- 0:00Speaker 1: Creative Mind and Success. By Ernest Holmes, 1919. A word
- 0:06Speaker 1: from the author. This foreword is being written in 1957
- 0:10Speaker 1: for the 19th printing of this little book. I have
- 0:14Speaker 1: just reread it probably for the first time since it
- 0:16Speaker 1: originally appeared in 1919. And as I read, I contemplated
- 0:21Speaker 1: what changes might have occurred in my thinking during these
- 0:23Speaker 1: 38 years, what revisions I might make in the manuscript
- 0:27Speaker 1: if I were writing it today. They were few, for
- 0:30Speaker 1: truth is ageless, timeless, changeless. We may have modified our
- 0:36Speaker 1: technique slightly, for we certainly should make improvements in nearly
- 0:39Speaker 1: four decades of experience with the law of mind in action.
- 0:43Speaker 1: For example, we no longer hold thoughts. We think positive
- 0:48Speaker 1: thoughts and then release them, charged with the spiritual energy
- 0:51Speaker 1: of faith, into the universal mind which is common to
- 0:54Speaker 1: all men. Neither do we use the power of will
- 0:57Speaker 1: to set the law in motion. We use our God-given
- 1:01Speaker 1: power of choice either to use the law constructively or destructively.
- 1:06Speaker 1: This much I know, that if I were writing this
- 1:08Speaker 1: book today, it would be penned with far greater conviction
- 1:11Speaker 1: than in 1919, for during these intervening years I have
- 1:15Speaker 1: witnessed proof in hundreds of cases that all is love,
- 1:18Speaker 1: yet all is law, in the realm of mind. At
- 1:21Speaker 1: that time I wrote, already thousands are using this great power,
- 1:25Speaker 1: and thousands are eagerly watching and waiting for the new day.
- 1:29Speaker 1: It is gratifying to note that during these thirty-eight years,
- 1:32Speaker 1: many more thousands have learned the truth that sets men free,
- 1:35Speaker 1: free from the man-made dogmas and superstitions that have fettered
- 1:38Speaker 1: man's thinking down through the centuries. I am more convinced
- 1:43Speaker 1: than ever that the science of mind, as expounded in
- 1:45Speaker 1: our textbook under that name, based upon the teachings of
- 1:48Speaker 1: Jesus and coordinated with the philosophy of other great thinkers
- 1:52Speaker 1: of the ages, is destined to become the new religion
- 1:54Speaker 1: for the new day. It is a self-evident truth that
- 1:58Speaker 1: if man is made in the spiritual image and likeness
- 2:00Speaker 1: of God, man's mind must be made out of God's mind,
- 2:03Speaker 1: also that man has the same power in his individual
- 2:06Speaker 1: life that God has in the universal. If it is
- 2:10Speaker 1: true that, as Jesus said, it is the Father within,
- 2:13Speaker 1: He doeth the works, then man's inner life is one
- 2:16Speaker 1: with the Father. Since all causation is mental, it follows
- 2:20Speaker 1: that if all things are created by the mind of
- 2:22Speaker 1: God and man's mind is part of God's mind, man
- 2:25Speaker 1: is able, by thinking, to set in motion a power
- 2:28Speaker 1: that creates. Of course, man does not create that power,
- 2:32Speaker 1: neither does he coerce it. It is his to use
- 2:35Speaker 1: either rightly or wrongly. It is always with him. It
- 2:40Speaker 1: never deserts him. It operates every moment of his life.
- 2:45Speaker 1: We need, therefore, only to clear our minds of unbelief,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and know that, it is done unto us as we believe.
- 2:53Speaker 1: In this spirit, We can think thoughts of success and
- 2:55Speaker 1: success will follow as surely as day follows night, for
- 2:58Speaker 1: our thought will not return unto us void. It is
- 3:02Speaker 1: the Father's good pleasure to give us the kingdom. We
- 3:05Speaker 1: need only accept it. Even when we fail, we are
- 3:09Speaker 1: proving that the law works according to our belief that
- 3:11Speaker 1: it will not work. Of course, we do not wish
- 3:15Speaker 1: to fail, but if our mental attitude is one of doubt,
- 3:18Speaker 1: then the result will be the outpicturing of our negative thoughts.
- 3:22Speaker 1: We can change the effect only by changing the cause,
- 3:25Speaker 1: by reversing our thoughts and believing that the good we
- 3:27Speaker 1: desire is already ours. Knowing this, we can no longer
- 3:31Speaker 1: blame others for our trouble. We recognize that, within ourselves
- 3:36Speaker 1: is the power to produce success or failure. Fear brings failure,
- 3:41Speaker 1: faith brings success. It's just that simple. If you keep
- 3:46Speaker 1: that in mind as you read the contents of this
- 3:48Speaker 1: Tittle book, you will find it a delightful spiritual adventure.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Ernest Holmes January, 1957 Part 1, Instruction and Inquiry into
- 3:58Speaker 1: the Truth An inquiry into truth is an inquiry into
- 4:02Speaker 1: the cause of things as the human race sees and
- 4:04Speaker 1: experiences them. The starting point of our thought must always
- 4:08Speaker 1: begin with our experiences. We all know that life is,
- 4:12Speaker 1: else we could not even think that we are. Since
- 4:15Speaker 1: we can think say and feel, we must be. We live,
- 4:20Speaker 1: we are conscious of life, therefore we must be and
- 4:22Speaker 1: life must be. If we are life and consciousness, self-knowing.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Then it follows that we must have come from life
- 4:31Speaker 1: and consciousness. Let us start, then, with this simple fact,
- 4:35Speaker 1: life is and life is conscious of itself. But what
- 4:39Speaker 1: is the nature of this life, is it physical, mental,
- 4:42Speaker 1: material or spiritual? A little careful thinking based upon logic.
- 4:47Speaker 1: more than any merely personal opinion, will do much in
- 4:50Speaker 1: clearing up some of these questions that at first seem
- 4:52Speaker 1: to stagger us with their bigness. How much of that
- 4:55Speaker 1: which is may we call life? The answer would have
- 4:59Speaker 1: to be. Life is all that there is, it is
- 5:02Speaker 1: the reason for all that we see, hear, feel, all
- 5:05Speaker 1: that we experience in any way. Now nothing from nothing
- 5:09Speaker 1: leaves nothing, and it is impossible for something to proceed
- 5:12Speaker 1: from nothing. Since something is, that from which it came
- 5:16Speaker 1: must be all that is. Life, then, is all that
- 5:20Speaker 1: there is. Everything comes from it, ourselves included. The next
- 5:25Speaker 1: question is, how do things come from life? How do
- 5:29Speaker 1: the things that we see come from the things that
- 5:31Speaker 1: we do not see? The things that we see must
- 5:35Speaker 1: be real because we see them. To say they are
- 5:38Speaker 1: not real will never explain them nor answer any question
- 5:41Speaker 1: about them. God's world is not a world of illusion
- 5:44Speaker 1: but one of divine realities. The truth must not explain
- 5:48Speaker 1: away things that we see. It must explain what they are.
- 5:53Speaker 1: We are living and experiencing varying degrees of consciousness and conditions.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Only when the why of this living and of our
- 6:00Speaker 1: experiences is understood will we know the least thing about
- 6:03Speaker 1: the truth. Jesus did not say that things are illusions.
- 6:08Speaker 1: He said that we must not judge from the standpoint
- 6:10Speaker 1: of the scene but must judge righteously or with right judgment,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and he meant that we must get behind the appearance
- 6:16Speaker 1: and find out what caused it. So let us not
- 6:19Speaker 1: in any way fool ourselves nor allow ourselves to believe
- 6:22Speaker 1: we have always been fooled. We are living in a
- 6:25Speaker 1: world of realities. Whatever we have experienced is a reality
- 6:30Speaker 1: insofar as that experience is concerned, although if we had
- 6:33Speaker 1: had a higher understanding of life, the unpleasant experience might
- 6:36Speaker 1: have been avoided. What life is. In the first place,
- 6:41Speaker 1: what do we mean by life? We mean that which
- 6:44Speaker 1: we see, feel, hear, touch or taste, and the reason
- 6:48Speaker 1: for it. We must have come into contact with all
- 6:51Speaker 1: we know of life. We have already found what life
- 6:55Speaker 1: is or we could not have had any of these experiences.
- 6:59Speaker 1: In the beginning was God, or life. Out of this
- 7:02Speaker 1: life which is, everything which is is made. So life
- 7:06Speaker 1: must flow through all things. There is no such thing
- 7:10Speaker 1: as dead matter. Moreover, life is one, and it cannot
- 7:14Speaker 1: be changed except into itself. All forms are forms of
- 7:18Speaker 1: this unity and must come and go through some inner activity.
- 7:22Speaker 1: This inner activity of life or nature must be some
- 7:25Speaker 1: form of self-consciousness or self-knowing. In our human understanding we
- 7:30Speaker 1: would call this inner knowing, or consciousness, thought. The spirit,
- 7:35Speaker 1: or life, or God, must make things out of himself,
- 7:38Speaker 1: through self-recognition or self-knowing or as we would call it, thinking.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Since God is all, there is nothing to hinder Him
- 7:45Speaker 1: from doing what He wishes, and the question, how do
- 7:48Speaker 1: things come into being, is answered, God makes them out
- 7:51Speaker 1: of Himself. God thinks, or knows, and that thing which
- 7:56Speaker 1: He thinks or knows appears from Himself, and is made
- 7:59Speaker 1: out of Himself. There is no other possible explanation for
- 8:03Speaker 1: what we see. Unless people are willing to begin here,
- 8:06Speaker 1: they will never understand how it is that things are
- 8:09Speaker 1: not material but spiritual. Man's place in creation. But where
- 8:14Speaker 1: does man come in? He is. Therefore it follows that he, too,
- 8:20Speaker 1: is made out of God, since God, or spirit, is all.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Being made out of God, we must partake of his nature,
- 8:28Speaker 1: for we are made in his image. Man is a
- 8:32Speaker 1: center of God in God. Whatever God is in the universal,
- 8:36Speaker 1: man must be in the individual world. The difference between
- 8:40Speaker 1: God and man is one of degree and not of quality.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Man is not self-made, he is made out of God.
- 8:47Speaker 1: The question might arise, why did God do this? No
- 8:51Speaker 1: living person can answer this question. This is something that
- 8:55Speaker 1: is known only of the Father. We might suppose that
- 8:58Speaker 1: God made man to live with Him and to enjoy
- 9:01Speaker 1: with Him, to be one with the Father. It is true, indeed,
- 9:05Speaker 1: that those who have felt this most deeply have had
- 9:07Speaker 1: a corresponding spiritual power that leads us to suppose that
- 9:10Speaker 1: God really did make man as a companion. Man is
- 9:14Speaker 1: the individual and God is the universal. For as the
- 9:18Speaker 1: Father has life in Himself, so has He given to
- 9:20Speaker 1: the Son to have life in Himself. Man's mind is
- 9:24Speaker 1: made out of God's mind, and all that man is
- 9:27Speaker 1: or ever will be, all that he has or ever
- 9:29Speaker 1: will have, must partake of the divine nature. Man did
- 9:33Speaker 1: not make it so, but it is so, and he
- 9:36Speaker 1: must accept the fact and see what he can do
- 9:38Speaker 1: with it. If he has the same power in his
- 9:40Speaker 1: individual life that God has in the universal, then this
- 9:44Speaker 1: discovery will mean freedom from all bondage when he learns
- 9:46Speaker 1: how to use his power. As God governs his universal
- 9:51Speaker 1: world so will man govern his individual world, always subject
- 9:54Speaker 1: to the greater law and life. This could not be
- 9:57Speaker 1: otherwise if we realize what follows from it. God governs
- 9:50Speaker 1: not through physical law as result, but first by inner knowing,
- 9:52Speaker 1: then the physical follows. In the same way, man governs
- 9:54Speaker 1: his world by the process which we will call, for
- 9:57Speaker 1: want of a better name, the power of his thought.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Man's inner life is one with the Father. There can
- 10:24Speaker 1: be no separation, for the self-evident reason that there is
- 10:28Speaker 1: nothing to separate him from God, because there is nothing
- 10:31Speaker 1: but life. The separation of two things implies putting a
- 10:34Speaker 1: different element between them but as there is nothing different
- 10:37Speaker 1: from God, the unity of God and man is firmly
- 10:40Speaker 1: established forever. My Father and I are one, is a
- 10:44Speaker 1: simple statement of a great soul who perceived life as
- 10:47Speaker 1: it really is and not from the mere standpoint of
- 10:49Speaker 1: outer conditions. Taking as the starting point that man has
- 10:53Speaker 1: the same life as God, it follows that he uses
- 10:56Speaker 1: the same creative process. Everything is one, comes from the
- 11:00Speaker 1: same source and returns again to it. The things which
- 11:03Speaker 1: are seen are not made of the things which do appear.
- 11:07Speaker 1: What we see comes from what we do not see.
- 11:10Speaker 1: This is the explanation of the whole visible universe, and
- 11:13Speaker 1: is the only possible explanation. As God's thought makes worlds
- 11:18Speaker 1: and peoples them with all living things, so does our
- 11:20Speaker 1: thought make our world and peoples it with all the
- 11:22Speaker 1: experiences we have had. By the activity of our thought
- 11:26Speaker 1: things come into our life, and we are limited because
- 11:29Speaker 1: we have not known the truth. We have thought that
- 11:32Speaker 1: outside things controlled us, when all the time we have
- 11:35Speaker 1: had that within which could have changed everything and given
- 11:38Speaker 1: us freedom from bondage. The question, then, naturally arises, why
- 11:43Speaker 1: did God create man and make him a free agent?
- 11:46Speaker 1: If God had created us in such a way as
- 11:49Speaker 1: to compel us to do or to be anything that
- 11:51Speaker 1: was not of our choosing, we should not have been
- 11:53Speaker 1: individuals at all, we should be automatons. Since we know
- 11:57Speaker 1: that we are individuals, we know that God made us thus.
- 12:01Speaker 1: And we are just discovering the reason why. Let any
- 12:05Speaker 1: man wake up to this, the greatest truth in all ages,
- 12:08Speaker 1: and he will find it will answer all questions. He
- 12:12Speaker 1: will be satisfied that things are what they are. He
- 12:15Speaker 1: will perceive that he may use his own God-given power
- 12:18Speaker 1: so to work, to think and to live that he
- 12:20Speaker 1: will in no way hinder the greater law from operating
- 12:22Speaker 1: through him. According to the clearness of his perception and
- 12:26Speaker 1: the greatness of his realization of this power will he
- 12:29Speaker 1: provide within himself a starting point through which God may operate.
- 12:33Speaker 1: There will no longer be a sense of separation, but
- 12:36Speaker 1: in its place will come that divine assurance that he
- 12:38Speaker 1: is one with God, and thus will he find his
- 12:40Speaker 1: freedom from all suffering, whether it be of body, mind
- 12:44Speaker 1: or estate. The Beginning of Understanding Man is beginning to
- 12:49Speaker 1: realize that he has life within himself as the great
- 12:52Speaker 1: gift of God to him. If he really has life,
- 12:55Speaker 1: if it is the same nature as the life of God,
- 12:58Speaker 1: if he is an individual and has the right of
- 13:00Speaker 1: self-choice which constitutes individuality then it follows that he can
- 13:03Speaker 1: do with his life what he wants to do, he
- 13:05Speaker 1: can make out of himself that which he wishes. Freedom
- 13:09Speaker 1: is his, but this freedom is within law and never
- 13:11Speaker 1: outside it. Man must obey law. If he disobeys it,
- 13:17Speaker 1: it has to act as law, and so acting has
- 13:19Speaker 1: to punish him. This he cannot change but must submit to.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Freedom comes to the individual from understanding the laws of
- 13:27Speaker 1: his own life, and conforming to them, thereby subjecting them
- 13:31Speaker 1: to his use, to the end of health, happiness and success.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Law obtains throughout all nature, governing all things, both the
- 13:39Speaker 1: seen and the unseen. Law is not physical or material
- 13:43Speaker 1: but mental and spiritual. Law is God's method of operation.
- 13:49Speaker 1: We should think of God as the Great Spirit whose
- 13:51Speaker 1: sole impulse is love, freely giving of Himself to all
- 13:54Speaker 1: who ask and refusing none. God is our Father in
- 13:58Speaker 1: every sense of the term, watching over, caring for and
- 14:01Speaker 1: loving all alike. While all is love, yet, in order
- 14:05Speaker 1: that things may not be chaotic, all is governed by law.
- 14:09Speaker 1: And as far as you and I are concerned, this
- 14:11Speaker 1: law is always mental. Our conditions governed by our thinking.
- 14:17Speaker 1: It is easy for the average person to see how
- 14:19Speaker 1: it is that mind can control, and to a certain
- 14:22Speaker 1: extent govern, the functions of the body. Some can go
- 14:26Speaker 1: even further than this and see that the body is
- 14:28Speaker 1: governed entirely by consciousness. This they can see without much difficulty.
- 14:33Speaker 1: but it is not so easy for them to see
- 14:35Speaker 1: how it is that thought governs their conditions and decides
- 14:38Speaker 1: whether they are to be successes or failures. Here we
- 14:41Speaker 1: will stop to ask the question. If our conditions are
- 14:45Speaker 1: not controlled by thought, by what, then, are they controlled?
- 14:50Speaker 1: Some will say that conditions are controlled by circumstances. But
- 14:54Speaker 1: what are circumstances? Are they cause or are they effect?
- 14:59Speaker 1: Of course they are always effect, everything that we see
- 15:02Speaker 1: is an effect. An effect is something that follows a cause,
- 15:06Speaker 1: and we are dealing with causation only, effects do not
- 15:09Speaker 1: make themselves, but they are held in place by mind,
- 15:12Speaker 1: or causation. If this does not answer your thought, begin
- 15:17Speaker 1: over again and realize that behind everything that is seen
- 15:19Speaker 1: is the silent cause. In your life you are that cause.
- 15:24Speaker 1: There is nothing but mind, and nothing moves except as
- 15:27Speaker 1: mind moves it. We have agreed that, while God is love,
- 15:31Speaker 1: yet your life is governed absolutely by mind, or law.
