- 0:01SPEAKER_01: Okay, hello and welcome back to Whispers of Inner Power.
- 0:05SPEAKER_01: Today I'm speaking with Heather Plants,
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: a clinical herbalist and holistic stress coach and the founder of Magical Plants.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: Heather's work is centered around helping women reconnect with themselves
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: through plant medicine,
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: Nervous system supports and simple grounding practices that bring calm back
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: into everyday life.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: We have had a written interview before that.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: If you're watching this video on Substack, you can see just above.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: If you're watching it on YouTube, I will link to it in the description below.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: And today we're taking it a little bit deeper around a friendly cup of tea or coffee
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: or whatever you want.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: So make yourself Comfortable, Heather, I'm so happy that you're here.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for joining us.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, thank you so much for having me, Jessica.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: This is something I'm really looking forward to.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: We've struggled a bit to find a great time to do it, but finally we managed.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: So it's really, really great to have you here.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: So my first question for you, Heather, is how...
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: You shared in the interview how your own path,
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: how your own story of also having some health struggles brought you to doing
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: the work that you do.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Can you take us a bit back into that time and tell us more about it?
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, definitely.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: So I've always been somebody who kind of struggled with different forms of health challenges.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Things would just pop up.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: And I would go to see different doctors
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: and nobody could really figure out what was wrong with me.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: They did a whole bunch of tests,
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: but there was never any like, oh,
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: you have this certain illness or there's this certain way of getting rid of this.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And so I learned very early on,
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: I had to kind of figure out how to work on my health myself
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: because there's nobody else I could really count on.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: And this was at a really,
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: really young age, like when I was in like my, even before I was a teenager.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And at the same time, I really had a connection to the natural world.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Like I'm just a huge nature girl.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: I was always outside,
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: wandering in the woods and really felt at home the most in nature and also had
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: a deep connection to my intuition from like really early on.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: So when I put that together,
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: it really brought me to the path I'm on
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: because I started exploring like all different parts of like,
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: wellness and how to Basically support your health holistically
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: and using different things that were,
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: you know, natural based because that's all that really was working for me.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: And then at the same time, though,
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: I was trying to figure out like,
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: what is it that I'm kind of supposed to do with my life?
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Because I always felt like there was this purpose that I needed to kind of hunt down.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: So I always really dove into learning.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: That was like my biggest challenge.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Full-time job.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Like it just became everything that who I was was constantly taking classes
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: and reading books and learning about health and wellness and spirituality and all
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: the aspects of things.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And then I started struggling a lot with stress after having kids.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: And it came at the same time where I was trying to figure out my spirituality more
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: on a deeper level.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: So I knew what to share with them because I felt like,
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: okay, this is time I need to be able to provide answers to them.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: That I still struggled to know myself.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: So it went hand in hand because I was feeling a lot of anxiety,
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: dealing with a lot of heavy like panic attacks and really intense feelings.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: And again, couldn't find any solutions from the modern medical world, at least around me.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And I reached out to different people that I knew and nobody could really figure it out.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: So I ended up meeting up with an herbalist.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: And she knew right away like ways of helping me because I was developing symptoms
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: that were really weird.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Like I had a pit,
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: like a lump in my throat,
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: a sensation of a lump in my throat every time I would swallow.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: They would feel like there was something stuck there.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Well, she knew right away what it was because in Chinese medicine,
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: they call it plum pit chi,
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: which is basically a stuck energy that's like trapped there.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: And from not being able to Maybe express yourself or something is just too much to swallow.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: You develop this like form of like an energy blockage, basically.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: So after having, you know, numerous, numerous like ultrasounds, I couldn't find anything.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: But she knew right away, okay, this is most likely this energy thing.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: So I went home, I'm brewing my teas.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: And then within like a couple of days, even no more than like a week, it disappeared.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: And it was there for months.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: And it was this constant daily struggle.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: And it was just gone just like that.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, wow.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: And I fell in love with brewing teas and drinking them and working with the plants.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: And it was at that time where I connected all the pieces.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: I'm like, wait a minute.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: I'm like, this is kind of, this is my thing.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: This combines everything I've been searching for for so long and puts it all together.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: And one thing was just studying plant medicine.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: And I also connected it,
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: I think we were talking about earlier with my name and how that is my real name,
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Heather Plant.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, my path was kind of already there mapped out for me.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: I just needed to step back and take a look.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: So long story short,
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: after dealing with all the struggles I had and trying to figure out how
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: to support my own health and constantly having to do so much work to know how
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: to properly do that,
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: I realized that I need to be able to share that with other women to be able
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: to help make their journey so much easier and more bearable because a lot
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: of people deal with similar experiences,
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: especially in the modern medical world where we can feel ignored or lost in an abyss
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: to where nobody knows really how to support us.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: And luckily there is a lot of options,
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: especially in the natural healing world,
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: especially with plant medicine to really support so many symptoms
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: that we often struggle with.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: So yeah, long story short, that's kind of how it ended up being full circle.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Lovely story short, deep story.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: Kind of went a little deep in the beginning.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: But so it means that typically the kind of women that will come to you
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: to seek your support, where are they at in their lives?
