- Amanda: What is up, guys? Welcome back to another episode of Let's Talk Football Married Edition. You know the drill at this point, your new favorite place for all things fantasy football. NFL hot takes, some questionable opinions, and just a little bit of marital drama to keep things interesting. We're your hosts, Amanda Andrew. We're recording this episode on August 28th, and our first fantasy football draft is literally this weekend. So super excited that drafts are up. In action and ready to go. Hopefully, waiting as long as possible. That way you don't have any other injury reports coming out. And if you're not watching on YouTube and you're on Spotify, Drew Black has his hat turned back today. And I gotta tell ya, he looks fine as hell, okay? Ladies, I know you all can relate. A backwards hat just it does something, okay? Specifically a backwards hat and add like a tool belt and like a drill on the tool. It's it's hot, it's hot as hell. So you look great today, babe. You're looking good. Drew: Well thank you. I appreciate it very much. I would love Amanda: Hehehehe Drew: to say the same, except that you're wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers sweatshirt and you know, it's not the most attractive sweater for me being a Browns fan and being super jealous of all your team success. Amanda: Well, shit happens. You know what? It it is what it is. I'll take my I'll take my loss on that one and and we'll cut and run from it. All right, let's trip. Ew, no, Drew: you'd look great in a brown sweater if we can get you one of those. Amanda: I look really effing bad in brown. So also your team's colors are just atrocious. I don't want to wear brown. I don't want to wear orange. It's terrible. Drew: Agreed. Amanda: Now don't get me wrong, yellow is not like my favorite color in the world, but every other color can dampen down the yellow and I'm good to go. Your team Arguably worst colors in the NFL. Drew: Yeah, I would agree. It's pretty Amanda: Yeah, yeah. Drew: horrible. Amanda: Did you see some of the what is it rivalry jerseys released so far? Drew: Yeah, I'd have to remember. Yeah, I like the Texans. I know I I know I like that one, Amanda: Who some of are sexy. Texans, yes. Drew: which they just do a great job with every uniform combination they've come out with. Amanda: They really do. The Titans looked good. I think the Titans had one that looked pretty good. Drew: I don't remember the Titans one very much. I know there's a couple that I really hated. Amanda: There was a well yeah, there's gonna I can't wait for the worst like the banana uniforms last year for the Chargers. I'm intrigued to see who will have officially the worst jerseys of the year this year or uniforms of the year this year. Drew: Yeah, I think it was the Colts. I don't think I like the Colts very much. Yeah, I dun Amanda: they're just like a grey. It's just gray. Mm-hmm. Drew: They had a black one last year or the year before. I didn't like that either. Like I just Amanda: Mm mm. Drew: I don't they're they just need to stick with their normal traditional uniforms. Amanda: Yes. It's kind of like like the Giants. Like just stick to your traditional colors. Like it's just classic coloring. Don't Drew: The Giants need to go back to their old helmet, the the script giants on the side, or it's not script but Amanda: With yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Drew: it like written out. It that that the eighties helmet, it that's the best helmet. It's slightly darker too. I like that a lot. Amanda: It's like the New England helmet with that little guy on it. I love that one. Drew: Yeah. New England I I think it's I think it's New England Pat is his name. Yeah. Amanda: He's awesome. And then the Dreamsicle. Is it Tampa Bay? They Dreamsicle. Those are good. Epic, epic uniforms. I I'm Drew: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. yeah. Amanda: a I'm a big sucker for a solid NFL uniform situation. So I always love to dive into that as the year goes on. And we'll claim our ugliest jerseys of the year here once we see a little bit more of a sub what was the didn't the Steelers some ugly yeah, they had those flesh colored pants last year and it all looked like they were Winnie the Pooh. And it was terrible. It was bad. Drew: the Green Bay and Chicago, their rivalry uniforms this year have like old flesh colored pants. I it looks awkward. Yeah, it's weird. Yeah, it's weird. Amanda: Why? Why? Very it it looks like only t shirt style. It's like when a woman wears very flesh colored leggings and you double take. You're like, does she have pants on? nope, they these all grown men do indeed have pants on and I didn't need to see all that. I don't need to see all that. Drew: Yeah, it's weird. Amanda: All right. Well let's get into some news and updates. Break it down for me. Anything notable at this point. Drew: the biggest one I believe would be this Josh Jacobs. he had those offseason issues and it just came out that over the last couple of days that he has been charged with two misdemeanors. so I think he'll be suspended by the NFL. the the Green Bay has even come out and said that they're basically preparing for Jacobs to miss some time this year, so I I'm pretty sure he will be suspen suspended. I I believe the Rams are also preparing for Puka to get suspended for at least a game. So I think that might happen as well. Although Puka I believe will be a game. Josh Jacobs could be longer. we'll get to Josh Jacobs a little bit later as well. 