- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. We're going to Germany for the
- 0:18Speaker 1: latest time the Seahawks in the Bucketeers. We're going to
- 0:21Speaker 1: Dallas for the possibility of Odell Beckham Jr. Wearing a
- 0:24Speaker 1: star on the side of his helmet. Plus would be
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hall of Famer Tory Holt joins us. All of that
- 0:28Speaker 1: coming up in the next hour here of NFL Now
- 0:32Speaker 1: on NFL Network. We're in our newsroom as always in
- 0:34Speaker 1: Los Angeles. I'm Andrews Ciciliano, and this is Josh Allen.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Late in the game Sunday the Bills lost to the
- 0:41Speaker 1: Jets for his elbow Bryce huff Off, the edge hit
- 0:44Speaker 1: him on the right arm. Josh Allen is not gonna
- 0:46Speaker 1: practice today and his status for Sunday Bill's Vikings, a
- 0:51Speaker 1: would be Super Bowl preview, is very much up in
- 0:54Speaker 1: the air. He's day to day and the next question
- 1:00Speaker 1: will be is he gonna play? And the answer, as
- 1:02Speaker 1: we'll see. UM, So, based on the medical report that
- 1:05Speaker 1: that we have Josh's day to day, what can you
- 1:08Speaker 1: tell us about the medical report that God, I'm not
- 1:11Speaker 1: gonna get in the medical report, Um should have said
- 1:14Speaker 1: that to begin with, I'm not answering any more questions
- 1:17Speaker 1: about Josh. His status. Medical report, I'm not a doctor,
- 1:21Speaker 1: is based on how much pain you can deal with
- 1:24Speaker 1: him and how he can execut throws or whatever. He's
- 1:27Speaker 1: day to day. We'll see, we will see. I just
- 1:30Speaker 1: give me, give me one let me answer this question fully, please,
- 1:35Speaker 1: we will see how he does. We use common sense,
- 1:38Speaker 1: and obviously we factor a lot of things into the
- 1:40Speaker 1: medical report, being one of them, and our doctor's wisdom
- 1:43Speaker 1: and knowledge trying to since Sunday Josh's day to day.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I appreciate that Josh could try. Um, but that's candy
- 2:02Speaker 1: right there, Josh, that's candy. Kind of reminiscent theater app
- 2:07Speaker 1: report Mike Earrafolo, Bill Belichick for a couple of weeks
- 2:10Speaker 1: ago when we're trying to figure out mac Jones and
- 2:12Speaker 1: his ankle. Although we had reporting that there was really
- 2:15Speaker 1: no chance Mac Jones was going to play. This one's
- 2:18Speaker 1: kind of very much up in the air. Ian what
- 2:21Speaker 1: else can we add? It is up in the air
- 2:24Speaker 1: because so much of it, Andrew just depends on how
- 2:27Speaker 1: well Josh Allen responds to treatment today and tomorrow and Friday,
- 2:31Speaker 1: whether or not he's able to get on the field,
- 2:32Speaker 1: whether or not he can hold a football and throw
- 2:34Speaker 1: a football. We saw him do it at the end
- 2:36Speaker 1: of the game, actually through a beautiful deep downfield pass
- 2:40Speaker 1: late late in the game after the injury. But how
- 2:42Speaker 1: he came back this week obviously different from something that
- 2:45Speaker 1: happened right in the heat of the moment. My understanding, Mike,
- 2:48Speaker 1: it is a u c L sprain in elbow sprain
- 2:51Speaker 1: for Josh Allen, something he's actually dealt with before, dealt
- 2:53Speaker 1: with it early early on in his career, missed several games.
- 2:56Speaker 1: We do not know if this is as serious as
- 2:59Speaker 1: that one. We just know, as coach Sean McDermot mentioned
- 3:02Speaker 1: that he is day to day and it's really not
- 3:04Speaker 1: a out pain. It's not like can he deal with it,
- 3:07Speaker 1: it's simply how functional can he be, how well can
- 3:10Speaker 1: he actually hold a football? That would determine whether or
- 3:13Speaker 1: not he's able to get out on the field on Sunday. Well.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Dr Sean McDermott did not address it, UH, saying he
- 3:20Speaker 1: is not a knocked or actually, but there's also nerve
- 3:24Speaker 1: issues potentially as far as Kenny gripped the football. UH
- 3:27Speaker 1: in that regard. So, um, yeah, it's it's something that
- 3:31Speaker 1: they're gonna have to watch throughout the week and see
- 3:32Speaker 1: what he can do as we get closer to game time.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I know Alan is got this warrior mentality and telling
- 3:38Speaker 1: his teammates that you know, yeah, I should be able
- 3:40Speaker 1: to be Okay, I'm gonna power my way through this thing. Well,
- 3:42Speaker 1: it's not just a pain tolerance thing, you and as
- 3:45Speaker 1: you're talking about, it's a if the nerves are affected
- 3:47Speaker 1: and and and the UCL ligament is affected and he
- 3:50Speaker 1: can't grip that football and really let it rip. I
- 3:53Speaker 1: know you talked about that throw down the field to
- 3:54Speaker 1: end the game. Well there was a throw in between
- 3:57Speaker 1: that one and the strip sack, and it was one
- 3:59Speaker 1: that kind of died when he was looking for his
- 4:01Speaker 1: receiver on the right side of the field there. So, um,
- 4:04Speaker 1: you out there, there's a little bit of both to
- 4:06Speaker 1: take out of that game, Like, yeah, he ripped it
- 4:08Speaker 1: down the field, but then there was also a throw
- 4:09Speaker 1: that was effected. So we'll see how it gets. Uh
- 4:12Speaker 1: it is for allan as we get closer to game time,
- 4:14Speaker 1: I think you know questionable right now, is is a
- 4:16Speaker 1: fair way to put it. Yeah, which means if you're
- 4:19Speaker 1: looking ahead to the injury report on Friday, I'm willing
- 4:22Speaker 1: to bet he's going to be questionable here. This is just,
- 4:25Speaker 1: you know, purely speculation. But if he doesn't practice, then
- 4:27Speaker 1: obviously he wouldn't be uh that deep throw to end
- 4:30Speaker 1: the game, seventy yards downfield, not not just a flick,
- 4:34Speaker 1: a seventy yards which in the next Gen stats are
- 4:37Speaker 1: powered by a w S. Of course, that's the longest
- 4:40Speaker 1: throw that's ever been recorded, including the PJ Walker one
- 4:43Speaker 1: two weeks ago, so keep that in mind. Yep, the
- 4:46Speaker 1: guy still has a cannon. T J Watt Mike Steelers
- 4:52Speaker 1: Saints this week. We haven't seen t J since Week one.
