- 0:24Speaker 1: It is time to leave your worries outside and laugh
- 0:28Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Dan, O'Malley along with
- 0:31Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm. Today. Today is Tuesday, July twenty second, twenty
- 0:37Speaker 1: twenty five. Just a couple of days removed physically or
- 0:44Speaker 1: mentally or whatever fashion. It is from our Sunday Fun
- 0:48Speaker 1: Day road show, which truly was a lot of fun,
- 0:52Speaker 1: and we appreciate all of you for coming out and
- 0:55Speaker 1: hanging out with us at the Maverick in Carrollton on
- 1:00Speaker 1: on Sunday afternoon for the live taping for the episode
- 1:02Speaker 1: that drop Tuesday, I mean Monday and is You can
- 1:05Speaker 1: probably tell I'm having really difficult time remembering and trying
- 1:09Speaker 1: to keep track of what day it is because I'm
- 1:11Speaker 1: so far out of my element being back in Texas
- 1:13Speaker 1: right now. Also my social media, see I can't even talk.
- 1:18Speaker 1: My social meter is running on fumes, like.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Your meter of your ability to be around people.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yep, that's it. That's exactly it. That's the one.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah. Is it ever on full?
- 1:33Speaker 1: Rarely?
- 1:34Speaker 2: Okay, rarely?
- 1:39Speaker 1: I think I'm not sure what happens more my social
- 1:43Speaker 1: meter being full and ready for action or the planet's
- 1:47Speaker 1: a lightning I'm not sure which actually happens, or maybe
- 1:51Speaker 1: the Olympics or something somewhere in that vicinity is probably accurate.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I think mine's tied to Haley's comment.
- 2:00Speaker 1: So when you're around seventy eight or so, you'll be
- 2:04Speaker 1: back to full for a very brief moment as it
- 2:10Speaker 1: shoots across the sky. That being said, it really was
- 2:15Speaker 1: great to see everyone that came out had really had
- 2:17Speaker 1: a great time, and I'm glad. I'm always glad we
- 2:21Speaker 1: do it, and glad that we managed to pull it
- 2:25Speaker 1: off yet again.
- 2:26Speaker 2: It was It was a fantastic event. Well done on
- 2:29Speaker 2: your part. You played the whole thing. The one thing
- 2:34Speaker 2: I have figured out that I want to see, actually,
- 2:37Speaker 2: I don't even know if I want to see it
- 2:38Speaker 2: as much as I just want to hear it is.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I want to get Kerry Cook and Joe and Jackson
- 2:51Speaker 2: Okay in a room a bottle of vodka and just
- 3:00Speaker 2: let them go at it and then just see. It
- 3:03Speaker 2: will be far easier to see to pick out the
- 3:07Speaker 2: words if we did a reverse bleep and just bleep
- 3:12Speaker 2: the actual the good words, it would be very easy.
- 3:17Speaker 2: But I figured a couple drinks in each of those
- 3:19Speaker 2: I mean it would just sound sound like a you know,
- 3:23Speaker 2: crazy morse code message.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I think you may be onto something, and I think
- 3:28Speaker 1: you are now turning into the executive producer slash developer
- 3:33Speaker 1: of the wind Down podcast starring Joan Jackson and Kerry Cook.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'd be happy to listen slash watch that for a
- 3:45Speaker 1: little bit to see what would happen. So good idea
- 3:48Speaker 1: on you. Yeah, but I'm gonna have to step aside
- 3:52Speaker 1: on that project and let you spearhead that. I'll let
- 3:59Speaker 1: you wrangle those two or at least it got.
- 4:01Speaker 2: To a certain point. Joanne was sitting farther back, so
- 4:05Speaker 2: she was out of mic range. Carrie, on the other hand,
- 4:08Speaker 2: was just within mic range where I had to really
- 4:12Speaker 2: before we posted the shows, I had to really go
- 4:14Speaker 2: through and listen to the audio to make sure none
- 4:16Speaker 2: of the cuss words that she was dropping profusely made
- 4:22Speaker 2: it on the air.
- 4:25Speaker 1: It's a really awkward moment when you have to go
- 4:27Speaker 1: to one of your biggest sponsors and say we need
- 4:30Speaker 1: you to be quiet.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Or at least we were sitting at a table with
- 4:35Speaker 2: another guy that I was almost to a point had
- 4:38Speaker 2: I had something I could have thrown, I would throw
- 4:40Speaker 2: I have thrown it at them because they were both
- 4:43Speaker 2: just like I looked at only at one point Jerry
- 4:47Speaker 2: was standing there. I was like, get them.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Were they just were they just raw dog in the
- 4:52Speaker 1: English langue?
- 4:55Speaker 2: They were a raw dog in the f words.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Again, had a great time and very glad for everyone
- 5:03Speaker 1: that came out, including Carrie and Daniel Cook from COOKDFW
- 5:07Speaker 1: Roofing and Restoration and not only for being there and
- 5:09Speaker 1: showing up for us, but also donating a massive thirty
- 5:14Speaker 1: one dollars check to the RMS Treehouse Listeners Foundation. So
- 5:20Speaker 1: very very grateful to them as well. That being said,
- 5:24Speaker 1: one of the only actual topics we covered at the
- 5:28Speaker 1: road show on Sunday was a little bit of a
- 5:31Speaker 1: catchup from the Coldplay kiss cam viral debacle and because
- 5:39Speaker 1: of everything that happened over the last handful of days.
- 5:42Speaker 1: You get this couple on the kiss cam at the
- 5:44Speaker 1: Coldplay concert and they pop up on the screen and
- 5:48Speaker 1: they immediately react. The dude dives for cover, the girl
- 5:51Speaker 1: turns and hides her face, and Chris Martin throws out
- 5:54Speaker 1: either they're having an affair or they're just extremely shy.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Turns out it's the former. And speaking of former. The
- 6:02Speaker 1: guy was the CEO of a software company that he
- 6:06Speaker 1: helped found. He has now resigned his position from that company.
