• 3:57
Speaker 1: Great tribute band, randy Weldon, mr Ford, and you know it's funny.
• 4:03
Speaker 1: Before we get to, what I wanted to talk about is that I have had two Mustangs here in the past six weeks or so.
• 4:11
Speaker 1: I had the new Mustang Dark Horse.
• 4:13
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and that thing.
• 4:16
Speaker 1: Have you been in one of those?
• 4:17
  Speaker 1: I have not.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: Wow, I've seen them.
• 4:19
Speaker 1: It's a race car, absolutely, and there's no putting any mustard on that at all.
• 4:23
Speaker 1: It is a race car, absolutely, and there's no putting any mustard on that at all.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: It is a race car.
• 4:27
Speaker 1: It is meant for tracking on a road course period.
• 4:31
  Speaker 1: That's it.
• 4:32
Speaker 1: Tons of horsepower, six-speed manual transmission and if you're looking to ride around Houston streets it's going to beat you to death because it's stiff, but that's what a race race car does.
• 4:43
Speaker 1: This is a race car from the factory.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: Now, if you're not into all that, I just got out of a ford mustang gt convertible.
• 4:52
Speaker 1: Holy, how do you like?
• 4:54
Speaker 1: that oh my god, what a nice car.
• 4:57
Speaker 1: You know me, I'm a corvette guy.
• 4:59
Speaker 1: Okay, yes, but I will tell you this I was thoroughly impressed.
• 5:05
Speaker 1: Solid built car, all the amenities, v8 engine, automatic transmission Turn the knob, hit the button and the top goes down.
• 5:16
Speaker 1: There's no fiddling around with the boot on the back of it, none of that stuff.
• 5:20
Speaker 1: Wow, what a nice car, holy cow.
• 5:23
  Speaker 1: Yeah, really is.
• 5:24
Speaker 4: They started building them right.
• 5:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, and the big screen up on the dash.
• 5:29
Speaker 1: That includes the instrument panel and the infotainment system.
• 5:34
Speaker 1: It is really, really nice, and if you haven't been in one, do it have you been in one, just do it.
• 5:41
Speaker 4: I've been in an S550 version of the Shelbyby, but not the latest version.
• 5:45
Speaker 1: No, yeah, okay well, there's something for you.
• 5:49
Speaker 4: You know we will say we were, we were out last week.
• 5:51
Speaker 1: We always try to bring a lot to the table when you're on well, if it's mustang related, I love hearing about it.
• 5:58
Speaker 4: I know you do well.
• 5:59
Speaker 4: Actually, if it's car related, I love hearing about it thank you, we appreciate it.
• 6:03
Speaker 1: so what were you going to say last weekend?
• 6:05
  Speaker 1: What Car shows?
• 6:07
Speaker 4: We were up at Ozark International Raceway with an MCA national show that was held at the track.
• 6:11
Speaker 4: So we had the Dark Horses out there, we had the Shelbys out there, you name it.
• 6:16
Speaker 4: People brought it from all over the country.
• 6:18
  Speaker 1: How cool.
• 6:18
Speaker 1: How many cars all there.
• 6:21
Speaker 4: I believe there were about 177 cars in the car show, part of it, I'm not sure how many on the track.
• 6:26
Speaker 4: I know the track was busy nonstop and of course we were up there doing music and the announcing and stuff.
• 6:34
Speaker 4: So I got to watch the cars on track as they went by and the car show which was right in front of us.
• 6:38
Speaker 1: I would have liked to have seen you in the passenger seat at least, screaming like a little girl going around that track.
• 6:42
Speaker 4: I'd have loved to have gotten in the car, the passenger seat at least, screaming like a little girl going around that track.
• 6:45
Speaker 4: I I'd love to have gotten in the car.
• 6:46
  Speaker 4: I I've never.
• 6:48
Speaker 1: I'm that guy that you can't go fast enough yeah, well, I think that that speaks volumes for all of us.
• 6:53
Speaker 1: Really, if your car guy you know in the right circumstances, let's go fast yeah that's it, yeah, yeah.
• 7:00
Speaker 4: The driver looks over and says, hey, are you okay and you're like faster.
• 7:04
Speaker 1: Either that or let me out of here now there's that.
• 7:09
  Speaker 1: Yeah, no-transcript.
• 7:23
Speaker 1: We all know what summer brings here to the Houston Texas area and come August we're looking at, you know, 110-degree days and there aren't too many, but there are still some cruise-ins.