- 4:55Speaker 1: If you read the tea leaves, it certainly sounds like
- 4:57Speaker 1: we're going to see him this Sunday. I'm still thinking
- 5:01Speaker 1: about that Josh Allen, whoever they've recorded in the last
- 5:07Speaker 1: six years in the next Gen, since they've been doing this, right, yeah, yeah, right.
- 5:12Speaker 1: We don't know what bart Star threw down the field,
- 5:14Speaker 1: but we're going to guess that that the one from
- 5:16Speaker 1: Josh Allen. I'm sure we could go to Mount Laurel
- 5:19Speaker 1: and take out the reel to reels and I don't know.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I'm being yelled at Mike talk. Did they have the
- 5:25Speaker 1: little dots moving on the screen, And I'm sure they
- 5:28Speaker 1: didn't in bart Stars era t J. Watt We gotta go,
- 5:31Speaker 1: that's what they're telling me. T J. Watt Um, Yeah,
- 5:33Speaker 1: I know he's confident. He talked in a radio interview
- 5:36Speaker 1: about how it's trending that way that he's going to
- 5:37Speaker 1: return for the first time since Week two following that
- 5:40Speaker 1: pectoral injury. Mike Toma not quite committing to it, but
- 5:43Speaker 1: the Steelers releasing an outside linebacker yesterday with every everybody says,
- 5:46Speaker 1: it's probably an indication that they're confident that what is
- 5:49Speaker 1: going to be back and going to need that roster spot.
- 5:51Speaker 1: So that's appears to be the way it's trending. But
- 5:53Speaker 1: we'll give you a final word when we get it. Yeah,
- 5:56Speaker 1: I'm good news for the Indianapolis Colts today during their practice.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Jonathan Taylor, their star running back who's been in and
- 6:02Speaker 1: out of the line of this year and clearly not
- 6:04Speaker 1: himself dealing when the night injury, took last week off
- 6:06Speaker 1: with the hope that when he played he would be
- 6:09Speaker 1: full strength for Frank Reich's team, and try to lead
- 6:12Speaker 1: that offense while he comes back. Frank Reik is gone.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Everything went completely haywired, including Jeff Saturday being there interim coach. Anyway,
- 6:19Speaker 1: good news, John the Taylor is back. Perhaps he is that,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Perhaps that's a sign and he plays on Sunday. All right,
- 6:24Speaker 1: so good news. They're certainly sorry. Jeff Gletts yelling at us,
- 6:29Speaker 1: we're short on time. Alright, bye, guys, control room hates me.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Sorry they're Oh my god, we all liked them. Okay, boys,
- 6:35Speaker 1: here we go. Let's go to world. Were touched down
- 6:38Speaker 1: tavor by my Covin's treat us up with one hand
- 6:40Speaker 1: and crams it in. You can knock his kid off
- 6:43Speaker 1: his seat. Jen Walker scores his second touchdowns, will be
- 6:47Speaker 1: on us again. Got a man at the corner, toutsdowne
- 6:58Speaker 1: down the middle, hotsdown chat chol no man, Tyler Locker was,
- 7:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna let this one get away. That's the beggar,
- 7:07Speaker 1: my friend box. Now they have Germany football made in Germany. Yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 1: let go to Munich. That's where the Seahawks and the
- 7:22Speaker 1: Bucketeers are gonna be. There are three games in the
- 7:24Speaker 1: Week ten schedule where both teams would be in the
- 7:27Speaker 1: playoffs if they were to start right now, they do not.
- 7:30Speaker 1: This is one of them. It's the three seed visiting
- 7:34Speaker 1: the seven seed. Neither team has yet arrived in Munich. However,
- 7:39Speaker 1: the weather ahead of the Seahawks. It's Seahawk weather right now.
- 7:43Speaker 1: It's raining at roughly seven twenty local time high there,
- 7:46Speaker 1: Sarah Walsh, great to have you on. What are the
- 7:48Speaker 1: Seahawks saying about their quarterback Gino Smith, who does deserve
- 7:52Speaker 1: some marquee attention here ahead of this one. Geno Smith
- 7:58Speaker 1: comes here to Munich with a lot of excitement, with
- 8:00Speaker 1: a lot of momentum, and, according to his offensive coordinator
- 8:03Speaker 1: Shane Waldron, the great ability to respond. And he said, really,
- 8:08Speaker 1: we've seen that throughout the course of the season, but
- 8:10Speaker 1: I think it's brought to light this week after he
- 8:12Speaker 1: threw that pick six and then he had those three
- 8:14Speaker 1: great touchdown drives to lead Seattle to victory. Waldron says,
- 8:18Speaker 1: he's been doing that all season long. And I was
- 8:21Speaker 1: able to talk to his tight end Will Disley, and
- 8:23Speaker 1: he said, he's really just been so selfless and that
- 8:26Speaker 1: is really an indictment on this entire team. There are
- 8:29Speaker 1: other tight end Noah Fan talked about it today and
- 8:31Speaker 1: he was asked what goes unnoticed about this Seahawks team,
- 8:34Speaker 1: and he said, what's really unnoticed is their camaraderie. And
- 8:38Speaker 1: you go, okay, well you how do you measure that?
