- 0:55Speaker 4: track by my buddy mister Reed Bargaineer also known as
- 1:01Speaker 4: Reed's Piano News. After that, we have two listeners submitted
- 1:05Speaker 4: hot tip offs that the winter. The winner of that
- 1:08Speaker 4: is going to receive some new Bear grease and this
- 1:12Speaker 4: country life merch which looks very nice by the way.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Yeah awesome, I just loved that.
- 1:18Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Followed by that, we're going to do the one minute
- 1:22Speaker 4: fishing with our friends at Trout Unlimited. And finally we
- 1:27Speaker 4: have each of us have brought a memorable item that
- 1:31Speaker 4: we're going to share for show and Tell.
- 1:33Speaker 6: Show and Tell.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Can I just say I am more excited? For that
- 1:36Speaker 2: than anything else today. Really, I so badly want to
- 1:39Speaker 2: show and tell you my story. I can't wait, can't wait.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It was one of the best things.
- 1:45Speaker 6: Be really good because expectations are sky high.
- 1:48Speaker 7: I will.
- 1:48Speaker 6: I'll tell you what expectations of minors sky high. Is
- 1:51Speaker 6: Read's song.
- 1:52Speaker 7: Yes, that will be good.
- 1:53Speaker 6: I cannot wait for Reid's song. And I'm very surprised
- 1:58Speaker 6: they didn't ask me to play live music.
- 2:00Speaker 3: I am not I'm not surprised.
- 2:03Speaker 8: I got to stick up for my bandmate over there.
- 2:05Speaker 8: I'm not going to put up now.
- 2:07Speaker 6: If me and Phil we could take the house down.
- 2:10Speaker 4: If they hadn't had Phil Podcaster, if they hadn't had
- 2:14Speaker 4: Phil playing the harmonica like a solo every week, why
- 2:17Speaker 4: would they have you up your singer.
- 2:18Speaker 6: I mean, there's got to be like a taco shell
- 2:22Speaker 6: for the taco, a bun for the hot dogs.
- 2:25Speaker 7: So you are the taco shell.
- 2:26Speaker 6: I'm the taco shell.
- 2:30Speaker 7: Yeah, a lot of directions.
- 2:32Speaker 2: We shouldn't go on this one. Let's move on.
- 2:35Speaker 4: I mean, let's tell them what kind of what we've
- 2:37Speaker 4: been doing this week. Tell them much what you were
- 2:40Speaker 4: doing with Johnny.
- 2:41Speaker 6: So yesterday we were we came to Bozeman yesterday and uh,
- 2:46Speaker 6: we were shooting guns. We're testing out several theories of
- 2:52Speaker 6: the way that guns perform. I mean, can we tell
- 2:54Speaker 6: exactly what we did?
- 2:55Speaker 3: I think we can. Yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 6: So the yesterday we tested the idea of the rush gun.
- 3:01Speaker 6: So everybody in the in the South anyway, I don't know.
- 3:05Speaker 6: Maybe out west it's not as big a deal because
- 3:06Speaker 6: there's not as much brush. But in the South there's
- 3:08Speaker 6: a lot of brush, a lot of brush. Corey and
- 3:11Speaker 6: people talk about brush guns, like a specific caliber or
- 3:15Speaker 6: bullet style that's able to shoot through brush. So we
- 3:17Speaker 6: did some some testing all day long shooting through brush.
- 3:21Speaker 4: What did you do? Oh man? I had the worst
- 3:24Speaker 4: and the best job ever. But we did a segment
- 3:29Speaker 4: on losing zero off your scope and we abused a
- 3:34Speaker 4: sea rifle and scope out there.
- 3:36Speaker 7: I love this idea.
- 3:37Speaker 3: It was sad. It was sad to do it, but
- 3:40Speaker 3: we learned a lot.
- 3:40Speaker 4: I think people are going to find it really interested,
- 3:42Speaker 4: and especially the way we finally knocked it.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Do you want to tell off zero?
- 3:48Speaker 4: You can't.
- 3:48Speaker 7: You can't give away what happened.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I'll tell you. I'll tell you.
- 3:51Speaker 6: I mean, the people that listen to meteor lives should
- 3:53Speaker 6: be rewarded.
- 3:54Speaker 4: I'm going to tell you. I want to tell you this.
- 3:56Speaker 4: I'll tell you. We dropped it, We held it. We
- 3:59Speaker 4: dropped it knee knee height. We dropped it holding it
- 4:03Speaker 4: straight out like this and I'm holding my hands for
- 4:05Speaker 4: the folks that get they're not watching us, right out
- 4:08Speaker 4: in front of me, straight out in front me, and
- 4:10Speaker 4: dropped it on the scope and then we would check
- 4:11Speaker 4: the zero. And the final thing we did involved a case,
- 4:17Speaker 4: a gun, case, case, and a truck in eighty miles
- 4:20Speaker 4: an hour. And now I'm gonna leave it at that.
- 4:22Speaker 4: You're gonna have to watch it. It is wild. Now.
- 4:26Speaker 2: What I wish you had done, which I understand you didn't,
- 4:29Speaker 2: was test my worst nightmare, which has always been getting
- 4:32Speaker 2: up into my tree stand and then somehow the gun
- 4:35Speaker 2: falling down to the ground from the top of from
- 4:37Speaker 2: twenty feet up in the tree.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 4:38Speaker 7: That would have been an interesting one to.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Say, yeah, absolutely, well, maybe we'll see give us another.
- 4:44Speaker 6: That would have been a good test. Another good test
- 4:46Speaker 6: would be to be up in the tree stand, have
- 4:49Speaker 6: your gun up there, you fall out of the tree
- 4:51Speaker 6: stand and then crawl back gone still on.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Hey, Yanni put strapped on the back on his backpack
- 4:57Speaker 4: and then fell down the hill on So it was
- 5:00Speaker 4: that worked pretty good? Yeah, no stuff man, he does
- 5:02Speaker 4: all his own stunts.
- 5:03Speaker 2: So also today we get to or I get to
- 5:09Speaker 2: judge you too, cooking immediate to roasts, which I'm very
- 5:14Speaker 2: excited about because two things are going for me on
- 5:16Speaker 2: this one. Number one, I love to eat, so I
- 5:18Speaker 2: get to eat your food. Number two, I love giving
- 5:21Speaker 2: you a hard time, especially club.
- 5:23Speaker 6: I do love giving you Mark. Mark is my best friend.
- 5:27Speaker 6: I treat him like the day you will get to that,
- 5:35Speaker 6: you will get to uh, you will get to judge
- 5:38Speaker 6: us cooking.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Yes, I will, and I will not bring up that
- 5:40Speaker 2: dead mule you try to sell your one buddy.
- 5:44Speaker 3: It's used to be best friend. Hey, Medea to roast.
- 5:48Speaker 4: The newest episode of that dropped today and it's got
- 5:51Speaker 4: Kareine Schneider and Maggie Huddler, who's the editorial chief. Korean's
- 5:55Speaker 4: obviously the the Grand Poopa of producers here and podcast producers.
- 6:01Speaker 4: And you can see that on the YouTube channel.
- 6:05Speaker 8: You've got a comment from one Alexis Reeves. She's in
- 6:08Speaker 8: the chat. She says Clay puts mushrooms in his chili.
- 6:10Speaker 8: So he's out.
- 6:11Speaker 2: He's out on.
- 6:12Speaker 6: Alexis reeds on it. She got me.
- 6:15Speaker 4: That's my gal.
- 6:16Speaker 6: How do you come back from that?
- 6:19Speaker 4: They give you all little context of that. Clay did
- 6:22Speaker 4: a video social media. He's cooking chili in his house
- 6:26Speaker 4: and Alexis is watching and sitting on the couch and
- 6:29Speaker 4: he takes a double handful of mushrooms and drops him
- 6:32Speaker 4: in his chili and she looked at me. He's like,
- 6:33Speaker 4: we can no longer be friends to play.
- 6:36Speaker 6: I said, I took of all the things I've done
- 6:38Speaker 6: in my life. I took more heat for the mushrooms
- 6:41Speaker 6: and chili from my wife, from my kids, from Alexis.
- 6:46Speaker 3: That was like three years ago.
- 6:48Speaker 6: Oh gosh, bred it was ten years ago.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Really.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, I can't wait to see what comes out
- 6:53Speaker 2: of the show.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Today. We're doing meat Eatter trivia too, yeah. Friday, Yeah, tomorrow, tomorrow,
- 7:00Speaker 4: you know. And what about some flat fishing? You and
- 7:04Speaker 4: Corey went out fly fishing.
- 7:05Speaker 6: Wah wah wah.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Oh Clay, someday you'll you'll understand, he'll grow fish. Well, yeah,
- 7:15Speaker 2: you're right, trip, Yeah, we went fishing yesterday.
- 7:19Speaker 7: It was one of those trips where.
- 7:21Speaker 2: We thought we might get pounded with rain and the
- 7:24Speaker 2: possibility of winter weather incoming.
- 7:26Speaker 7: Uh, but we decided to go for it.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Anyways, did a really nice float five six miles and
- 7:32Speaker 2: it wasn't happening.
- 7:34Speaker 7: But we had a great time.
- 7:35Speaker 6: So you didn't You didn't catch any fish.
- 7:38Speaker 7: Moved a couple.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Alex our our our grand puba of social media, as
- 7:43Speaker 2: Brent might call him, He caught one and that was it.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 7: That's the problem though, is that you know.
- 7:49Speaker 2: If somebody catches a fish immediately upon starting the trip,
- 7:53Speaker 2: that's either, you know, a great sign or a very
- 7:55Speaker 2: bad sign. And that ended up being the case.
- 7:59Speaker 3: But good to be in the Uh.
- 8:02Speaker 4: I've got a podcast coming out tomorrow that's gonna feature
- 8:07Speaker 4: our our musical guest. Today, I went hunting with Red
- 8:09Speaker 4: and Alabama and got to hunt on some really cool
- 8:13Speaker 4: ancestral land, met some great people, some friends longtime family
- 8:17Speaker 4: friends of Reed and his father, and got to meet
- 8:21Speaker 4: his father, doctor Paul Bargaineer.
- 8:23Speaker 6: He's worked on your teeth, he did not.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Yeah, he pulled this one out and I brought it
- 8:28Speaker 4: with me. Got we got to hang out with with
- 8:33Speaker 4: Reed's oldest son Barns too great kid. I left him
- 8:37Speaker 4: with a turkey call the man he was. He was
- 8:40Speaker 4: sounding good when when I left. I hope, I hope
- 8:42Speaker 4: his mama hadn't hit it from him by now. But hey,
- 8:45Speaker 4: we had you got going.
- 8:46Speaker 6: We We had a podcast drop yesterday and Bear Grease
- 8:49Speaker 6: that I'm really excited about. It's called Confessions of a
- 8:51Speaker 6: Former Outlaw and it's, uh, every now and then, uh,
- 8:56Speaker 6: you run into somebody with a particular story that's really great.
- 9:00Speaker 6: I mean, if I could find twenty six Johnny Johnson's
- 9:06Speaker 6: to interview every other week for the Bear Grease documentary
- 9:10Speaker 6: style episode, I mean, Joe Rogan would be begging to
- 9:14Speaker 6: come on my podcast. It's a really unique podcast and
- 9:19Speaker 6: it's it's the title says quite a bit.
- 9:22Speaker 3: The guy.
- 9:23Speaker 6: The guy was a was a It was a turkey
- 9:26Speaker 6: outlaw and you ought to go listen to it. And
- 9:30Speaker 6: interestingly it's also being played on the Meat Eater feed
- 9:34Speaker 6: today as I understand it. So it's called Confessions of
- 9:37Speaker 6: a Former Outlaw and it's a it's a human story.
- 9:40Speaker 6: I mean, it's a story about this guy's life, a
- 9:42Speaker 6: living man from Oklahoma, south south east, south east Oklahoma
- 9:47Speaker 6: and Uh, it's a pretty powerful story. Got some hooks
- 9:52Speaker 6: and some shockers and some yeah a little bit.
