- 2:28Speaker 2: to your calls and texts too. Welcome to the show
- 2:30Speaker 2: now though the director of the Kenawh County Emergency Ambulus Authority,
- 2:34Speaker 2: Lance Wheeler, Good morning, sir, Welcome to the show.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Good morning Dave, Thanks for having me on.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I was doing the little video that I do prior
- 2:41Speaker 2: on social media, prior to the show, telling people what's
- 2:43Speaker 2: coming up and on the first two takes, and I
- 2:46Speaker 2: usually do it in one take. You can tell by
- 2:48Speaker 2: looking at it. I don't put a lot of work
- 2:49Speaker 2: into it and first two takes, I said, Knawa County
- 2:52Speaker 2: Commissioner Lance Wheeler. So you will have to forgive me
- 2:55Speaker 2: during this interview if I refer to you as Commissioner Wheeler.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Well, theyve I wear many hats, but whatever hat on
- 2:59Speaker 5: wearing today, I'm always excited to be on a Dave
- 3:01Speaker 5: Allen show.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Well, I appreciate you being here.
- 3:04Speaker 6: All right.
- 3:04Speaker 2: So first, well, a month or so on the job.
- 3:07Speaker 2: How's it been so far?
- 3:08Speaker 4: I think we're doing great.
- 3:09Speaker 6: You know.
- 3:09Speaker 5: We've been working really hard, myself and our staff, the
- 3:12Speaker 5: leadership team, all the employees, working to make changes, to
- 3:18Speaker 5: look at the budget to find a balanced budget by
- 3:20Speaker 5: the end of the year, which is our goal, and
- 3:22Speaker 5: we've made huge strips. But one of the things that
- 3:24Speaker 5: I've been pushing is we need to make sure that
- 3:27Speaker 5: we're providing excellent quality care here in Kannall County. And
- 3:30Speaker 5: the only way to do that is having qualified, exceptional
- 3:34Speaker 5: employees working at KCA. And so that's something that we're
- 3:37Speaker 5: working on right now, is looking for employees that want
- 3:40Speaker 5: to come and work at the premier EMS agency in
- 3:44Speaker 5: the state of West Virginia, at the Kennell County Emergency
- 3:46Speaker 5: AMS authority, and we're getting a lot of applicants, a
- 3:49Speaker 5: lot of people who used to work at kca that
- 3:51Speaker 5: want to come back because they've heard of the culture
- 3:53Speaker 5: that we're implementing at the AKCAA. They want to come
- 3:57Speaker 5: back because they care about their community, the people, their family,
- 4:00Speaker 5: their neighbors, the citizens of Kannall County. And we're getting
- 4:03Speaker 5: a lot of applicants. But we're going to continue to
- 4:05Speaker 5: hire because we're investing in the future of EMS in
- 4:08Speaker 5: Kanall County at KCAA. It's exciting times and I think
- 4:12Speaker 5: what we're going to be able to see is more
- 4:14Speaker 5: ambulances out on the road because we have more EMTs
- 4:17Speaker 5: and paramedics doing exceptional jobs here at the in Kannall County.
- 4:22Speaker 2: You talk about that culture that you're trying to instill there,
- 4:25Speaker 2: and again you've been on on the job there since
- 4:27Speaker 2: July first. Talked about what that what you envisioned for
- 4:30Speaker 2: that culture that you're striving towards.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Well, the first thing that I've said to the employees
- 4:34Speaker 5: in my all staff email that I sent was we're
- 4:36Speaker 5: going to have transparency. We're going to have accountability, not
- 4:39Speaker 5: just from the leadership. You know, it starts at the top,
- 4:41Speaker 5: but it's going to go all the way out into
- 4:43Speaker 5: the field to our EMTs, our paramedics, our evos, all
- 4:46Speaker 5: the way into our logistics, our fleet services, our billing department.
- 4:51Speaker 5: We're going to have a mission, a new mission that
- 4:54Speaker 5: I am starting on. Our mission is to heal and
- 4:57Speaker 5: save lives. Now, Dave, that's a short statement, easy to remember, right,
- 5:01Speaker 5: And so when we tell this over and over again
- 5:03Speaker 5: and we keep hammering we are here to heal and
- 5:06Speaker 5: save lives, every employee is going to remember that statement
- 5:10Speaker 5: when they go out into the field with every action
- 5:12Speaker 5: that they're going to be in taking as a CACAA employee,
- 5:15Speaker 5: as a provider of Kennall County and EMS, and they're
- 5:18Speaker 5: going to remember that statement in every action they're going
- 5:20Speaker 5: to take. They're going to remember, is this action I'm
- 5:22Speaker 5: doing healing and saving a life? And if it is,
- 5:25Speaker 5: then I know Executive Director Lance Wheeler, Jason Surgent, Deputy Director,
- 5:29Speaker 5: and the entire leadership approves.
- 5:32Speaker 2: You were talking about wanting to do some hiring and
- 5:34Speaker 2: recruiting people. What are you looking for?
- 5:37Speaker 5: Look, we need everything. When it comes to our EMTs
- 5:40Speaker 5: and paramedics. We are short staff. That is the transparent
- 5:43Speaker 5: honesty going on right now. I want more trucks out there,
- 5:46Speaker 5: not only because when an emergency happens in Kennall County,
- 5:49Speaker 5: which Dave you may know, is nine hundred and eleven
- 5:52Speaker 5: square miles in Kennall County, that's a large area for
- 5:56Speaker 5: us to cover, especially some of these rural areas where
- 5:58Speaker 5: we have to go out in the back will and
- 6:01Speaker 5: around the bins. It ain't all downtown Charleston, no, And
- 6:04Speaker 5: these are emergencies that seconds matter. Whether it's a stroke call,
- 6:09Speaker 5: whether it's a cardiac arrest, whatever it might be, we
- 6:12Speaker 5: need to get there quickly. So we have to make
- 6:14Speaker 5: sure that we're covering the entire Conall County and we
- 6:17Speaker 5: have ambulances stationed everywhere and making sure that when that
- 6:20Speaker 5: call comes in, there is an ambulance ready and close
- 6:23Speaker 5: by to get to you. But to do that, we
- 6:25Speaker 5: have to invest, and investing looks like buying more ambulances,
- 6:29Speaker 5: getting more supplies, and getting more employees to work at KCA,
- 6:33Speaker 5: which is a big push that I have been starting
- 6:36Speaker 5: in the last thirty days of my start date.
- 6:39Speaker 2: What's the hiring process looking like right now? I mean
- 6:41Speaker 2: to people, if they're interested in working for you. Just
- 6:43Speaker 2: go to your website. What do people need to do well?
