- 0:11SPEAKER_02: Phil's just suggested that me and him go on a boyfriend trip to Aldi today.
- 0:16SPEAKER_04: W we well, you added with our daughter, but I don't think that makes it any better.
- 0:23SPEAKER_04: You're looking very left out, so we better start talking hockey.
- 0:27SPEAKER_04: It's episode six.
- 0:28SPEAKER_04: How how are you?
- 0:30SPEAKER_04: You look a bit on the closet, we've just been giving you some stick.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: No, I'm not on the closet.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: I've had a very busy week up until now.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: And I'm ready to rumble.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: How about you guys?
- 0:42SPEAKER_04: We're recording on a Wednesday afternoon, so we can't be that busy, can we?
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's true.
- 0:49SPEAKER_04: Um some results from the weekend.
- 0:52SPEAKER_04: Should we get straight into that?
- 0:53SPEAKER_04: UP, how did you how did you get on?
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: We're kind of uh fucking up at the moment.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: We drew Schawey last week, which was um like a bit of a hiccup.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: And then now we drew the boss at home, which is not a bad team, like far from it.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: But we should really should have won.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: And now we're we lost four points in two games, and in our competition, you you need every point you can get.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: So um, am I already boring you, Brendan?
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: No, I see you yawning.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm just tired.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Well, let's talk about your guys' fun competition, which no one watches.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: How did Serbiton against Rock Rovers?
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: How was it?
- 1:41SPEAKER_04: Sorry, you just to add on, like I obviously am supporting OR watching the highlights.
- 1:46SPEAKER_04: Looked like a really good atmosphere though this weekend.
- 1:48SPEAKER_04: You had a lot of people there.
- 1:49SPEAKER_04: That was one of your Saste 430 games.
- 1:52SPEAKER_04: Was it nice to play in?
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but the the yeah, it was nice, but the it's a really um, I don't know if you guys have this problem in England, um, because the sun never shines there, but at 4:30, this like the second half, I couldn't see shit.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: Like the sun was right, like, like, like right in my face the whole game.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: So they threw a couple of aerials, and like you see it, you see it, and ah fuck, you don't see it anymore.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: And now you're fucked.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: So I had a couple of moments which I was like, like didn't really know what was happening when the ball was in the air, but like other than that, it was really good.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: Like, there was a lot of uh crowd, which which in OR's defense, there's always a lot of crowd there, we're always uh well uh well watched, so but it was a good uh good atmosphere.
- 2:41SPEAKER_04: Nice, and um Shona McCallan, our executive producer, anyone with an eagle eye watching the hoof class highlights this this week would see um OR scored a lovely routine behind the back, but Shona pointed out that UP de Mol is now a walk-in injector.
- 3:00SPEAKER_04: If anyone doesn't know what that means, it means he stands a couple of metres away from the ball and he and he walks in into like a push, walk-in push.
- 3:10SPEAKER_04: I don't know for anyone who doesn't know what that is, I don't know if I've explained that right at all.
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: But um, it's something to be maybe a little bit laughed at.
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: We've we've laughed at people for it in the past.
- 3:19SPEAKER_04: But you what what what have you got to say for yourself?
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Well, two things.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: I never made fun of it.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: You can check the tape.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: You guys are the ones who made fun of it.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: That's one.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: It does in in my defense.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: I tried it a couple times for fun and training, and then everybody was like, Oh, it's it's like really uh fast, it goes really hard.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: So then we were like, Oh no, why not if it goes that fast?
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: So I would love to say that I don't give a shit what everybody else thinks, but it's not completely true.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: I will I I kind of do care what people think of me, to be honest.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: So it might have been my one and only time doing it.
- 4:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but it worked.
- 4:06SPEAKER_04: Well, Brendan wanted to make this a shit or hit, so Brendan, shit or hit.
- 4:11SPEAKER_04: So shit.
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: Whether or not it works, it it's so shit.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I just think I I completely disagree.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: I think it's a hit, it works.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: I already look fabulous just by by looking like by being me.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: I I like okay, if you would do it, Brendan.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: I it would look really, really are you fucking yawning again?
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm tired of your shit.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: All I'm saying is I can handle looking a little shit because I look so good.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Brendan couldn't because he looks shit.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: That was my point.
- 4:50SPEAKER_04: Brendan, maybe we you've got to try it now.
- 4:52SPEAKER_04: Would you like to do that?
- 4:53SPEAKER_04: I tried it in training yesterday.
- 4:54SPEAKER_04: Did you?
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: How'd it go?
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: It's so shit.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: No, it's the same speed, whether I do the walking or without it.
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: So I'm like, there's no point doing the walk-in.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: Well, then you're doing something wrong.
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: Nah, I'm I'm not gonna get into the technical side of it because um it's not it's not for now.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: I thought I'd just quickly have we I'm not sure if we've already done this, but I just thought I'd quickly test us both.
- 5:16SPEAKER_04: Um, sorry, I don't know if anyone cares about this.
- 5:20SPEAKER_04: We played our first game of phase three, for anyone who has a clue what that is.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: Um, Holcomb, my team, beat uh Hampstead 1-0 in an absolutely terrible game where the officiating was was was at an all-time low, as was the hockey, so kind of like matched uh, you know, equaled each other out.
- 5:37SPEAKER_04: Brendan uh for Serbiton beat Oxtead 3-2, and for them, that's a that's a pretty shaky result, to be honest, to tell you the truth.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: Um, Brendan, you got anything else to report on that one?
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: I would say that the hockey and the umpiring was exactly probably the same as yours, to be honest with you.
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: 3-2 was a uh I wouldn't necessarily say fair reflection, but that fourth quarter was absolutely yeah, it was not great by us, but yeah, it's very similar to very similar to your game, I think.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: Just officiating is shite, but we also didn't play well.
- 6:11SPEAKER_04: So and yeah, and then I thought I'd just quickly ask, who is your favorite team to play?
- 6:17SPEAKER_04: Up, who's your favorite team to play in the Hoof classer, and who's your least favorite team to play in the Hoof classer?
- 6:22SPEAKER_04: And Brendan, who's your favorite team to play in the English Prem and who's your least favorite?
