- 0:33Speaker 1: Passport to Love series for June, Villa Amore, which originally

- 1:09Speaker 2: I didn't know anything about this, did you until I
- 1:10Speaker 2: saw it in Facebook today.

- 1:52Speaker 1: don't get confused.
- 1:53Speaker 2: We are not actually Hallmark correct sending you one newsletter
- 1:57Speaker 2: which we got a funny email.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We'll ask when we're gonna put some more Tyler Hines
- 2:03Speaker 1: movies on. Yeah, but good question. I don't know. You
- 2:08Speaker 1: know a side note you posted several weeks, maybe a month.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I don't remember a while back, a funny where's Tyler
- 2:15Speaker 1: Hines image on Instagram? Uh huh. People got real defensive.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I know they did.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know what's funny is in my notes
- 2:23Speaker 2: I just wrote I have a I have a plan
- 2:27Speaker 2: brewing it for a new one.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Oh, I can't wait. I can't wait because I just
- 2:32Speaker 1: thought it was funny. Like he was all over the
- 2:34Speaker 1: network at the end of the year, we haven't seen him.
- 2:36Speaker 1: We're not like Tyler doesn't deserver break, and people were like, oh, yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 1: it's good that he's taking some time away, and I
- 2:43Speaker 1: just was like, calm down, we're really cool with him.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Take your time, Tyler, totally yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I thought you were maybe referencing the dms we got
- 2:53Speaker 2: about why we didn't make one for other.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Actors on the network. Oh yeah, you can't win, You
- 2:59Speaker 1: can't win. Nope, you can't. The other day, I got
- 3:02Speaker 1: mad all over again about the way some people behaved
- 3:05Speaker 1: during our count on a Christmas bracket this year. Oh
- 3:08Speaker 1: my god, yes, go ahead. I mean people created fake accounts
- 3:14Speaker 1: in order to vote. People got very upset with us
- 3:17Speaker 1: that the way the votes went. People and followed us
- 3:20Speaker 1: when their actor's movie wasn't winning. I just got refired
- 3:25Speaker 1: up about it. I just thought, making a fake account
- 3:28Speaker 1: to vote in a absolutely no stakes Instagram contest is
- 3:34Speaker 1: a very wild choice of use of time. Is this
- 3:37Speaker 1: the same? Didn't we get threatened to be sued? That's different.
- 3:41Speaker 1: That's different. That was the way home related When we
- 3:44Speaker 1: did a completely innocuous poll, Team Thomas or Team Elliott
- 3:49Speaker 1: and someone I don't know who, but one side paid
- 3:54Speaker 1: for bots to come to vote to make the other
- 3:57Speaker 1: side look bad and when we posted about it, suggesting
- 4:01Speaker 1: that the system had been gained, people then threatened to
- 4:04Speaker 1: sue us. That's right, that's right. You just can't win,
- 4:08Speaker 1: you know.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Back to the bracket, I was, it's so funny you
- 4:11Speaker 2: bring this up, because I was just thinking about this
- 4:13Speaker 2: over the weekend, and I was like, yeah, that's so fun.
- 4:16Speaker 1: But I don't know if I have it in me. Yeah,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I don't know. It got if I haven't in me.
- 4:20Speaker 1: This year fifty percent fun. People really sucked the fun
- 4:24Speaker 1: out of it this year. Like, some people love it
- 4:26Speaker 1: and they get into it, and I love it when
- 4:28Speaker 1: you're posting and sharing and rallying your fandom and your
- 4:30Speaker 1: friends for the movies that you loved and the actors, like,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I'm all in on that. But the sour grapes of
- 4:37Speaker 1: it all just just took the fun out of it
- 4:40Speaker 1: for me. I know, I know, Yeah, I don't know.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I mean, if there is a listener out here who's like, no,
- 4:47Speaker 2: you can't let it go, I volunteer his tribute and
- 4:49Speaker 2: we'll run it for you. Hey, hit us up, girls
- 4:52Speaker 2: Gone Hallmark at gmail dot com and we just don't know.
- 4:55Speaker 1: That's a volunteer position. Yes, Hey, Lttira synopsis for Villa Amore.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Leara goes to Italy and impulsively buys the villa where
- 5:03Speaker 2: her parents met. She soon learns she is way over
- 5:07Speaker 2: her head and must ask a lawyer turned handyman to
- 5:10Speaker 2: help her renovate.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Claire neededprom directed Villa Amory. Claire has eighteen previous directing projects,
- 5:17Speaker 1: including The Royal Wee from earlier this year, as well
- 5:20Speaker 1: as Savoring Paris, an American in Austin her pen pal,
- 5:23Speaker 1: and as luck would have it, hits all totally.
