- 0:19Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered, spirited debate upstairs about Rihanna some
- 0:25Speaker 1: people upstairs, guys ever unhappy mailed me text me unhappy
- 0:33Speaker 1: with the playlist. Chris, if you're listening, this could be
- 0:35Speaker 1: the first time Old hundred years here at the organization.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Chris Ferrara. Yeah, but SOS came out and told like
- 0:42Speaker 1: two thousand and eight. Also, when did Umbrella come out?
- 0:46Speaker 1: That two leader is like, Heaven to me, Old Lunch
- 0:48Speaker 1: is here. So we're gonna take a quick break. We
- 0:50Speaker 1: will be when you're supposed to say, Paul's gotta beat.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I didn't want to throw you under the bus. I
- 0:53Speaker 1: was trying to be nice. I'm like, I'm myself under
- 0:54Speaker 1: the bus. He's like, oh, my two leaders of Pepsi's here.
- 0:57Speaker 1: You're there. They let you hold the tape measure. It's
- 0:59Speaker 1: the two point five. What would you do? Would you
- 1:02Speaker 1: take him off your would you take him off your board? No?
- 1:04Speaker 1: I would have happened. Is it's a great I wouldn't
- 1:06Speaker 1: take him off the board. They did, but Matt Light
- 1:09Speaker 1: was a little bit taller like link like actually not
- 1:11Speaker 1: biceps like actually height wise was a little bit taller.
- 1:14Speaker 1: They didn't get their swoll on out. If you just
- 1:16Speaker 1: clip like like Evan's last like four sentences on its
- 1:20Speaker 1: the most bizarre radio. This is Patriots Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan.
- 1:28Speaker 1: All right, welcome into Patriots Unfiltered. We are here Thursday afternoon.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And luckily I was looking a little grim there for
- 1:33Speaker 1: a second, look like me and Evan were about to
- 1:35Speaker 1: have to to run the show. But then our savior,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I'm here. The old man came in. He's he's got
- 1:41Speaker 1: the breadth of knowledge that we need. I even tweeted
- 1:43Speaker 1: it out that it was just gonna be the two
- 1:45Speaker 1: of us for a minute, and then he walked in
- 1:47Speaker 1: like a white knight. He is, we're should do blog talk.
- 1:49Speaker 1: We're talk like bloggers, you know, people who blog about
- 1:53Speaker 1: the Patriots, YouTube, social media, everything. But so I just
- 1:57Speaker 1: will say to everybody, you're welcome. You're welcome to data.
- 2:00Speaker 1: And alex Is is going to be joining us as well.
- 2:02Speaker 1: She's shooting the social media minute right now for for
- 2:06Speaker 1: Patriots All Access. So the TV Star people. They gotta
- 2:08Speaker 1: they have other work to do here during the day us,
- 2:11Speaker 1: you know, trolls that aren't allowed on the tell of
- 2:13Speaker 1: Oh wait, we are on video today, So hello everyone,
- 2:15Speaker 1: thank you for joining us. And we don't even have
- 2:18Speaker 1: morel yet. He'll be coming. We got Chris and Faith
- 2:20Speaker 1: in the booth and so here we are, Paul, this
- 2:23Speaker 1: is Uh. We had the super Bowl to talk about
- 2:25Speaker 1: on Tuesday, and I was coming in thinking about the
- 2:27Speaker 1: show today and I'm like, what are we going to
- 2:29Speaker 1: talk about today? That not a lot of Patriots news,
- 2:32Speaker 1: unless you know, for the cuts last night, for I
- 2:34Speaker 1: don't have, Yeah, you probably should. Let's let's start out
- 2:37Speaker 1: that we have the Voice of Reason, that paper, the
- 2:39Speaker 1: paper of record, so you should. You should probably fill
- 2:42Speaker 1: everybody in on that. So a few cuts last night surprising,
- 2:45Speaker 1: not really quin Quinn Nordine, surprising, Tay Hayes, and Uh
- 2:49Speaker 1: and Christian Wokerson. I thought the surprising thing about Christian
- 2:51Speaker 1: Wilkerson was that he was still in the roster. I
- 2:53Speaker 1: didn't realize I thought he was I thought he was off.
- 2:55Speaker 1: But um, but I was saying upstairs to Evan, like
- 2:58Speaker 1: I kind of feel for Christian Woker because the last
- 3:00Speaker 1: time we saw him on the field was against the
- 3:02Speaker 1: Panthers out in practices. Kind of got cheap shot on
- 3:05Speaker 1: a kickoff return drill. You know, it was on the ground.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I mean, it was a scary moment in camp. We
- 3:11Speaker 1: did see him around the locker room a little bit
- 3:13Speaker 1: this year, but I just feel bad, not that you know,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I thought that Christian Wilkerson was going to develop into
- 3:17Speaker 1: a player for the Patriots, but it's just one of
- 3:19Speaker 1: those things where a bad moment, a guy takes kind
- 3:22Speaker 1: of a hit on you, and who knows where his
- 3:24Speaker 1: career is gonna end up next. It certainly derailed this
- 3:26Speaker 1: season for him. We'll see if he ends up somewhere.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I just I kind of feel bad for the guy.
- 3:30Speaker 1: One play in a joint practice kind of derailed his career.
- 3:33Speaker 1: That was again, I don't know if he was going anywhere,
- 3:35Speaker 1: but but at least, hey a guy on a practice squad.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I feel bad because it was a cheap shot. Yeah
- 3:40Speaker 1: that the you know, it was certainly borderline cheap shot
- 3:43Speaker 1: at best for the Carolina guy. Tempers are running hot,
- 3:46Speaker 1: but I mean, if his career was going anywhere, I
- 3:49Speaker 1: don't think, you know, getting can cust and missing a
- 3:52Speaker 1: season was yeah, sort of derailing it even just for
- 3:55Speaker 1: a guy who gets to be a practice squad guy
- 3:57Speaker 1: for a year. You know, if that's the end of
- 3:58Speaker 1: it for him, I just I think he was probably
- 4:00Speaker 1: made more money on I R than he would have
- 4:02Speaker 1: un the practice sque We'll always have twenty twenty one
- 4:04Speaker 1: when he hit when he played like one game and
- 4:05Speaker 1: caught one pass and everyone against Jacksonville Town two touchdowns. Yeah,
- 4:12Speaker 1: but I think he was at least trending towards maybe
- 4:15Speaker 1: a ROSTERBROL player, right like, as like a fifth or
- 4:18Speaker 1: a sixth receiver. I mean, I'm yeah, might he have
- 4:21Speaker 1: made it instead of well, come on now, don't be
- 4:24Speaker 1: something like that. Yeah, it's possible. Yeah, And then little
- 4:28Speaker 1: Jordan was out. But the other two guys, I mean,
- 4:30Speaker 1: Ta Hayes came late last year as as a filling cornerback.
- 4:33Speaker 1: When all of the injuries started to strike and Quinn
- 4:35Speaker 1: Ordeine got hurt, we never really saw him twenty twenty
- 4:38Speaker 1: ones camp had had a leg inconsistent though too. Actually
- 4:42Speaker 1: I only kicked with one of them, but I never
- 4:45Speaker 1: really thought, I don't know, I felt like he was injured.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Maybe there was something to bring him back. Um, but
- 4:51Speaker 1: I guess might intrigue with him. He probably saved this
- 4:54Speaker 1: for Barth and he's right. My only intrigue with him
- 5:01Speaker 1: was in general terms, young guys like that, Um, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 1: they get hurt, they go, they come, they go whatever,
- 5:08Speaker 1: Like well Krison, you know, he got hurt, he went,
- 5:11Speaker 1: He kept sticking around. So I was wondering, maybe he
- 5:14Speaker 1: really is hurt and there or that, you know, they're
- 5:17Speaker 1: trying to stash him, and then they have they think
- 5:19Speaker 1: he has potential with Nick Folk knocking on the door,
- 5:22Speaker 1: what thirty eight. That was my That was my only, uh,
- 5:26Speaker 1: my only intrigue with Quinn Nordine. That's here is why
- 5:29Speaker 1: is he still here if they don't have any designs
- 5:33Speaker 1: on him? And evidently his training camp was what twenty
- 5:37Speaker 1: one right, his rookie training camp, and they had that
- 5:40Speaker 1: in stadium practice that was not really it wasn't the
- 5:43Speaker 1: the in stadium practice. It was it was like a
- 5:47Speaker 1: scrimmage or and uh, good call. Quinn Nordine was nails
- 5:54Speaker 1: in the instadium practice. I remember it. He went like
- 5:56Speaker 1: five or five. Bill was like high fiving him. Afterwards,
- 6:00Speaker 1: they're super into it. And then he actually made the team. Remember,
- 6:04Speaker 1: initially he made the team cutdown day and they actually
- 6:09Speaker 1: waived Nick Folk and they had Quinn Ordeine make the roster,
- 6:13Speaker 1: and then they were obviously having him make the roster
- 6:15Speaker 1: just to stash him. But that's I guess why. I
- 6:19Speaker 1: felt like there was once upon a time where Quinn
- 6:22Speaker 1: Ordeine they thought maybe they had found something as a
- 6:25Speaker 1: future kicker, a long term future type of outlook, and
- 6:30Speaker 1: then it just disappeared. Right, well, maybe it sets the
- 6:33Speaker 1: stage for somebody who's sneaking their way into every mock
- 6:37Speaker 1: draft now. Jake Moody, the kicker from Michigan, I know you, like,
- 6:40Speaker 1: is this something we could we could make? Fifty one
- 6:42Speaker 1: yards in the Shrine Bowl MVP of the game kicks
- 6:46Speaker 1: off as well. The kicker was the MVP kicked in
- 6:49Speaker 1: in Michigan, so he's got that that cold weather, you know,
- 6:52Speaker 1: bad weather kicking experience. It. Yeah, that makes sense. They
- 6:58Speaker 1: don't have a fifth round pick, though, so they to
- 7:00Speaker 1: figure that. I think it was just you just pencilman
- 7:03Speaker 1: in the seventh on all those mock drafts. A little
- 7:06Speaker 1: bit more poless news though. To save the tickets, prices
- 7:09Speaker 1: were raised. However, I mean, for me, what I saw
- 7:11Speaker 1: it was the parking prices that now parking across the
- 7:14Speaker 1: street will be free if you're willing to hang around
- 7:17Speaker 1: for seventy five minutes, maybe have a couple of cocktails
- 7:19Speaker 1: and fire the girl back up. After the game, they
- 7:21Speaker 1: give you a fifty dollars Visa gift cards. So I mean,
- 7:23Speaker 1: I know it's, you know, disappointing when ticket prices go up,
- 7:26Speaker 1: but I mean I think that they can expedit the
- 7:28Speaker 1: parking and it's free. I thought, I thought that was
- 7:31Speaker 1: a pretty good deal. Yeah, yeah, sure, this does not
- 7:36Speaker 1: apply to anybody in the rooms live. Parking is not
- 7:39Speaker 1: expedited out like a mile away, and and sometimes there's
- 7:43Speaker 1: a shuttle, sometimes not, or depends on how bad the
- 7:47Speaker 1: weather is. It usually starts raining, like right as I
- 7:49Speaker 1: get out of my car too. And before you think
- 7:51Speaker 1: oh and bad weather, they no, No, the better the weather,
- 7:55Speaker 1: the more after you already get a shuttle. I mean
- 7:57Speaker 1: where we parked, they literally call it Spooky World, So
- 7:59Speaker 1: I think that pretty much says it all. But but
- 8:02Speaker 1: if there's a little bit more convenient, I mean, I
- 8:04Speaker 1: was just amazed. I live just a couple of towns
- 8:06Speaker 1: away from here and it's you know, it can be
- 8:08Speaker 1: it can be tough to get in and out of here,
- 8:10Speaker 1: even for you know, somebody who lives close. It was like,
- 8:11Speaker 1: oh you gotta get an uber. You know, there can
- 8:13Speaker 1: be some tough stuff. So this is what I'll say.
- 8:16Speaker 1: They're trying. They know it's a problem. This has been
- 8:18Speaker 1: a problem since I've worked here. It's over two decades now.
- 8:21Speaker 1: They're constantly trying to figure out better, different and better
- 8:25Speaker 1: ways to do it. So to me, I don't know
- 8:28Speaker 1: how you can complain about that. They're always trying to
- 8:30Speaker 1: make it a better situation for their fans, yeah, and
- 8:34Speaker 1: for their customers. I also wonder how much some of
- 8:38Speaker 1: the lots that are not related to the Patriots, like
- 8:41Speaker 1: those secondary business lots like McDonald's down the street always
- 8:45Speaker 1: just opens up. It's a lot on game day or
- 8:49Speaker 1: where that Papa Gino's and d'angelos that's a big one.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Hercules Plasa, Yeah, Hercules plasa, thank you. What happens to
- 8:57Speaker 1: those places though, that charge that charge for it? So
- 9:01Speaker 1: you know, now, like what position are they in? Like
- 9:03Speaker 1: why would you if you can park to pay for
- 9:05Speaker 1: free here, why would you go say, like you know,
- 9:08Speaker 1: that Chinese fe. I don't know which ones like fifty
- 9:10Speaker 1: bucks a pop, like you know, I don't know which
- 9:12Speaker 1: ones are the ones that are owned by the Patriots.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I don't even like, to be honest with you, I
- 9:16Speaker 1: don't know which ones those are. I think it's just
- 9:17Speaker 1: the one directly across like where they do that, right,
- 9:22Speaker 1: you got to go somewhere else. Yeah, that was That
- 9:25Speaker 1: was the other thing. That's that's you know, for a
- 9:26Speaker 1: season ticket members, um, you have the option to pay
- 9:30Speaker 1: for your parking up front. Yeah, so there's no transaction.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Twenty five bucks a game on game day, which that
- 9:35Speaker 1: that's a pretty good Yeah. They do that at the
- 9:37Speaker 1: Garden now too, at the Celtics and the Bruins, and
- 9:39Speaker 1: it's much easier. And it's that's what you don't have
- 9:41Speaker 1: to worry about it. It's our in your your app,
- 9:45Speaker 1: you know your app, where your your tickets are. It's
- 9:47Speaker 1: already in there for you once the season starts, so
- 9:51Speaker 1: it's it's all in one place. It's nice and easy.
- 9:53Speaker 1: My spot when I was a fan was always in
- 9:55Speaker 1: back of the liquor store right right like just beyond
- 9:57Speaker 1: the McDonald's. That spot, which was also the sight of
- 10:00Speaker 1: my first fortuitous meeting crossing paths with my with my
- 10:03Speaker 1: pal Fitzi as well. I was too scared to go
- 10:05Speaker 1: talk to him. Um, But last game I went to
- 10:08Speaker 1: a quick, quick story since it's a Thursday of the
- 10:10Speaker 1: offseason and I could probably have the time to share
- 10:12Speaker 1: a story. Last game I went to was twenty eighteen
- 10:15Speaker 1: against the Chiefs. Here. Yeah, took my wonderful wife. We went.
