• 2:40
Speaker 5: week's Adopt Me Please Pet.
• 2:41
Speaker 3: Of the Week. Angie, good morning, welcome to the show.
• 2:44
Speaker 3: Good morning, thank you for being here.
• 2:47
Speaker 5: As always, our pets picture posted on my social media
• 2:50
Speaker 5: Dave Island Radio and Facebook are at Dave seventy one X.
• 2:54
Speaker 5: Tell us all about Norma.
• 2:57
Speaker 6: H So, Norma has been with us for a couple months.
• 3:00
Speaker 6: She originally came in as astray, but she's what I
• 3:04
Speaker 6: call a golden ticket dog. She's young, she's good with kids,
• 3:08
Speaker 6: she's good with other dogs, and she's good with cats.
• 3:10
Speaker 6: So she's perfect for pretty much any home.
• 3:14
Speaker 5: And when you sent me that text last night, you
• 3:16
Speaker 5: referred to her as a golden ticket dog. I didn't
• 3:18
Speaker 5: know exactly what that. So you just mean that she's
• 3:19
Speaker 5: like the perfect. I mean no, no animal or no
• 3:21
Speaker 5: human for that matter of perfect, but it's pretty close
• 3:24
Speaker 5: to perfect as you can get, right, that's correct.
• 3:28
Speaker 6: That means that pretty much anyone could come up there
• 3:30
Speaker 6: and she's probably gonna work in your household.
• 3:32
  Speaker 3: Well, she's a beautiful dog.
• 3:34
Speaker 5: And I was showing her picture to Kim and Sophia
• 3:37
Speaker 5: Weigel that are my next guest. I was showing them
• 3:40
Speaker 5: the picture in the green room this morning. And last
• 3:42
Speaker 5: year we almost got to Sophia talked in to taking
• 3:47
Speaker 5: home whatever pet that we had on last year at
• 3:49
Speaker 5: this time. So maybe we'll try again this year with this.
• 3:51
Speaker 5: And because she loved the picture when I showed her,
• 3:54
  Speaker 5: I hope.
• 3:54
Speaker 6: So, I mean we're like car salesman at the shelter,
• 3:56
Speaker 6: so we could probably talk her into it.
• 4:00
Speaker 5: Let's talk about numbers, and your numbers I guess have
• 4:03
Speaker 5: gone up because we keep and I noticed in your
• 4:05
Speaker 5: social media you had another case of some small dogs
• 4:08
Speaker 5: and puppies being abandoned. Looks like some people in the
• 4:11
Speaker 5: community stepped up, But we need more people to step
• 4:13
  Speaker 5: up right, more.
• 4:15
Speaker 6: And more and more. It seems like no matter how
• 4:19
Speaker 6: many we get out of our building and create wig
• 4:21
Speaker 6: or implore, there's double that that comes back in.
• 4:24
Speaker 5: So it was a situation with these that were that
• 4:27
Speaker 5: were just discovered. I mean this new batch, if you will.
• 4:31
Speaker 6: So our friends yesterday came in because they were abandoned
• 4:34
Speaker 6: in a home and they had been by themselves for
• 4:37
Speaker 6: about a week. So our humane officer Laura that you
• 4:40
Speaker 6: saw on Facebook, she went into the home, braved the
• 4:46
Speaker 6: very disgusting conditions of that home and got them out
• 4:50
Speaker 6: of there. So everybody is back with us. They're all
• 4:53
Speaker 6: available for an option. They are the cutest little dogs
• 4:56
Speaker 6: I have ever seen.
• 4:58
Speaker 5: And she how did you find out about those dogs?
• 5:00
Speaker 5: Did like a neighbor call? I mean, how did you
• 5:02
Speaker 5: find out that they were there?
• 5:04
Speaker 6: A landlord actually called on behalf of the dogs. She
• 5:07
Speaker 6: actually owned the home, and she, you know, was willing
• 5:10
Speaker 6: to cut her losses with the home, but she definitely
• 5:13
Speaker 6: wanted to get the dog's help.
• 5:14
Speaker 5: I mean, look, I know, and I'm not gonna play
• 5:17
Speaker 5: philosopher or psychologists and try to get into people's minds.
• 5:20
Speaker 3: But how do you do that?
• 5:23
Speaker 5: I mean, how do and you know, if those people
• 5:25
Speaker 5: are listening, sorry screw you. Uh well, I mean how
• 5:29
Speaker 5: do you how do you just go off and leave
• 5:31
Speaker 5: helpless animals like that?
• 5:33
Speaker 6: That's that's the million dollar question, I guess because those
• 5:37
Speaker 6: dogs are very sweet, they are very loving, and like
• 5:41
Speaker 6: I said, they're all super tiny and cute. We even
• 5:43
Speaker 6: got some puppies that are about two months old from
• 5:46
Speaker 6: that situation. So I don't know how something so new
• 5:50
Speaker 6: can be sailed so early in life. But that is
• 5:53
Speaker 6: a million dollar questions.
• 5:55
Speaker 5: But Dave Allan Chowing five Adyline brought to you a
• 5:57
Speaker 5: part by snap Fitness, offering a wide array of professional
• 5:59
Speaker 5: wellnes services, including customized personal training, licensed recovery experts, and
• 6:04
Speaker 5: the staff of dietitians. Five convenient locations Charleston, Hurricane, Winfield, Barbersville,
• 6:08
Speaker 5: and Milton visits snap Fitness dot Comference Tales have a
• 6:11
Speaker 5: text here for you, Miss Angie, and it said, did
• 6:14
Speaker 5: miss girl get adopted?
• 6:16
Speaker 3: I'm not familiar with miss girl? Do you know who
• 6:17
  Speaker 3: miss Girl is.
• 6:19
Speaker 6: Miss Girl we did on the radio a couple of
• 6:22
Speaker 6: weeks ago. She was the tortoise shell cat and.
• 6:26
Speaker 3: I didn't remember the name, so miss Girl got adopted.
• 6:29
Speaker 6: She did indeed, cast usually fly out of our shelter,
• 6:33
Speaker 6: and she was one of them. As soon as I
• 6:35
Speaker 6: did her on the radio, she got adopted the very next.
• 6:38
Speaker 5: Well that's good and we like that success. So what
• 6:40
Speaker 5: about last week's animal?
• 6:41
Speaker 3: Did did we have? Did we get last week's adopted?
• 6:43
Speaker 3: We had a dog last week.
• 6:45
Speaker 6: The dog last week was Barry and he is unfortunately
• 6:48
  Speaker 6: still there.
• 6:49
Speaker 5: All right, So if you liked the description the picture
• 6:51
Speaker 5: of Barry last week, Barry's still there.
• 6:53
  Speaker 7: Uh.
• 6:53
Speaker 5: You got an event going on with the Clay Center,
• 6:56
Speaker 5: Angie adopted dog, and you could be a winner of
• 6:59
Speaker 5: some tickets to see the Psychology of Dogs at the
• 7:01
  Speaker 5: Clay Center.
• 7:02
  Speaker 3: Talk about that.
• 7:04
Speaker 6: That is true, So please come in and adopt something.
• 7:07
Speaker 6: Win quick. But if you adopt something, you can win
• 7:10
Speaker 6: tickets to the show Psychology of the Dog. And it's
• 7:13
Speaker 6: basically a show that just breaks down to what goes
• 7:16
Speaker 6: on in front of our pets heads. But you could
• 7:20
Speaker 6: win tickets to that if you adopt from us.
• 7:22
Speaker 5: Yeah, and you got a lot of a lot of
• 7:24
Speaker 5: animals up there. Give us an approximate number. I know,
• 7:27
Speaker 5: we talked about it to begin so a bit approximately.
• 7:29
Speaker 5: How many dogs do you have now?
