- 0:00Speaker 1: So you see, it was my fault. I got missus
- 0:02Speaker 1: Crabapple drunk, and then I was going to do the
- 0:04Speaker 1: same thing to Zach, but I decided it was better
- 0:07Speaker 1: to just tell the truth.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Mart.
- 0:08Speaker 3: You deserve a reward for telling the truth, and that
- 0:12Speaker 3: reward will be in the form of a severe punishment.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Doesn't matter as long as Edna gets her job back.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Sorry, Bart, but I can't just get rid of a
- 0:20Speaker 3: teacher if he's doing a good job or an adequate job,
- 0:23Speaker 3: or just shows up and doesn't touch anyone.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Four Finger Discount, Dude, Welcome to Forefinger Discount, where this
- 0:45Speaker 4: week we are going to be reviewing episode two of
- 0:48Speaker 4: season twenty one of The Simpsons.
- 0:50Speaker 2: It is Bot gets a z I'm Danda and.
- 0:51Speaker 5: No, I'm going and we're in astrada. Now I know
- 0:53Speaker 5: it's bockets a z z I, but it is an
- 0:56Speaker 5: American show, so maybe do bockets is w.
- 0:58Speaker 2: X Y and z A. He said, Yeah, I feel
- 1:01Speaker 2: like it's one of those words like no, I also garage.
- 1:03Speaker 2: You say garage, but I feel like z or z
- 1:06Speaker 2: I just it just depends on what mood on me.
- 1:08Speaker 2: That is correct. Yeah, Sometimes that's dead, baby, Sometimes that's
- 1:11Speaker 2: dead yeah, but it's technically Z in Australia, that's right.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Correct, Yes, but as I said, an American show, let's
- 1:17Speaker 5: go with Z yeah, because now the name of it
- 1:19Speaker 5: was apparently when the teacher says on Wikipedia that Matt
- 1:22Speaker 5: Sallie must have said it in the commentary or something,
- 1:24Speaker 5: but Matt someone has said that the bar gets a
- 1:26Speaker 5: Z was a reference to the fact that the original.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Crash out of the teacher Zach what's his name, Zach,
- 1:33Speaker 2: Zachary Vaughan, Yeah, Brady Yvaughn, Yeah, a very cool guy name,
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yeah Vaughn, Zachary Vaughan, a cross between Zachary Lee, Levy,
- 1:44Speaker 2: Levo Ley Levi, Yeah, Zachary LeVar and Vince vaughn N
- 1:48Speaker 2: s Swawn. Yes. But he apparently gave everyone z's when
- 1:51Speaker 2: he was crushing outs. How they went or what's wrong
- 1:52Speaker 2: with this guy? Blah blah blah, and they changed the
- 1:54Speaker 2: way crashed out. He was drinking vodka and they kept
- 1:57Speaker 2: the title though. I'm like cool.
- 2:00Speaker 5: I love how you are now using the kids slang.
- 2:02Speaker 5: You've been it's clearly school holidays here, you've been hanging
- 2:05Speaker 5: with children and now using the term crash out, not
- 2:07Speaker 5: the way that we should use it, which is terms
- 2:09Speaker 5: of like I'm really tired, I'm going to crash out.
- 2:11Speaker 5: You're doing it in the way of like free Yeah,
- 2:13Speaker 5: in the way of like.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Freak out, Yeah, freaking out or crash out.
- 2:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I've been listening to all Morning Capop and the Demon Hunters.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I feel dumber. Well you are.
- 2:24Speaker 5: It's just CA Pop Demon Hunters. You've been I call
- 2:26Speaker 5: it you K pop and the Demon Hunters like pussy Cats,
- 2:30Speaker 5: not quite not quite the k but the CA Pop
- 2:32Speaker 5: colon Demon Hunters is that's what it is. I think
- 2:34Speaker 5: it might not even have the colon. I think we're
- 2:36Speaker 5: just we're just throwing grammar completely out the window. In
- 2:38Speaker 5: the year twenty twenty.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Five, the kid's caught Keep up, Listen to keep Up.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It's such good marketing, it's really good. Mark just wants
- 2:46Speaker 2: you to because they want you to listen to K
- 2:47Speaker 2: pop and the kids at this coin. Let's listen to
- 2:49Speaker 2: K pop. Oh yeah, not the just cap pop and
- 2:51Speaker 2: chat A little BT song yeah yeah, I think I
- 2:53Speaker 2: don't think I've said anough. When BTS were on SNL,
- 2:57Speaker 2: so many acronyms a couple of years go shout out
- 3:00Speaker 2: to our pal doing the SNL podcast made Man's ac
- 3:04Speaker 2: Yeah Saturday and our dive. Yeah, check it out if
- 3:06Speaker 2: you're a fan of SNL. Indeed, indeed, I think Emma
- 3:09Speaker 2: Stone was hosting and BTS were on, and I hadn't
- 3:12Speaker 2: really heard that much about it. I was like, oh,
- 3:14Speaker 2: there's something. The kids are into it not and give
- 3:15Speaker 2: a fuck, but I do like an star so there.
- 3:18Speaker 2: I checked this out BETS and I was like.
- 3:22Speaker 5: My super fan, these guys are really good.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'm really into this song.
- 3:26Speaker 5: And plus it was like the Beatles were on. It's Sullivan,
- 3:29Speaker 5: very old riffent for aw you kid Jay. But yeah,
- 3:32Speaker 5: you never hear the crowd at SNL go wow soone,
- 3:36Speaker 5: so you could hear them. Yeah yeah, I mean and
- 3:38Speaker 5: that song Golden that you were listening to this morning from.
- 3:42Speaker 2: There's one called Soda Pop which was actually quite catchy.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Okay is that from? It's from It's from Capop Colon, Capeop,
- 3:48Speaker 2: Demon Hunters, Camp play Cup and the Demon Hunters. Is
- 3:50Speaker 2: it like I'm sure? I said this? Is it like
- 3:52Speaker 2: Sugar Rush from Record Ralph because that's I honestly felt
- 3:55Speaker 2: the same way when I was listening to it. In turn,
- 3:57Speaker 2: your racing car. Sure, but that's enough about that. No
- 4:02Speaker 2: free clout for K pop. Demon Hunter doesn't need it.
- 4:05Speaker 2: No semi related by the way, apologies, I've lost my
- 4:08Speaker 2: voice a bit from being at the football last fighter
- 4:10Speaker 2: where my Mighty Cats, our Mighty Cats defeated there the Hawks.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Indeed, you might know that we're a little smiley today,
- 4:15Speaker 5: feeling pretty good about our So was the Geelong Cats
- 4:17Speaker 5: are in the grand final for our US listeners.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Can your super Bowl series? It's a bigger deal, Let's
- 4:23Speaker 2: be honest.
- 4:27Speaker 5: What Yeah, so we're both pretty happy about it. Yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 5: it's just about to say. It's Monday as we're recording this.
- 4:34Speaker 5: Box office results for the US are out and apparently
- 4:38Speaker 5: something called Demon Slayer just like number one with a
- 4:40Speaker 5: bullet another eyes. It's a Korean anime, but it certainly
- 4:44Speaker 5: have they made enough?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah? Well they made a film for it, have they?
- 4:48Speaker 5: I could look it up, but I can't be bothered. Okay,
- 4:50Speaker 5: let's talk about the Simpsons.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Yes, but yes, so we hit to where Bart gets
- 4:53Speaker 2: a z Z. Whatever you want to say, let's go z.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Let's go z buckets Z. That's the way they want
- 4:58Speaker 2: to reference it on the on the episode I like
- 5:00Speaker 2: missus K a lot, so I enjoy missus K episodes,
- 5:02Speaker 2: but I wouldn't say this is all that memorable. You
- 5:04Speaker 2: just it's one of those episodes where you just knew
- 5:07Speaker 2: where it was going from go to woe. You knew
- 5:09Speaker 2: she'd she'd have, she'd struggle, but would try to help
- 5:12Speaker 2: her get a job back, and then she'd eventually get
- 5:14Speaker 2: a job back.
- 5:14Speaker 5: It starts off with a downer, gets even more fucking depressing,
- 5:19Speaker 5: and then becomes kind of predictable. Yeah, I mean I didn't.
- 5:23Speaker 5: I didn't think it was a bad episode by any stretch.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Written by a man that's salmon correct. Yeah, there was
- 5:27Speaker 5: a lot of good stuff in it. Yeah, it was
- 5:29Speaker 5: very of its time, but it was also very kind
- 5:33Speaker 5: of like relevant the present day as well. Then, Yeah,
- 5:36Speaker 5: which is kind of sad when you go, oh, the
- 5:38Speaker 5: kids are on screen, so like, you know, they're incommunicative
- 5:41Speaker 5: all this kind of stuff. Oh, you know, the old
- 5:44Speaker 5: ways are going out the window, all that kind of stuff.
- 5:45Speaker 2: And it's so true though because as a parent, right
- 5:48Speaker 2: of a kid who's now seven, he's got friends whose
- 5:50Speaker 2: parents are allow letting him, let him have phones or
- 5:52Speaker 2: iPads and that kind of stuff. Right. Oh, and we're
- 5:54Speaker 2: not anti iPad. The kids got iPads, but we just
- 5:57Speaker 2: limit it, right, you know, it should be a treaty.
- 5:59Speaker 2: It's not just you sitting on your iPad. Ali goes
- 6:00Speaker 2: outside kicks of football. Ally she's doing playing with a dolls,
- 6:04Speaker 2: she's playing with cars or you know, not the cars
- 6:06Speaker 2: at the front, but you know she's just playing with something, right,
- 6:08Speaker 2: She's she's using her body and being creative. Ali's got friends,
- 6:12Speaker 2: you know, they will come over and they're walking and
- 6:14Speaker 2: looking down at the iPad and Al it's like, do
- 6:16Speaker 2: you want to go keep the footy? And they'll go
- 6:17Speaker 2: outside to play football, but they're still holding like their iPads.
- 6:20Speaker 2: They can't get away from these screens. And it's just
- 6:23Speaker 2: you got to find that balance of you can because
- 6:25Speaker 2: you don't want to be that parent of goes you
- 6:26Speaker 2: can't have a phone and atlists not having your phone
- 6:28Speaker 2: till their teenager, it's just not going to happen. They
- 6:30Speaker 2: don't need as I said, your kids, you don't need phones.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Oh yeah, very very good line in this. Yeh yeah,
- 6:35Speaker 2: I thought it was very relatable. But the case of
- 6:37Speaker 2: because now we've got things like phones and watches and whatnot.
- 6:40Speaker 2: They can be phones. You don't need an actual phone
- 6:43Speaker 2: with a plan kids into someone watching him like hey,
- 6:45Speaker 2: because some of Alliot's friend at schools that hit the
- 6:47Speaker 2: footy with them up the school. The little phones got
- 6:49Speaker 2: off like the power and I'll be out there now
- 6:52Speaker 2: and I'm like that's pretty cool. What a time to
- 6:54Speaker 2: be like yeah, yeah, so you know, kids don't need phones.
- 6:57Speaker 2: In my opinion, kids don't need phones, but the idea
- 6:59Speaker 2: of screens just consuming kids and changing them as well.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Because I was with one of Elliot's friends today and
- 7:04Speaker 2: he had his little iPad thing and when his iPad
- 7:06Speaker 2: was there, it was like he wasn't in this world. No, no,
- 7:09Speaker 2: it is. I had to literally shake him to get
- 7:11Speaker 2: his attention, like dude, dude, this is now on the
- 7:15Speaker 2: record of the Dano Shakes kids. Yeah, but no it is.
- 7:20Speaker 5: It is rewiring brains on a on a yeah, fundamental level,
- 7:24Speaker 5: But enough about that. I mean, well, look is relevant
- 7:27Speaker 5: to this episode absolutely.
- 7:29Speaker 2: But when the new teacher came in, I was like,
- 7:30Speaker 2: of course it's the cool teacher. The kids are going
- 7:32Speaker 2: to be no confused, what do you want to do it?
- 7:35Speaker 2: Missus kback because we feel bad, but we don't want
- 7:37Speaker 2: to get itt of this cool new teacher. But the
- 7:38Speaker 2: cool new teacher never lasts. No cool teacher. While cool
- 7:41Speaker 2: teachers are not to be trusted. No, No, they're never
- 7:44Speaker 2: going to be the ones that gets you to where
- 7:46Speaker 2: you need to be. You will fail the test of
- 7:47Speaker 2: life of these teachers.