- 6:11Speaker 1: The female in question on this viral kiss cam I
- 6:17Speaker 1: believe is still technically employed as the head of HR
- 6:22Speaker 1: at the same company. We don't know what her current
- 6:25Speaker 1: position is other than in hiding, but the CEO has resigned, she.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Has to go through the proper HR steps.
- 6:34Speaker 1: She has to perform her own exit interview. I've been
- 6:38Speaker 1: bad and that doesn't beg the question that we didn't
- 6:44Speaker 1: even bring up when we first talked about this was
- 6:48Speaker 1: I'm guessing they didn't have this relationship disclosed with a JR.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I feel confident in saying that even in the world
- 6:59Speaker 2: we live in today, It's been a minute since I've
- 7:02Speaker 2: worked in in corporate corporate world, but inner office romances
- 7:07Speaker 2: are still frowned upon. I believe that that that will
- 7:13Speaker 2: never change because they don't play out well.
- 7:16Speaker 1: It never does, and we're getting a healthy dose of
- 7:20Speaker 1: it right now for the world to see. Usually it's
- 7:24Speaker 1: just your friends and maybe some family and definitely co
- 7:27Speaker 1: workers that will see fallout from a from a situation,
- 7:30Speaker 1: from a romantic situation at work turning bad.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Have you seen the Chris Martin at the next concert,
- 7:41Speaker 2: how he kind of let into the kisscam thing.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You. I wonder if you're leading into the same place
- 7:48Speaker 1: I am, but you go first.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Oh. Just he was kind of almost gave like a
- 7:52Speaker 2: disclosure of Hey, we're about to put this.
- 7:57Speaker 1: So the headline I saw today is cold Play is
- 8:00Speaker 1: now warning fans before unleashing the kiss Camp.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I forgot his wording, but he was like, so,
- 8:07Speaker 2: if you don't want to be seen on this, here's
- 8:11Speaker 2: your warning.
- 8:11Speaker 1: It's like yeah. During their show Saturday night in Madison, Wisconsin,
- 8:17Speaker 1: Chris Martin warned the audience before they did the Kiss
- 8:20Speaker 1: camp and it was their first show since they outed
- 8:23Speaker 1: tech CEO Andy Byron and his head of HR mistress
- 8:27Speaker 1: last week. He said, this is at the concert, Chris
- 8:30Speaker 1: Martin said, we'd like to say hello to some of
- 8:32Speaker 1: you in the crowd. How we're going to do that
- 8:35Speaker 1: is we're going to use our cameras and put some
- 8:37Speaker 1: of you on the big screen. So please, if you
- 8:40Speaker 1: have not done your makeup, do your makeup now, which
- 8:44Speaker 1: is a really nice roundabout way of saying if you
- 8:47Speaker 1: don't want to be on camera, well maybe hide because
- 8:52Speaker 1: it's going to happen. And that also had me wondering
- 8:55Speaker 1: because anytime you're at a sporting event, just about every stadium, arena,
- 9:02Speaker 1: whatever has has a kiss cam now, right, and so
- 9:06Speaker 1: some people have bits and things planned ahead of time
- 9:08Speaker 1: in case they get on one. But at the very
- 9:10Speaker 1: least I'm a preparer. I'm an overthinker as well, so
- 9:15Speaker 1: I think, okay, what happened if the kiss cam shows me,
- 9:20Speaker 1: first thing I'm thinking is, okay, well who am I
- 9:22Speaker 1: actually here with? And if it's not my wife and
- 9:27Speaker 1: it's say it was you and me, Trey, how would
- 9:29Speaker 1: we want to respond to that? Maybe there's something funny
- 9:31Speaker 1: we could do. That's me preparing in my mind. I'm
- 9:34Speaker 1: surprised that this couple couple error quotes hadn't considered this
- 9:39Speaker 1: at all.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I just don't. I don't think they for some reason
- 9:47Speaker 2: thought about it because there's just some things. Clearly it
- 9:52Speaker 2: looked like they were probably in a box or you
- 9:55Speaker 2: know something. So ay, if you're you know, obviously you're
- 10:01Speaker 2: the CEO of a tech company that's I believe valued
- 10:04Speaker 2: over a billion dollars. So you've got some coin you
- 10:09Speaker 2: run in circles that chances are. If you go to
- 10:12Speaker 2: a sporting event a Coldplay concert, you're going to see
- 10:16Speaker 2: some people that you know, especially in the boxes yep suits.
- 10:21Speaker 1: There's very very limited access to get to those suites,
- 10:24Speaker 1: so you're right, the odds of you running into people
- 10:27Speaker 1: you know very high in those areas.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not like he went to a Kendrick Lamar
- 10:31Speaker 2: concert and you.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Know, although I think they would have stood out there
- 10:37Speaker 1: as well, but that's not called the kiss can.
- 10:51Speaker 3: You're in the treehouse, visit us online at treehouseonair dot com.

- 11:20Speaker 1: and whether or not it can withstand the next one.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Absolutely, Dan, you know, the storm season is year round here.
- 11:27Speaker 4: There is that prime storm season that everybody talks about,
- 11:30Speaker 4: which is our springtime storms. When we got all that
- 11:32Speaker 4: golf moisture coming up and you got some cool fronts
- 11:36Speaker 4: coming through at night or in the afternoons, and that's
- 11:38Speaker 4: when everybody thinks about storm season.
- 11:40Speaker 2: But we can have random storms year round.
- 11:43Speaker 4: We can have storms in July, we can have storms
- 11:45Speaker 4: in August, we can have storms in December, tornadoes year round.
- 11:49Speaker 4: It's a very freaky time in DFW sometimes. So yeah,

- 12:52Speaker 1: I'm Dan, He's Trey. There is a serial butt slapper
- 12:56Speaker 1: on the loose in Boise, Idaho. Keep that in mind.