- 6:46Speaker 5: I would say that what we're looking for is paramedics
- 6:49Speaker 5: and EMTs that are already credentialed, you know, already certified,
- 6:53Speaker 5: ready to work today. We want you whether you want
- 6:55Speaker 5: to start full time or maybe you're just looking for
- 6:57Speaker 5: an additional part time job to bring a little extra
- 6:59Speaker 5: bush to the table for the family, we want you
- 7:03Speaker 5: to apply and come talk with us and see if
- 7:05Speaker 5: there's an opportunity for you to come work at KCA.
- 7:08Speaker 5: We're also looking for new EMTs.
- 7:11Speaker 7: Dave.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Let's say that you are, you know, maybe you're.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Coming out of you know, high school in May, and
- 7:17Speaker 5: you're not sure what you want to do, but you
- 7:19Speaker 5: really want to just get back to your community and
- 7:20Speaker 5: you want to find a career that you're proud of.
- 7:22Speaker 5: We want you to come to our EMT school now.
- 7:25Speaker 5: We'll give you classes to get you to the point
- 7:28Speaker 5: to be able to take the EMT course and be
- 7:30Speaker 5: able to become an EMT working at KCA. You know,
- 7:34Speaker 5: that's where it starts, is getting these younger people or
- 7:38Speaker 5: even older individuals that are interested in getting into a
- 7:40Speaker 5: new field, getting them to become an EMT, getting them
- 7:43Speaker 5: started at KCA and allowing them to grow, maybe become
- 7:46Speaker 5: a paramedic, maybe get into leadership, whatever you might want
- 7:48Speaker 5: to do. We want to be open and transparent with everyone,
- 7:52Speaker 5: and we want to have people coming to us and
- 7:54Speaker 5: applying at KCA if they want to become an EMT.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Now, how do you do that? Well, you can call
- 7:59Speaker 4: our office.
- 8:00Speaker 5: You can go on Facebook, KCAA on Facebook on social media.
- 8:04Speaker 5: You can go to our website KCAA dot org. You
- 8:08Speaker 5: can apply there and we're actually having applications right now.
- 8:12Speaker 5: The deadline is tomorrow. We are looking for the EMT
- 8:15Speaker 5: Academy tomorrow. If you want to get in our EMT
- 8:18Speaker 5: Academy that starts in September, apply by tomorrow. We'll get
- 8:22Speaker 5: your application and we'll get you ready and you can
- 8:24Speaker 5: come take the course and become an EMT at KCAA.
- 8:27Speaker 2: One of the things Lance you were tasked with when
- 8:29Speaker 2: you took over was to try to fix an organization
- 8:32Speaker 2: that was way in depth. We've talked about the personnel,
- 8:35Speaker 2: but now let's talk about the financial aspect of how's
- 8:38Speaker 2: that going well.
- 8:39Speaker 5: I think we've been making large strides as executive director
- 8:43Speaker 5: and let me say first that this isn't a issue
- 8:46Speaker 5: that is only a leadership issue, right. This is something
- 8:49Speaker 5: that we all have to work together. I can't go
- 8:51Speaker 5: in there as one person and find every little dollar
- 8:54Speaker 5: that we can save.
- 8:54Speaker 4: I wish I could. It takes a team effort.
- 8:56Speaker 5: And so day one I told the staff that we're
- 8:59Speaker 5: going to all be looking for opportunities to save money
- 9:02Speaker 5: in this fiscal budget moving forward. That's not cutting corners,
- 9:06Speaker 5: that's not reducing essential services on those response times I
- 9:09Speaker 5: talked about earlier. That's finding real, verified savings in this
- 9:13Speaker 5: budget that we can save on, whether it's descriptions to
- 9:15Speaker 5: online services, whether it's agreements that we haven't used since
- 9:19Speaker 5: twenty nineteen and terminating those agreements because we've been paying
- 9:23Speaker 5: them for no reason at all. And so this staff
- 9:25Speaker 5: really took this on as a team effort, and I
- 9:28Speaker 5: made sure that in our conference room that we have
- 9:30Speaker 5: our what I call morning huddle meetings. I made sure
- 9:33Speaker 5: that we put up a display that has the exact
- 9:36Speaker 5: number that we add up on how much we've saved
- 9:39Speaker 5: KCA for this fiscal budget, and together as a team,
- 9:42Speaker 5: we've saved nearly a quarter million dollars. To be exact,
- 9:46Speaker 5: I've got the number right here for you, Dave. It
- 9:48Speaker 5: is two hundred and forty three thousand, two hundred and
- 9:51Speaker 5: ninety two dollars and seventy seven cents in this fiscal
- 9:54Speaker 5: budget alone. And that's within just thirty days of me
- 9:57Speaker 5: coming on. I think you give us time working to
- 10:00Speaker 5: we're going to have that balance budget like we promised
- 10:02Speaker 5: at the end of the fiscal year next year in July.
- 10:04Speaker 2: At a text here, it says, as a data entry
- 10:07Speaker 2: billing process or for an insurance company, would you consider
- 10:09Speaker 2: hiring for work from home a few days a week
- 10:12Speaker 2: as a second income for example.
- 10:13Speaker 5: I'm interested in listening to anyone who wants to come
- 10:16Speaker 5: work at KCA and have that opportunity if maybe them
- 10:19Speaker 5: being able to bring something to us that is going
- 10:22Speaker 5: to either be cost savings, generate more revenue, or be
- 10:26Speaker 5: a provider out in the field. If you're interested in
- 10:28Speaker 5: working at KCA in whatever field that you think you
- 10:30Speaker 5: can bring that opportunity to us, I'm willing to listen
- 10:33Speaker 5: to you and see if there's an opportunity for you
- 10:35Speaker 5: to fit in.
- 10:35Speaker 2: All right, so they should they just contact the office,
- 10:37Speaker 2: as you said, or the website or Facebook or any
- 10:39Speaker 2: of those.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Absolutely, they can always call our phone number three oh
- 10:41Speaker 5: four three four to two one one zero seven and
- 10:45Speaker 5: talk to the operator there and they'll get you into
- 10:48Speaker 5: our HR department and we'll get that process started.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Nine eighteen, we're talking to Lance Wheeler Dave Allen Show

- 11:09Speaker 2: what you don't know can hurt you. I want to
- 11:11Speaker 2: talk about some of the trainings for the community that
- 11:13Speaker 2: we're talking about, not necessarily for your employees, but I
- 11:17Speaker 2: mean CPR and things that nature. Talk about some of
- 11:19Speaker 2: those trainings from the community outreach.