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: What do they come with, if I can ask?
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, usually by the time
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: they come to me, they've tried everything.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: And that's kind of the norm when you go to,
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: by the time you go to an herbalist,
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: like you, you're like, okay, I've tried everything and nothing works.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: So now I'm going to go really try that really far out there.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: So a lot of times they feel really kind of how I did
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: where you feel like no one's been really listening to you,
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: paying attention to you, giving you the time to even explain what's going on.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: And You kind of feel really just at a loss because you don't know what you can do
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: if anything can be done to help.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: So there's a lot of emotional toll that happens by the time I usually end up meeting
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: with people.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: And then especially because I focus so much on stress and anxiety
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: because it really impacts every part of our body.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: a lot of people right now,
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: there's just so much stress and anxiety in the world in general.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: So it's Almost everybody that I first meet is dealing with that on a really deep level.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: And it's creating different symptoms that pop up in their body that
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: whether it's new things or things that they haven't dealt with in years that all of
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: a sudden pretty much triggered again.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: So when we first meet, there is that level of like, I'm not sure if this is going to work.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: I feel kind of a little bit hopeless,
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: but at the same time,
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: hopeful because it's something they haven't tried and like, maybe this will help.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: And that's a really great thing because When someone comes like that,
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: even though they feel horrible,
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: they're a lot more willing to be open to something new
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: and trying something different.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: And thankfully,
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: that's where the herbs can really support because they really shine when it comes
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: to anything stress-related because it's kind of like they're meant for these times
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: in so many ways.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: So it really helps gently ease them back into their bodies and be able to Be able
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: to feel like they have power again over their lives and their own health,
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: which is a really big challenge when you don't know what to do to feel better
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: because there's nothing worse than really feeling horribly in any way,
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: whether, you know, it's pain or emotional tolls or anything like that.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: So yeah,
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: it's very
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: disempowering as well when you don't have the answers and,
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: the traditional medicine doesn't give you answers or it's like,
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: oh, you know, It's like this.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking like even typical things like painful menstruation,
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: for instance,
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: or dealing with perimenopause or having,
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: you know, these kind of things as well, I think, for women's health.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: I know you're not specifically working for women's health,
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: but I feel that this is also, I'm probably in perimenopause.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: I'm 42.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: I'm going that way.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: I have little signs.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: I can already feel the shift,
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: but when I'm speaking about it,
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Most people around me will be like, it's just normal.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: Or it's just like, oh, really?
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: You know?
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: And you really have to speak with people who have the tools to be like,
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: okay, you can try this and that will alleviate that a bit.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: But it's really,
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: I think,
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: powerful to have someone that has answers and that can give you this power back
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: to you, like you were saying.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: When you have pain,
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: when you have emotional blockages,
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: anything, but that someone is like, there is a way.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: You're giving hope again for their life, really.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: I just got chills thinking about that because it is so true.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: And we are taught that any pain,
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: especially as women, what we feel is normal, you know, like painful periods.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: They're supposed to be painful.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: What's wrong with you questioning them?
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Why would you question them?