• 7:31
  Speaker 6: Yesterday?
• 7:32
Speaker 3: A lot of animals up there? Give us an approximate number.
• 7:35
  Speaker 3: I don't know.
• 7:35
Speaker 5: We talked about it to begin so a bit approximately.
• 7:37
Speaker 5: How many dogs do you have now?
• 7:39
Speaker 6: Yesterday? When I left? This is dogs and cats combined.
• 7:43
Speaker 6: But and this is also anything that's out in foster
• 7:46
Speaker 6: right now or anything that's in the building. Yesterday, with
• 7:49
Speaker 6: both combined, we had about three hundred and eighty some
• 7:54
Speaker 6: so I'm sure those numbers are going to rise and
• 7:56
Speaker 6: fall a little bit throughout the day as well.
• 7:58
Speaker 5: Yeah, about three hundred, that's and that's about how many
• 8:01
  Speaker 5: too many?
• 8:02
Speaker 6: Uh Yeah, that's a little that's probably close to about
• 8:05
Speaker 6: one hundred over what we can actually pay.
• 8:07
Speaker 5: All right, Well, we got another question here for you.
• 8:09
Speaker 5: What about Dexter the cat? Do we still have Dexter
• 8:12
  Speaker 5: the cat?
• 8:13
Speaker 6: Dexter also got adopted thankfully, all of my Cocit house
• 8:18
Speaker 6: babies because I'm in charge of getting them to TechCo.
• 8:20
Speaker 6: They have all been adopted recently, and I can not
• 8:23
Speaker 6: be more happy for them.
• 8:24
Speaker 5: Was that one of the ones that was residing in
• 8:26
Speaker 5: what did you call it the pet pet coat condos or.
• 8:29
Speaker 3: Whatever, the pet couse pet Co pen house.
• 8:32
Speaker 5: I'm sorry, So how does that work? I mean, how
• 8:35
Speaker 5: do you I'm just kind of curious and big shout
• 8:38
Speaker 5: out to the folks of Petco for allowing that, But
• 8:40
Speaker 5: how does that work? How do you decide what animals
• 8:42
Speaker 5: that you that you can take out there? And I'm
• 8:44
Speaker 5: presuming it's primarily cats, right, Yeah.
• 8:47
Speaker 6: So we only have the housing for cats there, but
• 8:51
Speaker 6: they just have to be nice, that's really it. I'm
• 8:54
Speaker 6: not going to take a feral cat up there for
• 8:56
Speaker 6: somebody to get scratched. But as long as the cats
• 8:59
Speaker 6: are ice and then pretty good. Hell, they also have
• 9:02
Speaker 6: to be stade and neutered already and you know, up
• 9:04
Speaker 6: to date on all vaccines. But besides that, if they
• 9:07
Speaker 6: meet all those bars, I can set up to four
• 9:10
Speaker 6: cats there at a time, and it's usually my favorite.
• 9:12
Speaker 6: One's not gonna lie that get to come up there.
• 9:15
Speaker 3: It's your it's you, it's your pets, so to speak.
• 9:18
Speaker 6: Yeah, my pets away from Holt.
• 9:20
Speaker 5: I got you all right before we let you go.
• 9:22
Speaker 5: Tuxes and Tails is coming up at the Roughner in May.
• 9:26
  Speaker 3: Talk about that.
• 9:27
Speaker 6: Tuxes and Tails is coming up. It's our premiere fundraising event,
• 9:30
Speaker 6: the biggest fundraising event uh this year. We're doing a
• 9:34
Speaker 6: Kentucky Derby scene, so you know, come in your floral pastels,
• 9:38
Speaker 6: big hats. We want to see it all. But you
• 9:41
Speaker 6: get to drink, you get to watch the Kentucky Derby,
• 9:43
Speaker 6: you get to partake in the silent auction. There's going
• 9:46
  Speaker 6: to be live music by d J e J. And
• 9:48
Speaker 6: there will also be puppies there for you to love.
• 9:50
Speaker 5: What and this is your annual this is your big
• 9:53

• 10:31
Speaker 5: yesterday and it's going to be a big old party

Speaker 5: over there at the ballpark. I did think it, and
• 10:35
Speaker 5: I heard Chris and Jeff talking about this this morning.
• 10:37
Speaker 5: I did think it was interesting. When I asked Jill yesterday,
• 10:40
Speaker 5: I said, are you going to allow the celebrity portion
• 10:43
Speaker 5: like you did last year with members of the media,
• 10:46
Speaker 5: And Jill's words, Well, that didn't work out too well.
• 10:49
Speaker 5: Most of the real the folks in the media couldn't
• 10:52
Speaker 5: get the ball out of the infield if they connected
• 10:54
  Speaker 5: at all.
• 10:55
  Speaker 2: So no media.
• 10:57
Speaker 5: Darlings this year in that but the actual Dirty Birds
• 11:01
Speaker 5: players will be there and again it's going on tomorrow

• 11:07
Speaker 5: their social media and at Dirtybirds Baseball dot com.
• 11:09
  Speaker 3: Let's review.
• 11:10
Speaker 5: Norma is our dog two years old, currently living with
• 11:15
Speaker 5: her foster. Great with kids, great with other calm dogs
• 11:20
Speaker 5: and cats. Angie refers to Norma as the golden ticket.
• 11:25
Speaker 3: It is she is an.
• 11:26
Speaker 5: Absolutely beautiful, beautiful dog. And I mean zero red flags
• 11:31

  Speaker 5: I mean I can't. And this is the I say
• 14:42
Speaker 5: every week, this is the perfect pet. This is the
• 14:44
  Speaker 5: perfect pet.
• 14:45
Speaker 3: You need to go and get Norma.
• 14:48
Speaker 5: We'll tell you about it every year. The Tunnel to
• 14:50
Speaker 5: Towers five k run of Walking Ripley coming up May tenth.
• 14:52
Speaker 5: Kim and Sophia Weigel with us right now. Good morning, ladies,
• 14:55
Speaker 5: welcome to the show.
• 14:56
Speaker 11: Good morning, Thank you for having us.
• 14:57
Speaker 5: I saw your eyes kind of going around there when
• 15:01
Speaker 5: we were talking about Norma.
• 15:02
Speaker 11: Uh huh oh yeah. Listen. If I could adopt it
• 15:05
Speaker 11: all the animals in the world, I would.
• 15:06
Speaker 5: I remember last year when you sat in this well
• 15:09
Speaker 5: it was in the studio, but it didn't quite look
• 15:11
Speaker 5: like this, and we almost had you and Mama talked
• 15:14
Speaker 5: in to get in that pat lesture.
• 15:16
Speaker 3: This is the year.
• 15:17
Speaker 11: Listen. If I could, I would.
• 15:18
Speaker 12: But I have three dogs in the cat and I
• 15:20
Speaker 12: think my parents would kill me if I brought another.
• 15:22
Speaker 5: This dog, though, Sophia, this dog gets along with with kids,
• 15:27
Speaker 5: with cats and with other dogs.
• 15:29
Speaker 11: Listen, you don't have to convince me. I take her
• 15:31
Speaker 11: at a heartbeat. You gotta talk to her.
• 15:33
Speaker 5: Mama, who said it beside you. I felt like an
• 15:35
Speaker 5: old time preacher in the churches. I grew up with,
• 15:37
Speaker 5: you know, going as the crowd, as as the choir sings,
• 15:40
Speaker 5: just as I am. Nobody looking make that step, Oh
• 15:42
  Speaker 5: wait that step?
• 15:43
Speaker 12: Listen, Hey, if we can work something out on sneaker
• 15:45
Speaker 12: home but not happening.
• 15:47
Speaker 3: Mom says it's not How are you, Mom?
• 15:49
Speaker 7: I'm wonderful? Thank you?
