- 0:00And I think because it's the property is so secretive, people aren't really allowed
- 0:06to go on there because it's private property.
- 0:08private, private.
- 0:10And because like the gate, the statues are visible.
- 0:13It's very intense.
- 0:15So unique and intense.
- 0:17And honestly, it's like stunning.
- 0:20I would love to have a gate like this.
- 0:22Hell yeah.
- 0:23It's so unfortunate that people like make up all these crazy stories about it.
- 0:27I know.
- 0:28Because it's just such an easy, it's an easy target.
- 0:31It's kind of low hanging fruit.
- 0:33Hi, Caitlyn?
- 0:39Okay, take two.
- 0:43I liked it.
- 0:45Okay.
- 0:46Hi, Cassie.
- 0:47Hi, creepy people.
- 0:48Oh, wow.
- 0:50This is PNW Haunts and Homicides where we chat about true crime, the paranormal and all things
- 0:56weird and creepy and cool in the Pacific Northwest.
- 1:02What is the Pacific Northwest, Caitlyn?
- 1:04So the PNW, if you're nasty.
- 1:07So nasty.
- 1:08And we know that you are.
- 1:11We might be getting nasty in this episode.
- 1:13Maybe a little.
- 1:15Maybe it's a little murky because spoiler alert, I might have stepped on Caitlyn's toes
- 1:21a little bit without asking.
- 1:23I forgot to ask because it's not murdery.
- 1:28Well, yeah.
- 1:30I mean, I feel like that's pretty free reign.
- 1:32Yeah.
- 1:33You've talked about cases that were murder adjacent before.
- 1:37I know you usually always ask you though.
- 1:39I'm like, hey, just by the way.
- 1:41Sometimes, yeah.
- 1:42Yeah.
- 1:43I don't know.
- 1:44But so I spoiled the topic of this.
- 1:47Yeah.
- 1:48That's true.
- 1:49For everyone.
- 1:50Yeah, for everyone.
- 1:51Which is fine.
- 1:52I just.
- 1:53And that's just fine.
- 1:55Once in a while, I give things away on accident.
- 1:57That's always on purpose.
- 2:00And so Caitlyn, I heard the topic and she looked it off apparently and was like, oh, this has
- 2:06like a true crime element to it.
- 2:08Like, would it be stepping on your toes if I like looked into this?
- 2:12And I was like, oh, shit.
- 2:13I was like, I literally wrote enough this up on it.
- 2:17I added all the crime.
- 2:18Unless you feel free to research after me in.
- 2:21Okay.
- 2:22If you dig anything out, you can do that.
- 2:27Dig anything out of its butt.
- 2:28Out of its, out of its tunnels.
- 2:31Oh, it's butt tunnels.
- 2:34Yeah.
- 2:35I'm really on butts right now.
- 2:36Are you?
- 2:37Yeah.
- 2:38Yeah.
- 2:39I've been listening to a show that talks about butts a lot.
- 2:41Not in relation to the show and its content.
- 2:44They just really like to talk about butts.
- 2:47It's totally aside from their core content.
- 2:51So funny.
- 2:52Juicy.
- 2:53Yeah.
- 2:54Big fat juicy.
- 2:55Yeah, they talk about booty clapping.
- 2:57It's great.
- 2:59I'm enjoying it.
- 3:01Well, should we get into this?
- 3:04I don't know.
- 3:05On a scale of Caitlyn scooting further into her seat, somewhere in the neighborhood of one
- 3:12to ten times, where we, how many scoots are we on this one?
- 3:17Maybe one.
- 3:18Okay.
- 3:19It might be a one scooter.
- 3:20I don't think you're going to, I think you're going to be fine.
- 3:23Okay.
- 3:24Yeah.
- 3:25Yeah.
- 3:26Yeah.
- 3:27I realized just a few minutes ago that I'm understanding the biological responses that I've
- 3:31been describing where I feel as though I'm being chased by a rabid bear.
- 3:37Yeah.
- 3:38Very specific type of anxiety response that I'm having.
- 3:42I think it may have something to do with the cortado that I consumed.
- 3:48Oh, dude.
- 3:49That's a lot for you.
- 3:50I feel like.
- 3:51And pretty quickly, I might add, because it's only eight ounces.
- 3:55So I totally looked and like thought about getting one on the way here and I was like, I
- 4:00don't want to stop.
- 4:01Like if I'm already late, so I didn't get one.
- 4:03They're fucking delicious.
- 4:05First of all, you probably should have, because I'm a little hungover.
- 4:08Oh, okay.
- 4:09Well, we can help you out with that.
- 4:11But I'm drinking wine.
- 4:12So we're okay.
- 4:13It's that hair of the dog.
- 4:15Sash.
- 4:16Shush.
- 4:17Shush.
- 4:18Shush.
- 4:19- Sasquatch wine. - The Sighting.
- 4:21- The Sighting. - Trees, very on-brand.
- 4:24So just right off the top here, we're gonna establish
- 4:28that this is a private property that we're talking about.
- 4:31- Oh, so, dick road. Don't be dick and' all that.
- 4:34- It's a private property. There's neighbors really close.
- 4:37- Okay. - I'm not telling you to go there.
- 4:40Honestly, I probably wouldn't go there. - Yeah, sounds like that's not the move.
- 4:44- Honestly, the little bit that I do know.
- 4:46It sounds like that's not a vibe. - Yeah. - You know what I mean?
- 4:49- I'm more scared of people than anything else, I think.
- 4:53And I just don't wanna break any trespassing rules
- 4:56and get in trouble with the law. - With the law.
- 4:59- Yeah, so I will be staying away, but I'm gonna tell you about it.
- 5:03'Cause it's really interesting.
- 5:04And there's a lot of weird rumors and things associated with the property.
- 5:09So I gotta talk about it, right?
- 5:12- I'm so excited.
- 5:14In Damascus, Oregon, about 16 miles southwest from Portland, Oregon.
- 5:21Obviously.
- 5:22As one does, lies a property shrouded in mystery and crime.
- 5:31- Ooh. - Ooh.
- 5:33- Known as Oculus Anubis.
- 5:38- And I really just wanna put an echo on that, really bad.
- 5:42- I mean, we have the, listen, we have the technology.
- 5:45- We do. - Oculus is Latin for eye.
- 5:48- For eyeballs.
- 5:49- I don't know if you noticed.
- 5:51I wore my eyeball shirt, which I have worn recently,
- 5:54but I obviously had to wear it today.
- 5:56'Cause eyeballs. - Of course.
- 5:57- Of course.
- 5:58- And I don't really have an eyeball shirt
- 6:02and I didn't know that I should, but I happened to wear this planet.
- 6:07- Yeah, you're meaning someone. - I'm thinking of actually circles.
- 6:09It's got other circles that look like eyes you said earlier.
- 6:12So it works.
- 6:14Houston, I am the problem.
- 6:16- I feel like we can relate anything to anything.
- 6:19We do tarot, so.
- 6:20It's very interesting, though, this name, Oculus.
- 6:24We'll get back to it.
- 6:25- Okay.
- 6:26- And Anubis is the ancient Egyptian god of the afterlife.
- 6:31He cared for, preserved, and protected the dead.
- 6:34He has the body of a man in the head of a jackal.
- 6:39Also listener of the pod.
- 6:40Anubis.
- 6:43- Yeah. - Famously.
- 6:44- Obviously.
- 6:44I had to look up what a jackal was.
- 6:47'Cause obviously I knew it was a wild dog thing,
- 6:50but I never specifically looked it up.
- 6:53They're so cute.
- 6:54They're pretty cute.
- 6:55They look like coyotes, smaller coyotes with pointier taller ears.
- 7:00And really cool fur patterns.
- 7:02- Yeah.
- 7:03Yeah.
- 7:03Interesting.
- 7:04I found a video the other day of somebody who rescued a
- 7:08tiny baby fox.
- 7:10They look like kittens.
- 7:12When they're that young,
- 7:14"Oh, Foxy."
- 7:15They don't start to look like a fox right away.
- 7:17And then all of a sudden, they were like,
- 7:19"Oh, fark, we adopted a fox."
- 7:22- Whoopsie.
- 7:23I mean, I'm not mad about it.
- 7:25- That would be amazing.
- 7:26- Right.
- 7:26A freaking fox.
- 7:27Sorry, guess you live with me now.
- 7:29- You're a cat.
- 7:31- I feel like a jackal is kind of halfway between a fox and a coyote.
- 7:34- I like that.
- 7:35- Similar.
- 7:37Okay, so I'm going to send you some pictures.
- 7:38I'm going to air drop you some photos of the property.
- 7:41And then we're going to discuss, talk about
- 7:44what it looks like and all of that.
- 7:47So as you can see,
- 7:48in this photo, it is in a neighborhood.
- 7:52- It appears to be.
- 7:53- There are houses literally right next to the property.
- 7:56So they're really close.
- 7:57It's not like super secluded.
- 7:59The property itself is private property.
- 8:02And it's all gated off of that.
- 8:03Part is secluded,
- 8:04but it's not like in a specifically secluded area.
- 8:07It's in like a neighborhood.
- 8:09- I mean a neighborhood for Damascus.
- 8:12- Yeah, exactly.
- 8:13You just have to be there.
- 8:16- Yeah, it's big properties.
- 8:18It's not really close homes or anything.
- 8:20But there's homes, there's civilization.
- 8:22So when you're pulling in,
- 8:25it's kind of like the opening to their long driveway
- 8:28is kind of like a cul-de-sac or like a turnaround.
- 8:31- Yeah.
- 8:31- It's not technically cul-de-sac because there's not like other houses on it.
- 8:34- Right.
- 8:35It's just kind of like--
- 8:36- Yeah, but I mean circular in shape.
- 8:37- Yeah.
- 8:38- It's like the opening to their driveway.
- 8:40- Yeah.
- 8:41- So on either side of this opening to the cul-de-sac
- 8:44circular turnaround, do Hickey,
- 8:47there are two pyramids.
- 8:49- Yes, I see those.
- 8:50- They look kind of like, I don't know.
- 8:54Maybe like boob height to us, maybe?
- 8:57Maybe a little shorter.
- 8:58They don't look, depends on who we're talking about.
- 9:01- Right.
- 9:02- But us.
- 9:03Like probably if I go back to back with that pyramid,
- 9:06do you think it would be like your height?
- 9:08- It's hard to say without much for scale.
- 9:13- Yeah.
- 9:14- I'm gonna guess, it might be
- 9:16add or, you know, give or take.
- 9:20- Like a dick.
- 9:21- Like a dick.
- 9:22- They're not particularly big.
- 9:25They're not huge and they're not tiny.
- 9:26They're like--
- 9:27- Listen, you can't talk like that when I just said dick.
- 9:29- I know.
- 9:30I was hearing it as it was coming out of my mouth.
- 9:33- But anyway, there's two pyramids and they have,
- 9:36they used to have fire on top.
- 9:37I don't know if you can zoom in.
- 9:38You can see like little torches on the top.
- 9:40I don't think it's running anymore.
- 9:42- Yeah, no, I think actually that's one thing
- 9:46that previously when I looked at this,
- 9:49the pyrotectnics of it all,
- 9:52that's like the one thing that I heard is like,
- 9:54oh yeah, no, they shot that down.
- 9:56- Which is, I mean, understandable.
- 9:58- It's a bummer.
- 9:59- Once we start getting into this property.
- 10:01- Yeah.
- 10:02- So as you're going into past the pyramids,
- 10:07they have kind of a wall, like a stone wall.
