- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. Hello and welcome into the NFL
- 0:18Speaker 1: Network news room alongside Steve White Chamomice and this is
- 0:22Speaker 1: NFL Now and rewarding our patients for watching that game
- 0:25Speaker 1: last night. Steve, we get Chiefs, Bills, Dallas Philly. This
- 0:29Speaker 1: Sunday blockbuster type of weeks. I mean, that's like, thank
- 0:33Speaker 1: goodness we have those. I mean, look the Bills a Chiefs.
- 0:36Speaker 1: If it's anything like that playoff game, even half of it,
- 0:38Speaker 1: we're in for a treat. And I love the divisional
- 0:40Speaker 1: matchup between the Eagles and Cowboys. I want to see
- 0:44Speaker 1: Dallas's defense against this Eagles offense a prime one strength
- 0:48Speaker 1: to get strength. Yeah, awesome matchups there. We're also gonna
- 0:50Speaker 1: have Patriots running back Ramondre Stevenson joining us this hour.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Get his thoughts on the Patriots matchup with the Cleveland
- 0:57Speaker 1: brown Speaking of the Cleveland Browns, lot to get to
- 1:00Speaker 1: on the injury front for more, we bring in our insiders,
- 1:04Speaker 1: Ian rapp Report and Tom Pellicero now with our Friday
- 1:08Speaker 1: injury round up. The Browns part of that crew. But
- 1:11Speaker 1: first Ian, we're gonna start with news on the Dolphins
- 1:15Speaker 1: quarterback situation. Yeah, we'll forget the fact that you kind
- 1:19Speaker 1: of forgot my name a little bit there, and I
- 1:21Speaker 1: was wondering what you're gonna go with the rappaport works
- 1:23Speaker 1: will go with that. It's been my name I don't
- 1:25Speaker 1: know most of my life. Yes, let's get to the
- 1:27Speaker 1: Dolphins quarterbacks. And we already learned earlier earlier this week
- 1:30Speaker 1: that Skyler Thompson, the seventh round rookie, expected to start
- 1:34Speaker 1: for the Miami Dolphins, which, you know, something that Mike
- 1:37Speaker 1: McDaniel could have kept the secret, could have kind of
- 1:39Speaker 1: played the game, decided not to. So he is going
- 1:42Speaker 1: to do the starter. It's really the question right now,
- 1:44Speaker 1: who's going to be his backup? So to a talk
- 1:46Speaker 1: about low the started for the Dolphins. Still in the
- 1:48Speaker 1: NFL's concussion protocol even if the clears not expected to
- 1:52Speaker 1: play this week. Chance and next week we'll see how
- 1:54Speaker 1: that goes, but not gonna play this week. Petty Bridgewater,
- 1:57Speaker 1: the backup quarterback, also in the concussion protocol. Despite passing
- 2:01Speaker 1: concussion tests last week. He might clear before the game,
- 2:05Speaker 1: but he has only practiced starting on Thursday, did not
- 2:07Speaker 1: get many reps. If he's cleared, he would be the
- 2:10Speaker 1: backup to Scotwan Thompson, not the starter. It's been one
- 2:14Speaker 1: of these kind of mornings in a lot of caffeine
- 2:18Speaker 1: there to get go and say you got the same thing,
- 2:20Speaker 1: and you can appreciate that, Tom caffeine in there kind
- 2:24Speaker 1: of acted like it might be something else. Oh, I
- 2:27Speaker 1: assure you. It's a big, frontloaded thing of caffeine there
- 2:31Speaker 1: straight to the veins. Meanwhile, in Cleveland, big question marks
- 2:34Speaker 1: on their defense. What's the latest on their injury front? Well,
- 2:37Speaker 1: for the Browns, they're gonna be missing two of their
- 2:38Speaker 1: key pieces on that defense. One of them Mr Devian Clowney.
- 2:41Speaker 1: He has been ruled out for this game, a mild
- 2:44Speaker 1: surprise just because Clownie did play last week. He's been
- 2:47Speaker 1: in and out the line of course, that's been part
- 2:48Speaker 1: of the story of his career. He's currently dealing with ankle, knee,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and elbow injury, so he is not gonna be available
- 2:55Speaker 1: this week. Neither is cornerback Denzel Ward, who has been
- 2:58Speaker 1: in concussion protocols. So two important pieces of that defense
- 3:01Speaker 1: we're not gonna be out there this week. Yeah, one
- 3:05Speaker 1: of the bigger questions injury questions RELI over the last
- 3:07Speaker 1: couple of weeks, what about the status of Mac Jones.
- 3:10Speaker 1: The Patriots started dealing with a pretty significant high ankle
- 3:13Speaker 1: Spring was out of practice today on no doubt, practicing
- 3:16Speaker 1: on a limited basis. And you know, coach Bill Belichick
- 3:19Speaker 1: has been asked, you know, it seems like a hundred
- 3:21Speaker 1: times or so, what's the status of Mac Jones. He
- 3:23Speaker 1: said he's getting better, said he's progressing, did more this
- 3:26Speaker 1: week than last week. But he's been asked about whether
- 3:29Speaker 1: or not he is the starter. And one thing, Belichick,
- 3:31Speaker 1: this is not going to process for everyone else. Uh,
- 3:33Speaker 1: he's not gonna comment and talk about as the guy's starters.