• 7:34
Speaker 1: Most of them happen in the morning, but there are also some outdoor car shows that happen during the summertime.
• 7:40
Speaker 1: So tips on attending summer car shows in our heat and I know you've been to enough of them you got your own set of rules well, we try to accommodate people and plan ahead and think of things that could happen.
• 7:56
Speaker 4: Uh, and if you're going to put on a car show, that's, that's just part of it you should be thinking of that.
• 8:00
Speaker 4: Uh, I think the first thing is, if you're going to get a venue during the summer heat in this area, uh, you're going to want one that has some sort of shade.
• 8:09
Speaker 4: You've got to make sure it's got shade around it.
• 8:12
Speaker 1: And you know what, if they don't have it, it's cheap.
• 8:16
Speaker 1: Go to Academy and buy you one of them pop-ups.
• 8:18
  Speaker 4: Get a pop-up.
• 8:19
Speaker 4: Make sure that people are bringing pop-ups or you're telling them to bring pop-ups.
• 8:23
Speaker 4: The very first show that I ever planned was at, uh, conroe west baptist church and, uh, beautiful layout.
• 8:32
Speaker 4: It's got a kind of a stair step type parking lot, but there are no trees there.
• 8:36
Speaker 4: Let me back up.
• 8:37
Speaker 4: There was a tree, a tree, but in the afternoon sun.
• 8:41
Speaker 4: That in the afternoon sun at the end of july, you know, we had 140, some people trying to get underneath that tree.
• 8:48
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, during awards and and of course, the speakers were set up so they were pointing the wrong way from the awards and it was, uh, that part was a mess.
• 8:55
Speaker 4: Um, the the heat, humidity was up.
• 8:58
Speaker 4: We had somebody that brought out some air conditioning porta potties.
• 9:01
Speaker 4: Uh, those were popular, you know, but they also would overflow and they'd have to.
• 9:06
Speaker 4: You know, come get them and bring other ones back out and then you're back to using the tree yeah you're back.
• 9:11
Speaker 4: Yes, right, you're hiding behind people using the tree, jeff, that's right.
• 9:14
Speaker 4: Yeah, no, uh, but you've got to.
• 9:17
Speaker 4: You've got to think about shade um, before you even plan an event.
• 9:21
Speaker 4: Then, beyond that, make sure you've got lots of water, obviously, uh, last week in ozark international raceway, we were constantly running from cases of water, um, but beyond the water, uh, plenty of ice.
• 9:34
Speaker 4: And they've now got these things that you wrap around your neck.
• 9:38
Speaker 4: You put them in the freezer overnight, wrap around your neck, and those are very helpful.
• 9:42
Speaker 4: Yep, um, and and I something I like to tell people to think about, even though it's expensive, um, is get a defibrillator, uh, and that goes really for any, any car show or outdoor event that you're doing.
• 9:54
Speaker 4: Um, you know, these things nowadays are automated.
• 9:57
Speaker 4: You can, uh, if somebody has a heart attack or some sort of an event like that, uh, it will not administer a shock unless they need it, but it analyzed you first and then, yeah, either will or won't administer shock for you.
• 10:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, um, but those are things you need to plan for.
• 10:13
Speaker 4: Uh, in addition to that, you need to find out what medical personnel you have that are attending and make sure that, if something happens, uh, you've got access to those people.
• 10:23
Speaker 4: And also, um, it's always good to know how far away, uh, your ambulances or your hospitals and stuff like that are emergency clinics or whatever.
• 10:32
Speaker 1: These are all things that you really need to be looking for, especially when you're out there in the middle of the summer heat in texas or florida or anywhere along the coast where the humidity just goes insane on you yeah, well, I think I think that's great information and um the if the, depending on the size of the event and obviously the affordability of it, chances are you could probably find not necessarily the city ambulance, but you could find an ambulance company that has that on board hire them during the event to sit there and, you know, feed them, water them, do whatever you got to do, but have somebody on board with you if you're going to have a big event in some parking lot or something.
• 11:16
Speaker 4: Well, to get a defibrillator out there, a lot of facilities, commercial facilities, now have them.
• 11:21
Speaker 4: But you know, ask first if they've got them.
• 11:24
Speaker 4: You know, ambulances certainly carry them, but knowing how far away those people are, those emergency people, ask first if they've got them.