- 8:39Speaker 1: And he says, well, here's how you measure it. This team,
- 8:42Speaker 1: when they make a mistake, it actually brings them closer together.
- 8:45Speaker 1: He says, you know where they want you on the field.
- 8:48Speaker 1: He understands what Gino likes, where he wants him to be.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And he said that that really has made all the difference.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And then I think another thing that's important to notice.
- 8:55Speaker 1: This is a Seattle team that has had some really
- 8:58Speaker 1: good rookie performances. This rookie class for the Seahawks has
- 9:01Speaker 1: been incredible, and you know at times it's their running back,
- 9:04Speaker 1: the rookie running back Keneth Walker starring. But Fanta told
- 9:07Speaker 1: us that they have an offense predicated on spreading the
- 9:10Speaker 1: ball around. The pressure is not on any one guy,
- 9:12Speaker 1: so that pressure isn't exactly on Gino. Although Gino has
- 9:16Speaker 1: been carrying a lot of the load and certainly carrying
- 9:18Speaker 1: a lot of the headlines coming into Munich. Heire andrew
- 9:21Speaker 1: I said, this is one of the three games this week, Sarah,
- 9:23Speaker 1: where both teams would be in the playoffs right now,
- 9:25Speaker 1: it is the first International Series game where both teams
- 9:28Speaker 1: will enter leading their respective divisions. Let's let's emphasize that
- 9:33Speaker 1: with the Buccaneers because there's been a lot of negatives
- 9:35Speaker 1: about them. Certainly they still do lead their division. What's
- 9:38Speaker 1: Tom Brady saying? What are they saying about some of
- 9:40Speaker 1: the positives that they could highlight? Okay, so one of
- 9:45Speaker 1: the things is, first of all, how many teams in
- 9:46Speaker 1: this league would trade places and love to be leading
- 9:49Speaker 1: their division no matter the record. Right, That's how the
- 9:51Speaker 1: Buccaneers are trying to look at things. They feel like
- 9:53Speaker 1: they are still very much in control. And then I
- 9:55Speaker 1: think they feel like the offense will catch up. They
- 9:58Speaker 1: just have to hang in there. But let me give
- 9:59Speaker 1: you one positive stat. For all the things this offense
- 10:02Speaker 1: hasn't done. We know they haven't been able to run
- 10:04Speaker 1: the football, they haven't been scoring points the way that
- 10:07Speaker 1: they did a season ago. Tom Brady has done a
- 10:10Speaker 1: tremendous job taking care of the football. Ten touchdowns to
- 10:14Speaker 1: just one interception. That is the best ratio in the
- 10:17Speaker 1: league when it comes to that. So he doesn't give
- 10:19Speaker 1: a lot away. Now, this is a Seattle team that
- 10:22Speaker 1: defense didn't start strong, but the Seahawks have been coming
- 10:25Speaker 1: on strong as of lately. Since Week six. They're allowing
- 10:28Speaker 1: teams to just score sixteen and a half points per
- 10:31Speaker 1: game against them, and the Seahawks have fifteen takeaways that
- 10:35Speaker 1: is tied for fourth best in the league. So it
- 10:37Speaker 1: will be interesting to see if they're able to take
- 10:39Speaker 1: advantage of a Tom Brady who has been very stingy
- 10:42Speaker 1: when it comes to giving that football away. Andrew, this
- 10:45Speaker 1: is quite a game here. The rain's gonna go away,
- 10:47Speaker 1: I promised Sarah Walsh though with the prop with the umbrella,
- 10:50Speaker 1: not just a prop actually holding the raindown. Thank you,
- 10:53Speaker 1: it's not just a prop. We can see other people
- 10:56Speaker 1: with umbrellas behind you. Well done, Sarah Walsh. Thank you.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Live in Munich. Seahawks and Bucket are am Eastern Time,
- 11:05Speaker 1: coming up on Sunday, NFL Network streaming and NFL Plus.
- 11:10Speaker 1: All right, that'll be the second game of week number ten.
- 11:12Speaker 1: The very first game's coming up tomorrow, seven Eastern time,
- 11:15Speaker 1: Prime video. It's the Atlanta Falcons. It's the Carolina Panthers.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I am not one for passer rating not my favorite metric,
- 11:22Speaker 1: but I do know that zero point zero is bad.
- 11:25Speaker 1: That's what p J. Walker had last week before getting
- 11:28Speaker 1: benched in halftime. But he is starting again tomorrow. I
- 11:33Speaker 1: feel good, you know, uh, just to see that you
- 11:36Speaker 1: trust me. You know, they got got a lot of
- 11:37Speaker 1: faith in me to go out there and play um
- 11:39Speaker 1: and get the job done on one Thursday. UM. At
- 11:42Speaker 1: the end of the day, we all are trying to win,
- 11:44Speaker 1: and you know that's that's the mindset for the Team's
- 11:47Speaker 1: gonna be a lot of gods hyped up and uh
- 11:49Speaker 1: on both sides of the ball. So we just I'm
- 11:51Speaker 1: looking forward. So I think we played a couple of
- 11:52Speaker 1: years ago on a Thursday night, so the energy gonna
- 11:56Speaker 1: be there and we just gotta go out there to
- 11:58Speaker 1: take advantage of it. A half far more importantly, Steve
- 12:01Speaker 1: Whitechs played him a couple of weeks ago, and if
- 12:03Speaker 1: not for the penalty and on d J. Moore, probably
- 12:06Speaker 1: p J Walker got that win. The flip side of
- 12:08Speaker 1: that is what the Falcons have been doing offensively here.