- 15:36Speaker 1: In our lives of conditions we are the cause, and
- 15:38Speaker 1: nothing moves except as our mind moves it. The activity
- 15:42Speaker 1: of our mind is thought. We are always acting because
- 15:46Speaker 1: we are always thinking. At all times we are either
- 15:50Speaker 1: drawing things to us or we are pushing them away
- 15:52Speaker 1: from us. In the ordinary individual this process goes on
- 15:56Speaker 1: without his ever knowing it consciously, but ignorance of the
- 15:59Speaker 1: law will excuse no one from its effects. What, someone
- 16:03Speaker 1: will say, do you think that I thought failure or
- 16:05Speaker 1: wanted to fail? Of course not. You would be foolish
- 16:10Speaker 1: to think that. But according to the law which we
- 16:13Speaker 1: cannot deny, you must have thought things that would produce failure.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Perhaps you thought that failure might come, or in some
- 16:20Speaker 1: other way you gave it entrance to your mind. Thinking
- 16:24Speaker 1: back over the reason for things, you will find that
- 16:26Speaker 1: you are surrounded by a mind or law that casts
- 16:29Speaker 1: back at the thinker, manifested, everything that he thinks. If
- 16:34Speaker 1: this were not true, man would not be an individual.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Individuality can mean only the ability to think what we
- 16:41Speaker 1: want to think. If that thought is to have power
- 16:44Speaker 1: in our lives then there has to be something that
- 16:46Speaker 1: will manifest it. Some are limited and bound by law
- 16:49Speaker 1: through ignorance. This law is sometimes called karma, it is
- 16:54Speaker 1: the law that binds the ignorant and gives freedom to
- 16:56Speaker 1: the wise. We live in mind, and it can return
- 17:00Speaker 1: to us only what we think into it. No matter
- 17:03Speaker 1: what we may do, law will always obtain. If we
- 17:07Speaker 1: are thinking of ourselves as poor and needy, then mind
- 17:10Speaker 1: has no choice but to return what we have thought
- 17:12Speaker 1: into it. At first this may be hard to realize,
- 17:16Speaker 1: but the truth will reveal to the seeker that law
- 17:18Speaker 1: could act in no other way. Whatever we think is
- 17:22Speaker 1: the pattern, and mind is the builder. Jesus, realizing this law, said,
- 17:27Speaker 1: It is done unto you even as you have believed.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Shall we doubt but that this great way Shower knew
- 17:33Speaker 1: what he was talking about? Did he not say, It
- 17:36Speaker 1: is done unto you? What a wonderful thought! It is
- 17:41Speaker 1: done unto you. Nothing to worry about. It is done
- 17:45Speaker 1: unto you. With a tremendous grasp of the power of
- 17:49Speaker 1: true spiritual thought, Jesus even called forth bread from the
- 17:52Speaker 1: ethers of life, and at no time did he ever
- 17:55Speaker 1: fail to demonstrate that when one knows the truth he
- 17:57Speaker 1: is freed by that knowledge. Unconscious Creation The author once
- 18:02Speaker 1: attended a patient who was suffering from a large growth.
- 18:06Speaker 1: She was operated on and about 50 pounds of water
- 18:09Speaker 1: were removed. In a few days the growth had returned.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Where did it come from? Not from eating or drinking.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Neither did it move from one part of the body
- 18:20Speaker 1: to another part, as that would not have increased her weight.
- 18:24Speaker 1: It must have been created from elements which she took
- 18:26Speaker 1: in from the air. It had to come from something
- 18:30Speaker 1: not physically seen, something appearing from nothing that we see.
- 18:34Speaker 1: What we call creation is the same thing, the visible
- 18:37Speaker 1: appearing from the invisible. Was not this phenomenon a creation?
- 18:42Speaker 1: Cases as remarkable as this are occurring every day. We
- 18:46Speaker 1: should not deny this fact but try to explain it.
- 18:50Speaker 1: In the case of this woman there must have been
- 18:52Speaker 1: an activity of thought molded forth into form, else how
- 18:54Speaker 1: could this growth have appeared? There is nothing manifest but
- 18:59Speaker 1: that there is a cause for the manifestation. Investigation proves
- 19:03Speaker 1: that behind every condition, whether of body or environment, there
- 19:06Speaker 1: has been some thought, conscious or unconscious, which produced that condition.
- 19:12Speaker 1: In the case of this woman the thought was not conscious.
- 19:15Speaker 1: But creation is going on all the time, we should
- 19:18Speaker 1: realize this and learn how to control it so that
- 19:20Speaker 1: there may be created for us the things that we
- 19:22Speaker 1: desire and not those that we do not want. Is
- 19:26Speaker 1: it any wonder that the Bible says, With all thy
- 19:28Speaker 1: getting get understanding? Jesus understood all this, and so it
- 19:32Speaker 1: was no more effort for Him to do what He
- 19:34Speaker 1: did than it is for us to breathe or to
- 19:36Speaker 1: digest our food. He understood, that is all. Because Jesus
- 19:42Speaker 1: did understand and did use these great laws with objective consciousness,
- 19:46Speaker 1: people thought he must be God. And when today something
- 19:49Speaker 1: unusual occurs, people think that a miracle has been performed.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Jesus was not God. He was the manifestation of God,
- 19:59Speaker 1: and so are all people. I say that ye are gods,
- 20:02Speaker 1: and every one of you sons of the Most High.
- 20:05Speaker 1: A thinking person will be compelled to admit, in view
- 20:08Speaker 1: of all this, that creation is first spiritual, through mental law,
- 20:13Speaker 1: and then physical in its manifestation. Man does not really create.
- 20:18Speaker 1: He uses creative power that already is. Relatively speaking, he
- 20:23Speaker 1: is the creative power in his own life. And so
- 20:27Speaker 1: far as his thought goes, there is something that goes
- 20:29Speaker 1: with it that has the power to bring forth into
- 20:32Speaker 1: manifestation the thing thought of. Hitherto men have used this
- 20:36Speaker 1: creative power in ignorance and so have brought upon themselves
- 20:39Speaker 1: all kinds of conditions, but today hundreds of thousands are
- 20:42Speaker 1: beginning to use these great laws of their being in
- 20:44Speaker 1: a conscious, constructive way. Herein lies the great secret of
- 20:48Speaker 1: the new thought movements under their various names and cults
- 20:51Speaker 1: and orders. All are using the same law even though
- 20:55Speaker 1: some deny to others the real revelation. We should get
- 20:59Speaker 1: into an attitude of mind wherein we recognize the truth
- 21:02Speaker 1: wherever we find it. The trouble with most of us
- 21:05Speaker 1: is that unless we see sugar in a sugar bowl
- 21:07Speaker 1: we think it must be something else, and so we
- 21:09Speaker 1: stick to our petty prejudices instead of looking after principles.
- 21:14Speaker 1: First Steps The first thing to realize is that since
- 21:18Speaker 1: any thought manifests it necessarily follows that all thought does
- 21:21Speaker 1: the same, else how should we know that the particular
- 21:24Speaker 1: thought we were thinking would be the one that would create?
- 21:27Speaker 1: Mind must cast back all or none. Just as the
- 21:30Speaker 1: creative power of the soil receives all seeds put into it,
- 21:34Speaker 1: and at once begins to work upon them, so mind
- 21:36Speaker 1: must receive all thought and at once begin to operate
- 21:39Speaker 1: upon it. Thus we find that all thought has some
- 21:42Speaker 1: power in our lives and over our conditions. We are
- 21:46Speaker 1: making our environments by the creative power of our thought.
- 21:50Speaker 1: God has created us thus and we cannot escape it.
- 21:53Speaker 1: By conforming our lives and thought to a greater understanding
- 21:56Speaker 1: of law we shall be able to bring into our
- 21:58Speaker 1: experience just what we wish. letting go of all that
- 22:01Speaker 1: we do not want to experience and taking in the
- 22:03Speaker 1: things we desire. Every person is surrounded by a thought atmosphere.
- 22:09Speaker 1: This mental atmosphere is the direct result of thought which
- 22:12Speaker 1: in its turn becomes the direct reason for the cause
- 22:14Speaker 1: of that which comes into our lives. Through this power
- 22:17Speaker 1: we are either attracting or repelling. Like attracts like and
- 22:21Speaker 1: we attract to us just what we are in mind.
- 22:24Speaker 1: It is also true that we become attracted to something
- 22:27Speaker 1: that is greater than our previous experience by first embodying
- 22:30Speaker 1: the atmosphere of our desire. Every business, every place, every person,
- 22:36Speaker 1: everything has a certain mental atmosphere of its own. This
- 22:40Speaker 1: atmosphere decides what is to be drawn to it. For instance,
- 22:44Speaker 1: you never saw a successful man who went around with
- 22:46Speaker 1: an atmosphere of failure. Successful people think about success. A
- 22:52Speaker 1: successful man is filled with that subtle something which permeates
- 22:55Speaker 1: everything that he does with an atmosphere of confidence and strength.
- 23:00Speaker 1: In the presence of some people we feel as though
- 23:02Speaker 1: nothing were too great to undertake, we are uplifted, we
- 23:05Speaker 1: are inspired to do great things, to accomplish, we feel strong, steady, sure.
- 23:11Speaker 1: What a power we feel in the presence of big souls,
- 23:14Speaker 1: strong men, noble women. Did you ever stop to inquire
- 23:18Speaker 1: why it is that such persons have this kind of
- 23:21Speaker 1: an effect over you while others seem to depress, to
- 23:23Speaker 1: drag you down, and in their presence you feel as
- 23:25Speaker 1: though life were a load to carry? One type is positive,
- 23:30Speaker 1: the other negative. In every physical respect they are just alike,
- 23:34Speaker 1: but one has a mental and spiritual power which the
- 23:37Speaker 1: other does not have, and without that power the individual
- 23:40Speaker 1: can hope to do but little. Which of these two
- 23:43Speaker 1: do we like the better? With which do we want
- 23:46Speaker 1: to associate? Certainly not with the one that depresses us,
- 23:50Speaker 1: we have enough of that already. But what about the
- 23:53Speaker 1: man who inspires us with our own worth? Ah, he
- 23:57Speaker 1: is the man to whom we will turn every time.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Before ever we reach him, in our haste to be near,
- 24:03Speaker 1: even to hear his voice, do we not feel a
- 24:05Speaker 1: strength coming to meet us? Do you think that this
- 24:09Speaker 1: man who has such a wonderful power of attraction will
- 24:11Speaker 1: ever want for friends? Will he ever have to look
- 24:14Speaker 1: up a position? Already so many positions are open to
- 24:18Speaker 1: him that he is weighing in his mind which one
- 24:20Speaker 1: to take. He does not have to become a success,
- 24:24Speaker 1: he already is a success. Thoughts of failure, limitation, or
- 24:29Speaker 1: poverty are negative and must be counted out of our
- 24:31Speaker 1: lives for all time. Somebody will say, but what of
- 24:35Speaker 1: the poor, what are you going to do with them,
- 24:37Speaker 1: are they to be left without help? No, a thousand
- 24:41Speaker 1: times no. The same power is in them that is
- 24:44Speaker 1: in all men. They will always be poor until they
- 24:47Speaker 1: awake and realize what life is. All the charity on
- 24:51Speaker 1: earth has never done away with poverty, and never will,
- 24:54Speaker 1: if it could have done so it would have done so.
- 24:58Speaker 1: It could not, therefore it has not. It will do
- 25:01Speaker 1: a man a thousand times more good to show him
- 25:03Speaker 1: how to succeed than it will to tell him he
- 25:05Speaker 1: needs charity. We need not listen to all the calamity howlers.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Let them howl if it does them any good. God
- 25:13Speaker 1: has given us a power and we must use it.
- 25:16Speaker 1: We can do more toward saving the world by proving
- 25:19Speaker 1: this law than all that charity has ever given it.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Right here, in the manifold world today, there is more
- 25:25Speaker 1: money and provision than the world can use. Not even
- 25:29Speaker 1: a fraction of the wealth of the world is used.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Inventors and discoverers are adding to this wealth every day,
- 25:36Speaker 1: they are the real people. But in the midst of plenty,
- 25:39Speaker 1: surrounded by all the gifts of heaven, man sits and
- 25:42Speaker 1: begs for his daily bread. He should be taught to
- 25:45Speaker 1: realize that he has brought these conditions upon himself that
- 25:48Speaker 1: instead of blaming God, man, or the devil for the
- 25:51Speaker 1: circumstances by which he is surrounded, he should learn to
- 25:54Speaker 1: seek the truth, to let the dead bury their dead.
- 25:58Speaker 1: We should tell every man who will believe what his
- 26:00Speaker 1: real nature is, show him how to overcome all limitations,
- 26:04Speaker 1: give him courage, show him the way if he will
- 26:06Speaker 1: not believe, if he will not walk in the way,
- 26:09Speaker 1: it is not our fault, and having done all we can,
- 26:12Speaker 1: we must go our way. We may sympathize with people
- 26:15Speaker 1: but never with trouble, limitation or misery. If people still
- 26:20Speaker 1: insist upon hugging their troubles to themselves, all the charity
- 26:23Speaker 1: in the world will not help them. Remember that God
- 26:27Speaker 1: is that silent power behind all things, always ready to
- 26:30Speaker 1: spring into expression when we have provided the proper channels,
- 26:34Speaker 1: which are receptive and positive faith in the evidence of
- 26:36Speaker 1: things not seen with the physical eye but eternal in
- 26:39Speaker 1: the heavens. All is mind, and we must provide a
- 26:42Speaker 1: receptive avenue for it as it passes out through us
- 26:45Speaker 1: into the outer expression of our affairs. If we allow
- 26:49Speaker 1: the world's opinion to control our thinking, then that will
- 26:51Speaker 1: be our demonstration. If, on the other hand, we rise
- 26:56Speaker 1: superior to the world, we shall do a new thing.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Remember that all people are making demonstrations, only most of
- 27:03Speaker 1: them are making the ones they do not desire, but
- 27:05Speaker 1: the only ones they can't make with their present powers
- 27:08Speaker 1: of perception. How to attain strength Let us see that
- 27:12Speaker 1: we use the right attitude of mind in all that
- 27:14Speaker 1: we do, filling ourselves with such courage and power of
- 27:17Speaker 1: strength that all thought of weakness flees before us. If
- 27:22Speaker 1: any thought of weakness should come, ask this question, is
- 27:25Speaker 1: life weak? If life is not weak and if God
- 27:28Speaker 1: is not discouraged, then you are not, never were, and
- 27:32Speaker 1: never will be. I should like to see the sickly,
- 27:35Speaker 1: discouraged thought that could withstand this attitude of mind. No.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Life is strong, and you are strong with the strength
- 27:43Speaker 1: of the infinite, forget all else as you revel in
- 27:45Speaker 1: this strength. You are strong and can say I am.
- 27:50Speaker 1: You have been laboring under an illusion, now you are disillusioned.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Now you know, and knowing is using the law in
- 27:57Speaker 1: a constructive way. I and my Father are one, this
- 28:01Speaker 1: is strength for the weak, and life for all who believe.
- 28:05Speaker 1: We can so fill ourselves with the drawing power of
- 28:07Speaker 1: attraction that it will become irresistible. Nothing can hinder things
- 28:11Speaker 1: from coming to the man who knows that he is
- 28:13Speaker 1: dealing with the same power that creates all from itself,
- 28:16Speaker 1: moves all within itself, and yet holds all things in
- 28:19Speaker 1: their places. I am one with the infinite mind. Let
- 28:24Speaker 1: this ring through you many times each day until you
- 28:27Speaker 1: rise to that height that, looking, sees. In order to
- 28:31Speaker 1: be sure that we are creating the right kind of
- 28:33Speaker 1: a mental atmosphere and so attracting what we want, we
- 28:36Speaker 1: must at first watch our thinking. lest we create that
- 28:38Speaker 1: which we should not like to see manifest. In other words,
- 28:42Speaker 1: we must think only what we wish to experience. All
- 28:46Speaker 1: is mind, and mind casts back at the thinker that
- 28:49Speaker 1: only which he thinks. Nothing ever happens by chance. Law
- 28:54Speaker 1: governs all life, and all people come under that law.
- 28:58Speaker 1: But that law, so far as we are concerned, we
- 29:01Speaker 1: ourselves set in motion, and we do this through the
- 29:04Speaker 1: power of our thought. Each person is living in a
- 29:07Speaker 1: world of his own making, and he should speak only
- 29:10Speaker 1: such words and think only such thoughts as he wishes
- 29:12Speaker 1: to see manifested in his life. We must not hear, think, speak,
- 29:17Speaker 1: read or listen to limitation of any kind. There is
- 29:21Speaker 1: no way under heaven whereby we can think two kinds
- 29:24Speaker 1: of thought and get only one result, it is impossible,
- 29:27Speaker 1: and the sooner we realize it the sooner we shall arrive.
- 29:31Speaker 1: This does not mean that we must be afraid to
- 29:33Speaker 1: think lest we create the wrong image, but it does
- 29:35Speaker 1: mean that the way most people think can produce nothing
- 29:38Speaker 1: but failure, that is why so few succeed. The person
- 29:42Speaker 1: who is to succeed will never let his mind dwell
- 29:44Speaker 1: on past mistakes. He will forgive the past in his
- 29:48Speaker 1: life and in the lives of other people. If he
- 29:51Speaker 1: makes a mistake he will at once forgive it. He
- 29:54Speaker 1: will know that so long as he desires any good,
- 29:57Speaker 1: there is nowhere in the universe anything that opposes him.
- 30:01Speaker 1: God does not damn anyone or anything, man damns everyone
- 30:04Speaker 1: and everything. God does not make things by comparing his
- 30:08Speaker 1: power with some other power. God knows that when he
- 30:11Speaker 1: speaks it is done. And if we partake of the
- 30:15Speaker 1: divine nature we must know the same thing in our
- 30:17Speaker 1: lives that God knows in his. I am the master
- 30:20Speaker 1: of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.
- 30:24Speaker 1: What we will attract. We will always attract to us,
- 30:28Speaker 1: in our lives and conditions, according to our thought. Things
- 30:32Speaker 1: are but outer manifestations of inner mental concepts. Thought is
- 30:36Speaker 1: not only power, it is also the form of all things.
