- 1:39Speaker 2: It's getting spookier by the day. Well you were, you
- 1:42Speaker 2: were fits bumping over there, loves Halloween, got it?
- 1:47Speaker 7: You gotta do what's costume this year?
- 1:49Speaker 2: I'll tell you, break, Victoria, break, it's serious. The mom's
- 1:56Speaker 2: headed to school.
- 1:57Speaker 8: She's a teacher, so well she might be listening, but
- 2:01Speaker 8: uh we we got to finalize yesterday last night.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Good good. Is it going to be a secret for
- 2:06Speaker 2: all the friends and fam Mmm? Yeah, oh yeah, okay.
- 2:10Speaker 8: We do Halloween like costume contest at the party, we
- 2:14Speaker 8: all show up.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Okay, all right, good? So is this one of those situations?
- 2:18Speaker 2: How long? What's the longest you've ever been in the
- 2:19Speaker 2: makeup chair?
- 2:21Speaker 8: So a couple of years ago, I was Joe Biden,
- 2:26Speaker 8: and I like, I did not wear a white wig.
- 2:29Speaker 8: I did my hair white. It took about four or
- 2:31Speaker 8: five cans of.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Like the white. Okay, it was so it's just the
- 2:35Speaker 2: spray paint. You didn't even like diet white. No, no, no, no,
- 2:39Speaker 2: commit to the bi man die in it.
- 2:43Speaker 8: I was like, it was a Sunday night and I
- 2:45Speaker 8: had to come to work the next day.
- 2:46Speaker 2: And I was like, well, you had as many days
- 2:50Speaker 2: as you've been alive to prepare for it up to
- 2:51Speaker 2: that point. I didn't have to wait the they have.
- 2:56Speaker 2: It's very fair, all right, Well, I don't know what
- 3:01Speaker 2: I'm dressing up as yet, So I'm excited because, uh,
- 3:06Speaker 2: every day is a little bit spookier. Now we're still
- 3:08Speaker 2: getting I haven't haven't carved the pumpkin yet. We're still
- 3:12Speaker 2: waiting because, like I said, they don't make pumpkins like
- 3:14Speaker 2: they used to. As soon as you cut it, you
- 3:16Speaker 2: got a seven you got a seven day expiration. Tops.
- 3:21Speaker 2: But I'm excited about That's one of my favorite days
- 3:25Speaker 2: of the year. One of my favorite activities of the
- 3:26Speaker 2: year is carving that pumpkin. I haven't found my kids
- 3:29Speaker 2: haven't found the love yet for it. But I have
- 3:32Speaker 2: liked to get the seeds out. I like to think
- 3:34Speaker 2: that we like to roast the seeds as well, but
- 3:36Speaker 2: I don't think we've actually done it in like five years.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I got like, I got good core memories
- 3:42Speaker 2: of doing that as a kid.
- 3:43Speaker 6: Really yeah, risking the pumpkin seeds. It's a little season
- 3:46Speaker 6: and on out.
- 3:46Speaker 2: To Alvin and Ruth overachieving there. I know, well done,
- 3:51Speaker 2: y'all Ever done that? Anybody?
- 3:52Speaker 7: Yeah, I've done it.
- 3:53Speaker 6: Okay, I just go to the gas station and get
- 3:55Speaker 6: pumpkin seeds. You know, Ah, you can't hide it.
- 3:58Speaker 7: Can't have money.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I thought I would crave pumpkin seeds.
- 4:02Speaker 7: We had to make our own, make our own, go
- 4:06Speaker 7: to the gas.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Station and you know, yeah, and say I purchased them.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Guys who eats pumpkin seeds? But I mean not a
- 4:15Speaker 2: lot of people except for like when they're carving a pumpkin.
- 4:17Speaker 9: I guess I went through a phase rose into the
- 4:19Speaker 9: pumpkin seeds, like an elementary school situation. Yeah, I would
- 4:24Speaker 9: get pumpkin seeds and I would chew on pumpkin seeds.
- 4:28Speaker 7: Yeah, I went through a phase where I liked them.
- 4:29Speaker 2: For some ever had them.