- 11:21Speaker 5: Well, Dave, it's been very important to me since day one.
- 11:23Speaker 5: We are a public entity, right we are created by
- 11:27Speaker 5: the County Commission here in Kennall County. We do collect
- 11:31Speaker 5: tax dollars through the Safety Levey, which we're very proud
- 11:34Speaker 5: that that voters have been able to give that opportunity,
- 11:36Speaker 5: so we can provide the service of KCA that we do,
- 11:39Speaker 5: but we also know that we need to give back
- 11:41Speaker 5: to the public. It's more than just now on one calls.
- 11:43Speaker 5: It's something that we can use our skill sets to
- 11:45Speaker 5: give back, and so one of the things that we've
- 11:47Speaker 5: done is a CPR class that we're going to be
- 11:49Speaker 5: offering once a month. Anybody who's interested in learning from
- 11:53Speaker 5: our education team, our paramedics how to give proper CPR
- 11:56Speaker 5: to an individual who needs it most can come and
- 11:59Speaker 5: learn from us. You can get your CPR card and listen.
- 12:02Speaker 5: This is something that you may have to use at
- 12:05Speaker 5: a very moment's notice for a family member, for a neighbor,
- 12:09Speaker 5: maybe even a stranger out in the public. But having
- 12:12Speaker 5: that CPR for an individual in cardiac arrest is crucial
- 12:16Speaker 5: to them getting the recovery they need by the time
- 12:19Speaker 5: to get to the hospital. We have a saying now
- 12:21Speaker 5: at KCA, treatment for a patient doesn't start at the hospital.
- 12:26Speaker 5: It starts when they need it most. And when somebody's
- 12:28Speaker 5: in cardiac arrest, whether it's at a football game, whether
- 12:30Speaker 5: it's at a barbecue, whether they're just walking down the
- 12:33Speaker 5: street and they have that instant occur. Having somebody close
- 12:37Speaker 5: by that knows CPR is important. So we want to
- 12:39Speaker 5: make sure that we're giving those teachings out to the
- 12:42Speaker 5: public so everybody is taught and knows how to give
- 12:46Speaker 5: proper CPR. And we're going to do this once a month.
- 12:50Speaker 5: We're actually gonna have one tonight, Dave, and so we
- 12:53Speaker 5: accept walk ins. You can come to our office which
- 12:55Speaker 5: is at six oh one Brook Street right here in Charleston,
- 12:58Speaker 5: and we usually charge fifty dollars. That's kind of the
- 13:02Speaker 5: pay for our employees because it's you know, after hours.
- 13:05Speaker 4: But let me tell you something, Dave, because you.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Are such a first responder guy, you have first responders
- 13:11Speaker 5: come on here, all the agencies come on here and
- 13:13Speaker 5: be able to give our talks out to the public.
- 13:16Speaker 5: I want to say that anyone that comes tonight at
- 13:18Speaker 5: five o'clock at KCA to take a CPR class, if
- 13:21Speaker 5: they mentioned that Dave Allen sent them.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Do you get to take the CPR class for free? Okay?
- 13:26Speaker 2: And then you're gonna send me a bill for it?
- 13:27Speaker 4: Does that right? No, we will cover that cost.
- 13:30Speaker 2: So you got a free CPR class to see what
- 13:32Speaker 2: time is it story at five o'clock. You just got
- 13:34Speaker 2: to say that that you heard us talking about on
- 13:36Speaker 2: the radio.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Absolutely all you got to do is say, Dave Allen
- 13:39Speaker 5: sent me, and we'll teach you CPR for free, no
- 13:41Speaker 5: prech' that's to your listeners, because again, Dave, you have
- 13:45Speaker 5: always been there for the first responders. You've given us
- 13:47Speaker 5: a microphone so we can speak to the people that
- 13:50Speaker 5: we serve. And because of that, if you go tonight
- 13:53Speaker 5: at KCAA and you want to learn how to give
- 13:56Speaker 5: CPR properly, tell them Dave Allen sent you and we
- 13:59Speaker 5: won't try.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Don all right, Lance Wheeler, It's always a pleasure to
- 14:02Speaker 2: have you on the show. We'll have you on again
- 14:04Speaker 2: real soon. Man, Thanks a lot, Dave, thanks for having me,
- 14:06Speaker 2: all right, hanging out with me here just one second.

- 14:09Speaker 2: to Beat Backpack Attack coming back next Wednesday on our

- 14:15Speaker 2: at three thirty giveaways We'll start at four to thirty.

- 14:20Speaker 2: be present to win the backpacks presented by Selango Law
- 14:22Speaker 2: in conjunction with a lot of other community partners. Too
- 14:25Speaker 2: many to mention right now, but we got all the
- 14:27Speaker 2: information available on our social media and our websites as well.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Looking forward to seeing everybody next Wednesday. We're going to
- 14:32Speaker 2: talk about the Marshall University Quarterback Club of Charleston's annual

- 14:38Speaker 2: if you're planned on going, you need to get your

- 14:42Speaker 2: that and when we come back, we're talking multifest You're

- 17:49Speaker 2: under Wright today and Charleston doctor David Freisten is with
- 17:51Speaker 2: us to talk about it. Good morning, sir, welcome to
- 17:52Speaker 2: the show.
- 17:53Speaker 6: Good to be here.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Thank you for being here. You know you were telling
- 17:55Speaker 2: you and I were talking off the air. I saw
- 17:56Speaker 2: a pretty wicked looking storm that rolled onto the boulevard
- 18:00Speaker 2: yesterday evening during the setup. Aaron Wood, our friend from
- 18:03Speaker 2: Quantum Party Rentals, posted it and I shared it don
- 18:05Speaker 2: Dave Allen Radio on the Facebook. I hope we see
- 18:08Speaker 2: nothing like that once the events get started.
- 18:11Speaker 13: Yeah, well, I'm glad we got it out of our
- 18:13Speaker 13: system right, So we had enough rain yesterday to last
- 18:16Speaker 13: the rest of the week.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I mean, and like I told you, today's valley absolutely nothing.
- 18:21Speaker 6: It's amazing it is right now.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Even talking to one of our coworkers who lives in St. Albans,
- 18:25Speaker 2: they hardly got anything yesterday as well. So we'll make
- 18:28Speaker 2: sure that meteorologist Brian Hughes knows it's done.
- 18:31Speaker 6: It's done.
- 18:31Speaker 2: It's done at this point. For those who don't know,
- 18:34Speaker 2: give us the history multi Fest Multifest.
- 18:36Speaker 13: Thirty six years ago, there was a challenge into whether
- 18:41Speaker 13: or not there was enough multiculturalism at the then regatta.
