- 0:00SPEAKER_05: Previously on the Steve and Jeff Show.
- 0:02SPEAKER_05: Right, people, welcome to the Steve and Jeff Show, starring Claire.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: I I literally created the knock knock joke category as well as the Chicken Cross the Road one-liners.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: If I were to tell a joke, it would be hilarious, classy, not a degenerate shitstorm like they like.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: Tonight, the show is not about me.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, it is about me, but it's also about the Steven Jeff show and me.
- 0:28SPEAKER_05: Hey everybody, welcome to the very first episode.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: I I I still can't believe you recorded our session.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: That's a severe breach of trust.
- 0:37SPEAKER_05: She's breaking up with both of us.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: I originally started the whole category of therapy.
- 0:42SPEAKER_05: Your work will be extensive.
- 0:44SPEAKER_05: Jeff, they have mirrors where you live, right?
- 0:45SPEAKER_05: Jeff, you look like Jennifer Aniston.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And then my life would be ruined just like yours.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: But I wore the necklace that you gave me last year.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: I wore it.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: There was that one time when I caught you smelling your sister's strawberry short cape dolls.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: You borrowed that car a lot, Steven.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: What were you doing in it?
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Ciao, bitches.
- 1:03SPEAKER_05: Right, Miss Claire.
- 1:05SPEAKER_05: It's great to be back on the show, Jeff.
- 1:07SPEAKER_05: But I think we should tell the listeners.
- 1:09SPEAKER_05: I think we should tell the millions, really, the listens to the show, what's been going on.
- 1:13SPEAKER_05: We are not in eccentric Ladyland Studios tonight.
- 1:16SPEAKER_05: We are underneath in the basement of eccentric Ladyland Studios.
- 1:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and normally, Steve, we'd start off and I'd say, How's it going, Steve?
- 1:24SPEAKER_04: Oh, you know how it's going, Jeff.
- 1:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it ain't going the way it normally goes.
- 1:28SPEAKER_04: Um not that it's a bad thing, not that it's a bad thing, but it's different.
- 1:33SPEAKER_05: It is very different.
- 1:35SPEAKER_04: Not something we planned.
- 1:36SPEAKER_05: As those millions know, last week our producer, Miss Claire, locked us out of the studio, took over the show.
- 1:44SPEAKER_05: We have not been able to recapture the studio.
- 1:47SPEAKER_05: We have high hopes.
- 1:48SPEAKER_05: Oh, next week, I next week I really feel good, but we have not yet been able to recapture the studio.
- 1:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and when you say locked out, maybe a little strong, it was a scheduling issue that uh seems to be going on here, and maybe a locksmith.
- 2:04SPEAKER_04: Those are growing pains when you hire a new producer.
- 2:06SPEAKER_04: Stuff like this happens, Steve.
- 2:08SPEAKER_04: I'm not worried at all too much.
- 2:10SPEAKER_05: You know, that is really a great way to think about it because here I've been thinking she locked us out, but it could be a scheduling error, Jeff.
- 2:16SPEAKER_05: And the fact that my key didn't work could be just I maybe I bent it when I, you know, fell down because my mom and I were doing some drinking last night.
- 2:25SPEAKER_05: I kind of got a little carried away.
- 2:27SPEAKER_05: And uh, you know, I fell a little bit.
- 2:28SPEAKER_05: Maybe I bent it.
- 2:29SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 2:30SPEAKER_05: And the watch fob, who knows?
- 2:31SPEAKER_05: You know what?
- 2:31SPEAKER_05: I probably had it too close to my phone.
- 2:33SPEAKER_04: We should probably continue like it would be a regular show.
- 2:37SPEAKER_04: And speaking of that, Steve, I don't know if you saw in the local paper, but one of our old friends from from the show kind of made a name for herself with us.
- 2:47SPEAKER_04: And uh I think there's some there's some good news.
- 2:49SPEAKER_04: Uh, I think it was was it Chris Chrysanth?
- 2:52SPEAKER_04: Oh, Chris Trouble.
- 2:53SPEAKER_05: Oh, oh yes, yes, you did have trouble with that.
- 2:56SPEAKER_05: I did have trouble with that.
- 2:57SPEAKER_05: Chrysanthium, I think you kept saying it was it was like she was Greek or something.
- 3:04SPEAKER_05: Chrysanthian, it was like she was Lithuanian.
- 3:06SPEAKER_05: I yeah, it was it was so confusing.
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: I knew a lot of people by that name growing up, and they didn't pronounce it that way.
- 3:13SPEAKER_04: So, but I don't know if you heard that she's won an award.
- 3:15SPEAKER_04: I'm not real familiar with the area, but it it had something to do with uh Council Bluffs.
- 3:21SPEAKER_05: Um yes, I did see that, Jeff.
- 3:23SPEAKER_05: Thank you, thank you.
- 3:24SPEAKER_05: Yes, Mallory delivered the paper.
- 3:26SPEAKER_05: You know, she's back to delivering the papers because the poll thing didn't work out, but she delivered the paper, and I remember reading that she was named Fashion Influencer of the Year for 2022 in Council Bluffs.
- 3:40SPEAKER_05: Wow, I mean, that's a celebrity.
- 3:42SPEAKER_04: Well, and when you're talking fashion, the word the name Council Bluffs just automatically goes with it.