- 13:00Speaker 1: If you're headed to Boise, Idaho for a summer vacation,
- 13:04Speaker 1: keep your head on a swivel. Police and Boise say
- 13:07Speaker 1: there's a Cereal butt slapper on the loose. He's been
- 13:09Speaker 1: going around on a dirt bike, smacking or grabbing women's
- 13:12Speaker 1: butts as he rides by. This honestly just sounds like
- 13:16Speaker 1: a Tuesday in Italy from things I've heard. Several women,
- 13:20Speaker 1: which of course means seven have filed reports over the
- 13:24Speaker 1: past month. All of the butt slaps occurred between June
- 13:27Speaker 1: eighteenth and July third.
- 13:29Speaker 7: Q the Dodo.
- 13:35Speaker 1: They described him as a white male in dark clothing,
- 13:39Speaker 1: often all black. He also wears gloves and a ski mask.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Well that's pretty smart because you definitely don't want to
- 13:45Speaker 1: leave your fingerprints on any backsides. Yeah. Police think it's
- 13:50Speaker 1: either a skull mask from call of duty or a
- 13:54Speaker 1: venom mask from Spider Man. Security camera got a shot
- 13:58Speaker 1: of him, but of course his face is covered and
- 14:00Speaker 1: it's too blurry to see much.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 14:02Speaker 1: They're hoping someone recognizes him or the bike or whatever
- 14:05Speaker 1: and calls it in So again, if you're going to
- 14:09Speaker 1: be spending any time in or around Boise, just be
- 14:13Speaker 1: aware there's a serial butt slapper on the loose.
- 14:17Speaker 2: In other words, and and if you'd like to go
- 14:19Speaker 2: to a really a safe area, I recommend Boise Ideho,
- 14:26Speaker 2: where the crime story of the summer is the butt slapper.
- 14:31Speaker 7: It really is.
- 14:32Speaker 1: That's the worst thing happening in Boise. It's so bad
- 14:36Speaker 1: it made national news. And here's here's the other rub.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And yes, that one wasn't intended. By the way, If
- 14:45Speaker 1: this story sounds familiar to you, it should because it
- 14:48Speaker 1: did to me as well. Because when I see a
- 14:53Speaker 1: headline that says there's a serial butt slapper on the loose,
- 14:58Speaker 1: I actually remember that this is not the first and
- 15:01Speaker 1: only occurrence. This is not the only Cereal butt slapper.
- 15:05Speaker 1: We may have a multi state butt slapper, because just
- 15:10Speaker 1: earlier this year, and I had to google this just
- 15:13Speaker 1: to make sure, in January, earlier this year, there was
- 15:18Speaker 1: a reported butt slapper on the loose in Denver. So
- 15:25Speaker 1: now I'm wondering, are we seeing a copycat butt slapper
- 15:30Speaker 1: or did he just move on to a different area.
- 15:34Speaker 2: A Cereal butt slapper. It sounds like, you know, hope
- 15:38Speaker 2: the FBI gets involved in this one.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yeah, because I mean, they're not doing anything with Epstein
- 15:45Speaker 1: right now, so you might as well go get something.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, there saw the potential serial killer in
- 15:52Speaker 2: Austin or anything like that. We need to get get
- 15:55Speaker 2: after that butt slapper.
- 15:56Speaker 1: We got a butt slapper terrorizing the Rockies, which is
- 16:02Speaker 1: maybe what the FBI would call him, the Rocky Mountain
- 16:04Speaker 1: butt slapper. This is from January tenth, earlier this year.
- 16:10Speaker 1: A cereal butt slapper on the loose in Colorado, and
- 16:13Speaker 1: police are seeking help and identifying him. A woman in
- 16:16Speaker 1: Denver are actually in the Denver suburb of Lakewood, was
- 16:20Speaker 1: jogging on New Year's Day when a guy drove up
- 16:22Speaker 1: on an e bike and slapped her in a butt.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Then a day later he did it again to a
- 16:27Speaker 1: different woman in the same area. At least two other
- 16:29Speaker 1: incidents had been reported so far. Someone got a shot
- 16:33Speaker 1: of him on his e bike, but of course you
- 16:35Speaker 1: cannot see his face. It does, of course sound funny
- 16:38Speaker 1: that a serial butt slapper is on the loose, but
- 16:42Speaker 1: we are talking about sexual assault charges nonetheless.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I mean, don't you think they'll let him off with
- 16:52Speaker 2: a slap on the wrist.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Oh, you jerk, My face is buried in my hands.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Should be Yeah, but you have a huge smile.
- 17:10Speaker 7: You're in the Treehouse.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Visit us online at Treehouse on air dot com.

- 17:53Speaker 1: in the arrow coming out of it. Send the show
- 17:55Speaker 1: to a friend today. The Treehouse Show is open. Let's grow. Oh,
- 18:01Speaker 1: I'm Daniel Maley. He's trade Trendholm. This is the Treehouse Show. Uh,
- 18:06Speaker 1: just basking in the glory of having uncovered a serial
- 18:09Speaker 1: butt slapper on the loose in the Rockies, which, if
- 18:13Speaker 1: I'm being honest and very very selfish, I'd much rather
- 18:16Speaker 1: be talking about a serial butt slapper on the loose
- 18:18Speaker 1: than a Cereal cup checker. Why did we do that?
- 18:25Speaker 1: Why did we do that in school to each other?
- 18:28Speaker 1: That's horrible.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I can't answer that question. It
- 18:33Speaker 2: was incredibly funny at the time though, to give yeah.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Yes, horrifically unfunny. Yeah, never received that. That's horrifically unfunny.
- 18:45Speaker 7: Uh.
- 18:45Speaker 1: But there is actual other good news, and this is good.
- 18:48Speaker 1: This is good Texas news, something that should be exciting
- 18:50Speaker 1: to all of us that have an affinity for nostalgia.
