- 1:07Speaker 1: thing since a Visit from the Commissioner. NFL Commissioner Roger
- 1:12Speaker 1: Goodell was in Cincinnati for the game and dropped by
- 1:15Speaker 1: the broadcast booth for a pregame show interview. He said
- 1:19Speaker 1: great things about the city and about Katie and Elizabeth Blackburn,
- 1:23Speaker 1: and took the time to pose for a picture with
- 1:25Speaker 1: Dave Lapham and me. As far as I'm concerned, the
- 1:28Speaker 1: man uttered the most beautiful words in the English language
- 1:33Speaker 1: from his basement a few years ago when he said,
- 1:36Speaker 1: with the first pick in the twenty twenty NFL Draft,
- 1:39Speaker 1: the Cincinnati Bengals select Joe Burrow. Now, let's get to
- 1:44Speaker 1: the radio replays from Thursday's white out win in front
- 1:48Speaker 1: of a record crowd of sixty seven thousand, two hundred
- 1:51Speaker 1: and sixty at pay Horse Stadium. Burrow takes the staff
- 1:55Speaker 1: add it to mix Night's inside for the first down
- 2:00Speaker 1: the end zone. Get the touchdown. Joe Nixon takes it
- 2:06Speaker 1: in from five yards out, his first touchdown of the
- 2:10Speaker 1: year and for the second consecutive week. But Bengals take
- 2:15Speaker 1: the ball to begin the game and go seventy five
- 2:18Speaker 1: yards to take the lead to a wants to throw.
- 2:21Speaker 1: He's gonna fire high and deep down field for Tyreek
- 2:24Speaker 1: Hill intercept dead picked up by the Bengals at the
- 2:28Speaker 1: twenty eight yard line by von bell a fake a
- 2:32Speaker 1: run to the right, two of bootlegs to the left.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Wants to throw deep. Nobody open. He'll be sacked Josh
- 2:38Speaker 1: Tupo with his sack. Who is hurt. He threw him down.
- 2:41Speaker 1: He hit his head on the turf. This will be
- 2:43Speaker 1: a fifty two yard field goal try for Jason Sanders.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Trying to give Miami the lead to snap the put down.
- 2:49Speaker 1: The swing of the legg it's blocked. That is blocked,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and it will bounce into the end zone and roll
- 2:54Speaker 1: through the back and the Bengals will have the ball
- 2:57Speaker 1: at their own forty two yard line as a result.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Brow on third and eleven, we'll look to pass. He
- 3:02Speaker 1: throws it deep down the sideline and he's caught. Tee
- 3:06Speaker 1: Higgins puts the tackle. He's at the ten. The five touchdowns.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Xavian Howard in coverage. Te Higgins made the catch, broke
- 3:18Speaker 1: out of an ankle tackle, and took it in for
- 3:21Speaker 1: the long touchdown. Pass. On third down and eleven, Tyreek
- 3:25Speaker 1: Hill goes in motion. Teddy Bridge with the shovel pass
- 3:29Speaker 1: Edmonds spinning toward the goal line. He is in from
- 3:32Speaker 1: Miami touchdown with nine seconds left in the half. What
- 3:37Speaker 1: a design on that play. Miami trying to take the lead.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Here comes the short field goal try. It is good
- 3:45Speaker 1: and the sixty five yard pass from Teddy Bridgewater to
- 3:49Speaker 1: Tyreek Hill helps Miami pull in front for the first
- 3:54Speaker 1: time all night. It's fifteen fourteen Miami, late third quarter
- 3:58Speaker 1: with two forty to go. Second out in six to
- 4:00Speaker 1: begin the fourth quarter at the Dolphins forty nine burrowing
- 4:03Speaker 1: the shotgun, catches the ball, fakes a handoff to Mix
- 4:07Speaker 1: and rolls out to the right. Burrow's gonna fire deep
- 4:09Speaker 1: down field for Boyd over the shoulder catches the fifteen
- 4:12Speaker 1: Tackled inside the ten, He's brought down at the sixth
- 4:16Speaker 1: at a Midas snaps it to Huber. Here comes the
- 4:18Speaker 1: kick and the Bengals have the lead with twelve minutes left.
- 4:23Speaker 1: As Money Mac makes it seventeen fifteen Cincinnati. Huber ready
- 4:27Speaker 1: to hold at a Midas will snap. The rookie is ready,
- 4:30Speaker 1: fires it back. The ball is down. Here comes the kick.
- 4:33Speaker 1: It has the distance. It is yeah, yeah money Mac
- 4:41Speaker 1: Money indeed a fifty seven yard field goal to give
- 4:46Speaker 1: Cincinnati a five point lead. Second and ten. Bridgewater fires
- 4:50Speaker 1: a quick pass and a second at the nine yard line,
- 4:53Speaker 1: holding the ball back now to the twenty twenty five
- 4:56Speaker 1: thirty bond Bell to the forty five, the fifty and
- 5:00Speaker 1: the Dolphins forty five yard line. Bon Bells second interception
- 5:05Speaker 1: of the game gives the Bengals the ball back in
- 5:08Speaker 1: Miami territory with three minutes and five seconds to go,
- 5:12Speaker 1: third down and goal from the two. They still have
- 5:14Speaker 1: a sixth offensive lineman in Burrow wants to throw. He's passed,
- 5:18Speaker 1: taught by hers, easy touchdown n sangals and that should
- 5:24Speaker 1: be coffin nails, damn bam bam. Joe Burrow through for
- 5:30Speaker 1: two hundred eighty seven yards with two touchdowns, no picks,
- 5:33Speaker 1: and a passer rating of one fifteen point nine. His
- 5:37Speaker 1: top target was t Higgins, who spoke to Dave Lapham
- 5:40Speaker 1: after the game. Seven catches one hundred and twenty four yards,
- 5:44Speaker 1: including a fifty nine yard touchdown catch. You've got in
- 5:48Speaker 1: one on one coverage against the pro bowler. Joe saw you, Joseph,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I'm going there. Yeah, man, you know we knew he
- 5:54Speaker 1: was gonna get that, you know, coming and set his game,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and you know it was my job to you know,
- 6:00Speaker 1: that win. He wants something, but you know, that's that's
- 6:02Speaker 1: that's the that's the good of this this game. You know,
- 6:05Speaker 1: you win something, loose something, and you know I was
- 6:07Speaker 1: able to win. Everybody talked about their two receivers and
- 6:11Speaker 1: the explosives to their two receivers. You had a fifty
- 6:13Speaker 1: nine yard touchdown catch, Jamar Chase had a thirty six
- 6:17Speaker 1: yard reception and a twenty three yard reception. Tyler Boyd
- 6:20Speaker 1: had a forty three yard reception. You guys had plenty
- 6:23Speaker 1: of explosives yourself. I mean, so the trio out did
- 6:26Speaker 1: the duo look like? To me? You gotta defense contained Waddle,
- 6:29Speaker 1: But all three of you guys at some point in
- 6:31Speaker 1: time during the course of the game made big plays.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I mean yeah, I mean that's that's what we're here
- 6:35Speaker 1: to do. You know. Um, you know we got that firepower.