- 3:48SPEAKER_05: When you think Yves Saint Laurent, when you think Ralph Lauren, you think Council Bluffs.
- 3:56SPEAKER_05: Now we should apologize to our millions because we we don't have a new guest tonight, but you know, I think this guest is worth repeating.
- 4:03SPEAKER_05: A lot of people didn't hear this show, and I think a lot of people should hear this show because now that she's a celebrity.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: And the show may sound different to us since we're in the basement.
- 4:13SPEAKER_04: It will, and also it's kind of a different perspective and more echoey, but flatter, you know.
- 4:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:19SPEAKER_04: I don't remember exactly what we're gonna be playing uh what happened in that episode, but I remember it was earth-shaking and it really started, kicked off her career to where she is now, and I just couldn't be prouder.
- 4:31SPEAKER_05: That episode had such an impact on me.
- 4:33SPEAKER_05: I decided to dress better, and I dressed better the rest of that whole day.
- 4:38SPEAKER_05: I dressed better.
- 4:39SPEAKER_05: It didn't last, but but I digress.
- 4:42SPEAKER_05: It was powerful while it lasted.
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: So why don't we give uh give it a spin and let everyone listen to uh what I think was historically uh one of the best shows that we've ever done, and obviously has kicked off a career, you know, that will uh last forever.
- 4:58SPEAKER_05: And we have a new celebrity.
- 5:01SPEAKER_05: Johnny, play that show this past week.
- 5:04SPEAKER_05: I was doing outreach down in Florida, you know, and everybody jokes about Florida, and they're right, but they have some funny people down there, Jeff.
- 5:12SPEAKER_05: I was in Miami and then I was I was in Tampa.
- 5:14SPEAKER_05: Oh my gosh, Jeff, Tampa, what a great place, great cigar town.
- 5:18SPEAKER_05: I met a cigar roller that I think we should have on the show.
- 5:21SPEAKER_05: I was over in Waibor City there, and you know it's funny.
- 5:24SPEAKER_05: I think Wybor City is the capital of cigars, of course, is but I think it's also the capital of comedy because everywhere that I said Wybor City, everybody laughed.
- 5:32SPEAKER_05: It was hilarious.
- 5:33SPEAKER_05: Jeff, it was so funny.
- 5:34SPEAKER_05: Steve, again, you had me at rolling.
- 5:37SPEAKER_05: Oh, because I know your rolling skills, unless they've changed, your rolling skills have been pretty good over the years.
- 5:41SPEAKER_04: I guess pretty good, but I can always use some tips and not a big cigar person, but rolling in general is is a skill I think that everybody should develop.
- 5:50SPEAKER_04: I'd be very interested in hearing more about that.
- 5:53SPEAKER_04: But I think you digress.
- 5:54SPEAKER_05: I digress, yes, I do digress because Jeff, we have right here in our eccentric Lady Land studios, right here tonight.
- 6:00SPEAKER_05: Here, I'll just tap the glass.
- 6:02SPEAKER_05: See, right on the other side of that glass.
- 6:04SPEAKER_05: We have a very exciting guest, Jeff.
- 6:06SPEAKER_05: Now, we're a couple old guys.
- 6:07SPEAKER_05: I mean, let's admit it, right?
- 6:08SPEAKER_05: I mean, we're a couple old guys, and yeah, we're probably not really on the cutting edge of fashion.
- 6:14SPEAKER_05: But you know, Jeff, I have read in Voice Box magazine, you know, the one that talks about podcasts, yeah, fashion, big podcast item.
- 6:22SPEAKER_05: So people are listening to fashion podcasts.
- 6:25SPEAKER_05: So, Jeff, we have a fashionista, we have a fashion expert.
- 6:30SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 6:31SPEAKER_05: And she's right over there.
- 6:32SPEAKER_05: Her name is Chrysanthemum.
- 6:34SPEAKER_05: Chrysanthemum, welcome to the show.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: You are welcome.
- 6:38SPEAKER_05: Oh, it's so great to see you and have you on the show tonight, Chrysanthemum.
- 6:42SPEAKER_05: How did you decide to become a fashion expert?
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: Well, uh, it all started uh when I uh created my Instagram, which now has over 200 followers.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: Yes, it is in the triple digits, triple digits two zeros.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: It it took us very impressive.
- 7:04SPEAKER_05: It took us many months to get that many listeners, Jeff.
- 7:07SPEAKER_05: It really did.
- 7:08SPEAKER_04: The math is over my head a little bit.
- 7:10SPEAKER_04: 200, I'm not sure exactly what that is, but I'm very impressed.
- 7:14SPEAKER_04: I'm kind of known for sort of my 60 minutes grilling skills.
- 7:18SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna get to the point here.
- 7:20SPEAKER_04: What's the difference?
- 7:21SPEAKER_05: So you roll and then you drill?
- 7:22SPEAKER_05: Do you roll first?
- 7:23SPEAKER_05: I do grill.
- 7:24SPEAKER_05: I do.
- 7:24SPEAKER_04: Okay, I do.
- 7:26SPEAKER_05: Sometimes it's good to roll first and then you're hungrier for the grilling.
- 7:29SPEAKER_05: So it just kind of makes sense.