- 18:56Speaker 1: The original bike from pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure will
- 18:59Speaker 1: be permanently displayed at the Alamo. I hope to god
- 19:03Speaker 1: it's next to the bowie knife. I'm sorry, this is
- 19:12Speaker 1: this is this is a This is one of those
- 19:14Speaker 1: times where I feel very conflicted because one, I think
- 19:18Speaker 1: it's hysterical, but two, this seems even too ridiculous for me,
- 19:22Speaker 1: because when I saw the headline, I thought, Okay, they'll
- 19:24Speaker 1: have pee Wee Herman's bike at the Alamo for like
- 19:27Speaker 1: a week or something, just to draw some interest. But
- 19:30Speaker 1: this is permanently at the Alamo, as if, as if
- 19:34Speaker 1: to say, pee Wee Herman's bike played a role in
- 19:37Speaker 1: the stand at the Alamo against Santa Ana and perhaps
- 19:41Speaker 1: was integral into into the Texas becoming an independent nation
- 19:48Speaker 1: from Mexico. Thank god for Peewee's bike. A cavalry of one.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I'm sorry, got little license plate says come and take it.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Just imagine Santa Anda's face during a parlay. And here
- 20:07Speaker 1: comes bee Wee Herman on this bike and the great
- 20:12Speaker 1: tuxedo and a red bow.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Tie platform shoes. Don't forget the platform.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Shoes, oh, of course, and then he starts saying that
- 20:20Speaker 1: he goes into into the tequila. Dais oh Man. I
- 20:26Speaker 1: cannot believe this is true. B Wee Herman's bike made
- 20:29Speaker 1: it all the way to the Alamo for real. The
- 20:32Speaker 1: original red bike from Peewee's Big Adventure was acquired by
- 20:35Speaker 1: the Alamo in celebration of the movie's fortieth anniversary. It'll
- 20:41Speaker 1: be permanently displayed in the future visitor Center and museum,
- 20:45Speaker 1: which opens in the fall of twenty twenty seven. But
- 20:49Speaker 1: for fans who don't want to wait not long, there
- 20:50Speaker 1: will be a limited time showing of it at the
- 20:54Speaker 1: Ralston Family Collection Center, which is also in San Antonio.
- 20:58Speaker 1: That'll be later this year. They're also hosting a free
- 21:01Speaker 1: movie screening. Details have not yet been announced on that
- 21:04Speaker 1: the official Alamo Instagram account set until then. Don't worry,
- 21:08Speaker 1: the bike will be stored for safe keeping, maybe in
- 21:12Speaker 1: the basement. With a photo of the bike right out
- 21:16Speaker 1: front of the Alamo.
- 21:17Speaker 2: I'm it is such a shame that Paul Rubins, comic genius,
- 21:25Speaker 2: did not get it. It's get justice while he was alive.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's very true. I mean, look, it's a
- 21:34Speaker 1: big deal that Peewee's bike is going to be permanently
- 21:37Speaker 1: displayed at the Alamo, especially considering that I'd much prefer that, Like,
- 21:44Speaker 1: that's way better than having his on display at an
- 21:48Speaker 1: adult theater.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, yeah, you know, or if you had brought
- 21:52Speaker 2: the theater seat over to the Alamo.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Here's the bike that started it all, and here's the
- 22:02Speaker 1: theater seat that brought it all to a crushing end.
- 22:07Speaker 2: But that's one of those crazy things that you think about. Uh,
- 22:11Speaker 2: and we made it was such a big deal at
- 22:13Speaker 2: the time, such a big deal, and now I think,
- 22:17Speaker 2: you know, it would still have been a big deal.
- 22:19Speaker 2: But I think it would have you know, it would
- 22:24Speaker 2: have come and gone in a week and uh and.
- 22:29Speaker 1: And maybe less like maybe in a matter of minutes.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I ever been like, yeah, okay, whatever, because.
- 22:36Speaker 1: When you think about it, you're right by today's standards,
- 22:38Speaker 1: that seems fairly teamed. So here you have. Let's so
- 22:41Speaker 1: let's to the best of my memory, this is what happened?
- 22:45Speaker 1: You had Peewee Herman that which is a character. By
- 22:48Speaker 1: the way, Paul Rubins, actor comedian, has a children's show
- 22:52Speaker 1: based on a character he came up with that was
- 22:54Speaker 1: originally based on a comedy routine he had on stage. Okay,
- 22:58Speaker 1: gets a TV show, Peewee's Playhouse. It's a kids show.
- 23:04Speaker 1: The man playing Peewee gets busted whacking it pun intended
- 23:09Speaker 1: at an adult theater. That's it. That's the story, and
- 23:15Speaker 1: and and and that that caused such a controversy. Show
- 23:17Speaker 1: gets canceled, his careers and tatters. When you really think
- 23:21Speaker 1: about it's like, that's really not that big of a
- 23:23Speaker 1: deal anymore at all, because the first thought is, well,
- 23:28Speaker 1: we're kids involved. Was this somehow you know, a child
- 23:31Speaker 1: porn going on? No, I mean still technically illegal. You're
- 23:36Speaker 1: not supposed to do that at the adult theater at least,
- 23:38Speaker 1: I guess, and the type of one he was at.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm very unfamiliar with those establishments, but uh,
- 23:45Speaker 1: I mean it was every I mean.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Do yeah, yeah, I mean there's just there's a lot
- 23:52Speaker 2: of things that we crucified people over. Hugh Grant's another one.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I mean he picked up a hooker. Okay, I mean
- 24:02Speaker 2: that was a scandal. I mean it was a Yeah,
- 24:05Speaker 2: it was such a scandal. People don't realize this. It
- 24:09Speaker 2: forever changed the late night ratings because it was after
- 24:12Speaker 2: that show that he went on Jay Leno that jay
- 24:15Speaker 2: Leno actually started beating Letterman.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and the and I think the big reason for
- 24:21Speaker 1: the controversy with with the Hugh Grant picking up the
- 24:25Speaker 1: hooker thing was because he was with Liz Hurley at
- 24:29Speaker 1: the time. So most of the controversy wasn't I can't
- 24:32Speaker 1: believe he would do that. It was mostly I can't
- 24:34Speaker 1: believe he would do that when he's got Elizabeth Hurley.
