- 1:05Speaker 2: There's a SMU and Florida State play tonight. I want
- 1:09Speaker 2: to say somebody. Somebody. Somebody might've had that game. I
- 1:13Speaker 2: know my units are down. And by the way, that
- 1:15Speaker 2: college football pick-em, I am interested to see how that went. Yeah.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Because again, we're on the app. You can go head-to-head
- 1:22Speaker 2: against us, picking 10 games against the spread on games

- 1:40Speaker 2: You could also be Getting inside of a pot of
- 1:43Speaker 2: up to what? $ 500, 000? $ 500, 000 every week. Yeah. Every single week.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I got to see what all my picks were. Because
- 1:50Speaker 2: I feel like my units are down right now.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like when we did Baylor- Auburn.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I was five pieces.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I was like, well, whoever wins that bet. is going
- 2:02Speaker 1: to be essentially winning this week. Because I stayed pretty
- 2:04Speaker 1: neutral the whole time. I went threes across the board.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Week one can get squirrely. It can make you feel
- 2:08Speaker 1: a little, you make you feel the most confident ever,
- 2:10Speaker 1: but it also can make, you know, you crash and burn.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Knowing I lost five. five units, confidence level five on
- 2:17Speaker 2: Baylor Auburn. I'm like, all right, I'm in a race
- 2:19Speaker 2: situation the rest of the year. Yeah, which is what
- 2:20Speaker 2: you want to be. I'm like, I just need to
- 2:21Speaker 2: go fours. Do my five, hit threes and fours across
- 2:24Speaker 2: the board. It's big unit time now.
- 2:26Speaker 1: You went for a big leap. You missed the jump,
- 2:29Speaker 1: but now it's about taking incremental steps towards greatness.
- 2:31Speaker 2: For sure.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Just small, keep it going, keep the pace between two
- 2:34Speaker 1: and four.
- 2:35Speaker 2: We need two and three. Did I go? I might've
- 2:39Speaker 2: went two and three.
- 2:40Speaker 1: No, I'm saying for like the near future, unless you
- 2:42Speaker 1: just want to take a big stick.
- 2:43Speaker 2: But it's all, it's all, it's all units based. So
- 2:46Speaker 2: even the games that I won, like I'm still, I'm
- 2:48Speaker 2: not feeling the best. I got to see how it
- 2:50Speaker 2: all shakes up. Cause we are kind of measuring by
- 2:52Speaker 2: units this year, but knowing you just take a lump
- 2:54Speaker 2: losing five units, you're, you're down. Yeah. It ain't even
- 2:57Speaker 2: about like, oh, I had a dude, if I went
- 2:59Speaker 2: four and one and you lose five units, like you
- 3:01Speaker 2: ain't coming out feeling good.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I'm with you, brother.
- 3:05Speaker 1: There's a lot of people in college football that are
- 3:06Speaker 1: not feeling good. There's others that are feeling fantastic right now.
- 3:08Speaker 1: The game we were at this weekend, which we'll break
- 3:11Speaker 1: down in the intro about the experience, everything that took place.
- 3:14Speaker 1: But the game itself, LSU and Clemson. LSU was favored
- 3:18Speaker 1: by 10.5 when we spoke about this game at the
- 3:20Speaker 1: locker room with Josh Pate. It was an LSU cover
- 3:25Speaker 1: from the moment the game started. It was an ass-beating.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It was an ass-beating that took place. I thought Lane Kiffin...
- 3:32Speaker 1: Handled it incredibly well in a Lane Kiffin way, like
- 3:36Speaker 1: the most Lane Kiffin way possible. Handled it well. Then
- 3:39Speaker 1: there was a rain delay, a lightning strike delay, which
- 3:42Speaker 1: was like 90 minutes. And as we're walking around the stadium,
- 3:45Speaker 1: people are kind of showing us this is where the
- 3:46Speaker 1: locker room is. This is where the visiting locker room is.
- 3:48Speaker 1: And the visiting locker room is essentially two of these
- 3:50Speaker 1: buses stacked together.
- 3:51Speaker 2: They are tiny, tiny locker room. You have a hundred
- 3:54Speaker 2: guys in there. Crammed them in there.
- 3:56Speaker 1: And Lane Kiffin after in the press conference was like, no,
- 3:59Speaker 1: if they said we want to go a little earlier,
- 4:00Speaker 1: we could.
- 4:01Speaker 2: He said no.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Because he remembers being on the other side and knowing
- 4:04Speaker 1: how bad that locker room is. Just the mind games
- 4:07Speaker 1: taking place.
- 4:08Speaker 2: All the things.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Making a shot in the third quarter. Taking the basketball
- 4:12Speaker 1: and shooting it from the sideline. Going for two when
- 4:16Speaker 1: they're up by 40. It's like this is LSU Tigers.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin and LSU, like, it's perfect. It's a perfect
- 4:23Speaker 1: marriage right now. And I just, for me, my personal
- 4:26Speaker 1: picks for the season, I have a lot weighing on LSU.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I hope it keeps going this way.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they dominated from start to finish. Even
- 4:33Speaker 2: going into that game where it's like all the angles,
- 4:35Speaker 2: it's like the likely scenario. Yeah, LSU is who they
- 4:38Speaker 2: seem to be on paper. This could be a blowout.
- 4:40Speaker 2: There's tons of distractions going on. How is this game
- 4:43Speaker 2: going to play out? Like, does Clemson have a shot
- 4:44Speaker 2: at all? Like, everything that Dabo has... has built as
- 4:49Speaker 2: he's kind of, he is in the A-gap. But as
- 4:51Speaker 2: far as adapt or die, he's somebody that's trying to
- 4:54Speaker 2: stay in 10 toes on what his formula has been
- 4:56Speaker 2: throughout his career. And you got to see almost a
- 5:00Speaker 2: death take place in Death Valley. Because not only that,
- 5:05Speaker 2: but even if you go to the first series and
- 5:06Speaker 2: you know how the first series is going to play out,
- 5:09Speaker 2: it's like, hey, what if you knew that this game
- 5:11Speaker 2: was going to start off by Sam Levitt throwing an
- 5:13Speaker 2: interception on the second play of the game, and Clemson
- 5:15Speaker 2: was going to be in enemy territory. You're thinking, like,
- 5:18Speaker 2: it could flip on its head. Like, this game is
- 5:21Speaker 2: going to be throwing punch for punch. But the way
- 5:25Speaker 2: LSU kind of ran away with that game offensively, defensively,
- 5:29Speaker 2: that defense flies the fuck around, bro. They have athletes everywhere.
- 5:33Speaker 2: And their running back, number 13.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Harlem.
- 5:38Speaker 2: No, it was Dylan Jones.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Oh, the Wisconsin transfer. Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Dude, he is a stud. He didn't even play much,
- 5:44Speaker 2: which is crazy. He played in the beginning a little bit. Hey,
- 5:46Speaker 2: 13 is nice, bro. He can run the ball. As
- 5:48Speaker 2: far as like, you know, you're sitting there, you're kind
- 5:49Speaker 2: of like, man, is Clemson really this bad? Their tackling
- 5:52Speaker 2: was very bad. But 13 makes you miss. Like they
- 5:54Speaker 2: have a juggernaut of a squad if they keep it going.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Because this week, both LSU and Ole Miss are not
- 6:00Speaker 2: even worried about who they got. I want to say
- 6:01Speaker 2: Ole Miss plays Charlotte. LSU plays like Louisiana Tech. It's
- 6:05Speaker 2: all about week three. Yeah. LSU going to Ole Miss
- 6:07Speaker 2: and that game is going to be, that game is
- 6:11Speaker 2: going to be biblical.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yeah. That game will be something that, yeah, there'll be, yes,
- 6:15Speaker 1: it'll be earthquake type of level stuff going down.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I'm concerned for Dabo Sweeney going into this year now.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 6:23Speaker 1: As far as like a gap and all that, like, yeah, absolutely.
- 6:26Speaker 1: The question, and this is a great tier talk that
- 6:28Speaker 1: we got from super Alex farms is Clemson that bad
- 6:30Speaker 1: or is LSU that good? Hashtag fire Debo, Debo, Dabo.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Nasty.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Hashtag tier talk. Hashtag tier one. Like, it could just
- 6:39Speaker 1: be that. It could be LSU is that good and
- 6:42Speaker 1: Clemson goes in the ACC and they do well. I
- 6:44Speaker 1: know they benched Vazina halfway through that game to give
- 6:47Speaker 1: their freshman an opportunity.
- 6:50Speaker 2: But who knows? Week one, everyone's going to overreact.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Everyone's going to overreact.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Week one, you're the greatest in the world or the worst.
- 6:57Speaker 4: In the world.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Week two is when you really see teams come alive
- 7:00Speaker 1: and start to really get in the groove of the season.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I know. Who they are. But this one doesn't, yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 2: You're right about overreacting. Because I'm with you. This one
- 7:06Speaker 2: was just so bad. Like if it was 31-7 or
- 7:09Speaker 2: 31-10 or, you know, 28-13, I don't know, to where
- 7:13Speaker 2: it was still kind of a nasty beating and LSU
- 7:15Speaker 2: kind of controlled the game the whole time. but Clemson
- 7:17Speaker 2: was in it. I mean, they were one for a
- 7:19Speaker 2: hundred on third down. Like they couldn't really get anything
- 7:23Speaker 2: going offensively. Defense couldn't really, you know, they weren't communicating
- 7:27Speaker 2: that well, missing tackles everywhere. I'm in that spot to
- 7:31Speaker 2: where I respect what Dabo has done so much to
- 7:34Speaker 2: where I feel like I'm a cat that's kind of
- 7:36Speaker 2: hanging on to, you know, culture, coaching experience, and they'll
- 7:41Speaker 2: get it going. But then when you go to the
- 7:43Speaker 2: philosophies of adapt or die, and he hasn't adapted to
- 7:46Speaker 2: this new era of college football, that we might be
- 7:49Speaker 2: witnessing the first death because there was no adaptation whatsoever.
- 7:53Speaker 2: And there hasn't been. And 51-10, and they got their
- 7:57Speaker 2: touchdown against the threes. Dude, they look so bad. They
- 8:01Speaker 2: look completely shell-shocked. I mean, they had like 20 punts
- 8:05Speaker 2: on the game. They could not do anything, bro.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Having a team with nine guys that got drafted the
- 8:10Speaker 1: year prior go into Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in Death Valley,
- 8:15Speaker 1: in front of that fan base with their new coach,
- 8:17Speaker 1: all the transfers and the money they put behind it.
- 8:19Speaker 1: It was an uphill battle from the beginning. I mean,
- 8:22Speaker 1: even walking around pregame, seeing the offensive linemen, like they
- 8:25Speaker 1: were noticeably like kind of running their RPM super high.
- 8:29Speaker 1: They were feeding into the energy.
- 8:31Speaker 2: And then you go in there.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys saw this clip, but
- 8:33Speaker 1: there was one where I think it might've been weeks
- 8:35Speaker 1: or a linebacker blitzes. And the left guard is, has
- 8:39Speaker 1: a shoulders completely turned away. And he is just kind
- 8:42Speaker 1: of standing there where it's like, That's week one in
- 8:46Speaker 1: a nutshell for a lot of teams. Some teams come out,
- 8:48Speaker 1: they look fantastic, super disciplined. They're throwing the ball over
- 8:52Speaker 1: the yard.