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Noticing that the differences in your body when you turn 40,
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: you know, like that's something that's supposed to, it does happen.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: It changes.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: It's a process, but people don't even believe that perimenopause is a thing often.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Like as you go from being regular to menopause and that's it.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: And it's like, no, there's so many changes that happen.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: And especially in women's health,
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: like I don't focus only on like women's reproductive health,
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: but it definitely is a big part in the work that I do
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: because We're very often neglected in the medical world.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: There's not a lot of even research that's done.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: I personally deal with endometriosis.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: So it's something that I've dealt with,
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: which is extremely painful and also super common for women to have.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: But actually finding answers for that.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's not talked about.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: No, not at all.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: It's really sad because it's something that's completely debilitating and has
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: so much pain and takes over someone's life and to not be able to go to find someone
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: that has answers.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: And that was a big part of also of like it.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: It wasn't early in my journey.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: That was something that occurred only more in the past seven years.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Like it showed up actually really late in my path.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: But I found because of who I am, I developed different experiences.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: So I have to learn how to then help other women be able to handle them,
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: which sucks for me,
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: but it's great that I then developed the tools to do it
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: because it's just most people don't really know how to properly support Women
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: and our needs,
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: which is really,
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: really sad,
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: especially at least where I live in the US,
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: like the healthcare is very, very lacking.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: So if you have any kind of reproductive issues,
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: you're really at a loss and it's a struggle and you have to see at least,
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: I'd say probably 10 doctors to be able to find one that might know a little bit
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: about how to support yourself.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Especially depending on where you live.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: It can be very different depending on if you live in a more rural area versus in
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: a city that you might have more options.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: And so once you started knowing,
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: feeling, having that clarity, yes, this is what I'm meant to do.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: This is what I want to do.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: These are the people I want to help.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: How did that decision to make it your business come to you?
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: Was it an easy decision or was it more process?
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: It was kind of very natural because as soon as I really dove
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: into studying plant medicine about 20 years ago now,
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: I knew from the very first class that I took that I needed to learn everything
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: about it.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: So I focused on not just how do I support myself,
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: but also how do I help other people that have these issues I'm learning about
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: that I May not have even heard of before or obviously don't experience in my body
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: because of the gender that I am.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: So I learned everything from a different lens immediately.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Like I felt like I had to just suck all of this in so that I could help people
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: that I didn't even know existed yet.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: And then it just kind of naturally happened where
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: when different people would start having different struggles
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: and they knew what I was learning about,
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: they'd be asking questions or they'd want,
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: you know, See if I could help them in any way.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: So I just started working with clients without even really intending on it.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: starting with family and friends and then drifting to,
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: you know, people that they knew.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: And it kind of just grew naturally as a practice, you know.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: And so it wasn't really a, is this what I want to do?
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Like, how do I go about doing this?
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: It kind of just happened naturally, you know, and then evolved.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Do you know someone?
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, you know,
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: and just thinking,
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: you know, thousands of years ago, the first witches, how would it work?
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: It's like this, you know, I know someone, I help my...
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: Marketing, the best kind of marketing, really.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: We talked about...
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: Being sensitive or highly sensitive, would you define yourself as a highly sensitive person?
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Definitely.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: And I mean, yes and no.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: Like I, I am very, very sensitive.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: I'm empathic.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: And, but I also don't see myself as sensitive because I don't see it as like a struggle at all.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Or as an abnormality as people try to
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: make this feel.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: It's, Yeah, it's just who I am.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: I definitely see it as like a gift rather than a challenge because it allows me to,
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: I think, be more connected intuitively and be able to help on that level.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Like when I'm working with clients,
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: I can pick up on things a lot easier of what they're dealing with,
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: what they're going through and The support that they might be needing,
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: and it's definitely helps me connect more with the plants because a lot
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: of times it's an intuitive aspect now at this point where,
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: oh yeah,
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: while I'm talking with somebody,
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: I can be like,
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: this plant,
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: it'd be a really amazing ally for you that I may not have thought of if I looked
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: at things only by,
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: textbook cases,
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: you would use this for that,
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: it's more Opens up to that spirituality side of things,
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: making it a lot easier to flow that way.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it's kind of both sides of things.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and that's also what I keep writing and sharing about,
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: because for me,
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: my deep sensitivity,
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: let's say like that,
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: it also shows up kind of in a nervous system level,
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: like I can be Easily triggered, for instance, by my senses.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: That's the first thing is like everything is easily overwhelming.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: So that's much easier for me to work from home, for instance.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: And I like to work from a cafe as well, but going in a workplace before there used to be
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: lot.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: But like, you know, I keep saying that because for me it was for a long time I just...
