Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to get right
• 0:06
Speaker 1: back to the Jess Staley transcript from his trip to Congress.
• 0:11
Speaker 1: Now we're picking up with Ms. Stansberry asking the questions. Question,
• 0:17
Speaker 1: one quick follow-up on Representative Ansari's questions. You visited the
• 0:22
Speaker 1: office of the Florida Science Foundation, correct? Staley? Staley? I
• 0:26
Speaker 1: didn't realize what the Florida Science Foundation, but I visited
• 0:29
Speaker 1: Epstein at an office building, correct? Question, okay, so your
• 0:34
Speaker 1: testimony is that you visited him in an office building
• 0:37
Speaker 1: for some organization that you had no knowledge of and
• 0:40
Speaker 1: were generally unaware of. Answer, that's correct. Question, okay, can
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: I ask a follow-up question? So I guess what I'm
• 0:47
Speaker 1: struggling with is generally to understand your testimony. So the
• 0:51
Speaker 1: incident that was just described by Representative Ansari happened in 2007.
• 0:59
Speaker 1: And your testimony that you just gave is that you
• 1:01
Speaker 1: remember it was less than an hour. You remember who
• 1:03
Speaker 1: was present, including a sheriff, correct? Staley, that's why I don't,
• 1:07
Speaker 1: whether we're talking about the same visit, because he was incarcerated. Mr.
• 1:11
Speaker 1: Sullivan jumps in, excuse me, excuse me. He could not
• 1:14
Speaker 1: have been in jail in 2007. He had not pled
• 1:16
Speaker 1: guilty until July of 2008. Stansberry, oh, okay, 2008. So... What?
• 1:23
Speaker 1: But the date is 2007 or 2008. But the follow-up
• 1:27
Speaker 1: question that I'm asking is actually not about that incident.
• 1:30
Speaker 1: It's more to establish the relevance that you recall the location,
• 1:34
Speaker 1: you recall the setting, you recall the persons who were present.
• 1:38
Speaker 1: But when you were asked extensively by our council about
• 1:41
Speaker 1: these incidents involving young women, including the so-called Snow White person,
• 1:45
Speaker 1: which happened years later in 2010, you're claiming you have
• 1:49
Speaker 1: no knowledge and no memory of these exchanges that you
• 1:51
Speaker 1: had with Mr. Epstein. and engagement with these women? Staley, again,
• 1:56
Speaker 1: that's a long question. So I met in an office
• 1:58
Speaker 1: building in Florida, I believe it was 2009, but I
• 2:01
Speaker 1: have no recollection of Snow White, Stansberry. So your testimony
• 2:06
Speaker 1: here today is, Staley, no, he gets cut off by Stansberry.
• 2:11
Speaker 1: Clearly remember an incident in which Staley cuts her off again.
• 2:16
Speaker 1: And again, when I was at the office building with
• 2:18
Speaker 1: Epstein in 2009, there was a sheriff in the same
• 2:21
Speaker 1: office the whole time. Stansberry, but the question is about
• 2:24
Speaker 1: your memory. You're claiming that you can remember the interaction
• 2:27
Speaker 1: you had with Mr. Epstein when you went and made
• 2:30
Speaker 1: a friendly visit while he was doing his sentence, but
• 2:33
Speaker 1: you have no recollection of these emails and exchanges that
• 2:36
Speaker 1: you had over a woman that was referenced to Snow
• 2:38
Speaker 1: White years later? That's your testimony here today? Staley, yes
• 2:42
Speaker 1: it is. Stansberry, okay, that's ridiculous, but thank you. Now
• 2:47
Speaker 1: it's Mr. Submeranium. Thank you for coming in today. Were
• 2:51
Speaker 1: you personally involved in conversations related to whether Jeffrey Epstein
• 2:55
Speaker 1: was a bank or a client of the bank? Staley. Yes. Question.
• 2:59
Speaker 1: Did you actively defend him when he was trying to
• 3:02
Speaker 1: get accounts? Answer. No. I left it to the bank's
• 3:05
Speaker 1: compliance department, legal department, and private bank to determine whether
• 3:09
Speaker 1: he maintained an account. Question. So at no point did
• 3:12
Speaker 1: you ever tell your colleagues that you vouched for him
• 3:15
Speaker 1: in any way or that you support him opening different
• 3:18
Speaker 1: accounts at the bank? Staley. Yes. I went to visit
• 3:21
Speaker 1: him when the allegations came out in 2006, and I said,
• 3:26
Speaker 1: he appeared shocked and denied the charges. But I let
• 3:28
Speaker 1: the bank and its compliance department, legal department, and private
• 3:31
Speaker 1: bank determine what and what type of business Epstein would
• 3:35
Speaker 1: continue to do with the bank or not. Question, but
• 3:38
Speaker 1: at no point did you ever say, we should bank
• 3:40
Speaker 1: this guy. We should let him open accounts. And you know,
• 3:44
Speaker 1: what he did in the past shouldn't play into that. Staley,
• 3:48
Speaker 1: the bank dramatically restricted what it would do with what
• 3:51
Speaker 1: it would allow Epstein to do with the bank, and I,
• 3:53
Speaker 1: you know, supported what the bank's decision was. Question, and
• 3:57
Speaker 1: the bank restricted it based on what criteria? Why would
• 4:01
Speaker 1: the bank restrict him? Staley, I think given what he
• 4:04
Speaker 1: was charged with, the bank, you know, made the decision
• 4:07
Speaker 1: to no longer basically allow him to engage with the
• 4:10
Speaker 1: private bank in investment activities, which is principally what they do,
• 4:14
Speaker 1: and I supported that decision. Question, but why was he
• 4:18
Speaker 1: allowed to stay with the bank? Answer, I think basically
• 4:22
Speaker 1: what he was left with was simply a checking account. Question,
• 4:26
Speaker 1: a checking account. And did you ever speak to Mr.
