships stay
- 1:33Speaker 3: with you for life. I think, in my case a
- 1:37Speaker 3: lot of them. Did I want to know about you
- 1:38Speaker 3: guys though, tell me about the women in DG. Were
- 1:43Speaker 3: they just college friends or do you have a lot
- 1:45Speaker 3: of sisters that you're still in touch with and that
- 1:49Speaker 3: are your closest friends?
- 1:50Speaker 5: Janet tell me a little.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Well, a kind of funny thing I think in our
- 1:53Speaker 1: generation is we Firstly, I loved my experience as a DG.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I lived in the house the whole time. It was
- 1:58Speaker 2: the best.
- 1:59Speaker 1: But then we didn't have social media like now, so
- 2:02Speaker 1: it was very hard to keep in touch. When I
- 2:04Speaker 1: moved to New York, I didn't know about you, Judy,
- 2:06Speaker 1: but there was only you know, that was very odd
- 2:09Speaker 1: at the time because most people stayed in California and
- 2:11Speaker 1: we couldn't really stay in touch with our sorority sisters
- 2:15Speaker 1: because like, no one was there maybe two people would
- 2:17Speaker 1: move to d C or something, so you kind of
- 2:19Speaker 1: see people.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Going in and out.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But I did an event for USC a couple of
- 2:24Speaker 1: years ago at our house here in Las Vegas, and
- 2:26Speaker 1: I was thinking about the most like significant things that
- 2:30Speaker 1: have happened in my life. And the funny thing is
- 2:33Speaker 1: that so many of them have been brought about by
- 2:37Speaker 1: my soberarity sisters. So like, for instance, my husband, who
- 2:40Speaker 1: I'm madly in love with. She I was living in
- 2:42Speaker 1: New York. Her husband worked at Morgan Stanley with my husband,
- 2:46Speaker 1: and when I was coming home to visit my family,
- 2:48Speaker 1: she fixed us up and we fell in love, and
- 2:50Speaker 1: I moved back and then, you know, there's just been
- 2:53Speaker 1: so many instances like that. Our you know, best friends
- 2:56Speaker 1: would move years later and we'd come to New York
- 2:59Speaker 1: and then we all become best friends again, and I
- 3:02Speaker 1: think the bonds are just so so special, and yeah,
- 3:07Speaker 1: so it's just been great.
- 3:09Speaker 3: You bring up an interesting point because I graduated ut
- 3:13Speaker 3: North Texas in nineteen ninety, so, right, we didn't even
- 3:17Speaker 3: have cell phones, right, Oh, No, it was such It
- 3:19Speaker 3: was such a different time, and it was if you
- 3:21Speaker 3: wanted to stay in touch, you were making a It
- 3:24Speaker 3: used to be called youngin's a long distance phone call, right,
- 3:28Speaker 3: or you wrote something called a letter. But I remember
- 3:32Speaker 3: that feeling because I moved straight from Texas to New
- 3:35Speaker 3: York City.
- 3:36Speaker 5: I remember feeling that that loss.
- 3:39Speaker 3: You know, just awsome these sisters because they are really
- 3:42Speaker 3: none of my None of my AFI sisters moved to
- 3:46Speaker 3: New York. So I was the ones for my pledge class.
- 3:49Speaker 6: What about you, Judy, Yeah, I had a little kind
- 3:52Speaker 6: of a mixed experience. When I first graduated, I moved
- 3:55Speaker 6: to DC. My boyfriend at the time, he was in
- 4:00Speaker 6: med school and I moved. I was a polyside major communication,
- 4:04Speaker 6: so I wanted to move DC. It just kind of
- 4:06Speaker 6: worked out. So I moved into a row house with
- 4:09Speaker 6: about four other sorty sisters, so I kind of continue.
- 4:12Speaker 6: But they were older than me, so that went to
- 4:15Speaker 6: row house.
- 4:16Speaker 4: So in washingt d C.
- 4:17Speaker 6: Their houses are in Rose in Georgetown, I guess I
- 4:20Speaker 6: just called it.
- 4:21Speaker 4: So the houses are like almost.
- 4:23Speaker 6: Sheer walls, so you're really close with your neighbors, and
- 4:25Speaker 6: there's lots of them. They're beautiful, sort of collegey.
- 4:29Speaker 4: It's not no.
- 4:30Speaker 6: I had a senator across the street, a lobbyist here,
- 4:33Speaker 6: but they were one person in these homes.