- 3:37Speaker 1: He's not a starter when he doesn't have the full
- 3:39Speaker 1: injury information. The guy has him in clearance. Well, TBD
- 3:42Speaker 1: on that one. I would expect Jones to be the
- 3:45Speaker 1: starter when he's healthy, just not quite healthy yet, all right, Tom.
- 3:48Speaker 1: The Colts coming off that Thursday night football overtime win
- 3:51Speaker 1: last week without a couple of their marquee names, what's
- 3:54Speaker 1: the latest on some of their superstars? Well, marsh Kill
- 3:57Speaker 1: Leonard is going to be out again for this week's game,
- 4:00Speaker 1: the second consecutive game he's missed and suffering a concussion
- 4:03Speaker 1: and a broken nose, a coach Frank Ryk revealed required surgery.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Quitty Pay who was also injured last week, he is
- 4:10Speaker 1: not going to play this week, but it sounds like
- 4:12Speaker 1: Jonathan Taylor, as right put it, at least has a
- 4:15Speaker 1: chance to be available this week. Taylor has been dealing
- 4:18Speaker 1: with a lot over the past couple of weeks. First
- 4:20Speaker 1: it was a minor turf toe deal, then he injured
- 4:23Speaker 1: his ankle. The test of revealed he doesn't have a
- 4:25Speaker 1: significant injury here, but he was not available last week
- 4:29Speaker 1: obviously on the short week for the Thursday night game.
- 4:32Speaker 1: The hope he was on the field today for practice.
- 4:35Speaker 1: The hope is he's going to be ready, but remember
- 4:37Speaker 1: this is a long season. That's the most important player
- 4:40Speaker 1: on their team, arguably in Jonathan Taylor. They're certainly going
- 4:43Speaker 1: to be cautious with his status going forward, and so
- 4:45Speaker 1: we'll monitor that all the way up until Sunday. Yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 1: they could use all the help they can get against
- 4:49Speaker 1: the Jaguars team that beat them twenty four nothing week two. Meanwhile,
- 4:53Speaker 1: the forty beat down the Panthers pretty good last Sunday,
- 4:56Speaker 1: but it was a costly win. All the injuries there,
- 4:59Speaker 1: what's the latest on some of the forty niners big names?
- 5:02Speaker 1: You know? Start with Nick Bosa, the biggest name who
- 5:04Speaker 1: was injured and really the biggest name we are tracking
- 5:06Speaker 1: because it does seem theoretically at least that he has
- 5:08Speaker 1: a chance to play this week. He hadn't practice at
- 5:10Speaker 1: all earlier in the week, but he was out there
- 5:13Speaker 1: doing light individual drills today. He's officially listed as questionable,
- 5:17Speaker 1: which we'll see what that means. The forty Niners listed
- 5:19Speaker 1: George Kittle is questionable twice without him really having a
- 5:22Speaker 1: chance to play, So we'll see if Bosa follows the
- 5:24Speaker 1: same script or whether or not he actually has a
- 5:27Speaker 1: chance to play. TBD on that one. A couple of
- 5:29Speaker 1: defensive starters who are not going to play. Eric Armstead
- 5:32Speaker 1: is dealing with planter fasciitis, also an ankle injury. He
- 5:36Speaker 1: did not practice this week. He has been ruled out,
- 5:38Speaker 1: and then Javon kin Law, their first round defensive tackle
- 5:41Speaker 1: from a couple of years back, again dealing with a
- 5:43Speaker 1: knee injury. No practice this week also ruled out forty
- 5:47Speaker 1: Niners practicing in West Virginia this week at the Greenbrier
- 5:50Speaker 1: staying there ahead of their game against the Falcons, and Ian,
- 5:54Speaker 1: I didn't forget your name, and we are not going
- 5:57Speaker 1: to forget the tenth anniversary, one of the great moments
- 6:00Speaker 1: in your history of television, preparing for the Packers Tech
- 6:04Speaker 1: Londay night game. Oh, head on a swivel. There. I mean,
- 6:11Speaker 1: it gets better every time I've seen I've probably seen it,
- 6:13Speaker 1: I would say a hundred and fifty to two hundred
- 6:15Speaker 1: times by now, maybe three. The most frustrating thing is
- 6:19Speaker 1: how humongous my suit is your Your face still looks
- 6:23Speaker 1: the same, even though you've had two kids since maybe
- 6:25Speaker 1: you'd have gray hair like me and Steve, But no,
- 6:28Speaker 1: you still look at I'm about to say, get him, Tom,
- 6:31Speaker 1: it's up for you. Yeah, no, it's it's plastic surgery,
- 6:34Speaker 1: which is fine. I'm just up frid about it. Plastic
- 6:36Speaker 1: surgery and a lot of makeup, A lot of make up,
- 6:39Speaker 1: no hair dyed though, hairs on that trip. Yeah, there
- 6:41Speaker 1: you go. At least he's so so so. Here's the
- 6:42Speaker 1: deal that so so? Tom. I want to know because
- 6:45Speaker 1: you probably have the inside scoop on this. Is Ian
- 6:47Speaker 1: at home all the time now because he requested because
- 6:51Speaker 1: that was just like so bad for him, Like he's
- 6:53Speaker 1: just like I, I can't go through that again. Or
- 6:55Speaker 1: if he goes on the sideline, does he now have
- 6:57Speaker 1: a hired hunt catcher to protect situations like this? I
- 7:02Speaker 1: believe the issue is just that Ian's terrible speaking on
- 7:05Speaker 1: the sideline and doing that job. Didn't your mom? Ian
- 7:08Speaker 1: wants tell you that she didn't like how you sounded
- 7:10Speaker 1: when you script out your hits and I remember that
- 7:12Speaker 1: story correctly. Oh that is harsh. He's pull out my mom.