- 12:10Speaker 1: You know they're gonna run the ball, and they still
- 12:12Speaker 1: run the ball effectively. And a rookie is a big
- 12:14Speaker 1: part of that. Yeah, Look, we talked about this guy
- 12:16Speaker 1: in preseason, Tyler Algier, the rookie running back out of
- 12:19Speaker 1: Brigham Young and the Falcons used the three person running
- 12:22Speaker 1: back rotation right with Corderel Patterson Algire Um, I don't
- 12:25Speaker 1: know why I'm blanking on Okayleb Huntley forty two, the
- 12:28Speaker 1: big sledgehammer at the goal line. But Algiers someone who's
- 12:31Speaker 1: emerged as a dual run and receiving threat and that's
- 12:34Speaker 1: your traditional third down type of back because of the
- 12:36Speaker 1: physicality that he plays with. But again, great yards after
- 12:40Speaker 1: catch guy. You see him here, punishing tackles, square shoulders,
- 12:43Speaker 1: finishes runs like all the running backs do by snapping
- 12:46Speaker 1: heads back right. But this is somebody as the as
- 12:48Speaker 1: the Falcons go along here, especially in this game against
- 12:50Speaker 1: Carolina where he had a pretty good game a couple
- 12:52Speaker 1: of weeks ago. Somebody who again you can take some
- 12:55Speaker 1: of the pressure off Corderiol Patterson, take some of the
- 12:57Speaker 1: pressure are off of Marcus Mariotte, who still is not
- 12:59Speaker 1: throwing the ball well enough completing passes at a proper
- 13:03Speaker 1: rate for Atlanta to continue to win. But Algiers a
- 13:05Speaker 1: guy to continue to keep your eye on because he's
- 13:07Speaker 1: starting to understand what they're doing in this running game,
- 13:10Speaker 1: and again, his versatility as a receiver and a running
- 13:12Speaker 1: back something that kind of pushed him through. If the
- 13:15Speaker 1: offense keep running the ball the way they do. Think
- 13:16Speaker 1: it's also big that Cordarrel Patterson came back last week
- 13:19Speaker 1: for the first time since Week four, and yet Tyler
- 13:22Speaker 1: l Jeer was still a huge part of the game
- 13:23Speaker 1: plan and he had ninety nine yards rushing. Will see
- 13:26Speaker 1: more him coming up, Thank you, Steve. Tomorrow is we
- 13:28Speaker 1: open up week ten in Carolina, Lina. This is your
- 13:31Speaker 1: headliners Sunday afternoon, the Vikings the Bills, then the Vikings
- 13:36Speaker 1: angle next. Not all right, Josh Allen's not gonna practice today.
- 13:46Speaker 1: There is your number one headline around the nationale Football
- 13:49Speaker 1: League on the Wednesday before we open up week ten.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Sean McDermott would not say much more other than that,
- 13:54Speaker 1: he said he's day to day. Well, like, what's the diagnosis,
- 13:57Speaker 1: wouldn't say, what's the prognosis, wouldn't say Josh Allen not
- 14:01Speaker 1: practicing ahead of the game of the week on Sunday afternoon.
- 14:06Speaker 1: It would be Super Bowl preview between the Bills and
- 14:09Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins and the Vikings, who have won six consecutive games.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Cousins isn't exactly lighten it up, but he's doing enough
- 14:18Speaker 1: to win every single week. Yes seven and one team.
- 14:24Speaker 1: They've only lost one game and that was to the
- 14:26Speaker 1: Eagles earlier in the year. Good football team. Um, they
- 14:30Speaker 1: do a great job taking the football away and and
- 14:32Speaker 1: I believe they're well coach. I know the coaching staff
- 14:35Speaker 1: is new, but a lot of respect for for coach
- 14:37Speaker 1: and what he's done there. Um, we've got to make
- 14:39Speaker 1: sure that, Um, you know, we're spreading the ball around
- 14:42Speaker 1: and everyone's involved, and I think when you have that,
- 14:45Speaker 1: you're a little bit harder to defend, and and uh,
- 14:48Speaker 1: people stay, stay engaged. And um, so it's all about
- 14:51Speaker 1: just developing, continue to develop our roster, develop our football
- 14:55Speaker 1: team and in this case, the offense that Sean McDermott
- 14:58Speaker 1: earlier today answering one of the few questions and his
- 15:00Speaker 1: press availability that was not directly related to Josh Allen
- 15:04Speaker 1: or is l about Judy Batista, Mike Jordy. We're all
- 15:07Speaker 1: watching said press conference and understanding Judy that everything changes
- 15:10Speaker 1: for the number one offense and football of Josh Allen
- 15:12Speaker 1: is not out there in case keen. It is from
- 15:14Speaker 1: a Bill's perspective, though, what is the key on that
- 15:18Speaker 1: side of the ball this week for them? Well, one
- 15:21Speaker 1: of the keys, no matter who is out there, is
- 15:23Speaker 1: they got to do a better job of taking care
- 15:25Speaker 1: of the football. You just heard Sean McDermott say that
- 15:28Speaker 1: the Vikings are really good at taking the ball away.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Their fifth in forcing turnovers. Here's the problem for the Bills.
- 15:34Speaker 1: There twenty eight in turnovers. They are number one in
- 15:37Speaker 1: the league in offensive drives that are ended by turnovers,
- 15:41Speaker 1: four team turnovers and all in all, eight of those
- 15:44Speaker 1: are Josh Allen interceptions. It really has not been fatal
- 15:48Speaker 1: until they got to the Jets game last week. They
- 15:50Speaker 1: have been loose with the ball against Green Bay, but
- 15:53Speaker 1: they escaped against the Jets, no such luck. One of
- 15:56Speaker 1: the interceptions was in the red zone. Another interception led
- 15:59Speaker 1: to a Jets touchdown, and if you remember, there was
- 16:02Speaker 1: a strip sack. They recovered that ball, but it led
- 16:04Speaker 1: to a long loss that really doomed that final drive
- 16:08Speaker 1: for the Bills. So it caught up to them in
- 16:10Speaker 1: that game. They've got to clean this up again. Hasn't
- 16:13Speaker 1: been fatal may not be fatal against most opponents, but
- 16:16Speaker 1: when the Bills play a top level opponent and they're
- 16:20Speaker 1: going to get one of those in the Vikings this week,
- 16:22Speaker 1: those kinds of things can catch up with them and
- 16:24Speaker 1: certainly guys as they progress towards the player. They also
- 16:28Speaker 1: play a similar offensive system here this week with the Vikings,
- 16:33Speaker 1: Kevin O'Connell wide zone coming from Sean McVeigh, Michael Floor,
- 16:37Speaker 1: Mike Gardy, same thing last week. Last week it worked
- 16:40Speaker 1: a hundred and seventy four yards on the ground against
- 16:43Speaker 1: the Bills. Yeah, and to me, Andrew, the big thing,
- 16:46Speaker 1: the telling thing was the eight carries on the final
- 16:49Speaker 1: drive in a row from the shadow of their own
- 16:50Speaker 1: goal post for the Jets driving the ball down the field.