- 4:35Speaker 4: There was six of us, six geirls.
- 4:37Speaker 6: I shared a room with another girl in a bathroom
- 4:39Speaker 6: because you were used to. I literally was just like, Oh,
- 4:42Speaker 6: that's no big deal. I don't think I could do
- 4:43Speaker 6: it today. So I lived with my sorty sisters for
- 4:46Speaker 6: a few years, all different schools. Some of them were
- 4:50Speaker 6: DG's at different schools, and uh, we're a different ages.
- 4:54Speaker 4: One was at the Pentagon, but Taylor was at the Taylor.
- 4:59Speaker 6: Yeah, she was roommate. She had the biggest room that
- 5:01Speaker 6: she had, the whole top floor. Obviously she was so
- 5:05Speaker 6: it still kind of worked like this already help. And
- 5:07Speaker 6: then once I got married and moved to New Orleans,
- 5:10Speaker 6: That's when I really felt the shift and didn't have
- 5:13Speaker 6: as much contact with my girlfriends. Once I got married
- 5:16Speaker 6: and was living not in California, and I remember being
- 5:19Speaker 6: devastated that I.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Could not afford to fly to my friend Amy's. I'm
- 5:23Speaker 4: going to cry still. She asked me to be in
- 5:26Speaker 4: her wedding.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I know, I'm so sad, so sad.
- 5:29Speaker 6: What it is you get married, you have no money,
- 5:31Speaker 6: you know, you spend all your wedding.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I know, but the back that you would actually be
- 5:35Speaker 2: brought to tears By.
- 5:36Speaker 4: That is so you Yeah, I still think about it.
- 5:38Speaker 6: I was like, so sad I couldn't be there to
- 5:41Speaker 6: be in your best girlfriend's wedding. It only happens once, hopefully,
- 5:46Speaker 6: No it does. It speaks also those bonds, those you know,
- 5:49Speaker 6: sisterly bonds.
- 5:50Speaker 5: But okay, go on, I'm sorry.
- 5:52Speaker 6: No, that was pretty much it. So that's been my experience.
- 5:54Speaker 6: And then I have stayed. I really tried. I think
- 5:57Speaker 6: probably a little more than my girlfriends have because they
- 5:59Speaker 6: all still live in California together, So I think I
- 6:02Speaker 6: make a little more effort to try to bring us
- 6:04Speaker 6: together because I'm sort of in Vegas. There's not as
- 6:07Speaker 6: many girls that left California, right my sorty.
- 6:11Speaker 4: So I sort of started.
- 6:12Speaker 6: A text group and then I just recently joined the
- 6:14Speaker 6: fifty one Pledge sisters text group that was started, and
- 6:18Speaker 6: that's been really fun. We all kind of share our
- 6:20Speaker 6: little businesses or little you know, celebrations of our kids.
- 6:24Speaker 6: So that's been nice. And oddly I just found out
- 6:26Speaker 6: Facebook Messenger. I had like a hundred messages. I never
- 6:28Speaker 6: saw about these reunions that I missed. I was always
- 6:31Speaker 6: like seeing photos. I'm like, oh, shoot, I wish I
- 6:33Speaker 6: knew about that. Well, apparently there was messages.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Social media is sometimes they.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Like, I think it's junk mail. That wasn't right.
- 6:41Speaker 6: Yeah, so I would say, you know, it's been hard.
- 6:44Speaker 6: It is really hard to keep in touch. And there
- 6:47Speaker 6: are some girls that when we pledged with we never
- 6:49Speaker 6: saw them again.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Right down, Oh for sure.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Yeah, you really have to make an effort.
- 6:53Speaker 1: But it is cute gity like when you say that,
- 6:55Speaker 1: because I lost touch with a lot and you probably
- 6:58Speaker 1: saw a couple of my the SORTI sisters that we
- 7:00Speaker 1: have a good holiday party. Yes, yes I did, but
- 7:05Speaker 1: further on that I hadn't really kept in touch with everyone.