- 7:31SPEAKER_05: But but I digress, but okay.
- 7:33SPEAKER_04: My first question is what's the difference between an expert and an influencer?
- 7:37SPEAKER_04: Oh, these tough questions, I know.
- 7:39SPEAKER_05: That's insightful.
- 7:40SPEAKER_05: Wow, you have been watching 60 Minutes, haven't you?
- 7:43SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, it's it's a skill.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: Well, I would say that an expert knows things, but an influencer influences things.
- 7:55SPEAKER_05: Wow, what an answer.
- 7:56SPEAKER_05: So Chris exactly what I was thinking.
- 7:58SPEAKER_05: Chrysanthemum, you're really a fashion influencer.
- 8:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes.
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: Everybody loves to listen to me because I know all about what everyone else should be wearing.
- 8:11SPEAKER_05: Well, you know, and of course that leads right to the question: what should people be wearing?
- 8:16SPEAKER_05: What is the big fashion trend for 2023?
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: I would say it's either minimalism or maximalism, but there's nothing in between.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: So you need to be either wearing every accessory that you own at all times whenever you leave the house in every color or nothing, nothing at all.
- 8:42SPEAKER_05: I've kind of lived my life that way, Jeff.
- 8:44SPEAKER_05: You know, I just and I didn't know that I was be doing fashion.
- 8:47SPEAKER_05: I just kind of did.
- 8:48SPEAKER_05: Usually did the nothing, but sometimes I did the everything, you know.
- 8:50SPEAKER_05: It's it's fine.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: Minimalism is very in right now.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: So, you know, just don't wear anything.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: Birthday suits, I think, are gonna be making a comeback.
- 9:00SPEAKER_04: Especially those double lapel birthday suits, you know, the ones with the the folds on both sides, you know.
- 9:06SPEAKER_04: Is that what it's called?
- 9:07SPEAKER_05: The ones that look like a tux, you know, it's like a t-shirt, but it looks like a tux.
- 9:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh yeah, those are on the back, on the back it says it's my birthday.
- 9:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:14SPEAKER_05: Or take me or it's my birthday, or yeah, kiss me, I'm Italian, whatever.
- 9:19SPEAKER_05: You know, or it's my birthday, and all I got was this birthday suit.
- 9:22SPEAKER_05: No, there's a birthday suit, yeah.
- 9:24SPEAKER_05: That kind of stuff.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:25SPEAKER_02: Actually, words and writing on clothing are gonna be out unless it's written in like a very specific niche language that's trending.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: Ohvish.
- 9:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah, Elvish.
- 9:45SPEAKER_05: Ooh, I loved him.
- 9:47SPEAKER_05: You know, I was so sorry when he died.
- 9:49SPEAKER_05: That movie about him was pretty good.
- 9:50SPEAKER_05: That Elvish, he was quite quite the entertainer, but but I digress.
- 9:54SPEAKER_05: So a secret language for fashion, that is so interesting, Jeff.
- 9:58SPEAKER_05: Maybe that's why we're not big fashion people because we don't speak this language, and maybe that's it.
- 10:03SPEAKER_04: Could be.
- 10:03SPEAKER_04: Uh, and then again, putting my 60-minute cap on.
- 10:06SPEAKER_04: Ah ooh, fish, fish, niche, niche.
- 10:11SPEAKER_04: How do you decide how to use that?
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: Because you hear people say niche, some people say niche.
- 10:17SPEAKER_05: And I always feel like I heard you say niche, it's just I don't know, you know.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: I think it all depends on the season, but what's most important is that every season you throw that one away and you use the completely new one.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: So if you say niche because niche is in, then you gotta change it to niche.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: And then niche will come back, but you've already thrown it away, so you gotta get a new one.
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: I'm taking notes here.
- 10:44SPEAKER_04: This is fascinating.
- 10:46SPEAKER_04: This might be at an intellectual level that we've never reached before.
- 10:50SPEAKER_05: I don't think we have it.
- 10:51SPEAKER_05: And just hearing Chris Anthem say that, I'm realizing that the last time I used that word, I can't remember which one I said.
- 10:58SPEAKER_05: So I don't know what to switch to.
- 10:59SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 11:00SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: You're welcome.
- 11:02SPEAKER_05: This is such great information.
- 11:03SPEAKER_05: This is gonna make a difference, Jeff.
- 11:05SPEAKER_05: We're probably gonna dress better as a result of this.
- 11:08SPEAKER_05: We're probably gonna get a lot of different.
- 11:08SPEAKER_05: Well, God knows I use the help.
- 11:10SPEAKER_05: A higher level of listener if we do listen to this, right?
- 11:13SPEAKER_05: If we pay attention to this.
- 11:15SPEAKER_05: That is great.
- 11:15SPEAKER_05: So, Chris Anthony, what do you dispense your fashion influence primarily through Instagram, or do you have other methods as well?
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: I use pretty much whatever is the most trendy of the social medias because I'm just such a trendy person.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: That's why I've got those 200 plus followers.
- 11:36SPEAKER_05: You know, I've heard some of those Instagram influencers can really make some some pretty good money.
- 11:42SPEAKER_05: Have you seen the money really come in from this?
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: I I do it for the love of fashion.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: And and that that's why um it's not that Instagram doesn't want to pay me.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: They've offered like so many times, and I've always been like, no, so that's why I'm not making any money.