• 4:29
Speaker 1: Jamie Diamond about Mr. Epstein? Staley, yes. Question, and when
• 4:33
Speaker 1: was that? Staley, I believe once in 2006 when Epstein
• 4:37
Speaker 1: was indicted. And I believe once in 2008 when Epstein
• 4:40
Speaker 1: went to jail. Question, and did you speak to him
• 4:43
Speaker 1: about Mr. Epstein's charges? Staley, Mr. Epstein gets cut off
• 4:48
Speaker 1: by Submarinium Did you speak to Mr. Diamond about Epstein's charges? Staley, again,
• 4:54
  Speaker 1: I think in 2006, I think I just mentioned that
• 4:57
Speaker 1: a client of the bank, Jeffrey Epstein, had been indicted. Question,
• 5:01
Speaker 1: so you did not speak to Mr. Diamond? Because I
• 5:05
Speaker 1: believe you've said under oath that you've spoken to him
• 5:08
Speaker 1: about the fact that Mr. Epstein pleaded guilty to one
• 5:11
Speaker 1: count of soliciting prostitution and one count of soliciting prostitution
• 5:15
Speaker 1: from a minor. Staley, that was a second conversation. Submeranium,
• 5:21
Speaker 1: that was the second conversation, so you did talk to him.
• 5:25
Speaker 1: Because Mr. Diamond had said under oath that he does
• 5:28
Speaker 1: not recall knowing anything about Mr. Epstein until federal prosecutors
• 5:32
Speaker 1: charged Mr. Epstein with sex trafficking in 2019. So, I'm
• 5:36
Speaker 1: trying to understand why there's two recollections here. Staley, I
• 5:41
Speaker 1: don't know. Question okay. That's all of my questions. Now
• 5:45
Speaker 1: we have Mr. Walkinshaw. Thank you, Mr. Staley. I'm James
• 5:48
Speaker 1: Walkinshaw from Virginia's 11th District. The New York Times reported
• 5:52
Speaker 1: last year that in 2011, you informed Mr. Epstein that
• 5:56
Speaker 1: there were concerns inside J.P. Morgan about his large and
• 6:00
Speaker 1: regular cash withdrawals. Did you talk with Mr. Epstein about
• 6:03
Speaker 1: those concerns that existed within J.P. Morgan about his large
• 6:07
Speaker 1: cash withdrawals? Staley, can I see a transcript of that? Walkinshaw, yeah.
• 6:13
Speaker 1: I don't know what the exhibit number is. I think
• 6:15
  Speaker 1: we have the exhibit J. A September 8th, 2025 New
• 6:19
Speaker 1: York Times article. How J.P. Morgan enabled the crimes of
• 6:23
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein. And my pages aren't numbered, but it's page 23.
• 6:28
Speaker 1: See the paragraph on page 23? It's the first full paragraph.
• 6:32
Speaker 1: At the request of Lankford and other executives. Yeah, I'm sorry,
• 6:36
Speaker 1: the paragraph starts Staley and at least one other executive
• 6:39
Speaker 1: alerted Epstein. Sullivan, I think he wants you to read it. Staley, yeah,
• 6:44
Speaker 1: let me read this. Question. Question. If you need a
• 6:46
Speaker 1: few minutes to read it, we can go off record. Staley, okay,
• 6:49
Speaker 1: thank you. So they go off record, he reads it,
• 6:51
Speaker 1: they're back on. Okay, Mr. Staley, in or around 2011,
• 6:56
Speaker 1: did you alert Mr. Epstein about JP Morgan's heightened sensitivity
• 7:00
Speaker 1: about his constant cash withdrawals? Staley, that's what this article says, yes. Question,
• 7:06
Speaker 1: do you recall alerting him to that heightened sensitivity? Answer again,
• 7:10
Speaker 1: I don't recall the actual engagement, but quite possibly, yes.