- 8:52Speaker 2: They look great.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And then other guys have like, they are lost. And
- 8:55Speaker 1: it's one guy here, one guy there. But you compile
- 8:57Speaker 1: that over 60 minutes, you get a horrible result. I'm
- 9:01Speaker 1: with you when it comes to Dabo. Like, yeah, this
- 9:03Speaker 1: is the clip right here, 74. And it's like, clearly
- 9:06Speaker 1: you're supposed to get that guy, you know? But with the,
- 9:10Speaker 1: what you just said about Dapper, like the adapt or die,
- 9:13Speaker 1: this was their version of adapting this year. They brought
- 9:15Speaker 1: in the most transfer guys they ever have. since like
- 9:18Speaker 1: the NIL era has started, but it was still only
- 9:21Speaker 1: like nine, nine to 11 guys. And it's like when
- 9:24Speaker 1: you're scared to jump into a new place, a lot
- 9:28Speaker 1: of times this is the result you get. Sometimes you'll
- 9:30Speaker 1: be right and be on the right side of like, no,
- 9:32Speaker 1: this is the way things are supposed to be. But
- 9:33Speaker 1: the way college football is going and how it's not
- 9:35Speaker 1: slowing down from like how much of a wild west
- 9:37Speaker 1: it is, you got to look at it similarly to
- 9:41Speaker 1: the way Lane Kiffin does, the way like Ryan Day
- 9:44Speaker 1: did when They're talking about these NFL players coming back.
- 9:46Speaker 1: He's like, hey, we got to evaluate. We got to
- 9:47Speaker 1: do whatever's best for our school. Because that's how coaches
- 9:51Speaker 1: in this era of college football are going to be successful. Dabo,
- 9:55Speaker 1: you don't want to trash the guy because of everything
- 9:58Speaker 1: he's accomplished. of winning two national championships, having all the
- 10:02Speaker 1: success he did. That leash is getting shorter and shorter.
- 10:07Speaker 1: And it's not our decision, right? It's the boosters. It's
- 10:09Speaker 1: the higher ups at Clemson that are going to make
- 10:11Speaker 1: that decision. But that was as tough of a game
- 10:15Speaker 1: to watch if you're a Clemson fan than maybe any
- 10:17Speaker 1: other team. in all of college football other than Rutgers.
- 10:20Speaker 1: But I don't know how many fans Rutgers has, if.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I'm being honest.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I'm not even trying to be rude about that. But
- 10:25Speaker 1: like there's a different level, like a different level of
- 10:28Speaker 1: fandom that takes place with Clemson as opposed to Rutgers.
- 10:30Speaker 2: No disrespect to Ryan Nolan. If you're the fan base
- 10:32Speaker 2: of Clemson, like that was a showing to where you're
- 10:34Speaker 2: sitting there, it's quiet in the living room, it's quiet
- 10:37Speaker 2: wherever you're watching. And it's, you kind of don't know
- 10:40Speaker 2: what to say other than like, man, this really could
- 10:44Speaker 2: be it for a guy that, you know, Maybe not
- 10:47Speaker 2: in that moment. They're probably pretty pissed off about you
- 10:50Speaker 2: with Dabo. But in that moment, it's like a cat
- 10:52Speaker 2: that you've won some natties with. Right.
- 10:55Speaker 1: And we're already living in the world of like, we're
- 10:57Speaker 1: basically looking at Dabo's body and he's like, hey, I'm
- 11:00Speaker 1: still breathing.
- 11:00Speaker 2: We're like, he's dead. Look at him.
- 11:02Speaker 1: He's no longer with us. Like he's still, he turned
- 11:05Speaker 1: the season around. At the end of the year, if
- 11:08Speaker 1: the noise will just get louder, any loss that they have,
- 11:11Speaker 1: and if it keeps going the way that it feels
- 11:13Speaker 1: like it may go, because that ass beating is not
- 11:16Speaker 1: just a, is like a, hey, we got to throw
- 11:19Speaker 1: the film away.
- 11:20Speaker 2: We got a culture.
- 11:21Speaker 1: It's like that's a culture killing ass beating. That is
- 11:24Speaker 1: when you might have to come in and throw the
- 11:26Speaker 1: tape in the trash. Like, hey, we can't even- We
- 11:28Speaker 1: can't watch that. And you know, 74 is like, thank
- 11:30Speaker 1: God we're not watching that. There's a handful of guys
- 11:33Speaker 1: that are dreading walking into that facility today being like, please, Dabo,
- 11:37Speaker 1: have a black suit on and just say, we're dead.
- 11:39Speaker 2: We're moving on from that. We're going to have the conversation.
- 11:43Speaker 4: But- Does that actually happen?
- 11:46Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 2: After a really bad loss? If you get your ass beat- No, Dave.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I mean, we did it at the Titans, dude. We
- 11:51Speaker 1: started two and four. um, 2019. And when we did
- 11:55Speaker 1: like raves came in and gave us the whole spiel
- 11:57Speaker 1: of like, Hey, look at the media. Look at our,
- 12:00Speaker 1: our national and local media.
- 12:01Speaker 2: We're dead.
- 12:02Speaker 1: We're not alive. Like we're no longer on this planet
- 12:04Speaker 1: with you guys anymore.
- 12:05Speaker 2: We need to be wearing black. Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Because there's a funeral for this team. So, Hey guys,
- 12:09Speaker 1: work the way you want to work. Apparently we're just dead.
- 12:11Speaker 1: And then you spin it into a way like there,
- 12:13Speaker 1: everyone hates you. Everyone's sleeping on you. Fuck that film.
- 12:15Speaker 1: We're not watching that at all. It was just going
- 12:17Speaker 1: to the next week.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Cause it doesn't matter.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Does it fellas? And you're kind of walk away like,
- 12:21Speaker 1: Kind of stoked we're not watching that because I remember
- 12:22Speaker 1: these four or five plays I had that I really
- 12:24Speaker 1: would hate to be exposed in front of the boys around,
- 12:26Speaker 1: even though everyone's watched the film already.
- 12:28Speaker 2: And then even the missed tackles, you show just the
- 12:30Speaker 2: missed tackles. Like, guys, we are here to, we make
- 12:33Speaker 2: these plays. This is a different ball game. Even when,
- 12:35Speaker 2: in the first quarter, when they had a glimpse of moving,
- 12:38Speaker 2: moving the ball for a moment, when they hit, when
- 12:40Speaker 2: they hit their stud wide receiver and you just show
- 12:43Speaker 2: some of the highlights and then show, or the couple
- 12:45Speaker 2: highlights that they have. And then even defensively, he's like, guys,
- 12:48Speaker 2: we are in position to make all of these plays.
- 12:51Speaker 2: And then you just spin it in your head mentally
- 12:53Speaker 2: to brainwash going into this next game. Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 1: The Dabo thing, I hope at the end, because it's
- 12:59Speaker 1: going to be like, let's just say it keeps going
- 13:00Speaker 1: this way.
- 13:01Speaker 2: He's in the A gap.
- 13:01Speaker 1: It's going to be loud. People are going to be
- 13:03Speaker 1: calling for his head. As soon as he says, hey,
- 13:06Speaker 1: I'm done coaching or they fire him or whatever, it's
- 13:10Speaker 1: going to immediately be, thank you so much for what
- 13:11Speaker 1: you've done for us, Dabo.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Appreciate you.
- 13:13Speaker 1: And it's like, hopefully- Clemson handles it with grace if
- 13:16Speaker 1: that does happen. Once again, I'm talking as if the
- 13:18Speaker 1: guy's been fired and all that.
- 13:20Speaker 2: You kind of painted the picture. Yeah, I painted the picture.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Hopefully they handle it with grace. This is week one overreaction.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Week one overreactions are taking place right now, and it's
- 13:27Speaker 1: really hard not to overreact to that game, a Clemson
- 13:30Speaker 1: game like that.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Brutal.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely brutal. Biggest headline coming out of the weekend
- 13:36Speaker 2: is what some people are coining, the Michigan screw job,
- 13:39Speaker 2: the Michigan Bell Mary. what took place in Ann Arbor
- 13:43Speaker 2: over the weekend against Western Michigan. We got done with
- 13:47Speaker 2: the game and we're kind of sitting on the van
- 13:49Speaker 2: that we were on or the bus that we were on.
- 13:51Speaker 2: The tarmac, yeah. Yeah, we're sitting on the tarmac waiting
- 13:53Speaker 2: to get on the plane, watching it from our screens.
- 13:56Speaker 2: We had our small phone, Columbus holding it up. We
- 13:58Speaker 2: see the last play because we know that you're sitting
- 14:00Speaker 2: in the back corner in absolute hell thinking that Mission
- 14:06Speaker 2: will be losing this football game because, again, we're kind
- 14:08Speaker 2: of hanging on to a Hail Mary there at the end. Yeah.
- 14:11Speaker 2: In your mind, it's already done. It's already over.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Well, in my mind, and I think everybody else's mind,
- 14:14Speaker 1: when we see the first Hail Mary, I literally put
- 14:18Speaker 1: my phone down.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Well, yeah, everybody got real quiet. It's like, damn, Western
- 14:22Speaker 2: Michigan just shocked the world. We kind of feel like
- 14:24Speaker 2: this is an upstate situation. What in the hell is
- 14:27Speaker 2: Michigan going to do from here? And then all of
- 14:30Speaker 2: a sudden, like a minute or two later, somebody comments that, hey,
- 14:33Speaker 2: they put another second back on the clock. So everybody's
- 14:36Speaker 2: trying to rush to get back on their phone, put
- 14:37Speaker 2: the phone back up. You see the Hail Mary take place.
- 14:40Speaker 2: You guys win. Celebration happens. We're running all over the place.
- 14:44Speaker 2: We're hugging. We're celebrating. We kind of get on the
- 14:46Speaker 2: plane and that's when we start to kind of see
- 14:49Speaker 2: as we're taking off that, hey, should there even been
- 14:52Speaker 2: a second put back on? And it's, oh, we're not
- 14:53Speaker 2: going to apologize for losing. We're doing all this. We're
- 14:55Speaker 2: doing everything we possibly can. Dude, everybody's going to bitch
- 14:58Speaker 2: about something. Then when you land or we get a
- 15:00Speaker 2: little bit of Wi-Fi while we're in the air, we
- 15:02Speaker 2: see that there was something kind of happening to where
- 15:05Speaker 2: clocks weren't in sync. You know, they should be putting
- 15:09Speaker 2: a second back on. Does Western Michigan deserve to be
- 15:11Speaker 2: 1-0 right now? And so it kind of took a
- 15:14Speaker 2: couple hours for us to even understand what happened. What
- 15:17Speaker 2: has been going on in your mind? Since that moment
- 15:21Speaker 2: took place, everything you've read, everything you've seen, do you
- 15:24Speaker 2: feel like it was a bail Mary? Do you feel
- 15:26Speaker 2: like it was a Michigan screw job?
- 15:27Speaker 1: Let's paint the picture real quick of what was happening.
