Wilmington’s got a powerful lineup of community events this month—where giving back meets celebration. On August 20th, cops and firefighters battle it out in the “Battle of the Badges” blood drive for the Red Cross. Then on August 21st, the Greenfield Grind Skate Park gets a new name: Alec Chambers Skate Park, honoring the late pro skater. Later that month, on August 28th, two MLK Center gyms are renamed to honor legendary coaches William E. “Big Train” Murphy III and Ronald E. Davis—local heroes who shaped generations.