- 30:40Speaker 1: The conditions that we attract will correspond exactly to our
- 30:43Speaker 1: mental pictures. It is quite necessary, then, that the successful
- 30:48Speaker 1: businessman should keep his mind on thoughts of happiness, which
- 30:51Speaker 1: produce cheerfulness instead of depression. He should radiate joy, and
- 30:56Speaker 1: should be filled with faith, hope and expectancy. These cheerful,
- 31:01Speaker 1: hopeful attitudes of mind are indispensable to the one who
- 31:04Speaker 1: really wants to do things in life. Put every negative
- 31:07Speaker 1: thought out of your mind once and for all. Declare
- 31:11Speaker 1: your freedom. Know that no matter what others may say,
- 31:15Speaker 1: think or do, you are a success, now, and nothing
- 31:18Speaker 1: can hinder you from accomplishing your good. All the power
- 31:22Speaker 1: of the universe is with you. Feel it, know it,
- 31:26Speaker 1: and then act as though it were true. This mental
- 31:29Speaker 1: attitude alone will draw people and things to you. Begin
- 31:33Speaker 1: to blot out, one by one, all false beliefs, all
- 31:36Speaker 1: idea that man is limited or poor or miserable. Use
- 31:40Speaker 1: that wonderful power of choice that God has given to you.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Refuse to think of failure or to doubt your own power.
- 31:48Speaker 1: See only what you wish to experience, and look at
- 31:51Speaker 1: nothing else. No matter how many times the old thought returns,
- 31:56Speaker 1: destroy it by knowing that it has no power over you,
- 31:59Speaker 1: look it squarely in the face and tell it to go,
- 32:01Speaker 1: it does not belong to you, and you must know
- 32:03Speaker 1: and stick to it that you are now free. Rise
- 32:06Speaker 1: up in all the faith of one who knows what
- 32:08Speaker 1: he is dealing with, and declare that you are one
- 32:11Speaker 1: with infinite mind. Know that you cannot get away from
- 32:14Speaker 1: this one mind. That wherever you may go, there, right
- 32:19Speaker 1: beside you, waiting to be used, is all the power
- 32:22Speaker 1: there is in the whole universe. When you realize this
- 32:25Speaker 1: you will know that in union with this, the only power,
- 32:28Speaker 1: you are more than all else, you are more than
- 32:31Speaker 1: anything that can ever happen to you. More about the
- 32:34Speaker 1: power of attraction. Always remember that spirit makes things out
- 32:38Speaker 1: of itself, it manifests in the visible world by becoming
- 32:42Speaker 1: the thing that it wills to become. In the world
- 32:45Speaker 1: of the individual the same process takes place. It is
- 32:49Speaker 1: given to man to use creative power, but with the
- 32:51Speaker 1: using of this power comes the necessity of using it
- 32:54Speaker 1: as it is made to be used. If God makes
- 32:57Speaker 1: things out of his thought before they come into manifestation,
- 33:00Speaker 1: then we must use the same method. You can attract
- 33:04Speaker 1: only that which you first mentally become and feel yourself
- 33:06Speaker 1: to be in reality, without any doubting. A steady stream
- 33:11Speaker 1: of consciousness going out into creative mind will attract a
- 33:14Speaker 1: steady manifestation of conditions. a fluctuating stream of consciousness will
- 33:18Speaker 1: attract the corresponding manifestation or condition in your life. We
- 33:22Speaker 1: must be consistent in our attitude of mind, never wavering.
- 33:27Speaker 1: James says, Ask in faith, nothing doubting, for he that
- 33:30Speaker 1: doubteth is like a surge of the sea driven by
- 33:33Speaker 1: the wind and tossed. For let not that man think
- 33:36Speaker 1: that he shall receive anything of the Lord. We are
- 33:40Speaker 1: all immersed in an aura of our own making. This
- 33:43Speaker 1: aura is the direct result of all that we have
- 33:45Speaker 1: ever said, thought or done, it decides what is to
- 33:48Speaker 1: take place in our life, it attracts what is like
- 33:50Speaker 1: itself and repels what is unlike itself. We are drawn
- 33:54Speaker 1: toward those things that we mentally embody. Most of the
- 33:58Speaker 1: inner processes of thought have been unconscious. But when we
- 34:02Speaker 1: understand the law all that we have to do is
- 34:04Speaker 1: to embody consciously what we wish, and think of that only,
- 34:08Speaker 1: and then we shall be drawn silently toward it. We
- 34:11Speaker 1: have this law in our hands to do with as
- 34:13Speaker 1: we will. We can draw what we want only as
- 34:16Speaker 1: we let go of the old order and take up
- 34:18Speaker 1: the new, and this we must do to the exclusion
- 34:20Speaker 1: of all else. This is no weak man's job but
- 34:24Speaker 1: an undertaking for a strong, self-reliant soul, and the end
- 34:27Speaker 1: is worth the effort. The person who can keep his
- 34:31Speaker 1: thoughts one-pointed is the one who will obtain the best results.
- 34:35Speaker 1: But this does not imply the necessity of strain or
- 34:37Speaker 1: anything of a strenuous nature, on the contrary, strain is
- 34:41Speaker 1: just what we must avoid. When we know that there
- 34:44Speaker 1: is but one power we shall not struggle, we shall know,
- 34:47Speaker 1: and in calmness we shall see only what we know
- 34:49Speaker 1: must be.the truth. This means a persistent, firm determination to
- 34:54Speaker 1: think what we want to think, regardless of all outer
- 34:57Speaker 1: evidence to the contrary. We look not to the seen
- 35:01Speaker 1: but to the unseen. The king of Israel understood this when,
- 35:05Speaker 1: looking upon the advancing host of the enemy, he said,
- 35:08Speaker 1: We have no might against this great company, but our
- 35:11Speaker 1: eyes are upon the, upon the one power. How to
- 35:14Speaker 1: attract friends. The man who has learned to love all people,
- 35:19Speaker 1: no matter who they may be, will find plenty of
- 35:21Speaker 1: people who will return that love to him. This is
- 35:24Speaker 1: not mere sentiment, and it is more than a religious
- 35:27Speaker 1: attitude of mind, it is a deep scientific fact, and
- 35:30Speaker 1: one to which we should pay attention. The reason is this,
- 35:34Speaker 1: as all is mind, and as we attract to us
- 35:37Speaker 1: what we first become, until we learn to love we
- 35:39Speaker 1: are not sending out love vibrations. and not until we
- 35:42Speaker 1: send out love vibrations can we receive love in return.
- 35:47Speaker 1: One of the first things to do is to learn
- 35:48Speaker 1: to love everybody. If you have not done this, begin
- 35:52Speaker 1: to do so at once. There is always more good
- 35:55Speaker 1: than bad in people, and seeing the good tends to
- 35:58Speaker 1: bring it forth. Love is the greatest healing and drawing
- 36:02Speaker 1: power on earth. It is the very reason for our being,
- 36:06Speaker 1: and that explains why it is that people should have
- 36:08Speaker 1: something or somebody to love. The life that has not
- 36:11Speaker 1: loved has not lived, it is still dead. Love is
- 36:15Speaker 1: the sole impulse for creation. And the man who does
- 36:19Speaker 1: not have it as the greatest incentive in his life
- 36:21Speaker 1: has never developed the real creative instinct. No one can
- 36:25Speaker 1: swing out into the universal without love, for the whole
- 36:28Speaker 1: universe is based upon it. When we find that we
- 36:32Speaker 1: are without friends, the thing to do is at once
- 36:34Speaker 1: to send our thought out to the whole world, send
- 36:37Speaker 1: it full of love and affection. Know that this thought
- 36:40Speaker 1: will meet the desires of some other person who is
- 36:43Speaker 1: wanting the same thing, and in some way the two
- 36:45Speaker 1: will be drawn together. Get over thinking that people are odd.
- 36:50Speaker 1: That kind of thought will only produce misunderstanding and cause
- 36:53Speaker 1: us to lose the friends that we now have. Think
- 36:56Speaker 1: of the whole world as your friend, but you must
- 36:58Speaker 1: also be the friend of the whole world. In this
- 37:02Speaker 1: way and with this simple practice you will draw to
- 37:04Speaker 1: you so many friends that the time will be too
- 37:06Speaker 1: short to enjoy them all. Refuse to see the negative
- 37:10Speaker 1: side of anyone. Refuse to let yourself misunderstand or be misunderstood.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Do not be morbid. Know that everyone wants you to
- 37:19Speaker 1: have the best, affirm this wherever you go and then
- 37:22Speaker 1: you will find things just as you wish them to be.
- 37:25Speaker 1: The atmosphere created by a real lover of the race
- 37:28Speaker 1: is so powerful that although his other shortcomings may be many,
- 37:31Speaker 1: still the world will love him in return. To him
- 37:35Speaker 1: who loveth much, much will be forgiven. People are dying
- 37:39Speaker 1: for real human interest, for someone to tell them that
- 37:41Speaker 1: they are all right. Which person do we like the better,
- 37:45Speaker 1: the one who is always full of trouble and fault-finding,
- 37:48Speaker 1: or the one who looks at the world as his
- 37:49Speaker 1: friend and loves it? The question does not need to
- 37:53Speaker 1: be asked. We know that we want the company of
- 37:56Speaker 1: the person who loves and loving, forgets all else. The
- 38:00Speaker 1: only reason we think other people are odd is because
- 38:03Speaker 1: they do not happen to think as we do. We
- 38:06Speaker 1: must get over this little, petty attitude and see things
- 38:09Speaker 1: in the large. The person who sees what he wants
- 38:12Speaker 1: to see, regardless of what appears, will someday experience in
- 38:16Speaker 1: the outer what he has so faithfully seen within. From
- 38:20Speaker 1: selfish motives alone, if from no loftier reason, we cannot
- 38:23Speaker 1: afford to find fault or to hate or even to
- 38:26Speaker 1: hold in mind anything against any living soul. The God
- 38:30Speaker 1: who is love cannot hear the prayer of the man
- 38:32Speaker 1: who is not love. Love and cooperation will yet be
- 38:35Speaker 1: found to be the greatest business principle on earth. God
- 38:39Speaker 1: is love. We will make our unity with all people,
- 38:43Speaker 1: with all life. We will affirm that God in us
- 38:46Speaker 1: is unified with God in all. This one is now
- 38:50Speaker 1: drawing into our life all love and fellowship. I am
- 38:53Speaker 1: one with all people, with all things, with all life.
- 38:57Speaker 1: As I listen in the silence the voice of all
- 38:59Speaker 1: humanity speaks to me and answers the love that I
- 39:02Speaker 1: hold out to it. This great love that I now
- 39:05Speaker 1: feel for the world is the love of God, and
- 39:07Speaker 1: it is felt by all and returned from all. Nothing
- 39:11Speaker 1: comes in between because there is nothing but love to
- 39:13Speaker 1: come in between. I understand all people and that understanding
- 39:18Speaker 1: is reflected back to me from all people. I help,
- 39:22Speaker 1: therefore I am helped. I uplift, therefore I am uplifted.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Nothing can mar this perfect picture of myself and my
- 39:30Speaker 1: relations with the world, it is the truth, the whole truth,
- 39:33Speaker 1: and nothing but the truth. I am now surrounded by
- 39:37Speaker 1: all love, all friendship, all companionship, all health, all happiness,
- 39:42Speaker 1: all success. I am one with life. I wait in
- 39:47Speaker 1: the silence while the Great Spirit bears this message to
- 39:49Speaker 1: the whole world. The control of thought. The man who
- 39:54Speaker 1: can control his thought can have and do what he
- 39:56Speaker 1: wishes to have and to do, everything is his for
- 39:58Speaker 1: the asking. He must remember that whatever he gets is
- 40:02Speaker 1: his to use but not his to hold. Creation is
- 40:05Speaker 1: always flowing by and we have as much of it
- 40:08Speaker 1: as we can take and use, more would cause stagnation.
- 40:11Speaker 1: We are relieved of all thought of clinging to anybody
- 40:14Speaker 1: or anything. Cannot the great principle of life create for
- 40:18Speaker 1: us faster than we can spend or use? The universe
- 40:21Speaker 1: is inexhaustible, it is limitless, it knows no bounds and
- 40:25Speaker 1: has no confines. We are not depending on a reed
- 40:29Speaker 1: shaken by the wind, but on the principle of life itself,
- 40:32Speaker 1: for all that we want, have or ever shall have.
- 40:36Speaker 1: It is not some power, or a great power, we
- 40:39Speaker 1: affirm again, it is all power. All that we have
- 40:42Speaker 1: to do is to believe this and act as though
- 40:44Speaker 1: it were so, never wavering, not even once, no matter
- 40:48Speaker 1: what happens. As we do this we shall find that
- 40:51Speaker 1: things are steadily coming our way, and that they are
- 40:54Speaker 1: coming without that awful effort that destroys the peace of
- 40:57Speaker 1: the majority of the race. We know that there can
- 41:00Speaker 1: be no failure in the divine mind, and this mind
- 41:02Speaker 1: is the power on which we are depending. Now just
- 41:06Speaker 1: because we are depending upon divine mind we must not
- 41:08Speaker 1: think that we do not have to do our share.
- 41:11Speaker 1: God will work through us if we will let him,
- 41:14Speaker 1: but we must act in the outer as though we
- 41:15Speaker 1: were sure of ourselves. Our part is to believe, and
- 41:19Speaker 1: then to act in faith. Jesus went to the tomb
- 41:22Speaker 1: of Lazarus believing and knowing that God was working through him.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Often we may have to go somewhere or do something
- 41:29Speaker 1: and we must know with deep conviction that there will
- 41:31Speaker 1: be a power going with us that none can gainsay.
- 41:34Speaker 1: When we feel this secure place in our thought, all
- 41:37Speaker 1: that we will have to do is to act. There
- 41:40Speaker 1: is no doubt but that the creative power of the
- 41:42Speaker 1: universe will answer, it always does. And so we need
- 41:46Speaker 1: not take the worry upon ourselves, but rather we will,
- 41:49Speaker 1: make known our requests with thanksgiving. When Jesus said, All
- 41:54Speaker 1: things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye
- 41:57Speaker 1: receive them and ye shall have them, He was uttering
- 41:59Speaker 1: one of those many deep truths that were so clear
- 42:01Speaker 1: to Him and that we are just beginning to see.
- 42:05Speaker 1: He knew that everything is made out of mind and
- 42:07Speaker 1: that without that positive acceptance on the part of the
- 42:09Speaker 1: individual there is no mold into which mind can pour
- 42:12Speaker 1: itself forth into form. In the mind of God there
- 42:15Speaker 1: is the correct mold, the true knowing, but in the
- 42:18Speaker 1: mind of man there is not always this true knowing.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Since God can do for us only by doing through us,
- 42:25Speaker 1: nothing can be done for us unless we are positively receptive,
- 42:28Speaker 1: but when we realize the law and how it works,
- 42:30Speaker 1: then we will provide that complete inner acceptance. By so
- 42:34Speaker 1: doing we permit the Spirit to do the work, to
- 42:37Speaker 1: make the gift. The reason we can make our requests
- 42:40Speaker 1: known with thanksgiving is because we know from the beginning
- 42:43Speaker 1: that we are to receive and therefore we cannot help
- 42:45Speaker 1: being thankful. This grateful attitude to the Spirit puts us
- 42:49Speaker 1: in very close touch with power and adds much to
- 42:52Speaker 1: the reality of the thing that we are dealing with.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Without it we can do but little. So let us
- 42:58Speaker 1: cultivate all the gratitude that we can. In gratitude we
- 43:02Speaker 1: will send our thoughts out into the world, and as
- 43:04Speaker 1: it comes back it will come laden with the fruits
- 43:06Speaker 1: of the Spirit. Creating Atmosphere To the student who has
- 43:11Speaker 1: realized that all is mind and that everything is governed
- 43:14Speaker 1: by law, there comes another thought. It is that he
- 43:17Speaker 1: can create, or have created for him, from his own thinking.
- 43:22Speaker 1: He can create such a strong mental atmosphere of success
- 43:25Speaker 1: that its power of attraction will be irresistible. He can
- 43:28Speaker 1: send his thought throughout the world and have it bring
- 43:31Speaker 1: back to him whatever he wants. He can so fill
- 43:34Speaker 1: his place of business with the power of success that
- 43:36Speaker 1: it will draw from far and near. Thought will always
- 43:40Speaker 1: bring back to us what we send out. First we
- 43:43Speaker 1: must clear our thought of all unbelief. This book is
- 43:47Speaker 1: written for those who believe, and to those who do
- 43:49Speaker 1: believe it will come true in their lives. Without mental
- 43:53Speaker 1: clearness on the part of the thinker there can be
- 43:55Speaker 1: no real creative work done. As water will reach only
- 43:59Speaker 1: its own level, so mind will return to us only
- 44:01Speaker 1: what we first believe. We are always getting what we
- 44:05Speaker 1: believe but not always what we want. Our thought has
- 44:08Speaker 1: the power to reach, in the outer form of conditions,
- 44:11Speaker 1: an exact correspondence to our inner convictions. By thinking, you
- 44:16Speaker 1: set in motion a power that creates. It will be
- 44:20Speaker 1: exactly as you think. You throw out into mind an idea,
- 44:24Speaker 1: and mind creates it for you and sets it on
- 44:26Speaker 1: the path of your life. Think of it, then, as
- 44:30Speaker 1: your greatest friend. It is always with you wherever you
- 44:33Speaker 1: may be. It never deserts you. You are never alone.
- 44:39Speaker 1: There is no doubt, no fear, no wondering, you know.
- 44:43Speaker 1: You are going to use the only power that there
- 44:45Speaker 1: is in the universe. You are going to use it
- 44:48Speaker 1: for a definite purpose. You have already fixed this purpose
- 44:52Speaker 1: in your thought, now you are going to speak it forth.
- 44:56Speaker 1: You are speaking it for your own good. You desire
- 45:00Speaker 1: only the good and you know that only the good
- 45:02Speaker 1: can come to you. You have made your unity with life,
- 45:05Speaker 1: and now life is going to help you in your affairs.
- 45:08Speaker 1: You are going to establish in your room such an
- 45:11Speaker 1: atmosphere of success that it will become an irresistible power.