- 7:17Speaker 1: The most important thing my mom has ever told me
- 7:20Speaker 1: is one she didn't like always sound in the when
- 7:21Speaker 1: I scripted and to my ears get read when I'm
- 7:24Speaker 1: on TV, so I gotta put makeup on my ears.
- 7:26Speaker 1: A classic for all time chiefs, And of course ended
- 7:30Speaker 1: up pulling this one out in overtime. Thanks for that
- 7:32Speaker 1: Travis Kelsey catch. And here is a look at the
- 7:35Speaker 1: numbers by the quarterbacks. Seven touchdowns, zero interceptions by these
- 7:40Speaker 1: two superstars Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes for much more
- 7:44Speaker 1: in this matchup. Let's welcome back are Mark Ross and
- 7:47Speaker 1: Mark Travis Kelsey coming off a game Monday night where
- 7:50Speaker 1: he scored four touchdowns, How does he get even close
- 7:54Speaker 1: to some sort of replication in this game on Sunday, well,
- 7:58Speaker 1: he definitely won't get four, oh mart, He's still running
- 8:01Speaker 1: free of that defense that they were playing against him.
- 8:03Speaker 1: But who will step up if the Bills say, you
- 8:07Speaker 1: know what, We're just going to completely take Travis Kelsey
- 8:10Speaker 1: out of this game. And this is the big X
- 8:12Speaker 1: factor where Tyreek Hill last year you had him making
- 8:16Speaker 1: big plays in that comeback last year against the Bills.
- 8:19Speaker 1: It was Tyreek Hill and the Kelsey show. So now
- 8:22Speaker 1: Kelsey's out of there, who can step up or who
- 8:25Speaker 1: is capable of stepping stepping up? Visit juju is an mvs.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Will it be Clyde Edwards Hilaire coming out of the backfield,
- 8:32Speaker 1: running and receiving out of the backfield? Will it be
- 8:35Speaker 1: my guy sky Moore who got into the mix at
- 8:37Speaker 1: the end of the game last week? If are they
- 8:39Speaker 1: setting setting up this game for him to kind of
- 8:41Speaker 1: have a surprise appearance there? So I think by I
- 8:45Speaker 1: don't think there's one player there who can obviously replicate
- 8:48Speaker 1: Tyreek Hill. But when the Chiefs constructed this team in
- 8:51Speaker 1: the off season, it was we're going to do this
- 8:53Speaker 1: by committee. So I would expect to see that against
- 8:57Speaker 1: the Bills, to say one of these guys will have
- 8:59Speaker 1: to make key plays, a lot of those key plays,
- 9:02Speaker 1: not just one of them. Yeah, both of these offenses
- 9:04Speaker 1: could put up major points. And it really is a
- 9:06Speaker 1: contrast in styles. In the past game. Kansas City's tight
- 9:10Speaker 1: ends and running backs lead the league in receiving yards
- 9:13Speaker 1: and touchdowns, while the Bills receivers leave the receivers in
- 9:16Speaker 1: receiving yards and touchdowns. As for Buffalo, this is one
- 9:20Speaker 1: of those games that all the off season that they
- 9:23Speaker 1: put in construction that roster is for. How do they respond,
- 9:27Speaker 1: you think on Sunday. Yeah, to be the man, you
- 9:30Speaker 1: have to beat the man omar and Kansas City has
- 9:33Speaker 1: been the man in the a f C over the
- 9:35Speaker 1: past three or four years with Patrick Mahomes and specifically
- 9:39Speaker 1: against the Bills and Josh Allen. He's three and one.
- 9:42Speaker 1: So look, the Bills have been looking at this and
- 9:44Speaker 1: say how do we beat the Chiefs And they've gone
- 9:47Speaker 1: out and gotten von Miller. That was the number one
- 9:49Speaker 1: off season signing that they said, we need someone to
- 9:52Speaker 1: get stops. We just need one play, a big play
- 9:55Speaker 1: by von Miller to make a stop against Patrick Mahomes
- 9:59Speaker 1: and that's how they were built. So really, this is
- 10:02Speaker 1: the game to say are we the team now? Or
- 10:05Speaker 1: is the Chiefs still the team? But even so, no
- 10:07Speaker 1: matter who wins this game, Old Mark, I think we're
- 10:09Speaker 1: going to see this team, uh see these two teams
- 10:12Speaker 1: face each other in the playoffs, hopefully the AMC Championship game,
- 10:15Speaker 1: but even for years to come, because this, to me
- 10:18Speaker 1: is the modern Brady Manning. Mahomes Allen is the modern
- 10:22Speaker 1: day Brady Manning. We're gonna have a lot of years
- 10:24Speaker 1: of excitement with these two quarterbacks and these two teams.
