- 0:00Speaker 1: Filling in for Mark. Here's Ken Rosatto and Happy Thursday
- 0:04Speaker 1: to you. It's good to be with you. Mark is
- 0:05Speaker 1: off former New York City TV news anchor Ken Rosatta
- 0:09Speaker 1: reporting for Duty today. You probably best remembered me from
- 0:13Speaker 1: the twenty years I spent doing the morning show over
- 0:16Speaker 1: Channel seven, and I worked even a Channel five some people,
- 0:19Speaker 1: some people still stop me on the street and say,
- 0:20Speaker 1: weren't you on Good Day? Yeah, about one hundred years ago.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I was before they had TV. It was like two
- 0:25Speaker 1: tin cans in a string. That's what I was on
- 0:28Speaker 1: Good Day, but it was I did do that for
- 0:30Speaker 1: about a year, and these days I have the privilege
- 0:32Speaker 1: of hosting a daily show on a New Jersey based
- 0:35Speaker 1: news channel. It's called on New Jersey. They were the
- 0:38Speaker 1: ones that brought you the first New Jersey governor debate
- 0:41Speaker 1: of the season, and we do a lot of news
- 0:44Speaker 1: breaking there. It's a New Jersey wide channel, I think,
- 0:47Speaker 1: so you only TV channel. It's on the entire state.
- 0:50Speaker 1: You can also stream it live from anywhere in the
- 0:53Speaker 1: country and rerun it. Also the morning show that I
- 0:56Speaker 1: do at o NNJ dot com. Do so after you've
- 0:59Speaker 1: listened to everything here at wor so it's O n
- 1:03Speaker 1: NJ dot com. I also run a food website for
- 1:06Speaker 1: all you foodies. It's called the food Dude. It has
- 1:09Speaker 1: links to thousands of recipes from all over the world.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It's free and you could find it at Thefooddude dot us.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Make sure the word is there, Thefooddude dot us. It's
- 1:19Speaker 1: so good to be here. There is a lot to
- 1:21Speaker 1: talk about today. Phone lines are open. Give us a call,
- 1:24Speaker 1: take part in the conversation. One eight hundred three two
- 1:27Speaker 1: one zero seven ten. Today we're going to hit the
- 1:30Speaker 1: mayoral debate. Of course for those of you who are
- 1:33Speaker 1: political junkies like myself that you couldn't wait for this day,
- 1:36Speaker 1: this is a big one. So the mayoral debate, Mam
- 1:39Speaker 1: Donnie versus Cuomo versus Curtis. We'll see what happens tonight.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It's from seven to nine on Channel four.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:45Speaker 1: The Trump Gateway Tunnel project looks like Trump is playing hardball.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Chuck Schilma. Chuck thought he had the last laugh shutting
- 1:52Speaker 1: down the government. But only like two percent of the
- 1:55Speaker 1: government is shutdown. Nobody even notices it's shut down. The
- 1:58Speaker 1: military is getting paid by alter and it means which
- 2:00Speaker 1: is pissing off the Democrats in a big way. They
- 2:02Speaker 1: want they want the military not to get paid so
- 2:05Speaker 1: that people will get upset. But Trump always has a
- 2:09Speaker 1: Plan B. I think the Democrats won't figure this out
- 2:12Speaker 1: for one hundred and fifty years. Trump has a Plan B,
- 2:14Speaker 1: a Plan C, a Plan F, a Plan L. So
- 2:17Speaker 1: you come at him with something, he will come back
- 2:19Speaker 1: at you with ten times that Democrat. So just learn,
- 2:23Speaker 1: get over it, spend the next three and a half
- 2:25Speaker 1: years with a bottle of tums, and accept it. All right.
- 2:28Speaker 1: It is the reality. So Trump's response to Chuck Schuma
- 2:33Speaker 1: and his insistence on keeping the government shut down by
- 2:36Speaker 1: telling his fellow Democrat senators not to vote for the
- 2:40Speaker 1: Continuing Resolution in the Senate is to cancel the Gateway
- 2:44Speaker 1: Tunnel project, which is Chucky's twenty year He worked on
- 2:49Speaker 1: his plan for twenty years to have something that he
- 2:52Speaker 1: could hang his hat on. Now that's not to say
- 2:55Speaker 1: we don't need it. We do need the Gateway Tunnel project,
- 2:58Speaker 1: and I'm sure Trump will get that money to us.
- 3:00Speaker 1: But right now we're saying, hey, Chucky boy, if you
- 3:03Speaker 1: want this Gateway tunnel project, you better play some ball.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Otherwise I'm canceling the money. Here's why Trump can do it.
- 3:11Speaker 1: The money that was allocated for the Gateway Tunnel project
- 3:14Speaker 1: is not allocated by Congress. It was a grant that
- 3:19Speaker 1: was signed off on by President Biden. Well, because the
- 3:23Speaker 1: government is shut down and all the outgoing money is
- 3:26Speaker 1: in essence effectively locked, President Trump could say, nope, we're
- 3:31Speaker 1: not going to continue that grant, stop it no more.
- 3:33Speaker 1: We don't have a government functioning. And as the chief
- 3:36Speaker 1: of the Executive Branch, he has that authority. So Chucky boy, checkmate,
- 3:40Speaker 1: see what you're gonna do next. The New Jersey governor's
- 3:42Speaker 1: race is big. We're going to be talking about that.
- 3:44Speaker 1: In fact, we are going to have a person I
- 3:47Speaker 1: believe is the dean of New Jersey politics, Micah Rasmussen,
- 3:52Speaker 1: who heads the Rebevich Institute at Writer University for politics.