- 7:48Speaker 5: You need that good balance again. I mean, I've had
- 7:51Speaker 5: quote unquote cool teachers, but that cool teacher was also
- 7:54Speaker 5: not necessarily disciplinarium. But you also know they didn't stand
- 7:57Speaker 5: for any nonsense, you know. You know, Look, I'm here
- 8:00Speaker 5: to teach you. I'm here to teach you in ways
- 8:02Speaker 5: that may not be you know, additional sort of stuffy
- 8:05Speaker 5: method that you may have experienced before, but at the
- 8:07Speaker 5: same time you're doing the work. I'm here to teach you.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, yeah, as opposed to just like he guys,
- 8:14Speaker 2: let's do it. Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 5: I'm sorry, very bad Zachary Born in personation there. But
- 8:17Speaker 5: you know, no, not to be trusted.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I have said to I've said many times in this
- 8:21Speaker 2: podcast that the teachers I've looked back on when I
- 8:23Speaker 2: was back on my school, the ones I respect the
- 8:26Speaker 2: most now, the ones that I kind of thought at
- 8:27Speaker 2: the time, Oh you're really grumpy or you this, that
- 8:29Speaker 2: and the other. But I look back and go, you
- 8:30Speaker 2: know what, they were the best teachers. They you respected
- 8:33Speaker 2: them by the time I was in year twelve. When
- 8:36Speaker 2: I was in year seven or eight, I thought, ah,
- 8:38Speaker 2: they're grumpy there, met I didn't get them. And then
- 8:40Speaker 2: when you get to like year ten, eleven, and twelve,
- 8:42Speaker 2: you think it's got time. I need to actually learn
- 8:44Speaker 2: some shit to understand how to live my life once
- 8:46Speaker 2: I leave this place. It's like, oh, these are the
- 8:48Speaker 2: ones that are going to guide me through this. Yes,
- 8:50Speaker 2: these are the ones to follow.
- 8:51Speaker 5: Having said that, I've had disciplinarians who took the disciplinary
- 8:54Speaker 5: aspect a bit too far. I'm not talking about being
- 8:56Speaker 5: like a corporal punishment kind of guys, but just like, yeah,
- 8:59Speaker 5: you're bitter now, and you're and that bitterness is manifesting herself,
- 9:03Speaker 5: is like.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Do it this way?
- 9:04Speaker 5: Yeah, shut up, it wouldn't it be? Sometimes that's sometimes
- 9:07Speaker 5: that's relevant, Sometimes that's valid.
- 9:08Speaker 2: It wasn't like the discipline. It's more than just the
- 9:10Speaker 2: teaching methods. It's not that you're get in the classes
- 9:11Speaker 2: like we're just we're not hit the fuck about. We're
- 9:13Speaker 2: here to get our work done. And when you in
- 9:15Speaker 2: year eleven to go, you know what, this room's quiet.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I'm getting work done. Yes, indeed, this is this is
- 9:21Speaker 2: actually sticky, this is this is necessary. Yeah, I always say,
- 9:24Speaker 2: shared to mister mister Cabrey. At Geelong High, we all
- 9:27Speaker 2: thought it was his weirdo. And year seven and eight
- 9:29Speaker 2: we got to like year ten eleven and we already
- 9:31Speaker 2: know what this guy has our man, mister Cabrey. Yeah, no,
- 9:34Speaker 2: we've all got teachers like that, shared out to Roderick McKillop. Yeah, solid, dude,
- 9:38Speaker 2: he my favorite. Did you have any favorite moments from
- 9:41Speaker 2: this episode? I had one what to do?
- 9:44Speaker 5: I had three exactly if away three well actually, and
- 9:48Speaker 5: one of them is like a subset of the other one,
- 9:50Speaker 5: so I really got too. I did like when Edni
- 9:53Speaker 5: Kay was drunk and sort of parading through various things
- 9:55Speaker 5: and she breaks into the I guess the exchange student farewell.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I like that the song the Fairwell. Yeah, I've got
- 10:03Speaker 2: miss Kay with the dad joke. Yeah. And coming on
- 10:05Speaker 2: to uh.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Mister Lago, who we learned his first name is Dewey.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Dewey. Yeah, I did not know this beforehand, whether this
- 10:12Speaker 2: was common knowledge beforehand, I don't think he's never I
- 10:15Speaker 2: love that a great This is a great come on.
- 10:19Speaker 2: That tells you a little something that we already probably
- 10:21Speaker 2: knew about Dewey. I'll get you, I'll get you off Broadway.
- 10:27Speaker 2: But just miss like, how can you not love missus?
- 10:29Speaker 2: K that's pretty good. Yeah, just even like in the morning,
- 10:32Speaker 2: it's just you feel so sorry for it. I'm just like,
- 10:34Speaker 2: well that what a woman that was?
- 10:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, good honor for be you know, embracing
- 10:38Speaker 5: the positivity even you know when it's really.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Tough to do.
- 10:41Speaker 5: So anyone who's sort of felt like, oh my god,
- 10:45Speaker 5: what's the point has had that thing where they tried
- 10:48Speaker 5: to snap themselves out it. They will look in the
- 10:49Speaker 5: bathroom mial, they will say the affirmations, it's gonna be
- 10:52Speaker 5: a good days, gonna be a good day.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Positive mental attitude.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, And I mean you can rewire you're thinking
- 10:56Speaker 5: if you do that enough and you're convincing enough.
- 10:58Speaker 2: I mean I had to do it during the Geelong
- 11:01Speaker 2: Hawthorne game last week. So he shout out to Elliott. Right,
- 11:04Speaker 2: So Elliott, die Hardcats fan loves his footy as all
- 11:06Speaker 2: you thistens to be well aware. R at the game
- 11:09Speaker 2: and the team Hawthorne there sort of arch rivals of Geelong,
- 11:12Speaker 2: long storied history. There last final. It's been nearly twenty
- 11:15Speaker 2: years as I've been to a final because I went
- 11:17Speaker 2: to a losing Grand File against Hawthorne and I just
- 11:19Speaker 2: could not bring it to do it again, couldn't do
- 11:21Speaker 2: it to myself. And Elliott really wanted to go, and
- 11:24Speaker 2: I thought, I said, I really don't, I can't do it.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Nicola goes, look, the only way to experience like the
- 11:31Speaker 2: glory of success is to be willing to experience failure.
- 11:34Speaker 2: And I was like, it's very Where'd you pull that
- 11:37Speaker 2: one from? Nikola?
- 11:39Speaker 5: But like, oh no, it's true, right, oh exactly, Yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 5: sorrow was the price of joy.
- 11:43Speaker 2: And she's like, you know, if you are there when
- 11:45Speaker 2: the Geelong and Cats beat the Hawks with Elliott to
- 11:47Speaker 2: be a memory, you don't forget. And I'm like, we'll
- 11:49Speaker 2: do it right. And we get there and Cats were
- 11:51Speaker 2: hot favorites and Hawthorn get the first couple of goals,
- 11:54Speaker 2: our best player goes down with an eighteen injury and
- 11:57Speaker 2: the next best player goes down. There two best defenders
- 11:59Speaker 2: are gone on in the first ten minutes of the game.
- 12:01Speaker 2: They have kicked three goals. I turned to Allie is
- 12:04Speaker 2: openly weeping. He's just balling his eyes out. This isn't fair.
- 12:08Speaker 2: What's why it's going? Why is Tom Stewart hurt? And
- 12:11Speaker 2: I at that point had to make a choice. I
- 12:13Speaker 2: had to go normally because I was dying inside as well,
- 12:16Speaker 2: because see it in his face, And I went, I
- 12:18Speaker 2: have to be the brave one here. I have to
- 12:20Speaker 2: put on the brave face and go. Wait, it's all good.
- 12:22Speaker 6: First call it off.
- 12:23Speaker 2: There's four of them. It's fine, it's only three goals.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I said, Do I look worried? So no. If I
- 12:27Speaker 2: don't look worried, you shouldn't look worried, like as I
- 12:28Speaker 2: said to you offair. Meanwhile, I was literally dying in size.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I thought, they've done it again. Why don'd I come?
- 12:33Speaker 2: They've done it again? But I kept my cool in
- 12:35Speaker 2: that moment, right, And I was saying to Nicola yesterday,
- 12:38Speaker 2: I said, me keeping my cool for Elliot's sake really
- 12:41Speaker 2: helped me cope with the situation as well. Sure, and
- 12:44Speaker 2: throughout the game there were moments where like just Loong
- 12:46Speaker 2: hit the front end, Hawthorne would come back and I'm going,
- 12:48Speaker 2: it's all right, buddy, it's all good. It's all good.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Normally I would be in meltdown mode, but sometimes it's
- 12:53Speaker 2: best to just have that positive mental attitude and just
- 12:55Speaker 2: learned to relax a bit.
- 12:57Speaker 5: It sounds like someone found the answer.
- 13:00Speaker 2: We'll get to that. We'll get to that when there's
- 13:02Speaker 2: a bit to get to about that. Yeah, exactly, because
- 13:04Speaker 2: you were talking about how the episode was relevant at
- 13:06Speaker 2: the time. So but yeah, it was just shout out
- 13:08Speaker 2: to Elliott, who was just going through a really shit
- 13:10Speaker 2: time in that moment, borne his eyes out and it
- 13:12Speaker 2: was just such absolutely when they came back and the
- 13:16Speaker 2: Cats one at the end, it was just like, honestly
- 13:17Speaker 2: one of the greatest moments of my life just being
- 13:19Speaker 2: there with Elliott. Sure. Yeah, because well I watched it
- 13:22Speaker 2: with the Lovely Louise.
- 13:23Speaker 5: I got over there. You picked up some Japanese. When
- 13:26Speaker 5: I got there, like the tail end of the first
- 13:28Speaker 5: quart it's like, holy shit, we're going down. This is
- 13:30Speaker 5: not looking good. I didn't say we're going down. I
- 13:32Speaker 5: was like, oh, this isn't looking good. For the Cats
- 13:34Speaker 5: enjoyed our bento box. Cats started to lift. You know,
- 13:39Speaker 5: we're leading at half time. Was important by one point,
- 13:42Speaker 5: it's like this is good. This is not just good
- 13:44Speaker 5: from a point standpoint, but also yeah, a psychological standpoint,
- 13:47Speaker 5: even if only one point up, that's great. Second half. Bang,
- 13:53Speaker 5: it was a remarkable I'm sorry, we don't want to
- 13:54Speaker 5: turn this into you know, wide wild sports, but.
- 13:57Speaker 2: It took five minutes. Oh absolutely, yeah, but and also yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 2: the Cats will generally start well and they may not
- 14:05Speaker 2: have a lot left in the tank by the by
- 14:08Speaker 2: the end. It's usually the way around, and now.
- 14:10Speaker 5: It's the other way because you looked at the Cats
- 14:12Speaker 5: by the end of the by the end of this match,
- 14:14Speaker 5: they could have gone a whole other quarter.
- 14:16Speaker 2: They wear you out and they just go boom Tyson.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Oh absolutely their homer with boxing punch and bunch, punch,
- 14:22Speaker 2: punch and just push him over.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Yeah, there was a bit with yeah, the controversial Bailey Smith.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Fantastic player, sure about him off the field, but he
- 14:32Speaker 5: got the ball and broke away from the packets. Some
- 14:33Speaker 5: says like, holy shit, it's like this guy just gone
- 14:35Speaker 5: and just stand it on the field. Incredible, fantastic stuff.
- 14:38Speaker 5: But you know, you've got other shows that you may
- 14:41Speaker 5: watch on television or listen to for that kind of stuff.
- 14:43Speaker 5: We'll talk about the since instead other stuff that I liked.
- 14:46Speaker 5: This episode was fine. This episode was good. I enjoyed
- 14:48Speaker 5: it for the twenty something minute duration. What would have
- 14:50Speaker 5: made it great if the whole twenty something minutes was
- 14:53Speaker 5: basically that Rodney data Academy.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I feel like that was Hank doing the Rodney Dangerfield
- 14:59Speaker 2: I think so, yeah, when did he die? Two and nine?
- 15:02Speaker 2: I'm not sure when Rodney.
- 15:03Speaker 5: Actually that was basically good good gags. Oh yeah, it
- 15:07Speaker 5: was just back to school. It was just the Rodney
- 15:09Speaker 5: Dangersfield movie Back to School, which is a fucking stone
- 15:11Speaker 5: cold classic that you should check.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Out well and dow gag will be the she It
- 15:19Speaker 2: was just a great share at four he passed away.