- 5:28Speaker 2: The teleplay is by Nick Hopkins, Tim James, and Betsy Morris.
- 5:34Speaker 2: The story credit is given to Nick Hopkins, Tim James,
- 5:38Speaker 2: Betsy Morris, and Alexander Koscus.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Joanna Garcia Swisher and Kate Gordon serve as executive producers.
- 5:45Speaker 1: We recently mentioned that both are also behind the upcoming
- 5:49Speaker 1: Hallmark series Providence Falls, which, by the way, I recently
- 5:53Speaker 1: checked out all three books from my library in hopes
- 5:56Speaker 1: of reading them prior to that series dropping. What us
- 6:00Speaker 1: that story about? It's about time travel for love, oh
- 6:04Speaker 1: basins like the eighteen maybe the eighteenth century.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I had me at time travel and then like the
- 6:10Speaker 2: eighteenth century apart comes in and I'm.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Like, my optating is they don't spend whole lot of
- 6:14Speaker 1: time there though, so excellent we shall see.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I am looking forward to that. I hope it's high
- 6:20Speaker 2: quality yummy too. Eloise Mumford stars as Leara. This movie
- 6:26Speaker 2: marks her thirtieth acting project. We last saw her in
- 6:30Speaker 2: the twenty twenty three movies.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Sweeter than Chocolate.
- 6:33Speaker 2: But our favorite Eloise Mumford movie is the Presence of Love,
- 6:38Speaker 2: coincidentally directed by Claire Nieder Pruham's husband McLean Nelson.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Look at that crossover. We didn't mention this. I do
- 6:47Speaker 1: feel like, since we're in the middle of all this
- 6:49Speaker 1: providence falls talk, I wanted to point out that Lucy
- 6:51Speaker 1: Guest is one of the directors of those movies, so
- 6:54Speaker 1: it's going to be good. Chef's Kiss. Kevin McGarry stars
- 6:58Speaker 1: as our charming lawyer turned to hand man. With forty
- 7:01Speaker 1: acting credits to his name, Kevin is best known for
- 7:03Speaker 1: his longtime role on When Calls the Heart and for
- 7:06Speaker 1: co starring in Last Years A Reason for the Season.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Fun fact just saw him on an episode of Private
- 7:12Speaker 1: Eyes from twenty sixteen. Oh Andy, Yeah, I've been watching
- 7:15Speaker 1: Private Eyes. How many epos. Have you watched four or five?
- 7:20Speaker 2: At this point, it's really scratching that Brandon Walsh itch
- 7:26Speaker 2: for me.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Jason Priestley just moves all the same. You know, I've
- 7:31Speaker 2: watched many many I have seen Beverly Hills, Ninder two
- 7:38Speaker 2: and O many many times over the years. It is
- 7:41Speaker 2: my favorite show of all time. And you know, like
- 7:46Speaker 2: Jason Priestley as an actor just has very distinctive like
- 7:50Speaker 2: mannerisms and the way he acts and whatever, and it
- 7:52Speaker 2: just has left an imprint on my brain. So like
- 7:55Speaker 2: seeing him in something else feels very familiar. And I
- 7:58Speaker 2: like it, And I guys, is a pretty good show.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna give it a try. I think
- 8:04Speaker 1: I think my husband might like it. I think so too.
- 8:07Speaker 2: And it's a little I know we didn't do a
- 8:09Speaker 2: first impression of it, but it's it's edgier in terms
- 8:13Speaker 2: of Hallmark nice.
- 8:15Speaker 1: So I think we definitely will do a first impression
- 8:17Speaker 1: of it. I think we should. I think we should.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Villa Amoor was filmed on location in Italy. Let's take
- 8:25Speaker 1: a quick break and we are gonna come right back
- 8:26Speaker 1: with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was your first
- 8:37Speaker 1: impression of Villa Amorey.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Well, Villa Amorey may sound like Cosa Amore, but there's
- 8:44Speaker 2: way less drama, way more pasta, and absolutely no one yelling.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I gotta teestxt for anybody who is not completely obsessed
- 8:54Speaker 1: with Love Island. That is a Love Island USA reference
- 8:58Speaker 1: right there. I am obsessed with Love Island, as as
- 9:02Speaker 1: my husband.
