- 0:13Speaker 1: Hey, guys, welcome to another episode of Eating While Broke.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm your host, Colleen Witt, and today we have very
- 0:18Speaker 1: special guest. Grammy Award winning producer sold over fifty million records, is.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Probably over records.
- 0:30Speaker 1: So rock Star producer rock Star is in the building.
- 0:34Speaker 3: What's up?
- 0:36Speaker 1: And self made? Self made, self made, self made to
- 0:40Speaker 1: the max, to the max slept on floors. I've heard,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I've heard the rumors. I'm so excited to have you
- 0:46Speaker 1: in the building. And you're gonna have to feed me,
- 0:51Speaker 1: of course, so what do you what are you gonna
- 0:53Speaker 1: feed me?
- 0:55Speaker 3: We're doing well my broke dish. Really this should be
- 0:58Speaker 3: Eating while uh broke as hell if you want to
- 1:02Speaker 3: add that as hell, because I was the ass hell part.
- 1:05Speaker 3: It's unbelievable. But right now, this dish ray here is
- 1:09Speaker 3: called ghetto cast role and it was the chicken top
- 1:14Speaker 3: ramen mixed in with a turkey burger burger that I
- 1:17Speaker 3: seasoned up, chopped up, put into the situation, mixed up
- 1:21Speaker 3: and just changed the world with that guy me I'm
- 1:23Speaker 3: talking about that had me full for you know, I'm
- 1:25Speaker 3: talking about the whole day that pretty much was it
- 1:28Speaker 3: to the point where people just started requesting, let me
- 1:31Speaker 3: get some ghetto.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Okay, oh you really named it that. That was like
- 1:34Speaker 1: the coin name that you gave it back. I've never
- 1:39Speaker 1: had ghetto cast role. I'm very I'm a hater of
- 1:42Speaker 1: Ramen because we've taped over one hundred and twenty episodes
- 1:45Speaker 1: and everybody, and I say even people be like I
- 1:49Speaker 1: thought she hated ram I'm like, I can only block
- 1:51Speaker 1: Ramen so much in a broke show.
- 1:54Speaker 3: You know, it's crazy.
- 1:56Speaker 1: But when I see a Ramen with a flair, I
- 1:59Speaker 1: really believe that the individual was probably, like you said,
- 2:01Speaker 1: broke as hell. Yeah, you know, you had it so
- 2:03Speaker 1: many times that you had to up it. Go ahead,
- 2:07Speaker 1: start off popping it off. And while you're in this
- 2:12Speaker 1: kitchen cooking, I want you to take me back to
- 2:16Speaker 1: what was going on when you was broke as hell?
- 2:19Speaker 3: Okay, well, I mean there's just so many years of
- 2:25Speaker 3: being broke as hell. Like, which part of being broke
- 2:28Speaker 3: as hell did you want to have the conversation about,
- 2:31Speaker 3: because you know, I mean, I come from absolutely nothing,
- 2:35Speaker 3: so I was broke as hell the whole time.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Where are you from originally?
- 2:42Speaker 3: So I'm from like Los Angeles of course. So California.
- 2:47Speaker 3: But I've lived all over South Central, all over Inglewood,
- 2:54Speaker 3: all the trash this I'm like, yeah, but first you
- 3:00Speaker 3: gotta like you gotta. If you don't do that, it
- 3:02Speaker 3: don't even taste the same. But we're gonna put that
- 3:05Speaker 3: over there, because that's what that's gonna be at. I
- 3:08Speaker 3: lived all over South Central, Inglewood and all over LA
- 3:12Speaker 3: everywhere in La all you know what I mean, and
- 3:14Speaker 3: then also all over the valley too, you know what
- 3:17Speaker 3: I mean. So yeah, yeah until that. My parents were
- 3:23Speaker 3: married until I was about twelve and then they split.
- 3:27Speaker 3: So right when I turned into a teenager and started
- 3:28Speaker 3: going outside, it was yeah, I was dolo, okay.
- 3:33Speaker 2: And then did you also always know you were going
- 3:35Speaker 2: to get into music?
- 3:37Speaker 3: You know?
- 3:39Speaker 2: Nah?
- 3:39Speaker 3: Not really. I thought I was going to be an actor,
- 3:42Speaker 3: which I ended up being on love and hip hop
- 3:44Speaker 3: and different stuff. It's kind of a version of acting.
- 3:46Speaker 3: But I started off, you know, coming out, you know,
- 3:51Speaker 3: and like my my, my mom put me into acting
- 3:56Speaker 3: and I was the stand up comedy champion at Lave
- 3:59Speaker 3: Factory for like three years with Jamie Massada. So Jamie Masada,
- 4:04Speaker 3: which was the left he put me in and I
- 4:07Speaker 3: was young, but I was so good that him, Paul
- 4:11Speaker 3: Rodriguez and all of them put me into the adult
- 4:14Speaker 3: camp and I was like ten, so ten eleven, twelve,
- 4:21Speaker 3: ten eleven, twelve, and like yeah, the beginning of thirteen,
- 4:25Speaker 3: I was, I was, I was doing the stand up comedy. Okay,
- 4:29Speaker 3: he as a kid, and then that got me into
- 4:31Speaker 3: like some national commercials and a couple of tea Like
- 4:35Speaker 3: I start figuring out, like dang, what's a Coogan account?
- 4:38Speaker 3: And obviously being broke as hell. My parents were also
- 4:42Speaker 3: broke as hell, so that Cougan account got cooganed, that
- 4:46Speaker 3: got cooked.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I thought that all that money was supposed to protect it.
- 4:49Speaker 2: It is supposed to.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't work because my dad had the same
- 4:52Speaker 3: name as me, so he just absolutely mangled wopped my account.
- 4:56Speaker 3: By time, whatever I had built was whenever I had built,
- 4:59Speaker 3: it was saram bag. So I did all that work,
- 5:02Speaker 3: but it was still a good experience, you know what
- 5:03Speaker 3: I mean. So, yeah, there's a rap.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yeah it was it a shocker that you lost the
- 5:11Speaker 2: money or did you kind of know it was going
- 5:12Speaker 2: to disappear?
- 5:13Speaker 3: Well? I know, I knew. I knew that I came
- 5:16Speaker 3: from the type of appearance like I know what it was.
- 5:19Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. You know, when you grow
- 5:21Speaker 3: up and you like, I'm probably not go never see
- 5:23Speaker 3: this money. By the time I get to this money, now,
- 5:25Speaker 3: I was hustling. I was already out in the streets
- 5:27Speaker 3: hustling young. So like even when I was done out
- 5:30Speaker 3: and I just was out there hustling dolo to the
- 5:33Speaker 3: point where by the time I was like fourteen fifteen,
- 5:36Speaker 3: I was like making so much money just doing different
- 5:41Speaker 3: whatever I was doing. And then I was giving my
- 5:44Speaker 3: mom money, and like they were separate. So I get
- 5:47Speaker 3: my mom here, take some bands, and she like, how
- 5:49Speaker 3: you got bands in you? Fourteen? And I'm handing her money.
- 5:53Speaker 3: So I was like it was a little weird because
- 5:57Speaker 3: I always was a hustler. I get straight to it. However,
- 6:00Speaker 3: it go like ever since I was young, I was
- 6:02Speaker 3: selling candy or selling this. You know, I go to
- 6:05Speaker 3: ninety nine cent stores, go home, go to the school,
- 6:08Speaker 3: sell sugar, Daddy, sell the sell that. So I was
- 6:10Speaker 3: always doing something. I was always hustling. I'm the hustler,
- 6:13Speaker 3: Like you come get me when it's time to hustle.
- 6:15Speaker 3: We don't figure it out. Thus, years later, obviously multiple companies,
- 6:20Speaker 3: and but but it came from you know, absolutely nothing.
- 6:25Speaker 3: So but for like I I was doing good on
- 6:27Speaker 3: the hustle, and then I started getting kicked out of
- 6:29Speaker 3: the schools that I was hustling in, so then my
- 6:32Speaker 3: money started dropping back down. Whatever, And there I was,
- 6:39Speaker 3: I was, I was. I was cooking the ninety nine
- 6:41Speaker 3: cent store. However that was happening different situations, said I
- 6:45Speaker 3: was just going viral when be in here just saying
- 6:47Speaker 3: I was doing anything. But we was doing all kinds
- 6:50Speaker 3: of stuff. Then I get the bread, I get the
- 6:53Speaker 3: can't do whatever situation was, and then we'd go run
- 6:56Speaker 3: it up, run it up, run it up. However that happened,
- 6:59Speaker 3: and then and I'd be selling it. It to be all profits,
- 7:02Speaker 3: so I'd be making like one hundred something a day.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Then I started baking. I'm like, damn, when I'm thinking
- 7:06Speaker 3: about all the things I'm talking about hustling, this shit
- 7:10Speaker 3: kind of self incriminated. When I started thinking about all
- 7:12Speaker 3: this stuff I was doing, liked, am I supposed to
- 7:15Speaker 3: break that down? Just know I was, because I was,
- 7:18Speaker 3: I'm like, damgn. I started. I'm like, by the time
- 7:21Speaker 3: I'm done, y'all be like dangn We should probably cut
- 7:23Speaker 3: that out because I was doing all kinds of I
- 7:26Speaker 3: was hustling, I was running plays, I was in licks.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I was doing all kinds of stuff. And we don't
- 7:31Speaker 3: want to go through all that. Don't even tell me aboutself,
- 7:33Speaker 3: but I was. It was It was unusual. When I
- 7:37Speaker 3: got sixteen, I was out the house, like my mom.
- 7:41Speaker 3: They just I was moving around so much. They was like,
- 7:43Speaker 3: you want to be grown. Shit hit the streets. So
- 7:46Speaker 3: I was sleeping in the car. I bought it myself
- 7:48Speaker 3: a car, started sleeping in a car. Like sixteen, I
- 7:51Speaker 3: was hustling nobody. My mom and them didn't even know
- 7:54Speaker 3: I had any talent besides the you know accomy. Yeah,
- 7:58Speaker 3: because my sister, she was a singer and she like
- 8:00Speaker 3: the first American idol, and so she they was on
- 8:03Speaker 3: whatever she was on. I was just in the cut.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Like I mean, obviously the way I look, I might
- 8:07Speaker 3: have cut have been a supermodel or something. But if
- 8:10Speaker 3: they wasn't thinking about that, it was like.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Whatever the hell, Like your parents attention switched to her beause.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Oh it's been I switched. It was always her. Yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 3: she was always like the one and then she's super dope.
- 8:22Speaker 3: That's my like that, that's my heart. She was always
- 8:25Speaker 3: like just super anointed singing wise, and so she always
- 8:30Speaker 3: had opportunities and different things going on. And yeah, I
- 8:34Speaker 3: just so should I start cooking? Oh yeah, you gotta
- 8:38Speaker 3: dump that in. But then we gotta get the season
- 8:40Speaker 3: and so anyway you gotta throw a little season and
- 8:43Speaker 3: so on there, because it ain't never been a black
- 8:45Speaker 3: dish without seasoning.
- 8:46Speaker 2: No, no, I'm about to.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Say, what is this we're talking about? Oh but what
- 9:00Speaker 3: was I saying?
- 9:00Speaker 2: You were talking about your sister was annoyed?
- 9:03Speaker 1: Oh?
- 9:03Speaker 3: Yeah, she was doing her thing right. She was, she
- 9:05Speaker 3: was winning, She had like she she was doing a
- 9:09Speaker 3: lot of she was doing amazing. She was winning. She
- 9:12Speaker 3: won like, I think of three hundred thousand dollars on
- 9:14Speaker 3: one show. And she's like her voice's next level, always been.
- 9:19Speaker 3: And so they just was kind of on whatever she
- 9:22Speaker 3: was on.
- 9:24Speaker 2: And it was just the two of y'all. As far
- 9:26Speaker 2: as family, I got four four siblings.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's yeah, yeah, that's the gang. But yeah,
- 9:34Speaker 3: you know they ain't. Nobody thought I was doing They
- 9:36Speaker 3: thought I was the fuck up. They like this nigga
- 9:38Speaker 3: is failing every class you know what I'm saying. They
- 9:41Speaker 3: like outside in the streets, he just they just knocked
- 9:44Speaker 3: this nigga out. He just went to jail. And then
- 9:47Speaker 3: we heard these industry it's all kind of shit. I'm
- 9:49Speaker 3: doing all kind of stuff when I was younger, so
- 9:52Speaker 3: they like, dang, they like he he ain't dot. So
- 9:56Speaker 3: nobody had faith in me. But you know, you know,
- 10:00Speaker 3: I was kind of like always very good or a
- 10:03Speaker 3: master at whatever it was I did. So, like the
- 10:07Speaker 3: crump movement was heavy, so we were like the pioneers.
- 10:12Speaker 3: I was like the main one of the main people
- 10:15Speaker 3: out here who was in the mix like and kind
- 10:18Speaker 3: of created that frequency. So I was like we were dancing,
- 10:23Speaker 3: and dancing got me in a lot of different rooms too,
- 10:25Speaker 3: just because I was always so good like flipping, tumbling,
- 10:28Speaker 3: everything that just was super vicious at dancing. So you know,
- 10:32Speaker 3: coming from Tommy to Clown into the crump movement and
- 10:34Speaker 3: then it being you know, that's when b too, that's
- 10:37Speaker 3: when like you got served in that type of stuff.
- 10:41Speaker 3: It was just the biggest thing on earth to know
- 10:43Speaker 3: how to crump, to know how to so I was
- 10:45Speaker 3: like in the front of that. So when I was
- 10:47Speaker 3: out in the streets, Da Dad, I'd be doing that.
- 10:49Speaker 3: I'll be doing smack DVD rat battles. That was another thing.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Like my bar game was always crazy. You know what
- 10:55Speaker 3: I'm saying. I was smack DVD rat battles. I was
- 10:57Speaker 3: running around with like Shug and them type of people
- 11:00Speaker 3: early when I was fifteen, you know what I mean.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Run He had me battling it. I was in the
- 11:04Speaker 3: mix early, super early. And then you know, I just
- 11:09Speaker 3: start honing in on everything and I just took it
- 11:12Speaker 3: to the next level. I don't know it started there.
- 11:14Speaker 3: And then one thing I've always done is been real
- 11:17Speaker 3: tapped in with God, like he saved me. I think
- 11:20Speaker 3: that's because I would have got mangled to a bunch
- 11:23Speaker 3: of them times. But He saved me so many times
- 11:26Speaker 3: just with I felt a lot of grace and favor
- 11:28Speaker 3: and situations because the people around me was getting molly wopped.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I'm talking about I'm telling you they was getting molly wopped.
- 11:37Speaker 2: So you're so sixteen seventeen. So you're sixteen seventeen.
- 11:43Speaker 1: What is going on in the So you're doing the dancing.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You went from comedy slash hustling to dancing.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Yeah. I was always dancing even when I was a kid.
