- 0:05Speaker 1: It's the Inside Scoop with FT senior insider Ken Rosenthal
- 0:09Speaker 1: this weekend, he's got the Dodgers and the Brewers.
- 0:11Speaker 2: AJ we'll be on that call as well.
- 0:14Speaker 1: And I'm calling this the learn Nothing Series Ken, Why
- 0:17Speaker 1: because it's going to be entertaining.
- 0:19Speaker 3: But if you look.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Back at last year, the Brewers dusted the Dodgers during
- 0:23Speaker 1: the regular season, they won all six and then the
- 0:26Speaker 1: Dodgers schooled the Brewers in the playoffs with their playoff
- 0:29Speaker 1: roster that looks different from the regular season. So can
- 0:32Speaker 1: you convince us that we're actually going to learn anything
- 0:35Speaker 1: about this matchup or are we just going to be
- 0:37Speaker 1: entertained With two of the best teams in baseball.
- 0:40Speaker 4: We're going to be entertained. And we're always learning all
- 0:43Speaker 4: the time about teams and how they're evolving. Now, the
- 0:46Speaker 4: one thing that could be different this year, and let's
- 0:50Speaker 4: look ahead to the playoffs. Let's in our heads play
- 0:53Speaker 4: this out and imagine a Dodgers, Brewers and LCS. Well,
- 0:58Speaker 4: what's different. Jacob Mazerowski different, Kyle Harrison is different. They
- 1:02Speaker 4: are guys who are performing at an elite level. Now
- 1:05Speaker 4: by October who knows, of course, But when you have
- 1:08Speaker 4: that type of starting pitching, you have the ability to
- 1:11Speaker 4: do some special things, and they had to a degree
- 1:13Speaker 4: last year. Of course in that playoff series as well.
- 1:15Speaker 4: The Dodgers are really hot, and frankly, it took nothing
- 1:19Speaker 4: away from me from what the Brewers accomplished. I know
- 1:22Speaker 4: we measure teams by World Series appearances, world Series victories,
- 1:26Speaker 4: but the regular season is the true test, or the
- 1:31Speaker 4: big test, bigger test of a team's quality. And the
- 1:34Speaker 4: Brewers won ninety nine games last year. They were quality team.
- 1:39Speaker 5: I want to talk about this series too a little bit.
- 1:41Speaker 6: What give me something right now that you think the
- 1:45Speaker 6: Brewers have another opportunity of sweeping this series. Can talk
- 1:49Speaker 6: a little about how good they've been playing, and how
- 1:52Speaker 6: you know, the Dodgers have been playing good.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Enough, but they just they're doing what they've been doing.
- 1:56Speaker 6: Like this Milwaukee team I thought was gonna be good,
- 1:59Speaker 6: but I didn't think they were gonna be this good.
- 2:01Speaker 4: If you want the truth, neither to die Todd. And
- 2:04Speaker 4: it seems like I think that and most people think that.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Every year.
- 2:08Speaker 4: They traded Freddy Peralta and Brandon Woodruff got hurt right away,
- 2:12Speaker 4: they had some other injuries to Vaughan to Cheerio to Yelich,
- 2:15Speaker 4: and yet here they are their top five team, in
- 2:17Speaker 4: the top five team and runs per game. They are
- 2:20Speaker 4: performing at their usual elite level, and a lot has
- 2:25Speaker 4: to be said for their culture and just the way
- 2:27Speaker 4: they go about it. But they also have a habit,
- 2:31Speaker 4: particularly on the pitching side, of making players better. And
- 2:34Speaker 4: we've seen it time and time again Tobias Myers in
- 2:37Speaker 4: twenty four, Quinn Priester last year, and now Kyle Harrison
- 2:41Speaker 4: traded twice in span of what six months, and now
- 2:45Speaker 4: here he is with the Brewers and suddenly he's an ace.
- 2:48Speaker 4: It's not an accident that these things happen. And what's
- 2:51Speaker 4: so intriguing about them, too, is that they have prospects
- 2:55Speaker 4: coming who might be better than some of the players
- 2:58Speaker 4: that they have right now. The shortstop Cooper Pratt, the
- 3:00Speaker 4: third basement Jet Williams, and then a center fielder named
- 3:04Speaker 4: Laura Luis Laura who is also tearing up triple A.
- 3:07Speaker 4: So they have options abounding, and if they want to
- 3:12Speaker 4: make a trade to get some help at some point,
- 3:15Speaker 4: they can properly do that. But I don't know that
- 3:17Speaker 4: there is a spot right now outside of pitching in
- 3:20Speaker 4: the bullpen where you always can use help, where they
- 3:23Speaker 4: really need to do something major. It's two months away,
- 3:26Speaker 4: okay from the deadline, but that's the way I see it,
- 3:28Speaker 4: at least right now.
- 3:32Speaker 7: Again, I gotta take one moment just to compliment you
- 3:35Speaker 7: on the quality of the camera and the lighting day
- 3:37Speaker 7: is really really good.
- 3:39Speaker 3: You look great. I gotta You're welcome.
- 3:43Speaker 7: So we know about the six to oh Brewers last year,
- 3:48Speaker 7: and then the playoffs were the opposite, and it seems
- 3:51Speaker 7: like them o on the Brewers see is rock steady,
- 3:55Speaker 7: like they come in day and day out. They'll respond
- 3:57Speaker 7: when they give a proper runs, so of course they
- 3:59Speaker 7: can grind out these wins. And it seems to be
- 4:02Speaker 7: a little bit of a different story and maybe that
- 4:03Speaker 7: style of play isn't as potent.