• 11:32
Speaker 4: Ambulances certainly carry them, but knowing how far away those people are, those emergency people, that's really important.
• 11:36
Speaker 4: When you're talking, like you said, 110 degrees in the heat, I mean, first of all, every minute counts to begin with, but that heat just amplifies everything, go ahead.
• 11:44
Speaker 3: I was going to say.
• 11:45
Speaker 3: Part of that problem is that if you're out there in that heat, your body starts deteriorating because of the heat slowly, and sometimes you get a little disoriented before you even realize what's going on, and by that time it's too late for you to actually try and do something for yourself.
• 12:01
Speaker 3: So you've got to have somebody be able to step in and take care of it.
• 12:05
Speaker 2: Well, and also not just having a parking lot where you can put 150 cars in.
• 12:09
Speaker 2: If you have an event where you can actually go indoors to cool off for the, for the people attending uh, not necessarily in a mall, but something maybe restaurants in the area that they can go and and get cooled off, or maybe get a bite to eat.
• 12:24
Speaker 2: Not just there's a parking lot, we're going to fill it up with cars, right?
• 12:28
Speaker 4: That's really not a car show.
• 12:29
  Speaker 4: Hot, hot.
• 12:30
Speaker 4: That's something I neglected to mention too.
• 12:32
Speaker 4: At one of our shows we did in June a year ago, vernon Wilhelm, the president of Northside Mustang, went and rented a portable air conditioner from Home Depot.
• 12:42
Speaker 4: We put up a pop-up, put sidewalls on it and people could go in there and cool off a little bit.
• 12:47
Speaker 4: Just an escape area Out on the parking lot.
• 12:50
Speaker 1: These are things that you know for every day, joe Blow, that doesn't really go outside.
• 12:58
Speaker 1: You know they've got a yard man.
• 12:59
Speaker 1: They don't work in the heat.
• 13:00
Speaker 1: It can be a wake-up call, especially if you start feeling lightheaded and you're going I don't know what's wrong with me.
• 13:09
Speaker 1: Well, guess what You're about to have a heat stroke is what you're about to have.
• 13:15
Speaker 4: You start feeling funny and you don't know what's going on.
• 13:18
Speaker 4: Like Mike said, you get disoriented.
• 13:20
Speaker 4: I'm surprised at how well you know me.
• 13:25
Speaker 4: You started describing me there about the guy that never goes outside, has a yard guy I fit all that yeah Well, I mean, that's certainly not a put-down.
• 13:34
Speaker 1: I think that there are a lot of us, especially that listen to this show, that have inside jobs, work in the air conditioning, we have access to water and all of that sort of stuff, and it's not until even going to the beach is different than going.
• 13:49
Speaker 1: For the most part, going to the beach is different than having a car show, unless you have a car show at the beach.
• 13:56
Speaker 3: I don't know if that would work Because generally speaking you do have that little bit of an ocean breeze.
• 14:00
Speaker 3: I mean, just from between the climate changes there's generally a little bit of air movement there.
• 14:06
Speaker 1: As opposed to like it is here in Houston right now.
• 14:09
Speaker 1: There is no breeze whatsoever.
• 14:11
Speaker 1: No, your hair doesn't even move.
• 14:12
  Speaker 1: That's right.
• 14:13
  Speaker 1: It's dead calm.
• 14:14
Speaker 3: Neither one of them, jeff, I know.
• 14:16
Speaker 2: And I just got them cut.
• 14:18
  Speaker 1: Yeah, those two.
• 14:18
  Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
• 14:20
Speaker 1: Well, I think that those are all good points, randy, that need to be made, especially for organizers.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: If you're not, for instance, tomorrow we have Chrome and Coffee.
• 14:32
Speaker 1: It's the first Sunday of every month and it's from 9 to noon.
• 14:34
Speaker 1: Well, you get there close to noon, it's getting really hot, but there is a restaurant there that has air conditioning, food, water etc.
• 14:43
Speaker 1: That you can go into, and I think that all of us that attend that on a monthly basis we do that.
• 14:49
Speaker 1: We go there and get our coffee at 9 o'clock in the morning, walk around and everything's all fine, well and good.
• 14:54
Speaker 1: But as the day progresses and you're still outside, you really don't know, because it's a slow roll with the heat it gets bigger and bigger and bigger and you know it can really cause some damage.
• 15:04
Speaker 3: And that's another thing that we hadn't really touched on but food.