- 45:15Speaker 1: It will sweep everything before it as it realizes the
- 45:18Speaker 1: greatness and the almightiness of the One. You are so
- 45:21Speaker 1: sure that you will not even look to see if
- 45:24Speaker 1: it is going to happen, you know. And now your word,
- 45:27Speaker 1: which is one with the infinite life, is to be
- 45:30Speaker 1: spoken in calm, perfect trust. It is to be taken up,
- 45:34Speaker 1: and at once it is to be operated on. Perfect
- 45:37Speaker 1: is the pattern and perfect will be the result. You
- 45:40Speaker 1: see yourself surrounded by the thing that you desire. More
- 45:45Speaker 1: than this, you are the thing that you desire. Your
- 45:48Speaker 1: word is now establishing it forever, see this, feel it,
- 45:52Speaker 1: know it. You are now encompassed by perfect life, by
- 45:56Speaker 1: infinite activity, by all power, by all guidance. The power
- 46:01Speaker 1: of the Spirit is drawing to you all people, it
- 46:03Speaker 1: is supplying you with all good, it is filling you
- 46:06Speaker 1: with all life, truth and love. Wait in perfect silence
- 46:10Speaker 1: while that inner power takes it up. And then you
- 46:13Speaker 1: know that it is done unto you. There goes forth
- 46:17Speaker 1: from this word the power of the infinite. The words
- 46:20Speaker 1: which I speak, they are spirit and they are life.
- 46:24Speaker 1: The power of words. Man's word, spoken forth into creative mind,
- 46:29Speaker 1: is endowed with power of expression. By our words we
- 46:33Speaker 1: are justified and by our words we are condemned. Our
- 46:37Speaker 1: word has the exact amount of power that we put
- 46:39Speaker 1: into it. This does not mean power through effort or
- 46:42Speaker 1: strain but power through absolute conviction or faith. It is
- 46:47Speaker 1: like a little messenger who knows what he is doing
- 46:50Speaker 1: and knows just how to do it. We speak into
- 46:53Speaker 1: our words the intelligence which we are. and backed by
- 46:55Speaker 1: that greater intelligence of the universal mind our word becomes
- 46:59Speaker 1: a law unto the thing for which it is spoken.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Jesus understood this far better than we do. Indeed, he
- 47:06Speaker 1: absolutely believed it, for he said, Heaven and earth shall
- 47:09Speaker 1: pass away but my words shall not pass away till
- 47:12Speaker 1: all be fulfilled. This makes our word inseparable from absolute
- 47:17Speaker 1: intelligence and power. Now if any word has power it
- 47:21Speaker 1: must follow that all words have power. Some words may
- 47:24Speaker 1: have a greater power than others, according to our conviction,
- 47:27Speaker 1: but all words have some power. How careful, then, we
- 47:32Speaker 1: should be what kind of words we are speaking. All
- 47:35Speaker 1: this goes to prove that we really are one with
- 47:37Speaker 1: the infinite mind, and that our words have the power
- 47:39Speaker 1: of life within them, that the word is always with
- 47:42Speaker 1: us and never far off. The word is within our
- 47:46Speaker 1: own mouth. Every time we speak we are using power.
- 47:51Speaker 1: We are one in mind with the whole universe. we
- 47:53Speaker 1: are all eternally united in this mind with real power.
- 47:57Speaker 1: It is our own fault if we do not use
- 47:59Speaker 1: this truth after we see it. We should feel ourselves
- 48:02Speaker 1: surrounded by this mind, this great pulsating life, this all-seeing
- 48:06Speaker 1: and all-knowing reality. When we do feel this near presence,
- 48:11Speaker 1: this great power and life, then all we have to
- 48:14Speaker 1: do is to speak forth into it. Speak with all
- 48:16Speaker 1: the positive conviction of the soul that has found its source,
- 48:19Speaker 1: and above all else never fear but that it will
- 48:21Speaker 1: be done unto us even as we have believed. What
- 48:25Speaker 1: wonderful power, what a newness of life and of power
- 48:28Speaker 1: of expression, is waiting for those who really believe! What
- 48:32Speaker 1: may the race not attain to when men wake up
- 48:34Speaker 1: to the real facts of being? As yet the race
- 48:37Speaker 1: has not begun to live, but the time is drawing near.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Already thousands are using this great power, and thousands are
- 48:45Speaker 1: eagerly watching and waiting for the new day. Why belief
- 48:48Speaker 1: is necessary? Always when we pray we must believe. Our
- 48:53Speaker 1: idea of prayer is not so much asking God for
- 48:56Speaker 1: things as it is believing that we already have the
- 48:58Speaker 1: things that we need. As we have said before, this
- 49:02Speaker 1: already believing is necessary because all is mind. and until
- 49:06Speaker 1: we have provided that full acceptance we have not made
- 49:08Speaker 1: a mold into which mind could pour itself and through
- 49:10Speaker 1: which it could manifest. This positive belief is absolutely essential
- 49:15Speaker 1: to real creative work, and if we do not at
- 49:17Speaker 1: present have it, then we must develop it. All is law,
- 49:21Speaker 1: and cause, and effect obtained through all life. Mind is cause,
- 49:26Speaker 1: and what we term matter, or the visible, is effect.
- 49:31Speaker 1: As water will freeze into the form that it is poured,
- 49:33Speaker 1: so mind will solidify only into the forms that our
- 49:36Speaker 1: thought takes. Thought is formed. The individual provides the form,
- 49:41Speaker 1: he never creates or even manifests that is, of himself,
- 49:45Speaker 1: there is something that does all this for him. His
- 49:48Speaker 1: sole activity is the use of this power. This power
- 49:52Speaker 1: is always at hand ready to be spoken into and
- 49:55Speaker 1: at once ready to form the words into visible expression.
- 49:59Speaker 1: But the mold that most of us provide is a
- 50:01Speaker 1: very poor one, and we change it so quickly that
- 50:03Speaker 1: it is more like a motion picture than anything else.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Already we have the power, it is the gift of
- 50:09Speaker 1: the Most High in its finite expression. But our ignorance
- 50:13Speaker 1: of its use has caused us to create the wrong form,
- 50:16Speaker 1: which in its turn has caused mind to produce the
- 50:18Speaker 1: form which we have thought into it. From this law
- 50:21Speaker 1: of cause and effect we may never hope to escape.
- 50:25Speaker 1: And while we may think of it as a hard thing,
- 50:27Speaker 1: at first, yet, when we understand, we shall see it
- 50:31Speaker 1: as absolute justice without which there could be no real self-acting,
- 50:34Speaker 1: individual life at all. Because of our divine individuality, even
- 50:39Speaker 1: God may have to wait our recognition of Him and
- 50:41Speaker 1: His laws. People in business will do well to remember
- 50:45Speaker 1: this and so to form their thought that they will
- 50:47Speaker 1: be willing to receive what they send out. No thought
- 50:51Speaker 1: of discouragement or disorder should ever be created, but only
- 50:54Speaker 1: positive assurance, strong thoughts of success, of divine activity, the
- 50:58Speaker 1: feeling that with God all things are possible, the belief
- 51:01Speaker 1: that we are one with that great mind. These are
- 51:04Speaker 1: the thoughts that make for success. The realization that we
- 51:08Speaker 1: are dealing with one and not with two powers enables
- 51:11Speaker 1: us to think with clearness. We are not troubled about
- 51:14Speaker 1: competition or opposition or failure because there is nothing but life,
- 51:18Speaker 1: and this life is continually giving to us all that
- 51:21Speaker 1: we could ask for, wish, or think into it. We
- 51:24Speaker 1: can now see how essential it is that thought should
- 51:26Speaker 1: be held one-pointed, that we should think always and only
- 51:29Speaker 1: upon what we want, never letting our mind dwell on
- 51:32Speaker 1: anything else. In this way the spirit works through us.
- 51:37Speaker 1: where so many fail. The ordinary individual, sitting down to
- 51:42Speaker 1: give a treatment to his business, unconsciously does just the
- 51:45Speaker 1: thing that he should have avoided, and then he wonders
- 51:47Speaker 1: why he did not get the desired results. Most people
- 51:51Speaker 1: simply sit and wish for, or long for, something. They
- 51:55Speaker 1: may even have a great desire or hope. They may
- 51:59Speaker 1: even go so far as to believe that their desire
- 52:01Speaker 1: is going to happen. All this is good as far
- 52:04Speaker 1: as it goes, but it does not go far enough.
- 52:08Speaker 1: what we must do is to provide that already having
- 52:10Speaker 1: received attitude. This may seem hard at first but we
- 52:14Speaker 1: can easily see that it is necessary, and as it
- 52:17Speaker 1: is the only way that mind works, this is what
- 52:19Speaker 1: we must do. Power is, and mind is, and life is,
- 52:24Speaker 1: but they have to flow through us in order to
- 52:26Speaker 1: express in our lives. We are dealing with law, and
- 52:30Speaker 1: nature must be obeyed before it will work for us.
- 52:34Speaker 1: Just realize that this law is as natural a law
- 52:36Speaker 1: as any other of God's laws, and use it with
- 52:39Speaker 1: the same intelligence that you would use the law of electricity,
- 52:42Speaker 1: then you will get the desired results. We provide the
- 52:45Speaker 1: thought form around which the divine energies play and to
- 52:48Speaker 1: which they attract the conditions necessary for the fulfillment of
- 52:51Speaker 1: the thought. When we give a treatment this is all
- 52:54Speaker 1: that we have to do, but before we can do
- 52:57Speaker 1: even this we have to clear our minds of all fear,
- 52:59Speaker 1: of every sense of separation from the divine mind. Law is,
- 53:04Speaker 1: but we must enforce it, or use it, in our
- 53:06Speaker 1: own lives. Nothing can happen to us that is not
- 53:10Speaker 1: first an accepted belief in our own consciousness. We may
- 53:14Speaker 1: not always be aware of what is going on within,
- 53:17Speaker 1: but practice will enable us to control our thought more
- 53:19Speaker 1: and more so that we shall be able to think
- 53:21Speaker 1: what we want to think, regardless of what may seem
- 53:23Speaker 1: to be the case. Each person has within himself the
- 53:27Speaker 1: capacity of knowing and making use of the law but
- 53:29Speaker 1: it must be consciously developed. This is done by practice,
- 53:34Speaker 1: and by willingness to learn and to utilize whatever we
- 53:36Speaker 1: know so far as we have gone. The individual who
- 53:40Speaker 1: has the most power is the one who has the
- 53:42Speaker 1: greatest realization of the divine presence, and to whom this
- 53:45Speaker 1: means the most as an active principle of his life.
- 53:49Speaker 1: We all need more backbone and less wishbone. There is
- 53:52Speaker 1: something which waits only our recognition to spring into being,
- 53:56Speaker 1: bringing with it all the power in the universe. Using
- 53:59Speaker 1: the Imagination Just imagine yourself surrounded by mind, so plastic,
- 54:05Speaker 1: so receptive, that it receives the slightest impression of your thought.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Whatever you think it takes up and executes for you.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Every thought is received and acted upon. Not some but
- 54:17Speaker 1: all thoughts. Whatever the pattern we provide, that will be
- 54:21Speaker 1: our demonstration. If we cannot get over thinking that we
- 54:24Speaker 1: are poor then we will still remain poor. As soon
- 54:28Speaker 1: as we become rich in our thought then we will
- 54:30Speaker 1: be rich in our expression. These are not mere words,
- 54:34Speaker 1: but the deepest truth that has ever come to the
- 54:36Speaker 1: human race. Hundreds of thousands of the most intelligent thinkers
- 54:41Speaker 1: and the most spiritual people of our day are proving
- 54:43Speaker 1: this truth. We are not dealing with illusions but with realities,
- 54:48Speaker 1: pay no more attention to the one who ridicules these
- 54:50Speaker 1: ideas than you would to the blowing of the wind.
- 54:53Speaker 1: In the center of your own soul choose what you
- 54:55Speaker 1: want to become, to accomplish, keep it to yourself. Every
- 55:00Speaker 1: clay in the silence of absolute conviction know that it
- 55:02Speaker 1: is now done. It is just as much done, as
- 55:06Speaker 1: far as you are concerned. as it will be when
- 55:08Speaker 1: you experience it in the outer. Imagine yourself to be
- 55:12Speaker 1: what you want to be. See only that which you desire,
- 55:16Speaker 1: refuse even to think of the other. Stick to it,
- 55:19Speaker 1: never doubt. Say many times a day, I am that thing,
- 55:24Speaker 1: realize what this means. It means that the great universal
- 55:28Speaker 1: power of mind is that, and it cannot fail. Man's
- 55:31Speaker 1: right of choice. Man is created an individual and as
- 55:35Speaker 1: such he has the power of choice. Many people seem
- 55:39Speaker 1: to think that man should not choose, that since he
- 55:42Speaker 1: has asked the Spirit to lead him, he need no
- 55:44Speaker 1: longer act or choose. This is taught by many teachers
- 55:48Speaker 1: but is not consistent with our individuality. Unless we had
- 55:52Speaker 1: this privilege, this power of choice, we would not be individuals.
- 55:57Speaker 1: What we do need to learn is that the Spirit
- 55:59Speaker 1: can choose through us. But when this happens it is
- 56:02Speaker 1: an act on our part. Even though we say, I
- 56:06Speaker 1: will not choose, we are still choosing. Because we are
- 56:10Speaker 1: choosing not to choose. We cannot escape the fact that
- 56:14Speaker 1: we are made in such a way that at every
- 56:15Speaker 1: step life is a constant choice. What we do need
- 56:19Speaker 1: to do is to select what we feel to be
- 56:21Speaker 1: right and know that the universe will never deny us anything.
- 56:25Speaker 1: We choose and mind creates. We should endeavor to choose
- 56:29Speaker 1: that which will express always a greater life and we
- 56:31Speaker 1: must remember that the spirit is always seeking to express
- 56:34Speaker 1: love and beauty through us. If we are attuned to these,
- 56:38Speaker 1: and are working in harmony with the great creative power,
- 56:41Speaker 1: we need have no doubt about its willingness to work
- 56:43Speaker 1: for us. We must know exactly what it is that
- 56:47Speaker 1: we wish and get the perfect mental picture of it.
- 56:50Speaker 1: We must believe absolutely that we now have it and
- 56:52Speaker 1: never do or say anything that denies it. Old Age
- 56:56Speaker 1: and Opportunity One of the besetting errors of people is
- 57:00Speaker 1: a belief that they are too old to do things.
- 57:03Speaker 1: This comes from a lack of understanding what life really is.
- 57:07Speaker 1: Life is consciousness and not years. The man or woman
- 57:11Speaker 1: who is 70 years old should be better able to
- 57:13Speaker 1: demonstrate than the man who is only 20. He should
- 57:17Speaker 1: have evolved a higher thought, and it is thought and
- 57:19Speaker 1: not conditions that we are dealing with. Amelia Barr was
- 57:23Speaker 1: 53 before she wrote a book. After that she wrote
- 57:27Speaker 1: over 80, all of which had a large circulation. Mary
- 57:31Speaker 1: Baker Eddy was 60 before she began her work. and
- 57:34Speaker 1: she attended to all of her great activities until she
- 57:37Speaker 1: passed from this plane to a higher one. The author
- 57:40Speaker 1: of this book once took a man who was over 60,
- 57:43Speaker 1: one who thought his chance for success had gone, and
- 57:45Speaker 1: through teaching him these principles in a year's time made
- 57:48Speaker 1: him a prosperous businessman. He is now doing well and
- 57:51Speaker 1: was never before in his life so happy. The last
- 57:55Speaker 1: time he was interviewed he said that business was increasing
- 57:58Speaker 1: every day and that he had not begun yet. Every
- 58:01Speaker 1: day he stands in his store and claims more activity.
- 58:05Speaker 1: He speaks the word and realizes increase all the time.
- 58:09Speaker 1: If this were not true then life would not be
- 58:11Speaker 1: worth the living. What is a few years in eternity?
- 58:16Speaker 1: We must get over these false notions about age and competition.
- 58:20Speaker 1: In the truth the word competition is never mentioned. The
- 58:24Speaker 1: people who think about it have never known the truth.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Life is what we make it from within and never
- 58:29Speaker 1: from without. We are just as old as we think
- 58:32Speaker 1: we are, no matter what the number of years may
- 58:35Speaker 1: have been that we have lived on this planet. Demonstrating
- 58:38Speaker 1: Success in Business All demonstrations take place within ourselves. Creation
- 58:45Speaker 1: is eternally flowing through all things. The law is always
- 58:49Speaker 1: working from that inner pattern. We do not struggle with conditions,
- 58:53Speaker 1: we use principles which create conditions. What we can mentally
- 58:57Speaker 1: encompass we can accomplish, no matter how hard it may
- 59:00Speaker 1: seem from the outside. All external things are but the
- 59:04Speaker 1: outer rim of inner thought activity. You can easily prove
- 59:07Speaker 1: this for yourself. If you are in business, say, running
- 59:12Speaker 1: an ice cream stand or counter, and are not doing
- 59:15Speaker 1: good business, look carefully into your own thought and see
- 59:17Speaker 1: what you will find. You will find that it is
- 59:20Speaker 1: an established belief there that business is not good. You
- 59:24Speaker 1: are not feeling a sense of activity. You will not
- 59:27Speaker 1: find within your thought any feeling of success. You are
- 59:31Speaker 1: not expecting many customers. Now suppose someone comes along and
- 59:35Speaker 1: says to you, what is the matter? Why are you
- 59:39Speaker 1: not doing more business? This is about what the answer
- 59:43Speaker 1: would be, people don't seem to want what I have
- 59:45Speaker 1: to sell. Or perhaps something like this, I am too
- 59:49Speaker 1: old to compete with modern methods. Or even, well, times
- 59:53Speaker 1: are hard. All this is negative thought. Now this man
- 59:58Speaker 1: to whom you are talking does not believe a word
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: you have said. He knows that causation is in mind
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: and not in matter, and he says, the whole thing
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: is in your own mind, the trouble with you is
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: that you don't feel that you are a success. Perhaps
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: you have heard something of this before, if so you
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: will ask him what he means, or perhaps you think
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: he is talking about something peculiar, but we are taking
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: it for granted that you are so anxious to do
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: something to make your business a success that you will
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: be willing to try anything, so you ask him to explain.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: He begins by telling you all is mind, nothing moves
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: but mind moves it and that you are a center
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: in this mind. You do not understand how this relates
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: in any way to your business, but he goes on
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: to say that your thought decides whether your business shall
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: be a success or a failure. Here you become indignant
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: and ask if he means to tell you that you
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: want to fail. Of course he knows you do not
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: and he explains that while you wish success, you are
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: thinking failure, fearing it, and that there is a law
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: that makes your thought, never asking questions but at once
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: sets about its fulfillment. You become interested and ask how
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: this can be, in return you are asked this question,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: how did anything come into being? This sets you to
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: thinking and of course you realize that there was a
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: time when nothing existed but life, so whatever has come
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: into being must have come from that life, for what
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: we see must come from that which we do not see.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: You have to admit that. Then what you do not
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: see must be the cause of everything, and you must
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: also admit that. and that cause works by law. This
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: you are compelled to admit. Then this law, being everywhere,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: must be in you, this is harder for you to see,
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: but after much thought you begin to realize that it
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: is so. Then you, without knowing where your thought processes
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: were leading you, have conceded that you, yourself, are the
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: reason for what happens in your life, be it success
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: or failure. God couldn't make you any other way and
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: at the same time make you a self-choosing individual. This
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: is plain. Now what are you going to do about it?