'cause his he hasn't really had a very good preseason either. So I would be not drafting Josh Jacobs this year. He'd be a do not draft on my board for multiple reasons. One is the suspension uncertainty, and then also because he just hasn't looked great this preseason. Ash and Gente should be good to go early in the season, maybe week one. the the Raiders are being pretty coy on him right now, but he's not a do not draft for me. I I I'll still take him. he just might be a few spots lower on my draft board. and then injury concern, Jamar Chase went down at practice but he's fine. He said he could have went back out and and played if he needed to, that they were just holding him out as a precaution. So if you saw any news on that, he he's good to go. Amanda: I saw there's some nasty hits too. I saw Trey McBride get fucking lit up in a practice because Jacoby just threw a unfortunate ball. Like just not a good ball. Hospital ball. Drew: Yeah, it's it's it's called a hospital ball. Yeah, it's it's the Derek the Derek Carr special. That's what he always Amanda: Whew. Drew: used to do is throw hospital balls. Amanda: It was actually terrifying. And I was like, Jesus Pizza. Yeah. Not not so great. Hopefully everybody stays healthy for the season here and we can see some rally back. all right. Well, before we jump into the meat and potatoes, we are gonna be talking today about our ride or die. So we're officially gonna tell you who we are staking our flag on for the year. And we're also gonna go over some potential breakouts on the season, players that we think just have like. A really nice cleared path towards breaking out everything happened that could have happened good for this player, which gives them a great path forward for what we're talking about, fantasy football. Before we do that, I was thinking about this on a long run. So I run a lot of miles and I always get some very strange thoughts. I think about weird things like squirrels and why they might be albino squirrels and why they have puffy tails, but I also think about fantasy football. And I was thinking any veteran players that you think on your radar. That are currently being overlooked in drafts, being slept on, being pushed down the draft board, that are going to have like a ton of fantasy value this year. Kind of like Javante Williams and Matthew Stafford last year, right? Both of these players were heavily slept on. Javante was the 38th running back off the board last year. Matthew Stafford was drafted as the quarterback 23 and finished quarterback one. Javante finished running back 11. Anyone you see as a veteran status in that same vein this year? Drew: yeah, there's a few names that I see. so we've talked about Dallas Goddard. he kind of did the same thing last year. he is going off the boards at the tight end fourteen right now in the eleventh round. he in my opinion is gonna finish much better than the tight end fourteen. Again, we talked about the difference between finishing tight end six and finishing tight end fourteen is not that big of a difference, or at least it hasn't been in in recent years. however you can get him so much later. and I just think they're gonna use the crap out of him this year. I think they're gonna have to. They already have injuries at their wide receiver position. Jalen Hurts likes throwing to the tight end, especially on little out routes like look, he's not gonna make these massive forty, fifty yard catches. He's not breaking away from people, but he's a great red zone target. So I could see him finishing quite a bit higher than the tight end fourteen that he's being drafted right now. another one would be Jordan Love. he's been he's being drafted as the QB eighteen right now, basically being undrafted. nobody's looking to have him on his on on your on their team. look, Josh Jacobs probably gonna be suspended, hasn't looked great in in the preseason so far, like I just said in the last segment. I think they're gonna have to throw the ball more. he was the QB five in twenty twenty three. He had five hundred and seventy-nine pass attempts. His attempts have dropped. They've been four hundred and twenty-five and four hundred and thirty-nine attempts the last two years. And guess what? That coincided with them bringing Josh Jacobs in two years ago. So if Josh Jacobs gets suspended or isn't as efficient as he was, they're gonna have to throw the ball again and more. I think those attempts get back up into the high fours. maybe even crosses the five hundred attempts again. they also quit throwing the ball in the red zone. Josh Jacobs arrived, really good red zone back, at least has been, but his efficiency has been dropping over the last two years. So those two things together, I believe, is gonna cause Green Bay to start throwing the football more like they did a couple years ago. I could see him easily finishing as a back end QB one somewhere in the you know, I think the ceiling might be the QB you know, seven or eight. but that that's a lot higher than the QB eighteen that he's going right now. And, you know, I don't think his ceiling is Matthew Stafford, because I don't think that Jordan Love can throw for 45 touchdowns. But if he throws for 35 touchdowns, runs in a couple more, which I think it's very possible, he will be a top ten quarterback. So I think he's gonna have a lot of value there, especially because he's going undrafted. I I think you can pick him up in the waiver wire or Amanda: Mm-hmm. Drew: With one of your last picks of the draft, and the value that you have there because you're not taking him over other guys early in the draft is is very high. Amanda: Yeah. Drew: and the last guy I have is Terry McLaurin. he's going as the wide receiver 24 in the fifth round right now. you just don't hear a lot about him. Last year was it was awful. He only played Amanda: The whole offense was awful too. Drew: yeah, the offense was bad. Jaden Daniels was hurt most of the year, so he was in and out of the lineup. Terry McLaurin was hurt. He only played ten games. They only played three games together last year. So when McLaurin was out there, he didn't have Jaden Daniels for most of the time. And when Jaden was there, Terry wasn't there for most of the time. So two years ago, if you just scrap last year altogether, Terry was wide receiver seven. And that was the only year that they played together for the entire year. And he finished wide receiver seven. So I I think the ability's still there. I think Terry still has a couple years left and just nobody's really talking about him. so I I I think he can easily finish, you know, wide receiver. I think he can finish as a wide receiver one like he did two years ago and and he's going as the wide receiver twenty four. So that kind of feels a bit Javante ish like last year. Amanda: Little Javante. She knows I think one other guy I might add the list there is Boneyx. obviously never had a good threat for his deep ball, and now he has Jalen Waddle for deep ball catches. So I I would be he you can get him sneaky late in the draft too. I think it's a really solid potentially s good stack for your your team too, quarterback wide receiver wise. So I might add him to the list. Obviously, this is what year three for Bonex. Get him a little bit more comfortable. Sean Payton there again. I think that could be another veteran that surprises all of us from a fantasy perspective this year as well. Drew: Yeah, that's what you call a post hype sleeper, Bo Nicks. So post hype sleeper, so Amanda: Mm. Post type. Drew: he was one that was kind of a sleeper going into last year that a lot of people were targeting, kind of taking that step in a year or two, and then didn't have a great fantasy season. So you're post the hype and then you're kind of a sleeper again, and it tends to work out pretty well because their values have dropped so far. That doesn't mean he'll be a, you know, top five quarterback. It just means that Typically those guys that were hyped up so much and then fell flat, most of them after they fall flat end up beating their ADP the year after that. That also his ADP's low enough to where he could still be irrelevant in fantasy and be better than his ADP. But typically that's the way that happens. Amanda: Yeah. I did see a I think it was a a tweet or something on Instagram about Marvin Harrison. He has hate comments on the inside of his locker, from from Twitter and from social media, et cetera. And apparently he's had a pretty good, you know, training camp and preseason and he's looked pretty good. and they said, Hey, maybe the the hate comments are fueling his energy to show up and show out. So I love a little, I'm like you know, sadistic to my core when it comes to motivation. And so anything like that really gets me hyped up. I'm like, yeah, use people's dislike to you to prove them wrong. Drew: Mm-hmm. Amanda: I'm in, baby. That's all I need to to like a player. So I thought that was a a good one too. All right. Well we're gonna move right into our ride or dice here. Really basic explanation of what this is is just these are guys that we formally believe in this year and we think are going to have fantastic years. Essentially, we're just planting our flags on these players and saying these are the guys we're gonna ride with all year because we think they're gonna have badass seasons. Now, again, obviously it's an unpredictable situation, but I'm gonna hedge my bets on these guys and they're guys that we trust. Drew: Yeah, they're the guys that we feel the strongest about, based upon, you know, a couple factors. One, who they are and and how good of a player we think they are, but also where they're going in drafts. So, like, we're not gonna take Jameer Gibbs. Like, he's the consensus one one. We both believe in him, but so does everybody else. So these are guys that not everybody believes in, but we believe in them. so to kick us off, Amanda, who was your first ride or die? Amanda: Yeah, it's fitting because we were just talking about quarterbacks. My first ride or die is none other than Trevor Lawrence himself. Obviously, we saw Trevor Lawrence have an amazing season last year, specifically getting more w weapons in his offense. We saw like Parker Washington emerge as kind of like maybe a temp situation and then come out and really be an elite wide receiver to pair with Trevor Lawrence after obviously we saw I just blanked on his name. Travis Hunter get hurt and leave, and Jacoby Myers came in and became relevant in the offense. And we saw Trevor Lawrence actually be used the way that we really needed him to be used. He was using his body, he was running, he was getting in the end zone. And if there's anything that just makes my heart happy, is when my quarterback also likes to score touchdowns himself, and Trevor Lawrence is a big ass motherfucker and can get into the end zone. His ADP, he's getting drafted in the ninth round. Like Fucking disrespect on this man's name. Second year in that offensive scheme. So even more comfort. Trevor Lawrence being slept on. He is my very first ride or die hands down. Drew: All right, very good. I I like it. I like Trevor Lawrence. I I agree with that, you know. Not strongly enough to make