- 10:28Speaker 1: That one a warm up for Sunday night showdown in Philly.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Cooper Rush, he slaid one NFC East Giant earlier this season?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Does he have the right recipe that the Birds? Those
- 10:40Speaker 1: answers coming up? Fin NFL? Now, y'all know what week
- 10:47Speaker 1: it is. The Egos tweeting Fly Eagles Fly. They are
- 10:51Speaker 1: ready to welcome in the Dallas Cowboys. No love lost
- 10:55Speaker 1: between these two teams, we know that. And Tank Lawrence
- 10:58Speaker 1: he's tired of hearing about the Eagles offense. It will
- 11:03Speaker 1: be a good test for us, you know what I'm saying.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I feel like you know, they do have a pretty
- 11:07Speaker 1: good offense. Um. You know, they got got a good
- 11:09Speaker 1: receiver corps um, good quarterback, you know, good offensive line,
- 11:13Speaker 1: so you know they will around it. But also we
- 11:17Speaker 1: don't boys, remember that y'all asking me questions like I
- 11:20Speaker 1: should be worried about them. You know, never worried, never
- 11:24Speaker 1: from any situation. But I just want you all to
- 11:27Speaker 1: understand that. You know we're coming to play too, alright.
- 11:30Speaker 1: For more on this matchup, Jane Slater and Jim Trotter.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Can't wait for this one, Jane. We know about the
- 11:35Speaker 1: high flying Eagles, the receivers that Jalen Hurts has been
- 11:39Speaker 1: on point with, but it's the running game that still
- 11:41Speaker 1: dominates games at times. What's the key for the Cowboys
- 11:44Speaker 1: defense in slowing that run game down? Well? I think
- 11:47Speaker 1: it starts. Obviously they've got aggressive front seven. But what
- 11:50Speaker 1: are they gonna do with Micah Parsons. He's been dealing
- 11:52Speaker 1: at the growing injury this week, But even with the
- 11:54Speaker 1: growing injury and the game against the Rams, he had
- 11:56Speaker 1: two sacks and that one what he had three QB
- 11:58Speaker 1: hits and a forced fumble, so he was still playing
- 12:01Speaker 1: lights out in that one. I'm gonna be curious see
- 12:03Speaker 1: if they employ a spy, you know, another words, a
- 12:05Speaker 1: defensive player that shadows Jalen Hurts this game. The problem
- 12:08Speaker 1: is you do that, then that exposes you in the
- 12:11Speaker 1: passing game. Of course, they've got threats like a J.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Brown that he can get the ball too, But I
- 12:15Speaker 1: think Jalen Hurts is gonna be their biggest challenge defensively
- 12:18Speaker 1: for them this season. Still the Cowboys. When you look
- 12:21Speaker 1: at last week, the Rams didn't necessarily have the sort
- 12:24Speaker 1: of rushing threat that say the Giants did, but they
- 12:26Speaker 1: did a great job there. And then the last five
- 12:28Speaker 1: games they're only allowing teams to put up less than
- 12:31Speaker 1: fifteen points this season. So, as DeMarcus Lawrence said to
- 12:33Speaker 1: you right there, it's gonna be a really good test
- 12:36Speaker 1: for this defense. Cooper Rush, as I said earlier, isn't
- 12:39Speaker 1: putting up the gaudy stats, but that defense sure is. Yeah,
- 12:42Speaker 1: the defense playing lights out under Dan Quinn. It was
- 12:44Speaker 1: remarkable last week seeing Michael Parsons stretch wins with Payne
- 12:49Speaker 1: and still be as explosive as he was. Meanwhile, Jim
- 12:52Speaker 1: the Cowboys rushing attacks still looking explosive at times with
- 12:56Speaker 1: both Zeke Elliott and Tony Pollard. What's the key for
- 12:59Speaker 1: Philly to slow that rushing attack down? You know, Omar,
- 13:02Speaker 1: I really believe it's no sguard. Jordan Davis the key
- 13:05Speaker 1: for the Eagles now. Look, according to next Gen Status,
- 13:08Speaker 1: when he has been on the field for the for
- 13:10Speaker 1: fifty three rushes, they've allowed only three point eight yards
- 13:13Speaker 1: per carry. When he has been off the field, they
- 13:16Speaker 1: have allowed an average of six yards per rush on
- 13:19Speaker 1: fifty three rushes. Now, that's two more than when he
- 13:23Speaker 1: is on the field. So from that standpoint, that's important
- 13:25Speaker 1: because Dallas clearly has been leaning on the rush while
- 13:29Speaker 1: Dak Prescott has been out last four games, they have
- 13:32Speaker 1: run the ball a hundred and twenty times. They have
- 13:34Speaker 1: thrown the ball a hundred and five times. That's in
- 13:37Speaker 1: stark contrast a week one when Prescott was on the
- 13:39Speaker 1: field and they attempted forty two passes and only eighteen rushes. Rushes. Now,
- 13:45Speaker 1: Davis has been getting better every week, and coach Nick
- 13:47Speaker 1: Sirianni said he is coming off his best game of
- 13:49Speaker 1: the year last week against the Cardinals at six six
- 13:52Speaker 1: three thirty six. And I believe that's a conservative way.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Um he has opened up things for other players by
- 13:59Speaker 1: occupying blockers on the interior, and that's created more opportunities
- 14:03Speaker 1: on the edge. And so from that stand when I
- 14:05Speaker 1: believe he is going to be one of the keys
- 14:08Speaker 1: in terms of stopping this Dallas run. Yeah, they're hoping
- 14:10Speaker 1: Jordan Davis can get that dog in him. Speaking of
- 14:13Speaker 1: who let the dogs out? Is that you, Jane? I
- 14:16Speaker 1: know both of you had dogs. Oh dear here in
- 14:20Speaker 1: mine when I've got these noise canceling uh earpieces and
- 14:23Speaker 1: I can't hear anything, but yeah, I think we both
- 14:25Speaker 1: have our dogs going off today. Yeah, I don't even
- 14:30Speaker 1: hear it anymore. Go follow Jane Slater on Instagram. You
- 14:33Speaker 1: could see her dogs. They're the cutest things. I know.