- 9:03Speaker 2: If you saw on our Instagram on Sunday, I did
- 9:07Speaker 2: this or that with Villa Amore or Casa Amoor and
- 9:10Speaker 2: there was a small fifteen percent who did choose Casa Amore,
- 9:16Speaker 2: So there's some crossover. Interesting I saw, I clicked on it,
- 9:21Speaker 2: I saw who's watching I Seeland?
- 9:24Speaker 1: Youre are people. You should be listening to our new podcast,
- 9:28Speaker 1: Last to the Party. You should, Hey, Megan went to
- 9:30Speaker 1: your first impression? Did I google one euro homes while
- 9:33Speaker 1: watching this movie as as I did?
- 9:37Speaker 2: I have some thoughts on that. We'll talk about it, Okay,
- 9:43Speaker 2: Are you thinking about moving to Italy for a one
- 9:45Speaker 2: year ro No? Reddit tells me it's a bad idea.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Really, Well, let's talk mixed. The reviews are mixed.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Well, I don't really see you as a home renovation
- 9:56Speaker 2: kind of gal either.
- 9:58Speaker 1: No, no, I'm not gonna get my hand and sturdy
- 10:00Speaker 1: kind of goal. I'm an outsource that shit kind of lady.
- 10:02Speaker 1: So I don't when we'll get into it. When it's time,
- 10:12Speaker 1: I will. We will not be the next di I wires.
- 10:17Speaker 1: It's not my vibe. Think of the social media presence
- 10:24Speaker 1: you could make doing that. It's it's very much.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Along the lines of wind calls the heart when she
- 10:31Speaker 2: like moves to a new town and has no idea
- 10:34Speaker 2: how anything works. I mean I can lean into it.
- 10:36Speaker 1: It would be great. Yeah, I mean I just need
- 10:40Speaker 1: to ditch the kids in the husband first, Like this
- 10:42Speaker 1: only works as like a single lady in a new land. No, no, no,
- 10:46Speaker 1: no no.
- 10:46Speaker 2: First of all, your kids are almost old enough to
- 10:48Speaker 2: be on their own, so just give it a couple
- 10:50Speaker 2: more years. Save your one euros. You could buy multiple places.
- 10:54Speaker 1: The second thing is take the husband with you, like,
- 10:57Speaker 1: put him to work. It could be a whole like
- 10:59Speaker 1: you guys could be a whole thing together. Uh huh.
- 11:03Speaker 1: He wants to move anyway, so this is perfect for him,
- 11:06Speaker 1: not to Italy. What is the why not? Is the question?
- 11:14Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I don't know. You would not
- 11:16Speaker 1: want to move to Italy either, because one you hate
- 11:17Speaker 1: pasta and two you hate cheese. So I don't hate
- 11:20Speaker 1: pasta and I don't hate cheese. It hates me. But
- 11:25Speaker 1: you choose not to eat pasta, don't you. I don't
- 11:29Speaker 1: love a tomato sauce. I'm sure I would love an
- 11:31Speaker 1: Italian pasta not from a jar. I'm sure that would
- 11:35Speaker 1: taste delicious. This is new news to me that you
- 11:38Speaker 1: do not like tomato sauce. It's it's not my favorite
- 11:40Speaker 1: every once in a while. But it's like, you know,
- 11:44Speaker 1: some people really find comfort in a bowl of spaghetti. Yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 1: that doesn't know.
- 11:49Speaker 2: For me, a bowlonnaise does not do it for you,
- 11:53Speaker 2: like every once in a while.
- 11:54Speaker 1: It's not a comfort food for me. Like someone ordering
- 11:57Speaker 1: spaghetti in a restaurant is real ick for me, because
- 12:02Speaker 1: to me, spaghetti is what like a food that like, Like,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I'll order a burger pretty much anywhere everywhere. I'm not
- 12:09Speaker 1: suggesting that I have high brow tastes. I love a burger,
- 12:13Speaker 1: I love a chicken tendy, let's be very clear. But
- 12:17Speaker 1: I don't love a spaghetti. I'm sad for you, but
- 12:22Speaker 1: I like other kinds of pasta. But as mentioned, it's
- 12:26Speaker 1: it's hard to like Italian food when you can't have dairy. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Okay, well let's talk about what we liked about this. Okay,
- 12:35Speaker 2: can I start?