• 15:08
Speaker 3: You get out in the heat Sometimes you don't eat because you're hot, I don't want to eat, I don't eat, blah, blah, blah.
• 15:12
Speaker 3: But not eating also compounds it, because you get a little bit weaker, your sugar levels change, so you've got to at least have a few snacks.
• 15:22
Speaker 1: Now you remember this.
• 15:24
Speaker 1: Next week, when we're out in the heat, it's up to you once again.
• 15:27
Speaker 1: David always has snacks.
• 15:28
Speaker 1: David for David, not for us, so the charge is on you.
• 15:34
Speaker 1: We need snacks, water, shade, air conditioning, we need all that.
• 15:41
Speaker 2: Back rub, foot massage, a jacuzzi, those are coming later.
• 15:48
  Speaker 3: That's the hotel.
• 15:49
  Speaker 4: Randy's bringing that.
• 15:50
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I'll bring all that.
• 15:51
  Speaker 4: You know, there's a reason.
• 15:53
  Speaker 4: David's off camera.
• 15:54
Speaker 4: That's why he has the snacks over there Exactly he's taunting you guys not sharing.
• 15:59
Speaker 1: We took care of all that last weekend, thanks to Stan Holt, loopy Tortilla.
• 16:04
Speaker 1: After the big shoe, we went inside and had a great lunch.
• 16:09
  Speaker 1: Thank you, stan.
• 16:10
  Speaker 1: Thanks, loopy Tortilla.
• 16:11
Speaker 2: Thanks, chase, chase Murray.
• 16:13
Speaker 1: Yep, and so it was all good.
• 16:15
Speaker 1: I think planning is the key really.
• 16:19
Speaker 4: Planning is the key and you know you should start planning for a show at least four months in advance.
• 16:23
Speaker 1: Well yeah, especially if you're going to be the proprietor of the show right, yeah right, there's a lot to pull together.
• 16:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, one of the big things there is getting enough volunteers.
• 16:33
Speaker 4: Uh, you know these shows don't happen without volunteers, uh, but making sure you've got those people lined up for traffic and parking and you know, uh, who's going to take the money, who's going to register people, if you got any judging.
• 16:46
Speaker 2: Yeah, all that stuff, because one one or two people can't do it, no and then you got to get your trophies ordered and all that, yeah, yeah randy, it's great to talk to you and it's so great to see you.
• 16:55
Speaker 1: My friend, you're looking good see you guys.
• 16:57
Speaker 4: Thank you, you guys are looking great.
• 16:59
Speaker 4: I'll be out at twcc in the morning from uh about six o'clock until I think we finish up now about 10 before the heat.
• 17:07
Speaker 1: Tell everybody what TWCC is.
• 17:11
Speaker 4: It's the Woodlands Coffee and Cars for a Cause.
• 17:13
Speaker 4: I've got it on the list 100% of the proceeds go to charity.
• 17:17
Speaker 4: But when you guys are out, is it Chrome and Coffee?
• 17:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, when you're out there.
• 17:23
Speaker 4: There's a gentleman there by the name of Roger Lyle.
• 17:26
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we know, Roger sure.
• 17:27
  Speaker 4: You know Roger?
• 17:28
Speaker 4: Well, he actually lives next door to one of the guys that's in the Fab Five band.
• 17:33
Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't know that Well good.
• 17:35
Speaker 2: All right yeah we follow him on Facebook, absolutely.
• 17:38
Speaker 4: Randy Say hello to Roger for me, if you guys would.
• 17:41
  Speaker 1: We certainly will.
• 17:42
Speaker 1: We will do, randy, randy.
• 17:43
Speaker 1: Thanks again, my friend, take care of yourself, stay cool, thanks guys, y'all have a good one, thank you okay, alright alright, the Emerald Time Car Talk Show is available 24-7 Through the iHeartRadio app and Mars.

• 18:05
Speaker 2: Uh-huh, what was it?
• 18:05
Speaker 2: No, he said during a break he was going to go check the old gizmo.

• 20:58
Speaker 1: We ain't making it anymore, oh boy here you go.
• 21:02
Speaker 2: Well, these are vehicles that are no longer going to be made by different manufacturers and we kind of all know what they're going to be happening.
• 21:11
Speaker 2: But there's 30 of them out there.
• 21:12
Speaker 2: I picked eight because of time, but the first one, the one that stands out the most that we just got back, would be the chevrolet camaro.