- 18:47Speaker 13: As you know, at that point regatta was at its
- 18:49Speaker 13: height and Steve Starks, who was a visionary win and
- 18:54Speaker 13: asked for more inclusion and they basically said no, and
- 18:58Speaker 13: if you want to do something, start your own, and
- 19:00Speaker 13: he did and he basically single handedly, just within a
- 19:04Speaker 13: couple of weeks started the first Multifest and so for
- 19:08Speaker 13: thirty six years, Multifests the longest running multicultural festival in
- 19:12Speaker 13: West Virginia, no nationally because of its length and its breath,
- 19:18Speaker 13: and it is something for everyone. When I use a
- 19:21Speaker 13: word multiculturalism, somebody with many people may think that's one group. Now,
- 19:25Speaker 13: that's everyone. There is something for everybody at Multifest.
- 19:29Speaker 2: And again I think, you know, that's kind of a
- 19:31Speaker 2: cliche to say there is something for everybody, But I
- 19:34Speaker 2: actually posted the schedule over on my social media, so
- 19:36Speaker 2: you can check that out of Dave Allen Radio or
- 19:38Speaker 2: at Dave A seventy and X. There is something for everybody.
- 19:41Speaker 13: Absolutely, absolutely, we and what we have tried to do
- 19:44Speaker 13: over the years is just expand the offering. So we're
- 19:48Speaker 13: actually starting on Thursday now. For the last two or
- 19:50Speaker 13: three years we've started on Thursday. We have expanded our
- 19:54Speaker 13: Kids Zone, which is just just an amazing thing to
- 19:58Speaker 13: be able to bring your kids and have a a
- 20:00Speaker 13: great outside, safe environment for them.
- 20:04Speaker 2: And I was just looking at today's lineup. If I'm
- 20:06Speaker 2: correcting this, the vendors are going to open at three.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I think this afternoon they were already getting set up.
- 20:10Speaker 2: You get the kid zone opening up at four, there's
- 20:12Speaker 2: the multicultural kickoff parade called rep Your Culture at five,
- 20:17Speaker 2: official opening ceremonies at five thirty cultural presentations. After that,
- 20:22Speaker 2: the Southern Soul Trail Ride theme party with line dancing.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Like I said, man, you can't get any more multiculture
- 20:29Speaker 2: than you got line dancing going on, and you've got
- 20:31Speaker 2: music tonight, national headliner Southern soul artist Lamar Bruce. You
- 20:36Speaker 2: got three Piece Suit, which is a blues band playing
- 20:38Speaker 2: this evening as well. I mean, there's a lot of
- 20:40Speaker 2: stuff packed in.
- 20:41Speaker 6: There, really is.
- 20:42Speaker 13: And the great thing about expanding to Thursday, it really
- 20:46Speaker 13: gives some of the more obscure groups an opportunity to
- 20:50Speaker 13: be involved. One of the things that about Multifest is
- 20:54Speaker 13: that everyone wants to be involved with multifests, and sometimes
- 20:57Speaker 13: some of the local performers are saying and well, we
- 21:00Speaker 13: didn't get a chance this year, but we try to
- 21:02Speaker 13: spread it around because we are we are not just
- 21:05Speaker 13: a canal valley.
- 21:06Speaker 6: We're a regional We're a national organization.
- 21:09Speaker 2: And I mean, I'm not going to run down the
- 21:11Speaker 2: entire list because we'll be here all day.
- 21:13Speaker 6: That's signed with me.
- 21:14Speaker 2: So you can go look it over at to Dave
- 21:16Speaker 2: Allen Radio on Facebook, right Dave seventy on X just
- 21:20Speaker 2: hit some of the some. I mean, you're gonna have
- 21:21Speaker 2: vendors every day. I saw where Delgate Hollis Lewis is
- 21:25Speaker 2: doing a pizza eating card. He says he's not participating
- 21:28Speaker 2: though we had Monchelle actually because he as he said,
- 21:31Speaker 2: I'm cutting.
- 21:31Speaker 6: Now, Yeah, I understand. Well, we just want to make
- 21:33Speaker 6: sure there's enough pizza for other things.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go, there you go.
- 21:36Speaker 13: But the great thing what we're doing this year we
- 21:39Speaker 13: have expanded offerings into things like, uh, there's gonna be
- 21:42Speaker 13: a Macaroni and Cheese contest for instance, and uh, but
- 21:47Speaker 13: we're also trying to make sure that there are informational
- 21:51Speaker 13: things going on on on on Saturday where we are having.
- 21:56Speaker 13: On Friday, we're having a financial literacy seminar. We're asking
- 22:00Speaker 13: people to come down to be a part of that.
- 22:03Speaker 13: And then we are we have a health focus, so
- 22:06Speaker 13: doctor Jeffrey Cousins is going to come in for a
- 22:09Speaker 13: brunch on on on Saturday morning. We want everybody to
- 22:13Speaker 13: come in and learn healthful habits. And this day and time,
- 22:17Speaker 13: it is very important for us to focus on our
- 22:21Speaker 13: personal longevity.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I want to talk about the kid zones and the
- 22:25Speaker 2: things for the kids there. Why is it important for
- 22:27Speaker 2: the young people to get involved in this?
- 22:28Speaker 13: Well, Uh, it goes back to the theme of having
- 22:31Speaker 13: something for everyone, and what we want young people is
- 22:36Speaker 13: to look back over their life and realize that no
- 22:38Speaker 13: matter what their age was, that they were able to
- 22:40Speaker 13: come out for Multifest. So we're looking back over a lifetime.
- 22:45Speaker 13: So when I was a kid, I was there, When
- 22:46Speaker 13: I was a teenager, I was there now middle age,
- 22:49Speaker 13: and there's something for me there. And one of the
- 22:52Speaker 13: things that that that I think is really a crux
- 22:54Speaker 13: of what we do is is it's almost like West
- 22:59Speaker 13: Virginia Reunion for multifests, and so many people come in,
- 23:03Speaker 13: they will have their family reunions around multifests, and so
- 23:07Speaker 13: it is I like to say it. It is the
- 23:09Speaker 13: time for fun, it's the time for relationship, it's the
- 23:11Speaker 13: time for great music. But it's a time to for
- 23:14Speaker 13: us to celebrate one another in our West Virginia culture.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And thirty six years, I mean, you think about how
- 23:22Speaker 2: this thing started and how big it is now, and
- 23:24Speaker 2: it's and it's and it's survived because many other things,
- 23:27Speaker 2: for one reason or another, didn't survive. But Multifest is
- 23:30Speaker 2: still here thirty six years later.