- 15:22Speaker 5: Not just a Rodney, but you know that whole tradition
- 15:24Speaker 5: of like slobs or wise guys just sort of not
- 15:28Speaker 5: poking fun at various but they always tend to have
- 15:31Speaker 5: like a straight woman who's a bit stuffy and kind
- 15:32Speaker 5: of like, oh no, you know, the Marx Brothers did it.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Rodney did it, And this was fantastic. I just enjoyed
- 15:38Speaker 5: it so much. Plus he got a little George Plimpton
- 15:41Speaker 5: shattered as well, because he was the I guess crusty Dean.
- 15:44Speaker 5: If you've seen Goodwill Hunting, Sorry I keep looking at
- 15:46Speaker 5: the camera, but yeah, you may remember him. He's the
- 15:49Speaker 5: He's the shrink that Goodwill he's trying. You need to clean.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you need clear backt with Hunting. No more Bally
- 15:58Speaker 2: who than you know? Wills? Like, do you heart?
- 16:01Speaker 5: Do you find it hard to hide the fact that
- 16:03Speaker 5: you're gay?
- 16:06Speaker 1: What?
- 16:06Speaker 2: What? I don't know.
- 16:09Speaker 5: I just laughed very much at that whole thing. I
- 16:11Speaker 5: thought the whole high brow academy thing was just hilarious
- 16:14Speaker 5: for me.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Rodney's best bit on The Simpsons put it back in
- 16:18Speaker 2: She's not done yet, debuted this past season just love.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Oh my god. I think it was this spring. It
- 16:39Speaker 2: was something that put it back in. Rodney. What a lure.
- 16:43Speaker 2: That man just had cracker Jack watching him on talk shows.
- 16:47Speaker 2: He would just sit there for tennis and just throw
- 16:50Speaker 2: jokes and like wouldn't work, but he just keep sucking going,
- 16:53Speaker 2: Oh yeah, just yeah, what you call dad joke? Yeah?
- 16:57Speaker 2: My wife, I tell you. I said, you want to
- 17:02Speaker 2: go on vacation. I'd like to go somewhere I've never
- 17:04Speaker 2: been before. So I said, how about the kitchen. It's like,
- 17:08Speaker 2: that's real pine eid stuff, but it's also just my nose.
- 17:12Speaker 2: He's joking though, Oh yeah, yeah, fantastic. Those were my
- 17:16Speaker 2: favorite moms. What did you enjoy? Oh you put literally
- 17:18Speaker 2: now two of mine high by Academy and missus k Yeah,
- 17:22Speaker 2: so what else did I have? My favorite moms? Just
- 17:23Speaker 2: get him back up? There was there anything else? I
- 17:25Speaker 2: didn't mind when Zach was crashing out and Skinner was
- 17:28Speaker 2: like faculty talking in the hallway, because that's one thing
- 17:32Speaker 2: when you're kid of school, what did the teachers actually do?
- 17:34Speaker 2: And you see him go in, you try and peek in.
- 17:36Speaker 2: But I remember only once in high school the teacher
- 17:39Speaker 2: said I need to get can you get something for
- 17:41Speaker 2: me out of the at the teacher's lounge we call
- 17:42Speaker 2: here the teachers can teachers land or whatever, and we're
- 17:44Speaker 2: in there, and I felt like I am not supposed
- 17:47Speaker 2: to be getting in and going. It's kind of boring here,
- 17:50Speaker 2: but I felt like so weird. I was like, I'm
- 17:52Speaker 2: in the teacher's lounge. Yeah, did you ever get into
- 17:54Speaker 2: the teacher's lands of school?
- 17:55Speaker 5: I sore inside it once inside the stuff him as
- 17:58Speaker 5: we call.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Stuff, and that's what we call it.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, just a brief glimpse through the door, and
- 18:03Speaker 5: you know, see having their coffee, comfortable chairs and a
- 18:07Speaker 5: coffee table.
- 18:07Speaker 2: I believe they call that tasty in there.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Yeah, it looked like someone will smoking a cigarette.
- 18:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:11Speaker 2: So this was the seventh where he said he cooks
- 18:15Speaker 2: on the TV. Yeah, good times. Yes. This show is

- 18:48Speaker 2: All right, trivia time. My first question for you is
- 18:53Speaker 2: what was the flavor of the Goddess bar? Is that
- 18:55Speaker 2: your first question? You smile? My first question lunar lemon
- 18:59Speaker 2: of the Goddess Bar? Correct?
- 19:02Speaker 5: My first question to you then, Ye, the word jammers
- 19:06Speaker 5: is recommended from age.
- 19:07Speaker 2: What to what? Oh? Talking about the computer game word jammers.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I know it's like three to five or something, so
- 19:15Speaker 2: it was actually six to twelve twelve. It's really basic
- 19:18Speaker 2: worth though, I know, but I get the filling. That
- 19:20Speaker 2: was a pretty basic game, yeah, on a pretty basic computer. Okay,
- 19:23Speaker 2: My next question for you is twenty minutes of what
- 19:26Speaker 2: was that was the homework that Zach gives them? Tweeting,
- 19:31Speaker 2: twittering as it's called two and nine. Apparently all are twittering,
- 19:34Speaker 2: Oh okay, minutes of twitter Yeah, now known as h Yeah,
- 19:39Speaker 2: anyone call it that. I think anyone calls it X No.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I think people are promoting their Twitter go my Twitter
- 19:45Speaker 2: handle is this? It's still Twitter? Oh very much. Though,
- 19:48Speaker 2: not to get too political, you can cut this out
- 19:49Speaker 2: if you like. Apparently Elon and Donald have made up.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Oh fair enough. Yes, they were apparently hugging it out
- 19:54Speaker 2: at the memorial service, one Charles Kirk. Maybe Elon wants
- 19:57Speaker 2: front row tickets to the UFC on the White House.
- 20:00Speaker 2: That's classy, that's classy events.
- 20:04Speaker 5: Oh my good, UFC. Oh my god, we're not going
- 20:07Speaker 5: to talk anymore. We might get canceled. Like Kemel, I
- 20:11Speaker 5: was going to ask this. I figured it was gonna
- 20:14Speaker 5: be one of those sorrow questions, but it got used
- 20:16Speaker 5: a fair bit, so you'll you will know the answer
- 20:18Speaker 5: to this. But what is Zach's energy energy drink of
- 20:21Speaker 5: choice Blue Broncho. It's blue Broncho, Yes, yes, And my
- 20:24Speaker 5: final question for you is what is the name of
- 20:26Speaker 5: the newspaper the skinner reads? I think skin, Yeah, skinner
- 20:29Speaker 5: reads and finds out missus k is drunk and she
- 20:31Speaker 5: said size of principal's penis damn it. I remember just
- 20:35Speaker 5: about everything else. It was it the fourth grader? Well,
- 20:37Speaker 5: fourth Gradiano Grady is nice. Any more questions for me?
- 20:41Speaker 2: I got one more? Hit me? What is Edna Kay's
- 20:43Speaker 2: mailing address? Oh? I have no idea because she got
- 20:47Speaker 2: a lot of letters until they are put a little
- 20:48Speaker 2: smiley sticks on them. Ah.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, she's on eighty two Evergreen Terrorists. I thought
- 20:54Speaker 5: she lived in an apartment so is it like.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it didn't have like a number.
- 20:58Speaker 5: Dash's weird, Yeah she was. I swear it looked like
- 21:01Speaker 5: an apartment complex, didn't it.
- 21:02Speaker 2: It did? Well, I know she lives in apartment complex,
- 21:04Speaker 2: but yeah, I'm trying to remember whether we saw it
- 21:06Speaker 2: from the outside and this wanted to be have any
- 21:07Speaker 2: exterior shots of the year. I think we did be Okay, anyway,
- 21:11Speaker 2: this is Kay good lover, what a what a lady.

- 22:15Speaker 2: of that guy, Ben's still right. The kids watched the
- 22:17Speaker 2: movie the other day called Heavyweights, and it's about fat
- 22:20Speaker 2: camp and whatnot. It is Nicholas watching it going watching
- 22:24Speaker 2: his name is appropriate. It's very it's very of his time.
- 22:27Speaker 2: I was like, there's no ninety four and Ben still
- 22:29Speaker 2: is in it, and I was gonna message you. At
- 22:30Speaker 2: the time, I thought I won't bother them on the weekend,
- 22:32Speaker 2: but I thought Ben's still a right. Has he just
- 22:34Speaker 2: gotten away with having a career pretty much playing the
- 22:36Speaker 2: same character in like ninety five percent of his films.
- 22:38Speaker 2: He's just the same thing. There is a bit of that. Yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 2: it's just the same thing. Granted there are some roles
- 22:45Speaker 2: where he's different. I think like a long came poll,
- 22:47Speaker 2: he's more like more a romantic film whatnot. When it
- 22:49Speaker 2: comes to comedy, he's got one bit, he's got a
- 22:52Speaker 2: couple of He's got two modes. He's either the arrogant
- 22:55Speaker 2: I'm an arrogant work, Yeah, we do about it.
- 22:57Speaker 5: It's he's either happy Gilmore mode yeah, or he's along
- 23:02Speaker 5: came polymode yeah, where he's or meet the parents mode.
- 23:06Speaker 5: Shall we say where he's put upon? Yeah, and yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 5: that's pretty much it. I mean, look talented guy, absolutely.
- 23:13Speaker 5: I mean he's done some superb work behind the camera,
- 23:15Speaker 5: and I kind of like him on screen as well.
- 23:17Speaker 5: But yeah, I wouldn't say he's got the biggest range.
- 23:21Speaker 2: All right, So let's get into a review of Bart
- 23:23Speaker 2: gets a z Z. We go on with Z Bart
- 23:26Speaker 2: gets a Z. The original edit of this episode was
- 23:29Speaker 2: a top fourth two thousand and nine of the top
- 23:30Speaker 2: three films at the box office. Number three was a
- 23:33Speaker 2: re release of Toy Story. Wow, it would have been
- 23:35Speaker 2: the fourteenth anniversary how we why? Maybe two? Toy Story
- 23:39Speaker 2: three was coming out of something possibly anyway. Number two
- 23:42Speaker 2: was Cloudy with a Chance of meat Balls, and number
- 23:44Speaker 2: one was zombie Land. Oh, not a bad movie. I've
- 23:47Speaker 2: never watched it. It's pretty good.
- 23:49Speaker 5: You can avoid this too, right, Yeah, so he can
- 23:50Speaker 5: avoid zombie Land? Double Tapody, Haraldson one, Jesse Eisenberg, Yes, Emstone,
- 23:55Speaker 5: the afore mentioned Emmstone, and Little in the Sunshine herself.
- 23:59Speaker 5: For Abigail Bresley, isn't Bill Murray in that movie? I
- 24:02Speaker 5: don't know, it's a spoiler.
- 24:04Speaker 2: No, he's in it. Okay, yes, yeah, and number four
- 24:08Speaker 2: was Surrogates. If you don't do the re release Surrogates
- 24:11Speaker 2: any good? Well, we talked, we talkedout last week was
- 24:13Speaker 2: this movie that I'm not gonna spoil. Okay, all right?
- 24:17Speaker 2: And the episode, as we said, was written by Matt Salmon,
- 24:20Speaker 2: directed by Mark Kirklan. Plushure code l A B F
- 24:23Speaker 2: one five chort board gag. Chop boarding is not torture.
- 24:26Speaker 2: And the catch gig was the Simpsons of or Juste
- 24:28Speaker 2: cowboys shooting at each other and Maggie has one of those,
- 24:30Speaker 2: one of these a machine gun. It's yattling gun. I
- 24:32Speaker 2: believe it's just it looks like a machine gun. Yes,
- 24:34Speaker 2: and that is America in America. Boy, by the way,
- 24:38Speaker 2: Billboard gag new segment Billboard, Yeah, what was it? It
- 24:41Speaker 2: can be your bit. You can do the billboard gag.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Can I'll be chop billboard? It was my understanding there
- 24:46Speaker 2: would be no extra work. No, I'm having too bad, Okay.
- 24:49Speaker 2: The billboard is a poo the Quicker Mart saying porno
- 24:53Speaker 2: is now on the lower shelf. Oh for you kid,
- 24:55Speaker 2: he's out there. No porno sounds so much then poor
- 25:00Speaker 2: it does porno. I watch porno. Well, sounds very ousy.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I said to Nicola, I want to make a porn film.
