- 0:30Speaker 2: But guess what winds in the east coming in? Something win?
- 0:39Speaker 2: It's autumn, thank fu.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Yeah, sales, sales needed a wine.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Sales needed this win.
- 0:46Speaker 3: But at the same time, at the time of recording,
- 0:49Speaker 3: it's still very warm. Usually is at the beginning of autumn.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We've got a heat wave coming in over the weekends
- 0:55Speaker 3: when it switches it up, yeah, when that chill through.
- 0:59Speaker 1: So today we are talking our Hot Chick Autumn Checklist.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So we do this at the start of every season
- 1:07Speaker 1: because we're a slut for a checklist.
- 1:08Speaker 2: And so you chicks for a checklist. You guys love
- 1:12Speaker 2: these episodes.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Yeah, but before we get into the episode, what is
- 1:16Speaker 1: your obsession of the week?
- 1:18Speaker 3: Okay, mine is a quick one. It's the Who's the Asshole?
- 1:22Speaker 3: Podcast hosted by Katier of Trixy and Cartier fame.
- 1:27Speaker 2: What how do I not know about that?
- 1:29Speaker 3: So if you are a fan of RuPaul's drag Race
- 1:32Speaker 3: and Cartier and Trixy and whatnot, you may have seen this.
- 1:36Speaker 3: It's actually a grinder podcast, So it's a it's a
- 1:39Speaker 3: branded stop I Love I Love this, yeah, hosted by
- 1:44Speaker 3: Cartier and every week she has a different guest and
- 1:48Speaker 3: the lineup has been amazing so far. She's had Lisa Rinner,
- 1:52Speaker 3: Adam Lambert, bow and Yang and got Mick as well,
- 1:56Speaker 3: and it's so so funny, So definitely.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Check it out. Okay, my obsession, which I've also asked
- 2:04Speaker 1: the chicks their opinion on this, and it is the
- 2:07Speaker 1: Pretty Little Thing rebrand. This is like absolutely my obsession
- 2:13Speaker 1: because I have read a bunch of articles and I'm
- 2:16Speaker 1: just really trying to understand what the goal was here,
- 2:21Speaker 1: because this rebrand has essentially just fallen flat.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 1: So to give a bit of context, Pretty Little Thing
- 2:29Speaker 1: also known as PLT, once synonymous with like vibrand body
- 2:34Speaker 1: Con Club where like I think I befa Baby Raves
- 2:38Speaker 1: has undergone this dramatic transformation. So the fast Fashioned Giant
- 2:44Speaker 1: has rebranded and traded its flashy bold colored party outfits
- 2:49Speaker 1: for a more muted, elevated neutrals esthetics and beyond.
- 2:54Speaker 2: This like color palette shift.
- 2:56Speaker 1: This rebrand has sparked a much broader conversation about fast
- 3:02Speaker 1: fashion's evolving landscape and the underlying messages, especially within the
- 3:07Speaker 1: political landscape.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And the tradwife trend.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And there's this quote from The New Feminist UK that
- 3:15Speaker 1: I was laughing but like not funny hah, half funny weird,
- 3:18Speaker 1: and it said basically the rebrand is old money cosplay
- 3:22Speaker 1: but polyester. So the argument here isn't about style, but
- 3:27Speaker 1: I think what it represents. And historically old money fashion,
- 3:31Speaker 1: which is what this rebrand is absolutely going for, has
- 3:35Speaker 1: been associated with exclusivity, wealth and social hierarchy and the
- 3:39Speaker 1: oltra feminine, hyper sexy styles of the twenty tens that
- 3:42Speaker 1: was very pretty little thing has faded away and moved
- 3:46Speaker 1: towards this very conservative aesthetic, which is where I think
- 3:51Speaker 1: a lot of concern and backlash rightfully so is coming from.
- 3:56Speaker 1: And TikTok creator It's Sophie Milner said in a video,
- 4:00Speaker 1: really sinister happening right now. Plt's rebrand to a fake
- 4:04Speaker 1: old money aesthetic is saying a lot about fashion right
- 4:06Speaker 1: now and the shift towards conservatism in the way women
- 4:10Speaker 1: are starting to act and move in society, and another
- 4:13Speaker 1: Twitter user also said every model is skinny, every model
- 4:17Speaker 1: is white. Minus one and plus sizes are basically gone.
- 4:21Speaker 1: This rebrand feels elitist and racist.
- 4:23Speaker 2: This is terrible. I have to say.
- 4:26Speaker 1: When I went and looked on the site, I did
- 4:28Speaker 1: feel like the representation that was on Pretty Little Thing
- 4:33Speaker 1: had definitely lessened. It did feel like there was one
- 4:38Speaker 1: aesthetic and one thing they were going for. And I
- 4:41Speaker 1: do think one thing that Pretty Little Thing was often
- 4:44Speaker 1: critiqued for was being basically a hub of micro trends. Right,
- 4:47Speaker 1: but is this not just yet another trend? Yeah?
- 4:51Speaker 3: So that's a huge critique that I've seen of this
- 4:55Speaker 3: rebrand is that it's quite risky to base your entire
- 5:00Speaker 3: rebrand on a micro trend which is quite luxury, old
- 5:07Speaker 3: money aesthetic and the Sofia.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Richie of it all.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Yeah, which I do think is a really interesting take
- 5:15Speaker 3: because I guess what they're saying, because the whole branding
- 5:18Speaker 3: is about building legacy, isn't it for pretty little things.
- 5:21Speaker 1: And timeless pieces that you can wear and wear again?
- 5:24Speaker 1: But my question here is are you making it.