- 10:11It's very mossy.
- 10:12There's a lot of ferns, green foliage, it's party.
- 10:16And then there is a big archway gate entrance.
- 10:21- That, it is.
- 10:23- It's very big, it looks like.
- 10:26It's got two lion statues on either side of it.
- 10:30So basically it's like my calling card.
- 10:33- Right.
- 10:33- I know I wrote that later somewhere in here,
- 10:35not those specific words, but we'll get to it.
- 10:39- Trusting.
- 10:41- And then the archway itself, it looks like it's also made
- 10:44from stone, but it's like black.
- 10:46I'm not sure if it's painted or if just the stone itself
- 10:50is like a black stone.
- 10:51I'm not pretty sure.
- 10:53- There is sort of like a, it's almost like an ombre effect.
- 10:57When you look at, it's like darkens the further back you go.
- 11:01- That is true.
- 11:02- Yeah.
- 11:02- Yeah, 'cause the stone that makes up like the wall
- 11:06and stuff that the lion sit on,
- 11:07it looks normal like gray stone.
- 11:09- Yeah.
- 11:10- And then once you get to this big archway, it's black.
- 11:14And then on the top of the archway is that same kind of like
- 11:17black stone, it's like a circular circle.
- 11:20- Yeah, almost like a medallion.
- 11:22- Yeah, yeah.
- 11:23- It kind of looks like a medallion on top.
- 11:26And then on this circle, that's on top of the archway.
- 11:30- Medallion, madame.
- 11:32- Circle, medallion, whatever.
- 11:34It kind of looks like a family crest almost.
- 11:40It's got like another lion up on its branches,
- 11:45on its own, you call it, like roaring up.
- 11:47- He's like standard up, he's on two legs.
- 11:49- Yeah.
- 11:50- And then on the other side, there is a dragon figure
- 11:53doing the same thing.
- 11:54And in the middle, it literally looks like another lion.
- 11:57- A lion.
- 11:58- Like a kind of like a sun.
- 11:59It's another circle medallion shape.
- 12:01- I mean, also I'm like, oh, I'm going crazy.
- 12:03- Yeah.
- 12:04And I'm like, maybe there's just so much a Leo's living here.
- 12:07There's so many lions.
- 12:08- Giving like very intense Leo energy like.
- 12:13- So these, the lion, this dragon figure,
- 12:17it has like wings and a tail and.
- 12:20- Also, I'm here with the dragon.
- 12:22- Oh, this is all about Caitlyn.
- 12:24- You guys.
- 12:25- No, so these things are, they're like copper
- 12:29and golden color.
- 12:30And then on top of it, it's hard to see,
- 12:32but there's something else.
- 12:34On top of the lion's sun medallion is a crown.
- 12:38But that's black.
- 12:39So it's harder to see.
- 12:41- You're so right.
- 12:43- If this is a Leo, I mean, this is very Leo vibes.
- 12:47Like put a lion on, I put a crown on it.
- 12:50- Y'all's playing.
- 12:51(laughing)
- 12:53- Wow.
- 12:54- So I was curious if this was like,
- 12:56if this meant anything.
- 12:58So I zoomed in on it and like Google photo,
- 13:03what's that called?
- 13:04Photo search set.
- 13:05- Image search.
- 13:06- Google image search.
- 13:07- Image search.
- 13:08- That's what I'm trying to say.
- 13:09- So Google image search set.
- 13:10And it does come up with like coat of arms,
- 13:13not nothing specifically.
- 13:15That's this specific type.
- 13:17- Oh, okay.
- 13:17- But just like the lion figure itself,
- 13:20I just learned a lot about heraldry
- 13:23that I just didn't even know I needed to know.
- 13:26- Say again about heraldry.
- 13:28- Okay.
- 13:30- It's like the art of coat of arms.
- 13:32- Okay, okay.
- 13:33- Of like the family crest type deleos.
- 13:36- Yeah, okay.
- 13:37- And a family crest is actually part of a coat of arms.
- 13:40- Oh.
- 13:41- I know a lot.
- 13:42I didn't really like it.
- 13:43It's not, it's not.
- 13:44- It's interesting though.
- 13:45- It is interesting.
- 13:45I went down a weird rabbit hole, but I like it.
- 13:48- Yeah, I don't need to take you guys down there with me.
- 13:50- I mean, whatever.
- 13:51- But it does kind of seem like they just took like images
- 13:54and like maybe made their own.
- 13:56I didn't find anything that this specifically meant anything,
- 13:59but it could.
- 14:00- Tristan.
- 14:01- I don't know.
- 14:02But I tried Google in it.
- 14:04I tried.
- 14:05Also the two lion statues, those are no longer there.
- 14:09- What?
- 14:10- Because dicks, vandalizing.
- 14:13- Oh, no.
- 14:14- One of them got stolen.
- 14:16Yeah, so they're unfortunately no longer there.
- 14:19And that's really sad to me, because I'm like,
- 14:21those are like the gate protectors, you know?
- 14:23- Yeah.
- 14:24I was just thinking to myself, which would be more difficult.
- 14:28Stealing a stone lion or a real live lion.
- 14:33- I, I don't know, man.
- 14:36And these are like, they're like made of like brass
- 14:39or some kind of metal too.
- 14:41- They're quite sizable, so no small feet.
- 14:44- Ridiculous.
- 14:45And I think one of them like someone just like push it down.
- 14:48They're probably like kids, stupid dumb kids.
- 14:52- You guys again, dick road, don't be a dick.
- 14:58I know, you know?
- 15:00- The gates are like iron or something.
- 15:01It's like a pretty pattern iron.
- 15:04You can see through it.
- 15:05So when you look through, you can see down the road
- 15:07and the road starts to curve.
- 15:09And at the, at the curve in the road, at the bend in the road,
- 15:13there is an Egyptian statue.
- 15:15I was like, what is this?
- 15:17'Cause the picture that I have, I can't really,
- 15:19I was like, it's a statue.
- 15:21- Okay, now I'm sending you the zoomed-in photo.
- 15:23- Yay!
- 15:24- Okay, so this is, a lot of people would assume, Anubis
- 15:29because the place is known as Oculus and Anubis, right?
- 15:32This is very clearly not a new bus.
- 15:34This is, oh, obviously.
- 15:36- Very clearly.
- 15:38Because I have done the research.
- 15:39Well, actually I do know what Anubis looks like.
- 15:42And I was like, just looking at it,
- 15:43I can tell this has like a lion face and Anubis.
- 15:47Like we talked about is a jackal.
- 15:48So I was like, well, this doesn't really look like him.
- 15:51- No, that makes sense.
- 15:52- Okay.
- 15:53- But a lot of people do say that,
- 15:54that's who that is in the statue, but it's not.
- 15:57It's the Egyptian goddess, Sekhmet.
- 16:00- Okay, Sekhmet has a woman's body
- 16:03and the head of a lioness with a halo-esque sun disk
- 16:08on her head.
- 16:09- Okay, I'm glad you explained that.
- 16:11- Because I was like, that's a hat.
- 16:14- Yeah, no, it's the sun representative of the sun.
- 16:17- All right.
- 16:18- And that kind of makes sense
- 16:19because she was created from the fire of the sun God, Ra.
- 16:23- Ever heard of them?
- 16:25- No. - Not familiar.
- 16:27- Nope.
- 16:29See, done anything lately?
- 16:31- Not lately, I don't think.
- 16:32- Haven't seen him at the box office.
- 16:34- Don't smite me Ra.
- 16:36- I don't know if he does that or not.
- 16:38- I feel like that's a uniquely Judeo-Christian
- 16:41type of a vibe.
- 16:43- I don't know.
- 16:44- Ancient Egypt gods are not super nice
- 16:48and we're gonna go into it right about now.
- 16:50- Excellent.
- 16:52- So she's also known as the Eye of Ra,
- 16:55which is a very powerful symbol of fury and violence,
- 17:00but also of protection and healing.
- 17:02- Okay.
- 17:03- So two sides to that coin.
- 17:05- Oh yeah, for sure.
- 17:07- All right.
- 17:08- Just like Sekhmet, who is known
- 17:10as the Goddess of War and Healing.
- 17:13- Okay.
- 17:14- All right.
- 17:15Listen, people can be complicated.
- 17:17- Very complicated.
- 17:18- I get that.
- 17:19- Especially gods and goddesses, you know?
- 17:21They got a lot going on, okay?
- 17:23- I mean, situations are nuanced and it's a lot.
- 17:28- She was also the patron deity of physicians and healers.
- 17:32- Oh.
- 17:33- So that is for what a pain in that
- 17:36as Caitlyn would like to say.
- 17:38- I don't like to say that at all.
- 17:42- You say it every episode.
- 17:44- I mean, but I don't like that I do.
- 17:48- I love it.
- 17:49- If it makes anyone feel better,
- 17:50I don't like that that's what I say.
- 17:53- But here we are.
- 17:54- I love it.
- 17:55And then I also love when you add it
- 17:56and it's just like so automatic,
- 17:58but you're like, wait,
- 17:59you don't need to pin that
- 18:00'cause I'm talking to you about it right now.
- 18:02- I know.
- 18:03- No pins.
- 18:04- That's come up a few times.
- 18:05- That's my favorite thing.
- 18:07- Take your pin out.
- 18:10- There it is.
- 18:10- Here it is.
- 18:12- So why does everyone think that this entrance
- 18:16to this property looks so evil and even satanic?
- 18:19People think it's like evil and satanic.
- 18:22- All right.
- 18:23- 'Cause there's stuck in the 90s and I guess,
- 18:27I guess I missed the memo of like when Egypt
- 18:30became like evil and satanic, like Egyptian imagery.
- 18:35- I guess I missed the memo where I'm supposed
- 18:37to panic about satanism.
- 18:39- Right, also.
- 18:39- I know, what is the satanic panic?
- 18:42It's all weird to me and I don't understand it.
- 18:44- Yeah.
- 18:45- Also pyramids, like why are those bad?
- 18:48- Not really sure.
- 18:49They're on our money.
- 18:51- Yeah.
- 18:52- I literally brought a dollar bill out
- 18:53because there's a pyramid on it with an eyeball on top.
- 18:57- Yeah.
- 18:58- I mean,
- 18:59- Oculus.
- 19:00- What is it,
- 19:00E pluribus unum
- 19:05- I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
- 19:06- Well, language is that.
- 19:07- It's Latin.
- 19:08- No.
- 19:09- I should know, I know Oculus.
- 19:11- Yeah.
- 19:12- So I feel like eyes are like a strong theme
- 19:18in Egyptian culture to it kind of feels like.
- 19:21- I think so.
- 19:22- Yeah.
- 19:23- What do you mean they guess there is kind of another theme here
- 19:26that people could consider evil, like fire, death gods,
- 19:31anubis, you know, he's a death god.
- 19:34People are scared of death as we know.
- 19:36So they just label it all evil.
- 19:38- Oh, are they?
- 19:39- Wow.
- 19:40- Yeah.
- 19:41- They are a bunch of plebs.
- 19:43- I don't know what that means.
- 19:44- It's kind of like saying like plebian is like,
- 19:48- Oh.
- 19:49- Almost like peasant.
- 19:50- Oh.
- 19:51- Just to put it in like the most, like,
- 19:53what a foolish concern.
- 19:56- Seriously, like we're all gonna end up there.
- 19:58Like,
- 19:59why are you gonna be so scared?
- 20:00- Yeah.
- 20:01- 'Cause it's fucking scary.