- 6:39Speaker 1: You know, we got Joe Mix in the back backfield,
- 6:41Speaker 1: so you know, I mean, um, we just you know,
- 6:43Speaker 1: we just play off each other. You know, when one
- 6:45Speaker 1: is not doing when one's getting double, you know, we
- 6:48Speaker 1: got another. When the others getting double, we got another.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So um, you know, we just you got to continue
- 6:52Speaker 1: to play off each other and keep building each other
- 6:54Speaker 1: up and hopefully we can keep it going. And then
- 6:56Speaker 1: Hayden Hurst has three catches, uh, and he has a
- 6:59Speaker 1: touchdown reception as well. A big touchdown reception is a
- 7:02Speaker 1: nineteen yard catch his first catch of the game. So,
- 7:05Speaker 1: I mean, when they're paying all attention to you guys,
- 7:07Speaker 1: tinam is gonna eat a little bit too right for sure,
- 7:09Speaker 1: for sure, And um, Hayden's one of those guys, even Mitch,
- 7:12Speaker 1: you know, Mitch had a nice, nice catch and run. Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 1: So I mean, um, you know, I'm proud of those
- 7:16Speaker 1: guys just because I mean, you know, just because what
- 7:20Speaker 1: they've been doing, how they've been been working, you know lately,
- 7:23Speaker 1: and um, I mean, man, we got a lot of firepower.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Now they've got in their DNA to blitz to play
- 7:29Speaker 1: zero coverage. Didn't look like they wanted to do that.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Did they play more covered two and deep safety coverage?
- 7:35Speaker 1: And you guys had thought, did you guys have to
- 7:37Speaker 1: make any adjustments in that area? So what we was getting, Um,
- 7:40Speaker 1: you know, we realized real early that you know, they
- 7:42Speaker 1: was doubling U TV and Chase and it was zero
- 7:46Speaker 1: with me, um, you know, man and man with uh,
- 7:48Speaker 1: you know, Howard one of the best corners in the league. Um,
- 7:52Speaker 1: you know we're talking on the sideline that I was
- 7:54Speaker 1: gonna have to win and a big game for me,
- 7:56Speaker 1: and you know I delivered. I'm sure didn't. So now
- 8:00Speaker 1: the team starts minus five in the turnover department. Now
- 8:03Speaker 1: you're plus one tonight. The offense did not have a giveaway.
- 8:06Speaker 1: That's a big goal. Obviously, you guys succeeded there and
- 8:09Speaker 1: had two takeaways plus two on tonight's action to make
- 8:12Speaker 1: you plus one on the season. That's gonna win your
- 8:14Speaker 1: football games, isn't it. Yeah? Man, you know we preached that.
- 8:17Speaker 1: You know, we want our defense to go out there
- 8:19Speaker 1: and you you know, get turnovers, turnovers, turnovers, turnovers, And you
- 8:22Speaker 1: know we preached on offense, don't turn the ball over,
- 8:24Speaker 1: you know, hold onto the ball and you know, protect it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: So and you know we was able to do that,
- 8:28Speaker 1: you know, this week and over and keep it going.
- 8:30Speaker 1: What does it feel like to knock off the last
- 8:34Speaker 1: undefeated team in the AFC. Honestly, I didn't even know
- 8:37Speaker 1: they was the last undefeated team in AFC. Man, we
- 8:40Speaker 1: were just attacked at one to know each week, and
- 8:42Speaker 1: you know we was able to do that this week.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Gratulations on a big night. Thank you Teacot. One of
- 8:47Speaker 1: Joe Burrows touchdown passes, hayden Hurst caught the other to
- 8:51Speaker 1: clench the victory. With one fifty two remaining, we are
- 8:55Speaker 1: at a very happy Bengals locker with tight end hayden Hurst,
- 8:58Speaker 1: who caught his first touch down passing a Bengal uniform
- 9:01Speaker 1: tonight the clincher. Those are always fun, aren't thing. Absolutely,
- 9:05Speaker 1: that was a really good feeling pack house and it's
- 9:08Speaker 1: just surreal. Honestly, I'm just couldn't be more excited to
- 9:12Speaker 1: be a Bengal, couldn't be more excited to be here
- 9:13Speaker 1: and help this team. Quite a difference five days can
- 9:16Speaker 1: make when you win two games in a five day
- 9:18Speaker 1: period and go from owen two to write back in
- 9:20Speaker 1: the thick of things at two and two. Absolutely we
- 9:22Speaker 1: needed that one. We need to go into this kind
- 9:24Speaker 1: of long weekend with two and two even things up.
- 9:27Speaker 1: It's great for our confidence and as we can tell
- 9:28Speaker 1: right now, it seems it seems a confident bunch. And
- 9:31Speaker 1: when we get rolling watch out. You alluded to the atmosphere,
- 9:34Speaker 1: the white out. Everybody's excited about the tiger stripe uniforms.
- 9:38Speaker 1: How would you describe the atmosphere out there tonight, absolutely electric.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I feed off stuff like that. You know, my first catch,
- 9:44Speaker 1: I kind of got going and the crowd was rocking,
- 9:47Speaker 1: and it just helps a team roll. And that's kind
- 9:49Speaker 1: of what I bring the table every Sunday. You know,
- 9:51Speaker 1: I'm I'm a madman out there, and that's what I'll do,
- 9:53Speaker 1: you know, every Sunday. I'll never let up. That first
- 9:56Speaker 1: catch came on third and one. You guys converted a
- 9:59Speaker 1: bunch of third downs early, and obviously that was a
- 10:02Speaker 1: key to building a lead and ultimately winning the game. Absolutely, man,
- 10:05Speaker 1: if you can just you know, put drives together, get
- 10:07Speaker 1: out of our own way and just piece these things together.
- 10:09Speaker 1: This is an incredible offense. I mean, we've got playmakers
- 10:12Speaker 1: all over the place. We just gotta get open for
- 10:15Speaker 1: Joe and you know, he feeds us the ball and
- 10:16Speaker 1: we get this thing rolling. Like I said, it's going
- 10:18Speaker 1: to be pretty pretty scary. And grats on the touchdown
- 10:21Speaker 1: and the wind he sir, thank you so much. Before
- 10:24Speaker 1: we turn to the defense, here's a quick reminder that
- 10:26Speaker 1: the Bengals Booth podcast is brought to you by pay

- 10:37Speaker 1: more at paycort dot com. The Dolphins had eleven possessions
- 10:42Speaker 1: on Thursday and only scored one touchdown. That means the
- 10:46Speaker 1: Bengals defense is only surrendered one td the last thirty
- 10:50Speaker 1: one times the other team has had the ball. Von
- 10:53Speaker 1: Bell picked off two passes and Logan Wilson had a
- 10:57Speaker 1: key third down stop in the fourth quarter when the
- 11:00Speaker 1: Bengals were only up by two. I talked to Logan
- 11:03Speaker 1: about that in front of his locker. We're in the
- 11:06Speaker 1: locker room with Logan Wilson. One of the big defensive
- 11:09Speaker 1: plays in this game. Early in the fourth quarter. You
- 11:11Speaker 1: guys are clinging to a two point lead. It's third
- 11:14Speaker 1: and one. It seemed like the Dolphins had momentum. He
- 11:16Speaker 1: made a huge stop for one yard loss. Described the
- 11:20Speaker 1: play and how big you think thought it was. You know,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I was gonna shoot the I was gonna shoot the
- 11:24Speaker 1: V gap on the right side to tight and stayed
- 11:26Speaker 1: over there. But as soon as emotion my gap responsibility changed.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And as soon as that happened, I knew that they
- 11:31Speaker 1: were going to run into that other side. And I
- 11:33Speaker 1: just tried to shoot my shot and make sure he
- 11:34Speaker 1: couldn't get the first nun. Did you have the feeling
- 11:37Speaker 1: after that stop that you know, it was a big
- 11:40Speaker 1: momentum changer. I mean it felt pretty big. Crowd was rowing,
- 11:43Speaker 1: pretty pretty loud, Our guys were hyping me out pretty good.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It was, it was fun, I was, it was awesome.