- 9:55Speaker 4: When you tell me, like, have you listened to it yet,
- 9:57Speaker 4: I'm like no, And then you'll give me a brief
- 10:00Speaker 4: ops of what's going on, and then I'll listen to
- 10:02Speaker 4: it for the for the render. But yesterday and he
- 10:05Speaker 4: said if you listened to it yet? Or day four
- 10:07Speaker 4: yesterday said if you listened to it yet? And I said, no,
- 10:09Speaker 4: not yet, And you said, I'm not telling you nothing else.
- 10:11Speaker 4: You just got to hear it. I listened to it
- 10:12Speaker 4: this morning. It's it's really good, really good.
- 10:17Speaker 2: So check that out, Marcus.
- 10:19Speaker 4: You got something just dropped recently.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Yeah, so a day two days ago, my latest film
- 10:24Speaker 2: hit the Mediator YouTube channel, which is what I'm pretty
- 10:27Speaker 2: excited about because it's it came from the surprising news
- 10:33Speaker 2: that I've read like four years ago, I think, when
- 10:36Speaker 2: I came across this article from the Alaska Fishing Game
- 10:40Speaker 2: saying that there might be mule deer and white tails
- 10:43Speaker 2: showing up in Alaska for the first time ever. So
- 10:46Speaker 2: I read that article immediately, I thought, that is fascinating. Yeah,
- 10:50Speaker 2: why is that happening? How is that happening and how
- 10:52Speaker 2: can I get there and learn more about this myself.
- 10:55Speaker 2: So four or five years ago, when I first saw that,
- 10:57Speaker 2: I pitched Mediator on going and doing a podca cast
- 11:00Speaker 2: series all about this. I wanted to go up there,
- 11:02Speaker 2: spend a bunch of time, interview people, meet people, do
- 11:04Speaker 2: all this stuff. And it didn't go anywhere. But for
- 11:07Speaker 2: the last few years I've kind of kept on bugging people.
- 11:10Speaker 3: By, hey, we got a waking wheel.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yeah, squeaky wheel. I want to learn more about if
- 11:14Speaker 2: this is happening and what it means and what's going on,
- 11:17Speaker 2: and long story short, finally it came together and I
- 11:20Speaker 2: wasn't you know, I originally wanted to go and try
- 11:23Speaker 2: to go on like a sasquatch hunt, you know, like
- 11:25Speaker 2: go and try to find this mysterious, possible first whitetail
- 11:29Speaker 2: in Alaska and actually roam that area, walking around and
- 11:32Speaker 2: interview the people who claimed to have seen them. And
- 11:35Speaker 2: when we started kind of going down that road, and
- 11:38Speaker 2: because of various logistical challenges, we couldn't do that. But
- 11:41Speaker 2: what it led to you was like, all right, let's
- 11:43Speaker 2: go there and see what is there currently learn more
- 11:47Speaker 2: about blacktail deer.
- 11:48Speaker 7: The native deer species, learn more.
- 11:50Speaker 2: About this area southeast Alaska, spend some time with some
- 11:54Speaker 2: Native Alaskans or I mean residents of Alaska who have
- 11:57Speaker 2: seen some of these critters and get a sense of
- 12:00Speaker 2: what's happened.
- 12:00Speaker 7: And then talk to Alaska fishing game.
- 12:02Speaker 3: You learn you learned some stuff I did, surprise and.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Stuff, really interesting stuff just about how much is changing
- 12:10Speaker 2: in Alaska. And I think, being from the lower forty eight,
- 12:14Speaker 2: when I think about Alaska, I don't know what you guys,
- 12:16Speaker 2: but when I think about Alaska, it still feels like
- 12:18Speaker 2: this untouched pristine like it's still how it used to
- 12:22Speaker 2: be there. But then when I started asking questions to
- 12:25Speaker 2: folks who've lived there their whole lives, they're talking about
- 12:28Speaker 2: all these things that have changed just in their lifetime.
- 12:30Speaker 2: New critters showing up in new places, all sorts of stuff. So, yeah,
- 12:35Speaker 2: very eye opening. And then the experience itself, just getting
- 12:38Speaker 2: to go into this terrain hike up into the alpine
- 12:42Speaker 2: see blacktail deer for the first time, being in an
- 12:44Speaker 2: area that's loaded with brown bears.
- 12:47Speaker 7: That definitely had you.
- 12:49Speaker 6: Run Admiralty Island where yeah, yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 2: They call that the Fortress of the Bears, yeah, really
- 12:54Speaker 2: the highest densities of brown bears in the world. And yeah,
- 12:58Speaker 2: so it was very accuracy.
- 13:00Speaker 8: In the chat is asking how many bears did you
- 13:02Speaker 8: encounter if you have a number.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah, we didn't encounter any. They were around us. There
- 13:09Speaker 2: were a sign of them all over the place. And
- 13:11Speaker 2: it was so funny, like going into the trip, that's
- 13:14Speaker 2: on your mind a lot, like how do we everything
- 13:17Speaker 2: you did you were taking to account, all right, how
- 13:19Speaker 2: do we mitigate any possible risk with bears? Where are
- 13:22Speaker 2: we going to camp, how are we going to get there?
- 13:24Speaker 2: How do we approach the hunt plan? You know, what
- 13:26Speaker 2: about when we get a deer down? All those things?
- 13:28Speaker 2: And then of course it was there was nothing to
- 13:31Speaker 2: worry about. There was things to worry but nothing pandemic.
- 13:34Speaker 2: But you're prepared. You were prepared.
- 13:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:37Speaker 6: It was a great film, Mark, thank you. I see
- 13:40Speaker 6: somebody up there saying talking about the whole thing with
- 13:44Speaker 6: Yannis about do we make films or do we make episodes?
- 13:47Speaker 6: Mark Kenny makes films. It was really good.
- 13:50Speaker 7: Thanks buddy. I appreciate it.
- 13:51Speaker 4: I liked it a lot.
- 13:52Speaker 7: It was it was it was a fun one work on.
- 13:55Speaker 4: You know.
- 13:55Speaker 6: I almost hate to say this, but talking about in
- 13:58Speaker 6: your film you talked about Okay, well sorry, go ahead now.
- 14:00Speaker 6: In your film you talked about how the temperature in
- 14:04Speaker 6: Alaska has changed more than the lower forty eight, Like
- 14:08Speaker 6: you know, there's like these glaciers melting and stuff. I
- 14:11Speaker 6: think in our lifetime we'll see as the as the
- 14:15Speaker 6: temperature becomes more mild than Alaska, potentially more people going
- 14:19Speaker 6: up there because it's been a barrier to entry, just
- 14:21Speaker 6: how harsh the winters have been.
- 14:24Speaker 7: And that's quite likely.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Man. It's it's snowing outside right now, and I'm worried
- 14:29Speaker 4: that we ain't got enough bread and milk. We're gonna,
- 14:31Speaker 4: we're gonna, We're not gonna make it.
- 14:33Speaker 6: You are Did you send your girls to school today?
- 14:36Speaker 6: Did you call it and be like, no, sweetie, it's
- 14:38Speaker 6: snowing in Bozeman, you can't go to school, cambitd Arkansas
- 14:41Speaker 6: Free Day.
- 14:42Speaker 4: I don't talk like that.
- 14:44Speaker 6: Are you sure?
- 14:45Speaker 4: I'm gonna talk to a guy that does talk like that.
- 14:48Speaker 4: He'll have a different accident when we talked to him today.
- 14:51Speaker 4: And that is my buddy Read Bargaineer. He is a
- 14:56Speaker 4: returning Radio Live guest and he's also as at Reid's
- 15:02Speaker 4: piano news on Instagram. That's how I met him.
- 15:05Speaker 2: You know what's funny, as I've always thought his name
- 15:07Speaker 2: was Reids piano.
- 15:12Speaker 8: To I just kind of looked at that really quickly
- 15:14Speaker 8: and never really thought about.
- 15:15Speaker 6: A bargaineer, like a hybrid between an auctioneer and a
- 15:20Speaker 6: bargain shopper.
- 15:21Speaker 4: That is lame.
- 15:23Speaker 9: I think it's a low grade of French.
- 15:25Speaker 3: If I had to guess, read, welcome buddy.
- 15:30Speaker 9: Thanks man, glad to be here. And Clay and Phil,
- 15:32Speaker 9: I don't if you want to lay down some taco
- 15:35Speaker 9: shell on this, I've got no issue laid down some
- 15:43Speaker 9: taco That's amazing.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Read.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Uh.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Just last week I was with Read down in Alabama
- 15:48Speaker 4: and hunting on his family land, and I did, like
- 15:52Speaker 4: I said, The podcast is coming out tomorrow is all
- 15:54Speaker 4: about that. But man, what a treat there was. We
- 15:58Speaker 4: stayed in a in a in an old home place.
- 16:01Speaker 4: It was built in nineteen o two and on the
- 16:04Speaker 4: in the four yer when you walk in the front door,
- 16:06Speaker 4: on this big front porch, there is a signed land
- 16:10Speaker 4: grant document from President James Monroe. It was dated eighteen
- 16:17Speaker 4: twenty two. Is that right?
- 16:20Speaker 6: I was thinking he was dead.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Yeah, eighteen twenty two on February the first actual that
- 16:24Speaker 4: actual documents in there. And so there's so much history
- 16:27Speaker 4: with with his friends families that own that land and
- 16:30Speaker 4: then Reed's family that owns the land that we that
- 16:33Speaker 4: we hunted on. That was That was great, man, that's cool.
- 16:38Speaker 9: We had a good time, as much fun as you
- 16:41Speaker 9: can have without killing a bird, in my opinion.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the cats out of the bag.
- 16:46Speaker 4: But uh, that turkey, that turkey that we tried to
- 16:49Speaker 4: kill is still goblin. Matter of fact, you heard him
- 16:51Speaker 4: this morning, didn't it.
- 16:54Speaker 9: I did, Yeah, Clay, I listened to your podcast on
- 16:56Speaker 9: the way down.
- 16:57Speaker 7: It's a it's all cool for sure.
- 17:00Speaker 9: Yes, it's fantastic, but yeah, we I mean in my head,
- 17:04Speaker 9: it's like, and I feel like I'm gonna get a
- 17:06Speaker 9: reputation as just a guy that likes to likes to
- 17:09Speaker 9: go hang out with his buddies in the woods way
- 17:11Speaker 9: early in the morning in the spring because I haven't
- 17:15Speaker 9: doing a lot of bird There could be worse things,
- 17:17Speaker 9: but you got to kill a bird at some point
- 17:19Speaker 9: otherwise you're just you're just hanging out.
- 17:21Speaker 10: Now.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I got a question about reading, and that's sorry. Yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 2: but but Brent, Yeah, I know some people who are
- 17:27Speaker 2: very musical musically inclined who do that thing where they
- 17:31Speaker 2: kind of sing everything that they're doing or what they're
- 17:34Speaker 2: saying to you.
- 17:35Speaker 7: It's like, hey, will you get that catchup?
- 17:37Speaker 8: You know that kind of thing.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Does Reed do that?
- 17:39Speaker 9: No?
- 17:39Speaker 3: And I don't know anybody that does that.
- 17:40Speaker 2: You don't know anybody that does that.
- 17:42Speaker 4: No.
- 17:45Speaker 6: My wife says that my mother Juju, my sweet mother Juju.
- 17:49Speaker 6: When she is asking an awkward question, she sings.
- 17:52Speaker 2: It really is like.
- 17:54Speaker 6: That dresses a little like she's like, uh, you know,
- 18:00Speaker 6: like the food got a little cold.
- 18:04Speaker 11: I do that.
- 18:04Speaker 8: I do that when I really I can feel the
- 18:07Speaker 8: urge to yell at my kids, but I can't, so
- 18:09Speaker 8: I'll be like, you really need to clean your room now.