- 5:27Speaker 2: With materials that you can wear and wear again? And
- 5:30Speaker 2: when I went on.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Their site, their prices have gone up, but their materials
- 5:33Speaker 1: have stayed the same, and that was a very common
- 5:37Speaker 1: opinion of the chicks.
- 5:39Speaker 2: When I put the.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Question box up on Instagram, so many people said, congratulations,
- 5:45Speaker 1: it's Meshki two point zero, like they're trying to be Meshgi.
- 5:48Speaker 2: It's basically they're coming for like.
- 5:50Speaker 1: The Meshki the dish and trying to do that, except
- 5:53Speaker 1: they've raised their prices. And when I went on their
- 5:55Speaker 1: new arrival site and I also saw Yeah mag saying this,
- 5:59Speaker 1: I would say eighty percent up is still over eighty
- 6:02Speaker 1: percent polyester in terms of fabric composition, And there are
- 6:05Speaker 1: certain scenarios that you can look at. Katerina Riley that
- 6:10Speaker 1: polyester sometimes is a good material to be included when
- 6:15Speaker 1: a garment needs structure because polyester holds its structure, but
- 6:18Speaker 1: you don't want it to be like eighty percent. So
- 6:22Speaker 1: for example, in this video, Katerina was saying, when you're
- 6:24Speaker 1: looking at a coat, you would look for potentially ten
- 6:27Speaker 1: to max thirty percent polyester because versus wool, so like
- 6:31Speaker 1: seventy percent thirty percent polyester so that that garment keeps
- 6:35Speaker 1: its structure. So blazers often have a little bit of
- 6:37Speaker 1: polyester in them, but it is depending on how much.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Like that's the thing of where the cost and pricing
- 6:43Speaker 1: and quality comes into it. The other critique that I've
- 6:47Speaker 1: seen of this is basically, pretty Little Thing has excluded
- 6:51Speaker 1: its entire shopping base, its.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Entire target market, its entire target.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Market because the people that were shopping there aren't shopping
- 6:59Speaker 1: for this stuff, and the people that are shopping for
- 7:01Speaker 1: that old money, luxury, timeless pieces that you can wear
- 7:05Speaker 1: time and time again aren't going to be shopping them
- 7:07Speaker 1: a Pretty Little Thing.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll be really interested to see as the reviews
- 7:11Speaker 3: come in, what people say about the quality when they're
- 7:14Speaker 3: trying it on, and how that word of mouth impacts
- 7:18Speaker 3: their customer base, and how they pursue this rebrand going forward.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Very interesting, and I do definitely think the political landscape
- 7:25Speaker 1: at the moment has a massive influence on it. Where
- 7:29Speaker 1: I think this rebrand has missed the mark is that
- 7:32Speaker 1: in the fashion industry, inclusivity and high end branding have
- 7:35Speaker 1: very rarely gone hand in hand and affordable and fast
- 7:38Speaker 1: fashion brands have traditionally been more responsive to economic realities,
- 7:44Speaker 1: offering extended size ranges and budget friendly options. In contrast,
- 7:49Speaker 1: luxury labels have largely maintained exclusivity in both pricing and representation,
- 7:53Speaker 1: and this is on purpose.
- 7:54Speaker 2: It's to remain.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Exclusive, right, So, if Pretty Little Thing is now moving
- 7:59Speaker 1: away from both affordability and inclusivity, it begs the question
- 8:03Speaker 1: of what purpose does the brand serve in its new form.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Well, I think they had a huge opportunity to take
- 8:09Speaker 3: this rebrand and do something potentially positive. Like you, Pretty
- 8:15Speaker 3: Little Thing could probably afford to introduce more organic fabrics
- 8:21Speaker 3: into their products if they wanted to, and that would
- 8:26Speaker 3: have made much more of a splash if they were
- 8:28Speaker 3: to do that in the rebrand, because you know, a
- 8:31Speaker 3: big critique of brands that do offer more inclusive size
- 8:35Speaker 3: ranges is that they very rarely feature high percentages or
- 8:39Speaker 3: any sort of percentage of an organic fabric, and that
- 8:42Speaker 3: is often plastic fashion as people call it. That would
- 8:45Speaker 3: have made so much more of an impact if they
- 8:48Speaker 3: chose to do something like that instead of completely turning
- 8:51Speaker 3: their back on their existing customer base completely, and that
- 8:55Speaker 3: part of the market is already so saturated, so I
- 8:58Speaker 3: don't know what they were thinking neither.
- 9:00Speaker 1: And if you go on their Instagram from the rebrand,
- 9:02Speaker 1: there's not a single curve model in their rebrand on
- 9:06Speaker 1: their whole Instagram, which they've wiped that I might who
- 9:11Speaker 1: thought that was a good idea?
- 9:13Speaker 2: I just yeah, I don't get it.
- 9:15Speaker 1: And so anyway, so some of the chicks responses when
- 9:18Speaker 1: I asked them their thoughts was the font gives New York.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Italian restaurant vibes. I'm not made. We're all saying it.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Meshki two point zero? Where do I buy my club
- 9:30Speaker 1: clothes from?
- 9:31Speaker 2: Now? Where is the color in the world.
- 9:35Speaker 1: It's the same crappy quality, just reshot at a higher
- 9:38Speaker 1: price point. Someone else said, what in the traadwife old money?
- 9:42Speaker 2: Is this?
- 9:44Speaker 1: Oh? Same shit, different brand, We're just chasing the same
- 9:47Speaker 1: endless goalpost. Someone said, Lol, it's giving inspired by two
- 9:51Speaker 1: broat chicks, and yeah, I get that. Someone else said, yuck,
- 10:00Speaker 1: oh another one, and I'm going to leave it on
- 10:01Speaker 1: this one because it's my favorite.