- 11:54Speaker 2: There and you're still struggling. You're still like homeless, kind
- 11:57Speaker 2: of sleeping in.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Cars, yep, messed up, yep, running the doing a whole
- 12:00Speaker 3: bunch of nothing, going from couch to couch to car.
- 12:04Speaker 3: And then my car broke down on me one night,
- 12:07Speaker 3: actually because I was trying to stay warm. I was
- 12:09Speaker 3: sleeping the car and I was trying to you know,
- 12:11Speaker 3: when you be sleeping the car and then you're like, damn,
- 12:13Speaker 3: it's a cold ass night. You try and hit the
- 12:16Speaker 3: gas to like, I was so sleepy from whatever it
- 12:19Speaker 3: was I was doing that I had fell asleep up
- 12:21Speaker 3: under this little thing and I had hit the gas
- 12:24Speaker 3: and I was trying to warm up the car, and
- 12:26Speaker 3: I fell asleep with the car with my foot on
- 12:29Speaker 3: the gas, and I woke up in exhaust, like the
- 12:33Speaker 3: whole car was in exhaust fumes, and the engine was
- 12:36Speaker 3: just rocking left and right. Whoa, and I'm like dang,
- 12:39Speaker 3: and somebody hit my window like boom boom, like yo,
- 12:42Speaker 3: get out the car, bro get out the car, and
- 12:45Speaker 3: so I jumped out. He like, bro, you just stayed
- 12:46Speaker 3: in that car. You was gonna die. The car was
- 12:48Speaker 3: going to explode. Are you crazy? Like what do you
- 12:50Speaker 3: got going up? And so that was a moment where
- 12:53Speaker 3: I ended up having to, you know, like call my
- 12:56Speaker 3: I think I called my dad and he lived in
- 12:58Speaker 3: San Diego the time, and I was like, yo, like,
- 13:03Speaker 3: I know, I know, y'all ain't the ones. You know
- 13:06Speaker 3: what I'm saying. I know I don't mess with y'all
- 13:08Speaker 3: on this, that and the third like that, But I'm
- 13:10Speaker 3: gonna have to It's either that or I'm gonna app
- 13:14Speaker 3: I'm gonna like, I'm out the car now, so I'm
- 13:16Speaker 3: gonna be on the street. So it's either that or
- 13:18Speaker 3: I'm gonna be I'm about to have to go. I'm
- 13:20Speaker 3: about to have to go level up like I was going.
- 13:23Speaker 3: It was gonna turn into something else. I was gonna
- 13:25Speaker 3: it was gonna go from the car to a next level.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I was gonna go to the next level ship. So
- 13:32Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm just telling you, like early why this
- 13:35Speaker 3: is gonna be. So he was like all right, man
- 13:37Speaker 3: like man like, my my wife is this and it's
- 13:41Speaker 3: just come whatever. And then I went to San Diego.
- 13:44Speaker 3: And from when I got to San Diego, I stayed
- 13:47Speaker 3: there for a little bit like six months and then
- 13:52Speaker 3: I was like, yo, let's get back to it. So
- 13:53Speaker 3: I went back to it. But you know, I skipped
- 13:55Speaker 3: you know who I skipped. When I was in high school,
- 13:58Speaker 3: I used to stay on my boy, Ruben Cannon's couch,
- 14:02Speaker 3: which is Nick Cannon's younger brother, and so I had
- 14:06Speaker 3: that was my best friend, Ruben and his brother Nick Cannon,
- 14:09Speaker 3: and so he was getting all that. Like Nick would
- 14:12Speaker 3: just put them up because they came. And so they
- 14:16Speaker 3: had little apartment in the middle of Hollywood was run down,
- 14:19Speaker 3: but all of us, it was like seven of us
- 14:20Speaker 3: in one bedroom. It was all in there. But Ruben
- 14:23Speaker 3: really looked out for me when I was younger too,
- 14:25Speaker 3: like just he was a solid. That was one of
- 14:27Speaker 3: my solid hummies. But Ruben Cannon, Ruben Cannon is one
- 14:32Speaker 3: of the ones I can't. I don't know about everybody else,
- 14:35Speaker 3: but Ruben that's.
- 14:36Speaker 2: One of the ones. But yeah, one of my favorites
- 14:39Speaker 2: by the way, personally, Yeah.
- 14:40Speaker 3: He's the one that's my brother, like for him different.
- 14:43Speaker 3: So like you know, I always like super appreciated when
- 14:46Speaker 3: anybody did anything for me, because nobody did nothing for me.
- 14:49Speaker 3: So we can, you know, let me go and you
- 14:53Speaker 3: gotta get to it. I don't know if y'all can
- 14:55Speaker 3: see this, but you gotta throw that on there. It
- 14:57Speaker 3: ain't even you gotta get it well because that's where
- 15:01Speaker 3: the flavors start acting different, because you know, when you
- 15:04Speaker 3: get to cooking stuff, it be I'm just telling you
- 15:05Speaker 3: how my ghetto care thro I was doing something else.
- 15:08Speaker 3: It was a different conversation. What was what was we
- 15:11Speaker 3: said you.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Was talking about before you ended up in San Diego.
- 15:15Speaker 1: You was staying with Reuben.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Yeah, all was staying with Ruby Yep, yep, yep as
- 15:19Speaker 3: a young and I was. I was messed up early.
- 15:21Speaker 3: So he was looking at when I was like fourteen.
- 15:24Speaker 2: How did y'all know each other? You guys? Wood? Okay?
- 15:27Speaker 3: Yeah, Hollywood High and so you know, I went to
- 15:30Speaker 3: performing arts schools because my mom and them. That's one
- 15:34Speaker 3: thing I could be thankful for my mom and then
- 15:36Speaker 3: put me in performing arts schools, which opened me up
- 15:39Speaker 3: to plays, musicals, choir classes. So like most niggas in
- 15:45Speaker 3: the hoods going to school revelopment, they choir class was
- 15:48Speaker 3: a fade in the bathroom. My my, I'm just saying
- 15:51Speaker 3: like that's where niggas day was you going to door.
- 15:54Speaker 3: See you going to Chris, Are you going to you
- 15:55Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, different joints. I was like the Hamilton's,
- 15:58Speaker 3: the Hollywoods. It was still wicked. We'd be getting it.
- 16:01Speaker 3: It'd be riots and aughty, we'd be getting in this.
- 16:04Speaker 3: But at the same time, I was like, it was
- 16:07Speaker 3: weird because you be in choir class with other gang
- 16:11Speaker 3: members and others, you know, and we in quire classes
- 16:14Speaker 3: quare clabs, but we really creating food blown everything, Like
- 16:18Speaker 3: it's crazy because creation is creation for what you chose
- 16:22Speaker 3: to do. If you're a creator and you next level,
- 16:24Speaker 3: then you're gonna create on that level. So and we're
- 16:27Speaker 3: always in competition.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So so when you're in these classes with other gang
- 16:31Speaker 1: members or rival gangs. Everybody was getting along during choir
- 16:35Speaker 1: and all that.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean because in school, it's like it's school,
- 16:38Speaker 3: you know what I mean. You get into situations and
- 16:41Speaker 3: you know, back then it was kind of like there
- 16:43Speaker 3: was a green light on the Blacks from the eighteens
- 16:46Speaker 3: at the time, so it was all kind of stuff
- 16:48Speaker 3: going on. So we kind of was sticking together and
- 16:50Speaker 3: everybody was just in the mix. It was because it
- 16:52Speaker 3: was all kind of it was that's a long story,
- 16:54Speaker 3: but anyway, you know, it was it was a lot.
- 16:57Speaker 3: It was a lot going on. It was a lot
- 16:59Speaker 3: of war work, but in terms of school, like dance,
- 17:02Speaker 3: like choir, like different things that we was doing. Yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 3: that was that was. Yeah, we was. We was in
- 17:08Speaker 3: there going viral. Okay, yeah, we was in that going viral.
- 17:11Speaker 3: I'm gonna we almost done with this. Ain't gonna lie Okay,
- 17:14Speaker 3: they ain't never done.
- 17:15Speaker 2: That's good because I'm hungry.
- 17:17Speaker 3: No, it's actually crazy.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Now you come back from San Diego. Yep, fast tracking
- 17:24Speaker 1: now back to so you go back from San Diego.
- 17:26Speaker 3: You're trying to figure out, well, where did you get
- 17:27Speaker 3: rid of? Yeah?
- 17:28Speaker 2: I'm like where is that?
- 17:28Speaker 3: What? Yeah? I told you figure.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I love hearing the story because you have these extra
- 17:33Speaker 1: I want to say, adjectives.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Is that the right word?
- 17:36Speaker 3: Yeah? Okay, yeah, because it's action packed. You know what
- 17:41Speaker 3: I'm saying. I was going through a lot, like I
- 17:43Speaker 3: didn't you know when you when you when you coming
- 17:46Speaker 3: from nothing. And this is why I always am with
- 17:49Speaker 3: people who came from nothing, because we understand each other
- 17:52Speaker 3: on a level that's just a little different. But I
- 17:54Speaker 3: also running corporate of the highest level. But I also
- 17:58Speaker 3: run in the lowest level because at the end of
- 18:00Speaker 3: the day, it's like when you come from having no
- 18:04Speaker 3: other option, it's serious. Yeah, I know, you know what
- 18:08Speaker 3: I'm saying. It's like, just because somebody's in a higher
- 18:11Speaker 3: neighborhood don't mean that they don't got no option but
- 18:14Speaker 3: to run the play either. Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:16Speaker 3: That's why you got white collar crimes, and that's why
- 18:18Speaker 3: you got other Don't think it's just all about oh,
- 18:21Speaker 3: because he got a rag on, he hard like, No,
- 18:24Speaker 3: it's a lot of people come from nothing, even to
- 18:28Speaker 3: Brazil favelas, to wherever you go. It's hoods, it's motherfuckers
- 18:32Speaker 3: that's willing to go to the roof wherever you go.
- 18:36Speaker 3: So I understood that early and I always related to
- 18:38Speaker 3: whoever was should like what you want. But the smart hustlers,
- 18:43Speaker 3: I hate dumb hustlers. I never hustled dumb. I would
- 18:47Speaker 3: have been locked up.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Can you break down a dumb hustler for me?
- 18:50Speaker 3: Yeah, A dumb hustler is A dumb hustler is A
- 18:56Speaker 3: dumb hustler is basically somebody who is always just hustling backwards.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Like if you in and out of jail all day,
- 19:04Speaker 3: you're hustling backwards, like your hustle is not planned out,
- 19:08Speaker 3: Like where's your execution? Every last every last person around
- 19:12Speaker 3: me been to prison, been to this, been to that, right,
- 19:16Speaker 3: every last person around me been to prison like all
- 19:18Speaker 3: my family, my brother did thirteen years, my other brother.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Everybody's been. But at the end of the day, you
- 19:26Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, it's about like dang, like they
- 19:29Speaker 3: all got the same story, Like damn, I should have
- 19:31Speaker 3: did that different. So if you're going to continue to
- 19:34Speaker 3: do the same thing over and over and over and
- 19:35Speaker 3: over and over, I need to drain this.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Ship.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Here. We're gonna figure out this one.
- 19:42Speaker 2: We have. We have a way to drain it can well.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Cut no, but no, we don't even need to. I'm
- 19:46Speaker 3: not just this guy to.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Be keen did with what if that splash? Is that
- 19:49Speaker 2: gonna splash that you?
- 19:50Speaker 3: Nah? Hell no, I'm doing drinking similarly.
- 19:54Speaker 2: That's how you know you self made right.
- 19:56Speaker 3: There right there, right there?
- 19:58Speaker 2: We don't real quick.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I ain't worried about that, but you know this
- 20:03Speaker 3: needs to be cleaned anyway eventually.
- 20:05Speaker 2: But you didn't put the seasonings in there?
- 20:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I know it's about to Okay, let's.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Not micro manage your cooking.
- 20:10Speaker 3: No, yeah, that's what I'm saying. That's why I ford
- 20:12Speaker 3: it out because I don't be liking the season and to.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Be I'm talking about yeah, yeah, so that's what I
- 20:17Speaker 2: do at my house.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I just kind of what's his name it was?
- 20:21Speaker 3: When you drop that in there, I should have had
- 20:24Speaker 3: you do the I'm talking about.
- 20:26Speaker 2: You needed help in the kitchen.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Me, Hell no, I don't need no help. I'll shoot me.
- 20:33Speaker 3: I ain't. Look, I'll tell you called me. Okay, I
- 20:36Speaker 3: should have went to the man. I should have went
- 20:38Speaker 3: to culinary art school. Just your whole it's all cut
- 20:43Speaker 3: of stuff going on. You throw this in there right there,
- 20:46Speaker 3: you feel look at this.
- 20:47Speaker 2: See I envisioned ghetto cast roles to be something.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Different, did you? This is the positive It looks.
- 20:53Speaker 2: It looks really fancy.
- 20:54Speaker 3: No, I'm telling you, I used to cut up the
- 20:57Speaker 3: turkey burger and throw this into that. If you eat
- 21:00Speaker 3: that with that, you feel to be like this dude,
- 21:02Speaker 3: rock did that? And then don't be using my recipe
- 21:05Speaker 3: at home, because that's the whole point using this, and
- 21:09Speaker 3: they're going to be they're going to be judging your
- 21:11Speaker 3: recipe this way because they wanted to do this. I'm
- 21:17Speaker 3: talking about what had me. You know what I'm saying,
- 21:19Speaker 3: I've been doing this as niggas were drinking similar looks. Yeah, yes,
- 21:23Speaker 3: I'm telling you. And then for me, I'm a spice
- 21:26Speaker 3: idter threw some mohat sauce on top and did it up.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Does it look this plated like this?
- 21:32Speaker 3: This? Well?
- 21:34Speaker 2: Does what look like does whenever you did it? Did
- 21:36Speaker 2: it look like this when you would play it?
- 21:38Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, yeah I cut it up sometimes, but yeah,
- 21:43Speaker 3: does it look well? It looked fancy.
- 21:45Speaker 2: It looked kind fancy.
- 21:47Speaker 3: If you I.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Think if you added like a little bit of greenery
- 21:53Speaker 2: or vegetable to it would have looked really fast.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Like you're really trying to break down my looks a little.
- 22:00Speaker 2: It looks nice. Okay, it's kind of fun. I haven't
- 22:05Speaker 2: sold millions of records. You know what I'm saying.