- 4:31Speaker 8: It was elementary. It was like fourth grade. We did
- 4:33Speaker 8: something in math. Don't ask me why that equal pumpkin carving,
- 4:37Speaker 8: but it did. And like we had to to carve it,
- 4:39Speaker 8: pull the seeds out, and you like did like the
- 4:41Speaker 8: little microwave thing and they tasted like popcorn.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Blew my mind. So like when you bought pumpkin seeds
- 4:48Speaker 2: at the gas station, like that big Bucks over here,
- 4:55Speaker 2: do you like? So when you roast them in the oven,
- 4:57Speaker 2: you like you just crisp them up to where you
- 4:59Speaker 2: eat the whole thing. Like if you get them at
- 5:01Speaker 2: the gas station, are you like cracking them.
- 5:03Speaker 7: Like, I don't remember. I think I was cracking them.
- 5:07Speaker 9: This is like a very short time in my life
- 5:09Speaker 9: where I just was like into pumpkin seeds instead of
- 5:12Speaker 9: some flower seeds.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Changing.
- 5:14Speaker 9: Yeah, probably around third grade playing some softball.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yeah, got some seeds.
- 5:20Speaker 7: Yeah, it would be pumpkin seeds. I don't know why,
- 5:21Speaker 7: but I was into it.
- 5:22Speaker 6: It's funny because like I don't I don't just randomly
- 5:25Speaker 6: eat some flower seeds ever, But like when you're coaching baseball,
- 5:28Speaker 6: we've all gone through the sunflower fall.
- 5:31Speaker 7: I keep them in my car.
- 5:32Speaker 6: When I coach baseball, I got seeds and I gotta
- 5:35Speaker 6: have seeds.
- 5:36Speaker 7: What flavor though, or just normal?
- 5:38Speaker 2: We switch it up. We go taco bell, we go,
- 5:41Speaker 2: I go pickle.
- 5:43Speaker 6: Ranches, I'll go barbecue, I'll go whatever.
- 5:47Speaker 7: I usually go, rancher till pickle.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Which brand are y'all choose?
- 5:50Speaker 7: And if you're sitting there, what was the standard one called?
- 5:53Speaker 7: I forget? Yeah?
- 5:56Speaker 2: I like the uh that yeah, I mean that's that
- 5:59Speaker 2: was let's be yeah yeah chinook.
- 6:03Speaker 7: Yeah, I like that.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Those guys are great. It feels like that.
- 6:08Speaker 6: Feels like at a conference, a big, big time conference.
- 6:12Speaker 6: So you're kind of there with all the vendors.
- 6:14Speaker 2: We were there with all the I think the sports dieticians,
- 6:17Speaker 2: college football sports diititians, and yeah, we're at a conference
- 6:21Speaker 2: and one of those deals were you know, you're at
- 6:22Speaker 2: a conference. You're at a hotel lobby, mucketed up with
- 6:25Speaker 2: all the other vendors and we're there to see a
- 6:29Speaker 2: little networking, maybe a couple of cold pops going down.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And uh, turns out that the factory for Chinook's sedery
- 6:37Speaker 2: is in Tyler, Texas.
- 6:39Speaker 6: Oh look at that, all right, so you might have
- 6:42Speaker 6: been like a legend of those guys.
- 6:44Speaker 2: No, they don't know who you are. I thought, maybe
- 6:49Speaker 2: I give you a chance.
- 6:51Speaker 9: We're really into the Halloween spirit though this shirt it
- 6:54Speaker 9: had skeletons on it, but I don't know if they
- 6:57Speaker 9: like faded or maybe they're glowing the dark. But it
- 6:59Speaker 9: had skeletons on it last year.
- 7:01Speaker 7: Okay, so we're we're in the vibe.
- 7:04Speaker 2: They disintegrated, I became skeleton ghosts.
- 7:09Speaker 6: We we still haven't decided on what costume we're gonna
- 7:12Speaker 6: do here, wolf back mm hmm eighteen.
- 7:20Speaker 2: No, Like.
- 7:24Speaker 6: It's just mister T Like nobody else is gonna be like,
- 7:28Speaker 6: you know, that's who's that guy. Yeah, that's the problem.
