- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the High Level White Podcast.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I'm Chelsea Holm, your hostess, and here we do marriage God's way.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: And I'll tell you, so sorry.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Just got a text from for someone coming and fixing our uh shower.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Anyway, currently our house is empty, except for the stuff that we're keeping here for the two weeks until we officially move to Kentucky.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Um but we have now we're in the phase of repairs and refreshing and deep cleaning before our tenants get here.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Um, so anyway, lots of moving parts, but nonetheless, I wanted to talk about uh patience in suffering.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: So I was getting a little frustrated the other day because of just some some personal struggles that I was having um and like frustration of like, why isn't this happening yet?
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: And like just that mentality of like, oh my gosh, how long is this going to take?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: I think that's a uh what is that movie with gosh, it's got Chris Chris Rock and it's um the one with the zoo animals out of Africa?
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: That's not right.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: What is that movie with the animals?
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: It's like the zebra and the lion and the hippo and the giraffe.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And there's like the lemurs.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what's it called?
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: I'm bringing phoning a friend here.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: King Julian?
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, King Julian, but yeah, what's the movie called?
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Dang, we can't think of what the movie's called.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: All right, well, if you knew what the movie's called, then then you can weigh on it.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: I'm sure it'll probably come to me at three in the morning and then I'll be like, oh yeah, that's what it was.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Okay, anyway.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Um, why was I talking about that?
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, it's because he's like, How long is this going to take?
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: So that's kind of how I was feeling the other day about this this struggle.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: And um, I'm not gonna share it personally now because the Lord is doing the work and we have not gotten across the finish line, and God's timing is not mine, and I am being patient.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: But this is this is how like God gives you exactly what you need for when you need it.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: But the only way that you're going to receive it is if you are going to Him and asking, What do I need?
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Please give it to me.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Help me.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: I think my prayers in my journal so often are just like, Lord, help me.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Spirit, help me.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: And it was one of those moments.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: And um, right now I think I'd shared, you know, I'm reading some Old Testament, I'm reading um Acts, I'm reading um one of the you know epistles, and and James is what I was reading.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: James is awesome, by the way.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: So much meat to chew on, and it's my style, it's totally like a punch in the face, and it's good.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: So I want to read to you James 5, starting in verse 7, where it says, Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it until it receives the early and the late rains.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: You also be patient.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: I felt like I was like, Lord, you write.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: So you also be patient, establish your hearts for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Behold, the judge is standing at the door.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Behold, we consider those blessed who remain steadfast.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: How the Lord is compassionate and merciful.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: And so, what God spoke to me and gave to me in that moment that I desperately needed was a reminder of be patient, reminding me of remaining steadfast and how important that is, but also that I am going to see the purpose of the Lord, and that while I'm waiting, to remember that God is compassionate and He is merciful.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: And why am I stepping in as judge and juror trying to move along things that it's not up to me?
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: It's not up to me.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: And so I didn't know how many of you wives need this reminder today to be patient, to wait upon the Lord to remain steadfast, to know fully, wholeheartedly that you are going to see the purpose of the Lord, the greater purpose here.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: And in the meantime, to emulate his compassion and mercy to those around you, especially your husband, right?
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Because doing the opposite of those things, being impatient, right?
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Not being steadfast, right?
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Being wishy-washy and forceful of not being compassionate, but instead judging and not being merciful, again, being quick to withhold mercy.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: This is not how we wait.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: It reminded me of the passage.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Oh, is it in Corinthians, where it talks about old wine and nude wine, right?
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: If you put new wine into old wineskins, it will cause the old wineskins to burst.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: So that's why you have to put new wine in new wineskins.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: So just for your own growth and for those around you, often we're old wineskins.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: God has new growth for us, but it takes time that only he can understand the intricacies of so that we don't burst, so that we don't explode, right?
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Like we're kind of slow and hard-headed.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Sometimes things take a while because God in his goodness and grace and his mercy and his compassion knows that.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: So be patient.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Be patient, waiting for precious fruit.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Expecting early rains and late rains.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Establish your hearts.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: We live, we live in a world that says follow your hearts.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: God's word says the heart is deceitful above all things.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: He says, Establish your heart.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: To me, that says settle your heart.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Deeply rooted and grounded in the love of Christ, anchored into his truth.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: So if you're like me, let's just leave it with this.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Do not grumble against one another, okay?
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: So if you've got a heart of grumbling today, let this be your reminder.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Go open your Bible, read James 5, verses 7 through 11, and let it take root in your heart.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Let the Holy Spirit minister to you and give you what you need.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Thank God for his goodness and mercy and grace to give you exactly what you need when you need it.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: So that you can calm your butt down or let your butt be calmed down, and you can sit down and praise God rather than trying to rush the process and damage.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Bring damage of and bursting wineskins.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Instead, be patient, sister.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: I will see you on the next episode.
