  Speaker 1: All Star tournament and I got a chance to play

  Speaker 1: against Reggie Miller and obviously all these great players.

  Speaker 3: But prior to that, Sacramento never got exposure.

  Speaker 1: You fast forward to today, it's no different than the

  Speaker 1: other city around the country because there's his eyes on

  Speaker 1: all the talent everywhere. But back then I was one

  Speaker 1: of those kids that most people didn't know cabal. I

  Speaker 1: got lucky enough to get a scholarship to Cal Berkeley,

  Speaker 1: which was great. I wanted to go to Cal because

  Speaker 1: it was in a pack team. Now it was Pac

  Speaker 1: twelve and now it's no longer anything, but that was
• 5:03
  Speaker 1: the best conference back then. So not a lot of exposure,

  Speaker 1: but you know, we tried to rap best we could.

  Speaker 4: The cav heard you play baseball too for a little bit.

  Speaker 1: Yeah, I was too sport played baseball in high school.

  Speaker 1: in college. I had to make a choice between one

  Speaker 1: or the other. And even though baseball was my first love,

  Speaker 1: basketball I felt connected me to the black community, like

  Speaker 1: in a different way, and that's always been my north start.

  Speaker 1: So I chose. I chose basketball. It worked out and said,

  Speaker 1: I got drafted high got drafted, played in Cleveland for
• 5:43
  Speaker 1: about six months, cover coffee, not cold weather.

  Speaker 4: How was that like draft process though? For the MLB?
• 5:51
  Speaker 4: For you, they just give you a call, do they
• 5:54
  Speaker 4: tell you to pull up? What was it?

  Speaker 3: Yeah? I think I was unique.

  Speaker 1: I think because in high school I was gonna get drafted,

  Speaker 1: probably by the Yankees. They knew I was gonna go

  Speaker 1: to college. And they were right because I'm about to

  Speaker 1: get a free scholarship college, Like I gotta do that,

  Speaker 1: you know, That's how I was raised. So I knew

  Speaker 1: I was gonna play basketball in college. NLB knew I
• 6:13
  Speaker 1: was gonna play, so they didn't draft me coming out
• 6:16
  Speaker 1: of high school.

  Speaker 1: Then when I got to college, I played one year
• 6:20
  Speaker 1: and they're like, just in case this brother does not

  Speaker 1: play basketball, we're gonna draft them. So I got drafted

  Speaker 1: by the Oakland A's and the way they do it,

  Speaker 1: they just tell you they talked to you before. They

  Speaker 1: say we're probably gonna draft you. We don't know what

  Speaker 1: round I get drafted. I'm going into my senior year

  Speaker 1: of college. They paid me, so they paid me forty grand.

  Speaker 1: So basically I got paid forty grand back then, so

  Speaker 1: I lost my scholarship, but at forty grand, I was

  Speaker 1: able to take ten of it pay for my college,

  Speaker 1: take another ten, buy a little car, take another ten,

  Speaker 1: send home and then save ten k. And then during

  Speaker 1: the summertime between my junior and senior year, I played

  Speaker 1: for the Oakland A's minor league ball team during the summer.

  Speaker 1: bit unique, but I gotta I gotta put my foot

  Speaker 1: in it, got to taste it again. I love baseball,

  Speaker 1: but basketball was just it was just my calling, you