- 16:53Speaker 1: They said, we're going to run the same play at
- 16:55Speaker 1: I think Baldi did it on his Twitter. Kept going
- 16:58Speaker 1: at him, kept going at him, and they couldn't stop it.
- 17:00Speaker 1: And look, Leslie Fraser talked yesterday and he said, hey, guys,
- 17:04Speaker 1: it's pretty simple. We just gotta get groupings and personnel,
- 17:07Speaker 1: two gaps. We have to tackle better. But we were
- 17:10Speaker 1: good at this for six weeks. We've had a downturn
- 17:12Speaker 1: the last two against the Packers and the Jets, and
- 17:15Speaker 1: you look at the Packers game, you said, well, look,
- 17:16Speaker 1: they built up this huge lead, and the Packers just
- 17:18Speaker 1: kept turning around and handled the ball off to Aaron
- 17:21Speaker 1: Jones and A J. Dylan, as von Miller said, go
- 17:23Speaker 1: right ahead, you're chewing up the clock. We don't really care.
- 17:25Speaker 1: We've got a seventeen point lead. But in the Jets game,
- 17:28Speaker 1: sort of that came to roost and it was more
- 17:30Speaker 1: damaging to them. I look at the interior of their guys,
- 17:33Speaker 1: you know, Nick Win Jones, Um, excuse me, yeah, Nick One, Jones,
- 17:37Speaker 1: Tim Settled, Jordan Phillips. Those are the guys that have
- 17:39Speaker 1: to stand up against the run, and we're doing a
- 17:41Speaker 1: great job early in the year. They had a hard
- 17:44Speaker 1: time in that Jets game. In particular. They have to
- 17:46Speaker 1: be tighter, they have to be better, but they have
- 17:48Speaker 1: the personnel. This just looks like it was one of
- 17:50Speaker 1: those little slumps that you go through. You get their
- 17:52Speaker 1: attention now and we'll see how it works against Minnesota.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Tim Settle guests of course last week on NFL. Now,
- 17:57Speaker 1: hopefully that was not like a jinx regardless. Thank you Mike,
- 18:02Speaker 1: thank you Judy Nick Shook is not gonna touched this
- 18:05Speaker 1: one on his list of underdogs, maybe because, of course
- 18:08Speaker 1: Nix with us every week here high Nick doesn't a
- 18:11Speaker 1: NFL dot Com. We have all these kinds of questions
- 18:13Speaker 1: here about the quarterbacks, but we can start with the
- 18:16Speaker 1: game in Germany where Draft Kings has Geno Smith and
- 18:20Speaker 1: the Seahawks has two and a half point underdogs. What
- 18:23Speaker 1: do you like about Gino and the Hawks in this one? Well,
- 18:27Speaker 1: eventually folks are gonna look at the Seahawks and take
- 18:29Speaker 1: them seriously. I mean they leave the division there six
- 18:31Speaker 1: and three, but they are going to get a quarterback
- 18:33Speaker 1: in Tom Brady who is undefeated in international games. He's
- 18:36Speaker 1: three and oh, but that last game was way back
- 18:38Speaker 1: in two seventeen. Also undefeated in international games. Pete Carroll
- 18:42Speaker 1: too and oh in his career with the Seahawks and
- 18:45Speaker 1: also uh favorite for well maybe not a favorite, but
- 18:48Speaker 1: a dark horse candidate for Coach of the Year. Big
- 18:50Speaker 1: reason why Geno Smith. Of course he's balling. He he
- 18:53Speaker 1: might be the comeback player of the Year, if not
- 18:55Speaker 1: a dark horse candidate for the m v P leads
- 18:57Speaker 1: leading completion percentage, He's got a one or seven point
- 19:00Speaker 1: to pass a ready. I know you're not that fond
- 19:01Speaker 1: of it, uh Andrew the pass a reading metrics, but
- 19:04Speaker 1: he's playing very well in the leads the league with
- 19:06Speaker 1: nine d passing touchdowns according to next gens stats. So look,
- 19:09Speaker 1: I don't know when people are going to finally take
- 19:10Speaker 1: them seriously. It should have been weeks ago. I take
- 19:13Speaker 1: them seriously, and I think they have a very good
- 19:15Speaker 1: chance in this game. For the record, I don't mind passerrating.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I just the next time I'm in a bar and
- 19:19Speaker 1: I hear a fan say, man, only if we could
- 19:22Speaker 1: get a quarterback with a passerrating above eight, I think
- 19:25Speaker 1: I think we'd be okay, man, did you see his passerrating?
- 19:28Speaker 1: It just never has happened. I digress regardless. Um, every
- 19:31Speaker 1: now and then, Nick, you have one of these schedule
- 19:33Speaker 1: anomalies where the Saints. Let's take the Saints this week.