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm I'm gonna answer your question um in in a second, because you guys are talking about officiating.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Um, in my game, the officiating as well was fucking atrocious.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Sometimes I'm just have a feeling they're just guessing.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: They're like, Yeah, just flip a coin, it's one one or the other.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: They don't, they don't it looks like they don't give a shit and they don't have a clue sometimes.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Like, I got a yellow card on Sunday.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you guys saw that.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: No, you got yellow, yeah.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, hey, hey side note Billy Big Boss or Billy Big Boss right here.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: No, it wasn't it was it was I think that one was actually I in the moment I thought it was like really not fair, but it was kind of fair.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: But like the boss scored, Hayward scored a goal, and I always get on like very well with Hayward.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: I don't mind him, I think he's he's he's okay.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: But he scored and he was like like he was like cheering in my face a bit, and then his with his shoulder.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: So I gave him like a little like it, like a four-year-old who would push away another four-year-old.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: Like, hey, don't do that, like you push away your broad.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Like, I did something, something of a push towards him, like, hey, go away.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: Which it actually kind of surprised me because he's he's he's he's kind of like built, and he he almost fell over.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: So I felt pretty good about myself.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: But more than boss players like pushed me in the back, and then I got a yellow, and he and Hayward got a yellow.
- 7:53SPEAKER_04: What did Hayward get yellow for then?
- 7:55SPEAKER_04: For screaming in your face.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: My point.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: Referees don't have a fucking clue.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: They just like, yeah, both of yours behavior was not okay.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: Both are yellow.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: And Hayward was also like, Hey, but I didn't I didn't do shit.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: You know what you did.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: So I was like, we were on the we were like on the on the naughty and naughty bench, and we were there looking at each other, like what actually happened, like nothing was like we weren't fighting or anything, was just a bit of an emotion.
- 8:25SPEAKER_04: That's actually really funny, but I mean you pilly, you know, bad boy you've is coming out.
- 8:30SPEAKER_04: I did see that on the highlights, but I didn't realise you got a yellow card for it.
- 8:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I also got a yellow card on the weekend.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, so you know, matching up with 30 seconds to go when we're trying to beat as big a shit as as possible.
- 8:45SPEAKER_04: Um, I had the ball in the corner for about two minutes and I think angered a fair amount of them.
- 8:51SPEAKER_04: I then like fouled Oatesy, one of their players.
- 8:55SPEAKER_04: I then ran away with my arms up.
- 8:57SPEAKER_04: Um he meanwhile took the ball and ran it into me.
- 9:02SPEAKER_04: Like, and then the umpire decided to give me a yellow card.
- 9:09SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I was a bit baffled by it, but there was only like 30 seconds to go, so I was kind of like, okay, that's fine.
- 9:16SPEAKER_04: Um, Barry Middleton also um decided to rugby tackle Rupert Schipley with five minutes to go on the edge of our own box, and the umpire thought that was absolutely legal.
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: So, I mean there was there was there was a barrage of crazy stuff going on.
- 9:29SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, I mean this quite it's just just quite funny.
- 9:33SPEAKER_04: Well, we got to a point where like this has happened a few times this year, where both teams in the in the game aren't getting angry anymore, they're just talking to each other about how bad the umpiring is.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: So that's always good fun.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's great.
- 9:46SPEAKER_04: So, Brendan, on to my question.
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, favourite team to play.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Most favourite team to play, and least favourite to be honest, any of the top five minus OGs I quite enjoy playing against because it's just a good game of hockey and they want to play hockey.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: OGs aren't in that bracket.
- 10:07SPEAKER_04: Wimbledon, Hampstead, or Holcomb.
- 10:11SPEAKER_04: Holcomb.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, not top five.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: Uh least enjoyable to play would either be OGs Oxtead.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: Probably those two, because you just get whacked the shit out of, and it's just not a very enjoyable game of hockey.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: Um, just a lot of like, yeah, shit owsry, but not the good shit owsry, like the bad shit owsry.
- 10:35SPEAKER_04: I mean what's classified as good shithouses?
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: Good shit owsry is uh stuff that makes you laugh when you look back at it and you think that's actually quite funny, like fair play.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: Like if you were in that situation, you'd probably do the same thing.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: So, like, for example, giving away a free hit and picking the ball up and just walking back a few paces, that's good shit hoursy.
- 10:55SPEAKER_02: Whereas I think a lot of the stuff that they do, like like Wardie's like a prime example of like will seek a foul so much that he'll run out of his way to try and get the foul and then dive.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: And then you've got four OGs players running up to the umpire asking for cards.
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: I'm like, nah, that's not a thing.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, they're they're probably that's probably my like bracket of enjoyable versus well, who I like to play and who I don't like to play.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: What about you?
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: Go to you.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was I was thinking, and I like I like playing games which which which matter, so in the hope cluster right now it's every game, but I like I like playing um playing kampong or blumedau or or whatever because it's you feel like it's a big game.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: But I don't like like I was thinking the other day, I don't like any team in the HOF cluster, except for what I wrote.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: I think kampong is a is a are a bunch of fucked arts, Blumenau are a bunch of dicks.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Like I don't I really don't like any team in the Hov cluster right now.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: Like when I'm at national team, I like them.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: I think they're good guys, and I I can actually have fun with them.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: I like them, but as soon as they they they put put on a kampong jersey, for instance, I just they fucking annoy me by uh this so do I enjoy playing them?
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I enjoy it because it's a good game and they're good hockey players.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: But when they're in a kampong shirt or in a blue medal shirt, I just don't fucking like most of them.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: Fair enough.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: Do you have a top top one that you dislike?
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: Uh I dislike kampong the most, but that's also because they're winning everything right now.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: But I just don't, I just uh I just don't really like them.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, don't know why.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: It's just a gut feeling that like I you you you guys are a bunch of idiots.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: The second one I don't like is the boss because they're like close.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: I just think again, just a feeling bunch of dipshits.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: And three would probably go to there's a lot of honorable mentions there, but I think I I actually and to be honest, I kind of like Blumenau because there's a lot of friends of mine who are playing at Blumenau, so I kind of like them.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: But three would probably be oh, fucking Caget are also a bunch of idiots.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, that's fair, but on the other hand, Hagash and Pinoquet, they're also don't really it's like a close third with like those two or something, those three.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: You know which know which team is really nice in the over-class this year?
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: It's Fordan.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: You guys have no clue.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: It's like they they they just got promoted.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: They are really, really shit, but they know they are really, really shit.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: They don't really care, they just like that they're in the hove class.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: They may they don't they're not a bunch of dicks that just want to play hockey.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: They accept that they lose 10-nil occasionally, they accept that sometimes they can actually like make it a bit of a game, but they're never they never shout at ref or whatever, they just have fun after the the game.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: They give you beer, it's like good fun.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: It's like that's I love it.