- 4:06Speaker 3: In the playoffs.
- 4:06Speaker 7: So as we're watching this series because they are two
- 4:10Speaker 7: teams that are operating in the same way that they
- 4:11Speaker 7: did last year, it's the kind of their their philosophy.
- 4:15Speaker 7: What are some things to maybe look for in the
- 4:18Speaker 7: Brewers team that might indicate maybe a little more of
- 4:22Speaker 7: that star power, maybe something that might translate to a
- 4:25Speaker 7: playoff series more than maybe it has in the past.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Well, one thing that is continually concerning is they don't
- 4:34Speaker 4: really hit home runs. I believe they're last in the
- 4:37Speaker 4: league in homers right now. And yes, they score a
- 4:39Speaker 4: bunch of runs, they get runners on, they move them over,
- 4:42Speaker 4: they do all those things. But in the playoffs, obviously
- 4:46Speaker 4: you need or it's helpful to have that kind of
- 4:49Speaker 4: power to game changing power, which it's potentially there with
- 4:54Speaker 4: Vaughn and Churio and Yelich, but it's not there to
- 4:57Speaker 4: the same extent. Contraras's is another one with power our potential.
- 5:01Speaker 4: So that's something that is troubling to me as I
- 5:05Speaker 4: look to them and going way ahead towards the playoffs.
- 5:08Speaker 4: But at the same time, we always sell this team
- 5:13Speaker 4: short and talk about what they can't do. But what
- 5:16Speaker 4: they do do is win games, and that can't be denied.
- 5:20Speaker 4: It's not a new thing. It's not a trend. They've
- 5:23Speaker 4: been the dominant team in this division for five or
- 5:25Speaker 4: six years now, the dominant team in a division with
- 5:28Speaker 4: the Chago Cubs and the Saint Louis Cardinals. Cardinals now rebuilding.
- 5:32Speaker 4: So as I look at them and as I wonder
- 5:37Speaker 4: where they're going to go, as we get towards the
- 5:40Speaker 4: latter part of the season. One, will they promote some
- 5:42Speaker 4: of these younger players and will they make an impact?
- 5:45Speaker 4: And two, we'll see where they are at the deadline
- 5:49Speaker 4: and whether they feel they need to add a bat.
- 5:51Speaker 5: My guess is they.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Won't feel that and or at least won't be willing
- 5:54Speaker 4: to pay the price for that. So again, it's going
- 5:58Speaker 4: to be interesting to see one in the division race,
- 6:01Speaker 4: how this all plays out With the Cubs. We saw
- 6:04Speaker 4: how it played out this week, same old story, Brewers dominant,
- 6:08Speaker 4: but over the course of the season two, we'll see
- 6:10Speaker 4: how it all transpires.
- 6:13Speaker 8: We love our dog Fella, who splays out in the
- 6:15Speaker 8: open sun on our floor like she's an underwear model,
- 6:18Speaker 8: and that's why we love her so much.
- 6:20Speaker 3: To scratch her belly.
- 6:22Speaker 2: She's a cutie.
- 6:23Speaker 1: That BELLA and a quick message from today's sponsor, the

- 7:13Speaker 5: Let's talk a little.
- 7:14Speaker 6: Bit of Mariner baseball here just came to our attention
- 7:17Speaker 6: as you as you talked about JP Crawford is a
- 7:20Speaker 6: team guy as we know, Absolute studs DIY and he
- 7:23Speaker 6: talks about moving a third base to make room for
- 7:25Speaker 6: Colt Emerson. Can you talk a little about that, and
- 7:29Speaker 6: you know how this can only help the Mariners and
- 7:31Speaker 6: you see where this team really wants to be to
- 7:33Speaker 6: try and win a championship.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Well, Todd, I've been paying attention to JP Crawford and
- 7:38Speaker 4: how he's handled the contract that Colt Emerson received eight
- 7:42Speaker 4: years ninety five million and his own free agency and
- 7:46Speaker 4: the promotion of Emerson as well, because this is potentially,
- 7:51Speaker 4: and in most cases probably would be a very sticky situation.
- 7:55Speaker 4: You've got the guy who's played the most games at
- 7:58Speaker 4: shortstop in Mariners history, the youngest tenured player, and yet
- 8:02Speaker 4: you have a kid that you're promoting. He's a number
- 8:05Speaker 4: one draft pick a couple of years ago. He gave
- 8:07Speaker 4: him the contract with JP Crawford a free agent, and
- 8:11Speaker 4: to me, for a guy in that position like Crawford,
- 8:14Speaker 4: that is a really difficult spot. And yet the way
- 8:17Speaker 4: he is handling it with such professionalism and grace, I
- 8:21Speaker 4: thought it was worth writing a story about, and that's
- 8:23Speaker 4: why I did it. And here's a guy who again
- 8:27Speaker 4: is going out of his way to help Emerson. Emerson
- 8:31Speaker 4: told me that he's been an incredible help to him,
- 8:34Speaker 4: and he doesn't see it Crawford as a situation where
- 8:38Speaker 4: it's competition necessarily. He sees it as, hey, we can
- 8:41Speaker 4: make our team better with this kid around. Now. He
- 8:45Speaker 4: walks into Dan Wilson's office on Sunday and says, Okay,
- 8:49Speaker 4: I'll play third base if necessary, and again to switch
- 8:53Speaker 4: positions in a free agent year with the only goal
- 8:56Speaker 4: trying to win. That to me is pretty commendable and
- 9:01Speaker 4: unusual as well. So hats off to JP Crawford and
- 9:04Speaker 4: I was happy to write that. I like writing stories
- 9:07Speaker 4: like that because to me, when he when you tell
- 9:10Speaker 4: me Todd, it's really cool.