- 15:30Speaker 1: So we are there at halftime. We leave after the
- 15:33Speaker 1: first quarter because we have to get back to Nashville
- 15:36Speaker 1: after the first quarter of LSU Clemson. At that time,
- 15:39Speaker 1: because of the rain delay and everything, it is 7-9.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Michigan is losing with six minutes left in the fourth quarter.
- 15:48Speaker 1: This is what's going through my head right now. One,
- 15:50Speaker 1: you buy into the optimism of the offseason. You hear
- 15:52Speaker 1: all the good things about Bryce Underwood. You hear all
- 15:54Speaker 1: those things. I haven't seen the film. I don't know
- 15:56Speaker 1: what's true, what's not. I'm just getting a lot of
- 15:58Speaker 1: negativity or negative things being brought my way, whether it's
- 16:03Speaker 1: a booster texting me, some higher ups at Michigan.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Me tapping Taylor's shoulder and being like, I don't have
- 16:07Speaker 2: much better news. It's 9-7. Yeah, and there's.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Six minutes left in the game. We meet up with
- 16:12Speaker 1: the boys after and everyone's like, kind of giving me
- 16:14Speaker 1: the look like I'm Dabo Sweeney. Like, hey, we're looking
- 16:16Speaker 1: at a dead body right now. So I'm in a blender.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Wi-Fi is not great. And this Hail Mary takes place.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Clock hits zero. We lose to Western Michigan. Then the
- 16:29Speaker 1: second gets put back on. That is after I have been,
- 16:32Speaker 1: I feel dead. I feel like our season as quickly
- 16:36Speaker 1: as week one started. And the optimism of what Michigan
- 16:39Speaker 1: can be. And the potential of look at the juggernaut
- 16:42Speaker 1: of a schedule we have. but a lot of people
- 16:45Speaker 1: are putting us at nine wins. And if you're at
- 16:47Speaker 1: nine wins, who's to say you can't get to 10 wins?
- 16:48Speaker 1: And if you get to 10 wins, now you're looking
- 16:50Speaker 1: at a college football playoff berth. So I'm thinking to myself,
- 16:54Speaker 1: just as fast as the optimism and excitement started for
- 16:56Speaker 1: the season, I am now in a great, my season
- 16:59Speaker 1: as a fan of Michigan is now over.
- 17:01Speaker 2: It's over. It's over.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Pulse fully not there. Now I'm told that there's another
- 17:05Speaker 1: second being put on the clock. I don't know how
- 17:07Speaker 1: that happened. I don't know what, given all the things
- 17:09Speaker 1: you said, we're sitting on tarmac, we're kind of just
- 17:11Speaker 1: watching the game and I see it go down. And
- 17:14Speaker 1: it's like a jolt of energy. You rush the field.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I rush the field. I'm fired up. Boys are jumping around.
- 17:20Speaker 1: I mean, clumps, we're dapping up and hugging. Pete gives
- 17:25Speaker 1: me this massive hug. Everyone's just, we're excited about multiple things.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Excited that, I'm assuming the boys are excited for me
- 17:32Speaker 1: because my family from Michigan. But also we're excited because
- 17:34Speaker 1: we said on Friday on our show, Bustin' and Paid
- 17:37Speaker 1: on Campus, we'll see you in Ann Arbor next week.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that was on the line.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And I'm sitting there thinking to myself, this is why
- 17:44Speaker 1: College Game Day doesn't say where they're going the next week.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Because college football is not a predictable game. And I
- 17:50Speaker 1: have to sit here in front of fans in Ann Arbor,
- 17:53Speaker 1: Michigan and be like, here's why we're going to beat Oklahoma.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Don't look at the fact that we lost to Western Michigan.
- 17:58Speaker 1: But I'm going to tell you guys why we're going
- 18:00Speaker 1: to win. I was going to do that no matter what.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Because they didn't bring us to ESPN to all of
- 18:05Speaker 1: a sudden just throw our teams out the window and
- 18:08Speaker 1: all of a sudden be completely unbiased.
- 18:09Speaker 2: We could have got a.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Text saying, you guys got to pick a different location.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And that probably would have been the best. I'd be like, yeah,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I think they're right.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Let's not go to Ann Arbor.
- 18:17Speaker 1: This is not the time to go to Ann Arbor.
- 18:20Speaker 1: But all the excitement happens. People storm the field. Michigan's
- 18:24Speaker 1: getting absolutely body bags for rushing the field right now.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And I could look at that and put my nose
- 18:29Speaker 1: up to it as well and be like, why are
- 18:30Speaker 1: we rushing the field? I essentially did the same thing
- 18:32Speaker 1: at the airport. And that is, I did the same
- 18:36Speaker 1: exact thing at the airport. And as the wheels are
- 18:38Speaker 1: leaving the ground and we're flying back to Nashville, I'm
- 18:41Speaker 1: having post-nut clarity.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I'm thinking to.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Myself, dude, did you really just get excited about beating
- 18:48Speaker 1: Western Michigan? Did you really just, after a team that
- 18:52Speaker 1: you didn't, you don't see all the stats, but you know,
- 18:54Speaker 1: you didn't run it well. You hear that Bryce didn't
- 18:56Speaker 1: play well. I've been able to break down the film.
- 18:59Speaker 1: And so I'm now having this feeling in my head, like, dude,
- 19:03Speaker 1: what is there to be excited about? Other than you
- 19:05Speaker 1: have a win and a mark in the win column,
- 19:08Speaker 1: there's nothing really to be excited about. And I go
- 19:12Speaker 1: to bed.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I wake up at 2.30 in the morning. Cold sweats. No,
- 19:16Speaker 2: from a phone call.
- 19:17Speaker 1: This is not a joke. A phone call from Shane Gillis.
- 19:20Speaker 2: 2.30 in the morning. My phone's on do not disturb.
- 19:24Speaker 1: So if you're not in my favorites contact, which is
- 19:25Speaker 1: like three people in there, you have to call multiple
- 19:28Speaker 1: times for it to actually make your phone ring.
- 19:30Speaker 2: 2.30, I look. I'm like, what the, is the alarms
- 19:32Speaker 2: already going off? Pick my phone up.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I look, Shane Gillis over there.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And I just go. Answer it. I go, please don't.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Please don't.
- 19:41Speaker 1: He goes, what are you guys doing storming the field?
- 19:45Speaker 2: This is why Michigan fucking sucks.
- 19:47Speaker 1: You guys are and I'm like dude I'm seriously I'm
- 19:50Speaker 1: gonna kill myself I just keep over and over and
- 19:53Speaker 1: then he does a thing where he goes oh yeah
- 19:55Speaker 1: this is not that bad it's not that bad and
- 19:57Speaker 1: then I start to agree with him he's like but
- 19:58Speaker 1: you guys are awful and it's like takes me on
- 20:00Speaker 1: this damn roller coaster for 20 minutes dude at 2
- 20:03Speaker 1: 30 in the morning scary hours I wake up the
- 20:07Speaker 1: next morning I watch the film And I realized something. Like,
- 20:13Speaker 1: we thought our season was dead. Those fans have every
- 20:15Speaker 1: right to storm the field regardless. Like, you didn't storm
- 20:19Speaker 1: the field because you beat Western Michigan. You stormed the
- 20:21Speaker 1: field because your season was saved. You stormed the field
- 20:24Speaker 1: because the hope and optimism of what could happen is
- 20:27Speaker 1: still alive, regardless of how you feel about how the
- 20:29Speaker 1: team played. Because I'll be honest, hey, spoiler, Michigan played
- 20:33Speaker 1: like shit. They played bad. They came in there, they
- 20:36Speaker 1: had one good series, and after that, it all fell apart.
- 20:40Speaker 1: But the reality is, is you're 1-0. I'm not going
- 20:43Speaker 1: to defend one second being put on the clock. I'm
- 20:47Speaker 1: not gonna defend the multitude of different clocks that may
- 20:50Speaker 1: or may not exist. I don't have the capability to
- 20:54Speaker 1: do such things. But I know the result of what's
- 20:56Speaker 1: taking place is Michigan won and Western Michigan lost. That
- 21:01Speaker 1: is what happened. Who deserved to win that game? Western
- 21:03Speaker 1: Michigan deserved to win that game. I watched the film.
- 21:05Speaker 1: On defense, they played harder. On offense, they played more physical.
- 21:09Speaker 1: They did a lot of things where you look at
- 21:10Speaker 1: that team and you go, they should have won that game.
- 21:12Speaker 1: But that's not the way college football works. And I'm
- 21:15Speaker 1: a Western Michigan fan. If I were to sit back,
- 21:19Speaker 1: I can see him. If I were to, if I
- 21:20Speaker 1: could sit back, I would legit be boycotting the entire NCAA.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I would, I would be picketing. And so I have
- 21:30Speaker 1: so much empathy for Western Michigan fans.
- 21:33Speaker 2: This is the result.
- 21:34Speaker 1: This is what we live in on a Monday as
- 21:36Speaker 1: we shoot this recap show. The result is Michigan has
- 21:39Speaker 1: a win. I do have good news for Michigan fans.
- 21:43Speaker 1: You're never as bad as you think, and you're never
- 21:47Speaker 1: as good as you think. That film, our defense, flies around.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Flies around. We're getting home with four.
- 21:55Speaker 2: All right?
- 21:55Speaker 1: We're stuffing them. The defense is going to keep us
- 21:59Speaker 1: in the game going into next week. And I'm not
- 22:00Speaker 1: here to break down the whole thing. I'm not here
- 22:02Speaker 1: to break down the whole thing. We got the locker
- 22:03Speaker 1: room on Wednesday. We got the locker room on Wednesday.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Did Western Michigan win the MAAC last year?
- 22:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Did UTEP have two wins last year? That's who Oklahoma played?
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Did UTEP's entire offensive line have their first D1 start?
- 22:14Speaker 2: Yeah, they did.
- 22:16Speaker 1: So there's a lot of things take place. Does Bryce
- 22:19Speaker 1: Underwood need to play better?
- 22:20Speaker 5: Yes.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Here's the negative.
- 22:22Speaker 1: On the offensive side of the ball, looked like a
- 22:24Speaker 1: bunch of guys playing like they were thinking about what
- 22:27Speaker 1: they should do next, not just playing the game of football.
- 22:30Speaker 1: That's the biggest thing I saw. A lot of MAs,
- 22:32Speaker 1: a lot of guys comboing to multiple combinations, going to
- 22:37Speaker 1: one linebacker, a lot of things. All I had to say,
- 22:40Speaker 1: is 48 hours after what could have been a travesty,
- 22:44Speaker 1: the reality is Michigan's still undefeated. Our season is still alive.
- 22:48Speaker 1: And all the things that I saw on film are
- 22:51Speaker 1: very fixable going into this week against Oklahoma. That's how
- 22:55Speaker 1: I feel about all that.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Clean take?
- 22:59Speaker 1: Clean take. Michigan has a win.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Michigan's won. Clean take.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Clean take.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Michigan won the game.
- 23:06Speaker 1: And I am not going to go 2023 Taylor again.
- 23:11Speaker 2: All right.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I'm not going to walk around with the, the, you know,
- 23:14Speaker 1: we're great. Everybody else is, I'm not, I'm not doing that.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Cause I don't, I understand the pain of being a
- 23:22Speaker 1: college football fan. Now I've gone through the last two,
- 23:24Speaker 1: I get it. And I know that my optimism and
- 23:30Speaker 1: judgment of how the Michigan Wolverines are going to do,
- 23:32Speaker 1: it goes into week two. And I've said it since the,
- 23:35Speaker 1: since the beginning, since our futures, I will tell you
- 23:37Speaker 1: how I feel about Michigan and, After week two, nothing's changed.