- 20:03- Well, it's just, it's interesting to me
- 20:06that anything to do with like death,
- 20:08people like wanna label evil.
- 20:10- Yeah.
- 20:11- I do think that's like where it becomes sort of a
- 20:14misnomer, I guess.
- 20:16- Yeah.
- 20:17- Like they're not causing the death.
- 20:18They're just taking care of the dead.
- 20:20Like one day you want someone to take care of you
- 20:21when you cross over.
- 20:23- Just saying like, if you're gonna die,
- 20:26maybe you want that guy in to like,
- 20:29everyone will die.
- 20:30- Yeah.
- 20:31- Was it when I'm trying to say,
- 20:32"Boylar alert."
- 20:33- Yeah.
- 20:34- Just trying to soften the blow, okay?
- 20:36- So even like with the black stones,
- 20:38I feel like people look at the color black as evil as well.
- 20:43- As we all know, black is evil.
- 20:47- It's so, it's so infuriating,
- 20:49'cause it's like my favorite color.
- 20:50It's the best color in the world.
- 20:52And it was a very fortunate color for Egyptians,
- 20:55because it was the color of the rich soil
- 20:58that was left after the Nile would flood.
- 21:01- Yeah.
- 21:02So to them, it symbolized fertility, new life,
- 21:04and resurrection.
- 21:06Makes sense.
- 21:07- Yeah.
- 21:08Very fortunate.
- 21:09- Black is a great color.
- 21:10- Black and gold also.
- 21:12- Yeah.
- 21:13- Basically my wedding colors, black, golden blush.
- 21:16- You're,
- 21:17Oculus Anubis.
- 21:18- Basically.
- 21:19- Also with Sekhmet being a very powerful woman
- 21:24associated with worn violence,
- 21:27even sometimes referred to as the mistress of dread,
- 21:31the mallor, or the lady of slaughter.
- 21:35- Oh my.
- 21:37- So I could see how people could turn something like that
- 21:40into something evil,
- 21:41even though she's also known for healing.
- 21:44- Yeah, I mean, to be fair, that does imply,
- 21:47I mean, literally the word dread, I feel.
- 21:49- Yeah.
- 21:50- I could understand that it creates a little bit of a sense
- 21:53of foreboding.
- 21:55- I mean, just don't be on the herb outside, you know?
- 21:58- Yeah, that's right.
- 21:59- Do the good things in life.
- 22:00That reminds me of like when I discovered that,
- 22:03you know, I would be a doom witch,
- 22:04I was like,
- 22:05- Oh, yeah.
- 22:06- Yeah.
- 22:07- You know, embrace it.
- 22:09- Yes.
- 22:09- So I wanna read you this fact from Sekhmet's good side.
- 22:14I just, I think it's so much fun,
- 22:16and I'm such a cat person,
- 22:17so I just have to give you this fun fact.
- 22:20From Egyptianmuseum.org.
- 22:23- Give it to me.
- 22:24- Quote,
- 22:25the ancient Egyptians believe that Sekhmet
- 22:27had the cure for every problem.
- 22:29In order to stand her good side,
- 22:32they offered her food and drink,
- 22:34played music for her, and burned incense.
- 22:37They would whisper their prayers into the ears
- 22:40of cat mummies,
- 22:41and offer them to Sekhmet.
- 22:43They believe that this was a direct connection
- 22:45to the deities,
- 22:46and their prayers would be answered.
- 22:49- That's so cute.
- 22:50- They whispered into little kitty mummy ears.
- 22:55I am a little bit sad about the cat mummies.
- 23:00- I mean, they die,
- 23:01and then that preserved.
- 23:03- Not always how mummies happen.
- 23:05- Well, we can just pretend that the cat's
- 23:06all died of natural causes.
- 23:08- We're just gonna say that all mummies died of natural causes.
- 23:11- All mummies died of natural causes.
- 23:14And they were preserved very beautifully.
- 23:16- Yes.
- 23:18- We obviously, we know there's some history there,
- 23:20but we're not here to go into all that.
- 23:23- Yeah.
- 23:24- So she can breathe flames down upon you,
- 23:27but if you feed her and give her some music,
- 23:32some nice atmosphere,
- 23:33she can solve all your problems.
- 23:35- Cassie,
- 23:36- What?
- 23:37- Like a dragon and a lion.
- 23:39- Yes.
- 23:40- It's like cat-like,
- 23:41and then like very mother of dragons.
- 23:44- Well, I was like, I feel like this is how all women should be.
- 23:47Oh, are we not all?
- 23:50- Kind of.
- 23:51(laughing)
- 23:52- Just give us food and you'll be fine.
- 23:55- Feed me tacos and tell me that I'm pretty.
- 23:58Or fried chicken.
- 23:59- Yeah, fried chicken chicken.
- 24:01- There's also another interesting rumor
- 24:04about the property,
- 24:05and I don't really think if anyone knows if they're actually built,
- 24:10but the property does have permits
- 24:14for heated underground tunnels.
- 24:16- Ooh.
- 24:17- Yeah.
- 24:19- So that's interesting and people's like,
- 24:22minds just go wild with all of this.
- 24:26Like why are there underground tunnels?
- 24:29What are they doing down there?
- 24:31And I think because it's the property is so secretive,
- 24:34people aren't really allowed to go on there
- 24:36because it's private property.
- 24:38- Private property.
- 24:39- And because like the gate,
- 24:41the statues are visible.
- 24:43- It's very intense. - Very intense.
- 24:44- So unique and intense.
- 24:46And honestly, it's like stunning.
- 24:49- I would love to have a gate like this.
- 24:51- Hell yeah.
- 24:52- It's so unfortunate that people make up all these crazy stories
- 24:56about it.
- 24:57- I know.
- 24:58- 'Cause it's just such an easy target.
- 25:00- It's kind of low hanging fruit,
- 25:03but like, I don't know, try harder at life.
- 25:05You know?
- 25:06- Well.
- 25:07- The rumors were fueled by, can you guess it?
- 25:11- Dicks.
- 25:12- Reddit.
- 25:13- Close. - Close.
- 25:14(laughs)
- 25:16- Yeah, it's different but same same.
- 25:18You know?
- 25:19- So there is a Reddit post saying that this person drove
- 25:22down the driveway to the house.
- 25:24- Okay.
- 25:25- And said that when they rolled up to the house,
- 25:29all the windows were open.
- 25:30Like all the blinds were open, all the lights were on.
- 25:33And there was just a bunch of people standing in the windows
- 25:37staring back at them.
- 25:39- Oh, okay.
- 25:40Yeah.
- 25:41So now I am starting to get a little bit of an evil fight.
- 25:45- Right.
- 25:45- Because that's the nightmare fuel.
- 25:47- Does sound like, it's very creepy
- 25:49and they said that they were like pretty much standing still
- 25:51for like a long time just staring at their car.
- 25:54- That's horrific.
- 25:55It's the worst flash mob in history.
- 25:58- Just like a, oh my God, like a silent still flash mob.
- 26:02- Well, that's how they are before they do the dance, you know?
- 26:06They are all like, a lot of times.
- 26:09- Like, are milling about and then start.
- 26:12But can you imagine if people are just milling about
- 26:15and then everyone all this ends to stops?
- 26:18Like, would you think that's like a really good prank, honestly?
- 26:21I kind of, I want someone to do that to me.
- 26:24- I hate that.
- 26:25I hate that so much.
- 26:27Don't you fucking dare.
- 26:29- I would be like the world is frozen.
- 26:30I can go rob a bank.
- 26:32- Oh, okay.
- 26:33Well, you know, we might have a thing or two to say about that.
- 26:37Okay.
- 26:38So here we are.
- 26:39We're at our first official scoot.
- 26:41- Oh, well, I might bring you down though.
- 26:44- Well, it's a half-scoot technically.
- 26:46I did say you could get one good at least one.
- 26:49- Yeah, for sure.
- 26:50- Okay.
- 26:51People also say that they, if they do venture on to the property,
- 26:54they get chased out by like either cars or other people.
- 27:00They just, you know, people come and find them
- 27:02and chase them off the property.
- 27:04- But not rabbid bears.
- 27:06- I guess not.
- 27:07Okay, rabbid bears.
- 27:09So not that I know.
- 27:10That's good.
- 27:11But I'm like, it's private property.
- 27:15It might seem normal for people to be chased off private property
- 27:20that they're on without the owner's permission.
- 27:25So I don't know.
- 27:26I don't feel like that matters.
- 27:29Probably not as sinister as it sounds.
- 27:31- Exactly.
- 27:32- Yeah.
- 27:33- Okay.
- 27:33And two, I was thinking if the story is true
- 27:36about the people in the windows,
- 27:37which it was on Reddit, on a known creepy pasta-esque.
- 27:42- Okay.
- 27:44- So Reddit, whatever it's called, I don't even know.
- 27:47- I've come to understand that everything
- 27:49that is posted on Reddit is, of course, based in fact.
- 27:54- So factual.
- 27:56- Yeah.
- 27:57- Yeah.
- 27:58- So everyone's fact checking everyone
- 28:00and everything is fine.
- 28:01- Yeah.
- 28:02So I mean, this is like a real red string conspiracy theory
- 28:06territory, but yeah.
- 28:07- Please go on.
- 28:08- I am going on.
- 28:09- Okay.
- 28:10- My thought was maybe they were having a big party.
- 28:14- And everyone knew that everyone was at the party
- 28:17and there was no other arrivals.
- 28:19So they see this car coming down the private dark driveway.
- 28:24What are you gonna do if you're not expecting someone
- 28:27who's coming in a car?
- 28:28You're gonna look out the fucking windows, right?
- 28:31- True.
- 28:31- True.
- 28:32Or what if, what if something else happened
- 28:36where all of a sudden everybody wants to like,
- 28:38you're just like you heard a weird sound
- 28:41and one person goes,
- 28:43right, you're all listening.
- 28:46I imagine if that was true, something like that probably.
- 28:51- And I feel yeah.
- 28:52- Yeah.
- 28:52- Okay.
- 28:53- And honestly, if you're on my private property,
- 28:55I might try to be creepy and stare you down
- 28:57from my window too.
- 28:58- All right.
- 28:59Get the fuck out of here.
- 29:00I'm at a party.
- 29:01I don't wanna chase you.
- 29:02- I might just stare you down if you come into my space
- 29:07at any particular time.
- 29:08Like, you know, private property or not.
- 29:11Like, seriously.
- 29:12Get out.
- 29:13- Totally.
- 29:14Leave everyone alone.
- 29:15There's also a rumor,
- 29:18but the gate is unlocked on Halloween Eve.
- 29:22- Ooh.
- 29:23- Which is very spooky,
- 29:25but I'm like, are they trying to just like pass out candies?
- 29:28- Halloween Eve.
- 29:29- Halloween Eve.
- 29:30- Halloween Eve.
- 29:31- Does that mean the eve of like Halloween night
- 29:34are like the day before?
- 29:35- That's like October 4th, I feel like.
- 29:37- Do they mean like,
- 29:37- I'm interpreting that as the day that I was conceived.
- 29:39- Right.
- 29:41Oh.
- 29:42- Why are you thinking about that?
- 29:44- Because my due date was July 30th,
- 29:47and I was born on the 29th,
- 29:48and I feel like, I don't know,
- 29:50part of me is feeling like it's calling from here.
- 29:53It's private property, so, you know,
- 29:56not gonna do anything about it, but like.
- 29:59- Yeah, 'cause like typically we think of like Christmas Eve
- 30:02as like the day before.