- 10:18Speaker 1: We parked behind that liquor store, and you know, we
- 10:21Speaker 1: get out after the game and you know, it's always
- 10:23Speaker 1: kind of a cluster, you know, what to get out,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and it's just people trying. And of course there's this
- 10:27Speaker 1: one jerky guy in like like an suv who he
- 10:31Speaker 1: ain't waiting, like he's cutting through people, like there's no
- 10:33Speaker 1: like I go, you go. So he kind of barrels
- 10:36Speaker 1: in and what he didn't realize was that he was
- 10:39Speaker 1: really close to the front of a police car and
- 10:42Speaker 1: actually ended up catching the front of like that you know,
- 10:45Speaker 1: they had like the like the thing on the front
- 10:47Speaker 1: of the cop card or like ram people if they
- 10:48Speaker 1: need to. He caught that thing and like ripped it
- 10:53Speaker 1: off right, and so the cop sees it. I mean,
- 10:55Speaker 1: you know, we're all just sitting here. This guy is
- 10:56Speaker 1: such a jerk. Then you see the cop notice that,
- 10:59Speaker 1: and come the finger oute screaming at the guy, gets
- 11:02Speaker 1: right in his window, gets in his face, made him
- 11:04Speaker 1: pull over right next to the exit and watch every
- 11:08Speaker 1: other car. I can only assume he was there until
- 11:10Speaker 1: the last car left the thing. But it was one
- 11:13Speaker 1: of those moments of like poetic justice where I'm like,
- 11:15Speaker 1: this jerk, he's trying to cut everybody, hits a cop car.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I mean, might have gotten a duy, who knows what
- 11:19Speaker 1: he was trying to do getting out of that parking out,
- 11:21Speaker 1: But just one of those moments it was like finally,
- 11:23Speaker 1: but I know what it's like to try to get
- 11:25Speaker 1: out of this place. Yeah, I remember going. I usually
- 11:29Speaker 1: went to games with my uncle, and I remember that
- 11:32Speaker 1: he would try to park as far away as possible
- 11:35Speaker 1: so that you could when you got out, you were
- 11:36Speaker 1: at the furthest So that means that we used to
- 11:39Speaker 1: have to walk like a mile and a half from
- 11:41Speaker 1: the parking lot to the stadium. And I was not
- 11:44Speaker 1: exactly someone that enjoys exercise or walking as a kid,
- 11:49Speaker 1: so I was always grumpy at all point. And once
- 11:54Speaker 1: the walk in or the walk out though both One
- 11:58Speaker 1: time I was so disgruntled about our situation because I
- 12:02Speaker 1: knew how far we had to walk. It was the
- 12:05Speaker 1: Jacksonville playoff game here and what was that oh six
- 12:08Speaker 1: I think or something around there, and it was like
- 12:11Speaker 1: ten degrees out. It was freezing. It was a divisional
- 12:16Speaker 1: round game or wildcard game against Jacksonville. I was at
- 12:21Speaker 1: the score. Ye, yeah, I and Mike. That's what Mike
- 12:24Speaker 1: got his idea. Yeah, it was okay. So I'm walking
- 12:29Speaker 1: out and my head was down because I was just
- 12:33Speaker 1: trying to power through this walk and I walked right
- 12:38Speaker 1: into a telephone pole, right into a telephone pole. And
- 12:44Speaker 1: to this day, my sister, who was also with us,
- 12:47Speaker 1: does not let me forget that story. She tells me
- 12:50Speaker 1: that story at least once a month when I see her.
- 12:53Speaker 1: And as it turns out, there was a chance that
- 12:58Speaker 1: I might have drinks hot chocolate with some little extra
- 13:02Speaker 1: in there. So maybe I was a little tipsy at
- 13:05Speaker 1: the time too, at thirteen, probably fourteen, But that's like
- 13:10Speaker 1: standard started. So that was that was a good a
- 13:16Speaker 1: good memory about leaving the stadium. And I had one
- 13:19Speaker 1: of the police officers on the horses, you know, they
- 13:21Speaker 1: came over and made sure that I was alive. And
- 13:24Speaker 1: did you fall down after that? Oh yeah, just video right, yeah,
- 13:32Speaker 1: just out. So that is only the second best story
- 13:35Speaker 1: I ever heard about some somebody or something smashing into
- 13:38Speaker 1: a telephone pole Andy Hart, but a brand new Honda
- 13:42Speaker 1: Ridge line had it for like less than two weeks.
- 13:46Speaker 1: And he's in the parking lot dropping his daughter off
- 13:49Speaker 1: and there was like sola glare and he couldn't see
- 13:53Speaker 1: and he drove right into a pole in a school
- 13:55Speaker 1: parking lot, like smashed the whole front and had to
- 13:57Speaker 1: get it all replaced. It was unbellied just after we
- 14:00Speaker 1: got it. Oh yeah, that's my worst nightmare right now.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I got a new car on Saturday, I told you guys.
- 14:06Speaker 1: And last night we were driving home and we picked
- 14:08Speaker 1: up some dinner on the way home and the bag
- 14:11Speaker 1: broke and the food is leaking into my new and
- 14:16Speaker 1: I was like, I can't even We got we got
- 14:22Speaker 1: back in the garage and the new car. I feel
- 14:27Speaker 1: like that's gonna come. I was losing to go to
- 14:30Speaker 1: scrub it out. Oh boy, Well, yeah, we're off on
- 14:33Speaker 1: an off season show. Yeah, it is an off season show.
- 14:36Speaker 1: So I want to bring an off season topic up. Okay,
- 14:39Speaker 1: because I do have one of something that I heard
- 14:42Speaker 1: um on the radio driving in today. I think John
- 14:47Speaker 1: Skipper appeared on the Dan Lebertard show UM talking about
- 14:52Speaker 1: the possibilities of the Super Bowl being pay per view,
- 14:55Speaker 1: and I just throw it out there for you guys
- 14:58Speaker 1: what you think. And I'm sure the listeners will have opinions,
- 15:02Speaker 1: but they said the number you throughout it was like
- 15:04Speaker 1: two hundred and fifty dollars to watch to watch the
- 15:07Speaker 1: Super Bowl. Wow, And I just won't you know, I
- 15:10Speaker 1: wonder what you guys thought about that, you know, would
- 15:13Speaker 1: you do that? Like Kansas City, Philadelphia? I really wonder
- 15:16Speaker 1: if I'm not sure I would pay two and I
- 15:20Speaker 1: would We're else saying no, not only if it was
- 15:22Speaker 1: like a saying put it on the app like wwe
- 15:24Speaker 1: do with Peacock. Well, their pay per views are now
- 15:27Speaker 1: on the you know the app? Yeah, on NFL Plus
- 15:31Speaker 1: and stream it? Like how much went? More ways do
- 15:33Speaker 1: we need to make money off of like the biggest game?
- 15:35Speaker 1: And then like what and then what does that to
- 15:37Speaker 1: to your viewership around the world? Like it's one thing
- 15:39Speaker 1: if like we work in the industry and we're like
- 15:40Speaker 1: I would consider not paying for that. What is somebody
- 15:43Speaker 1: like on the other side of the world who has
- 15:44Speaker 1: even less invested in it, gonna you know, pay right,
- 15:47Speaker 1: you know, in euros or whatever. And the question is too,
- 15:50Speaker 1: Like for bars, I'm sure that would be even more
- 15:53Speaker 1: money because you have more viewers, right, That's usually how
- 15:56Speaker 1: that works for like a prize fight or something like that.
- 15:58Speaker 1: So now you're asking the ours to probably pay and
- 16:02Speaker 1: a radiculous I know that they do that with like
- 16:04Speaker 1: UFC and stuff like that, Like you have to pay
- 16:06Speaker 1: like a business fee, you know, because you're showing it
- 16:09Speaker 1: to a full bar of people versus just at your home.
- 16:13Speaker 1: That would be outrageous if they did that, absolutely outrage
- 16:17Speaker 1: I mean, I hate I hate Neutral Site Conference Championships,
- 16:19Speaker 1: probably a little bit more, but like I just every
- 16:22Speaker 1: time they try to make one of these changes is
- 16:24Speaker 1: like why why, Like you're making tons of money, you
- 16:26Speaker 1: have to find a way to squeeze out every last
- 16:29Speaker 1: cent out of people. And you probably assume that they're thinking,
- 16:33Speaker 1: is that all right, Well, even if our viewership gets
- 16:35Speaker 1: cut by a third, we're still gonna have all the
- 16:37Speaker 1: other seventy or sixty six percent of them paying this
- 16:40Speaker 1: new fee, so that'll you know, still offset any any viewership.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Don't they make it enough from selling commercials and advertising? Well,
- 16:47Speaker 1: and that's their thing. It was interesting listening to them talk.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I heard them on EI this morning, and this is
- 16:52Speaker 1: why I heard the little clip and Greg Hill brought
- 16:56Speaker 1: up saying, well, if you're gonna do that, I don't
- 16:58Speaker 1: want comer. If I'm gonna pay two hundred and fIF
- 17:00Speaker 1: to watch a game, you're taking the take the commercials out,
- 17:02Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not watching that. And then they started
- 17:05Speaker 1: saying they would probably have a whole you know, like
- 17:07Speaker 1: they do with the National Championship game when ESPN there's
- 17:09Speaker 1: like seventy channels and you can watch you know, your
- 17:13Speaker 1: your team's broadcast, the other team's broadcast, stat cast, you know,
- 17:17Speaker 1: all these different ways to consume it. I don't know,
- 17:21Speaker 1: I'm kind of with you guys, like how much is
- 17:24Speaker 1: too much? Like I get that they could do it
- 17:26Speaker 1: and probably make money off of it. Like what was
- 17:29Speaker 1: there like one hundred and I don't one hundred and
- 17:31Speaker 1: fifty million people watch the third of the country. Okay,
- 17:34Speaker 1: so let's just say it's a call it one hundred
- 17:36Speaker 1: and ten hundred and fifty million people, even if you
- 17:38Speaker 1: cut that in half. But you're charging two fifty each, right,
- 17:41Speaker 1: So I'll tell you why you're making billions as as
- 17:44Speaker 1: a football nerd that I admit, fully admit that I am.
- 17:47Speaker 1: If you told me that there was gonna be live
- 17:49Speaker 1: all twenty two for the Super Bowl that I had
- 17:51Speaker 1: to pay for, I'm all in. I would pay for that, hey,
- 17:54Speaker 1: but you you would be But and this is not
- 17:57Speaker 1: even snark, Paul on all twenty two, Like how many
- 18:00Speaker 1: all twenty twos are out there? I'm just gonna fifties
- 18:03Speaker 1: so I can watch it that way. I'm never gonna
- 18:05Speaker 1: pay for the actual broadcast you, Greg Cassell, Matt Bow.
- 18:09Speaker 1: But if they took and I could pay and see
- 18:12Speaker 1: the bird's eye view of the field so I can
- 18:15Speaker 1: actually see all twenty two players every once in a while,
- 18:18Speaker 1: all in on that they do that for the National
- 18:20Speaker 1: Championship with college. They do that on Amazon now has
- 18:24Speaker 1: the like next Gen feed that's all twenty two at times,
- 18:27Speaker 1: and I absolutely love it. But I just think it's funny.
- 18:31Speaker 1: It's like, hey, we're gonna we're going to the Super
- 18:32Speaker 1: Bowl party at Evans House, and and you know there's
- 18:35Speaker 1: like some I can't tell what's going on, or they
- 18:37Speaker 1: want to watch the commercials. Right, there's like, you know
- 18:39Speaker 1: a bunch of people there that are like there for
- 18:40Speaker 1: the course. It was like, where are the commercials that? No, no,
- 18:42Speaker 1: we didn't pay for that feed. We're just watching the
- 18:44Speaker 1: All twenty two? And why is there so far away?
- 18:46Speaker 1: I can't see what shot of the stadium we got
- 18:49Speaker 1: that we got to see the end zone view? Guys,
- 18:51Speaker 1: we gotta see the technique by the line. Sorry, meanwhile,
- 18:54Speaker 1: there's some poor girl friend there. It was like, I
- 18:56Speaker 1: didn't sign up for this, Like I wanted to see
- 18:58Speaker 1: here for commercials at half time. So you would wonder,
- 19:02Speaker 1: you know, could they somehow do that and still make
- 19:06Speaker 1: that ad revenue that they make. Probably it's a machine,
- 19:10Speaker 1: I like, I don't doubt it, but I just want
- 19:11Speaker 1: to like, would they be better off just and they
- 19:13Speaker 1: were throwing this out there too, like so you have
- 19:16Speaker 1: all the different revenue streams that you have with broadcast rights, right,
- 19:19Speaker 1: you know in Fox and CBS and ESPN and now
- 19:23Speaker 1: Amazon and every everything else, you know, and um, what
- 19:28Speaker 1: if you just went and said, Okay, we're gonna put
- 19:30Speaker 1: it on a streaming platform So Amazon, whatever they pay
- 19:34Speaker 1: for that Thursday Night pack, it's just not even gonna
- 19:37Speaker 1: be a pebble in the ocean compared to what they're
- 19:39Speaker 1: gonna have to pay if they want exclusive rights to
- 19:42Speaker 1: stream the super Bowl. Wow. And you would not be
- 19:44Speaker 1: happy with a streaming super Bowl, Paul, I knowing you,
- 19:46Speaker 1: that would be like that, that's a death sentence. But
- 19:48Speaker 1: at least I would be able to say, I have
- 19:51Speaker 1: that streaming service. I don't have to pay additional money
- 19:54Speaker 1: for it. Yeah, they can make their money without having
- 19:57Speaker 1: to soak the fans, that lifeblood of the league, you
- 20:01Speaker 1: know what I mean. Yeah, I don't think we're there yet.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Was streaming to host one hundred million people on the platform,
- 20:09Speaker 1: that would be interesting because Amazon was a bleep show.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Amazon was not bad, but it's still for some people.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Had some issues, intermittent issues throughout the season on Thursday
- 20:19Speaker 1: Night Football, and that's a much smaller audience than what
- 20:23Speaker 1: they're going to have to support on the super Bowl. So,
- 20:26Speaker 1: because I know that's coming, Amazon is going to have
- 20:28Speaker 1: a super Bowl at some point because they can outbid
- 20:30Speaker 1: everybody for for the rights to the Super Bowl. So
- 20:33Speaker 1: that's coming. But I don't know if they have the
- 20:36Speaker 1: infrastructure yet to handle that many and it's weird, bike,
- 20:39Speaker 1: you know, like my my biggest issue with streaming the
- 20:42Speaker 1: games is not an issue for the super Bowl channel
- 20:46Speaker 1: because I'm not changing channels right right, So maybe maybe
- 20:50Speaker 1: it would work. I mean it wouldn't. It wouldn't affect me.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I mean, Bezos can offer as much money as anybody
- 20:55Speaker 1: else NBC, Fox, like forget it, like he can double it.
- 20:59Speaker 1: So I like that Thursday night. Yeah, no, you're offseason
- 21:04Speaker 1: top that's it, And I know I appreciate it, Paul,
- 21:05Speaker 1: because this is what happens when it takes you an
- 21:07Speaker 1: hour and a half to drive to work everywhere? What uh?
- 21:09Speaker 1: And what was what was the topics today on the
- 21:12Speaker 1: upcoming edition of of All Access? Stuff that we've beaten
- 21:16Speaker 1: to death perfect you know, offseason you know, priorities and yeah, Billy, oh,
- 21:22Speaker 1: and I got a couple of things, a couple of
- 21:25Speaker 1: little nuggets to throw out there, though, I thought, what
- 21:27Speaker 1: do you guys think of Rex Ryan supposedly going to
- 21:29Speaker 1: the Bronco's Interesting? Yeah? Interesting? I don't know where how
- 21:32Speaker 1: long has he been out? Like, I mean he was
- 21:33Speaker 1: Buffalo fifteen sixteen. I want to say, sixteen, wasn't that
- 21:38Speaker 1: the year that Brady was suspended for the first four
- 21:40Speaker 1: game sixteen seen? Yes, I think that was his last year. Yeah,
- 21:44Speaker 1: random Like I mean, it's just you'd see there's so
- 21:47Speaker 1: many young guys developing out there, and then all of
- 21:48Speaker 1: a sudden you gotta go back to Rex Ryan. I mean,
- 21:50Speaker 1: I guess Rob Ryan is kind of he's kicked around
- 21:52Speaker 1: for a while too. He's been kind of in and out,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but something in in in Denver and then you'll see
- 21:58Speaker 1: him again. You'll see him this year. I don't know,
- 22:01Speaker 1: just then interesting kind of and connecting to that some
- 22:04Speaker 1: Judy rumors as well, Can I go like, do we
- 22:06Speaker 1: still do I don't know if we did them anymore?
- 22:08Speaker 1: Do we still do? Like the out of town conference
- 22:10Speaker 1: calls with the coach on Wednesday? No, we didn't do
- 22:13Speaker 1: it this year, not as much. I maybe once or
- 22:15Speaker 1: twice if the coach wasn't so nice about it. Yeah,
- 22:18Speaker 1: it stinks I missed those. My guess is, like Rex Ryan,
- 22:23Speaker 1: I always the defensive coordinator, so you wouldn't necessarily get
- 22:25Speaker 1: him as the opposing head coach. But you know he
- 22:28Speaker 1: had that comment about Mac Jones and the pop gun
- 22:31Speaker 1: arm right right, because it was actually in the midst
- 22:35Speaker 1: of a rant that he was really praising Belichick for
- 22:39Speaker 1: somehow finding a way to win all these games. Very
- 22:41Speaker 1: pro Belichick on TV always yeah, yeah, always, And it's
- 22:47Speaker 1: a strange thing, but you would have to really search
- 22:50Speaker 1: far and wide for a really anti Rex Ryan quote
- 22:54Speaker 1: from Bill, and he gave him a lot of trouble.
- 22:57Speaker 1: There's a couple of things. One that I think you
- 22:59Speaker 1: always respect about Rex Ryan was that he's kind of
- 23:02Speaker 1: a game planned defensive coordinator. He doesn't do the Tampa two.