- 3:56Speaker 1: He knows more about New Jersey politics than anybody. He
- 3:59Speaker 1: used to be Jim mcgree communications guy, and so he's
- 4:02Speaker 1: going to be on talking about the race. Big, big
- 4:05Speaker 1: stuff happening over there between Chitarelly and Mikey Cheryl. We
- 4:10Speaker 1: had Chitarelli on my show the other day in New Jersey,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and in fact, he broke the news on my show
- 4:15Speaker 1: that that was when he was going to officially launch
- 4:17Speaker 1: the complaint, the lawsuit against Mikey Cheryl. So that happened
- 4:22Speaker 1: on my show on Tuesday, and so I know you
- 4:26Speaker 1: probably heard him on Larry Menty about an hour ago
- 4:28Speaker 1: talking about it. So we're going to talk with Mike
- 4:30Speaker 1: O Rasmussen about that. Did you know that AI knows
- 4:35Speaker 1: and by AI meet artificial intelligence, not some guy named
- 4:38Speaker 1: al Influenza. AI knows if your phone battery is low,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and it can impact how much you pay for stuff
- 4:48Speaker 1: based on that. What are you talking about, ken, Okay,
- 4:51Speaker 1: let's just say it's two o'clock in the morning, you
- 4:54Speaker 1: need a ride share to get home, your phone has
- 4:56Speaker 1: three percent battery power left. Artificial intelligence can forward that
- 5:01Speaker 1: information to the app for your ride share and say, hey,
- 5:04Speaker 1: this dude is desperate. You get it. So now you'll
- 5:08Speaker 1: be quoted the highest price instead of a competitive price.
- 5:12Speaker 1: So that's the way it works. So we're going to
- 5:14Speaker 1: talk about that. It's really deceptive. I think it's unfair.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Of course, who doesn't think it's unfair, But that's business.
- 5:20Speaker 1: We're going to talk about it. Tish James and her
- 5:22Speaker 1: big grand niece, Big Tish and her big grand niece
- 5:26Speaker 1: Big Trouble. Potentially, we'll talk about that, the grand new
- 5:29Speaker 1: niece finally responding to all the allegations about her being
- 5:32Speaker 1: a fugitive from North Carolina and living in Anti Tish's home,
- 5:37Speaker 1: that Anti Tish says it's her primary residence in Virginia,
- 5:40Speaker 1: and we know it's not, because you can't be the
- 5:42Speaker 1: Attorney General of New York if you're a primary residence
- 5:45Speaker 1: is in Virginia. And then we're going to talk about, Oh,
- 5:48Speaker 1: there's a few actually a few other surprises. I'm not
- 5:50Speaker 1: even gonna mention yet. So let's get to the big stuff.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Tonight is the night it is the big debate for
- 5:55Speaker 1: Mayor of New York City. Curtis Sliwa, Andrew Cuomo and
- 5:58Speaker 1: Zoron Mamdani will take the debate stage. It's seven to
- 6:02Speaker 1: nine pm on Channel four. And what are they going
- 6:05Speaker 1: to be talking about. Well, you know, mom, Donnie is
- 6:07Speaker 1: going to be going after Cuomo Andrew.
- 6:09Speaker 3: You had your chance to lead this state. You took
- 6:11Speaker 3: that time to sell out working class New Yorkers to
- 6:14Speaker 3: your billionaire donors and instead of actually meeting the needs
- 6:18Speaker 3: of people, who couldn't afford to live in the city.
- 6:20Speaker 3: You gave nine hundred and fifty nine million dollars in
- 6:22Speaker 3: tax breaks to Elon Musk and now you want us
- 6:24Speaker 3: to believe that we can't spend less money than that
- 6:26Speaker 3: to make every bus fast and free in the same city.
- 6:28Speaker 1: And what does Cuomo have to say?
- 6:31Speaker 4: Mister Mandai's plan for Rikers Island is either incoherent and
- 6:40Speaker 4: incompetent or diabolically manipulated.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Now, now the question is, and of course we have Curtis.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I don't have a piece of sound for Curtis right now,
- 6:50Speaker 1: but we love Curtis and we keep our fingers crossed
- 6:52Speaker 1: for him. The question is, looking at the polls, if
- 6:55Speaker 1: you add up the support for Curtis and the support
- 6:58Speaker 1: for Andrew Cuomo, the two could If you take the
- 7:01Speaker 1: two and combine them, they could potentially beat Mamdani. Right,
- 7:04Speaker 1: So what's in your mind? Well, Curtis should bow ow.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Curtis should bow ow because Andrew Cuomo has higher numbers.
- 7:09Speaker 1: But honestly, the person who has more legitimacy up there
- 7:13Speaker 1: is Curtis. Because Curtis is endorsed by one of the
- 7:16Speaker 1: major parties in New York the Republican Party. He won
- 7:19Speaker 1: that primary fair and square, and he has a right
- 7:23Speaker 1: to run. So every time you're ready to condemn him
- 7:25Speaker 1: and say and say drop out Curtis, come on, is
- 7:28Speaker 1: that really fair to him? But you could look at
- 7:30Speaker 1: it as if Curtis stays in and Mamdanni wins. I
- 7:34Speaker 1: think a lot of people may look back and say,
- 7:36Speaker 1: it's your fault, Curtis, that we got Mamdani. Well, no,
- 7:39Speaker 1: it's not his fault. The fault is the education system
- 7:45Speaker 1: in New York City that has brainwashed young people for
- 7:47Speaker 1: generations now to believe in the system of victim and victimizer.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And then you have a socialist like this, a democrat socialist.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Let's just face it, he's a communist. He keeps insisting
- 7:59Speaker 1: he is a democrat. So but you know, if it
- 8:00Speaker 1: walks like a duck and talks like a duck, chances
- 8:03Speaker 1: are quack quack, it's a duck. You can call yourself
- 8:05Speaker 1: a ham sandwich zoron all that you'd like, but you
- 8:09Speaker 1: espouse all the beliefs of communism. So call yourself a
- 8:12Speaker 1: democratic socialist. Okay, if that's what we're calling communism today,
- 8:15Speaker 1: you're still a communist. Just branded as a democratic socialist.