- 30:03So yeah.
- 30:04- Yeah.
- 30:04- That's interesting.
- 30:05Like why would it be unlocked?
- 30:08Obviously this is a rumor too.
- 30:09I don't know for sure.
- 30:12Someone did say that they went,
- 30:14and they were able to get in on Halloween Eve,
- 30:16but they didn't go too far, they got scared and laughed.
- 30:19(laughing)
- 30:20You know, that happens.
- 30:22- I'm too much of a chicken gin.
- 30:24I'm not suggesting that I'm going to go.
- 30:26- Yeah, I think everyone should be clear on that.
- 30:28- No, but if they were like passing out candy
- 30:30or something like totally I would go.
- 30:32- Oh, I wonder if that's like maybe they're really
- 30:35into Halloween, and they're like anybody who dames
- 30:39to like come down.
- 30:41- The day before?
- 30:43- Well, they unlock it the day before
- 30:45so that it's good and ready, and it probably takes you
- 30:48until the 31st, walk your way down to the front door.
- 30:52- Or do they want to trap all of that?
- 30:54- That's what I was thinking.
- 30:55- Children who try to come in the gate on Halloween Eve.
- 31:00(laughing)
- 31:02- Part of me thinks too, like what if this is a typo
- 31:04and someone wrote like all Hallows Eve,
- 31:07and they changed it to like Halloween Eve?
- 31:09- I don't know.
- 31:10- That would be interesting.
- 31:12- I'm thinking too hard about this.
- 31:14- I don't think you can ever think too hard about anything.
- 31:18- You're using my hat rack here.
- 31:20- That's right.
- 31:21- I did joke about like trapping the children,
- 31:23but people do accuse them of being human traffickers.
- 31:28- Oh, I did see this.
- 31:29- Yeah, because of like the tunnels and things.
- 31:32- But very Shanghai.
- 31:33- There's really no people say there was like smoke
- 31:38and like other buildings like coming from the property
- 31:41that we're shady looking, but those aren't pictures
- 31:44of this property.
- 31:45They're like completely something that somebody made up.
- 31:48- Okay.
- 31:49- Also, how does one go about becoming or appearing
- 31:54as a shady building?
- 31:58- They were just like spooky looking.
- 32:01- I didn't take the photo.
- 32:03I didn't get it.
- 32:04- 'Cause they're like, they're obviously not real.
- 32:06- Yeah, it was just like a weird set of like domed buildings,
- 32:09like little buildings and I don't even know
- 32:12where the photo came from.
- 32:14- It just--
- 32:14- And domes obviously infamously shady.
- 32:17- Evil and shady.
- 32:18They're hiding people in there.
- 32:20- Listeners of the pod, but infamously shady.
- 32:23- I think it mostly comes from the tunnels.
- 32:25- Okay.
- 32:26- The fact that there's tunnels and then there is some people
- 32:28who have gone onto the property and I think
- 32:32they're photos of the property.
- 32:33I can't really quite be sure.
- 32:36- Yeah, you're like, I haven't been there.
- 32:37So it's kind of hard to fact check.
- 32:39- Who knows?
- 32:40I mean, it's like so many trees and things.
- 32:42It could be of anywhere, really.
- 32:44But I did link to it if anyone's really curious.
- 32:46You can go through and look in my links for things.
- 32:49But so people have gone onto the property
- 32:51and there's some other like statues.
- 32:53I think I saw like a statue of raw that was,
- 32:56he's got like a bird face, which does make sense
- 32:59'cause he's related to segment, right?
- 33:02- Yeah.
- 33:03- It's unfortunate as faces go.
- 33:05- Bird face.
- 33:06- Bird face.
- 33:07He's like in a cage.
- 33:09Like it's not like set up.
- 33:11He's like still in his like enclosure.
- 33:13I don't know from like when they transferred the statue.
- 33:16I'm thinking.
- 33:17- Interesting.
- 33:18- And then there's like some statues of like water
- 33:21in the base and people say like,
- 33:22oh look, you can see stairs leading down
- 33:25and I'm like, I can't see anything.
- 33:28I feel like you can.
- 33:29Is that is that so?
- 33:31- Yeah.
- 33:32- Okay.
- 33:33- Even if there were like, I don't know.
- 33:35That's kind of cool.
- 33:37- Yeah.
- 33:37- It looked and.
- 33:38- And.
- 33:40- And.
- 33:41- Yeah.
- 33:41- But they think they like lead down to the tunnels
- 33:43and shit.
- 33:44And then there's also this one photo of,
- 33:45it looks like a bunch of like boulders and rocks
- 33:48but the rock it looks like a flat like doorway almost.
- 33:52- Ooh.
- 33:53- There's like, it doesn't look like there's really
- 33:56any way to open it or anything.
- 33:57I don't know if it's actually a doorway
- 33:59or if that's just like what it looked like
- 34:01when they were doing their landscaping.
- 34:04I really don't know.
- 34:05- Yeah.
- 34:06- So it's like a lot of yes-ending
- 34:08to get to the place that some people have.
- 34:12- Yeah.
- 34:13- Yeah.
- 34:14They're working themselves up.
- 34:14- Yeah, exactly.
- 34:15Cause I'm like, you can see these things individually.
- 34:18You don't know what they were intended for.
- 34:20- Yeah.
- 34:21- That you could just make it fit whatever
- 34:23- Human trafficking rumor that you would like.
- 34:26- Yeah.
- 34:27Maybe they're not trafficking people.
- 34:29Maybe they're trafficking drugs.
- 34:31- Maybe.
- 34:31- There you go.
- 34:32Let's start a new rumor.
- 34:33- Anything.
- 34:34- Don't start any rumor.
- 34:36- I'm just saying it goes to sort of what you're saying about.
- 34:40You don't know what the intent is.
- 34:42- Right.
- 34:43- Right.
- 34:44- But also I'm like, wait, who hasn't said,
- 34:48I know we have.
- 34:49Like we would love to get a property
- 34:51and build houses on it and then have them connect
- 34:54through tunnels.
- 34:55That would be pretty cool.
- 34:57- And have secret rooms and stuff.
- 34:59Can you imagine all the evil rumors
- 35:00they're gonna have about us?
- 35:04- It's across I'm willing to bear.
- 35:06- Believe it or not.
- 35:07- Just don't vandalize my shit.
- 35:09- Okay.
- 35:09- No.
- 35:10I mean, we'll have electric fences.
- 35:11So that won't be a problem.
- 35:13- Buzz buzz, buzz buzz.
- 35:15- Oh, they do say that they have like cameras
- 35:16all around the property.
- 35:17So I don't know if I've mentioned.
- 35:18- So it's gonna say that.
- 35:19- Did I talk about that?
- 35:20- No.
- 35:21- Did I think that makes sense?
- 35:23- Yeah.
- 35:24People have said they've seen them like in the pyramids
- 35:26at the front and like in the trees and stuff.
- 35:29- Did they see that thing where it's like in Jason Bourne
- 35:32or other, I don't know, whatever fucking movie
- 35:35where like the camera like it turns its, you know?
- 35:38Like it turns its head like it's falling you.
- 35:40- I don't know.
- 35:41- 'Cause the creep factor of that.
- 35:43- Yeah.
- 35:44- I'm with that.
- 35:45- Like that.
- 35:46- And people say when they just like come to the entrance too,
- 35:49they'll like be there for a couple minutes taking photos
- 35:52and then all of a sudden someone will like drive up
- 35:54or come up and like tell them to leave.
- 35:56Like, bye.
- 35:57- Yeah.
- 35:58Like basically chasing them off just less dramatic.
- 36:00- Yeah.
- 36:01- They're chasing them off, but you know,
- 36:03from behind gate and asking politely.
- 36:06- Yeah, there was various stories about the chasing off.
- 36:09You know, there was dramatic ones,
- 36:10there was less dramatic ones, but it's a theme for sure.
- 36:14So they could be watching you, just be prepared.
- 36:18Don't go there, but.
- 36:19- Well, you know, if you do,
- 36:20if you're probably watching you.
- 36:22- Mm.
- 36:23- You know,
- 36:25- Fogger.
- 36:27- Makes so much sense later.
- 36:29(laughs)
- 36:32- People also accuse them of being a cult.
- 36:34- I mean, I see how they get there, maybe.
- 36:38- I don't know.
- 36:39- Big property,
- 36:40multiple houses being built on the property.
- 36:43- Tumor.
- 36:44- I know, I sounded really giggly.
- 36:45- Oh, giggly.
- 36:46- When I saw that, sorry.
- 36:47- Right.
- 36:48- Yeah, tunnels.
- 36:49All this Egyptian stuff, it's a thing.
- 36:52It's another one of those rumors that just,
- 36:55I feel like snowballs.
- 36:57In general, I do think that when white people co-opt a,
- 37:02you know, culture or religion that is foreign to them,
- 37:06that does feel very colty.
- 37:08So I get that, you know.
- 37:10- Like if you're not familiar with it.
- 37:12- Yeah.
- 37:13- You're just like, I made this up.
- 37:15- There was one, oh my God, this is so bad.
- 37:18There was one podcast I was listening to,
- 37:20and I,
- 37:21- Not gonna name it.
- 37:22- And I didn't link it.
- 37:23- But you'll tell me later, right?
- 37:24- I don't know if I ever-
- 37:25- She's like, I don't even fucking care about them.
- 37:27- Yeah, I can probably try to find it real quick,
- 37:29but they said, "The entire town of Damascus
- 37:34was involved in the cult."
- 37:36- No.
- 37:39- That seems like something.
- 37:41- Yeah, like probably you don't have two nickels
- 37:44to rub together, I'm guessing.
- 37:46But that seems like, you know,
- 37:48you might wanna be a little bit more careful
- 37:50about the things that you say
- 37:51because people can sue you.
- 37:53- Yeah.
- 37:54- For words to come out of your wordful.
- 37:56- Right.
- 37:57- I just thought that was like a crazy,
- 37:58the craziest, one of the craziest statements I'd ever heard,
- 38:01like trying to be a razor.
- 38:03- They just like, they have like a new initiative
- 38:07on their next ballot.
- 38:09- Oh, right.
- 38:10- And they're like, we want to basically take like,
- 38:12X percent of our city's revenue,
- 38:16and we wanna use it to sue the living shit
- 38:19out of these ridiculous podcast.
- 38:21- Yeah.
- 38:22- Not us, not other ones.
- 38:23- Yeah, hopefully you listen
- 38:25because like I'm trying to clear this shit up, okay?
- 38:28I'm trying to be one of the good guys.
- 38:30- That's just wild though.
- 38:31- Yeah, the entire toll of Damascus is in this cult.
- 38:35Because of this one house that has a cool fancy gate,
- 38:38like it's crazy.
- 38:41- Listen, I don't know, maybe that's accurate.
- 38:45Seems like a little bit of a reach to me.
- 38:48I'd like to see some receipts.
- 38:49- Yeah.
- 38:50- I mean, I feel like also people just kinda like poop
- 38:52on the town because it is one of the towns
- 38:54and Oregon that is not blue.
- 38:57It's one of the red sections of Oregon.
- 39:01But they don't deserve to be accused of being an occult
- 39:04and unless they aren't.
- 39:06- They're actually doing bad things.
- 39:07- Yeah.
- 39:08- Are you doing bad things?
- 39:10- Are you actually a cult?
- 39:11- Yeah.
- 39:12- I think they're probably fine.
- 39:13- Yeah.