- 10:05Speaker 2: All yeah, not be honest.
- 10:07Speaker 1: There were definitely some responses of people saying they liked it,
- 10:10Speaker 1: and that's fine. They're totally entitled to do that, and
- 10:13Speaker 1: there are other people that were like, what the fuck.
- 10:15Speaker 2: They re branded? When did this happen?
- 10:17Speaker 3: Yeah, like I got whiplash.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I think it's very interesting. But feel free to let
- 10:22Speaker 1: us know what you think about the rebrand.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Further, you can dm us on ig leave a comment
- 10:28Speaker 3: on Spotify. Yeah, we want to hear all the hot takes.
- 10:31Speaker 1: But anyway, let's get into the episode. I think it's
- 10:39Speaker 1: a good segue to get into our checklist further and
- 10:43Speaker 1: talk autumn style trends.
- 10:46Speaker 2: And I wanted to start with the autumn style.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Trends you very likely already own. So I love talking
- 10:53Speaker 1: about trends, but I think it's really good to also
- 10:56Speaker 1: discuss the trends that people very likely already own. So
- 10:59Speaker 1: that way you can be like, oh, how can I
- 11:01Speaker 1: play with this this year? How can I, you know,
- 11:04Speaker 1: look at something I already own and restyle it or
- 11:07Speaker 1: re wear it in a way that I haven't typically before.
- 11:10Speaker 2: So to no surprise to anyone.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Our colors of autumn are do you want to guess?
- 11:15Speaker 2: Do you want to guess what they are? Burgundy? Brown? Yes? Green, yes,
- 11:21Speaker 2: no way?
- 11:23Speaker 1: So brown's greens and deep toned cherry reds. I do
- 11:27Speaker 1: feel like we are seeing a shift at the moment
- 11:31Speaker 1: to brown as the neutral over black.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like brown is.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Becoming the new black, and it has also had a
- 11:42Speaker 1: seventy percent increase in interest according to Google Trends. But yeah,
- 11:46Speaker 1: I do feel like there's this shift between blacks as
- 11:48Speaker 1: like the base neutral and brown's. And then the other
- 11:52Speaker 1: trend that you very likely already have is denim. We're
- 11:55Speaker 1: seeing lots of double denim. We're seeing lots of oversized denim,
- 11:59Speaker 1: shack it denim jeans, denim pleated skirts, overalls are also
- 12:05Speaker 1: having a moment. You probably don't already own those, but
- 12:08Speaker 1: you get.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Also another good one to pick up at op shops. Yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 2: so cute.
- 12:12Speaker 1: And last but not least, but oversized coats, knits and
- 12:16Speaker 1: jackets again really good to pick up at thrift stores.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Go to the men's section. You'll have a field day.
- 12:23Speaker 1: But Paris Fashion Week is also on at the moment,
- 12:27Speaker 1: and one thing that I have seen as like an
- 12:30Speaker 1: invisible string of similarity through all of these shows this
- 12:34Speaker 1: like ethereal whimsy, fairytale vibe, and I am eating that
- 12:42Speaker 1: shit up like truly. So many pieces across so many
- 12:47Speaker 1: shows look like they've fallen straight out of like a
- 12:51Speaker 1: fantasy book with like lace, frills, fur slips, the Zimmerman Show.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Don't that's my obsession of the wake.
- 13:01Speaker 3: I have been eating that up every pace is gorgeous.
- 13:05Speaker 1: It's this like fairy, witchy Elvin princess era that I
- 13:10Speaker 1: am so here for. And I can't say I'm surprised
- 13:13Speaker 1: because I don't know if I'm biased here, but I
- 13:16Speaker 1: wonder if the rise of fantasy books and like the
- 13:22Speaker 1: rise of romancey and fantasy within pop culture at the
- 13:26Speaker 1: moment has influenced fashion.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 13:29Speaker 3: And it also ties very nicely with the rise of
- 13:33Speaker 3: the boho trend again because silks, ruffles, lace and pairing
- 13:39Speaker 3: that with things like a suede or a leather is
- 13:43Speaker 3: very much in line with that. So I think it
- 13:44Speaker 3: marries those two different trends that we're seeing at the moment,
- 13:48Speaker 3: and I'm obsessed.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I love it.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Give me all the ethereal whimsical fantasy fashion vibes. And
- 13:55Speaker 1: you're so right for that, tosune, because I got my
- 13:58Speaker 1: little data had on and was looking at Google trends
- 14:01Speaker 1: and Boho chic is up sixty percent in search volume,
- 14:05Speaker 1: but so is Floral Designs, which is up seventy percent
- 14:08Speaker 1: and Cottage Core, which is up fifty percent.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Wow, I know interesting, I love it. I'd love that.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Like a roughly lacy skirt with an oversized knitted jumper
- 14:20Speaker 3: like that is so cute for order, like.
- 14:22Speaker 1: A giant cream cable knit jumper.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Potentially with a bell sleeve.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Yes, with a fireplace, a crackling fireplace.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Now we're talking.
- 14:32Speaker 1: But to switch it up to something even more fun
- 14:34Speaker 1: within the realm of fashion. My favorite trend of autumn,
- 14:39Speaker 1: and it is man repella outfits.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Tell me more, tell me more, tell me more.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So this trend has evolved into something more fashion focus,
- 14:48Speaker 1: and it's centered on outfits that decenter what men find
- 14:52Speaker 1: traditionally in air quotes attractive. So these outfits usually feature
- 14:59Speaker 1: bag clothes, masculine silhouettes, and excessive layering.