- 25:06Speaker 2: She'd be like, I watch to both make a porno.
- 25:08Speaker 2: She like it sounds makes sounds so dirty. So yes,
- 25:11Speaker 2: it sounds very ossy porno. So lend me alone on
- 25:17Speaker 2: me smoke. Ca shouted to the chats, they're be coming
- 25:21Speaker 2: on the show. They will come on the show. We'll
- 25:22Speaker 2: make it happen. Listening to smoke a lot over there,
- 25:25Speaker 2: and such a good song, such a good song. So
- 25:27Speaker 2: the episode kicks off of missus k. It's pretty much
- 25:29Speaker 2: just a spotlight on what her life is like. Who
- 25:32Speaker 2: sings that song? Is that so that? This was Another Day?
- 25:36Speaker 2: Is the song? It's just another Day? It was Paul
- 25:38Speaker 2: McCartney's first solo single, released in nineteen seventy one, Just Paul,
- 25:42Speaker 2: not Paul and Wings Paul, Paul's first solo single not
- 25:46Speaker 2: released on an album. It was just a single, okay, yeah,
- 25:49Speaker 2: apparently co written by his wife, Linda Nice McCartney. What
- 25:52Speaker 2: a guy. Yes, indeed, yeah, So it's just him and
- 25:55Speaker 2: Ringo left now, isn't it. I'm glad I've got to
- 25:57Speaker 2: see him live. It's one of those thing where it's
- 25:59Speaker 2: like you're off the bucket list lot, we're going to
- 26:01Speaker 2: see Oasis, Like I really like Oasis, but it's like
- 26:04Speaker 2: it's like a couple of days on the weekend. A
- 26:05Speaker 2: couple of days ago on the weekend, I said Nickolin,
- 26:06Speaker 2: do I just want to sell our tickets? Can we begoved?
- 26:08Speaker 2: And she's like no, no, it's like Oasis is one
- 26:10Speaker 2: of those bands. Was like, yes, tick it off. Oh yeah,
- 26:12Speaker 2: that's the thing. I mean, I'm I'm probably never going
- 26:14Speaker 2: to see the Stones and there's all there's I've never
- 26:17Speaker 2: seen him either, Yeah, we can't see the original band Elton.
- 26:20Speaker 2: I was like, I saw Alton. Yeah, it's just again
- 26:22Speaker 2: bucket list. Yeah, there are certain buckets. Never got to
- 26:26Speaker 2: see Jackson, Michael Jackson, m where you go see MJ
- 26:29Speaker 2: the musical? I could, Yeah.
- 26:31Speaker 5: I was recording episode of the movie Guy with Molton
- 26:34Speaker 5: Davis this morning. It's a remembrance of the late great
- 26:37Speaker 5: Robert Redford. But we were sort of talking about how, yeah,
- 26:40Speaker 5: we're entering this twilight phase where were going to be
- 26:41Speaker 5: you know, next couple of years, we're going to be
- 26:44Speaker 5: losing Michael Caine, We're going to be losing Jack Nicholson,
- 26:46Speaker 5: We're going to be losing Martin Scorsese. You know, Spielberg's
- 26:48Speaker 5: probably close to being in his eighties. Ye, Robert de Val,
- 26:52Speaker 5: he's going to go. It's John Williams, Yeah, oh my goodness, yeah,
- 26:55Speaker 5: John yea Johnson his nineties.
- 26:57Speaker 2: But I think when John Williams goes, Hollywood won't feel
- 26:59Speaker 2: the same anymore. It already doesn't, but it's even dimmer.
- 27:03Speaker 2: It can't get back to what it was.
- 27:04Speaker 5: But at the same time, you know, Clein Eastward's ninety
- 27:07Speaker 5: five and you're saying might direct now the movie.
- 27:09Speaker 2: It's like you shan't do it? Do it? Yeah? Yeah, yeah.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Missus case, her life is just basically it's groundhole days.
- 27:16Speaker 2: She's waking up surrounded by test papers that she's obviously
- 27:19Speaker 2: been doing after hours later at night, laying in bed,
- 27:21Speaker 2: she's fallen asleep. She's just marking bee and everything just
- 27:23Speaker 2: to sort of get through the day, including Nelson and
- 27:25Speaker 2: Martin both get a bee. She's replacing her wine from
- 27:28Speaker 2: the night pride with her mouth washes to get through
- 27:30Speaker 2: it all, just clean her mouth out. She threw a
- 27:33Speaker 2: sit ups a broken style. I think someone said the
- 27:35Speaker 2: woman says, your new husband or whatever, you're a man
- 27:37Speaker 2: going to love these new abs, and she's just nuts.
- 27:39Speaker 2: She rolls over face down in cold water. Yep. And
- 27:43Speaker 2: then she dips a the bar. What is it, goddess bar?
- 27:46Speaker 2: It's a lunar lemon goddess bar. But dips in the peanut.
- 27:48Speaker 2: But but it doesn't finish it. And I saw that
- 27:50Speaker 2: moment I went, that's so relatable as just like dad
- 27:53Speaker 2: life of in the morning. I've been spending all morning
- 27:55Speaker 2: geting the kids with he', getting them dress, getting their
- 27:56Speaker 2: teeth brushed. I haven't looked after myself. I'm aout to
- 27:58Speaker 2: live like shit, I'm not dressed, haven't my teeth. I
- 28:00Speaker 2: just grove like a musically bar on the way and
- 28:02Speaker 2: I don't even ever finish, take a bite, leave on
- 28:03Speaker 2: the kitchen bench. It's like, this is what life is
- 28:05Speaker 2: like when you're trying to raise little kids. Sure, yeah,
- 28:07Speaker 2: he's gonna just get through the day basically. But she
- 28:10Speaker 2: now arrives. First of all, she gets to school, she
- 28:12Speaker 2: is singing the song Let's transition to her in the car. Yes,
- 28:15Speaker 2: that song is now playing on the radio. And then
- 28:17Speaker 2: young guys mock her for singing a million year old song.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Fuck those guys, I know, right, Fuck those guys. Me though,
- 28:24Speaker 2: We're driving home from the Cat's open training session this
- 28:26Speaker 2: morning and we listened Teenage dirt Bake came on. Because
- 28:30Speaker 2: I listened to teenage dirt Bag. No shout to Brendan
- 28:32Speaker 2: Brown singing. Void just came in the show last year.
- 28:35Speaker 2: The kids really like teenage Jr. Bak the song, and
- 28:36Speaker 2: Ali's friend's like, my young I was like, teage bag,
- 28:39Speaker 2: it's a great song. And now I thought about it,
- 28:40Speaker 2: I went, you know what, this is the equivalent of
- 28:42Speaker 2: me putting on my mum putting on a song from
- 28:43Speaker 2: the sixties when I was a kid.
- 28:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm listening to you brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show
- 28:49Speaker 5: by Neil Darmond's like, what a bang it?
- 28:51Speaker 2: I was raised on Abra and Meatloaf. Oh yeah, it
- 28:53Speaker 2: was just like ab the Gold and bad Ada. Hell
- 28:56Speaker 2: that was just what That's all Mum and dad? Good music?
- 29:00Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, anyone who bad MOUs Abba doesn't get music, mate?
- 29:03Speaker 2: Oh no, the idiots people used to say Abba is
- 29:07Speaker 2: just so overrated. I'm like, sure, buddy, sure you're over
- 29:13Speaker 2: So now at school, she takes a big deep breath
- 29:15Speaker 2: before she goes into the classroom. She's like, what to say.
- 29:17Speaker 2: If I can teach one kid one thing today, that's
- 29:19Speaker 2: been a success, that's all got to do. Teach one
- 29:21Speaker 2: kid something and she enters the root. Okay, I got
- 29:23Speaker 2: so much time for teachers, especially now, especially now that
- 29:26Speaker 2: I've got kids and I know the soone at school
- 29:29Speaker 2: trying to teach them and seeing that they actually are
- 29:31Speaker 2: learning stuff right, Like, these these teachers aren't just doing nothing.
- 29:34Speaker 2: I will say that I feel like now more than
- 29:37Speaker 2: when I was growing up, they're watching a lot more
- 29:39Speaker 2: screens like TV and watching YouTube videos and stuff. And
- 29:42Speaker 2: I'm thinking, I understand that you've got to progress, and
- 29:45Speaker 2: it probably is easy for the teachers. You got to
- 29:47Speaker 2: take some strength to teachers. But they're going to school
- 29:50Speaker 2: and just watching a screen. Yeah, well, ways of learning
- 29:52Speaker 2: are evolving at at the same time, think a teacher
- 29:56Speaker 2: would be hard, Oh yeah, undervalued? Lou asked if I
- 29:59Speaker 2: wanted retrains the teacher. I'm like, you couldn't pay me enough,
- 30:02Speaker 2: and you probably wouldn't pay me enough because the kids
- 30:05Speaker 2: never appreciate you in the moment. Some kids do, obviously,
- 30:08Speaker 2: but yeah, it's just it's when they look back and go,
- 30:10Speaker 2: oh ship, yeah they helped me.
- 30:11Speaker 5: Yeah, but yeah, my sister at Weena, there's been a
- 30:14Speaker 5: lifelong teacher what got us in Hillary mostly primary And
- 30:19Speaker 5: still she's at the tail and the degree now and
- 30:21Speaker 5: she I can see how just which is elementar? Yeah yeah,
- 30:26Speaker 5: but it's like, oh man, clearly just wearing her out.
- 30:29Speaker 5: And I don't mean that a bay way for a waeno.
- 30:32Speaker 5: I just mean that the system and the way kids
- 30:35Speaker 5: are these days and all this kind of stuff is
- 30:36Speaker 5: like they.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Really ramping up the degree of difficulty in a lot
- 30:39Speaker 2: of ways. What you can and can do, well you
- 30:42Speaker 2: can't do Yeah yeah, I mean, well I can't slam
- 30:44Speaker 2: around anymore teaching what's what exactly? But so she walks
- 30:49Speaker 2: in and all the kids just have foes in their hands.
- 30:55Speaker 7: Now, class class past, least have that giant text agle
- 31:02Speaker 7: text agle, your hair.
- 31:09Speaker 6: Your children? Why do you all need cell phones?
- 31:12Speaker 4: Safety? Emergency, safety, educational?
- 31:16Speaker 2: Could you at least set them to vibrate?
- 31:24Speaker 6: That's it? Everything in the box.
- 31:26Speaker 2: She takes all the phones off and puts them in
- 31:28Speaker 2: a box. What was on the box Laryeah, Larry box carton.
- 31:32Speaker 2: So then she chucked them in the drawer with all
- 31:34Speaker 2: the biology frogs. Then Nelson asks her to teach something
- 31:36Speaker 2: with the knowledge that in her head, and she quickly realizes, oh, yeah, shit,
- 31:40Speaker 2: even I can't do that. So what does she do?
- 31:42Speaker 2: She pulls out the game, pulls out word jammers. Yeah,
- 31:44Speaker 2: word jammers, which is spelling game, very rudimentary. You have
- 31:48Speaker 2: the old floppy discs, the really big ones, but five
- 31:50Speaker 2: and a half inch floppies that what they called. But
- 31:53Speaker 2: we alwish we had one, and I took that person.
- 31:59Speaker 2: But then a bit of a poor taste gaging when
- 32:02Speaker 2: Nelson says, my stoked, our grandfather has more memory than
- 32:04Speaker 2: that thing. I thought, yeah, I mean it's not terrible,
- 32:06Speaker 2: but it's just well, you know, they cover their butt bye,
- 32:09Speaker 2: you know, having that whole house. How's he doing? No,
- 32:12Speaker 2: he's doing great. I do feel like they do that
- 32:14Speaker 2: kind of joke a lot at the moment. I think
- 32:16Speaker 2: it was last time saying somebody's taxes in the first
- 32:18Speaker 2: episode and they go like, ohy, how is that situation?
- 32:21Speaker 2: And got no good. It's like they make a mean
- 32:24Speaker 2: spirit of joke and it's like, by the way, how
- 32:26Speaker 2: is that person? Yeah? Just I know whatever, We're.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Two episodes in and they're already recycling game.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Well the recycling the way the episodes end as well,
- 32:33Speaker 2: we didn't get to the secret. We should probably touch
- 32:35Speaker 2: the se talk about there get the secret. Yeah, so
- 32:38Speaker 2: it's now the kids were having a meeting in Bat's
- 32:40Speaker 2: backyard because how dare the teacher take away our phones
- 32:43Speaker 2: during class? I thought, did any still ever allow phones
- 32:46Speaker 2: during class? Not really, No, I think we were allowed
- 32:49Speaker 2: to have our phones but had to be turned off.