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: Accepted it, endured it as, oh, I have to deal with it.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: And now I'm more like, oh, it's because I'm deeply sensitive or highly sensitive.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: And I just have to adapt my world to it or express this is now I've reached my limitations.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: I'm in sensory overwhelm when there's a light that's different.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: If my son, for instance, my little son is five, it keeps touching me, touching me.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: I'm like, ah, this is another kind of thing that can be.
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: Difficult and also lots of movements.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: And yes, lots of movements, lots of colors, lots of things.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: I get overwhelmed.
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: So that's the challenging part, I feel, of being deeply sensitive.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: In business, it's challenging as well because you have to deal with rejection.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: You have to deal with uncertainty, so much uncertainty and inadequacy sometimes feeling.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: Especially,
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: I think,
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: I don't know,
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: maybe because I'm surrounding myself with great women like you,
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Heather,
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: I don't feel the same way as inadequate as I would,
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: you know, five or seven years ago.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: I started in 2017, my first business, where I felt like, you know, this is the path to success.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: This is how you have to build your business.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: And you have to be like this and do like that and speak this way.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: And all this very alpha male energy, let's go get her, go get this, do that, you know.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: And this is not me at all.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: And I think that now,
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: also because I've taken actions,
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: but the way I've chosen to do my marketing,
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: the way I choose to connect with people mostly as a priority in places like these,
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: it doesn't feel so hard anymore.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: But still, I would say this is the realm of where I would struggle with being highly sensitive.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: And at the same time,
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: just like you said,
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: it's such a superpower because you get to understand people at a much deeper level
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: because you're tuned, you're tuned to what they feel.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: I put that,
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: I'm a copywriter and a lot of what I do in copywriting,
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know how I came up with it,
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: but, you know, we have to know our audience inside out and to understand.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: What they feel like at the moment that they need something from you.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: And I just sit down and I put myself, I meditate a bit.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: I put myself in the shoe of that person, imagining her, giving her a name.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: And I just like, I am her and I journal.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: This morning I felt that and it felt this way and I feel it.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: And then it's much easier to actually write for that person because I was her
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: for 35 minutes in my journaling thing, which I don't think I'd be able to do.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Without this deep empathy and intuition, like you were saying before.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: And that's so beautiful, the thing to do.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: Like, that's a complete gift that you're giving that person by really connecting
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: with them on a deeper level like that, that most people wouldn't.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: So that's phenomenal, you know?
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: And I can completely relate to the more,
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: the harder parts of You know,
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: if the lights are too bright or if you're having to be in the alpha male world
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: and all that, I mean, I completely feel all of that aspect of things.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: And especially when you add on lenses of like whether or not you're
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: an introvert versus an extrovert,
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: you know, or,
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: and then you have astrological signs and how you,
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: you know, who you are and like, I'm a Gemini by nature.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: So I need to like,
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: it looks like I'm completely,
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: I'm neurodivergent sometimes and how I act because I'm,
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: you know, ADD brain, even though never clinically diagnosed with it.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: It's just who I am.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: You know, it's all I've ever known.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: And whatever we have that then becomes different than anybody else has looked at.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's a weakness that you have.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: There's something wrong with you because it's not whatever that norm is.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: What is really normal?
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: It's being told that there's something in how we are is wrong is completely inaccurate.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: Being sensitive like that,
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: anybody looking at it from an outside perspective who doesn't feel
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: the same way is like, yes, what's wrong with you?
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: You need to somehow improve so that you can be more like me in the rest of the world
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: where, no, this is...
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: How we are,
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: how we function,
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: maybe the world should act more like how we need it to in some way,
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: or at least our own individual world should act,
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: you know, In a way that best fits our own needs.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: So much is coming to my mind as you're saying this.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: The first thing when you say our world should at least be adequate to our own needs.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: That's why I keep saying this is one of my phrases.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: Build your business like a home in the sense that you are the one that is going
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: to create this environment for yourself.
- 21:59SPEAKER_01: You create your own rhythms.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: You create the people that you surround yourself with.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: You decide,
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: you get to decide how you're going to be visible or share your work
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: or how many hours you're going to work one-to-one with people or know one-to-one
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: or whatever.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: You get to decide.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: Let's make sure we make choices that support us as we are as people.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: Rather than, oh, this might be successful or this is what people want.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, of course,
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: we need to meet our audiences,
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: but we also need to protect ourselves and function,
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: be able to function and to feel good.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: You know, like I have a day at work.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: I felt great.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: I was nourished by my work and not like, oh, my God, finally it's over.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: This is the perfect path to burnout otherwise.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: And the other thing I wanted to react to when you say about,
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: how we were told, everyone's told the norm, that you have to become the norm.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: And I feel like this is a lot of,
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: a big part of the messages that we get, especially as teenagers, isn't it?