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: This is what you must do. For every time that
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: you have thought failure you are going to replace it
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: with strong radiant thoughts of success. You are going to
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: speak activity into your business. You are going daily to
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: see nothing but activity and to know that it is
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: law that you are using, universal law, and as such
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: your thought is as sure as the thought of God.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Daily you are going to give to the great creative
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: mind exactly what you want to happen. You will see
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: only what you desire and in the silence of your
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: soul you will speak and it will be done unto you.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: You will come to believe that a great divine love
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: flows through you and your affairs. You will be grateful
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: for this love. It fills your life. It satisfies your soul.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: You are a different man. You are so filled with
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: activity and courage that when you meet people they will
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: wonder at your energy. They will begin to wish simply
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: to come in contact with you. They will feel uplifted.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: In the course of a few months you will be
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: a success. People will come to you and say, how
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: do you do it? The answer will be the same
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: that was given to you a few months ago. Let
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: the man who is speaking to the public do the
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: same thing. Let him daily see throngs of people coming
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: to hear him. Let him see nothing else. He will
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: experience what he feels and sees. Always remember this. Life
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: is from within outward, and never from without inward. You
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: are the center of power in your own life. Be
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: sure and not take on false suggestion. The world is
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: full of calamity howlers, turn from them, every one, no
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: matter how great you think they may be, you haven't
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: the time to waste over anything that is negative. You
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: are a success, and you are giving to the law,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: every day, just what you want done. And the law
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: is always working for you, All fear has gone and
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: you know that there is but one power in all
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: the universe. Happy is the man who knows this, the
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: greatest of all truths. The whole thing resolves itself into
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: our mental ability to control our thought. The man who
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: can do this, can have what he wants, can do
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: what he wishes, and becomes what he wills. Life, God,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: the universe, is his. Money a spiritual idea. Many people
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: seem to think that money must be evil, but actually
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: it is only an inordinate love of money that is
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: characterized as the root of all evil. If all is
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: an expression of life, then money is an expression of life,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: and as such, must be good. Without a certain amount
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: of it in this life, we would have a hard time.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: But how to get it, that is the race problem.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: How shall we acquire wealth? Money didn't make itself and
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: not being self-creative it must be in effect. Behind it
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: must be the cause that projects it. That cause is
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: never seen, no cause is ever seen. Consciousness is cause
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: and people who have a money consciousness have the outward
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: expression of it. People who have it as a sure
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: reality in their mind, have it as an expression in
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: their pocket. People who don't have this mental likeness don't
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: have money in their pockets. What we need to do
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: is to acquire a money consciousness. This may seem very material,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: but the true idea of money is not material, it
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: is spiritual. We need to make our unity with it.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: We can never do this while we hold it away
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: from us by thinking that we have in it. Let
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: us change the method and begin to make our unity
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: with supply by daily declaring that all the power in
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: the universe is daily bringing to us all that we
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: can use. Feel the presence of supply. Know that it
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: is yours now. Make yourself feel that you now have,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: and to you shall be given. Work with yourself until
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: there is nothing in you that doubts. Money cannot be
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: kept away from the man who understands that all is mine,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: and that divine law governs his life. Daily give thanks
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: for perfect supply. Feel it to be yours, that you
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: have entered into the full possession of it now. Refuse
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: to talk poverty or limitation. Stick to it that you
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: are rich. Get the million-dollar consciousness. There is no other way,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: and this will react into everything that you do. See
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: money coming to you from every source and from every direction.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Know that everything is working for your good. Realize in
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: your life the presence of an omnipotent power. Speak forth
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: into it, and feel that it responds to your approach.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Whenever you see anything or anybody whom you think has
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: more than you, at once affirm that you have the
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: same thing. This doesn't mean that you have what is his,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: but that you have as much. It means that all
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: you need is yours. Whenever you think about anything big,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: at once say, that means me. In this way you
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: learn to unify yourself, in the law, with large concepts,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: and according to the way that law works, it will
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: tend to produce that thing for you. Never let yourself
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: doubt for even a minute. Always be positive about yourself.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Keep watch over the inner workings of your thought, and
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: the law will do the rest. Action. The universe is
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: teeming with activity. There is motion everywhere. Nothing ever stands still.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: All activity comes from mind. If we want to be
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: in line with things we must move. This doesn't mean
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: that we must strain or struggle, but we must be
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: willing to do our part by letting the law work
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: through us. God can do for us only as we
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: will allow him to do through us. Intelligence gives us
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: ideas and in our turn we work on them. But
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: our work is no longer done in any sense of
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: doubt or fear, for we know that we are dealing
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: with something that never makes a mistake. We proceed with
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: a calm confidence born of the inner trust in a
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: power that is infinite. Behind all of our movements, then,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: is a great purpose, to let the law work through us.
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: We must comply with the law of activity. We must
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: be willing to take the way of outer activity. Jesus
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: went to the tomb of Lazarus. We may have to
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: go but there will accompany us something that never fails.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: This law of activity we must use in our business.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: So many business places that we go in to have
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: such an atmosphere of inactivity, produce such a drowsy feeling,
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: that we at once lose all interest in what is
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: going on. We don't feel like buying. We leave that
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: place without any apparent reason and go into another. Here
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: we feel that all is life, all is motion, all
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: is activity. We feel confident that this is the place
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: we are looking for. We will buy here, we find
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: just what we want, we are satisfied with our purchase
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: and go away cheerful. Now to create this activity something
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: more than thought is essential. Not that it does not
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: come first, but the one who has this thought of
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: activity will naturally manifest it in vigorous, energetic movement which
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: helps to produce a spirit of activity in his business
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: and in everything he undertakes. Wherever you see a man
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: who does not move, then you will find one whose
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: thought is inactive, the two always go together. A man
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: in a store or place of business should always be
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: moving his goods. He should always be doing something. People
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: will see this and getting the thought of activity behind
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: it will want to trade there. We are not attracted
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: to a store that always has the same things on
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: the same shelf. The world likes action, change. Action is life.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Let a clerk in a store think activity and begin
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: to manifest it, even though he may not be waiting
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: on customers and in a short time he will be
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: waiting on them. Alertness is the word. Always be alert.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: There must be mental alertness before there can be physical activity.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Act as though things were happening even though they may
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: not appear to be. Keep things moving and soon you
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: will have to avoid the rush. Activity is genius. Half
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: the stores that you go in to make you sleepy
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: before you get out, and you feel as though you
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: can't get out fast enough. The other half are alive
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: and those are the ones who are doing the business
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: of the world. The man who is active in his
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: thought doesn't have to sit by himself to think, he
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: works while he thinks and so complies with the law
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: which has to work through him. The thought of activity
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: makes him move, and the thought of confidence makes his
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: movements sure, and the thought of supreme guidance makes his
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: work intelligent. We must be careful and not get into ruts,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: always be doing something new and different, and you will
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: find life becomes a great game in which you are
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: taking the leading part. Life will never become tiresome to
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: the active mind and body. It is so interesting that
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: we wonder if we will ever get enough of it.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Some people get into such lazy mental habits that a
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: new idea cannot find entrance. Great things are done by
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: people who think great thoughts and then go out into
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: the world to make their dreams come true. If you
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: can't find anything new to do, go home and change
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: the bed around, or the piano, put the cook stove
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: in the parlor and eat on the back step for
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: a time. It will start something moving and changing in
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: you that will never stop. The wide awake person can
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: find so many things to do that he hasn't time
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: even to begin in this life and he knows that
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: eternity is necessary to carry out the ideals that he
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: already has evolved. Everything comes from mind, but mind acts
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: on itself and we must act on ourselves and on conditions.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: not as a slave but as a master. Be interested
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: in life, if you want life to be interested in you.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Act in life and life will act through you. So
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: will you also become one of the great people on earth.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: Ideas of the Infinite Suppose that we wish to draw
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: from the universal mind some definite idea, some guidance, some information,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: some leading. How are we going to do this? First
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: we must become convinced that we can do it. Where
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: do all the inventions come from? Where does Edison get
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: his information about electricity? Where, if not direct from the
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: mind of the universe? Everything that has ever come into
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: the race comes direct from mind. It could come from
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: nothing else. Every invention is but a discovery of something
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: that already is, although we may not have seen it.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Where does the harmony of music come from? Where could
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: it originate except in mind? Does not a great musician
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: listen and hear something that we do not hear? His
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: ear is attuned to harmony and he catches it straight
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: from life itself and interprets it to the world. We
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: are surrounded by the music of the spheres but few
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: of us ever catch the sound. We are so filled
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: with trouble that the divine melody is never heard. If
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: we could see, if we could hear, if we could understand,
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: if we only realized the presence of the all, what
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: could we not do? When a great thought springs up
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: in the mind of an individual, when a great poem
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: is written, when a great work of art is wrought
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: by some receptive artist, it is simply a sign that
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: the veil is thin between, he has caught a glimpse
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: of reality. But for most of us inspiration is not
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: to be depended on, and we must take the slower
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: but nonetheless sure method of receiving straight from the infinite.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: The method is a simple one and very effective. When
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: you want to know a certain thing, or how to
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: begin a certain line of action, First, you must be
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: quiet within yourself. You must not be confused by any
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: outward appearance. Never become disturbed by effects. They didn't make
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: themselves and have no intelligence to contradict you. Be quiet
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: until you realize the presence of absolute intelligence all around you,
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: of the mind that knows. Now get a perfect picture
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: of just what you desire. You cannot get a picture
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: unless you know what it is you want. Put your
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: mind in touch with universal mind, saying just what you
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: are waiting for. Ask for it, believe that you are
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: receiving it, and wait. After a few minutes declare that
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: you now know, even though you may not seem to know,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: yet in the depths of consciousness you have received the impression.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: Give thanks that you now receive. Do this every day
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: until you get some direction. It is sometimes a good
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: thing to do this just before going to sleep. Never,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: after you have done this, deny the knowledge that has
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: been given you. The time will come when some idea
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: will begin to take form. Wait for it and, when
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: it does appear, act upon it with all the conviction
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: of one who is perfectly sure of himself. You have
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: gotten understanding straight from the source of all understanding, knowledge
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: from the source of knowledge. All can do this if
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: they will be persistent. It is a sure direction and
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: guidance and will never fail us. But we must be
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: sure that we are not denying in other moments what
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: we affirm in the moments of faith. In this way
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: we will make fewer mistakes and in time our lives
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: will be controlled by supreme wisdom and understanding. Don't be
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: a leaner. Never lean on other people. You have strength
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: of your own that is great enough to do all
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: that is necessary. The Almighty has implanted genius within the
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: soul of everyone and what we need to do is
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: to unearth that inner genius and cause it to shine forth.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: We will never do this while we look to others
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: for guidance. To thine own self-repair, wait thou within the
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: silence dim, and thou shalt find him there. All the
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: power and intelligence of the universe is already within, waiting
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: to be utilized. The divine spark must be fanned into
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: a blaze of the living fire of your own divinity.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Self-reliance is the word to dwell on. Listen to your
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: own voice, it will speak in terms that are unmistakable.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Trust in your own self more than in all else.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: All great men have learned to do this. Every person,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: within his own soul, is in direct communication with the
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: infinite understanding. When we depend on other people we are
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: simply taking their light and trying to light our path
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: with it. When we depend on ourselves we are depending
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: on that inner voice that is God, speaking in and
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: through man. Man is the inlet and the outlet to
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: all there is in God. God has made us and
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: brought us up to where we recognize our own individuality,
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: from now on we will have to let him express
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: through us. If it were different we should not be individuals.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: Behold I stand at the door and wait. This is
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: a statement of the near presence of power, but we,
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: the individual, must open the door. This door is our
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: thought and we are the guardian of it, and when
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: we do open the door we will find that the
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: divine presence is right at hand, waiting, ready and willing
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: to do for us all that we can believe. We
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: are strong with the strength of the infinite. We are
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: not weak. We are great and not mean. We are
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: one with the infinite mind. When you have a real
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: thing to do, keep it to yourself. Don't talk about it.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Just know in your own mind what it is that
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: you want and keep still about it. Often when we
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: think that we will do some big thing we begin
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: to talk about it and the first thing we know
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: all the power seems to be gone. This is what happens.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: We are all sending out into mind a constant stream
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: of thought, the clearer it is, the better will it manifest.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: If it becomes doubtful it will not have so clear
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: a manifestation. If it is confused it will manifest only confusion.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: All this is according to the law of cause and effect,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: and we cannot change that law. Too often when we
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: tell our friends what we are going to do they
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: confuse our thought by laughing about it or by doubting
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: our capacity to do so large a thing. Of course
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: this would not happen if we were always positive but
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: when we become the least bit negative it will react
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: and we will lose that power of clearness which is
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: absolutely necessary to good creative work. When you want to
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: do a big thing get the mental pattern make it
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: perfect know just what it means enlarge your thought keep
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: it to yourself pass it over to the creative power
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: behind all things, wait and listen, and when the impression comes,
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: follow it with assurance. Don't talk to anyone about it.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: Never listen to negative talk or pay any attention to
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: it and you will succeed where all others fail. Causes
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: and Conditions When we realize that life is not fundamentally physical,
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: but mental and spiritual, it will not be hard for
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: us to see that by a certain mental and spiritual
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: process we can demonstrate what we want. We are not
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: dealing with conditions but with causes. Causes originate only from
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: the unseen side of life. This is not strange as
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: the same might be said of electricity, or even of
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: life itself. We do not see life, we only see
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: what it does. This we call a condition. Of itself
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: it is simply an effect. We are living in the
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: outer world of effects and in the inner world of causes.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: These causes we set in motion by our thought, and,
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: through the power inherent within the cause, expresses the thought
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: as a condition. It follows that the cause must be
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: equal to the effect and that the effect always evaluates
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: with the cause held in mind. Everything comes from one substance.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: and our thought qualifies that substance and determines what is
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: to take place in our life. The whole teaching of
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: the Bhagavad Gita is that there is but one and
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: that it becomes to us just what we first believe
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: into it. In other words we manifest the unmanifested. This
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: in no way takes away from the omnipotence of God,
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: but adds to it, for He has created something that
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: is able to do this. God still rules in the universe,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: but we are given the power to rule in our lives.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: We must realize, then, absolutely that we are dealing with
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: a substance that we have a right to deal with,
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: and by learning its laws we will be able to
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: subject them to our use, just as Edison does with electricity.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: Law is but we must use it. The substance that
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: we deal with, in itself, is never limited, but we
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: often are, because we draw only what we believe. Because
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: we are limited is no reason why the universe should
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: have limitation. Our limitation is only our unbelief. life can
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: give us a big thing or a little thing. When
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: it gives us a little thing, it is not limited,
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: any more than life is limited when it makes a
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: grain of sand, because it could just as well have
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: made a planet. But in the great scheme of things
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: all kinds of forms, small and large, are necessary, which, combined,
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: make a complete whole. The power and substance behind everything
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: remain infinite. Now this life can become to us only
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: through us, and that becoming is the passing of spirit
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: into expression in our lives through the form of the
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: thought that we give to it. In itself life is
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: never limited, an ant has just as much life as
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: an elephant though smaller in size. The question is not
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: one of size but one of consciousness. We are not
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: limited by actual boundaries, but by false ideas about life
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: and by a failure to recognize that we are dealing
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: with the infinite. Limitation is an experience of the race,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: but it is not the fault of God, it is
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: the fault of man's perception. And to prove that this
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: is so, let any man break the bonds of this
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: false sense of life and he at once begins to
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: express less and less limitation. It is a matter of
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: the growth of the inner idea. People often say when
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: they are told this, do you think that I decided
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: to be poor and miserable, do you take me for
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: a fool? No, you are not a fool, but it
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: is quite possible that you have been fooled, and most
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: of us have been. I know of no one who
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: has escaped being fooled about life, you may not have
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: had thoughts of poverty but at the same time you
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: may have had thoughts that have produced it. Just watch
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: the process of your thinking and see how many times
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: a day you think something that you would not want
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: to happen. This will satisfy you that you need to
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: be watchful, that your thought needs to be controlled. What
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: we need to do is to reverse the process of
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: our thinking and see to it that we think only positive,
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: constructive thoughts. A calm determination to think just what we
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: want to think regardless of conditions will do much to
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: put us on the highway to a greater realization of life.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Of course we will fall, of course the road is
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: not easy, but we will be growing. Daily we will
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: be giving to the creative mind a newer and a
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: greater concept to be worked out into the life around us.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: Daily we will be overcoming some negative tendency. We must
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: stick to it until we gain the mastery of all
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: our thought and in that day we will rise never
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: to fall again. We must be good-natured with ourselves, never
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: becoming discouraged or giving up until we overcome. Feel that
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: you are always backed by an omnipotent power and a
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: kind father of love and the way will become easier.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: Mental Equivalence One of the most necessary things to remember
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: is that we cannot demonstrate life beyond our mental ability
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: to embody. We give birth to an idea only from
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: within ourselves. What we are, we put into our thinking.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: What we are not, we cannot put into it. If
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: we are to draw from life what we want, we
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: must first think it forth into life. It always produces
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: what we think. In order to have success, we must
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: first conceive it in our own thought. This is not
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: because we are creators, but because the flow of life
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: into manifestation, through us, must take the form we give
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: to it, and if we want a thing we must
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: have within ourselves the mental equivalent before we get it.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: This is what Jesus meant when he said that we
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: must believe when we pray. This belief is providing within
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: us that something which knows before it sees what it
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: asks for. For instance, suppose a man is praying for activity,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: our idea of prayer is the accepting of a thing
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: before we get it. in his affairs. First, before this
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: activity can come, he must have it within himself, he
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: must come to see activity in everything, there must be
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: something that corresponds to the thing that he wants, he
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: must have a mental equivalent. We find that we attract
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: to ourselves as much of anything as we embody within.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: As water will reach only its own level, so our
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: outward conditions will reproduce only our inner realizations. A man
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: will always draw to him just what he is. but
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: we can learn to provide within the image of what
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: we desire and so in a definite way use the
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: law to get just what we need. If at first
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: we do not have a great realization of activity we
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: will have to work on what we do have, and
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: as our outer conditions come up to meet the inner cause,
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: we will find that it will be much easier to
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: enlarge the inner receptivity for something greater and more worthwhile.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: Of one thing we may be assured, we must all
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: start somewhere, and that somewhere is within ourselves. In this
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: within we must make the affirmation, and there, too, we
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: must do the real work of realization. At the first
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: the way may seem hard, for we are constantly confronted
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: with that which seems to be, and we are not
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: always sure of ourselves nor strong enough to overcome, but
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: we may rest content in the assurance that we are growing.