- 23:31Speaker 13: Well many have come and gone since that, since that time,
- 23:35Speaker 13: But I would be REMISSI if I didn't say we
- 23:37Speaker 13: we run into our own challenges, you know, with with
- 23:41Speaker 13: challenging financial times. But one of the things we can
- 23:44Speaker 13: say about Multifest. No matter how much we raise, we
- 23:47Speaker 13: are probably the most efficient.
- 23:52Speaker 6: Group in the state.
- 23:54Speaker 13: So in other words, we we we don't have designated budgets.
- 23:58Speaker 13: We thank the City of Charleon, we thank the Kanall
- 24:01Speaker 13: County Commission. We think that the other local cities, like
- 24:05Speaker 13: the city of South Charleston gives us golf carts, for instance,
- 24:08Speaker 13: and so we have any kind of in kind. The
- 24:11Speaker 13: state of West Virginia is very helpful, you know, with
- 24:14Speaker 13: the tourism boards, but also the local companies. And over
- 24:21Speaker 13: the last couple of years we have had a lot
- 24:23Speaker 13: of participation just from individual donors who will and we
- 24:28Speaker 13: accept anything from five to five million.
- 24:31Speaker 6: So whatever you want.
- 24:32Speaker 2: To do, let me know when the five million rolls in.
- 24:34Speaker 6: I want to be a part of Well, yeah, you'll
- 24:36Speaker 6: be hearing about it, you know.
- 24:37Speaker 2: In our last interview, we were talking to Lance Wheeler,
- 24:40Speaker 2: the new director of the Ambulance Service Authority, about some
- 24:43Speaker 2: of the community CPR classes that they're offering and reason
- 24:46Speaker 2: I bring it up because we have a Texas says,
- 24:48Speaker 2: you know, events like Multifest we're got to be great opportunities.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Like Lance was just mentioning for EMTs, doctors and nurses
- 24:54Speaker 2: to voluntarily come down and teach CPR to adults and kids,
- 24:57Speaker 2: not just adults with CPR, and babies or even animals
- 24:59Speaker 2: as well.
- 25:00Speaker 6: It makes sense we'll make room for anything.
- 25:01Speaker 13: I mean, we'll we will make room because it is
- 25:03Speaker 13: a community focused event. We It is really amazing to
- 25:10Speaker 13: me though that as you go over the four days,
- 25:13Speaker 13: the broad spectrum of people who come out and uh
- 25:19Speaker 13: and again, I know I keep repeating this, but it
- 25:22Speaker 13: is really for for for everyone, and so we The
- 25:25Speaker 13: way that we are able to sustain it though, is
- 25:28Speaker 13: that the vendors need to have customers. But as we
- 25:34Speaker 13: have done since missus Stark's started this, everything in terms
- 25:40Speaker 13: of being able to come out is free, and so
- 25:43Speaker 13: at this time of affordability, it is wonderful to be
- 25:47Speaker 13: able to bring your family to a family friendly environment
- 25:52Speaker 13: and for them to be able to take partake of
- 25:54Speaker 13: the acts and see everything and not have an overhead.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and you're gonna have food. Obviously you mentioned the
- 25:59Speaker 2: fast but there I'm sure they'll be food trucks and
- 26:01Speaker 2: things of that.
- 26:02Speaker 13: Absolutely, we have about fifty five vendors and so it
- 26:06Speaker 13: is important to come in and get a spice, get
- 26:09Speaker 13: a get a get a slice of all the different
- 26:12Speaker 13: levels of cultural food that we have.
- 26:15Speaker 2: What's what's some of the things that are there, David
- 26:18Speaker 2: that maybe people don't think about being there, that they're
- 26:21Speaker 2: surprised when they come out, or maybe something that's new
- 26:23Speaker 2: this year.
- 26:24Speaker 13: Well, I think, you know, it's interesting as I as
- 26:27Speaker 13: I travel around the country, I'm always surprised if I
- 26:31Speaker 13: mentioned Multifest, people know about it. And so I don't
- 26:34Speaker 13: think we always realize the reach that we have. People
- 26:37Speaker 13: come in just from multifests or they have a family
- 26:40Speaker 13: member that knows about about Multifest. But I truly believe
- 26:44Speaker 13: that that that it is the it is the rich
- 26:48Speaker 13: family atmosphere, and it's such a safe environment.
- 26:52Speaker 6: And so I think that.
- 26:53Speaker 13: Anyone no matter what where you are within the political spectrum,
- 26:57Speaker 13: no matter where you are from a religious standpoint. And
- 27:00Speaker 13: on Sunday, by the way, I was going to mention that, Yeah,
- 27:02Speaker 13: on Sunday, we're we're having a church service on on site.
- 27:07Speaker 13: Then we will go into gospel, and then we will
- 27:10Speaker 13: go into uh uh to to more secular things, and
- 27:14Speaker 13: then on Sunday we end with the sugar Hill Gang
- 27:18Speaker 13: and the generations know the sugar Hill Gang. They're one
- 27:22Speaker 13: of the original rappers. Delights, Yes, is really the one
- 27:25Speaker 13: that started it all.
- 27:26Speaker 2: That's absolutely true, and they're going to be there. It's
- 27:29Speaker 2: going to be fantastic. And one of the themes of
- 27:31Speaker 2: this throughout the entire four days is there's always music playing.
- 27:35Speaker 2: I mean, there's always you're going to hear and there
- 27:36Speaker 2: are all different types of music.
- 27:38Speaker 13: And you asked we're doing something different for Thursday for tonight,
- 27:42Speaker 13: we are actually not down on the stage.
- 27:45Speaker 6: I had that.
- 27:45Speaker 13: We're actually on a smaller stage on the street level.
- 27:49Speaker 13: So this year we're doing some things on the street level,
- 27:51Speaker 13: some things down on the on the main stage.
- 27:54Speaker 2: And it's a big old time, it always always is.
- 27:56Speaker 2: You mentioned some of the sponsors, uh, I mean, I
- 27:58Speaker 2: know that City of Charleston's have all the Nisconnawk County,
- 28:01Speaker 2: our friends over at at eight and Fox Appalachia, West Virginia,
- 28:06Speaker 2: Department of Tourism, Greater Kanna Valley Foundation, just to name
- 28:09Speaker 2: a few other ones.
- 28:10Speaker 13: Absolutely, and then we have individual sponsors and and and
- 28:14Speaker 13: so when you when you look at it, it is
- 28:17Speaker 13: truly a community outreach.