• 15:50
  Speaker 6: All right?
• 15:50
Speaker 5: For those that don't know, explain what this event is.
• 15:53
Speaker 5: Either one of you, both mics are hot, so you
• 15:55
Speaker 5: do you tell me what this event is, Sophia, go ahead,
• 15:57
Speaker 5: and you've been you've been involved with this for.
• 15:59
Speaker 11: A while, right, Yes, this is our fourth year that
• 16:01
Speaker 11: we've been doing this.
• 16:02
Speaker 3: You've been on the show every year talking about it.
• 16:04
Speaker 11: Yeah, oh yeah, four years going so talk about okay, awesome.
• 16:07
Speaker 12: So the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, for those of you
• 16:09
Speaker 12: who don't know, it, is to honor first responders and
• 16:12
Speaker 12: military members and then to also remember nine to eleven.
• 16:15
Speaker 12: So it was started after nine to eleven had happened
• 16:18
Speaker 12: that a firefighter named Steven Siller got off of his
• 16:21
Speaker 12: shift and he heard what was happening. So he ran
• 16:23
Speaker 12: through the Brooklyn Battery tunnel and he ultimately died at
• 16:26
Speaker 12: the Towers, and so he left behind his wife and
• 16:28
Speaker 12: five young children, which is a very big heavy burden.
• 16:32
Speaker 12: Not only are you grieving, but you're also trying to
• 16:34
Speaker 12: figure out how you're going to take care of five kids,
• 16:36
Speaker 12: you know, so that's a lot to process. And so
• 16:38
Speaker 12: their family started this help first responders and military members
• 16:41
Speaker 12: who are going through the same thing that if they
• 16:43
Speaker 12: would pass away and leave behind a spouse and young children,
• 16:46
Speaker 12: they will pay off their mortgage, and if they're catastrophically injured,
• 16:49
Speaker 12: they will build them a smart home adapted to their needs,
• 16:51
Speaker 12: which is, you know, truly amazing because they do so
• 16:53
Speaker 12: much for us that, you know, we should be able
• 16:55
Speaker 12: to help them at least live independently and give them,
• 16:57
Speaker 12: you know, a little bit of their pride back with that.
• 17:00
Speaker 12: But our run actually raises money for that. We are that,
• 17:03
Speaker 12: Like we said, this is our fourth year. It's going
• 17:05
Speaker 12: to be May tenth at ten am. And then something
• 17:08
Speaker 12: new that the foundation is doing is they're trying to
• 17:11
Speaker 12: eradicate better and homelessness. So they're building centers all across
• 17:14
Speaker 12: the country and also working in our communities to give
• 17:17
Speaker 12: them either small homes or even centers that will help
• 17:21
Speaker 12: them with PTSD support and also give them trade skills
• 17:24
Speaker 12: so that if they would not only just have to
• 17:26
Speaker 12: be dependent upon the foundation, but we want them to
• 17:28
Speaker 12: be able to come here, maybe learn how to a
• 17:31
Speaker 12: trade skill or something, and then go back out into
• 17:32
Speaker 12: our communities and be able to take care of theirselves.
• 17:35
Speaker 11: So you know, it's a truly it's an amazing foundation
• 17:37
Speaker 11: all that they do.
• 17:38
Speaker 5: So what was it about this? And you said, you
• 17:41
Speaker 5: guys have been doing this for four years? What was
• 17:43
Speaker 5: it about this that interested you to begin with? And Kim,
• 17:46
Speaker 5: you can jump in here if you want as well?
• 17:48
Speaker 5: Is there I mean? And so she's perfectly happy to
• 17:51
  Speaker 5: let you.
• 17:52
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yes, she's perfectly happy like you.
• 17:54
Speaker 5: Talk, because she's planning how you're going to make room
• 17:56
Speaker 5: in your home for Norma. There you go, that's what
• 17:58
  Speaker 5: that's what she's doing time.
• 18:00
Speaker 7: In here, if I think, is thatthing you're doing it?
• 18:02
  Speaker 3: Yeah, she's got paper, she's.
• 18:03
Speaker 5: Got paper and pencil over here, like riding out how
• 18:05
Speaker 5: I do all this one? When you adopt the dog?
• 18:08
Speaker 5: So why was this so important? Because you're obviously you know,
• 18:12
Speaker 5: you were a kid practically when you came in here,
• 18:14
Speaker 5: you're you're an adult and how old are you now?
• 18:16
Speaker 11: I'm eighteen, you're eighteen years old.
• 18:17
Speaker 5: Okay, what was it a few years ago that made
• 18:20
Speaker 5: that kid say this is something I want to do.
• 18:24
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 18:24
Speaker 12: So I was actually thirteen at the time, and my
• 18:27
Speaker 12: brother was going to Basic training, so he was going
• 18:29
Speaker 12: into the military, and you know, you think about a
• 18:32
Speaker 12: thirteen year old, I was thinking of all the worst
• 18:34
Speaker 12: things that could happen, and you know, it made me anxious.
• 18:36
Speaker 12: I love my brothers, you know, we all love our
• 18:38
Speaker 12: family members, and I wanted him to be safe and
• 18:40
Speaker 12: I wanted him to be taken care of, and so
• 18:43
Speaker 12: I actually, while he was at Basic training, that's when
• 18:45
Speaker 12: I started to notice the commercials for the foundation, and
• 18:48
Speaker 12: it was for their catastrophically Injured programs and to see
• 18:52
Speaker 12: those it was mainly military members that were had maybe
• 18:56
Speaker 12: lost limbs or something, and they were telling their stories
• 18:59
Speaker 12: and just see that I could see, you know, I
• 19:01
Speaker 12: love my brother so much, but these are people's fathers
• 19:04
Speaker 12: and you know, sons, brothers that could easily be my
• 19:06
Speaker 12: brother if he were deployed.
• 19:08
Speaker 11: And you know, they had this wait list. It was
• 19:10
Speaker 11: a couple of pages.
• 19:11
Speaker 12: And I saw that, and you know it really touched
• 19:14
Speaker 12: my heart that I wanted to be able to help
• 19:16
Speaker 12: them because they were willing to do so much for
• 19:18
Speaker 12: us that so I looked at my mom and I
• 19:20
Speaker 12: was like, well, you know, we can we do something
• 19:22
Speaker 12: to help and get involved.
• 19:24
  Speaker 11: And she said.
• 19:25
Speaker 12: That she wanted, you know, we could do eleven dollars
• 19:27
Speaker 12: a month, and I told her that I wanted to
• 19:29
Speaker 12: be able to do more than just eleven dollars a month,
• 19:31
Speaker 12: because obviously those smart homes are a whole lot of
• 19:35
  Speaker 12: money to make.
• 19:35
  Speaker 11: They're very expensive.
• 19:37
Speaker 12: Yeah, and so you know, I was eleven dollars a
• 19:40
Speaker 12: month is very helpful to the foundation, but I just
• 19:42
Speaker 12: I wanted to do something to be able to raise
• 19:43
Speaker 12: more money than that. And so we got in contact
• 19:46
Speaker 12: with the foundation and started the first five K here
• 19:49
Speaker 12: in Ripley and this is our fourth year.
• 19:50
Speaker 5: So and talk about how the community of Ripley, not
• 19:54
Speaker 5: just Ripley, but all the surrounding areas have really latched
• 19:58
  Speaker 5: onto this thing.
• 19:58
Speaker 12: Oh yeah, really, it's amaz how much support we have
• 20:01
Speaker 12: had in our communities. I will say, if you look
• 20:04
Speaker 12: at it, we've had I think about four different cities
• 20:07
  Speaker 12: right for roundabout.
• 20:09
Speaker 7: I'm not surrounding New Jersey.