- 15:04Speaker 2: What we wear already.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I know, I know, And this is why I'm so
- 15:07Speaker 1: excited to talk about this out because our time to
- 15:10Speaker 1: shine is literally Style Analytics, which I will leave a
- 15:14Speaker 1: link in the show notes to their Instagram page.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Absolutely give them a follow.
- 15:17Speaker 1: They also have a substack and ten out of ten
- 15:20Speaker 1: I love Style Analytics and data, but make it fashion
- 15:22Speaker 1: because it just feeds my brain. But anyway, style analyticsit
- 15:26Speaker 1: a scrape of multiple Reddit threads to find the most
- 15:28Speaker 1: common outfits or styles that men hate.
- 15:31Speaker 2: And I'm so.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Proud to own like ninety percent of everything that.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Was on this list. Oh my god.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I do also want to state for transparency, the eight
- 15:42Speaker 1: hundred and six comments that she used to pull in
- 15:44Speaker 1: this list were posted between twenty twenty and twenty twenty three,
- 15:47Speaker 1: and she had trouble finding threads like this posted within
- 15:50Speaker 1: the last two years, so she was like, maybe we
- 15:53Speaker 1: have moved past this, We've.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Evolved from some of these scenes exactly.
- 15:57Speaker 1: So I bring to you the outfits that men hate.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Number one was high waisted okay, cool every day same,
- 16:13Speaker 1: too much makeup, tick, welp, baggy clothes TI tick crop tops.
- 16:21Speaker 1: That's interesting, distressed jeans same, we fucking hate it when
- 16:26Speaker 1: you wear that too.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Big sunglasses fuck. And in her video she said specifically
- 16:31Speaker 1: the ones that like Paris Hilton wore in like the
- 16:34Speaker 1: two thousands, or ones that make you look like a
- 16:36Speaker 1: big love them, pointy toe, let me be witch, capris,
- 16:42Speaker 1: rompers ugs, and my personal favorite thick eyebrows. Also, what
- 16:50Speaker 1: featured things like mum jeans, long fake nails, biker shorts,
- 16:55Speaker 1: and flip flops.
- 16:57Speaker 2: What does that leave us with bikinis? I'm sure that's
- 17:01Speaker 2: fucking somewhere on the list too.
- 17:03Speaker 1: I just love that this is trending at the moment,
- 17:07Speaker 1: and that we're moving away from wearing things simply for
- 17:10Speaker 1: the sake of being attractive to men and decentering our
- 17:14Speaker 1: value based on what men want and find attractive, and
- 17:20Speaker 1: really moving towards wearing something simply for ourselves or simply
- 17:24Speaker 1: because just we like it and we want to wear it.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And I just I thought it was so fucking funny.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Yeah, let's take that trend beyond autumn, baby, Yeah, that's
- 17:31Speaker 3: all year round.
- 17:32Speaker 2: I love that.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Also, I don't know if you've seen, but Rowie Seeing
- 17:37Speaker 3: the Australian makeup content creator who is incredible, also has
- 17:42Speaker 3: a bit of a series where she does man Repella
- 17:45Speaker 3: makeup and it's always the most amazing, colorful, vibrant and
- 17:51Speaker 3: dramatic makeup.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yeah, she's so interesting.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Is that?
- 17:55Speaker 1: Also when you look up man Repeller outfits on like TikTok,
- 17:59Speaker 1: so many any of them is colorful and powerful and
- 18:03Speaker 1: unique and creative, and I just find it very not funny,
- 18:10Speaker 1: ha ha funny weird that the thing that is repelling
- 18:14Speaker 1: is a woman being an individual and if a man
- 18:17Speaker 1: is repelled by that, thank fucking god. It's like bugspray,
- 18:20Speaker 1: but with fashion. Yes, I love that and looks better.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Those are my That's my wrap up of the fashion
- 18:27Speaker 1: trends for autumn or tumtum okay.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Speaking of trends, I'm gonna move us onto beauty trends
- 18:36Speaker 3: of autumn and surprise, surprise, a huge trend in the
- 18:41Speaker 3: beauty space is cherry.
- 18:43Speaker 2: So in the last.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Year, of course, we've seen cherry red have a massive,
- 18:48Speaker 3: massive influence on fashion interiors decor, and like you said,
- 18:54Speaker 3: it's not going anywhere this autumn and winter. But we
- 18:57Speaker 3: went to the house of Sephora a few weeks ago
- 19:02Speaker 3: and that's where they share like all of their new
- 19:04Speaker 3: launches and products that are coming up this year, and
- 19:07Speaker 3: a massive trend that we saw was cherry ingredients and
- 19:11Speaker 3: cherry inspired products.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I was like, did y'all talk, like yeah?
- 19:16Speaker 3: And we did mention this earlier in the year, But
- 19:18Speaker 3: the twenty twenty five Pinterest predicts trend report did say
- 19:22Speaker 3: that the term cherry red vibe was up by three
- 19:25Speaker 3: hundred and twenty five percent and dark cherry red was
- 19:28Speaker 3: up two hundred and thirty five percent this year. So
- 19:31Speaker 3: it's safe to say that cherry isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I reckon every nail salon last week probably had
- 19:37Speaker 1: a two hundred and thirty five percent increase of the
- 19:39Speaker 1: of the gurl is getting the cherry red.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Downs and I am here, I will.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Be read be a part of that two hundred and
- 19:45Speaker 1: thirty five percent.
- 19:46Speaker 2: New beauty launchers.