- 11:48Speaker 1: We're visiting with Logan Wilson. What did you think of
- 11:50Speaker 1: the atmosphere tonight? Unbelievable when coach Taylor just said it
- 11:53Speaker 1: was the largest home crowd we've ever had. I mean,
- 11:55Speaker 1: we can't do what we do without that. You know
- 11:57Speaker 1: how many I don't know how many like issues they
- 12:00Speaker 1: had on offense because they couldn't hear hear, hear themselves
- 12:03Speaker 1: and communicate, and um, it creates issues for opposing offenses.
- 12:06Speaker 1: And we love it, we really do. It helps us
- 12:07Speaker 1: a lot. Yeah, when they burned those two quick time
- 12:09Speaker 1: outs keeping their own territory early, you could tell it
- 12:12Speaker 1: was the crowd. Yes, absolutely, I mean they were trying
- 12:14Speaker 1: to talk. You saw him trying to talk and communicate,
- 12:15Speaker 1: but they couldn't hear each other and they're like what what?
- 12:18Speaker 1: So it's great. We love our crowds and they're they're
- 12:20Speaker 1: they're really right. They're the best fans in the world
- 12:22Speaker 1: right now. So early in this season, the turnover ratio
- 12:26Speaker 1: was obviously bad and the season opener against Pittsburgh. Now
- 12:29Speaker 1: you guys are positive for the season after two picks
- 12:32Speaker 1: by vond tonight. Yeah, that's quite a turnaround in a
- 12:35Speaker 1: short period of time. Yeah, you just got a weather
- 12:37Speaker 1: this swarm. Keep keep. We're gonna keep at it. And
- 12:39Speaker 1: I think that's what we did. What a difference five
- 12:41Speaker 1: days makes? Right? Two wins. You're two and two with
- 12:44Speaker 1: the two victories in a five day period. Field. Every
- 12:46Speaker 1: week's a new week. You know, we gotta put we
- 12:48Speaker 1: could you know, just because we started off on when two,
- 12:51Speaker 1: um sky wasn't falling. You know, we still knew what
- 12:53Speaker 1: we were capable of, and um we still had a
- 12:55Speaker 1: lot of a lot of work ahead of us. But um,
- 12:57Speaker 1: these are two good victories. It's enjoy it, join them
- 13:00Speaker 1: any buy congrats? Well, thank here some of the Bengals
- 13:03Speaker 1: are back to five hundred at two and two laps
- 13:06Speaker 1: been a few minutes after the game with Zach Taylor.
- 13:10Speaker 1: We know how hard it is to win in the
- 13:12Speaker 1: National Football League. When you get two of them in
- 13:13Speaker 1: five days, that's like anniversary birthday all wrapped in one.
- 13:18Speaker 1: It is. You know, it's nice to create a momentum
- 13:20Speaker 1: for ourselves going into a big divisional game, as we
- 13:23Speaker 1: all know. So probably the way these guys responded to a
- 13:25Speaker 1: a short week, played really strong in the second half
- 13:29Speaker 1: and that says a lot about the character of this team.
- 13:32Speaker 1: So you're didn't give the football away offensively, you have
- 13:36Speaker 1: two takeaways, Von Bell has his first multiple career interception game.
- 13:41Speaker 1: You were minus five after week one. Now you're plus one,
- 13:44Speaker 1: and here you are, even Stephen at a two and
- 13:46Speaker 1: two record, kind of close hand in hand, done it, shocker.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You win the turn bottle and you got a great
- 13:53Speaker 1: chance to win the game, you know. And that's the
- 13:55Speaker 1: percentages tell you. If you can be plus two, it's it's,
- 13:58Speaker 1: you know, above eighty percent going to win the game.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And our guys take that to heart. They work like
- 14:01Speaker 1: crazy on it. I think the offense has done a
- 14:03Speaker 1: really good job securing in the football, making good decisions
- 14:05Speaker 1: by Joe, and defensively, those guys are doing everything they
- 14:08Speaker 1: can to get the ball way. I've been in situations
- 14:10Speaker 1: where the opposing team has an injury like two a
- 14:13Speaker 1: head and not only does it affect his teammates, it
- 14:16Speaker 1: does affect the other team. I mean, nobody wants to
- 14:19Speaker 1: see that kind of thing. How proud of you the
- 14:22Speaker 1: way that your team kind of compartmentalized it because nobody
- 14:25Speaker 1: likes to see that and then responded and play the
- 14:28Speaker 1: way they did. Yeah, that's the unfortunate part of football.
- 14:30Speaker 1: You know, you gotta be able to respond after an
- 14:32Speaker 1: injury like that. Certainly, we're all thinking about him because
- 14:35Speaker 1: that's that's not what you want to see. He's a
- 14:37Speaker 1: great kid and we hope for the best. So let's
- 14:41Speaker 1: see a couple of your your guys that had big days.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Tee Higgins, they decided, okay, we'll put Howard on T
- 14:47Speaker 1: and you're going to double the other guys and you
- 14:48Speaker 1: just said T go win anyone. I mean Tee Higgins
- 14:51Speaker 1: had seven catches one hundred and twenty four yards, including
- 14:54Speaker 1: that that big touchdown reception of fifty nine. Yeah, I
- 14:58Speaker 1: mean that was we got. We got a lot of weapons.
- 15:01Speaker 1: And so when you're gonna double double TB and double
- 15:03Speaker 1: Jamar and put one of the top corners in the
- 15:05Speaker 1: league on T, we're expecting t to step up and win,
- 15:08Speaker 1: and he did. And then Hayden hurst that nineteen yard
- 15:11Speaker 1: reception early in the game, short ball and then run
- 15:14Speaker 1: after catch and uh, you know, he ends up with
- 15:17Speaker 1: three catches for twenty seven yards that were all big
- 15:19Speaker 1: as well. He had the two yard touchdown catch. Oh,
- 15:21Speaker 1: those were huge. You know. He had that one at
- 15:22Speaker 1: the beginning of the game. That got us a lot
- 15:24Speaker 1: of energy. He had a big play action and started
- 15:26Speaker 1: drive in traffic with a great catch in any of
- 15:28Speaker 1: the touchdown I really put the game away. So Hayden's
- 15:31Speaker 1: been a tremendous weapon and asset for us and plays
- 15:34Speaker 1: with a lot of emotion, which is a good thing.