- 22:07Speaker 3: You never know. For me, this is listen, this is
- 22:09Speaker 3: doing something. You gotta break down to what's his name
- 22:12Speaker 3: into the West that you ain't got a knife if
- 22:14Speaker 3: you break down a little.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Piece Wait a minute, hold up, yeah, we need a
- 22:19Speaker 2: knife for your cooking.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Oh my Mama little, it's kind of crazy. I didn't
- 22:22Speaker 3: want to do too much, but I didn't want to
- 22:24Speaker 3: do too little. You know what I'm saying. When you
- 22:26Speaker 3: do that, and you do that with that, and you
- 22:29Speaker 3: just throw a little turkey up in there.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Look at it. I love that.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like something different because we didn't You didn't
- 22:40Speaker 3: have time to get all the pasta and this and
- 22:43Speaker 3: that and the third this was already its own made pasta.
- 22:47Speaker 3: She was going on, m it's actually kind of crazy, right, it's.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Good and you know what you're using that meat really well.
- 22:58Speaker 3: What I'm trying to explain, I was trying to tell
- 23:02Speaker 3: I don't even be like, I don't even want to
- 23:05Speaker 3: tell nobody when I started telling people.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Stuffy little soft, I don't like that, but I ain't
- 23:14Speaker 2: gonna lie.
- 23:14Speaker 3: I was talking too much. You seasoned that meat like
- 23:18Speaker 3: something's going on.
- 23:19Speaker 2: You seasoned it. What I'm trying to that it's good hunt.
- 23:22Speaker 2: That's what I'm trying to explain there, trying to tell.
- 23:25Speaker 3: You it's th season. I'm telling you this right here.
- 23:29Speaker 3: You was eating this after you did whatever you did
- 23:32Speaker 3: and came back to this. That's what I'm trying to
- 23:36Speaker 3: tell you thought you went to Ruth Cress.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie. You seasoned very well.
- 23:42Speaker 3: That's what I'm telling you. You thought I went to
- 23:44Speaker 3: you thought you went to Ruth Chris, but you went
- 23:47Speaker 3: to Rocks Crest. I don't know that that was crazy.
- 23:53Speaker 3: I ain't gonna lie that was nuts. But the punchline
- 23:58Speaker 3: is the punch you are ol man. Yeah, I just
- 24:03Speaker 3: came from eating That was the problem. To eat my
- 24:06Speaker 3: whole wasn't not right now, it's gonna be unusual.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I just what did you eat before this?
- 24:11Speaker 3: I just came from ruth Crest. We just came from
- 24:14Speaker 3: Ruth Christ That's the crazy part. I was like, damn,
- 24:17Speaker 3: let's just go get some steak into and then it
- 24:19Speaker 3: Now I got steak and all kind of his bomb. No, huh,
- 24:23Speaker 3: I'm telling you, I know my own ship. That's what
- 24:26Speaker 3: I'm saying. I'm mad. I'm not that hungry because it's
- 24:29Speaker 3: been going too far.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Is that you went from Ruth Chris to Eating this.
- 24:35Speaker 3: That's what I'm screaming. But it's the same program. Actually,
- 24:38Speaker 3: I like mine better. Really, man, what when I get
- 24:41Speaker 3: to season some of that stuff be bland. I'll be
- 24:44Speaker 3: paying five hundred dollars for something bland, just for the look.
- 24:48Speaker 2: You know what you're missing out because this.
- 24:52Speaker 3: This turkey burger is kind of doing something.
- 24:54Speaker 2: It's doing something like like I feel better what I'm saying.
- 24:57Speaker 3: And then this one right here is even more seasons
- 24:59Speaker 3: than that one. That's the crazy because I could smell it.
- 25:03Speaker 3: I know what happened off the way that the edges
- 25:05Speaker 3: is cout. I'm like, oh, like if I had to pick,
- 25:08Speaker 3: and then I had to pick for myself, I had
- 25:10Speaker 3: to pick.
- 25:10Speaker 2: That one, right, Maybe the other side is like that.
- 25:13Speaker 3: No, get a corner, Get a corner of that, and
- 25:15Speaker 3: see what happens if you.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Get that right already?
- 25:19Speaker 3: Be like, what is that corner?
- 25:20Speaker 2: This one looks more juicy.
- 25:21Speaker 3: That's what I'm telling you you. I didn't even mean
- 25:23Speaker 3: to do you like that, but I thought I was
- 25:26Speaker 3: gonna be able to get all stuffed. Yep mm hmm. Yeah,
- 25:35Speaker 3: that's what I'm yelling. That's what I'm telling you. Something
- 25:38Speaker 3: else going on over here anyway.
- 25:40Speaker 2: You know what.
- 25:43Speaker 3: You can That's what I'm explaining. I'm gonna put together
- 25:46Speaker 3: when I can put together. When I can put it together.
- 25:49Speaker 2: What was the last time you had this I.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Ain't made this in probably fifteen years.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Fifteen years.
- 25:56Speaker 3: This was like, this was a struggle meal.
- 25:58Speaker 2: If we left up at seventy.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Yeah, seventeen y all right, we're getting.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Close to you becoming rich.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Yeah, mam, we're getting there somewhere. Yeah. Yeah. I touched
- 26:10Speaker 3: my first million at like twenty one. Oh am, I
- 26:14Speaker 3: we're here now, okay, yeah, but I touched my first
- 26:16Speaker 3: million like twenty one.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I'm not skipping steps because your story is fun. So
- 26:28Speaker 1: seventeen yep, you moved from San Diego.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm back and I'm back on the block. I'm
- 26:34Speaker 3: back around here and I'm figuring it out pretty much.
- 26:37Speaker 3: So like eighteen, I had eighteen, I had bumped into
- 26:45Speaker 3: an investor. First of all, I was I was writing,
- 26:51Speaker 3: like I was battle rapping and doing all that, and
- 26:53Speaker 3: I was so popular with dance and I was getting
- 26:55Speaker 3: a lot of popularity with dance in my space in
- 26:58Speaker 3: San Diego. I had dropped the record called bat Box
- 27:00Speaker 3: on my space, and when I tell you, it was
- 27:03Speaker 3: the most popular. So I had like a million something blades.
- 27:05Speaker 3: It was the most popular song. And I said, dang,
- 27:08Speaker 3: these people really like my music. This is crazy, And
- 27:12Speaker 3: so I was getting so much, not that people were
- 27:14Speaker 3: dming me like yo, bro, that's fire, Like yo, bro,
- 27:16Speaker 3: what's up? So basically this investor had DM me like yo,
- 27:22Speaker 3: I got no Actually sorry, Mike Post. You know Mike
- 27:27Speaker 3: Post he created Law and Order, the Law and Order Tell,
- 27:31Speaker 3: the Lawn Order theme song, and all the music for
- 27:33Speaker 3: Law and Order. He gets paid every three seconds. He's ridiculous.
- 27:36Speaker 3: So so Mike Post is like, yo, like my other
- 27:40Speaker 3: boy was actually at Mike's studio. He's like, yo, you
- 27:42Speaker 3: should sit down on him. So I came over there.
- 27:44Speaker 3: They gave me like like it was like yo, go ahead,
- 27:47Speaker 3: like play what you got? I played it. I did
- 27:50Speaker 3: like a whole performance thing, Da da da, and it
- 27:52Speaker 3: was like yo, like you're the next There was no
- 27:55Speaker 3: Drake obviously, there was just maybe a Chris, but there
- 27:58Speaker 3: was no rapping, singing dance. Wasn't they like yo, like
- 28:01Speaker 3: you next up? Like this is crazy, like what you need?
- 28:04Speaker 3: Matter of fact. So he had an SSL studio with
- 28:06Speaker 3: like other rooms. He was like listen, anytime, use my studio.
- 28:10Speaker 3: You're good. So for me going, you know, in everybody
- 28:12Speaker 3: closet to record you know what I'm saying. The bathrooms
- 28:15Speaker 3: and I'm recording the most random places in the hood,
- 28:18Speaker 3: just like wherever you got a mic, set it up. Like,
- 28:22Speaker 3: so going from there to an SSL recording studio was
- 28:25Speaker 3: a It just was a different frequency. So I'm like,
- 28:29Speaker 3: because of my environment, I have to now adapt to
- 28:32Speaker 3: this level of music. So that SSL made me change
- 28:36Speaker 3: the way I approached records because I'm like, let me
- 28:39Speaker 3: think a little harder now, you know what I'm saying.
- 28:41Speaker 3: So I'm doing that, this and the third, and I'm
- 28:43Speaker 3: writing crazy records and I'm rapping. I'm doing all this stuff.
- 28:46Speaker 3: I was with this dude in Kira from London, which
- 28:48Speaker 3: is which was my main producer. I actually assigned a
- 28:51Speaker 3: production deal with him and Kira early was like he
- 28:58Speaker 3: was a family friend from from my mom from way back,
- 29:00Speaker 3: but he's from London, so his sound was European. He
- 29:05Speaker 3: had like done Kylie Minogue and all these other people,
- 29:08Speaker 3: so he was like, yo, rock, this is how we
- 29:10Speaker 3: gonna approach it. It was always like some big sound
- 29:12Speaker 3: in European, worldwide stuff. And then I'm like okay, and
- 29:17Speaker 3: then he was like, Yo, there's this group called Lexington Bridge.
- 29:20Speaker 3: The're number one in Germany. I'm gonna put you on
- 29:22Speaker 3: there with them. So he put me in with this
- 29:24Speaker 3: group and I ended up doing a verse and ended
- 29:27Speaker 3: up having a number one record in Germany with these.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Kids, You're doing a versus and rapping right, rapping, And
- 29:33Speaker 2: I was like eighteen.
- 29:34Speaker 3: So I'm like, dang, I'm sitting there and I'm going crazy.
- 29:36Speaker 3: I'm like, this is nuts. This is the first time
- 29:38Speaker 3: I ever But I didn't know what that meant. I
- 29:40Speaker 3: just like that. And then so from there.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Like now when you have the number one record, are
- 29:45Speaker 2: you making money or you just know that you have
- 29:47Speaker 2: I just know.
- 29:47Speaker 3: I got number on raere. I didn't even know what
- 29:48Speaker 3: it means.
- 29:49Speaker 2: To have a number one record.
- 29:51Speaker 3: I'm like nineteen right there in eighteen ninety. So then
- 29:56Speaker 3: Tim and Bob, right, you know Tim and Bob. Tim
- 29:59Speaker 3: and Bob like legendary producers like Jimmy jam and Terry
- 30:03Speaker 3: Lewis like super like my real film now my next
- 30:07Speaker 3: level brothers. These families different, But back then there was
- 30:10Speaker 3: Tim and Bob. They created Bobby Volentino that they voice
- 30:13Speaker 3: the me in Evolution and brought out to me in
- 30:15Speaker 3: case and everybody from beyond they had it was like everything.
- 30:20Speaker 3: So Dad came around and they were using my sister
- 30:23Speaker 3: actually to do back all Jennifer Lopez's backgrounds at the time,
- 30:29Speaker 3: and so one day, you know, my sister always was
- 30:33Speaker 3: like my sister loved me, so she's always like yo,
- 30:35Speaker 3: like I'm over here, da da da. And I came
- 30:38Speaker 3: to drop her off something at the studio and she's like, oh,
- 30:40Speaker 3: this is my brother. And they're like, damn, bro, you
- 30:43Speaker 3: look kind of dope. You look out like a look
- 30:44Speaker 3: like what you do? And I'm like, yo, rap da
- 30:46Speaker 3: da da, And so I pressed play on something. They like,
- 30:49Speaker 3: what the yo, man, what's up with here? So Tim
- 30:52Speaker 3: and Bob set up a session. I actually got in
- 30:55Speaker 3: the booth and while I was in the booth, he's like, yo,
- 30:57Speaker 3: can you test the mic because Bobby Valentino for the
- 30:59Speaker 3: comminges the mic. And so I started like singing or whatever,
- 31:02Speaker 3: just to try and get whatever frequency they were trying
- 31:04Speaker 3: to go. What even thinking about it? They was like, bro,
- 31:06Speaker 3: your voice is dope. What the do you know how
- 31:08Speaker 3: to write? So they forced me into writing like records.
- 31:12Speaker 3: It was weird like at the time, like yo, just
- 31:14Speaker 3: start yo, just start trying to write some stuff. And
- 31:16Speaker 3: like two or three sessions later, I had already wrote
- 31:19Speaker 3: like a hit and they're like, dude, this is like
- 31:21Speaker 3: you're a writer, you're a singer, You're a and I'm like, dang,
- 31:24Speaker 3: I just was transitioning into thing. I was morphing in
- 31:26Speaker 3: the difference right away. I'm like, damn, am I singer?
- 31:29Speaker 3: Am I writer? Because I was always rapping, battle rapping,
- 31:32Speaker 3: hardcore always, and then so my pin was so crazy.
- 31:36Speaker 3: It was like you put melodies over your pen, you're
- 31:39Speaker 3: gonna be vicious. And so my sister was always a singer,
- 31:41Speaker 3: so melodies was easy for me. So I'm like okay.
- 31:44Speaker 3: And so Tony Mercedes, who signed TolC, had came one
- 31:50Speaker 3: day and brought his artists and was like, yo, I
- 31:52Speaker 3: got this artist. She's big in Australia. Write her a song.
- 31:56Speaker 3: And I wrote her a song on the spot as
- 31:58Speaker 3: a smash, and he gave me a check. The next day.
- 32:00Speaker 2: It was like here, how much was the check?
- 32:03Speaker 3: Seventy five hundred dollars and I'm like like, hold on,
- 32:08Speaker 3: but he gave me the check. You're like just sign
- 32:10Speaker 3: this and I'm like all right, well I'm signing, and
- 32:12Speaker 3: it gave me seventy five dollars. I'm like, so one
- 32:15Speaker 3: of them, who am I giving this to? He like
- 32:17Speaker 3: this for you for writing a song every record. I
- 32:21Speaker 3: was trying to get you ten, but they only agreed that.
- 32:23Speaker 3: I'm like, so I got seventy five. Oh yeah, it's over.
- 32:27Speaker 2: I know that.
- 32:30Speaker 3: They're done. Everybody's done. Everybody's done. Nobody is going to
- 32:34Speaker 3: breathe again with the writing. Y'all are done. They're handing
- 32:37Speaker 3: out checks for writing hits. Everybody's done. All y'all are good.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Don't even don't even pick up the pen no more
- 32:44Speaker 3: unless you're extravagant. So from that day on, when I
- 32:48Speaker 3: see that check, and I didn't have to do no gags,
- 32:51Speaker 3: I have to do nothing. I have to hit no lick,
- 32:53Speaker 3: I'd have to do no nothing. I'd have to jump
- 32:56Speaker 3: through no windows, nothing, do no flock. I had to
- 32:59Speaker 3: sell nothing. I was, I said, he just handed me
- 33:01Speaker 3: this and all cash, and I don't have to do nothing.
- 33:04Speaker 3: And I just had to do that. No, my mama,
- 33:06Speaker 3: I was, Oh my god, I ain't look and as you.