- 9:13Speaker 6: I think it's absolutely fantastic. You don't, you know nowadays,
- 9:17Speaker 6: especially man people trying to get theirs and you know,
- 9:20Speaker 6: to see there could be a little bit of anger,
- 9:24Speaker 6: could be a little bit of why not me and
- 9:26Speaker 6: that kind of stuff. But to talk like that, it
- 9:29Speaker 6: can only bode well for this team, especially, you know,
- 9:32Speaker 6: with the team they have, they have opportunities to make
- 9:34Speaker 6: a big run for sure.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And also in Ken I mean, JP Crawford definitely went
- 9:40Speaker 1: through his struggles with Philly, and I know, you know,
- 9:42Speaker 1: it's been pointed out like, yeah, you thought about quitting
- 9:45Speaker 1: all of that. So sometimes you look from the outside
- 9:48Speaker 1: or even from many other players, like hey, aren't you
- 9:50Speaker 1: kind of giving some leverage away by saying how once
- 9:53Speaker 1: you love Seattle and you want to stay there?
- 9:55Speaker 5: Right?
- 9:55Speaker 2: The Mariners are going to know that they're not stupid.
- 9:57Speaker 2: It's a business.
- 9:59Speaker 1: It seems like he don't care, right Like, it seems
- 10:01Speaker 1: like a guy who will take the hometown discount if
- 10:05Speaker 1: given that there's always a threshold, right, if it's a
- 10:09Speaker 1: total low ball offer, and there's five other teams offering
- 10:12Speaker 1: him something in another stratosphere, that's different. But I mean,
- 10:15Speaker 1: we see these scenarios pop up, not very often, but
- 10:18Speaker 1: where he might survey the market and then bring it
- 10:22Speaker 1: back and the Mariners might have something lower, but it's
- 10:23Speaker 1: close enough, and he'll say, this is the spot where
- 10:26Speaker 1: I've found a home and they've supported me and gotten
- 10:28Speaker 1: me to this place.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Right, we still have that. We don't have as much
- 10:31Speaker 2: of that. I feel like these days.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Well I asked about this. I said, why are you
- 10:35Speaker 4: sold loyal to Seattle? What is driving that? And he said, Hey,
- 10:38Speaker 4: I've been here eight years. Fans have supported me the
- 10:41Speaker 4: whole time, and they deserve a World Series. They haven't
- 10:45Speaker 4: had one in fifty years. That's their franchise history, and
- 10:49Speaker 4: I want to bring it to them. And that's where
- 10:51Speaker 4: he's coming from. And he even goes back to when
- 10:54Speaker 4: he was in his early days with the Mariners after
- 10:56Speaker 4: the trade from Philly. He talked about Kyle Siegert and
- 11:00Speaker 4: being so helpful to him, and he wants to pay
- 11:02Speaker 4: that forward to guys like Emerson and cult Young. So
- 11:06Speaker 4: really it seems to me his heart's in the right place.
- 11:09Speaker 4: And yes, it might cost the leverage, and it's going
- 11:11Speaker 4: to be a really interesting situation in the offseason with
- 11:15Speaker 4: him because the position player market in free agency is
- 11:18Speaker 4: going to be quite thin. We know that there just
- 11:22Speaker 4: isn't a great number of quality players available. He is
- 11:26Speaker 4: still a quality offensive player, and he might be a
- 11:28Speaker 4: really good defender and third we're gonna find out. So
- 11:32Speaker 4: in that scenario, the Mariners could have an opening in
- 11:34Speaker 4: left field with a rose arena of potential free agent.
- 11:37Speaker 4: They could have an opening in third base as well,
- 11:41Speaker 4: because obviously Crawford is a free agent and they don't
- 11:44Speaker 4: know exactly where this is going other than Emerson will
- 11:47Speaker 4: be the shortstop, so maybe Brendan Donovan is the primary
- 11:50Speaker 4: guy at one of those positions. Who knows, But there
- 11:53Speaker 4: could be a spot for Crawford, and I would expect
- 11:56Speaker 4: the Mariners would treat him fairly and not try to
- 11:58Speaker 4: take advantage of him. Guy who's meant a lot of
- 12:01Speaker 4: that franchise. But we'll have to see how it all
- 12:04Speaker 4: goes in the off.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Season, Kenna, I want to ask you a follow up
- 12:08Speaker 1: question about your story yesterday in regards to the Rays
- 12:12Speaker 1: and the Dodger or the Angels talking a few years
- 12:15Speaker 1: ago in twenty three around the deadline for Shoho Tani
- 12:17Speaker 1: and the deal could have included guys like Junior Camonaro
- 12:21Speaker 1: and Carson Williams, who is a top end prospect hasn't
- 12:24Speaker 1: panned out yet for the Rays, but Kameronaro's obviously stud
- 12:27Speaker 1: So can.