- 12:35Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Eloise Mumford's entire wardrobe deserves its own movie credit.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Her touristy outfits were so cute, so adorable, easily some
- 12:49Speaker 1: of the best styling we've seen this year. I chef's
- 12:52Speaker 1: kiss so good. Yeah, she looks great, but she also
- 12:55Speaker 1: like looked like someone who was traveling and not like
- 12:57Speaker 1: someone with an endless closet of beautiful, travel ready instagrammable dresses.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Mmmm hmmm, Like she was like, yeah, this is what
- 13:05Speaker 1: I packed on I'm making it work well.
- 13:07Speaker 2: And I love that it was kind of even folded
- 13:09Speaker 2: into the storyline where the neighbor gives her some stuff
- 13:12Speaker 2: to war yeah, because of course she didn't pack stuff
- 13:16Speaker 2: to do home renovation.
- 13:18Speaker 1: And well yeah, and she had, like the neighbor even
- 13:22Speaker 1: included like that sweet dress, so she was able to
- 13:24Speaker 1: dress up when she went on her date. And I
- 13:26Speaker 1: love that moment where she kind of like hugs that
- 13:28Speaker 1: dress to herself, where she's like, oh, I get to
- 13:30Speaker 1: I get something new. Yeah, so I thought the wardrobe
- 13:35Speaker 1: was so good, so so good, so good? Do you
- 13:39Speaker 1: want me to continue? Sure?
- 13:41Speaker 2: Cinematography in this movie beautiful, from pastries to the rolling
- 13:47Speaker 2: hills they were shot in like this dreamy golden light.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I just thought everything looked so pretty, like top to
- 13:57Speaker 2: bottom pretty.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Mm hm.
- 13:59Speaker 2: It made me want to go Italy. I mean, good
- 14:02Speaker 2: job on Hallmark. There are passports to love. They're really
- 14:05Speaker 2: selling Barcelona and Italy to me.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Yeah, they should really be collaborating with these tourism boards.
- 14:10Speaker 1: If they're not, shouldn't they? I agree?
- 14:13Speaker 2: Good idea somebody higher, Megan, I'm gonna let you go
- 14:19Speaker 2: because I have a big list.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, a couple of mine. Look. Speaking of beauty,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I thought the setting itself was absolutely gorgeous. I loved
- 14:29Speaker 1: the transformation of the villa, and I liked that they
- 14:31Speaker 1: didn't make the transformation process overly HYJIINXY. It had its roadblocks,
- 14:37Speaker 1: it had its stumbling points, but it wasn't like we
- 14:39Speaker 1: were watching a Hallmark version of The Money Pit, which
- 14:42Speaker 1: I really liked. Speaking of natural and believable, the evolution
- 14:46Speaker 1: of the relationship between Lear and Leo was really well handled.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Totally could totally believe from the moment they met to
- 14:55Speaker 1: their continued interactions how they would start to have these
- 14:58Speaker 1: feelings for each other. And on that note, I like
- 15:03Speaker 1: that the conflict is fully based around factors that are
- 15:05Speaker 1: kind of out of her control. She doesn't live there,
- 15:08Speaker 1: she doesn't have a citizenship, she has to leave. So
- 15:11Speaker 1: there's this natural piece pulling them apart, and there's not
- 15:14Speaker 1: some sort of manufactured conflict. Yeah.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Really loved that to piggyback into the natural evolution of
- 15:23Speaker 2: Leo and Leara's relationship. I really liked and noticed and
- 15:29Speaker 2: appreciated the realistic pacing of their kisses throughout the movie.
- 15:34Speaker 2: They were intimate, you know, intimate in terms limited to
- 15:38Speaker 2: kissing that we saw, but very natural. Yeah.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I agree. And at the end of their first like date,
- 15:46Speaker 1: I almost I even rewound it. I was like, wait,
- 15:48Speaker 1: did I miss that they kiss? He kind of just
- 15:50Speaker 1: touches her face and leaves and you can tell that
- 15:53Speaker 1: like something is brewing there, but they don't kiss. Love
- 15:55Speaker 1: them Yeah, yeah, me too. I've really loved that because
- 15:58Speaker 1: I thought Kevin McGary as Leo in he there were
- 16:06Speaker 1: like these scenes like in that scene you were just
- 16:08Speaker 1: talking about where it was a slow burn, but not
- 16:14Speaker 1: slow enough that.
- 16:16Speaker 2: It was like, Okay, now we're dragging this out to
- 16:18Speaker 2: like this.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Big you know ending I just liked.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I really like that, like when he was like confirming
- 16:28Speaker 2: with her, like, oh things are over with Kyle. Okay,
- 16:32Speaker 2: does that mean now that I can have feelings for you?