- 28:20Speaker 2: And that's what it's all about. It Again, I got
- 28:21Speaker 2: information posted on my social media's Dave Alan Radio on
- 28:24Speaker 2: Facebook or at DABA seventy on access. Is your your
- 28:27Speaker 2: chance to just invite people to come out. Well, I'll
- 28:31Speaker 2: just let you go.
- 28:31Speaker 13: Well I kind of buried the lead because because of
- 28:34Speaker 13: all of the wonderful entertainment, our headliner acts I think
- 28:37Speaker 13: are very important.
- 28:39Speaker 6: So for for tonight, our headliner.
- 28:42Speaker 13: Would be the uh the Lamar Brace Band, which is
- 28:45Speaker 13: a Southern soul artist. Our headliners are our regional and
- 28:50Speaker 13: national headliners. On Friday will be Jay Holiday. It's interesting
- 28:55Speaker 13: to hear the young ladies scream when Jay Holiday come out.
- 28:58Speaker 6: And our national yet back of the day.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:03Speaker 13: And then the national headliner on Friday will be cut
- 29:06Speaker 13: close uh there uh. And on Saturday, our our our
- 29:10Speaker 13: national headliner will be one twelve, the R and B
- 29:14Speaker 13: Group one twelve And that's that's always a great time.
- 29:17Speaker 2: And we talked about twelve had a bunch of hits.
- 29:20Speaker 13: They really did, They really did. They were with us
- 29:23Speaker 13: a few years ago. It was just a wonderful evening.
- 29:25Speaker 13: What's a wonderful show?
- 29:26Speaker 2: All right?
- 29:28Speaker 1: Is there?
- 29:28Speaker 2: I mean, I've got the list posted, but you guys
- 29:30Speaker 2: have a Facebook page or something the website or something
- 29:32Speaker 2: so people can see all the stuff into tall.
- 29:34Speaker 13: You can go to multifest WV and and on an
- 29:38Speaker 13: ongoing basis, there will be some videos there as we
- 29:41Speaker 13: as we I was noticing this morning, you know, we
- 29:43Speaker 13: we kind of had videos about the setup and and everything.
- 29:48Speaker 13: I do want to give a shout out to our
- 29:50Speaker 13: executive director, Uh Minister Tomorrow you banks Uh. And we
- 29:55Speaker 13: are very fortunate to have her because she not she
- 29:57Speaker 13: she lives this. You know, we start multi like the
- 30:00Speaker 13: week after the last multi things the way, that's way
- 30:02Speaker 13: you have to do it, absolutely, and she not only
- 30:07Speaker 13: is is so involved with her family has evolved and
- 30:09Speaker 13: one of our biggest sponsors are the U Bank Family Trust,
- 30:15Speaker 13: and so we have buy in in addition to the
- 30:18Speaker 13: work that we put in.
- 30:19Speaker 2: All right, looking forward to it. It kicks off later
- 30:22Speaker 2: today with the vendors or something going on. I mean
- 30:24Speaker 2: all afternoon and evening all the way through Sunday, Doctor
- 30:27Speaker 2: David Friest. And I appreciate you being here.

- 34:03Speaker 2: to talk about it, Robert stone Street for the Quarterback
- 34:05Speaker 2: Club of Charleston. Good morning, Sarah, welcome.
- 34:07Speaker 6: To the show.
- 34:07Speaker 16: Good morning Dave, Thank you man.
- 34:08Speaker 2: It's going to be a big old party it always
- 34:10Speaker 2: is over the airport on the twenty seventh of this month.
- 34:13Speaker 16: Yes, it is a great event. This is a celebration
- 34:15Speaker 16: of the start of the fall sports season at Marshall.
- 34:19Speaker 16: Everybody I know is focused on football, but we also
- 34:22Speaker 16: have soccer starting, We've got basketball won't be far from that,
- 34:26Speaker 16: and we're going to have several coaches to give some
- 34:30Speaker 16: reports and all the exciting things going on with the
- 34:32Speaker 16: different athletic teams.
- 34:34Speaker 2: And Steve Animal and are going to be serving as
- 34:35Speaker 2: MC that right there is worth the ticket.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Right it is.
- 34:38Speaker 2: It is absolutely worth it tick, he said, tongue in cheek.
- 34:41Speaker 2: But now we have a good seven I've done at
- 34:43Speaker 2: the last three or four years and we have a
- 34:45Speaker 2: great time up there. And the great thing about this
- 34:47Speaker 2: environment is, I mean, this is a celebration of all
- 34:50Speaker 2: things Marshall, but there's people that aren't necessarily Marshall fans
- 34:54Speaker 2: that show up just because you know, they just want
- 34:57Speaker 2: to support what's going on there. And plus they just
- 34:59Speaker 2: like a big party. And that's what it is because
- 35:01Speaker 2: I think Chef Paul and the folks at ten ten
- 35:03Speaker 2: are they doing the catering again today?
- 35:04Speaker 15: Are?
- 35:05Speaker 17: Yeah?
- 35:05Speaker 2: And so you've got great food, you've got great drink.
- 35:07Speaker 2: There's always great door prizes and auctions and things of
- 35:11Speaker 2: that nature. Plus you get the party in an airplane hangar.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I mean, how cool is that. And the folks that
- 35:16Speaker 2: to build No Flight School always put out some of
- 35:18Speaker 2: the planes so people can have their picture made with it,
- 35:20Speaker 2: take a you know, take a look at them. I mean,
- 35:22Speaker 2: it's just a great old night. And if the weather
- 35:25Speaker 2: is good, which in knock on Wood it has been
- 35:27Speaker 2: the last couple of years, it's it's great up on
- 35:29Speaker 2: the mountain. There's great views.
- 35:31Speaker 9: It is.
- 35:32Speaker 2: It's great up there.
- 35:32Speaker 16: And the good thing is if it does happen to rain,
- 35:35Speaker 16: we're in a big hangar, so you're not gonna get
- 35:38Speaker 16: wet even if it does rain.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and again this is a very non formal event.
- 35:42Speaker 2: You know, where your Marshall gear, where your tailgate clothes.
- 35:46Speaker 2: It's you know, just just come out and enjoy. And
- 35:49Speaker 2: you mentioned the coaches that are gonna be there. I
- 35:51Speaker 2: know coach Gibson is going to be there, Corny Jackson,
- 35:53Speaker 2: the basketball coach. Several other coaches will be there as well.
- 35:56Speaker 2: There's usually some student athletes that are there years past.
- 36:00Speaker 2: The cheerleaders have been there, the dance teams, sometimes the
- 36:03Speaker 2: band shows up that their schedule allows. And the voice
- 36:05Speaker 2: of the Thunder and Herd, Steve Cotton, is there and
- 36:08Speaker 2: he does sort of a Q and A with some
- 36:12Speaker 2: of the coaches and with the athletes that there there,
- 36:14Speaker 2: so that kind of adds to it as well.