• 21:19
Speaker 2: Gm is ending production of the chevrolet camaro after 2024 and it's sending it off with a collector's edition.
• 21:27
Speaker 2: Oh boy, who wants one?
• 21:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, and the rumor is it's coming back as an ev.
• 21:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the good luck on that.
• 21:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, sell lots of those, yeah, been another 10 years.
• 21:38
Speaker 2: The next one we have on board is the Dodge Durango.
• 21:41
Speaker 2: The three-row Durango is slated to be replaced by the stealth nameplate after 2024.
• 21:48
Speaker 2: The Durango name would come back later, according to rumors, on a body-on-frame SUV based on the Jeep Wagoneer's platform.
• 21:57
Speaker 2: So it will be back somewhere down the line line, a little redesigned and a little bit different platform.
• 22:02
  Speaker 2: Jeep cherokee.
• 22:04
Speaker 2: Back to the jeep.
• 22:05
  Speaker 2: Uh, nonsense here.
• 22:06
Speaker 2: Yes, the long-lived jeep cherokee nameplate hits the trail.
• 22:10
Speaker 2: In fact, production already ended earlier this year.
• 22:13
Speaker 2: In case you haven't noticed, the larger grand cherokee sticks around.
• 22:17
Speaker 2: So that's going to be.
• 22:18
Speaker 2: The bigger model will still be there.
• 22:20
Speaker 2: In case you want to get into one of those.
• 22:21
Speaker 1: Wasn't that a Paul Revere and the Raiders song?
• 22:24
  Speaker 2: Cherokee Nation.
• 22:25
Speaker 2: No, I thought it was Cher.
• 22:29
Speaker 1: No, that wasn't Cher.
• 22:30
Speaker 2: Contact Mike, if you know.
• 22:32
Speaker 3: I think Cher redid it.
• 22:33
Speaker 3: God would know that.
• 22:35
  Speaker 2: Ram 1500 TRX.
• 22:37
Speaker 2: Ram is concluding production of the hefty TRX with a final edition.
• 22:41
Speaker 2: Ram will bring an off-road capable 1500 RHO in 2025.
• 22:47
Speaker 2: Rho yeah, I know what that stands for.
• 22:50
Speaker 2: I just lost my train of thought.
• 22:52
  Speaker 1: Ram high output.
• 22:53
Speaker 2: No, it's something totally different Roto-router, high output.
• 22:56
Speaker 2: We'll look it up.
• 22:57
Speaker 2: And then the automaker insists that it's not a replacement for the more powerful TRX.
• 23:01
Speaker 2: But stay tuned, it could be, you never know.
• 23:04
Speaker 2: They do kind of fib every now and then.
• 23:05
Speaker 2: Ford Edge is another one.
• 23:08
Speaker 2: The midsize Ford Edge probably won't survive after this year.
• 23:11
Speaker 2: Do in part to get this labor disputes in the automaker's Oakville assembly plant in Canada.
• 23:17
  Speaker 2: Labor disputes.
• 23:18
Speaker 2: Remember when all the contracts and stuff were?
• 23:20
Speaker 4: going on and everybody.
• 23:21
Speaker 2: Oh, you know we're shutting down and we're going to strike and all that.
• 23:24
Speaker 2: Because of that, this brand is going away.
• 23:27
Speaker 2: Blue Oval's ongoing transition into the EVs maybe later on for this model, but because of the Canadian strike Because you've raised such a big stink.
• 23:36
Speaker 1: We're just going to close down the factory.
• 23:38
  Speaker 1: Shut her down.
• 23:40
Speaker 2: The next Ford is the transit connect.
• 23:42
Speaker 2: Ford's smallest work van, the transit connect, won't survive through 2024 mile a year.
• 23:46
Speaker 2: The company did have a new version of the transit planned using the mavericks platform check that out but those plans have reportedly been scrapped also.
• 23:55
Speaker 2: So I kind of like the little van.
• 23:58
  Speaker 2: I think it's cute.
• 23:59
Speaker 3: Uh, I could think around town, you know, did the engine blow up in it?
• 24:03
Speaker 2: I don't know, but it could use that.
• 24:05
Speaker 2: You could call some music equipment in it, some gear, all that good stuff.
• 24:09
Speaker 1: The next one on the list.
• 24:10
Speaker 1: You could put a couple of lawn chairs back there and put some shag carpet.
• 24:13
  Speaker 1: There you go.
• 24:14
  Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about.
• 24:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go.
