- 0:00Speaker 1: Every once in a while on this show, we get
- 0:02Speaker 1: kind of like I get little emotional updates from Peyton,
- 0:04Speaker 1: you know, Like I saw that post you maybe the
- 0:06Speaker 1: other day. It was really cool post by it. We
- 0:08Speaker 1: never talked about it where you had it seems like
- 0:10Speaker 1: you had a professional photographer come in here and you
- 0:12Speaker 1: were wearing the new John j and Rich merch. But
- 0:14Speaker 1: and I was like, this is really cool, and you're
- 0:16Speaker 1: like four years on the radio. I didn't know you've
- 0:18Speaker 1: been on the air four years.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I know. Yeah, my best friend Kelsey and I we
- 0:22Speaker 2: hit a poppy hour and then broke into the studio
- 0:24Speaker 2: late at night and did a.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Little photo shoot. Oh we that we didn't.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Really break that's cool you did, it said, but that
- 0:29Speaker 1: is illegal to come after hours.
- 0:31Speaker 3: It was way after hours.
- 0:33Speaker 1: But that was a really cool photo shoot that you posted.
- 0:35Speaker 1: It's John JA and Rich on Instagram and it's an
- 0:37Speaker 1: end the year post. I was like, Wow, she's been
- 0:38Speaker 1: on the air four years. It's cool. And then I
- 0:40Speaker 1: was I was listening to our show yesterday on the
- 0:42Speaker 1: podcast and heard some things you said, like, man, she's
- 0:44Speaker 1: really come a really long way. But then this thing
- 0:48Speaker 1: that you're talking about share this with us, please.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's really cool. It's something that I
- 0:53Speaker 2: did for myself seven years ago. I made basically, I
- 0:56Speaker 2: wrote a letter to myself and I posted on Facebook
- 0:59Speaker 2: so that I would have it all of the time
- 1:01Speaker 2: whenever I wanted to reference it back, and I usually
- 1:04Speaker 2: forget about it. But on this day every year, it
- 1:06Speaker 2: always pops up in my memory, and every time I
- 1:08Speaker 2: see it, it just makes me so happy and so
- 1:11Speaker 2: proud of the person that I've become and how I
- 1:13Speaker 2: was able to like get through some of the things
- 1:15Speaker 2: that I went through.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Because if you really really get to know me, like
- 1:18Speaker 3: there's some things that I've been through it, you know
- 1:20Speaker 3: what I mean.
- 1:21Speaker 2: At twenty seven years old, I'm like, dang, like really
- 1:24Speaker 2: like you really like like you persevered, you got through it,
- 1:27Speaker 2: you did your thing.
- 1:28Speaker 3: And at this time, I was in.
- 1:30Speaker 2: The worst stage of my life that I ever had.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I was going through a heartbreak that I thought was
- 1:34Speaker 2: like the end of the world. I weighed ninety pounds
- 1:37Speaker 2: as a basketball I have basketball player as a college athlete,
- 1:40Speaker 2: ninety pounds, Like that's not okay, you know, like something
- 1:43Speaker 2: was really going on there, And so it just also
- 1:46Speaker 2: really makes me like, look back at where my life
- 1:48Speaker 2: is now, and how thankful I am for my husband
- 1:50Speaker 2: Kadem because this post was seven years ago. We've been
- 1:54Speaker 2: together for six years, and I wouldn't be half the
- 1:56Speaker 2: person that I am today if it wasn't for him,
- 1:58Speaker 2: Like he's the one that I truly feel like saved
- 2:01Speaker 2: me from myself.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Will you read it? Is it a long letter?
- 2:04Speaker 3: It's kind of long, yeah, but not really well summarize
- 2:11Speaker 3: forget it.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I'll just see if you can read it. But I'm like, no, no, no, no,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I don't want you surmize that. Can you read it?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Is it better to read it to us as a
- 2:20Speaker 1: twenty seven year old looking back or is it better
- 2:23Speaker 1: to you to read it to us as the twenty
- 2:24Speaker 1: year old?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Like probably as the twenty year old?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Okay, will you read it? Do you say? Do you
- 2:29Speaker 1: start off with, dear Peyton?
- 2:30Speaker 3: How do I start off with? These last four months?
- 2:32Speaker 1: Okay? You're ready?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, okay, These last four months feel as if
- 2:37Speaker 2: the world has drop kicked me in the face.
- 2:40Speaker 3: But in all honesty, I probably needed it.