- 12:28Speaker 2: We learn anything about scenarios like that?
- 12:31Speaker 1: I look at that, and I look at when Freddie
- 12:34Speaker 1: Freeman supposedly was courted by the Rays, and I go, wait,
- 12:36Speaker 1: so can you go after big name free agents? Can
- 12:39Speaker 1: you go after a trade deadline target who cost ten
- 12:42Speaker 1: million dollars?
- 12:43Speaker 2: Or can't you?
- 12:44Speaker 1: And I'm asking this because I'm trying to spin it forward.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Here are the Rays, one of the top teams in
- 12:49Speaker 1: the sport, new owner, great time to make us splash.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Didn't happen in the offseason.
- 12:53Speaker 1: That's not their style, but they're good if something emerges,
- 12:57Speaker 1: like can the Rays trade for Trek Skoobl.
- 12:59Speaker 2: At the deadline?
- 12:59Speaker 1: At the fall apart, I'm trying to just conjure up
- 13:02Speaker 1: a scenario here where fans in that area I'm close enough,
- 13:05Speaker 1: you know, living in Orlando, actually go, you know what,
- 13:07Speaker 1: this team's not cheap anymore. They're good and they actually
- 13:09Speaker 1: did something to try and make a push Scott.
- 13:12Speaker 4: The answer to that question is yes, and they are
- 13:16Speaker 4: active at almost every deadline on big name players. Now,
- 13:20Speaker 4: they haven't landed one, and they might not be as
- 13:24Speaker 4: well positioned as some other teams to make that kind
- 13:26Speaker 4: of move, but going back to the days of Andrew Friedman,
- 13:29Speaker 4: they would play on big names. And again it's not
- 13:33Speaker 4: going to be easy for them, necessarily from a financial standpoint,
- 13:36Speaker 4: but with new ownership the hope of a new ballpark,
- 13:40Speaker 4: this seemingly would be the season to do it. And
- 13:43Speaker 4: yes they I would expect if Tterrek'schooble becomes available, just
- 13:47Speaker 4: as an example, and by the way, we are two
- 13:50Speaker 4: months away from the Tarrek schoobl conversation. We have no
- 13:53Speaker 4: idea what's going to happen here, so it's a little
- 13:55Speaker 4: early to get into that. But if he does become available,
- 13:59Speaker 4: then yeah, I would expect they would play. Because with
- 14:03Speaker 4: the Otani thing it was quite serious. Now it didn't happen,
- 14:07Speaker 4: but it didn't happen because of their reluctance. It happened
- 14:09Speaker 4: because Artie Moreno was not willing to trade Otani even
- 14:12Speaker 4: as a rental toward the end of the twenty three seasons.
- 14:15Speaker 4: So I know some might get the impression. Yeah, the
- 14:19Speaker 4: Rays always throw their hat in there, but they're never
- 14:22Speaker 4: doing anything. I would think at one point or at
- 14:25Speaker 4: some point, they are going to do something, and they
- 14:29Speaker 4: are a team this year that is surprising us all again.
- 14:33Speaker 4: And yes, at the deadline, if they have a chance
- 14:35Speaker 4: to improve and they're in this kind of position, I
- 14:38Speaker 4: would expect that they would try to do just that.
- 14:44Speaker 7: Speaking of art Moreno, let's talk a little bit about
- 14:48Speaker 7: the Angels, who are six and twenty four in their
- 14:51Speaker 7: last thirty and the fans don't seem to be happy.
- 14:54Speaker 3: As you can hear right here.
- 15:06Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure that was tarps Off too, which is
- 15:10Speaker 7: double tough. I believe it or not have heard that before.
- 15:14Speaker 7: So I'm gonna ask you just a really super detailed question.
- 15:18Speaker 7: Why can the Angels, being in that market not figure.
- 15:23Speaker 3: This thing out?
- 15:23Speaker 7: How are they consistently a below five hundred team with
- 15:27Speaker 7: the resources and honestly, the talent they don't. It's not
- 15:30Speaker 7: like they don't have the talent either. What do you
- 15:32Speaker 7: think the main reason for that is.
- 15:36Speaker 4: The main reason stuck to the top with the guy
- 15:38Speaker 4: that they are urging to sell the team. But it's
- 15:41Speaker 4: not just that they have done some things with development
- 15:45Speaker 4: that have been questionable that people have pointed out in
- 15:48Speaker 4: even recent days. So there's a long way to go
- 15:53Speaker 4: there before they are clicking as an organization and an
- 15:56Speaker 4: efficient organization, they're a long way from that. Frankly, they
- 16:01Speaker 4: should be embarrassed because if you look at the team
- 16:03Speaker 4: to the south, San Diego, and if you look at
- 16:05Speaker 4: the team to the north, the Los Angeles Dodgers, those
- 16:08Speaker 4: two teams seemingly have figured it out much different ways.
- 16:12Speaker 4: But you can say what you want about the Padres.