- 8:19Speaker 1: The reality is you are what you are and it
- 8:22Speaker 1: is still going to destroy our economy. Out If you
- 8:25Speaker 1: saw Mom Donnie yesterday, he was on Fox News Channel
- 8:27Speaker 1: with Martha McCallum. Martha did an enormous job. She's a
- 8:31Speaker 1: phenomenal journalist and Zoron I give him credit for going
- 8:37Speaker 1: to the belly of the beast right Fox News Channel.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Most Democrats won't set foot in there. And of course
- 8:42Speaker 1: he went in with his big fake smile, his coach
- 8:44Speaker 1: smile and his coached answers, and Martha pushed him and
- 8:49Speaker 1: asked over and over again. She asked him, number one,
- 8:52Speaker 1: do you congratulate President Trump on his successes in the
- 8:57Speaker 1: Middle East? And of course he wouldn't give a direct
- 8:59Speaker 1: nam answer, and ultimately he did say that he said,
- 9:04Speaker 1: it's too early to give him any kind of congratulations. Well,
- 9:08Speaker 1: let's listen to what Mum Donnie said.
- 9:09Speaker 3: And when it comes to the ceasefire, I am thankful
- 9:13Speaker 3: and I have hope that it will actually endure and
- 9:17Speaker 3: that it will be lasting. And I continue to have
- 9:19Speaker 3: concerns because I've seen reports still just this in the
- 9:21Speaker 3: last few days that five Palestinians were killed by Israeli military.
- 9:25Speaker 3: And that's what gives me pause about issuing any kind
- 9:27Speaker 3: of praise or celebration at a moment when it is
- 9:30Speaker 3: still so in its infancy.
- 9:32Speaker 1: And here's where he is a communist and deceptive, and
- 9:35Speaker 1: here's where he's very careful to parse his words. Mister
- 9:39Speaker 1: mum Donnie talks about the five Palestinians who died, he
- 9:42Speaker 1: doesn't tell you how they were killed. The five Palestinians
- 9:45Speaker 1: were part of a mob that ran up on Israeli
- 9:47Speaker 1: soldiers at a time when according to the peace plan
- 9:50Speaker 1: that Hamas signed that the Hamas folks are supposed to
- 9:55Speaker 1: be disarmed as of Monday. It was supposed to disarm,
- 9:58Speaker 1: but no, they still have weapons. And the Israeli soldiers
- 10:01Speaker 1: are now going in to move forward with the next phase.
- 10:04Speaker 1: But how do you move forward with the next phase
- 10:05Speaker 1: when a bunch of people with weapons come running up
- 10:08Speaker 1: on you. So, if you're an Israeli soldier and you
- 10:11Speaker 1: know that thousands of your countrymen have just gotten murdered
- 10:14Speaker 1: in the last two years, and you see a bunch
- 10:16Speaker 1: of people who were supposed to disarm, who have not
- 10:18Speaker 1: yet disarmed, running up on you, what are you supposed
- 10:20Speaker 1: to do. The Israeli soldiers told those Palestinians stop, they
- 10:24Speaker 1: did not stop. They continued running, so they got shot. Now,
- 10:27Speaker 1: I don't want anyone to die. I don't want anyone
- 10:29Speaker 1: to get shot. But this is the reality. You know,
- 10:32Speaker 1: Hamas it was not choked to sign this. They signed
- 10:36Speaker 1: a piece plan. They agreed to disarm. They did not.
- 10:40Speaker 1: So what are Israeli soldiers supposed to do? All right?
- 10:44Speaker 1: So now Mamdani carefully mentions the shooting of those Palestinian
- 10:50Speaker 1: folks and they were apparently Hamas members who ran up
- 10:53Speaker 1: on the Israeli soldiers, or how do you know what
- 10:56Speaker 1: they are honestly, But he fails to mention that Hamas
- 11:01Speaker 1: lined up up to thirty five fellow Palestinians and got
- 11:07Speaker 1: them blindfolded and on their knees and summarily executed each
- 11:11Speaker 1: one with bullets to the back of the head. Why
- 11:14Speaker 1: because somebody in Hamas thought they might have leaked to
- 11:18Speaker 1: Israel or sided with Israel. In other words, they weren't
- 11:21Speaker 1: vociferously enough in support of Hamas' beliefs. So Hamas lined
- 11:27Speaker 1: up thirty five Palestinians and shot them at the back
- 11:30Speaker 1: of the head. Hey, mister Mamdani, where was your criticism? There?
- 11:34Speaker 1: No criticism, total silence. So when Israelis defend themselves, Mamdani
- 11:40Speaker 1: is quick to criticize. When Palestinians murder Palestinians and they
- 11:44Speaker 1: stream it live, these people's heads getting blown off, streamed
- 11:48Speaker 1: live on the internet, there is radio silence from Mamdani.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Think about that when you go into a polling place
- 11:57Speaker 1: and you go to make your vote, it's awful. Going
- 12:01Speaker 1: back for a moment to the Gateway Tunnel project, President
- 12:05Speaker 1: Trump made this comment when he discussed it yesterday. We're
- 12:09Speaker 1: terminating those programs and they're going to be terminated on
- 12:12Speaker 1: a permanent basis.
- 12:13Speaker 5: And it's thousands of people, and it's you know, billions
- 12:17Speaker 5: of dollars.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Yeah, And by thousands of people, he means thousands of
- 12:20Speaker 1: jobs are going to be impacted that New York and
- 12:22Speaker 1: New Jersey government had hoped for. And Governor Kathy Hochel
- 12:28Speaker 1: miss Hockels ineffect of herself, had this.