him a ride or die for myself, but I do believe he's a good pick this year. all right, so my first one this year comes as no surprise to anybody who's been listening to us. it's Kenneth Walker. I I've mentioned so many times on all of our podcasts so far and you know, all of our socials. I I love Kenneth Walker. I have for years I've been waiting for him to break free of what Seattle's been doing to him for years. And, you know, my love for Kenneth Walker has caused me to hate another man, which is Zach Charbonnet. And again, Amanda: Ha ha ha. Drew: nothing to do with Zach Charbonnet. I'm sure he's a wonderful person, but just didn't like that they kept giving him the ball over Kenneth Walker. so new team this year going from Seattle winning the Super Bowl, Super MVP. Now he's on the Kansas City Chiefs. He's with Andy Reid. Andy Reid has had great running backs in the past. For those of you who have only been following football for a few years now, you might only see Andy Reed's offenses as this passing attack, high flying offense, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelsey, Tyreek Hill. That's not the norm for Andy Reid. Andy Reid has had a ton of running backs have great success in the past. Shady McCoy was, you know, a fantasy darling for years, back with the Eagles and then again with the Chiefs. Andy Reid even came out and said, like, we didn't bring Kenneth Walker in just to run the football. We also want to get him the ball in the passing w game. We want to get him the ball in open field. That's the perfect thing that you can get from a coach because pass receiving work is worth so much in fantasy, especially from the running back position. they're gonna have him on the field all the time, as much as they can. He's gonna do goal line, he's gonna do receiving work, third down work, first down work. He's gonna get everything. and what he did last year at the end of the year when he was given all the work. was incredible. So the last six games, that's three in the regular season and three in the playoffs, he was amazing. He averaged twenty points per game and he played amazing competition every one of those games. So it wasn't like he was playing scrubs. He was play I mean three games in the playoffs he was like twenty four points per game. And that's against the best competition in the NFL. So he's just he's amazing. The only thing is is he gonna stay healthy the whole season? I don't buy into the he's been hurt forever thing. I I Amanda: So much decorum of like, but he split the backfield because if he didn't, he'd get hurt if he'd given all the volume, and yeah, we don't. Drew: Yeah, it's a chicken or the egg. Would he have? I don't know. He was never given the opportunity to have the ball the entire time. And early in his career, he was a little inefficient and he got hurt, banged up a little bit more. They were an awful offensive line in Seattle up until basically last year. The year before they got a little better, but last year there was the first year where they didn't have a terrible offensive line. So, you know, I I I don't buy into any of that stuff. It's not like it's lingering issues that have continued to pop up, so I'm I'm Amanda: So much of that you can worry about too before you're just your entire team, you're picking players that you're might not get hurt. You don't have anybody on your fantasy football Drew: Yeah. Amanda: team at that point because everyone's had an injury risk. Like, you know, Olave last year, people didn't draft him because of concussion issues, and he had a fantastic year as a wide receiver. So it's just there's only so much you can consider before it's just like head your bets, stay true to your dudes, right? All right. Drew: Yeah. Absolutely. So who do you got next? Amanda: my next wide receiver. I wish I could pick a wide receiver from my favorite team, the Steelers, but unfortunately I cannot do that. So I have to go with a rival team. But Zay Flowers is my ride or die and wide receiver Zay Flowers for the Baltimore Ravens. I think he's a sneaky, good fourth-round pick, right? He's not going to a fourth round for ADP. Obviously, he's really like the only sincere threat from a wide receiver room on the Baltimore Ravens. It's him and a bunch of dudes. Right. We don't have a bunch of other guys that are going to threat. I know there's a rookie that's come in. He's had a very good training camp. Rumors are he could have potential to get on the field early because there are some suspension issues for Rashad Bateman. But Rashad Bateman doesn't scare me against Zay Flowers. Zay Flowers is the guy. He had a great season last year, and it's a quietly great season with a hurt Lamar Jackson. This is a new offense. I think that's going to play into the strengths of Zay Flowers. And the only other passing threat we really have here is. Old ass Mark Andrews. And I'm not worried about it. if Mark Andrews goes down, they don't really have any other tight end options as the backup. It's a bunch of just randoms. And so I think this lays a really great scene for Zay Flowers. You can get him for the steal in the draft. And I just think that this is a consistent weekly wide receiver play that has the potential to absolutely dominate leagues as well. So Zay Flowers is my second ride or die option here, and really excited to see what that. New offense and healthy Lamar Jackson brings to the table as well because very, very intriguing in my opinion from a fantasy perspective. Drew: Yeah, he finished as the wide receiver seven last year, which is wild. It doesn't feel like it. Yeah, it doesn't feel like it at all. Mm mm. Amanda: Yeah. And like you say that and you're like, I'm sorry, what? Yes. Cause he wasn't talked about. No. He just was not raved upon because it was just kind of like a bore. I mean, they the that team was just they they struggled there for a while. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Drew: Yeah, Lamar was hurt a lot and they underachieved for what they should have done. I think for Zay, like if he scores eight touchdowns, which again, he's a small dude. He's not really a touchdown guy, at least hasn't been in his career. like if he gets four more touchdowns this year than he had last year and he was already the wide receiver seven and Lamar's healthy this year, Amanda: You're geeked. Yeah. Drew: I I mean, he could go even higher than that. I you know, I don't predict it. Just I don't know. I've never Loved the player, but he's produced. So it's Amanda: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Drew: yeah. Weird. All right. my second one, Tucker Kraft, tight Amanda: He's the dark horse, a quiet dark horse, let's say. Drew: end for the Green Bay Packers. Yes, he's coming off of an injury. I don't care. He was absolutely incredible last year, and I believe he's still going in drafts where you can get a really good value on him. he's you know going in the sixth round right now. Hopefully it stays there or drops a little bit. Hopefully the people in your league are a little scared off on the fact that he's coming off of an injury. we've already mentioned earlier, I think Jordan Love's gonna have a better year. I think they're gonna have to throw the football more. Loves throwing the ball to Tucker Kraft. Tucker Kraft made explosive plays last year. In the games last year, he played eight games, got hurt in the eighth game. He was the wide receiver two in points per game before the injury last year. That's amazing, right? He was averaging twelve point six points per game. He had six touchdowns in those eight games. I I think he's an incredible player. And at the tight end position, you've got those top four guys that are going pretty early. And then typically I say punt the position. He's the one guy that I say he's still a value where he's going in those middle rounds because I think he can finish and be ahead of some of those top four. I don't think he can be tight end one. but I think he could be tight end three or four. and and he could still be a positional advantage for you. So I absolutely love Tucker Kraft this year. I'll ride or die with him. Amanda: The craft craft mac and cheese, man. No, I I agree. Obviously, we saw so much great production from Tucker Kraft last year. I had him on my team and I was geeked. Right when he like really started to to heat up and then the ACL said, bye. And it was depressing as all. I was very sad after that game, I'm not gonna lie. but no, I agree. Seeing how much of a connection him and Jordan Love had last year, beginning of the year, and he's comes back healthy and that's again had just a bet on why we think. Jordan Love could potentially be a really, really nice, sneaky veteran pick deep in that draft or go undrafted altogether and be pulled off the waiver wire. All right, my last ride or die. Point of contention for me and my lovely husband here. But you know what? I'm just gonna stand 10 toes fucking down to this selection because like I could be waffle, waffle, waver, waver and let all the opinions get in my head about it. But you know what? Screw it, Devon Achan is my final ride or die. Listen, we can sit here and be super duper fucking concerned about the offense, but there's plenty of other offenses that I'm equally as scared about that players are still going hot on. I'm sorry. Bijan Robinson for the Atlanta Falcons, his offense could also be a cluster fuck. We don't know. We don't even know who the quarterback's gonna be yet. Maybe it is Michael Penix Jr. And how is that gonna imp if we're worried about that? Why are we worried about Achan? Right? They still got the same amount of games to play. Their defense is mid to low tier. Miami's defense, we always talk about our favorite thing is when the defenses kind of suck. Offense has to score more. All right. Let the offense go try to score more. Let's get them on the field more often. Give Devon Achan more opportunities with the ball. They have to play the same amount of games as everybody else. They're gonna figure something out at some point. He is the star of that team. I'm not sleeping on on him in the draft. If I can get him on my team, I will confidently do that and I'll ride with Javon A Chan through yeah, he they're gonna have a shitty season. I don't need Miami Dolphins to win for Devon A Chan to be relevant though. And I do believe he will still be relevant in this year for fantasy football. So Let's fucking go, Devon H and let's see what we can do, huh? Drew: That'll take me to my third ride or die. It'll be the new Devon Achan. so it'll kinda go into why I don't believe in Devon Achan this year and why I believe in Omarion Hampton, the running back for the Los Angeles Chargers. new Achan, right? It's got the same coach. McDaniels coming over from Miami to the Chargers to be the offensive coordinator. runs an outside zone scheme, which Very fast receivers are typically better at running. That fits Omar and Hampton the same way it fits fit Devon Achan. Omar and Hampton, also very good pass catcher out of the backfield. He was in college, just like Devon Achan was. drafted highly, great speed, again, good zone runner, good