- 19:48Speaker 3: If you love cherry the Benefit Benettent is launching in
- 19:52Speaker 3: cherry as well as a raspberry too. Fenty Beauty has
- 19:57Speaker 3: dropped a cherry dubgel cleanser. Bang and Body also has
- 20:01Speaker 3: their cherry pop lip and cheek gloss balm. Kaali has
- 20:06Speaker 3: the Lovevest Burning Cherry fragrance.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I love Kaali fragrances.
- 20:11Speaker 2: We smelted at the event and it was incredible.
- 20:14Speaker 3: And then also Who Is Elijah has a cherry Fiesta
- 20:17Speaker 3: fragrance as.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Well Cheese Mad, Cheery Bad. I love it.
- 20:24Speaker 3: It's funny because I feel like we're like, yeah, cherries,
- 20:26Speaker 3: you know works for spring and summer. But then also
- 20:30Speaker 3: cherry red is very deep and works for autumn and
- 20:34Speaker 3: winter too.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Cherries fit more to the autumn vibe than summer summers,
- 20:39Speaker 1: like give me a mango, I guess, like a cherry
- 20:41Speaker 1: print for example, like our cherry print bikinis. That's very summer,
- 20:45Speaker 1: very print though that's a universal, Yeah, that's a universe.
- 20:48Speaker 2: But cherry red it's jilsy.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Yeah. I want to try some of those cherry fragrances definitely.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Also what's launching at Sephora this autumn is House Labs
- 20:58Speaker 1: from Lady Gaga.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yes, so excited.
- 21:01Speaker 3: We got to try the viral highlighter, which can confirm,
- 21:04Speaker 3: oh my god, is just as good as it looks
- 21:07Speaker 3: on TikTok amazing, and then also the Foundation which I'm
- 21:11Speaker 3: so excited to try.
- 21:13Speaker 1: And there's also rumors Lady Gagama be coming to Australia.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I know, so fingers crossed.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Please we need her to bring the Mayhem Ball when
- 21:23Speaker 3: it is eventually launched down.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I can't wait for that ticket price to hurt my
- 21:27Speaker 1: feelings and also say thank you absolutely Okay, moving into
- 21:33Speaker 1: our next Hot Chick Autumn checklist item and for me
- 21:39Speaker 1: it's falling back in love with long form content. I
- 21:43Speaker 1: basically just stopped watching YouTube when I loved it. I
- 21:47Speaker 1: used to love watching YouTube. And I was saying this
- 21:49Speaker 1: to you the other day. We were doing your makeup
- 21:51Speaker 1: and I was like, you know what, I want to
- 21:53Speaker 1: start watching makeup tutorials again, and like skin tutorials and
- 21:57Speaker 1: finding maybe some more like comfort creators or people that
- 22:01Speaker 1: make me laugh, because I just feel like it's just
- 22:06Speaker 1: consuming like TikTok and Instagram, which is fine, like there's
- 22:08Speaker 1: a time and place for that, and I do like it,
- 22:11Speaker 1: but I don't feel like I have that connection to
- 22:14Speaker 1: creators as much with short form content that I just
- 22:18Speaker 1: really want to enjoy long form content, and within that
- 22:22Speaker 1: is watching more movies. Yes, that is something that I
- 22:26Speaker 1: shared at the start of the year on Stories that
- 22:28Speaker 1: I was like, I want to watch more movies. I
- 22:31Speaker 1: feel like I've lost the movie magic in life, and
- 22:35Speaker 1: it definitely is due to the fact that you know,
- 22:38Speaker 1: most of the movies that we're getting now are a sequel,
- 22:40Speaker 1: a remake pulled from some fucking AI generative ass But
- 22:44Speaker 1: I'm like, where's the magic? And maybe the magic is
- 22:47Speaker 1: just watching a bunch of two thousand rom coms every
- 22:49Speaker 1: weekend in autumn. Maybe I need to write a list
- 22:52Speaker 1: and do like a movie club.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's so cute.
- 22:55Speaker 1: That every week we watch like a certain two thousands
- 22:58Speaker 1: of rom com and it's practical magic every day.
- 23:02Speaker 3: I think the difference between consuming short form content and
- 23:05Speaker 3: long form content for me is that consuming short form
- 23:09Speaker 3: content doesn't feel as intentional, Whereas there are a few
- 23:13Speaker 3: YouTube series that I still watch that you know, they
- 23:16Speaker 3: drop every Wednesday night and I know exactly when it
- 23:20Speaker 3: comes out, and on a Wednesday night, I'm like, great,
- 23:22Speaker 3: I know, I'm going to the gym and I will
- 23:24Speaker 3: go on the treadmill and watch my little YouTube show. Yeah,
- 23:27Speaker 3: Or on a Saturday morning while I'm doing my skin care,
- 23:30Speaker 3: I've got my little YouTube show to watch and it's
- 23:33Speaker 3: something that I can look forward to every single week.
- 23:36Speaker 3: And yeah, it is a bit more intentional, and you
- 23:39Speaker 3: can relax, not just take it out.
- 23:41Speaker 2: That's what it is. I don't feel guilty when I
- 23:43Speaker 2: watch my YouTube.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Spending time with yourself. Like you said, it's intentional. It's
- 23:47Speaker 1: not a doom scroll. It's not low quality dopamine. You know,
- 23:51Speaker 1: it's not that quick hit that once you don't like
- 23:53Speaker 1: I got to keep scrolling, I got to keep tathing. Yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 1: I would love for people to send me some of
- 23:58Speaker 1: their favorite comfort creators because I don't feel like I
- 24:00Speaker 1: have any. Yeah, I need some other than Florence. Given
- 24:05Speaker 1: she's sorted, I've got her, but I need her to
- 24:07Speaker 1: start making YouTube videos.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be amazing.