- 18:11Speaker 7: Because I'm getting Oh I should.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Probably Tyler Tyler and Casey from the Element do that
- 18:17Speaker 2: a lot. Yeah, they're always singing what's going on in
- 18:20Speaker 2: their lives.
- 18:21Speaker 7: So yeah, there you go.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Pretty interesting.
- 18:25Speaker 3: That's insite, all right.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Speaking of insanity, there was something that happened in the
- 18:29Speaker 4: grocery store Biil. Can you play that video? Oh?
- 18:33Speaker 8: Yeah, see it might be a little loud, but I
- 18:35Speaker 8: can't control the volume.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Here we go, all right.
- 18:37Speaker 5: Very at this point in the door officers in Indiana
- 18:41Speaker 5: found themselves dealing with a particularly tough customer. A turkey
- 18:46Speaker 5: entered a Martin store in Saint Joseph County and proceeded
- 18:49Speaker 5: to knock over merchandise and chase customers. After some deliberation,
- 18:54Speaker 5: a brave officer grabbed the large turkey off the shelf,
- 18:58Speaker 5: safely escorting him out of this store and back into
- 19:01Speaker 5: the wild.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Now, man, that puts a that that puts a whole
- 19:10Speaker 4: new spin on the frozen food isle right there.
- 19:12Speaker 6: When I'm impressed that sucker by the spurs and I
- 19:16Speaker 6: mean he did it.
- 19:18Speaker 2: He did it.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Man.
- 19:20Speaker 4: I saw that video, and there's a somebody says in
- 19:23Speaker 4: the video, whoever's filming, says, watch out for those talents.
- 19:26Speaker 6: Talents. Yeah, yeah, And I'd have done I'd have gone
- 19:31Speaker 6: over by the frozen milk and hunkered down and.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Frozen milk, frozen milk.
- 19:40Speaker 6: Section, frozen milk.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I think you know what I meant, I really don't.
- 19:46Speaker 6: The dairy section, the frozen Yeah, to me is what
- 19:50Speaker 6: I'm trying to say. Rather than go in on him
- 19:52Speaker 6: and and and it wrecked that predit or that flight response.
- 19:56Speaker 6: I would have tried to get him on the on
- 19:58Speaker 6: the issues of love.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Sometimes you should just be quiet, all right. From that incident,
- 20:05Speaker 4: Reid has been inspired for this next musical number, take
- 20:09Speaker 4: it Away.
- 20:10Speaker 9: Yeah, all right, we'll do it. By the way, it's
- 20:13Speaker 9: so much more normal seeing this to a group of
- 20:16Speaker 9: three guys than just Phil Taylor.
- 20:20Speaker 8: I felt I felt very special in taking care of
- 20:23Speaker 8: yesterday during.
- 20:26Speaker 9: Uh yeah, this is maybe Brent, we were just looking
- 20:28Speaker 9: in the wrong places.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Yeah, here we go.
- 20:41Speaker 9: Three days bred reeves. Well, he's a turkey calling fiend.
- 20:47Speaker 9: He left Alabama without a tread a turkey meat.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Maybe it wasn't once not the midmorning fields.
- 20:58Speaker 9: We should have been trying to sound like Hussy hens.
- 21:05Speaker 4: We should have to stay at the wall on one
- 21:10Speaker 4: there green and then the turn.
- 21:12Speaker 9: He was just checking out froze in sech pizzas. We
- 21:17Speaker 9: all not have lit dead fignings for so long.
- 21:23Speaker 1: We have a grocery store long beard dead on.
- 21:27Speaker 12: The wall.
- 21:41Speaker 11: That is out.
- 21:43Speaker 4: Give me give me estimated time of your how long
- 21:48Speaker 4: it took you to write that little diddy?
- 21:50Speaker 9: That would anytime I can work Hussy into a song.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Oh man, that's awesome.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Okay, brother, Well what's what's next for your hoss?
- 22:03Speaker 13: Uh?
- 22:04Speaker 9: You know, lots of kids baseball and trying to figure
- 22:06Speaker 9: out time to get them back out.
- 22:09Speaker 4: To the woods. Okay, good deal, we're around.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Man, Thank you for coming again.
- 22:13Speaker 11: I had a blast.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Oh yeah, we got to get John David out there
- 22:16Speaker 4: and get Barnes and I hope you Daddy Paul. I'll
- 22:19Speaker 4: hope you all all just smash him. But I know
- 22:21Speaker 4: Turkey seasons were still running down there, so I might
- 22:25Speaker 4: I might be free to come back. So Mike Clay,
- 22:29Speaker 4: now Clay's busy. Hey, I want everyone to go. Thank you, brother,
- 22:32Speaker 4: I appreciate you being here. And y'all all right, guys,
- 22:35Speaker 4: y'all read. You can check read stuff out at at
- 22:39Speaker 4: Reid's Piano News on Instagram.
- 22:42Speaker 6: Read ought to have a million followers.
- 22:44Speaker 4: He should have.
- 22:44Speaker 6: I mean when I first started hearing him, I was like, Okay,
- 22:47Speaker 6: I'm gonna go to this Instagram page and it's gonna
- 22:49Speaker 6: be a dude with a million followers.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Yeah. It's like, I mean, it's grown exponentially, I think
- 22:55Speaker 4: since he's been on the on the show here.
- 22:56Speaker 3: But way, it's stuff that's really.
- 22:59Speaker 6: Really almost not every day, but multiple times per week.
- 23:02Speaker 6: He sings the news. That's what he does.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Something.
- 23:05Speaker 4: You know something, You've got a good news story, he's gonna.
- 23:08Speaker 6: And the songs are often more complex than that multiverse
- 23:11Speaker 6: great choruses. I mean, he's no Phil Taylor, Clay Nukelem,
- 23:14Speaker 6: but yeah.
- 23:15Speaker 8: Of course not.
- 23:16Speaker 4: I tell you what that dude is is the humor hads.
- 23:20Speaker 4: How good of a piano player? Oh, I mean you
- 23:23Speaker 4: gotta kind of take second stage. He's really good.
- 23:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I can see that.
- 23:31Speaker 3: All right, we're ready for our next segment.
- 23:33Speaker 7: What have we got?
- 23:34Speaker 3: Our next segment is called hot tip On.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Turn your head and get hot.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Like this.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Wow, Phil, that is an outstanding hotter tip off.
- 24:05Speaker 8: It's a word for it.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Hot tip off is where two listeners go head to
- 24:10Speaker 4: head with competing pieces of advice. Now, after we hear
- 24:14Speaker 4: each tip, we'll declare which one we think is hotter.
- 24:18Speaker 4: If you have a hot tip, take a one minute
- 24:20Speaker 4: video on your phone and email it to radio at
- 24:25Speaker 4: the Meat Eater dot com with the subject line hot
- 24:29Speaker 4: tip Off. This week, our competitors are Size Need and
- 24:34Speaker 4: Drew Henry, and they're competing for some of our new
- 24:37Speaker 4: bear grease. And this country life.
- 24:40Speaker 6: Logo where those can't be real names.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Folks and chat please chime in. All right, let's hear
- 24:46Speaker 3: the hot tips.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Drew Henry, Hey, what's up.
- 24:53Speaker 14: Welcome to a hot tip. My name is Drew, and
- 24:56Speaker 14: I'm working on some whitetail from this fall. I'm at
- 24:59Speaker 14: the point right now ready to start packaging. I like
- 25:01Speaker 14: to use freezer paper, and I used to like to
- 25:03Speaker 14: use plastic wrap. But my hot tip is for you
- 25:06Speaker 14: to go down to your grocery store, talk to your
- 25:08Speaker 14: local produce clerk and have them sell you a roll
- 25:10Speaker 14: of produce bags. This one I've had for about three years.
- 25:14Speaker 14: As you can see it's getting down there. It served
- 25:15Speaker 14: me well. I just bought this one recently. I think
- 25:18Speaker 14: it cost me twelve to fifteen bucks. They're not going
- 25:21Speaker 14: to know exactly what to price it at, but they'll
- 25:22Speaker 14: figure it out for you anyway. Produce bags are simple,
- 25:26Speaker 14: just like you're buying some broccoli at the store. Give
- 25:29Speaker 14: it a rip, cut your steaks out, throw them in there.
- 25:34Speaker 1: It's really nice.
- 25:35Speaker 14: You can give it a good squeeze and get all
- 25:36Speaker 14: that air out of there, give it a spin, tie
- 25:41Speaker 14: it off. Once you got everything bagged, you're ready to
- 25:45Speaker 14: start wrapping. When you go to thaw this out to
- 25:47Speaker 14: eat it later, you're not gonna have a big mess
- 25:49Speaker 14: in your fridge.
- 25:50Speaker 4: There's your hot.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Tip that.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Sealed.
- 25:56Speaker 15: Yeah, hey, there eat RadioLIVE size need coming at you
- 26:01Speaker 15: with a hot tip off.
- 26:02Speaker 7: You've got your freezer here, it's full of meat.
- 26:05Speaker 15: Hopefully Your wife says, hey, what you run out there
- 26:08Speaker 15: and grabs another freezer for dinner.
- 26:09Speaker 14: And say, well, what do you want?
- 26:10Speaker 3: Because I don't know what do you want?
- 26:11Speaker 4: I don't really care, it's up to you.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Well, what do we have in the freezer? I'm not sure.
- 26:16Speaker 4: Well here's how you know. Get you a little.
- 26:18Speaker 15: Whiteboard like this magnetic. It was like four bucks, I
- 26:21Speaker 15: have them here my moose, oh sammon blah blah blah.
- 26:24Speaker 15: So I can run out of here and I say, hey,
- 26:26Speaker 15: you got twenty one pounds of grand moose meat out here.
- 26:28Speaker 15: What do you say we make something with that? And
- 26:30Speaker 15: she says he sounds good, makes your wife happy, makes
- 26:34Speaker 15: your life better. And if your hord backstrap's like me,
- 26:38Speaker 15: you kind of can check it every time you walk by.
- 26:39Speaker 15: It's a little bit like checking the stock market.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Yeah, feel good.
- 26:43Speaker 6: This guy's a showman.
- 26:44Speaker 4: Anyway, get you one of those, enjoy it and your
- 26:47Speaker 4: life will be better. You heard it here first, Okay.
- 26:50Speaker 7: I do like keeping track of stuff like that.
- 26:52Speaker 2: That is what is spreadsheet.
- 26:56Speaker 6: I was like, man, that's a lot of calculating.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Well here, I think.
- 27:00Speaker 6: It's full Brent.
- 27:03Speaker 4: If anybody here needs something to keep them organized, it
- 27:07Speaker 4: would be you.
- 27:08Speaker 6: I mean, when you're just when you got so much meat,
- 27:12Speaker 6: so many deers, so many turkeys, so many elks, so
- 27:16Speaker 6: many moods. I've never killed a milk so many.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I've seen the backseat of Clay Newcomb's truck during hunting season,
- 27:23Speaker 2: and this is the thing that I've never seen before,
- 27:25Speaker 2: and it still hurts my soul. I once opened the
- 27:28Speaker 2: back door of his truck and he has loose climbing
- 27:31Speaker 2: sticks just thrown all over the place in there.
- 27:34Speaker 7: They're not even strapped together.
- 27:35Speaker 4: You wonder about you? Wonder if my tennis shot is
- 27:39Speaker 4: up to date before you get in the back of this.
- 27:41Speaker 6: Yeah, I can't argue what the man says is true.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Okay, but I'm gonna tell you what my vote is
- 27:47Speaker 3: right now, and it's size need.
- 27:49Speaker 7: I love that, m I like that.
- 27:51Speaker 8: I mean, we have a pull open in the chat
- 27:53Speaker 8: right now, and guess what you guys are going to
- 27:56Speaker 8: be selecting the winter you all in the live chat,
- 27:58Speaker 8: so oh so it doesn't even matter and you know
- 28:00Speaker 8: you're just providing color commentary. Mark, I'm sorry to take
- 28:03Speaker 8: away power.