- 15:37Speaker 1: How beneficial was the crowd, coach, I mean it was
- 15:40Speaker 1: it was like off the hook, wasn't it. Yeah, it was.
- 15:42Speaker 1: You know, you saw the two timeouts they had to
- 15:44Speaker 1: take there in the first half, and that's that's We
- 15:47Speaker 1: even had problems sometimes with the noise because of the
- 15:49Speaker 1: response after turnover. We had a hard time communicating to play,
- 15:53Speaker 1: you know. And it's a special special stadium, special crowd
- 15:57Speaker 1: and really happy to see the turnout we had and
- 16:00Speaker 1: I was expected. So you had five straight third and
- 16:03Speaker 1: one conversions. But then you know, the fourth and one
- 16:06Speaker 1: was painful for you, and then the low red zone
- 16:10Speaker 1: had to be an issue that you you know, as
- 16:13Speaker 1: you look back, it's not a good memory. Still, get
- 16:16Speaker 1: some work to do there. Yeah, you know, down especially
- 16:18Speaker 1: on the goal one. You know, we got to finish
- 16:20Speaker 1: the seven points. We can't settle for three. I think,
- 16:23Speaker 1: you know. In the field short yardage, I know the
- 16:24Speaker 1: fourth and one are always going to stand out. But
- 16:26Speaker 1: our guys have done a good job in short yardage overall.
- 16:29Speaker 1: It's just those key situations. We've got to be better,
- 16:31Speaker 1: help them, to call help them, you know. With with
- 16:33Speaker 1: the execution, we've got to be better. But but but the
- 16:35Speaker 1: low red zone, we do need to do a better
- 16:36Speaker 1: job for sure. Congratulations, got a long weekend, other players
- 16:41Speaker 1: off for three days. Coach, what do you what do
- 16:42Speaker 1: you do with the players? Let himself, I heard a lot.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I heard a big yelling here and there. Must have
- 16:46Speaker 1: given them some good news there. Yeah, these short weeks
- 16:48Speaker 1: are taxing on you, and so they deserve it. So
- 16:50Speaker 1: we're gonna see these guys on Monday and get ready
- 16:52Speaker 1: for a big divisional game. Mixed today, And finally I
- 16:55Speaker 1: thought one of the big keys to the game to
- 16:56Speaker 1: go out in that first drive in Miami's defense, you know,
- 17:00Speaker 1: ninety snaps and the heat, you guys ground him up
- 17:02Speaker 1: a little bit and made life tough for him at
- 17:04Speaker 1: the very early stage. It's a football game. I think
- 17:06Speaker 1: that was a factor. Yeah, there's the start we were
- 17:08Speaker 1: looking for. Or again, our offense has a lot of
- 17:10Speaker 1: a lot of confidence, so to get the ball first,
- 17:13Speaker 1: they know that there's a lot of pressure to go
- 17:14Speaker 1: down there seven points of the board, and two weeks
- 17:15Speaker 1: in a row they've done it. Congratulations, appreciate your time. Awesome. Thanks.
- 17:19Speaker 1: So it was a great win and the atmosphere was electric,
- 17:23Speaker 1: but it also featured the frightening site of Dolphins quarterback
- 17:27Speaker 1: to A Tongo Va Looa being taken off the field
- 17:30Speaker 1: on a stretcher after suffering head and neck injuries that
- 17:33Speaker 1: sent him to the hospital. It marked the second straight
- 17:35Speaker 1: week that Tua was forced out of a game after
- 17:39Speaker 1: hitting his head on the ground. Although he was designated
- 17:42Speaker 1: with a back injury last week, Miami head coach Mike
- 17:46Speaker 1: McDaniel acknowledged that Tua is in concussion protocol this time around.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Here's Bengal safety Von Bell You never want to see that.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Guys going to walk for each other and each team
- 18:00Speaker 1: John Winn and put that team in the best edition
- 18:02Speaker 1: to win. Lets you know want to see injured like that.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Fresquats to him and his family. That's a scary sight
- 18:07Speaker 1: to see in this game. You never want to see that.
- 18:09Speaker 1: So you know it's tough. You felt the energy shift
- 18:12Speaker 1: a little bit, but you gotta still in a beckiet
- 18:15Speaker 1: of mind, cute the task at hand. After being evaluated
- 18:18Speaker 1: at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Tungo Va Loa
- 18:21Speaker 1: was released from the hospital and traveled back to Miami
- 18:25Speaker 1: with the team. The Bengals Booth Podcast is presented by

- 18:41Speaker 1: Now time for postgame analysis and this week's radio guys recap,
- 18:46Speaker 1: Well lapped. I vaguely remember when the Bengals were oh
- 18:49Speaker 1: and two and everybody was worried. Now they're two and two,
- 18:52Speaker 1: They've knocked off an undefeated team and in a five
- 18:54Speaker 1: day period they're back on track. Yeah, I mean lose
- 18:57Speaker 1: the first two games by three points and then win
- 19:00Speaker 1: two by double digit scores, by two scores or more.
- 19:03Speaker 1: That's a that's pretty good recovery, pretty good rebound, pretty
- 19:06Speaker 1: good bounce back, whatever you want to call it. Now
- 19:09Speaker 1: they find themselves, you know, two and two. Best record
- 19:13Speaker 1: in the AFC is three and one. They're right squarely
- 19:16Speaker 1: back in the hunt. And you know, they start the
- 19:20Speaker 1: season off minus five as while they lose to Pittsburgh.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Now they're plus one, so they've done a good job
- 19:26Speaker 1: of remedying that issue. And they go from minus five
- 19:30Speaker 1: in their first game at home too, plus two in
- 19:34Speaker 1: this game and not turn it over a lick, turn
- 19:37Speaker 1: it over five times and don't get a takeaway, just
- 19:39Speaker 1: the opposite. You know, they get two takeaways, we're high,
- 19:42Speaker 1: two interceptions by von Bell and don't turn it over
- 19:44Speaker 1: at all. It's pretty good record. Crowd in attendance, and
- 19:47Speaker 1: these guys, based on the ones I talked you seem
- 19:49Speaker 1: genuinely appreciative of the noise level, the fact that they
- 19:53Speaker 1: were throwing the Dolphins off early in the game. They
- 19:55Speaker 1: were confused, they were forced to burn a couple of
- 19:58Speaker 1: time outs. You've been out there as a player. I mean,
- 20:01Speaker 1: what does that mean when the crowd is behind you
- 20:03Speaker 1: that way. Yeah, it's it's significant, There's no question. I've
- 20:08Speaker 1: been on both sides of it, you know, and it's
- 20:11Speaker 1: it's it's a real joy when it's in your favor,
- 20:14Speaker 1: and it is brutally difficult when it's not. I mean,
- 20:18Speaker 1: you know it just if I think if you've never
- 20:22Speaker 1: experienced TONIGHTUS whatever they call it, that's what it sounds.