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: Like in high school, you know, then you have to blend in.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: And there is this, the cool and the uncool, you know, so you want to be one of the cool ones.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: Or to be as discreet as possible so the cool ones won't notice you and say that you're on call.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: This third group is like non-seen.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: I was kind of in that.
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: But I feel like you were saying in the end,
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: and maybe it's highlighted when we're in business,
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: but it's like everything that you learned to suppress When you were a teen,
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: you actually have to bring out now because it makes you you.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: It makes you unique.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: It's amazing.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: Why would you hide that you like this or you prefer that or you are an introvert or,
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: like you were saying,
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: you have this deep intuition that maybe you didn't bring so much in the past.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: Or, you know, for me, I think I was never...
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: I was really, really, I'm always introverted, but I was withdrawn, I think.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: And I wouldn't show my fun side there as well.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: And my love for writing or this kind of stuff.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: I was just like, no, you know, trying to, yeah, to survive really in that environment.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, definitely.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: And then,
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: and then you have the other side of it too,
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: where I think like,
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: When you're a business owner,
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: there is nothing that forces you to grow more than actually having,
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: like being a business owner.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: Because you're forced to kind of not just embrace the parts of you that you hid
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: from society,
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: but also embrace the parts of you that you feel are so-called flaws,
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: like if you are sensitive or not, or whatever the issue might be.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: Because it brings all that to light, you know, as you're...
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: A lot of times in the beginning you start comparing yourself
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: to other people doing similar things and you're so you're dealing
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: with imposter syndrome and then you're figuring out,
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: how can I go and fit in this male dominated form of,
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: you know, running businesses and stuff like that.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: And then usually I think you have like an epiphany where it's like,
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: wait a minute, I'm doing this for myself.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Like this is my business.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: I can run it however I want.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: And you start realizing Those,
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: you know, things that were always challenges for you in the past.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: And you have to kind of like, you're forced to work on them, whether you're ready to or not.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: Like, I think there's a level of somebody who runs a business versus doesn't.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: There's so much growth that has to happen because you have to be accepting of
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: who you are and learning the things that,
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: help you operate the best way that you can and having the environment that suits you
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: and the lifestyle and the schedule and What works best for marketing?
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: All of it becomes a part of,
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: I think,
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: your own healing journey because it brings a lot of that stuff to the surface
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: that you might have thought were flaws or things that you needed to hide.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: You all of a sudden can work through them and embrace them
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: and you've just learned more about yourself.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: I know for me, at least, that's just how it's been.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: It's a drastic difference between when I got started to now because of that.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: It's just...
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: I'm a completely different person and all those.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: So maybe,
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: 10 years ago,
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: I thought like, yeah,
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: sensitivity made it so hard because I mean,
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: I know I was there's definitely imposter syndrome where now it's more like,
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: screw it.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: This is who I am.
- 26:36SPEAKER_00: This is who I want to be.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: And, you know, it's this is what makes me.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: Unique in being able to do what I can do.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: So yeah, there's definitely multiple sides of it.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Completely agree with that.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: Of course, the self-development part of a business is like the accelerator of everything.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: And it's really a common conversation that I've had with many people
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: that completely agree with this.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: So I know we're not the only ones.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: I think it's even more the case when you are deeply attached and connected to
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: the work that you do.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: I think for me,
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: for instance,
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: I know that
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: it's like in self-development or when you do coaching or whatever,
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: the biggest reason that someone stays stuck is because the cost
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: of change is too high compared to the cost of not changing or not improving
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: or not looking in the mirror.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: But when you really, really, really, really, really,
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: really want for this thing to be your source of income,
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: to be your path and not relying on something else or whatever,
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: which is not,
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: it doesn't have to be like this from the beginning, but to me, it is a goal.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: Then there's no other way.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: It's like, this is the ultimate motivation.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: Like, of course, I'm not going to bypass anything.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: Let's do the work.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: We have to get up and do it.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: With love, with gentleness, with rhythm in a way that is, you know, sustainable.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: Because otherwise, again, you do it for a couple of years and then, and then you burn out.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: But it is the, it is the highest level of motivation.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: And, you know, so my first business was from 2017, sorry, 2027 is next year.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: I'm already.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: We already shared a new one.