offensive line. They got both of their all pro tackles back in Alt and Staley, who were hurt last year. Has a quarterback who checks the ball down, Justin Herbert. Just like Tua did. Tua was a check down quarterback. Justin Herbert also checks the ball down. Remember what Austin Eckler did in Justin Herbert's rookie year. Austin Eckler was a top five running back because Justin Herbert checked the ball down a lot. So there's a lot of reasons why I love Omarion Hampton, and they were basically the same reasons why Devon Achan was so good in the in the two years, in his first two years. So that's how I see Omarion Hampton because I love the talent. And I see him as the new HN and you can still get him at a price that's not ridiculous. I mean, you're gonna have to take him at the beginning of the second, but he's not going in the top of the first. So I believe it it it's great value. you know, dream scenario if you love running backs, get Kenneth Walker and Omar and Hampton at the one twelve and two one turn. And, you know, you gotta wait a long time to get a receiver, which sucks, but I both of are amazing. So Amanda: Ellie, you like to do weird shit in Drew: I love Amari Hampton this year. Amanda: your drafts where you just wait to take shit and give everybody Drew: Mm-hmm. Amanda: unraveling anxiety, but you know, whatever. Uh-huh. Drew: I take the best value that's there. Amanda: Uh-huh. We did a mock go back and watch our mock draft because Drew just threw caution to the wind. And I could never, couldn't be me. I would need a Xanax before draft day to do that. My three rider dies are Trevor Lawrence. Zay Flowers and Devon A. Chan, while Drew hedges his bets on Kenneth Walker, Tucker Tuckercraft, and Armarion Hampton. We're gonna move on to our final segment and just talk a little bit about potential breakouts, some guys, and just have some dialogue on some players that we think could potentially have really, really great seasons. And again, like we talked about, either due to production last year, or they have just the path cleared for them to do that. And I'm gonna start with quarterback Tyler Shug. we watched him last year obviously come into a team and this team started one one and seven with Spencer Rattler. When Shuck took over, he went five and four with five top quarterback one finishes and nine starts. unreal for a rookie that we just didn't see I mean, no one really had the anticipation that he would come in and be that productive for the team. That means more than half of his starts finishing as a top 12 fantasy quarterback last year for those limited games that he ended up playing. In my opinion, there's only upside here. Second year with the team, again, more familiarity with Chris Olave and that offense. I think that's going to work well. We know Jordan Tyson did get hurt, but Jawan Johnson's back involved in that offense as well. They had great connection during the season. Also, they have the second easiest schedule for the year, which again only plays in favor of Tyler Shuck's second season in the NFL. I'm not saying that you're drafting him as your quarterback one, but I think this could be an insanely good quarterback steal in a late round. Again, we talk about not typically taking two quarterbacks, but if I'm nervous about my quarterback, late round quarterback options, hedging your bet on Tyler Shuck and seeing, hey, maybe I do have a starting quarterback every single week in this player, yeah, might just be really happy with it. Specifically, too, a little sneaky stack situation with him and Chris Olave. A lot of Drew: Mm-hmm. Amanda: good options for deep in your draft. We are not wasting draft capital on taking this guy and sitting him Drew: Yep. Amanda: on your bench and waiting to see if he has the same production he ended the year with. So I think Tyler Shuck is a just textbook potential breakout option here. Drew: Yeah, they also run a ton of plays. Ca Kellen Moore offenses run on average Amanda: Fast, yeah. Drew: the most plays in the NFL, so great opportunity. yeah, I love that one. All right, our second one's gonna be Byshal Tutin, running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars. currently listed as a co starter on the depth chart, with Chris Rodriguez. Look, Travis Etchyan Jr. is gone, vacating a ton of backfield work. Tuton was incredibly efficient last year in the opportunities that he got. If he's given more opportunities, you know, one plus one should be two. He should be very valuable in fantasy this year. love the situation. We've talked about the Jaguars offense. They have a ton of weapons. Liam Cohen is the coach. He's a very good offensive mind, always produces good running back numbers. He was with the the Buccaneers, Look, he just needs to win the backfield. So why we say potential breakout is because we both believe in the talent of Vishall Tutan. We just need to see him win the backfield. So going into the year fifty fifty split, we may not love the amount of touches he gets in a week, but if he produces getting ten, eleven, twelve touches in week one, two, three, you will see him start to get more and more touches throughout the year. Liam Cohen was there in Bucky's rookie year when Bucky took over for Rashad White. Rashad White was the starter, and then Bucky started playing better and was more efficient. Rashad White was less efficient. And you saw by the end of that year, Bucky was given all of the work. I believe that that can happen here if Byshall Tutin, like Liam Cohen, will play the guy that he believes is better. I believe Byshall