- 7:08Speaker 2: You're right with the reunions.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I never went to any because we travel, like all
- 7:11Speaker 1: of you know, travel, and we couldn't do them. And
- 7:14Speaker 1: so this year we're all turning sixty. Now Gendie's younger
- 7:18Speaker 1: than I am, so we're all turning sixty. So I
- 7:19Speaker 1: said to my couple of girlfriends who have you know,
- 7:21Speaker 1: very still very close with, They said, come down to
- 7:23Speaker 1: our house in Newport, let's celebrate our sixtieth. And so
- 7:26Speaker 1: my girlfriend put it out to the whole group text
- 7:29Speaker 1: because we're all turning sixty this year, and now like
- 7:31Speaker 1: forty people, like almost our whole pledge class is coming
- 7:35Speaker 1: down and they all got a hotel rooms.
- 7:37Speaker 3: I want to come.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I know you're someone you don't want to be sixty,
- 7:41Speaker 1: you guys. So that's that's the downer of it, right
- 7:45Speaker 1: around the corner.
- 7:46Speaker 2: But it's cute. But it was cute. You know. See
- 7:48Speaker 2: everyone was so excited to see each other.
- 7:51Speaker 3: You have a whole agenda, do you have, like you know,
- 7:54Speaker 3: just the schedule and like things, I mean, are there
- 7:57Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Oh, totally, Like I'm doing one big dinner at my
- 8:00Speaker 1: house one night and then you know Tammy Tucker remember her.
- 8:02Speaker 2: GD Yeah, totally.
- 8:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I ran into her like some ski
- 8:07Speaker 6: place Deer Valley or.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so it's gonna it's gonna be a blast.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah it'll be.
- 8:12Speaker 1: But I'm just you know, it's been how everyone wants
- 8:14Speaker 1: to see each other, and you know, it's like your
- 8:17Speaker 1: time has passed.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Ye gets referring to me seeing her friends. She shouldn't
- 8:21Speaker 4: go last minute. I don't know if you I'm sure
- 8:23Speaker 4: you're familiar with page of page danim.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Am I I amare hanging over y.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Page was my big sister.
- 8:33Speaker 6: She was a DJ, and I asked her to be
- 8:35Speaker 6: on here today and she had plans, but she definitely
- 8:38Speaker 6: would love to be on.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Did she have a discount code she gave you for
- 8:42Speaker 2: us or you.
- 8:43Speaker 6: Know, she did do a discount code for Nathan Allison
- 8:46Speaker 6: Hospice is a luncheon that she agreed to be kind
- 8:49Speaker 6: of saved us as the fashion house because I do
- 8:52Speaker 6: not mean it for us.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Oh no, no, no, no, of course not no.
- 8:55Speaker 6: But she was so sweet. She did a discount code
- 8:57Speaker 6: for the DG's that day and as she did a
- 9:01Speaker 6: pop up, it was really cool to kind of bring
- 9:04Speaker 6: her back.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Yeah, so you guys feel like there's something different in
- 9:09Speaker 3: terms of because you know now that we are we're
- 9:12Speaker 3: all around sixty Janet, but like versus your sorority reunions,
- 9:19Speaker 3: Like I'm very close with I have three best friends
- 9:22Speaker 3: from high school and so we see each other. I
- 9:25Speaker 3: went to high school in Houston, Texas, so we see
- 9:27Speaker 3: each other once a year.
- 9:29Speaker 4: My friends.
- 9:30Speaker 3: My friend has this amazing house on the Chesapeake and yeah,
- 9:35Speaker 3: it's it's really really fun in Maryland. So yeah, but
- 9:40Speaker 3: there's four of us, you know, there's a lot of
- 9:41Speaker 3: sorority sisters, and it's a different type of closeness of Yes,
- 9:46Speaker 3: we had so much fun in a five in college.
- 9:49Speaker 3: High school is such a different time. It was a
- 9:51Speaker 3: time of kind of struggles. I mean college too, you
- 9:54Speaker 3: trying to you're figuring out who you are, yes, right,
- 9:56Speaker 3: but just different different parts of in terms of growing up.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Are your high school friends you feel like you have
- 10:02Speaker 3: those same types of relationships different the same?
- 10:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I still have a few high school friends. Probably not.
- 10:10Speaker 6: I don't keep in touch with them. I try, but
- 10:14Speaker 6: they none of them really stayed in California.
- 10:18Speaker 4: A lot of them left. Yeah, makes it a little harder.
- 10:22Speaker 6: I do try to keep in touch with them, for sure,
- 10:24Speaker 6: the ones over there, but probably not as much as
- 10:28Speaker 6: I think.
- 10:28Speaker 4: I'm a little more closer, but it's hard to say.