- 23:06Speaker 1: You know that's what we do. If you know how
- 23:08Speaker 1: to rip the Tampa two apart, well we're in trouble
- 23:09Speaker 1: because that's what we do. He doesn't do that. He
- 23:12Speaker 1: changes different things up. But I also think he has
- 23:14Speaker 1: respect for like the coach aspect, Like he's a coach.
- 23:20Speaker 1: His brother was here on the Patriots staff in the
- 23:22Speaker 1: early part of the dynasty. Um, their father was like
- 23:26Speaker 1: like they grew up with it, they understand it. That life,
- 23:30Speaker 1: which is similar to him. When he was with the Jets,
- 23:33Speaker 1: it was some of the most I mean, I want
- 23:35Speaker 1: to say fun for me, just because it was competitive
- 23:37Speaker 1: and he made it. He made it interesting. I mean
- 23:39Speaker 1: away the most three the three most interesting years nine,
- 23:42Speaker 1: ten and eleven. I mean I still remember that two
- 23:45Speaker 1: and nine Week two game. You know, I come here
- 23:47Speaker 1: for the Week one they pulled it out against Buffalo,
- 23:50Speaker 1: one of Brady's you know miracles where they probably shouldn't
- 23:52Speaker 1: have won. UM and then they go down there Welker's out.
- 23:55Speaker 1: They got to throw Edelman in the signs right, they
- 23:58Speaker 1: had all the number was on the sideline trying to
- 24:01Speaker 1: get plays in quick and uh, just a great atmosphere.
- 24:04Speaker 1: It just it just made it fun. That was the
- 24:06Speaker 1: white board game. White board game that right, every game
- 24:08Speaker 1: has a name. That was the white board game, Isaiah,
- 24:12Speaker 1: stand back, stand back. Wow. But you know they got
- 24:17Speaker 1: them what They beat them both times in New York.
- 24:20Speaker 1: I think it was Week two in two thousand and nine,
- 24:21Speaker 1: Week two in two thousand and ten, um, and that
- 24:24Speaker 1: was after I remember two at halftime, like mass Moss
- 24:26Speaker 1: in two thousand and ten had just had this ridiculous
- 24:29Speaker 1: catch one hand and catch and still but then there
- 24:33Speaker 1: was like all Jets second half. And of course then
- 24:36Speaker 1: you have the forty five to three blowout in December. Oh,
- 24:39Speaker 1: there's no way they come back and you know, that
- 24:41Speaker 1: game script just unfolded completely, not the way the Patriots scripted.
- 24:45Speaker 1: That wasn't scripted, but if you were writing a script
- 24:46Speaker 1: about how the Patriots didn't want it to happen, and
- 24:48Speaker 1: I mean it was like that would the crumpler dropped
- 24:50Speaker 1: the touchdown. That was a team that was a team
- 24:52Speaker 1: that I believe set the record for like fewest turnovers
- 24:56Speaker 1: and Brady's throwing picks in the red zone in the
- 24:59Speaker 1: first quarter of the playoff game. It was like, oh yeah,
- 25:02Speaker 1: that game played. Mark Sanchez played out of his mind.
- 25:06Speaker 1: You know, three touchdown games, the one to Santonio Holmes
- 25:08Speaker 1: on the far, perfect far sideline down our end in
- 25:12Speaker 1: the press box. I still remember that that was That
- 25:14Speaker 1: was perfect, perfect throw back as a fan that was
- 25:16Speaker 1: that game was brutal because that team all year long
- 25:19Speaker 1: was a wagon. That team had beaten the Jets forty
- 25:22Speaker 1: five to three. Yeah, they blew them out, and that
- 25:26Speaker 1: team just felt like that was a super Bowl caliber
- 25:28Speaker 1: team and to have them get cut out early was
- 25:31Speaker 1: was crazy. I remember at the time being thought that
- 25:34Speaker 1: team was better than the eleven team, and the eleven
- 25:37Speaker 1: team ended up going to the Super Bowl. Yeah, you know,
- 25:39Speaker 1: minutes away from winning it, right, Yeah, but Rex Ryan
- 25:43Speaker 1: his uh. I think a lot of people remember Vas
- 25:47Speaker 1: and Revis Island and all that kind of stuff, But
- 25:49Speaker 1: his pressure package has always been ahead of the curve
- 25:52Speaker 1: and one of the better ones in the league, even
- 25:54Speaker 1: going back to his Baltimore days as a DC. And
- 25:57Speaker 1: he gave them a lot of trouble up front with
- 25:59Speaker 1: moving part and things like that and disguise looks and whatever.
- 26:03Speaker 1: And now you see teams do it, you know, skiing
- 26:06Speaker 1: rushes or whatever you want to send pressures like that's
- 26:08Speaker 1: the that's what football is now. And Bill and and
- 26:12Speaker 1: Rex were doing that in the late two thousands, early
- 26:16Speaker 1: twenty tens, when ten years before it came really popular.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Did you now did you and Paul I know, like
- 26:23Speaker 1: Moss departure like Moss and you can clarify you were
- 26:26Speaker 1: here exactly what that situation was. But was there any
- 26:30Speaker 1: feeling that that move to kind of I don't want
- 26:33Speaker 1: to say that they went from Moss to Dion back
- 26:34Speaker 1: to Deon Branch like it was a oneful one swap,
- 26:36Speaker 1: But do you think that that kind of evolution that
- 26:39Speaker 1: happened was part of a reaction to Rex Ryan, Like
- 26:42Speaker 1: I always and I forget if I if this was
- 26:45Speaker 1: something that I had heard somewhere that I just kind
- 26:47Speaker 1: of felt, but it just it seemed to me to
- 26:50Speaker 1: a certain extent, like grievous, kind of exed out Moss,
- 26:53Speaker 1: and they just wanted to go to, hey, we got
- 26:55Speaker 1: to beat these pressure packages. The overload blitz is on
- 26:57Speaker 1: one side. We gotta have quick, guys. I don't know.
- 26:59Speaker 1: I don't think so because I don't think it. I
- 27:01Speaker 1: don't think the timeline coincided. I think those packages that
- 27:04Speaker 1: Ev is talking about, and I think he's one hundred
- 27:07Speaker 1: percent right, happened after Moss was gone. The I think
- 27:12Speaker 1: the overriding factor with Randy Moss was Randy Moss is
- 27:15Speaker 1: Randy Moss. And everybody always says, you guys are picking
- 27:19Speaker 1: on Randy. First of all, I liked Randy Moss a lot,
- 27:22Speaker 1: and I'm not, as you guys know, anti talent, like
- 27:25Speaker 1: my good buddy on my show, Mike Felger is the
- 27:28Speaker 1: most anti talents guy I've ever heard in my life.
- 27:31Speaker 1: You can't win if you have a lot of talented players.
- 27:33Speaker 1: According to this backward thinking, you know, trend setting the
- 27:39Speaker 1: bust and media. Yeah, I mean you know, the best
- 27:42Speaker 1: there is. But he has absolutely no clue when it
- 27:45Speaker 1: comes to this topic. He thinks that, you know, like Moss,
- 27:50Speaker 1: you can't win with guys like that, you know whatever.
- 27:52Speaker 1: But because the whole thing was everywhere Randy Moss has
- 27:57Speaker 1: ever gone, people love him. And when things are going great,
- 28:01Speaker 1: it's great because he's in a good mood and everybody
- 28:04Speaker 1: loves him. All of a sudden, that years and it started,
- 28:08Speaker 1: like I can remember specifically, I want to say in
- 28:10Speaker 1: O nine if there was a home game against Carolina
- 28:12Speaker 1: in OH nine, this is the game I'm remembering. He
- 28:15Speaker 1: completely quit. It was one of the first times I
- 28:17Speaker 1: remembered Brady and the Patriots getting booted off the field
- 28:19Speaker 1: at after I was there for that one, and he
- 28:22Speaker 1: just he quit, and you could see that he wasn't
- 28:25Speaker 1: the same guy, wasn't playing the same way. He wasn't
- 28:27Speaker 1: the same guy. And then early in two thousand and
- 28:30Speaker 1: ten he had flashes. I think that catch that you're
- 28:32Speaker 1: talking about what the Jets happened early in two thousand
- 28:35Speaker 1: and ten, and he made some plays. And then there
- 28:37Speaker 1: was another game that he was not a part of
- 28:39Speaker 1: at all. I think the was the opener against Cincinnati
- 28:41Speaker 1: that year when the one you could put, you know,
- 28:44Speaker 1: the shoulders, you could put the earth on him. They
- 28:46Speaker 1: were on the cover side. Yeah, he had like no
- 28:49Speaker 1: interest whatsoever in the fact that they just won the game.
- 28:52Speaker 1: It was I'm not a part of this. And it deteriorated,
- 28:55Speaker 1: and they Bill recognized it and got rid of him immediately,
- 28:58Speaker 1: because that's when it goes bad. This is and it
- 29:00Speaker 1: goes bad not because Randy Moss can't play or can't
- 29:04Speaker 1: do because they love them and now they're gonna side
- 29:06Speaker 1: with him, so you got to remove them. So you
- 29:09Speaker 1: got to remove that problem before it festers. When do
- 29:11Speaker 1: you feel like that? When that started coming down the pike,
- 29:13Speaker 1: like I mean, oh nine, you start to get a
- 29:14Speaker 1: sense of it, And then I did. I used to
- 29:16Speaker 1: have I mean, this is gonna come as a surprise
- 29:18Speaker 1: to you guys, but I used to have arguments with
- 29:20Speaker 1: Fred that Randy Moss had had had quit, right and
- 29:24Speaker 1: you don't know what you're talking about, ye, And then
- 29:27Speaker 1: he would make a catch, and of course that completely dismissed,
- 29:30Speaker 1: you know, anything that I had said, because I said
- 29:31Speaker 1: that he'll never make another catch again. When I said
- 29:34Speaker 1: that he'll he quit. So anyway, just a nice flashback
- 29:37Speaker 1: to you know, arguments of days gone by. Yeah, you could,
- 29:41Speaker 1: I just you could see there were times like I'm
- 29:46Speaker 1: gonna this is be ridiculous. The best regular season game
- 29:50Speaker 1: in OH seven the undefeated stretch was the one at
- 29:53Speaker 1: Indianapolis when two Titans going head to head, Haymaker after Haymaker,
- 29:57Speaker 1: back and forth. Colts are up by ten and the
- 29:59Speaker 1: four quarter Randy Moss made a catch over the middle
- 30:02Speaker 1: with one hand that was incredible. He quit on that play.
- 30:07Speaker 1: He had to catch it with one hand because he
- 30:09Speaker 1: didn't want to get hit, And I was like, that
- 30:14Speaker 1: was kind of like that's one of those if he
- 30:15Speaker 1: reaches the one hand out and it goes off his
- 30:17Speaker 1: hand and it gets picked off, and that's how the
- 30:20Speaker 1: game ends. Everybody's looking at it like that's Randy most
- 30:23Speaker 1: like Felger, that's Randy Moss. Instead it's an unbelievable one
- 30:27Speaker 1: handed catch. It's because that's Randy Moss. Because and to
- 30:31Speaker 1: which I would counter back with Mike Felger and say,
- 30:34Speaker 1: that's why I like talented players, you know. Um So
- 30:37Speaker 1: it was a good That was a good like a
- 30:39Speaker 1: little snapshot of Randy and I loved. I mean, I
- 30:42Speaker 1: wouldn't say I loved covering him because he never really talked.
- 30:44Speaker 1: He would talk once. He would say, you got three questions,
- 30:47Speaker 1: and someone once said what's going on? And he goes,
- 30:48Speaker 1: that's one. So like it wasn't exactly like a fun
- 30:51Speaker 1: guy to cover, but I mean, man, it was. It
- 30:54Speaker 1: was really cool to have a guy that good. Yeah,
- 30:56Speaker 1: you know that Brady was throwing too. I think the
- 30:58Speaker 1: only other guy that was that physically dominant that they've
- 31:02Speaker 1: had his gronk, right, like, just in terms of he
- 31:05Speaker 1: was just better than the other eleven defenders on the field,
- 31:09Speaker 1: And like you O seven, you just remember him just
- 31:12Speaker 1: running through like three or four guys and then he
- 31:14Speaker 1: would just be by the entire defense, Like it just
- 31:18Speaker 1: you have all these NFL players, all these corners that
- 31:20Speaker 1: have run four threes and stuff like that, trying to
- 31:23Speaker 1: keep up with him, and all of a sudden, you know,
- 31:25Speaker 1: they'd pan over and Moss would just be by himself
- 31:28Speaker 1: or he'd catch it between all three of the guys somehow,
- 31:30Speaker 1: and very first game, very first touchdown in the season,
- 31:33Speaker 1: he'd beat triple coverage. Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, And that
- 31:37Speaker 1: was the start of it all. You're just like I
- 31:40Speaker 1: was even gonna just say preseason Gronk, I think rookie
- 31:44Speaker 1: year against the Rams like drag like three guys into
- 31:47Speaker 1: the end zone and like, I mean that was it.
- 31:48Speaker 1: You knew that this guy is gonna be that. You
- 31:50Speaker 1: didn't know to what level. I remember, but great stuff
- 31:54Speaker 1: out of Gronk the last couple of days. I don't
- 31:55Speaker 1: know if you guys have caught any of that, him
- 31:57Speaker 1: talking about being like on a whirlwind tour of teams.
- 32:00Speaker 1: This was like one of the last ones he came here.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I mean, I know Bill has shared the story of
- 32:03Speaker 1: Gronk like passing out. Yeah, but Gronk kind of shed
- 32:06Speaker 1: some new light on it, saying he'd been you know,
- 32:09Speaker 1: Drake Getty was like ready to pass out. So, I mean,
- 32:11Speaker 1: it's a it's amazing that it worked out like that.
- 32:13Speaker 1: But um, I thought it was interesting that he said
- 32:16Speaker 1: that he would sign a one day contract with the
- 32:18Speaker 1: Patriots if they offered it to him. I like did
- 32:22Speaker 1: a double take when I saw that quote, and I
- 32:23Speaker 1: was like, so we got a question in the week. Yeah,
- 32:27Speaker 1: last week, you know was my week in the mail bag,
- 32:29Speaker 1: and someone said, you know, there's been a lot of
- 32:31Speaker 1: talk about Brady, But why wouldn't they do that with Gronk? Yeah,
- 32:34Speaker 1: you know who's never Brady of tight ends? Um yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 1: and it's kind of tough now, like to do it? Now,
- 32:43Speaker 1: what do you do before Brady? I just think I
- 32:45Speaker 1: just think the whole thing is one of those Will
- 32:49Speaker 1: did he ask are you offering? What do you think?
- 32:54Speaker 1: You know? It's I mean, it's one of those I
- 32:57Speaker 1: personally think that teams should never offer it to a player,
- 33:02Speaker 1: But if a player comes to a team and it's
- 33:04Speaker 1: something that you feel feel right about, then sure, what's it?
- 33:07Speaker 1: You know what's the difference. That's how it went down
- 33:09Speaker 1: with Will Fork, right was he came back and said, hey,
- 33:13Speaker 1: let's do this, and they did it. O. Yeah, there
- 33:15Speaker 1: were there were three players and Will Fork and McGinnis
- 33:18Speaker 1: wanted it, and here comes the famous costar fresh off
- 33:23Speaker 1: the social media minute. Um, so yeah, Will Fork and
- 33:27Speaker 1: McGinnis wanted it, and they had come to the Patriots
- 33:30Speaker 1: and they're like, yeah, sure, you know we could, we
- 33:31Speaker 1: could do this, and La there was another player who
- 33:34Speaker 1: didn't want it public So I'm I'm not going to
- 33:36Speaker 1: name the other player. Um, you can tell me off air, well,
- 33:40Speaker 1: I thought I already had. I don't think so. Um so.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I think that's kind of a funny dynamic behind the scenes.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I don't think teams necessarily go lobby their former players
- 33:49Speaker 1: and say, hey, would you you should coming back with
- 33:51Speaker 1: a ceremony for especially teams of the Patriots status. I
- 33:55Speaker 1: don't really. I mean, I just it goes back to
- 33:56Speaker 1: I don't really care about it the like ceremonial contract,
- 33:59Speaker 1: like I get him back. In exact, it's high up
- 34:03Speaker 1: today I usually put it lower. That's why how did
- 34:05Speaker 1: it go, Alex? I think it went okay. I didn't
- 34:08Speaker 1: have to do that many takes, which was cool. The
- 34:10Speaker 1: guys were hyping me up. I'm still shaking though. Really,
- 34:14Speaker 1: yeah we were. What were your updates on, like Valentine say,
- 34:17Speaker 1: we had some I've seen a lot of mac Jones
- 34:19Speaker 1: working out on the internet. That's been except little bit. Yeah.