Tutan is better. so you know, he's another potential breakout for us and again you're not breaking the bank with where you're getting him an ADP either. Amanda: No, I was gonna say his ADP is insane. I also just low key really want him, so I could maybe name my team always Tutin, because that's fucking funny and you know it. There's Drew: Yeah, there's a lot of good names you can do with him. Amanda: Boots Cootin Tutin. There's so many good names for Byshall Tutin. So alone, his name wins for me. All right, my next potential breakout is Jakori Krasky Merritt. This was a guy that was heavily talked about last year, potentially being able to make some waves and Injury issues and maybe some pass block issues that caused him to have to split and that that three split backfield for Washington last year was just a clusterfuck of who the hell is gonna be the running back. However, his ADP is 1006 right now, so you can get him in the 10th round. It's a steal, in my opinion, and every other running back listed in that depth chart is suffering an injury. They're all hurt. So that just opens up the floodgates for JCM to potentially have less competition in the backfield. And again, just to buy Shell Tutin's fact that we talked about, if he can prove himself, if he can take over and be effective in that backfield, does he win the job? And then pot stay as the lead back for Washington, he did lead the team in rushing touchdowns at eight touchdowns last year, which it is great. They were all within that five, five, or he handled 35 per point three percent of carries inside the five yard line. And that was in a split backfield. So if we can get a little bit less competition in the backfield due to injuries, if he can emerge as that top running back one, I think again, the floodgates open for JCM to be a fantasy winning running back that you can get at an absolute fucking steal deep in the draft. Drew: Absolutely. All right. Our next breakout candidate, Emeka Eggbuka, wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. you watched football at all last year, you heard of Emeka Eggbuka, right? Ohio State, former Ohio State receiver, first round pick last year, started out the year incredibly hot. A lot of touchdowns early, about halfway through the year, Mike Evans gets hurt, Baker, he gets hurt, and then Eggbuka doesn't do very well at the end of the year. A lot of uncatchable passes. I think the only reason that he is in the fifth round, fourth round ADP right now is because of the end of the year. to me, I'm thankful for that because I believe he's an incredible talent. I don't think the beginning of the year is a fluke at all. I believe the end of the year was. He was taking over Mike Evans' position. They were trying to put him in a role that he's not designed for. Different styles of football. They play different positions. One's an X receiver and one's a Z receiver. They were trying to have on the fly, they were trying to fill Mike Evans' role. They didn't have another player who could do it. So they moved Igbuka over. Baker couldn't hit the broadside of a barn at the end of last year because his shoulder was just completely destroyed. so healthy Baker this year, a very motivated Baker this year because he wants a new contract and he's being disrespected by the Buccaneers. Amanda: Underdogs, baby. Drew: Yes, and I I I trust Baker will play the best this year that he's ever played and an amazing receiver who is gonna be put in a position to succeed this year, which he wasn't done in the second half of last year. I believe he has the potential to be a wide receiver one this year. I think he could get up in the wide receiver five, six, seven range, and truly have a breakout season. just look at what JSN did. JSN, that was his third season last year. People were wondering if it was ever going to happen. Former Ohio State wide receiver, first round draft pick, tons of talent, but it wasn't really clicking in the first two years. All of a sudden, offense is offense changes a little bit. They get rid of DK. They make J JSN the number one receiver, the number one target, and everything clicks into place. Eggbuka, the offense is running through him this year. They are designing things for him. Mike Evans is gone, so I I believe he's a potential to just skyrocket this year. Amanda: Yeah, that's one of those things too we talk about. Like, don't let how last season ended damper your taste on this season. Like that's why his ADP is lower, is because everyone's looking at last year and nervous about it. But like trust it, right? Like he said, there's so many upsides for Eggbuka this year and it's worth it's worth betting on again. And again, it's just his second year in the NFL. Like, shit. Sometimes I'm like, we write these guys off so fucking fast. And I'm like, it's they they're just developing in a completely new situation. Give it a fucking second. Also, these are just children. They're young. Give them a hot second to develop in their sport too. That leads us into my our next potential breakout, which is Luther Burden. obviously, same a little bit with his his lowering his ADP a little bit. He's dealing with a groin injury. So he was out for all of preseason games, and they did say he should be good to go week one. But I think the fear of the ouchie groin has lowered his ADP and made people a little bit nervous, which is fair. I am not nervous, however. we saw him really light on fire on the back end of the year last year. He averaged nearly 64 yards per game from week 10 onward. So he definitely saw a lot more usage