- 24:37Speaker 2: It's it was jay Leno's question, because what were you thinking?
- 24:40Speaker 2: You know, because if I remember correctly, she wasn't even
- 24:44Speaker 2: an attractive, really attractive hooker.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Most of them, most of them aren't. I don't care
- 24:50Speaker 1: because look, we're all we're all, uh, we've all ingested
- 24:54Speaker 1: the Hollywood lie. Most hookers on the Sunset Strip do
- 24:58Speaker 1: not look like Julia Roberts. They look like what Hugh
- 25:01Speaker 1: Grant picked up on the side of the road.
- 25:04Speaker 2: They look like you, Grant.
- 25:08Speaker 1: It might be better, Actually.

- 26:07Speaker 1: Air talking about Hugh Grant being busted for picking up
- 26:13Speaker 1: a hooker, which led to one of the all time
- 26:18Speaker 1: great mugshots in Hollywood history, especially because as if you,
- 26:25Speaker 1: because I can still see that mugshot, he's disheveled. You
- 26:29Speaker 1: can see the shame and embarrassment written all over his face.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Because when that photo was taken, he knew he wasn't
- 26:40Speaker 1: worried as much about the legal trouble. He knew that
- 26:44Speaker 1: there was about to be some serious blowback to his
- 26:47Speaker 1: career because of what had just transpired. And that, to
- 26:52Speaker 1: me is what makes it one of the all time
- 26:53Speaker 1: great mugshots, is because you can see all of that
- 26:57Speaker 1: oozing out of his skin compared to like, you know,
- 27:01Speaker 1: Nick Nolty and Ripped Torn who were just like with
- 27:04Speaker 1: their mugshot because they were high.
- 27:06Speaker 2: No, it's it's it's a British mugshot. I mean, there's
- 27:09Speaker 2: just there's just a tinge of of of shame that
- 27:12Speaker 2: they've they've let down the queen.
- 27:16Speaker 1: You're right, and it was it was just a fair
- 27:18Speaker 1: amount of white guilt. I don't think that had anything
- 27:22Speaker 1: to do with the fact that the hooker was also black,
- 27:24Speaker 1: but may have played a part.
- 27:25Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I don't know what his state of mind purely was
- 27:28Speaker 1: at that moment. But yeah, just remembering that mugshot thing,
- 27:32Speaker 1: it's like you could tell he's just like, oh no,
- 27:37Speaker 1: it's gonna be a tough one to live down, and.
- 27:40Speaker 2: You know it. It torpedoed his career for probably a
- 27:44Speaker 2: solid ten years.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Yeah, at least. And it's and again it goes back
- 27:48Speaker 1: to like like like with the pee wee Herman thing.
- 27:51Speaker 1: By comparison today, I don't think both those stories would
- 27:54Speaker 1: have been as big of a deal. Now. I still
- 27:56Speaker 1: think Hugh Grant still would have been a big deal,
- 27:59Speaker 1: but I don't I don't think it would have affected
- 28:01Speaker 1: his career as much.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Now, Paul Rubins that only the only thing that would
- 28:07Speaker 2: have made it a bigger deal was the fact that
- 28:09Speaker 2: he was doing a children show. But again, it was
- 28:12Speaker 2: a character. It wouldn't him. And yeah, I'm sure at
- 28:17Speaker 2: this point there have been worse.
- 28:20Speaker 1: And there was. I believe it was Fred Willard, actor
- 28:23Speaker 1: comedian who was arrested and accused alleged to have done
- 28:29Speaker 1: something very similar, but he didn't have the kids show
- 28:34Speaker 1: thing tied around his neck the way Pee Wee did,
- 28:36Speaker 1: and he denied the charges on it. I'm not even
- 28:38Speaker 1: sure what the disposition of his case ended up being,
- 28:43Speaker 1: but it was fine and never it didn't affect his
- 28:45Speaker 1: career at all.
- 28:48Speaker 7: Anyway.
- 28:49Speaker 1: It is Tuesday inside the Treehouse. That means it is
- 28:52Speaker 1: time for tree House Talk back, so let's get to it.
- 29:01Speaker 8: Yeah, this is for the episode where Dan talked about
- 29:05Speaker 8: getting a cockroach splinter?
- 29:07Speaker 2: Does that mean he's been pegged by cockroach?
- 29:09Speaker 7: Now?
- 29:12Speaker 2: Okay, piling on f you, Alex, well done, sir.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Yeah, when I When I heard that, I thought, Wow,
- 29:30Speaker 1: that is uh really good, and also thought, how did
- 29:35Speaker 1: Trey not think of that already?
- 29:37Speaker 2: That's what I'm just pondering.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I'm like, there's a little bit of shame on your part,
- 29:41Speaker 1: Like if I could take a photo of you and
- 29:43Speaker 1: put it side by side with you, Grant, they'd be
- 29:45Speaker 1: a little similar, Like, damn it, I missed a good one.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Well now you got that to uh put in your
- 29:51Speaker 1: quiver and I can never come back from that.
- 29:54Speaker 9: By the way, hey, Robert here, I don't know if
- 29:59Speaker 9: Dan remembers the story, but regarding Tre's incident on the
- 30:06Speaker 9: plane with the kid kicking the seat and Roger's story
- 30:08Speaker 9: about doing that in the movie theater several years ago,
- 30:12Speaker 9: I was a step grandfather and he was under two
- 30:16Speaker 9: years old, and we went into the mall looking for
- 30:19Speaker 9: his grandmother a Christmas president, and I told him there
- 30:21Speaker 9: would be no crap, and the incident we got in
- 30:25Speaker 9: the book store, he started fisiting and messing with the
- 30:27Speaker 9: books and everything, so our reach and popped him on
- 30:29Speaker 9: the butt and stood back up to a lady going,
- 30:32Speaker 9: I can't believe you would strike that child, And I
- 30:36Speaker 9: said yes, And I love him, and there is not
- 30:38Speaker 9: a damn thing in the universe I can be from
- 30:40Speaker 9: killing you.