- 39:15- There is another reason though
- 39:16that people think that there's some sort of cult involved.
- 39:21This is getting crazy, okay?
- 39:23- This is where the juicy, the juicy's are.
- 39:27- The juicy juices.
- 39:28- This is where the juicy's are.
- 39:29- It's where the juicy juices.
- 39:31That's where I wanna be.
- 39:32- Juicy fruit.
- 39:34- There is a website, OculusInubis.com.
- 39:37- Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 39:39- The quote on the, I think this is on like the first page
- 39:43of the website.
- 39:45It says, "As a 501(c)(3) non-profit religious organization."
- 39:50- Did notice that?
- 39:52- Yeah.
- 39:53- We are committed to our goal of reclaiming
- 39:55and preserving our sacred spaces.
- 39:58Sustainably establishing a center focused on spiritual healing
- 40:03while actively combating trafficking,
- 40:06standing against racism involving the land.
- 40:09Does that make any sense to anybody?
- 40:13- I think I've latched on to some part of that
- 40:20that I vaguely might have an idea of what they're saying.
- 40:25Unfortunately, they have gone about saying it in a,
- 40:34it's a Caesar word salad.
- 40:37- It is very word salad-y.
- 40:38- Like, yeah.
- 40:40- And very interesting too that they mentioned trafficking
- 40:44'cause that's like one of the rumors.
- 40:46So that's very interesting.
- 40:47- I feel like that's where that comes from.
- 40:48- It might.
- 40:49- So they're like, you know what they say there are against,
- 40:53but they're not.
- 40:54- Well, I hope not.
- 40:56Like that's a really actually scary thing.
- 40:58- It is, but I think that's where that comes from.
- 41:01I think that's how the rumor starts.
- 41:02'Cause they're like, "Oh, did you see that?"
- 41:04- Oh, you know what I'm saying?
- 41:05- I don't know 'cause this, I don't know what was first,
- 41:09the rumors of the website.
- 41:10You know, I feel like the website came after.
- 41:12- Maybe.
- 41:14Okay.
- 41:14Okay.
- 41:15- And I'm sure I could go to the website and see the year.
- 41:18I have a lot more from the website though.
- 41:19We're gonna.
- 41:20- Sluet it.
- 41:21- We're gonna get into it.
- 41:23Does the websites have the year like at the bottom
- 41:25of their name?
- 41:26- Sometimes that's not like a standard thing anymore.
- 41:29- Like 2024.
- 41:30So like copyrighted in 2024.
- 41:32So.
- 41:33- Which that would change I think annually.
- 41:35- Yeah.
- 41:36- I think that just indicates like the most recent.
- 41:38- Not when it was made.
- 41:39- Yeah.
- 41:40- Well, okay.
- 41:42So there's more on this site.
- 41:43They have a press tab.
- 41:46And under the press tab is a post titled Community Healing
- 41:51that says,
- 41:53quote, "Oculus and Nubis is a religious non-profit."
- 41:58I stumbled over the first and then really fucked up
- 42:00the second.
- 42:01- Yeah, because it feels ridiculous what you're saying.
- 42:03- Yeah, I understand.
- 42:04- And there's gonna be a lot of reading
- 42:05because it's just so ridiculous that I couldn't like
- 42:08something like I can't.
- 42:09- You just like have to hear it.
- 42:10- There is no Cliff Notes version.
- 42:12There are only direct quotes.
- 42:13It's odd.
- 42:14- Yeah.
- 42:15- Okay.
- 42:16- Quote, "Oculus and Nubis is a religious non-profit
- 42:20that is guided by healing, compassion and inclusivity
- 42:23as we embark on our journey to acquire
- 42:25the future church property at blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
- 42:29in Damascus, Oregon.
- 42:31We want to address any misconceptions or concerns
- 42:34that may have surfaced due to the history mentioned
- 42:38in the blog post on articlecats.com.
- 42:42Titled,
- 42:43"The Myth of Oculus and Nubis
- 42:45how do you accuse your neighbor of running a cult?"
- 42:48- Oh my God, I'm so excited.
- 42:51I feel like this has a very similar vibe
- 42:53to Nancy Brophy writing a blog post
- 42:57about how to kill your husband and get away with it.
- 43:00You know?
- 43:01Yay, I'm so excited for me.
- 43:04- So I just thought this was really weird.
- 43:09The way that they write about this article,
- 43:11which is again titled,
- 43:13"The Myth of Oculus and Nubis."
- 43:15It sounds like this article created a bunch of these rumors.
- 43:20It's what they make it sound like.
- 43:22- Okay, okay.
- 43:23- But I read the article and it debunks
- 43:25all of the common rumors and myths
- 43:28and like alleged photos of the property.
- 43:30That's where I found out that those photos
- 43:32that people were like circulating were not from the property.
- 43:35- Okay.
- 43:37- And it basically says the stories being spread
- 43:40about this place are just because it has a unique look
- 43:44in the site, like, "Bashe is this article,"
- 43:47which is so weird to me.
- 43:49- They're like, "We don't need your help."
- 43:52- It's very odd.
- 43:54- I was literally so confused and I feel like
- 43:56I just have to like read this to you.
- 43:59- Okay.
- 43:59- Because I couldn't, I just have to read it.
- 44:02- There's no Clif Notes only quotes.
- 44:04So they pulled this quote from the Mythbusters article.
- 44:09- It's not Mythbusters, but it is.
- 44:11(laughing)
- 44:12- The article cat.
- 44:13- That's the vibe.
- 44:14- The article.
- 44:15- The vibe.
- 44:16- So the quote from article cat says,
- 44:18"If you do a Google image search on the Temple
- 44:20of Oculus and Ubisoft,
- 44:21you have everything you need to support.
- 44:23The initial story is being spread,
- 44:25a fancy gate, an Egyptian-esque statue,
- 44:28strangely looking domes under a pyramid frame.
- 44:30So those were like the fake pictures.
- 44:32- Okay.
- 44:33- And underground corridors.
- 44:34And it's talking about these are all the things
- 44:36that are rumored.
- 44:37- Okay.
- 44:38- Yeah, yeah.
- 44:39- And it's like,
- 44:40"I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 44:42"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 44:44"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 44:47"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 44:49"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 44:51"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 44:53"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 44:55"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 44:57"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 44:59"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 45:00"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 45:02"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 45:04"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 45:06"and I'm just going to be a little bit more
- 45:07and that readers are left with
- 45:09is that some eccentric private citizens
- 45:11have a fancy gate and a religious statue
- 45:14that connects to their heritage,
- 45:15beliefs of four spirituality.
- 45:18If the gate were adorned
- 45:19with more conventional iconography.
- 45:21- Yes, of course. - Yes.
- 45:22- Would anyone even think twice about it?
- 45:25Would websites spread rumors of a cult
- 45:28or accuse a family of trafficking then?
- 45:30- No.
- 45:32- I mean, it's an obvious answer.
- 45:34- Yeah.
- 45:35- Yeah. - This is their response
- 45:36on OculusAnubis.com.
- 45:39- This shut up.
- 45:40(laughing)
- 45:41- This notably incorrect statement
- 45:44from this frequently retweeted blog post states
- 45:47that there are no underground tunnels
- 45:49when there are not only permits
- 45:52to confirm this existence, which there are.
- 45:54You can see them.
- 45:55- Okay, so they're like actually,
- 45:56but you're wrong.
- 45:57We have tunnels, okay?
- 46:00- But we also have multiple online accounts
- 46:02from explorers of said tunnels.
- 46:04The people who are making up all of the rumors, right?
- 46:08- Yeah.
- 46:09- What else about this post might be incorrect?
- 46:12- So are you saying that they should spread the rumors
- 46:16and accuse the family of cult and trafficking?
- 46:19- I know, I'm like, okay, so do you want to specify?
- 46:24'Cause I feel like that's important at this point.
- 46:27- Like it's debunking this thing
- 46:28that is trying to debunk the bad.
- 46:32- Yeah. - Okay.
- 46:33- Am I- - And they're not even, no, no, no, no.
- 46:35- Miss reading this. - We are evil.
- 46:37- Like that's what it sounds like it's trying to say.
- 46:41(laughing)
- 46:43- Okay.
- 46:43- And I don't think that they were even debunking
- 46:46like the tunnels, they were just saying the tunnels aren't,
- 46:49like the rumors about the tunnels are wrong.
- 46:51I don't think they were ever saying like there's no tunnel,
- 46:56either.
- 46:56So I just like, I thought it was really odd.
- 46:59A couple of things that I had quoted from the website
- 47:02in the beginning were like, we want to acquire this property.
- 47:06- Yeah. - Meaning?
- 47:09Whoever's running this website does not own this property.
- 47:13- Allegedly.
- 47:14- Allegedly, but you can Google who owns a property
- 47:18and it's not- - It's not.
- 47:19- It's not the same person that runs this website at all.
- 47:22- How can we be sure?
- 47:24I mean, I guess it could be like a deep fake, but-
- 47:28- I don't know. - They don't have any questions.
- 47:30- The people who live there,
- 47:31they don't want people coming on.
- 47:33They chase them away, they don't want them there.
- 47:35So I don't think that they have anything to do
- 47:38with the website.
- 47:39I don't think they want this kind of attention.
- 47:42- Because they're private.
- 47:43Well, we'll go into it.
- 47:45- Okay. - Who lives there?
- 47:46I guess we haven't really gotten there yet, but.
- 47:48Yeah.
- 47:50It was just supposed to be like a family's property.
- 47:53Like it's not-
- 47:54- Okay, so this is not a religious organization.
- 47:56- Yeah, it doesn't appear to be some sort of shadow
- 48:00organization or LLC based in the Caymans.
- 48:04- I mean, not this one.
- 48:05- Okay.
- 48:06- So also under the press tab on this website,
- 48:10they kind of do bash the current residents
- 48:13and they try to kind of expose some fraud
- 48:16that they do have evidence of
- 48:18and they do link to the stories.
- 48:20I'm not really gonna get into it
- 48:21'cause there's other stuff I need to get into.
- 48:23- Shit.
- 48:24- And that is someone who still lives on the property.
- 48:27So you're like, I don't know.
- 48:29I don't wanna go into all her shit.
- 48:31- Yeah. - If you're curious.
- 48:32- You can find it.
- 48:34- And I will.
- 48:36- But yeah, so the fraud is definitely a theme
- 48:39which we're gonna get to very shortly.
- 48:42But there's clearly a dispute over the land.
- 48:46Like, seems to be this one person thinks that they want it.
- 48:50There's other people actually living on it.
- 48:52They're like, but we own it.
- 48:53- Right.
- 48:54- Yeah, so.
- 48:55- Wow.
- 48:56- It gets messy.
- 48:59So the gossip and myths might turn out to be false
- 49:03but there is some very true crimes surrounding the property.
- 49:07And I'm not gonna use their names.
- 49:08I don't know if this is like a pussy move,
- 49:11like not using these people's names.
- 49:13- Not necessarily.
- 49:14- But I feel like it was, it's not like murder.
- 49:16So I don't know.
- 49:17- I mean, and it depends on how pertinent their crimes are.
- 49:22- You know, I feel like you have to just use your best
- 49:25judgment.
- 49:25- And the family still is on the property.
- 49:27So I'm like, I don't know.
- 49:28- You can easily find it if you want to,
- 49:29but I just like, I don't need to.
- 49:31- I do think there is something to be said for like,
- 49:33this is publicly available.
- 49:35If you want that information,
- 49:37I'm gonna make you work for it.