- 16:14Speaker 4: They're competitive every year. So a lot of people feel
- 16:19Speaker 4: that it's going to take a new owner because if
- 16:21Speaker 4: you bring in another general manager Perrimanezen in the last
- 16:24Speaker 4: year of his contract, they likely will bring in another
- 16:26Speaker 4: general manager. It's not going to change until what's going
- 16:30Speaker 4: on off top changes, and what the general managers do
- 16:33Speaker 4: is largely a reflection of the way or the direction
- 16:37Speaker 4: that they're given from the top. At the same time,
- 16:41Speaker 4: they do need to do a better job in every aspect, drafting, development, scouting, analytics.
- 16:47Speaker 4: They believe others in the industry do not believe. But
- 16:51Speaker 4: they believe that their farm system is improving and they've
- 16:54Speaker 4: got some things going on that are really good down there. Okay,
- 16:58Speaker 4: but at some point you've got to say, and we
- 17:01Speaker 4: have not seen it in that franchise or from that
- 17:03Speaker 4: franchise in a long time.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been way too long, and you're hearing it
- 17:09Speaker 1: right now during a movement in our sport tarps off
- 17:12Speaker 1: that's got to revitalized young crowd in the bleachers in
- 17:16Speaker 1: some stadiums that's going to say whatever they want and
- 17:18Speaker 1: it's bringing some extra attention there. Okay, let's have some
- 17:21Speaker 1: fun on a Friday to finish up. So this tweet
- 17:24Speaker 1: that we're going to get into after we finish our
- 17:26Speaker 1: chat with Ken, but we want to get his thoughts first.
- 17:29Speaker 1: MLB Stadium tier list someone MLB Zone on Twitter put
- 17:33Speaker 1: this out there, what would you change? And for the
- 17:35Speaker 1: podcast listening crad I'll go over all of this in
- 17:37Speaker 1: more detail in a moment, but I just want to
- 17:39Speaker 1: give you the elite and then the bad the bad
- 17:41Speaker 1: raise an A's I mean, that's what he has on
- 17:43Speaker 1: his list or she. On the elite side, it's it's Orioles, Pirates, Padres,
- 17:48Speaker 1: Red Sox, Giants, Cubs, and then there's a bunch of
- 17:50Speaker 1: between on a good average and below average. Can anything
- 17:52Speaker 1: you want to point out positively or negatively about this
- 17:56Speaker 1: tier list that was put together, Well, we all.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Have our opinions, right, and I have no problem with
- 18:01Speaker 4: the elite list to be those are all elite stadiums.
- 18:05Speaker 4: I might add Seattle to the elite list. I love
- 18:08Speaker 4: that park. I might drop Arizona from the good list
- 18:12Speaker 4: and drop it to average. They're gonna do some renovations there.
- 18:16Speaker 4: They need to do some renovations there. And the other
- 18:18Speaker 4: one that I might elevate from average to good would
- 18:22Speaker 4: be Cleveland. I love Progressive Field. That's to me, one
- 18:25Speaker 4: of the more charming, better ballparks. They've done a great
- 18:28Speaker 4: job with it, So i'd have that in there. And
- 18:30Speaker 4: where's Toronto. Okay, Toronto's the good that they should be there.
- 18:34Speaker 4: They've done a lot to that place. It's improved quite
- 18:37Speaker 4: a bit.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Okay, so they've done it.
- 18:39Speaker 1: They did a pretty nice job with this tier list, right,
- 18:41Speaker 1: yet a few things where you move up one, move
- 18:43Speaker 1: down one. Okay, it's all I like it. Yeah, that's
- 18:48Speaker 1: the point. Yeah, that's the fun part of this.
- 18:50Speaker 5: Right.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Some people are going to go somewhere and have a
- 18:51Speaker 1: bad experience, and some people are going to go somewhere
- 18:53Speaker 1: and be like, this place is underrated. So we'll do
- 18:56Speaker 1: that homework right now with Todd Father and Trevor well Ken.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Enjoy the Dodgers Brewer series and we'll watch on Saturday
- 19:03Speaker 1: on Fox.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Thanks guys, thank you.

- 20:02Speaker 1: Taxes and fees extra see mint mobile for details. Okay,
- 20:07Speaker 1: let's keep it rolling here. Can we show the list
- 20:09Speaker 1: again so we can set the board. I already went
- 20:11Speaker 1: over the top and the bottom. Let me just give
- 20:14Speaker 1: the middle here. Good has Mariners, Tigers, Brewers, Braves, Yankees,
- 20:19Speaker 1: Blue Jays, Rangers, Dodgers, Diamondbacks.
- 20:21Speaker 2: That's the longest list they have.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Average is right below there with Cardinals, Rockies, Mets, Astros, Guardians, Twins, Phillies,
- 20:29Speaker 1: and Nationals. Then the below average list is the Marlins,
- 20:32Speaker 1: the Royals, the Angels, the White Sox, and the Reds. Okay, Todd, father,
- 20:37Speaker 1: you can kick this off and tell me some parts
- 20:39Speaker 1: of it that you like or that you don't like.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I feel like there's a lot in the middle tiers
- 20:43Speaker 1: here where I would take a team and move it
- 20:45Speaker 1: up a notra to take a team move down a
- 20:47Speaker 1: notre two.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Where are you at?
- 20:49Speaker 6: So for me, my number one problem is Colorado. I
- 20:53Speaker 6: think that is an elite stadium. I absolutely love that place.
- 20:57Speaker 6: The views are incredible. I think that should be elite.
- 21:04Speaker 6: I would put the San Francisco Giants down to average,
- 21:08Speaker 6: and my I would switch those two my Cincinnati Reds.