• 20:11
Speaker 12: No, no, oh, you mean sponsorship. So we've had the city
• 20:17
Speaker 12: of Charleston sponsored last year.
• 20:21
Speaker 3: That's why she doesn't like to talk.
• 20:24
Speaker 11: But we've had the City of Charleston has sponsored, the
• 20:26
  Speaker 11: city of.
• 20:27
Speaker 13: Spencer, cities have sponsored. What does that, they've given money.
• 20:30
Speaker 13: So the cities have given money, They've given Charleston, Spencer, Ravenswood. Yeah,
• 20:36
Speaker 13: so we've had and truly, if you look at.
• 20:38
Speaker 12: Because this is a national run as well, so there
• 20:40
Speaker 12: are many across the state, we are one of the
• 20:43
Speaker 12: only ones that are able to get even you know,
• 20:45
Speaker 12: maybe the host city to sponsor, and for us to
• 20:47
Speaker 12: have four different cities that are willing to sponsor, it
• 20:50
Speaker 12: shows how much support we have in West Virginia.
• 20:53
Speaker 11: Truly is a state and that's the.
• 20:54
Speaker 12: Whole goal, because this is to help all of our
• 20:56
Speaker 12: first responders and military members. It's not just about Ripley,
• 20:59
Speaker 12: you know, it's for the entire state, in the entire country.
• 21:01
Speaker 12: So that's something that we'd love to see everyone get behind.
• 21:04
Speaker 12: But truly, the support and within our communities, our first responders,
• 21:07
Speaker 12: they have just jumped right in and helped. And I
• 21:09
Speaker 12: will shout out our squad that you know, it's not
• 21:12
Speaker 12: just me or my mom that we're doing this. It's
• 21:15
Speaker 12: a group effort and a team effort that you know,
• 21:18
Speaker 12: we wouldn't be able to do it without them. And
• 21:19
Speaker 12: also the Foundation is very helpful as well with all
• 21:21
Speaker 12: that they do. So I'm very grateful for the support
• 21:24
Speaker 12: of our communities and also the surrounding communities our state.
• 21:27
Speaker 5: So yeah, I mean, everybody kind of comes out for
• 21:29
Speaker 5: this thing in our stations are usually up there taking
• 21:31
Speaker 5: part in it one way or the other.
• 21:32
  Speaker 14: End.
• 21:32
Speaker 5: Yes, and again when you reached when you folks reached
• 21:36
Speaker 5: out to our folks about doing this. I love Ripley.
• 21:40
Speaker 5: I mean I really really do. I mean, on the
• 21:42
Speaker 5: Metro News midday show, we have a segment we call
• 21:44
Speaker 5: Mayor Monday, and every Monday I go around the state
• 21:47
Speaker 5: and I interview a different mayor. This past Monday, I
• 21:49
Speaker 5: had your mayor Carolyn Ray Okay there on the show
• 21:52
Speaker 5: with who I've known.
• 21:52
Speaker 3: For a number of years.
• 21:54
  Speaker 5: And she's a she's a firecrackers saving Oh yeah, we
• 21:57
Speaker 5: love her, we love her.
• 21:58
Speaker 11: She's actually she's on our squad as well.
• 22:00
Speaker 3: I have no doubt.
• 22:01
Speaker 11: Oh yeah no. But you know, just also something too,
• 22:04
Speaker 11: is that this is a.
• 22:05
Speaker 12: Family event, So we don't want people to see the
• 22:07
Speaker 12: five k and think that you have to be some
• 22:10
  Speaker 12: seasoned runner.
• 22:11
Speaker 11: You know, I'm not a runner.
• 22:12
Speaker 12: I would have never thought that i'd be a voluntary
• 22:14
Speaker 12: structor in my life. But it's truly it's about the
• 22:17
Speaker 12: cause and what we're raising money for. So even if
• 22:20
Speaker 12: you don't want to come out and run, you can
• 22:21
Speaker 12: come walk or even just come and enjoy the event
• 22:24
Speaker 12: we have. We start at ten am with an opening
• 22:26
Speaker 12: ceremony that honors nine to eleven in our first responders.
• 22:29
Speaker 12: So bring your kids out and help them to remember
• 22:32
Speaker 12: nine to eleven. We want to make sure that they
• 22:33
Speaker 12: don't want their animals out. You can bring them out.
• 22:35
Speaker 3: Norma is gonna love it, k she comes out with
• 22:38
  Speaker 3: you guys.
• 22:39
Speaker 12: Right, you will, but you know, bring your animals out,
• 22:42
Speaker 12: bring your kids. Make it a family event that you
• 22:44
Speaker 12: know you can get a little bit of exercise in
• 22:46
Speaker 12: while you're also teaching them to Number one, think our
• 22:49
Speaker 12: first responders and military members that you know you're passing
• 22:52
Speaker 12: that down to the younger generations, but also that they
• 22:54
Speaker 12: don't forget nine to eleven and what happened on that day.
• 22:57
Speaker 5: It's hard to believe it's been that long ago. I
• 22:59
Speaker 5: mean uh uh and and it's you know, and everybody
• 23:04
Speaker 5: and everybody that's got a little bit of age on
• 23:06
Speaker 5: them remembers where they were, you know, when nine to
• 23:08
Speaker 5: eleven happened. It's one of those Pearl Harbor Kennedy assassination
• 23:12
Speaker 5: kind of moments in our in our history unfortunately, where
• 23:15
Speaker 5: people always remember, you know, where they were. But now
• 23:18
Speaker 5: we're getting into a generation people you know, of your
• 23:21
Speaker 5: age obviously as well that that they don't remember a
• 23:25
Speaker 5: time before nine to eleven. And uh and and you've
• 23:28
Speaker 5: got to I think educate uh the younger people and
• 23:31
Speaker 5: sometimes you got to educate some older people too. You
• 23:33
Speaker 5: do about about the sacrifices that were giving up on
• 23:36
Speaker 5: nine to eleven with our first responders and.
• 23:38
Speaker 3: What they do on a daily basis that's not a
• 23:41
Speaker 3: nine to eleven event.
• 23:43
Speaker 5: I mean just the there's just just the sacrifice and
• 23:45
Speaker 5: and not only the sacrifice that those men and women give,
• 23:49
Speaker 5: but their families give as well. Because uh no, I've
• 23:52
Speaker 5: said this about our military officers and people like that.
• 23:55
Speaker 5: One person doesn't join the military when one person when
• 23:59
Speaker 5: when you when you join the police force, you become
• 24:02
Speaker 5: an EMT whatever whatever first responder, the whole family does.
• 24:05
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, and uh and they're a big part.
• 24:07
Speaker 3: Of it as well.
• 24:08
Speaker 11: Yeah, and that's why the foundation is.
• 24:09
Speaker 12: So you know, it's not just about the first responder,
• 24:12
Speaker 12: it's about the family that you know makes the sacrifice
• 24:15
Speaker 12: as well. Because you know, if you, like I said,
• 24:18
Speaker 12: with Steven Siller's wife, I mean that was not only
• 24:21
Speaker 12: did he make a sacrifice for his life, but that
• 24:23
Speaker 12: also you know she lost her husband and you know
• 24:26
Speaker 12: a support system for her children.
• 24:28
  Speaker 15: Yeah.
• 24:28
Speaker 12: Father, So they really that's why they really want to
• 24:31
Speaker 12: make it a family affair and you know, making it
• 24:34
Speaker 12: a family thing with the run, bring your families out.
• 24:36
Speaker 12: But it truly is there's so much to be thankful
• 24:38
Speaker 12: for that they do. They're willing to risk their life
• 24:40
Speaker 12: and they give up time, they miss holidays, they miss
• 24:43
Speaker 12: special events just to be there for us that if
• 24:45
Speaker 12: anything were to ever happen, they'd be there. So the
• 24:47
Speaker 12: least we could do is come out and you know,
• 24:50
Speaker 12: walk a little bit of a five k and thank
• 24:52
  Speaker 12: them for it.