- 16:35Speaker 2: Or does that mean now that I can kiss you? Like?
- 16:38Speaker 1: I just thought that was something very nice about that. Yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 1: it was just enough to let us know that they're
- 16:43Speaker 1: both aware that the other is interested.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Right right, And let me talk about Kevin McGary for
- 16:48Speaker 2: a minute. We don't see him in a ton of
- 16:50Speaker 2: stuff because we don't watch One Calls the Heart. Yeah,
- 16:53Speaker 2: and he's like sprinkled in like one maybe Christmas movie
- 16:56Speaker 2: a year if that. The last time I remember like
- 16:59Speaker 2: a huge asence was when he was in the Wedding
- 17:01Speaker 2: Bell trilogies. Yeah right, wait a minute, was he that
- 17:09Speaker 2: he was last year? He was in that hockey movie? Right,
- 17:13Speaker 2: that's two years ago. Wolf Anyway, that's what I mean,
- 17:16Speaker 2: Like he's in like one Rando Christmas movie a year.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I really liked him in this. I think he.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Is super believable that he would be this dude, this
- 17:29Speaker 2: American living in this you know, American with dual citizenship
- 17:34Speaker 2: living in this Italian countryside.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Oh, I totally I believe. I totally agree, speaking of believable.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Loved the supporting characters that they built into this movie.
- 17:45Speaker 1: The men who built her shower. I loved their bickering
- 17:48Speaker 1: and their back and forth and their joy for ultimately
- 17:51Speaker 1: building the shower of her dreams. Her neighbors Mia loved them, Enzo,
- 17:57Speaker 1: as well as Leo's grandmother, the hotel concierge. We just
- 18:00Speaker 1: had this really great cast of supporting characters who played
- 18:05Speaker 1: their roles to perfection, like they were supporting in the
- 18:09Speaker 1: best way, like we knew just enough about them.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, And I really liked that there was
- 18:17Speaker 2: a little bit of hesitation to fully embrace Leara as
- 18:22Speaker 2: this American coming to like renovate this villa, not from
- 18:27Speaker 2: like everybody, but like from like the lady at the
- 18:29Speaker 2: post office and his grandma a little bit. And you know,
- 18:35Speaker 2: that felt super realistic.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I thought.
- 18:37Speaker 2: But it didn't like lean into this like hard line of.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Like she was an enemy. Yeah, they didn't want someone
- 18:45Speaker 1: coming in and changing their way of life. They were
- 18:47Speaker 1: slow to accept her, and she earned she earned their
- 18:51Speaker 1: trust and the respector loved it right right.
- 18:54Speaker 2: One last thing, I really know. Two more things I
- 18:57Speaker 2: really liked. One moment went and Leara falls off the
- 19:03Speaker 2: ladder and he sees her right and like she's crashing
- 19:08Speaker 2: out basically, and he like swoops her up in his
- 19:11Speaker 2: arms and he's walking out towards.
- 19:13Speaker 1: The gate, kicks the gate open.
- 19:14Speaker 2: I was like, this is giving me notebook the notebook vibe.
- 19:19Speaker 2: You know, it made something.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Swell inside me.
- 19:23Speaker 2: I really really liked that scene. But what I really
- 19:26Speaker 2: liked more was with they have this whole conversation afterwards
- 19:31Speaker 2: about her struggles with panic attacks, his struggled with panic attacks,
- 19:38Speaker 2: and I was like, Okay, Hallmark, I love this is
- 19:40Speaker 2: surprisingly thoughtful and this conversation totally works.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I totally agree. I loved that breakdown scene. She's tired,
- 19:48Speaker 1: she's frustrated, she wants a hot shower, she really misses
- 19:51Speaker 1: her dad. I mean, like it all is coming bubbling out,
- 19:55Speaker 1: and I thought that, like her crying so good. It
- 19:58Speaker 1: was good. It was good.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Very last thing I really liked, and this Piggyback's off
- 20:03Speaker 2: of the last two movies we talked about. I appreciate
- 20:06Speaker 2: that we got another nod to a woman over forty
- 20:09Speaker 2: finding love. And this movie even has the line it says,
- 20:13Speaker 2: it's never too late to be swept off your feet.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I felt like this.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Was sweet, sweet reinforcement of that message that women over
- 20:21Speaker 2: a certain age can have fun and playful and find love.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Love that I have two little likes. I really appreciated
- 20:28Speaker 1: the humor that was infused into this movie, with the
- 20:30Speaker 1: hotel concierge, their rapid fire, trying to clean up her
- 20:34Speaker 1: honeymoon sweet just popping the balloons, laughed out loud. Ye.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I really appreciated when her fiance shows up and she's
- 20:45Speaker 1: not even tempted to go back to him. She walks
- 20:47Speaker 1: away with him, sends him on his way, tells him
- 20:50Speaker 1: to go pound sand. And I loved the way Leo
- 20:53Speaker 1: was like, Oh, the fiance, the one who left her
- 20:55Speaker 1: at the altar, the one who cost her dream home amazing.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Finally I loved I loved bought you the donkey? I
- 21:02Speaker 1: did too. And I didn't know donkeys look like that.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I don't think I've ever seen a donkey in.