- 14:04SPEAKER_04: That's good chat.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Good fun.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: I don't no one probably listens, no one cares that much about hockey that they're listening to a hockey podcast there, but for Dan, you're killing it.
- 14:15SPEAKER_04: I'll put in my two cents.
- 14:17SPEAKER_04: I think I have a bit of a contradiction because I really, really dislike playing Oxtead.
- 14:24SPEAKER_04: Um, they have a a classic UP.
- 14:28SPEAKER_04: Um, they've got a school pitch, um, it's a terrible pitch.
- 14:32SPEAKER_04: They film from behind a net, so you can't watch the game back.
- 14:36SPEAKER_04: Uh we played there, it's rock hard, it was unenjoyable, they like to get really physical, also like chirp away like they're really good when they're not, and that's a bit annoying.
- 14:47SPEAKER_04: Um, and we lost we lost there, which was just a terrible, terrible time.
- 14:53SPEAKER_04: Now, on the other side is that again, this will baffle you, but they have a clubhouse which is at uh it's like some it's kind of a mix between like an Indian restaurant and a pub, and we we rocked up there and we were like, okay, what why are we here?
- 15:08SPEAKER_04: What's going on, right?
- 15:10SPEAKER_04: And they and then they brought out this plate of chicken, and it was one of the best plates of chicken I've ever had.
- 15:17SPEAKER_04: It was like Nando's on steroids.
- 15:19SPEAKER_04: And I was like, okay, I might take all of that shit day for this chicken.
- 15:26SPEAKER_04: So, like, I don't want them to get relegated because I hope we play them away next year and I can deal with the whole scenario again, but then get the chicken at the end of it.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: Well, they're not relegated, are they?
- 15:37SPEAKER_04: No, I'm just yeah, but sorry, they're not relegated, but you know, that's the reason I hope they stay up.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: Um I would love to play one year in England just so I can like I think it would be like like it's it's like a it's like a like a car crash, your competition.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: It's really bad, but still you're like kind of enjoy watching what's happening.
- 16:02SPEAKER_04: We've got really into our like this.
- 16:04SPEAKER_04: Was meant to just be the news, but I mean let's just crack on, I guess.
- 16:08SPEAKER_04: Um I wanted to bring up you, but I mean, on this point is that one of the English clubs uh a couple of weeks ago tried to make hockey more professional, more semi-pro, kind of the stuff we've been talking about.
- 16:22SPEAKER_04: Southgate hockey club decided to have this super Saturday where they got like some live music, uh like a pizza van, they tried to advertise it as well as possible.
- 16:32SPEAKER_04: It was probably just like a standard day and a hoof class of game, but you know, like apparently like around 800 people turned up.
- 16:40SPEAKER_04: They had the women's ones play, then the men's ones.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: They kind of televised it, they had a live stream, they had 4,000 people tune in on the live stream, they had commentators, and I just saw it on Twitter the other day and I thought that's awesome.
- 16:54SPEAKER_04: They did this kind of like cool compilation video of it all.
- 16:58SPEAKER_04: Um, I just wanted to kind of say kudos to Southgate for doing that type of thing because it's like something very rare in England, and like that type of thing would be really cool to see.
- 17:09SPEAKER_04: I think other clubs could do it.
- 17:10SPEAKER_04: I think Serbiton could for sure they surbit and kind of try without maybe like a little bit less effort, but Holcombe could definitely do it, Beaston could do it.
- 17:18SPEAKER_04: So I think people should get on that bandwagon.
- 17:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I thought it was pretty, I thought it was pretty cool.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: Um, I think it's like everything that we've been like asking people to do, they they kind of like they did it obviously, they didn't do it because of us, but they were doing it anyway.
- 17:31SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, I think it's really cool.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: I think it's awesome as well because they're not a premise.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: I think it shows that it can be done, it just requires a bit of effort.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Um and it'd be nice to see more clubs make an effort like that for sure.
- 17:45SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 17:45SPEAKER_04: So, on top of what we talked about last week, where if anyone's tuned in, we talked about the all or nothing.
- 17:51SPEAKER_04: I wanted to just like kind of do a bit of a finisher there because I spoke to a couple of people this week and we talked around like oh, all or nothing would be cool, but then we went quite kind of deep into you know other sports and what we're lacking.
- 18:05SPEAKER_04: But actually, I thought, what would happen if they actually filmed, just for example, you sorry about this, but they're gonna do an all or nothing season with the GB men's hockey team, and then I thought, what would be the really cool things that they'd see, or maybe the really amateur things that the viewers would see that would make people be like, oh, that's pretty interesting.
- 18:23SPEAKER_04: Um, so before you two can chip in, I'll give you some time to think.
- 18:28SPEAKER_04: I wrote down a couple of things that maybe I thought would be pretty funny to funny for the for the viewers to see.
- 18:35SPEAKER_04: Uh, first of all, I think like changing rooms or lack of changing rooms uh in our facility or like following us to club games and some of the stuff that you laughs at us for.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: It's like a kind of a welcome to Wrexham.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: Have anyone seen that on Disney Plus like style stuff where the coach is in there, everyone's hunkered shoulder to shoulder?
- 18:52SPEAKER_04: I think that'd be pretty funny to see.
- 18:54SPEAKER_04: When we're away on away trips, you know, following our card games, our corridor cricket.
- 18:58SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you do anything like that, you do like play corridor cricket or cards when you're away with or when you wrote, or like no, I guess but either national team.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: We play a shit ton of cards when we're away.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: We discussed this with like the the assignments and the punishments when you lose.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, of course.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're you're acting like you guys are like king of cards while you are like not even close.
- 19:27SPEAKER_04: Well, I apologize.
- 19:28SPEAKER_04: That's that's obviously so that's a sore subject.
- 19:31SPEAKER_04: Let's just say the Dutch team with a king of cards.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: But we've never played corridor cricket, which sounds fabulous.
- 19:38SPEAKER_04: Do you know actually?
- 19:39SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, it's about as basic as it sounds, but basically, wherever the space, whenever we go on a trip, someone brings some stumps and a ball, and you use your hockey stick, and it gets quite competitive.
- 19:51SPEAKER_04: You can add electrical tape to a tennis ball to make the ball swing, like it does in in real cricket, and you can get real feisty.
- 19:59SPEAKER_04: Brendan, Brendan normally gets involved in this and is terrible, which is quite funny.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: Uh no, actually, fair all right, I'll check.