- 33:09Speaker 3: And obviously ever since then it got wicked, it got serious,
- 33:14Speaker 3: and so I just started just becoming a guillotine with
- 33:20Speaker 3: the pen, like I'm just sharp I'm just like everybody
- 33:24Speaker 3: getting diced. So from then I just start cataloging. Oh y'all,
- 33:28Speaker 3: hold on, y'all be buying records after that's all y'all want.
- 33:30Speaker 3: So now I'm sitting there and then I'm finding friends.
- 33:32Speaker 3: You know what I sing? Jump in the booth, sing
- 33:34Speaker 3: what I'm singing? You know how to right? So then
- 33:36Speaker 3: the engineers ain't moving fast enough for me, so I'm like, damn,
- 33:40Speaker 3: I can't find an engineer. So now I'm in the
- 33:42Speaker 3: back trying to figure out how the engineer. Okay, let
- 33:44Speaker 3: me see how to record myself so I ain't got
- 33:46Speaker 3: to worry about these things. So I figure it out.
- 33:47Speaker 3: After some months, I put in hours and hours, and
- 33:50Speaker 3: every day I'm trying to figure it out, and I'm
- 33:51Speaker 3: going through, how do I tweet this? Put this EQ?
- 33:54Speaker 3: What's this? I'm looking up? So I'm asking the engineers.
- 33:56Speaker 3: They don't even want to rock. I'm in the middle
- 33:58Speaker 3: of Okay, how do I put it a EQ on this?
- 34:00Speaker 3: How do I make this sound better? How do I
- 34:02Speaker 3: do this? So I'm getting the breakdown. It's crazy. I'm
- 34:05Speaker 3: getting a breakdown. I'm like, damn, okay, cool. So from
- 34:09Speaker 3: there now I'm now all the engineer a little bit.
- 34:12Speaker 3: So then I'm sitting there and I'm writing. I'm like, damn,
- 34:14Speaker 3: where the producers at. Ain't these niggas ain't not giving
- 34:17Speaker 3: me enough material. I'm writing faster than the producers. You
- 34:20Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. For real. I'm like, I'm now
- 34:23Speaker 3: I'm cooking because my hustle. They gave me a check.
- 34:26Speaker 3: It's done. I'm not gonna stop until i'm up. If
- 34:29Speaker 3: I could stack these checks up to where i could
- 34:32Speaker 3: be up all the way up and just be up
- 34:35Speaker 3: man o my mom, and You're never gonna see nobody.
- 34:37Speaker 3: It's done. So I'm out writing every day. I'm waking morning, noon,
- 34:41Speaker 3: and night. I'm writing. And so now I'm like, okay, cool,
- 34:45Speaker 3: I don't know. I can't find any producers, but garage
- 34:47Speaker 3: man logic. I'm like, shop, let me figure it out.
- 34:51Speaker 3: So now I'm on garage man making whack beats. I'm
- 34:53Speaker 3: talking about super whack. I'm like boom. I'm like, oh,
- 35:01Speaker 3: I can see what a mix on it. They gotta
- 35:03Speaker 3: be crazy, It's all right, oh running back. So niggas
- 35:06Speaker 3: is walking in and I'm pressing play and the other
- 35:08Speaker 3: niggas in. They're like, yeah, we see, we can see,
- 35:14Speaker 3: we can see kind of what's he doing? Right? Hey?
- 35:17Speaker 3: And then Tim and Bob and all them and and
- 35:19Speaker 3: Tricky Stewart and all that, they coming in and they
- 35:22Speaker 3: pressing play on crazy. I'm like, damn, why shit is what?
- 35:25Speaker 3: So now I'm like damn, Like hold on. So I'm
- 35:29Speaker 3: now I got to sit here every day and figure
- 35:31Speaker 3: out how to produce, and I'm making whack ass beats
- 35:34Speaker 3: until finally i make a beat that's hot. Then I'm like, oh,
- 35:37Speaker 3: I'm for real. Hey, look I'm telling you now I'm
- 35:40Speaker 3: for real. I'm somebody else.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Now it's hlarious.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Man. I I'm doing. I'm doing all kind of I
- 35:46Speaker 3: don't even know how to play, but I'm trying. I'm
- 35:47Speaker 3: figuring it out. What this note? Go to this note? Okay?
- 35:50Speaker 3: What about this note? That don't sound right? So now
- 35:53Speaker 3: I'm playing everything my ear I'm creeping. So now I'm
- 35:56Speaker 3: getting into it now. So now I'm like, okay, you
- 36:00Speaker 3: know what, I'm selling records, But the records, it's now
- 36:04Speaker 3: about the networking. You gotta run around and figure out
- 36:07Speaker 3: how to get in people's faces. Like I got records
- 36:10Speaker 3: over here, I got enough of a catalog. I probably
- 36:12Speaker 3: made probably fifty sixty songs now and I'm able to
- 36:15Speaker 3: press play.
- 36:16Speaker 1: But like he's hearing it, you didn't try to go
- 36:19Speaker 1: back to first due that roature to check for the
- 36:21Speaker 1: seventy five.
- 36:22Speaker 3: That was one check. He not finna just cut me.
- 36:24Speaker 3: He did cut me a couple more checks, but he
- 36:26Speaker 3: don't got an undern amount of checks. He got other
- 36:28Speaker 3: producers that's bigger than me. Like he just gave me
- 36:31Speaker 3: a Like Tony Mercedi's just looked out. He just looked out,
- 36:34Speaker 3: like that's you know what you're young, Go ahead, I'll
- 36:37Speaker 3: rock with you. And I did, and I showed him
- 36:39Speaker 3: prove cut me to check. And Tony still my guy
- 36:41Speaker 3: to this day. But he created TLC. Like he's saying,
- 36:44Speaker 3: he was one of the early executives. So he always
- 36:46Speaker 3: seen you know, we make no scrubs and stuff. You
- 36:49Speaker 3: see you can see through like this dude, is he something?
- 36:53Speaker 3: He got something so real? An R is always recognized
- 36:57Speaker 3: like greatness in me when they've seen whatever was the
- 37:00Speaker 3: hungry whatever it was. So so he just looked out.
- 37:03Speaker 3: But I went to trying to find other Tony Mercedes,
- 37:06Speaker 3: who else got it? Yeah, so I was hustling and then,
- 37:09Speaker 3: like I said, your network is your network. So at
- 37:14Speaker 3: the time, I only knew a couple of people, and
- 37:16Speaker 3: I'm not I'm trying to figure out how to get
- 37:18Speaker 3: further than where I'm at. So I'm like, dang, like,
- 37:20Speaker 3: how do I get Maybe I need a manager. I
- 37:23Speaker 3: need somebody. Yeah, because this ain't gonna work. I need somebody.
- 37:26Speaker 3: So then I linked up with Chris Lighty.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Okay, you know what I'm saying.
- 37:31Speaker 3: No, Rather Chris Lighty Chris Light's most legendary manager ever.
- 37:35Speaker 3: He created fifty cent did divide him in water deal.
- 37:38Speaker 3: He's Violate. He created a company called Violator. No he's dead.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Yeah they died. No, No, it's all good. But that's
- 37:47Speaker 3: my that was my that was my big bro. So
- 37:49Speaker 3: he his situation was different because he created Violator, which
- 37:54Speaker 3: he signed Buster to and fifty And that's where Mona
- 37:57Speaker 3: Scott came from. And that's where all of them came.
- 38:00Speaker 3: She worked for Violator, all of them. He had a
- 38:02Speaker 3: hub of the Big Diddy. All of them was under Violator.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Violator was the thing, Yo gotty, all of them was.
- 38:09Speaker 3: When I got to Violator, they had already been them
- 38:11Speaker 3: but yo, gotty was running around with Mike Lighty, and
- 38:15Speaker 3: so Chris Lighty, Mike Lighty, Dave Lighty, Dave Lighty brought me. Yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 3: they're all Lighties, but Dave Lighty brought me to Chris
- 38:23Speaker 3: Lighty and Chris Lighty. When he see me, he was like,
- 38:28Speaker 3: because at that point in time, I had walked in
- 38:30Speaker 3: there and was like, what's up, bro, Yeah, I'm the greatest.
- 38:35Speaker 3: I'm the greatest that ever lived. And he was like, what, who?
- 38:39Speaker 3: I ain't even ever heard of you? Bro with you?
- 38:42Speaker 3: And so he like, I said, who's your favorite rapper?
- 38:45Speaker 3: He's telling me. I said, but I'm way better than them.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Do you know what I'm saying? I'm way better than
- 38:50Speaker 3: your favorite? He like, bro, God, hold on. He calls
- 38:53Speaker 3: Chris Lady, everybody in the room, the whole office, and
- 38:57Speaker 3: he goes, Okay, we're gonna see what you're into. He's like,
- 39:00Speaker 3: he's laughing at me. Though I swear everybody knows that
- 39:04Speaker 3: was around Tiffany, all the people that was around, he's
- 39:08Speaker 3: laughing at me. Right, He's like, yo, like, okay, we're
- 39:11Speaker 3: gonna see. And so I get up and I just
- 39:13Speaker 3: start barring down the whole room and they're like, oh
- 39:16Speaker 3: my god, what wal he like. So after I'm done,
- 39:20Speaker 3: I'm like yeah. He like, hold on, man, yo, you
- 39:24Speaker 3: are not. He like, hold on, man, you got song songs?
- 39:28Speaker 3: Press play? So I play like five six of my
- 39:31Speaker 3: craziest records. He like, you wrote these, that's you on it.
- 39:35Speaker 3: He's like, okay, you know what? All right, y'all, y'all good?
- 39:38Speaker 3: Are we good? All right? Everybody good? All right? Bruh.
- 39:42Speaker 3: So at the time, I had went to New York
- 39:44Speaker 3: to meet Chris Lighty, but I had set up a
- 39:46Speaker 3: meeting with Mark Pitts, which is also my big bro,
- 39:49Speaker 3: which was the president of the RCA Records. But he
- 39:52Speaker 3: had by a storm and you know, he signed Chris
- 39:54Speaker 3: Brown signs.
- 39:55Speaker 2: How are you getting these contacts? You're like, just.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Because because I was moving around. So I was in
- 40:01Speaker 3: a studio and a dude named cast And how I
- 40:04Speaker 3: got to Mark Pitts was a dude named casting kind
- 40:08Speaker 3: of like was there with me. He was like early
- 40:11Speaker 3: with me when I was just hustling in there singing
- 40:13Speaker 3: making records all the time. And Caston was like, dude,
- 40:16Speaker 3: you are ridiculous on the pen like yo, like you
- 40:21Speaker 3: like you need to be, so he brought a dude
- 40:23Speaker 3: named Kirk Lightburn to the studio that he was cool with,
- 40:26Speaker 3: and Kirk Lightburn worked from Mark Pitts, and Kirk Lightburn
- 40:29Speaker 3: heard me and was like, Yo, I need to get
- 40:33Speaker 3: you to New York to meet Mark period. So they
- 40:37Speaker 3: were scheduling it, and I scheduled Chris Lighty and Mark
- 40:39Speaker 3: Pitts same in two days. And so when I told
- 40:43Speaker 3: when I went and met with Mark Pitts and RCA,
- 40:45Speaker 3: we had such a vibe. I was with him, we
- 40:47Speaker 3: was locked in and him the whole off. He was like, Yo,
- 40:50Speaker 3: let's let's lock it and let's get it. Were good
- 40:52Speaker 3: you Buystorm And I went to Chris Lighti and Chris
- 40:55Speaker 3: Lighty was like, I can't even let you leave. Bro.
- 40:59Speaker 2: I was gonna say I would have never It was like,
- 41:01Speaker 2: I can't.
- 41:01Speaker 3: Even let you leave. He's like, honestly, I know where
- 41:03Speaker 3: you went from, but you the biggest your next trust me,
- 41:08Speaker 3: I know what it is. And I was like, I
- 41:10Speaker 3: think I was twenty at the time. I'm like, I
- 41:12Speaker 3: wouldn't old enough to drink. So I'm like I'm like,
- 41:16Speaker 3: I'm like, all right, so what you want to do?
- 41:18Speaker 3: He like well, well, how much you need or what
- 41:21Speaker 3: do you not? How much? He said, what do you need?
- 41:24Speaker 3: And I'm like, well right now, honestly, I just got
- 41:26Speaker 3: this little apartment that joint kind of hitting. But I've
- 41:30Speaker 3: been doing all cuntient. But I said, I'm finna go
- 41:32Speaker 3: back and the home you gotta lick. Right now, I'm
- 41:34Speaker 3: supposed to be up, Like if we hit this and
- 41:36Speaker 3: get away with this, I'm gonna be up fifty thousand.
- 41:38Speaker 3: You said that, yeah, but I'm telling them, really, what's happening. Yeah,
- 41:41Speaker 3: I'm like, cause I'm like, but the home you gotta lick.
- 41:43Speaker 3: But I'm like, I'm supposed to be writing this, and
- 41:44Speaker 3: these niggas want me to come to Germany. I'm he like, listen,
- 41:48Speaker 3: how much add up all your bills for the year.
- 41:51Speaker 3: And I'm like all right, I'm sitting there. He like,
- 41:53Speaker 3: do it now, and I'm sitting here and I'm adding
- 41:55Speaker 3: up and I'm like, oh damn. I'm like, okay, I
- 41:59Speaker 3: rent two thousand month, so that's already twenty four thy
- 42:02Speaker 3: twelve months. And then this car I just got off
- 42:06Speaker 3: this stupid ad. I got it from Statewide, which they
- 42:09Speaker 3: give you that you know, state Wide, No they you
- 42:11Speaker 3: ain't got no credit, but you want to flaws. You
- 42:14Speaker 3: put down thirty percent and they'll give you a car.
- 42:16Speaker 3: But they come in to repo at the day you
- 42:18Speaker 3: missed one payment. It's unusual so anyway, because they repot it.
- 42:22Speaker 3: So that's how I know. So I had this state
- 42:25Speaker 3: wide joint and I'm like, dang, thirteen hundred a month,
- 42:28Speaker 3: and I'm like, damn, I added that up. So tod,
- 42:30Speaker 3: I'm like damn. After I started adding up, like I
- 42:32Speaker 3: just need to get but I need to be fly,
- 42:34Speaker 3: and then I needed I'm like, damn, my bill's like
- 42:37Speaker 3: five thousand dollars a month. Bro. No, But I'm sitting
- 42:40Speaker 3: there and I'm talking. I'm like in my head and
- 42:42Speaker 3: I'm like, hey, bro, I ain't gonna lie all this, Okay.
- 42:46Speaker 3: So whole time, I'm dating this girl, Genevieve Jackson right
- 42:52Speaker 3: since I was, because I can't leave her out either
- 42:55Speaker 3: because she was pivotal back then. She's Michael Jackson's niece, right,
- 43:00Speaker 3: Jermaine's daughter, Randy's so like, I was also off and on,
- 43:07Speaker 3: living in the Jackson House on haven Hurst real like I.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Didn't have a spot to stay because they grew up
- 43:17Speaker 2: on haven Hurst and Mensino with the giraffe and all
- 43:19Speaker 2: that other that they grew up in that crazy mansion.