- 28:04Speaker 6: Please, you know I've got a side. Was a showman.
- 28:08Speaker 6: Appreciated the passion. I admire the organization. I think it's
- 28:12Speaker 6: a bit unrealistic. It's kind of like seeing like some
- 28:17Speaker 6: celebrity talking about something that you're like, dude, live in
- 28:20Speaker 6: the real world.
- 28:21Speaker 8: Yea, we have an allegation on the TV. I don't
- 28:25Speaker 8: know if you you can't.
- 28:29Speaker 6: Yes, we weren't talking.
- 28:32Speaker 3: We weren't talking about my truck.
- 28:34Speaker 4: We were talking about clothes.
- 28:35Speaker 8: For the audio listeners, Alexis is claiming that Brent's truck
- 28:38Speaker 8: is also awful.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Well, just for that, I think, to add on to
- 28:44Speaker 2: what you're saying, Clay, I love his idea that keeping
- 28:48Speaker 2: track of everything, but to get that done, it takes
- 28:51Speaker 2: a lot of upfront work because you've got to count everything.
- 28:54Speaker 2: You've got to update your chart every time you add
- 28:56Speaker 2: something new, So that's adding, you know, more more work
- 28:59Speaker 2: to your schedule.
- 29:00Speaker 16: Right.
- 29:01Speaker 2: While the first guy Drew his little baggy idea saves
- 29:05Speaker 2: the time, because that's going to be faster than cutting
- 29:07Speaker 2: all these individual pieces of plastic wrap and wrapping them
- 29:10Speaker 2: up individually and trying to make sure I'm always not
- 29:12Speaker 2: cutting it long enough.
- 29:13Speaker 4: This is what I heard Mark Kenyon say, I'm lazy.
- 29:17Speaker 6: Eficient anything but lazy.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I liked, I have a vacuum management.
- 29:22Speaker 4: I have a vacuum seatter, so I vacuum seal all
- 29:25Speaker 4: my stuff, which is what more or less what Drew was.
- 29:28Speaker 6: Yeah, when he was doing it, I actually thought you
- 29:29Speaker 6: could probably suck almost all the air.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Out of there's just there's still plenty in there. But
- 29:34Speaker 4: but I have one so I mean the organ and
- 29:37Speaker 4: a vacuum seal that it's all pretty uniform and I
- 29:40Speaker 4: can I can put it in there like a grocery
- 29:42Speaker 4: store pretty much.
- 29:43Speaker 8: So.
- 29:44Speaker 3: But the the idea on the on the listing of everything,
- 29:49Speaker 3: I like.
- 29:50Speaker 4: That, you know.
- 29:51Speaker 6: I think maybe Drew's though his expectations of people's ability
- 29:55Speaker 6: to do something out of the out of the norm
- 29:59Speaker 6: is maybe hire like Drew probably has a lot of
- 30:02Speaker 6: people's skills. It's able to go find someone in the
- 30:05Speaker 6: produced section, haggle with them, get something that's not for sale.
- 30:09Speaker 6: That takes a special man to do that. So hat
- 30:11Speaker 6: tip to Drew. Also, maybe it's on the side of
- 30:15Speaker 6: unrealistic too.
- 30:17Speaker 8: I'm gonna I'm gonna end the poll here in about
- 30:19Speaker 8: ten seconds, so get those get those last last second
- 30:21Speaker 8: votes in if you want my vote for Drew.
- 30:23Speaker 7: I like them both, but I'm voting for Drew.
- 30:25Speaker 3: Mark's got we got Drew's got one from Mark.
- 30:27Speaker 7: No Clay, Clay he had to pay Drew.
- 30:30Speaker 4: I'm going with I'm going with Sy. Well.
- 30:33Speaker 8: The winner of the poll is Sy Snead seventy over
- 30:38Speaker 8: seventy percent of the vote, so he kind of cleaned
- 30:40Speaker 8: up there.
- 30:40Speaker 6: I know audience a bunch of dreamers out there. Yeah,
- 30:44Speaker 6: congrats Sy, Good job, Sy, it's a great tip.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Good job. Okay, let's see snipe side needs to holler
- 30:51Speaker 4: at feel are you Corey.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I'll reach out to Corey.
- 30:56Speaker 4: You're going to reach out to him, Corey, reach out
- 30:58Speaker 4: to you and get all your squared away on all
- 31:01Speaker 4: your plunder that you just won. H how about some
- 31:05Speaker 4: more listener feedback.
- 31:06Speaker 8: That does not have someone named Alexis reasons No, you
- 31:10Speaker 8: can just call on her.
- 31:11Speaker 4: At any time unless it's disparage and remarks about.
- 31:14Speaker 8: Sure only glowing things about Brent. Yes, let's see here.
- 31:19Speaker 6: Thank you, alexis.
- 31:23Speaker 7: Uh. This is for Michael.
- 31:25Speaker 8: Question for Clay or Mark tips on getting started in
- 31:28Speaker 8: the writing world. Oh wow, this is kind of a big,
- 31:30Speaker 8: big question here, But how'd you guys get curious about.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Factor a little bit? Mark's writing a book, writing another
- 31:39Speaker 2: book right now. Yeah, first book has been out for
- 31:41Speaker 2: five years now, that Wild Country. Do they know what
- 31:43Speaker 2: you're doing?
- 31:44Speaker 6: Clay Well, Mark is a writer. Mark is a published author,
- 31:48Speaker 6: incredible book, that Wild Country, and he's writing the second one.
- 31:51Speaker 6: So Mark, take it away.
- 31:53Speaker 7: Okay.
- 31:53Speaker 2: So the very fast answer to that question would be
- 31:56Speaker 2: getting started in the writing world.
- 31:57Speaker 7: First, you just got to do it.
- 31:59Speaker 2: So don't wait until someone gives you a contract or
- 32:01Speaker 2: a deal or a public publication opportunity.
- 32:04Speaker 7: Just start writing more and more.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Flex that muscle, exercise that muscle.
- 32:08Speaker 7: Get good. Number two.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Publish, publish, publish on your own So use whatever platform
- 32:14Speaker 2: you have, whether it's substack or a blog or little
- 32:16Speaker 2: things on your Instagram, whatever, you got to put stuff
- 32:18Speaker 2: out there into the world so that eventually opportunities for
- 32:21Speaker 2: people to read your work give you feedback. And or
- 32:24Speaker 2: give you opportunities arise. So practice, practice, practice, put it
- 32:27Speaker 2: out there, put it out there, put it out there.
- 32:29Speaker 7: And then network.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Talk to every single person that you possibly could, who
- 32:32Speaker 2: might you know, have a connection with some kind of
- 32:34Speaker 2: publication someday build those relationships. And slowly, if you do
- 32:38Speaker 2: those three things over and over and over again for years,
- 32:41Speaker 2: opportunities arise. And when those opportunities are present themselves, you
- 32:46Speaker 2: have worked enough in all these years behind the scenes,
- 32:49Speaker 2: getting good enough at your craft that you can meet the.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Moment ernest Hemingway wrote naked, So there's always that, do
- 32:56Speaker 4: you guys don't.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Moving on? And we got another one up there.
- 33:01Speaker 8: Yeah, this guy has submitted this question three times, so
- 33:04Speaker 8: he's he's chopping at the bit to get an answer,
- 33:05Speaker 8: and I don't know what he's talking about. Maybe you
- 33:07Speaker 8: guys a question for Clay, will you ever do a
- 33:09Speaker 8: bear grease podcast on the treeing feist breed of squirrel
- 33:12Speaker 8: that's there's something special about a treeing fight.
- 33:16Speaker 6: Well, Phil, that's a ridiculous question. Yes, there is something
- 33:20Speaker 6: very special. That's the kind of squirrel dogs that I hunt,
- 33:25Speaker 6: and it probably would be a great bear grease podcast. No,
- 33:29Speaker 6: plans to do one. I am planning to have a
- 33:34Speaker 6: feist man on the bear grease renders soon. A real
- 33:37Speaker 6: deal guy over in Arkansas that raises a lot of
- 33:40Speaker 6: squirrel dogs.
- 33:40Speaker 7: But they're there.
- 33:41Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a really fun little little breed of dog.
- 33:44Speaker 6: That's what my dogs are, my squirrel dogs.
- 33:47Speaker 7: Yeah, they're cool dogs.
- 33:49Speaker 4: They are good.
- 33:50Speaker 6: Yep cool.
- 33:52Speaker 8: A question from coach Bowman clay or Brent curious on
- 33:55Speaker 8: your taake on why dove hunting is so popular but
- 33:57Speaker 8: you don't hear much about pigeons. Just serious, why pigeon
- 34:00Speaker 8: isn't considered a game bird.
- 34:03Speaker 4: I don't know anything about pigeons or what they even
- 34:05Speaker 4: taste like. And I'll eat about anything I can get
- 34:08Speaker 4: hemmed up and get skinned. But dove hunting in the
- 34:11Speaker 4: South is a social event more than anything.
- 34:14Speaker 6: I mean, isn't a pigeon an invasive bird?
- 34:16Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 34:18Speaker 6: I mean we wouldn't have pigeons. I mean, like there
- 34:20Speaker 6: might be some pigeons like living under the bridge somewhere, folks, Steve,
- 34:26Speaker 6: I mean, I think doves are a native game bird.
- 34:29Speaker 6: So to answer your question, I mean it's a native
- 34:31Speaker 6: game bird that lives in the wild. Very broadly distributed
- 34:36Speaker 6: across the country versus an invasive bird.
- 34:40Speaker 7: That's my question.
- 34:41Speaker 4: We have mourning doves, those are invasive two in I
- 34:45Speaker 4: think so.
- 34:46Speaker 7: The common pigeon is also known as a rock dove,
- 34:51Speaker 7: and they are native to southern Europe, North Africa, and
- 34:58Speaker 7: western Asia. Now, in Steve's first book, he writes quite
- 35:02Speaker 7: extensively about pigeons and eating little baby pigeons, really pigeons
- 35:08Speaker 7: squabs that.
- 35:10Speaker 4: I've never seen.
- 35:10Speaker 3: It was big in Europe.
- 35:12Speaker 7: I think in France that was a squab.
- 35:14Speaker 4: Yeah, but I've never seen that. You ever seen him
- 35:17Speaker 4: like a runt just flying around someone. I saw that somewhere.
- 35:22Speaker 4: All the pigeons you see here look like they're all
- 35:24Speaker 4: the same size. You never seen a juvenile one. They
- 35:28Speaker 4: grow quick. What's up with that?
- 35:29Speaker 6: Let's move on.
- 35:30Speaker 4: I got lots of questions about it.
- 35:32Speaker 8: This is more of a cheecut question. But con Man
- 35:34Speaker 8: is asking. He says he's going hunting with two of
- 35:37Speaker 8: his brothers on Sunday. He's yet to kill a longbeard,
- 35:39Speaker 8: only jakes. How do I go about asking to get
- 35:41Speaker 8: the first shot on a tom when I'm taking them
- 35:43Speaker 8: like clay and be quick.
- 35:44Speaker 4: On the trigger. Yeah, I don't ask, just beg for forgiveness.
- 35:50Speaker 8: There you go.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I feel like if I was your brother, though, that
- 35:53Speaker 2: should just be like the good, the right thing to do,
- 35:55Speaker 2: you would.
- 35:56Speaker 8: Hope you'd think.
- 35:56Speaker 4: So it's turkey season, Mark, that's ruthless.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Down south, it's different, Yes, sirry my brother.
- 36:01Speaker 3: My brother used to he would was listening for a
- 36:04Speaker 3: turkey that wasn't there.
- 36:06Speaker 4: I took a mounted turkey foot and I knew where
- 36:11Speaker 4: he was listening, but he wouldn't tell me. And I
- 36:12Speaker 4: made tracks in the mud and off the ditch bank
- 36:15Speaker 4: where he was stopping and listening, and I asked him,
- 36:19Speaker 4: I said, are you hearing the in turkeys?