- 10:30Speaker 4: It's different. It's a different type of closest. Yeah, they
- 10:33Speaker 4: knew me when I was a lot younger.
- 10:35Speaker 6: I have a few friends from high school that I
- 10:36Speaker 6: went to college with and we're my storty that I
- 10:38Speaker 6: keep in touch with.
- 10:39Speaker 4: So that's cool. That really goes deep, right, Yeah, what.
- 10:42Speaker 2: About your bearing it?
- 10:43Speaker 1: That's I to be honest, that's I have you know,
- 10:46Speaker 1: GD knows one of our girlfriends who lives in New
- 10:48Speaker 1: York City, Donie Bomber. But other than that, and she
- 10:51Speaker 1: was my little sister when she she pledged also, and
- 10:54Speaker 1: that I think is my only high school friend.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I would have loved.
- 10:57Speaker 4: You guys went to high school together, You and Donna.
- 10:59Speaker 2: We've known each other since a grade. Yeah, where did
- 11:01Speaker 2: you guys go high school?
- 11:02Speaker 4: I didn't know that.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Glendale, lamorous Glendell High School.
- 11:07Speaker 4: That is amazing.
- 11:08Speaker 2: But yeah, it's so much fun. But I think honest
- 11:11Speaker 2: to be you know, honest back then, right you weren't.
- 11:13Speaker 1: It was hard to keep in touch because everyone was
- 11:16Speaker 1: a different universe, you know, schools that they didn't go
- 11:18Speaker 1: to your school, and you.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Know, and you moved and I moved to New York, so.
- 11:23Speaker 4: You have to make that plan every year right there.
- 11:25Speaker 1: And then also in the Storty day, you think we're
- 11:26Speaker 1: so close, especially the girls that live like I lived
- 11:29Speaker 1: always in the Storty. I loved it, And I just
- 11:32Speaker 1: feel like you're so close because you're living together. Yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 1: all the funny stories people with their boyfriends coming home.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I mean, it's just like, you know, it's a wild,
- 11:39Speaker 1: free time and you just really know the real them.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's true.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I agree any of your sorority friendships outlasted other relationships,
- 12:05Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean, listen, marriage is in this
- 12:08Speaker 3: day and age come and go, or maybe even family.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Really there have you found that some of the sorority
- 12:14Speaker 3: relationships have lasted longer than other ones?
- 12:17Speaker 5: Other relationships in your life.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Have a EGV for sure?
- 12:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:21Speaker 6: I mean I've had some friends that I've sort of
- 12:25Speaker 6: fallen out of touch with that I was very close
- 12:28Speaker 6: when I was younger that I thought I wouldn't fall
- 12:30Speaker 6: out of touch with, but I continue to stay in
- 12:32Speaker 6: touch with.
- 12:34Speaker 4: And it's I want to say, it.
- 12:35Speaker 6: Might just be that time period in my life that
- 12:38Speaker 6: I've stayed in touch with. I mean, I do think
- 12:40Speaker 6: the sorority does add that extra bond. But I also
- 12:44Speaker 6: have friends that I've made in college at USC that
- 12:47Speaker 6: weren't necessarily in my sorority that I definitely have kept
- 12:50Speaker 6: in touch with. But there is something about authority that
- 12:53Speaker 6: does cause your brain. I think it's just that sort
- 12:57Speaker 6: of time in your life. Your brain is still developing, right,
- 13:00Speaker 6: You can't help but have this sort of neat relationship
- 13:07Speaker 6: during that time of your life and also with families
- 13:10Speaker 6: of my story sisters. I'm really of parents, just the person.
- 13:16Speaker 6: It's really like like I'll never forget when I went
- 13:19Speaker 6: to my first DG event when I pledged, and it
- 13:22Speaker 6: was like a dad daughter football game, and my dad
- 13:24Speaker 6: showed up and my girlfriend Allison was there with her
- 13:27Speaker 6: dad Dawn, who recently just passed away sadly, and they
- 13:30Speaker 6: were so happy to see each other because they were
- 13:32Speaker 6: real estate buddies. And my friend Elf and I had
- 13:34Speaker 6: no idea and it was just and my dad went
- 13:37Speaker 6: TUSC so he was like super excited and that was
- 13:40Speaker 6: just like made my experience and that sort of so
- 13:43Speaker 6: like much better that my knew other people, and like
- 13:47Speaker 6: every time we'd get together, it was just like this
- 13:49Speaker 6: big family, especially for me coming from my parents were
- 13:53Speaker 6: born in the twenties, so my dad was like one
- 13:54Speaker 6: of the first people. I was the youngest of six,
- 13:56Speaker 6: so he was one of the first people to go
- 13:58Speaker 6: to USC place all that kind of stuff. So it
- 14:02Speaker 6: was pretty cool that he meets somebody on his age.