- 43:22Speaker 3: And she was my girl since I was sixteen. So
- 43:26Speaker 3: I was with her from sixteen to like twenty something,
- 43:30Speaker 3: so twenty I think or twenty one, I don't know.
- 43:34Speaker 3: We just got her like five years. But during this time,
- 43:38Speaker 3: I was also living off and on at the Jackson House.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Between my boy Shank's house and the Jackson House. So
- 43:48Speaker 3: my best friend Shank, we all shocked up in this
- 43:50Speaker 3: one bedroom over there. And then when it's getting bad
- 43:53Speaker 3: over there, I'm going to my girl house. She got
- 43:56Speaker 3: a mansion. I'm sleeping in the room Michael used to
- 43:58Speaker 3: sleep in. No dead ass, this is my baby. This
- 44:02Speaker 3: is my girl, like look Jennivier. So I'm playing scrabble
- 44:05Speaker 3: with miss Jackson, like Dr Majesty ja'afar, her little brother,
- 44:09Speaker 3: the whole family. We there. Janet's coming home to see
- 44:12Speaker 3: her mom at random times, and this is where her
- 44:14Speaker 3: grandma lived. She lived with her grandma, So that's Michael's mom,
- 44:16Speaker 3: that's Janis mind as everybody. So I'm there and I
- 44:20Speaker 3: was just like inside of the highest frequency. And then
- 44:24Speaker 3: go to the hood and be in the hood. It's
- 44:27Speaker 3: the weirdest. It was like where I was so catching
- 44:30Speaker 3: frequencies from everywhere. So I can't leave her out either
- 44:33Speaker 3: because she was she was also looking out back then
- 44:37Speaker 3: in terms of like letting me stay there and whatever.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Like she was solid back then. I can't just skip
- 44:42Speaker 3: over her. But I also besides Ruben Cannon and I
- 44:46Speaker 3: was everywhere, but that was one of the main places
- 44:49Speaker 3: I was obviously because I was my girl, So it
- 44:51Speaker 3: was what it was. But skip up. So I was
- 44:56Speaker 3: with her and he was tripping off that like dang
- 44:59Speaker 3: you with the jack like it was.
- 45:00Speaker 2: A thing when you were wait, go back. So he
- 45:03Speaker 2: asked you how much you made for a year? Yeah yeah, yeah, okay,
- 45:06Speaker 2: So you end up telling it up and telling him,
- 45:08Speaker 2: But how did he know that you were with her?
- 45:10Speaker 3: That's what I was saying, because I actually took her
- 45:12Speaker 3: out there. Yeah, I took.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Her out there.
- 45:16Speaker 3: So so so my boy let me stay at his house.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Roger Mason, which was playing for the Knicks at the time.
- 45:24Speaker 3: Roger Mason from the Knicks used to play for The
- 45:27Speaker 3: King's Two. But Roger Mason was trying to get me
- 45:32Speaker 3: to do his artist's project C. C. Cigar. So I'm
- 45:36Speaker 3: like like, ooh, I could go out there. I can
- 45:38Speaker 3: have these meetings. I could link with Roger figure out
- 45:40Speaker 3: if I can get a check out of him. And
- 45:42Speaker 3: so so I'm like, so Roger's like, yeah, you come,
- 45:46Speaker 3: you and your girl come, y'all just stay. He had
- 45:48Speaker 3: a penthouse over There's like, y'all got to stay here.
- 45:50Speaker 3: I'm like, damn you know me, I'm like, oh, I
- 45:53Speaker 3: got the oh, I got to New York. I was
- 45:55Speaker 3: in the big house. I was in there and being
- 45:56Speaker 3: at her in this tag like it's so it was up.
- 46:00Speaker 3: That's one of my best friends. Still. Roger Mason's really
- 46:02Speaker 3: won't so, you know, he was so anybody I met
- 46:05Speaker 3: with him. I'm sitting there with him. I'm telling him
- 46:08Speaker 3: like yo, He's like, damn you a Jackson. This is crazy,
- 46:10Speaker 3: like all this other stuff. Right, So he's like, all right, cool,
- 46:13Speaker 3: So how much five thousand a month for me? That
- 46:16Speaker 3: was a lot for him. He didn't even remember that
- 46:17Speaker 3: I even said five thousand a month. So he's like
- 46:20Speaker 3: fivey twelve sixty. He's like, all right, cool, I'm gonna
- 46:23Speaker 3: have you a check tomorrow for seventy thousand. After you
- 46:26Speaker 3: get that check, I'm gonna you're gonna work that check
- 46:28Speaker 3: back off. I will take it out of the money
- 46:30Speaker 3: that I make you. And I'm like, hold on, bro,
- 46:34Speaker 3: So you saying, if I saw if we do this
- 46:37Speaker 3: management and everything right here, right here, right now, you
- 46:40Speaker 3: fin the cut. I'm getting seventy thousand for you to
- 46:42Speaker 3: manage me and go get make me some more money.
- 46:44Speaker 3: And smo, do you believe in me that much? Were
- 46:47Speaker 3: you thinking? I said, Bro, it's over. Signed with Chris Lighty,
- 46:51Speaker 3: we locked in and it was like that was that
- 46:55Speaker 3: was the first person to believe in me. Chris Lighty
- 46:57Speaker 3: for real. And he was the one that was walking
- 46:59Speaker 3: around all offices like rock star. He did so so
- 47:03Speaker 3: so okay, all this confidence that you hear that right
- 47:08Speaker 3: there don't really work in the music business unless you
- 47:12Speaker 3: have accolades. I didn't have them, but I knew who
- 47:14Speaker 3: I was. So when you're walking around and you know
- 47:17Speaker 3: who you are, early, it's problems.
- 47:26Speaker 2: But it wasn't.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Now I heard because Kanye is like that too, but wasn't.
- 47:34Speaker 2: But before he was Kanye, he was producer.
- 47:36Speaker 3: For other people.
- 47:36Speaker 2: But was he was He was always.
- 47:38Speaker 3: Confident, but he wasn't on what I was going because
- 47:42Speaker 3: the thing about him was I'm just saying, yeah, it
- 47:44Speaker 3: was that I get like he is like like me
- 47:47Speaker 3: and him would have been best friends, but he was
- 47:50Speaker 3: like the way he was, he was still like up
- 47:54Speaker 3: under whoever, like he was up under the rock or
- 47:58Speaker 3: up under dame er, can you look out me? I'm
- 48:01Speaker 3: finna go be, Dang, I'm finna go be. I'm finna
- 48:04Speaker 3: go figure it out, like yeah, man light, he managed me,
- 48:06Speaker 3: but he was setting me up to become me, you
- 48:10Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. I was already walking in the
- 48:11Speaker 3: buildings like, yeah, who's your biggest artist? All right, cool,
- 48:16Speaker 3: I'll do the album, but this is how we're gonna
- 48:18Speaker 3: do this, and they're like who is this? And Chris like, yo,
- 48:21Speaker 3: he's next. I just told you. I put all y'all,
- 48:24Speaker 3: then I put you on. I just told you he's next.
- 48:26Speaker 3: And then they'd be like, oh a right, Chris, all right,
- 48:28Speaker 3: well let's do So Chris was more like standing behind
- 48:32Speaker 3: bullying like whatever. Like Chris was so solid that he
- 48:36Speaker 3: was like rock, just talk your shit, just go off.
- 48:38Speaker 3: So I was running through buildings going off like whatever,
- 48:41Speaker 3: who is it? All right? What's the artist? Okay, this
- 48:44Speaker 3: is trash. Let's redo this. But I was delivering, like
- 48:48Speaker 3: when it was my time to shine. He'd come in
- 48:49Speaker 3: and press play like I told y'all. Okay, So we
- 48:52Speaker 3: was winning, and so I went and got an artist.
- 48:55Speaker 3: You know, he'd be like, rock, you need the you
- 48:56Speaker 3: gotta get in your mogul mode. All this genius put
- 48:59Speaker 3: it on an artist. So I went and got this
- 49:01Speaker 3: artist named Jude Claire Demors right out of Detroit. And
- 49:04Speaker 3: I don't want to know Chris and the Cute. I
- 49:08Speaker 3: actually caught her walking out of Chris and Cute's office
- 49:11Speaker 3: Chris and Cute and was like, everybody's passing on this girl.
- 49:14Speaker 3: And I looked at her and I'm like, this chick
- 49:16Speaker 3: is like gorgeous. She was like she was like just
- 49:21Speaker 3: she had a thing to her and I'm like, dang,
- 49:23Speaker 3: you a star man. And she's like yeah, and she
- 49:27Speaker 3: from the She's like from the bottom of the d
- 49:30Speaker 3: Like she's like Foster Home like type. Her parents were
- 49:33Speaker 3: running back, so she was like from the bottom. Like so,
- 49:36Speaker 3: but she's a white girl. It's the weirdest thing. So
- 49:39Speaker 3: she like that Tina Marine, you know, you never heard
- 49:41Speaker 3: of her. Jude dem she ever seen Star She's on
- 49:45Speaker 3: the show Star But but but but anyway, I knew,
- 49:48Speaker 3: I knew. I knew she was a start early because
- 49:50Speaker 3: when I see him like yo, and her voice was
- 49:53Speaker 3: real dope, and I'm like, damn, that's crazy. So I
- 49:56Speaker 3: grabbed Jude and I'm like, yo, just roll me, let me.
- 50:01Speaker 3: I'm gonna sign you. I'm gonna do your project. We're
- 50:03Speaker 3: gonna get you popping. And she's like, all right, let's
- 50:05Speaker 3: do it. So she signed me. My well, my lawyer,
- 50:09Speaker 3: Roger Patton was opening a lot of doors for me,
- 50:12Speaker 3: my boy Kenny Lattimore, which was singing with my sister. Again.
- 50:16Speaker 3: I know a lot of people from my sister too.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Kenny Latimore introduced me to Roger Patton, my lawyer. To
- 50:21Speaker 3: this day, I never changed. I stick to the code
- 50:24Speaker 3: my lawyer to this day. I made him millions of dollars.
- 50:27Speaker 3: She's still the same lawyer. Roger Patton linked me with
- 50:33Speaker 3: a bunch of different people, but he did all the contracts.
- 50:35Speaker 3: He was ideals. So I signed her. And when I
- 50:39Speaker 3: signed her, I did her album and Chris was like, Yo,
- 50:42Speaker 3: do her album, get it right. And I signed this
- 50:45Speaker 3: other girl, Carolina Web which is like one of the
- 50:48Speaker 3: greatest talents. She's ridiculous, like a rock chick like something,
- 50:52Speaker 3: but anyway, like a paramour. But I signed her and
- 50:54Speaker 3: her and I and when I signed her, He's like,
- 50:58Speaker 3: do her album. Let's go do it. So I've been
- 51:00Speaker 3: album I was. I was doing all kind of stuff
- 51:03Speaker 3: like me and her was locked in finished her album.
- 51:06Speaker 3: She was still on the bottom and I'm We're like,
- 51:08Speaker 3: we're gonna run. So we So we walked into Jimmy
- 51:11Speaker 3: Ivian's house, right and this is the first time I
- 51:13Speaker 3: ever started seeing what was going on. So besides him
- 51:16Speaker 3: giving me that seventy thousand dollars check, the other biggest
- 51:19Speaker 3: check I got was was Roger Mason ended up giving
- 51:24Speaker 3: me two hundred and twenty thousand dollars to do CC
- 51:27Speaker 3: Cigars album. So now I'm up like two ninety now,
- 51:32Speaker 3: my mam and me up to ninety. You don't want
- 51:35Speaker 3: me to be up to ninety at that point, but
- 51:37Speaker 3: I was doing it. Hey, look, I was like to night.
- 51:41Speaker 3: When I looked at this, it was zeros in the
- 51:43Speaker 3: account and it was legal man on my mama, you
- 51:46Speaker 3: don't even want to talk to me. Talking to me
- 51:48Speaker 3: was wild because I was just saying, I mean, what
- 51:51Speaker 3: do you mean I'll fly out of here? Hey, look,
- 51:53Speaker 3: I thought I was next year. It was I blew
- 51:57Speaker 3: through the money so fast that my ankles on twisted.
- 52:02Speaker 3: That's how fast I ran through the money. My ankles
- 52:04Speaker 3: almost twisted. How fast I ran through the money. It
- 52:07Speaker 3: was unusual. But I didn't even get there yet. Thank
- 52:10Speaker 3: you for ruining that. But yeah, I absolutely ran through
- 52:13Speaker 3: the money. And when I tell you, I never not
- 52:16Speaker 3: ran through the money. It's mandatory that you run through
- 52:19Speaker 3: the money. Though. A billionaire broke that down to me
- 52:23Speaker 3: because I never understood why I kept blowing my money.
- 52:28Speaker 3: That's a huge part that people have to realize. Why
- 52:32Speaker 3: do you blow your money? Why? So a couple different
- 52:36Speaker 3: mobuls taught me different things, but one billionaire told me,
- 52:41Speaker 3: you know the reason you blowed through your money, Like
- 52:43Speaker 3: you keep complaining because one time I went broke. This
- 52:45Speaker 3: we're skipping up. You got me skipping up. One time
- 52:48Speaker 3: I went broke right after I got all this money.
- 52:51Speaker 3: One time I went broke. And when I was broke,
- 52:54Speaker 3: I was sitting there and I'm telling him, like, bro
- 52:56Speaker 3: I'm fucked up right now. You ain't got no projects like,
- 52:59Speaker 3: just give me a bridge and I'm gonna get back
- 53:01Speaker 3: on my feet. And he like, he like, listen, how
- 53:04Speaker 3: much you I'm like give me, like I need like
- 53:06Speaker 3: a core, I need like two hundred and fifty thousand.
- 53:08Speaker 3: So he like, all right, listen, you keep looking real emo.