• 24:53
Speaker 16: So and also I'll just add you to that comes
• 24:55
Speaker 16: to my heart and mine is the things that our
• 24:58
Speaker 16: first responders in military see things that we would never
• 25:02
Speaker 16: want to see. It would give us nightmares at night.
• 25:04
Speaker 16: I mean, I'm sure that they take this stuff.
• 25:05
  Speaker 7: Home with them.
• 25:06
Speaker 16: It's hard on them all that they do, and whether
• 25:11
Speaker 16: we would have somebody in our family that is involved
• 25:14
Speaker 16: in the military, but my dad was a Charleston firefighter. Regardless,
• 25:20
Speaker 16: they are there for all of us. They come to
• 25:22
Speaker 16: help us no matter who we are, and it's for
• 25:24
Speaker 16: everybody to come out and to be supportive of them.
• 25:26
Speaker 16: And also the foundation, the thing I love about it
• 25:28
Speaker 16: as well as ninety five cents on the dollar goes
• 25:31
Speaker 16: to the programs people asked, as the money come here,
• 25:34
Speaker 16: if it's needed, it will, But honestly, we hope that
• 25:37
Speaker 16: we never needed that would mean something horrible would happen,
• 25:40
Speaker 16: death or tragedy. But Corey Maynard, the state trooper that
• 25:45
Speaker 16: lost his life, the foundation did give them a mortgage
• 25:48
  Speaker 16: free home.
• 25:48
Speaker 7: They were at our event.
• 25:50
Speaker 5: Last year, especially the state from Mingo County that was
• 25:55
Speaker 5: killed in the line of duty, and so your group
• 25:59
Speaker 5: was able to help him.
• 26:00
Speaker 11: Yep, they paid off their sandwich.
• 26:01
Speaker 12: Yeah, they paid off their mortgage and his wife and
• 26:04
Speaker 12: children were able to be at our event last year,
• 26:06
Speaker 12: So you know, it has a community impact as well.
• 26:08
Speaker 12: But like mom said, we we never want the money
• 26:10
Speaker 12: here because that means somebody would have been injured or killed.
• 26:13
Speaker 11: But it's there if it's needed.
• 26:15
Speaker 5: So but Dave Valence showing five Vidieline brought to you
• 26:17
Speaker 5: part by Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
• 26:20
Speaker 3: Okay, give us the details.
• 26:22
Speaker 5: The times, and again, even if you're not you know
• 26:25
Speaker 5: one of these people that these maniacs that run things
• 26:29
Speaker 5: of that nature. A shout out to my man Steve
• 26:32
Speaker 5: Bishop from V one hundred. He usually runs in events
• 26:35
Speaker 5: like this. But even if you're not one of those people,
• 26:36
Speaker 5: if you can walk it, if you can just show up.
• 26:39
Speaker 12: Yeah. So it'll be May tenth at ten am. Our
• 26:42
Speaker 12: registration will start at eight thirty. So if you want
• 26:45
Speaker 12: to register a day of, you can. But we also
• 26:47
Speaker 12: have our website. It is run walk Ripley at T
• 26:52
Speaker 12: two t dot org and that is where you can register.
• 26:55
Speaker 12: We do prefer people register before the day of, but
• 26:58
Speaker 12: if you want to, hey, you can be spontaneous, come down.
• 27:00
Speaker 11: We'd be happy to have you.
• 27:01
Speaker 12: But also I will say, this is the last little
• 27:03
Speaker 12: thing we are raising money obviously, and we have raised
• 27:06
Speaker 12: twenty three thousand dollars already in this year. This year along, Yeah,
• 27:10
Speaker 12: this year we've raised twenty three thousand, and our goal
• 27:12
Speaker 12: this year is over twenty five thousand, because if we
• 27:15
Speaker 12: do that, we'll we will have reached over one hundred
• 27:17
Speaker 12: thousand dollars in the past four years. So if you
• 27:20
Speaker 12: want to even if you can't come out, if you're working,
• 27:22
Speaker 12: you can't be there, you just go to the website
• 27:25
Speaker 12: run walk Ripley at Tea two tea dot org and
• 27:28
Speaker 12: then you can just prestonate even just a couple of dollars.
• 27:30
Speaker 12: We'd appreciate any support we could get.
• 27:32
Speaker 5: It's not bad to raise over one hundred thousand dollars
• 27:34
Speaker 5: from a thirteen year old kid, which is where this started,
• 27:37
Speaker 5: and the support staff around.
• 27:38
Speaker 11: Yes, yeah, no, it's truly.
• 27:40
Speaker 12: I mean, like I said, to be able to look
• 27:42
Speaker 12: back and you know that I wanted to be able
• 27:43
Speaker 12: to raise money and with the support of everyone in
• 27:46
Speaker 12: the businesses in our communities, it's wonderful.
• 27:48
Speaker 7: Yeah, thank everyone so much.
• 27:50
Speaker 3: We're grateful, Kim, you must be proud of the kids.
• 27:53
Speaker 7: Very much, very thankful. Yes, lover bunches.
• 27:56
Speaker 5: All right, so what's what's a future look like for you.
• 27:59
Speaker 5: I know that you eighteen, so you're going to be
• 28:01
Speaker 5: heading off into the end of the world. I think
• 28:02
Speaker 5: you're already there, but yeah, what about you person, what
• 28:07
Speaker 5: are you gonna be doing?
• 28:08
  Speaker 11: Well?
• 28:08
Speaker 12: I opened up a dance studio, so I'm busy with that.
• 28:11
Speaker 12: I you know, I've always loved dancing and I was
• 28:13
Speaker 12: able to make a career for me. So I've opened
• 28:15
Speaker 12: up a masterpiece ballet. It's in Kenna where this is
• 28:19
Speaker 12: our first year. We opened in September, and you know,
• 28:22
Speaker 12: it's it's rewarding to be able to work with young
• 28:25
Speaker 12: girls and give them the passion that I have for
• 28:27
Speaker 12: dance and to be able to train them that. And
• 28:29
Speaker 12: I'm the West Virginia Association Affairs and Festivals Queens, so
• 28:32
Speaker 12: for the year I'll be traveling and I get to
• 28:33
Speaker 12: Regin over the state fairs. So that's going to be
• 28:35
Speaker 12: August seventh through the sixteenth, if anybody would want to
• 28:37
Speaker 12: come out to that. But very busy this next year,
• 28:40
  Speaker 12: but I'm excited.
• 28:41
  Speaker 7: For the future.
• 28:42
  Speaker 3: College.
• 28:44
  Speaker 11: Yeah, so I don't know.
• 28:45
Speaker 12: Right now, I'm focusing on my business and then maybe
• 28:47
Speaker 12: some business classes after that.
• 28:49
Speaker 11: But I'm trying to stay out of as much debt
• 28:50

Speaker 5: big stuff happening West Virginia International Yeager Airport as always,
• 32:30
Speaker 5: and actually they have some news about real id to
• 32:33
Speaker 5: share with you. Dominic Grenari is executive director of the airport.
• 32:36
Speaker 5: She joins us in Jerre Construction Studios this morning, Dominie,
• 32:39

• 32:44
Speaker 3: The Wygles like incredible people are what amazing?
• 32:48
Speaker 15: It was so nice to chat with them before they
• 32:49
Speaker 15: got on air. How inspiring.
• 32:51
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean really, that's why we were joking during
• 32:53
Speaker 5: the break. I said, you know, Sophia started this when
• 32:56
Speaker 5: she was thirteen thirteen, that this something that this big
• 33:00
Speaker 5: would probably not have been on my mind, and at
• 33:02
Speaker 5: eighteen it certainly wasn't on my mind.