- 20:26Speaker 1: It sounds like you have TONIGHTUS. It's like your brain
- 20:29Speaker 1: is just there's a constant hum. You can't hear anything,
- 20:32Speaker 1: you can't really think. I mean, it's it's really brutal.
- 20:35Speaker 1: It makes you very hesitant, and it's tough to operate.
- 20:40Speaker 1: They were going crazy on the takeaways on the two interceptions.
- 20:43Speaker 1: It was hard to communicate. Zach was saying that they
- 20:46Speaker 1: had a hard time getting the play call in and
- 20:48Speaker 1: communicating it because the crowd was so pumped up and
- 20:50Speaker 1: geeked up after the takeaway. So, uh, they were in
- 20:54Speaker 1: full throat, as we like to say, from start to
- 20:57Speaker 1: finish tonight, and it was it was really good to
- 20:59Speaker 1: see and like we thought, Dan, it was a huge
- 21:02Speaker 1: factor in the outcome of the football game, and I
- 21:04Speaker 1: thought the way the Bengals started the game, you know,
- 21:07Speaker 1: take the football, go up against that dolphin defense had
- 21:09Speaker 1: played ninety snaps in that heat and humidity, and grind
- 21:12Speaker 1: on him a little bit. I think that had a
- 21:14Speaker 1: little bit of effect as the game came to a conclusion,
- 21:17Speaker 1: particularly when they went down a couple of scores, they
- 21:20Speaker 1: didn't really have much fight left. So the Bengals offensive
- 21:23Speaker 1: line got ripped and roasted the first couple of weeks
- 21:25Speaker 1: of the season. Last week, they surrendered two sacks in
- 21:28Speaker 1: the win over the Jets. Tonight it was one sack,
- 21:31Speaker 1: so it's obviously trending up. And tonight only three quarterback hits.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Last week against the Jets, Joe still got hit nine times,
- 21:38Speaker 1: but tonight he rarely hit the ground. I thought he
- 21:41Speaker 1: had a lot of very good pockets where you know,
- 21:44Speaker 1: there was nobody within five yards of him, and he
- 21:46Speaker 1: had an unimpeded view. I mean, he had big throwing
- 21:49Speaker 1: lanes that there were no bodies in front of him.
- 21:52Speaker 1: And to me, you know, that's when you're really protecting
- 21:55Speaker 1: well when you give the quarterback not only time but
- 21:59Speaker 1: space and and so all three of those components tonight
- 22:03Speaker 1: he did have time and for the most party had
- 22:05Speaker 1: space to operate and then vision to see the field.
- 22:09Speaker 1: And you can't say that, you know, necessarily, particularly in
- 22:11Speaker 1: the first two weeks. It got better last week and
- 22:14Speaker 1: it improved this week. So the graph's going in the
- 22:16Speaker 1: right direction. A gigantic game for te Higgins seven catches
- 22:20Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty four yards, including the fifty nine
- 22:22Speaker 1: yard touchdown. Jamar Chase had four catches for eighty one yards.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I think most people look at this team, as you know,
- 22:29Speaker 1: Chase is the number one receiver and Higgins is a
- 22:32Speaker 1: very good number two. It's probably time to throw that aside.
- 22:36Speaker 1: It's one and one a. If you go back to
- 22:38Speaker 1: the playoffs last year, te Higgins made just as many
- 22:41Speaker 1: big plays down the stretch as Jamar Chase. They truly
- 22:44Speaker 1: have two number one receivers and probably two of the
- 22:48Speaker 1: top ten or fifteen in the NFL. Agreed, you know,
- 22:51Speaker 1: and every one of the receivers. The Trio had a
- 22:56Speaker 1: massive play fifty nine yard touchdown, forty three yard reception
- 23:00Speaker 1: by Tyler Boyd, twenty a thirty six yard completion to
- 23:04Speaker 1: Mark Our twenty three yard completion de mar Chase, and
- 23:07Speaker 1: he had another thirty six yard reception from Joe Burrow.
- 23:10Speaker 1: So they got, you know, four plays of twenty yards
- 23:13Speaker 1: and more from you know, three different guys. So and
- 23:17Speaker 1: then the other one like we thought, Okay, which tight
- 23:21Speaker 1: end's going to step up? Hayden Hurst gave me a
- 23:22Speaker 1: lot of energy on that nineteen yard catch. It got
- 23:24Speaker 1: the crowd going. He got it going, He got his
- 23:27Speaker 1: teammates going. Three yard passed for sixteen run after catch
- 23:32Speaker 1: for sixteen yards. The two yard touchdown reception was huge.
- 23:35Speaker 1: He had a massive contribution. You know, you think, oh,
- 23:38Speaker 1: you know, you know what, three catches for twenty seven yards.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Sometimes you have to look at the entirety of in
- 23:45Speaker 1: the scope of what those catches when they occurred, how
- 23:48Speaker 1: important they were. They were big. They were big plays
- 23:51Speaker 1: by Hayden Hurst. So I thought he made a major
- 23:53Speaker 1: contribution as well, a lot of big plays on the
- 23:56Speaker 1: defensive end. Tonight, Von Bell with his first two interception
- 23:59Speaker 1: game out only in the NFL, but his first since
- 24:01Speaker 1: high school. He never had two in a game at
- 24:03Speaker 1: Ohio State. Logan Wilson with a huge stop on third
- 24:06Speaker 1: and one in the fourth quarter when the Bengals were
- 24:08Speaker 1: clinging to a two point lead. I'll group this in
- 24:10Speaker 1: on defense, rookie Jeffrey Gunter blocking that fifty two yard
- 24:14Speaker 1: field goal try, Josh Tupo with the first sack of
- 24:18Speaker 1: his NFL career. Unfortunately, it was the play that knocked
- 24:21Speaker 1: to a Tungo Vloa out of the game. But it
- 24:23Speaker 1: was a big defensive play at the time, a lot
- 24:25Speaker 1: of defensive heroes. In summary, there was Dan and you
- 24:29Speaker 1: know they had their duo. The Bengals had the trio,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and we talked about each one of them coming up
- 24:34Speaker 1: with a big play, an explosive play. Everybody was like,
- 24:38Speaker 1: oh man, you know, this is the Olympic caliber speed
- 24:40Speaker 1: for these guys. And well, Hill had his moments. Obviously,
- 24:44Speaker 1: ten catches one hundred and sixty yards. A bunch of
- 24:46Speaker 1: him came on a sixty four yard completion, though I
- 24:48Speaker 1: mean that that was a big play. Obviously he had
- 24:51Speaker 1: another one for twenty six so you know there's there's
- 24:54Speaker 1: over half of it on those two steps they shot
- 24:56Speaker 1: waddled down, you know, two catches for thirty nine yards.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I mean, they did a good job. If you can't
- 25:03Speaker 1: let both of them hurt you, and that's what had
- 25:05Speaker 1: happened in the past in some of the games that
- 25:07Speaker 1: Dolphins played in, and they had a package where you know,
- 25:11Speaker 1: they were going to make both those guys work and
- 25:13Speaker 1: earn their catches and their plays. And it worked out
- 25:17Speaker 1: because they Waddle Waddle could not could not support what
- 25:21Speaker 1: Hill was doing, and the Bengals had a support system.