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: Every day we will be providing a bigger concept of life,
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: and with the inner growth we will have an enlarged
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: power to speak forth into the creative mind, with the
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: result that we shall get a fresh impulse and be
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: doing a bigger thing for ourselves. Growth and realization are
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: always from within and never from without. The old race
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: suggestion of fear and poverty and limitation must be done
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: away with and daily we must clear our thought from
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: all that limits the one from showing forth in our life.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: Remember that you are dealing with one power and not
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: with two. This will make it easier, for you do
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: not have to overcome any condition. because conditions flow from
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: within out, and not from without in. A man going
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: to a new town will at once begin to attract
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: to him just what he brings in his thought. He
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: should be very careful what he thinks. He should know
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: just what he wants and daily give it over to
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: the supreme mind, knowing that it will work for him.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: Old thoughts must be destroyed, and new must take their places.
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: Every time the old thought comes look it squarely in
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: the face and declare that it has no part in
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: your mind. It has no power over you. You state
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: the law and rely on it to the exclusion of
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: all else. Daily try to see more and to understand more,
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: feel every day that you are being especially looked after.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: There is no special creation for any individual, but we
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: all specialize the law every time we think into it.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: For all our thought is taken up and something is
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: always done with it. A good practice is to sit
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: and realize that you are a center of divine attraction,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: that all things are coming to you, that the power
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: within is going out and drawing back all that you
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: will ever need. Don't argue about it, just do it,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: and when you have finished leave it all to the law,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: knowing that it will be done. Declare that all life,
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: all love and power are now in your life. Declare
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: that you are now in the midst of plenty. Stick
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: to it even though you may not as yet see
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: the result. It will work and those who believe the
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: most always get the most. Think of the law as
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: your friend, always looking out for your interest. Trust completely
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: in it and it will bring your good to you.
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: One law and many manifestations. People often ask if the
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: law will not bring harm as well as good. This
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: question would never be asked if people understood what universal
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: law really means. Of course it will bring us what
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: we think. All law will do the same thing. The
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: law of electricity will either light our house or burn
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: it down. We decide what we are to do with
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: the law. Law is always impersonal. There is no likelihood
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: of using the law for harmful purposes if we always
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: use it for the more complete expression of life. We
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: must not use it for any purpose that we would
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: not like to experience ourselves. This should answer all questions
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: of that nature. Do I really want the thing I
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: ask for? Am I willing to take for myself what
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: I ask for other people? How can we use the
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: law for evil if we desire only the good? We
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: cannot and we should not bother about it. We want
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: only the good for ourselves and for the whole world,
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: when we have started causation, at once the law will
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: set to work carrying out our plans. Never distrust the
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: law and become afraid lest you misuse it. That is
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: a great mistake, all law is impersonal and cares not
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: who uses it. It will bring to all just what
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: is already in their thought. No person can long use
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: it in a destructive way, for it will destroy himself
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: if he persists in doing wrong. We have no responsibility
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: for anyone except ourselves. Get over all idea that you
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: must save the world, we have all tried and have
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: all failed. We may, by demonstrating in our own lives,
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: prove that the law really exists as the great power
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: behind all things. This is all that we can do.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: Everyone must do the same thing for himself. Let the
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: dead bury their dead, and see that you live. In
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: this you are not selfish but are simply proving that
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: law governs your life. All can do the same when
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: they come to believe, and none until they believe. Transcending
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: Previous Conditions What if at times we attract something that
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: we do not want? What about all the things that
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: we have already attracted into our lives? Must we still
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: suffer until the last farthing be paid? Are we bound
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: by karma? Yes, in a certain degree we are bound
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: by what we have done, it is impossible to set
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: law in motion and not have it produce. What we
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: sow we must also reap, of that there is no doubt.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: But here is something to think about, the Bible also
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: says that if a man repents his, sins are blotted out,
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: and remembered no more forever. Here we have two statements
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: which at first seem not to agree. The first says
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: that we must suffer from what we have done, and
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: the second that under certain conditions we will not have
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: to suffer. What are those conditions? A changed attitude toward
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: the law. It means that we must stop thinking and
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: acting in the wrong way. When we do this we
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: are taken out of the old order and established in
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: the new. Someone will say, if that is true what
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: about the law of cause and effect? Is that broken? No,
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: it is this way. The law is not broken, it
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: would still work out if we continued to use it
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: in the wrong way, but when we reverse the cause,
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: that is, think and act in a different way, then
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: we have changed the flow of the law. It is
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: still the same law but we have changed its flow,
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: so that, instead of limiting us and punishing us, it
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: frees and blesses. It is still the law but we
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: have changed our attitude toward it. We might throw a
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: ball at the window, and if nothing stopped it, it
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: would break the glass. Here is law in motion. But
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: if someone catches the ball before it reaches the window,
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: the glass will not be broken. Neither the glass nor
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: the law will be broken. The flow of law will
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: be changed, that is all. So can we, no matter
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: what has happened in the past, so transcend the old experience,
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: that it will no longer have any effect upon us.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: So if we have attracted something that is not best
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: to keep, we will remember that we do not have
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: to keep it. It was the best that we knew
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: at the time, and so was good as far as
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: it went, but now we know more and can do better.
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: As law works without variation, so does the law of
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: attraction work the same way. All that we have to
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: do is to drop the undesired thing from our thought,
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: forgive ourselves and start anew. We must never even think
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: of it again. Let go of it once and for all.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: Our various experiences will teach us more and more to
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: try to mold all of our thoughts and desires, so
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: that they will be in line with the fundamental purpose
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: of the great mind, the expression of that which is perfect.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: To fear to make conscious use of the law would
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: be to paralyze all efforts of progress. More and more
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: will we come to see that a great cosmic plan
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: is being worked out, and that all we have to
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: do is to lend ourselves to it, in order that
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: we may attain unto a real degree of life. As
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: we do subject our thought to the greater purposes we
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: are correspondingly blessed, because we are working more in line
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: with the Father, who from the beginning knew the end.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: We should never lose sight of the fact that we
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: are each given the individual right to use the law,
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: and that we cannot escape from using it. Let us, then,
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: go forward with the belief that a greater power is
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: working through us, that all law is a law of good,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: that we have planted our seed of thought in the
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: mind of the Absolute, and that we can go our
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: way rejoicing in the divine privilege of working with the infinite.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: Understanding and Misunderstanding There are many persons who are constantly
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: unhappy because they seem always to be misunderstood. They find
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: it hard to use the law of attraction in an
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: affirmative way, and they keep on drawing to themselves experiences
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: which they would rather have avoided. The trouble with them
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: is that there is always an undercurrent of thought which
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: either neutralizes or destroys whatever helpful thoughts they have set
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: in motion in their moments of greater strength. Such persons
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: are usually very sensitive, and while this is a quality
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: which is most creative when under control, it is most
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: destructive when uncontrolled, because it is most chaotic. They should
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: first come to know the law and see how it works,
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: and then treat themselves to overcome all sensitiveness. They should
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: realize that everyone in the world is a friend, and
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: prove this by never saying anything unkind to anyone or
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: about anyone. They must within themselves see all people as
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: perfect beings made in the divine image, and, seeing nothing else,
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: they will in time be able to say that this
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: is also the way that all people see them. Holding
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: this as the law of their lives they will destroy
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: all negative thought. And then, with that power which is
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: always in a sensitive person, but which is now under control,
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: they will find that life is theirs to do with
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: as they please, the only requirement being that as they
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: sow so must they also reap. We all know that
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: anything that is unlike good is of short duration, but
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: anything that embodies the good is like God, ever present
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: and eternal. We free ourselves through the same law under
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: which we first bound ourselves. The ordinary individual unknowingly does
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: something that destroys any possibility of getting good results in
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: the demonstration of prosperity. He affirms his good and makes
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: his unity with it, and this is right, but he
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: does not stop looking at it in others, which is
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: wrong and is the cause of confusion. We cannot affirm
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: a principle and deny it in the same breath. We
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: must become what we want and we will never be
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: able to do that while we still persist in seeing
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: what we do not want, no matter where we see it.
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: We cannot believe that something is possible for us without
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: also believing the same for every individual. One of the
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: ways of attainment is, of a necessity, the way of
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: universal love, coming to see all as the true sons
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: of God, one with the infinite mind. This is no
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: mere sentiment but the clear statement of a fundamental law
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: and that man who does not obey it, is opposing
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: the very thing that brought him into expression. It is
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: true that through mental means alone he may bring to
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: himself things and he may hold them as long as
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: the will lasts. This is the ordinary way, but we
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: want more than compelling things to appear. What we want
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: is that things should gravitate to us because we are
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: employing the same law that God uses. When we so
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: attain this attitude of mind, then that which is brought
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: into manifestation will never be lost, for it will be
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: as eternal as the law of God and cannot be
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: destroyed forever. It is a comfort to know that we
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: do not have to make things happen, but that the
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: law of divine love is all that we will ever need,
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: it will relieve the overworked brain and the faggied muscle
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: just to be still and know that we are one
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: with the all in all. How can we enter in,
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: if at one and the same time we are believing
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: for ourselves and beholding the beam in our brother's eye?
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: Does that not obstruct the view and pervert our own natures?
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: We must see only the good and let nothing else
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: enter into our minds. Universal love to all people and
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: to all things is but returning love to the source
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: of all love, to Him who creates all in love
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: and holds all in divine care. The sun shines on
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: all alike. Shall we separate and divide where God has
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: so carefully united? We are dividing our own things when
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: we do this, and sooner or later the law of
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: absolute justice that weighs out to each one his just
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: measure will balance the account, and then we shall be
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: obliged to suffer for the mistakes we have made. God
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: does not bring this agony on us but we have
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: imposed it on ourselves. If from selfish motives alone, we
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: must love all things and look upon all things as good,
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: made from the substance of the Father. We can only
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: hope to bring to ourselves that which we draw through
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: the avenue of love. We must watch our thinking and
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: if we have ought against any soul, get rid of
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: it as soon as possible. This is the only safe
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: and sure way. Did not Jesus at the supreme moment
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: of sacrifice ask that the Father forgive all the wrong
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: that was being cloned to Him? Shall we suppose that
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: we can do it in a better way? If we
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: do not at the present time love all people, then
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: we must learn how to do it. and the way
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: will become easier, when all condemnation is gone forever and
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: we behold only good. God is good and God is love,
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: more than this we cannot ask nor conceive. Another thing
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: that we must eliminate is talking about limitation. We must
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: not even think of it or read about it, or
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: have any connection with it in any of our thinking,
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: for we get only that which we think, no more
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: and no less. This will be a hard thing to do.
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: But if we remember that we are working out the
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: science of being, though it may seem long and hard
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: at times we sooner or later do it, and once
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: done it is done forever. Every step in advance is
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: an eternal step and will never have to be taken again.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: We are not building for a day or a year,
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: but we are building for all time and for eternity.
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: So we will build the more stately mansion under the
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: supreme wisdom and the unfailing guidance of the Spirit, and
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: we will do unto all, even as we would have
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: them do unto us, there is no other way. The
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: wise will listen, look and learn, then follow what they
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: know to be the only way that is in line
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: with the divine will and purposes. So shall all see
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: that God is good and in Him is no evil.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: No Unusual Experience In demonstrating the truth of supply we
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: do not have to experience any peculiar emotion or psychic experience.
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: We do not have to feel any thrills or anything
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: of that sort. While it is true that some of
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: these things may come, yet we should remember that what
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: we are doing is dealing with law, and that is
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: law it will obey us, when we comply with its
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: nature and contact it in the right way. What we
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: are doing, is stating something into mind, and if the
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: impression is clear in our own minds that it is
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: and that it is done we have put all the
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: activity we can put into it, until such a time
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: as something happens in the external for us to work upon.
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: So many people say, I do wish that I could
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: feel something, when I give a treatment. All this is
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: a mistake and is an attempt to give a physical
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: reason for life. What we do need to feel is that,
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: since God is all and is good, He wants us
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: to have only the good, and feeling this we should
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: take what is already made for us. Our attitude toward
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: such a good father should constantly be one of thanksgiving.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: When we begin to prove the power of the truth
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: we will always maintain this attitude. Know that you are
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: dealing with a sure thing and that all you have
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: to do is to know positively into it and wait
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: for the results to come in the outer. Then do
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: what your own good sense tells you to do, for
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: this is the thought of God through you. More and
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: more you will find that you are being led out
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: of difficulty into that freedom which is the divine birthright
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: of every living soul. Go ahead, then, looking only at
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: the things desired and never at the things not wanted.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: Victory will always be on the side that the majority
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: of your thoughts rest on in absolute acceptance. Visualizing Some
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: people visualize everything that they think of and many think
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: that it is impossible to make a demonstration unless they
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: possess the power to visualize. This is not the case.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: While a certain amount of vision is necessary, on the
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: other hand it must be remembered that we are dealing
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: with a power that is like the soil of the ground,
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: which will produce the plant when we plant seed. It
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: does not matter if we have never before seen a
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: plant like the one that is to be made for us.
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: Our thought is the seed and mind is the soil.
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: We are always planting and harvesting. All that we need
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: to do is to plant only that which we want
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: to harvest. This is not difficult to understand. We cannot
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: think poverty and at the same time demonstrate plenty. If
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: a person wants to visualize let him do so, and
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: if he sees himself in full possession of his desire
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: and knows that he is receiving, he will make his demonstration. If,
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: on the other hand, he does not visualize, then let
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: him simply state what he wants and absolutely believe that
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: he has it and the result will always be the same.
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: Remember that you are always dealing with law and that
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: this is the only way that anything could come into existence.
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: Don't argue over it. That means that you have not
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: as yet become convinced of the truth or you would
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: not argue. Be convinced and rest in peace. Where demonstration
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: takes place. Does demonstration take place in the patient, the practitioner,
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: or in the mind of God? Let us see, we
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: are in the mind of God and so it must
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: take place there. But the patient is also in the
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: mind of God or there would be two minds, and
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: so it must take place in the mind of the patient, also.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: But that is the mind of God, so what does
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: it matter where it takes place? We do not have
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: to project our thought, because mind is right at hand
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: and never leaves us at any time. All that we
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: have to do is to know within ourselves, and, when
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: we are absolutely convinced, we will have made the demonstration.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: As far as the practitioner is concerned, all that he
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: has to do is to convince himself. Here his work
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: begins and ends. There is a power that will look
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: after the rest. Is this not the supreme attitude of
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: faith in higher power? Of course it is, and the
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: more of that faith that we have, the easier it
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: will be for us and the quicker we will receive
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: an answer to our prayer. If you have a simple,
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: childlike faith it will produce, but it should give us
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: a greater faith when we know something of the way
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: that the law operates. It follows, then, that we should,
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: by understanding, have so great a faith that we shall
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: never fail to get the affirmative answer to all of
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: our thoughts. Each victory will strengthen us until the time
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: will come when we will no longer have to say
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: I hope or believe, but I know. Part 2. Treatments.
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: The way to give a treatment is first of all
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: to absolutely believe that you can, believe that your word
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: goes forth into a real creative power, which at once
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: takes it up, and begins to operate upon it, feel
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: that to this power all things are possible. It knows
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: nothing but its own power to do that which it
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: wishes to do. It receives the impress of your thought
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: and acts upon it. It is never safe to treat
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: for anything that you do not wish to happen. This
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: means that what you would want for another, you must
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: first be willing to receive for yourself. Believe then that
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: your word is to be acted upon by an almighty power,
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: feel its great reality, in and through all things you
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: speak into it, and declare just what you wish it
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: to do for you, never doubting in your own mind
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: but that it will do just as you have directed.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: All that a practitioner has to do is to convince himself,
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: to know, to believe, and that thing will happen to
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: him which he states. One of the first things, then,
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: is to be definite, to have a mental likeness of
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: the thing that you desire, to know exactly what you want.
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: This mental likeness, this absolute acceptance of the fact that
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: it now is, must never be overlooked, without it you
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: will not accomplish your desired objective. We sit down of
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: our own souls, at peace with the world, at peace
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: with ourselves, we realize that we are dealing with something
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: that is a reality, something that cannot fail. We try
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: to get a clear concept of the thing, we rest
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: in that realization, while the universal creative power takes it
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: up and acts upon it. We have stated just what
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: we wanted done unto us, we have believed, we have
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: believed that we have received, never again will we contradict
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: the fact that we have stated. The person who can
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: do this is sure of getting results. Understanding and Guidance
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: The inner man is always in immediate connection with the
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: infinite of understanding. We are immersed in a living intelligence,
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: we are surrounded by a power that knows, for, in
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: him we live and move and have our being. If
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: our outer thought were never confused, we should at all
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: times draw from this infinite source of knowledge. we should
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: be guided by it and never make mistakes, our minds
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: would be like the smooth surface of a lake, unruffled
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: by wind and storm. But with most of us this
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: is not the case. We become confused in the outer
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: so that the surface of the mind is in turmoil,
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: no longer clear and transparent, and we cannot get the
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: clear vision, the real guidance, and we get things wrong
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: because we do not see clearly. The development of the
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: understanding is learning to draw from the infinite understanding, we
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: can never do this while we are confused in our thinking.