- 14:36Speaker 1: My daughters love them, and we're hearing from them today.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Jane Slater, Jim Trotter, thank you very much. Of course,
- 14:43Speaker 1: the Eagles the only undefeated team right now in the
- 14:45Speaker 1: National Football League five and oh their first five and
- 14:48Speaker 1: oh start since the two thousand four season, and of
- 14:51Speaker 1: course that year they reached the Super Bowl. So of
- 14:54Speaker 1: course whenever the last team in the league is undefeated,
- 14:57Speaker 1: we get comparisons to the seventy two Dolphins. Of course,
- 15:00Speaker 1: this is the fiftieth anniversary of the Miami Dolphins. And
- 15:04Speaker 1: here's a look through five games at these two teams.
- 15:06Speaker 1: You see very similar numbers with the rushing attack, the
- 15:09Speaker 1: points per game, the turnover differential stands out as well
- 15:13Speaker 1: as the point differential. And there are the Dolphins celebrating
- 15:17Speaker 1: fifty years, the anniversary of the seventy two perfect season
- 15:21Speaker 1: seventeen and ohs still the only undefeated season in NFL
- 15:27Speaker 1: history still to come. Here on NFL Now, we're gonna
- 15:30Speaker 1: welcome in Ramandre Stevenson, new England Patriots running back. He
- 15:36Speaker 1: joins us next on NFL Now, coming off that huge
- 15:39Speaker 1: game last week against the Lions. Patriots running back Ramondre
- 15:51Speaker 1: Stevenson setting a career high last week against the Detroit
- 15:55Speaker 1: Lions with a hundred sixty one yards carries in a
- 16:00Speaker 1: twenty nine nothing win over Detroit. Now, the Patriots are
- 16:03Speaker 1: getting ready to face the Cleveland Browns this week, and
- 16:06Speaker 1: we are proud and welcome into mind Romandre Stevenson to
- 16:11Speaker 1: NFL Now alongside Steve White. Romandre, congratulations on that game.
- 16:15Speaker 1: What was clicking for you on Sunday there against Detroit? Yeah,
- 16:20Speaker 1: nice to be here first of all. But last week
- 16:23Speaker 1: it was just my old line working super hard and
- 16:25Speaker 1: then the game plan we came in with. I feel
- 16:27Speaker 1: like we just had to execute that and we did
- 16:29Speaker 1: a good job of that. Roding. You mentioned your offensive
- 16:31Speaker 1: line because I wanted to get to get you about that,
- 16:33Speaker 1: because look, they've they've done a good job in protection
- 16:36Speaker 1: this year for the quarterback, the run blocking. What has
- 16:39Speaker 1: worked with that unit with some of the changes that
- 16:42Speaker 1: you guys have had to make this offseason. I feel
- 16:44Speaker 1: like this the coaching staff, Matty p and Billy Age
- 16:48Speaker 1: just with the old line just making it as easy
- 16:50Speaker 1: as possible so they could they know who they blocked
- 16:52Speaker 1: and just could play fast and just get to the
- 16:54Speaker 1: second level as quick as possible. And they just work
- 16:57Speaker 1: car every day, so there's no surprise. Really, Romandre Damien
- 17:00Speaker 1: Harris is banged up, gonna miss a couple of weeks.
- 17:03Speaker 1: And it seems like for yous now and covering the Patriots,
- 17:06Speaker 1: there's about three or four different running backs every single
- 17:10Speaker 1: year that at one time or another are called to
- 17:12Speaker 1: pick up a big role in this offense. How do
- 17:15Speaker 1: you guys stay fresh and stay ready when your name
- 17:18Speaker 1: is called? Uh? Just just everybody on this team prepared
- 17:22Speaker 1: like they're playing that week. So it's really no no
- 17:25Speaker 1: mix up or anything. Just easy. Got to be prepared.
- 17:27Speaker 1: And I feel like, especially in our room, we're very prepared.