- 25:24Speaker 1: You know, Higgins had the big numbers, he was getting
- 25:26Speaker 1: the one on one coverage. You know they were saying, okay,
- 25:29Speaker 1: how just you eliminate him, You'll race him one on one.
- 25:32Speaker 1: We're gonna double Boyd in the sawt and we're gonna
- 25:33Speaker 1: double Jamar Chase. And every time Joe Joe Burrow saw
- 25:37Speaker 1: that man coverage, they were including the obviously the big
- 25:40Speaker 1: play for the touchdown that was huge, just a great
- 25:44Speaker 1: route and a great catch. But they have an answer
- 25:47Speaker 1: for everything, which is which is great and uh Louiana
- 25:50Speaker 1: Rumo his defensive football team. They're on a roll right now.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I mean the the touchdown not not scoring a touchdown
- 25:57Speaker 1: streak end there at twenty four possessions, but they're starting
- 26:00Speaker 1: another one as we'll go, another twenty possessions act. They've
- 26:02Speaker 1: only given up four touchdowns on the season, four touchdowns
- 26:06Speaker 1: now five because you know, the pick six, but four
- 26:09Speaker 1: defensive touchdowns in four football games. It's gonna win you
- 26:12Speaker 1: a lot of football games. And the other thing, Miami's
- 26:15Speaker 1: two for ten on third down, two for ten. I mean,
- 26:18Speaker 1: that's that's gonna win you a lot of football games
- 26:20Speaker 1: as well. You're talking you know, money downs and we're
- 26:23Speaker 1: talking about you know, they drive to start it at
- 26:25Speaker 1: the ten and went all the way to the two
- 26:27Speaker 1: and then they have to settle the field goal the
- 26:28Speaker 1: ultimate ben. But don't break. And you know, as the
- 26:31Speaker 1: old saying goes, yards are for losers. Winners worry about points.
- 26:36Speaker 1: You know, points on the board is what the key
- 26:37Speaker 1: thing is. And they're they're amongst the league leaders points allowed,
- 26:41Speaker 1: there's no doubt. I guess the only negative was the
- 26:43Speaker 1: running game. They tried at twenty four carries for Joe
- 26:46Speaker 1: Mix and he did score a five yard touchdown. He
- 26:48Speaker 1: also had four catches, but there's twenty four rushing attempts
- 26:52Speaker 1: only produced sixty one yards. Just have not been able
- 26:55Speaker 1: to really get him rolling yet. Yeah, I mean, you know,
- 27:00Speaker 1: they did a decent job out in the field, got
- 27:04Speaker 1: to third and ones and converted. You know, they probably
- 27:07Speaker 1: through it was probably five times. It was probably three
- 27:10Speaker 1: and two running the past, but you know, the low
- 27:14Speaker 1: red zone, uh, failures were bothersome. You got to get
- 27:18Speaker 1: it done. In order to be a very good finishing
- 27:22Speaker 1: football team, you have to be able to run the
- 27:24Speaker 1: ball in the red zone, in particular in the low
- 27:26Speaker 1: red zone because the field so compressed and you have
- 27:29Speaker 1: to impose yourself, you know, in those kind of close
- 27:32Speaker 1: situations somewhere somehow. So they got they still have work
- 27:36Speaker 1: to do. They're far from a finished product, and you know,
- 27:38Speaker 1: that's the encouraging thing. I think. I think Miami is
- 27:41Speaker 1: a solid football team. I think they're gonna I think
- 27:43Speaker 1: they're gonna win their share of games. I think that's
- 27:45Speaker 1: a pretty good group. And I think their head coach
- 27:49Speaker 1: has got it going on, and they believe in him
- 27:51Speaker 1: and he believes in them, and you know that two
- 27:53Speaker 1: way trust can be a powerful thing. I think I
- 27:57Speaker 1: think they're gonna be a snootfral for a lot of people.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So the Bengals have faced Mitchell Trubisky, Cooper Rush, Joe Flacco,
- 28:05Speaker 1: they get a little more than a half where they
- 28:07Speaker 1: face Teddy Bridgewater about to get more challenging in the
- 28:10Speaker 1: next game, assuming that Lamar Jackson is Okay when Baltimore
- 28:13Speaker 1: plays this weekend Sunday night football in Baltimore against the
- 28:17Speaker 1: guy who's off to an incredible start, Yeah he is.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I mean, he's a guy that's betting on himself. He's
- 28:23Speaker 1: putting all the chips in the middle of the table.
- 28:25Speaker 1: He's got a lot of incentive. And I mean he's
- 28:28Speaker 1: responsible in the first three games for twelve touchdowns, ten passing,
- 28:32Speaker 1: too rushing. There's only one team in the NFL that's
- 28:35Speaker 1: scored more touchdowns than he hasn't as an individual. I mean,
- 28:39Speaker 1: it's crazy the stuff he's doing. So, you know, but
- 28:44Speaker 1: I will say I believe in lou Louis had some
- 28:48Speaker 1: good game plans and the versatility and the positionless players
- 28:52Speaker 1: that he has to use his chess pieces. I just
- 28:55Speaker 1: wonder what the next move is going to be to
- 28:58Speaker 1: try to, you know, at least check if not checkmate
- 29:03Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, because that's a that's a handful right now,
- 29:06Speaker 1: the way he's playing. But if they can, if they
- 29:09Speaker 1: can just minimize the production of Chase that that defensive
- 29:13Speaker 1: football team is not the same. I mean, they're a
- 29:15Speaker 1: struggling at this point in time, So you got to
- 29:18Speaker 1: hope that Joe Burrow in the Bengals offense continue to
- 29:20Speaker 1: grow and improve and that might be able to throw
- 29:23Speaker 1: up a lot of points on the board because at
- 29:24Speaker 1: some point they're going to have to win the football game.
- 29:27Speaker 1: The defense has been the story in the first four
- 29:30Speaker 1: games so the season. They've been the consistent thread. The
- 29:34Speaker 1: offense has had their ups and down. Special teams has contributed.
- 29:36Speaker 1: You know, I mean the complimentary football aspect of it,
- 29:39Speaker 1: but you know, defensively, that phase of this football team
- 29:44Speaker 1: has been the most consistent on a week to week
- 29:46Speaker 1: basis by far. Enjoy your many by weekend, you do
- 29:50Speaker 1: the same, sir, have the best weekend you ever had.