- 2:42Speaker 2: And as I sit back and I reflect on my
- 2:44Speaker 2: life and where I'm at right now in this very moment,
- 2:47Speaker 2: the only thing that comes to mind is how grateful
- 2:49Speaker 2: I am to live the life that I do. I
- 2:51Speaker 2: live in a city that I love. I'm surrounded by
- 2:53Speaker 2: people that I truly adore. I have the resources to
- 2:56Speaker 2: the places I need to be Oh my gosh, the
- 3:00Speaker 2: ability to wake up and play a sport that I love,
- 3:03Speaker 2: and the new knowledge and confidence to myself to know
- 3:05Speaker 2: when to let that go. In these last four months,
- 3:08Speaker 2: I've probably felt every emotion in the book. I felt
- 3:11Speaker 2: grief and regret to the point where it physically hurt.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I felt love in such an abundance where I literally
- 3:15Speaker 2: didn't know what to do with myself. And I felt
- 3:17Speaker 2: as if I was on top of the world and
- 3:19Speaker 2: no one can bring me down. I've learned how to
- 3:21Speaker 2: be a better friend, I've learned how to be a
- 3:22Speaker 2: better daughter, and I've learned how to do right by others.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I'm hurting and healing at the same damn time, and
- 3:27Speaker 2: I'm not exactly sure how that even works. Being twenty
- 3:29Speaker 2: is hard, and trying to figure out what to do
- 3:31Speaker 2: with your life when you thought you had it all
- 3:33Speaker 2: figured out is even harder. These last four months, I
- 3:39Speaker 2: found myself I fought my purpose and I want to
- 3:42Speaker 2: express emotions freely and love endlessly. So here's some pictures
- 3:45Speaker 2: and videos of my life from the last four months
- 3:47Speaker 2: with the memories that make me the happiest. A lot
- 3:49Speaker 2: of tears came before and after some of these, but
- 3:51Speaker 2: just know that the internal growth was there.
- 3:53Speaker 3: That's cute when you're starting to get choked up. What
- 3:56Speaker 3: were you feeling that, twenty year old?
- 3:57Speaker 1: What was that? What were you feeling right there?
- 3:59Speaker 2: I mean I literally felt like my world was crashing
- 4:02Speaker 2: and burning and ending.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Like it's pretty mature though for twenty two it's pretty insightful.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Well yeah, And I mean I've shared with you guys before,
- 4:09Speaker 2: like when I was in college, like I got admitted
- 4:12Speaker 2: to a hell behavioral unit, Like I was in the
- 4:14Speaker 2: psych ward.
- 4:14Speaker 3: For a week and a half. Yeah, you know what
- 4:17Speaker 3: I mean, that's crazy.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I said. I didn't mean it. I didn't mean it
- 4:21Speaker 1: like that. I've been trying to get Judgy to get
- 4:25Speaker 1: an endorsement for a sing word for himself for a
- 4:27Speaker 1: long time. Hey, that was a beautiful letter to himself
- 4:29Speaker 1: or the way you read it. And I mean, so
- 4:31Speaker 1: I'm proud of you and I thought that was great
- 4:33Speaker 1: in fact I got a little emotional by I put
- 4:34Speaker 1: myself back to it. When I get emotional, I look
- 4:36Speaker 1: at Kyle and then I laughed.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Right, it would be cool for you to do one
- 4:39Speaker 3: think of rude.
- 4:40Speaker 1: No, because I was watching you with a serious face.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Makes me laugh so much. You should write a letter
- 4:48Speaker 3: to yourself now for later. Actually, what I do on
- 4:50Speaker 3: this You write a letter to.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Richard tell him to tell you, not to tell you
- 4:53Speaker 1: what to do?
- 4:54Speaker 3: Right, to stop it?
- 4:55Speaker 2: No, I actually re share this post every day, so
- 4:57Speaker 2: over the last every day, over the last every year.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Excuse me, so over the last six years.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Like I do like little status updates, you know what
- 5:05Speaker 2: I mean, Like where I am right now. But yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 2: it's just crazy to think about, like where I was
- 5:10Speaker 2: as a freshman in college, and then to see where
- 5:12Speaker 2: I was ending up my senior year of college, and
- 5:14Speaker 2: then to see where I am now, Like I'm just
- 5:16Speaker 2: a completely different person, but the best parts of me
- 5:20Speaker 2: are still here.
- 5:20Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 5:21Speaker 1: You're so well spoken. That's so well said. And I
- 5:24Speaker 1: love that you use the word abundance. That's a cool word.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I don't think people use that word enough in speech.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Oh it's nice in speak.
- 5:32Speaker 3: You kick out.
- 5:33Speaker 1: So yesterday somebody used the word in front of me,
- 5:35Speaker 1: and I wrote it down to use later on you guys.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah, what is it?
- 5:37Speaker 1: Modular?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Oh?
- 5:38Speaker 1: Nice, go ahead, I'm just gonna drop it at some point.
- 5:40Speaker 1: You'll see, like Payne's letter was pretty modular.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know if it applies there.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I asked me. I said, I suppos to me. He says,
- 5:49Speaker 1: like you could take put things apart, take things off,
- 5:51Speaker 1: and put it back on. I was like, right now,
- 5:52Speaker 1: that letter, Kyle, I could take things out, put things back.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I mean, when you describe it like that, I guess
- 5:56Speaker 3: I could.
- 5:56Speaker 1: See that it's modular. Anyway, Well done, Payton. I'm glad
- 5:59Speaker 1: you're here.