- 34:21Speaker 1: We talked about Laurence guy winning a big Rachel Ray
- 34:25Speaker 1: competition with making some nachos. I saw that he won.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Look at me seeing stuff on social Larry Gay Larry,
- 34:33Speaker 1: did they have chicken in him or something? Because he
- 34:35Speaker 1: know he had like he is he because he put
- 34:38Speaker 1: shootizo in them. And wagou beef so that they were
- 34:41Speaker 1: some legitimate Was that the Portuguese pronunciation of Portuguese as
- 34:47Speaker 1: shorty sure tortiso is more. I think the Mexazicane Spanish
- 34:51Speaker 1: way to say it, but shorty suit I know it's
- 34:53Speaker 1: like that's yeah, that's uh ah good stuff. Well, uh
- 35:03Speaker 1: give us a call a five five pm. Glad it went,
- 35:06Speaker 1: shoot usmails for the web radio assist them. Yeah, we
- 35:10Speaker 1: have to get Alex's opinion on the news of the day.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Though Joe Missoula longer Little Boss Celtics, I do love it.
- 35:19Speaker 1: I'm skeptical. Well, I don't know if you know this
- 35:22Speaker 1: about me, Evan, if he doesn't work, I wasn't an
- 35:25Speaker 1: emay girl. I mean not that surprising. Does that mean
- 35:30Speaker 1: I mean he never hit on you? Well no, okay,
- 35:34Speaker 1: I thought that made a different thing. Sorry. If you
- 35:36Speaker 1: go back to my first show, I was critical of
- 35:40Speaker 1: emay A Doka and that was like last year before
- 35:42Speaker 1: any of that stuff came out. I think a critical
- 35:47Speaker 1: certain line that I forgot a feel for his rotations.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I think Missoula has a better feel for the game.
- 35:53Speaker 1: I like his in game adjustments. I like when he
- 35:55Speaker 1: calls him out. There's a few things here and there
- 35:57Speaker 1: that I pick up, but I let me no one
- 36:00Speaker 1: calls one thank you. I'll see if I like when
- 36:02Speaker 1: he calls to like. So that's my my two biggest ccrips. Oh,
- 36:05Speaker 1: they'rerun a thirty eight to two run. You might want
- 36:07Speaker 1: to get a little break. But my two biggest scribes
- 36:09Speaker 1: with with Joe, and I think a lot of this
- 36:11Speaker 1: is related to him being a younger coach and he'll
- 36:13Speaker 1: figure it out as the time goes on. One, Jason
- 36:16Speaker 1: Tatum plays way too much, way too much. But did
- 36:20Speaker 1: you see Jason was mad yesterday? He was leaving the
- 36:22Speaker 1: game because he was two points away from forty. That
- 36:25Speaker 1: is something exactly, and that's why he got pulled with
- 36:31Speaker 1: thirty eight points. Oh yeah, thirty eight points with one
- 36:33Speaker 1: minute left to get two minutes after he tried to
- 36:36Speaker 1: get forty three times down the core and couldn't. Hey,
- 36:38Speaker 1: I have the same critique. I literally sat there and
- 36:40Speaker 1: I said, why is Jason Tatum still? He did the
- 36:43Speaker 1: same thing like three weeks ago. I was at the
- 36:46Speaker 1: game that they at the home game against the Hornets
- 36:49Speaker 1: with my father and me and my dad go to
- 36:52Speaker 1: a lot of games and I'm sitting there and I'm
- 36:54Speaker 1: We're both looking at each other. Why the heck is
- 36:57Speaker 1: JT still in this game? Well, and it's gonna come
- 37:01Speaker 1: back to bite them. I hope it doesn't knock on wood,
- 37:03Speaker 1: but like it could, and that that drives me nuts.
- 37:06Speaker 1: The other thing is is he's got to get better
- 37:08Speaker 1: at managing the end of the game because they're gonna
- 37:10Speaker 1: get into a playoff series. It's gonna be Game six
- 37:12Speaker 1: or Game seven of the NBA Finals and he's gonna
- 37:16Speaker 1: not call a time out and they're gonna blow the game.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Would you rather the situation we had last year at
- 37:21Speaker 1: the end of the game? I think they couldn't finish
- 37:24Speaker 1: a game last year. That's fair. Now we have the
- 37:27Speaker 1: Hospital Celtics bench lineup almost beating the Bucks and ot
- 37:31Speaker 1: because they know how to finish games now. But if
- 37:33Speaker 1: you had called that time out in overtime, do they
- 37:36Speaker 1: drop a good play and get a good look and
- 37:38Speaker 1: might actually win that game? Like? How she she changes that? Like?
- 37:41Speaker 1: I don't like emay, so we implode it down the
- 37:44Speaker 1: stretch of games. I like Joe Maszula. So the fact
- 37:46Speaker 1: that we blew a five point later in overtime. Nothing
- 37:48Speaker 1: to see here, Okay, we look at the guys that
- 37:50Speaker 1: were on the who was on the floor, A lot
- 37:54Speaker 1: of Celtics. This is fun. Yeah, let's get off of it.
- 37:58Speaker 1: To this kid, my favorite line never I didn't want
- 38:00Speaker 1: a man sport. I'm just saying if I basketball is
- 38:03Speaker 1: one of those sports where talent, Like, if you have
- 38:06Speaker 1: a roster like the Celtics do, you're gonna be a
- 38:08Speaker 1: good basketball team. So he's in the margins, right, Like
- 38:11Speaker 1: he's got to coach him up in the margins to
- 38:13Speaker 1: be a championship team. And I just I don't know
- 38:16Speaker 1: if I've seen that, Like if you put me on
- 38:18Speaker 1: the bench with Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown and Marcus Smart,
- 38:20Speaker 1: like probably a playoff team. Well, especially if Smart missus
- 38:24Speaker 1: twenty games like he has, then you're definitely like number
- 38:26Speaker 1: one seed in the league. I'm obviously, But Damon Stodemeyer,
- 38:29Speaker 1: can you know the assistant coach can probably coach? I
- 38:32Speaker 1: agree with you. I think there's two things to coaching
- 38:34Speaker 1: in the NBA, And talent is like ninety five percent,
- 38:37Speaker 1: and then can you make sure they are they going
- 38:39Speaker 1: to play hard most nights? And the Celtics play harder
- 38:42Speaker 1: than most of the teams that play against. That's the
- 38:44Speaker 1: best thing about him. He seems to really get the
- 38:47Speaker 1: energy in the ring. Like did you watch much of
- 38:50Speaker 1: that Milwaukee game? Um, I watched most of the fourth quarter.
- 38:54Speaker 1: I wasn't home. Yeah, I think fourth quarter. I think
- 38:58Speaker 1: that was an amazing performance. I'm like a green team
- 39:01Speaker 1: or when it came to that game, I was like,
- 39:03Speaker 1: that was pretty cool. I mean more, it's basically our JV's,
- 39:06Speaker 1: you know, it's the Milwaukee spent Milwaukee spent the game
- 39:10Speaker 1: almost laughing, and then all of a sudden they were like,
- 39:12Speaker 1: holy bleep, we're gonna lose this game, right, you know,
- 39:16Speaker 1: And then they went on like a fourteen to two run,
- 39:17Speaker 1: and Missourla just said, nothing to see here, let's just
- 39:19Speaker 1: let it go. I do think that's a difference though,
- 39:22Speaker 1: between the what I've seen from the Celtics this year.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Like the Celtics might keep it close against the backups
- 39:28Speaker 1: for a half, but this Celtics team, they would drop
- 39:31Speaker 1: the hammer in the second half, at least in the
- 39:33Speaker 1: fourth quarter, Like they would not go to overtime against
- 39:36Speaker 1: Milwaukee's scrubs, that that would not happen. So I think
- 39:39Speaker 1: he's got a great Yeah. They've handled Milwaukee pretty well
- 39:43Speaker 1: in the regular season. They didn't not so much in
- 39:46Speaker 1: the playoffs. But in the regular season last year, you know,
- 39:48Speaker 1: like last year. In this year, they've they've owned them. Yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 1: owned Milwaukee, Milwaukee. All right, let's let's jump back over
- 39:54Speaker 1: to the phones. We got Tim's dying. Tim, Tim, save us,
- 39:58Speaker 1: take us back to the Patriots. What's going on? Hey,
- 40:01Speaker 1: how are you doing? Guys? Good? Good. I'm just gonna
- 40:04Speaker 1: say I'm a Northeastern student. I was at the beam
- 40:06Speaker 1: pot on Monday. Paul, You're absolutely right. Should have been
- 40:09Speaker 1: continuous five on five until someone scored. It's such a
- 40:12Speaker 1: great game. Had to end like that. No, I don't
- 40:14Speaker 1: have any problem with the three on three either. I
- 40:16Speaker 1: the five minute three on three was awesome, but I
- 40:19Speaker 1: hate it. It was a great overtime. Yeah, it should
- 40:21Speaker 1: be five on five until someone scored. So, yeah, I
- 40:24Speaker 1: don't want that either. I don't want to. I don't
- 40:27Speaker 1: want to play a little bit. Yeah, I want someone
- 40:29Speaker 1: to score and ended. I don't want like those like
- 40:31Speaker 1: triple overtime games. To me. It just it was fantastic.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Twenty nineteen THEYDPU and double overtime. It was the best
- 40:38Speaker 1: game I've ever seen. I can't do anyway, I got
- 40:42Speaker 1: I got a question for you. Yeah, yeah, So I
- 40:44Speaker 1: live with three Tom Brady haters, full on Rogers is
- 40:47Speaker 1: the goat. Brady is a system quarterback, got carried for
- 40:50Speaker 1: twenty years by his defense, right, that's ridiculous. Their primary
- 40:54Speaker 1: argument is that wins and not a quarterback stat I
- 40:57Speaker 1: agree with that, But the defense thing for Brady is
- 40:59Speaker 1: apply ridiculous. The vast majority of his wins came with
- 41:02Speaker 1: crappy defense. Just everybody. Everybody remembers like oh one and
- 41:06Speaker 1: three and four, like twenty eleven, one of the worst
- 41:10Speaker 1: defenses I ever saw. He's in the super Bowl like that.
- 41:14Speaker 1: That argument for Brady is way off base. No, I agree.
- 41:18Speaker 1: So so here's what you gotta tell me. Tell me
- 41:20Speaker 1: why Brady is the goat without using win, you want
- 41:25Speaker 1: to do a little well, I'll just God, can I
- 41:29Speaker 1: see it up? And that's why I say well, I mean,
- 41:31Speaker 1: I just I've said this before about Brady. I think
- 41:33Speaker 1: for me, what sets him apart is just situationally, with
- 41:35Speaker 1: the game on the line, he consistently and especially in
- 41:39Speaker 1: Super Bowls, put up unstoppable performances, you know, and definitely
- 41:42Speaker 1: everything to do with the defense. But every single Super
- 41:45Speaker 1: Bowl that they had he made a drive at the
- 41:47Speaker 1: end to possibly and and and obviously six cases give
- 41:50Speaker 1: them the win. You know, I would say those moments.
- 41:52Speaker 1: I think that's a strong one. I think that that's
- 41:54Speaker 1: a great one for you, tim Is, you know, and
- 41:57Speaker 1: this is not just wins, but just crunch times. So
- 41:59Speaker 1: you need you need to clutch score. Throw it against
- 42:03Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady and tell me you know
- 42:05Speaker 1: which one you would take. But for me, and this
- 42:08Speaker 1: is what I always say about Brady, Brady is the
- 42:10Speaker 1: guy who shows up and says, Okay, what are the
- 42:13Speaker 1: rules today? What we're gonna play? Indoors? Tom, Okay, what
- 42:17Speaker 1: are the rules today? Oh, we're gonna play. It's gonna
- 42:18Speaker 1: be about thirty below and there's gonna be six inches
- 42:21Speaker 1: of snow in the ground. Okay, we're gonna throw the
- 42:24Speaker 1: ball fifty times. Okay, We're gonna run the ball every
- 42:26Speaker 1: play and play. Okay, He's gonna beat you no matter
- 42:28Speaker 1: what the parameters are. He wins under every single stat
- 42:33Speaker 1: across the board. He excels at his winning percentage is
- 42:37Speaker 1: ridiculous the same. That's to me, what separates Brady from
- 42:41Speaker 1: everybody else is like consistency. Everybody else needs the game
- 42:45Speaker 1: to go a certain way. He doesn't. Yeah, Brady can
- 42:49Speaker 1: beat you anyway. Absolutely. There you go, Tim, good luck
- 42:52Speaker 1: with our game with your roommates. Thanks for It's so
- 42:54Speaker 1: crazy people still have those archaic opinions and the year
- 42:56Speaker 1: of our Lord three Rodgers. Well, even like the d
- 43:00Speaker 1: defense one kind of bugs me because as you got
- 43:02Speaker 1: to like oh, five oh six, those defenses were a
- 43:06Speaker 1: product of the offense, and it was like that for
- 43:08Speaker 1: ten years, twelve years, not a small sample size. Yeah,
- 43:11Speaker 1: the defense statistically was really strong because you scored thirty
- 43:15Speaker 1: five every game and the other team had to scramble
- 43:17Speaker 1: to try to score thirty five to keep up with you,
- 43:19Speaker 1: and sometimes they kept up with you for a little
- 43:21Speaker 1: while and then they turned it over. Like that's where
- 43:23Speaker 1: the Patriots played. That's how they played defense in twenty eleven.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Oh my god, they just held on and then you
- 43:29Speaker 1: just scored more points than they and they probably got
- 43:31Speaker 1: and they scored like five hundred and fifty points that year.
- 43:34Speaker 1: That's how they went to the Super Bowl. A lot
- 43:36Speaker 1: of picks too. I also what bothers me with Brady
- 43:39Speaker 1: is that people think that he's not physically talented, like
- 43:43Speaker 1: that that piece of it just they take like the
- 43:46Speaker 1: combine picture of him in the right look what he
- 43:48Speaker 1: came from and the fact that he didn't, you know,
- 43:50Speaker 1: run like a four to six playing quarterback or something
- 43:52Speaker 1: like that, And I just that just drives me absolutely
- 43:56Speaker 1: nuts because there is not a better mechanical thrower of
- 44:00Speaker 1: the football and maybe in the history of the league
- 44:02Speaker 1: than Tom Brady. Like his mechanics are on the mount
- 44:08Speaker 1: rushmore like if you're a quarterbacks coach and you're like,
- 44:10Speaker 1: how should I throw a football? Coach, like, that's the
- 44:12Speaker 1: guy that you're pulling up tape of because he was
- 44:15Speaker 1: just absolutely pristine with all of it, from his feet
- 44:19Speaker 1: to his hips to his shoulders, all of it. Just
- 44:22Speaker 1: an absolutely beautiful throwing motion and generated a lot of
- 44:26Speaker 1: velocity from that throwing motion too, and as it improved
- 44:30Speaker 1: throughout his career, got a stronger and stronger and stronger
- 44:33Speaker 1: arm because of how clean he was with his mechanics.
- 44:36Speaker 1: So I always get bothered by people being like, oh, well,
- 44:39Speaker 1: you know, he doesn't have that, He's not physically gifted
- 44:42Speaker 1: or he wasn't you know, tools or whatever. It's not
- 44:44Speaker 1: a runner everything else. He's got an immense physical gifts. Yeah.
- 44:47Speaker 1: How about the Northeastern women's Huskies hockey team. They took
- 44:51Speaker 1: the that really is the Northeastern invitation? Yeah, Like I
- 44:55Speaker 1: joke around about the men's because they've won four out
- 44:58Speaker 1: of five and he's how many of the women still
- 44:59Speaker 1: have it? Eighteen? Wow, eighteen out of like forty something.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I was standing really good program. Uh, let's go back
- 45:05Speaker 1: to the phones. Eldred and North Carolina Haldred. Hey, Fello's
- 45:10Speaker 1: how y'all doing? And lady, how y'all doing? Hey, I'm
- 45:15Speaker 1: a self defan too love him. But I did see
- 45:18Speaker 1: Jaylen Brown play other night. Is he hurt? Yeah? Broken
- 45:21Speaker 1: orbital bone and broken face. He's gonna have one of
- 45:24Speaker 1: those massive, one of those clear ones like from the nineties.