- 14:04Speaker 5: You know, Yeah, that's very cool.
- 14:06Speaker 4: We'll state it. So, yeah, it was a pretty cool story.
- 14:08Speaker 3: So yeah, Janet, do you feel like friendships that you
- 14:11Speaker 3: make now are different. Every friendship is different, obviously, but
- 14:16Speaker 3: do you think it's harder to connect now or you know,
- 14:20Speaker 3: are the forms the form that friendship takes now? Definitely,
- 14:24Speaker 3: of course it's going to be different the form it
- 14:26Speaker 3: took when you were in when you're eighteen nineteen or whatever.
- 14:29Speaker 3: But do you think it was easier to get closer
- 14:32Speaker 3: to be have former sisterly bond than than it is now? Oh?
- 14:36Speaker 2: One d percent? Right?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Because A you don't have the other influences, like you know,
- 14:41Speaker 1: when you are married and have a family, they come
- 14:44Speaker 1: from when you're making a girlfriend.
- 14:45Speaker 2: You know, it's not you don't have the time, but
- 14:48Speaker 2: I think also just the fun. You know, it's very
- 14:51Speaker 2: such a care free time and you just have like
- 14:54Speaker 2: funny things happen, right, I mean, you're going to all
- 14:56Speaker 2: these fun exchanges and something like funny thing happens and.
- 14:59Speaker 1: You get fixed out, you know you do duty wouldn't
- 15:01Speaker 1: you wouldn't you know, you'd get fixed up where they
- 15:03Speaker 1: you wouldn't even know the person you're going with. You
- 15:05Speaker 1: totally that you got right to go to parties like
- 15:08Speaker 1: you're going and it's just all those hilarious things happen
- 15:12Speaker 1: all the time, and so then you have all that
- 15:14Speaker 1: you know, fun mutual those fun mutual memories that you
- 15:18Speaker 1: don't have. It's just a different time later in your life.
- 15:20Speaker 1: And then living together, of course, you know it's hysterical.
- 15:24Speaker 1: You're all sharing the bathroom. Back then, we only had
- 15:27Speaker 1: one phone in the hall, so it's like someone will
- 15:29Speaker 1: be on with their boyfriend.
- 15:30Speaker 2: You'd be like lined up, you know. I mean, everyone's
- 15:32Speaker 2: wanting Oh my right, you have the housetone. I think
- 15:36Speaker 2: house fund.
- 15:37Speaker 4: I got a phone in our room, but it was
- 15:39Speaker 4: like a voicemail, and.
- 15:40Speaker 2: You had a right and a boyfriend would leave.
- 15:42Speaker 6: My boyfriend my husband now, he would leave like the
- 15:44Speaker 6: longest voicemails, and it was just hilarious because everybody in
- 15:48Speaker 6: the room, we'd all listen to him screening.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Give me love. That's so cute. I love that, I do.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I think, and I think when time passes too, you
- 15:59Speaker 1: really are to see your friends and about hear about
- 16:03Speaker 1: their life or maybe someone that you worked with.
- 16:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I went on to work with a lot of
- 16:07Speaker 6: my stors. Oh yeah, when I moved to d C
- 16:10Speaker 6: to LA It's Hurtle, Mariana death Terios.
- 16:14Speaker 4: All of them were working at Team one ever. Yeah,
- 16:17Speaker 4: So Sue.
- 16:18Speaker 6: Helped me get an interview, and it was a blast
- 16:21Speaker 6: because we worked together.
- 16:22Speaker 4: So a lot of us in the storty.
- 16:24Speaker 6: We would apply for jobs on the campus and often
- 16:28Speaker 6: it was you know, working events before the football games
- 16:31Speaker 6: for alumni. Huh, whatever they needed us to do. I
- 16:35Speaker 6: forgot what were called we were called some kind of ambassadorship.