- 12:02SPEAKER_04: I think that's sort of the source of the brilliant, everything that is successful by successful people probably is based on their love as opposed to you know, other things.
- 12:14SPEAKER_04: Like, for example, Steve, you and I love money.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: So yeah, you know, we're doing this for the love of money.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: So that alone helps us strive to be great.
- 12:26SPEAKER_05: See, but Jeff, I was just thinking when she said that, I was thinking that that's for because you know, yes, we're doing this for the love of money, but money is playing very hard to get.
- 12:35SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 12:36SPEAKER_05: It is, and so we're kind of really we're kind of like chrysanthemum, we're kind of doing it for the love of doing it with the idea that the money's gonna come, and maybe money thinks we're not sincere.
- 12:50SPEAKER_04: Well, and and I think doing it for the love of doing it that describes us perfectly, Steve.
- 12:56SPEAKER_05: And we are being paid at that level, yes, absolutely.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: Yes, you're welcome again.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: It's like I always say, All you need is love.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: I said that.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: That's my quote.
- 13:09SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 13:10SPEAKER_05: I've heard that so many places.
- 13:12SPEAKER_05: I saw a billboard one time.
- 13:13SPEAKER_05: Boy, they should pay you for that billboard.
- 13:16SPEAKER_05: They really show you.
- 13:17SPEAKER_05: I saw a big billboard.
- 13:18SPEAKER_05: I was I was driving, maybe it was in Wybor City, I can't remember, but it said, All you need is love.
- 13:23SPEAKER_05: And it had a picture of, I don't know, somebody.
- 13:25SPEAKER_05: I can't remember, but you know, it was you, it was somebody, it was some money involved in that.
- 13:30SPEAKER_05: They should pay you for that.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I make I make money from things from doing things um because I'm great.
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: And I mean, you know, it's okay though, if people want to use my very original quotes for inspiration because I am very inspirational.
- 13:53SPEAKER_04: You are I'm inspired.
- 13:55SPEAKER_04: I feel inspired already, Jeff.
- 13:56SPEAKER_04: And perspired at the same time.
- 13:59SPEAKER_05: Well, you know, Florida was it was pretty hot down there.
- 14:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I've I'm still kind of sweating, even though it's like freezing up here.
- 14:04SPEAKER_05: But Christanthum, we have so much more to talk about with fashion.
- 14:08SPEAKER_05: But Jeff, I gotta tell you, we have a repeat sponsor tonight.
- 14:12SPEAKER_04: Talk about rolling in the dough.
- 14:14SPEAKER_04: We are rolling in it.
- 14:16SPEAKER_05: Let me tell you.
- 14:16SPEAKER_05: It's are they paid?
- 14:18SPEAKER_05: Are they paying us?
- 14:19SPEAKER_05: It's it's the good people, well, you know, we'll find out, but we're gonna run it and then we'll find out.
- 14:24SPEAKER_05: It's the good people at Farmer Brute, good people on both sides of Farmer Brute, I guess, but it's the good people at Farmer Brute.
- 14:30SPEAKER_05: Jeff, we were talking the other couple shows ago about uh their placebox product, and they heard that show and they said, Wow, it's been a while since we ran that ad.
- 14:40SPEAKER_05: So they wanted to run it again.
- 14:41SPEAKER_05: So, so Jeff, listen, let's uh let's just go to commercial.
- 14:45SPEAKER_03: Finally, I can enjoy walks in the country again, thanks to Placebox.
- 14:51SPEAKER_05: Placebex, designed to make you feel better about any situation for any reason.
- 14:56SPEAKER_05: I used to hate the morning commute coming out here and getting stuck.
- 15:00SPEAKER_05: Now I love coming out here and just sitting.
- 15:02SPEAKER_05: It's so relaxing.
- 15:04SPEAKER_05: Placebex, designed to make you feel better about anything.
- 15:08SPEAKER_05: Placebex contains nothing that could be considered harmful.
- 15:12SPEAKER_05: In fact, Placebex contains nothing at all, other than cornstarch.
- 15:16SPEAKER_05: Placebex is designed to do absolutely nothing at all, while making you think that it is.
- 15:22SPEAKER_05: Any positive medical results are completely coincidental.
- 15:25SPEAKER_05: Frequent or prolonged use could result in stupor, boredom, ignorance of reality, anti-vaccine ideation, belief that life was better in the 10th century, addiction to television, appreciation of Rick Astley recordings, and death.
- 15:39SPEAKER_05: Do not use placebex if you are in a coma or expect to be.
- 15:42SPEAKER_05: Some patients have gained weight and lost brain cells in clinical studies, not to be used by those with cornstarch allergies or who live in southern New Jersey, may cause drowsiness or not, has been linked to certain political ideas, but the makers of placebex make no specific candidate endorsements other than those we have previously bought under the provisions of federal election law.
- 16:03SPEAKER_05: Do not use placebex if you are a methamphetamine user.
- 16:07SPEAKER_05: Just don't.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: Before placebox, I had pain all the time.
- 16:12SPEAKER_03: Now, I just have pain most of the time.
- 16:15SPEAKER_05: Placebox can be expensive, so ask your doctor about the placebox affordability program.