- 30:43Speaker 1: So this is Robert for Pale's version of that escalated quickly.
- 30:50Speaker 9: Anyway, have a nast day.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I love how he's so cheery and sunny after the fact.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Anyway, it was like a Cliff Claven's evil twin.
- 31:04Speaker 9: And there is not a damn thing in the universe
- 31:06Speaker 9: I can be from killing you.
- 31:09Speaker 5: Anyway, have a nasty.
- 31:13Speaker 1: On one hand, I give Robert credit. I bet the
- 31:15Speaker 1: next time that woman tries to butt into somebody else's business,
- 31:19Speaker 1: she'll remember him and this incident and the threat upon
- 31:22Speaker 1: her life, and she'll think twice about, you know, saying something.
- 31:30Speaker 1: This also, by the way, feeds into a sort of
- 31:33Speaker 1: a train of thought or a theory. I'm not sure
- 31:35Speaker 1: exactly what it is yet, but it's the whole idea
- 31:40Speaker 1: that I have that not everyone lives according to your standards, right,
- 31:45Speaker 1: Not everyone lives according to your expectations. This is something
- 31:48Speaker 1: I've struggled with my entire adult life, and I've only
- 31:51Speaker 1: in recent years come to realize that I struggle with
- 31:55Speaker 1: expectations of others because I have high standards for myself
- 31:59Speaker 1: and I want others to have the same standards, and
- 32:01Speaker 1: it's just not going to happen. So I have to
- 32:05Speaker 1: kind of reconcile that. And some people think that other
- 32:09Speaker 1: people should live to their standards as well. And one
- 32:12Speaker 1: of the great stories I have about this is one
- 32:14Speaker 1: that happened in Farmer's Branch where a couple of teenagers
- 32:18Speaker 1: were trying to steal a third row seat out of
- 32:21Speaker 1: the back of an suv and the person who owned
- 32:28Speaker 1: that vehicle was a police officer. It was off duty,
- 32:32Speaker 1: heard the commotion, saw it, whatever, came out with a gun,
- 32:34Speaker 1: chased the kids down, ended up shooting and killing one
- 32:36Speaker 1: of them. The kids' families were like, I can't believe
- 32:40Speaker 1: he would do this, How dare he? Blah blah blah. Well,
- 32:43Speaker 1: this is a great example of he lived with a
- 32:45Speaker 1: different set of standards than those kids did. The kids
- 32:48Speaker 1: and their family thought that his use of deadly force
- 32:52Speaker 1: was wrong. I'm not saying that he was right. I'm
- 32:56Speaker 1: just saying that everyone in that scenario expected the other
- 32:59Speaker 1: people to act on the same level. Those kids are like, well,
- 33:01Speaker 1: we're not going to get shot for a third row seat.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Where's the officer. It's like, I'll shoot you for anything
- 33:07Speaker 1: that I own, Which is why I think you have
- 33:09Speaker 1: to be very careful if you decide you want to
- 33:11Speaker 1: do anything when it comes to wanting to break the
- 33:13Speaker 1: law or do anything like not minding your own business,
- 33:16Speaker 1: because you might be directing your energy at somebody that
- 33:20Speaker 1: might be on a different level than you, and it
- 33:21Speaker 1: may not be the level you want to spar with.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Yeah, in this day and age, I mean that is
- 33:28Speaker 2: at a certain point you are FAFO and when you
- 33:31Speaker 2: want to tell someone else how to live their life,
- 33:35Speaker 2: I I'd like to think I live my life by
- 33:39Speaker 2: a decent set of standards. I do not hold humanity
- 33:43Speaker 2: to that same principle because I that just leads to
- 33:46Speaker 2: countless disappointment.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Amen, brother, and.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Especially I mean you're talking about the whole crime thing.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Is that that seems to be one of the evolving
- 33:58Speaker 2: things in crime. There was a story out of Georgia
- 34:01Speaker 2: where these three kids broke into this house, or they
- 34:06Speaker 2: were trying to break into this house. It's like four
- 34:07Speaker 2: in the morning. They're all wearing masks, they are kicking
- 34:10Speaker 2: the door and then fire a gun shot through the door. Well,
- 34:14Speaker 2: lo and behold the person on the other side of
- 34:16Speaker 2: that door has a gun and he shoots back and
- 34:22Speaker 2: it can kills all three. But you know, one died
- 34:25Speaker 2: on the lawn. I think two died at the hospital.
- 34:27Speaker 2: And the parents of the boys were trying to sue him,
- 34:32Speaker 2: claiming that, you know, he shouldn't have taken their live,
- 34:36Speaker 2: he should have just let them. Basically, he should have
- 34:38Speaker 2: just let them do whatever they were going to do.
- 34:39Speaker 1: It's like, no, man, that's not how this works.
- 34:42Speaker 2: And especially it's like one of the things I love
- 34:48Speaker 2: about Texas is you don't you see these videos that
- 34:51Speaker 2: are happening all over the country at other stores and
- 34:53Speaker 2: everything else where. These kids just come in and start
- 34:56Speaker 2: breaking and robbing things. You the beauty of Texas. And
- 35:01Speaker 2: I have some problems with our gun laws. I don't
- 35:03Speaker 2: know that everyone needs to carry and without any training.
- 35:06Speaker 2: But the one thing is, you go and screw around
- 35:10Speaker 2: in any place in Texas you're playing, you are playing
- 35:15Speaker 2: Russian Roulette, because chances are at least one other person
- 35:19Speaker 2: has a gun in there and you very well might
- 35:21Speaker 2: get shot.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and they should actually rename it to Texas Roulette.