- 36:16Speaker 4: Yeah, he does.
- 36:16Speaker 16: And you mentioned the football and the men's basketball coach.
- 36:19Speaker 16: We also have Julie Fulks who's the women's basketball coach,
- 36:23Speaker 16: Caleb Bowen from the cross country team, Phoebe Campbell from swimming,
- 36:26Speaker 16: and diving.
- 36:27Speaker 2: We'll all be there and we are saying this because
- 36:30Speaker 2: the event's not to August twenty seventh. The reason I
- 36:32Speaker 2: have you on early, Robert is because this event sells
- 36:35Speaker 2: out and it frequently does, and it's going to this
- 36:38Speaker 2: year it does.
- 36:39Speaker 16: Yes, And one more coach don't want to leave out
- 36:41Speaker 16: is Evan Richard, which is the new stunt coach.
- 36:44Speaker 2: That's a new thing at Marso the stunt the stunt team. Right,
- 36:48Speaker 2: but get your tickets now heard zone dot com. Correct,
- 36:52Speaker 2: that's the best place to get your tickets. Individual tickets
- 36:55Speaker 2: are available still, and I do want to mention that
- 36:59Speaker 2: this would not be possible without the corporate buy in
- 37:02Speaker 2: from so many different people, so many different entities around
- 37:06Speaker 2: the Canal Valley and around the citth of We Street.
- 37:07Speaker 2: You need to buy tables for their employees or their
- 37:11Speaker 2: friends or their customers to come out. And there are
- 37:13Speaker 2: still opportunities to buy tables right.
- 37:14Speaker 16: Yes, absolutely, And want to get a shout out to
- 37:17Speaker 16: some of our green sponsors, which are the twenty five
- 37:19Speaker 16: hundred dollars tables, Mark and Monica Hatfield, Melanie Pagliaro at
- 37:24Speaker 16: Mapping Associates and Martial Health Network is a green sponsor
- 37:28Speaker 16: this year, and then you can get a white table
- 37:30Speaker 16: for thirteen hundred dollars. Each table has ten seats, but
- 37:34Speaker 16: there are tables available now as we get closer to
- 37:38Speaker 16: the event. In the past several years it has sold
- 37:41Speaker 16: out well.
- 37:42Speaker 2: And as far as getting the tables, you got to
- 37:44Speaker 2: let the people that are doing the logistics know ahead
- 37:46Speaker 2: of time, you know. So that's why you know, we
- 37:48Speaker 2: want to throw that out there now. If you do.
- 37:50Speaker 2: If your business does want to be a sponsor or,
- 37:52Speaker 2: you as an individual wants to buy a table, you'd
- 37:54Speaker 2: probably need to do so some time over the next
- 37:55Speaker 2: week or so so they can get you on the
- 37:57Speaker 2: program and you know, things of that nature.
- 37:58Speaker 16: Absolutely, you get some emotional benefits and marketing if you're
- 38:02Speaker 16: a company for being a sponsor and we want to
- 38:04Speaker 16: make sure you have a table.
- 38:06Speaker 4: It is a big hangar.
- 38:07Speaker 2: It's a big hangar, but I'll tell you it gets
- 38:08Speaker 2: a little crowded in there sometimes. It certainly does, and
- 38:12Speaker 2: especially when you get all those Marshall folks there as well.
- 38:14Speaker 2: And again this time of year it is I mean
- 38:17Speaker 2: even towards the end of August. You know, this will
- 38:18Speaker 2: be a few days before the season starts, and everybody
- 38:20Speaker 2: like me and you, we got football fever. You know,
- 38:22Speaker 2: we're rare to go, whether it's college, high school, pros, whatever.
- 38:26Speaker 2: I just I just want football in my life.
- 38:28Speaker 16: I'm with you, and I also have soccer fever.
- 38:31Speaker 6: You've got.
- 38:31Speaker 16: The soccer team is starting up and we're ranked seventeenth,
- 38:34Speaker 16: I believe in the nation right now, okay, and really
- 38:37Speaker 16: looking forward to both the men and women's soccer team.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Talk about some of the giveaways and promotions that go on,
- 38:43Speaker 2: because I mean, I haven't seen the list, but Robert,
- 38:45Speaker 2: in years past you've offered trips to go with the
- 38:49Speaker 2: team down to a destination somewhere. I know you may
- 38:51Speaker 2: still be working on that stuff right now, but we'll
- 38:53Speaker 2: have more of that this year, right.
- 38:54Speaker 16: Yeah, we'll have I'm pretty sure we're going to have
- 38:57Speaker 16: an opportunity to bid on a trip to Sunbelt basketball
- 39:01Speaker 16: tournament in Pensacola. So who doesn't want to go to
- 39:04Speaker 16: Pensacola in March.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Especially in that time of year, right So.
- 39:07Speaker 16: That that's going to be a live auction item. And
- 39:10Speaker 16: we're still working on some potential out of items.
- 39:13Speaker 2: And again, this is such a low key atmosphere. You
- 39:16Speaker 2: know it's not. I mean, yeah, there's some Normally President
- 39:20Speaker 2: Brad Smith has been there. I don't know whether hisll
- 39:21Speaker 2: schedule allowed to be here this year not, but normally
- 39:23Speaker 2: in years past he's been there. So he'll get up,
- 39:25Speaker 2: give a few words and no. Mayor Goodwin always welcomes
- 39:27Speaker 2: everybody in behalf of the city and things of that nature.
- 39:30Speaker 2: But it's it's very informal, so we don't people to
- 39:33Speaker 2: think that they're going to a a not I mean,
- 39:35Speaker 2: it's a nice dinner, don't get me wrong, but it's
- 39:36Speaker 2: not a plated event where you're going to sit there
- 39:38Speaker 2: in a suit and tie or whatever. This is a
- 39:40Speaker 2: tailgate party.
- 39:41Speaker 16: It is a it's a tailgate themed event. So whear
- 39:44Speaker 16: what you would wear to a tailgate?
- 39:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and enjoyed the great food because man Chef Paul
- 39:48Speaker 2: knocks it out of the park. It is tailgate food,
- 39:51Speaker 2: but it's the Chef Paul edition that Yeah, that's a
- 39:54Speaker 2: whole different level. Correct. This ain't your uncle Ray raised meatballs, Okay,
- 39:58Speaker 2: I mean this is this is good stuff. It's going
- 40:00Speaker 2: to be April the April, I'm sorry, It's going to
- 40:02Speaker 2: be August of twenty seventh. Indoors over about six is
- 40:05Speaker 2: that right? Correct? Yes, And you want to get there early.