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: 2017 and it was a French teaching business because my first training is being a teacher.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: So I turned that into an online business.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: And then in 2021,
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: I started coaching other teachers because they wanted to know how did I do
- 29:00SPEAKER_01: the things and I wanted to share as well.
- 29:03SPEAKER_01: So I started doing a bit of coaching there.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: That was the first iteration of this business is kind of different as well.
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: Like very different, in fact.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: And I did burn out because my son was born in 21.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: I think it was a year later that I just stopped everything and I was crying.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: I was literally so funny.
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: I was being interviewed for a summit on having an aligned and thriving business.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: And just before I was shouting at everyone in my house, like, leave me alone.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: I have to do this.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: And I was exhausted.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: You know how it is the first year after a child.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: Like, it's just crazy.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: And two businesses and I'm homeschooling crazy, crazy times.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: I teach my thing.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: It's like, this is how you have to be aligned.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: And I cry and I cry for two hours.
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: Like I cannot do this anymore.
- 29:59SPEAKER_00: And I look at my husband, like, I cannot do this anymore.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: He's like, okay.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: So I was like, no, like either we have full-time help at home or I become a stay-at-home mom.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: And for years, because that's not possible.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: And he was like, yeah, let's try that.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: I was like, really, really?
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: It's really hard for me because I'm so I was a stay at home for two, two years and a half.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: But the idea of,
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: relying on someone else and not making my own money and not expressing as well
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: that side of me that's ambitious and that wants to build things and write
- 30:37SPEAKER_01: and connect and serve, you know.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: But that was really the necessary thing to come back,
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: two years and a half later and say, OK, This is what I need to not burn out again.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: This is what I want to do and not want to do.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: And this is what I am no longer going to pretend, which is having it all together.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: I felt that there was really a gap between,
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: I'm not proud to say,
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: but I'm sharing vulnerable parts here,
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: the gap in who I was Who I thought I had to show up as,
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: you know, and then how I felt inside.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: And I had deep, deep, deep anxiety.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: And you were discussing that before, you know.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: I had such strong anxiety for the world, for my children.
- 31:27SPEAKER_01: My father was sick.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: He passed since.
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: But it was really such a horrible place to be for myself.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: I don't want to do a pity party, but it was a really hard time in my life.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: I feel like showing up on Instagram,
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: I've quit social media since,
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: but showing up on Instagram on the stories
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: and being like this entertaining person telling,
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: you know, I did all of this today and I managed that.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: And then everyone would clap and say, wow, you do so much.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: You're so productive.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: It's such a lie.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: Yes, I'm productive, but I'm miserable.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: This is not what I want to share anymore.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: It's not what, who I want to be anymore.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: And I think for me,
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: It really required to step away completely from business for two years to not try
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: to do anything, to not try to be anything and just be with myself.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: And it was very hard,
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: but very, very,
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: very healing to a point that now I'm like, I'm not compromising anything anymore.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: Like, no, it's, I, you know, this is what I do.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: This is not enough.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: Well, it's going to have to do because That's it.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: That's what I have to give.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: No, without a doubt.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: And I definitely, I have been there myself so many times.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: And especially when you have kids and you have a family and you're going in
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: so many different directions and you're wearing so many different hats,
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: just running a business in general.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: It is so much to manage and struggle.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: And I think part of that is that process of evolving as we The growth that running
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: that business teaches us is that then you get to a point
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: where you learn it's no longer about self-sacrifice all the time just to make
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: the business run because there has to be that passion and it has to feed you as much
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: as it's feeding whoever you're servicing at the same time.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: We lose that very easily because of having to do so much,
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: having to always, you know, be on the social media.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: And at the same time,
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: that balance just,
- 33:47SPEAKER_00: it's a definite challenge having that balance to where you can still show up
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: to yourself,
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: nurture yourself,
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: be able to Not always be on,
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: working 24-7 and especially when most of us work from home in some way,
- 34:02SPEAKER_00: it's like shutting it off is so hard to do when you also,
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: everything blends together,
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: family life, you know, responsibilities and work life and Yeah.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: And then there's so many different cycles I find that we go in because there's times
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: in your business where things just get really busy and,
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: hectic and other times are more,
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: they're slower, they're more time to like nourish yourself.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: But as a business owner,
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: when you're focusing on,
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: growing and money and making a living,
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: it's hard to be like, oh, I can allow myself to rest right now and step back.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: and I find like for me,
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: because I follow the seasons a lot,
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: especially in my spiritual path in the wintertime,
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: things naturally, you know, are all about going inward a bit more and resting more.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: But externally, things are very, very busy.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: Then you have all the holidays and,
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: they're supposed to be selling so much more and showing up so much more during
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: that time.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: And it's a challenge.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: But yeah,
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: I always definitely try to be like,
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: I need to rest during this time because I know if I don't,
- 35:11SPEAKER_00: I'll be burnt out definitely by the time summer happens and then I can't even enjoy
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: the beautiful season that I look forward to so much.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so there's a lot of deconditioning and deconstructing and it's endless.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: We go through the cycles,
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: I think, every time to be like, oh, at least I go through the cycles every time.