- 24:10Speaker 1: But I'm like everything she has to say, I'm like
- 24:12Speaker 1: more more, give me more legit.
- 24:16Speaker 2: So please send me your comfort creators.
- 24:18Speaker 1: And yeah, hot girls in autumn are watching long form content.
- 24:21Speaker 3: I'm into it because that actually ties beautifully into my
- 24:26Speaker 3: next checklist item, which is shows the movies to binge
- 24:31Speaker 3: watch in autumn, because the cooler months is undeniably the
- 24:36Speaker 3: best time to binge watch.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Anything.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Give me the movies. Shows the movies to binge watch
- 24:42Speaker 3: this autumn. Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, When Harry met Sally, Practical, Magic,
- 24:49Speaker 3: Dead Poets, Society, No though too, Sam, you gotta have
- 24:56Speaker 3: something in there. Oh fine, I need an excuse to cry.
- 24:59Speaker 2: You don't an excuse to cry.
- 25:01Speaker 1: You look outside and see a leaf wall from a tree,
- 25:03Speaker 1: and you're like, that's really beautiful, Like.
- 25:05Speaker 2: The winds change.
- 25:06Speaker 3: I just want everyone to get along Twilight, Yes, Mats,
- 25:12Speaker 3: you've got mail.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I love that one.
- 25:15Speaker 3: The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, Little Women
- 25:18Speaker 3: Charmed Knives Out And I haven't watched this one, but
- 25:22Speaker 3: when I was scaring the internet for recommendations, only Murders
- 25:25Speaker 3: in the Building came up a lot for this.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Do you know what, I'm really really happy that
- 25:30Speaker 1: you didn't put on there because it is a winter
- 25:32Speaker 1: movie and not an order movie.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Is Harry Potter? Yeah, it's a different vibe. Yeah, Harry
- 25:38Speaker 2: Potter is Winter.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Lord of the Rings is Autumn. Yeah, I agree.
- 25:42Speaker 1: My next hot Chick Autumn checklist is to write yourself
- 25:48Speaker 1: fulfilling prophecy.
- 25:52Speaker 2: So this isn't going to.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Be a new notion because it definitely ties into the
- 25:57Speaker 1: whole live the life that you want, act as though
- 26:00Speaker 1: your higher self would manifestation, give your brain evidence of
- 26:05Speaker 1: your beliefs. Right, but it's fucking witchy and autumn is
- 26:11Speaker 1: for witches. So your self fulfilling prophecy is basically what
- 26:16Speaker 1: you want the vibes of this season to be. And
- 26:19Speaker 1: I love this because I do think your mentality, your mood,
- 26:24Speaker 1: and your attitude literally effect and drive the day you're
- 26:29Speaker 1: gonna have the month you're gonna have, whether or not
- 26:32Speaker 1: you're gonna get the fucking promotion you want, whether or
- 26:35Speaker 1: not like that date's gonna go really well, or you're
- 26:38Speaker 1: gonna have a lot of fun with your friends. What
- 26:40Speaker 1: you believe is gonna happen is how you're gonna go
- 26:43Speaker 1: into it. And so by creating self fulfilling prophecies that
- 26:47Speaker 1: are positive, you're going to kind of enter this lucky
- 26:51Speaker 1: girl energy, you know, the lucky girl syndrome, which like
- 26:55Speaker 1: half of it's bullshit, let's be honest, but I think
- 26:58Speaker 1: there is so much power and magic in sitting down
- 27:03Speaker 1: and riding out what you want your self fulfilled prophecy
- 27:07Speaker 1: to be. And it's the reason I say self fulfilled
- 27:09Speaker 1: is because the only thing that's going to make that
- 27:11Speaker 1: prophecy come to life is you. So if your self
- 27:15Speaker 1: fulfilled prophecy is I want to have a gentle autumn
- 27:19Speaker 1: where I really build a soft routine and celebrate my
- 27:23Speaker 1: soft winds, that's what you're going to ride out and
- 27:26Speaker 1: stick it somewhere. Put it, get like really cute paper
- 27:29Speaker 1: and ride it out with like a pen that's really cute,
- 27:33Speaker 1: and then frame it and have it just on one page.
- 27:35Speaker 1: It doesn't need to be super long, doesn't need to
- 27:38Speaker 1: be super intense, but have like this self fulfilling prophecy
- 27:41Speaker 1: that you want to see for yourself within autumn, and
- 27:44Speaker 1: then you can also do it for winter and spring
- 27:46Speaker 1: and summer and as like a little practice that's like
- 27:49Speaker 1: a little bit witchy because it's fucking fun, have a
- 27:51Speaker 1: little candle burning, And that's on my checklist to do that.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I would also love to know what's on your self
- 27:59Speaker 1: fulfilling prophecy for autumn.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Oh, this is a question for me of the chicks.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Okay, I feel like my next tip kind of leans
- 28:06Speaker 3: into that, so I can jump into that. Which is
- 28:09Speaker 3: the Danish word who get? Have you heard of this before?
- 28:13Speaker 2: No?
- 28:14Speaker 3: Okay, so hohogeh is a Danish word that describes a cozy,
- 28:19Speaker 3: contented mood evoked by comfort. So this is often a
- 28:24Speaker 3: word used to describe decor and interior design.
- 28:28Speaker 1: So I think, you know cozy interiors.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Really beautiful soft blankets, soft lighting, handle incense, ambient videos
- 28:39Speaker 3: on YouTube exactly with you and with your division. Yeah,
- 28:43Speaker 3: but I think that my self fulfilled prophecy for autumn
- 28:47Speaker 3: will be who get. I love that and that is
- 28:51Speaker 3: to embrace the forced slowness.