- 12:30Speaker 6: To say, this is not sticking it to New York.
- 12:32Speaker 6: This is the Northeastern corridor to make sure that our
- 12:35Speaker 6: tunnels are safe. They're damaged by Superstorm Sandy, they're over
- 12:39Speaker 6: one hundred years old. We need to replace them because
- 12:41Speaker 6: if this system of transportation collapses, the Northeastern economy and
- 12:46Speaker 6: the economy of the country collapsed. So why be so shortsighted?
- 12:50Speaker 1: Kathy Hochel is the definition of why you should spend
- 12:53Speaker 1: more money and not less when you get porcelain veneers.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I'm just saying, that's why she talks like that. I'm
- 12:58Speaker 1: just guessing. I don't know, I know, I mean, Can,
- 13:00Speaker 1: that's mean, don't do that, don't poke fun. My mother
- 13:03Speaker 1: right now is probably listening. She listens to WR like
- 13:06Speaker 1: I do every day. Can that's mean? All right, Governor,
- 13:08Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make fun of your
- 13:10Speaker 1: big porcelain veneers. Ten eighteen right now seven to ten WR.
- 13:14Speaker 1: And over in New Jersey, the polls are definitely tightening
- 13:17Speaker 1: in the race for governor. On Tuesday, as I mentioned,
- 13:20Speaker 1: I had Jack Chittarelli on my show in on New Jersey.
- 13:23Speaker 1: That's the name of the channel that I'm on and
- 13:25Speaker 1: I do the morning show there, and the governor elect.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Oh did I say that? No, No, I'm sorry, I
- 13:31Speaker 1: meant to say. Jack Chittarelli made the announcement that he
- 13:33Speaker 1: was about to launch his lawsuit that day against Mikey
- 13:36Speaker 1: Cheryl because if you watch the debate that was on
- 13:39Speaker 1: Channel seven, Mikey Cheryl turned to Jack Chittarelli calling him
- 13:44Speaker 1: a murderer. Now, for those who aren't following, or they
- 13:47Speaker 1: don't they heard something about you, You don't know why.
- 13:50Speaker 1: This is what this is about. Chittarelly used to own
- 13:55Speaker 1: a company called Galen Publishing. It was a medical publishing company.
- 14:00Speaker 1: The University of Tennessee, their medical school, approached Galen and
- 14:04Speaker 1: wanted to publish a study on opioids. This is years
- 14:08Speaker 1: and years ago Chittarelli's company Galen, and he was the
- 14:13Speaker 1: head of the company. There were probably hundreds of people
- 14:15Speaker 1: under him who did this deal. They published the book.
- 14:18Speaker 1: That's what they do, their book publishers for the medical industry.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And I should say Jack Chitdarelli no longer owns this company,
- 14:23Speaker 1: has nothing to do with it. So they published a
- 14:26Speaker 1: study by the University of Tennessee on opioids, and basically
- 14:32Speaker 1: the study said that if you are not currently addicted
- 14:35Speaker 1: to stuff, that there is a relatively low chance that
- 14:39Speaker 1: you will become addicted to opioids. Well, we've now found
- 14:42Speaker 1: out later that no, opioids are extremely addictive. At the time,
- 14:46Speaker 1: they may or may not have known that. Either way,
- 14:48Speaker 1: Mikey Cheryl is trying to blame him for the deaths
- 14:51Speaker 1: of tens of thousands of New Jersey people who got
- 14:53Speaker 1: addicted to opioids. Well, you know what, the tens of
- 14:56Speaker 1: thousands of New Jersey people who died of opioid overdose
- 14:59Speaker 1: did not. Most of them did not die from prescription opioids.
- 15:03Speaker 1: They died from fentanyl. You moron. Sorry did I say
- 15:06Speaker 1: that doctor? Thankfully that didn't go out on the air.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Let me say that again. They died from fentanyl, ma'am.
- 15:12Speaker 1: They did not die from opioid overdose like from a
- 15:16Speaker 1: prescription from their doc. Now, some do, of course, but
- 15:21Speaker 1: most don't. The vast majority of people die from fentanyl,
- 15:24Speaker 1: which is why Chittarelli turned to Cheryl and said, no,
- 15:29Speaker 1: you were the one and your party allowed people to
- 15:31Speaker 1: come in illegally and bring fentanyl into this country, which
- 15:34Speaker 1: was the appropriate response. Well, Mikey Cheryl is doubling down.