• 24:16
  Speaker 2: Mercedes-benz c-class coupe.
• 24:23
Speaker 2: Who would have thunk this?
• 24:23
Speaker 2: The c-class convertible won't be the only discontinued version of the compact luxury car.
• 24:25
Speaker 2: Wow, mercedes also plans to kill off the c-class coupe at the same time, they only make a bajillion models.
• 24:32
  Speaker 1: What's?
• 24:32
Speaker 2: two, leaving only the sedan in the lineup for the foreseeable future.
• 24:36
Speaker 2: So the convertible and the coupe are away.
• 24:39
Speaker 2: Is the same platform, just cut the roof off.
• 24:41
Speaker 2: The last one, it is a ford escape uh, newly refreshed for 23 model.
• 24:46
Speaker 2: Uh, ford's popular escape compact suv is reportedly taking its leave in 2025 in order to usher in taking his leave going on leave, taking a leave, taking the leave, not the pill, uh, but what's it going to be?
• 25:00
Speaker 1: I was going to call it something else Mike knows.
• 25:02
Speaker 2: It's going to be an EV later on when they bring it back.
• 25:05
  Speaker 2: Yeah, okay.
• 25:07
Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, you just go for that.
• 25:11
  Speaker 2: There it is.
• 25:11
Speaker 2: I just dropped my paper.
• 25:12
Speaker 2: There it is gone.
• 25:13
Speaker 3: You did oh there it is I just threw with it?
• 25:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, with it anyway, you don't need it anymore.
• 25:23
Speaker 1: There it is, I got it for you.
• 25:24
Speaker 1: All right, I did have a little feature for you.
• 25:25
Speaker 1: Speaking of discontinuations, midsize sedan was once the quintessential family car in one of the most competitive segments in the United States.
• 25:32
Speaker 1: Not today, the story from Automotive News.
• 25:34
Speaker 1: When the nation's number three selling midsize sedan, the Chevy Malibu, ends production this year and the Subaru Legacy is discontinued after the 2025 model, there will be just five mainstream midsize sedans available in the US, all Asian imports.
• 25:52
Speaker 2: That Subaru was on my list, I just didn't put it on.
• 25:54
Speaker 1: Toyota Camry, honda Accord, nissan Altima, kia K5, and Hyundai Sonata.
• 26:03
Speaker 1: Those will be all of your midsize sedan choices.
• 26:07
Speaker 1: Toyota, which has struck with a widely diversified product portfolio, while others exited car segments say its top-selling, camry, is not going anywhere.
• 26:16
Speaker 1: Dave Christ, I guess.
• 26:21
  Speaker 1: Is it that?
• 26:22
  Speaker 1: Or Christ C-H-R-I-S-T.
• 26:24
Speaker 1: Christ Christ, yeah, okay, well, whatever Head of the Toyota brand in North America recently told Automotive News we still believe that it's worth investing in passenger cars and we're going to stay committed to it.
• 26:34
Speaker 1: So I can keep my job.
• 26:36
Speaker 1: Automotive News Research and Data Center has tracked US sales of every midsize sedan nameplate since 2009.
• 26:44
Speaker 1: As recently as 2012, midsize sedans commanded 16.7% of the US market.
• 26:49
Speaker 1: In 2023, shares fell to 5.7%.
• 26:55
Speaker 1: Uh-oh Well, that's just a small slice of the industry's long history.
• 26:59
Speaker 1: Data does yield some clues.
• 27:01
  Speaker 1: What happened?
• 27:02
  Speaker 1: The Great Recession?
• 27:03
Speaker 1: That's one of them.
• 27:06
Speaker 1: The crossover is today's family car.
• 27:09
Speaker 1: Consolidation of product portfolios.
• 27:12
  Speaker 1: Wait a minute.
• 27:13
Speaker 1: We're making 100,000 cars every day.
• 27:16
Speaker 1: Let's kind of cut that back.
• 27:17
Speaker 1: Because the lots are full at the dealerships, I'm not selling them.
• 27:18
Speaker 1: Let's kind of cut that back.
• 27:19
Speaker 1: Because the lots are full at the dealerships, I'm not selling them.
• 27:21
Speaker 1: And product planning resources and capital investments diverted to electrification in crossovers and luxury segments.
• 27:28
Speaker 1: How's that working out for you?
• 27:30
  Speaker 1: There's that.
• 27:31
Speaker 1: Okay, that was a little something.
• 27:35