- 16:39Speaker 6: So it started. Then we started working together, me and
- 16:41Speaker 6: my studies, so it was natural that we would continue
- 16:44Speaker 6: working together and get paid, which was Yeah. So we
- 16:48Speaker 6: kind of already knew how each other worked and trusted
- 16:51Speaker 6: each other because we had already sort of worked in
- 16:53Speaker 6: an environment together and so without even knowing, it was
- 16:56Speaker 6: just an easy like when you needed a little hookup,
- 16:59Speaker 6: you trusted that that person you're for it's going to
- 17:02Speaker 6: do a good job because you were on whatever we
- 17:04Speaker 6: called it the board or what do we call our
- 17:06Speaker 6: officer positions.
- 17:08Speaker 4: On the board?
- 17:09Speaker 2: I think it was the board? Yeah, the board? Okay, yeah,
- 17:12Speaker 2: thank y'all.
- 17:13Speaker 6: I'm sure I don't know, Jennifer, if you know, like
- 17:14Speaker 6: you to get a good room in the storty, you
- 17:18Speaker 6: had to earn points, right, do you know?
- 17:21Speaker 3: This?
- 17:21Speaker 5: The way it did a lottery but go on.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Oh, you're so lucky. We had to work for it.
- 17:26Speaker 5: We had to.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Yeah, you know so many points. If you were like
- 17:29Speaker 4: the president or vice president.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Or the sledge trainer rush chairman. Yeah wow.
- 17:36Speaker 6: So you'd want to kind of negotiate who your roommate
- 17:40Speaker 6: was to get a good room. You want to be
- 17:42Speaker 6: with someone that also is involved, otherwise that person's going
- 17:45Speaker 6: to pull you down. I did okay the first year,
- 17:48Speaker 6: but the next year, I don't know. I don't think
- 17:49Speaker 6: I held an officer position. So I kind of pulled
- 17:51Speaker 6: my group down. So we got put on the third
- 17:54Speaker 6: level for Allison, and we got a roommate who we loved.
- 17:57Speaker 6: But it was and it wasn't very cool because it's
- 18:00Speaker 6: like very you know.
- 18:02Speaker 2: It was caught up there. Oh yeah, I was up there.
- 18:04Speaker 2: That can happen too. I think it's so.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Interesting because I feel like if you get a request
- 18:09Speaker 3: from a sorority sister, like let's say, my you know,
- 18:13Speaker 3: my kid, Jennifer, my kid is trying to break into
- 18:16Speaker 3: for me. I don't know podcasting or television or whatever
- 18:19Speaker 3: it is, but there's something about that, like that request
- 18:23Speaker 3: if it's coming from one of yours.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Oh for sure, right, because it definitely folds weight.
- 18:28Speaker 4: It does.
- 18:28Speaker 6: I always am hesitant to even ask friends like that,
- 18:31Speaker 6: Like I always am hesitant to ask Page anything because
- 18:34Speaker 6: I know in her heart she wants to do it,
- 18:36Speaker 6: and I don't want her to push herself, you know how.
- 18:38Speaker 6: It's like I just worry about even doing those asks
- 18:41Speaker 6: because I know that's how people feel.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Right, right, right, right right, Okay, So just tell me this.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Do you feel like you can I know what the
- 18:50Speaker 3: answer is gonna be, but I'm gonna ask it anyway,
- 18:52Speaker 3: especially Janet when you have this big reunion coming up,
- 18:54Speaker 3: but even when because it's it is hard to keep
- 18:56Speaker 3: in touch that you get you have a lot of sisters,
- 18:58Speaker 3: not at every school, but you know that. I'm thinking
- 19:00Speaker 3: about keeping constant contact. But do you feel like you
- 19:03Speaker 3: could just pick up immediately where you left off when
- 19:05Speaker 3: you see your sorority sisters.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I think it will be like that. I'm excited. I
- 19:09Speaker 1: think it's going to be a blast.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 1: And it's tat to hear about their life experience and
- 19:15Speaker 1: you know, like what's going on in their kids, and
- 19:17Speaker 1: you know, yeah, it's going to be so great.
- 19:19Speaker 2: I think it'll be just like we left off.
- 19:21Speaker 5: I want to come. I think it sounds like the most.
- 19:23Speaker 4: I'm totally inviting myself.
- 19:25Speaker 2: You guys are welcome. Are you kidding? Every year?
- 19:27Speaker 5: On?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yes, it would be so great.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Give me, maybe from each one of you, some advice
- 19:34Speaker 3: you have or graduate from for graduating sorority sisters on
- 19:38Speaker 3: staying in touch after college.