- 35:25Speaker 2: And that's it.
- 35:33Speaker 7: You're in the treehouse.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Visit is online, a treehouse on air dot com.

- 36:27Speaker 1: just search the Treehouse Show podcast on YouTube. This is Tuesday,
- 36:31Speaker 1: July twenty second, twenty twenty five. It is time to
- 36:35Speaker 1: celebrate inside the Treehouse with some birthdays. I'm always uncertain
- 36:43Speaker 1: if I get her city of origin correct, but I'll
- 36:47Speaker 1: just go broad North, Texas's own Selena Gomez turns thirty three.
- 36:52Speaker 1: I think she's from Grand Prairie. I think I guess
- 36:57Speaker 1: we could ask our buddy Billy the kid he knows her,
- 36:59Speaker 1: but Sea Gomez, North Texas's own Selena Gomez turns thirty
- 37:02Speaker 1: three today. Other birthdays, Reese Ifens is fifty eight. Oh,
- 37:08Speaker 1: this is good. So this is another example of birthdays
- 37:11Speaker 1: popping up to tie back in a previous topic on
- 37:17Speaker 1: the show. So actor Reese Ifens is fifty eight today.
- 37:23Speaker 7: He is.
- 37:26Speaker 1: In the movie Nodding Hill, which starred Hugh Grant and
- 37:31Speaker 1: Julia Roberts. That's the one where Hugh Grant's just this
- 37:33Speaker 1: normal English guy and Julia Roberts plays an American movie star.
- 37:37Speaker 1: They meet and fall in love. Reese Ifens is Hugh
- 37:41Speaker 1: Grant's blonde, disgusting roommate. He also happens to be the
- 37:46Speaker 1: amazing wirity kicker in the in the football classic The
- 37:50Speaker 1: Replacements with Keanu Reeves. But it's just fitting his it's
- 37:54Speaker 1: he comes up in Birthdays today after we've talked about
- 37:56Speaker 1: Hugh Grant at Fairmount. I love this act. I think
- 38:00Speaker 1: he's great, and it also gives me a chance to
- 38:03Speaker 1: extol the virtues of one of the great sports movies
- 38:06Speaker 1: of all time, The Replacements.
- 38:07Speaker 7: Gotta love that movie.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Not huh, you don't. It's not no, Trey, No, do
- 38:16Speaker 1: you love anything?
- 38:18Speaker 2: I love a lot of things. The Replacements is not
- 38:22Speaker 2: one of them.
- 38:22Speaker 7: I know.
- 38:25Speaker 1: The Replacements is one of the all time great stop
- 38:27Speaker 1: down movies, especially sports stop down movies. Stop down meaning
- 38:31Speaker 1: if you're scrolling through the TV and you see it's on,
- 38:33Speaker 1: you stop, like, yeah, I'll just watch that. No, oh god, Trey.
- 38:41Speaker 10: It's got everything that former football players love. It's action,
- 38:45Speaker 10: it's comedy, it's an in shape Jon Favreau. It was
- 38:53Speaker 10: like like Peek Atkins diet Jon Favreau playing the middle linebacker. Yeah,
- 39:00Speaker 10: it's Gene Ackman Reeves, you know what you know it
- 39:04Speaker 10: playing quarterback. Uh in this film that he actually got
- 39:08Speaker 10: an invite from the Baltimore Ravens for training.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Camp when they had Trent Dilfer.
- 39:14Speaker 1: It still counts, Trey.
- 39:17Speaker 2: This is where your this is where your cowboy fandom is.
- 39:20Speaker 2: You know, you're so used to mediocre that that you'll
- 39:23Speaker 2: you'll take you know, you'll take it.
- 39:25Speaker 1: I'll take some Johnny Utah. You know what, I swear
- 39:27Speaker 1: to God right now, if Dak Prescott's in front of
- 39:29Speaker 1: me at training camp at Oxnard, which I think starts
- 39:32Speaker 1: this week, and Keanu Reeves as Johnny Utah. Oh wait,
- 39:36Speaker 1: that's that point break, that's point break. You know I'll
- 39:39Speaker 1: still I'll still give Keanu a look.
- 39:42Speaker 2: I I you know, yeah, absolutely, I'd give John Wick
- 39:48Speaker 2: a look, even at.
- 39:50Speaker 1: His age, even even with one less finger. Yeah, especially
- 39:55Speaker 1: if he can bring a dog. Who's your slot receiver,
- 40:01Speaker 1: Belgian Malinoa, Holy crap.
- 40:04Speaker 2: We know he's got better aim.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Yeah, we do not have John Wick as our quarterback.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Now out of the stands, visit us online at Treehouse
- 40:23Speaker 3: on Air dot com. Visit us online a Treehouse on
- 40:40Speaker 3: Air dot com.
- 40:44Speaker 1: It is time to advertise here inside the Treehouse. Sponsorship
- 40:47Speaker 1: opportunities are available if you're interested. Just shoot us an
- 40:50Speaker 1: email Treehouse on Air at gmail dot com. That's Treehouse
- 40:55Speaker 1: on Air at gmail dot com. To advertise right here
- 40:58Speaker 1: inside the Treehouse. I need to pick apart this bone
- 41:02Speaker 1: a little bit more on Trey about not liking the replacements,
- 41:05Speaker 1: but we have one more Treehouse talkback to do before
- 41:09Speaker 1: we get to the replacements. Beef.
- 41:14Speaker 8: Hey, guys, JC here, I'm just wondering if this is.
- 41:18Speaker 7: More for raj.
- 41:19Speaker 8: I guess if y'all guys want to produce it, I
- 41:22Speaker 8: think it'd be great. Has Roger ever thought about making
- 41:24Speaker 8: a show about growing up Indian in Mesquite? I mean,
- 41:30Speaker 8: I'm just thinking or has that been done too much?