- 32:50Speaker 2: I do remember like playing Snake on one Nokia thirty
- 32:53Speaker 2: three fifteen. This is way before my time, or way
- 32:55Speaker 2: way you were playing your game and watch I was
- 33:00Speaker 2: bringing the old landline. Yes, the typewriter. They did find
- 33:06Speaker 2: a way to help missus k chill out, and I
- 33:07Speaker 2: thought that's what I liked about this episode, the angle
- 33:09Speaker 2: of but didn't get her fired from being a shithead.
- 33:13Speaker 2: It was more immaturity and not thinking of the consequences
- 33:15Speaker 2: of his actions. He just wanted to make her chill
- 33:17Speaker 2: out so they could use their phones, not get her fired. Yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 2: this reminded me of something time from a guy to
- 33:22Speaker 2: put on his movie nerd Hat. Okay, there was a
- 33:24Speaker 2: movie that came out in twenty twenty a Danish film
- 33:28Speaker 2: ilo called Another Round that was the English title, basically
- 33:31Speaker 2: about these four friends who were sort of in the
- 33:33Speaker 2: in middle age. They all work as teachers at this school.
- 33:36Speaker 5: They're all area primary secondary. Yep, they're all feeling a
- 33:39Speaker 5: bit kind of God, what's the point. Yeah, they've got
- 33:42Speaker 5: typict midlife malaise, but also, you know, work in the education. Said, no,
- 33:46Speaker 5: one's listening to what's a white Pilot episode? Kind of
- 33:49Speaker 5: kind of that thing. One of them is like, I
- 33:52Speaker 5: would be scientists, and he said, I've read this study
- 33:56Speaker 5: that says if human beings have like a slightly elevated
- 34:00Speaker 5: blood alcohol content, they operate more efficiently.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Really waste movement on playing sneaker. Oh yeah, we're going
- 34:06Speaker 2: to do this in an experiment.
- 34:07Speaker 5: We're going to take a very small amount of alcohol
- 34:09Speaker 5: in the mornings and we'll see how that affects our
- 34:12Speaker 5: lives and how you know, not enough to make us drunk,
- 34:14Speaker 5: but enough to just sort.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Of lift lift us up a little bit. Yeah, and yeah,
- 34:18Speaker 2: put a bit of sous on it, and for a while,
- 34:20Speaker 2: for a while, it works, but then, of course other
- 34:23Speaker 2: things get in the way. But it's a it's a
- 34:25Speaker 2: really really good movie. I mean SMIng is someone who's
- 34:28Speaker 2: quite unquite middle aged. Really hits home in a lot
- 34:33Speaker 2: of ways. Dur performance by Mads Michelson and the lead
- 34:35Speaker 2: you're aware of Mads. He is in Rogue One, He's
- 34:39Speaker 2: the guy who but built the floor into the Dead Star.
- 34:42Speaker 2: He's Doctor Stranger's enemy in the First Time Strange. But
- 34:45Speaker 2: he's probably best known as Hannibal in the TV series Hands. Yeah,
- 34:48Speaker 2: great show. You love Hannible Love Hannibal. Rewatched it recently
- 34:52Speaker 2: all three seasons. Good show, but yeah, definitely worth checking
- 34:55Speaker 2: out if you'll. Yeah, it's called Another Round, and I
- 34:59Speaker 2: think they're trying to do a American remake with Chris
- 35:01Speaker 2: Rock more people. But yeah, that's what this reminded me of.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Feel she might feel better if she just gets a
- 35:07Speaker 5: little bit of pep in a step, by which I
- 35:08Speaker 5: mean a little booze and the sistan they.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Go too far, They go too far. They do go
- 35:11Speaker 2: too far. Indeed, so before they do it that I
- 35:12Speaker 2: think it's they're gonna put the booze coffee out there.
- 35:15Speaker 2: That's what they sees.
- 35:17Speaker 5: Well, yeah, they're using Homer as an example. And I
- 35:20Speaker 5: must admit this first it was kind of like, oh God,
- 35:22Speaker 5: we're going is this going to be a homer all
- 35:24Speaker 5: through the episode?
- 35:24Speaker 2: Because I hated that was pretty shit throout this entire episode. Really, Yeah,
- 35:29Speaker 2: but this was the lowest of it as far as
- 35:31Speaker 2: I'm concerned. Yeah, probably there are other bits and pieces
- 35:34Speaker 2: and throughout you I'll be the dog and you be there. Yeah.
- 35:37Speaker 2: But then all of a sudden, all those clothes are gone.
- 35:38Speaker 2: I'm like, what the dog's wearing his clothes? Yeah, But
- 35:42Speaker 2: they say, well, my dad's always happy when his drunks
- 35:44Speaker 2: will try and make her happier by putting booz in hers,
- 35:45Speaker 2: and he sends them off to go get their own
- 35:47Speaker 2: various boozes alcohol from the house and Millhouse has like
- 35:50Speaker 2: the alcohol cabinet because she's a alcoholic. I think Hibbitt's
- 35:54Speaker 2: son uses it the ringe to get wine out of
- 35:57Speaker 2: the bottle or something back in his arm to make
- 35:59Speaker 2: him happy again.
- 36:01Speaker 5: Nelson that mum is working at the Is mom working
- 36:03Speaker 5: the strip clothes?
- 36:04Speaker 2: Yeah, she's dancing and he's collecting the money yeah.
- 36:07Speaker 5: Again and tipping half drinks into his bucket. And there
- 36:11Speaker 5: is also a delivery of absolute crusty.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Yes, I'm twenty one years old. Yes, I am if
- 36:18Speaker 2: you need so. Then we're at school and they say
- 36:21Speaker 2: they're looking at the door, and they say, she's almost
- 36:23Speaker 2: done flirting with the vending machine guy. So they quickly
- 36:25Speaker 2: step the booze and her coffee and they say, Hazel
- 36:28Speaker 2: not Kreamer, covers all the sins, so she'll be able
- 36:30Speaker 2: to tell this alcohol in there, and then she's not
- 36:33Speaker 2: completely wasting class. She gives Millhouse an extra siket because
- 36:35Speaker 2: she says, you're gonna have a really hard life. She
- 36:37Speaker 2: can't write in the top board. She's just yeah, she's
- 36:39Speaker 2: going downhill fast. She's really drunk. Seventy good time though,
- 36:42Speaker 2: well yeah, and also talent like it is because as
- 36:45Speaker 2: our friends in the olden daisy to say, in vino veritause, yes,
- 36:49Speaker 2: in wine there is truth. But then she goes and
- 36:51Speaker 2: she interrupts the Exchange student assembly. I did like the song.
- 36:55Speaker 6: You you know why they call it a choir? Because
- 37:09Speaker 6: choir are we listening to this crap? These pantyholes are
- 37:14Speaker 6: all twisted.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Up, and that please, even the Union can't protect you
- 37:17Speaker 3: from this.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Give me one night, Dewey, I'll get you off Broadway.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Never missus k never anyone who could just say give
- 37:31Speaker 2: me one night, like, yes, man, I'll take it, and
- 37:35Speaker 2: then she runs away from Skinner and we come back
- 37:37Speaker 2: from commercial. She's made front page of the Daily fourth
- 37:39Speaker 2: Gradient and she reveals that teacher reveals side of the
- 37:44Speaker 2: pend wang wang yeah wang yeh Jimbo no is wasted
- 37:47Speaker 2: and this was wasted ye. Skinner then fires her, let's
- 37:50Speaker 2: it go, and she says, I'm gonna cry. So he
- 37:51Speaker 2: tries to make it feel bit about giving her a hanky,
- 37:53Speaker 2: but it's a magic hanky.
- 37:55Speaker 5: Magic tricks, which had a nice payoff with the revolving chair.
- 37:58Speaker 2: She was a private moment. He'spin around as a rabbit
- 38:01Speaker 2: and he's trying to get out under the rug and
- 38:03Speaker 2: I think he says like he's a formulat to extend
- 38:05Speaker 2: your health insurance, something along those lines. Anyway, the kids
- 38:07Speaker 2: are all watching her leave at the window and but
- 38:08Speaker 2: it's like, you know what, maybe I should come clean.
- 38:10Speaker 2: But as he's pondering that, that's when Zagary Vaughan Vaughan
- 38:15Speaker 2: Yvonne walks in. He's an med from Tufts University.
- 38:18Speaker 5: Yeah, it's the kind of name that you to have
- 38:19Speaker 5: on you know, like hanging with mister Cooper or saved
- 38:22Speaker 5: by the bell. When the new yeah, when the new
- 38:24Speaker 5: cool teacher works up, Hey kids, a mister Vaughan, but
- 38:27Speaker 5: you can call me Zach attack.
- 38:29Speaker 2: I feel like those teachers never work, as we're saying earlier,
- 38:31Speaker 2: because you feel it's so cool, but it comes to
- 38:33Speaker 2: point where they have to be a teacher. Oh yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 2: and then you're just like you no, no, you're one
- 38:37Speaker 2: of us. I don't respect. Yeah, and you have no respect,
- 38:39Speaker 2: and they don't listen, and then they crack and they
- 38:42Speaker 2: lose it.
- 38:42Speaker 5: That's correct. They crash out, as one dando.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Might say, yes, but he gives all their phones back
- 38:48Speaker 2: and he says, your homework is just twenty minutes of twittering.
- 38:50Speaker 2: And I think a millhouse is that text was well
- 38:53Speaker 2: worth the fifteenth cents to receive it, and I was like, wow,
- 38:56Speaker 2: that was really a thing. We used to have to
- 38:58Speaker 2: pay the text. That's that's why, thankfully, because that's no
- 39:01Speaker 2: longer a thing. I feel like abbreviated words is gone now,
- 39:05Speaker 2: that's right. Do people still stay long yes? Or you are? Yeah?
- 39:10Speaker 2: You are? Emojencys is a new thing, yeah, of course, yeah,
- 39:13Speaker 2: but yeah, just which is.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Probably even more damaging. We're basically going back to hieroglyphics,
- 39:17Speaker 5: we used.
- 39:17Speaker 2: To say like wehender, like w E n d A whender. Hell,
- 39:21Speaker 2: it's just everything was a shortened version wyd what you do?
- 39:25Speaker 2: I'm down? But yeah, so just just crazy. But then
- 39:31Speaker 2: back at home and Bart loves the new teacher because
- 39:33Speaker 2: you know, he's live blogged, he skyped, he even friended
- 39:35Speaker 2: him on Facebook. Again, very out of touch, and marg
- 39:38Speaker 2: just work for missus K and Bar's like, now, how
- 39:40Speaker 2: you got up on the four square court that she's
- 39:41Speaker 2: that she's okay. Then we're at the school again and
- 39:45Speaker 2: Zachary is drinking blue Bronco. Who can tell me what
- 39:47Speaker 2: the Monroe doctrine was? And Martin knows and he's like, wait,
- 39:50Speaker 2: you use your brain for that. You've got your phone,
- 39:52Speaker 2: You've got Google. And it's like, this guy's not a
- 39:54Speaker 2: good teacher. No, No, I can't remember how many times
- 39:58Speaker 2: I've said recently to the always like yeah, we'll be
- 40:02Speaker 2: watching TV's like personal looks familiar or what does someone saw? Actually,
- 40:07Speaker 2: then like, wait a minute, We've got all the information
- 40:10Speaker 2: in the world right here, let's look it up. It's like,
- 40:14Speaker 2: but we should know these things. I had something the
- 40:15Speaker 2: other day I couldn't think of someone's name, right, I
- 40:18Speaker 2: was you know who it was? It was Seth Rogan.
- 40:20Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm like, what was the guy's name? Not
- 40:23Speaker 2: the one I'm like. And I sat there and I
- 40:25Speaker 2: was like, you know what, I am not getting my
- 40:27Speaker 2: phone out. I'm going to sit here and fucking remember it.
- 40:30Speaker 2: And took me about thirty seconds, which felt a lifetime.
- 40:33Speaker 2: I'm like, why can't I think of his name? And
- 40:36Speaker 2: I was like, well, Seth Rogan, and I was like,
- 40:37Speaker 2: such a relief to go. I used my brain for this. Yeah,
- 40:40Speaker 2: but it's like when your phone is running slow and
- 40:42Speaker 2: your hard Drubb is running slow or something. It's like,
- 40:43Speaker 2: we'll get there eventually. But oh my goodness, I've said
- 40:46Speaker 2: yes many times in the past of that. It was scary.