- 19:36Speaker 1: They're they're they're on a short week, right, they played
- 19:38Speaker 1: Monday night, and they're facing a team on the road
- 19:40Speaker 1: and the Steelers, and the Steelers are the underdog here
- 19:42Speaker 1: according to Draft Kings. That's coming off of buy. Is
- 19:45Speaker 1: that why you like the Steelers? That's part of a
- 19:47Speaker 1: reason why because the Steelers there a team that's playing
- 19:50Speaker 1: with the rookie quarterback that could use the extra week
- 19:51Speaker 1: of prep. They could use the week off. They could
- 19:53Speaker 1: also use the week to figure out how their offense
- 19:55Speaker 1: is gonna look without Chase Claypool. It's gonna include George Pickens.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I think a lot more, which would be good for
- 20:00Speaker 1: Picket to Pickens that connection. And the last time the
- 20:02Speaker 1: Steelers faced a struggling NFC South team with a rough
- 20:06Speaker 1: offense like the Saints are right now, like we saw
- 20:07Speaker 1: on Monday Night Football, they won. That was the game
- 20:10Speaker 1: against the Buccaneers at eighteen victory. I really like their
- 20:13Speaker 1: chances in this game, not just because of that, but
- 20:15Speaker 1: also because I don't have much confidence in the Saint's
- 20:17Speaker 1: who continue to ride with Andy Dalton and struggle with
- 20:20Speaker 1: the football in their hands. Their last touchdown last week,
- 20:23Speaker 1: the only reason they scored was because the Ravens didn't
- 20:25Speaker 1: play through the whistle, so they got to be better
- 20:27Speaker 1: on that side of the ball. I don't see a
- 20:28Speaker 1: light at the end of the tunnel for them. So Steelers,
- 20:30Speaker 1: I think they got a shot all right. A lot
- 20:31Speaker 1: of people don't have faith right now in the Rams
- 20:33Speaker 1: draft Kings, however, has them is three point favorites over
- 20:36Speaker 1: the visiting Cardinals in this building right here over my
- 20:39Speaker 1: right shoulder, coming up on Sunday. The Cardinals won here
- 20:42Speaker 1: last year. You like the Cardinals, don't you. Well they
- 20:44Speaker 1: lost this meeting in Arizona earlier this season. But this
- 20:47Speaker 1: is a tale of two teams right now with similar problems,
- 20:50Speaker 1: one quarterback and one primary playmaker. For the Rams, it's
- 20:53Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford and Cooper cup who is their entire offense,
- 20:56Speaker 1: And for the Cardinals it's been Kyler Murray and DeAndre
- 20:58Speaker 1: Hopkins since he's been back. But there is a little
- 21:00Speaker 1: bit of hope with the Cardinals because last week Rondale
- 21:02Speaker 1: Moore got twice as many targets as the Jerry Hopkins
- 21:05Speaker 1: did in that game. Now, they lost that game, of course,
- 21:07Speaker 1: but they have more options and Kyler Murray, he's a
- 21:10Speaker 1: wild card that could produce some success offensively. They just
- 21:14Speaker 1: have more of a room for improvement than the Ramsey
- 21:17Speaker 1: Right now. I don't have a lot of confidence in
- 21:18Speaker 1: them at all. And the Cardinals, even on the road,
- 21:21Speaker 1: this is one of those situations where I think they
- 21:22Speaker 1: might be able to score the upset all right, Let's
- 21:24Speaker 1: get to the Browns. For those who don't know, Nick
- 21:25Speaker 1: is joining us live right now from Cleveland. DraftKings has
- 21:28Speaker 1: the Browns as underdogs three and a half point underdogs
- 21:31Speaker 1: to Mike McDaniels Dolphins. McDaniel said today that the Browns
- 21:34Speaker 1: are no joke. They could beat anyone in the NFL.
- 21:37Speaker 1: You can't say that about everybody. We are not sleeping
- 21:40Speaker 1: on the Browns, and neither are you. No, I'm not.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I think this is a game that the Browns control
- 21:45Speaker 1: on the ground with Nick Chubb against the sixteenth rushing defense,
- 21:48Speaker 1: and the Browns defense is playing better in the last
- 21:50Speaker 1: few weeks against this offensive. A month ago, I would
- 21:52Speaker 1: have said no chance the Browns win this game. But
- 21:54Speaker 1: they contained the Baltimore Ravens and they shut down the
- 21:57Speaker 1: Bengals on Monday Night football. I like the way that
- 22:00Speaker 1: they're kind of coming around Joe Woods getting that group
- 22:02Speaker 1: together a lot like he did last season. And again,
- 22:04Speaker 1: Nick Chubbs is the power of this offense. I think
- 22:06Speaker 1: he could take advantage of this Dolphins defense. NFL dot
- 22:09Speaker 1: Com slash Underdogs not d A w g s like
- 22:13Speaker 1: the Dogs in Cleveland. He's talking about the d O. G. S.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Nick Shook thank you as always serves with us every
- 22:20Speaker 1: Wednesday with his picks coming up next, we go deeper
- 22:24Speaker 1: with the numbers, a PFF deep dive on Justin Fields
- 22:30Speaker 1: and to a tongue of lo was straight ahead. When
- 22:33Speaker 1: when when? When? When there are no moral victories in
- 22:39Speaker 1: the National Football League. This one did feel a little
- 22:41Speaker 1: bit different though for the Bears on Sunday, and I
- 22:43Speaker 1: could tell from my friends who are Bears fans high
- 22:45Speaker 1: Mic Renter from PFF on Monday, that what Justin Fields
- 22:49Speaker 1: has done the last couple of weeks, specifically last Sunday,
- 22:52Speaker 1: gives them this this hope that maybe they didn't have
- 22:55Speaker 1: a month ago. What are the numbers? Tell us? Are
- 22:58Speaker 1: you on the Justin Fields hype train? I and on
- 23:02Speaker 1: the Justin Fields type train. I think we are seeing
- 23:04Speaker 1: it from quarterback and we saw early in the season,
- 23:06Speaker 1: and I think we're gonna continue to see that because
- 23:09Speaker 1: of one big thing. They're finally finally doing what everyone
- 23:13Speaker 1: was asking for and utilizing his legs as a rushing
- 23:15Speaker 1: threat in this offense. He had not had more than
- 23:18Speaker 1: five design carries in his career before three weeks ago.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Over the last three weeks he's had twenty two, set
- 23:25Speaker 1: a record of twelve a few weeks ago. Design carries
- 23:28Speaker 1: and that's game that's changing with this offense is changing
- 23:30Speaker 1: the way defenses have to play them and changing the
- 23:32Speaker 1: coverage looks that he's seemed. So it's helping him as
- 23:34Speaker 1: a passer and helping that offense as a runner because
- 23:37Speaker 1: it's presents so many threats to the defense. And I
- 23:40Speaker 1: think it's for real you can complain about is its sustainable?