- 23:42Speaker 1: It's on our company calendar.
- 23:44Speaker 2: You say you understand over the last, over the last
- 23:47Speaker 2: couple of years, but didn't you go like eight and
- 23:48Speaker 2: five and like nine and three last year?
- 23:51Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's, here's the deal, dude. Listen, eight and five,
- 23:55Speaker 1: nine and three, like.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I saw Will's face when you said that. I kind
- 23:58Speaker 2: of understand the pain. Man, I don't think you had
- 24:00Speaker 2: a losing season.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Here's the deal. I understand from where you're coming from,
- 24:06Speaker 1: where you guys were at a much lower place than
- 24:08Speaker 1: Michigan has been as far as bowl games. You don't
- 24:11Speaker 1: have to talk to us. You don't have to talk
- 24:13Speaker 1: to us. You're looking at the University of Michigan, a
- 24:19Speaker 1: blue chip franchise. a team that has more wins than
- 24:22Speaker 1: any other college football team, that has just as much
- 24:25Speaker 1: money as any other college football team, the expectation for Michigan,
- 24:28Speaker 1: especially in this NIL era, should be what Ohio State
- 24:32Speaker 1: is doing every week, which is every year, which is reloading,
- 24:35Speaker 1: which should be what Georgia is doing, which should be
- 24:37Speaker 1: what LSU is doing right now. They should be a
- 24:40Speaker 1: team that reloads every single year and you don't have
- 24:43Speaker 1: to worry about Western Michigan. And that is just the
- 24:46Speaker 1: expectation of fans. That's the expectation of the school. That
- 24:50Speaker 1: is what Michigan football is. So you sit here and
- 24:53Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, nine and three, eight and four. It's like,
- 24:55Speaker 1: but we know what that nine and three was like our,
- 24:57Speaker 1: our schedule. Like we all can sit there and be like, yeah,
- 24:59Speaker 1: we ran the ball and we're, we're just, we're just
- 25:03Speaker 1: tougher and better football players on the field.
- 25:04Speaker 2: That's why we're nine and three.
- 25:06Speaker 1: We need to take a step. I think this is
- 25:08Speaker 1: the best case scenario for a team like this, where
- 25:12Speaker 1: it's do or die this week. You can't just sit
- 25:14Speaker 1: there and be like, you have a win, but every
- 25:16Speaker 1: bit of us, anyone who is like, I'm about Michigan football,
- 25:19Speaker 1: which is less of us every single week, it seems like,
- 25:23Speaker 1: as college football keeps going, which is exactly where you
- 25:25Speaker 1: want to be if you're a true fan of Michigan.
- 25:27Speaker 1: There is no like, oh, we feel good about what
- 25:30Speaker 1: just happened. So the team should feel that way. The
- 25:32Speaker 1: coaches should feel that way. And I think there's going
- 25:35Speaker 1: to be an absolute bloodbath that takes place in Ann
- 25:37Speaker 1: Arbor this weekend.
- 25:38Speaker 2: A bloodbath. Deep State College football interjected. with that, with
- 25:44Speaker 2: the second. And I, all the things.
- 25:46Speaker 1: That you say, I did everything where you're coming from.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I take no disrespect by that comment at all. Cause
- 25:51Speaker 1: I can't, I'm not going to sit here and argue
- 25:53Speaker 1: that point because it just, that just becomes truly bullshit bias,
- 25:58Speaker 1: Michigan fan stuff. And it's like, I would be, if
- 26:00Speaker 1: I'm not a Michigan fan, I would be livid about
- 26:02Speaker 1: that as well. But at the end, it wasn't.
- 26:04Speaker 2: If you're Western Michigan, you talk about boycotting, like this
- 26:07Speaker 2: is where you're taking a knee for the national, during
- 26:09Speaker 2: the national anthem. I'll say this. You gotta wake up.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I'll say, I don't know what America had to do
- 26:16Speaker 1: with this.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I don't know about all that. We like to have
- 26:20Speaker 2: fun on the podcast. Are we having fun right now, dude?
- 26:23Speaker 2: Are we having fun?
- 26:25Speaker 1: Dude, I think the way the head coach, what was
- 26:28Speaker 1: his name? Taylor, last name's Taylor. Coach for Western Michigan.
- 26:32Speaker 1: First off, great, great bit. What's his name?
- 26:33Speaker 2: Lance Taylor, right?
- 26:34Speaker 1: Lance Taylor. The way he handled himself in that press
- 26:37Speaker 1: conference was, Didn't lose his mind. Said he hadn't seen it.
- 26:40Speaker 1: He talked to the AD. The AD's already in touch
- 26:42Speaker 1: with the Big Ten. Lance Taylor, high character guy. This
- 26:48Speaker 1: dude could have had, he had every reason to bitch
- 26:50Speaker 1: and moan about the result that took place in the
- 26:54Speaker 1: big house. And he stood there and he handled the
- 26:57Speaker 1: loss with grace. He gave credit to Michigan. He gave
- 27:00Speaker 1: credit to his team. He handled it like everybody should.
- 27:03Speaker 1: As well as he could.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:05Speaker 1: And I have a lot of respect for Lance Taylor.
- 27:07Speaker 2: A lot of respect the ad the uh was the
- 27:10Speaker 2: president but yeah i mean look you're you're in the
- 27:14Speaker 2: max so it's like hey big bros coming in to
- 27:16Speaker 2: probably tell you that you're gonna have to get in
- 27:18Speaker 2: line with this decision.
- 27:19Speaker 1: You know what's just such a ridiculous thing is like
- 27:23Speaker 1: okay let's just say everything's true that the big 10
- 27:27Speaker 1: interjected they they put a second on the clock because
- 27:28Speaker 1: they couldn't see one of their media darlings get hurt
- 27:31Speaker 1: with michigan let's say let's say that actually happened Michigan's
- 27:34Speaker 1: not on the one yard line. They're not on the five.
- 27:36Speaker 1: They're not even in the red zone. They're on the
- 27:38Speaker 1: 47 yard line and adding one second and being like, okay,
- 27:42Speaker 1: give them another shot at a Hail Mary. Oh, that
- 27:44Speaker 1: one didn't count either. We'll do another one after that.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Like that is. it's kind of, that's where I feel
- 27:50Speaker 1: like it starts to get a little far-fetched.
- 27:53Speaker 2: With the clock.
- 27:54Speaker 1: It's not like there's one yard to go. We got
- 27:58Speaker 1: this Michigan offensive line who last year, they have all
- 28:00Speaker 1: the returning starters and they're going to be able to
- 28:02Speaker 1: pile it in. You're in the 47 and your most
- 28:05Speaker 1: unproven asset you have is the quarterback to this point.
- 28:09Speaker 1: And so you're just going to be like, oh, that's
- 28:10Speaker 1: the reason why? I get all the anger and all
- 28:13Speaker 1: those things, but that's where I get to like, But
- 28:15Speaker 1: we're in the 47 yard line.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I do agree with you from that standpoint. I just
- 28:19Speaker 2: think it's an absolute kind of disservice to everybody tuned
- 28:23Speaker 2: in by kind of just telling everybody that the clocks
- 28:26Speaker 2: weren't in sync. And you're talking about this clock, this
- 28:30Speaker 2: eagle-eyed deep state clock out of nowhere that's coming in.
- 28:34Speaker 2: And from our angle and the way we're breaking it down,
- 28:36Speaker 2: I just feel like it's very inconsistent. And where everybody's
- 28:41Speaker 2: mind goes is, would that happen? if the roles were
- 28:44Speaker 2: reversed and it was Western Michigan trying to get a
- 28:46Speaker 2: Hail Mary and the clock hit zero, like would they
- 28:48Speaker 2: go into a deep dive there and try to figure
- 28:50Speaker 2: out milliseconds and everything else where football has never done that?
- 28:53Speaker 2: Like the rule in the NFL is if there's an inconsistency,
- 28:57Speaker 2: you have to lean on the clock that is being
- 28:59Speaker 2: televised or the game clock that's happening in the stadium
- 29:01Speaker 2: that they're using, not some, not some clock that kind
- 29:04Speaker 2: of came out of nowhere to everybody else. I'm breaking
- 29:07Speaker 2: down this second and either any, any other situation in
- 29:10Speaker 2: college football, like if that were to happen, are they
- 29:13Speaker 2: doing a deep dive? Maybe they are for the big
- 29:14Speaker 2: prominent teams, but if it's a FCS school or a
- 29:18Speaker 2: lower level team, like, are they doing that for them
- 29:20Speaker 2: to where I completely get the outrage about it? Because
- 29:24Speaker 2: it is, it's kind of fucked up. It's like, dude,
- 29:26Speaker 2: The clock hit triple zero on every clock that anybody
- 29:29Speaker 2: else can see. But then there's this one that comes
- 29:32Speaker 2: out of nowhere that nobody really has understood or known about.
- 29:35Speaker 2: That's like all these milliseconds that are left on zero.
- 29:38Speaker 2: It's like, okay. so there's... Which I'm with, like when
- 29:42Speaker 2: you do the whole millisecond or the basketball shot clock
- 29:44Speaker 2: when it's ticking down and you have a full second
- 29:47Speaker 2: even when it hits zero. If you guys are on
- 29:49Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage and you spike the ball at zero,
- 29:55Speaker 2: when the clock has hit zero, you spike the ball.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Do you get to go back and now get into
- 30:00Speaker 2: the millisecond game on zero? Did you spike the ball
- 30:03Speaker 2: at the right time when the clock hit triple zero?
- 30:05Speaker 2: Or if a coach, can he now wait until it
- 30:07Speaker 2: hits triple zero across the board? When it hits triple zero, timeout.
- 30:11Speaker 2: And then be like, hey, go into the eagle eye clock,
- 30:14Speaker 2: the deep state clock that's out there and find the
- 30:16Speaker 2: milliseconds that we have, even though everything says triple zero
- 30:19Speaker 2: on TV, in the stadium, everywhere. It's like now you
- 30:23Speaker 2: can dive in. I just feel like it's an inconsistency that...
- 30:27Speaker 2: adds to a list of all the things you feel
- 30:29Speaker 2: like college football, you already have this list that you
- 30:32Speaker 2: feel like you have to fix with scheduling, with college
- 30:33Speaker 2: football playoffs, all the shit that goes on legally with
- 30:37Speaker 2: college football right now. And now it feels like there's
- 30:39Speaker 2: just another thing to where, Hey, there's not, we're not very,
- 30:42Speaker 2: we're not really clear on what the ruling is here.