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: The first thing to do when we wish a greater
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: understanding is to be still and listen to the inner voice,
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: to withdraw for a few moments into the silence of
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: the soul taking here what we already know, and realizing
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: that a greater intelligence is enlarging it. Here we indefinitely
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: take the pattern of our thought, the thing that we
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: are working on, and ask for, and receive, new light,
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: we hold this up in divine light and try to
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: believe that we are being guided. We state that supreme
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: intelligence and absolute power are acting upon our thought and
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: bringing it to pass, it is now guiding us and
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: we shall make no mistake, we hold ourselves in the
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: secret place of the Most High, and abide under the
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: shadow of the Almighty. How to know just what to do?
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: Often we find ourselves confronted by the problem of how
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: to begin. We are not sure what we want to do,
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: we see no way to begin anything, see nothing to
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: begin on. When we find ourselves in this position, humanly speaking,
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: not knowing where to turn, then of all times we
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: must be quiet and listen, then of all times we
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: must trust that the same power that started all things
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: will also start us in the right road, for without
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: some superior power we shall surely fail. How often do
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: people in the business world find themselves in this position?
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: They realize that something must be done, but what? How
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: can they get the right idea? Here we must wait
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: and know that the same power that first thought a
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: universe into being can also think our world and work
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: into being. It knows all things, it knows how to
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: begin and it cannot fail, we wish in some way
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: to connect with this power that will never fail us,
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: so we may draw from it some idea with which
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: to begin. We must realize that there is something that
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: wants to respond, to make manifest and in this realization
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: wait for the idea. It may not come at first,
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: but we must be patient, never doubting, and waiting thus
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: in faith, it will come. I once knew a businessman
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: who was connected with a firm that had always been
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: very successful but at that time something had occurred that
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: was causing them to lose out this had gone on
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: for a year and things were going from bad to
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: worse failure seemed inevitable he became interested in new thought
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: he was told he could draw an idea from the
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: infinite and work it out on the plane of the
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: visible He told his partners that he wished to go
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: home for a few days and that when he came
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: back he would have worked out an idea which would
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: put the business on a successful basis. They laughed at him,
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: as people generally laugh at something they do not understand,
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: but having no other plan they gave their consent. He
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: went home and for three days sat in deep thought,
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: claiming supreme guidance and absolute leading of the spirit. During
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: this time a complete plan formulated in his mind as
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: to the exact method to pursue in the business. he
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: returned and told his plan to his partners. Again they laughed,
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: saying it could not be done in business, could not
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: be done any way, it would not work. But again
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: they consented, knowing it was this or failure. He then
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: went to work carrying out all the details of his thought,
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: following each leading that had come to him during those
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: three days, and within a year he brought the failing
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: business to a standard that transcended anything they had ever
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: before experienced, he proved the law and became such an expert,
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: that he gave up his business and devoted his entire
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: time to helping other people do the same for themselves
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: as he had done. What this man did anyone can
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: do if he will follow the same course and refuse
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: to become discouraged. There is a power that simply awaits
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: our recognition of it, to spring into our thought as
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: an unfailing leading, an unerring guidance. To those who lean
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: on the ever-outstretched arm of the infinite, life is big
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: with limitless possibilities. We must wait and listen. then go
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: about our outer business with an inner conviction that we
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: are being led into a more perfect expression of life.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: All can do this. Following up a thought. When we
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: feel that we do have the right leading, when that
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: something inside us tells us that we are led, then,
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: no matter what it appears like, we must follow it up.
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: Something beyond our intelligence is doing the thing through us
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: and we must do nothing to contradict it. Perhaps it
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: will cause us to do something that seems to go
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: contrary to the experience of the race. This makes no difference.
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: All advance in invention and all advance along any line
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: has always gone ahead of what the experience of the
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: race thinks is possible. Great men are the ones who
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: get a vision and then go to work to make
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: it come true, never looking to one side but with
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: one-pointedness and calm determination, stick to the thing until it
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: is accomplished. It may take much patience and a great
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: deal of faith, but the end is as sure as
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: is the reality of a supreme being itself. Never hesitate
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: to trust in that inner leading, never fear but it
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: will be right. We are all in the midst of
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: supreme intelligence, it presses against the doors of our thought,
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: waiting to be known. We must be open to it
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: at all times, ready to receive direction and to be
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: guided into greater truths. The single stream of thought. We
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: are all in mind and what we think into it
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: is taken up and done unto us. This means that
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: as we think it will be done. We cannot think
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: one way one day and change our thought the next
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: and hope to get the desired results. We must be
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: very clear in our thought sending out only such thoughts
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: as we wish to see manifested in our condition. Here
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: is something worth remembering. Unless we are working with people
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: who think as we do we had better be working alone.
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: One stream of thought even though it may not be
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: very powerful will do more for us than many powerful
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: streams that are at variance with each other. This means that,
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: unless we are sure that we are working with people
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: who harmonize, we would better work alone. Of course we
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: cannot retire from business simply because people do not agree
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: with us, but what we can do is to keep
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: our thoughts to ourselves. We do not have to leave
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: the world in order to control our thought, but we
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: do have to learn that we can stay right in
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: the world and still think just what we want to think,
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: regardless of what others are thinking. One single stream of thought,
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: daily sent out into creative mind, will do wonders. Within
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: a year the person who will practice this will have
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: completely changed his conditions of life. The way to practice
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: this is daily to spend some time in thinking and
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: in mentally seeing just what is wanted, see the thing
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: just as it is wished and then affirm that this
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: is now done. Try to feel that what has been
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: stated is the truth. Words and affirmation simply give shape
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: to thought, they are not creative. Feeling is creative and
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: the more feeling that is put into the word the
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: greater power it will have over conditions. In doing this
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: we think of the condition only as an effect, something
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: that follows what we think. It cannot help following our thought.
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: This is the way that all creation comes into expression.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: It is a great help to realize mentally that at
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: all times a great stream of thought and power is
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: operating through us, it is constantly going out into mind,
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: where it is taken up and acted upon. Our business
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: is to keep that stream of thought just where we
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: want it to be, to be ready at any time
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: to act when the impulse comes for action. Our action
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: must never be negative, it must always be affirmative, for
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: we are dealing with something that cannot fail. We may
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: fail to realize, but the power in itself is infinite
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: and cannot fail. We are setting in motion in the
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: absolute a stream of thought that will never cease until
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: it accomplishes its purpose. Try to feel this, be filled
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: with a great joy as you feel that it is
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: given to you to use this great and only power.
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: Keep the thought clear and never worry about the way
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: that things seem to be going. Let go of all
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: outer conditions when working in mind, for there is where
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: things are made, their creation is going on, and it
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: is now making something for us. This must be believed
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: as never believed before, it must be known as the
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: great reality, it must be felt as the only presence.
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: There is no other way to obtain. Though all the
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: infinite may want to give, yet we must take, and,
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: as far as we are concerned, that taking is mental.
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: Though people may laugh at this, even that does not matter,
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: he laughs best who laughs last. We know in what
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: we believe, and that will be sufficient. Enlarging our thought.
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: We can never stand still in our thought. Either we
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: will be growing or else we will be going back.
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: As we can attract to ourselves only what we first
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: have a mental likeness of, it follows that if we
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: wish to attract larger things we must provide larger thoughts.
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: This enlarging of consciousness is so necessary that too much
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: cannot be said about it. Most people get only a
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: short way and then stop, they cannot seem to get
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: beyond a certain point, they can do so much and
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: no more. Why is it that a person in business
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: does just about so much each year? We see people
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: in all walks of life, getting so far, never going
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: beyond a certain point. There must be a reason for everything,
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: nothing happens, if all is governed by law, and we
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: can come to no other conclusion. When we look into
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: the mental reason for things we find out why things happen.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: The man who gets so far and never seems to
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: go beyond that point is still governed by law, when
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: he allows his thoughts to take him out into larger
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: fields of action, his conditions come up to his thought.
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: When he stops enlarging his thought he stops growing. If
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: he would still keep on in thought, realizing more and
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: still more, he would find that in the outer form
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: of things he would be doing greater things. There are
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: many reasons why a man stops thinking larger things. One
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: of them is a lack of imagination. He cannot conceive
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: of anything more to follow than that which has already happened.
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: Another thought works like this, this is as far as
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: anyone can go in my business. Right here he signs
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: his own death warrant. Often a person will say, I
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: am too old to do bigger things. There he stops.
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: Someone else will say, competition is too great and here
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: is where this man stops, he can go no further
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: than his thought will carry him. All this is unnecessary
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: when we realize that life is first of all consciousness
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: and then conditions follow. We see no reason why a
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: man should not go on and on and never stop growing.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: No matter what age or what circumstance, if life is thought,
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: we can keep on thinking bigger things. There is no
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: reason why a man who is already doing well should
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: not be able mentally to conceive of a still better condition.
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: What if we are active? There is always a greater
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: activity possible. We can still see a little beyond what
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: has come before. This is just what we should do, see,
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: even though it be but a little beyond our former thought.
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: If we always practice this, we will find that every
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: year we shall be growing, every month we shall be advancing,
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: and as time goes on we shall become really great.
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: As there is no stopping in that power which is infinite,
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: as the limitless is without bounds, so should we keep
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: on trying to see more and greater possibilities in life.
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: We should definitely work every day for the expansion of thought.
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: If we have 50 customers a day we should endeavor
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: to believe that we have 60. When we have 60
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: we should mentally see 70. This should never stop, there
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: is no stopping place in mind. Let go of everything else,
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: drop everything else from your thought, and mentally see more
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: coming to you than has ever come before, believe that
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: mind is establishing this unto you, and then go about
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: your business in the regular way. Never see the limitation,
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: never dwell upon it, and above all things else never
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: talk limitation to anyone. This is the only way, and
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: there is no other way to grow a larger thought.
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: The man with the big thought is always the man
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: who does big things in life. Get hold of the
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: biggest thing that you can think of and claim it
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: for your own, mentally see it and hold it as
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: a thing already done, and you will prove to yourself
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: that life is without bounds. Always be gathering. There is
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: no reason why a person should ever stop. This does
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: not mean that we should be miserly, trying to accumulate
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: more and more to hold, but that our thought should
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: so enlarge that it cannot help gathering more and more,
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: even though, on the other hand, or with the other hand,
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: we are ever distributing that which we gather. Indeed, the
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: only reason for having is that we may give out
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: of that which we have. No matter what big thing
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: happens to us we should still be expecting more and more.
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: Even when we think that we have at last arrived.
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: Right at the moment when it seems as though life
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: had given us all that we could stand, right here
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: let it be but a beginning for still greater things.
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: No matter how large the picture that you hold in mind,
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: make it larger. The reason why so many people come
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: to the point where they stop is that they come
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: to a point where they stop growing in their own minds.
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: They come to a point where they can see no more,
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: thinking that because they have really done a big thing
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: they should stop there. We must watch our thought for
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: signs of inactivity. Nothing in the universe ever stops. Everything
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: is built on a boundless basis, drawn from a limitless source,
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: come forth from an infinite sea of unmanifest life. We
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: speak forth into this life and draw back from it
- 1:59:54Speaker 1: all that we first think into it. Life is always limitless,
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: and the only thing that limits us is our inability
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: to conceive mentally, and we should draw more and more
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: from that limitless source. Mental Likeness We can draw from
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: the infinite only as much as we first think into it.
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: It is at this point that so many fail, thinking
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: that all they need to do is to affirm what
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: they want and it will follow. While it is true
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: that affirmations have real power, it is also true that
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: they have only that which we speak into them. As
- 2:00:25Speaker 1: we cannot speak a word that we do not know,
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: so we cannot make an affirmation that we do not understand.
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: We really affirm only that which we know to be true.
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: We know that to be true which we have experienced
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: within ourselves. Although we may have heard or read that
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: this or that thing is true, it is only when
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: there is something within our own souls that corresponds or
- 2:00:47Speaker 1: recognizes its truth that it is true to us. This
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: ought never to be lost sight of, we can effectively
- 2:00:53Speaker 1: affirm only that which we know, and we know only
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: that which we are. It is herein that we see
- 2:00:59Speaker 1: the necessity of providing within a greater concept of life.
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: A bigger idea of ourselves and a more expanded concept
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: of the universe in which we live, move and have
- 2:01:09Speaker 1: our being. This is a matter of inner growth together
- 2:01:12Speaker 1: with the enlarging of all lines of thought and activity.
- 2:01:16Speaker 1: If we want to do a thing that is really
- 2:01:17Speaker 1: worth doing, we must mentally grow until we are that thing,
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: which we want to see made flesh. This may take time,
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: but we should be glad to use all the time
- 2:01:27Speaker 1: necessary to our own development. But few people in limitation
- 2:01:31Speaker 1: have a mental likeness of plenty. This likeness must be provided.
- 2:01:37Speaker 1: The thought must be large enough to cover the whole
- 2:01:39Speaker 1: of the thing desired, a small thought will produce only
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: a small thing. The very fact that all is mine
- 2:01:45Speaker 1: proves this to be true. All is mind and, because
- 2:01:49Speaker 1: it is, we can draw from that mind only that
- 2:01:52Speaker 1: which we first think into it as a reality. We
- 2:01:55Speaker 1: must become the thing we want. We must see it,
- 2:01:59Speaker 1: think it, realize it, before the creative power of mind
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: can work it out for us. This is an inner
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: process of the expansion of consciousness. It is a thought,
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: growing and realizing within. All can do this who wish
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: and who will take the time and trouble, but it
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: will mean work. The majority of people are too lazy
- 2:02:19Speaker 1: to make the effort. Daily we must train our thought
- 2:02:23Speaker 1: to see that only which we wish to experience, and
- 2:02:25Speaker 1: since we are growing into what we are mentally dwelling upon,
- 2:02:28Speaker 1: we should put all small and insignificant thoughts and ideals
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: out of our thinking and see things in a larger way.
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: We must cultivate the habit of an enlarged mental horizon,
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: daily seeing farther and farther ahead, and so experiencing larger
- 2:02:42Speaker 1: and greater things in our daily life. A good practice
- 2:02:46Speaker 1: for the enlargement of thought is daily to see ourselves
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: in a little bigger place, filled with more of activity,
- 2:02:51Speaker 1: surrounded with increased influence and power, feel more and more
- 2:02:55Speaker 1: that things are coming to us, see that much more
- 2:02:57Speaker 1: is just ahead, and so far as possible, know that
- 2:03:00Speaker 1: we now have all that we see and all that
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: we feel. Affirm that you are that larger thing, that
- 2:03:06Speaker 1: you are now entered into that larger life, feel that
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: something within is drawing more to you. Live with the
- 2:03:12Speaker 1: idea and let the concept grow. expecting only the biggest
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: and the best to happen. Never let small thoughts come
- 2:03:19Speaker 1: into your mind, and you will soon find that a
- 2:03:21Speaker 1: larger and greater experience has come into your life. Keeping
- 2:03:25Speaker 1: the thing in mind. Never let go of the mental
- 2:03:29Speaker 1: image until it becomes manifested. Daily bring up the clear
- 2:03:33Speaker 1: picture of what is wanted and impress it on the
- 2:03:35Speaker 1: mind as an accomplished fact. This impressing on our own
- 2:03:39Speaker 1: minds the thought of what we wish to realize will
- 2:03:41Speaker 1: cause our own minds to impress the same thought on
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: universal mind. In this way we shall be praying without ceasing.
- 2:03:49Speaker 1: We do not have to hold continually the thought of
- 2:03:51Speaker 1: something we want in order to get it, but the
- 2:03:53Speaker 1: thought that we may inwardly become the thing we want.
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: Fifteen minutes, twice each day, is time enough to spend
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: in order to demonstrate anything, but the rest of the
- 2:04:03Speaker 1: time ought also to be spent constructively. That is, We
- 2:04:08Speaker 1: must stop all negative thinking and give over all wrong thought,
- 2:04:11Speaker 1: holding fast to the realization that it is now done
- 2:04:14Speaker 1: unto us. We must know that we are dealing with
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: the only power there is in the universe, that there
- 2:04:19Speaker 1: is none other beside it, and that we are in
- 2:04:22Speaker 1: it partaking of its nature and its laws. Always, behind
- 2:04:26Speaker 1: the word that we send forth, must be the calm
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: confidence in our ability to speak into the power and
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: the willingness of mind to execute for us. We must
- 2:04:35Speaker 1: gradually grow in confidence and in trust in the unseen
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: world of spiritual activity. This is not hard, if we
- 2:04:42Speaker 1: but remember that the Spirit makes things out of itself
- 2:04:45Speaker 1: by simply becoming the thing that it makes, and since
- 2:04:47Speaker 1: there is no other power to oppose it, it will
- 2:04:50Speaker 1: always work. The Spirit will never fail us if we
- 2:04:53Speaker 1: never fail to believe in its goodness and its responsiveness.
- 2:04:57Speaker 1: Life will become one grand song, when we realize that
- 2:05:00Speaker 1: since God is for us, none can be against us.
- 2:05:05Speaker 1: We shall cease merely to exist, we shall live. Destroy
- 2:05:09Speaker 1: all thoughts that we do not wish to experience. We
- 2:05:13Speaker 1: must resolutely set our faces to the rising consciousness of
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: the sun of truth, seeing only the one power we
- 2:05:18Speaker 1: must destroy the adversary and leave the field to God
- 2:05:21Speaker 1: or good. All that is in any way negative must
- 2:05:25Speaker 1: be wiped off the slate and we must daily come
- 2:05:27Speaker 1: into the higher thought, to be washed clean of the
- 2:05:29Speaker 1: dust and chaos of the objective life. In the silence
- 2:05:33Speaker 1: of the soul's communion with the great cause of all being,
- 2:05:36Speaker 1: into the stillness of the absolute, into the secret place
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: of the Most High, back of the din and the
- 2:05:42Speaker 1: ceaseless roar of life, we shall find a resting place
- 2:05:45Speaker 1: and a place of real spiritual power. Speak in this
- 2:05:48Speaker 1: inner silence and say, I am one with the Almighty,
- 2:05:51Speaker 1: I am one with all life, with all power, with
- 2:05:54Speaker 1: all presence. I am, I am, I am. Listen to
- 2:05:59Speaker 1: the silence. From out of the seeming void the voice
- 2:06:03Speaker 1: of peace will answer the waiting soul, all is well.