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: I agree with that, Phil.
- 20:10SPEAKER_04: You used to be really, really bad.
- 20:11SPEAKER_04: Now you've improved really, really bad.
- 20:14SPEAKER_04: You've improved quite well.
- 20:16SPEAKER_04: Not so much.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: We don't we don't we don't play cordock cricket because we don't know cricket in Holland.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: We play uh one bounce, or you got one ball, one bounce, one touch.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: One touch, one bounce.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that shitty thing, and we call it just one bounce.
- 20:36SPEAKER_04: Um I mean do you do you guys think that would be good for a camera crew to come and view us doing that, or is that just boring?
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: Well for the Olympics in 2016, they were like everywhere.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: So when we played cards, uh halftime meetings, they actually filmed meetings of um of like the uh the coaching discussions when they were discussing the selection and stuff.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: So they were actually saying, Oh yeah, he's 100% a better player than him, and that actually got aired on TV.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Wow, that's pretty uh pretty uh pretty good.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: Um the documentary was called uh pushing for gold, and they ended up uh in fourth, which was good.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: So it was really uh, but it was actually really cool.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: It was like a really cool, it was like a six six episode documentary on uh Ziggo, which uh which back then also aired like the HOF class, and it had like it was I don't think and I've never really got into all or nothing, but it is kind of the same thing with like coaching discussions, training sessions, everything that got into it when we were playing cards and someone had to sit on like uh like uh in the in the children's playground uh two hours without his phone in like one of the like castles or something, and then something like that, and they've they aired it all.
- 21:55SPEAKER_04: That's that's pretty good.
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: I think that's kind of what I also envisaged is like.
- 22:00SPEAKER_04: I'd love for a camera crew to come and like film mic people up, maybe on a club game on a Sunday, when we play on a Sunday.
- 22:08SPEAKER_04: And like you're talking about, you'd mic up like Calnan against Gooders.
- 22:13SPEAKER_04: You'd you'd mic that up.
- 22:15SPEAKER_04: And then you'd also show them, you know, chirping at each other, getting really competitive, all the shithousery that goes with it.
- 22:21SPEAKER_04: And then also the fun of the very next day, less than 24 hours later, you're having to meet in the gym and kind of like make friends and have a laugh about it again.
- 22:30SPEAKER_04: Like the amount of times that happens with us where you've kind of like had a little bit of a tiff with someone, or there's some good old shithousery, and then you have to come in the next day and be like, Hey mate, how are you?
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: I also I always kind of hate hate death.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: Like I just like on Sunday.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: I I really I I I wish like terrible things on my opponent sometimes.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh, you're such a bell and whatever.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: And then the day after you're there, you're doing gym, and you're asking you're doing Nordic hamstring and you're asking someone to sit on your ankles.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: It's just that this it feels so so shit sometimes.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: I had I had it with uh with Kun Bayer this um last Sunday.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: Like I was shouting at him.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: Uh he was shouting at the ref or something, and I was shouting to him, What the fuck do you want?
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: What do you want?
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: So I was like being Billy Big Boss, like you know, like the big guy I am.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: And then uh like we got into a bit of like a like an like an argument or something, and we were like really shouting at each other.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: And then on Monday, I was still not really over it or something, also because we drew, and then I had to say hello to him and be all nice with him, and I was actually kind of still pretty annoyed.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: And and you you are nice then, and you're all you are being nice, you're also you can laugh about this stuff, but actually, I'm also sometimes like oh, I wish I could just hate on those guys a little longer.
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: The worst one we had, the worst one we had, Ros.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: Do you remember we had playoffs and then we flew to Malaysia the next day or that that evening?
- 24:02SPEAKER_02: So the playoffs, so playoff final.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: So for obviously like English championships, we play Wimbledon plays Serbiton in the final.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: We're 3-0 down, we draw three all, it goes to shootouts, we win on shootouts.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: And literally straight after the game, I have to share an ice bath with Phil, and we have to leave like 30 minutes later.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: So there's like no separation whatsoever.
- 24:25SPEAKER_02: There's no conversation in the ice bath.
- 24:27SPEAKER_02: Phil is just glaring at me for 10 minutes.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: We get changed and then we go.
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean, it was I'm normally quite good at stepping off a pitch and being okay with it, but when you're 3-0 up and then you lose in a shootout, and and then like yeah, I mean, as Brendan says, I had to share an ice bath with Gooders and Brendan 10 minutes later, and both of them walk in with their medals, and I'm like, right, lads, take the fuckers off, otherwise, there's gonna be problems, and then yeah, and then you're like sharing a flight with them six hours, 13-hour flight or whatever it is, where you're stuck in a cabin together.
- 25:05SPEAKER_04: I mean, that type of dynamics probably doesn't happen in many other sports, to be honest, does it?
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: It actually happened in NBA last year, where uh the yeah, the the other year before it was the the NBA finals was uh Sun's Bucks, and Drew Holiday, um Chris Middleton, and I think Devin Booker were on the same flight uh from like after the NBA finals to the Olympics to Tokyo.
- 25:32SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, that's fun.
- 25:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, okay, touche.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, your facts, Phil.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: Well, also to be fair, that's gonna be what private jet or first class where you've got your own little cabin bit, you can separate each other, not economy, sat like sardines next to each other for eight hours with nothing.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: I reckon those three NBA stars flight coach just in the back of the plane.
- 25:58SPEAKER_04: I also thought along these lines of like amateur stuff that that maybe people would love to see at home.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: It's like when if you watch All or Nothing or any of them other documentaries, they always do pieces about certain players away from you know the sport, and it's normally like, oh, we're gonna play golf, oh like here I am in my massive house with my cool, like young family, and here it is, how it's going.
- 26:22SPEAKER_04: And I just thought it'd be so funny.
- 26:24SPEAKER_04: Like in our squad, I wrote down a couple of them, like seeing people away from hockey.
- 26:28SPEAKER_04: Jacob Draper is just uh he's a trader, so he goes into you know, like Wall Street style away from hockey, and he's making making big time trades.
- 26:38SPEAKER_04: I said Gooders is uh is another National League coach, so he's the head coach of a Division I team in England, so seeing him on the sidelines coaching.
- 26:48SPEAKER_04: Halnen is in a band, you know, doing uh like him gigging on a Friday night, as opposed to like I don't know, whatever kind of crazy preparation other people are doing.
- 26:59SPEAKER_04: He's like sinking pints and having a cup and doing a gig.