- 53:14Speaker 3: And I don't like the way you're talking about yourself
- 53:16Speaker 3: or the way you feeling, like the way you're I'm
- 53:19Speaker 3: used to a different type of rock star. You gotta
- 53:21Speaker 3: understand how the trajectory of money goes. And I'm like,
- 53:25Speaker 3: what you mean? He said, listen, When I made five
- 53:27Speaker 3: hundred thousand, I lost it. Then I made a million,
- 53:30Speaker 3: I lost it. Then I made two million. I lost
- 53:33Speaker 3: it until I got to a place where I made
- 53:35Speaker 3: enough where I could fall on a cloud and I
- 53:37Speaker 3: was still up there, and then I could keep going
- 53:39Speaker 3: from there. He said, it's mandatory because you have to
- 53:42Speaker 3: go low to go high. You gotta bend your knees
- 53:45Speaker 3: to jumps gravity. If you don't go low, you're not
- 53:48Speaker 3: gonna go high. So your trajectory even on a stock obviously,
- 53:53Speaker 3: now me being publicly traded, a publicly traded company owner,
- 53:57Speaker 3: and me being a stock me being who I today
- 54:00Speaker 3: and a mogul and a different type of thing with tech,
- 54:03Speaker 3: and I understand now how graphs and charts work. Back then,
- 54:07Speaker 3: I didn't even know what he was talking about, but
- 54:09Speaker 3: I did say, dang, you do gotta being your needs
- 54:11Speaker 3: to jump. You gotta go lower to go higher. He's like, bro,
- 54:14Speaker 3: you keep don't fold because you hit the ground. You
- 54:17Speaker 3: should be rejoicing. You the type of dude you are.
- 54:20Speaker 3: You think you're gonna stay here? Yeah? Right, I bet
- 54:22Speaker 3: everything in my account you'll be rich in the year.
- 54:25Speaker 3: And I'm like what damn. I'm like, okay, cool, And
- 54:28Speaker 3: he didn't give me the money. He was like, I'm
- 54:30Speaker 3: not gonna give you the money because you gotta go
- 54:32Speaker 3: through the steps to go get the money. Go figure
- 54:34Speaker 3: it out. Shit. And I'm like, damn, this nigga did
- 54:36Speaker 3: all that and I didn't get nothing. This sucks. This
- 54:39Speaker 3: nigga sucks. But at the end of the day, it
- 54:42Speaker 3: was so true. I was like, yo, and I figured
- 54:45Speaker 3: out how to maneuver and figure and everything. Every detail
- 54:48Speaker 3: was mandatory for my next elevation, you know what I'm saying.
- 54:53Speaker 3: So it's crazy, but anyway, that's not where I was at.
- 54:56Speaker 3: You got me over here going broke and stuff like that.
- 54:58Speaker 3: Where losing my money? Where was I at? No? I
- 55:00Speaker 3: was somewhere else, is going brilliant?
- 55:02Speaker 2: All right, Yo, you got your money from Chris lady up,
- 55:08Speaker 2: you got the two hundred and twenty, and he was
- 55:11Speaker 2: feeling yourself.
- 55:12Speaker 3: I was doing as much as one person could do.
- 55:14Speaker 3: I'll talk about So. Then I bump into Chris Brown, right, No, no, no,
- 55:18Speaker 3: not yet, Chris Lighty, No no, no, Let's go back
- 55:21Speaker 3: to June. That's where I was at so so so
- 55:24Speaker 3: Claire Demos. I'm sitting there at Dinner album. We walk
- 55:26Speaker 3: into Jimmy Ivin's house. Jimmy Ivien, me and Chris Lighty
- 55:30Speaker 3: sit there and play the music and I'm in Jimmy house.
- 55:32Speaker 3: I'm like, Jimmy made everybody. So I'm sitting there in
- 55:35Speaker 3: Jimmy house and I'm like, yo, I'm nervous, but I'm like, shit,
- 55:37Speaker 3: I just made the craziest album ever. I got Tina
- 55:40Speaker 3: Marie right here, press play. And he's sitting there, Jimmy.
- 55:44Speaker 3: He's like yeah with his hat, He's like, mansion is stupendous.
- 55:50Speaker 3: I'm sitting here like this is cantankerous. I'm in this joint,
- 55:53Speaker 3: like need me one of these, I'm saying. So anyway, yeah,
- 55:57Speaker 3: it's unusual activity. So I'm in gim me. I mean,
- 56:00Speaker 3: I'm sitting here, and I'm like, damn, this is crazy.
- 56:02Speaker 3: So we present play and so he's sitting there and
- 56:06Speaker 3: I'm she's nervous, so she ain't selling the records, so
- 56:10Speaker 3: I get to selling the records for her. Damn. There,
- 56:13Speaker 3: I'm in that mother like boo, I'm I'm sitting So
- 56:16Speaker 3: he's now paying attention to what I'm doing. I'm lipping
- 56:18Speaker 3: the words and this up then and then I'm here,
- 56:21Speaker 3: so I just take because she ain't able to right
- 56:24Speaker 3: now for some reason, she not being her. She's a
- 56:26Speaker 3: star twenty four to seven, but something made her not deliver,
- 56:31Speaker 3: and I said, damn, so I had to take the
- 56:33Speaker 3: floor and I'm instead and I'm you know, as a producer.
- 56:36Speaker 3: We still we made it. So we're sitting there and
- 56:38Speaker 3: we know how to still deliver whatever's happening. And so
- 56:41Speaker 3: he's sitting there, so he tells Chrisy goes, Okay, I
- 56:45Speaker 3: like her, but he's the star, so what do you
- 56:49Speaker 3: want to do with him? And so she so Chris
- 56:54Speaker 3: Landy like, oh, Okay, well we'll figure it out. Let's
- 56:57Speaker 3: talk and to that. So we get in the car
- 57:00Speaker 3: and she starts crying, breaking it down. She acting like
- 57:04Speaker 3: I did it something. So I'm like, damn. Like so
- 57:08Speaker 3: that's another thing, managing artists and them whole. So I'm
- 57:11Speaker 3: like damn. So I'm sitting here with her and I'm like, listen,
- 57:15Speaker 3: you didn't sell it. Period.
- 57:17Speaker 2: You said that to her?
- 57:18Speaker 3: What me, I'm saying everything. I'm telling her you didn't
- 57:22Speaker 3: sell it. We did all this and you didn't sell it.
- 57:24Speaker 3: So that's not my fault. You're supposed to sell it.
- 57:27Speaker 3: So me and her do all that, and she like, ah,
- 57:30Speaker 3: it's a whole thing. So I tell Chris, I say, Chris,
- 57:33Speaker 3: I need you to set something up. She don't feel
- 57:35Speaker 3: good about herself right now. It feels like this is this,
- 57:39Speaker 3: we got it. We gotta deliver. And Chris like, I'm
- 57:41Speaker 3: gonna call La Red.
- 57:43Speaker 2: I'm like, all right, do you leave Jimmy with the
- 57:46Speaker 2: whole I want him?
- 57:47Speaker 3: So he was see Chris started kind of like like,
- 57:51Speaker 3: we'll circle back to Jimmy because he want to work
- 57:53Speaker 3: with you. Because Jimmy signs Timberland's producers and doctor dres
- 57:57Speaker 3: and forrels and that's what that's what Jimmy. Yeah, so
- 58:01Speaker 3: he's met people like me show up. He like, oh,
- 58:03Speaker 3: it's another to doctor Dry. That's why I come over.
- 58:06Speaker 3: So he's on that type of vibe. But that's where
- 58:09Speaker 3: he's thinking. But she's like, I'm still in the middle
- 58:12Speaker 3: of I just completed this project and gave her all
- 58:15Speaker 3: these promises. Claire. I got you out the hood, I
- 58:18Speaker 3: got you you good. We're from Detroit. It's over. It's us,
- 58:22Speaker 3: it's just me and you against the world. And Chris,
- 58:25Speaker 3: let's get it done. I promised you you was gonna
- 58:27Speaker 3: get signed. I know, nobody ever did it. I'm gonna
- 58:29Speaker 3: do it for you. And I was, and I was
- 58:31Speaker 3: stuck on it. So I told Chris right now, forget me,
- 58:34Speaker 3: let's go to somebody. So he hit He hit La Reid.
- 58:39Speaker 3: So we missed the flight to go meet La Red.
- 58:43Speaker 3: So I'm like, oh my god. So I'm just in
- 58:47Speaker 3: the airport with Claire. I'm losing it. Claire's like, Yo,
- 58:52Speaker 3: this is crazy because I always miss every flight because
- 58:57Speaker 3: I'm my My scheduling is try. So I missed the flight.
- 59:02Speaker 3: She's looking at me like I've done, signed to the
- 59:05Speaker 3: most incompetent. He's a genius, but he just what is
- 59:09Speaker 3: he doing? So she's sitting here and she's like, she's
- 59:14Speaker 3: a white girl, but she's a black woman. It's not
- 59:17Speaker 3: a normal. Yeah, it's not She's not a normal. So
- 59:20Speaker 3: she's sitting there like and I'm like, damn. I'm like,
- 59:24Speaker 3: I just missed a flight. So Chris like, you missed
- 59:30Speaker 3: a flight. So he cussing me out. So I'm like, damn.
- 59:33Speaker 3: I'm like, so he like, listen, I set it up
- 59:35Speaker 3: for a week later. Get here in a week, bro,
- 59:39Speaker 3: if you miss this flight, don't talk to me for
- 59:42Speaker 3: I'm not even talking to you no more. I'm like, damn.
- 59:45Speaker 3: So I get on the flight. I'm domn there sleeping
- 59:47Speaker 3: the airport. I'm in that the flight. I'm not the
- 59:51Speaker 3: flight on Wednesday. I'm in there Tuesday. Like I'm in
- 59:54Speaker 3: that joint right, I don't even care. So we get
- 59:57Speaker 3: on that flight, made, we go to La re We
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: go to La Reid's office. When we go to La
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Reid's office, I'm in there with this an r that
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: was kind of like feeling Claire a little bit off
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: what was going on, named Randy Rozano and so she
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: was like kind of champion and like whatever you wanted.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: Like she was like, yo, when you go to La Reid,
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: I'm gonna be in there like that was one of
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: his main a and rs. She like, y'all, I'm gonna
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: be with y'all. Like this is crazy, like I love it,
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: and everybody respected Chris. So everybody's kind of like, yo,
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: let's do it, like this is a thing. And so
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: I took Claire. I'm like, listen before we go in here,
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: you this is where Rihanna came from. You're Rihanna. This
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: has to happen. Let's go like this is not a game.
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: I'm not gonna be selling your sell yourself. Please, this
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: is crazy. And she like I got this, don't worry
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: about it. I got it. I'm like all right, cool.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: So we go up at La Reid's office and La
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: Reid sitting there and he's like, no, da da, but
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: see Claire's bad. So La read like he got the
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Rihanna's and the Pink singer. So when he sees something,
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: he's like, so she walk in and she come in
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: and da da da. He like, okay, go ahead, play it.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: But when you playing the song perform it. I'm like,
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: oh my god. So I'm like, this is finnicky crazy already.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: I'm like, don't even know. But I'm like, oh, so clear,
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: get up, and she'd kill it. She'd get to doing
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: whatever they be doing when you do stuff. So she
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: was cooking the records crazy and she in it, and
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: she telling him, oh, this is she's singing the record
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: and the record crazy sound like a new reality. And
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: he like, all right, get y'all, go go ahead, and
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: I get it. I get it. So he tells us
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: I get it. In the middle of us doing this,
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: She's like, I get it. Okay, y'all go ahead, go outside.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Let's I'm gonna talk to Chris. I get it, Like
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: I've seen enough. I'm like, damn. So we go outside
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: and I'm sitting there. I'm like, damn, you blew it.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: I told you about this stupid ass dress you do
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: on war and this probably would mess up. And she's like,
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: man I did. So we in the in the lobby
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: arguing about whatever the fuck because I'm thinking she I'm like,
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: I don't even know. So then Chris Lighty and La
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: Reed come out with the other n rs and they're like,
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: all right, all right, do you want the deal. I'm like,
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: what deal. They're like, listen, we're gonna go across the
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: street to Lavo. We're gonna let the lawyers do the deal.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: We're giving her her record deal right now. Y'all not
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: leaving until we signing it. And I'm like, huh, so
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: me and her we it's up. So she started crying.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: We running around. It's that. I'm like, oh, it's up.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: So I'm like, damn. So I'm sitting there with her like, yo,
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: I can't believe I just did this because I really
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: manifested and created and it worked and we're here, and
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: so they like, no, so I go. And that was
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: my first seven hundred and fifty thousand so I sold.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: I was twenty one. I think I sold her for
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: seven hundred. She signed to me. It's called fs O
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: for the Services Up. So she signed on my production company,
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: and she signed the Epic Records through me. So so
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: I basically you leased the artist pretty much. Anyway. I
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: got the check, bought her a brand new Rams Rover,
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: gave her a check, got her out her apartment. She
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: was living with her sister and her mom and it's
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: like over there in the middle of Korea town and
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: something crazy. It was like it was crazy, but got
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: them their own spot. They moved into this house. And
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: that was the first time I ever flipped. That was
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: that was like my first legal brick. Like I like load,
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: like I found a collect that was pretty much a
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: Colombian connect and I just flipped the whole. All that's
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: gone one load. I showed up and we got out
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: of there safe and the gorillas didn't get us. That
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: was the most money I had ever seen at the time,
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: so I'm like, oh my god, and I just went broke.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: That was the thing. I lost all the money doing
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: too much because I had just got all that. The
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: second again, yeah yeah, definitely lost again. But but that too,
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: I just was I was down there like two ninety
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: I was down there like two and nine dollars. I
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: was down I'll tell you all to you know where
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: I was at. It was bad. But anyway, so I'm
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: sitting there broke, busted and discussed in the office. Boom
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: that check come through. It's another seven. I'm like, oh,
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: I'm up now up So now I'm like, oh, so
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: signed her there. That was the first time I ever
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: went through having an artist and a major. That whole
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: situation went far left. But we're not going to go
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: into what that was because that was crazy. But you
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: know that taught me a whole bunch of stuff there
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: in terms of signing artist to majors and then the net.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: Let's keep skipping. The next big check was when I
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: signed a label deal myself to Craig Calman. That was
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: my first millions.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Chris Oh, Chris Lighty, Chris Brown.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: That's where we're going, like watching a movie.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: Yeah, literally, I can have popcorn right now.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, So Chris Lighty oh ye, okay,
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: we gotta wrap this up. So Chris Lighty, this is
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: the sick part about this. Chris Lighty dies out the blue,
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: right out the blue. So I'm like, what the so
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: they called me like Chris dead. I'm like, huh, Chris
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: who Chris Lighty dead. I'm like, hold on, bro, what
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: so I'm like what So I'm fucked off. My head
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: is fucked I'm like, bro, So I'm calling Dave. I'm crying.
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: I'm fucked up. I'm like, what is going on? So?