- 29:53Speaker 1: The Bengals exercise some demons last year when they ended
- 29:56Speaker 1: the long playoff drought and finally one our road play
- 30:00Speaker 1: off game. Next week, they'll try to exercise another demon
- 30:04Speaker 1: when they faced the Ravens on Sunday Night Football. The
- 30:07Speaker 1: Bengals all time record in Sunday Night games on NBC
- 30:12Speaker 1: is one and twelve. This podcast is presented by Bengals

- 30:20Speaker 1: and signed merchandise up for grabs. Find both inside the
- 30:24Speaker 1: Bengals app. Finally, it's time for this week's fun Facts interview,
- 30:29Speaker 1: where we get to know the person under the pads.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Time for some fun facts with Bengals cornerback trade Flowers
- 30:36Speaker 1: from Converse, Texas near San Antonio. Describe your hometown a
- 30:40Speaker 1: little bit and what were some of the things you
- 30:42Speaker 1: enjoy doing as a kid. Typical Texas high school football town.
- 30:47Speaker 1: We all set down to go to the games. Some
- 30:50Speaker 1: things I enjoy growing up was just football the whole town.
- 30:54Speaker 1: That's what we played. We played every chance we got,
- 30:57Speaker 1: so that was always your number one sport, always, always, Never.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I was taught everybody wanted me to play basketball, but
- 31:04Speaker 1: I knew in my heart I was gonna play football.
- 31:06Speaker 1: You have an uncle that played in the NFL. Correct,
- 31:09Speaker 1: Eric Flowers, first round pick two thousand drafts to the
- 31:13Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills. And did he helped create that desire for
- 31:18Speaker 1: this to become a profession if you could make it? Definitely,
- 31:22Speaker 1: just seeing it. I was there when he got drafted.
- 31:25Speaker 1: We were all at my grandma's house, and I remember
- 31:28Speaker 1: that day like yesterday. I don't care how long ago
- 31:30Speaker 1: it was, and just knowing what football did for our family,
- 31:34Speaker 1: so as I saw all I wanted to do. We're
- 31:36Speaker 1: doing fun facts with Trey Flowers. Being in Cincinnati is
- 31:39Speaker 1: not the first time you've worn orange and black. You
- 31:42Speaker 1: went to Oklahoma State. Why did you choose Oklahoma State
- 31:45Speaker 1: and what did you enjoy most about your college experience.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Why I trod Oklahoma State. It was a family atmosphere,
- 31:52Speaker 1: a lot like here, close to home. My mom liked it.
- 31:56Speaker 1: That had my major. I was real big on academics,
- 31:59Speaker 1: and it just worked out. I loved everything about Oakleam
- 32:03Speaker 1: State my time there. I read shared it one year.
- 32:05Speaker 1: That's probably my toughest year not playing football, but I
- 32:08Speaker 1: started four years after that and we won a lot
- 32:11Speaker 1: of games. You were drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in
- 32:14Speaker 1: the fifth round in twenty eighteen. Describe your draft experience.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Typical draft experience. Wanted to go earlier, but very grateful
- 32:22Speaker 1: to go in the fifth round. Got the call and
- 32:27Speaker 1: they taught me I was switching positions on the phone
- 32:29Speaker 1: for the draft, so on top of being anxious and excited,
- 32:33Speaker 1: it was just a lot of emotions that I really
- 32:35Speaker 1: can't even explain. I was just ready to get up
- 32:37Speaker 1: there and get my best put my best foot forward
- 32:40Speaker 1: from safety in college immediately to cornerback in the NFL.
- 32:45Speaker 1: What was the most difficult part about that switch? The
- 32:50Speaker 1: eyes part, I would say just being disciplined at corner.
- 32:54Speaker 1: You know, they say you're on the island the whole time.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Just knowing that and being able to use both eyes
- 33:00Speaker 1: on the field. Being in the middle of the field
- 33:01Speaker 1: that safety is it's very different. So that was one
- 33:05Speaker 1: of the things. The footwork, of course, just and learning
- 33:08Speaker 1: concepts from a different perspective. But it helped my football knowledge,
- 33:12Speaker 1: Like through the roof, I could see it through everybody's eyes.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Now for visiting the trade Flowers, you joined the Bengals
- 33:18Speaker 1: last year in mid October after you were claimed off waivers.
- 33:22Speaker 1: You hopped on the Red Eye, took the overnight flight
- 33:24Speaker 1: to Cincinnati, and showed up at practice the next morning.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Why the rush. I wanted to show the thing since
- 33:32Speaker 1: Seattle didn't go is I wanted it, and I wanted
- 33:35Speaker 1: to show that I was ready. I wanted to show
- 33:37Speaker 1: that any team could put me anywhere, I could play anywhere,
- 33:41Speaker 1: and just to believe in me. So it was just
- 33:44Speaker 1: a test to me, Like I just I wasn't backing
- 33:46Speaker 1: off at all. When that situation didn't work out, I
- 33:49Speaker 1: knew something was gonna come in my favor, and it did.
- 33:51Speaker 1: I got here and it was a blessing. In a
- 33:53Speaker 1: very short period of time, it felt like you had
- 33:56Speaker 1: been here for like three years. What was it about
- 33:58Speaker 1: your teammates or the coaching staff or whatever that allowed
- 34:02Speaker 1: you to fit in so quickly and so well. It
- 34:05Speaker 1: was so I remember couch Rob from the combine. He
- 34:09Speaker 1: liked me at Oklahoma State, so just that familiar familiarity.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Me and Jesse came out the same year, so we
- 34:17Speaker 1: talked at the combine a lot, and then just seeing
- 34:20Speaker 1: how serious guys were about football. It was no outside
- 34:22Speaker 1: distractions when they came to work. They came to work.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I always do a lot of extra stuff, like I
- 34:27Speaker 1: always lift and do that, and everybody was in there
- 34:31Speaker 1: with me, like we didn't plan it, and it was
- 34:33Speaker 1: just they saw me working, I saw them working it.
- 34:36Speaker 1: It just made us closer as a team, and they
- 34:38Speaker 1: were already close when I got here. I loved it,
- 34:40Speaker 1: so I just wanted to fit in. So you joined
- 34:43Speaker 1: the Bengals and go to the Super Bowl your first
- 34:45Speaker 1: year with this team. There's a great picture of you
- 34:48Speaker 1: on the internet. I think it's from your hometown newspaper
- 34:50Speaker 1: of you with your dad after the FC Championship. You've
- 34:53Speaker 1: just put the AFC Championship hat on his head. You
- 34:57Speaker 1: two are embracing. Can you describe that moment? Man, It
- 35:00Speaker 1: was just a lot of you say fun facts. My
- 35:04Speaker 1: dad was in a motorcycle accident my junior year of college.
- 35:07Speaker 1: I never thought. I didn't think he was gonna make it,
- 35:11Speaker 1: you know, shattered his pelvis, ruptured a lot of organs
- 35:14Speaker 1: and whatnot. He didn't walk. He was an ICU for
- 35:17Speaker 1: like fifty days. So he kind of gave me another
- 35:21Speaker 1: motivation to just keep going, keep going. And seeing him
- 35:24Speaker 1: after that game, you know, all the emotions coming and
- 35:27Speaker 1: it just felt so good that everything paid off. How's
- 35:30Speaker 1: he doing now? Great? You know, see him now, you
- 35:32Speaker 1: wouldn't even know. He's a little slower in a step,
- 35:34Speaker 1: but very grateful for life. Works out, goes to work.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I love it. That's great. We're visiting the Trey Flowers.