- 15:38Speaker 1: She now apparently is putting together a website calling Jack
- 15:42Speaker 1: Chitdarelli opioid Jack, like he's a drug dealer and he
- 15:45Speaker 1: is appropriately suing her for it, and I hope it
- 15:48Speaker 1: gets the court fast, though I doubt it'll happen before
- 15:50Speaker 1: the election. Either way, she better watch when she calls
- 15:53Speaker 1: somebody a murderer, because even though we have what are
- 15:56Speaker 1: called anti slap laws to protect you from things like that, whatever,
- 16:00Speaker 1: I think, he still has a chance in court, and
- 16:02Speaker 1: so do many people in the legal industry. It is
- 16:05Speaker 1: ten twenty one. You're listening to seven to ten. Woar
- 16:08Speaker 1: the voice of New York Ken Rosatto in for mister
- 16:11Speaker 1: Simone himself on your Thursday. We'll take your calls next
- 16:14Speaker 1: one eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten
- 16:18Speaker 1: beautiful sunny day to day, highs upper fifties to low
- 16:20Speaker 1: sixties seven ten war. It's ten twenty two. We'll be
- 16:24Speaker 1: right back Ken from Mark Today. Here's Ken Rosatto and
- 16:28Speaker 1: good to be with you. It's ten twenty nine on
- 16:30Speaker 1: your Thursday. And by the way, I don't know if
- 16:31Speaker 1: you saw that NBC News announced that they began laying
- 16:35Speaker 1: off about one hundred and fifty people from the news
- 16:37Speaker 1: division as part of the spin off of MSNBC into
- 16:40Speaker 1: ms Now or whatever they're going to be called. But
- 16:42Speaker 1: it always makes me sick, whether they're liberal or not. Look,
- 16:45Speaker 1: I worked in the industry for decades and I just
- 16:47Speaker 1: wish well to my colleagues and just hope they all
- 16:50Speaker 1: land on their feet. But it is time to check
- 16:52Speaker 1: the phones. Right now, it's eight hundred three to two
- 16:54Speaker 1: one zero seven ten wor. We go to Jay in
- 16:57Speaker 1: New Jersey. Jay, good morning to you. Hey Ken hill Ay,
- 17:01Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 17:02Speaker 5: You know, but about the debate tonight, you know, what
- 17:05Speaker 5: has to be made clear is that zoramm Donnie has
- 17:09Speaker 5: openly professed to hate America. And yes, arises why he
- 17:16Speaker 5: wants to run for the you know, to be mayor
- 17:18Speaker 5: of New York City. And the answer is, obviously he
- 17:22Speaker 5: wants to destroy it. And I do not have faith
- 17:25Speaker 5: in Andrew Cuomo to make this, to make this clear
- 17:28Speaker 5: to the people of New York City. And that saddens
- 17:31Speaker 5: me because if zoram Ram Donnie gets elected, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 5: he's not hiding what he's doing. You saw the Fox
- 17:37Speaker 5: News interview and that's just a preview to what you're
- 17:39Speaker 5: going to see tonight.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Look, there are people on the internet, Jay, and only
- 17:42Speaker 1: because we're short of time and I mean to step
- 17:44Speaker 1: on you, but there are people on the internet. On
- 17:46Speaker 1: the Internet, anyone could say anything, but who have said,
- 17:48Speaker 1: you know, and this is it's it sounds very anti Islam.
- 17:51Speaker 1: And I am not anti Islam here because I have
- 17:54Speaker 1: many friends who are very faithful Muslims. But there are
- 17:57Speaker 1: many who say, if you look at what happened in
- 17:59Speaker 1: all the European capitals where you had people who were
- 18:03Speaker 1: of the faith who came in and then they imposed
- 18:05Speaker 1: the faith on many of the capitals, and they're suggesting
- 18:08Speaker 1: that that's what he is. I don't believe that, but
- 18:11Speaker 1: I do believe that he comes up from a different mindset,
- 18:15Speaker 1: that he comes up with a very socialist mindset, and unfortunately,
- 18:19Speaker 1: you know, people are falling for it, and that is
- 18:21Speaker 1: not the way this country was founded. Alan Yonker's good
- 18:24Speaker 1: morning to you.
- 18:27Speaker 7: Yeah, hi, Ken, thanks for taking my calling. You know,
- 18:29Speaker 7: I just wanted to say I'm a registered Republican and
- 18:31Speaker 7: I follow what's going on nationally and locally, and I
- 18:35Speaker 7: really think the speaker is the speaker. Johnson is being
- 18:38Speaker 7: irresponsible by not even being in Washington. I mean, that's ridiculous.
- 18:44Speaker 7: He shouldn't be getting paid.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Well, let me ask you this now, al let me
- 18:47Speaker 1: let me ask you this. The House did its job.
- 18:50Speaker 1: They all they needed to do was pass a continuing resolution.
- 18:53Speaker 1: It wasn't this isn't about passing a whole new budget.
- 18:56Speaker 1: They just needed a continuing resolution. The House did that,
- 19:00Speaker 1: so he did his job. And you know, listen, when
- 19:03Speaker 1: the Democrats were in power, they just did what they
- 19:05Speaker 1: wanted to do, and then if the Republicans didn't sign on,
- 19:08Speaker 1: they said screw you and they moved on. But when
- 19:10Speaker 1: the Demo, when the Republicans are in charge, and the
- 19:13Speaker 1: Democrats want to still play by the rules as if
- 19:15Speaker 1: they're in charge, but sorry, it doesn't work that way.