- 16:20SPEAKER_05: It might make your placebox prescription as low as$350 a week.
- 16:25SPEAKER_05: I used to be an old and bitter man.
- 16:28SPEAKER_05: I still am.
- 16:29SPEAKER_05: But now I'm good with that.
- 16:31SPEAKER_05: Thank you, placebo.
- 16:33SPEAKER_05: Ask your doctor if placebix is right for you.
- 16:36SPEAKER_05: Placebox, new from Pharma Brute.
- 16:39SPEAKER_05: It does nothing.
- 16:40SPEAKER_05: And sometimes nothing is exactly what you need.
- 16:55SPEAKER_05: You know, that is just such good nothing.
- 16:57SPEAKER_04: It justifies my life, I think.
- 17:00SPEAKER_04: You know?
- 17:01SPEAKER_04: Sometimes people they get insecure, but when I listen to that, it makes me realize I'm in a I'm in a good place.
- 17:06SPEAKER_05: Jeff, I know you're a big place user as well.
- 17:09SPEAKER_05: And uh do you think something like that that would make people feel better about whatever, you think that has a place in fashion influencing?
- 17:19SPEAKER_02: I think that if you are original enough, you could probably style an outfit with a placebox.
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: I could do it, it would look so good.
- 17:33SPEAKER_05: I would wear that because, you know, Jeff, we're we really are going after the love of money here, and I would wear that and I'd take a picture of it, and I'd send it to the good people and the and the other good people at Farmer Brute, and you know, maybe they'd pay us a little more.
- 17:46SPEAKER_05: Oh, but but I digress enough enough about our problems.
- 17:49SPEAKER_05: Chrysanthemum, where do you see fashion going?
- 17:52SPEAKER_05: Do you see it always being kind of a changing trend, or do you think there's going to be something that's permanent, like the the blue blazer or the you know the Oxford shoes?
- 18:02SPEAKER_05: Do you think something's really gonna come out that's gonna be lasting like that?
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: No, I think fashion, you know, some people think it's about style and artistic expression and creativity, and that it is an art form.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: But really, what's it all about is that the really important people tell you what to wear and then you just do that.
- 18:31SPEAKER_05: Ah, Jeff, I think that's been our problem.
- 18:34SPEAKER_05: Usually when people tell me what to wear, I well, I won't do it here in the studio because yeah, that engineer didn't like it, but I usually give them a gesture and just kind of don't do it, you know, you know.
- 18:45SPEAKER_04: Me too.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: Although, Steve, in all honesty, hearing it from Chrysanthium as opposed to anyone else, I'm just completely inspired by your presentation, your voice, your strength, your knowledge.
- 19:01SPEAKER_02: You're welcome.
- 19:02SPEAKER_04: Um, I do have one question though.
- 19:03SPEAKER_04: Uh again, I don't don't mean to get serious here, but Chrysanthium.
- 19:07SPEAKER_04: Is that short for something?
- 19:09SPEAKER_04: Is that uh your full name?
- 19:12SPEAKER_04: Is it like liberace, where it's only like one word, or you know, how does that work?
- 19:16SPEAKER_05: Chrysanthium, is it is she like Lithuanian or something?
- 19:19SPEAKER_05: I mean, no, it's chrysanthemum.
- 19:21SPEAKER_05: I think it's like the flower, right?
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: Oh, oh, yeah, like the flower.
- 19:27SPEAKER_02: It's actually short for chrysanthemum, petunia, lily, wildflower, magical, majestic fireweed.
- 19:36SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 19:37SPEAKER_05: And that just rolls off your tongue.
- 19:39SPEAKER_05: You know, you know, you must have some wild parents.
- 19:42SPEAKER_05: I may have known your parents way back in the day, I tell you.
- 19:45SPEAKER_05: But I digress.
- 19:46SPEAKER_05: But anyway, anyway, go ahead, Jeff.
- 19:47SPEAKER_05: Go ahead.
- 19:47SPEAKER_04: First of all, that's it's amazing because I actually know somebody by that name, Steve.
- 19:53SPEAKER_04: And that was one of the reasons I asked, because the odds are not great that you're gonna find somebody whose name is Chrysanthium, but here we do.
- 20:02SPEAKER_04: We found someone.
- 20:02SPEAKER_04: And we didn't, see?
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: It was close, it was very close, very close.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: From what I remember.
- 20:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, maybe hey, maybe she is Lithuanian.
- 20:09SPEAKER_05: Maybe she is Lithuanian, just changed your name, you know, like all those guys.
- 20:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we we talk about people change people change their names all the time.
- 20:15SPEAKER_05: We've talked about a lot of that.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: Right, but my nickname is pronounced chrysanthemum, or my full name isn't chrysanthemum wisteria, rosebud, not weed grass.
- 20:29SPEAKER_05: Rosebud, not weed.
- 20:30SPEAKER_04: So I'm mispronouncing the name nonstop here.
- 20:33SPEAKER_04: You do you get that?
- 20:34SPEAKER_04: Do you get stupid people sometimes who just can't quite grasp your name and probably not your fashion direction either?
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: Unfortunately.
- 20:44SPEAKER_04: Wow, and you're clearly a minimalist when it comes to the language, too.
- 20:48SPEAKER_04: You say one word and uh it's it kind of says it all, don't you think, Steve?
