- 0:45love talking to you. So always reach out.
- 0:46Nothing's ever a problem, guys. What's going on?
- 0:49On, I wanted to do this video because a lot of the time people
- 0:53are always think that women can't be on the autism spectrum.
- 0:56We know, women and girls are not in the autism spectrum.
- 0:57The can't be autistic, blah, blah, blah.
- 0:59That's an old kind of hat, old news, forget about that, then he
- 1:02the way it is is that yeah, there's actually probably a lot
- 1:05more autistic females than males in the world.
- 1:07It's just a, the, the diagnostic criteria and the capacity to do.
- 1:10It hasn't updated yet, but we're getting there.
- 1:12Anyway, regardless of all of that nonsense, I wanted to do
- 1:15this video because I want to be able to help you guys and that's
- 1:17why autism in girls. Females that you are, suspecting
- 1:21could be autistic. So here, the most obvious signs
- 1:23I wanted to do so it's really relatively easy for you to go.
- 1:25Okay. Well, maybe I should put them in
- 1:27for an assessment. See if those, you know, we can
- 1:29get a diagnosis to then get support.
- 1:31Anyway, let's jump into right now, start with number one.
- 1:33So, number one is lack of eye, contact autistic, people might
- 1:36have the male or female will have issues with creating eye
- 1:40contact in a social convention. This could be talking to
- 1:42somebody. It could be trying to look at a
- 1:45speaker in and I'll actually theater in the eyes.
- 1:47Any type of eye contact is going to be uncomfortable.
- 1:49Edible and avoided, by all costs, by an autistic individual
- 1:52because of the uncomfortable feeling that comes from looking
- 1:55in somebody's eyes. So if you know, avoiding eye
- 1:57contact, then it's a typical autistic trait.
- 2:00Very, very interesting. Okay.
- 2:02So number two is issues, keeping front.
- 2:05Now, autistic females will want to make lots and lots of
- 2:08friends, but they will kind of feel a bit out of the loop.
- 2:11A lot of the time with the types of issues that keep them up with
- 2:14the friends. Like, it could be a lack of
- 2:15emotional understanding because it's a sick, individual slack,
- 2:18emotional kind of Development, A lot of the time how they promote
- 2:22themselves emotionally or how they understand their own
- 2:24emotions. You know, emotional regulation
- 2:26is something quite difficult for autistic individuals especially
- 2:29females. So they may want to make other
- 2:31friends because girls want to be quite social and hang out with
- 2:33other girls. Those girls will have problems
- 2:35and conversations. That you may not understand an
- 2:38autistic female, and then it could cause friction.
- 2:40And then you could just ignore those friends or off move on, or
- 2:43they may do the same thing. This is quite common and you'll
- 2:45see autistic individuals who are female wanting to kind of recap
- 2:49me Friends. But then also probably only have
- 2:51one friend that it will last in their entire life.
- 2:53The rest on can't just fizzle out very, very common to see
- 2:57this obvious sign to see this issue, a struggle with making
- 3:00and retaining friends in autism and females.
- 3:03Okay. So number three is collecting.
- 3:04Now, autistic females will collect everything that they
- 3:08enjoy. So the might collect all the
- 3:10books of Twilight, they may collect every DVD of the Batman
- 3:12series. They may collect every single
- 3:14hairpin that they've ever had an entire life.
- 3:16It could be, you know, a collection of scrunchies or Is
- 3:19it no matter what it is, it will be a collection that we have
- 3:21that you can never ever part with.
- 3:23It could be collection of troll dolls from the 90s, it could be
- 3:25anything and this is very, very common with autism and females,
- 3:29it could be like that stack of teddy bears that will never ever
- 3:31be played with what it's on your, you know, in the wardrobe
- 3:34and a spare room collecting dust that your child will never ever
- 3:37separate with, because she is on the autism spectrum and now he's
- 3:39part of her collection, very interesting.
- 3:42And this one always gets yet I can see if this resonates with
- 3:44you give this video a thumbs up right now or even comment saying
- 3:46Dan, you hit the nail on the head.
- 3:48I totally get what you're saying this.
- 3:49Is my kid or this is me, right? I want to know.
- 3:52Okay, so number four is obsessive interest and obsessive
- 3:54interest is, where an autistic person will have an obsessive
- 3:58interest in a topic or genres. So they could be really, really
- 4:01interested in filmmaking or photography or movies in
- 4:05general. I could be a movie critic, or
- 4:07whatever. They could be obsessed with a
- 4:09certain kind of Pop Style or movie star and they'll know
- 4:11everything about their life or, you know, even down to the stuff
- 4:14like, you know, where they have their first sandwich and stuff
- 4:16like that. And in the high school, they
- 4:17attended all those fine. Details are very Much something
- 4:19that will be honed in on someone who has an obsessive interest.
- 4:22But also see people, especially girls inspection, will have an
- 4:26obsessive interest that they would just want to research all
- 4:28time. Talk about all the time and we
- 4:30were really just absorb anything they can from that topic of
- 4:33Interest. Very interesting.
- 4:35Okay, so a number five is masking to overload.
- 4:38Oh my goodness, this is probably the number one.
- 4:41The number one, Telltale sign that and I'll do a female is on
- 4:44the autism spectrum, right? It's because masking is more
- 4:47prevalent in females and what masking is Is the ability to
- 4:50kind of pretend and act that you're happy and safe and going
- 4:53along with something. When inside you pretty much
- 4:55dying and riddled anxiety. What's happens.
- 4:58Is, you know, an example would be say ago, goes to school and
- 5:02she's on the autism spectrum undiagnosed and she'll hang up
- 5:04the old friends and do all the things there which is masking,
- 5:07you know, you hire jokes and trying to get all these things
- 5:10and do all these social kind of conventions of how your friends
- 5:13and talk about boys and whatever.
- 5:15And then you come home and crash, you just like hit the
- 5:18deck. And you can't cope anymore, your
- 5:21burst out crying. You're in a mood, you'd only
- 5:24doing your homework, you have no motivation that just ditch right
- 5:27down that is an overload caused by masking all day, masking can
- 5:31be used in some good situations, where it's a firefly or survival
- 5:34technique, but masking all day. Every single day is no good.
- 5:38And this is a Telltale sign. If your kid is completely
- 5:40exhausted to the point where they're just completely broken
- 5:43down, when it come in from school or anywhere that they've
- 5:46been socializing, this is a Telltale sign that they could be
- 5:48on the autism spectrum. Jim guys, if you are interested,