- 36:20Speaker 3: He said, Man, where you're listening? He said, ain't gonna
- 36:22Speaker 3: tell you.
- 36:22Speaker 4: He said, but there is signed everywhere, but I ain't
- 36:25Speaker 4: heard one yet. And I'm like, we'll just hanging there, buddy,
- 36:27Speaker 4: he'll be there now. That kept him off of my spot.
- 36:30Speaker 4: You really.
- 36:31Speaker 6: With his brother, they shared everything except turkeys.
- 36:34Speaker 4: No turkeys. It's every man for himself.
- 36:37Speaker 8: Then we'll do one more and then we'll we'll move along.
- 36:39Speaker 8: Here Cattison is asking, I think he was the one
- 36:41Speaker 8: who also piped in with the films versus episode debate.
- 36:44Speaker 8: Uh yes, and he went through slash December Archery Elk tips.
- 36:47Speaker 8: He drew his first elk tag in a primo unit
- 36:50Speaker 8: outside of the road.
- 36:51Speaker 7: Yes, on the wrong.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Yeah, the wrong guys here for that one break killed.
- 36:56Speaker 2: You've killed, I've killed one.
- 36:58Speaker 6: Yeah, Clayson never killed.
- 36:59Speaker 4: Note Corey, you gotta ask for that.
- 37:02Speaker 8: Oh well, Corey, you can get on mic, I can
- 37:05Speaker 8: cut to your camera. So I'm kind of embarrassed how
- 37:07Speaker 8: sloppy it looks over here. But there you are.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Archery. I mean they're gonna be in there.
- 37:15Speaker 10: I don't know what state you're playing on hunting, but
- 37:18Speaker 10: they'll be in their winter range by then. Bulls will
- 37:20Speaker 10: be all bachelored up together, typically out in sunshine in
- 37:26Speaker 10: the morning and bedding on a south face somewhere that's
- 37:30Speaker 10: not too snowy. So do a lot of glasses, look
- 37:33Speaker 10: for tracks, fresh sign and uh yeah, good luck. It's
- 37:36Speaker 10: hard to stock elk in the snow with a bow.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Are there Archer seasons open in December right here?
- 37:42Speaker 1: Not around here.
- 37:43Speaker 10: I'm trying to think where that would be, Washington perhaps,
- 37:47Speaker 10: all right.
- 37:48Speaker 4: I don't know. Drop us a drop us a pin catison,
- 37:52Speaker 4: We won't tell anybody m Chat Live.
- 37:56Speaker 3: All right, is that good?
- 37:57Speaker 4: Feel We're good on this?
- 37:58Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 37:58Speaker 8: Well, well I will tackle a few more questions at
- 38:00Speaker 8: the end of the show. So you have any more
- 38:01Speaker 8: questions for Brent clayer Mark, who knows when they will
- 38:04Speaker 8: be back on Radio Live, get them in.
- 38:06Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll get fired.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Ye.
- 38:09Speaker 4: All right, on to our next segment, which is One
- 38:12Speaker 4: Minute Fishing.
- 38:13Speaker 2: I am excited for this, right, Lucky, We'll do you bunk,
- 38:19Speaker 2: go ahead, make my cast.
- 38:23Speaker 4: That's you, isn't it? Phil? That outstanding?
- 38:27Speaker 8: Appreciate it. One minute Fish Channel my Inner Eastwood.
- 38:32Speaker 4: One Minute Fishing is where we go live to someone
- 38:34Speaker 4: who's fishing and they have a one minute to catch
- 38:38Speaker 4: a fish. If they're successful, we'll make a five hundred
- 38:41Speaker 4: dollars donation to a conservation group. And for the whole
- 38:45Speaker 4: month of April I or April as we call it
- 38:48Speaker 4: in Arkansas, our friends that Trout Unlimited are joining us
- 38:52Speaker 4: for one minute Oh wait a minute, let me read
- 38:54Speaker 4: this again. I'm confused.
- 38:57Speaker 3: And for the whole month Oh I got it.
- 39:00Speaker 6: Education I figured out.
- 39:02Speaker 3: For the whole month of.
- 39:03Speaker 4: April, Trout and Limited is joining us for the one
- 39:05Speaker 4: Minute Fishing episode. Okay who wrote this Corey Spencer Spencer
- 39:10Speaker 4: figure trout. This week our angler is Tanner bell Knap.
- 39:15Speaker 4: Tanner is on a spring creek near the Salt River,
- 39:18Speaker 4: somewhere on the border of Wyoming and Idaho, and he's
- 39:22Speaker 4: fishing for a donation to Trout Unlimited. Tanner, Welcome to
- 39:27Speaker 4: the show.
- 39:28Speaker 6: Let's go Tanner.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Tell us about yourself, man, what what what's your claim
- 39:33Speaker 3: to fame?
- 39:34Speaker 4: What do you do for a living?
- 39:36Speaker 12: I don't really have any claims to fame, but grew
- 39:39Speaker 12: up in Alabama and Ohio. Been fishing and hunting since
- 39:43Speaker 12: I was old enough to walk. Grew up fishing out
- 39:47Speaker 12: in Colorado every summer and fish some rivers that try
- 39:51Speaker 12: to limit it saves by fighting for minimum stream flows.
- 39:55Speaker 12: So since I was a little kid, I kind of
- 39:57Speaker 12: thought it to you. Employees is super Euros and UH
- 40:01Speaker 12: in Ohio through middle school and high school, I volunteered
- 40:04Speaker 12: to Traddle Limited and Project Healing Waters just hundreds of
- 40:08Speaker 12: hours and moved out Western College at Oregon State. UH
- 40:13Speaker 12: ended up working as an engineer for about a year
- 40:16Speaker 12: and a half or so, and then I saw this
- 40:19Speaker 12: job opportunity with Trattle Limited pop up and that's what
- 40:22Speaker 12: I've been doing ever since.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Uh.
- 40:24Speaker 12: Also on the Wyoming BHA board. Uh, right when all
- 40:28Speaker 12: the corner crossing stuff started.
- 40:30Speaker 11: So that's been pretty cool as well.
- 40:32Speaker 4: Awesome, man, you busy as a cat in a sandbox.
- 40:34Speaker 4: We uh, we asked y'all to highlight some important watersheds
- 40:38Speaker 4: across the country for this segment. Tell Us about the
- 40:42Speaker 4: Salt River watershed?
- 40:44Speaker 8: Is that well, now we're getting a little bit of
- 40:47Speaker 8: an echo feedback there, Clay. It did sound like a
- 40:49Speaker 8: duck though.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Tell us about tell us about the Salt River watershed.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Uh.
- 40:55Speaker 11: Yeah, Wyoming uh.
- 40:56Speaker 12: Is a really special place because we drain in the
- 41:00Speaker 12: Mississippi River, the Colorado River, the Bear River, as well
- 41:03Speaker 12: as the Snake River. The Salt River is part of
- 41:06Speaker 12: the Snake River headwaters here really unique. It's a place
- 41:11Speaker 12: where cutthroat trouts still dominate the main stem.
- 41:14Speaker 11: Can you guys hear me all right over the way?
- 41:15Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 41:16Speaker 11: Yeah, okay.
- 41:19Speaker 12: Cutthroat trouts still dominate the main stem of the rivers here,
- 41:22Speaker 12: which doesn't really exist anywhere else in the Rockies. Usually
- 41:25Speaker 12: they're isolated the small tributaries, and the Salt River is
- 41:30Speaker 12: a really unique spot within the Snake River headwaters. It
- 41:35Speaker 12: has the most fish per mile of anywhere up here,
- 41:37Speaker 12: as well as the biggest fish. It has a ton
- 41:40Speaker 12: of spring creeks and slews and really good groundwater influence
- 41:44Speaker 12: that helps keep tem slow in the summer and warm
- 41:47Speaker 12: in the winter, so it's really productive.
- 41:49Speaker 11: The river is highly degraded.
- 41:51Speaker 12: If you spend a lot of time on Western trout streams,
- 41:54Speaker 12: you'll see it when you're floating it. Of the ten
- 41:58Speaker 12: major tributaries, of them are fully dewatered every year. About
- 42:03Speaker 12: ten miles of the river itself are fully dewatered every year.
- 42:07Speaker 12: There's extensive bank erosion and sedimentation issues. There's all a
- 42:12Speaker 12: large scale removal of willows and riparian vegetation back in
- 42:15Speaker 12: the early and mid nineteen hundreds, and that plus grazing
- 42:21Speaker 12: and other things have just led to a very over
- 42:24Speaker 12: widened river. That's the pools are a lot shallower with
- 42:27Speaker 12: less cover than they would have naturally, and the riffles
- 42:31Speaker 12: when they get over wide, and you get a lot
- 42:33Speaker 12: of sediment deposition in the gravels, so you get a
- 42:37Speaker 12: lot lower macro invertebrate productivity and less spot in cabitats,
- 42:41Speaker 12: so a lot of the work we're doing is to
- 42:42Speaker 12: address those issues.
- 42:44Speaker 4: Awesome, man, I gotta jump in yeah, Jo get in there.
- 42:46Speaker 2: I just got to say that I love this region
- 42:49Speaker 2: over there. I spend my summers out there in a
- 42:51Speaker 2: large part of my best moments in life have been
- 42:54Speaker 2: out there. And I'm so appreciative of the stuff you
- 42:56Speaker 2: guys are doing because those snake river and yells don't
- 42:59Speaker 2: cut throat trout in that region are absolute gems of
- 43:02Speaker 2: the natural world. Those rivers are so special and uh
- 43:05Speaker 2: and yeah, they need they need our attention. So so
- 43:08Speaker 2: thank you, Tanner. And I also got to say, are
- 43:10Speaker 2: you going to the Bullmous Saloon tonight? Because that place
- 43:12Speaker 2: up there is one of my favorites.
- 43:15Speaker 11: Oh, I live about two blocks away from the Bullers.
- 43:19Speaker 4: I don't think.
- 43:21Speaker 2: You probably got a chair in there.
- 43:24Speaker 7: That's a great spot.
- 43:25Speaker 11: Yeah, next time you're here, I'd be happy to put
- 43:28Speaker 11: you on some big fish.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Come in.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Don't say things you don't mean.
- 43:32Speaker 4: I mean, all right, let's talk about what we're fishing
- 43:35Speaker 4: for today, Tanner. What are you targeting today?
- 43:37Speaker 6: We didn't even fish yet.
- 43:39Speaker 3: No, yeah, we got a fish, and how and what
- 43:41Speaker 3: are you going to do?
- 43:42Speaker 4: What are you fishing? For and how are you going
- 43:44Speaker 4: to do it?
- 43:45Speaker 12: So I'm fishing for native snake, river cutthroat, potentially a
- 43:49Speaker 12: brown shrout, and there might even be a white fish
- 43:52Speaker 12: in here. But really whatever old bite been out here
- 43:55Speaker 12: for about an hour and a half and had two bites.
- 43:57Speaker 4: Oh wow, I just saw a shark right behind you.
- 44:01Speaker 6: Odds are stacked against you, Tanner.
- 44:03Speaker 12: You can do it, yeah, but we uh, we saved
- 44:05Speaker 12: the best pool for this, so I haven't even cast
- 44:08Speaker 12: it in there yet.
- 44:09Speaker 11: So there's there's a chance, all right.
- 44:13Speaker 4: The drawing, Okay, I want you to I want you
- 44:15Speaker 4: to take your time, but hurry up every chance you get.
- 44:18Speaker 4: And as soon as that fly hits the water, we're
- 44:21Speaker 4: gonna start the timer.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Come on, you got this, Tanner, Pull the big old
- 44:25Speaker 2: flat head out of there. Please don't pull a flat
- 44:27Speaker 2: head out of there.
- 44:31Speaker 4: One if he needs to stretch before we starts.
- 44:34Speaker 6: Is he is he fly fishing?
- 44:35Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 44:35Speaker 3: I think he's run on the trot line.
- 44:37Speaker 4: That's that?