- 40:08Speaker 2: And the reason I say that is because you know
- 40:10Speaker 2: you are at an airport or you're at an air facility,
- 40:13Speaker 2: I should say, so there when you know, they have
- 40:16Speaker 2: to line everybody up and then you can't just like
- 40:18Speaker 2: walk in because the FAA stuff, you know, so they'll
- 40:21Speaker 2: kind of guide everybody in. And as I said, the
- 40:23Speaker 2: planes are on display and they're just doing fantastic things, Robert,
- 40:27Speaker 2: as you know at the build No Flight school up
- 40:29Speaker 2: there through Marshall University, and the planes are at their display.
- 40:31Speaker 2: You can take a look at them. You can't get
- 40:33Speaker 2: at them and drive them around. Ask theeve animal how
- 40:35Speaker 2: he knows that. Uh but uh, but but you can
- 40:37Speaker 2: do that and just enjoy a great, great time. Herd

- 47:52Speaker 2: I want to get to. Jack Carlson has the story
- 47:55Speaker 2: post at wv metronews dot com. Google already making some
- 48:00Speaker 2: news in Putnam County where they plan to build a
- 48:02Speaker 2: data center. Google teaming up with eighty four Lumber to
- 48:05Speaker 2: give money other supplies to Buffalo Elementary and high schools,
- 48:10Speaker 2: George Washington Middle and Elementary schools again in Putnam County,
- 48:15Speaker 2: the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department in the Buffalo Senior Center.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Again not just Google, it's eighty four Lumber getting involved
- 48:20Speaker 2: in this as well. We'll have a full list of
- 48:22Speaker 2: exactly what they're going to be doing. It actually is
- 48:25Speaker 2: posted as part of Jack's story at wv metronews dot com.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Programming note, the director of the Putnam County Development Authority,
- 48:31Speaker 2: Morgan Teney, is going to join us on midday to
- 48:35Speaker 2: talk about it tomorrow. Chris Lawrence caught up with Patrick
- 48:40Speaker 2: Lahey of the Codloseem and Convention Center about the issues
- 48:42Speaker 2: with the Billy Strings concert at the Conloseum the other night.
- 48:45Speaker 2: You can read that story at wv metronews dot com.
- 48:47Speaker 2: It sounds like there were a lot of issues all around.
- 48:50Speaker 2: There were a lot of rumors that both entrances to
- 48:52Speaker 2: the Kyloseum were not open. Mister Lahey says that's not
- 48:55Speaker 2: the case. And during that interview, and we can read
- 49:00Speaker 2: the story again w metronews dot com, Patrick Lahey of
- 49:03Speaker 2: the Colosseum says that typically most artists understand that it's
- 49:07Speaker 2: about a ninety minute process to get people through the door.
- 49:11Speaker 2: The Billy Strings people wanted a sixty minute window instead
- 49:14Speaker 2: of a ninety minute window, so there's that. There was
- 49:17Speaker 2: also no opening act, so the party started literally at
- 49:22Speaker 2: around nine that morning, and a lot of people just
- 49:26Speaker 2: didn't want to go in early, and then they all
- 49:28Speaker 2: tried to go in at one time, which is going
- 49:30Speaker 2: to be problematic. Plus he reports there are people trying
- 49:32Speaker 2: to bring in things you can't and it was a
- 49:35Speaker 2: sold out show, so add to that. In the end,
- 49:38Speaker 2: though once people got in. I'm told it was a
- 49:40Speaker 2: fantastic concert. I wasn't there. A couple of my friends were.
- 49:43Speaker 2: I saw some videos posted. It looks like it was
- 49:46Speaker 2: absolutely fantastic. So you can read more about it at
- 49:50Speaker 2: on Chris's story at WV Metronews dot com. Ladies and gentlemen,

- 50:06Speaker 17: you know. I have a very particular set of skills.
- 50:08Speaker 17: People think I just do this and have a pretty face.

- 50:30Speaker 2: it later day on midday as well. The whole thing.
- 50:32Speaker 2: What's what's what's What's been the big topic this week,
- 50:35Speaker 2: you know, the flot cameras of the data centers of
- 50:37Speaker 2: this week has been the clothing vouchers. Yeah, and uh,
- 50:41Speaker 2: you know, you guys talked about it. We talked about it.
- 50:44Speaker 2: I mean, there's still a whole lot of a whole
- 50:46Speaker 2: lot of questions. And I'll be honest with you, this
- 50:48Speaker 2: is editorial comment for me. I don't know that what
- 50:50Speaker 2: we are, what's coming out from the governor at this
- 50:53Speaker 2: point is is really helping the matter. In my opinion,
- 50:56Speaker 2: with all due respect, with all due respect, this has
- 50:58Speaker 2: been botched from the start. It's been botched.
- 51:03Speaker 17: It was about a financial crisis back in May that
- 51:08Speaker 17: can't be proven based on the numbers, and then we
- 51:11Speaker 17: shift the focus when that isn't resonating to this idea
- 51:15Speaker 17: of well fifty percent of these transactions are done and
- 51:18Speaker 17: converted to cash. What we don't release as part of
- 51:21Speaker 17: that is the twenty twenty two memo from the Department
- 51:24Speaker 17: of Health and Human Services that directed people to do that.
- 51:27Speaker 17: You're right, I read you're the memo MOSLP. You've been
- 51:30Speaker 17: governor for almost two years. If you don't know that's
- 51:32Speaker 17: going on and your department's been doing it, whose fault.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Is that they were actually directed, you know, in twenty
- 51:37Speaker 2: twenty two to do that. You just said the parents
- 51:38Speaker 2: were yeah, okay, all right.
- 51:40Speaker 17: Look man, I could poke holes in this thing all
- 51:42Speaker 17: day long, but I'll just put it this way. I'm
- 51:44Speaker 17: a business guy. If I were going into a boardroom
- 51:46Speaker 17: to make this pitch, I get laughed out of the boardroom.
- 51:48Speaker 17: There's so many holes in it. I wouldn't even make
- 51:50Speaker 17: it through the boardroom door with the water in the bucket.
- 51:52Speaker 2: What else you got on the show today?
- 51:53Speaker 17: We're going to talk about the Putnam County Buffalo Data
- 51:57Speaker 17: Center from Google. Eric tar Is going to join us,
- 51:59Speaker 17: going to kick that around a little bit. Will be
- 52:00Speaker 17: knee deep in tannaf yet again. Also check in with
- 52:04Speaker 17: Fox News find out what's happening in Washington. A lot