- 28:53Speaker 2: That comes with the call of months.
- 28:56Speaker 3: I'm not saying completely shut off your social calendar. I
- 28:58Speaker 3: do think it's really important to put yourself out there,
- 29:01Speaker 3: but I guess being more intentional about those moments at
- 29:05Speaker 3: home where you are forced to just slow down, like sit.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Back and relax and who get and who get? Yeah,
- 29:13Speaker 2: So I.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Think I need to start by investing in a new
- 29:16Speaker 3: set of flannelette pajamas, perhaps a new candle that can
- 29:22Speaker 3: be my scent of the season.
- 29:24Speaker 2: It's really about indulging.
- 29:26Speaker 3: In those cozy moments that you can't have in any
- 29:29Speaker 3: other season but autumn.
- 29:31Speaker 1: And you have to be intentional about it. Yeah.
- 29:34Speaker 3: So cooking more hearty meals, like let's get some soup,
- 29:38Speaker 3: casserole dish. Yeah, we need some more soups, some more casseroles,
- 29:42Speaker 3: some more veggie bakes in the rotation, slow cooker, slow cooker,
- 29:48Speaker 3: investing in cozy pjs, slippies, a warm cup of tea
- 29:53Speaker 3: every night, movie nights in Yeah, I think that everybody
- 29:57Speaker 3: should embrace hoogi and the self fulfilling prophecy and their
- 30:01Speaker 3: self fulfilling prophecy this autumn.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Okay, I have two more. Okay, one of them is
- 30:05Speaker 1: very quick. But the other day I was feeling a
- 30:08Speaker 1: bit said and I bought a fucking cake care And
- 30:13Speaker 1: there was no birthday, there was no occasion.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I just said I want cake, and I bought a cake.
- 30:21Speaker 1: And I've had cake for afternoon tea for the last week,
- 30:24Speaker 1: maybe sometimes breakfast.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Also potentially lunch.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Buy yourself the damn cake and fucking eat it.
- 30:32Speaker 2: And that is.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Something that I want to do this autumn, and that
- 30:35Speaker 1: is on my hot chick checklist, is to have a
- 30:38Speaker 1: cake every week and get a little cake stand and
- 30:42Speaker 1: have cake with my tea.
- 30:44Speaker 2: And it doesn't have to be a birthday.
- 30:46Speaker 1: It doesn't have to be a treat. Like, I don't
- 30:49Speaker 1: know what it is. Maybe it's because my mum always
- 30:51Speaker 1: used to bake cakes when we were little and we
- 30:53Speaker 1: would have them for afternoon tea.
- 30:54Speaker 2: And maybe it's just nostalgic thing in me.
- 30:56Speaker 1: But I'm like, why are these reserved for birthdays when
- 30:59Speaker 1: they're so young?
- 31:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not fair. Why can't we have cake all
- 31:02Speaker 2: the time.
- 31:02Speaker 1: We are adults with free will ye, buy the fucking cake.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Buy the fucking cake.
- 31:06Speaker 1: And then secondly, my last one is We're not waiting
- 31:12Speaker 1: to winter to start building up our immune system. Let's
- 31:16Speaker 1: start that shit now, because that shit's coming, bitch already.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Everyone is fucking sick at the moment, and I'm like,
- 31:26Speaker 1: you have the best immune system that I've ever met
- 31:28Speaker 1: in anyone, and I hate you for it, But start
- 31:32Speaker 1: working and building your immune system now.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Do your own research.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Talk to your doctor, Go get a blood test, see
- 31:39Speaker 1: what you are deficient in, if anything, and work on
- 31:42Speaker 1: that before we get to winter, and before that fucking
- 31:46Speaker 1: nasty ass, dirty bitch of a flu is going around
- 31:51Speaker 1: and you were bedridden because I had it one year
- 31:53Speaker 1: and I'm telling you I literally saw time and smelled
- 31:57Speaker 1: colors and not in a good weight.
- 31:59Speaker 2: No, it was not fun. She's been changed ever since.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I've literally been scarred. Like the first time I got
- 32:04Speaker 1: sick after that, fluent cried because I was like it's back, yeah,
- 32:08Speaker 1: And I was like, you can't get the same virus.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Prison It's bad.
- 32:11Speaker 1: That is what I want to leave everyone on to
- 32:15Speaker 1: go and book in your blood tests because hot chicks
- 32:18Speaker 1: in autumn build up their immune system.
- 32:21Speaker 2: I love that.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Okay, moving on to advice with the chicks classes in.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Session backs in session if you know, you know, you know,
- 32:29Speaker 3: you know, Hey, Gl's what would you do. I'm twenty
- 32:37Speaker 3: three turning twenty four later this year and in my
- 32:39Speaker 3: second year as a grad teacher. I want to go
- 32:42Speaker 3: back to UNI. Teaching just isn't my vibe and I
- 32:45Speaker 3: regret doing it in the first place. I got a
- 32:47Speaker 3: perfect ATAR at school and feel like teaching just sucks
- 32:50Speaker 3: the life and personality out of me. I feel like
- 32:53Speaker 3: I'm wasting my potential and want to go start over
- 32:55Speaker 3: fresh with a new career. I'm kind of scared though,
- 32:58Speaker 3: as this man's having to relo kate to the city again,
- 33:01Speaker 3: as I'm from the country and returned back to teach
- 33:04Speaker 3: for the financial benefits, and to say, going back to UNI,
- 33:06Speaker 3: renting in the city and finding time to work could
- 33:09Speaker 3: be really financially difficult, and I don't know if being
- 33:12Speaker 3: a broke UNI student would be worth it. Again, Do
- 33:15Speaker 3: I resist my urge to try something new and try
- 33:17Speaker 3: to build myself as a teacher despite my lack of
- 33:19Speaker 3: satisfaction for financial gain or do I buy the bullet
- 33:23Speaker 3: and suck it up for another four years for long
- 33:25Speaker 3: term but delayed reward.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Ps.