• 33:04
Speaker 15: Now and to be a business owner already amazing, Yeah, amazing, indeed.
• 33:08
Speaker 5: All right, So we hear a lot in the news
• 33:11
Speaker 5: about real ID, So what is it?
• 33:15
Speaker 3: Who needs it? Give us all the details.
• 33:17
Speaker 15: Thank you. I appreciate the opportunity to talk about it
• 33:20
Speaker 15: because it is approaching very quickly. May seventh, so just
• 33:24
Speaker 15: next month, real ID goes into effect. And what it
• 33:27
Speaker 15: is is that enhanced ID that the state DMV has
• 33:31
Speaker 15: started offering. If you look at your ID right now
• 33:33
Speaker 15: and you pull it out of your wallet and you
• 33:35
Speaker 15: don't see that little star in the right hand corner,
• 33:38
Speaker 15: that means that you don't yet have a real ID,
• 33:41
Speaker 15: and that real ID is supported by additional identification documentation
• 33:46
Speaker 15: that you brought to the DMV with you the last
• 33:47
Speaker 15: time you went for your renewal. Now it is going
• 33:51
Speaker 15: to be required at the TSA checkpoint when you go
• 33:54
Speaker 15: to get on your commercial flight. So starting May seventh,
• 33:57
Speaker 15: if you don't have that real ID or your passport
• 34:00
Speaker 15: with you, you will first be subjected to additional screening or
• 34:05
Speaker 15: not be able to get onto your flight.
• 34:07
  Speaker 5: I mean it's a serious stuff here. I mean for
• 34:09
Speaker 5: people that have not taken it seriously, now is the
• 34:11
Speaker 5: time to do it. In May seventh is the deadline.
• 34:13
Speaker 5: So okay, I'm sitting here right now, And I don't
• 34:15
Speaker 5: have a real idea if I don't, so what do
• 34:18
Speaker 5: I need to do?
• 34:19
Speaker 15: Like right now, go to the DMV.
• 34:22
Speaker 3: You need to make an appointment. I mean, is that
• 34:23
  Speaker 3: still you can?
• 34:24
Speaker 15: You can make the appointment. Our DMVs here in the
• 34:27
Speaker 15: state of West Virginia are so wonderful, as.
• 34:29
Speaker 3: Shout out Everett Frasier.
• 34:31
Speaker 15: Yes, we are so lucky to have such a well
• 34:33
Speaker 15: oiled machine at the DMV. You don't hear the nightmare
• 34:36
Speaker 15: stories about going to the DMV that you hear from
• 34:39
Speaker 15: other states. So go ahead and go into the DMV,
• 34:41
Speaker 15: or contact your local DMV about getting in under an appointment,
• 34:45
Speaker 15: or if you have a passport, just make sure that
• 34:48
Speaker 15: you're bringing your passport with you to the airport, even
• 34:50
Speaker 15: if you're just flying domestically.
• 34:52
Speaker 3: And this has to be done at the DMV.
• 34:54
Speaker 5: This is not something because I know with a lot
• 34:56
Speaker 5: of DMV things or license renewal things, they've got kiosks
• 35:00
Speaker 5: and you can do things online.
• 35:01
Speaker 3: This has to be done in person.
• 35:02
Speaker 15: For the first time, yes, because they are verifying those
• 35:05
  Speaker 15: those additional documents.
• 35:06
Speaker 5: So what you probably need and you can go to
• 35:08
Speaker 5: any DMV right So, like if you live in Charleston,
• 35:11
Speaker 5: but they're you know you're going to be you want
• 35:13
Speaker 5: to go to Parkersburg. I'm just making things up. Now
• 35:16
Speaker 5: you can go to another DM. It doesn't have to
• 35:18
Speaker 5: be the one closest to you.
• 35:19
Speaker 3: Exactly exactly what's the whole idea behind this, So it is.
• 35:22
Speaker 15: Something that actually came out of nine to eleven. So
• 35:26
Speaker 15: this was an initiative to make sure that there's no
• 35:29
Speaker 15: chance that someone can show up with a document that
• 35:32
Speaker 15: isn't accurately reflecting who they are. This is enhanced security
• 35:37
Speaker 15: for our whole national airspace system to keep everyone safe.
• 35:41
Speaker 5: Talk with Dominic Grenara again from West Virginia International Yeager
• 35:44

Speaker 5: by going to Huston's Pizza dot com. And there's been
• 35:56
Speaker 5: I've read some online chatter. Imagine this if you will,
• 36:00
Speaker 5: interesting people not happy online. Imagine that that that this
• 36:04
Speaker 5: is going too far, that this is a money grab
• 36:07
Speaker 5: or whatever. Your response would be.
• 36:10
Speaker 15: It's to keep everyone safe. So we are always looking
• 36:15
Speaker 15: at ways to improve safety, especially in aviation. This is
• 36:19
Speaker 15: just one more step, and it has been something that
• 36:22
Speaker 15: has been delayed because they are very worried about what
• 36:25
Speaker 15: the effect will be on the traveling public if they're
• 36:28
Speaker 15: not prepared. But I will say here, I.
• 36:30
Speaker 5: Can just see you know, nightmares and just like long.
• 36:33
Speaker 5: I mean lines can already be long in some of
• 36:35
Speaker 5: the major airports anyway, and now you're going to add
• 36:37
Speaker 5: not you personally, but you're going to add this to that.
• 36:40
Speaker 5: I could just see where if people don't if people
• 36:43
Speaker 5: don't get this done, it could create a lot of headaches.
• 36:45
Speaker 15: Absolutely, we are preparing for some longer lines even at CRW,
• 36:49
Speaker 15: so we are working with our TSA officers to make
• 36:52
Speaker 15: sure that both lines are open so that if someone
• 36:56
Speaker 15: is dealing with not having the correct identification, those people
• 37:00
Speaker 15: aren't holding up the line for the TSA checkpoint for
• 37:04
Speaker 15: passengers who are ready to go. So we are already
• 37:06
Speaker 15: starting to make those plans to make things as smooth
• 37:09
Speaker 15: as possible, and the TSA agents are going to try
• 37:12
Speaker 15: to help you, especially with initial rollout. If you don't
• 37:16
Speaker 15: have that and you didn't realize you don't have the
• 37:18
Speaker 15: right ID to get on your flight. They have some
• 37:21
Speaker 15: options for some additional screening at first, but eventually that
• 37:25
Speaker 15: will be phased out as well.
• 37:26
Speaker 5: We had a text question here about the real ID,
• 37:30
Speaker 5: and I appreciate you coming into talking about this, and
• 37:32
Speaker 5: it has to do with the cost courts. But this
• 37:35
Speaker 5: person is texting in saying it violates the Tenth Amendment.
• 37:38
Speaker 3: I know you're not. Maybe you're an attorney.
• 37:40
Speaker 5: I don't know, but this has gone through the courts, right,
• 37:44
Speaker 5: I mean, this is this is this is this is
• 37:46
Speaker 5: constitutional in it has.
• 37:47
Speaker 15: And it came out of a lot of the acts
• 37:50
Speaker 15: and legislation after nine to eleven through the Department of
• 37:53
Speaker 15: Homeland Security. And if you are looking for additional information
• 37:57
Speaker 15: on real ID, you can go to DHS dot gov
• 38:01
Speaker 15: and look at all of the history and analysis of
• 38:04
Speaker 15: this program. I am a lawyer, but I do have
• 38:08
  Speaker 15: aut law anymore.
• 38:09
  Speaker 3: I didn't know you were an attorney. I just didn't.
• 38:13
Speaker 3: I didn't know that. But TEX says, if you have
• 38:15
Speaker 3: a passport, do you need a real ID?