- 45:28Speaker 1: I think it's a black one. Batman, oh, batman? Okay,
- 45:32Speaker 1: and Paul Sir, have to disagree with you about Randy
- 45:36Speaker 1: Moth from and you know, I knude they bathed him
- 45:39Speaker 1: out down all the offense and even why why they
- 45:45Speaker 1: faced him out because when they got when they got
- 45:47Speaker 1: grunk and they got Hernandez, they were too tidy is
- 45:51Speaker 1: with y'all? And even grunt and Nan said, Martha ran
- 45:54Speaker 1: decord so they can get open towards the middle, and
- 45:56Speaker 1: he got tad being decor. Mars wanted to beat Jimmy
- 45:59Speaker 1: Rice Rucket, but he couldn't do it with New England,
- 46:02Speaker 1: so he like did they traded him in all this
- 46:04Speaker 1: stuff because Billy Old faded him out down like they
- 46:07Speaker 1: try to do Welcot. So two things that two things.
- 46:12Speaker 1: How many games did Randy Moss play with Rob Gronkowski
- 46:16Speaker 1: and Aaron Hernandez when they first started? When the first
- 46:19Speaker 1: to them out about what Devin eight? I mean, I'm
- 46:22Speaker 1: gonna go four, but that's off the top of my head. First.
- 46:25Speaker 1: The second. The second thing I'll say is how did
- 46:27Speaker 1: Randy Moss do when he left? Oh? He was pissed
- 46:31Speaker 1: because I said, no know. How did he play? He went?
- 46:33Speaker 1: He was on a couple more teams after he was
- 46:35Speaker 1: on Minnesota, Tennessee, San Francisco. He was d He came
- 46:41Speaker 1: back and done. He did nothing. He did nothing when
- 46:46Speaker 1: he left started it started back here and even and
- 46:49Speaker 1: even um, even Big Bill when they did at football
- 46:52Speaker 1: Life said okay, if they're gonna fade out most and welcome,
- 46:55Speaker 1: we got describe another offense to come around. He said,
- 46:58Speaker 1: when we got to die, it definitely gone. If they
- 47:00Speaker 1: cover Moss over the top and slammed down on Welker,
- 47:03Speaker 1: we have nothing to go to, is what he said.
- 47:06Speaker 1: And I'm paraphrasing, and we're done. But he didn't say
- 47:08Speaker 1: we're facing out Moss. No, yeah, he didn't say, you know,
- 47:10Speaker 1: he didn't say we're gonna face out mouth. But he
- 47:12Speaker 1: said we can't win if they cut him off. We
- 47:14Speaker 1: gotta do some milk tonight. And that was in oh
- 47:16Speaker 1: nine he kept complaining about And that was the year
- 47:19Speaker 1: before they traded him. They already knew he was tailing off.
- 47:25Speaker 1: He did like Eldred. Believe me, no one has more
- 47:27Speaker 1: respect for Randy Moss's ability than I do. I think
- 47:31Speaker 1: you want to talk about like we just talked about
- 47:34Speaker 1: Brady and the physical gifts and Aaron Rodgers probably both
- 47:36Speaker 1: physically get Randy Moss is probably the most physically gifted
- 47:40Speaker 1: wide receiver to ever play. He's not as good as
- 47:43Speaker 1: Jerry Rice, but he's probably a better physical athlete than
- 47:47Speaker 1: than than Jerry Right, Yes, everything, yeah, but uh yeah,
- 47:52Speaker 1: I know, but like he wanted that record. But when
- 47:54Speaker 1: they but when they did that, he faded out whatever
- 47:56Speaker 1: and they traded him whatever. It was another wide receiver
- 47:58Speaker 1: that beat that record. That to me, like I said,
- 48:01Speaker 1: months have been are the more years you had that rucord?
- 48:04Speaker 1: And that's what he just got tired of being a deco.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Evens did that also, even Brady try to talk to
- 48:09Speaker 1: him a little bit, but that didn't work. Like I said,
- 48:11Speaker 1: he's one of Hall of Famers and and he's like
- 48:14Speaker 1: yeas Hall of Famers like everybody were, oh you do that?
- 48:20Speaker 1: Was that? Well? Mount up? Take it easy, all right,
- 48:24Speaker 1: all right, biggie Big he loves him. He loves the
- 48:30Speaker 1: moss and he's like places, he loves it. He called
- 48:33Speaker 1: him the other day about Quentin Johnson from TCU. I'm
- 48:36Speaker 1: like a little bit, I've been really laughing at Phil
- 48:39Speaker 1: Perry and how like you guys are so diametrically opposite
- 48:43Speaker 1: when it comes to him. Yeah, I've been in alger
- 48:46Speaker 1: causey don't like Quinton Johnson. What are you talking about? Like, sorry,
- 48:51Speaker 1: we pay you gotta have a pinions. Let's let's grab
- 48:53Speaker 1: Patty and Aguham. Hey, Patty has going in, Hey, what's
- 48:56Speaker 1: up everyone? You just we're just chugging through this Thursday
- 49:00Speaker 1: show to be honest with you. All right, all right,
- 49:03Speaker 1: um pully, I'm with you. I'm I'm a lover of
- 49:06Speaker 1: talent part of me, and I think this team. I
- 49:11Speaker 1: know I sound like a broken di record, but I
- 49:13Speaker 1: think we do need that alpha guy. We thought when
- 49:17Speaker 1: we had the greatest player in NFL history here and
- 49:20Speaker 1: years like two thousand and six, two and thirteen one,
- 49:23Speaker 1: they didn't have like that big alpha dog. Yeah, Brady
- 49:27Speaker 1: dragged them to the AFC Championship, but they couldn't close
- 49:31Speaker 1: the deal because we didn't have those those big alpha
- 49:34Speaker 1: dogs like freaking you know well they did, that's Grey
- 49:38Speaker 1: Brown and oh six, but like Gronk or like Welker
- 49:41Speaker 1: or Randy Moss and I just you know, I want
- 49:45Speaker 1: to see them. I don't I don't know where it's
- 49:46Speaker 1: going to come from, but I would love to see
- 49:48Speaker 1: them just swing like a crazy blockbuster deal for somebody. Evan,
- 49:53Speaker 1: I know you're you're big justin Jefferson, guy Solem, I
- 49:56Speaker 1: I don't think that's in the card. Go him. Um,
- 50:00Speaker 1: I'd be happy with Judy. I'd like to see what dude,
- 50:03Speaker 1: he could do in the thought end, because yeah, so Mike,
- 50:05Speaker 1: do you think if if Minnesota was gonna trade like
- 50:08Speaker 1: their spot in the first round for the Patriots spot
- 50:11Speaker 1: of the first you just watch switch spots, would you
- 50:13Speaker 1: trade that's a that's a high price, pol How many
- 50:16Speaker 1: first round picks can you give up for one player?
- 50:18Speaker 1: That's what I would trade for man. I mean, he's
- 50:22Speaker 1: my he's my son, Campbell's screensaver. He loves him too.
- 50:24Speaker 1: I mean that's we would get him here for sure.
- 50:27Speaker 1: You'd have to give like a herschel Walker type deal
- 50:29Speaker 1: back in the day done for him. To the content,
- 50:34Speaker 1: the gritty content, it would it would flow like wine.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Thanks Patty. I'm gonna grab one more before we take
- 50:39Speaker 1: a break for lunch so that we all can eat
- 50:42Speaker 1: our lunches. Thank you, Paul. It's my lunch right here.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Going down to William and Philadelphia. Hey, William, how are
- 50:47Speaker 1: you doing? Hey? What's what's going on? How you doing? Good? Good? Um?
- 50:54Speaker 1: I got a question for Eld I'm sorry you just
- 50:58Speaker 1: miss home. And also to something that Elder said basically
- 51:03Speaker 1: that I agree with, so um Edmonds, what's wrong with
- 51:06Speaker 1: I mean, okay, so every time we get it is
- 51:08Speaker 1: a toll receiver that we might want to get. You
- 51:11Speaker 1: want to always connect them to Nick Hill, Harry. What
- 51:13Speaker 1: if what if Quinton Johnson does be that dude? Are
- 51:16Speaker 1: you going to backfed on and didn't stay? Oh well,
- 51:19Speaker 1: I guess Will and Ell and everybody was saying something
- 51:21Speaker 1: to you he turned out to be a stud, didn't
- 51:24Speaker 1: with you know what I mean? I So, just to
- 51:27Speaker 1: be clear, I think Quintin Johnson has a very very
- 51:31Speaker 1: high chance of being a very good player in the NFL,
- 51:35Speaker 1: not for the New England Patriots. Like that's I look
- 51:38Speaker 1: at everything through Patriots Lens right, I would have Quintin
- 51:42Speaker 1: Johnson is probably the best receiver in this draft if
- 51:44Speaker 1: I was just straight up random team X. Okay, But
- 51:49Speaker 1: the problem is is that his flaws as a player
- 51:54Speaker 1: are flaws that they have not successfully been able to
- 51:57Speaker 1: coach up and develop and turn into strengths for play
- 52:00Speaker 1: like route running, like separation ability at the first and
- 52:03Speaker 1: second level of the defense. Those types of things are
- 52:06Speaker 1: the reason why a lot of their busts at that
- 52:09Speaker 1: position have busted. So I'm very weary of those types
- 52:14Speaker 1: of players for them, simply because I don't think that
- 52:16Speaker 1: they can develop them into good players. I think Quentin
- 52:19Speaker 1: Johnson could go to Pittsburgh and probably be an absolute
- 52:22Speaker 1: star for the Steelers, but the Patriots unfortunately are not
- 52:26Speaker 1: that team. Is that because that because Tim Brown I
- 52:29Speaker 1: don't know how to build up our receiver. I just
- 52:33Speaker 1: don't think that that is an area other than really
- 52:37Speaker 1: when they had Moss, who were just talking about. I
- 52:39Speaker 1: just don't think that that's been a position or an
- 52:41Speaker 1: area of the field that they have really amplified successfully
- 52:46Speaker 1: at that position, other than when they had maybe the
- 52:48Speaker 1: best deep threat of all time on their roster. So
- 52:51Speaker 1: I just I don't think it's a part of their
- 52:53Speaker 1: offense that is really schemed up well, coached well, and
- 52:57Speaker 1: they're more of a team that does better with the
- 53:00Speaker 1: route runners and the inside guys. Okay, um my last okay,
- 53:04Speaker 1: So my last take and that's it after that. Um, So,
- 53:08Speaker 1: what I told you yesterday about I guess saying short people,
- 53:10Speaker 1: I was referring to basically the corner position. You know,
- 53:14Speaker 1: we have a lot of short corners and it's time
- 53:16Speaker 1: to get like points that's like over six foot And
- 53:18Speaker 1: I have no problem with Ringo. If Ringo fall t
- 53:21Speaker 1: take him and I mean if if if our boards off,
- 53:24Speaker 1: the board off offer the tackle that we all want.
- 53:26Speaker 1: But if he's off and Ringer's right there, I don't
- 53:29Speaker 1: have a problem with that. Six two from Georgia. I
- 53:31Speaker 1: don't have a problem with that at all. I don't. Yeah, yea,
- 53:34Speaker 1: y'all agree with you. Size of the corner. I think
- 53:37Speaker 1: it's a little bit of an issue. Yeah, yeah, Like
- 53:39Speaker 1: I just said, all three Joneses, you know, they're they're
- 53:43Speaker 1: they're a little small. Even Jayleen was six feet. It's
- 53:46Speaker 1: not like he's sixty three. Yeah, But with Ringo is
- 53:49Speaker 1: his biggest issue is change of direction. That guy he
- 53:53Speaker 1: can't he can't stop like and that's it's honestly something
- 53:57Speaker 1: that I've learned more about in the last couple of years.
- 53:59Speaker 1: But with fivers and corners, I know it sounds ridiculous,
- 54:02Speaker 1: but being able to stop when you're moving at full
- 54:05Speaker 1: speed is like actually a very big part of that
- 54:07Speaker 1: those two positions. And he's one of those guys where
- 54:10Speaker 1: they'll get vertical on him and then when they cut
- 54:13Speaker 1: it off right they break on you know, a comeback
- 54:15Speaker 1: or a dig or something. He can't slow himself down
- 54:18Speaker 1: and then he ends up driving by the guy and
- 54:20Speaker 1: losing him at the top of the route. So I
- 54:23Speaker 1: have concerns about that with his game in particular. But
- 54:27Speaker 1: there's a million six foot two corners in this draft,
- 54:30Speaker 1: like that's not a problem, and this one j Joey
- 54:35Speaker 1: Porter junior, Christian Gonzalez, Deante Banks from Maryland, Cam Smith,
- 54:40Speaker 1: like I can. I can rattle off a hundred of them,
- 54:43Speaker 1: so that there's a lot of really good depth in
- 54:46Speaker 1: this draft. With that body before we go to the break,
- 54:48Speaker 1: I want to give Evan something to ruminate during the break.
- 54:51Speaker 1: I'm sure we'll talk about it as I'm meeting my
- 54:53Speaker 1: fat face. You brought up something that I think is
- 54:57Speaker 1: interesting about the wide receivers and they might have of
- 55:00Speaker 1: the ability to play and have successful careers, but not
- 55:03Speaker 1: with New England. Is there a guy in the league
- 55:05Speaker 1: right now that you think is really good that you
- 55:07Speaker 1: would be like, I'm not sure he would fit, you know,
- 55:10Speaker 1: Like I'm right off something hit like Mike Evans. It's
- 55:14Speaker 1: a good one. Mike Evans. Is that you know, tall
- 55:17Speaker 1: outside guy a lot of verticals, obviously had a really
- 55:20Speaker 1: good career with Tampa. Some people have sort of wondered
- 55:24Speaker 1: if Tampa's going to have a fire sale and would
- 55:26Speaker 1: you be interested in would would that be a guy
- 55:28Speaker 1: that falls into that category. Yeah, that's a good one.
- 55:30Speaker 1: Hold your thought. Maybe we'll answer it after the break,
- 55:33Speaker 1: So tune in. We're gonna take a quick one, we
- 55:34Speaker 1: eat some food, and we'll be right back. Verizon, the

- 1:05:32Speaker 1: moments in history saying whoo whoo Fred's back. Does that
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: mean we will get American emails? Read today? Oh the
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: out of country emails? I read that. I read the
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: good ones that come in. It's like that guy, the
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: guy and American ones are good. No, I read no
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: gyms aren't good. I read the good ones that commit.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: It's like the guy in Norwood, Fred that was originally
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: from the UK. Hey, yeah, Eric doesn't like him, Like,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: why would you ever go from there? To hear? Right? Fred,
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: I can't wait till the next time. You're not here
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: because I'm not hosting. Oh, tough guy, Paul, You guys
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: can fight. Tough guy Paul can sit over there and
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: bring all the energy he wants is up, So take
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: some vacation next week. What tough one? Paul can sit
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: over there, but all the energy he wants. I never
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: dug a hole before, and it's just that hard to
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: rejails and take calls. I'll do it the next time,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: all right, No, no problem that the energy you're looking for.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: That's another great moment from yep, and there it was.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: That's how that's how your boy do. So end it
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: up here because Eric, Eric was out, so he was
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: done with hosting. Paul missed the whole Rejoiner, so he's
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: he's born Eric complaining about not reading international emails and
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: you were giving a little guf for it. You don't
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: have to put any more in there, just Eric complaining,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Eric complaining. I get it. I can only imagine what
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Fred's gonna say to me what I did. Well? Is
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: he listening, you think down in a rub but does
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: he check in? Is he monitor? I hope monitor his
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: World's Original pod podcast. He answered one of my emails,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: so I think he's kind of online doing little work.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: I hope he's just at the beach. I went back
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: and forth with him on text yesterday about something not
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: not show related, but I in the back of my mind,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: I was like, you're in a Ruba, what are you doing?