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: This whole conspiracy is crazy? Ship. I'm like dude, what
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: is going So once he once he died, all the
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: vultures just fool. It got bad, right, It got bad
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: right away because they already didn't like me. You understand,
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: they didn't like me. They had to like me. Yeah,
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: that's the thing. They had to like me because I
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: pressed playing my speakers was smacking their stupid asses, and
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: they had to like me because of who I was with,
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: and it was hierarchy, so they couldn't do nothing about
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: but like, all right, he's next. He guess he's the
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: next Kanye like they had to, but they didn't want
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: to and they didn't. So when he died, and my MoMA,
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: one thing I remember I'll never forget. I walked into
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: I snuck into the being my Awards and I walked
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: into the being my Awards. And I'm gonna leave the
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: exact name out of it because I liked the exact now,
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: but back then it was the wick. It was the
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: coldest shit I ever heard. And Nigga tell me so,
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: I had already liked been trying to reach out to
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: people afterwards, to do certain things, even trying to reach
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: out to the label, and they didn't want to respond.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: And now they direct with my artists and I can't
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: even get it.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: So now the artists and all them is all best
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: friends and I can't even nobody want to answer my calls.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: Now it's Rock who is Ain't no Chris, It's just Rock.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: So now I'm the little nigga again. I'm nobody again.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: So I'm sitting there and I'm like, damn, so I
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: can't even get to the label. They taking my artists.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: She running around sessions and were about to drop. I
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: don't know nothing about it. They doing whatever they want
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: to do, and I'm trying to reach out to La
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: Read and I can't get to them. None of them
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: want to answer my call. So I'm like, man, it's crazy.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: So everybody kind of just blackball. It was like nobody was.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: It was like as soon as Chris, they was like,
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: why would we answer the phone without Chris? This isn't
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: making any sense right, So what happens is I'm like
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: most people would have been like, damn, man, they ain't
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: fuck with me. I'm done. But obviously lead that's when
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: that confidence, like whatever God has for me, no man
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: could stop. So I already knew, like y'all are trying
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: to play me and just fueled me. Most people fold
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: when they give that type of energy, they fold up.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: I get amped from it. It's like a big It's
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: like the big that comes from me being in the
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: streets the biggest dude hop out and oh what's up,
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: and everybody like hey, backing up, and man, I don't
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: want to I'm like, huh, I feel like now you think,
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: now you think you want to show me. I'm finished
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: try and do some amazing shit. So I want to
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: show out. So I'm trying to do I always was
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: that guy. I want to fight the biggest dude. I
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: want to whatever. So I went after everybody pretty much
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: in a nutshell in a different type of way. I'm like,
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: I gotta play chess. They don't want to let me
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: in the door. I'ma figure this out my throat. So
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: I went to the b and my awards and wasn't
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: nobody fucking with me. It was all what it was.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: And when I went to be in my awards, the dude,
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: the executive, powerful executive, he sees me, he goes, yo,
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: So how you being? I'm like, man, Ever since Chris
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: Lighty died, Man, this industry just I'm seeing how fake
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: it is. He's like, yeah, man, like Chris Lighty died,
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: we didn't really want you in the building in the
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: first place, Like we talked to you. He tells me,
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: we didn't want you in the building in the first place.
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: You you pretty much Chris barged his way in there
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: with you, and we couldn't do nothing about it. But
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: at the end of the day, he's gone. So I
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: don't know what the hell you're gonna do now because
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: I don't see it happening. But he'd been waiting to
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: say this. This is how wicked he be on the low.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: They don't see it happening. But good luck, bro, and yeah, man,
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: it's all good. This is a jew too, It's all good.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: I holler at you. I'm like, damn, I'm like I said, listen,
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: I said, Chris Lighty is gone, and you think my
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: career over. He's like, I don't think your career is over,
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: but I just don't see what you're gonna do next.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: I said, well, first of all, what you gotta understand
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: is this shit is in me on a scale. You
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: haven't even you the fact that you just said that.
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: I said, I guarantee you you'll be cutting me a
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: check soon, but I'm gonna holler at you, so we'll
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: want to shake his hand. So he like, uh so boom,
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: So I go back. I tell I guarantee you you're
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: gonna cut me a check soon. And that's saying nigga
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: ended up cutting me multiple checks. But the crazy thing
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: is crazy thing is they will try and blacklist you
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: to the maximum capacity if they feel like they can't.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: The industry is so scandalous if they can get you
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: out the way they will. They're all scary ass executives.
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: None of them want to be taking risk and putting
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: their job on the line for you. And so I
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: ended up, you know, kind of like have to navigate
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: my artists being took me, kind of running through my
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: bread not having nothing going on into who brought me
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: back to life Mark Pitts with Chris Brown. So after
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: all of that, right, you understand, after all of that,
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: I'm sitting there and I'm just like doing independent projects
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: really like I gotta I'm hustling, and so I'm just
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: doing independent projects. And so like I got a new
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: girlfriend and she was signed the TI and I took her.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: And now they feel some time. It's crazy. So I'm
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: already politic and all kind of stuff, right, it's crazy.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: I'm already in the mix. So I'm like, damn, like,
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: I just keep running into roadblocks. So I'm sitting there
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: and one day Chris Lighty, no Chris like Mark Pitts
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: calls me and he goes, hey, you still make music.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: I'm like, what do I make? I said, Now, Mark,
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: you know I'm the greatest that ever lived. Why would
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: you call me and ask me? Am I still the
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: greatest that ever lived? And he goes, you are nuts?
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: He said, Yo, pull up on me, man, we're doing
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: this Chris Brown camp, pull up on me. Let's see
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: what we can get accomplished. Like, I'm gonna just see.
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: So check this out. I had just gotten to a
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: whole pretty much scuffle with Chris Brown's whole team in
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: the club supper club the night before.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: So so I'm in. I'm in. This is how crazy
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: it is because I'm in the club, so like, this
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: is how I'm doing stuff. So I'm in the club
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: supper club and all this stuff because this where all
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: the stars is coming, Like everybody's there, all the big
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: stars of the time, kept coming to supper club. Yanna
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: be there, this person be there, and my boy Johnny Cruz,
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: who I grew up with, was running the club. It's
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: the biggest club in Hollywood. So I'm in there and
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: I'm at the main table and he just like, just
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: give me a thousand and give me. So I'm by
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: bottles and I got bad, bitch. It's ridiculous. I got five, six,
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: seven bad. So I'm walking in with seven eight bad bitches.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: And then they're like, damn, it's a good was this
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: Hugh Hefner. I'm walking in So Chris Brown. This is
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: the first time I ever interacted with him besides dance,
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: because I met Chris Brown two times before, but it
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: wasn't that type of experience. He came to the Jackson House.
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: You can actually look up Chris Brown going to the
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: Jackson House. I was there. He came to the Jackson
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: House to meet the Jackson kids because he's always idolized Michael.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: First time I ever met Chris, but it was quick
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: and it was some Jackson. He probably thought I was
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: a Jackson kid, right. So I was in the I
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: was in there like I was in there doing whatever
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: they was doing. Hey, how are you. I think I
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: was switching it all up. I don't even know whatever
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: they was on. I was doing, yes, but hey, mister Brown,
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: are you because they talk real polite about everything, could
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: be cussing you out politely. So I'm sitting there with
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: them on some like whole other. I we all in there.
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: He's taking a picture and he's like in awe and
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: he's stars struck and I'm in there and I'm like, yeah,
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: I'm just blending in out and definitely the darkest one.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: And so anyway, so that happened, right. That was the
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: first time I met him. Then I met him through
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: Crump obviously, because he started to use Crump in everything,
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: and so he would come to our Crump arenas Doun
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: the Missus Obviously. Chris Brother was one of my best
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: friends now right all these years later, but back then
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: I didn't know. We didn't know each other. So he
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: was sitting there and he was going through the Crump arenas,
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: and he was like one of the only stars that
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: would actually show up to the Crump sessions. So it'd
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: be big Crump sessions with all these people doing its
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: Crump anas, and he would show up in battle on stage,
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: like all right, cool call out. So he would come
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: with britty with me ho and then was like ops.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: So for me, I'm like, ooh, he come with the ops.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: So I'm bumping into him on a dance tip. It's
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: still that, you know what I'm saying. It ain't so anyway,
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: back to the club. So we in the club. I
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: got all these bitches, No, we're doing all this. So
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: one day he like, damn, his table over there was
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: kind of dry. He like, yo, So I had a
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: chick that looked like a bagging now, laters, unbelievable. I'm
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: talking the next level, just an all pink star burst.
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: And so he was sitting there. He was looking because Chris,
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: you know, he if it's a bad bitch around, he
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: don't even he like what's going. So I'm like, yo,
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: see me. He look over and I don't even know.
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: I'm like that. I'm like, so I sent him go
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: go to his table. I don't even want you here.
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: So I'm trying to.
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: Like, see you want it.
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: I did. It didn't matter anyone Politiican right now, these
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: niggas ain't messing it. I was just like, yo, I'm
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: trying to he's my we're the same age. So he
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: looking at me like, who is this nigga with all
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: this motion? Because who am I?
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: So you send over the appetizer?
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: I send over there? So he like, damn he said
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: this type of frequency. So he over there. He like, okay,
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: you kind of respect, like a little bit like, oh
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: a nigga, send you a couple bad But you're like, okay,
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: who why we ain't be gonna be best friends. But
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: it's like so the next week, he don't come to
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: the table, don't come to the club. But I come
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: back to saying I'm back six Chames, hey, look, and
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: then his crew come, what's you're all my niggas now?
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: But back then it wasn't. So then I get there.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: I bought his table because they say he wasn't coming,
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: so I bought his table. So they come to his
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: table and they telling me like they telling me like, yo,
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: that's our table. Really, the homie chick was the one
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: pressing the line like this is my table. I'm like,
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: just say your fucking table? Fuck you talking about I
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: just cut to that. So I don't even know really
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: that that's his niggas. His cousin is Keys and Autumn
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: but we in it and we back and forth. So
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: she like, so he's stepping up for his girl. I'm like,
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: nigga woo. So we're now it's a whole fucking thing
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: between me and my niggas. Him keeps all these other niggas,
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: They're like ooh, So we get into it. I'm like,
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: what they do? What I'm saying? You know, I'm gangbanging. So
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: I'm doing this. I get right to I get right,
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: I go right back to South Central. I get right
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: back to that and mean what nigga wool? So I'm
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: dripping and they like what nigga bo. So it's back
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: and forth, and it's up because these niggas is Virginia, rowdy,
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: burnt out niggas, and plus a couple other niggas like
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: like Red. He had a couple of it, the hommy
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: Red and a couple other niggas. It's a couple of
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: buzz out here, different niggas. And he was sliding with
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: and they was there and I'm I'm payd we on
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: some show. It's up. So it's all kind of la
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: shit going on. So after that, I'm like, whoah, all right,
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: bet wool, and we don't bump into each other, nigga
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: because they came and broke it off. I wold, nigga,
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: we gonna wool, so we lead the club whatever. The
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: next day, Mark Pitts calls me the next day, right,
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: so I don't even not even thinking about nothing. So
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: I go into the studio Glenn Wood, and I walk in.
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: When I walk in, I walk by and all seven
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: of them niggas is sitting there in the lobby looking
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: at me like what the fuck? So when I walk up,
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: they hop up, they like, what's up with this nigga?
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: And I'm looking. I'm like, so I'm walking by this again,
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: and Mark like he come meet me in a lobby
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: like rock what up? So then they see Mark see
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: me and they know he the executive, so they're like
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: they kind of stop, like hold on, bro, like what
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: the fuck? So they on some shit. I'm on some shit.
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: I'm like yeah, So I tell Mark, I go in
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: the back. I ain't say nothing to Mark. I ain't
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: gonna lie. I ain't even tell him nothing. And he's
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: still to this day he talk to Mark Bnzy always
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: be like Yo, this nigga. He didn't even tell him nothing.
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: He takes me back to room see and glen Wood
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: and he tells me, all right, Rock, just try and
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: create something. You know what I'm saying. We working on Chris,
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: and just try and create something. And I'm like, all right,
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: shit whatever. So I go in there and I start
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: creating crazy shit, right. So the nigga come back in
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: like twelve minutes later, and he like, why the fuck
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: you didn't tell me you be beefing with these niggas.
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: You got in a fight with these niggas. Yes, So
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: Mark like, Rock, why you didn't tell me you got
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: in a fight with these And I'm like, but I
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: get to plan psychology. I'm like, so because I got
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: something going on with somebody's friends or posse or homies
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: that has something to do with an executive conversation. I
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: just told, you know, Chris. Then I start bringing up Chris,
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: like and did that. And then he like, listen, Rod,
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: I'm gonna go in there and I'm gonna shut it down.
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: Don't come out this room, and you just work, okay,
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: And I don't got time, So I'm like all right.
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: So I'm in the room, right and he don't come
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: back for like six hours. So I do five records like,
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: niggas do not even a song in a day. I
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: did five of them, bitches. So he come back in
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: the room and he's like, yo, you did you do anything.
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: I'm like anything. So the group so my bands who
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: is the engineer at the time who ended up being
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: my engineer for the whole album after that, he was
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: in there. He was like, Yo, this nigga just did
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: five songs. He was like, five songs. Hell no, bro,
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: I just did five song. He like, press play, So
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: I press play on this record call up Down that
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: you can google and actually see c B a first record.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: He actually cut him one. It's called up Down. I
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: did this record, and he like this is crazy. He like,
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: hold on, man, hold on, this is what I was
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: trying to tell niggas. So he walk out the room
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: and I'm like damn. So he go get Chris in
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: room A and Chris come walking in with fifty niggas.
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: Told me I'm talking about like fifty niggas, all the niggas.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: I got problems with the other niggas, the niggas that
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: they was in there talking shit with ten at Davis
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: seventh Streeter, all these niggas, right, So I'm like damn.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: So they come walking. They they're so thick that they
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: can't even fit through the studio door. That's how many
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: of them niggas. It was, and bitches. Everything they gave,
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: everybody came because they're like, let's see you with this niggas.
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: Ok So I press play. He marked like, hey, play
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: that last song. So I don't even look at them niggas.
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: I just turn around to the board and press play.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: And I'm like, you know that, and the way I'm
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: getting off, like as a dancer, like the way I
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: bob in the way I moved the shit. He was like,
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: oh like it immediately, but the shit was banging, so
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: he like, damn. So I turned like out the blue,
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: like you know, like thirty seconds later, I'm playing, and
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: that nigga back there like right, but the niggas behind
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: him is like Dave was not with nothing I was
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: talking about. So I'm like, damn. So he I see him,
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: He like, hey, bro, when it come out, he like
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: that's fight. He loaded up in the room. I'm like,
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: oh okay, so he take the record, go load it up.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: And then when he loaded it up, he like, whoa,
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: you come back? So I'm in there and Mark like
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: just keep working. So it's like twelve o'clock and I'm
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: instilled in there working. I did another like four records.
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: I'm like, this is I don't give I'm out working everybody, nigga,
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: I'm making hits. Fuck everybody, let's go. I'm looking shit
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: loaded up, knock it out. I'm free styling records. That's
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: how crazy I was going on these records. And then
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: so he like he come back in Chris like by himself.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: He like, hey, come listen to this. So I'm like
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: all right, So I go in the room, I go
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: listen to the record. And when I'm listening to the record,
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: I'm like damn. And so he played it. He like whoa, whoa.