- 30:45Speaker 2: And we just have to lean on what you guys
- 30:47Speaker 2: tell us a couple hours after the game. Yeah. You
- 30:50Speaker 2: know what I mean? I agree with that one.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Like I said, I'm not, it'd be an injustice for
- 30:57Speaker 1: me to go and just try to like fight the
- 30:59Speaker 1: fight of the second or no second. It just, especially
- 31:02Speaker 1: coming out of my mouth. It's like everything I say
- 31:05Speaker 1: is like, if I'm trying to defend it, it's just
- 31:08Speaker 1: going to come off as bullshit.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Because when I look at it, it's like I can
- 31:13Speaker 1: see one or two or three things that I could
- 31:15Speaker 1: say as a point. But at the end of the day, like,
- 31:18Speaker 1: I'm a Michigan fan. I'm biased towards Michigan. And if
- 31:22Speaker 1: I go and I'm like this, and then I'm taking
- 31:23Speaker 1: away from Western Michigan, I'm taking away from the integrity
- 31:26Speaker 1: of the game. So to me, it's like, yeah, this,
- 31:28Speaker 1: it smells fishy. It feels uncomfortable. I see a couple
- 31:31Speaker 1: of reasons how it does kind of work with the
- 31:35Speaker 1: split second here and there. Cause you can't just go
- 31:36Speaker 1: one zero done. It's one zero. And then that full
- 31:40Speaker 1: second ends. Other than that, it's like, yeah, dude.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:44Speaker 1: If I'm not a Michigan fan, I'm pissed off too.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Because people are bringing up, it's like I was sitting
- 31:48Speaker 2: there before we took off. It's like I brought up Texas,
- 31:52Speaker 2: Nebraska in 09 and then our profile on X had posted.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Mack Brown doing the point. Like there's one second left,
- 32:00Speaker 2: one second left. Like the PTSD, everybody's talking like, oh, Will,
- 32:03Speaker 2: you remember back in 09. But even when you look
- 32:05Speaker 2: at this 09 game on the TV clock and everything else,
- 32:09Speaker 2: you can kind of see the ball hit out of
- 32:11Speaker 2: bounds before it hits triple zero to where I'll sit
- 32:14Speaker 2: there and play the game and be like, oh, they
- 32:16Speaker 2: put one second back on. Deep State College football took
- 32:19Speaker 2: it over from Nebraska. and do that whole thing. But
- 32:21Speaker 2: you're seeing all these examples and videos that have came
- 32:24Speaker 2: up through the history of college football. Now, even with,
- 32:27Speaker 2: which I didn't even know this, but even Michigan in 97,
- 32:30Speaker 2: Arizona State was driving. They would have had to have
- 32:32Speaker 2: thrown a Hail Mary, but they get on the ball
- 32:35Speaker 2: when you guys are playing for the national title and
- 32:37Speaker 2: Arizona State clocks it with like, and the ball hits
- 32:40Speaker 2: where there's like two seconds, but it ticks all the
- 32:42Speaker 2: way down to zero. Everybody storms the field, Michigan wins.
- 32:45Speaker 2: They would have had to have thrown a Hail Mary.
- 32:46Speaker 2: But it's like, everybody's going to do so much of
- 32:48Speaker 2: these antics now because of what happened in Ann Arbor
- 32:53Speaker 2: on this inconsistent gray area and the gods, the football
- 32:58Speaker 2: gods coming out and be like, no, there was a
- 33:00Speaker 2: second back still on the clock.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:02Speaker 2: It just puts everything kind of in a tough spot.
- 33:04Speaker 2: It puts it, yeah. And nobody knows, like the entire
- 33:07Speaker 2: public are just seeing the clock or two that the
- 33:09Speaker 2: game is showing us. And then- again, out of nowhere,
- 33:13Speaker 2: the front office, the upper room is coming and saying, no,
- 33:15Speaker 2: there's another clock here that nobody knows about or even understands,
- 33:19Speaker 2: but everything was out of sync. And it's like, yeah,
- 33:21Speaker 2: it's kind of fucking on all of you guys then
- 33:24Speaker 2: if that was out of sync. Yeah.
- 33:26Speaker 1: If you are Western Michigan, I mean, that's, you can
- 33:29Speaker 1: absolutely feel like something got taken from you, but if
- 33:31Speaker 1: you want, you'd probably feel really good about heading into
- 33:34Speaker 1: the Mac.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 33:35Speaker 1: You got to feel pretty good about heading into the
- 33:37Speaker 1: Mac right now. And to your point too, the thing that,
- 33:41Speaker 1: The only thing I'll stand on is like, okay, I
- 33:43Speaker 1: know all the anger towards Michigan from like 21 to
- 33:47Speaker 1: 23 and all the stuff with the ex-curriculars and the
- 33:50Speaker 1: head coach gets fired last year. I can get and
- 33:53Speaker 1: understand why people don't like that. This result had nothing
- 33:56Speaker 1: to do with Michigan. Like Michigan didn't call and say,
- 34:01Speaker 1: you need to fix this. This is a bigger conference thing.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Like if there's someone to be like, hey, if you're
- 34:08Speaker 1: a hater on Michigan and you think Western Michigan got screwed,
- 34:11Speaker 1: you're not pointing at the maize and blue here.
- 34:13Speaker 2: You're pointing at the conference itself.
- 34:16Speaker 1: And if you go to Point of Mission, it's not like,
- 34:19Speaker 1: you know, Whittingham called up and said, we need to
- 34:21Speaker 1: do this, or the new AD, you know what I'm saying?
- 34:23Speaker 2: Whittingham wanted to lose that game. He was pissed that
- 34:25Speaker 2: they even won. He was pissed that the Hail Mary
- 34:26Speaker 2: even took place. You see his stoicism throughout the entire
- 34:29Speaker 2: end of the game, like he's fucking pissed. Rightfully so.

- 36:16Speaker 2: Come say what's up to the boys. Keep it tasty
- 36:19Speaker 2: with Neutral. Let's get back to this episode. I had
- 36:22Speaker 2: one thing. Go ahead. The whole, like, the fix was
- 36:26Speaker 2: in for Michigan. It's like... why wouldn't they do that
- 36:28Speaker 2: the whole game then and make it not even happen
- 36:30Speaker 2: if the.
- 36:31Speaker 6: Fix was in for Michigan? It makes no sense. That
- 36:33Speaker 6: is the dumbest take I've heard in a long time.
- 36:36Speaker 6: The people that are like, oh, the fix was in
- 36:38Speaker 6: for Michigan. Why would they make it come down to
- 36:40Speaker 6: a Hail Mary? And Michigan is like, essentially the LSU
- 36:45Speaker 6: of the Big Ten. People hate Michigan. The Big Ten
- 36:49Speaker 6: hates Michigan.
- 36:50Speaker 2: People were talking about the Vegas odds and everything else.
- 36:53Speaker 2: I'm like, yo, Michigan was favored by what?
- 36:56Speaker 1: 27 and a half.
- 36:56Speaker 2: 27, 28 and a half, whatever it was. Talking about
- 36:58Speaker 2: this game was fixed on a spread.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Wasn't close to the total. Wasn't close to, like what?
- 37:04Speaker 1: There's a couple of people on Western Michigan money line.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Those people are fucking, they broke the shit out of
- 37:10Speaker 2: their TVs. They are absolutely pissed, man. If I'm them too,
- 37:16Speaker 2: I'm coming for fucking blood.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I can get on board with that. They didn't even
- 37:22Speaker 1: know Sharp on the Western Michigan. It is true, just
- 37:25Speaker 1: Western Michigan. I love my team. I'm going to put
- 37:27Speaker 1: 25 bucks on this one just because always.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Do you feel like it is.
- 37:33Speaker 2: I, the emotion that you were talking about when you
- 37:35Speaker 2: guys did finally win the game and you feel like
- 37:37Speaker 2: your season was over, is there a part of you
- 37:40Speaker 2: that's a little like, God, why did we storm the field?
- 37:43Speaker 2: Because statistically, if you go into the analytics, this is
- 37:46Speaker 2: the worst scenario. storming of the field in college football
- 37:49Speaker 2: history out of all the storms that have taken place.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Yeah. Who's doing the analytics on the worst, the worst
- 37:55Speaker 1: vibe to storm a field.
- 37:57Speaker 2: So yeah, just, uh, Willie C 51. So this man's
- 38:04Speaker 2: stat hole at stat hole sports. I found 175 college football,
- 38:08Speaker 2: football field storm since 2019. No team had a sadder
- 38:12Speaker 2: storm field than Michigan who was favored at minus 27,
- 38:15Speaker 2: seven and a half last night. And Michigan holds two
- 38:18Speaker 2: of the three saddest field storms. We'll continue to chart
- 38:21Speaker 2: more field storms in prior years. This is my new quest.
- 38:24Speaker 2: This is my new quest. He's got a chart here
- 38:28Speaker 2: and I'll send it to you so you can put
- 38:29Speaker 2: it up. He's got a chart here of all the
- 38:31Speaker 2: storms that have happened and how big the lines are
- 38:34Speaker 2: and what the saddest ones have been. And Michigan holds two.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Colorado over Colorado State is a bad one. Michigan over
- 38:43Speaker 2: Maryland in 2023. You guys stormed the field when you
- 38:45Speaker 2: were favorite 18. And then Kansas State over Oklahoma in 2019.
- 38:49Speaker 2: That was plus 23 and a half.
- 38:52Speaker 1: I'll say this, dude. That Maryland game, I said before
- 38:54Speaker 1: the season started, that'd be the hardest game of our
- 38:56Speaker 1: entire schedule, and I was right.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Taylor, you might hate this, but I think Michigan fans
- 39:00Speaker 2: should storm the field every win all season now. I
- 39:02Speaker 2: think they should just... That would be a funny troll.
- 39:05Speaker 2: That would be a funny troll. Just lean into it
- 39:07Speaker 2: and do it every game.
- 39:08Speaker 1: They stormed the field like when I... Trust me, when
- 39:10Speaker 1: I woke up, Yesterday morning, like I had embarrassment going
- 39:14Speaker 1: back and looking at me running around like a school
- 39:17Speaker 1: boy around the plane.
- 39:19Speaker 2: And the bus.
- 39:20Speaker 1: And then I started to think about it and it's like,
- 39:21Speaker 1: it's not about beating Western Michigan. It's about keeping the
- 39:25Speaker 1: season alive.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Like we all 115,000 people that showed up at that
- 39:30Speaker 1: stadium yesterday were had the optimism of, we have an
- 39:33Speaker 1: adult in the room. We finally have culture. We have
- 39:36Speaker 1: so many pieces. Regardless of the score of the Western
- 39:38Speaker 1: Michigan game, that's a top 15 roster. That is a
- 39:43Speaker 1: top 15 roster. And for that to happen, be dead
- 39:47Speaker 1: on the floor, then all of a sudden be spun
- 39:48Speaker 1: back to life. You're essentially given a second chance in
- 39:50Speaker 1: your college football life in 2026. I don't hate it
- 39:53Speaker 1: at all. I don't hate it at all. Now, if
- 39:56Speaker 1: we go and we win the game by 14 points
- 39:59Speaker 1: and we storm the field and say, all right, I
- 40:03Speaker 1: like it, I guess. We'll do what you want. But
- 40:05Speaker 1: what do we do in gatekeeping fandom? We can't let
- 40:08Speaker 1: people just... I feel like there is a... You feel
- 40:10Speaker 1: like people... People want to tell you how to be
- 40:14Speaker 1: a fan of sports. People want to tell you how
- 40:17Speaker 1: to act when you look at your team. Do we,
- 40:20Speaker 1: do we shun chef when, when Tennessee loses and he's
- 40:23Speaker 1: in a bad mood?