- 35:42Speaker 1: So the Super Bowl obviously featured a heartbreaking ending for
- 35:45Speaker 1: the Bengals, but it's experience that every player dreams of
- 35:49Speaker 1: reaching at some point in their career. Hopefully more than
- 35:52Speaker 1: once in your case. But what was the Super Bowl
- 35:55Speaker 1: experience like for you? It was it was surreal. It
- 36:00Speaker 1: was like a dream, you know, just going there and
- 36:03Speaker 1: all the activities and stuff. It was a little different,
- 36:06Speaker 1: you know. But at the end of the day, we
- 36:07Speaker 1: were just playing football. And that's what I love to do,
- 36:10Speaker 1: is a little bigger crowd, a little more celebrities in
- 36:13Speaker 1: the crowd. But it was just playing football. And it
- 36:16Speaker 1: sucks we came up a little short, but we'll be
- 36:18Speaker 1: all right. I'll right some wildcard topics. Now, for tray flowers,
- 36:22Speaker 1: you are not the only trade flowers in the NFL.
- 36:25Speaker 1: You are t R There's t R e Y with
- 36:28Speaker 1: the Miami Dolphins. Do you ever get confused for the
- 36:31Speaker 1: other tray flowers? Now, my grandma is a big Google person.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Now that's what she does. She says, there and Google.
- 36:39Speaker 1: She's so mad that his name comes up before mine.
- 36:42Speaker 1: His picture comes up. But now that's that's about it.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I've been watching him since Arkansas. I found out about
- 36:48Speaker 1: him before he even got drafted. I used to Google
- 36:50Speaker 1: myself too when I was a kid, So seeing him,
- 36:53Speaker 1: I just, you know, I supported him. Family along the way.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I don't know maybe a long time ago now. In
- 37:00Speaker 1: your case, Trey is short for trade quill or trey quill,
- 37:04Speaker 1: tray kill, tray kill traquille. So like Shaquille O'Neill. A
- 37:07Speaker 1: lot of people don't know Shacks from San Antonio. I
- 37:10Speaker 1: was a real big baby. My family ran with it.
- 37:13Speaker 1: The doctors came up with it. It was they just
- 37:15Speaker 1: took it and go. You made it to sixty three,
- 37:18Speaker 1: not seventeen. Man file sevento. I might have picked a
- 37:21Speaker 1: different sport. I suspect you would have. We're visiting the
- 37:25Speaker 1: tray flowers. You have described your offseason job as dad.
- 37:31Speaker 1: What do you love about being a father? What do
- 37:34Speaker 1: I love about it? It doesn't matter what type of
- 37:37Speaker 1: day I'm having, or what type of game I had,
- 37:40Speaker 1: or I'm real hard on myself. You know, like every
- 37:43Speaker 1: other football player, that you want to play the perfect game.
- 37:46Speaker 1: And she doesn't see any of that, she doesn't care
- 37:50Speaker 1: about any of that. She sees me. She's happy, energetic,
- 37:53Speaker 1: she gives me life, she gives me love, and I
- 37:56Speaker 1: just see her, I have no chance about to smile.
- 37:58Speaker 1: She's so happy to see me as I gotta go.
- 38:00Speaker 1: It just gives me a motivation do you have any
- 38:04Speaker 1: hidden talents. Hidden talents? Uh, I can cook pretty good.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I can cook a little bit. My dad likes when
- 38:13Speaker 1: I cook, So that's my When she tells me it
- 38:15Speaker 1: is good, that like really done something to me, I
- 38:18Speaker 1: would say, that's my hidden talent, my go to dish.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I'm from Texas, I'm from San Antonio, so I can
- 38:24Speaker 1: make enchiladas and she really likes them so and it
- 38:29Speaker 1: makes me feel like that that feeling that makes me
- 38:31Speaker 1: feel real good that she says that, what do you
- 38:34Speaker 1: like to splurge on with your money? But my money.
- 38:38Speaker 1: I was a real type person. That's what my parents
- 38:41Speaker 1: always said growing up. I never really I just bought
- 38:45Speaker 1: my car this year, first car ever. Five years in
- 38:48Speaker 1: the league, never had a car. So I had a
- 38:51Speaker 1: couple of marketing deals in Seattle, and then when I
- 38:55Speaker 1: went home, I used my parents car. They had extra
- 38:57Speaker 1: I paid off their cars, so you got let me
- 39:00Speaker 1: use one if I paid it off. So that was it.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I never really I splured on my daughter and my fiance.
- 39:06Speaker 1: They get they got so much clothes and whatnot. But
- 39:09Speaker 1: I'm a simple guy. Since you're from the San Antonio area,
- 39:14Speaker 1: Is the Alamo overrated? Is a tourist destination. Now, I
- 39:19Speaker 1: would never say that. I would think people would want
- 39:21Speaker 1: to go learn the history. And Texas history is a thing,
- 39:26Speaker 1: so I always push Texas history on a lot of people.
- 39:28Speaker 1: But I mean, other people have other opinions. You'll never
- 39:32Speaker 1: hear that from me. And the Riverwalk is truly awesome, truly,
- 39:36Speaker 1: I think so just if you're from there, of course
- 39:39Speaker 1: you get tired of it. I can see that from
- 39:41Speaker 1: some people, but I'm sitting the people there. If you go,
- 39:44Speaker 1: if you've never been to San Antonio, you gotta go
- 39:45Speaker 1: see it one time at least. Totally agree. Final fun
- 39:49Speaker 1: fact for Trey Flowers, This one's kind of deep. If
- 39:51Speaker 1: you could meet anybody in history, athlete, actor, statesman, whoever
- 39:56Speaker 1: it might be, who would that person be. That's always
- 40:00Speaker 1: hard for me because I'm a real big perspective person.
- 40:04Speaker 1: I would want to see like my someone in my family.
- 40:08Speaker 1: I won't say who, just younger and they get to
- 40:11Speaker 1: see me like this, and I get to see them
- 40:14Speaker 1: how they were, and I want to see if there's
- 40:16Speaker 1: any similarities, you know, just I always I used to
- 40:19Speaker 1: talk to my grandma. I talk to my grandma every day,
- 40:21Speaker 1: and my other grandparents passed away. Sadly. They were a
- 40:25Speaker 1: little older, but we were a lot alike. We agreed
- 40:29Speaker 1: a lot, and even as a young kid, they always
- 40:32Speaker 1: would say they see me in them, and I would
- 40:34Speaker 1: just want to do that. I wouldn't want I can't
- 40:37Speaker 1: pick somebody specifically, but I just want to go back
- 40:40Speaker 1: in time and pick their brain. See, you want to
- 40:42Speaker 1: like me like this. You want a time machine as
- 40:45Speaker 1: I want a time machine. I don't want to talk
- 40:46Speaker 1: to one person. I want a time machine just for
- 40:48Speaker 1: a couple of days. I'll come back. It's a very
- 40:50Speaker 1: good answer. I appreciate your time. This was fun. Best
- 40:53Speaker 1: about the rest of the year. Thank you, Thank you
- 40:55Speaker 1: for having me. That's going to do it for this