- 40:48Speaker 2: It's in there. Access access, access, access, Yeah, but there's
- 40:55Speaker 2: a relief when I got there, Oh my goodness. I
- 40:57Speaker 2: nearly gave up and nearly went I'll just get my
- 40:58Speaker 2: phone out. I was like, no, no, don't don't do it.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Don't do it. Use that brain of yours. This show

- 41:29Speaker 2: head full of garbage, and then he finds all smiley
- 41:31Speaker 2: stickers and he's basically like, now, I run a paperless classroom.
- 41:35Speaker 2: We don't need any of this nonsense whatever you know,
- 41:37Speaker 2: I use a nonsense punctuation, No tony pond sideways, it's
- 41:41Speaker 2: a smiley face. Imagine the first time someone got that
- 41:44Speaker 2: their mind was fucking blog. Zachary probably thinks always running
- 41:49Speaker 2: a paper free classroom. You know, he's been good for
- 41:52Speaker 2: the environment a little and lowing that you know, data
- 41:54Speaker 2: centers are just destroying the planet exactly. Yeah, And Bart says,
- 41:57Speaker 2: I'll take the stickers to missus Casey as she's going
- 41:59Speaker 2: she probably got a job some fancy school. Cut to
- 42:01Speaker 2: Harrow Academy, make away for the new freshman.
- 42:07Speaker 8: Where do I find the books? The bulls and the bronze. Indeed,
- 42:12Speaker 8: how about a little privacy. I've got a matriculate, sir.
- 42:19Speaker 9: This is a benefit to increase our endowment.
- 42:21Speaker 6: Honey.
- 42:22Speaker 8: If we increase your undumb and anymore, we'll all be
- 42:24Speaker 8: in the sheet. You're all right, Hey, everyone, desert's on me.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Rodney. Yes you think it's Rodney And it pans out.
- 42:34Speaker 2: She's watching the movie on TV, which I thought was, yeah,
- 42:36Speaker 2: very good, but yeah, just roddy hilarious, right, just an
- 42:42Speaker 2: endowment joke. Yes, that's coming up little bit later. But
- 42:44Speaker 2: this is where bart enters. She says, it's sad to
- 42:47Speaker 2: see a teacher falling so low. It is true. It's
- 42:49Speaker 2: weird when you're a kid and you see your teacher
- 42:51Speaker 2: be human. You see them like outside of workouts, just
- 42:54Speaker 2: being normals, like ah, you're not that, you're not missing
- 42:57Speaker 2: so and so, you're just your edna, you know, and
- 43:00Speaker 2: seeing them sometimes overseeing a teacher she was crying in
- 43:03Speaker 2: the hall because something tragically happened, like someone passed away
- 43:06Speaker 2: or whatever. Jobs just be giving the news and it's like,
- 43:08Speaker 2: oh shit, yare the human. Yeah she's like she was
- 43:10Speaker 2: like the mean science teacher. But I'm like, ah, but
- 43:12Speaker 2: you know what, She's not a mean science teat. She's
- 43:14Speaker 2: just someone trying to help us get through life. And
- 43:17Speaker 2: then you're cry and you're like, oh wait, yeah, you're
- 43:19Speaker 2: just a human being.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:20Speaker 2: I've got a teacher that.
- 43:23Speaker 5: I had when I was like in middle school, when
- 43:25Speaker 5: I was like form two year eight something like that,
- 43:28Speaker 5: and I'll see him pop up on the aforementioned Facebook
- 43:30Speaker 5: occasionally in like comments from people of my era. I
- 43:34Speaker 5: don't know how old much older than this and none
- 43:36Speaker 5: this guy is than me, but it still feels weird. Yeah, yeah,
- 43:40Speaker 5: it's like you wouldn't be talking with us, even even
- 43:43Speaker 5: though we're all adults now.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Yeah, the same times thing. I don't know, dude. Yeah,
- 43:47Speaker 2: I saw the teacher who basically got me out of
- 43:49Speaker 2: my anxiety when I was a kid. He like pushed
- 43:51Speaker 2: me in front of the assemblies and I just have
- 43:52Speaker 2: to do this and do that, and like I credit
- 43:53Speaker 2: him for I wouldn't be doing podcasts. It wasn't for
- 43:55Speaker 2: this guy. Steve Dirk is his name, but I still
- 43:57Speaker 2: call him mister Dirk, and he's like, give me, Steve.
- 43:58Speaker 2: I'm like I can't, actually, I just I can't do it,
- 44:02Speaker 2: mister Durkan shout out to Steve and missus case now
- 44:05Speaker 2: putting stickers on overdue payment notes, the one that has
- 44:08Speaker 2: brought to her she hasn't watched her hair for two weeks.
- 44:10Speaker 2: This is actually a good gig. When's the last time
- 44:12Speaker 2: watched your hair? Like two weeks ago? Than me, She says,
- 44:16Speaker 2: I'm out of work, amount of money, and the only
- 44:18Speaker 2: guy that wants me is disco stew Well he's not
- 44:20Speaker 2: just in the disco, apparently he's also a super Christian
- 44:22Speaker 2: super Christian as well. Yeah, but now it's parents night
- 44:25Speaker 2: and on the board it'says zack attack dot com. Look
- 44:27Speaker 2: this up zach attack dot com. Zach Attack is a
- 44:29Speaker 2: cover band for parties for real yeah birthdays. Where are
- 44:34Speaker 2: they based? I think the US? Zach attacked to type
- 44:38Speaker 2: in dot com dot au to get the local version zacho.
- 44:45Speaker 2: So Homer says, basically, it's just like, look, there's a
- 44:48Speaker 2: big game on, don't waste my time, just you know,
- 44:49Speaker 2: tell me this time. Let's get through this and you
- 44:51Speaker 2: can relate. It gives him some money to just sort
- 44:53Speaker 2: of give some good grades. Not a's just something that
- 44:55Speaker 2: incompass yet and then he says, no, lock a challenge,
- 44:59Speaker 2: you know, and and I was like, let's not be stupid.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Then it says to Homer, all you need to do
- 45:03Speaker 2: is relax cause I can see that you're a caring father,
- 45:05Speaker 2: and I'm like that advice would probably help a lot
- 45:08Speaker 2: of men, Like I know you're putting on this tough facade,
- 45:12Speaker 2: but like you can relax. I feel like this, this,
- 45:16Speaker 2: this advice would work for my dad. It's like, I
- 45:18Speaker 2: know that you're loving dad, so just chill. Had a
- 45:21Speaker 2: little bit like you don't have to be so on
- 45:23Speaker 2: on all the time. Yeah, Beho burst out crying, which
- 45:27Speaker 2: I thought went on for too long, but at least
- 45:28Speaker 2: they backed it up with a gag where he said
- 45:30Speaker 2: let it out, let it out, kept going. Yeah, And
- 45:32Speaker 2: I was very much of a mind like, hey, if
- 45:35Speaker 2: I was writing this, I had I would say keep something,
- 45:38Speaker 2: you can keep something, and then and then they said
- 45:40Speaker 2: keep it in and keep it in. Yeah. So I'm
- 45:42Speaker 2: like me and Matt Somelmon, We're pretty.
- 45:43Speaker 6: Much like this.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Take you at dinner next time. Correct, but now at
- 45:49Speaker 2: book of Chino's and they've ordered two hot chocolates with
- 45:52Speaker 2: hot fudge boost. Yeah, Well, what's your best Basically what
- 45:57Speaker 2: you want. Isn't it do you want? Was it a
- 45:59Speaker 2: bookstore or was it video store? You want to? Oh,
- 46:01Speaker 2: all of the but.
- 46:04Speaker 5: No, my my mini dream was always there was a
- 46:07Speaker 5: I've said this before, there was a small cinema in
- 46:09Speaker 5: Geelong called The Picks. Closed now it's been too my
- 46:13Speaker 5: pants at Casper, the Picks Theater understandable. I don't need
- 46:16Speaker 5: to go, and Dad's like, we can wait this ten
- 46:18Speaker 5: minutes left and I was like, I can't wait. I
- 46:19Speaker 5: pissed my pants, Dad, because Casper is so spooky. I
- 46:24Speaker 5: need to relax.
- 46:26Speaker 2: But you need to let your son take of that movie.
- 46:32Speaker 2: I need to see if it becomes human again. I
- 46:35Speaker 2: need to see.
- 46:35Speaker 5: We're going to get another clinics with Cameo. Apparently there's
- 46:38Speaker 5: a cleanest with Cameo in in Casper.
- 46:41Speaker 2: I can't recall. Kids watch it recently.
- 46:42Speaker 5: Yeah, they're like looking in the mirror or something, and oh,
- 46:45Speaker 5: you're right, Gibson in there as well.
- 46:48Speaker 2: I can't remember. I can't remember.
- 46:49Speaker 5: Continue anyway, Yeah, but Picks it's closed now or it's
- 46:52Speaker 5: been refurbished into little townhouses which are kind of ugly
- 46:55Speaker 5: in all honesty. I was like, I love to turn
- 46:57Speaker 5: this into a rep cinema that's open, maybe like re
- 47:00Speaker 5: nights a week shows old movies. It's got a coffee
- 47:02Speaker 5: shop in the front and a bookstrap off to the side. Yes, nice,
- 47:06Speaker 5: a little artistic hub and Elizabeth streets along.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Here we go. Rodney Dangerfield, Eatwitter, Mel Gibson cameo in Casper.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Rodney and there is what do we call that down
- 47:14Speaker 2: unified theory of four finger disc that's insane, right, I
- 47:18Speaker 2: don't know if I don't even know if this camera
- 47:20Speaker 2: is still on. I'm looking at it. It's like the
- 47:25Speaker 2: new name Jones. We're going to this fucking blind. We
- 47:28Speaker 2: didn't know that Rodney danger Bell was in Casper. We're
- 47:30Speaker 2: going to be talking about it. Holy Mullet's Brilly.
- 47:37Speaker 5: But book chetos Yes, but yeah, I mean this used
- 47:42Speaker 5: to be a proper country, used to have things like
- 47:44Speaker 5: Borders Borders bookstore where you could go get a coffee. Yeah,
- 47:47Speaker 5: not necessarily read the buy the book. You can actually
- 47:51Speaker 5: just take it off the shelf and have a bit
- 47:52Speaker 5: of a thumb through while you're drinking a coffee and
- 47:54Speaker 5: put it back on the shelf. It's a pretty crummy
- 47:56Speaker 5: business model now I think about it.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Yes, a Millhouse says that we can't lose. Would be great,
- 48:00Speaker 2: get missus k a job back, but we need to
- 48:02Speaker 2: keep Zach around as well, because he says, let's check
- 48:03Speaker 2: out this video we just sent and he's showing these
- 48:05Speaker 2: multiples of seven various jerseys. Yeah, oh god, the T
- 48:07Speaker 2: shirt trend. Yeah that was the thing, wasn't it. Now
- 48:10Speaker 2: he says, bookstores don't have answers. Just crip you guys.
- 48:12Speaker 2: At the end of vials, most sitting there reading a
- 48:14Speaker 2: Doris Kurz Goodwin's Team of Rivals book. Yeah, that's about
- 48:18Speaker 2: about Lincoln, I think, okayu. He's like, guess no one's
- 48:21Speaker 2: ever written a book to help a middle aged woman
- 48:23Speaker 2: turn her life around. You The answer, The Answer, which
- 48:26Speaker 2: is a takeoff of The Secret, which was a big
- 48:29Speaker 2: deal in two thousand and six.
- 48:30Speaker 5: The Secret was indeed a big deal. And guess what
- 48:33Speaker 5: written by a nussy.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Yes, that's why there's a nausey accent in this little video,
- 48:37Speaker 2: a little clip writing the book.
- 48:41Speaker 9: My life was over, I lost my job, my husband
- 48:44Speaker 9: left me, I had to sleep in a kangaroo's pouch,
- 48:48Speaker 9: and then I found the answer. The Answer was discovered
- 48:56Speaker 9: by the philosophers of ancient Greece, who hit it under
- 48:58Speaker 9: a rock where it was discovered by the knights of
- 49:01Speaker 9: King Arthur, who placed it in a bottle and set
- 49:03Speaker 9: it in the ocean, where it was found by Pat Sajak.