- 19:41Speaker 5: Judy, you know, I.
- 19:43Speaker 6: Would definitely continue just what I'm doing and set up
- 19:46Speaker 6: a tech stream I think better. So many people aren't
- 19:49Speaker 6: on social media or on different platforms, or like your
- 19:52Speaker 6: messages can go to spam. So I would just say
- 19:55Speaker 6: because I mean, honestly, my biggest advice is literally the
- 19:59Speaker 6: day of graduation and just count on. You're never going
- 20:02Speaker 6: to see some of these people again. I know that
- 20:03Speaker 6: sounds like kind of sad, but I think if you
- 20:06Speaker 6: have that in your mindset, you're going to make a
- 20:09Speaker 6: little bit more of an effort.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's great advice. It is good advice.
- 20:13Speaker 6: I mean, I can remember the party I went to graduation.
- 20:17Speaker 6: It was late and I remember I had to leave
- 20:19Speaker 6: to catch a flight. You know, you can stay all
- 20:21Speaker 6: the night because we were going somewhere, And I remember thinking.
- 20:25Speaker 4: I didn't say by this person that could.
- 20:27Speaker 6: And I do, because I'm kind of this person. I'm
- 20:29Speaker 6: always thinking about weird stuff like death and well, you know,
- 20:33Speaker 6: only have this much time to live. So I was like,
- 20:35Speaker 6: this may be the last time I see that person.
- 20:37Speaker 6: And sure enough, it was like there are people that
- 20:40Speaker 6: they are just not on social media, right, they are
- 20:42Speaker 6: literally disappeared from this planet. But I know they're alive
- 20:46Speaker 6: and living, and I wonder what happened. It's just like
- 20:48Speaker 6: there's no way to get a hold of some of
- 20:50Speaker 6: these people, like they've chosen probably to not want to
- 20:52Speaker 6: be a great.
- 20:53Speaker 3: But isn't it a cool feeling like when you all
- 20:55Speaker 3: of a sudden, like you're on social media and you
- 20:58Speaker 3: have one of the I mean we Facebook, I don't know,
- 21:01Speaker 3: you know, an inwustry, but like a lot of the
- 21:02Speaker 3: I'm talking about going back aways and all of a sudden,
- 21:04Speaker 3: people you may know, and all of a sudden, like
- 21:06Speaker 3: this old sorority sister pops up and you're like, oh
- 21:08Speaker 3: my god, and then like you know.
- 21:10Speaker 6: Yeah that they've just sort of been hiding and they're like, hi,
- 21:13Speaker 6: I'm here, I've been what yea, yeah, I say, think
- 21:17Speaker 6: of that, like that might be the last time you
- 21:19Speaker 6: see that person. So really, unless you make an effort,
- 21:22Speaker 6: you may never see them again.
- 21:23Speaker 4: So what about you, Janet? Any advice?
- 21:25Speaker 1: Well, I think Gud's advice is absolutely right on. And
- 21:29Speaker 1: I would say, like, because with my work when I
- 21:31Speaker 1: lived in New York City, I would be in Europe
- 21:33Speaker 1: so often with because I was in the fashion business, right,
- 21:36Speaker 1: so I'd be in Milan or this that, And it
- 21:38Speaker 1: was what you were saying, Gudy. I miss so many
- 21:40Speaker 1: of my sorority sister's weddings because my career was like,
- 21:44Speaker 1: you know, first and look, sometimes you can't go. But
- 21:47Speaker 1: I probably could have left a day early and made
- 21:50Speaker 1: it to the wedding, but I thought, oh, there'll be
- 21:52Speaker 1: another one. You know, you're kind of inundated with all
- 21:54Speaker 1: of that throughout a time everyone's getting married. You think
- 21:57Speaker 1: it's just going to always keep happening. You know, all
- 22:00Speaker 1: these things are so special and if you can do it,
- 22:03Speaker 1: and you can really make the effort and you can
- 22:05Speaker 1: swing it somehow, you should try to because you see
- 22:08Speaker 1: everyone there and you keep the connection and there's such
- 22:10Speaker 1: special memories and it's it doesn't it's not like that
- 22:14Speaker 1: all the time, you know, because we all are in
- 22:16Speaker 1: different phases of our life and so yeah, it's just
- 22:19Speaker 1: great advice to seize the day right and appreciate it totally.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Ladies, thank you so much for joining us. I hope