- 23:42Speaker 1: Can he keep going like this as a runner? I
- 23:44Speaker 1: don't really care if it's sustainable. Bears fans probably don't
- 23:47Speaker 1: care if it's sustainably that they'll take it anyway they
- 23:49Speaker 1: can get success to the quarterback position. I thought. Mike
- 23:51Speaker 1: McDaniels said something interesting today when asked about two uh
- 23:55Speaker 1: and people doubting him, and he sarcastically said, because everything
- 23:58Speaker 1: is sarcastic, go ahead, like give him more farder, doubt him,
- 24:02Speaker 1: doubt him even more. What do the numbers tell us
- 24:05Speaker 1: about to it and this offense and why it is
- 24:07Speaker 1: works so well this year? Yeah, it's kind of the
- 24:10Speaker 1: perfect confluence of scheme, talent and then to it just
- 24:14Speaker 1: being deadly accurate. The numbers, say, on throws ten plus
- 24:17Speaker 1: yards downfield, he has the highest on target percentage of
- 24:20Speaker 1: throws and the lowest off target uncatchable off target percentage
- 24:25Speaker 1: of throws. Basically, he's hitting everything, and the timing is
- 24:27Speaker 1: the biggest thing in this offense. You saw when he
- 24:29Speaker 1: was out that Teddy Bridgewater skylot Thompson. We're not operating
- 24:33Speaker 1: and nearly at the same high level because they're not
- 24:36Speaker 1: hitting those in rhythm throws to a tongue of blow
- 24:38Speaker 1: is doing that. And oh, by the way, he has
- 24:40Speaker 1: the best receiver in football on the other side of those.
- 24:42Speaker 1: And it helps when you have that guy entiree kill
- 24:44Speaker 1: and that guy in jail and waddle where if you
- 24:46Speaker 1: double one, you go to the other. One of them
- 24:48Speaker 1: is gonna be able. Like Kevin Stefanski says something fascinating
- 24:51Speaker 1: within the last hour, and it's the Dolphins and the Browns.
- 24:53Speaker 1: This week, he said that the way they're using Hill
- 24:57Speaker 1: in motion, it's almost as if it's the CFL, not
- 25:00Speaker 1: suggesting they're doing anything illegal where he's moving forward at
- 25:02Speaker 1: the snap, but that it's it's Hill has so much
- 25:05Speaker 1: speed and obviously he's almost almost always in motion that
- 25:09Speaker 1: it makes it that much more difficult to defend. He
- 25:13Speaker 1: compared it to the CFL. Alright, let's get to the
- 25:15Speaker 1: Jets and the rookie Sauce Gardener Um. He obviously had
- 25:19Speaker 1: the past break up on that final seventy yard heaved
- 25:22Speaker 1: down field to seal the victory over the Bills. This
- 25:25Speaker 1: past week he had a pick as well of Josh Allen.
- 25:28Speaker 1: He has been everything as advertised, he really has. I
- 25:33Speaker 1: was high on soft Gardner coming out, but I don't
- 25:35Speaker 1: care how high you were. I don't think anyone saw
- 25:37Speaker 1: this coming. Truly a number one type of cornerback already
- 25:42Speaker 1: as a rookie, only allowing twenty one yards per game,
- 25:45Speaker 1: and they're doing things with him like putting them on
- 25:48Speaker 1: opposing number one receivers on third down, tilting the safety
- 25:51Speaker 1: away from him so that he is in true one
- 25:54Speaker 1: on one situations with no safety help that you don't
- 25:57Speaker 1: do for veteran corners who are elite at the position
- 25:59Speaker 1: in the NFL. Some defense corners are still too worried
- 26:01Speaker 1: about that they're doing that. Roberts as for a rookie there,
- 26:04Speaker 1: so yeah, Sauce Gardner pretty special. Probably your favorite for
- 26:08Speaker 1: Rookie of the Year. Right now. Mike Renner from the
- 26:10Speaker 1: It's Just Football podcast and Pro Football Focus lead Draft
- 26:14Speaker 1: Daniel is always great to have you on, Mike. Thank you, sir.
- 26:17Speaker 1: If you're looking at a calendar, February was Super Bowl
- 26:21Speaker 1: fifty six. That's the day Odell Beckham Jr. Tour and
- 26:24Speaker 1: a CEO. He's not ready yet, but he's getting close,
- 26:28Speaker 1: which leads us to Dallas. Jerry Jones on the radio
- 26:32Speaker 1: yesterday was asked if he wanted Odell and he said,
- 26:38Speaker 1: I think the star would look good on the side
- 26:41Speaker 1: of his helmets. M of course it would. This one
- 26:45Speaker 1: makes a lot of sense. Go live to the Star. Well,
- 26:49Speaker 1: by the way, in Frisco, Texas, they call at the Star.
- 26:52Speaker 1: James later, is this real? You know? Andrew In talking
- 26:57Speaker 1: to a couple of my team sources, It's very real.