- 49:38I feel like that's fair.
- 49:39- Visit the paceman.
- 49:40- Yeah.
- 49:41- Or Google, just Google,
- 49:43share yourself with the pop.
- 49:43- Or visit the paceman.
- 49:45(laughing)
- 49:47- This is a story from the Oregonian published in 2017.
- 49:51- Ooh.
- 49:52- There was a 41 year old man sentenced to one year
- 49:57and one day in prison in order to pay 2.5 million in restitution
- 50:02for scamming health insurance and the internal revenue service.
- 50:09- I mean, honestly.
- 50:10- A K, the IRS.
- 50:11- Yeah, not a smart move in terms of the IRS,
- 50:14but like, you know.
- 50:15- Don't do that, man.
- 50:17- Health insurance companies, like probably not a smart idea,
- 50:19but fuck 'em.
- 50:21- Fuck 'em.
- 50:22- Right.
- 50:23I mean, at this point.
- 50:24- Yeah. - And this is back.
- 50:25- No, pretty much always, the vibe is fucking.
- 50:29- But still, like, you're gonna get in trouble
- 50:31if you do that, right?
- 50:32- It's a catch you.
- 50:34- Yeah.
- 50:35- Yeah. - It sounds like they caught them
- 50:36because this man was sentenced.
- 50:37- He done did get caught.
- 50:39- He claims he was, quote, "acting as a servant
- 50:44for his manipulative monstrous and distorted father."
- 50:48- End quote.
- 50:49- Okay, I assume we were gonna say wife.
- 50:51- No. - Okay.
- 50:52- Father.
- 50:53- Great.
- 50:54- At their eye care clinic in Russia.
- 50:59- Fuck up.
- 51:00- Eyes.
- 51:01- Oculus.
- 51:03It all makes sense.
- 51:04- In 2015, the optimologist who I'll be referring to
- 51:11was Papa Oculus.
- 51:13He died at 80 before being charged with the crimes.
- 51:16- Oh.
- 51:18- But they sure charged his son.
- 51:20- Oh shit.
- 51:21- Okay, that's right.
- 51:22- Literally, yeah.
- 51:23- He got time.
- 51:24He was ordered to pay the $2.5 million.
- 51:27That is a bummer.
- 51:30Although there were claims of abuse to his son and wife
- 51:35at the hands of Papa Oculus,
- 51:37the family used the Ilgotton money from the shell company
- 51:41called Oculus Inc. to live off of and start to build
- 51:46a 35,000 square foot house.
- 51:50- Wow. - 35,000 square foot house.
- 51:53- That's a million house.
- 51:55- That's a compound.
- 51:56A mansion is arguably like 10,000 square feet.
- 51:59That's a fucking compound.
- 52:01- Which kind of now this also fed into some of the rumors.
- 52:06- Coltie.
- 52:07- With its very own hella pad, of course.
- 52:12- I'm also giving Coltie vibe.
- 52:15- Not gonna lie.
- 52:16- And was to be connected to another home on the property
- 52:19by way of heated tunnel.
- 52:22- So the tunnels are true.
- 52:23- Yeah. - Still,
- 52:24I don't know if they actually have been built.
- 52:26We just can see the permits.
- 52:28- We know the permits. - Yeah, exist.
- 52:30- Yeah. - That's fair.
- 52:31'Cause actually the construction,
- 52:33that's a lengthy process.
- 52:35- Right. - Yeah.
- 52:35- And as far as I know,
- 52:37the house was never finished.
- 52:39- Jesus Christ.
- 52:40- Okay.
- 52:41- So people are talking about tunnels
- 52:42that more than likely,
- 52:44- Unless they built the tunnels first before the house.
- 52:48- Well, you know, I'd be actually,
- 52:51from like a seismology standpoint,
- 52:55it might seismological seismologically.
- 52:59It might make more sense to do the tunnels first.
- 53:04- Maybe. - I doubt that's what they did.
- 53:06And they probably don't have tunnels running
- 53:10like under the complete footprint of the house
- 53:13and depending on how deep they go
- 53:15and I'm not a geologist or an architect or an engineer.
- 53:20- Do you know something?
- 53:21- Yeah.
- 53:22- But, you know, I don't know.
- 53:23There's arguments that we could make.
- 53:26- Yeah, that is an interesting thought.
- 53:28I kinda hadn't really thought about that.
- 53:29But I just air dropped you the Google image photo
- 53:34and you can see the unfinished.
- 53:36You could basically just see like the foundation
- 53:39of the house and like beams, like exposed beams.
- 53:42- Okay. - Like it's unfinished.
- 53:44- I mean, knowing what I know,
- 53:47I can tell that that's what that is.
- 53:48- Yeah, without even zooming in because it's kind of big.
- 53:52- It is quite sizable and that's that very,
- 53:56I know what Rebar looks like.
- 53:57- Right, I don't like that.
- 53:59- But I know what that looks like.
- 54:01So, I was trying to see if it would give like a date
- 54:04on the when the map was taken.
- 54:08- It probably doesn't on your screenshot,
- 54:10but Google image typically does.
- 54:14- Okay, Kylan web sleuthed around
- 54:16and we think she thinks that the Google images are current.
- 54:21So, we don't think the house has been built ever.
- 54:25Still exposed, probably getting very damaged.
- 54:28- Yeah, Rebar, I'm surprised that it says.
- 54:31- Yeah, I was gonna say, I'm surprised that it looks like
- 54:35some, like the color of cement, essentially,
- 54:39'cause they were at some stage of the foundation.
- 54:42- Yeah, I wonder what it looks like close up.
- 54:44- Yeah. - Ooh.
- 54:45- So, we're gonna go on and keep talking about this family
- 54:50who was involved in this fraud.
- 54:54- Oh, right, there were people.
- 54:56- They were just talking about Rebar.
- 54:58- Yeah. - Okay.
- 55:00- Wow.
- 55:01- So, the son who I referred to here as Spawn Evoculus,
- 55:06Spawn of Papa Oculus, his defense was that Papa O
- 55:13was a lot different behind closed doors.
- 55:15And then what the community saw of him, and knew of him.
- 55:19So, - He was in disbainting.
- 55:21- I really don't wanna know.
- 55:24- Oh no, I said it and then I was like, I regret this.
- 55:27- 'Cause I called him Papa.
- 55:28- Yeah.
- 55:29- But there was like, yeah, allegations of abuse
- 55:31to the son and wife and I don't, he was dead.
- 55:34So, it's like he can defend himself.
- 55:37I really don't know what's true and what's not.
- 55:39This is from the son's perspective.
- 55:42- He also apologized in court and claimed that
- 55:47because of his traumatic upbringing
- 55:49and his autism spectrum disorder,
- 55:52that he didn't understand what he was doing was wrong
- 55:56until his team of lawyers helped him understand.
- 55:59- Wow, that's really interesting.
- 56:00A lot of people trying to use an autism spectrum disorder
- 56:05to defend their behavior of late.
- 56:07- Yeah.
- 56:08- And I mean, the judge obviously disagreed
- 56:11'cause he did plea guilty as well.
- 56:13- Okay.
- 56:14- He was like, yeah, I'm guilty,
- 56:15but so he wasn't really trying to get out of it.
- 56:18He was just, here's sort of an explanation,
- 56:20which I don't know if you're,
- 56:22if maybe really traumatized.
- 56:24You work for your dad who traumatized you
- 56:27and I'm not saying that like, because you're autistic,
- 56:30you don't know like right from wrong.
- 56:32I really don't know that side of it,
- 56:35but I could see how you would just be like,
- 56:36do you just do whatever he says?
- 56:38- Yeah.
- 56:39- You know, I don't know.
- 56:40My understanding of autism spectrum disorders
- 56:45is that you have a very defined sense of justice.
- 56:51- Right, that's kind of what I thought.
- 56:56- So, but like who makes the rules?
- 56:59Who knows rules are you trained to follow?
- 57:02You know, that trauma or abuse, alleged or you know,
- 57:07maybe that changes your perception of what,
- 57:12what that looks like with justice.
- 57:15- Looks like.
- 57:16- He did also ask for help in like his future,
- 57:19like career endeavors, like help and guidance.
- 57:23So I don't, so maybe there's some good side
- 57:25of how good he's doing better.
- 57:28- Okay.
- 57:28- You know, I really don't know.
- 57:29I didn't look into what he's doing now or where he's at
- 57:33because it wasn't where he's at is not involved,
- 57:36but we do know some other things about
- 57:39some of the other family members.
- 57:41- I'm so excited.
- 57:42- So the actual current owner, when you Google the property,
- 57:47is the son's spawn of Oculus, it's his wife or ex-wife.
- 57:52I'm not really sure I didn't really dig down that path
- 57:55to see if they actually got divorced
- 57:57'cause I feel like that's probably in the records,
- 57:59but I don't know where to look at things.
- 58:02- I'm sure some sort of court filing
- 58:05that can confirm that in that case.
- 58:07- Yeah, but I feel like I didn't need to go do that.
- 58:10- We don't care.
- 58:11- She still has his last name.
- 58:12- Yeah.
- 58:13- I mean, like, who knows?
- 58:16- Yeah.
- 58:17- People keep their name, people don't.
- 58:18- Yep.
- 58:19- There has also been some dispute between her
- 58:22and Papa O's wife.
- 58:25- Ooooo.
- 58:27- So the wife of, or the mom of mother-in-law, sorry,
- 58:32that's not interesting.
- 58:33- I was getting, well, like what is this?
- 58:35- So the thing that this reminds me of
- 58:37is do you remember that movie that JLo did
- 58:40where it's monster and love?
- 58:43- Well, it might be the reverse.
- 58:45Yeah, so apparently from what all,
- 58:49there's a ton of YouTube videos and stuff on the property.
- 58:51There's actually some people who went on the property
- 58:54to move the lion statues for the mom, mama-oh,
- 58:59we'll just call her mama-oh, 'cause I'm not using names.
- 59:02- Yeah.
- 59:03- And they actually got chased off by the daughter-in-law.
- 59:08So they, from what everyone says,
- 59:11they think there's kind of a dispute about the land.
- 59:14So the daughter-in-law actually owns it,
- 59:17but the mama-oh lives there.
- 59:20And I think they're like fighting over the land.
- 59:24- That's very interesting.
- 59:26- And there's like, I couldn't find records
- 59:28of like who actually lives on the property, you know?
- 59:31- Oh, we could find that.
- 59:32- Probably can't.
- 59:33- But I don't know if she officially,
- 59:35she doesn't own the property.
- 59:37So I don't know if she officially lives there.
- 59:39Some of those things can be a little bit murky.
- 59:41- Yeah.
- 59:42- Which I was like, I've gone down so many robberholes.
- 59:45Like I feel like we just,
- 59:46we don't need to know who's on the property,
- 59:48just that there is people living there.
- 59:50I feel like, so.
- 59:51- Okay.
- 59:52- Yeah, it seems that's fair to say.
- 59:53- Yeah, okay.
- 59:54- And then potentially so this like third other person
- 59:57with their religious organization.
- 59:58So there's like potentially three people
- 1:00:00like fighting over this land.
- 1:00:02- Yeah, they're wow.
- 1:00:04Like a triangle.
- 1:00:05- Yes.
- 1:00:06- A pyramid.
- 1:00:06- Oh.
- 1:00:07- I also did find out that Mama O is of Egyptian descent.
- 1:00:13So.