- 40:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:24Speaker 1: He's allowed to be how he wants with his team.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Do we get on Jack every, every single Titans home
- 40:30Speaker 1: game and there had the first overall pick in the draft,
- 40:32Speaker 1: but he's still there in mid-December. Yeah, but Jack should
- 40:35Speaker 1: be allowed to be a fan the way he wants
- 40:38Speaker 1: to be a fan.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Try to grab as many people as possible. I would
- 40:39Speaker 2: have never stormed that field, though. I would have never
- 40:42Speaker 2: stormed that field. And that's gatekeeping.
- 40:43Speaker 1: And that's, listen, that's how you want to handle your fandom. Well,
- 40:45Speaker 1: you're taking away from a good storming, though.
- 40:46Speaker 5: What do you mean?
- 40:47Speaker 2: Like, you take away from the moment.
- 40:48Speaker 1: A good storming is, hey, Jack, your season's dead, and
- 40:51Speaker 1: then you're pronounced dead. The doctor comes in, he looks
- 40:53Speaker 1: at his watch, time of death, 1645. And then all
- 40:57Speaker 1: of a sudden you come back to life. You're not
- 40:58Speaker 1: going to be pretty excited about walking through the pearly
- 41:01Speaker 1: gates and getting thrown back into the real world and
- 41:03Speaker 1: have another chance.
- 41:04Speaker 2: You're also a guy who- Well said. You're a big
- 41:07Speaker 2: fan of Whittingham. I think Whittingham's going to be a
- 41:09Speaker 2: good coach for Michigan. But taking on the personality of
- 41:12Speaker 2: your head coach too, like I'm sure there's a percentage
- 41:15Speaker 2: of fans that took on that persona as well, where
- 41:17Speaker 2: it's like, there's nothing to be happy about right now.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Like we got some shit to fix. Absolutely.
- 41:21Speaker 1: And those fans are allowed to be who they want.
- 41:24Speaker 1: I mean, dude, if I sat here and you're like,
- 41:29Speaker 1: before the game started, hey, Taylor, do you think they
- 41:31Speaker 1: should storm the field to beat Western Michigan? You're like, no,
- 41:33Speaker 1: I don't think so. Also, I'm one fan. But the
- 41:37Speaker 1: sequence of things that did take place, they stormed the field,
- 41:40Speaker 1: let them storm the field. And I think it would
- 41:42Speaker 1: be hilarious if every single game we went from here
- 41:44Speaker 1: on out, we stormed the field.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Even if y'all lose.
- 41:47Speaker 6: That's a resilient. It's getting lost too. That's a resilient
- 41:51Speaker 6: football team. All those kids, the game was over. They
- 41:54Speaker 6: lost the football game. And then, oh, hey, one more play,
- 41:57Speaker 6: one second. Still have the belief. Kyle Whittingham led them there.
- 42:00Speaker 2: I love it.
- 42:01Speaker 6: I think it's, people will hate hearing this, but I
- 42:03Speaker 6: think this will be a great story for Michigan all
- 42:05Speaker 6: year because it'll just take them to the top.
- 42:08Speaker 2: How many times have we looked at? Clean take.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Kevin's Natural Foods, clean take. How many times have we
- 42:13Speaker 1: looked at a team in week one and be like, oh,
- 42:14Speaker 1: they're dead. There's no more. And then we get into
- 42:16Speaker 1: the middle of October and they're like, remember week one?
- 42:19Speaker 1: How we thought they were going to suck and then
- 42:21Speaker 1: all of a sudden?
- 42:22Speaker 2: I don't think that's going to happen with Clemson. Okay.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Didn't know we were talking about that.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Just to go back to the Dabo thing. I
- 42:31Speaker 1: think he's dead, Dallas.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Just to circle back.
- 42:34Speaker 5: He doesn't have a chance.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Just throw that out.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Listen, storming the field, you can have your opinion on it,
- 42:40Speaker 1: but I think at the end of the day, let's
- 42:41Speaker 1: let fans fan. Let fans the way fans want a fan.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Clean take. Clean take. Clean take at.
- 42:47Speaker 1: The end of the day.
- 42:48Speaker 2: You wouldn't do it?
- 42:49Speaker 5: Oh, good.
- 42:50Speaker 1: You're not that type of fan.
- 42:52Speaker 2: No worries.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Let's let fans fan.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Onward. Big 10. Big 10 conference. Whoa, whoa, whoa, Jack. No,
- 43:04Speaker 2: I just love it.
- 43:05Speaker 3: I mean, from the true college football fan on the bus, like,
- 43:08Speaker 3: you know, you've been a fan for.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Four years now?
- 43:15Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong.
- 43:16Speaker 3: I just feel like you're like, let fans fan, but
- 43:18Speaker 3: you're also like backtracking, being like, you shouldn't be on
- 43:22Speaker 3: the other side of the fence.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Yeah, tenure doesn't beat talent, dude. At the end of
- 43:25Speaker 1: the day, if you've been a fan for 30 years,
- 43:30Speaker 1: you walk in, you can be a fan of whoever,
- 43:33Speaker 1: but if you're a fan for two.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Three years.
- 43:37Speaker 1: But you love your program and you want your program
- 43:40Speaker 1: to win. You'll do a lot of things. You're talking
- 43:42Speaker 1: to boosters and the NIL fund to help them scout
- 43:46Speaker 1: and look at teams. Like, I'll do what I can.
- 43:49Speaker 1: for the University of Michigan. I've donated money to the
- 43:51Speaker 1: University of Michigan. Will also has donated money to the
- 43:56Speaker 1: University of Michigan. If you're a fan for a day
- 44:00Speaker 1: or for a century, and it's generation after generation, it
- 44:04Speaker 1: doesn't make you any better or worse as a fan. Agreed.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Okay.
- 44:07Speaker 1: So your comment just was out there for no reason?
- 44:09Speaker 1: Just want to put that in the ether?
- 44:11Speaker 7: A little bit. The Big Ten Conference struggled over the weekend.
- 44:16Speaker 7: The Big Ten Conference struggled over the weekend. We got
- 44:19Speaker 7: to talk about some of these games that took place.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Brutal.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Yeah. On top, we just talked about Michigan, but Michigan underperforming. Rutgers.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Oregon underperforming against Boise State. You got Rutgers that got
- 44:31Speaker 2: their ass beat by UMass. You got Washington against Washington State.
- 44:36Speaker 2: They were in a dogfight until they started to take
- 44:38Speaker 2: off in that fourth quarter. But I feel like there's,
- 44:40Speaker 2: you know, this whole conference. Overreaction Monday. Overreaction Monday. Overreaction Monday.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Let's overreact. Big Ten washed. Big Ten took a big
- 44:52Speaker 2: step back. Big step back. Big Ten sucks now, dude.
- 44:55Speaker 2: It's really the ACC and the SEC.
- 44:58Speaker 4: They went 16-2 in week one.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Washed.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Washed. Washed. But the 16 didn't look great. And it's
- 45:04Speaker 1: week one, so it's overreacted a little bit. Oregon, I
- 45:06Speaker 1: picked them to win the national championship. Did they look
- 45:08Speaker 1: like a national championship winner on Saturday?
- 45:10Speaker 2: No, sir. No, they did not. Penalties kind of took
- 45:12Speaker 2: a lot of teams down.
- 45:14Speaker 1: We talked about how great the Big Ten conference is.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Rutgers lost to UMass.
- 45:19Speaker 5: Horrendous no disrespect to umass by no disrespect okay mississippi
- 45:24Speaker 5: state down there bottom as you see like rutgers purdue
- 45:27Speaker 5: minnesota we get that game this weekend minnesota and mississippi
- 45:29Speaker 5: state that's.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Gonna be a good game actually it's gonna be actually
- 45:31Speaker 1: we'll see because because big tits washed they're cooked they're
- 45:35Speaker 1: done kevin's actual food's clean take bait 10 is done
- 45:39Speaker 1: dude week one of the season's over bait 10 is
- 45:42Speaker 1: cooked that's.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Not a meat shake that's a clean it just is
- 45:45Speaker 2: what it is man nebraska look I'll tell you this, though. Oregon.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Can't put my finger on that one. Best roster in
- 45:53Speaker 1: college football in a dogfight with Boise State. A lot
- 45:56Speaker 1: of respect for Boise State out there. Until you look
- 45:59Speaker 1: at last year and you realize that Oregon sucked the
- 46:01Speaker 1: first three.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Weeks as well. They didn't cover one time. They were
- 46:04Speaker 2: a slow-starting team. We'll be fine. Oh, okay, Glump. I forgot.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Fan how you want. Talent. Fan how you want. Thank you.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Don't keep my point.
- 46:13Speaker 1: I think you.
- 46:15Speaker 2: With the experience coming back on the roster that they
- 46:18Speaker 2: do have and the plan that's been in place there
- 46:19Speaker 2: with landing, running the ship, you know, landing is that
- 46:23Speaker 2: whole team is on their assholes are tight. Cause you
- 46:25Speaker 2: got 10 penalties shooting yourself in the foot. You're four
- 46:28Speaker 2: for 12 on third down. It's yeah. It's a slow start.
- 46:32Speaker 2: And you just, even though they, they have the history
- 46:35Speaker 2: of doing it the first three weeks last year, like
- 46:37Speaker 2: that is still the urgency has to be there. You
- 46:40Speaker 2: can't be having a close game with Boise state. And again,
- 46:42Speaker 2: no disrespect to Boise state, But if you are going
- 46:44Speaker 2: to be the team you think you are this year,
- 46:46Speaker 2: you got to come out faster than that. We got
- 46:48Speaker 2: too many guys with experience on this roster. We have
- 46:52Speaker 2: too much fucking talent to be shooting ourselves in the
- 46:55Speaker 2: foot with 10 penalties in a game.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Absolutely. I think if you look at the two OC
- 47:02Speaker 1: and DC leaving, It was kind of one of those
- 47:04Speaker 1: things that was briefly mentioned on this bus. You mentioned
- 47:06Speaker 1: it a few times.
- 47:07Speaker 2: I said, if I had to find anything and I'm
- 47:09Speaker 2: trying to reach, it would be the coordinator switches that
- 47:11Speaker 2: took place.
- 47:12Speaker 1: And we had a conversation with somebody on Saturday, pregame,
- 47:16Speaker 1: talking about how they had a conversation with Nick Saban.
- 47:18Speaker 1: He only had to deal with it once, but he
- 47:19Speaker 1: talked about how big of a deal that is. So
- 47:21Speaker 1: you look at this without looking at what happened last
- 47:24Speaker 1: year with how slow of a start they had. And
- 47:25Speaker 1: it's like, maybe that is a bigger issue than we thought.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Because from the defensive side of the ball, there should
- 47:30Speaker 1: be It should be very difficult to score on Oregon.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Should be very difficult to score. I was fired up
- 47:37Speaker 2: too because at halftime I took the live line and
- 47:41Speaker 2: Oregon was favorite at seven and a half. Oregon wins
- 47:44Speaker 2: by seven. They're right there to kick the field going,
- 47:46Speaker 2: I'm just... I wanted to just call Lanning in real
- 47:49Speaker 2: time and be like, buddy, kick the goddamn field goal. Yeah,
- 47:51Speaker 2: I get it, though. Kick the goddamn field goal. I
- 47:55Speaker 2: need this cover to happen.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Truly. But yeah, Big Ten's washed. They'll never recover from this.