- 17:30Speaker 1: We're we're willing to learn, and we all just we
- 17:33Speaker 1: all bring something different to the table and we all
- 17:35Speaker 1: just feed off one another. So I feel like it's
- 17:37Speaker 1: a it's just a great situation. Not running background. Is
- 17:39Speaker 1: that a thing that's game planned specific, or is it
- 17:41Speaker 1: to keep you guys fresh, how you guys kind of
- 17:43Speaker 1: rotate throughout the year, just to keep us fresh. You know,
- 17:46Speaker 1: me and Damian I felt we have we do a
- 17:48Speaker 1: lot of things well, we do different we have different
- 17:50Speaker 1: skills set things like that. So it's just it's just
- 17:53Speaker 1: getting us out there and just doing what we what
- 17:55Speaker 1: we gotta do is is not a game plan thing,
- 17:57Speaker 1: just keeping us fresh and just whoever has the hot hand.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I feel like it's going to get out there and
- 18:02Speaker 1: uh produce that day. Right. But with Damian now it
- 18:04Speaker 1: does seem like your opportunities will be there more going
- 18:07Speaker 1: up against the Cleveland defense. I just got tagged for
- 18:09Speaker 1: two D thirty eight yards on the ground. I mean,
- 18:12Speaker 1: do you see some opportunities to maybe get back to one. Yeah,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I'm always looking to improve, but every week in the
- 18:19Speaker 1: NFL is is different. So I just got to approach
- 18:22Speaker 1: it and prepare like any other game and just go
- 18:25Speaker 1: out there ready to run the ball hard and just
- 18:28Speaker 1: run behind my old line. Ramondre We hear it every
- 18:31Speaker 1: year that a rookie quarterback's best friend is a strong
- 18:34Speaker 1: running game. You provided that for Bailey Zappy last week
- 18:37Speaker 1: in his first start. Do you feel any added pressure
- 18:40Speaker 1: that you guys have to produce knowing you have a
- 18:42Speaker 1: rookie quarterback. There no no no added pressure, But I
- 18:45Speaker 1: just know just getting to this point of the season,
- 18:48Speaker 1: we have to run the ball hard regardless. So with
- 18:51Speaker 1: Bailey in there, with Mac and there whoever is in there,
- 18:53Speaker 1: you just gotta know how to run the ball and
- 18:55Speaker 1: just be physical. And Billy's he's doing a great job,
- 18:58Speaker 1: so I'm not really worried about any extra pressure, especially
- 19:01Speaker 1: just off of his and he's doing a great job
- 19:02Speaker 1: and just willing to learn. And I say he's doing
- 19:05Speaker 1: he's getting better and remind you, we know you guys
- 19:08Speaker 1: changing things offensively coming into the season. With Josh McDaniels
- 19:11Speaker 1: going to the Raiders and Matt Patricia, Joe Judge coming
- 19:15Speaker 1: in now with Bailey Zappy having to step in, did
- 19:18Speaker 1: you have to change things even more? Uh? No, I
- 19:21Speaker 1: wouldn't say we had to change anything, uh anymore things
- 19:24Speaker 1: like that. But it's it's a new quarterback, so I'm
- 19:27Speaker 1: sure that that staff and there they've been going through
- 19:29Speaker 1: a little bit of changing things like that, but they're
- 19:31Speaker 1: they're doing a great job as long as Bailey Zappy
- 19:34Speaker 1: and then Max Stell in his ear. We've got Brian Hoyer,
- 19:37Speaker 1: we got Garrett so they all just it's just a
- 19:39Speaker 1: helping hand over here and just everyone's helping out each
- 19:42Speaker 1: other and it's been a pretty smooth transition. If you
- 19:44Speaker 1: ask me, you're facing a team that has Nick Chubb
- 19:47Speaker 1: and Kareem Hunt. You know, they're one of the best
- 19:49Speaker 1: rushing attacks in the entire NFL. You see this as
- 19:52Speaker 1: a measuring stick type the game for you. First of all,
- 19:55Speaker 1: I got a ton of respect for both of those
- 19:57Speaker 1: guys that run the ball super hard, very talented. But yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 1: it's just gonna be one of those games I feel like,
- 20:01Speaker 1: just just staying on the field of time of possession,
- 20:04Speaker 1: getting first down just trying to move the ball. Just
- 20:07Speaker 1: moved the ball. That will all right, son. So the
- 20:11Speaker 1: units you wore last week, right, the red jerseys, the
- 20:13Speaker 1: Patriot pat on the helmet like a young guy like you,
- 20:16Speaker 1: they were throwbacks. I'm old. I remember when they wore
- 20:19Speaker 1: them full time. But said, gotta tell me, man, what
- 20:22Speaker 1: is the feeling about those red jerseys in that classic helmet.
- 20:26Speaker 1: The guys like him better than what you guys are
- 20:28Speaker 1: rocking normally. Uh, it's a great change, if I'll say that.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Everybody loved putting them on last week. And I think
- 20:37Speaker 1: we got another weekend, so I think everybody's looking forward
- 20:40Speaker 1: to that. But our uniform, as I mean, we got
- 20:42Speaker 1: to play football at the end of the day. But yeah,
- 20:44Speaker 1: we love the red uniform. I'll come on, have some more.