- 7:34Speaker 6: More people, that's the first idea. More people are recognizable.
- 7:39Speaker 6: Fantastic four.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I do like that one. I mean you're gonna be
- 7:44Speaker 2: in the makeup chair for that one.
- 7:46Speaker 8: Depends on who I am five minutes.
- 7:50Speaker 2: If I'm the.
- 7:51Speaker 6: Rock guy like six out, that's his name, the thing,
- 7:54Speaker 6: If anybody's the thing, I think it's going to be
- 7:56Speaker 6: more like me.
- 7:58Speaker 7: You probably have the I got.
- 8:00Speaker 2: A turtle back, you know, yeah, head shape, headsize different.
- 8:08Speaker 9: Some this is someone such a Daniel said that in
- 8:12Speaker 9: the chat just now. Wizard of Oz has been my
- 8:15Speaker 9: favorite idea thrown out there.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Another good one.
- 8:19Speaker 6: Uh, did Flynn play with Cedric Benson in high school?
- 8:22Speaker 2: No, Sedric went to Midland Lee Middle so he was
- 8:24Speaker 2: Roberty Lee High School in Midland. I was Roberty Lee
- 8:28Speaker 2: High School in Tyler, Texas, and I was Tyler Lee.
- 8:30Speaker 2: He was middle And there was another guy named Drew
- 8:32Speaker 2: Tate then went to high schools out there. Damn you
- 8:38Speaker 2: Drew Tate, Damn you are you ready for Midland Lee?
- 8:44Speaker 6: Drew Tate throwing a hell Mary in a meaningless bowl game,
- 8:47Speaker 6: but a mint a lot to us. Sure it did,
- 8:48Speaker 6: all right, it's our last game with Coach daven win
- 8:54Speaker 6: one for the gipp.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 6: When you press your MoU mute button and then you talk,
- 8:59Speaker 6: it's not gonna come out.
- 9:00Speaker 2: That worked for it.
- 9:01Speaker 7: Going, what just happened over there?
- 9:02Speaker 2: Well, I was about to take a coffee.
- 9:04Speaker 6: And then he started talking to the microphone, holding his
- 9:06Speaker 6: mute button down.
- 9:08Speaker 2: And now I was going to talk all that time.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I love that words just come out. Sometimes words are
- 9:12Speaker 2: so easy for me. You'll get it.
- 9:14Speaker 7: Well, yeah, you make them up all the time. That's
- 9:16Speaker 7: how easy they are.
- 9:18Speaker 2: You're a published dartership.
- 9:21Speaker 6: Let's go, he is he is well done?
- 9:25Speaker 2: All right? Uh so we do have a ton to
- 9:27Speaker 2: get to today.

- 9:35Speaker 6: I'm gonna walk you to doctor Ethridge when he comes

- 12:55Speaker 6: I'm actually gonna be listening to the show because the
- 12:58Speaker 6: R and B Wednesday, I don't really care how bad
- 12:59Speaker 6: you yeah are good?
- 13:01Speaker 2: You know what? Tuesday and Wednesday arguably the best music days,
- 13:04Speaker 2: Yeah for sure, eighties Tuesday, R and B Wednesday.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Now yeah, yeah, because you know we're at a studio
- 13:10Speaker 6: for a lot of Thursdays there and uh, this last week.
- 13:16Speaker 2: And I know we had like a lot of new
- 13:19Speaker 2: video elements.
- 13:19Speaker 6: And by the way, shout out to Alandra for getting
- 13:23Speaker 6: that done again having and Tatay the whole team for
- 13:27Speaker 6: having Spencer Rattler on video.
- 13:29Speaker 2: That was incredible. I can't believe it actually like looks
- 13:33Speaker 2: smooth and seamless. But it was a lot of work
- 13:35Speaker 2: and a lot of work.
- 13:35Speaker 6: Behind the scenes by Alandra, Tata and the whole crew.
- 13:40Speaker 6: But Adam was so nervous about it, he kept cutting
- 13:43Speaker 6: the music off like immediately, I'm like, whoa, that's half
- 13:45Speaker 6: the reason we show up here, Bud to do the show,
- 13:48Speaker 6: and by about seventy.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Nine percent of the reason.