- 20:51SPEAKER_04: Her words do say it all.
- 20:53SPEAKER_05: I can see why she has all those followers, all those 200 followers.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: I just said, yes, that is correct.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: 200.
- 21:02unknown: Wow.
- 21:02SPEAKER_05: Well can I say, Steve?
- 21:04SPEAKER_05: 202?
- 21:05SPEAKER_05: She's gonna have 202 as soon as this show's over because I'm gonna get on Instagram and I'm gonna become one of them.
- 21:10SPEAKER_05: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 21:12SPEAKER_05: Wow, you know, uh not to focus on your name, but you know, Jeff kind of distracted me a little.
- 21:17SPEAKER_05: I started thinking, you know, with a name like that, what'd they call you in school?
- 21:20SPEAKER_05: What was your nickname in school?
- 21:21SPEAKER_05: Were you like mum?
- 21:23SPEAKER_05: Were you Lily?
- 21:24SPEAKER_05: Were you weed, not weed?
- 21:26SPEAKER_05: That was my nickname, Steve.
- 21:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they called they they called us weed a lot in school, but you know, it's mostly the teachers did that, but but I digress.
- 21:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: I prefer not to focus on the past, it distracts from the now.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: That is also a direct quote that I invented.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: I said that me.
- 21:47SPEAKER_05: Oh, Chris Anthony, that is so zen.
- 21:49SPEAKER_05: That is so good.
- 21:50SPEAKER_05: We had a motivational speaker on who didn't talk, but he he typed his answers because we didn't pay him and said, I only pay when I talk, right?
- 21:57SPEAKER_05: So he typed him, but he was dropping all these quotes.
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: You know, nationally known big shot.
- 22:01SPEAKER_05: He didn't have anything that deep.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: That's better than anything he said.
- 22:05SPEAKER_03: That's outstanding.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: That's amazing.
- 22:07SPEAKER_02: I said it.
- 22:07SPEAKER_02: I it was all me.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: It was a quote from myself and not from any other media.
- 22:15SPEAKER_05: I gotta ask, did you say that somewhere else or did you say that for the first time on this show?
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: First time.
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: No one's ever heard that before.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: Ever.
- 22:26SPEAKER_05: Jeff, we have an original quote from Chrysanthemum, an original quote on life that is so zen.
- 22:33SPEAKER_05: Oh, I see the money rolling in.
- 22:35SPEAKER_05: I see it happening, Jeff.
- 22:36SPEAKER_05: I mean, with quotes like this, how could it not?
- 22:39SPEAKER_05: How could it not?
- 22:40SPEAKER_04: I agree.
- 22:41SPEAKER_04: And you know, my goal in life is to just pronounce your name correctly before this podcast is over.
- 22:46SPEAKER_04: So it is Chrysanthemum.
- 22:50SPEAKER_04: Is that am I getting that right?
- 22:52SPEAKER_05: No, now she's like Lithuanian and German.
- 22:54SPEAKER_05: Come on, what do you mean?
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'll say it one more time.
- 22:59SPEAKER_04: Please do.
- 22:59SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna make notes.
- 23:10unknown: Okay.
- 23:10SPEAKER_05: Fire weed.
- 23:11SPEAKER_05: Fire and weed have always been two things I've been pretty close to, you know.
- 23:15SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 23:15SPEAKER_05: So yeah, I you know, I can I can kind of relate to that.
- 23:18SPEAKER_05: But uh but I didn't aggress.
- 23:20SPEAKER_05: Chrysanthemum, do you see your your fashion message, your fashion influence continuing?
- 23:26SPEAKER_05: You're young.
- 23:26SPEAKER_05: I mean, we're you know, we're we're a couple old guys, so yeah, everybody's young to us, but you know, you are young, literally.
- 23:32SPEAKER_05: I mean, you'd be young to most people.
- 23:33SPEAKER_05: So do you see that continuing as you as you continue in life?
- 23:37SPEAKER_05: Do you see that taking different forms and and kind of morphing into something else?
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes, absolutely.
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: I think it's only a matter of time before I take over the entire fashion industry.
- 23:52SPEAKER_05: I think so.
- 23:53SPEAKER_05: You know, all those famous designers, I mean, none of them have quotes like that.
- 23:57SPEAKER_05: Most of them just have quotes like mark it up.
- 24:00SPEAKER_05: I mean, hey, you know, what that's not motivational, or like, hey, drop the line.
- 24:05SPEAKER_05: Oh, you know, come on, what does that mean?
- 24:07SPEAKER_04: Or clean up on aisle seven.
- 24:08SPEAKER_05: Clean up on aisle seven.
- 24:09SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 24:10SPEAKER_04: What the hell does that mean?
- 24:11SPEAKER_04: You know, it doesn't help me.
- 24:13SPEAKER_02: Absolutely not.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: That's why I always say, make it work, people.
- 24:20SPEAKER_02: Again, that's all me.
- 24:22SPEAKER_02: That's me again.
- 24:24SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 24:25SPEAKER_04: And that's so fashion.
- 24:27SPEAKER_04: It is, and Steve, I don't know about you.
- 24:30SPEAKER_04: We've had what 25, 30 different people interviewed um on our podcast.