in the back end of the year. We really saw him come to life and connect with Caleb Williams as well. Second year, the Ben J Johnson offense, DJ Moore is gone, opening up more potential for Luther Burden. So again, where you can get him in the ADP, I think this is a no-brainer. And I want a piece of the bears. There's certain offenses we talk a lot about. The Ben Johnson offense has just been electric. It's been a part an offense that you want a part of in some way, shape, or form. And I think Luther Burden is the part of that offense you want the most, in my opinion. Has the most potential breakout possibility for the year. I know we still have Robunza there. But definitely looking far more keen on Luther Burden this year as a potential breakout option for the Chicago Bears. Drew: Yeah, I think that they both can, Burden and Adonze Adunze. I think either one could be a breakout. I don't think they both can be. I think either one can be because you still have Colson Lovell in there. Amanda: Correct. Mm-hmm. Drew: So that's kind of a shoot-your shot shot situation. Fortunately and unfortunately, you don't typically like to see injuries in the preseason. They miss camp time. It it's tough to come back from that. People don't realize how important camp is with you know, getting The continuity with your quarterback, with your team, the plays, what you guys want to run. but it did lower Luther Burden's ADP. It was getting a little ridiculous there for a while to where even I was like, Man, I love Luther Burden. I just I'll never have him on my teams because his ADP is getting too high. He's dropped now into the back end of the fifth round. He's getting close to a point where I'm gonna start taking shots and just be okay with him not being Very valuable maybe in the first couple of weeks while he's try Amanda: Yeah if Drew: still trying to build back into I believe what was a groin groin injury, was that what it was? Yeah. Amanda: Gorgon injury. Yeah. If I have enough steady wide receivers I can count on early in my draft too, that that to me is like someone who, if I'm comfortable letting him sit on my bench to like get a minute, get developed in Drew: Mm-hmm. Amanda: the offense, feel comfortable obviously taking some time off in preseason, fuck it. I'm fine with that. Drew: Yeah, in the f in the fifth, sixth round, I can afford to do that. Amanda: Mm-hmm. Drew: If I've got to draft him in the third or fourth, which is what his ADP was a month ago before the injury, he's my wide receiver one or two, and my team's like at that point I'm drafting him knowing that like I'm probably gonna lose the first two weeks. Well, I don't want to lose two weeks and just give him up because one of my top guys is is injured in the first couple weeks. So anyhow, all right, our last potential breakout is gonna be Marvin Harrison Jr. for the Cardinals. Again, this is a shoot your shot moment. We have no idea if he is the dude or not. He was in college, and then he just has not been in the pros. Is that his fault? Is that Kyler Murray's fault? Because Kyler Murray was an absolute turd the last two years with the Cardinals. and then that all of a sudden turned into Marv started dropping the ball and he had a huge confidence issue last year. I think that's fixed. Amanda: Mm-hmm. Drew: I think Kyler being gone helps a lot. I think Marv is gonna come into this year, he's gonna demand the football like a true wide receiver one needs to do. He's gonna say, Throw me the football, I'm the guy you drafted in the top ten, give me the football. And I think it's gonna work. The only worry part worrisome part I have with Marv this year is how long does Jacoby Brissett play? And when do they start Carson Beck? Because eventually they will make the switch. Like they're Amanda: Yep. Mm-hmm. Drew: gonna be a terrible football team, which means at some point they're gonna pull the veteran out and they're gonna see what the what they have in the rookie. Is Carson Beck good enough to give Marv enough value? I don't know. So that part scares me. But the potential for Marv is very high based on talent. So I'm willing to take a shot. to see what happens. Again, I'm not gonna be stacking this with a lot of potential, you know, I'm not taking more if I've got a really risky start to the draft Amanda: Mm. Drew: because he's also risky, but I think his potential still outweighs the risk in my opinion. Amanda: Hate in his heart. He's he's ready for it. He's fired up. He's dead set. I again, like mindset's so important. And like coming off of a couple not great seasons and a Drew: Uh-huh. Amanda: lot of shit talked about him, you either get beat down by that or you rise. and it seems like he's really like dead set to rise above and say, No, I'm gonna figure this shit out. I'm gonna still be elite and figure out a way to make it happen. And I love to see it. I love to see it. All right, well, that is all we have for our potential breakouts. Obviously, there could be more potential breakouts, but those are the ones that we are hedging our bets on mostly this year for fantasy football. That wraps up our episode for today. but we do have some exciting episodes in the future. We have a ton to look back on. Because if you didn't know, fantasy football starts in like T minus two weeks, week and a half, ten days, something like that. Drew: yeah, it's less than that. Today's yeah. It's f twelve days. Yep. Amanda: Seven, eight, nine, ten, twelve. T minus twelve days, baby. And if you didn't know the first game, yes, indeed, is on a fucking Wednesday. But that's okay.