- 41:33Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 41:34Speaker 8: I was just thinking it'd be a good idea anyway,
- 41:37Speaker 8: all right, guys, catch all later.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Thanks for listening.
- 41:40Speaker 1: And of course, yes, Trey, I mainly included that message
- 41:50Speaker 1: from JC because of the ending, but he does bring
- 41:54Speaker 1: up an interesting point. I think Raj has talked about
- 41:57Speaker 1: that before. But there's actually this is not definitely a
- 42:00Speaker 1: unique idea. That's this is not a unique thing for
- 42:05Speaker 1: just Raj. There are a number of Indian kids growing
- 42:09Speaker 1: up in weird spots in Texas. It's the whole fish
- 42:12Speaker 1: out of water story. I think there was actually a
- 42:13Speaker 1: show on ABC called Fresh off the Boat, but I
- 42:16Speaker 1: think that was I don't know if it was Korean
- 42:20Speaker 1: or Chinese or what. So that show's kind of been done,
- 42:24Speaker 1: but I mean, you can always do more. There was
- 42:28Speaker 1: another one. There's a show that's currently in development that's
- 42:34Speaker 1: very similar to the premise that JC just mentioned that's
- 42:36Speaker 1: very similar to Raj growing up in Mesquite as an
- 42:40Speaker 1: Indian kid of immigrants, and we know him as a
- 42:44Speaker 1: guy's name is Jane Andiam. He was a comedian, got
- 42:46Speaker 1: to start in Dallas. He's now moved on to La
- 42:49Speaker 1: and everything. And I believe he's got a show very
- 42:52Speaker 1: similar to that that's in production, that's supposed to be
- 42:56Speaker 1: coming out or being released at some point in the
- 42:59Speaker 1: near future. What's that look on your face, Tray?
- 43:05Speaker 2: Oh, I just sent it to you. Oh no, give
- 43:13Speaker 2: me a title of the show. Wow.
- 43:21Speaker 1: I'm not sure if I feel comfortable saying that. I'm
- 43:25Speaker 1: not even sure if Raj should say that, it would
- 43:36Speaker 1: shine a new light on the Red Bird area and
- 43:43Speaker 1: it would certainly turn some heads. Uh huh. I really
- 43:50Speaker 1: don't want to say anything more on that particular subject,
- 43:56Speaker 1: but I'm real tempted. I really don't see ABC embracing
- 44:05Speaker 1: the title of a show about an Indian kid growing
- 44:09Speaker 1: up in Mesquite, Texas as Redbird or Red Dot.
- 44:18Speaker 2: It's like a game show. It sounds like, you know, mm.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Hmm, Yeah, that's true. That's true. Oh maybe that would
- 44:24Speaker 1: be something that rog goodess, Well, he could be the
- 44:26Speaker 1: host the Red Bird area of Dallas. Let's get back
- 44:35Speaker 1: to you not liking the replacements. You're working on more,
- 44:42Speaker 1: aren't you.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll think of it in a second.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Okay, yes, The Replacements. Thank you for steering me back
- 44:54Speaker 1: on track. The Replacements one of the all time great
- 44:56Speaker 1: sports movies. And you don't like it. I realize it's
- 45:01Speaker 1: it's not not the it's not based on a true
- 45:05Speaker 1: story like Rudy. It's not you know, the cinematic masterpiece
- 45:10Speaker 1: that is Prefunda with the running and everything, Chariots Fire,
- 45:16Speaker 1: Chariots a Fire, Brian Song. I mean there's all these,
- 45:19Speaker 1: you know, classic sports movies, emotional Field of Dreams, Field
- 45:24Speaker 1: of Dreams. The Replacements is on that set Bullderm. Yeah,
- 45:27Speaker 1: it's like The Replacements is kind of on that same
- 45:30Speaker 1: level as Major League.
- 45:31Speaker 2: You know.
- 45:32Speaker 1: It's just a fun, really good sports movies. No, not
- 45:34Speaker 1: even that. I love The Replacements, you know.
- 45:40Speaker 2: I admittedly it was back in my drinking days, and
- 45:46Speaker 2: I maybe I should give it another watch, but I
- 45:49Speaker 2: I equated it much more like North Dallas forty just
- 45:52Speaker 2: just a really just abysmal movie. Maybe.
- 45:57Speaker 7: So.
- 45:57Speaker 1: The Replacements came out in the year two thousand. It's
- 46:00Speaker 1: late in the season, the playoffs are fast approaching, and
- 46:03Speaker 1: the Washington Sentinels have just gone on strike. The entire
- 46:05Speaker 1: league did Scrambling for a solution, the Sentinels owner Edward
- 46:09Speaker 1: O'Neill hatches a plan to bring in legendary coach Jimmy McGinty,
- 46:12Speaker 1: laid by Gene Hackman rip to recruit a team of
- 46:15Speaker 1: replacement players in exactly one week for fans and owners
- 46:19Speaker 1: alike to strike as a disaster. But for Shane Falco,
- 46:22Speaker 1: Keanu Reeves and a mismatched crew of outsiders, it's the
- 46:25Speaker 1: second chance they've waited for their whole lives. This is
- 46:30Speaker 1: an interesting rating that the replacement has on IMDb six
- 46:36Speaker 1: point six out of ten Rotten Tomatoes is a forty
- 46:39Speaker 1: one percent, but according to Just Watch, ninety two percent.
- 46:47Speaker 7: M hm.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Also, it's one of the all time great character names.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Shane Falco.
- 46:56Speaker 2: You know there was a time in my life where
- 46:57Speaker 2: I said Gene Hackman didn't make bad movies. But then
- 47:00Speaker 2: the replacements came along and.
- 47:02Speaker 1: The man had a mortgage. Actors have mortgages too, sometimes,
- 47:12Speaker 1: do we all. It's not like you hit it up
- 47:19Speaker 1: like dirt Diggler. Don't just don't see I see your
- 47:27Speaker 1: I see your hamster running in that wheel. For all