• 38:17
Speaker 15: So you can use your passport in lieu of a
• 38:20
Speaker 15: state issued real ID.
• 38:22
Speaker 5: Okay, So it's either or kind of thing. But a
• 38:24
Speaker 5: lot of people may not have a passport. If they
• 38:26
Speaker 5: don't do a lot, if they don't do international travel,
• 38:27
Speaker 5: they may not have one.
• 38:28
Speaker 15: And you just can't forget. Like you're packing for your trip.
• 38:31
Speaker 15: It's a domestic trip, you might not think, oh, grab
• 38:34
Speaker 15: the passport. But even to fly domestically.
• 38:37
Speaker 5: If I'm getting on a flight from here to Atlanta,
• 38:40
Speaker 5: I need to have the real idy or a passport
• 38:43
Speaker 5: if I have one, either one. So you don't necessarily
• 38:45
Speaker 5: have to have a reality. You got to have one
• 38:46
Speaker 5: or the other. I'm hearing this correctly, all right? What
• 38:49
Speaker 5: else is going on up at the Jaeger? I mean,
• 38:51
  Speaker 5: and by the way, it's I'm sure it's been a
• 38:54
Speaker 5: lot for people to try because everybody's used to calling
• 38:56
Speaker 5: it the airport Yaeger, you know whatever. I'm really trying
• 39:00
Speaker 5: to work. I'm hoping doing Okay. Well, what's going on
• 39:02
Speaker 5: up at West Virginia International Yeager Airport?
• 39:04
Speaker 15: You're great, No, don't worry. There are many names for
• 39:07
Speaker 15: the airport. We answer to all of them. Some people
• 39:10
Speaker 15: still call it Kanal Airport, and I'm like, yes, that's
• 39:12
Speaker 15: us too, that's where we started. All you have to
• 39:15
Speaker 15: remember is CRW to book your ticket, so that's the
• 39:18
Speaker 15: important thing. We have a lot going on. So this
• 39:20
Speaker 15: week we held a TSA pre check pop up event,
• 39:23
Speaker 15: so if you haven't gotten TSA pre check yet, we
• 39:26
Speaker 15: made that available at the airport. It actually ends today,
• 39:29
Speaker 15: but we're accepting walkins until five pm. So if that's
• 39:33
Speaker 15: something you're interested in getting, you can come up to
• 39:35
Speaker 15: the airport in the baggage claim area and then we're
• 39:38
Speaker 15: very excited we're going to be hosting another Global Entry
• 39:42
Speaker 15: enrollment event that's May fifth through the eighth at the airport.
• 39:45
Speaker 15: It's hosted by the US Customs and Border Protection facility
• 39:49
Speaker 15: that we have at the airport. So enrollment actually begins
• 39:53
Speaker 15: on Saturday, April twentieth, but you can go to CPB
• 39:57
Speaker 15: dot gov right now and fill out the application and
• 40:00
Speaker 15: get conditionally approved, and then when our pop up event
• 40:03
Speaker 15: starts you can make your appointments. They're going to fill
• 40:06
Speaker 15: up really fast. We have people drive in from the
• 40:08
Speaker 15: surrounding states to do this final step, which is the interview.
• 40:12
Speaker 15: It's quick, it's easy once you've filled out everything online.
• 40:15
Speaker 15: And this is for our travelers that fly internationally a lot.
• 40:18
Speaker 15: It makes it much easier to come in and out
• 40:20
  Speaker 15: of the country.
• 40:21
Speaker 5: Let's talk about flights to various cities, because everybody wants
• 40:26
Speaker 5: to know what do you offer a flight here?
• 40:27
Speaker 3: Do you offer a flight?
• 40:28
Speaker 5: There's some goal away, some are added, What are you
• 40:32
Speaker 5: excited about as far as flights go these days?
• 40:34
Speaker 15: So we are very excited with what we have now
• 40:37
Speaker 15: and things that we're discussing for the future. So right
• 40:40
Speaker 15: now we have eight NonStop routes and growing, and that's
• 40:43
Speaker 15: because our traveling public is utilizing what we have. I
• 40:47
Speaker 15: go to conferences and I talk to other regional airport
• 40:50
Speaker 15: directors and they're like, oh my gosh, you guys have
• 40:53
Speaker 15: so much more air service than we do. And we're
• 40:55
Speaker 15: so thankful that our passengers are utilizing what we have
• 40:59
Speaker 15: so that we can get more. Just a couple of
• 41:01
Speaker 15: highlights for you. Myrtle Beach and Tampa flights with Breeze
• 41:04
Speaker 15: Airways return May first. Those are seasonal destinations on Breeze.
• 41:09
Speaker 15: Breeze is also flying to Newark, New Jersey right now
• 41:12
Speaker 15: on Sunday, Tuesdays and Thursdays, so that flight is going
• 41:16
Speaker 15: really well. Passengers are really liking it. We also have
• 41:20
Speaker 15: the Orlando flights Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and then of
• 41:24
Speaker 15: course we have our hub flights as well to Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte,
• 41:28
  Speaker 15: and DCA.
• 41:29
Speaker 3: And those are very popular. I mean, that's what you.
• 41:31
Speaker 3: People love those. Tex says.
• 41:33
Speaker 5: Does the use of a passport ever phase out and
• 41:36
Speaker 5: it will only be realizing?
• 41:37
Speaker 3: Do you see that at some point?
• 41:38
Speaker 15: No, I think your passport is always going to be
• 41:41
Speaker 15: a perfect document to bring that proves who you are.
• 41:45
  Speaker 3: It's it's been a long been around a long time.
• 41:47
Speaker 15: It has been around a very long time. Yeah, So Nope,
• 41:49
Speaker 15: that'll never phase out.
• 41:51
Speaker 3: What's what I mean? Can you tell us something?
• 41:53
Speaker 5: I mean, you told us a few that are in
• 41:55
Speaker 5: the future, but maybe on your wish list of where
• 41:58
Speaker 5: you'd like to go or do you want to go
• 41:59
  Speaker 5: into that.
• 41:59
Speaker 15: We have lots of wishless flights. We're constantly talking to
• 42:03
Speaker 15: the community, to our leisure travelers, to our business travelers.
• 42:07
Speaker 15: We track all of the data we can. There's a
• 42:10
Speaker 15: lot of data that comes through our tourism division with
• 42:13
Speaker 15: the state. We have desires to have longer, longer haul
• 42:19
Speaker 15: flights out West. We are working on Texas. We know
• 42:24
Speaker 15: that is a big demand for the business community in
• 42:27
Speaker 15: our state, and then of course as new leisure destinations
• 42:32
Speaker 15: pop up, we talk to our airlines about that. We
• 42:34
Speaker 15: meet with all of our airlines at least twice a year,
• 42:37
Speaker 15: so we go to them, we talk to them about
• 42:39
Speaker 15: what they see on their end. Everyone is very happy,
• 42:42
Speaker 15: especially Breeze. They're loving the West Virginia market and they're
• 42:46
Speaker 15: loving how our passengers in our community have welcomed them into.
• 42:50
  Speaker 3: Our market house.
• 42:51
Speaker 15: Hercules, Hercules is fantastic. I don't know if you saw.
• 42:55
Speaker 15: He got a new buddy. So we have another wildlife dog,
• 42:59
Speaker 15: Ned that isrently training.
• 43:00
Speaker 3: Under Hercules has got an intern.
• 43:02
Speaker 15: He's got an intern and they're great friends.
• 43:06
Speaker 5: Hercules is the is the official dog of the airport.
• 43:10
Speaker 5: Talk about Hercules and now Ned's duties.
• 43:12
Speaker 15: Yes, so Hercules is more than just our mascot. He's
• 43:15
  Speaker 15: actually he's work.