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: What are you doing? Just to be fair, like if
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: you're just sitting at the beach or at the pool
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: like for like six straight hours like el, so you
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: really doing? Besides, there's nothing else I need to do
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Patriots Unfiltered, Right, I got mid Lice to the left
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: and I got a book. Right. I'm all set. Man.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: We got a big vacation year this year. I mean,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: I know, I'm excited. I'm going amazing. Yeah, now we awesome.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: I'm thinking about going to Malden. It's a it's a
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: big year, big year. And uh, let's grab calling here
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: because he's calling in from Kansas City and just calling.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: I hope you're not calling in from the parade. You
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: didn't go to the parade yesterday, did you? Oh? I
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: want I wanted to give you guys a little conditions
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: on the ground. Yeah, please, um, because I listened to
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: Tuesday's show and I really appreciated the perspective you guys. Um,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: I just want to clarify my experience. Kansas City fans
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: are quick to make the Brady comparison. Flash, the Homes
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: is not born than Brady. Yeah, the phone she's not working.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: I think he's basically saying, Kansas City fans are very
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: much willing to do the thank call. We're gonna let
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: you go. The Mahomes is ready to supplant Tom Brady. Yeah,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: which I mean, I have to be honest, I'd be
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: doing that sure if I was a Kansas City fan.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: I did it. We got I did it with Brady
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: in Montana before he won four Super Bowls. I mean,
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I just I think he's really good, and I mean,
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: they can do whatever they want, but I think he's
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: got so much of his career ahead of them that
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: you don't know how it's going to go. And I
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: think that's the thing that like I think Buffalo is
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: learning this, I think Kansas City has has learned it
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: a little bit. It's when you get to that point
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: like the Patriots were where like you used to say, Paul,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: it's like, we're gonna be in the the AFC, They're
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: gonna be in a conference championship every single year, and
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: it's just a question of a couple of key injuries,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: a couple key plays, and that's what's going to determine
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: how many Super Bowls you kind of get in this
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: little area. And it's really competitive. And I liken it
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: to the first part of the Patriots dynasty, the one
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: three oh four you had Pittsburgh was an absolute powerhouse.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: You had Tennessee with Steve mcnao's the MVP powerhouse. Indianapolis
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: with Peyton Manning powerhouse. That's what you're going through. Now.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: It's Cincinnati, Buffalo, Kansas City. Like you can be really good,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: you could be capable of winning the super Bowl and
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: not even get to the conference championship game because it's
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: really hard. And that's you know, Brady had to go
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: through that gauntlet and he came out every time, every time,
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: three years and three times and four years. It's such
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: a weird place to go to. I mean, it takes
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: some adjustment because we're now back in the place where, hey,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: we made the playoffs. Like Jacksonville, you know, like they're
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: coming off of that season being like, man, what an
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: ending for us? Like we feel great. That's like an
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: uber disappointing season for the Bills, you know, so they're
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: now experiencing, hey, it's not just about making the playoffs
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: next year, and next year Jacksonville will be looking to
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: get better, right or they'll be like Buffalo, Like Buffalo
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: was disappointed as all hell when they lost in the
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Division around with thirteen seconds left and they go to overtime,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: because that was the year after they had gone to
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: the conference championship, so that was technically a step back,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: but I don't step back. But this year was a
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: much bigger step back, even though they lost in the
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: same round, you know, because they weren't even they didn't
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: even have a chance to win at home. Yeah, here
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: Colin's back, a better connection. Hey Colin, Hey, I'm sorry
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: about that. All good? You sound good. Now Here's here's
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: the point I wanted to make. Okay, because you know,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: with the Pats and their run, you know, obviously we
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: compared Brady to Montana. But the difference with this one
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: is that we actually got to see Brady versus Mahomes.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: And so I just feel like it's not being said.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: And maybe I'm just defensive, but if Mahomes get seven,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Brady as a tiebreaker, I mean two of their the
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Chiefs probably could have won two Super Bowls if if
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: it weren't for Brady, if you factor in twenty eighteen
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: and uh Brady with the Bucks anyway, That's all I'm saying. Yeah, okay, um,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: I got an answer. I got an answer to the question.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Is Fred kersh paying attention? Oh? Yes? Checked in the answer.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Unhappy he wants to report and something that he and
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: I absolutely agree on. Don't forget we should also count
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: two thousand and six is another super Bowl for Brady
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: because there's no way they would have lost the Chicago
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: there you go. Where are we at? Eight? Now? We
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: got eight? Um? The only thing I would say about that, Like, Okay,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: So Brady beat Mahomes in the playoffs twice, right, Mahomes
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: beat Brady too in regular season game? Right? He beat him?
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: Did he beat him? Never beat him? Here with the
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Nick Hill Harry thing where he set out of bound, right, Okay,
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: so we're going with So that's that. That's the tiebreaker.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: So is Peyton Manning better than Brady because he beat
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Brady more often than not in the playoffs, like sixty
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: percent of the time he beat Brady in the play
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Like I I don't, I don't do that, Like I
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: think Brady is Yeah, Like I just it's taking don't care.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: So Mahomes this first year as a starter, he goes
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: toe to toe with the greatest player who's ever played
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: and loses an epic fashion without having the opportunity to
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: touch the ball in overtime, And that means that Brady
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: is better than Mahomes like the first Like, I just
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: think it takes all the fun out of it if
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: he goes to if he wins seven Super Bowls, he's
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: going to have better numbers than Brady. Yes, and we're
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: gonna say the tide breaker was when he was first
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: a starter, Brady beat him, So that means he's better.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: I think that that is. Look, I love Tom Brady.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: Tom Brady is the goat. But the one thing that
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: you have to give to Mahomes that he was putting
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: up numbers instantly, right like Mahomes's first season the starter
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: was not two thousand and one for Brady right right,
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Like he's MVP of the league as the first year
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: as the starter. That that's a different, different level I
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: I but ultimately like I just don't care, like I
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: just these arguments to me are just like none of it.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: There's no committee, there's no formula that gets to decide
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: who's actually better than the other guys. One, it's not
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: funny hate people. That's why the whole wins is. I
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: agree with that, Like, wins is not a quarterback stat
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: to me, now, there's something to be said to the
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: guy who wins every time. I get that. But to me,
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: I like, and Fred acts this is something Fred also
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: agrees with me. On when unnecessarily talking a relation to Brady.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: But Joe Montana, why does everybody think he's the best
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: because he won four titles. I'll take John Elway over
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: Joe Montana. John Elway was the most gifted quarterback I
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: ever watched when I was a kid, and no one
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: ever thinks of John Elway as the greatest ever. But
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: he was a combination of incredible athleticism with a rocket
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: arm and just carrying the carcass of a terrible team
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl throughout the eighties and they would
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: get there and they would lose to a vastly superior
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: NFC team because that was the run of NFC dominance
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl. But no one ever says that
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: John Elway is that good because he doesn't have the
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: numbers to back it up the wins. Yeah, what changed?
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: I mean, obviously Terrell Davis and the run game when
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: they finally did get those Super Bowls. But I was
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: I was thinking a little bit, and maybe I'm off base,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: but I was almost comparing how I kind of feel
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: about Josh Allen right now, which is that he's trying
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: to do it all himself and it feels like it's
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: going to be really hard for him to really thread
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: the needle to win a Super Bowl playing like this,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: and and part of me wondered if that maybe relates
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: to what Elway was when he was young and could
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: do everything, but then he got a little bit older
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: and he couldn't do as much. And did do you
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: feel like he played more within himself and more within
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: the team and not trying to do everything himself? Like,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: I don't know, that was something I was just thinking
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: about a comparison. I don't know the answer to it.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: I think the other teams that they played weren't as
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: good as they were when he was trying to do
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: it all. I think he did what was a do
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: it all? He was that good? Yeah, he was that good. Yeah,
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: killing the Patriots. If were you there for that one?
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: I was there. Yikes, that was a season ticket year. Yeah.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: I rememberably pulling the guy behind us down his head
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: into the side of the tunnel. For me, that was
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: one of the first like losses that actually heard happened.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: That was like at that point you felt like the
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Patriots are pretty good now and and a loss can
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: actually hurt me now, Like I remember being like really
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: being pissed about Shannon Sharpe and all that. You know
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: that he was saying on the sidelines, like whereas like
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: four years earlier they were wining like two games and
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: who even really cared? Jump over the back to the
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: phone's Joel Ael, I'm sorry you good? Hey? Yeah? Um so, Paul,
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: you're a question about the super Bowl. I wouldn't pay
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: for the super Bowl just because, um, it just doesn't
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: seem right. It's gonna alienate the fan bases all over
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: and they should probably focus in on expanding or doing
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: something more like that overseas and then bringing that in
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: because you probably alienate them as well. Yeah. I think
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: it's an interesting concept, Alex. Before you joined us, this
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: some talk. Um, I don't know how serious it is
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: about potentially having the Super Bowl go to a pay
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: per view model, like two hundred and fifty dollars to
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: watch the super Bowl reaction you Evan was. Evan was
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: out until he realized that you might be able to
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: get a separate telecast of just the All twenty two,
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: and then he was in. Now he's in for about
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: you know, I'd pay for that where they do the
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: All twenty two on the halftime show two or would
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: that with that? I want to see the All twenty
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: two and then can I like, can I DVR it
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: so that I can scrub through it on my own?
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: That's an extra four. Like it was easily identifiable because
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Rihanna was the one in red, so even at the
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: All twenty the pregnant lady, and you could see which
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: one scared fow why do they want to do that?
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: What's the benefit? Why? Why is that better than what
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: they haven't asked? Why does anyone want to do anything? Money?
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: How can we squeeze? How can we squeeze more out?
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: So if you have like one hundred and ten million
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: people watching the Super Bowl and you get you know,
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: half of those at two hundred and fifty a pop,
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: you can see the money you could make. Now, I
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: don't know if that's anything that would ever happen, And
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: I don't know. I think it's easy to sit there
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: and say like I wouldn't get that. I don't think
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: I would. I really don't. But I don't know if
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: every you know, like, what what do you do on
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: Super Bowl Sunday? Everybody else is watching the game. You're
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: not gonna watch it? You know, you'd probably figure out
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: like no, no, no, you get it, you get it.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Everybody comes over, everybody kicks in ten counter programming. You know,
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: you just try to something else at that time. L
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: I don't know. I like how it's just basic cable
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: accessible to everyone. It's a bad I mean, wouldn't change
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: a bad look, but you would have to get rid
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: of that commercials. Well, everyone around the world watch what
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Greg Hill said. He goes, well, if you if you're
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: making me do that, you better get rid of them.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: But the commercials is part of the experience super Bowl, right,
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: and it's like, what do you do in all the breaks.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I don't know. If you lost all the revenue from
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: the from the ads, then it's a wash too, because
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: now you're just getting it back with subs, right, you know.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: I like the commercials. So one time I like the commercials.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: I think they'd run into a lot more people pirate
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: streams and they'd think, yeah, oh sure, uh jump over
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: to the emails. And I just want to say, Evan
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: and An Alex we'll be doing all twenty two. So
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: all these emails that we're getting to yell at Evan
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: about his U dislike a certain Quentin Johnson receivers, M
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: I'll leave those for you to go through. You can,
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: you can, we can read one? Oh is that after
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: coming up right away? After well one of these we
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: got Cole from Eugenie Ogun. He was already ready, he
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: was eleven thirty, he was already emailing before the show
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: based on last show. So oh, I'll leave that. I'll
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: leave that one. But Russell in Arkansas writes in on
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: the topic of receivers, everyone has talked about adding either
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Hopkins or Higgins in the offseason. What are your thoughts
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: on adding a guy like Juju Smith, Schuster, McCole, Hartman
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: or DJ Chark all potential free agents and definite upgrades
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: over Agalore maybe Parker definite upgrades. And also he's mentioning
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: the report from from the guy from Paul Show, Jimmie
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: James Stewart saying that the Patriots have been sniffing around,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: sniffing around Samuel. I don't know what that means exactly,
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: any any comment on that's nothing? First of all, Juju Smith, Schuster,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: DJ Chark, and who's the other one better upgrade? I
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: just deleted it on maybe on TikTok and clean your
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: trash full day. I mean, we're specifically, you don't think
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: they're better than Agalore, better than what they've gotten out
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: of Agalore. Sure better than what Aglar was supposed to
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: be when they signed him two years ago. I think
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Gagalore had one good season in his entire career and
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: Mike Mike do So did a deep dive on it.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: Found out there were a lot of flukey plays off
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: scripts that Derek Carr broke containment and threw bombs to him.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: He had a good Super Bowl against US Ish. I
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: was watching that game the other day and the numbers
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: are there. There's some huge, huge drops in that game
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: for him. They didn't like him very much in Philly.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: They hated him in Philly. But no, no, just we
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: gotta aim higher, folks. We gotta aim higher than than
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: DJ Shark and tick mister TikTok, Like, we gotta aim
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: higher than those guys, all right, we gotta is that
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: a little Antonio Brown a J. Brown, Well, no, Juju
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: was talking snack on Twitter and kind of made himself
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: look like a fool. That was he is a fool,
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: the one I was a b That's Antonio Brown, isn't it?
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Isn't it? J. Brown clap A J. Brown Okay, I
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: did not see that. I mean he is TikTok boy.
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: It's very accurate. But yeah, they went back and forth
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: on him about he he posted Juju posted a Valentine's
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Day card James Bradberry's face on it. That's saying, you know,
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: I'll hold you tight. Yeah, we'll get that in post. Yeah,
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: I'll hold you when it matters most James. That's that's
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: really right. So the Eagles players obviously came to brad
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: Berry's defense, especially the way Brad Burready handled that. He
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: didn't deserve that out. No, but back to the email,
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: I'm not gonna be able to do my juju uh
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: combine post this year? Then, is that what you're telling him?
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I no, No, it was a gold mine last year.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Uh well, along those lines, Anthony, he writes in he's
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: got some some based on each group, what would you do? So?
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Option this is question one. You got three options. The
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: first one is trade draft assets third round pick this
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: year in a future second for Jerry Judy. Option two,
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: use the fourteenth pick on the best available wide receiver
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: Jordan Addison or from USC or Quentin Johnson. You know,
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: having fields resign, resign Jacoby Myers, and try to find
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: a sleeper in the third or fourth rount. I'm gonna
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: say mid, I'm gonna say number two. But I'm with
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: Evan on on Johnston. So I would personally, I would
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: like to see them trade for a veteran receiver. We're
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: going to talk about this on Catch twenty two, so
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: I don't want to give the whole take, but good
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: I would prefer for them to try to trade for
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: a veteran receiver, whatever combination of picks there that ends
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: up being than whatever it takes. It takes, But that's
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: what I would like to see them do because quite frankly,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: I've just lost all faith in them drafting one and
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: developing one. That's the easiest route, that's the cheapest route,
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: that's the best route for the for the franchise in
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: terms of, you know, just asset allocation. But until they
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: prove otherwise otherwise that they can actually go out draft,
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: hit on the draft pick, develop that player and produced
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: a good talent at receiver, I can't count on that, Yeah, Judy,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: I mean I also saw um that I guess Hawkins
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: because of a suspension. I saw today his no trade clause.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: I don't really know why that why is that relevant?
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: I guess that way that Nickossario could just ship them
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: here without having to get his signed off in Arizona.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: Oh sorry, what am I doing? Am I doing? Um?
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: I mean I guess people the other there was another Patriot.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: Let's just because another Patriots guy in Arizona them, Yes
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: there is. But my guess is if Arizona, I mean,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: if Hopkins gets traded to the Patriots and now he
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: doesn't never say my guesses of people saying if he
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: still had the no trade, he would balk at a
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: trade to the Patriots because of Billio, right, right, So
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: that's the theory. Do you want him to get force
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: fed traded to the Patriots when he doesn't want to
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: come here. I'm actually like, to me, that's a worse
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: situation if he had the no trade and he waved it.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: At least now I know what I'm getting. I'm not
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: in love with DeAndre Hopkins because of his age. I
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: just know. I know that's I would think I would
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: prefer for them to be trading for guys like Judy,
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: like Higgins who are twenty five, twenty six coming into
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: their primes. But I actually don't think that Hopkins's relationship
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: with Billio is going to be that big of a
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: detriment to the Patriots being able to acquire DeAndre Hopkins
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: in a trade. At the end of the day, I
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: think one Belichick and Hopkins have a little bit of
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: a thing going on there that I think would would
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: maybe circumvent that a little bit. And too, if you
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: pay him the most money, he's gonna come. Well, yeah,
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: if you pay like I get an argument with my
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: boy about that all the time too, because he thinks
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: that I overrate that stuff. But yeah, if you pay
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: him the most money, you can get anybody you want.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: If you pay the most money, there's going to be
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: one percent of the guys out there to say, no,
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: that's not the right fit for me. I'm going to
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: take less to go somewhere that's better for me. The
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: guys will take the most money, right, So that just
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: makes you like everybody else. It used to not be
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: that way. You didn't have to rely on paying more
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: than everybody else to get guys. I'll never forget Matthew
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: Judon's very first press conference as a Patriot. It was
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: a video conference because it's during COVID but his very
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: first press conference as a Patriot, somebody asked him, why
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: did you sign with the Patriots? And he said, they
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: offered me the most money yea, and which is point
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: blank they offered Kendrick Boyen said the same thing, and
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: at the end of the day, Matthew Judons ended up
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: being a really good Patriot and it's worked out, yeah,
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: very well. Absolutely. It's it's not necessarily an indictment of
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: the signing, but that's how you have to sign players now,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: just like everybody honesty with him. I wanted to get
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: back to the thing that we threw out there before
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: the break. I've been thinking about this a lot. I
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: wanted to give you some time to think about it
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: because I agree with evans take on there are certain
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: receivers that haven't necessarily been great fits um in New England.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: You know, Randy Moss being an enormous exception. Do you
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: think that's an indicative, like indicative at all of the
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: need to change a little bit of what they do offensively?