• 7:14
Speaker 1: but I think I did, and I think Mary Erdos
• 7:17
Speaker 1: did as well. Question, I'm sorry, can you say that
• 7:19
Speaker 1: name again? Answer, I think I may have, and Mary Erdos. Walkinshaw, okay,
• 7:25
Speaker 1: so your testimony is that you may have alerted Epstein
• 7:28
Speaker 1: to the bank's concern. Staley, yes. Question, okay. When you
• 7:33
Speaker 1: perhaps informed Mr. Epstein that the bank was concerned about
• 7:36
Speaker 1: these cash withdrawals, were you trying to help him alter
• 7:39
Speaker 1: his behavior to avoid additional scrutiny? Staley, no. Question, no.
• 7:43
Speaker 1: What would have been the purpose of alerting him to
• 7:45
Speaker 1: the sensitivity within the bank about his cash withdrawals? Why
• 7:49
Speaker 1: would you have done it? Staley, I was more sort
• 7:52
Speaker 1: of asking him, is that true? Was he taking, you know,
• 7:57
Speaker 1: large cash withdrawals? Question, so presumably though, your colleagues at
• 8:01
Speaker 1: the bank would have told you that he was making
• 8:04
Speaker 1: large cash withdrawals, so why would you need to ask him? Question,
• 8:08
Speaker 1: just I guess rhetorically saying that the bank is asking
• 8:11
Speaker 1: about large cash withdrawals. Walkinshaw okay but it wasn't for
• 8:16
Speaker 1: the purpose of helping him to change his behavior so
• 8:19
Speaker 1: there wouldn't be additional uncomfortable questions asked within the bank
• 8:23
Speaker 1: Staley again I always let the private bank and you
• 8:25
Speaker 1: know and its staff if they had issues with Epstein
• 8:28
Speaker 1: to take it with Epstein if they had issues with
• 8:30
Speaker 1: his accounts to do what they deemed to be appropriate
• 8:33
Speaker 1: I never stood in the way of that Walkinshaw but
• 8:36
Speaker 1: in this instance you perhaps interfered answer I wouldn't call
• 8:40
Speaker 1: it interference question you made a decision to tell perhaps
• 8:43
Speaker 1: tell him that there were concerns within the bank. You
• 8:46
Speaker 1: weren't allowing others within the bank to handle it. Staley, no.
• 8:49
Speaker 1: I think other people, as I said, I think Mary
• 8:52
Speaker 1: Erdos talked to him as well. Walkinshaw, okay. By this
• 8:56
Speaker 1: time in 2011, there had been media reports that Mr.
• 8:59
Speaker 1: Epstein paid his victims in cash. Did you ever have
• 9:02
Speaker 1: conversations with either Mr. Epstein or with your colleagues at J.P.
• 9:06
Speaker 1: Morgan as to the fact that perhaps Mr. Epstein was
• 9:09
Speaker 1: paying sexual abuse victims with these cash withdrawals that you
• 9:13
Speaker 1: discussed with him? Staley, no. Question, did it ever cross
• 9:16
Speaker 1: your mind that perhaps these large cash withdrawals that you
• 9:20
Speaker 1: were aware of were related to either sexual abuse or
• 9:24
Speaker 1: him having sex with girls or young women? Staley, you know,
• 9:27
Speaker 1: you can go to jail for, you know, a year,
• 9:30
Speaker 1: and you've been convicted of abusing minors. It's just incredible
• 9:33
Speaker 1: to me that he would continue to do it after
• 9:35
Speaker 1: he got out of jail. Walkinshaw, at this point, you're
• 9:39
Speaker 1: a senior executive at J.P. Morgan. I presume over the
• 9:42
Speaker 1: course of your career, you attend trainings, briefings with respect
• 9:46
Speaker 1: to the role of the banks and large cash withdrawals
• 9:48
Speaker 1: in human trafficking and sex trafficking. Is that correct? Staley,
• 9:52
Speaker 1: I was sensitive to large cash withdrawals. Yeah. Okay. Question.
• 9:57
Speaker 1: So you have Jeffrey Epstein, who's a convicted sex offender.
• 10:00
Speaker 1: You then have knowledge he's making large cash withdrawals. You
• 10:03
Speaker 1: see him regularly in the presence of young women. Mr. Staley, no.
• 10:08
Speaker 1: Walkinshaw goes on, and it never crossed your mind that
• 10:11
Speaker 1: these large cash withdrawals might have been connected to any
• 10:14
Speaker 1: of the women that you saw in his presence? Staley again.
• 10:17
Speaker 1: I didn't see young women in his presence. So that
• 10:19
Speaker 1: part of your question, I think, is unfair. Question, how
• 10:23
Speaker 1: would you define young women? Staley, again, what I saw
• 10:28
Speaker 1: with his assistants, and I would say that they were
• 10:30
Speaker 1: in their later early 20s. Walk and show, okay, that's
• 10:34
Speaker 1: my time, thank you. So they're going to recess, so
• 10:37
Speaker 1: we're going to take a break too. And in the
• 10:39
Speaker 1: next episode dealing with the topic, we're going to pick
• 10:42
Speaker 1: up where we left off. And that's with Mr. Emmer
• 10:45
Speaker 1: asking some questions. All the information that goes with this
• 10:48
Speaker 1: episode can be found in the description box.