- 1:00:14- Okay, so that makes it a lot less weird than--
- 1:00:17- When you find that out, it's like of course they're gonna,
- 1:00:20if they have all this money, they're gonna--
- 1:00:22- It's like a celebration of her culture and heritage.
- 1:00:26- Yeah.
- 1:00:27- So everybody else is just dexed.
- 1:00:30- Exactly.
- 1:00:31- I know, when I found that, I was like, well, duh.
- 1:00:33Like obviously there is a blog post or article
- 1:00:37that kind of did like a ton of internet digging
- 1:00:40and figured out who was running the Oculus
- 1:00:43the Nubis website, the church website.
- 1:00:45- Okay, I so wondered.
- 1:00:46- She, I mean, she doesn't look Egyptian to me.
- 1:00:50I mean, I don't know.
- 1:00:51But I'm like, who are these other people
- 1:00:53who are trying to like run this religion?
- 1:00:55That's like not your, it's not your,
- 1:00:58like you're stealing this religion.
- 1:01:01- That is so interesting.
- 1:01:02- And like, creating, I don't know.
- 1:01:04I feel like they're kind of making it their,
- 1:01:06I don't know, they don't say what their religion is.
- 1:01:09- Like appropriating?
- 1:01:10- Yes, sounds like to me.
- 1:01:13Anyway, I thought that was pretty interesting.
- 1:01:16But some white girls coming in and trying to take this property
- 1:01:20from an Egyptian woman who decorated it with her own
- 1:01:25ancestral art.
- 1:01:27- Wow, wow.
- 1:01:29It's just gross.
- 1:01:30- You know how people suck?
- 1:01:31- Yeah.
- 1:01:32- Yeah.
- 1:01:33- Yeah.
- 1:01:34- There's also a donate tab on that site.
- 1:01:35Just like I would say not to donate.
- 1:01:37- Probably not.
- 1:01:39- I'm gonna not.
- 1:01:40- Unless you're very sure what something is about
- 1:01:42and what they're doing with the money.
- 1:01:44And yeah, I don't know.
- 1:01:47Like they're taking, are they taking donations
- 1:01:48to be able to buy the property?
- 1:01:50Like God, I just like, is it for sale?
- 1:01:52(laughing)
- 1:01:53- No, I know.
- 1:01:54- Like there's one more thing.
- 1:01:56- Okay.
- 1:01:57- I don't know who started calling it Oculus Anubis.
- 1:02:01Like I feel like people, I don't know if the owners,
- 1:02:04if that family who lived there,
- 1:02:06if that's what they called their property.
- 1:02:08But I kind of just feel like people saw
- 1:02:10like the Oculus name from the shell company,
- 1:02:15the Oculus Inc.
- 1:02:18And then like there's so many statues,
- 1:02:21like Egyptian statues and people were like,
- 1:02:23confusing that one big statue in the front for an Ubis.
- 1:02:26Like did they just make up this name?
- 1:02:29- See to me that reads as, especially knowing,
- 1:02:32like I'm just not as familiar with some of that iconography
- 1:02:37and I was like, oh, I'm so excited.
- 1:02:41- Really, you know.
- 1:02:43I think that seems totally plausible.
- 1:02:48I feel like this is not even of their own making.
- 1:02:52I feel like this is like a third party
- 1:02:54that's just like Oculus Anubis, OVs.
- 1:02:57- And then some other lady just made a church out of it.
- 1:03:01- It's odd.
- 1:03:02And I did kind of like look through all,
- 1:03:04'cause I found that where Oculus came from
- 1:03:06and I was like, oh, cool.
- 1:03:07And I was like expecting them to say
- 1:03:09like that's what they called their property.
- 1:03:11And I didn't find anything like that.
- 1:03:13- To confirm that.
- 1:03:14- Yeah, no confirmations on where the Anubis part
- 1:03:18of the name actually came from.
- 1:03:21Or if people were just like evil, death, God,
- 1:03:24Oculus Anubis.
- 1:03:25It's also interesting too because like,
- 1:03:28there's like the eye of raw and the eye of some other guy,
- 1:03:32it starts with an H, I can't remember what it is.
- 1:03:34Horace or something.
- 1:03:35- Horace, so I'm like, why wouldn't they pick one of those?
- 1:03:38'Cause it's like the eye, but they made it eye of Anubis.
- 1:03:42- Yeah. - It's like, isn't really a thing.
- 1:03:43I don't know.
- 1:03:44It's interesting.
- 1:03:45- Like interesting.
- 1:03:46It seems like someone who doesn't know a lot about Egypt.
- 1:03:49- Right.
- 1:03:50- Just making up shit.
- 1:03:50- First one they thought it.
- 1:03:52And they mashed it together.
- 1:03:54- Exactly.
- 1:03:54- And they probably have all of the best words.
- 1:03:57- Kind of moral the story is.
- 1:03:59- Though there might be some actual juicy stuff here.
- 1:04:03Some real true juicy stuff along with them,
- 1:04:05all the made up juicy stuff.
- 1:04:07But that still doesn't mean you have the right
- 1:04:09to be disrespectful to the property.
- 1:04:11Just because someone associated who used to live there
- 1:04:15got convicted of a crime,
- 1:04:17like doesn't give you the right to go in.
- 1:04:20Gawk at it or be noisy and disrespectful
- 1:04:24to everyone and all the other neighbors.
- 1:04:25So, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:04:27Honestly, if you look into it, probably that's the case
- 1:04:30with a lot more properties than people realize.
- 1:04:34- Yeah.
- 1:04:35So.
- 1:04:36- Reminds me too of the hell house.
- 1:04:38Like this house that just happened to have terrible things
- 1:04:42happen in it.
- 1:04:43And then people just like going crazy over it.
- 1:04:46Well, the address thing also didn't help.
- 1:04:48But like the numbers, but that was, yeah.
- 1:04:53Yeah.
- 1:04:53No, it's interesting because I feel like now
- 1:04:56where we were just talking about this off my egg
- 1:04:59before we started recording that we're getting close
- 1:05:03to 200 episodes.
- 1:05:05And I feel like now there are so many times
- 1:05:09where as we're talking about it,
- 1:05:13whatever that episode is about, whatever the topic is
- 1:05:17that it's like you see so many parallels
- 1:05:20to other things that we've covered in an episode.
- 1:05:24And at a certain point, I'm like, okay,
- 1:05:26well, like how many of our past episodes
- 1:05:28can we talk about and it feels a little
- 1:05:30almost self-indulgent?
- 1:05:32But I'm like, no, it's just so interesting to see where
- 1:05:35I don't know, it kind of takes me back like,
- 1:05:40what is the, it's sort of like those who don't
- 1:05:47understand or learn history are doomed to repeat it?
- 1:05:50And it's sort of just like, you see these same principles
- 1:05:54come up time and time again in like certain we do.
- 1:05:59Yeah, we do that with like all the episodes I feel like
- 1:06:04this reminds us of that.
- 1:06:05And it's like really impressive that we can actually recall
- 1:06:08what we've done in the past 200 episodes.
- 1:06:10Yeah.
- 1:06:11No, I feel like it doesn't say anything spectacular
- 1:06:15about my memory per se.
- 1:06:17I think it's more about the pattern, recognition.
- 1:06:20Yeah.
- 1:06:21That's memory accounts.
- 1:06:23Kind of, yeah, you know, whatever.
- 1:06:26Well, I just want to leave you with one comment,
- 1:06:29one part of a comment that was on one of these YouTube videos
- 1:06:33that I found about the property.
- 1:06:35All right, this person's comment says, quote,
- 1:06:39"This is a great lesson in the damaging ripple effect
- 1:06:42of gossip and rumors."
- 1:06:44That property is gorgeous.
- 1:06:46Ex-entrissities doesn't equal devil worship or cults.
- 1:06:51Holy shit.
- 1:06:52My job.
- 1:06:53Okay.
- 1:06:54So this is really crazy, but the damaging impact of rumors,
- 1:07:01holy fucking shit.
- 1:07:03Is that a theme and like something you're talking about?
- 1:07:05Literally the episode that I'm doing next.
- 1:07:09Oh my gosh.
- 1:07:11It is a huge.
- 1:07:15It's huge.
- 1:07:16Huge.
- 1:07:16Huge.
- 1:07:17But huge component of my next episode.
- 1:07:21Interesting.
- 1:07:22Wow.
- 1:07:22We were just picking up all the vibes.
- 1:07:24Me always do.
- 1:07:26I know it's so bizarre because I've had this case earmarked
- 1:07:29for a long time and I feel like we both,
- 1:07:32it sounds like both of these topics,
- 1:07:35we've been like, oh, I'm going to cover this.
- 1:07:37Yeah.
- 1:07:37And now here we are covering them kind of, you know,
- 1:07:41for our intense and purposes.
- 1:07:43As far as release, they're not going to be exactly
- 1:07:46back to back per se, but still.
- 1:07:49It's like, that's cool.
- 1:07:51Whoa.
- 1:07:52I don't know if they will be.
- 1:07:53Actually, I, maybe I take that back.
- 1:07:55This is the next one we're going to record from you.
- 1:07:57Yes.
- 1:07:58And yes, they will be back to back.
- 1:07:59So sometimes I lie that it's always on accident.
- 1:08:02Unless it's on purpose.
- 1:08:03Yes.
- 1:08:06Unless it's on purpose.
- 1:08:08I was really going to say unless plans change,
- 1:08:10but then that just felt too perfect to say
- 1:08:12after he said that.
- 1:08:15All right.
- 1:08:16Well, let's do some tarot for this bitch.
- 1:08:19I think we should.
- 1:08:20Oh, you lost all of those.
- 1:08:32Oh, hello, the high priestess.
- 1:08:40OK, I spread out the cards.
- 1:08:43We were thinking Egyptian thoughts.
- 1:08:46And I pulled the high priestess, which is number two,
- 1:08:51the major arcana, number two like poo poo.
- 1:08:57Like you do, like two lions at your gates.
- 1:09:03Big kids.
- 1:09:04It's interesting too.
- 1:09:05We did get like the high priestess.
- 1:09:07Well, I want to look at the I want them.
- 1:09:11God, I can't fucking dog.
- 1:09:13Fucking sad.
- 1:09:14I hope they describe the traditional card.
- 1:09:16Because I feel like there's some Egyptian imagery on some of the cards.
- 1:09:21And I feel like this might be one of them, but I can't quite remember.
- 1:09:26I'm not sure that this one does, but OK, either way,
- 1:09:29we talked about like a powerful woman.
- 1:09:31So that's interesting.
- 1:09:33Yeah.
- 1:09:34She does kind of have a Cleo vibe here.
- 1:09:37Oh, OK.
- 1:09:38Yeah.
- 1:09:40OK.
- 1:09:41Our keywords are intuition, emotions, feminine power, imagination, spirituality.
- 1:09:50OK, perfect.
- 1:09:51The inner life.
- 1:09:54The inner life, that's kind of just like so interesting.
- 1:09:59Because they're like secretive and like introverts.
- 1:10:04Yeah.
- 1:10:05So introverted that they might have tunnels.
- 1:10:07Yeah.
- 1:10:09Oh.
- 1:10:10And what's inside those tunnels?
- 1:10:14Don't know.
- 1:10:15That's cool.
- 1:10:17This beautiful and enigmatic card symbolizes feminine spiritual power,
- 1:10:23or the goddess from whom all life comes and to whom it all returns.
- 1:10:28That's that duality.
- 1:10:30Oh, yeah.
- 1:10:32Some deck show her as a serene female figure,
- 1:10:36seated with a book or scroll on her lap to indicate wisdom.