- 44:39Speaker 6: Is that a hoop net?
- 44:42Speaker 3: Tell me what you got.
- 44:44Speaker 12: Gotta We got a triple rig here just to maximize
- 44:46Speaker 12: the odds. We got a pats rubber legs to an
- 44:49Speaker 12: egg to a cell.
- 44:51Speaker 13: Oh yeah, love the dirt cell out there. There we go,
- 44:57Speaker 13: ray back, here we go falls.
- 45:01Speaker 7: Nice technique. Come on, baby, manage that line. Come on,
- 45:07Speaker 7: baby's commend it.
- 45:11Speaker 6: Park, Yeah, what's going on?
- 45:13Speaker 2: What he's doing here? He's got this this nice little
- 45:16Speaker 2: I don't know. The opposite bank. You can see there's
- 45:20Speaker 2: some moving water, there's a faster current. He's trying to
- 45:23Speaker 2: move his fly through there while maintaining it what's called
- 45:25Speaker 2: a drag free drift with his three flies. So he's
- 45:29Speaker 2: going to be flipping the fly line up so that
- 45:31Speaker 2: the drift of his fly matches the speed of the current.
- 45:35Speaker 2: So he's going to be casting and then flipping the line,
- 45:38Speaker 2: flipping the line, flipping the line as it comes down
- 45:40Speaker 2: towards him, while also simultaneously using his left hand to
- 45:43Speaker 2: pull in any slack line so that he maintains contact
- 45:46Speaker 2: with that fly. Any second now, fly and we're gonna have.
- 45:52Speaker 7: A big old, beautiful snake riller cutthroat trout, and I
- 45:54Speaker 7: will be so excited. Come on, Tanner.
- 45:59Speaker 8: Unfortunately, that's the im right there.
- 46:03Speaker 6: Description of fly fishing I've ever heard of my life.
- 46:06Speaker 3: That was like, you should be an Augusta.
- 46:08Speaker 7: Oh I love it.
- 46:10Speaker 3: That was awesome.
- 46:11Speaker 6: Almost cried.
- 46:14Speaker 11: Downside of a triple rig and sometimes you.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Look, yeah, that's me with a single rig right there.
- 46:21Speaker 7: That'll happen.
- 46:22Speaker 11: I don't think the heavy back wind helped me out
- 46:25Speaker 11: very much.
- 46:26Speaker 3: I'm sure it didn't.
- 46:27Speaker 7: Attempts.
- 46:28Speaker 4: You're also doing that in front of four million people
- 46:31Speaker 4: right now that are watching. At least you did great, Tanner.
- 46:36Speaker 4: Give me, give me, give me your pitches for what's
- 46:39Speaker 4: going on for Trout Unlimited. You got any local events
- 46:43Speaker 4: or some stuff that we need to be aware of.
- 46:45Speaker 11: Yeah, you mind if I mentioned some of the project
- 46:47Speaker 11: works with work we've done here.
- 46:49Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 46:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:51Speaker 12: So in the Salt River watershed, I just started a
- 46:55Speaker 12: little under three years ago, but our work here started
- 46:57Speaker 12: a bit before then.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Uh.
- 47:00Speaker 12: We've done about seven miles of full scale habitat restoration
- 47:03Speaker 12: work on tin Cup Creek, one mile on Swift Creek,
- 47:07Speaker 12: about a third of a mile on the Salt River.
- 47:10Speaker 12: We've replaced or retrofitted three different fish passage barriers on
- 47:15Speaker 12: the Salt River. And then for upcoming projects, we have
- 47:18Speaker 12: about three and a half miles of full scale habitat
- 47:22Speaker 12: restoration on the Salt River coming up in the next
- 47:24Speaker 12: year and a half. We're just working on raising all
- 47:27Speaker 12: the funds to implement that work. No, we're working on
- 47:30Speaker 12: some Ora recharge programs and some other things to try
- 47:33Speaker 12: to boost flows and some of those dewatered streams and
- 47:36Speaker 12: improve stream flows in the river.
- 47:40Speaker 4: Tell me about Okay, let's tell the folks where if
- 47:42Speaker 4: they want to support you, where they going to find you?
- 47:45Speaker 4: Where can they join your organization and all that stuff.
- 47:49Speaker 11: Yeah, you can join Trout and Limited.
- 47:51Speaker 12: Just google it and that helps us a lot, especially
- 47:54Speaker 12: with some of the uncertainty we've had funding recently. Just
- 47:57Speaker 12: having a strong membership really helps us out. Then the
- 48:00Speaker 12: Star Valley Chapter, we're actually holding an online sweepstakes right
- 48:04Speaker 12: now for a Wyoming Commissioner license.
- 48:07Speaker 11: So a Wyoming Commissioner license.
- 48:09Speaker 12: Whoever wins it gets to choose between any deer, elk
- 48:13Speaker 12: or prong horn tag in the state of Wyoming. I
- 48:16Speaker 12: sent you guys the link for that, So that's the
- 48:18Speaker 12: first prize. The second place prize is a real nice
- 48:23Speaker 12: Tika two seventy with a Swabsky scope, and the third
- 48:26Speaker 12: place prize is a nice pair of binos. But you
- 48:28Speaker 12: guys can help spread the word on that we're trying
- 48:31Speaker 12: to raise upwards of forty thousand dollars, and we're about
- 48:34Speaker 12: seven hundred right now, so.
- 48:36Speaker 3: Wait, let's get it in there.
- 48:38Speaker 2: He didn't win the five hundred dollars donation to tro
- 48:40Speaker 2: Out Unlimited because he didn't catch a fish, but I'll
- 48:43Speaker 2: personally donate two hundred bucks as soon as we end
- 48:46Speaker 2: this episode.
- 48:47Speaker 4: Right now.
- 48:47Speaker 2: I don't make play Nukem money, so I can't do
- 48:49Speaker 2: the full five hundred, but I'll fund at least two
- 48:51Speaker 2: hundred dollars of donations right.
- 48:52Speaker 7: After this to support what you do with your wife.
- 48:54Speaker 7: Before you do this, I didn't.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I'll hear for I like it.
- 48:58Speaker 7: I'll hear about later.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Wow, big money, Tanner. Thank you so much.
- 49:02Speaker 4: Man. We appreciate the effort and especially the effort what
- 49:05Speaker 4: you guys are doing that whole organization. It's after you're
- 49:08Speaker 4: doing some great work and we appreciate it. And Mark's
- 49:10Speaker 4: two hundred dollars poor because of you. Also, fourth place
- 49:14Speaker 4: in that contest gets to fish with hangernades.
- 49:18Speaker 3: Thanks Tanner.
- 49:19Speaker 7: Wow, Thanks Tanner.
- 49:23Speaker 3: Okay, is this a new segment we got going here?
- 49:25Speaker 3: This new?
- 49:26Speaker 8: No, it's not. It's been a while since we've done it,
- 49:28Speaker 8: but it's it's it is not new now.
- 49:30Speaker 4: I do watch, but I have a short memory your name.
- 49:39Speaker 4: I'm looking forward to this. I know Mark is really
- 49:42Speaker 4: looking forward to it. It's called Show and Tell.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Man short out man, short stap man shortly into the eighties.
- 49:59Speaker 7: He's only he's always ripping.
- 50:01Speaker 5: Is that?
- 50:02Speaker 1: What else did you expect?
- 50:05Speaker 6: Sorry, get in very mixed signals from you, honest about
- 50:11Speaker 6: our friends.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Telling us he's number that we're number one.
- 50:15Speaker 4: Okay, here's what we did. Each of us brought in
- 50:19Speaker 4: an outdoor related item that we want to talk about.
- 50:22Speaker 4: This is exactly like the elementary school version of Show
- 50:26Speaker 4: and Tell. Remember the eight years you were in elementary school.
- 50:29Speaker 6: I remember the first thing I ever brought the show until.
- 50:31Speaker 4: Okay, well let's see what y'all brought play.
- 50:34Speaker 6: Well you got in second grade. That third grade I
- 50:39Speaker 6: think was the first real show until I had And
- 50:41Speaker 6: I remember I brought my dad the biggest buck Gary
- 50:44Speaker 6: nukomb believer nukeomb ever killed. He had it sawing off
- 50:48Speaker 6: and I brought.
- 50:48Speaker 4: It to school.
- 50:49Speaker 6: So dang proud of it. Carry my dad's bucking.
- 50:52Speaker 7: But that's pretty cool to tell us this.
- 50:54Speaker 6: Hareah, folks, Mark, do you want to go first, I
- 50:57Speaker 6: would like for you to go first. I mean, I'm
- 51:00Speaker 6: to give you the best slot. You think the best
- 51:01Speaker 6: slot is the last, I'll let you go.
- 51:03Speaker 2: I'll take it now because we're running out of time, okay,
- 51:05Speaker 2: and I won't get to gloat.
- 51:09Speaker 7: In years.
- 51:09Speaker 2: Right now, I have with me to show and tell
- 51:13Speaker 2: a fly that caught my very first tarpain ever. So
- 51:17Speaker 2: you just heard me do play by play on someone's
- 51:19Speaker 2: fly fishing, So you can tell I love fly fishing well.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Tarpinary saltwater species that I've dreamed of for many, many
- 51:26Speaker 2: years and attempted to catch on fly rod for a
- 51:28Speaker 2: handful of years now, and finally about two weeks ago,
- 51:32Speaker 2: finally got done. So this little purple and blacktail. Uh no,
- 51:38Speaker 2: but uh, I don't know if the deer look like
- 51:40Speaker 2: by you, but it istail jig. Yes, I understand what
- 51:44Speaker 2: you're saying. Anyways, grown folks, grown folks are talking clay.
- 51:50Speaker 6: Come on, I mean I would call that a bucktail.
- 51:53Speaker 4: Jig.
- 51:53Speaker 6: I bet money that's bucktail.
- 51:57Speaker 3: We got to picture.
- 51:59Speaker 2: But yes, So, to make a long story short, this
- 52:03Speaker 2: fly caught my very first tarpin ever, which was a
- 52:06Speaker 2: baby tarpin. That one's not the baby, the smaller fish
- 52:10Speaker 2: with the baby tarp Yeah, caught that one off the
- 52:12Speaker 2: dock of a rental home. There were these little schools
- 52:14Speaker 2: of fish coming through, and my kids were out there
- 52:17Speaker 2: watching and saw one moving through and was able to
- 52:20Speaker 2: cast out in front of it enough and strip strip
- 52:21Speaker 2: strip stripped it in and that little guy not little,
- 52:23Speaker 2: I mean it's two foot long.
- 52:25Speaker 7: That was awesome.
- 52:25Speaker 2: And then the next day I was able to go
- 52:27Speaker 2: out with a buddy on a skiff and fish for adults,
- 52:30Speaker 2: and I caught my first real tarpin, which is that
- 52:32Speaker 2: sucker there on a fly It's like big game hunting tarpain.
- 52:37Speaker 2: Fishing with a fly rod is the closest connection I've
- 52:41Speaker 2: seen from fishing to bow hunting. It was like sitting
- 52:43Speaker 2: in a tree stand day after day after day, and
- 52:46Speaker 2: then a boone and crocket buck comes in at twenty
- 52:49Speaker 2: yards and you have just seconds. I mean, you're out
- 52:52Speaker 2: there hunting for fish. You're out in these flats. You're
- 52:54Speaker 2: spending hours an hour searching for a fish like this
- 52:56Speaker 2: because you don't just blindly cast. You're waiting until you
- 52:58Speaker 2: see one of these fish, and then the six foot
- 53:01Speaker 2: torpedo comes in at you you see it. You have
- 53:04Speaker 2: two and a half seconds to assess where that fish
- 53:06Speaker 2: is going, how fast is going to go there? You
- 53:08Speaker 2: have to then immediately lay out a perfect shot. They
- 53:10Speaker 2: don't even call it a cast, it's a shot. I've
- 53:12Speaker 2: got one shot to get that fly just in front
- 53:15Speaker 2: of that fish at just the right time, and then
- 53:16Speaker 2: immediately begin retrieving at just the right cadence and pace.