- 21:12Speaker 1: In real life, like in person. What do you think
- 21:15Speaker 1: a donkey looks like? Gray?
- 21:18Speaker 2: Oh?
- 21:19Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I just want this one just looked like fluffy, and like, I,
- 21:25Speaker 2: there's this. I have a friend right now who is
- 21:29Speaker 2: on some sort of vacation and her and her family
- 21:32Speaker 2: went to like some sort of farm where they could
- 21:36Speaker 2: cuddle cows. And I was like, wait a minute, island cows.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I don't know a cow it was. They were brown cows.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Is that a Highland cow?
- 21:44Speaker 1: Like real long haired and fuffy looking.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I didn't look that closely, but I was like, can
- 21:51Speaker 2: I hug that donkey?
- 21:53Speaker 1: Yeah? Can I pet that dog? Yeah? Yeah?
- 21:59Speaker 2: I was into the donkey too, and I was like,
- 22:02Speaker 2: of course, why would they eighty sixth the donkey? I
- 22:05Speaker 2: think that is so charming to have this donkey on
- 22:08Speaker 2: the property. If it was an airbnb or a bed
- 22:12Speaker 2: and breakfast.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Whatever, probably a liability. But I know as soon as
- 22:15Speaker 1: she said we got an eighty six the donkey, she
- 22:17Speaker 1: was out loved it. Yeah, let's stock wishes.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Why didn't Leara take her mom to Italy in the
- 22:26Speaker 2: first place on her honeymoon? Oh yeah, that's a great question. Yeah,
- 22:34Speaker 2: I don't understand it. I mean, I do understand it,
- 22:37Speaker 2: but I think she should have said, hey, mom, do
- 22:39Speaker 2: you want to go on this trip with me.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Well, I also didn't really understand why she waited so
- 22:45Speaker 1: long to bring her mom out to the villa. I
- 22:47Speaker 1: understand Initially she was like, no, it's it's in terrible condition,
- 22:50Speaker 1: but by the time she left it was it was
- 22:53Speaker 1: in serviceable condition. She should have had her mom come
- 22:56Speaker 1: out before she was about to be booted out of
- 22:58Speaker 1: the country.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, because what if she didn't get to go
- 23:02Speaker 2: back and then.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Her mom never saw it.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yes, because and here's my next point is she purchases
- 23:10Speaker 2: the villa as a symbolic gesture for her mom, so
- 23:15Speaker 2: it would make sense that her mom would come out
- 23:17Speaker 2: and see it before she has to leave the country.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I mean, I know it makes a more impactful movie
- 23:24Speaker 1: for her to come back after everything is resolved. I
- 23:27Speaker 1: get that, like they get to close the movie on
- 23:30Speaker 1: her coming to see it, and that's great and I
- 23:31Speaker 1: love it. But I think practically, if I were the daughter,
- 23:35Speaker 1: I'd be like, you got to get out here, Like
- 23:36Speaker 1: my time is up in a week. You need to
- 23:37Speaker 1: come see it before I don't know if my residency
- 23:40Speaker 1: is coming through right, and way to make me anxious
- 23:43Speaker 1: with the countdown for I know, speaking of I don't
- 23:49Speaker 1: actually believe that ever practical. Liara wouldn't read the contract,
- 23:54Speaker 1: wouldn't find someone to read this contract, wouldn't at least
- 23:58Speaker 1: say the words to Enzo, what's the hetch Like? I
- 24:01Speaker 1: understand she's pushing back because her fiance was like, you
- 24:05Speaker 1: never do anything impulsive, and she's like, watch me. But
- 24:07Speaker 1: even then, she's smart enough to know that there's going
- 24:11Speaker 1: to be something involved with this one year o home.