- 20:47Speaker 1: We know you. You were a star at Oklahoma and
- 20:51Speaker 1: one of your former teammates, Jalen Hurts, has had a
- 20:53Speaker 1: tremendous year. What did you see from him when you
- 20:55Speaker 1: guys were in college that suggests he might become the
- 20:57Speaker 1: big star that that he's becoming. First and foremost, he
- 21:00Speaker 1: was just a very mature, mature person. He was a
- 21:03Speaker 1: guy that he did not want to be average. He
- 21:05Speaker 1: didn't want the team to be to be average, so
- 21:08Speaker 1: he just pushed everybody. And it's no surprise like I've
- 21:11Speaker 1: seen it in him from way back then. I only
- 21:13Speaker 1: had one season with him, but just the way he
- 21:15Speaker 1: carried us. So he's a he's a prose pro. We
- 21:19Speaker 1: want to have you close your eyes here if you will,
- 21:22Speaker 1: maybe metaphorically and listen to this Remandre. You know, it's
- 21:27Speaker 1: very very energetic, has a ton of good energy out
- 21:30Speaker 1: there on the field, really smart, really versatile. You can
- 21:33Speaker 1: do a lot of different things. He's a really good athlete. Um,
- 21:36Speaker 1: he's strong, he's big, he's athletic. So um, he's a
- 21:39Speaker 1: valuable piece to our tour football team across the board.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I love working once everything great kid. Well that was
- 21:47Speaker 1: Steve Belichick talking, but it sounds just like Bill Belichick
- 21:51Speaker 1: and his iconic voice. Do you guys ever get confused
- 21:54Speaker 1: when you're walking around the building and you hear Steve talking, Yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 1: kind of. They both have that kind of like monotone voice,
- 22:02Speaker 1: So yeah, it's kind of confused, but time respect for
- 22:05Speaker 1: by the other guy. I love about the though. Does
- 22:07Speaker 1: it ever change because we get the public stoic voice,
- 22:11Speaker 1: But I mean, do we ever get like anything different,
- 22:14Speaker 1: Do you guys ever see a different side of either
- 22:16Speaker 1: one of them? I might getting toble for this, but yeah,
- 22:20Speaker 1: Belicheir like to the eyest he's he's one of the
- 22:23Speaker 1: funniest people on our coach and stuff. And I know
- 22:26Speaker 1: a lot of people have vouched for that, but yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 1: he's he's more than what the media shows. I would say,
- 22:31Speaker 1: All right, well, remind you a Stevenson, thank you so
- 22:34Speaker 1: much for joining us. Congratulations on your career, high on Sunday,
- 22:37Speaker 1: and good luck against Cleveland this Sunday. Appreciate you guys,
- 22:40Speaker 1: Thank you. Right. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins and the Vikings getting
- 22:45Speaker 1: ready to go against Mike McDaniel and the Dolphins, a
- 22:48Speaker 1: couple of teams with brinning records meeting in South Florida.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Here's Mike McDaniel on the matchup. We decided to start
- 22:59Speaker 1: Skylar because we knew the you know, it was best
- 23:01Speaker 1: for the team in terms of, um having the week
- 23:05Speaker 1: to prepare and you know, um all those things. So yeah,
- 23:10Speaker 1: there's that nothing's changed in the teams. Um, the team
- 23:15Speaker 1: has really believes in all three quarterbacks. So um, that's
- 23:20Speaker 1: one one thing We've been fortunate that we've talked about
- 23:22Speaker 1: since since preseason. Is a luxury to have three quarterbacks
- 23:26Speaker 1: that your disposal and this should be a fun one
- 23:29Speaker 1: there at hard Rock Stadium, Cam Wolf and Mark Ross
- 23:32Speaker 1: back with us Now. Cam. When you look at the
- 23:34Speaker 1: Dolphins defensively, how do they slow down Kirk Cousins and
- 23:38Speaker 1: that Vikings offense. Yeah, Omar has to start with this
- 23:41Speaker 1: pass rush we saw last week when Kirk Cousins went
- 23:44Speaker 1: seventeen of seventeen to start the game. He is a
- 23:47Speaker 1: quarterback that thrives in rhythm and so you look at
- 23:50Speaker 1: the Vikings numbers, They've only given up eight sacks this
- 23:53Speaker 1: year in five games. But if you dive deeper, like
- 23:55Speaker 1: I did with our great research team, you would notice
- 23:57Speaker 1: that Kirk Cousins has really struggled against the blitz. He's
- 24:00Speaker 1: in the bottom two and completion percentage and yards per
- 24:03Speaker 1: a tip against the blitz. And he's playing the Dolphins
- 24:06Speaker 1: defense that loves the blitz, one of the highest blitz
- 24:09Speaker 1: rates in the league. Not as much success with that
- 24:12Speaker 1: blitz this season. So there's been a lot of questions
- 24:14Speaker 1: here in Miami. Should they blitz more, should they blitz less?
- 24:18Speaker 1: Regardless of their plan, they have to get home on
- 24:21Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins. One thing to note about their pass rush.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Four rushers are fewer when they send four rushes or fewer.
- 24:26Speaker 1: They have just one sack this year. That's last in
- 24:29Speaker 1: the league. This Dolphins defense has to figure out a
- 24:32Speaker 1: way with Justin Jefferson, the NFL's leading receiver on the
- 24:35Speaker 1: other side, to be able to get home against the Vikings.
- 24:38Speaker 1: And Mark, Look, this is a team that's playing their
- 24:40Speaker 1: third sting quarterback. This Dolphins defense had a lot of expectations.