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: I think if that guy if Quintin Johnson, it's Quintin Johnson, right,
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: if he comes into the league with Pittsburgh as you
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: used as a hypothetical and rips it up. But you
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: don't think that he would do that with the Patriots?
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: Isn't that a problem? I think it's slightly a problem.
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: I think that you could probably say that about some
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: other places though, where like they have a type, right,
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: and whether it's receivers, corners, like whatever position it is,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: like you're not going to draft three four nos tack
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: to play in in a four three one gap system, right, Like,
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: that's so everybody has a type. I think with guys
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: you know you asked me, like, who's the guy that
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: you wouldn't want the Patriots to acquire? I think a
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: lot of guys that have reached that certain line of
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: demarcation where they're just such good football players that I
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: think they'd be good on any team. But if you
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: had asked me in the nice about Justin Jefferson, right,
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: if you if you had asked me, and I think
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: it was he was in the nineteen draft, if I
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: remember correctly about DK Metcalf, I would have been worried
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: about a guy like DK Metcalf them being able to
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: coach him up and get the most out of him.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: Now that he's DK Metcalf, I would say, yeah, obviously,
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: if DK Metcalf came here, he'd still be a great
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: player because he's he's figured it out in the league. Elsewhere,
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: Treylon Burks in Tennessee want nothing to do with that
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: type of player, nothing to do with it. I would
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: have taken remember what I liked. I sorry, I'm sorry,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: I just don't And I think that Treylon Burke's his
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: game at Arkansas in the s CC was better than
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: nikkil Harry's game in the PAC twelve because he was
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: outrunning guys in the SEC and not outrunning guys at
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: in the PAC twelve. So there's a difference there. But
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: I just have no confidence whatsoever at the Patriots would
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: take Treylon Burke's refine his skill set to make him
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: a well rounded player so that he could be a
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: thousand yard receiver in their offense. I just don't think
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: they could do it. It's a really good philosophical question
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: because because there's the kind of stuff I like, and
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: it's so hard because receivers are so flashy and such,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: and it's like it's so hard to say, look at
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: an NFL receiver and who's awesome and say, but he
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: wouldn't be awesome here, you know, and you know, when
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: not doing we're not saying, well, player X has seventeen
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: more receptions than player why so he's the better player. No,
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: there's a lot of like nuance that goes into why
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: certain guys were successful in certain situations. And I think
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: that's right now. My pushback with the Patriots is, you know, like,
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: you know, certain teams have a type. I think that
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: you'd be hard pressed to tell me, like what exactly
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: is the type of Patriot receiver that comes in as
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: a rookie and thrives Jacoby Myers? Okay? And and I'm
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: not saying that that's like some great no, no, no,
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: I think that that would be an example of a
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: like if Quentin Johnson has a Jacoby Myers season as
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: a rookie, people would say, wow, what a great rookie
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: seventy eight catches, right, what a great rookie season. That's
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: my whole thing is that in the draft, I like,
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: that's a hit. Let's find a more explosive Jacoby Myers
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: because we know that Jacoby Myers his general skill set translate.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: My my pushback would be they've looked for that a
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: lot who's with Patriots have with whom like Braxton Barrios,
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: but Jeremy Eberts. But now we're talking Jeremy Gallen. But
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: now we're talking about late day three guys, like I'm
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: talking about taking the kid Devin Lucien, like Jacoby Monas
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: is a late day three guys, right, But I'm talking
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: about taking like top prospect Jacoby Myers. So as in
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: somebody like Jordan Addison from USC who is a top
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: fifty player, explosive, great route runner, has a lot of
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: the same like nuanced traits that Jacoby has, but he's
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: also going to run a four, three, five, right, So
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: like that that's the guy that I'm looking at in
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: this draft. And why when I made my list today
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: the first three guys were more inside receivers Zay Flowers, right,
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and Jig but Jordan Addison, because these guys
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: are Jacoby with gears, right, Like that's the difference. Way
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: we brought the conversation while I was stuffing my fat
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: face during the break was that do you think and
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: Evan clearly doesn't because you just rattled off three really
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: good prospects that would fit that mold to keep it
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: that way. I think it's indicative that the offense needs
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: to change a little bit so that DK Metcalf doesn't
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: get mocked and ridiculed by guys like Mike Lombardi who say,
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: anybody who thinks DK Metcalf is a better player than
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: Kennel Harry and yes, Kenneil was what he said is
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: an idiot. That's a quote from a guy who was
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: in the organization. That's what they think. I think something
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: needs to change so I can take guys like Traylon
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: Burkes and I can say, yeah, I haven't really had
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: a lot of those guys in my offense, but this
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: guy can play. It doesn't have to be that particular guy.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: I'm talking about a skill set coming out of school.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: If it's Quinton Johnson, now I don't know if he's
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: that special. I don't, you know, I don't. I don't
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: know much more about him than what I watched, you know,
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: down the stretch the Big Twelve Championship and then the
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: College Football playoffs. He is a big player machine. Like
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: what he's good at, he's very very good at average.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: But so we need to find a way to get
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: an offense that can cater to that skill set well,
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: and not just guys in the slot well, and but
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: just to look through it through the prism of the
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: guys they actually have, Like how much crossover do you
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: see if we had Quentin Johnson, DeVante Parker and take
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: Kwon Thornton And I know, like I'm not trying to
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: say that those guys are great, but where does the crossover?
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: You know? Like, I just think that there's also an
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: element of of of trying to build a versatile attack
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: that can attack all parts of the field, that we
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: have guys that can stretch horizontally, that we have guys
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: that can get deep, you know, Like I mean, I
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: just think of Thornton, like, isn't what Quentin Johnson would
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: come in and do. Isn't that what you kind of
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: hope that Thornton could do? And I'm not I'm not
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: saying I got obviously with Johnson's a more physical specimen,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: right he's six four two ten, But I think with
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: Johnston and Alex just walked in and I'm going to
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: bring up his his guy, Max Duggan, the quarterback kicking
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: the quarterback at TCU can run around a little bit, right,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: So a lot of the bombs to Quentin Johnston, were
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: extended or extended plays where Duggan's running around a little bit,
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: throws off platform and hits him down the field. Your
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: guy's not doing that. So if you look at big
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: playing receivers across the league, it doesn't have to just
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: be this example, like just Tyreek Hill, like any of
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: these guys, a lot of their big plays down the field.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: Come on these broken all the way. Then let's keep
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: taking this. Okay, I love this offseason show. It's just
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: nothing but nonsense. Fine, you know when's Hendon Hooker getting
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: getting drafted? Yeah, gonna have a red shirt year coming
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: off at twenty Yes, and he's already a little bit older,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: fourth round like probably a third or fourth round guy.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Is worth? Is it worth rolling the dice to say
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: in twenty four he could be my quarterback that might
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: be able to make some of these plays. To Jalen Hyatt,
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: who you always say is just wide open fifty yards field,
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: and you're right, I've seen enough Tennessee. I know you're not. Yeah,
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: but that's what he did in college. He has the
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: arm and he had the legs to buy time to
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: get those plays, whereas mac Jones doesn't have either. In
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: my opinion, I've been I've been in on the let's
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: take the two was the quarterback, Like, I don't hate
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: that idea. I think Henn and Hooker, if he if
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: everything clears out medically in the at the combine and
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: pro days and top thirties and all that kind of stuff,
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: might be it. I think he's gonna be a top
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: one hundred guy. And that might be a little bit
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: too early because I think ideally you draft in this
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: top one hundred to help out what you already have
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: and try to build up what you already have. So
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: I'm not sure if that's necessarily the best use of
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: their that asset. But if he slips into the fourth round,
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: and now it's a different conversation. You know, we've talked
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: a little bit about DTR from UCLA, who they coach
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: at the Shrine Bowl. He's a little bit smaller but
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: has that mobility. Is kind of like a hurt type
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: of prospect. I like Hooker better, but that's what I'm
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: Hooker's hookers starting from a higher ceiling. With his passing game,
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: he's he's more advanced than DTR is as a thrower.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: I don't hate the idea of doing that at all.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: I think ta Aidan O'Connell in like the fifth round,
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: what about Anthony Richardson in the first Well, I say
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: I wouldn't take one. I agree with Evan about you
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: need to find play. Like I'm still not happy they
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: took Garoppolo in the second round in fourteen, and obviously
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: they picked a guy who absolutely had the ability to
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: play in the league. But I think that fourteen team
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: could have used guys that could help them in fifteen.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: At fourteen fifteen six and now I know it's stupid
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: because the idiot they won the Super Bowl. Doesn't mean
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: that you couldn't have been better, you know, It doesn't
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: mean you couldn't have benefited from another guy. That you
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: didn't really benefit from having Jimmy Garoppolo on your team, right,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: And that you buy into it pushed breeding, right, Well,
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: I do buy into that, to be honest, Alex, that's
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: a good point. I do buy into that. I think
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: that it did push him a little bit. But you
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: know what my larger point is, and I'm I think
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: I'm with Evan on that. Like I like the idea
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: of a Richardson or a Hooker, but I don't know
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: at what called. I think that that's one of the
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: you know, you start to get mock drafts, and you know,
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: the Philip Perry's of the world, the Evans of the world.
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: People start to turn out this content, and you start
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: to see themes within all these mock drafts. That's another
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: point that Bidard's made, and I agree with the point
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: that a TOOLSI mid round developmental mac Jones insurance he's
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: waiting in the wings if we need him. He has
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: some talent to work with. Like I think everybody's kind
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: of on that page. I just don't think anyone's willing
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: percentage give me a percentage of how many p mac
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: Jones has his fifth year option picked up. So this
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: time next year we're having a show. Yeah, and after
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: we talk about soap with a slot, we're asking is
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: me walking into telephone poles outside? Are we saying? So,
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: I don't know, what, do you think the deadline's coming up?
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: They're gonna have to make a decision. Are they going
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: to pick up his eye? So I think what's really
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: fascinating about this is that I think Bill O'Brien's gonna
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: make him look pretty good to the point where you
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: almost are going to have to ask yourself like, is
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: this like is he just truly a system quarterback? Not
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: like what people say about Brady, but like when the
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: things around him are decent, that he can he can
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: carry you to ten wins because you know he's got
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: everything pointed in the right direction for him. Or is
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: there another level for mac Jones? And I think they're
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: gonna have to almost parse it and take him out
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: of Oh, I have a real offensive coordinator. Now, maybe
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: they upgrade some of the weapons and things like that
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: and decide fully is this actually him or are we
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: just this because we're a well coached team now, Yeah,
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: and they'll they'll have obviously a lot more information on
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: that than we will. But I even think we're not
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: idiots like you could certainly say that you could be
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: an immature baby like some on Twitter Matt Chatham and say,
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes, you know, not impressive. Why are we going
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: gaga over these two throws to wide open receivers that
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: were completely obviously schemed up? Because I have two eyes
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: and I watched the rest of the game, Matt and
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: I and I understood that they got down inside the
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: five yard line on those two drives because not just
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: because of everything else, you know, throughout the game, like
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: they had a punt return and they had a defensive score. Yeah,
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: and they have. They also had seventy five yard drives
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: that were engineered by Patrick Mahone's making plays, not just
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: throwing to schemed up guys. You'll know that, you're like,
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: you don't like how much does Mac Jones do? You'll
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: you'll have an idea, I just of that you don't
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: want to get caught into a situation where you have
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: Derek Carr, Kirk Cousins, Jimmy Garoppolo, and that that's sort
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: of your ceiling at that position. So I would be
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: wary of the future there right now. I would say
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: less than twenty five percent. If you're asking me today,
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: I'd say that's a less than I mean, I agree,
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: And you see those you just named off, those quarterbacks,
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: all those guys have come into like difficult getting them
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: out of their situations. Like they gave them money, but
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: they you know, like you just get kind of stuck
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: in the middle of the reluctant extensions or you're like,
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: I don't have a better option, and it is and
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: that's what I wonder is into Paul's point, are they
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: going to get to the end of four years and say,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: thank you very much, we can probably get this out
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: of somebody else, you know, if not somebody that they
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: say drafted, is that what the plan is to do it?
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: They didn't up his option. He's now a free agent.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: What is the increase like in salary for that because
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: he goes from like a rookie to like from likeeen
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: or something. Yeah, I think there's also the argument it
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: just it's not just Josh Allen at this point of
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: the tools the first round quarterbacks that have worked out,
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: like we're on a we're getting pretty deep on the
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: list now of I mean, I think Patrick Mahomes fits
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: that mold where at Texas Tech he was not this good, right,
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: and he also wasn't somebody that was super polished coming
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: into He sat for an entire year because of that,
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: and now he's the best player in the world. So
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: it's Alan, it's Mahomes, it's Herbert Like a lot of
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: these guys are now starting to hit Lamar right, So
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: hurts like it's a new day and age at that position.
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: It's another one that's sort of you know, starting to
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: ruffle my feathers. You know they should use the Philadelphia
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: model perfect. Why didn't I think of that? Get all
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: this talent and and listen, I'm all for it. But
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: like they're like they they did. They weren't sure about
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts and they got all this talent. Yeah, they
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: absolutely were not sure about Jalen Hurts this time last year.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: They made that big move to get themselves a top
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: ten potential draft pick because they wanted to have the
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: ability to be back in the quarterback market if they
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: needed to be. They weren't sure on him, But then
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: you watch what he did. Now? Is he that good
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: every year? I don't know. But do you think that
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: Mac Jones will ever every year the way that Joe
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts just did a top five finishing MVP Super
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: Bowl appearance, right, he was second in the MVP. It's
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: a fair question. I don't know. I don't think he'll
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: ever have a year like that. I don't care what
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: kind of talent is around him. I don't really see it.
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: But I think, you know the point that we've made
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: is that this year it's going to be about, like
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: Evans said, They're gonna put him in position to be successful.
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: The question is how good can he be? And I
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: think for a lot of fans and myself included, it
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: goes back to what I said about Brady. You know,
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: can he get into those situations where it's a back
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: and forth game and he executes a drive? You know,
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: maybe when they've been up against it all game they
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: really haven't been able to consistently move the ball, but
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: one of all on the line, can he you know,
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: pull it out? And I don't know. I just I
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: just hope to your point, Paul, that they do enough
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: this year that we feel like we're getting an accurate
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: assessment with mac Jones. I don't want to go into
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: next year and say, yeah, he was fine, but they
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: really didn't have much around him, and they really need
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: to put somebody with him to really know what you got.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: Like I just I think you got to know what
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: you got with mac Jones after this year. So I
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: got one more facilitation for you. It might bring it
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: up to my buddy fellow Greenberg over here, right, Okay,
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: I'll throw another bomb into the middle of the table
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: and let you guys give me the percentage percentages that
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: Mac Jones is not the starting quarterback at the end
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: of this year. No, no, no, this year, this year
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: going in that there's a whole offseason that hasn't even
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: started yet, right, I don't totally March fourteen. I mean,
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: it's probably the answer you're looking when I'm I don't
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: tell when I'm watching March Madness and you guys are
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: writing all the updates. When's that, Yeah, mid March fifty.
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: So what do you think there's even a chance. I mean,
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: I guess my question would be to set it up
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: a little bit better, is what's our route into it?
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: Do they go out and acquire, say a Derek Carr
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: or like a veteran quarterback to compete with him, and
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: then he loses. I don't think you're requiring Derek car
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: or Jimmy Garoppolo to compete with him. You're you're acquiring
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: them because you don't think that he's good. Both those
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: guys are the Spider Man name to Mac Jones, like
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: we're staring in the mirror. If Derek Carror, Jimmy Garoppolo,
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: thank you for man splaining that cream, thank you. This
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: is not now. But if he's not the quarterback, who
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: do you think would be I mean, I'm not saying
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: specific guy, but a guy like that, and I would
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: put it at less than ten percent. I would, But
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: I'm just I'm doing the Greenberg thing. I'm facilitating. No
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: I like it, And that's why I brought up the
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: Anthony Richardson thing. And I can't like deny that while
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: I'm you know, doing mock drafts and studying stuff, and
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: you know, just comparing this pick fourteenth overall, they were
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: fifteenth overall when they took Mac. There are certainly some questions.