- 27:02SPEAKER_04: Shippo, uh Rupert Shipley, it also works for his dad's shutter company.
- 27:07SPEAKER_04: So, you know, on a Wednesday when we're meant to have time off, he's away, you know, selling some good old shutters to some some family homes.
- 27:15SPEAKER_04: I uh I mean there is lots of golf going on, I do know that much, but I think it give a like a crazy cool insight into like the life of a hockey player.
- 27:27SPEAKER_04: No, I think it'd be so oh yeah, and then at the end it'd just be like me after a double session trying to chase indie around the park.
- 27:34SPEAKER_04: I thought that'd be like like cool preparation for your double session, Phil.
- 27:39SPEAKER_04: It's just Indy making me go down a two-year-old slide.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh yeah, because that would be such a bad thing.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm thinking I'm thinking of like uh like what what in our team.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: I I do know like last summer when I came to England um talking about indie and about uh player, I've never felt more uncomfortable than when me and Snow, me and Max Kuipers, we were we were going to the park with Indy, and at a certain moment we realized it's just two middle-aged guys in at a playground without without their own kid, which was like we looked at each other like this will look really really weird, but like 90% of like the mothers out here like what are these two like this really tall guy, like this really tall, handsome, charismatic guy, and this like and slow, no, no, like uh well, yeah, but with our team, it's awesome.
- 28:44SPEAKER_01: But we we actually have a lot of guys who just like have like the really basic life of just play hockey, study, and don't actually have that much of an interesting uh life next to it.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Like, I think me playing golf is like one of the more outrageous things in our national team.
- 29:05SPEAKER_03: So boring, yeah.
- 29:07SPEAKER_04: That's the thing, but you're like you're more towards, I'd say you're you're slightly more towards the professional level of of sport, which is why I think following us around for a year and getting all of these kind of like nuances to professional sport could be really actually good, and I think people would be pretty interested to see that type of thing.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: It would be so much more fun to to to like you said, like to look because I know Belgium is the same.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: I know I know Germany is also it's like they're a bit of a because they're the world champions, but they they're not that professional as people think.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: Like the Germans, sometimes I just feel like they take the piss out of everything because they they just they come together maybe maybe the two weeks before a tournament.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: They all go on a holiday to Ibiza like a week before the tournament, like uh and then uh they they become world champions.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: They kind of piss me off sometimes.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: It's like a long rivalry, but they just take a piss out of everything, and in the end, they almost always win.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: It's fucking annoying.
- 30:10SPEAKER_04: That is a that is a pretty well.
- 30:13SPEAKER_04: The only one thing before we finish up this uh this little segment was I thought also would it be interesting seeing kind of like the selection dynamics of hockey because there's not many other sports, maybe tell me if I'm wrong, where you have 30 guys going for 16 to 18 places every single time, and then having to come together after you fought for your place to try and come together as a team.
- 30:36SPEAKER_04: I thought that would be like a also like an interesting dynamic of kind of showing the build-up selection.
- 30:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, and also the the tension that comes with it, the people underestimated sometimes.
- 30:48SPEAKER_01: I know for some like for some players it doesn't really apply, but like there's a lot, like there's maybe six or seven to which it doesn't apply, but like for the other 20 uh 25, it's like every time there's a selection, it's kind of tense and it's kind of stressful, and you feel the whole dynamic in the group change a little bit.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: I think it would be good to like have that documented once.
- 31:07SPEAKER_04: For sure.
- 31:08SPEAKER_04: Well that has been the first part of this.
- 31:12SPEAKER_04: We'll be back after a break.
- 31:17SPEAKER_04: We'll go straight into this week's shit or hit.
- 31:20SPEAKER_04: We had a couple of a couple of people messaging.
- 31:24SPEAKER_04: Um Deutsche from Cerbiton Brendan had a couple.
- 31:29SPEAKER_04: His first one was Defenders Wearing High Numbers.
- 31:31SPEAKER_04: Shit all hit.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: Shit.
- 31:38SPEAKER_02: What?
- 31:38SPEAKER_02: As a man with as a man with 18 and as a man looking at a man with 27.
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: Shit.
- 31:43SPEAKER_04: 23.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: 23.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's a guess.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Look at him.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: There's nothing more budget you than seeing somebody play on the weekend with the number 313 or something shit like that that you get in England.
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: There's some real budget numbers that you get in England because it's a classic club number.
- 32:02SPEAKER_02: We're talking that big.
- 32:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, not not not anything under 30, I assume.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: But even then, something something high can sometimes look really budget.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I agree, but I like the ones who who take uh like like like 69 or something.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 32:21SPEAKER_04: No one I saw this being different.
- 32:24SPEAKER_04: I saw this being like a defender wearing number nine.
- 32:27SPEAKER_04: That's what I thought the question was.
- 32:29SPEAKER_04: Because if I see a defender wearing number nine, I'm like, what are you doing?
- 32:32SPEAKER_04: Who do you actually think you are?
- 32:34SPEAKER_02: I got nah, yeah.
- 32:37SPEAKER_02: But it's just as budget as seeing an attacker wearing something like number two or number three or number one.
- 32:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I agree.
- 32:43SPEAKER_04: I also think that's shit.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I don't know why.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: This also I I I kind of agree.
- 32:47SPEAKER_01: It looks really stupid when someone has like a number 10 and they're the they're a defender.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: But why is it?
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: I don't know why I think that's so annoying.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: Because it really grinds my gears.
- 32:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because we've grown up with football, I think because we've grown up with football, football numbers is like that.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: So obviously, like a striker's always been 9, 10, or 11.
- 33:08SPEAKER_02: Like a defender's always been two, three, four, or five.
- 33:11SPEAKER_02: Like it's always been that kind of way.
- 33:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but I find it acceptable that like you're 23 and you're 18, Brent.
- 33:18SPEAKER_04: That doesn't bother me.
- 33:19SPEAKER_04: But I think if you're number 10, yeah, it's the 7 to 10 range.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a 7 to 10 range.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: That's that's that's those are like the ones that like are kind of reserved for like like a seven is like nine out of ten times a right midfielder or like a left midfielder, like a winger.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: A number eight is like nine out of ten times a central defender or a central midfielder, like a controller.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: Could you accept could you accept a flicker being one of those numbers?
- 33:46SPEAKER_04: No.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: Okay, no.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: I I think if you easier, like Takuma had had 10, I believe, and I think that was I kind of more accepted it because he scored a lot of goals.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: That's what I mean, yeah.