- 24:43Speaker 1: They have to bow up and win this game for
- 24:46Speaker 1: their team. Yeah, Vikings. They are four and one and
- 24:49Speaker 1: probably the least talked about of all these teams that
- 24:51Speaker 1: are four and one or better. Mark, what's your take
- 24:53Speaker 1: through through the first five weeks of the season for Minnesota? Yeah, right, Ohmar,
- 24:58Speaker 1: because they've kind of been under the radar after the
- 25:00Speaker 1: public display of the prime time to baccle against the
- 25:04Speaker 1: Eagles where Kirk Cousins did Kirk Cousins thing, and as
- 25:07Speaker 1: Cam kind of mentioned, that's been Kurt's m O. When
- 25:10Speaker 1: he's comfortable, when he's in rhythm, when he doesn't get pressured,
- 25:12Speaker 1: he can pick you apart, but when there's a lot
- 25:15Speaker 1: of pressure in the game and on the big state
- 25:18Speaker 1: with prime time games, he kind of he does not deliver.
- 25:21Speaker 1: So I think this might be another game where Kirk
- 25:23Speaker 1: Cousins can get in rhythm. Uh since that Eagles game
- 25:26Speaker 1: that they've won three in a row, but it's against Chicago,
- 25:29Speaker 1: New Orleans, UH and and Detroit. So Minnesota has a
- 25:34Speaker 1: way of beating bad teams and really for the good
- 25:37Speaker 1: thing for that, when you look at their schedule the
- 25:39Speaker 1: rest of the way, they only have one prime time
- 25:41Speaker 1: game left, so one o'clock Kirk can really feast and
- 25:44Speaker 1: they play a lot of subpar teams. They don't really
- 25:47Speaker 1: have a lot of tough challenges on the horizon here
- 25:49Speaker 1: with their schedule, just looking at it right now. So
- 25:52Speaker 1: when I'm looking at Minnesota, yes, therefore one every win matters,
- 25:56Speaker 1: and I think they're gonna pile up some wins and
- 25:58Speaker 1: win that Central just when you look at their schedule
- 26:00Speaker 1: and not having him be under the big lights only
- 26:03Speaker 1: one more time on that's the season's schedule. Omar wow,
- 26:06Speaker 1: Which means that if Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are
- 26:08Speaker 1: gonna get to the playoffs, are gonna have to do
- 26:09Speaker 1: a wild card out of the NFC North. According to
- 26:13Speaker 1: Mark Ross Mark Cam, thank you both very much. College
- 26:17Speaker 1: football returns to NFL Network as the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks
- 26:21Speaker 1: had the mobile to take on the South Alabama Jaguars.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Coverage begins tomorrow seven o'clock Eastern only on NFL Network.
- 26:30Speaker 1: That sets us up for one more thing, Mark Ross,
- 26:33Speaker 1: Jim Trotter, and Cam Wolf back with us. Mark will
- 26:35Speaker 1: start with you, what's your one more thing? Well? I
- 26:38Speaker 1: got the US heavyweight Deonte Wilder, who's from Tuscaloosa, Alabama,
- 26:44Speaker 1: the hotbed of football. They went and visited the Giants
- 26:46Speaker 1: practice this week in anticipation of his fight in the
- 26:50Speaker 1: Barkley Center this weekend. A little connection sat Quax Barkley.
- 26:54Speaker 1: His great uncle, Iron the Blade Barkley was a middleweight
- 26:58Speaker 1: chant back in the eighties. So little boxing connection there.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Trying to bring some good luck there to the giant.
- 27:02Speaker 1: There you go, Giants, trying to be chance. Jim, what's
- 27:04Speaker 1: your one more thing? Yeah? I want to give a
- 27:07Speaker 1: shout out to Raiders depends van Max Crosby and his
- 27:10Speaker 1: fiance Rachel Washburn, who yesterday welcome their first child, Elo
- 27:14Speaker 1: Rose Crosby. Now we know Max had that tough loss
- 27:17Speaker 1: on Thursday night against Kansas City, but there's nothing like
- 27:21Speaker 1: the birth of a child to provide perspective in these moments.
- 27:24Speaker 1: So congrats to him and Rachel m the birth of
- 27:28Speaker 1: their first child, and rats to the Crosby family. Has
- 27:30Speaker 1: been a great turnaround for Max Crosby. In great name,
- 27:33Speaker 1: my oldest is Isabella Rose cam Wolf. What's your one
- 27:37Speaker 1: more thing? Well, mar I wanted to talk about Dolphins
- 27:41Speaker 1: ping pong gate. The patent table was removed by Tyreek Hill.
- 27:45Speaker 1: There was different reasons why Tyreek said a Dolphins table
- 27:48Speaker 1: he's getting. Mikeel Danigos said, maybe it was distraction. Well,
- 27:52Speaker 1: Mike Danigos said, today there's fourteen reasons why. I don't care.
- 27:56Speaker 1: We just want to focus on that. I do care
- 27:58Speaker 1: that Ian rapp Reports stole by one more thing yesterday.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So this is a ten year anniversary of Ian's most
- 28:04Speaker 1: covenant moment, as we're porter one of the greatest moments
- 28:06Speaker 1: in Ian Rappaport history. I love it. Sunday Night Football
- 28:10Speaker 1: takes the ball off the microphone and he keeps going.
- 28:13Speaker 1: He has a little laugh about it, but he continued
- 28:15Speaker 1: the report. NFL Now is a production of the NFL