• 43:17
  Speaker 11: He is.
• 43:18
Speaker 15: He's a wildlife patrol animal is what his formal title is,
• 43:22
Speaker 15: and he helps us prevent any type of animal strikes
• 43:26
Speaker 15: at the airport and keeping all of our aircraft and
• 43:29
Speaker 15: our passengers safe. So just by being on property, it
• 43:33
Speaker 15: deters other animals from wanting to live on property, and
• 43:37
Speaker 15: it also scares off birds. But he is the sweetest.
• 43:41
Speaker 15: He would never ever touch or hurt a bird or
• 43:44
Speaker 15: an animal. He wouldn't know what to do with them,
• 43:46
Speaker 15: so he just did.
• 43:47
Speaker 3: He just like taps him on the should and says,
• 43:49
Speaker 3: you got to go.
• 43:50
Speaker 15: He just runs around and he wants to play with them,
• 43:52
Speaker 15: and they don't want to play with him.
• 43:54
Speaker 5: Let me give you a text here, and they used
• 43:56
Speaker 5: airport abbreviations and I'm not up on my airport abbreviation.
• 44:00
Speaker 5: Give me MSP DFW, I know what that one is, OK,
• 44:03
Speaker 5: or PHX Phoenix. I was gonna say that would be
• 44:07
Speaker 5: my guest would be Phoenix, Phoenix.
• 44:08
Speaker 15: So Minneapolis Saint Paul or DFW Detroit or Dallas Fort Worth.
• 44:15
Speaker 7: So those are all on.
• 44:16
Speaker 15: The list, on the list, on the list we they're
• 44:19
Speaker 15: on our wish lists that we share with the airlines
• 44:21
Speaker 15: all the time. But again, the more passengers that are
• 44:25
Speaker 15: utilizing the flights we have means the more flights will get.
• 44:29
Speaker 15: So anytime you think about driving to a different airport,
• 44:33
Speaker 15: check out our website. We have a cost calculator to
• 44:35
Speaker 15: show you that it's actually cheaper to fly from home.
• 44:38
Speaker 15: And the more that we utilize what we have, the
• 44:41
Speaker 15: more we'll be able to.
• 44:41
Speaker 5: Get give me a before we let you go, give
• 44:43
Speaker 5: me a quick sell job, because a lot of people
• 44:45
Speaker 5: will say, well, I would rather drive to Columbus and
• 44:48
Speaker 5: flat or what would rather ID have the Cincinnati or
• 44:50
Speaker 5: Pittsburgh or whatever what I mean. And sometimes maybe it
• 44:52
Speaker 5: does make more sense, and I think you would probably
• 44:54
Speaker 5: go along with that, But what's your cell job for
• 44:56
Speaker 5: why they should why they should.
• 44:57
  Speaker 3: Fly to here?
• 44:58
Speaker 15: So think about it on your way home. You've had
• 45:01
Speaker 15: a great vacation, you've landed, and you realize you have
• 45:05
Speaker 15: to drive three hours or you could be at CRW
• 45:08
Speaker 15: and you could be home in fifteen twenty thirty minutes. Again,
• 45:12
Speaker 15: by using what we have, we get more. We always
• 45:15
Speaker 15: tell our passengers that for the major airlines like Delta,
• 45:19
Speaker 15: American United, to book thirty to forty days out. Typically
• 45:23
Speaker 15: that's the best fair rate for our airport. When you're
• 45:27
Speaker 15: making a last minute trip, sometimes it gets a little
• 45:29
Speaker 15: bit more expensive because we just have fewer seats. So
• 45:33
Speaker 15: that's my pitch is it's cheaper, you're less wear and
• 45:36
Speaker 15: tear on your car. Our parking is less expensive than
• 45:39
Speaker 15: those airports that you're driving to, and in the long run,
• 45:42
Speaker 15: it can save you time and money.
• 45:43
Speaker 5: You have proven to be quite popular, because I have
• 45:46
Speaker 5: another text for you. Now we've got to be off
• 45:48
Speaker 5: the air about the ten oh six. All right, and
• 45:50
Speaker 5: this will be the final question. Do you have anything
• 45:52
  Speaker 5: going to Houston?
• 45:53
Speaker 15: Says the text, Not yet, but it is on our
• 45:54
Speaker 15: list and it could happen in the near future.
• 45:58
Speaker 5: All right, Dominic Granary, Western International, Yeager Airport. I appreciate
• 46:01

• 46:46

Speaker 5: big cases here in Kanawa County, but everybody around the
• 50:12
Speaker 5: state is taking a look at. I'm going to talk
• 50:13
Speaker 5: to one of the attorneys in one of those cases.
• 50:15
Speaker 3: It is Easter weekend.
• 50:17
Speaker 5: We'll have some special programming about that, not programming, but
• 50:21

• 50:24
Speaker 5: coming up after two thirty. Believe it or not, it
• 50:26
Speaker 5: is the thirtieth anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, and
• 50:29
Speaker 5: we are going to go to Oklahoma City and talk
• 50:32

• 50:36
Speaker 5: who at the time was working for Congressman at J. C. Watts,
• 50:40
Speaker 5: And he was there, and we're going to talk to

Speaker 5: the show today, amongst other things.
• 50:47
Speaker 3: TJ. Meadows is here. How you doing, man, I'm good.
• 50:50
Speaker 21: I remember I was in Daytona Beach on spring break
• 50:53
Speaker 21: when that happened, and I remember watching I think it
• 50:56
Speaker 21: was CNN, and they were telling the story and at
• 51:01
Speaker 21: one point they pivoted and they were talking to children
• 51:04
Speaker 21: and they were saying, if mommy and daddy haven't come
• 51:06
Speaker 21: home tonight, here's a number you could call. That's and
• 51:10
Speaker 21: that crystallized just how terrible, Yeah, that day was.
• 51:14
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 51:15
Speaker 5: And and to find out not that it really makes
• 51:17
Speaker 5: a difference, but to find out that this was the
• 51:19
Speaker 5: big shocking thing at that point because this was pre
• 51:21
Speaker 5: nine to eleven. Yeah, but we had had had, you know,
• 51:23
Speaker 5: the first people forget the World Trade Center was attacked
• 51:25
Speaker 5: before nine eleven. It was in the early nineties and
• 51:28
Speaker 5: the ninety three, maybe ninety two, ninety three, and fingers
• 51:32
Speaker 5: started getting pointed in that direction and somebody said, it's
• 51:35
Speaker 5: one of our own. Yeah, this was an American born,
• 51:37
Speaker 5: American bread terrorists said.
• 51:39
Speaker 22: Day sad day. All right, what's on a big show today?
• 51:42
Speaker 22: So Stywall stops by at eleven o'clock. Of course, Steam
• 51:44
Speaker 22: Release at eleven thirty, Brad macken at ten thirty three,
• 51:47
Speaker 22: but the big one today Dave Second Dick District's Congressman
• 51:51
Speaker 22: Riley Moore at ten o six. Yeah, he's been in
• 51:54
Speaker 22: the news a little bit in the news a little
• 51:55
Speaker 22: bit lately, a little bit, a little bit, and we'll
• 51:57
Speaker 22: ask him a point link question.
• 51:59
Speaker 3: You need not imagine what that might be. Yeah, right
• 52:02
Speaker 3: at the top of the show.
• 52:03
Speaker 5: Yeah, And he was on Fox Business I think last night,
• 52:06
Speaker 5: and he's been making the rounds and he's getting a
• 52:08
Speaker 5: lot of comments. But there's also people saying that was
• 52:11
Speaker 5: great what he did too, So we got to be fair.
• 52:13
Speaker 5: We'll talk about you'll talk about that with him. I
• 52:15
Speaker 5: will see you at Metro News Midday with thirteen News