- 49:10Speaker 9: These great men knew the answer. The answer is the
- 49:20Speaker 9: secret to achieve in your heart's desire. Learn the answer
- 49:24Speaker 9: and change your life.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Available wherever it do be, as queasi scientific self help
- 49:28Speaker 3: books are sold.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Let me tell you something about Ronda Burn do it
- 49:32Speaker 2: the writer? Tell me creator of the secret? Was she
- 49:36Speaker 2: discovered by Pat Sajack?
- 49:38Speaker 5: Unfortunately not pats Ajack, not affiliated with the secret, very
- 49:41Speaker 5: associated with the answer.
- 49:42Speaker 2: We was real big fans of real fortune. Not the same, right, Seacrest? Yeah,
- 49:46Speaker 2: pats Ajack, I'm sorry.
- 49:47Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, No, in this household, we yeah, worship and
- 49:50Speaker 5: revere Pat's Ajack?
- 49:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Secrest. Oh he's doing one for himself. Yeah, let's
- 49:55Speaker 2: stop on that. He's not such Oh no, God, but yeah.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Ronny Byrne was a producer of television show Okay, shows
- 50:04Speaker 2: like Oz Encounters UFOs in Australia and I'm not sure
- 50:08Speaker 2: how many seasons of the World's Greatest Commercials, but certainly
- 50:11Speaker 2: more than one. They were a huge thing. Yeah, Andrew
- 50:14Speaker 2: Daddy used to host. Oh, absolutely, well, it's funny convention before.
- 50:17Speaker 5: You had YouTube supercuts of like blah blah blah blah blah.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you'd like twenty to one. I can't believe you
- 50:23Speaker 2: just said that. I found out of VHS TEP there
- 50:25Speaker 2: that they put it in as one for when were
- 50:26Speaker 2: a kid as Simpson's but at the end of it
- 50:28Speaker 2: has an episode of Bob Downs twenty to one. Oh
- 50:31Speaker 2: my goodness, as Bob Downs twenty to one one hit
- 50:33Speaker 2: one or whatever, and I was like, Bob Downs.
- 50:35Speaker 5: This guy, Oh yeah, yeah, very campy celebrity sort of
- 50:41Speaker 5: persona that this guy.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Created listicles before listicles were a thing, very much so.
- 50:46Speaker 5: But I'm taking this from Wikipedia, which is we all
- 50:48Speaker 5: know was one hundredercent accurate. After the death of her
- 50:51Speaker 5: father in two thousand and four, Burn became very depressed.
- 50:54Speaker 5: Who knew cameras when every hadn't found the answer why
- 50:56Speaker 5: am I looking at the camera? At the instigation of
- 50:59Speaker 5: her daughter Hayley, she read a book called The Science
- 51:01Speaker 5: of Getting Rich and then began to work on the secret,
- 51:04Speaker 5: which I might be a bit of a ripoff of
- 51:07Speaker 5: the science of getting rich, because it's essentially it's the
- 51:10Speaker 5: law of attraction. You know, if you put it save money. Yeah, no, no,
- 51:15Speaker 5: it's nothing like that. It's basically, I believe the kids
- 51:18Speaker 5: today called it manifestation. If you want good things to
- 51:21Speaker 5: happen to you.
- 51:22Speaker 2: If I've said a podcast I now.
- 51:24Speaker 5: Essentially it's like, hmmm, I think I'd like to have
- 51:27Speaker 5: a million dollars. How can I What advice can I
- 51:31Speaker 5: give to my future self that will help me get
- 51:33Speaker 5: that million dollars? And you basically just have to sort
- 51:36Speaker 5: of think about, Yeah, I want this, I want this.
- 51:39Speaker 5: Two words only fans. Two words work hard because like
- 51:46Speaker 5: the other day, how were going to Disneyland a couple
- 51:49Speaker 5: of years and I was like, only fans. She's like, nah,
- 51:52Speaker 5: you pondited it for a second.
- 51:56Speaker 2: You said to it. I didn't mean you just in money,
- 52:00Speaker 2: guys making incredible I've got lonely fans. Yeah, but look,
- 52:10Speaker 2: I'm not sure how much money uh Ronda made from
- 52:13Speaker 2: the secret, but it's like it's that old thing enough.
- 52:16Speaker 2: People don't get rich digging for gold. People get rich
- 52:20Speaker 2: by selling shovels to people who were digging for gold.
- 52:23Speaker 2: Barefoot Investor and yeah, well that guy's legit. Yeah, I
- 52:27Speaker 2: like The Barefoot Investor. But yeah.
- 52:28Speaker 5: Ronda also came up with The Secrets, the book, The Secret,
- 52:32Speaker 5: a documentary film. She then came out with The Power
- 52:35Speaker 5: and The Magic. I've read none of these things.
- 52:38Speaker 2: But also I feel like it just creates a reputation
- 52:40Speaker 2: where people just felt like their life was on track
- 52:41Speaker 2: if they owned it. You know, I hadn't read. It's
- 52:43Speaker 2: like I've got this now. Oh yeah, I'm able to
- 52:46Speaker 2: get my life back on track.
- 52:46Speaker 6: Oh.
- 52:47Speaker 5: So many people are like that, and unfortunately I can
- 52:49Speaker 5: myself among them in terms of like, Okay, I've got
- 52:51Speaker 5: this self help book, I need to read it.
- 52:54Speaker 2: I've got it. Yeah, I've taken the first step into
- 52:57Speaker 2: a larger world. Yeah. But in two thousand and seven,
- 53:02Speaker 2: burn Rounder Burrn was featured in Time magazines one hundred
- 53:05Speaker 2: Most Influential People. She gained mainstream popularity and commercial success
- 53:10Speaker 2: after repairing on The Oprah Winfrey Show. So the book
- 53:13Speaker 2: was based on the earlier film of the same name.
- 53:15Speaker 2: So this was a film first, What was it? I
- 53:18Speaker 2: get the feeling it was. So The Secret is a
- 53:20Speaker 2: two thousand and six self help book by Ronda Byrn
- 53:23Speaker 2: based on the earlier film of the same name. Oh okay, yeah,
- 53:28Speaker 2: oh the film and the conversation. Yeah, I remember. I
- 53:31Speaker 2: was gonna say, I remember my mom my sisters be
- 53:34Speaker 2: into this kind of stuff, getting my mum to watch
- 53:36Speaker 2: this thing. And the mom's like, can you get a
- 53:37Speaker 2: copy of the secret for me? And I was like,
- 53:39Speaker 2: what is this? And I found it. I found I'm like,
- 53:41Speaker 2: what in the fucking hell are you watching, mum? But
- 53:43Speaker 2: there's like this documentary about getting your life back on track? Okay.
- 53:46Speaker 5: For much of February through April two thousand and seven,
- 53:49Speaker 5: both the book and the DVD versions were number one.
- 53:51Speaker 2: That's why Book Slash DVD. That's where there we go.
- 53:55Speaker 5: At Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Borders. Holy moly, yeah,
- 53:59Speaker 5: get the feeling on the burn is probably, as I
- 54:01Speaker 5: like to say, sitting on a beach.
- 54:04Speaker 2: Yes, But this is where they get the idea of, well,
- 54:09Speaker 2: we'll take this book to to missus Kate, so helpe
- 54:11Speaker 2: we get a life back on traits. So they take
- 54:12Speaker 2: the book slash DVD to her house, but she's not
- 54:14Speaker 2: buying it at all. She can see through it or
- 54:16Speaker 2: she's like, no, this is all bullshit.
- 54:17Speaker 5: Well yeah, I mean, look, they make a good case.
- 54:20Speaker 5: Look at all the people who are benefited from the answer.
- 54:22Speaker 5: Saint Peter, Charlemagne, Jack the Ripper, Colonel Sanders, Barry Bonds,
- 54:26Speaker 5: noted baseball player, might in steroid controversy, the guy who
- 54:30Speaker 5: Mary brookshields.
- 54:31Speaker 2: He did alright from Tom and Santa any clause. But,
- 54:35Speaker 2: as Bart says, the Simpson never gives up unless they've
- 54:37Speaker 2: tried one easy thing. So he gets her to write
- 54:39Speaker 2: her dreams down on an index card. What's your dream
- 54:41Speaker 2: on an index card? Of fate, he says, And she
- 54:44Speaker 2: wants to own a muffin store, So he says, break
- 54:45Speaker 2: your wish to break break down your wishes into wishable
- 54:48Speaker 2: actions or something along those lines.
- 54:50Speaker 5: Look, which is actually not a bad idea. I mean, yeah,
- 54:53Speaker 5: if you've got a huge task ahead of you, how
- 54:55Speaker 5: do you make it happen?
- 54:56Speaker 2: Yes? You break it down into small tasks? Yes? How
- 54:59Speaker 2: do you eat an elephant one bite at a time.
- 55:01Speaker 2: It's like going to the supermarket, Just no, no list.
- 55:04Speaker 2: You're in trouble. You're gonna buy all the ship. You
- 55:05Speaker 2: don't need to have a list in front of you
- 55:06Speaker 2: know what you need to get you're walking in you'll
- 55:08Speaker 2: save money and you're having to go. I've actually got
- 55:10Speaker 2: everything that I.
- 55:11Speaker 5: Need and then got to have a planned It's like
- 55:13Speaker 5: a very stable individual Will Smith's.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Age two. Can you build that wall one brick at
- 55:23Speaker 2: a time? I mean, there's no way that really happened,
- 55:25Speaker 2: but it's a good story. It's a good story. Yeah.
- 55:27Speaker 2: But there's now time for the grand opening of Edna's Edibles,
- 55:30Speaker 2: which is apparently a take off of something TV. Where
- 55:34Speaker 2: was it was in the Wikipedia page where say the line.
- 55:37Speaker 5: Which which always steers is clear, which is always one
- 55:40Speaker 5: hundred percent accurate?
- 55:40Speaker 2: Accurate? Yes, the store business opens. It is called Edna's Edibles,
- 55:44Speaker 2: a reference to the store that Missus Garrett owned on
- 55:46Speaker 2: the Facts of Life. Oh you're aware of the Facts
- 55:49Speaker 2: of Life. I'm sure I am not. No, no, no,
- 55:52Speaker 2: sit come from I know it's an old show, but
- 55:53Speaker 2: I have known nothing about it.
- 55:54Speaker 5: Sit come from the eighties set in a girls school.
- 55:57Speaker 5: I believe that Missus Garrett, she might have been the
- 56:00Speaker 5: housekeeper for mister Drummond in different strokes, okay, and made
- 56:06Speaker 5: such an different room. Yeah, but then they she got
- 56:10Speaker 5: her own spinoff where she was.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Like the I loves doing spinoffs back then, didn't they
- 56:13Speaker 2: I'm doing spinoffs. I think she was like the housekeeper
- 56:17Speaker 2: or the house mistress of like a girl's boarding school
- 56:20Speaker 2: or something, and at least four girls. This is quite
- 56:22Speaker 2: a big show for a while. You take the good,
- 56:24Speaker 2: you take the bad, you take them both.
- 56:25Speaker 5: And there you have the facts alive, the facts alive.
- 56:29Speaker 2: You can look this up on YouTube. The back to
- 56:32Speaker 2: the life. Well, I guess maybe she opened up a store,
- 56:34Speaker 2: early role for early real early role for George cliney, Oh,
- 56:37Speaker 2: there we go. It was like handyman named Buster or
- 56:40Speaker 2: some ship like that. I don't know, man, but the
- 56:41Speaker 2: grand opening is going well, and she asked, but what's
- 56:43Speaker 2: your dream? And it's flame vision. It felt actually kind
- 56:46Speaker 2: of felt like an early SWAT's Water kind of gag
- 56:48Speaker 2: where he nex across the street. He's trying to get
- 56:49Speaker 2: start a barbeque on fire.
- 56:51Speaker 5: He's done well, light of petrol, boars were okay, yeah,
- 56:54Speaker 5: gas gas station.
- 56:55Speaker 2: That's right. I guess. So Flanders orders a cran brand
- 56:58Speaker 2: for the Flanman. What did he want? I noticed game
- 57:00Speaker 2: with banana. I thought this might have been the moment
- 57:02Speaker 2: that Flanners and missus Ka fall in love because they
- 57:05Speaker 2: get married. Spoiler alert spoiler alert, Yeah wow. But she
- 57:10Speaker 2: thinks Bart for helping turn her life around. He says,
- 57:12Speaker 2: one because I'm off the hawk now was like, what
- 57:14Speaker 2: do you mean? Oh, I guess it's don't tell the truth.