- 19:18Speaker 1: They are not in charge anymore. And the bottom line
- 19:21Speaker 1: is House did its job. The Senate has to do
- 19:23Speaker 1: its job, and five senators of the Democrat persuasion refused
- 19:27Speaker 1: to do that. Vincent, we got about thirty seconds left,
- 19:29Speaker 1: but I got to get you on. Good morning Vincent
- 19:31Speaker 1: in Brooklyn, Good.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Morning Ken, Ken. I think when opioids are used correctly,
- 19:37Speaker 2: they have a place in medicine. I think a lot
- 19:40Speaker 2: of these severe laws that now in New York you
- 19:42Speaker 2: could only get a prescription for opioids for a seven
- 19:46Speaker 2: day prescription. So if you have terminal cancer, like my
- 19:49Speaker 2: uncle did. And you depend on those drugs at edd
- 19:54Speaker 2: state in end stage cancer to relieve your pain, or
- 19:57Speaker 2: do you got to go back to your doctor every
- 19:59Speaker 2: week to get a prescription. You're in rack and ruin
- 20:04Speaker 2: from the pain. And a lot of these people who
- 20:08Speaker 2: had problems with these drugs, they would have problems with
- 20:12Speaker 2: a lot of other drugs. They have addictive personalities, they're junkies.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I had three oral surgeries in the past year, and
- 20:21Speaker 2: if it wasn't for drugs like percocet or oxycondin that
- 20:26Speaker 2: have opioids in them, I would be up to proverbial
- 20:29Speaker 2: Creek because I was in extreme pain. And once the
- 20:34Speaker 2: prescription was finished, and once the pain was gone, I
- 20:38Speaker 2: stopped using it. Stop. People have to realize it's written
- 20:43Speaker 2: right on the bottle that you're not supposed to take
- 20:45Speaker 2: these drugs after a certain period of time. You're not
- 20:49Speaker 2: supposed to take them with alcohol, and it's said they're
- 20:51Speaker 2: highly addictive.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, you know the one. By the way,
- 20:55Speaker 1: I should even mention there is a new drug out
- 20:57Speaker 1: that is non opioid that some doctors are getting and
- 20:59Speaker 1: I'm not just talk to your doctor about. It's called
- 21:01Speaker 1: Jernoviks and it is not opioid. It doesn't make you groggy,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and it's pretty good. But it doesn't work on spinal pain,
- 21:08Speaker 1: but it does work on non spinal pain photoghy. My
- 21:13Speaker 1: insurance covered it because when I had I had hernia
- 21:15Speaker 1: surgery recently and it worked. But that's a good option,
- 21:19Speaker 1: but only because I got to go to news here,
- 21:20Speaker 1: we got to jump. I love you, you know when you
- 21:22Speaker 1: call all the time, Vincent, and I appreciate that. But
- 21:24Speaker 1: Vincent's right, if you are non addictive, it's fine to
- 21:28Speaker 1: follow the instructions of the opioids. The problem is, I
- 21:31Speaker 1: get it, some people become addictive, But you don't look
- 21:34Speaker 1: at the person running against you and say you're a
- 21:36Speaker 1: murderer when he just simply published a study from a
- 21:40Speaker 1: university seven ten wr When we come back, more on
- 21:42Speaker 1: the New Jersey governor's race with New Jersey political guru
- 21:45Speaker 1: Micah Rasmussen, whose son was killed by a serial drunk
- 21:49Speaker 1: driver Happy Happy Thursday. He was Press secretary for former
- 21:52Speaker 1: New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevy. In these days. Micah Rasmussen
- 21:56Speaker 1: is the director of the Rebevich Institute for New Jersey
- 21:59Speaker 1: politics Rider University. He's contributed to the public affairs of
- 22:03Speaker 1: the state for more than two decades and has more
- 22:05Speaker 1: than fifteen years experience as an adjunct professor of political science.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Mike Rasmussen, Good morning.
- 22:11Speaker 8: To you, Hey, San, how are you.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I'm great. It feels like I just talked to you
- 22:15Speaker 1: in the last two days, maybe because I did almost
- 22:20Speaker 1: of them, right there, you go. Hey, So we got
- 22:22Speaker 1: to ask you. Actually I was going to talk to
- 22:24Speaker 1: about the New Jersey governor's race, but we've had some
- 22:25Speaker 1: breaking news since then about the Gateway Tunnel project and
- 22:30Speaker 1: President Trump basically telling hey, Chuckie Schielma, screw you, pal.
- 22:35Speaker 1: What do you think you think? This is just politics?
- 22:36Speaker 1: He's just playing games right now.
- 22:40Speaker 8: Yeah, I hope so, I hope so for the sake
- 22:42Speaker 8: of the region, for the sake of New Jersey, we're
- 22:45Speaker 8: sort of swept up in this. And it's as you know,
- 22:49Speaker 8: this project is that a long time coming. That rail
- 22:53Speaker 8: infrastructure is over one hundred years old. Sometimes it's got
- 22:56Speaker 8: to be knocked into placements with a sledgehammer. And I'm
- 22:58Speaker 8: not even kidding. And we can't afford for this thing
- 23:04Speaker 8: to be caught up. So I hope that resolution is
- 23:08Speaker 8: on the way. And you know, this is pretty strong language.
- 23:12Speaker 8: It's different than what we heard a couple of weeks ago,
- 23:14Speaker 8: which was that it was a pause. Cancelation is a
- 23:18Speaker 8: different deal. That doesn't sound like something to come back from.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he used the word terminated. He used
- 23:23Speaker 1: the word terminated, so that is a serious word. And
- 23:26Speaker 1: he does have the right to do it because this
- 23:28Speaker 1: was a grant that was signed in by Biden. So
- 23:32Speaker 1: because it was a grant, he could freeze grants and
- 23:35Speaker 1: that's for I'm sure this was at a left field
- 23:37Speaker 1: for even those on the left. But nonetheless, we'll see
- 23:40Speaker 1: what happens in the days ahead. Hopefully it brings them
- 23:42Speaker 1: to the negotiating table so we can get this government
- 23:45Speaker 1: open again. Where do you see the New Jersey governor's
- 23:48Speaker 1: race right now, Micah? Do you know we talked about
- 23:50Speaker 1: this on our show the other day in New Jersey,
- 23:52Speaker 1: But now Jack was on Jack Torelli was on Minty
- 23:56Speaker 1: in the morning today here at w o R, and
- 23:59Speaker 1: he talked about that lawsuit. He's moving forward with it.
- 24:03Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, it's interesting because I think by most
- 24:07Speaker 8: of the public polling, he's got a little bit of
- 24:10Speaker 8: round still the makeup in these closing weeks. He's got
- 24:13Speaker 8: an enthusiasm match for sure, but he's still got some
- 24:16Speaker 8: ground to make up. You know, anywhere between three and
- 24:19Speaker 8: five or six points. He's in a good pace to
- 24:24Speaker 8: do that. That this is the kind of distraction that
- 24:27Speaker 8: can derail him from that. The same thing with these
- 24:30Speaker 8: questions that we've talked about about his role in the
- 24:33Speaker 8: opioid crisis is his company's role in the opioid crisis.
- 24:37Speaker 8: This is the kind of thing that knocks you off
- 24:38Speaker 8: your game and prevents you from making the closing arguments
- 24:42Speaker 8: that you want to make in the last couple of
- 24:44Speaker 8: weeks of the race.