- 21:13Speaker 5: Dude, that stadium is great. I'm putting that one at good.
- 21:16Speaker 6: And if I had to switch one of them, I
- 21:18Speaker 6: would put Diamondbacks to below average.
- 21:21Speaker 5: So those are my two complaints.
- 21:23Speaker 6: I love Colorado. I think Colorado is elite. I think
- 21:26Speaker 6: the Reds are good. I would move Giants down.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I think the Rockies home ballpark experience is fantastic, and
- 21:35Speaker 1: the fans and even out of towners, they go there regularly,
- 21:38Speaker 1: and that's why the attendance numbers stay up.
- 21:40Speaker 2: It's not for the performance.
- 21:41Speaker 1: If you weren't aware before I get to Trevor, I
- 21:44Speaker 1: know fans are going to want more on this. Todd Father,
- 21:47Speaker 1: you you took the Giants, you went down two notches,
- 21:50Speaker 1: So tell me about it is that. Does any of
- 21:53Speaker 1: that have to do with like your experience or like
- 21:55Speaker 1: the inner workings of the ballpark, or do you just
- 21:58Speaker 1: not love the weather.
- 21:59Speaker 5: What else?
- 22:00Speaker 2: What do you got?
- 22:00Speaker 6: Yeah, it would be that marine climate are the weather.
- 22:05Speaker 6: You don't know what you're gonna get there. I don't know, man.
- 22:10Speaker 6: I like California. I don't love it, you know, I'm not.
- 22:14Speaker 6: I wouldn't live there, you know what I mean. I
- 22:16Speaker 6: like the East Coast kind of St.
- 22:17Speaker 5: Jersey boy. Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 6: Yeah, anytime I go to San Francisco, you know, I'm
- 22:21Speaker 6: excited to play. But at the same time, I'm like,
- 22:24Speaker 6: it's a big ballpark, man, for a hit or two
- 22:26Speaker 6: to get one out of there. So I'm sure the
- 22:29Speaker 6: fan experience is great. It's right on the water, But yeah,
- 22:33Speaker 6: I just think it's just an average ballpark.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I like it, and I like that little note in
- 22:37Speaker 1: there too. You are one of thousands of major leaguers now,
- 22:42Speaker 1: Todd Father, who do not like the dimensions of that
- 22:45Speaker 1: ballpark and the way that it plays. Ask basically their
- 22:50Speaker 1: entire lineup right now for their thoughts on the ballpark.
- 22:55Speaker 5: They want to road for the rest of the year.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the opposite of Act of the Rockies.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Okay, Trevor, slice and dice, all right.
- 23:05Speaker 7: I will I will say I'm gonna keep the Giants there.
- 23:07Speaker 7: But I do understand as a hitter, as I myself
- 23:11Speaker 7: have gone there and tried to hit homers with a juice.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Metal bad only got two outs.
- 23:16Speaker 7: I can I can only imagine what it's like facing
- 23:19Speaker 7: big league hitting pitching. But at the same time, I've
- 23:21Speaker 7: also given up two homers there in one game, so
- 23:24Speaker 7: I guess maybe it doesn't really matter. I have a
- 23:27Speaker 7: couple of adjustments.
- 23:28Speaker 5: One.
- 23:28Speaker 7: First of all, I don't know why the Cardinals aren't
- 23:30Speaker 7: getting any love. I would put them in the good
- 23:31Speaker 7: I would swap them with Arizona at least I would also,
- 23:36Speaker 7: and some of this is gonna be colored, like you know,
- 23:39Speaker 7: I think of Arizona. I think about. All I can
- 23:41Speaker 7: remember is all the homers give I gave a way.
- 23:44Speaker 7: I've only pitched out three times. I give it way
- 23:45Speaker 7: too many homers for only three appearances. Colorado needs to
- 23:49Speaker 7: go up to good for sure. At least I probably
- 23:51Speaker 7: put it in the elite, but.
- 23:53Speaker 3: It's got to be up there.
- 23:55Speaker 7: I'm moving New Texas down to below average because I
- 23:58Speaker 7: just don't I just don't like the way the stadium.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Is put together or the way it's built.
- 24:02Speaker 7: I don't like that the that it feels that you're
- 24:04Speaker 7: gonna warehouse.
- 24:05Speaker 3: I don't like the shape of it.
- 24:06Speaker 7: It's very like it looks like a fieldhouse. And the
- 24:10Speaker 7: you can't see the scoreboard if you're on the field,
- 24:12Speaker 7: which is crazy. So uh, all of those things. Yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 7: maybe it's hard for me to check the talent meter.
- 24:17Speaker 7: AKA they raid our gun too. Maybe that was part
- 24:19Speaker 7: of it. I move the phillies up the good. I
- 24:21Speaker 7: think Citizens Bank is an awesome park. I think the
- 24:23Speaker 7: atmosphere is really cool. I think it's it's really nice
- 24:25Speaker 7: and you can eat as many cheese steaks as you
- 24:27Speaker 7: want in the clubhouse.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't. You can't beat that.
- 24:31Speaker 7: And maybe, I mean everything else seems pretty pretty good.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Pretty good.
- 24:41Speaker 7: Yeah, maybe Milwaukee's average for me. But again, like it
- 24:45Speaker 7: depends that the roof's open or not, and very loud
- 24:47Speaker 7: balls off bats.