- 33:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because on the weekend we played Hamstead and Drapes, who plays centre back slash like deep centre mid, he was wearing 10.
- 34:05SPEAKER_04: And I looked at one point and I was like, that's not right.
- 34:10SPEAKER_04: That's not right.
- 34:11SPEAKER_04: I'm not having that.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but he's a midfield, he's he's more of a midfielder.
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: He probably plays there because just I don't know.
- 34:17SPEAKER_04: I'm just I'm just I didn't enjoy looking at it.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: That's what she said.
- 34:27SPEAKER_04: And then he also had a second question about shirt numbers.
- 34:30SPEAKER_04: He says outfielders wearing the number one.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: What's an outfielder?
- 34:34SPEAKER_04: Not a goalie.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: Not a goalkeeper.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Why why why are normal people called outfielders and goalies are goalies infielders then?
- 34:46SPEAKER_04: Great question.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: That is a really good question.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: It's a very good question.
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: It's just how it's always always been said.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but because it's always been like that doesn't mean it's normal.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: I think it's really weird that that the players, like the ones who actually are sane, are the outfielders.
- 35:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but I've never questioned it to be honest.
- 35:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, same.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: Okay, it's a it's a valid point.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: Um, but uh Jamie Dwyer wore one, and I thought always thought that was kind of cool.
- 35:15SPEAKER_02: I yeah, but I feel that should be like there shouldn't be another one unless you can replicate what he's done, and so far we haven't found anybody.
- 35:22SPEAKER_02: Jump me in.
- 35:23SPEAKER_04: That's that's nuanced, isn't it?
- 35:25SPEAKER_04: Because he's like five-time world player of the year.
- 35:27SPEAKER_04: Like, if anyone else wears one, what do you think?
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: Uh budget is fucking fucked.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, that's yeah, I know that's that's budget, but like I I always think it's gonna like because do you think it's okay if like um for instance, uh um at all when you wrote Robert van Horst was like one of the biggest players there ever was.
- 35:49SPEAKER_01: He always wore 24.
- 35:51SPEAKER_01: That the year after like he he leaves, somebody else takes that number.
- 35:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I think I think that should probably be retired, shouldn't it?
- 36:01SPEAKER_02: I took Barry Middleton's number.
- 36:05SPEAKER_02: Oh, Brendan.
- 36:07SPEAKER_02: He changed numbers, and that was the number I was given.
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: And ever since that day, I have you know, when people say always leave the shirt in a better place.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: What happens if there's you just can't?
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: No one ever questions whether you just can't.
- 36:21SPEAKER_02: And ever since that, like we've had like you see, like the New Zealand all or nothing where they talk about that.
- 36:26SPEAKER_02: I'm always like, Oh, this hurts.
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: Um there's still time, Brent.
- 36:31SPEAKER_04: There's still time.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I haven't got 30 more years left of playing, Phil.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: There's not not enough time.
- 36:38SPEAKER_04: You don't you don't have to meet matches caps, you just have to do something good, I think.
- 36:43SPEAKER_02: Thanks, Phil.
- 36:44SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna get selected first before I can do good stuff.
- 36:49SPEAKER_04: Um, okay, um Neal van der Hoewel uh he he messaged in saying shit or hit ating people on WhatsApp.
- 36:59SPEAKER_04: So there's like a bit where you can at people on WhatsApp and he's like it's pointless, it's useless.
- 37:04SPEAKER_04: Like, is that shit or hit?
- 37:07SPEAKER_01: Wait, did Neil van der Hoewel send something in?
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know he's the son of, huh?
- 37:13SPEAKER_04: Is he?
- 37:14SPEAKER_01: He's the son of Michel van Hovel.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: Not not kidding.
- 37:17SPEAKER_04: Well that's not good because are we we yeah, okay.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: What I wey, we're just spitting it.
- 37:24SPEAKER_02: We're branching out.
- 37:25SPEAKER_02: We're branching out.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: Hey, Neil, if you're listening, let us know.
- 37:30SPEAKER_03: We have to answer his question, you'll listens to let's stick together at gma.com.
- 37:36SPEAKER_03: Um I'm I'm I'm for it.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: Hit, I like it.
- 37:40SPEAKER_02: I like a good adding, it just makes it obvious that you're just trying to best speak to that one person.
- 37:44SPEAKER_02: I mean it's good.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I I think that and I do it myself, but I actually think it's a good one because I sometimes when I just have a personal WhatsApp conversation with like Brendan, for instance, I like still um do the swipe and like add to what he's saying, or is that nobody needs to no?
- 38:01SPEAKER_04: I don't think that's what he means.
- 38:02SPEAKER_04: It's like in a group, you can press at and then you there's the scroll down list of all the people in the group, and you can like kind of press their name, and then it's like you're at them.
- 38:12SPEAKER_04: But oh but it's like compl like I am completely with him.
- 38:16SPEAKER_04: It's so pointless.
- 38:17SPEAKER_04: Like he doesn't notify you that you've been at it.
- 38:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it does.
- 38:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it does.
- 38:22SPEAKER_04: What you mean you just get the same WhatsApp message?
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because I I I I I muted a couple of my groups, group WhatsApps, and I do get a message when I'm edit.
- 38:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but you get the message whatever.
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: No, I get the message whatever, because sometimes I mute it.
- 38:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so if you mute the conversation, you don't get any notification, but if you're at it in it, you then get notification saying why are you mute?
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: Why are you muting it?
- 38:47SPEAKER_02: Because sometimes two people talk too much and you get like a hundred messages.
- 38:52SPEAKER_02: You don't want that notification.
- 38:53SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's just classic Brendan doing this type of thing.
- 38:55SPEAKER_04: He's like, Oh, I just can't deal with these all these conversations now.
- 38:58SPEAKER_04: I'm mute.
- 38:59SPEAKER_04: Oh no, no, Phil.
- 39:00SPEAKER_02: No, no, Phil.
- 39:01SPEAKER_02: I'm relevant.
- 39:02SPEAKER_02: This is a good point.
- 39:02SPEAKER_02: This is you saying this as well.
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: It's a good point.
- 39:04SPEAKER_04: But Brendan's too big time for lots of groups.
- 39:08SPEAKER_02: I'm relevant.
- 39:09SPEAKER_02: I know he's not a fan.
- 39:10SPEAKER_03: Oh, I'm relevant.