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, this is something else that I I've been powering through here,
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: but I really don't want to be powering through.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: There are some moments where you have to take opportunities because they're there,
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: and so you have to push a little bit.
- 35:46SPEAKER_01: But it has to be,
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: I think,
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: always brought back into, okay,
- 35:51SPEAKER_01: you know, I did this thing, I finished this project, and now let's slow down a bit.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's only so much we can do,
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: even if sometimes the external world makes you see or think or believe
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: that you can do it all, but you cannot.
- 36:10SPEAKER_01: And it's not necessary.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: I feel this is really in this iteration of my business.
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: I feel that the more I focus with intention on the things that nourish me
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: in my business, nourish me.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: My people around me, my world around me.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: And I actually have brought results before, the most of that.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, okay, 80% of my results are here.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: So why would I spend 80% of my time doing this, this, this, this, and this in case it works?
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: This is working.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: So this is where I should put my energy and the rest if there's time, when there's time.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: Not a priority.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: It's also our...
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: I think part of building something that's sustainable.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: And sometimes we know, if we look at the data, it's not always what we want to see.
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, yes.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: Not always.
- 37:06SPEAKER_01: This beautiful thing I built and put out there is actually bringing nothing and this thing.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: And we put so much of ourselves into the things that we create,
- 37:18SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 37:19SPEAKER_00: and I'm one that struggles immensely with that because I When I create anything new,
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: there's usually, it's more of an intuitive layer that happens.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: Like I don't plan in advance as often as I should be of exactly what I'm going
- 37:33SPEAKER_00: to be doing because I have to follow whatever I'm inspired to do in the moment.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: So I'll get some, something new will pop into my life, a new, you know, inspiration.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: Then all of a sudden it's like, oh, I need to create this and do this.
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: And I deep dive into this thing that becomes like something I practically birthed
- 37:50SPEAKER_00: because I put so much of myself into this new project.
- 37:55SPEAKER_00: And then afterwards I have to force myself to like, okay, you now need to recoup.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: And sometimes there's a process because if it didn't go out how you expected it to,
- 38:05SPEAKER_00: you know, if, um,
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: Say the sales weren't what you're hoping for,
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: something happened and then you're trying to now process like, oh,
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: I'm a failure or I didn't try enough and all the things that pop up,
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: as you kind of recalibrate after expending so much energy towards something.
- 38:25SPEAKER_00: And yeah.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: That definitely is something that happens a lot for me personally.
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: So it's a high energy and then kind of reverting back to recovering from giving
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: so much for so long.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: Which, from an outside perspective, seems kind of balanced.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: Yes, I mean, it's
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: like that, you know.
- 38:51SPEAKER_00: My husband would completely disagree.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: He would be like, yeah, you're like, what?
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: Because that's just how I work.
- 38:58SPEAKER_00: I work insane hours for a period of time because I'm like,
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: I have to create something until it's done.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: And then I step back and it's like,
- 39:06SPEAKER_00: I'll take a good couple of weeks of doing bare minimum work, you know?
- 39:12SPEAKER_00: And so to him, it's like, what are you doing?
- 39:15SPEAKER_00: There should be balance during that whole period.