- 48:03Speaker 1: I mean, even if you look at Ohio State and
- 48:05Speaker 1: Ball State in the first quarter, they didn't look too great.
- 48:07Speaker 1: They went three and out in their first series. So
- 48:09Speaker 1: who's to say that there's actually no contenders in the
- 48:12Speaker 1: Big Ten? There might be no contenders in the Big
- 48:14Speaker 1: Ten now.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Huskers looked good that last quarter and a half football.
- 48:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:18Speaker 1: But they struggled in the first half, so they're dead too, man.
- 48:21Speaker 2: They had some juice, the Huskers, at the end. Yeah,
- 48:23Speaker 2: they did. And it's the same thing. Like, Huskers had
- 48:26Speaker 2: nine penalties. Like, coming out of the halftime, that first
- 48:28Speaker 2: series where they caught a penalty. But after that, when
- 48:31Speaker 2: you play clean football, like Nebraska did a great job
- 48:34Speaker 2: running the ball. Jamal Rule. I mean, Mekhi Nelson. Nazae Hunter.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Fucking Calandria. They were moving the football. There's a lot
- 48:46Speaker 2: of good shit on tape. And again, people are texting
- 48:49Speaker 2: me being like, hey, Will, were you sweating during halftime? Yeah,
- 48:51Speaker 2: a little bit because the score was 14 to 13.
- 48:56Speaker 2: That second field goal that they had came off of
- 48:58Speaker 2: a face mask that happened when we sacked old buddy
- 49:02Speaker 2: going in and you just shoot yourself in the foot
- 49:04Speaker 2: over and over. And when you have penalties, because we
- 49:06Speaker 2: were running the football well even early in the game,
- 49:08Speaker 2: but you get penalties, you back up, you play behind
- 49:10Speaker 2: the sticks. But I am glad that last quarter and
- 49:12Speaker 2: a half did happen for them to come out and
- 49:14Speaker 2: eventually cover the entire game. yeah because you outscored them
- 49:17Speaker 2: 35 to 8 but I was sweating there for a
- 49:22Speaker 2: moment but it was all poise you know I got
- 49:24Speaker 2: people texting long season it's going to be a long game.
- 49:26Speaker 1: It's all good stay in the pocket the thing that
- 49:30Speaker 1: I was like wanting to get your opinion about is
- 49:32Speaker 1: Colangelo's body language on a couple of those routes there's
- 49:35Speaker 1: a few times he threw the ball guy like to
- 49:38Speaker 1: a place the guy wasn't at and he'd be verbally
- 49:41Speaker 1: assaulting somebody.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:42Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, I don't know. I know this team
- 49:45Speaker 2: really plays for this dude, Calandria. So you don't know
- 49:49Speaker 2: if he's like taking charge as far as leadership out there.
- 49:51Speaker 2: And there's an expectation of, Hey, you need to understand
- 49:53Speaker 2: this is where you have to be. Even a couple
- 49:56Speaker 2: of dropped balls that you had where he had, I just,
- 49:58Speaker 2: I like Calandria's swagger. I like his juice, him going through,
- 50:02Speaker 2: through progression. When he makes a decision, he makes a
- 50:04Speaker 2: decision and he rips it. And again, the running game
- 50:06Speaker 2: that we have, we moved the ball very well. And
- 50:09Speaker 2: Ohio was a, They're a tough team coming out of
- 50:13Speaker 2: the MAAC, but I was pleasantly surprised with how well
- 50:19Speaker 2: we started executing once we started playing penalty-free football. Nice.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Outside of the blown coverage, coming out of the first drive.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Dude was just standing there. That was wild. Not that
- 50:29Speaker 2: it was just a blown coverage, but my man just
- 50:31Speaker 2: stopped playing. It's almost like somebody put the controller down.
- 50:35Speaker 2: playing the video game yeah like he there wasn't even
- 50:38Speaker 2: finished there or anything else yeah yeah he.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Like saw i knew what to do but his body
- 50:41Speaker 1: kind of like.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Stepped out he kind of stepped outside and just turned
- 50:44Speaker 2: and watched it be thrown and then he doesn't just
- 50:47Speaker 2: take off sprinting right away and he's kind of thinking
- 50:48Speaker 2: like oh shit that that could possibly be my guy
- 50:51Speaker 2: oh it is my guy but outside of the blown
- 50:54Speaker 2: coverage and penalties that we kind of had like we
- 50:56Speaker 2: got rolling in the second half and i thought we
- 50:57Speaker 2: did a lot of good things i thought the old
- 50:59Speaker 2: line played pretty well uh and then we'll see because
- 51:01Speaker 2: we got You know, Bowling Green, I believe, this weekend.
- 51:04Speaker 2: North Dakota the weekend after that. And then we'll get
- 51:06Speaker 2: into conference play with Michigan State and Maryland, which Maryland
- 51:09Speaker 2: beat the breaks off of whoever they played. Michigan State
- 51:12Speaker 2: didn't look that good against Toledo. Another one that's kind
- 51:14Speaker 2: of put.
- 51:14Speaker 1: On the depth of the conference.
- 51:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that was one.
- 51:16Speaker 1: I remember it was Friday night, and I'm like looking
- 51:19Speaker 1: at my phone. I had a full nasty tweet put
- 51:20Speaker 1: out about Michigan State. Thank God I didn't post that.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Proud I didn't post that one. Yeah, yeah, like when
- 51:26Speaker 1: Toledo went.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Up in the second half. I just hate Michigan State, dude.
- 51:29Speaker 2: I really do. I know you do, bud. I can't
- 51:30Speaker 2: stand it.
- 51:32Speaker 1: But Baylor, Auburn, Sherm, I'm going to put you on
- 51:34Speaker 1: the mic for a second. Head to Big 12 country
- 51:37Speaker 1: right here and SEC. Everyone's on. Golish, Byron Brown, and
- 51:45Speaker 1: DJ Lagway. You had a weekend with your old man too, bro.
- 51:48Speaker 2: And DJ Lagway. Dude, a lot of fun.
- 51:52Speaker 4: I've truly never gone into a game with that much
- 51:56Speaker 4: nerves of excitement butterflies.
- 51:59Speaker 2: I was very excited.
- 52:03Speaker 4: Being a homer of a team, everybody's got a little
- 52:07Speaker 4: bit of that, oh, man, I don't think they see
- 52:10Speaker 4: what I see what we could be. I think we
- 52:13Speaker 4: could get eight wins in the Big 12. I think
- 52:15Speaker 4: we could do this and make some noise. The only
- 52:19Speaker 4: questions really was, is the defense going to be there?
- 52:22Speaker 4: Spavadol's had the offense there for the last... three years
- 52:25Speaker 4: looking nicey. And every single defensive play, I was just
- 52:29Speaker 4: watching our defensive line. And it was so much fun
- 52:33Speaker 4: watching the game from that aspect. I'm usually watching the
- 52:36Speaker 4: opponent's quarterback or trying to see if the wide receivers
- 52:40Speaker 4: are getting open. But I was watching our defensive line
- 52:42Speaker 4: every play and we looked really strong up front. Obviously,
- 52:47Speaker 4: don't get the result that you want. But I saw
- 52:50Speaker 4: a lot of things that got me really, really excited
- 52:53Speaker 4: for Baylor as far as the rest of this season goes.
- 52:57Speaker 2: I think there should be some optimism. I thought it
- 52:59Speaker 2: was a pretty underwhelming performance with Golish in that offense. Yeah.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Like we were kind of talking about the tempo aspect
- 53:04Speaker 2: before we jumped on the bus and knowing that they had,
- 53:08Speaker 2: you know, Baylor did a great job of keeping them
- 53:10Speaker 2: off the field. Like Byron Brown. I know there's, there
- 53:14Speaker 2: are some fun debates taking place before we all got
- 53:17Speaker 2: on the bus. But again, it was like the X
- 53:19Speaker 2: factor to me wasn't, I was very bullish on Golish
- 53:23Speaker 2: in that offense and them having tempo. But the way
- 53:26Speaker 2: you minimize that tempo is you went on first and
- 53:28Speaker 2: second down to where you're behind the change, and Baylor
- 53:31Speaker 2: did a great job of doing that. It's just, is
- 53:33Speaker 2: Baylor going to get there offensively with Lagway? Because Lagway,
- 53:37Speaker 2: there were those iterations of this is still the DJ
- 53:40Speaker 2: Lagway that came from Florida with, you know, he made
- 53:43Speaker 2: an incredible athletic feat jumping over old Buddy, but then
- 53:47Speaker 2: losing the football. throwing an interception, and then you guys
- 53:52Speaker 2: were right there. The play design on that last play
- 53:54Speaker 2: for that two-point conversion, it was there. They had urgency
- 53:57Speaker 2: getting to the line of scrimmage. You can tell that
- 54:00Speaker 2: Auburn was in a man coverage, a zero blitz, a
- 54:03Speaker 2: one blitz, whatever it was, they were man-to-man. They were
- 54:05Speaker 2: kind of discombobulated. They got to the line of scrimmage fast.
- 54:08Speaker 2: They had the right call, the right play design, and
- 54:11Speaker 2: the dude was going to be wide open because the
- 54:14Speaker 2: guy covering him was caught in the wash.
- 54:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:16Speaker 2: Number five just made a hell of a play coming
- 54:18Speaker 2: off of the point man, knowing that this dude was
- 54:20Speaker 2: going to run free out in the flat. If Lagway
- 54:23Speaker 2: just puts a little out in front, a little faster,
- 54:26Speaker 2: you guys win that game. But the defender for Auburn
- 54:29Speaker 2: just made a hell of a play coming off of
- 54:31Speaker 2: his assignment and going and making that tackle. You guys
- 54:35Speaker 2: were there, man. Right play call, right everything. We were.
- 54:38Speaker 4: And just to like romanticize it, because I love that
- 54:42Speaker 4: monologue that Josh did about the NIL and like everybody's
- 54:47Speaker 4: all crazy talking about NIL. But, you know, wait till
- 54:50Speaker 4: you're on that Saturday. You're there, you know, at the
- 54:53Speaker 4: goal line and the play's about to be called and
- 54:56Speaker 4: like time freezes. And that's what college football is all about.
- 54:59Speaker 2: And keep it alive on what, 4th and 10th, 4th
- 55:01Speaker 2: and 11th? 4th and 12th.
- 55:05Speaker 4: I did not watch that play. I covered my eyes.
- 55:08Speaker 4: I truly could not watch it. My dad was shaking me.
- 55:11Speaker 4: He was like, what the hell are you doing? I
- 55:13Speaker 4: was like, I think they have a better shot of
- 55:15Speaker 4: converting if I don't watch it. I don't know how
- 55:17Speaker 4: to explain that.
- 55:18Speaker 2: Can I just.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Read seven to nine text messages I received from Sherman
- 55:22Speaker 1: Young right after the game?
- 55:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You may.