- 39:11SPEAKER_03: I get loads of messages.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: I can keep it.
- 39:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, here we fucking go.
- 39:15SPEAKER_04: Go on, next one.
- 39:17SPEAKER_04: Well, Mill, I'm with you.
- 39:18SPEAKER_04: It's shit.
- 39:19SPEAKER_04: The other two, I think, are saying hit.
- 39:22SPEAKER_01: Hit.
- 39:22SPEAKER_01: Hey, say hi to your father, Mill.
- 39:25SPEAKER_04: I I put this one in, right?
- 39:27SPEAKER_04: At Holcomb, we've got carpeted changing rooms.
- 39:32SPEAKER_02: Such a fan.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: How fucking lovely.
- 39:35unknown: Yeah.
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm such a fan.
- 39:37SPEAKER_02: That's a real hit.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: Doesn't it like smell really, really shit?
- 39:43SPEAKER_03: Weirdly enough, no.
- 39:44SPEAKER_03: It's quite easy to clean, isn't it?
- 39:47SPEAKER_03: You really sounded like uh like Simon from uh from uh in between us.
- 39:56SPEAKER_02: I've got like a real issue with hard flooring.
- 39:58SPEAKER_02: So whenever you go post-game showers, people always walk in wet, and all that happens is the water just sits there and it spreads and it gets to people's bags and clothes and shoes, etc.
- 40:09SPEAKER_02: And it really fucks me off.
- 40:10SPEAKER_02: Whereas carpet would solve that straight away.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: Wait, are we talking about carpet is like is it carpet?
- 40:21SPEAKER_04: It's it's like uh he was just in the in the midst of trying to translate carpet to Dutch in his head.
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well you wait, really carpet in your locker room.
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: So after the shower, you step with your wet, wet shit carpet.
- 40:39SPEAKER_04: Just saying Holcomb has carpeted changing rooms, so and I I was in there the other day, and I just randomly was like, This would be a good show here, and because I love it, like you walk in there and like like Brendan says, you don't get wet feet, you don't get wet kit everywhere.
- 40:56SPEAKER_04: It seems to soak it up.
- 40:57SPEAKER_04: Maybe that's a bit disgusting, but it's I'm a fan.
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, I I get why it's like nice, but I think it's really, really disgusting, right?
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: Why it may be.
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: Do you guys I'm asking for a friend?
- 41:13SPEAKER_01: I don't know, but do you guys piss in the shower?
- 41:18SPEAKER_02: You but the the shower is not carpeted, the showers aren't carpeted, and all I know, I know then you have a walkway to get to the changing rooms, I know that's still not carpeted, so the whole thing, so I get it.
- 41:32SPEAKER_04: No, no, you but I don't think I mean no, but if you like people like walk around there, people have like dirty feet, like and it all stays in the carpet.
- 41:44SPEAKER_02: No, so the carpet still gets cleaned.
- 41:46SPEAKER_02: Do you still clean the changing rooms?
- 41:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, just like you you clean your bed, Brendan.
- 41:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, everyone knows that doesn't happen.
- 41:55SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 41:57SPEAKER_02: This is right to clarify, this is not true.
- 41:59SPEAKER_02: This is you making shit up already.
- 42:01SPEAKER_04: Brendan, I've seen your bed, mate.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: No, you haven't.
- 42:05SPEAKER_02: No, you haven't, Phil.
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: You have like that you have that little towel in the corner of your room, which is standing again.
- 42:12SPEAKER_02: Not true.
- 42:14SPEAKER_04: Right, let's move it on.
- 42:15SPEAKER_04: That was kind of a good discussion, kind of maybe not.
- 42:18SPEAKER_04: Right, we're gonna try a couple of new games just before we end, right?
- 42:22SPEAKER_04: The first one's for Brendan.
- 42:24SPEAKER_04: It's called the Creed 20 Second Challenge.
- 42:26SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna give him some stuff to talk about.
- 42:28SPEAKER_04: He's got exactly 20 seconds to talk about it.
- 42:31SPEAKER_02: Um Bill, can we change the name of that?
- 42:34SPEAKER_02: Because that really doesn't put me in good light.
- 42:36SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 42:37SPEAKER_00: Creed's 20 seconds in ever.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: It's funny because it's true.
- 42:44SPEAKER_00: Okay, moving on.
- 42:45SPEAKER_04: Okay, Brendan.
- 42:46SPEAKER_04: Your first 20-second challenge is the GB women for the past four years.
- 42:53SPEAKER_02: Go.
- 42:55SPEAKER_02: Four years, Christ, what's that?
- 42:57SPEAKER_02: 2019.
- 42:59SPEAKER_02: Uh struggled at the World Cup, um, got 2020 COVID.
- 43:04SPEAKER_02: Uh came back, pro league didn't do too well, commies gold, uh, Olympic bronze.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: Um what have we just done?
- 43:13SPEAKER_02: What have we just done?
- 43:14SPEAKER_02: Time.
- 43:15SPEAKER_02: Oh Jesus, yeah, not great.
- 43:17SPEAKER_02: That's tough.
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: You you review that for me.
- 43:22SPEAKER_01: Brendan.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: Brendan's effort.
- 43:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: This is just I know I'm a bit biased, but like that was really shit.
- 43:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that was poor, but right.
- 43:35SPEAKER_04: The film The Hobbit.
- 43:37SPEAKER_04: Go.
- 43:39SPEAKER_02: The film The Hobbit, Jesus.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: Uh really poor knockoff of Lord of the Rings trilogy.
- 43:45SPEAKER_02: Um small man basically makes his way to a mountain, I believe, and gets stuck in the woods.
- 43:50SPEAKER_02: I think that's that one.
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: Is it that one?
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: No, he gets stuck by trolls, and Gandalf comes to turn them all to stone.
- 43:58SPEAKER_02: I think that's about it, isn't it?
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: This has gone so much this has gone so much better than I hoped it would.
- 44:04SPEAKER_03: It's so hard.
- 44:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you that's what she said.
- 44:08SPEAKER_03: Brenda was thinking about Brokeback Mountain Matter, too, guys.
- 44:11SPEAKER_03: Don't worry about this 20-second challenge.
- 44:14SPEAKER_04: Don't worry about the last one, Brendan.
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: He's taking his sweat off, ladies and gentlemen.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 44:23SPEAKER_02: The aerial rule.
- 44:24SPEAKER_02: Go.
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: Oh, nobody even knows what this rule is.
- 44:28SPEAKER_02: Um, you can intercept it, you can't intercept it.