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: And you know, to be honest, most of them probably need your help for Santheum.
- 24:40SPEAKER_04: Some of them we didn't.
- 24:42SPEAKER_05: Well, you you know, you get you have high hopes.
- 24:44SPEAKER_05: Am I getting close?
- 24:45SPEAKER_05: We got a few more minutes.
- 24:46SPEAKER_05: You might get there, you might get there.
- 24:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but some of them we didn't see, but I gotta tell you, I would agree with Jeff.
- 24:51SPEAKER_05: The ones we saw in person, well, except for my mom, I'm not gonna my mom has has her reasons, but the rest of them, oh my gosh, it's just not like they're not great dressers.
- 25:03SPEAKER_04: Well, and Steve, in the case of in the case of your mom, I I don't know how you can evaluate somebody's fashion opinions or style when they're not wearing clothes.
- 25:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know, I mean a 90-year-old woman who's pregnant.
- 25:14SPEAKER_05: I mean, come on, what do you I'm gonna let her do whatever she wants to do, okay?
- 25:18SPEAKER_05: You know, I'm not gonna really criticize that.
- 25:20SPEAKER_05: So I'm gonna put her out of this, but the rest of them, oh, the rest of them look terrible.
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: But see, that's your problem because you need to make it your business what everyone else is wearing.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: And if they're not wearing what they tell you to, then you need to call them out, and that's how you become an influencer.
- 25:40SPEAKER_05: You know, Jeff, maybe we should do that in the comedy podcast world.
- 25:46SPEAKER_05: You know, maybe that's what we're missing.
- 25:48SPEAKER_05: Maybe that's why we don't have as many followers as she does.
- 25:52SPEAKER_05: You know, maybe we need to call people out.
- 25:55SPEAKER_04: And I really like that term influencer, you know, like podcast influencer, yeah, marijuana influencer.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: You know, it just it just gives the impression of being an expert.
- 26:07SPEAKER_04: And Steve, maybe we need to add that to our vocabulary here.
- 26:11SPEAKER_05: It's kind of like the business equivalent of, you know, in restaurants they always say it's like infused, it's like fashion-infused rice, okay.
- 26:20SPEAKER_05: Or it's like, you know, wheat-infused grass, okay.
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, or a chrysanthemum influenced life.
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, infuse your life with chrysanthemum.
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: You're welcome.
- 26:34SPEAKER_05: Wow, Jeff.
- 26:35SPEAKER_05: She not only had another great quote, first time ever on this show.
- 26:39SPEAKER_05: I I'm got I gotta think, first time ever.
- 26:42SPEAKER_05: Not only another great quote, but she managed to use influencer and infused in the same sentence.
- 26:47SPEAKER_02: Same quote, Jeff.
- 26:48SPEAKER_02: Oh that that I mean, all my other original quotes were original quotes, but that one was the that um that was an original quote that I made uh just now.
- 26:59SPEAKER_02: Like just now.
- 27:01SPEAKER_05: Wow, on the spot.
- 27:02SPEAKER_05: I mean, she she could just she doesn't like to have to go off in the mountains and write these.
- 27:06SPEAKER_05: I mean, she just comes up with them just off the cuff.
- 27:09SPEAKER_05: That is great.
- 27:10SPEAKER_02: I I actually did that time.
- 27:12SPEAKER_02: I actually did that time, and and all the other times, like obviously, but especially that time.
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: Well, Steve.
- 27:19SPEAKER_04: I know we don't normally do this, but as soon as this podcast is over, I'm gonna go through the transcript of this podcast and just start making notes because some of the things that Chrysanthemum.
- 27:33SPEAKER_04: Oh beautiful okay, some of the things that she says was that okay?
- 27:39SPEAKER_02: That was the you said it right that time, actually.
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: Can I call you Chris?
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: No.
- 27:45SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay.
- 27:48SPEAKER_05: I I asked about mom yeah, no, yeah.
- 27:51SPEAKER_05: That's not good.
- 27:51SPEAKER_05: Don't do mom.
- 27:52SPEAKER_04: Okay, but anyways, yeah, so uh I need to go back and look at some of that stuff.
- 27:56SPEAKER_04: Steve, we've talked about merchandise for the show, and I think it'd be amazing to put some of these quilts on the back of shirts, coffee mugs, uh bumper stickers.
- 28:07SPEAKER_05: And and and Jeff, if we're talking about merchandise, we're talking about t-shirts.
- 28:12SPEAKER_05: Who better to design those t-shirts than a fashion influencer?
- 28:17SPEAKER_05: Oh my gosh.
- 28:18SPEAKER_05: And she could do she could do like minimalist t-shirts that aren't really there, and then we could sell them for a lot of money.
- 28:25SPEAKER_05: Oh gosh, Jeff, this is so good.
- 28:27SPEAKER_05: Have you done any fashion designing yourself as opposed to the influencing?
- 28:32SPEAKER_05: Have you created any clothing yourself?
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't think it would be that much harder because everyone knows that the hardest thing is to tell the uncomfortable truths.
- 28:46SPEAKER_05: So I could be a designer, I would be like so good at designing uh another great quote: the hardest thing is telling the uncomfortable truth.
- 28:59SPEAKER_05: I think you should be our fashion go-to, and you should be our fashion consultant as we develop this line of of merchandise.