- 24:45Speaker 1: So, if you are Jack Chittarelli, what should you be
- 24:48Speaker 1: doing right now? Just talking about nothing else but what
- 24:51Speaker 1: the fact that Mikey Cheryl won't promise that she won't
- 24:53Speaker 1: increase taxes, Talk about the fact that Mikey Cheryl's party
- 24:58Speaker 1: is the party that resulted in the high energy rates?
- 25:01Speaker 1: Is that what all you should be focusing on?
- 25:04Speaker 8: Affordability? Yeah? Absolutely, that's that's what's on voter's minds. Sure,
- 25:08Speaker 8: And you know there's some evidence that talking about the
- 25:12Speaker 8: ethics or the stop trades or you know, Annapolis is
- 25:17Speaker 8: a distraction from what's really on voter's minds, and you've
- 25:21Speaker 8: got to show that you are sensitive to what voters
- 25:24Speaker 8: are are concerned about. And I don't know if he's
- 25:27Speaker 8: doing that right now.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm by the way, I'm literally sitting seventy five
- 25:31Speaker 1: feet from where Charlemagne the God talked to Mikey Cheryl
- 25:34Speaker 1: and had that famous interview. I could walk literally out
- 25:38Speaker 1: this door and down the hall and that's right where
- 25:40Speaker 1: the interview occurred where she didn't know if she had
- 25:42Speaker 1: seven million dollars that she earned in stock Grade. Let
- 25:45Speaker 1: me just remind people that are listening to seven to
- 25:47Speaker 1: ten wo r it is Ken Rozotto in from Mark
- 25:50Speaker 1: Simone on a Thursday, ten forty seven is our time,
- 25:53Speaker 1: and we have Micah Rasmuss and political expert from the
- 25:56Speaker 1: state of New Jersey, my good friend who's on with
- 25:58Speaker 1: us today. So let's let's talk about what the next
- 26:02Speaker 1: step is would be for now Mikey Cheryl, if you're
- 26:04Speaker 1: Mikey Cheryl, what do you have to do to kind
- 26:07Speaker 1: of get back on track in terms of the whole
- 26:10Speaker 1: thing with the military academy?
- 26:13Speaker 8: You know, so same thing for her, she's got to
- 26:16Speaker 8: tap into voter's frustrations over affordability, and this is where
- 26:21Speaker 8: her message on high tax jack, which you know, I mean,
- 26:26Speaker 8: we can talk about whether that's fair or not, but
- 26:28Speaker 8: he definitely has resonated. He's got a bigger problem with
- 26:33Speaker 8: approval at this point than she does. In most polling,
- 26:36Speaker 8: she is still right side up, he's upside down. So
- 26:39Speaker 8: I think those commercials are having an impact on him.
- 26:42Speaker 8: I think she's got to continue to continue to drill
- 26:46Speaker 8: down on that to the extent that she can, and
- 26:48Speaker 8: to the extent that it's fair to do.
- 26:50Speaker 1: So, how hard is it for these candidates in New
- 26:53Speaker 1: Jersey to run for an office that is statewide because
- 26:57Speaker 1: they have to buy ads in the two large or
- 27:00Speaker 1: two of the largest TV markets New York is number one,
- 27:03Speaker 1: Phillies number five, in order to get their message out.
- 27:06Speaker 1: It's got to be super expensive, probably more expensive than anywhere.
- 27:09Speaker 8: Else it is. And as you well know, because of
- 27:13Speaker 8: you know what you do every morning, viewers are not
- 27:17Speaker 8: just getting their TV anymore from cable. They're not just
- 27:21Speaker 8: getting it from broadcasts. They're getting in from digital, from streaming,
- 27:24Speaker 8: and so it is harder than ever because you've got
- 27:28Speaker 8: to be on all the platforms where people are watching.
- 27:31Speaker 8: It is a dispersed media market, and that means it
- 27:35Speaker 8: is more expensive and it's a tough thing to do.
- 27:39Speaker 8: One thing that you know, I have to remind people
- 27:41Speaker 8: all the time is said, we've got a public financing
- 27:43Speaker 8: system for governor. So theoretically, at least on the campaign side,
- 27:48Speaker 8: they're spending their they're cap is the same out about
- 27:52Speaker 8: eighteen million dollars. Jack Ciarelli has spent a lot more
- 27:55Speaker 8: of that down at this point in the race driving
- 27:58Speaker 8: his message. She not more or less than the closing
- 28:01Speaker 8: gaye of the race. That she's spoiled away. That could
- 28:04Speaker 8: make a big difference in this close So.
- 28:07Speaker 1: You think that Jack could climb up in the next guy?
- 28:10Speaker 1: Be mean, we only have two and a half weeks
- 28:11Speaker 1: before this happens. Do you think he has a shot
- 28:13Speaker 1: At this.
- 28:13Speaker 8: Point, she does have a shot. There's no question about that.
- 28:17Speaker 8: This race is impossible to predict. We're probably going to
- 28:20Speaker 8: go through several more lifetime or gateways between now and
- 28:24Speaker 8: the election. There's no question he's in the hunt. But again,
- 28:28Speaker 8: what I am concerned about for him is is he
- 28:32Speaker 8: being driven off of his message. Does he have the
- 28:35Speaker 8: fire power to keep going where she has sort of
- 28:38Speaker 8: spoiled that money away while she's on the offense with
- 28:40Speaker 8: her messaging. I think the positions are better, but I'm
- 28:44Speaker 8: certainly not counting him out at this point.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Well, I'm not going to let you go before I
- 28:47Speaker 1: ask you a thirty second question here. Are you going
- 28:49Speaker 1: to be watching the New York City mayoral debates tonight?