- 55:25Speaker 1: These are all no context to them, but the first
- 55:27Speaker 1: one is, I high-key want to walk into the Cumberland
- 55:30Speaker 1: River and forget how to swim. Then it's Taylor, dot, dot, dot,
- 55:37Speaker 1: call a doctor. Not being dramatic. It's that bad. And
- 55:41Speaker 1: then the last one is I told Twitter I was
- 55:43Speaker 1: going to go to Magic City to get wings if
- 55:45Speaker 1: we lost. So that's during the first quarter of the
- 55:53Speaker 1: Michigan game and I'm like trying to be there for sure.
- 55:54Speaker 2: When Sherm said.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Taylor, dot, dot, dot, call a doctor, no joke, I'm like...
- 55:59Speaker 1: Is this the cry for help that I actually, do
- 56:01Speaker 1: I need to actually do something here? He left that
- 56:04Speaker 1: part out where you text him back.
- 56:06Speaker 2: You're like, Hey, are you all good? Yeah.
- 56:08Speaker 1: Cause you also didn't respond for like two minutes.
- 56:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:10Speaker 1: Yeah. And you're, you're pretty, you're firing him pretty fast.
- 56:13Speaker 2: I was like, I'm not kidding. I'm not kidding.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Call a doctor. And then it turned out all I
- 56:18Speaker 1: needed was a batch of boiled peanuts and no therapist.
- 56:21Speaker 2: And now he's fine. That's what I told him. I said,
- 56:23Speaker 2: both peanuts for the rest of the season. We're good.
- 56:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:25Speaker 4: But time kind of stopping. At that two-point conversion, it
- 56:30Speaker 4: was just like, that was worth the price of admission.
- 56:33Speaker 4: I know we lost, but that was a hell of
- 56:35Speaker 4: a game.
- 56:35Speaker 2: It was really fun.
- 56:36Speaker 1: I'll say this, dude. Overreaction week one. My overreaction to
- 56:40Speaker 1: that game is that Auburn is really bad and Baylor's
- 56:43Speaker 1: going to do some work in the Big 12. That
- 56:46Speaker 1: was kind of my takeaway because I had high expectations
- 56:47Speaker 1: going in for Auburn.
- 56:48Speaker 2: Yeah. But it's overreaction.
- 56:50Speaker 1: It's overreaction week one.
- 56:51Speaker 2: It's overreaction.
- 56:52Speaker 4: Byron Brown could come out next week and weep.
- 56:55Speaker 2: Light it up. I feel like they'll get the offense
- 56:57Speaker 2: going a little bit. You know who's hot right now?
- 56:58Speaker 6: Florida.
- 56:59Speaker 2: Hot right now? Mensah and Malachi Toney.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:03Speaker 2: That offense was humming, bro. Still questions on the line
- 57:06Speaker 2: of scrimmage. They couldn't run the ball very well. Probably
- 57:09Speaker 2: as successful as they wanted to. But my God, bro. Mensah.
- 57:14Speaker 2: The vertical attack that they have, Malachi, Tony. It was
- 57:16Speaker 2: fun to watch. They were awesome.
- 57:19Speaker 1: And Malachi's awareness, dude, when they throw that quick little
- 57:22Speaker 1: slant in the low red and he catches the ball
- 57:24Speaker 1: and the linebacker's going to hit him, he just kind
- 57:26Speaker 1: of boop, out of the end zone, back in the
- 57:28Speaker 1: end zone.
- 57:28Speaker 2: He's got the sauce, bro. This dude's awareness is incredible.
- 57:30Speaker 4: It wasn't even a juke.
- 57:32Speaker 1: It was just like a went by him. Yeah, it
- 57:34Speaker 1: was nothing. It looked like he just kept going straight
- 57:37Speaker 1: but just decided to real quick. And like no stride
- 57:40Speaker 1: changed anything. And being around him in the spring, like
- 57:42Speaker 1: during spring practice, when he got to go down to
- 57:44Speaker 1: Coral Gables and hang out in Miami and see the
- 57:47Speaker 1: way he operated, first one on the field, catching jugs,
- 57:49Speaker 1: his schedule being up at 5.30 in the morning, doing jugs.
- 57:52Speaker 2: Catching 100 balls.
- 57:53Speaker 1: Like that is... That kind of work ethic, and dude,
- 57:57Speaker 1: all the things he did from a stat line is
- 57:59Speaker 1: absolutely great, but there were multiple times in the run
- 58:01Speaker 1: game that he locked up a guy that was head
- 58:03Speaker 1: and shoulders taller than him and dumped him.
- 58:05Speaker 2: On the ground.
- 58:06Speaker 1: Like, that's the kind of effort.
- 58:07Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 58:07Speaker 1: And the kind of tenacity and the fire you want
- 58:10Speaker 1: to see out of a guy like Malachi Toney.
- 58:12Speaker 2: And he's hitting like, because, you know, Mensah, he became
- 58:14Speaker 2: the favorite the next day in Heisman odds because he
- 58:16Speaker 2: threw for like a billion yards.
- 58:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:19Speaker 2: Only had three incompletions, 27 for 30. Malachi Toney hitting
- 58:23Speaker 2: the Heisman. You got Jeremiah Smith hitting the Heisman. A
- 58:26Speaker 2: couple guys that will be in the race just letting
- 58:28Speaker 2: them know, like, hey, these skill positions, we got juice
- 58:30Speaker 2: out here.
- 58:31Speaker 1: I'll tell you what, dude. Jeremiah Smith. We just give
- 58:33Speaker 1: a lot of flowers to Malachi Toney. That little double
- 58:37Speaker 1: move he does in the first quarter, I mean, that
- 58:39Speaker 1: safety bites so hard he should have never, I mean,
- 58:43Speaker 1: and just flew past him. flew past him he's a
- 58:46Speaker 1: grown man shout out julian saying as well like a
- 58:49Speaker 1: lot of big shot on him was like guys are
- 58:50Speaker 1: wide open all the time like that he was that
- 58:51Speaker 1: was not a wide open throw down field and he's
- 58:54Speaker 1: getting hit as he throws it and it's a dot
- 58:56Speaker 1: that pisses me off but you still got to get
- 58:58Speaker 1: flowers where they have to be man yeah it is
- 59:01Speaker 1: what it is yeah week one overreaction you have it
- 59:04Speaker 1: highlighted right now SEC or Big Ten argument. Right now,
- 59:06Speaker 1: SEC is a large, is what, number one by far
- 59:11Speaker 1: by a large margin?
- 59:13Speaker 2: Has to be. Yeah, people are going to be loud
- 59:14Speaker 2: all week, but we get some good matchups this weekend
- 59:17Speaker 2: with Mississippi State going up to Minnesota. That quarterback is
- 59:23Speaker 2: unreal for Mississippi State. What's his name? Kamario Taylor. Camario
- 59:28Speaker 2: Taylor threw a bomb. It was like a hundred yard pass.
- 59:31Speaker 2: Like flat footed going up in the line of scrimmage
- 59:33Speaker 2: kind of stops. And it looks like he's just, he's
- 59:35Speaker 2: square shouldered and just zips at about 60 yards downfield.
- 59:38Speaker 2: No way. It was nuts, but he's a stud. And
- 59:42Speaker 2: then you got Texas and Ohio State this weekend. That
- 59:44Speaker 2: is going to be juicy out in Austin, Texas.
- 59:46Speaker 1: Yeah, the game of the week, dude. Oklahoma, Michigan, and
- 59:51Speaker 1: Ann Arbor.
- 59:51Speaker 2: So some good head-to-heads for just the internet to argue about.
- 59:55Speaker 2: It'll be fun to revisit next week to see.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Some flowers we need to give. Faison Brandin.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: Yes, bro. What a debut.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Keelan Russell as well at Alabama, but two guys getting
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: their first start in the SEC. Those boys did not disappoint.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: As a Tennessee fan, you've got to be sitting there
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: feeling really good. Yeah, I mean, FCS opponent, so you're
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: kind of being chill. Yeah, but you want to look
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: at it and be like, all right, what's this quarterback
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: we have not seen in live action? How does he
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: handle business?
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: The mistakes being minimal were great.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: The stat that I've been seeing floating around, First college
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: player for first college debut since Cam Newton to throw
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: for three touchdowns and run for two. That's obviously fun.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: This week coming up versus Georgia Tech will be an
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: actual game. So that's where I feel we'll see.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: What he's made of.
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: But, yeah, very exciting week one to see Faison Brandon
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: be able to put on the helmet and be the
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: guy for now.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: We'll see. Not trying to overreact in the slightest.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Week one overreaction.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: I'm trying to week one underreaction. He is Cam Newton. Yeah.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Faison Brown is Cam Newton. Week one overreaction.
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: Quote graphic.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Done.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Put it up there. All right. I have an overreaction.
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: Just one quick one I want to touch on. You
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: mentioned Georgia Tech. Shout out to Deion Sanders getting a
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: big win over Georgia Tech.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: Everyone writing him off. I got to give Deion some love.
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: I think Deion Sanders gets a lot of hate, but
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: I love Deion, so shout out to Deion Sanders.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: And all the hate they get in the offseason about
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: how small their team looks, but then they dominated the
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: line of scrimmage during that game as well. When you thought, like,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: The edge by far goes to Georgia Tech on running
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: the football. Justice Hayes, they had a bunch of big boys.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I think they were top 20 in size for an
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: offensive line. Georgia Tech had all the edge, and Colorado,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: the low-key, bullied them.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Yeah, and then Georgia Tech, penalties again. Three turnovers. There's
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: a little bit of a screw job with that fumble
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: that Georgia Tech took back to the house. But, dude,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: Deion having Colorado ready to go and coming out on
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: top of that game when it seemed like it was–
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: People were heavy on Georgia Tech because that one was
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: at like six and a half. I was. Dude won
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: at Ole Miss, bro.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Did South Dakota State win?
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: Or did they cover? Idaho State? Idaho State?
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: No, South Dakota State as well.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: South Dakota State did not cover.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Idaho State not only covered, but they won outright. That
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: was his judgment game.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: That was his what?
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: His judgment game. With South Dakota State.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: With you guys?
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: We were like, yeah, when we was on the bus,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: we're going to know. How much ball Cody really knows
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: based on South Dakota State. That one was a backdoor cover.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: It was a touchdown game going into the last, I think,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: 90 seconds. Northwestern scores another one late. But yeah, shout
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: out to Idaho State. Shout out to Idaho State, man.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Idaho State getting it done, man.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I was fired up about it. He kept showing
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: me how the old Idaho State bagels were doing. The
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: home that Charlie Ragle built, dude. And then, oh, man,
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: last night I'm sitting there in Ole Miss being up
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: a smooth 14 and then losing the entire blow in
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: the cover. Losing the blow in the cover.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: God.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: Come on, fellas. It makes the game so beautiful. It
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: is what makes the game beautiful. All right, boys.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: We feel good. College football recap in the books. First
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: one of the year. Let's give a round of applause
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: for that, huh?
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: Yes, sir. We will be back in the college football atmosphere.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: Wednesday evening when we do the locker room with Josh Bate,
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: we're talking big games. We'll dive into Oklahoma, Michigan, Texas,
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Ohio State, several others. I believe we have six on
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: the slate. Tap into that. Bustin' with the Boys will
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: drop tomorrow. We have our Hall of Fame slate, the
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: new Hall of Fame class and roster. We sat down
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: to talk to Luke Keekly, Fitzgerald, Vinatieri, Drew Brees. Those
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: will all drop tomorrow. But We're on all week long.