- 53:19Speaker 2: And I did that over and over for days and
- 53:21Speaker 2: days and days over the last handful of years. And finally,
- 53:25Speaker 2: two weeks ago, the stars aligned and that you know,
- 53:28Speaker 2: I don't know, almost five foot long fish finally took
- 53:32Speaker 2: my fly. You set that hook and you feel this
- 53:35Speaker 2: connection with your left hand directly. There's no rod in
- 53:37Speaker 2: between me and the fish. There's no real story, there
- 53:41Speaker 2: is a this is yeah.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Got plenty of time, there's no time.
- 53:44Speaker 2: My fly line is in my left hand, and then
- 53:48Speaker 2: it comes tight into the bony mouth that like a
- 53:51Speaker 2: bowling ball mouth on the fish on the other side,
- 53:54Speaker 2: and you feel that it feels like you're connected to
- 53:56Speaker 2: note fishing pole. Well you do, but the fishing poles
- 53:58Speaker 2: pointed directly at that fish. So in the moment at
- 54:00Speaker 2: the set, so I'm I cast out. That rod goes
- 54:03Speaker 2: underneath my armpit, and then I have to use both
- 54:05Speaker 2: hands to grab the line and then slowly retrieve it
- 54:08Speaker 2: like this, so if people could, if you're not watching,
- 54:10Speaker 2: I'm using two hands holding my rod on my armpit
- 54:13Speaker 2: and retrieving slowly but steadily. This fly and this monstrous
- 54:17Speaker 2: fish comes out and I saw him cast you, and
- 54:19Speaker 2: he comes and he's following it, so it's like a
- 54:21Speaker 2: shark following a little baby fish. And then all of
- 54:23Speaker 2: a sudden, you see this mouth just whoop, open up
- 54:26Speaker 2: like a bowling ball, and then spins, and then I
- 54:29Speaker 2: feel this just it's like if you're holding a leash
- 54:33Speaker 2: to a rottweiler and all of a sudden he sees
- 54:34Speaker 2: a squirrel, and that squirrel he's lungeus. And then immediately
- 54:38Speaker 2: feel like this electricity go through your entire body and
- 54:40Speaker 2: it blew my mind. And for twenty plus minutes, I was,
- 54:43Speaker 2: you know, one on one with that fish.
- 54:46Speaker 4: How far? How far was the cast? How far was
- 54:48Speaker 4: the shot?
- 54:49Speaker 7: Twenty foot something like that?
- 54:50Speaker 4: Oh so twenty two.
- 54:52Speaker 6: Are you compelled to memorialize this fish with a replica?
- 54:56Speaker 2: No, but I will cherish that photo and that memory
- 54:59Speaker 2: you don't want to rep hanging in your house.
- 55:01Speaker 7: I don't think my wife would allow it.
- 55:03Speaker 6: Marking two hundred dollars for trout.
- 55:06Speaker 7: Yeah I do. I do love them, but I've got
- 55:08Speaker 7: too many deer mounts.
- 55:09Speaker 2: No, mounts are not allowed in my house anymore unless
- 55:12Speaker 2: it's one seventy plus or like somehow astronomical mark does
- 55:16Speaker 2: not speak for the rest of us.
- 55:17Speaker 1: By the way, what do you reckon that fish? Ways, Mark?
- 55:20Speaker 2: We thought it was like seventy five some pounds something
- 55:22Speaker 2: like that. Jake thought that Florida in Florida.
- 55:25Speaker 7: Yep, this is down Florida.
- 55:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and I will be tarb and fishing every year
- 55:28Speaker 2: that I possibly can make it down there.
- 55:31Speaker 7: Looked, Oh my goodness.
- 55:33Speaker 2: I know you catch and release them, right, Yeah, cat,
- 55:35Speaker 2: you release and I literally you can't even take a
- 55:37Speaker 2: fish like that out of the water. So I had
- 55:38Speaker 2: to hop into the water with it to Uh, you can't.
- 55:42Speaker 2: It's illegal to take a fish that's over forty pounds
- 55:44Speaker 2: I think in Florida out of the water. Yeah, And
- 55:47Speaker 2: so hop in there with it, and uh, you know,
- 55:49Speaker 2: was able to snap a couple of photos.
- 55:51Speaker 3: And hold this fish.
- 55:53Speaker 6: Mark's kind of hogging and showing.
- 55:54Speaker 7: Yeah, I just stop speak.
- 55:56Speaker 8: But before we get off the topic of fishing, Spencer
- 55:58Speaker 8: wants you all to commit to doing a minute fishing
- 56:00Speaker 8: for this show time in the near future.
- 56:02Speaker 7: Yeah, cut me in.
- 56:04Speaker 1: They usually have cute names for these flies. Do you
- 56:07Speaker 1: know the name of this fly?
- 56:08Speaker 7: I don't know the name of this fly. I think
- 56:10Speaker 7: it's just a tarp and streamer.
- 56:11Speaker 6: I think it's tarp jig.
- 56:14Speaker 4: That's what it looks like.
- 56:15Speaker 3: You use purple.
- 56:16Speaker 1: I think it's too soft to be buck tail.
- 56:18Speaker 7: I don't think so.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Buck tail is a little more of course.
- 56:21Speaker 6: I think that's well, that's synthetic.
- 56:22Speaker 4: Mark.
- 56:23Speaker 6: This isn't even genuine.
- 56:25Speaker 4: You cheated.
- 56:25Speaker 7: I don't care what it is. It works.
- 56:27Speaker 6: It was a great that was that's a great passion story.
- 56:30Speaker 7: I loved it.
- 56:31Speaker 6: I have no doubt that that's like compelling. How much
- 56:36Speaker 6: time do we have? Are we on a time on?
- 56:39Speaker 6: Got no time on?
- 56:39Speaker 10: No?
- 56:40Speaker 7: I thought you were gonna cut us off at one hour?
- 56:42Speaker 6: Oh sweet, okay, well the show case, that's compelling.
- 56:50Speaker 4: That's good, brother.
- 56:51Speaker 6: So I would say my story really is comparable in
- 56:54Speaker 6: a way to Marks in that it was a kind
- 56:57Speaker 6: of a long time idea that came to fruition up
- 57:00Speaker 6: two years ago. I killed a bear in Arkansas with
- 57:03Speaker 6: a stone point. And so in archery, you know you
- 57:08Speaker 6: can you can take archery to the extreme of going
- 57:10Speaker 6: like super primitive, and uh, I had I wanted to
- 57:15Speaker 6: to because of the limitations of the equipment. I wanted
- 57:19Speaker 6: to shoot a bear off the ground at five yards
- 57:22Speaker 6: and the only way I could figure out how to
- 57:24Speaker 6: do that was to dig basically a ground pit, so
- 57:27Speaker 6: what we call the bear pit. So we went in
- 57:29Speaker 6: and dug a deep hole. And basically it helps with
- 57:32Speaker 6: some scink control when the wind's right. And uh, and
- 57:35Speaker 6: I shot this bear in about three yards.
- 57:38Speaker 4: I believe in.
- 57:40Speaker 6: Natural sink control. Mark Okay, yeah, But this point that
- 57:46Speaker 6: brought this stone point because this this is a fulsome point,
- 57:49Speaker 6: which a falsome point is a a A it's in
- 57:55Speaker 6: it's full. Some points were found in fulsom New Mexico
- 57:59Speaker 6: discovered in out a bone pile of bison intiquis. We
- 58:01Speaker 6: did a whole series on it by a man named
- 58:04Speaker 6: George mcjenkin was the one who found the bison pit.
- 58:07Speaker 6: But fullsome points are the are the most beautiful and
- 58:11Speaker 6: arguably the most difficult stone points in the world to make,
- 58:18Speaker 6: and so that you know, there's a lot of mystery
- 58:21Speaker 6: around why they made stone points because you've got to
- 58:24Speaker 6: have a very high quality material and just the napping
- 58:27Speaker 6: process is incredibly difficult. There's a forty forty to fifty
- 58:31Speaker 6: percent failure rate with with fluting the sides. So if
- 58:35Speaker 6: you look, the sides of this point are completely flat,
- 58:38Speaker 6: they're ultra thin. And so there's a lot of mystery
- 58:41Speaker 6: around the fulsome people and why they did this. Now
- 58:43Speaker 6: I could talk about it for hours.
- 58:44Speaker 5: I can.
- 58:45Speaker 4: You did it?
- 58:46Speaker 6: Why do you think they did it? Yeahration by penetration.
- 58:49Speaker 1: Skin, Your broadhead's going to penetrate better.
- 58:51Speaker 6: Than I mean, that's a that's a very simplified answer.
- 58:55Speaker 3: Thank you that that is.
- 58:59Speaker 6: Partly right.
- 59:00Speaker 4: But they were bigger.
- 59:02Speaker 6: There had to be more reasons than that for the
- 59:04Speaker 6: difficulty they went through. But this actual fulsome point is
- 59:08Speaker 6: what we call a replica, like a fulsome man didn't
- 59:11Speaker 6: make this right. Eleven seven hundred years ago, a man
- 59:15Speaker 6: named Tony Sores in California made him, and he is
- 59:18Speaker 6: arguably the most skilled man on the planet at making
- 59:22Speaker 6: fulsome points. There's a collection of people that can make
- 59:25Speaker 6: them a lot of flint and appers can make them,
- 59:27Speaker 6: but Tony Sores is one of the best in the world.
- 59:29Speaker 6: And the biggest question about fulsome is how did they
- 59:34Speaker 6: make them? And so Tony made this one for me.
- 59:36Speaker 6: There's a film on the mediat YouTube channel of me
- 59:40Speaker 6: killing the bear out of the pit with this point.
- 59:43Speaker 6: But I will tell you this, Tony has a He
- 59:46Speaker 6: made these points for me, Like I watched him make them.
- 59:50Speaker 6: And he has a method that he would not allow
- 59:54Speaker 6: us to film. That is like his proprietary way to
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: make a fulsome point.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: And uh passed that on before he dies. A.
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: I mean, I hadn't talked. We're not that good of friends.
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: I mean, like I don't really talk to him about
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: dying and stuff. But uh, but he's he's a great guy.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: So maybe he does well. It's like a trade secret.
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: It's like if you it's his business like he he does.
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: I mean, it's he does a lot of other stuff,
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: but he he sells like high end fosal points. You
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: can buy him from him, and uh, and so it's
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: it's like a trade secret that he developed. But what
- 1:00:37Speaker 6: he showed me was a jig that he made that
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: he flutes these sides so.
- 1:00:42Speaker 7: Very cool attached to.
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: Arrow shot.
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: Yeah, so this, yeah, this was the the era that
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: shot the bear with and and I got about like
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: eleven inches of penetration. The bear fell within sight. The
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: bear actually you can see it roll on camp just barely.
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: Did that goes through the shoulder blade.
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: It it didn't go through the shoulder blade that the
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: It did not go through the scapula, No, it did not.
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: It just barely missed the scapula. But it was a
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: it was the shot wasn't it was? It was a
- 1:01:17Speaker 6: good It did good. But I kind of short stroked
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: the bow when I shot it even so close. I
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: was not hurry and baron Nuca, my son killed a
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: bear out of the bear.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: Pit this year.
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: There's a film on METI, your YouTube channel about that,
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: a film.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Have you guys been nominated for any film awards for
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: these films?
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: So and not yet not yet. Me and Mark make
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: films though, did you see.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Mark Mark also a filmmaker.
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: Yeah, yes, Wisconsin Outdoors had a great idea to get
- 1:01:51Speaker 8: the official answer. I just started a poll. Films or episodes,
- 1:01:55Speaker 8: please get your opinion in.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: Look a show would wouldn't tell episodic content and we
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: don't make episodic content anymore, at least us.
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: I mean when there was like hunting with Yanni, you know,
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: you know whatever they called it.