- 28:53Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 28:53Speaker 8: I absolutely am, And I think it's going to be
- 28:55Speaker 8: a big night in that race because people are trying
- 28:58Speaker 8: to sort out the new dynamics with the three candidates
- 29:00Speaker 8: left for the race. And we'll see what happens. I
- 29:04Speaker 8: think Mondani certainly is His messaging is novel. It's different, right,
- 29:10Speaker 8: whether or not it's what voters are interested in. But
- 29:13Speaker 8: you know, are you going to get more of the
- 29:14Speaker 8: same old, same open or are you going to get
- 29:16Speaker 8: something new? And then, of course, does that present an
- 29:19Speaker 8: opportunity between those two juking it out to have to
- 29:22Speaker 8: present an opportunity for Suliva just try to come up
- 29:24Speaker 8: the middle.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Amazing, all right? The director of the Rebevich Institute for
- 29:28Speaker 1: New Jersey Politics at Ryder University, my good friend Micaeh Rasmussen.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I appreciate you all the time, so I could talk
- 29:33Speaker 1: to you for hours. Thanks for coming on.
- 29:34Speaker 8: Today, you too, Ken, Thank you very much.
- 29:37Speaker 1: You bet have a great day. He is just I
- 29:40Speaker 1: mean literally, if there's nothing he doesn't know, and it's
- 29:42Speaker 1: been decades. This guy knows everything, certainly about New Jersey politics,
- 29:46Speaker 1: but he knows about politics nationwide. Well, we want to
- 29:49Speaker 1: hear from you. Seven ten wore the Voice of New
- 29:52Speaker 1: York and Risotto went from Mark on a Thursday, and
- 29:54Speaker 1: the numbers eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 29:57Speaker 1: We're going to take your calls next again. It's eight
- 29:59Speaker 1: hundred three two one zero seven ten for seven ten WR.
- 30:04Speaker 1: We're gonna go right to our busy phones. Christina on
- 30:07Speaker 1: Long Island, good morning to you.
- 30:09Speaker 9: Good morning. I was listening to your show and it's
- 30:14Speaker 9: so repetitive of not only your station but others. How
- 30:18Speaker 9: Mandami is going to win and how he has the support.
- 30:23Speaker 9: I mean, the primary was eighteen percent of the Democrats
- 30:27Speaker 9: and he that's such a small percentage. And the other
- 30:32Speaker 9: comment that I have is from what I understand in
- 30:36Speaker 9: the beginning. Mondami has been in for about five or
- 30:39Speaker 9: six sessions in the legislator and in that time he's
- 30:44Speaker 9: only proposed one bill, and he didn't even go up
- 30:49Speaker 9: to Albany to vote for that one bill. Why hasn't
- 30:52Speaker 9: anybody followed up on that?
- 30:54Speaker 7: What was that bill?
- 30:56Speaker 9: And why has he been so inactive?
- 31:00Speaker 1: Well, you know that's these are only because we're short
- 31:02Speaker 1: on time. I'm gonna jump in. You're you're absolutely right
- 31:05Speaker 1: about the bill. And I don't know which bill that was.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I'm sure we could check that out. But just about
- 31:10Speaker 1: every bill that it is right, that is right now
- 31:13Speaker 1: brought before the State Assembly in all buty because the
- 31:15Speaker 1: Assembly is so far to the left, Christine, it's like
- 31:19Speaker 1: you take a look at any bill, just pick anyone,
- 31:21Speaker 1: and it's like how communism can help our lives, How
- 31:24Speaker 1: being to the left is wonderful. I mean, that's what
- 31:26Speaker 1: these bills are insane In the state Assembly. Twenty years ago,
- 31:30Speaker 1: even Democrats would have laughed at them. Today they're sort
- 31:32Speaker 1: of the mainstream in Albany. In terms of why everybody's
- 31:37Speaker 1: talking about Mamdani is because of the polls. Every single
- 31:40Speaker 1: poll has shown him between forty and fifty percent support,
- 31:43Speaker 1: and that is post a primary. We're now talking about
- 31:47Speaker 1: in among the three. So because of that, it is
- 31:50Speaker 1: the reality, and we only can talk about the information
- 31:53Speaker 1: we have. But I'm with you. Listen, believe me. I
- 31:55Speaker 1: don't vote in New York, but if I did, it
- 31:56Speaker 1: wouldn't be for that individual events in Fort Pierce, Florida.
- 32:00Speaker 1: The beautiful sunshine stay, good morning and.
- 32:03Speaker 10: Good morning, you know real quick. On the New Jersey election,
- 32:06Speaker 10: your your previous guests might know a lot, but I
- 32:08Speaker 10: wouldn't take his advice. He's a Democrat, and I believe
- 32:11Speaker 10: the two topics that really put Chitdarelli on the map
- 32:15Speaker 10: were the two things that he said he shouldn't talk
- 32:17Speaker 10: about now. On the mayoral race in New York. I'm
- 32:19Speaker 10: from originally New York and then New Jersey and then here,
- 32:22Speaker 10: so I'm keeping track of both races. And the thing
- 32:25Speaker 10: with New York, there's nine million voters and there's something
- 32:28Speaker 10: like one million people voted in the last election. Yeah,
- 32:31Speaker 10: three hundred thousand. Republic that's all they can get. And
- 32:34Speaker 10: then they're gonna sit here and cry and whine that
- 32:36Speaker 10: the rest of the country needs to bail them out.
- 32:38Speaker 10: They need to bail themselves out. There's not a lot
- 32:40Speaker 10: of sympathy. I gotta tell.
- 32:41Speaker 1: You, Vince, I got to jump only because of the news,
- 32:43Speaker 1: But you're right on every one of those counts, seven
- 32:46Speaker 1: to ten. Wo R. It's now coming up on eleven o'clock.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Time for the news.