- 24:48Speaker 3: I'm very everything's kind of.
- 24:50Speaker 7: Colored by battle bit if I have a bunch of
- 24:52Speaker 7: owners there don't like it.
- 24:54Speaker 3: It's pretty pretty straightforward.
- 24:58Speaker 1: You guys have pointed out many things that that I
- 25:00Speaker 1: agree with. Kansas City below average, not average, so hot,
- 25:07Speaker 1: so hot, that's the problem.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Okay, I've never been.
- 25:11Speaker 6: Now that the Chiefs are leaving, so it makes it,
- 25:13Speaker 6: it gets it that much more down.
- 25:15Speaker 1: So, I mean, hey, they're going to have their own
- 25:19Speaker 1: thing going downtown in Kansas City at some point soon.
- 25:22Speaker 5: It's going to be fantastic. That cool.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Yeah, that'll be real cool.
- 25:27Speaker 1: A couple of comments from people watching live right now.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Chris said Target Field looks really nice.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Anyone been there? Brandon said, White Sox Stadium isn't that bad?
- 25:36Speaker 7: Mm hmmm mm hmmm mm hmm trying to trying to
- 25:41Speaker 7: get down for a nap. Sure, it's kind of a
- 25:47Speaker 7: creative stadium of the template and then will be the show.
- 25:50Speaker 7: It's kind of it's you know, this is how it feels, babe.
- 25:55Speaker 1: The The only thing I will say is one of
- 25:57Speaker 1: my favorite playoff experiences was whatever year for the White
- 26:02Speaker 1: Sox the last time they were good?
- 26:03Speaker 2: Was it twenty two?
- 26:06Speaker 1: It was they did the blackout like it was cool. Yes,
- 26:10Speaker 1: there's a lot of character to it. Yeah, yeah, what
- 26:14Speaker 1: was the year? It was twenty two?
- 26:15Speaker 3: Right, that's I think that's Joe Kelly Kopek here.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Yes, yes, But otherwise, I mean looking at the top
- 26:23Speaker 1: of the bottom, the bottom's easy, guys, because you've got
- 26:27Speaker 1: a minor league park, and then the trup is, yeah,
- 26:32Speaker 1: it's a seller abasement, the lighting, the carpet, it's weird.
- 26:36Speaker 3: To say it is, you know, everyone knows it.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:40Speaker 7: It's then the GM say, yeah, we're back, We're back
- 26:44Speaker 7: to our own place, and yeah, I've stayed at nice hotels,
- 26:47Speaker 7: but it's always nice to be home. I'm like, you're
- 26:49Speaker 7: talking about the spring training stadium, not even the big
- 26:53Speaker 7: league stadium, the spring training facility, and you're saying how
- 26:56Speaker 7: much better it is than your own park, Like everyone
- 26:59Speaker 7: knows it's you kind of gotta just like say we
- 27:02Speaker 7: love it. You just have to, or it's that or
- 27:04Speaker 7: be miserable, so pick one. But yeah, I hate it
- 27:07Speaker 7: at My back hurt every time I lost that place.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Anything we'll finish with this that we should know about
- 27:14Speaker 1: from a player perspective that you guys really liked or disliked.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I know it's a different type of list. We're trying
- 27:21Speaker 1: to look at this for the fan ballpark experience, but
- 27:24Speaker 1: anything else, Trevor that catches your eye where it's like, hey,
- 27:27Speaker 1: don't sleep on the fact that players will probably like
- 27:30Speaker 1: this ballpark more because of this, or not like this
- 27:33Speaker 1: ballpark more because of that.
- 27:35Speaker 7: I mean, most of the time, it comes down to
- 27:38Speaker 7: food and correct me if I'm wrong. God, Like, if
- 27:41Speaker 7: you got if you do something like unique with food
- 27:44Speaker 7: and people look forward to going there, you would be
- 27:47Speaker 7: blown away? How often that is like all everything for people,
- 27:50Speaker 7: Like like I like truest in Atlanta. It's really hot there,
- 27:55Speaker 7: but they had an indoor bullpen, which is really important,
- 27:58Speaker 7: so you're not hot until you're at least in the
- 28:00Speaker 7: game or getting ready to get the game. And then
- 28:02Speaker 7: they have they had good, good chefs and they made
- 28:04Speaker 7: you whatever, Like it's just you. You have options, and
- 28:07Speaker 7: sometimes guys are picky, and I was a pretty fairly
- 28:09Speaker 7: picky guy. So being able to like find some food
- 28:13Speaker 7: that I always really liked or they that they made
- 28:15Speaker 7: there and it's a nice and it's newer, so it's
- 28:17Speaker 7: it's nice in there too. All the facilities are nice,
- 28:19Speaker 7: there's enough space for everybody.
- 28:22Speaker 5: I was.
- 28:22Speaker 7: I was like, that's one of the big draws of
- 28:23Speaker 7: the Yankee Stadium. Their food, their their food room is
- 28:26Speaker 7: just ridiculous.
- 28:28Speaker 3: It is. It is awesome. I kind of want to
- 28:30Speaker 3: go there right now.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Actually, yeah, they've got stars.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Five course would not be better.
- 28:38Speaker 5: Well, every single time you're there.