- 57:17Speaker 2: I better come clean. And then she rages and she says,
- 57:19Speaker 2: you know, my real dream was to be a teacher,
- 57:21Speaker 2: and I thought they need to focus more on that.
- 57:23Speaker 2: She's like, this isn't my dream. My dream was to
- 57:25Speaker 2: teach you. I wanted to do that. That is my
- 57:27Speaker 2: ideal life, and they need to sort of they punched
- 57:30Speaker 2: that line and that that was there to be a
- 57:32Speaker 2: key part of this episode. Was No, my dream was
- 57:34Speaker 2: what I was doing. That was my dream. My life
- 57:36Speaker 2: seemed like it was hard, but I loved doing that.
- 57:38Speaker 2: That was my dream to teach you guys. She says
- 57:40Speaker 2: she's up to her ears and dead and there's four
- 57:42Speaker 2: more Muffin stores opening across the road.
- 57:43Speaker 5: I like these names indeed, now, yeah, please say them
- 57:46Speaker 5: because I was going to write them down, but I
- 57:47Speaker 5: did not.
- 57:48Speaker 2: Muff said crumbs, keep on muffin, hr muff and stuff
- 57:52Speaker 2: was that's the one. That's a good one, and muff
- 57:54Speaker 2: Mart fifty k fifty thousand square feet of nothing but
- 57:56Speaker 2: muffins and coming soon a muffin store. Then she he
- 58:00Speaker 2: destroys the answer book by burning I believe. He's like, no,
- 58:02Speaker 2: I read a fun phone number in there, and she
- 58:04Speaker 2: thought there was a spark of decency in him. She's like, no,
- 58:07Speaker 2: you know what, you are bad on the inside. She's
- 58:09Speaker 2: he's disappointed her and Bart can't take this at all.
- 58:12Speaker 2: He's at home and he's worried. He asks Homer if
- 58:14Speaker 2: he's bad on the inside, and hope it just gives
- 58:15Speaker 2: classic terrible advice. No, but your layers are bad on
- 58:20Speaker 2: the outside. Go almost all the way. At the same time, Yes,
- 58:22Speaker 2: I thought this was all right.
- 58:23Speaker 5: I mean, this was reminiscent of I forgot which episode
- 58:27Speaker 5: it's in, Yeah, but it's one that we've covered on
- 58:30Speaker 5: going on Springfield recently. But you know, when they pass
- 58:32Speaker 5: each other on the street, they know the boy who
- 58:34Speaker 5: knew too much? That's right, how do you do so
- 58:38Speaker 5: sucker that kind of but the whole sort of wink,
- 58:40Speaker 5: that kind of I like it when they're co conspirators,
- 58:43Speaker 5: you know, even even in this stage where they kind.
- 58:44Speaker 2: Of dropped the ball and you go just for the
- 58:46Speaker 2: sake of home and being a dumbass. Yeah, but he asked, Homer,
- 58:49Speaker 2: is okay, if I tricked the new teacher, it means
- 58:51Speaker 2: the old teacher gets her job back. And he's like,
- 58:53Speaker 2: when he's a teacher, do you mean my parent? No? No,
- 58:55Speaker 2: I mean teachers. That's all right. Then then Bart sneaks
- 58:57Speaker 2: into class and he's about to spike the Blue Bronco.
- 59:00Speaker 2: But then he just you be cutting him telling the truth.
- 59:03Speaker 2: He's like, I was gonna do the wrong thing again,
- 59:04Speaker 2: but two wrongs don't make it right. I'm going to
- 59:06Speaker 2: come clean. And Skinner says, your reward will be a
- 59:08Speaker 2: severe punishment. But he says, I think and this again
- 59:11Speaker 2: another one the need to double down on. Bart's like,
- 59:13Speaker 2: I don't care if I get punished, as long as
- 59:14Speaker 2: they get said job back. And when was missus cake
- 59:16Speaker 2: it's a job. I don't care if I get in trouble.
- 59:17Speaker 2: I deserve to get in trouble. And he says, Unfortunately,
- 59:19Speaker 2: I can't just fire mister Vaughan for nothing. He has
- 59:22Speaker 2: to do something wrong. Immediately we overhear him. He's out
- 59:25Speaker 2: in the hallway yelling I hate children. Just faculty talking
- 59:28Speaker 2: the hallway.
- 59:29Speaker 5: That's yeah, Skinner gives the reasons why. It's you know,
- 59:33Speaker 5: you can't fire a teacher for being in combat or
- 59:34Speaker 5: even though just show but not touch anyone.
- 59:36Speaker 2: We got to keep them all. Yes, does anybody else
- 59:40Speaker 2: want to ride the Indigo pone?
- 59:42Speaker 9: Is there extra credit in it?
- 59:43Speaker 6: Oh?
- 59:44Speaker 2: They're going to eat you alive, cal Tech boy alive?
- 59:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah, please, there's a prison down and down. Oh
- 59:56Speaker 2: you kids just screw down and down kids and fine, God.
- 1:00:04Speaker 9: It's all the ways, the good ones that go crazy,
- 1:00:07Speaker 9: the fastest get off.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: You can get rid of me, but you can't get
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: rid of the truth.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:00:11Speaker 8: The schools glorified hamster wheel run by incompetent bureaucrats who
- 1:00:16Speaker 8: can get you through a test, but you will.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: Fail the test of life. Gentleman, fingers in your errors
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: and make the lalla sound.
- 1:00:22Speaker 6: La la la la la la la la.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Why he did this? It just makes it okay. It
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: just feels like this guy's crash out. As I said,
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: crash out. The kids would say, m M. Came out
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: of nowhere, unexpected warrant. It's just like we need him gone.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: He's going to spike his own drink.
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: You're like, why yeah, look, I'm not sure it would
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: have worked for comedic slash dramatic purposes, but you needed
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: a little gradual loss of respect, a little loss.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: Of control exactly as I was going to say, yep, exactly, yeah,
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: to the point where he's kind of like ah, yeah
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: and he crashes out yes, yeah, because I just feel
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: like him seems he seems like he's such a good
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: space absolutely, so why was he doing this? He needs
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: to show that, Oh, the kids don't respect me, even
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: though but I'm lett you do what you want. It's like, yeah,
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: it's still a teacher.
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: Or you do a little sort of sneaky ending where
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: it's yeah, not necessarily morally right, but you know, Edna
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: snuck it, and like Spark.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: You can't do that, you can't do it. They reflect
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: to poorly on Edna. She need to get a job,
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: back to the right way legitimately, but you're right there,
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: and they need to have a moment where he sort
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: of tried to teach them something. They go, you're not
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: a teacher, you're you're a friend or whatever, and then
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: he's like realizing, oh ship, these kids don't respect me. Yeah.
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: In need a scene where like Skinner or charmers. These
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: kids out learning anything. Yeah, it's gonna you know, the
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: grading curve is dropping or something. It's like, oh, we're
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: about to lose funding, you know, because our kids they
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: need to pass this test, at which point he goes,
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: all right, kids, knuckle down, Fuck you, Zach.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Because what does he yell out this this school is
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: a glorified hamster. We'll run by bureaucrats who can't get
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: you through a test, but you'll fail the test of life.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: So that's that line would have worked well if it
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: was as he said. Skinner went to him and said, look,
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: these kids grades are going down. I know that they
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: might be having a good time, but we need to
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: they need to pass the test. They're not passing with
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: this math. We go we fixed it. Matt happy to help. Yeah,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: but missus Case get some dinners on you. She gets
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: her job back. What wasn't here was on Phil recenthal

- 1:02:44Speaker 2: same kind of voice of it as we did last

- 1:02:50Speaker 2: will be here to save the day or whatever. He's
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: on the mountaintop. That's right, This one here, says a
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: simple school teacher found fulfillment in muffin based revenge, all
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: thanks to the answer weird yeah comes out probably that
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: gay probably worked in two thousand and nine because the
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: fresh yeah. But if you're watching this, I like those
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: muffins watching this. How sixteen years later is sixteen eighteen
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: twenty five minus nine is what? Sixteen year sixteen? I
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: was right? Mass is okay? So I'm still there. Yes,
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: you didn't use the calculator. I didn't know, so sixteen
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: years later, Yeah, it was very much just a fad,
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: wasn't it. It was?
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: But it's one of those fads that you know, we
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: don't really grow out of if you're not you know,
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: like I said.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Every generation has this secret. Oh yeah, if you're brave
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: enough to get on TikTok, or if you're already on
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: there or whatever a new type in manifestation, you will
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: just be inundated with shit I've got, like, I've seen
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: like two or three people who there's a couple of
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: guys who went in particular who wouldn't call him a
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: friend is an associate. He's always been friends with my friends.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: And he's that guy who you acquaintance. He's that guy
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: who you never really know what he does for a living.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: He's like sometimes he's dejing and sometimes he's organizing events,
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: and it's like it's just a hustle. He's just hustling, hustling, hustling.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: It's mitchru that's not mitched. No, it's always hustling. And
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: then the other day went on Facebook and I saw
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: he started a new podcast about finding fulfillment and laughing like,
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: a fucking course, this guy has Liken't fucking course he has.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: I said this the other day on Facebook where the
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: cool kids are hanging out, I'd read some article in
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: a major newspaper and there was this guy who sort
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: of built himself as a life coach. He looked like
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: a little Wenus by the way, but he was talking about, yeah,
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: there's no such thing as workload balance and all this
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: kind of stuff. But then he sort of he was
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: talking about what you have instead of work life balance,
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: and he was talking about work life balance. And I
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: was like, if this guy, who was probably making halfway
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: decent bank by suckering people into like this is how
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: you optimize your life or whatever, if it's this easy,
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: if I had no shame at all, I would just
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: I would do this. I would be an absolute fucking
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: self help grifter. Yeah, you know, you come up, you
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: type in you're type in the GBT or copilt or
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: what it. It's like, give me ten mottos for self
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: optimization and living a quote unquite good life. It'll give
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: you that.
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: You then sort of put a little week. Yeah, you
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: put your own clock in it. Put a clock in it, yeah,
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: exactly right. Put a little spice on it. It's level
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: of hot sauce on or whatever. I've used all my cliches.
- 1:05:09Speaker 5: You give it a title that includes the words fuck
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: or badass and then you just board that gravy trained baby.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: We should do it? How many?
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: How many times have we said, look, we should either
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: write a Christmas song a children write a children's book.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: I feel like I could genuinely write one as well.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: I got a children's book for a Christmas song, both,
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: especially children's. But I've read some children's books and I'm like,
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: how the what the pick? Pick the pug?
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: How is this?
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: Like you're talking about the Is he the guy who
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: wrote The Bad Guys? There was an article about him?
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: And looks actually yeah, it was a pug and I'm
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: sorry to say he was very terrible and almost every
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: way I'm like, what the the fucking hell is going on?
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: I can write this ship Andy Lee and do not
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: open this book, and I'm like, there's a TV show
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: for this, now, what the hell is going on?
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: Okay, let's let's back off from eating all these our grapes,
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: all right, we shouldn't we shouldn't be doing it.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: No, no, no, not sour Grasman just like wal credit
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: Tom And I'm like, oh yeah, but it's this easy.
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: Oh yeah, but that yeah, that kind of grift. Yeah,
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: but it still exists absolutely. It's one thing I really
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: don't like that sort of self optimization kind of deal.
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: When did we start, you know, glorifying salesman. Maybe it
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: was just the Wolf of war Street could be Yeah,
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: oh that's the thing. You're always going to have a
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: whole bunch of people who would just take the wrong
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: lesson from various things. People like, you know, he's a
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: real hero, is that Tony Montana, real driven salesperson, Tony soprano?
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: Mate, Well, yeah, it was like you know who's Rise
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: and Grind said, I really admired Patrick Bateman, Walter White
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: and people who just don't get the message of the
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Wolf of Wall Street, who see by the end that
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: this guy has lost everything and he's just starting another
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: grift and people are still buying into it. Sell me
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: this pip, this pan.
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: It's brilliant, but it's so fucking dark because this is
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: a whole generation of people are like, well, if they
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: see you this pin, then then I'll learn the secret
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: ahead to sitit you and I'll end up like fucking
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: Leo in The Wolf wolfs what a dumb ass di
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: spiriting time to.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: Be a lie. You might get Margot Robbie though, so
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: you might What do we learn, Bomber? What'd you learn
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: from the episode? What did I learn from the episode?