- 1:10:41Other decks depict her gazing into the distance
- 1:10:44at something yet to be revealed.
- 1:10:46Ooh.
- 1:10:47What's going to be revealed?
- 1:10:49Don't know.
- 1:10:51It reminds me too of like at the gate gazing
- 1:10:53into the distance at the Statue of Segment.
- 1:10:55Bro.
- 1:10:57Bro.
- 1:10:58Bro.
- 1:10:59Bro.
- 1:11:02She's sometimes positioned between two pillars, one black, one white.
- 1:11:08OK.
- 1:11:09I'm just saying the pillars, it's really interesting.
- 1:11:11And then it--
- 1:11:12Oh, it keeps going.
- 1:11:13It is interesting because there are photos
- 1:11:16supposedly of the house where there's like pillars.
- 1:11:18And it looks like a base.
- 1:11:20I'm saying even at the gate.
- 1:11:22Right.
- 1:11:22It's it.
- 1:11:23It's it.
- 1:11:25It's maybe not pillars in the most traditional sense.
- 1:11:29I'm just-- the iconography matches up for me.
- 1:11:33But there are pillars.
- 1:11:34There are pillars.
- 1:11:35I don't know if I have that photo or not.
- 1:11:38Keep reading.
- 1:11:40Shut the fuck up.
- 1:11:41OK.
- 1:11:42So two pillars, one black, one white,
- 1:11:45which represent the dual nature of existence, good and evil,
- 1:11:49light and dark, truth and deception, positive and negative.
- 1:11:54Wow.
- 1:11:54We talked so much about that.
- 1:11:56We did.
- 1:11:58Interesting like the black coloring came up too.
- 1:12:00And that's like one of the things, hey.
- 1:12:03I talked about too.
- 1:12:04This is interesting.
- 1:12:06Extra.
- 1:12:07Extra.
- 1:12:08Sorry, I clicked on--
- 1:12:09No, you're good.
- 1:12:09I clicked on a picture of the gate when it was like all pretty.
- 1:12:13Let me see.
- 1:12:13I have to send this to you.
- 1:12:15OK.
- 1:12:16OK, I'm going to read the extra excerpt.
- 1:12:18OK.
- 1:12:19We all come from the goddess.
- 1:12:21And to her, we shall return like a drop of rain flowing
- 1:12:26to the ocean.
- 1:12:29Because I just feel like this had so much
- 1:12:31to do with iconography related to life and death.
- 1:12:37Definitely, though.
- 1:12:38I don't know.
- 1:12:40The gate doesn't look as black here
- 1:12:42as it does in some of the other photos.
- 1:12:44But--
- 1:12:45Yeah, that's interesting.
- 1:12:46But that does kind of look like pillars.
- 1:12:48Yeah.
- 1:12:48And I forgot there was the two torches
- 1:12:50on the side too, and they're lit in this photo.
- 1:12:53Wow.
- 1:12:54And the road is lined with pink flowers.
- 1:13:00They're almost red.
- 1:13:01And the statue--
- 1:13:03I didn't really mention the statue is white.
- 1:13:06Yeah.
- 1:13:06Like white.
- 1:13:07So we have that black and white.
- 1:13:08Very interesting.
- 1:13:10Black, white, and gold.
- 1:13:12OK.
- 1:13:13So we did draw this upright, correct?
- 1:13:16OK.
- 1:13:17The high priestess may advise paying attention
- 1:13:20to your inner world, dreams, imagination,
- 1:13:24and intuition, especially if you
- 1:13:26tend to be a logical, practical person.
- 1:13:31Look more deeply at your hidden talents and motivations,
- 1:13:34face your shadow, and reconcile your inner life
- 1:13:39with your outer one.
- 1:13:40But reminds me of the sun, kind of, immediately.
- 1:13:43Yeah.
- 1:13:46Upright, the high priestess suggests inner changes
- 1:13:50are taking place even if they haven't materialized yet.
- 1:13:53Something hidden is about to come for it.
- 1:13:57Oh, that freaked me out a little bit.
- 1:14:00I wonder--
- 1:14:03Like, I want something to come out about the property,
- 1:14:05but I wanted to feel good.
- 1:14:07Like, I want them to finish it and make it pretty not
- 1:14:11the religious way, not like what that person wants to do it.
- 1:14:14But--
- 1:14:14Yeah, I feel like I'm not feeling that.
- 1:14:16I feel like they could just do tours and stuff, you know?
- 1:14:20Yeah.
- 1:14:20Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:14:22But I mean, that's such a massive property and bill.
- 1:14:25It is.
- 1:14:25It would take a lot of money to do so.
- 1:14:28I mean, one would imagine--
- 1:14:30I'd just start charging people to tour.
- 1:14:32All freaking give you 20 bucks to come take a tour of the land.
- 1:14:35Right?
- 1:14:3720 bucks.
- 1:14:39This is interesting.
- 1:14:41OK, so there's another extra excerpt
- 1:14:43before our bulleted interpretations.
- 1:14:47The shadow, psychologist Carl G. Young,
- 1:14:50but the high priestess symbolized the shadow,
- 1:14:54the unknown, secret, dark, and mysterious part
- 1:14:58that lies within each of us.
- 1:15:01Pretty sure you used all of those words describing this play.
- 1:15:03Yeah, I think so.
- 1:15:05But also, like, the secrets of the doctor
- 1:15:07who is doing all the fraud, the ophthalmologist,
- 1:15:10and maybe possibly abusing his family behind closed doors.
- 1:15:14Yeah.
- 1:15:14That's really reminiscent of that, too.
- 1:15:16There's a lot-- I feel like there's a lot of ways
- 1:15:19you can kind of tie that.
- 1:15:20This next part will be fucking shit.
- 1:15:22OK.
- 1:15:24In a reading about money, you may be
- 1:15:26too otherworldly or impractical in financial areas.
- 1:15:32Perhaps you need to get a handle on spending.
- 1:15:37Yeah, you try to spend $3 million building
- 1:15:40stolen money, building a giant mansion.
- 1:15:44Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:15:45Maybe this card's for you.
- 1:15:48The high priestess can also advise listening
- 1:15:50to your intuition in an issue involving money.
- 1:15:56If the reading is about your job,
- 1:15:58this card recommends tuning into the invisible world, which
- 1:16:02is really interesting when we're talking about someone
- 1:16:05who has an occupation specifically related to the visible.
- 1:16:11Yeah.
- 1:16:13And taking advantage of your inner knowing
- 1:16:17and the spiritual guidance available to you,
- 1:16:21I'm getting such cool TV vibes.
- 1:16:23Yeah, I kind of am, too, which totally fits.
- 1:16:26Not that they have a cult, but there's cult themes, you know?
- 1:16:30I mean, it's tied to it, whether that's intentional
- 1:16:33on the part of the owner or anyone who's actually
- 1:16:36affiliated with the property or not.
- 1:16:38Yeah, it's like forever going to be--
- 1:16:40It's like kind of tainted in a way.
- 1:16:43OK.
- 1:16:45It can also mean working in a field that
- 1:16:47uses your inner power, intuition, and wisdom,
- 1:16:51such as psychology, holistic healing, or a spiritual path.
- 1:16:56OK.
- 1:16:57I really-- this kind of triggered in me,
- 1:17:00I would like to know, as an MD, I would think your license,
- 1:17:08probably--
- 1:17:09there's a fair chance it might be suspended.
- 1:17:15Based on some of these bad acts.
- 1:17:18And I wonder for someone in his position,
- 1:17:21different kind of doctor, not a traditional MD,
- 1:17:24but is he still licensed?
- 1:17:27Well, he's dead.
- 1:17:29No, I mean the son.
- 1:17:30Oh, the son?
- 1:17:31I'm not sure he was actually a doctor.
- 1:17:33I think he just worked there.
- 1:17:36I think he worked there, but it may have been in a different capacity.
- 1:17:39Yeah, I think he like did paper work, like probably filed
- 1:17:42all of the insurance claims and stuff.
- 1:17:45Oh, could be.
- 1:17:46I don't know 100%.
- 1:17:47That's interesting.
- 1:17:47But that's like the vibe I got.
- 1:17:49I don't think he was an eye doctor.
- 1:17:51OK.
- 1:17:51But yeah, I would imagine that his license would be taken.
- 1:17:55I would think.
- 1:17:56I would think.
- 1:17:57Not a guarantee.
- 1:17:58Yeah.
- 1:18:00OK.
- 1:18:03In a reading about love, the high priestess
- 1:18:05may describe a person who's intuitive spiritual in touch
- 1:18:10with the higher realms of existence.
- 1:18:14Reminding me of the word salad website.
- 1:18:17A little bit.
- 1:18:18Yeah.
- 1:18:19She can also represent a very romantic relationship
- 1:18:23that may not be well grounded in reality.
- 1:18:27That almost makes me think of the person who started the website.
- 1:18:31It's like she's in a relationship with this property that's not real.
- 1:18:34Yeah.
- 1:18:35Literally.
- 1:18:35She's being catfished by her own imagination about the property.
- 1:18:40Yeah.
- 1:18:40Is that a thing?
- 1:18:41I think it's a thing.
- 1:18:43We read that last line one more time.
- 1:18:46She can also represent a very romantic relationship that may not
- 1:18:50be well grounded in reality.
- 1:18:54It reminds me too of just like all the rumors and the people, especially
- 1:18:58like the high school kids who are romanticizing this property that's
- 1:19:03got a cult on it.
- 1:19:04Yeah.
- 1:19:05That's an interesting way to interpret that.
- 1:19:09Oh, thank you.
- 1:19:09No, I just, I think, wow.
- 1:19:14Yeah.
- 1:19:15But I feel like that it's not a word that we necessarily would readily
- 1:19:20associate, but how things become sort, like romanticized is actually a more
- 1:19:26appropriate word than it seems like on the surface.
- 1:19:30Yeah.
- 1:19:31Because it is taking something that may or may not be true and really
- 1:19:36interpreting it just in such a, I don't know, a twisted way.
- 1:19:42I don't romanticize actually feels so much more appropriate to me than I would have
- 1:19:46thought.
- 1:19:47I think so too.
- 1:19:48And especially if you're into spooky stuff too, you could be like really romanticizing
- 1:19:53it.
- 1:19:54Yeah, we're going to go on this property.
- 1:19:55It's going to be so spooky.
- 1:19:56All this weird shit goes down.
- 1:19:59Yeah.
- 1:20:00Yeah.
- 1:20:01Oh, I also had, I think, one more thought about, okay.
- 1:20:05Oh, so the high priestess is like a feminine card, right?
- 1:20:09And then there's like three women fighting over this land seemingly and like the men are
- 1:20:15just all gone.
- 1:20:16Yeah.
- 1:20:17I mean, I don't know if they are.
- 1:20:18Yeah.
- 1:20:19In all the stories, it's really about like three women.
- 1:20:20Yeah, I mean, they appear and then sort of become absent from the story.
- 1:20:26Whether or not that's truly the case is sort of, I guess, up for debate, but feminine energy
- 1:20:33for sure.
- 1:20:34All right.
- 1:20:35Have a creepy ass day.
- 1:20:38We'll see you next Tuesday.
- 1:20:41And she lost in the tunnels of Oculus Anubis.
- 1:20:47Under his eye.
- 1:20:48I don't want to be under any dudes eye.
- 1:20:50I'm not about that.
- 1:20:52I'm not about that.
- 1:20:54I'm not going.