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: And now these nigga's in there bobbing because they was
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: in there with him and they feel like they're part
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: of it there. So now everybody fucking with it now.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: And then so I'm in there, I come in. They
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: still got to stank attitude whatever, right, so so so
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: so basically he was like, yo, I love this record.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: D So he told Mark Markers like I told you
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: this nigga hot, and so he left you. When we
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: was leaving, he was like I'm about to go home.
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: But listen, bro, after I get off community service, like
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: meet me here like like come tomorrow, bro. I'm like
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: all right, for sure. Yeah, Chris tell me like come tomorrow. Yeah.
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: He's like at the community service like come tomorrow. I'm
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: like all right. Show. Oh so I tell Mark like, hey,
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: Chris told me to come tomorrow. Should I come? He like, yeah, nigga, come,
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: What the hell did you talk about? Come and stop
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: blindsiding me. I sat there and had to put my
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: neck in. Tina came over here and you to cuss
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: me out about you. I'm like, damn. So from there,
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: I came every day and every day I made hit
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: records until I made Find China, and then it was bad.
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: Then it was over. It's over, It's done. I mean crazily.
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: I did executive produced the like I'm from then where no,
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: But you know I went from executive produce. I went
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: from that album. So after Find China see Find China, see,
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: Chris was at a very different place. And this is
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: why me being in at Jackson House changed my life.
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: Because Find China changed my life. You understand what I'm saying.
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: That was the biggest record and It changed the radio,
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: and it made everybody think Michael Jackson had just died.
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: It made everybody. Even Janet Jackson called and said, this
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: is the closest thing I ever heard to my brother,
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: I need whoever produced this album to come do my album,
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: which is crazy because she didn't even know I was
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: dating her niece. She even know it was me. So
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: but that's a different story. But what I'm saying is fine.
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: China was so massive and it hit so hard that everybody.
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: Bruno Mars changed his sound. Everybody changed their sound and
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: went to that. Bruno Mars went from beautiful girls to
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: now everybody's in the eighties. I don't want no I'm like, oh,
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: so all y'all want to bring basslines to the radio.
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: I changed music guaranteed. So once Chris did find China.
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, Timberland walked in the room
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: and then me and Timberland was locked in for about
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: four months straight. Timberland is the reason I did the
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: stuff with Beyonce. With Beyonce flew me out to Jungle
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: City and he brought me to at least get Timberland
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: brought me to some different people because me and him
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: was super locked in so but he came to the
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: camp late after the album was damn, they're done, and
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: he was like he heard find China, stopped the music
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: and said, listen, this is the craziest shit. What the
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: fuck is happening? Who did this? And they was like, oh,
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: Chris and Allen was like that nigga. He was like, nigga,
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: you are not normal. Oh for show they're like you.
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: But at that time I was at I was in
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: the camp, his friends, it became my best friends, his cousin,
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: my cousin. We all together, We at the clubs together,
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: were moving around. I played Autumn Leaves for Rihanna and
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: she cried, oh he played at at least for Rihanna.
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: She cried niggas like, I can't like. The records were
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: so vicious that it was like people couldn't believe that
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: niggas was creating this level of music. And that was
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: my time to shine. That was my time to show
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: the industry through the biggest artists in the world, that
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: I was. And so that record Fine China changed everything
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: because I went from that to executive producing this album.
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: I did not I did. I did ten records on
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: X on that album, and I named the album X
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: with Diplo, Me, Diplo, Chris. We did the X, but
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: we actually named the album X off this record that
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: we did called X and it was life. That was
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: life changing for me. That record changed my life. And
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: then I went from that to doing j Lo's album,
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: Fergie album, Usher, Rihann, everybody you could think of it
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: just domino effect. Once they knew, oh he's him, and
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: the executives can get around it no more. Once show
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: artists are requested me, who did that? Well, who's the
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: nigga that's always with Chris? Who's the nigga that just
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: did that? Brought him? Because Chris Brown was in a
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: place where nobody was trying to hear his shit no more. Yeah,
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: there wasn't fucking with him. And then I said, well,
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: why don't we do a Jackson record that is going
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: to remind the world, like Michael Jackson was getting in
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: bullshit every day, dude, whack old jack Oh this is this.
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: But when he pressed play, oh, that ship went out
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: the window. And we do a Michael record. And so
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: when he did that, you know, he took a risk
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: and he did the Michael record. They was right back
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: on his dick.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: So now that we've gotten your full scope and your
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: tipping points. Yeah, and I like that. I like that
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: you got a little black listed in between. That's crazy.
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: Tried after that it became bad. They couldn't do it on.
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: Now you've been a successful Now became my best friend. Yeah.
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: Now they're all your best friends, know.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: Yeah, all of those ones. That was all they was
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: doing this. Who's on the phone, Oh yeah, tell him
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: email me. They was doing that. Damn same niggas is
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: hitting my line sixty dollars, my latist saying, is there
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: can I get? Oh? Oh is this the same nigga
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: that I didn't believe in me? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: I'm a link. Oh yeah, send them through. I'm dumb
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: talking the niggas crazy too, don't get it twisted. I'm
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: letting them. I'm reminding them that they didn't believe back then.
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: But because I'm a scorpios, I can't. You can't forget. Yeah,
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: you can't forget. I'm not gonna let you forget. But
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: now I'll get over it. But you won't forget.
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: I believe it. I'm very fair scorpios.
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: But now now that you're you're you're killing it in
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: the music game. You're also tapping into the entrepreneur game.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: You're doing that. I guess we're not going to talk
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: about your ar.
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: About skipping up till now. Yeah. Well yeah, now we
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: now we thirteen Grammys later, and we just want to build.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: No, thirteen thirteen. I thought I was fifteen.
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: No, I was at eleven, and then we're up for
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: three right now, Okay, a fourteen. Yeah, that's that's all
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: what I'm saying. That's a hundred million records.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: We're here, We're here, yeah, right, over time. But I
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: just want to make sure that I cover just kind
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: of the today's standpoint, like what's going on with you? Now?
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: We got rock.
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: Wireless, Yeah, Rockstar Wireless, ros Star Wireless.
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: Yeah, well yeah, because you got a transition. So making
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: millions of dollars and becoming a mogul in music gets
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: you to a place, right, And that made all my
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: some of my best friends, like flow Rider and different
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: people that support me. Me and floor Rider used to
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: sleep on the floor at Davonte's swing studio. Yeah, if
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: you talked to floor Rider and be like you used
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: to sleep on the floor at Me and flow Rider
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: used to sleep on the floor at Davonte's swing studio
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: and we were sharing burgers and Sharon Fries and shit
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: like that. He got discovered, went to Miami and I
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: think signed a trick that year, one of them out
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: the blue. But we was all there, broke, busted in discussion.
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: This is why floor Rider is one of my best
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: friends in the world. And it just killed that that
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: ninety million dollar deal with Celsius and all that time heat.
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: That's one of my best friends. I love floor Rider
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: to death. But we came from the bottom together. But
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: a lot of the people that I came up with
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: and when I became a mogan whatever situate, they support
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: me on a different scale because they've really seen what
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: I went through to become something bigger and so tech.
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: I've always been in a tech it was my passion forever.
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: Like we won the CS Award for Most Innovative Technology
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: in twenty thirteen for the dual screen cell phone. Me
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: and my partner Darius Allen, which I partnered in Rockster
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: Wireless with was creating cell phones, selling cell phones, tablets
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: with the projectors, doing stuff that people couldn't do early,
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: and so I stick to the same code I start
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: with you, I'm finished, but still my partner in things
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: that we do all day. I was doing tech since
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: I figured that tech was what's next, Crypto was what's next.
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: I had a million dollars in crypto. I had million
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: dollars in bitcoin when bitcoin was two thousand dollars. My
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: boy DA put me up on a play. I made
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: million dollars in bitcoin early. So I was on plays
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: everything tech early, and I was always in it, and
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: I was just honing creating. And so that's how I
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: kind of got into tech. Because music will make you
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: a certain amount of money, but it's a gateway drug.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: And the problem is people stay in music forever. Catalog
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: publishing all that. That's cool, but it's limited. I take that.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: I've used that gateway drug to get into a much
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: bigger atmosphere, and I use the connections and the people
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: I've built this world with to This is how beats
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: By Dre becomes a four billion dollar company. You take
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: Jimmy Iveen starts dabbling in tech, he takes the doctor
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: dres and now here it's the influence of this. So
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: Chris Brown one hundred and fifty six million followers on
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: just one platform. If that's your people and he pushes
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: a button, you now, even if it's just ten percent,
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: you got fifteen million users on a platform, you could
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: already sell the platform just off them users at one percent,
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: one point five million users on a platform. So once
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: I started to understand and extra strategies, how to do
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: reverse mergers and the shell companies, how to do pink sheets,
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: how to sit there and run stocks from the top
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: to the bottom, how to really understand the crypto markets,
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: the NFT markets, how to mint, how to understand floors,
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: where Ethereum went, where this is it? Solana all the coins?
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: How to go through different situations. I study things and
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: once I started understanding where the money was, I started
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: to create tech companies on a scale that's like okay, music,
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: tech influence all in one situation. Then that's how I
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: got Rockstar Wireless. Did it with the head of T Mobile,
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: Dan Thigerson, Mike Seffert and all of them, and they
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: came in, They're like, yo, we support we don't have
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: any minority NB and os let's tag team. So we
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: locked in with them. Did that, did the biggest deal.
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: We're the only black owned cell phone company and that's worldwide,
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: and we have better rates than everybody else. Yeah, rasing
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: everybody now.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: And now we know that I'm going to get a
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: second line. Oh yeah, get you a second oneless.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: As you know, Mint Mobile just sold for one point
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: four billion. That's how Ryan got his one point four billion,
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: as he would have had to do a lot of
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: movies to get that. But you know that tech takes
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: you somewhere else. I also have Trinity Social, which TikTok
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: is going out of style and they're about to get banned.
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: So we created a social media platform that encompasses all
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: of the platforms into one platform. That's why it's called Trinity.
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: It's like the Father, the son Hoole. It's like all
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: of the things in one is the Trinity. And so
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: it's called Trinity Social. And we have a version of
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: Clubhouse in there, a version of OnlyFans in there. We
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: have everything that Instagram gives you from feeds, you can monetize,
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: go lot, everything all inside one social media app. And
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: so that's next stuff as well as loaded right now
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: in your app store, download Trinity Social. You'll love it
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: if you're tired of paying however much you're paying, and
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: people paying three four five hundred dollars on cell phone bills.
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: You can come to Rockstar wireless we given nineteen ninety nine. Like,
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: I don't know what you want to do. I don't
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: know if you beat that I pay for it.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: Wh at coming to play my phone way too hot,
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: So we gotta gotta go.
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: And so I've been building heavy tech companies and running
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: plays and now I'm kind of the bridge between tech
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: companies and the music business. It's impossible to get to
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: a Chris Brown, it's impossible to get to a Jennifer Lopez.
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: It's and possible to get to a Fergie or a
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: Prince Royce or even like certain basketball players certain and
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: they're all my best friend. Like there's people I'm day
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: to day with. So I bridge gaps between even other
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: companies that I rock with, and we bridge gaps so
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: that their companies can scale a lot faster than the
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: traditional marketing of strategies, because that's really the new marketing strategy.
- 1:34:52Speaker 3: Like influencers and so I have, you know, kind of
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: ignorant amount of them, and so we go crazy and
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: we're all friends, Like I only mess with people that
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: I like, And so that's the whole situation, and I've
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: just been scaling and just building from there. And that's
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: how I you know, coming from nothing to something I
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: saw that really happened. And when I tell somebody, I
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: really was sleeping coming from nothing, that's something I really
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: built it break by brick by brick by step.
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: I think we just learned that just now. Hell Broke's
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: head to lit to to really lit.
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: So wealthy, I would say more wealthy.
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: I'm still rich. I feel like I need to get
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: to I'm getting to wealthy once I exit you know,
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: two or three of these companies or even one of
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: even one of them, Uh, you know, it's going to
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: be a wealthy situation. But until then, I would say
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: rich because you know, for me, uh, until you're nine
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: ten figures, until you're in a one hundred million range,
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: like ten figures. Yeah, I touched ten figures in terms
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: of deals, but that's ten million, nine million. I know
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: that's a million eleven minute. But you're talking about people
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: are out here running around with billions and billions and
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: hundreds of me. So it's like for me, I'm still
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: I'm gonna get to where I need to get. I'm
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: like I'm pushing buttons. You know what I'm saying on
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: a different scale, And that's why I've set things up
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: to make sure that the exit strategies are built. Do
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: not build anything in your life and without an exit strategy,
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: and that's how you set yourself up for failure. And
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: when you learn how to build an exit strategy and
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: anything it is, you don't want to be tied to
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: something forever like that, get you know, unless it's now.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: I'm not talking about people, the girl, you know whatever, family,
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: love and friends and that's different. But I'm talking about
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: companies because they're stressful. You build them, do it, and
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: then you let somebody become the machine and move and
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: you either sit back and just get residuals forever, or
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: you put it in a place where it's gone and
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: you win and you can relax. It's about buying an
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: island and you know, growing your own fruit, stuff like that.
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: But yeah, you know, nothing is something is a real thing.
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: For me, it is and well, I just want to
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: thank you so much for cooking for me. Oh yeah,
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: and probably hands down one of the best storytellers, most animated.
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: I loved hearing your story and thank you so much
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: for taking time out of your day of course to
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: come down here.
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I appreciate you. I'm sycause oh yeah, I'm the
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: AI goggles too.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: He got the A I got and I'm obsessed with as.
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: So you know, I'm gonna be.
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: We got a bunch of different stuff.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: Your I could be your test, the person that tests,
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: because I'll keep it.
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: But if you pass out, I don't know what to
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: I'm just.
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: You know, but I'm saying like I could be like
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: the critical reviewer. I'll be like, I'll keep it all
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: the way real, no filter.
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: I'm gonna see. I just created a pet s D
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: program through sound therapy through frequent ancient frequencies like war
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: drums and waterfall and stuff. And I'll give you that
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: and see how you feel after going through like the
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: ptsd UH sound frequency. It's to to to calm like
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: for really for the military, for people that are overseas,
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: to calm their nerves when they're in the middle of Iraq.
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: You can zone out and jump into you know or
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: wherever you're at, jumping to a frequency therapy program that
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: actually is a real therapeutic situation that's happening, and you
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: can you know, select being wherever you want to be
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: on a beach or you know, wherever. And it's real time,
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: it's real, it's heavy, it's.
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: Crazy to try it. And I'm gonna be a reviewer.
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: Yeah, please be a hard reviewer.
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: I'm going to be excited about it too.
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: Yeah. And then the tech ain't gonna stop, so you
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: just stay tuned. I got I'm coming up with a
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: lot of stuff create please do Yeah, rock star follow
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: me of course, rock star music R O C C