- 44:32SPEAKER_02: You can stand within five, you can't stand within five.
- 44:34SPEAKER_02: You can try and intercept from one and a half body lengths away, which apparently is the rule, but no one plays that rule.
- 44:41SPEAKER_02: Um, most of the time, just give a corner.
- 44:44SPEAKER_04: And stop.
- 44:45SPEAKER_04: That was, I think, your best one.
- 44:46SPEAKER_04: You improved.
- 44:48SPEAKER_04: Congratulations.
- 44:49SPEAKER_04: We'll come up with that.
- 44:50SPEAKER_04: I mean, did you enjoy that at home?
- 44:51SPEAKER_04: Is the 20 second creed challenge a good hit or a shit?
- 44:54SPEAKER_04: Um, let us know.
- 44:56SPEAKER_04: Not not via email, right?
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: You random ones are really hard.
- 45:00SPEAKER_04: The next challenge for you I have is that I decided to pick out some English sayings and I thought, can you decipher what they mean?
- 45:08SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: So the first one is egg on your face.
- 45:13SPEAKER_04: You've got egg on your face.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: You've got egg on your face.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: Egg on your face.
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: So annoying that I'm immediately going the sexual way, but I know it's not that.
- 45:32SPEAKER_01: That's disgusting.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: You are disgusting.
- 45:35SPEAKER_01: I think it's um um fuck.
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: I have no clue.
- 45:43SPEAKER_04: It's like literally no clue.
- 45:45SPEAKER_04: Now it's a now is now it's Brendan's turn.
- 45:47SPEAKER_04: What does egg on your face mean?
- 45:48SPEAKER_01: Oh wait, I think I know what it means.
- 45:50SPEAKER_01: I think you're ashamed of something.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: Brendan?
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: I'll be perfectly honest.
- 45:56SPEAKER_02: I don't know what this means, which was why I was laughing.
- 45:58SPEAKER_02: Because if Phil was asking me to review it, I couldn't review it because I have no idea what it means.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: Okay, well, I thought this was a typical English thing.
- 46:05SPEAKER_04: If you've got egg on your face, you've like made a bit of a fool of yourself.
- 46:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you're ashamed.
- 46:10SPEAKER_04: You've messed up.
- 46:11unknown: Yeah.
- 46:12SPEAKER_04: You're pretty pretty bang on that.
- 46:14SPEAKER_04: Not bad.
- 46:14SPEAKER_04: Okay, next thought.
- 46:15SPEAKER_04: Uh something's gone pear-shaped.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: Something's gone pear-shaped.
- 46:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: Um you've you've you've you've shitted your pants.
- 46:34unknown: What?
- 46:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because it's like it it goes the pear, it's like small on the bottom, and no, I don't know, cool.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I didn't really didn't know it.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: It's gone, it's gone to shit.
- 46:44SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 46:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's it.
- 46:45SPEAKER_01: It's gone to shit.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: It's gone to shit.
- 46:47SPEAKER_02: Well, why pear shit?
- 46:50SPEAKER_02: I think because pear is not a normal shape, there's something's gone wrong.
- 46:54SPEAKER_02: I assume.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you I'll look up the origins for these next week.
- 46:59SPEAKER_04: Um, there's two more, okay.
- 47:01SPEAKER_04: Uh, if someone's gone crackers, Brendan.
- 47:06SPEAKER_04: They're crackers.
- 47:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:09SPEAKER_02: Brendan.
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: That's that's not a real description, though.
- 47:11SPEAKER_02: That's you just use a me as a I think everyone listening knows what I mean.
- 47:16SPEAKER_04: I I have to go with you there, correct.
- 47:19SPEAKER_04: Well done.
- 47:20SPEAKER_04: Fine.
- 47:21SPEAKER_04: And the last one, if you're a curtain twitcher.
- 47:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, a curtain twitcher.
- 47:29SPEAKER_01: So um use it in a sentence.
- 47:34SPEAKER_01: Brendan's a curtain twitcher.
- 47:36SPEAKER_03: I knew that was coming then.
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: Um Brendan is a curtain twitcher.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: I'd say a nervous guy.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: Someone is nervous.
- 47:52SPEAKER_04: So no, it's it's actually if you're nosy, so if you're constantly interested in other people's business because you're behind the curtain watching them.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, okay.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a good one.
- 48:04SPEAKER_04: Okay, I mean, do you like that segment, Yupe?
- 48:07SPEAKER_04: You feel like you've learned something?
- 48:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I feel like I've learned something.
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: I feel like I've really, yeah, became a better man today.
- 48:14SPEAKER_04: And also, I guess if you've got any typical English sayings that you want you to try and decipher, please, please uh message in, let us know what's going on.
- 48:23SPEAKER_02: Don't actually message in, don't send it to an email.
- 48:27SPEAKER_04: And I mean we've properly we've properly done either side of the break this time, haven't we?
- 48:35SPEAKER_04: We've we've we've gone with one where we talked a lot of hockey and then we've gone with the other, which is shit or hit and the Brendan's 20 second challenge.
- 48:43SPEAKER_04: And the game for you.
- 48:45SPEAKER_04: Boys, have you got anything else?
- 48:48SPEAKER_02: Nah, nothing.
- 48:49SPEAKER_01: No, I'm all out.
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: I'm all out.
- 48:53SPEAKER_01: It's been a hell of a week.
- 48:55SPEAKER_01: I hope next week I can come here and finally with three points in the back.
- 49:03SPEAKER_02: Who have you got this weekend?
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: Rotterdam.
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, big game.
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but uh, every game's a big game right now.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: And to be honest, they're also on my list of teams I really don't like.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: I really want to win.
- 49:18SPEAKER_01: But and they've got the whole leagues on that list apart from Vordan.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: As I said in the beginning, Brendan, if you listen, you'd know the saying of the week, my dear listen.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: Is you are sick in your Easter egg.
- 49:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, what's that even can you say that in Dutch now?
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: You bet niet goed in your paraj, you bet sick in your paj.
- 50:10SPEAKER_01: Your head your head is the Easter egg, and you're not well there.
- 50:17SPEAKER_04: Why has it gotta be the Easter egg though?
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: Why has it gotta be a curtain?
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a really good point.
- 50:25SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, if you take out a curtain, it's just a Twitcher, and I don't think that gives the same impression, does it?
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: No, Twitcher does mean nervous.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: Grow up.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: In the end, everything applies to Brandon.