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: I mean, Mac has just seemed at the time like
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: the easy He's not. He's got a very high floor,
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: you know, and it's at what point do you say
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: that's great? But like, if you're going to really take
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: a swing to compete with these teams, you need to
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: take a swing at fifteen fourteen on a guy like Richardson,
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: who at least you can say, has this ceiling that
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: could potentially get you there. I think we're all having
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: the feeling now of ken Mac get us there, and
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think anybody's ready to pound the
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: table and I don't. I don't know the answer to either,
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: and I know that it probably comes off. I'm completely
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: convinced that he's out, and I'm not. I just I
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: don't know about Mac Jones. I'm probably not as high
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: on Mac Jones as most, but I'm I don't know
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: that for sure. Like there's no denying that he was
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: sabotage last year, Like he was not giving a given
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: a fair shot with the coaching situation that he was standed.
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: That's to me, that's fact. That's not really an opinion.
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: And there's a lot on him this year. I think,
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: I mean, it's just you know, I mean, could go
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: back to his workout videos, like re earning everyone's trust,
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: you know, one of the things like I think, I
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: think it's the videos I could do. I think someone
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: and this is a separate thing that maybe someone like
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: Alex could speak to, like, I don't think you're doing
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: your clients a service by putting crap like that out.
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: I really don't. The only video that I think would
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: be doing him a positive a pro is if that
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: video is with Tom House, if that video is with
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: Tom House or Jordan Palmer, Quincy Avery and one of
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: these quarterback rous and they're working on tapping his mechanics
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: so that his velocity improves. That's I don't care about
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: him being in the gym. I don't care about him.
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: I'm an idiot operate unders work out right, And I'm
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: not saying I'm not saying he's not worth those quarterback
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: coaches by the way. I'm just saying that's who I
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: want him with is I want him with Tom House.
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: I want him with Jordan Palmer, one of those guys
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: to try to get every ounce of velocity that his
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: physical that his body can possibly produce on the throw
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: out of that. And I think you can develop that,
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: like you know, I think Brady Breeze like guys have
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: developed more velocity as their career wears on. But I
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: don't want to come across as thinking that, Matt. You know,
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: I'm pro MAC for the most part. I just think
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: that there's I still think that there's that thing with
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: the Patriots too, where they're gonna want the rookie contracts.
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: Like I don't think paying Derek Carr like thirty five
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: million dollars a year is something that they really interested
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: in doing. But I don't even think that paying Lamar
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: Jackson fifty million years a million dollars a year or
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: something that they want to do. I think they want
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: to do it this way with a cheaper quarterback. And
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: that's why I low. I think, Yeah, bottom line, it
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: comes back to I can have him at four million, right,
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: I could have this guy yet, I mean even if
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: you've got Derek Carr at like twenty five million, right,
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: you know, because he's pretty Yeah, you don't know him anything.
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: Here's a he's a pretty good little email kind of
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: feeding into what we're talking about right now from Mitch
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: from Albany. I want to get your guys in Gal's
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: opinion on something. Who do you think was put in
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: worse scenario? Cam Newton with a whole no off season,
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: no weapons, Demerberg and covid plus all the offensive terms
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: being changed on him. I don't know about that, or
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: Mac with the complete incompetence at the coaching position having
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: little to no help. Second, I think it was very
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: similar those two things, because he's right, like they didn't
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: have a lot of talent, they had no off season
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: and all that. Oh that's true, now they had he
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: had better coaching, But also who, like what does it matter?
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: Like Alreay trying to say that, like we didn't cover
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: Cam Newton, like with the same oh yeah, we killed
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: Cam Newton and would give it optimism that because I
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: think that's the take, right, You're not in my timeline
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: that I assume that's the take. Is that the take
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: is so we killed Cam Newton and everybody gives Mac
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: a pass. And I actually don't think that that's at
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: least I can only speak for myself, but I think
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: a lot of us gave Cam Newton a chance. In
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: the beginning of the year. I think a lot of
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: us gave him a chance. I think a lot of
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: us saw as camp or on what exactly they could
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: maybe do that Week one against Miami when they he
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: ran all over the Dolphins, like that's the only thing
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: he could do, right, was running. Anytime it devolved into
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: passing done. But we, at least I don't think that
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: that's fair to say. I'm not saying everybody. I'm sure
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: there were people on certain radio stations and things like
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: that that we're not giving him a chance. But we
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: just called a spade a spade. Like once he started
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: to get into the year and he was playing every
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: single week and the passing game was what it was
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: with him at quarterback, we were just honest about what
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: we were seeing. It was bad. There's nothing else to say.
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: I was critical of Cam and I'm just critical of
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: Mac like I feel like I treated them both the same. Yeah,
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: I remember with Cam it just felt like it took
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: it took him a while the process, Like right out
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: of the gate. I just felt like he would he
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: would see it too late and try to overcompensate by
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: putting way too much mustard on the ball, you know,
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: And that just seemed to bear itself out. But he
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: could run. He absolutely made plays how and he made
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: plays all year with his legs like he was almost
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: on funny like you only buffalo fumbly. But I mean
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: the only time he ever really got stopped that one
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: Seattle with the game on the line. Yep, no calls here.
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: Uh yeah, Geane from Ottawa way and and she uh.
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: For fifteen years ago, the CFLs Gray Cup went to
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: pay cable and after after having been carried on either
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: of the two national broadcasters, that's when I stopped paying
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: attention to the CFL. So Gene and Canada wah and
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: yah gee. The only thing I'm saying is I'm not
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: talking about pay cable like a lot of people like,
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: you have the option to get cable. A lot of
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: people have cable TV, So it's no longer on ABC,
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: It's now just on ESPN. That's not what we're talking about.
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: I don't care if you have pay cable. I don't
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: care if you have every streaming service there is. I
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: don't care if you have you know, any other direct TV.
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: You can only get this by ordering pay per view
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: for one event for two hundred and fifty dollars. Like
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: that's that's different than the Gray Cup going. It's like
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: to fight. It's like a prize fight, right, yeah, ding
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: ding A little game here from Tyler from Providence, And unfortunately,
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: I don't know how much the rest of us are
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: gonna be able to participate because these are some older
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: players that he is looking to have. Don't hate, what's
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: that ran? Don't hate? He says. I'm thirty years old
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: and since this I became a dedicated football fan. I've
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: been lucky enough to see an arrow with some of
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: the best football players of all time. My youth was
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: Phili with Brady, Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson, Grunt, J. J.
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: Watt Reeves, et cetera. I never got to see some
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: of the iconic players from the pre y two K
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: play other than in high right highlight reels. I've included
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: groups of three players that played most mostly before two
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: thousand and was hoping you could rank the players on
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: how dominant they were in the air they played. So
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: this this will be an experiment, Paul, I don't know,
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: this might even go beyond you. Um, he's got a
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: bunch of tiers here, but some interesting players at least
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: to highlight Fran Tarkington, Randall Cunningham, Steve Young, who were
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: the best players out of that just how dominant they were,
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: and ranking those those three, I mean, I can't really
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: speak to fran Tarkington. I thought that fran Tarkin had
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: the best career of those three, But there's nobody more
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: dominant for a short period of time than Randal cutting him,
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: Randam cutting him was awesome. Yeah. Athletes, Steve Young, Lefty Mobile. Yeah.
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: In the Hall of Fame, uh second ones. A group
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: of running backs, Earl Campbell, bo Jackson, Jim Brown who
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: going back? I mean bo Jackson. Bo Jackson's the greatest
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: athlete I've ever seen, unstoppable, giant, Andy's favorite and despite that,
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: I still have to give him his due. U Lyn Swan,
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: Chris Carter, Michael Irvin. Nobody more overrated than Lyn Swan,
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: So not Lyn Swan. Chris Carter would be my choice
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: your Steelers. The Chris Carter one of the few Steelers
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: on that team that probably wasn't on steroids. Michael Irvin
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: showing up to practice after like all night benders. I
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: mean he was. He was a special cat too. Liked
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: him in the Longest Yard though the remake of course,
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: of course, yeah, she wasn't alive in the seventies. Ben Coates,
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: Mike Ditka, Shannon Sharp, I've already talked about. I don't
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: think Dickett belongs in the same categories. It's hard to
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: compare guys from those grossly different eras. But Ben Coates was,
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: you know, the much better. You know how people say
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: Gronk is better than Kelsey. Ben Coates was better than
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: Shannon Sharp for that reason. Shannon Sharp was a better
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: receiver an athlete, but he didn't do the things that
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: be Coach did. Yeah, Kelsey's a tool bad I'm just
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: talking about as a player, though. Do they see this
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: stuff from him at the parade? I did. Nobody thought
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: the Chiefs were going to make the players like Rodney
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: Harrison William to Guinness Dust. I feel like it was worse.
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: I just saw the ownership group, who I don't have
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: any left, but one of them dressed up like Krouella
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: de Ville. Like, I'm like, really, like, do you have
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: to dress the part of just like an evil rich villain?
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: Like I've never ever met anybody who despises the team
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: because of their ownership groups. Whenever I see Gracie Hunt
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: on Instagram, Like, all right, just like everything's been hinted,
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: I would have to know who Gracie Hunt is to
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: know where she's a daughter. I'm mentioned beautiful and I'm
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: gonna own the team someday. Suck it. Yeah, all right,
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: let's do one more. Reggie White, Jack young Blood and
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: Richard Dent White. I mean he was a hump move
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, right, I Mean, that's tough memories for
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: that one. We're winding it down here, Ryan in New York.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: Let's let's get one last call in here. Hey, Ryan,
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: what's going on? Hey? I just wanted your guys opinion.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: After years of relatively consistent special teams, this most recent
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: year was kind of abysmal. In some aspects. I wanted
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: you guys' take on do you think it's worth it
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: to use a seven on that punter out of Wingate
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: or maybe even the kicker out of Michigan, or if
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: you think we have problems more at the coaching level. Yeah,
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: thanks Ryan. Uh. I mean, I don't even know if
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: the I mean, I certainly the punter was a problem
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: last year with Jake Bailey getting hurt and having issues,
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: But I mean I see it as a bigger, a
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: bigger thing, right, Like I mean, I think it's more
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: about like tackling guys. It's not so much like special
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: teams or a problem. I don't you got a good returner.
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: I mean, you know, the returning is pretty good. I
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: don't care about I don't know about Nick Folk what
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: he's got left. But I think they've got to figure
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: out Jake Bailey. You just gave him a new contract.
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: He didn't you know, he ended the year injured and suspended.
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: Can they mend that fence? Can he get back to
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: the level of play that that he's used to be
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: very hurt, very very hurt. Um. But I mean I
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: could see both those positions. But I mean, again, I
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: think a little bit the pause point. I mean, you
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: lost you know, you got rid of a lot of
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: these veterans special teamers last year. You got rid of
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Brandon King, you got you know, Cody Davis went down,
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, you've got you know, new guys,
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: new undrafted rookie. So you know, my question is is
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: you know the guys like DeMarcus Mitchell who played a
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: bunch like you know, next year, is he able to
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: Those guys were great all right, school Schooler and Mitchell
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: Cooler was good, but the teams were and the year
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: before when all those veterans were there, they sucked on
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: special teams too. Like they have eleven draft picks. So
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit here and kill him, you know,
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: on that Saturday or the day three of the draft
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: when they draft a kicker or punter, I'm not going
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: to kill him for it. I'd rather not. I think
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: you can get players with draft picks, and you can
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: sign kickers as as undrafted free agents. But did they
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: need a punter? Yeah, like that's an issue. They're gonna
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: need a kicker at some point. They got's thirty eight.
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: He's not gonna kick forever and they took Warwash in
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: the fifth right, Yeah, so the fifth round is usually
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: their sweet spot. They don't currently have a fifth round pick,
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: but they have four six and three fours, so there's
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: like ways to fill the put a gun right inside
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: my mouth and just let fly around four sixth round picks.
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: We're gonna be sitting here. I'm knowing that has to
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: do the deep dive on their life after. But you
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: like that if the four six rounders, there's like three sentences.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: If they take the punter from Oklahoma, then just watch
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: out for that one. Oh well, we have some off
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: the field issues. Yeah, oh is he's can't be as
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: bad as the kicker they took in the fifth round.
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: We're gonna have to cover up tattoos. Again, it depends
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: on what like on where like you fall in the
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: political spectrum, I suppose, but oh I don't made If
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: he's a mega guy, that's one thing. But but like
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: worldwasser of much worse than politics, right, yeah, And I'm
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: not telling you that that's what I never spoke to.
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: I know we got to talk to him, but he
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: had that tattoo that everybody said that that was not
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: like you know political. Yeah, Jake Moody, the kicker from
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: Michigan that we were talking about earlier. He's gonna go
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: earlier than the seventh round. Like he's he's flirting with
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: the fourth right, like he's gonna be like one of
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: those big Day three guys for his kicker off the
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: board type player. Here's here's my my feeling in a nutshell. Okay,
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: so you took Stephen Gastowski in the fourth round, right,
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: tremendous career. How different was he than Nick Folk who
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: you signed off the scrap heap in terms of longevity?
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: Is different? No, no, no, I'm just but you can
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: get a guy and he can work out, and if
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: he doesn't work out, you get rid of him and
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: get another guy. Like the differences between the kickers are
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: so small. Unless you Justin Tucker, Unless you have Justin Tucker,
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: he's the one. But I don't know that I'm going
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: to get Justin Tucker until I get him, I don't know,
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: Like I don't know this Moody guys. I'm not saying
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: he's Justin Tucker, but he's got a huge leg. Like
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: this is somebody that could realistically in a game maybe
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: make a sixty yard field goal and so that you know, builds.
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: If I have that, that's a tremendous advantage. I'm not
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: diminishing that. I just feel like, especially with how many
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: field goals they get, know those guys that are in
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: the league, and this is why they tell you, like
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: in fantasy all the time, don't don't stress it over
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: your kicker, like they're all the same. Yeah, I just
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: wonder how they're going to manage folk. And that's you know,
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: a situation like that, where do you want to be
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: kind of left holding the bag if the wheel falls
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: off of the wheel falls off the bus with him
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: next training camp and you're like, he get back and
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: he's like he can't, he can't do it anymore. We
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: got it that, you know. That's why I wouldn't. I'm
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: not going to sit here and kick and scream if
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: they take a kicker. That's why he's thirty eight. It's
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: something I know. It's crazy that we because they haven't
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: really done this very well at other positions. But it's
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: the year too early, you know, it said right to
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: think about it. Maybe they get out in front of that.
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: The punters. I think there's a couple of punters in
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: the draft. The two guys that were at the Senior
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: bowler decent. We watched Michael Turk at the guy that
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: I said had some some off field things. We watched
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: him at the shrine Bulk So yes, uncle uncle, his nephew. Yeah,
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: that would be an interesting story. He's uh, he's really good. Uh,
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: he's got an absolute boomer of a leg. But I
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: just for me, punters are the ones that I definitely
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: think you can sign as ud face like, I think
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: those guys are a diamond dozen kickers. I think you guys,
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: the best kicker is probably gonna get drafted. It right, Yeah,
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: I agree with that. Yes, I am curious that what
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: happens with Bailey and you know, it's it's just such
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: a weird situation. The guy we had as a kicker
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: last year, Visayan No no, no, oh yeah kin so
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: he's he got signed by Dallas, but but he was
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: in training camp last I was trying to think of
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: the guy they had in camp. Just get a guy
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: like that to compete with Folk. Get a guy Jake Moody,
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: Just get a guy all right kind of leg. We're
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: gonna wrap it up. I'm gonna do Fred's style. Wrap
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: it up two minutes early here, so Evan and like
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: Daniel Coulson, Evan and Bath can get on here, so
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: make sure you stay tuned. We got catched on too,
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: coming up next. If you're on video, stay on video.
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: They will Evan and Alex will be there. They will
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: ready more kicker talk, more kicker talk, lots of draft.
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: Make sure get your Quentin Johnson thoughts in. I'm sure
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: Alex will have some some strong opinions about him as well. Otherwise,
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: probably back next week's Don't worry, I'll be out of
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: the host chair and otherwise we'll see you next Tuesday.