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: I'm like, for me, it is.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: It's just how I operate.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's your rhythm.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: It works for you.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: It works for you.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: Completely fine.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: Just like you have a really good day where you're just so on point and you get so much done.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: And then the next day you're like,
- 39:34SPEAKER_00: I have no motivation because it's just,
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: we naturally fluctuate, you know, day by day and our cycles and everything.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: I made that joke last Saturday.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: I went to my, um, She's my yoga teacher, but she's also a physiotherapist.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: So she gives massages.
- 39:55SPEAKER_01: She works with the fascia, the nervous system.
- 39:57SPEAKER_01: It's just, I'm so grateful that she exists and that I have access to something like that.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: And I was making a joke with her.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: I was like, cause I go to yoga with her every Thursday morning.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, there's like two Jessicas.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: This is Jessica Monday to Thursday morning before I get there.
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, you know, Goal oriented.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: We need to do that.
- 40:19SPEAKER_01: What time is it?
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: The next task, you know, with the kids, the homeschooling, the working hours.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: I work six hours.
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: No, that's not even true.
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: Five hours per day for client work.
- 40:30SPEAKER_01: So I'm really good now with my time at six.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: It's over.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: It's kids time, whatever.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: But then it means I have to, you know, on the clock.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: Like otherwise, nothing's like that.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: We have to, we have to.
- 40:42SPEAKER_01: Pushing my daughter for her homework,
- 40:44SPEAKER_01: pushing my son to whatever,
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: you know, let's go, it's time for dinner, no, we don't have time.
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: And then I go to yoga.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: And then I'm like, whatever.
- 40:54SPEAKER_01: It's fine.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: I don't want to do my homework.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, well, just take a break.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: It's like, okay.
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: Two different people.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: And she said that I should go twice a
- 41:04SPEAKER_00: week.
- 41:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that sounds like a really good idea.
- 41:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 41:13SPEAKER_01: Okay, Heather, thank you so much for this lovely conversation.
- 41:17SPEAKER_01: It's been really, really great talking with you.
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: And is there something else you'd want to share with us,
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: where to find you,
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: where to take maybe first steps if someone feels maybe disconnected from their body
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: or they are experiencing pain and they want to know more about your world?
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sure.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: Definitely.
- 41:40SPEAKER_00: Like I said, my business is Magical Plants.
- 41:41SPEAKER_00: You can find me on themagicalplants.com.
- 41:44SPEAKER_00: I have a lot of different resources on there.
- 41:46SPEAKER_00: That's the easiest way to just find me, just go to my website.
- 41:50SPEAKER_00: And then when it comes to really just,
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: when you feel that disconnect and you're trying to find a place to start,
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: I always like to recommend that people just take a moment to just Try to listen
- 42:01SPEAKER_00: to what their body is saying.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: Maybe even put your hand on your heart and just take a couple breaths with your body
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: and just trying to tap into What it is that you're currently feeling
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: and experiencing within your body and is if there's any,
- 42:17SPEAKER_00: because basically whatever you feel,
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: they're just messages that your body's often trying to tell you
- 42:23SPEAKER_00: because it ultimately wants to just find a way to have balance.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: And the symptoms that we experience,
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: whether it's,
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: it doesn't matter what it is,
- 42:32SPEAKER_00: whether it's pain or any kind of struggles,
- 42:34SPEAKER_00: it's some kind of message that we're being sent.
- 42:38SPEAKER_00: But we're normally taught to get rid of the symptoms, get rid of whatever is going on.
- 42:43SPEAKER_00: It's only something bad.
- 42:44SPEAKER_00: Where in reality,
- 42:45SPEAKER_00: it's like, no,
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: there's something hidden going on that your body wants you to tap into
- 42:51SPEAKER_00: and provide support to.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: So I always like to recommend people just starting there,
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: just to see if you can pick up on any clues of the messages it's sending.
- 43:01SPEAKER_00: And it can be very And it really helps quiet down emotions.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: And allows the process often to begin of finding the next step on how to support yourself.
- 43:28SPEAKER_00: So it's a simple way to just to start the process.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: Well, simple but powerful.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for sharing that.
- 43:36SPEAKER_01: It sounds really good.
- 43:39SPEAKER_01: Really good to try.
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: I want to try it.
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much, Heather.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: Have a beautiful rest of your day.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: I'll pop all the information in the description below so everyone can...
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: Can find you and well speak soon.
- 43:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:54SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 43:54SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