- 24:13Speaker 1: There's going to be some sort of requirement.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Yes, this part strained logic a little too far from me,
- 24:22Speaker 2: even says I'm a data analyst, Like you didn't google
- 24:26Speaker 2: any details of this before just throwing everything out the
- 24:29Speaker 2: window and being like, okay, great, I own this place.
- 24:31Speaker 1: What I know? It's one thing that Enzo didn't tell her,
- 24:34Speaker 1: but it's an entirely different thing that she didn't even ask.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So I just found it very hard to believe that
- 24:40Speaker 1: she would be that impulsive, and that Kevin McGary had
- 24:44Speaker 1: to be like, oh, by the way, you got ninety
- 24:49Speaker 1: days to get started, and you got ninety days to
- 24:51Speaker 1: get the heck out of the country. Nobody's telling her
- 24:53Speaker 1: these things. Come on, Yeah, I agree.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Now, Netflix during oh when was it it was earlier
- 25:03Speaker 2: this year. Netflix has a movie called La La dolce Villa,
- 25:07Speaker 2: which is kind of based on the same scenario where
- 25:11Speaker 2: somebody buys a villa for one euro and then they
- 25:15Speaker 2: renovate it. And I'm just like, this feels like we've
- 25:19Speaker 2: done this before with this movie. I mean, it's a
- 25:24Speaker 2: different storyline because that Netflix movie is more about like
- 25:27Speaker 2: a father daughter situation with than like a romantic line
- 25:33Speaker 2: for the father. It's just funny to me about the
- 25:40Speaker 2: villa for one year, row, I need.
- 25:42Speaker 1: To know more about your own your own googling about this, well,
- 25:48Speaker 1: these do exist. According to Reddit, which is my source
- 25:52Speaker 1: for all things. Some people suggested like, well, it's kind
- 25:56Speaker 1: of a cool idea. However, you're not going to get
- 25:59Speaker 1: residency the way she did. Like they're suggesting, if you
- 26:03Speaker 1: are not a resident of the European Union, you're not
- 26:06Speaker 1: going to get Italian residency in order to continue this,
- 26:10Speaker 1: and that this particular case she happened, it was the
- 26:13Speaker 1: location was beautiful, it was in a town well small,
- 26:18Speaker 1: and the location obviously needed some renovation. The town itself
- 26:23Speaker 1: still was thriving even though it was small. They're suggesting
- 26:27Speaker 1: that a lot of these are in places where the
- 26:30Speaker 1: towns themselves are really struggling, and of course they do
- 26:33Speaker 1: it to infuse life back into the town, but sometimes
- 26:36Speaker 1: they need way more than just like we're talking places
- 26:40Speaker 1: that don't have electricity, that don't have running water, perhaps
- 26:43Speaker 1: don't have medical facilities Nearbylence, there's a reason why people
- 26:47Speaker 1: aren't living in these places, so simply revitalizing some of
- 26:51Speaker 1: the homes isn't going to be enough. And then also
- 26:54Speaker 1: we're coming at it from the perspective of an American who, like,
- 26:57Speaker 1: we can get online and order everything we need. When
- 26:59Speaker 1: you're in a small all Italian town finding the people
- 27:02Speaker 1: to do the work, finding the materials, it's a lot
- 27:05Speaker 1: more effort then it might appear.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Yeah, she really would have been up Shit's Creek if
- 27:13Speaker 2: she didn't meet Leo.
- 27:15Speaker 1: He was since he was the.
- 27:17Speaker 2: You know, the bron not really the bron, but like
- 27:20Speaker 2: the access to all of the.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Things she needed.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Ye.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Absolutely, Yeah, I only have one more wish.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Okay, I get why they do it, but man, Kyle
- 27:29Speaker 2: was the biggest douchebag ever. Yeah, you're breaking up with
- 27:35Speaker 2: your girl in like a relator's office.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I know, I just don't really believe that people like
- 27:41Speaker 1: this exist. Like the day before your wedding, as you're
- 27:43Speaker 1: signing up signing papers to buy a house, you show
- 27:45Speaker 1: up and you're like, actually, I'm going to tailand and
- 27:47Speaker 1: find myself. Are there people that are this terrible? There's
- 27:50Speaker 1: gotta be right. Yes, that's awful.
- 27:54Speaker 2: And then he shows up in Italy and he's like, hey,
- 27:56Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Now we're good to go. She's like I'm done. Yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 1: I'm glad that there wasn't even a moment's hesitation.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean I really appreciate that. We get, you know,
- 28:08Speaker 2: a Hallmark movie, but it doesn't fall victim to those
- 28:11Speaker 2: sort of old storytelling tactics. Yeah, do you have any
- 28:18Speaker 2: more wishes?