- 33:27Speaker 3: I'm single and there's nothing holding me back from leaving
- 33:30Speaker 3: my town after my contract is up.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Okay, I feel like I have a little story that
- 33:34Speaker 1: could probably help with this.
- 33:36Speaker 2: And Saal and I have an entire family of teachers.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I think there's like seventeen teachers in my family and
- 33:41Speaker 1: there's like forty eight.
- 33:42Speaker 2: In your There's a lot of teachers going around.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a lot of teachers in our fans and
- 33:47Speaker 1: friends and all that stuff. And I want to preface
- 33:49Speaker 1: this by saying a lot of them absolutely love being
- 33:52Speaker 1: teachers and are so fulfilled with being teachers. Yeah. However,
- 33:56Speaker 1: my sister was a teacher, and she very much looks
- 34:00Speaker 1: back fondly on that. But she got to a point
- 34:03Speaker 1: that she was like, this is not filling my cup
- 34:05Speaker 1: and she decided to quit and she went back to
- 34:09Speaker 1: UNI and studied to be a vet. And this was
- 34:13Speaker 1: such a hard decision for her to do. And I
- 34:16Speaker 1: think everything that this chick was saying in terms of
- 34:19Speaker 1: like she's gonna have to move, it's going to be
- 34:22Speaker 1: very financially like it's going to be a financial burden.
- 34:25Speaker 1: She's a little bit scared, like what if it doesn't
- 34:27Speaker 1: work out? And I do think these are all things
- 34:29Speaker 1: that you know, my sister was also faced with, but
- 34:33Speaker 1: I have never seen anyone happier with a decision in
- 34:36Speaker 1: their entire life. Like, she is so much more fulfilled
- 34:41Speaker 1: in her life and in her career following her passion
- 34:44Speaker 1: rather than staying in something that she was second guessing.
- 34:48Speaker 1: And that is probably like that I feel like, is
- 34:53Speaker 1: what I think of with this scenario that I'm like,
- 34:56Speaker 1: I watched my sister leave teaching to go follow a
- 34:59Speaker 1: passion and as hard as it was, like there was
- 35:01Speaker 1: ups and there was downs, absolutely, but she is still
- 35:06Speaker 1: really really happy that she kind of went and put
- 35:09Speaker 1: in all those hard yards and it's years, Like starting
- 35:12Speaker 1: to be a vet is like I'm pretty sure forty
- 35:14Speaker 1: eight years.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Until you get to be bet.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, scientistically maybe one hundred and five, yeah like that,
- 35:19Speaker 1: but yeah, to like basically like once you're at retiring age.
- 35:26Speaker 2: She gets to be a bet.
- 35:27Speaker 1: It takes so many years and so much work and
- 35:30Speaker 1: so much back and forth, and you know, you've got
- 35:32Speaker 1: to do masters and you've got to do thesises and
- 35:35Speaker 1: there is and it's really really hard. But I think
- 35:38Speaker 1: at the end of the day, if something to your
- 35:40Speaker 1: dream and that's what you want to do. The hard
- 35:41Speaker 1: work is always hard, but it's not too hard, and
- 35:46Speaker 1: anything worth achieving is never easy.
- 35:50Speaker 2: That's true.
- 35:52Speaker 3: And you'll also be working for the next fifty odd
- 35:57Speaker 3: years of your life. Four years is a long time
- 36:00Speaker 3: and it does take a lot of effort and dedication
- 36:03Speaker 3: to get through that. But in the grand scheme of
- 36:05Speaker 3: things of your career, it is.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Not very long.
- 36:09Speaker 3: And teaching, like we said, it can be very fulfilling.
- 36:13Speaker 3: We know lots of people who absolutely love their jobs
- 36:16Speaker 3: as teachers, and even though they do, yes, they still
- 36:19Speaker 3: have hard days.
- 36:20Speaker 2: It still comes with its challenges.
- 36:22Speaker 3: But I just don't know if you can force yourself
- 36:25Speaker 3: to love something if the passion isn't especially teaching.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Teaching is a hard as buck job, yet if you're
- 36:33Speaker 1: not passionate about it, it's really really, really hard.
- 36:36Speaker 3: Yeah, you need that passion to propel you through those
- 36:38Speaker 3: challenging times, and if you don't have that, I'm not
- 36:41Speaker 3: sure if you'll be able to build it up.
- 36:44Speaker 2: You could also always go back to teaching, true, so
- 36:48Speaker 2: that's always there.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Yeah, don't see this as like you have to cut
- 36:52Speaker 3: ties and end it all. It's all been a waste.
- 36:54Speaker 3: It definitely hasn't. I would say go for it, agreed.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I think before you do it, definitely like map out
- 37:00Speaker 1: your financials and like see how that's gonna work, so
- 37:04Speaker 1: that way you kind of have an idea. It's not
- 37:06Speaker 1: like you're going in blind in terms of like what
- 37:09Speaker 1: you can afford, what you can't afford, how much things
- 37:10Speaker 1: are gonna cost. Definitely do that because especially with the
- 37:13Speaker 1: cost of living crisis and the economic climate, you want
- 37:16Speaker 1: to make sure that that's not gonna be another added stress.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Totally on top of it.
- 37:20Speaker 1: But I feel like we always have the predicament of
- 37:24Speaker 1: like you're literally twenty four, You've got the whole rest