- 28:41Speaker 1: To real real quick before you answer. Just while we're
- 28:43Speaker 1: on this. With the Yanks, they like to do things
- 28:47Speaker 1: first class, no doubt. Do you feel like opposing players
- 28:50Speaker 1: sometimes get there and be like, damn, be cool to
- 28:52Speaker 1: join the Yankee someday.
- 28:54Speaker 2: They know how to take care of you, even on
- 28:56Speaker 2: the road.
- 28:56Speaker 7: But what the home side look like, if this is
- 28:59Speaker 7: the wayside.
- 29:00Speaker 6: Yeah, that's that's probably part of the the aura. That's
- 29:06Speaker 6: part of Hey, listen, you know, we're trying to get
- 29:08Speaker 6: the best of the best of the Juan Soto's, you
- 29:11Speaker 6: know what I mean, Like the guys that have played
- 29:13Speaker 6: there that have been really good.
- 29:16Speaker 5: I don't know why I'm saying.
- 29:18Speaker 6: Miami because of the Cuban coffee that they give out
- 29:21Speaker 6: is oh god almighty, it gives h Trevor.
- 29:25Speaker 5: I don't know if you. I'm sure you've had one.
- 29:27Speaker 5: The club's there are great.
- 29:28Speaker 6: They're like, hey, you need to kick the expresso that
- 29:31Speaker 6: they give Oh my god, it's to die for.
- 29:35Speaker 5: I like Philly visiting size.
- 29:37Speaker 6: It's it's a it's a bigger I like a little
- 29:40Speaker 6: more room in a locker room. I like their visiting
- 29:43Speaker 6: side just because of that. Everything's pretty close I like
- 29:46Speaker 6: San Diegos, even though I don't.
- 29:48Speaker 5: Like being there.
- 29:49Speaker 6: The hotel where you stay at is connected to the stadium. Yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 6: I mean, Dodgers was great back in the day when
- 29:59Speaker 6: they had the shower. Is that when they you turn
- 30:01Speaker 6: the shower on, Trevor, I know you remember this, it
- 30:03Speaker 6: would hurt you. That's how much pressure would come out.
- 30:06Speaker 6: I love a good pressure.
- 30:07Speaker 5: Shit.
- 30:07Speaker 6: But here's the bad part about it. It was like
- 30:12Speaker 6: forty feet long, but it was like six feet wide,
- 30:15Speaker 6: so you have stuff like all the people in the
- 30:19Speaker 6: puddles would get so high in there. You're basically in
- 30:23Speaker 6: slutch of people's sweaty you know, you know what. Yeah,
- 30:30Speaker 6: I mean there's good in bed to all of them.
- 30:32Speaker 6: But you know, it depends on what kind of clubbies
- 30:35Speaker 6: you have. If they're gonna go above and beyond, it
- 30:38Speaker 6: makes it for a good clubhouse.
- 30:41Speaker 7: Last thing before we get out here, I got to
- 30:43Speaker 7: shout out you mentioned showers, and this is funny.
- 30:46Speaker 3: That's part of it too.
- 30:48Speaker 7: The towels in Cleveland are incredible to the beach size,
- 30:53Speaker 7: and they have a towel warmer, so you open up
- 30:55Speaker 7: the thing, you pull it.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Out there all warm and like.
- 30:58Speaker 7: Even though it's like and it's always caught there, so
- 31:00Speaker 7: I always yeah, it's always so it's so good. It's like, yeah,
- 31:06Speaker 7: you feel like you're like a little kid again after
- 31:08Speaker 7: a cold day, snow or whatever you would think.
- 31:11Speaker 1: I mean the small stuff sometimes that gets brought up
- 31:15Speaker 1: surprises me that it's not more universal across the sport.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I know that.
- 31:18Speaker 1: At one point, right, we go a couple labor agreements
- 31:21Speaker 1: back and that was the main fight for some of
- 31:23Speaker 1: the players, and the owners were loving it because they're like, oh,
- 31:25Speaker 1: they're fighting over stuff that costs us pennies compared to
- 31:28Speaker 1: what we spend on the team. Right, They're like, we
- 31:29Speaker 1: want chefs and we want regulations on food and all
- 31:32Speaker 1: of this stuff so we get treated better and more
- 31:34Speaker 1: of a country club environment, and we're spending you know,
- 31:36Speaker 1: half our lives inside these places.
- 31:38Speaker 2: So the example you just.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Brought up, Trevor is perfect. Like the big towels with
- 31:43Speaker 1: a heater on it. I mean, look at that line
- 31:45Speaker 1: item for any team.
- 31:47Speaker 2: It's a joke.
- 31:48Speaker 1: It's a sneeze, and one team knows how to do
- 31:52Speaker 1: it and most of them aren't doing it.
- 31:53Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 31:54Speaker 5: And last thing for me, you got a good barber.
- 31:56Speaker 6: You got a little barbershop in the clubhouse that that
- 31:59Speaker 6: gets some points.
- 31:59Speaker 5: To as well.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Quick shake and City has a good job of that.
- 32:05Speaker 6: Texas at home has their own little barber shop and
- 32:07Speaker 6: it's pretty good.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Well, when you knew and you got space, you can
- 32:12Speaker 1: put that together like your Texas And for Kansas City,
- 32:14Speaker 1: you can actually wash your hair in the fountain before
- 32:17Speaker 1: you get the cut. So that's good if you want
- 32:20Speaker 1: to venture out there with her water. Yeah, exactly,