- 28:19Speaker 1: No, let's talk. Did you see that? Okay? I have
- 28:24Speaker 1: a few.
- 28:25Speaker 2: One that made me It was a scene left made
- 28:28Speaker 2: me laugh out loud when Leo's cousin tells him your
- 28:31Speaker 2: accent is still so bad? And I laughed because Kevin
- 28:35Speaker 2: McGarry had gotten He used that Boston accent in the
- 28:38Speaker 2: wedding Bell and kind of got trolled for it a
- 28:41Speaker 2: little bit.
- 28:42Speaker 1: That is absolutely my number one. Did you see that?
- 28:45Speaker 1: For real? I feel like it has to be purpose
- 28:49Speaker 1: back to his terrible Boston accent it had with my accent. Really,
- 28:52Speaker 1: that bad come on has to be. It had to be.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I thought it was very funny, very very funny. I
- 29:00Speaker 1: also love that Leo was a har Harford log rad
- 29:04Speaker 1: and I was low key hoping that was a dig
- 29:08Speaker 1: to you know, life happening around us right now. Oh interesting,
- 29:13Speaker 1: I'm sure it wasn't. I'm sure it wasn't, but I
- 29:17Speaker 1: liked it. I liked it.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Did you see when Leara was chopping carrots and she
- 29:23Speaker 2: was making a soup for her neighbor and a piece
- 29:26Speaker 2: of carrot like fully hit the floor and then Kevin
- 29:30Speaker 2: Kevin McGarry comes in and like kind of he doesn't
- 29:33Speaker 2: kick it on purpose, but like he runs into the
- 29:36Speaker 2: piece on the floor.
- 29:36Speaker 1: That's I did not. I love that. That's a true
- 29:39Speaker 1: Did you see that? Uh huh?
- 29:43Speaker 2: And I have one more and please hear me. I'm
- 29:48Speaker 2: not dogging on anybody here in this moment. But when
- 29:54Speaker 2: Kyle shows up to Italy, and it's a great scene
- 29:57Speaker 2: when Leo is kind of like letting him have it, like, oh,
- 30:01Speaker 2: this is the guy or whatever, Kevin McGarry.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Has a clear like spray on hairline. Look.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I know, makeup departments they do this. They make your
- 30:13Speaker 2: hair look fuller like believe me.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I know, I know. But the hairline looked really noticeable.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Oh but it was like a straight like you could
- 30:22Speaker 2: see like the spray.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I did not notice the spray. That is what I got.
- 30:30Speaker 1: You have anything else? Just one more? I mean we
- 30:34Speaker 1: kind of mentioned it earlier, but I appreciated they use
- 30:37Speaker 1: a very classic anxiety trick in here, counting five things
- 30:40Speaker 1: you can see. It extends to, you know, count five
- 30:44Speaker 1: things you can hear. H That is a trick I
- 30:49Speaker 1: have used myself. I loved it. I love that he
- 30:52Speaker 1: did it. I love that he passed it along to Liara.
- 30:55Speaker 1: It's a great trick. If you ever find yourself like
- 30:58Speaker 1: panicking or your anxiety spiking, just look around. It actually helps.
- 31:05Speaker 2: That in jumping jacks, y'all, I guess I'm gonna count
- 31:09Speaker 2: five things because I am not doing a jumping jack.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Anxiety talk with Megan and Wendy.
- 31:15Speaker 2: What did you rate villa amore? This is gonna seem low.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I gave it three point seven five stars.
- 31:22Speaker 1: I gave it four point two five stars.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Okay, so can we talk about it for a second
- 31:28Speaker 2: your Barcelona ratings. I liked Barcelona. I liked Barcelona more
- 31:32Speaker 2: than this movie.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Really. I like more calm and my rom com.
- 31:37Speaker 2: I thought this was this was a fine movie. It
- 31:41Speaker 2: was a good story. It was beautiful to look at.
- 31:47Speaker 2: But that's where it stops for me, Like I wasn't
- 31:49Speaker 2: like in love with it. Now, I know a lot
- 31:51Speaker 2: of people really love this movie, and that's great because
- 31:54Speaker 2: this is a movie that does something for them.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I thought it was very nice. It's just not like
- 32:02Speaker 1: my kind of movie. Gotcha. Thank you for listening to