- 26:59Speaker 1: And typically I know Cowboys fans hate that. I wait,
- 27:02Speaker 1: wet blanket a lot of these free agent chases of
- 27:05Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys. But here is why the Cowboys are
- 27:08Speaker 1: considering it. Remember, it was a Marie Cooper that essentially
- 27:11Speaker 1: changed the trajectory of their offense, but they had to
- 27:13Speaker 1: give up a first round pick for him. In this case,
- 27:16Speaker 1: because ob j is a free agent. They just have
- 27:18Speaker 1: to come up with the money that makes sense. Now,
- 27:21Speaker 1: as it was described to me, it's hard to say
- 27:23Speaker 1: what his market looks like right now. And that's because
- 27:26Speaker 1: no team in the league, as he's coming back from
- 27:29Speaker 1: that injury to his A c L has been able
- 27:30Speaker 1: to assess him at their facilities or get their medical
- 27:33Speaker 1: staff and their hands on this. In other words, this
- 27:36Speaker 1: is his second a c L injury on his left knee,
- 27:39Speaker 1: and he's thirty years old. But you heard Jerry Jones
- 27:41Speaker 1: talking about his respect for him, his excitement about what
- 27:45Speaker 1: he looked like with the star on his helmet. I've
- 27:47Speaker 1: caught up with ob j in the past about the
- 27:49Speaker 1: prospect of coming to Dallas. He loved the fact there
- 27:51Speaker 1: was no state income tax, and our guy, Michael Irvin
- 27:54Speaker 1: seems to be very bullish on that. Talking about the
- 27:57Speaker 1: fact today it was on one of five through the
- 27:59Speaker 1: Fan saying that it sounded like the Cowboys have the
- 28:01Speaker 1: upper hand on him. Now here's what I would say.
- 28:04Speaker 1: The Cowboys are clearly looking for some help in their
- 28:06Speaker 1: wide receiver room. It has felt a little bit like
- 28:09Speaker 1: it's by committee. They've been waiting for Michael gallup to
- 28:11Speaker 1: sort of catch on after his injury. We've seen a
- 28:13Speaker 1: little inconsistency from Ceedee Lamb, but they did try in
- 28:17Speaker 1: good faith. I'm told to go after Brandon Cooks. The
- 28:19Speaker 1: issue there was it was simply gonna cost them too
- 28:22Speaker 1: many draft picks and a big guaranteed number. It's all
- 28:26Speaker 1: about making sure the money makes sense. But draft picks
- 28:29Speaker 1: around here are critical. If you look at a lot
- 28:32Speaker 1: of the players they've got on this team. They've built
- 28:34Speaker 1: this organization and this roster through the draft, and they've
- 28:37Speaker 1: certainly used a lot of those young guys here in
- 28:39Speaker 1: recent years. So we'll see how this shakes out. But
- 28:41Speaker 1: I can tell you this one looks like something the
- 28:44Speaker 1: Cowboys could be very all in one. I think it
- 28:46Speaker 1: makes a lot of sense, or from from a lot
- 28:48Speaker 1: of different angles. The question is when is he actually
- 28:50Speaker 1: going to be ready to not just get on the field,
- 28:52Speaker 1: would be good again and really be a game changer
- 28:55Speaker 1: on the field. This Sunday is exactly nine months to
- 28:58Speaker 1: the day from the Super Bowl and the injury. More importantly,
- 29:01Speaker 1: this Sunday is also by McCarthy's return to Lambeau. He
- 29:05Speaker 1: is a Packers team that has lost five in a row.
- 29:07Speaker 1: What are they saying They're about what they're expecting from
- 29:09Speaker 1: this Green Bay team. Well, Mike McCarthy did get a
- 29:13Speaker 1: little emotional this weekend. I thought we saw a lot
- 29:16Speaker 1: of emotion from even Aaron Rodgers talking about this on
- 29:18Speaker 1: the Pat McAfee show. Both these guys looking to sort
- 29:21Speaker 1: of hug it out after what seemed like an acrimonious relationship.
- 29:25Speaker 1: As Mike McCarthy of course no longer was with the Packers.
- 29:29Speaker 1: But time typically does heal all wounds. When we looked
- 29:32Speaker 1: at the schedule, this looked like a doozy for the Cowboys,
- 29:35Speaker 1: even without Aaron Rodgers. Having Davante Adams, I mean, we're
- 29:38Speaker 1: talking about a four time m VP player here, but
- 29:41Speaker 1: as you just mentioned, they are a three and six team.
- 29:43Speaker 1: They've lost their last five. Now, I would never count
- 29:46Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers out, but he doesn't have a lot of
- 29:48Speaker 1: weapons right now. This offense is averaging about seventeen points
- 29:51Speaker 1: a game, and by the way, he's also not getting
- 29:53Speaker 1: any favors from his offensive line sacked eighteen times this season.
- 29:56Speaker 1: He's going to square up against dan Quinn's defense that's
- 29:59Speaker 1: sacked UH teams at a rate of thirty three this season.
- 30:03Speaker 1: That's lead league league leading. I struck with that in
- 30:06Speaker 1: the last hour, Andrew, but this is going to be
- 30:09Speaker 1: an interesting test for them. We're not talking about snow
- 30:11Speaker 1: and Lambeau. We're talking about thirty seven degree weather. And
- 30:14Speaker 1: the last time we traveled up there was a huge
- 30:16Speaker 1: game for Dak Prescott. Dak Prescott also getting back at
- 30:18Speaker 1: least two weapons on offense this week is wide receiver
- 30:21Speaker 1: Noah Brown. And it looks like Ezekiel el Att is
- 30:23Speaker 1: trending in the direction to play on Sunday. If you
- 30:25Speaker 1: listen to Jerry Jones this week on one oh five
- 30:27Speaker 1: three the Fan, albeit we'll see if he was out
- 30:30Speaker 1: there at practice today. It sounds like if he does
- 30:32Speaker 1: play on Sunday, he'll be wearing a brace league leading.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I have trouble with it sometimes as well. I also
- 30:36Speaker 1: have trouble with Nick Shook, but I got it right
- 30:39Speaker 1: earlier last hour, so there's a win. Thanks for helping
- 30:42Speaker 1: me out, and Slater absolutely. NFL Now is a production