- 2:06:07Speaker 1: Here we make known all our needs and wants, and
- 2:06:10Speaker 1: here we receive first-hand from the infinite all that we
- 2:06:12Speaker 1: shall ever need to make life healthy, happy, and harmonious.
- 2:06:16Speaker 1: Few enter here, because of the belief that conditions and
- 2:06:19Speaker 1: circumstances control. Know that there is no law but God's law,
- 2:06:24Speaker 1: that the soul sets its own law in the infinite
- 2:06:26Speaker 1: and that our slightest wish is honored of the Father Mind.
- 2:06:30Speaker 1: Daily practice the truth and daily die to all error thought.
- 2:06:35Speaker 1: Spend more time receiving and realizing the presence of the
- 2:06:38Speaker 1: Most High and less time worrying. Wonderful power will come
- 2:06:42Speaker 1: to the one who believes and trusts in that power
- 2:06:44Speaker 1: in which he has come to believe. Know that all
- 2:06:47Speaker 1: good and all God is with you, all life and
- 2:06:49Speaker 1: all power, and never again say, I fear, but always,
- 2:06:54Speaker 1: I trust, because I know in whom I have believed.
- 2:06:57Speaker 1: Direct Practice for Prosperity Suppose that you are doing a
- 2:07:02Speaker 1: mail order business and sending out cards to the whole country.
- 2:07:06Speaker 1: Take the cards into your hands, or simply think of
- 2:07:08Speaker 1: them and declare into the only mind that they will
- 2:07:10Speaker 1: accomplish that for which they are sent out, know that
- 2:07:13Speaker 1: every word written on them is truth and carries its
- 2:07:15Speaker 1: own conviction with it, see them each reaching that place
- 2:07:18Speaker 1: where it will be received with gladness and read with interest,
- 2:07:21Speaker 1: declare this to be so now, feel it to be
- 2:07:24Speaker 1: the truth. Mentally assert that each card will find its
- 2:07:28Speaker 1: way to the exact place where it will be wanted
- 2:07:30Speaker 1: and where it will benefit the receiver, feel that each
- 2:07:32Speaker 1: card is cared for by the spirit, that it is
- 2:07:34Speaker 1: a messenger of truth and power and that it will
- 2:07:37Speaker 1: carry conviction and realization with it. When the word is
- 2:07:40Speaker 1: dot spoken always feel that mind at once takes it
- 2:07:43Speaker 1: up and never fails to act upon it. Our place
- 2:07:47Speaker 1: in the creative order is to know this and to
- 2:07:49Speaker 1: be willing to do all that we can without hurry
- 2:07:51Speaker 1: or worry. and, above all else, to trust absolutely in
- 2:07:54Speaker 1: the Spirit to do the rest. He who sees most
- 2:07:58Speaker 1: clearly and believes most implicitly will make the greatest demonstration.
- 2:08:02Speaker 1: This one should be you, and will be you as
- 2:08:04Speaker 1: soon as the false thought is gone and the realization
- 2:08:07Speaker 1: that there is but the one power and the one
- 2:08:09Speaker 1: presence comes. We are wrapped in an infinite love and
- 2:08:13Speaker 1: intelligence and we should cover ourselves with it and claim
- 2:08:15Speaker 1: its protection from all evil. Declare that your word is
- 2:08:19Speaker 1: the presence and the activity of the power of all
- 2:08:21Speaker 1: that is and wait for the perfect concept to unfold.
- 2:08:25Speaker 1: Race Consciousness One of the things which greatly hinders us
- 2:08:29Speaker 1: from demonstrating a greater degree of prosperity we may call
- 2:08:32Speaker 1: race thought or race consciousness. This is the result of
- 2:08:36Speaker 1: all that the race has thought or believed. We are
- 2:08:40Speaker 1: immersed in it, and those who are receptive to it
- 2:08:42Speaker 1: are controlled by it. All thought seeks expression along the
- 2:08:46Speaker 1: lines of least resistance. When we become negative or fearful
- 2:08:50Speaker 1: we attract that kind of thought and condition. We must
- 2:08:53Speaker 1: be sure of ourselves, we must be positive, we must
- 2:08:57Speaker 1: not be aggressive, but absolutely sure and poised within. Negative
- 2:09:02Speaker 1: people are always picking up negative conditions, they get into
- 2:09:05Speaker 1: trouble easily, persons who are positive draw positive things. They
- 2:09:10Speaker 1: are always successful. Few people realize that the law of
- 2:09:14Speaker 1: thought is the great reality, that thoughts produce things. When
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: we come to understand this power of thought, we will
- 2:09:21Speaker 1: carefully watch our thinking to see that no thought enters
- 2:09:23Speaker 1: that we should not want made into a thing. We
- 2:09:26Speaker 1: can guard our minds by knowing that no negative thought
- 2:09:29Speaker 1: can enter, we can daily practice by saying that no
- 2:09:32Speaker 1: race thought of limitation can enter the mind. That spirit
- 2:09:36Speaker 1: forms itself around us and protects us from all fear
- 2:09:39Speaker 1: and from all limitation. Let us clothe ourselves in the
- 2:09:43Speaker 1: great realization that all power is ours and that nothing
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: else can enter. let us fill the atmosphere of our
- 2:09:48Speaker 1: homes and places of business with streams of positive thought.
- 2:09:53Speaker 1: Other people will feel this and will like to be
- 2:09:55Speaker 1: near us and enter into the things that we enter into.
- 2:09:58Speaker 1: In this way we shall be continually drawing only the best.
- 2:10:02Speaker 1: Developing Intuition If a person always lived near to mind
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: he would never make any great mistakes. Some seem to
- 2:10:10Speaker 1: have the faculty of always knowing just what is best
- 2:10:13Speaker 1: to do, they always succeed because they avoid making errors.
- 2:10:17Speaker 1: We can also train ourselves that we will be guided
- 2:10:20Speaker 1: by the supreme mind of the universe, but we can
- 2:10:22Speaker 1: never do this until we believe that we can receive
- 2:10:24Speaker 1: direct from the source of all knowledge. This is done
- 2:10:28Speaker 1: by sitting in the silence and knowing that the spirit
- 2:10:30Speaker 1: is inwardly directing us. We should try to feel that
- 2:10:34Speaker 1: our thought is being permeated by the thought of the spirit.
- 2:10:38Speaker 1: We should expect it to direct but should never become
- 2:10:40Speaker 1: discouraged if at once a direct impression is not received.
- 2:10:44Speaker 1: The work is going on even if it is not
- 2:10:46Speaker 1: seen or even felt. Thought is forming in our mind
- 2:10:49Speaker 1: and in time will come forth as an idea. When
- 2:10:53Speaker 1: the idea does come always trust in it even though
- 2:10:55Speaker 1: it may not seem to be quite as we had expected.
- 2:10:59Speaker 1: The first impressions are usually the most direct and the clearest,
- 2:11:02Speaker 1: they are generally direct from the mind of the universe
- 2:11:04Speaker 1: and should be carefully worked out into expression. We declare
- 2:11:08Speaker 1: as we sit in the silence that the spirit of
- 2:11:10Speaker 1: all knowledge is making known within us just what we
- 2:11:12Speaker 1: should do, that it is telling us just what to
- 2:11:15Speaker 1: say or where to go. Have absolute reliance on this
- 2:11:18Speaker 1: as it is one of the most important things to do.
- 2:11:22Speaker 1: We should always get that inner assurance before undertaking any
- 2:11:25Speaker 1: new enterprise, being sure that we have really put the
- 2:11:28Speaker 1: whole thing into the hands of life and that all
- 2:11:30Speaker 1: that we have to do is to work it out
- 2:11:31Speaker 1: in the outer. We shall learn to avoid mistakes when
- 2:11:35Speaker 1: we learn to be directed by that inner voice that
- 2:11:37Speaker 1: never makes mistakes. We should declare in the silence that
- 2:11:41Speaker 1: intelligence is guiding us and it will do so. Presence
- 2:11:44Speaker 1: of Activity Suppose that your place of business does not
- 2:11:48Speaker 1: seem to manifest any activity, that is, suppose that customers
- 2:11:52Speaker 1: do not come. To the person in the business world
- 2:11:56Speaker 1: the presence of customers generally means activity. Suppose that you
- 2:12:00Speaker 1: have come to believe that the principle will work in
- 2:12:02Speaker 1: the smallest as well as in the greatest things. What
- 2:12:05Speaker 1: you want now is a greater activity. How are you
- 2:12:09Speaker 1: going to see activity when there is none? Here is
- 2:12:12Speaker 1: a great question in truth. Must we overlook that which
- 2:12:16Speaker 1: we see, and that which we have experienced. Yes, absolutely,
- 2:12:21Speaker 1: there is no other way. If we keep on seeing
- 2:12:24Speaker 1: the thing as it appears we will never be able
- 2:12:26Speaker 1: to change its appearance. What we must do, then, in
- 2:12:30Speaker 1: spite of the seeming inactivity, is still to know and
- 2:12:33Speaker 1: mentally to see and declare that we are in the
- 2:12:35Speaker 1: midst of activity. Feel this to be true, mentally see
- 2:12:39Speaker 1: the place crowded, know that it is packed full of
- 2:12:41Speaker 1: customers all the time, declare that your word draws them in.
- 2:12:46Speaker 1: Have no sense of strain about it whatever, simply know
- 2:12:49Speaker 1: that you are dealing with the only power that there is,
- 2:12:52Speaker 1: it will work, it must work. Realize when you have
- 2:12:55Speaker 1: spoken the word that a greater power has taken it
- 2:12:58Speaker 1: up and that it is being established unto you. Have
- 2:13:01Speaker 1: no idea of limitation, speak forth into mind with perfect trust.
- 2:13:06Speaker 1: If you have the ability mentally to see the place full,
- 2:13:09Speaker 1: combine this with the word, and daily visualize it as
- 2:13:12Speaker 1: being filled. Always combine faith in the higher power with
- 2:13:16Speaker 1: all that you do, feel that you are being especially
- 2:13:18Speaker 1: looked after. This is true. When a soul turns to
- 2:13:23Speaker 1: the universe of unmanifest life, at the same time it
- 2:13:26Speaker 1: turns toward him. Jesus told this in the story of
- 2:13:29Speaker 1: the prodigal son, the father saw him afar off. Always
- 2:13:34Speaker 1: there is that inward turning to us of the parent
- 2:13:36Speaker 1: mind when we turn to it and place ourselves in
- 2:13:38Speaker 1: closer contact with life. We must keep our mind clear
- 2:13:42Speaker 1: so that when the Spirit brings the gift we will
- 2:13:44Speaker 1: be open to receive it. Even God cannot force things
- 2:13:48Speaker 1: upon us. We must receive even before we see. For
- 2:13:53Speaker 1: the feeble hands and helpless, groping blindly in the darkness.
- 2:13:57Speaker 1: Touch God's right hand in that darkness and are lifted
- 2:14:00Speaker 1: up and strengthened. Always, when we believe, we will have
- 2:14:04Speaker 1: that belief honored of the Spirit of life. Mentally seeing
- 2:14:08Speaker 1: just what we want. Still seeing even though the heavens fall,
- 2:14:13Speaker 1: we shall succeed in proving that the law of life
- 2:14:15Speaker 1: is a law of liberty. God made man to have
- 2:14:18Speaker 1: all that the universe contained and then left him alone
- 2:14:21Speaker 1: to discover his own nature. Stop all striving and all
- 2:14:25Speaker 1: struggle and within your own soul know the truth and
- 2:14:27Speaker 1: trust absolutely in it. Daily declare that you are being
- 2:14:31Speaker 1: guided and protected and that the power of the Spirit
- 2:14:34Speaker 1: is bringing all to pass, and wait in perfect peace
- 2:14:36Speaker 1: and confidence. Such an attitude of mind will overcome anything
- 2:14:41Speaker 1: and will prove that spiritual thought force is the only
- 2:14:44Speaker 1: real power in the universe. Drawing your own to you.
- 2:14:49Speaker 1: Suppose that you wish to draw friends and companions to you,
- 2:14:52Speaker 1: that you wish to enlarge your circle of friendships. This, too,
- 2:14:56Speaker 1: can all be worked out by law, for everything can
- 2:14:59Speaker 1: be worked out by the same law, the reason being
- 2:15:01Speaker 1: that all is one and that the one becomes the
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: many in expression. There are too many people in the
- 2:15:07Speaker 1: world who are lonesome because they have a sense of
- 2:15:09Speaker 1: separation from people. The thing to do is not to
- 2:15:13Speaker 1: try to unify with people, but with the principle of
- 2:15:16Speaker 1: life behind all people and things. This is working from
- 2:15:19Speaker 1: the center and not the circumference, in this one mind
- 2:15:22Speaker 1: are the minds of all people. When you unite your
- 2:15:25Speaker 1: thought with the whole you will be united with the
- 2:15:27Speaker 1: parts of the whole. The first thing to do, then,
- 2:15:32Speaker 1: is to realize that life is your friend and companion.
- 2:15:35Speaker 1: Feel the divine companionship, feel that you are one with
- 2:15:38Speaker 1: all life, declare that, as this thought awakens within your mind,
- 2:15:41Speaker 1: so does it awaken within the mind of the whole race,
- 2:15:44Speaker 1: feel that the world is being drawn to you, love
- 2:15:47Speaker 1: the world and everyone who is in it, include all,
- 2:15:50Speaker 1: if you would be included in all. The world seeks strength,
- 2:15:53Speaker 1: be strong. The world loves love, embody it, see the
- 2:15:58Speaker 1: good in all people. Let go of all else. people
- 2:16:03Speaker 1: will feel your love and will be drawn into it.
- 2:16:06Speaker 1: Love is the greatest power in the universe, it is
- 2:16:09Speaker 1: at the base of all else, it is the cause
- 2:16:11Speaker 1: of all that is. Feel your love to be like
- 2:16:14Speaker 1: a great light lighting the pathway of the whole world,
- 2:16:17Speaker 1: it will come back to you bringing so many friends
- 2:16:19Speaker 1: that there will not be time enough to enjoy them all.
- 2:16:22Speaker 1: Become a real friend and you will have many friends.
- 2:16:26Speaker 1: Be sufficient unto yourself and at the same time include
- 2:16:29Speaker 1: all else, and people will feel your strength and will
- 2:16:32Speaker 1: have a desire to come into the radiance of it.
- 2:16:35Speaker 1: Never become unhappy or morbid, always be cheerful and radiate
- 2:16:38Speaker 1: good nature and happiness, never look depressed or down in
- 2:16:41Speaker 1: the mouth, the world is attracted to the strongest center
- 2:16:44Speaker 1: of cheer and good fellowship. Never allow your feelings to
- 2:16:48Speaker 1: be hurt. No one wants to hurt you, and none could,
- 2:16:52Speaker 1: even though they did want to. You are above all that.
- 2:16:57Speaker 1: Wherever you go know that the Spirit of Truth goes
- 2:16:59Speaker 1: before and prepares the way, bringing to you every friend
- 2:17:02Speaker 1: and influence that will be necessary to your comfort and well-being.
- 2:17:06Speaker 1: This is not selfishness but good sense and will surely
- 2:17:09Speaker 1: bring to you a harvest of friends and companions. Declare
- 2:17:13Speaker 1: unto mind that you are now linked with all people
- 2:17:16Speaker 1: and that all people are linked with you, see yourself
- 2:17:18Speaker 1: surrounded with hosts of friends. Mentally feel their presence and
- 2:17:23Speaker 1: rejoice that all good is yours now. Do this no
- 2:17:26Speaker 1: matter what seems to happen, and it will not be
- 2:17:28Speaker 1: long before you will meet wonderful friends and will be
- 2:17:31Speaker 1: brought into touch with the great of the world. The
- 2:17:34Speaker 1: final word. In the last analysis, man is just what
- 2:17:38Speaker 1: he thinks himself to be, he is big in capacity
- 2:17:41Speaker 1: if he thinks big thoughts, he is small if he
- 2:17:43Speaker 1: thinks small thoughts. He will attract to himself what he
- 2:17:47Speaker 1: thinks most about. He can learn to govern his own
- 2:17:50Speaker 1: destiny when he learns to control his thoughts. In order
- 2:17:54Speaker 1: to do this he must first realize that everything in
- 2:17:57Speaker 1: the manifest universe is the result of some inner activity
- 2:17:59Speaker 1: of mind. This mind is God, producing a universe by
- 2:18:04Speaker 1: the activity of his own divine thoughts, man is in
- 2:18:06Speaker 1: this mind as a thinking center. and what he thinks
- 2:18:09Speaker 1: governs his life, even as God's thought governs the universe,
- 2:18:12Speaker 1: by setting in motion all the cosmic activities. This is
- 2:18:17Speaker 1: so easy to understand, and so plain as to use
- 2:18:20Speaker 1: that we often wonder why we have been so long
- 2:18:22Speaker 1: finding out this, the greatest of all truths of all
- 2:18:25Speaker 1: the ages. Believing, thinking what is believed to be true,
- 2:18:29Speaker 1: thinking into mind each day that which is wished to
- 2:18:32Speaker 1: be returned. eliminating negative thoughts, holding all positive thoughts, giving
- 2:18:36Speaker 1: thanks to the spirit of life that it is so
- 2:18:38Speaker 1: trusting always in the higher law, never arguing with oneself
- 2:18:42Speaker 1: or with others, using. These are the steps which, when followed,
- 2:18:47Speaker 1: will bring us to where we shall not have to
- 2:18:49Speaker 1: ask if it be true, for, having demonstrated, we shall know.
- 2:18:54Speaker 1: The seed that falls into the ground shall bear fruit
- 2:18:56Speaker 1: of its own kind, and nothing shall hinder it. He
- 2:19:00Speaker 1: that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