- 29:10SPEAKER_05: And who knows?
- 29:11SPEAKER_05: We could have t-shirts, we could have baby bibs, we could have those little things to open jars, we we like you know, who knows?
- 29:17SPEAKER_05: We do all kinds of different things, but they have to be fashion perfect.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: Of course, if it's not perfect, it's not worth doing.
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: That's another quote.
- 29:27SPEAKER_02: I'm like so good at them.
- 29:28SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh.
- 29:30unknown: Gosh, yes.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: You're welcome.
- 29:32unknown: Yeah.
- 29:32SPEAKER_04: So can can we talk about some specific clothing?
- 29:36SPEAKER_04: So socks.
- 29:37SPEAKER_04: I'm big on socks.
- 29:39SPEAKER_04: Do you have an opinion on socks?
- 29:41SPEAKER_04: You know, what's in what kind of socks are are currently like trending?
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: I think that the sock is on its way out.
- 29:53SPEAKER_02: But maybe in a few months it'll make its way back in.
- 29:59SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 30:00SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 30:00SPEAKER_04: A prediction.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: It'll probably be vintage soon.
- 30:05SPEAKER_02: And then they'll be in fashion again.
- 30:09SPEAKER_05: I think what you're saying is the socks go on and then they go off.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: They go on and then they come off and then they go on again.
- 30:18unknown: Wow.
- 30:19SPEAKER_04: Until they come amazing again.
- 30:21SPEAKER_04: Your voice is hypnotic.
- 30:23SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 30:24SPEAKER_04: And you're so polite.
- 30:25SPEAKER_05: I I really like that.
- 30:27SPEAKER_02: So welcome.
- 30:28unknown: Wow.
- 30:29SPEAKER_05: Her voice, in fact, it's almost like placebox, because I feel better just listening to it.
- 30:35SPEAKER_05: I do too.
- 30:36SPEAKER_05: You know, this is better than a cigar roller, I'll tell you.
- 30:39SPEAKER_05: Well, they didn't want to come on the show anyway, but you know, and they didn't, you know, they said some things about like get out of my store.
- 30:47SPEAKER_05: I just put it aside, but I digress.
- 30:49SPEAKER_05: But this is so much better than that would have been, Jeff.
- 30:52SPEAKER_04: I can't well and and Steve, I don't know about you, but I just looked at the clock.
- 30:56SPEAKER_04: I thought we just started.
- 30:58SPEAKER_04: I am like in this trance, I'm in this state of mind.
- 31:03SPEAKER_04: Every word that comes out of chrysanthemum's mouth is uh look at you.
- 31:09SPEAKER_04: Just yeah, yeah.
- 31:10SPEAKER_04: Uh, you know, it's you know, it's the being the podcast professional, but I'm very impressed.
- 31:15SPEAKER_02: I should feel proud.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: Well, thank you.
- 31:17SPEAKER_05: I agree.
- 31:18SPEAKER_05: It's like we're we only got a couple minutes left.
- 31:20SPEAKER_05: We're about to get unfortunately kicked out of eccentric Lady Land Studios here, but chrysanthemum, this has been a wonderful time.
- 31:27SPEAKER_05: I would love to have you back on the show, and I'd love to have you work with us as we develop this line of clothing because Jeff, we could we could not only promote the show with the clothing, but we could be we could be influencers, Jeff.
- 31:39SPEAKER_04: Wouldn't that be cool?
- 31:40SPEAKER_04: It would be so cool.
- 31:41SPEAKER_04: And they say that the way you measure a successful career is by how you dress and what people think of you.
- 31:49SPEAKER_04: And and you know, Steve, I think that that's goes hand in hand with where we're headed.
- 31:53SPEAKER_05: Well, yeah, if that's true, I got problems, but but maybe she could help.
- 31:57SPEAKER_05: Maybe Chris Hansen could help.
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: You would it would be your honor to have me help you yourself one last time.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: You are so welcome.
- 32:09SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 32:10SPEAKER_05: I'll tell you, it's just it's just a an endless font of brilliance, an endless stream, and like a fountain of brilliance that just comes out these little in in like little sayings, little words.
- 32:22SPEAKER_05: Wow, that is so good.
- 32:24SPEAKER_05: Chris Anthem, listen, we really want to thank you.
- 32:26SPEAKER_05: Unfortunately, we're we're about to get kicked out here, but thanks again for coming on the show.
- 32:32SPEAKER_05: Right, Steve?
- 32:33SPEAKER_05: Hey, you and Claire aren't the only ones who know how to break into the show.
- 32:37SPEAKER_05: While stuck in the basement of Eccentric Lady Land Studios, Steve and Jeff play the home version of the Steve and Jeff Show and enjoy healthy yet hallucinogenic snacks, courtesy of the good people, should there be any, at FTCM, makers of golden retrieval.
- 32:50SPEAKER_05: It's not snake oil when it's actually a snake.
- 32:53SPEAKER_05: Steve and Jeff hope to be back in the real studio soon.
- 32:56SPEAKER_05: For me, I'll jump into the show from wherever we are.
- 32:59SPEAKER_05: Be sure and subscribe to or follow the Steve and Jeff Show wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 33:04SPEAKER_05: This is not Johnny Olson, but what a great name for an announcer.