- 1:02:12Speaker 16: All you do is just take away the title of
- 1:02:16Speaker 16: the grouping of your episodes and they become films, is
- 1:02:19Speaker 16: what you're saying, Yanny.
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: It's just like so many things in life. You know,
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: It's like you're either a turkey hunter or you're a
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: turkey hunter.
- 1:02:31Speaker 8: A tight pole, tight pole, get your votes in and
- 1:02:33Speaker 8: so you can make a difference.
- 1:02:35Speaker 11: Is that.
- 1:02:37Speaker 6: What me and Mark do is an art?
- 1:02:40Speaker 7: But what Yanni's does?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: I mean by his own.
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: Proclamation, I'm not saying I think Yanni makes art. Maybe
- 1:02:48Speaker 6: I think Yanni makes films. He's he's the one that's
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: arguing with me.
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: Okay, if you're not going to fight, we're going on.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: One last question.
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: Trying to make these yet oh yeah, well not false
- 1:03:03Speaker 6: some points. He can nap, though, he can he can
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: make a functional point.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: I've seen him napping.
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, good napper too, but.
- 1:03:11Speaker 7: Nap all Right, here we go.
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: This is mine right here, and this is as I
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: so eloquently spoke to my friend Corey Colkins about it.
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: He said, what you bring it for show and tell?
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: And I said an elk fang And he said, is
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: that anything like an elk ivory? Like yeah, or that
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: you can call it that too. But this is this
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: is exactly what this is. And this was from my
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: first one and only Elk that I killed in two
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: thousand and eleven, and there is a crazy story about
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: how all that came down. First, I'm going to show
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: you the video and I'm going to tell you what's
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: going on. We get the video.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: This is the video from a film from twenty eleven.
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: This is not a film.
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: Listen, Oh this is good. Did you ever score this bull? Yeah?
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: He was two inches off poping yond.
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: All right? Now listen, listen, listen, help here? Can you
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: pause it right there to take a shot?
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Now?
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: Did y'all hear that click?
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: That audible click?
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: Did you hear that?
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Oh? No, I just heard the bugle?
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: Well, he like half he like three quarter bugles and
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: then got spooked by something.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: And there was For the folks that can't they can't
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: see this this this bulls walked into a water and
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: hole and from where he's at right there, he is
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: nineteen yards away from me.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: Broadside, and I had there was a blind.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: Now we're in the window open and got a couple
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: of bushes in front of us. We're on a real
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: steep grade, and the cameraman, the guy that's filming is
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: sitting right to my front the way he just had
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: to sit angle in front of me instead of behind
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: me because of where we were. And when that elk
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: walked up there and was dream and when they started bugling,
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: my guy, the guy was hunting with, said, when he
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: starts bugling, go ahead and pull back. Said lots of
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: times they won't see it. Now. Whether or not that's
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: true or not, I don't know. I was in a
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: pretty good spot, but he said he's going to be occupied,
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: so get you bow back. Well, I was holding that
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: bow and I was holding the arrow onto the arrow
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: rest with my left hand. I had my index finger
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: over the top of that arrow, and I pulled that
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: bow back so fast I pulled the string out of
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: the knock.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: So the arrow was just setting knock out of the arrow.
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and no, I just pulled the string out
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: of the knock. It's the arrow was intact. And I
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: turned loose with my finger because I went crazy and
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: lost my mind and thought that would help. And that arrow,
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: that audible click you here is that arrow falling off
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: and hitting the riser and it's hung in.
- 1:05:53Speaker 7: The arrow rest.
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: And if you can turn the audio up loud, you
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: can hear me say talk to the camera man and
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: who can't see it because he's partially in front of
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: me and looking at the camera. I can't shoot him.
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: And he's like, why not? I said, my ar come
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: off my string and he says put it back on.
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: He said I can't. He said why not? And he
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: turned and looked and he saw me at full draw
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: with a blank and that arrow hanging off, and he
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: reached and grabbed that arrow with his left hand and
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: stuck it back on there and what wi that? And
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: you're going to watch what happens? Another bull saved us.
- 1:06:31Speaker 6: We've gone back.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: Listen for the click.
- 1:06:33Speaker 8: I went back a few seconds.
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: Oh now I'm holding I'm at full draw holding a
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: blank right there.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: That bull saved my hunt right there.
- 1:06:53Speaker 6: Because he took his attention. Oh it did he fully?
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: Now he started. This is when when the era of
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: things going on, Because you see the camera guy's not
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: following following the bull. Now bam, he's right there. And
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: now we're talking how far is he is? He forty five?
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Twenty five?
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: Now he's like thirty something, he's like forty right there.
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: But I had measured, I had ranged a stick up
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: there at fifty yards and you'll see it right there.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that stick was sticky getting away.
- 1:07:28Speaker 6: Did your mouth stop?
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: Yep ooh that'll do it.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Arrow it was.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: He was at fifty yards.
- 1:07:39Speaker 6: Oh, let's see reason twenty eleven.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: Oh look at that beardless Oh my goodness, shaker, I'm
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: all about to lose my mind.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: He was holding his breath the entire time.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: Looks like just the start Yep, there he is.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: That was seventy yards from from where I was sitting.
- 1:08:03Speaker 7: Incredible.
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a great he Uh that era hit
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: left uh, hit liver, left lung and you could have
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: not more center punched his heart than.
- 1:08:15Speaker 6: That as the heck of a shot.
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it was. It was fun, a crazy deal, crazy experience.
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: When I'm ready to do again sometime, all right.
- 1:08:25Speaker 8: Boys, Uh, do one more quick round of feedback here?
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, abs, yeah, it sounds good.
- 1:08:30Speaker 16: Uh.
- 1:08:31Speaker 8: Let's see here, Mark, I can't speak to this. Maybe
- 1:08:34Speaker 8: you can, Kevin says, have you been up north near
- 1:08:36Speaker 8: Gaylord and seen the forest devastation. How do you think
- 1:08:38Speaker 8: this will impact deer hunting?
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: Sorry, I have nothing up there.
- 1:08:41Speaker 16: Okay, what is he talking about? Those storms that come
- 1:08:44Speaker 16: through must be well, I'll answer for Mark Kevin. I
- 1:08:49Speaker 16: think it's gonna be great for the deer hunting. It's
- 1:08:51Speaker 16: gonna make it thick and wooly in there, and disturbance.
- 1:08:55Speaker 16: Disturbance is always a good thing, So don't look at it.
- 1:08:58Speaker 16: It looks bad to your eyes, which is why he's
- 1:09:00Speaker 16: calling it devastation, But in all honesty, is probably gonna
- 1:09:03Speaker 16: be great.
- 1:09:04Speaker 6: For not just the other Nature calls it a Tuesday,
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: that's right.
- 1:09:07Speaker 8: Chase asks, well, if he says, Clay Brant, my buddy
- 1:09:11Speaker 8: is on day three of getting his butt whooped in
- 1:09:12Speaker 8: the land between the Lakes Kentucky, and he tips on
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: how to bag one of those southern deep woods thunder chickens.
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: Man, you gotta hang on from from that latitude. I've
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: been talking to folks. Clay's been talking to folks. The
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: hens are starting to get away from them up there.
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: So just if he's on turkeys, just hanging there with him,
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: Eventually you're gonna catch one.
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: By on all day. I think guys if they go
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: out and they don't hear birds and they're like, man,
- 1:09:37Speaker 6: it's not that you know is doing it.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: Yeah, if you got on all day, I think it
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: is there.
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: I think it is there. I mean, uh, I heard
- 1:09:45Speaker 6: some guys killing birds late in the evening that didn't
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: gobble in the morning.
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: Yeah. I men, reed got on one the other day
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: at ten twenty in the morning. Normally you hear a
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: turkey gobble at ten twenty. He's going he's gonna get
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: to ride in the truck. It didn't happen because of
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: the in situation, But I would just say, you just
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: got to hang in there.
- 1:10:05Speaker 8: Cool, Wayne says Phil. You got to address the dude
- 1:10:08Speaker 8: wipe's conspiracy in the Q and a portion if you
- 1:10:10Speaker 8: guys don't know. People think that I sound like the
- 1:10:12Speaker 8: guy who sings the dude wipes jingle that's that interrupts
- 1:10:15Speaker 8: all of these shows every single week. I legally cannot say.
- 1:10:20Speaker 8: I will say that when I want to feel a
- 1:10:21Speaker 8: little more fresh down there, I only reach for one product.
- 1:10:24Speaker 8: What product is that? I can't say dude wipes. Send
- 1:10:27Speaker 8: a meat meat eat or some money, maybe a sponsorship
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: and I will be able to say, Clay, how's your
- 1:10:35Speaker 8: book coming along? When can we get a sneak peek?
- 1:10:37Speaker 6: Oh man, the book. We're in hot pursuit of a
- 1:10:42Speaker 6: great book on the American Black Bear. I mean we're
- 1:10:45Speaker 6: like in the heart of it, and but it's still
- 1:10:48Speaker 6: it's still weighs out. I mean as far as the
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: sneak peek, I'm gonna be dropping a few nuggets here
- 1:10:55Speaker 6: and there. But uh, yeah, thanks for asking.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: No official timeline, Yeah, well.
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: No, yeah, ruggets on the nuggets, that's right. Yeah, it's
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: coming along good though.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: We got a little nugget last night at dinner.
- 1:11:09Speaker 6: It was very interesting about put Mark to sleep. Come on, No,
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: I'll be glad. I'll be glad to recount that.
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: No, No, what's next, Phil.
- 1:11:22Speaker 8: I'll feel this one for Jordan Saillers because we've had
- 1:11:24Speaker 8: a few questions about his awesome Hunting Cold Case episode
- 1:11:29Speaker 8: that we dropped earlier. There are no concrete plans, but
- 1:11:32Speaker 8: we loved it. Listeners seem to love it. It was
- 1:11:35Speaker 8: really well done, so I can almost guarantee that there
- 1:11:39Speaker 8: will be some in the future. We just do not
- 1:11:40Speaker 8: know when. But just like, send Jordan your love on
- 1:11:43Speaker 8: Instagram or something.
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd like to add that I had very little
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: to do with that. Jordan did that from the ground
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: up and did an absolute excellent job. It was really
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: really good. Research was awesome. The way he presented it
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: was good, and I was I was really proud of
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: how that turned out.
- 1:11:59Speaker 8: Question from Keith last year, I snort weezed in three
- 1:12:03Speaker 8: mature bucks. None gave me a good shot opportunity. I'm
- 1:12:05Speaker 8: considering getting a decoy. Should I go with a buck
- 1:12:07Speaker 8: or dough?
- 1:12:09Speaker 7: Personally, I'd go with a buck.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: I think in that kind of case where you're having
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: success getting bucks interested in the snort wheeze, that means
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: there's a lot of competition in the area. Those bucks
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: are riled up, they want to take on their competition
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: and they just need to see. Just like turkey hunt,
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: they need that final thing to get them to commit
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: into shooting range, and a buck would likely be the
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: thing that would do that. I think in most cases
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: a buck decoy is the better option, and it's a
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: lot of fun watching a buck come into a buck
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: decoy circling in all bristled.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: Up and ornery years laid back.
- 1:12:43Speaker 7: Yeah, hard to beat that.
- 1:12:45Speaker 8: Favorite off season outdoor activities besides fishing? Is there any
- 1:12:50Speaker 8: any other hobbies? Rodden mules, matt Remy.
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: A coonhut year round, proud instead. I do that a
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: lot this time of year. As a matter of fact.
- 1:13:03Speaker 7: Camping, hiking, backpacking, that's our thing.
- 1:13:07Speaker 8: Cool. Uh, you know what, I think that was a
- 1:13:10Speaker 8: pretty good show. What do you guys think?
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: Awesome? Hey, Mark, Clay bow Yanni, thanks for trespassing, Phil Corey.
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: This was a good deal, a good time. I appreciate
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: everybody watching. You'll be tuning in next week when somebody
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: will be hosting them will be nearly as handsome as me,
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: and probably times