- 13:52Speaker 7: While we show up to do sure we get to
- 13:54Speaker 7: like real stuff.
- 13:55Speaker 9: I did the Hunt Palmer Show Monday afternoon, and whenever
- 14:01Speaker 9: I do Hunt show, I just play like Matchbox twenty
- 14:04Speaker 9: or like well Googo dolls, because that's what rights, that's
- 14:08Speaker 9: what Hunt likes, So that's what I played. But I
- 14:10Speaker 9: had played the wallflowers and then I was doing something
- 14:14Speaker 9: during the break, so I didn't pick a different song.
- 14:16Speaker 9: So I played the same song twice and I was like,
- 14:18Speaker 9: he said, he guessed it was the Wallflowers. I was like,
- 14:21Speaker 9: I'm so proud of you. He was like, you can't
- 14:23Speaker 9: stump me with nineties music. And I said, you said
- 14:26Speaker 9: Vertical Horizon was Matchbox twenty one time, so I can.
- 14:31Speaker 7: But I was.
- 14:32Speaker 9: I was like, oh, I played it again because I
- 14:34Speaker 9: didn't have something ready to go, and he was like
- 14:37Speaker 9: that's fine. And I was like, oh, you don't care
- 14:38Speaker 9: as much as Jake and Matt Doo and he was like,
- 14:40Speaker 9: I don't care at all.
- 14:41Speaker 6: I was like, wow, and it chows Hunt and it
- 14:46Speaker 6: shows I'm assuming you went everything you want by Vertical Horizon.
- 14:50Speaker 9: He got it wrong that yeah, it was that song,
- 14:52Speaker 9: but it was I had played it on off the
- 14:54Speaker 9: bench and he was in the chat like match Box twenty.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Saying that Hunt, I think here of those sports shows
- 15:01Speaker 2: about the music, right.
- 15:02Speaker 9: He doesn't, Well, that's that's actually that's offensive.
- 15:06Speaker 7: It is. I was very offendive. I told him I
- 15:08Speaker 7: was never going to do the Hunt Palmer show.
- 15:10Speaker 6: If you ever do if you ever have to do
- 15:12Speaker 6: Hunt show again, he does enjoy Little Black Backpack. Yeah,
- 15:16Speaker 6: that's one of his favorite songs. And so just have
- 15:19Speaker 6: that in your in your belt buckle there. Yeah, all right,

- 16:40Speaker 2: because it's it's cold outside. Whatever, well you do. So
- 16:43Speaker 2: if you haven't ever done an IV, go to go
- 16:46Speaker 2: flow iv SPA right there on Jefferson Highway. Check out
- 16:49Speaker 2: their website, go flow iv dot com. Check out their menu,
- 16:51Speaker 2: their lists. Didn't I be all right?
- 16:55Speaker 6: Uh? And yes I am. I am leaving today. I
- 16:58Speaker 6: do have to go give a a safety talk. It's
- 17:01Speaker 6: like a safety conference and they're integrating football into the
- 17:04Speaker 6: safety talk.
- 17:04Speaker 2: And so that's what I'm going to do. And we've
- 17:07Speaker 2: got a couple of from a guy that played football
- 17:09Speaker 2: that didn't care.
- 17:09Speaker 6: About his safety. Yeah, we'll get there, we'll get there.
- 17:12Speaker 6: A couple of great comments inside the chat. Jake's safety talk.
- 17:15Speaker 6: You got to cover both ends of the football when
- 17:17Speaker 6: you feel that pressure. Love that, uh, Jake safety talk.
- 17:21Speaker 6: Don't ever be like Flinn and drive with your flashers
- 17:24Speaker 6: on in the rain. That's also that's also a very
- 17:27Speaker 6: very good one.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Not true at all.
- 17:29Speaker 6: Well, M feels like it because nobody else does that. Jake,
- 17:35Speaker 6: make sure you do the safety dance.
- 17:37Speaker 2: What do you want to lead?
- 17:38Speaker 4: Like?
- 17:38Speaker 2: What's your they're gonna lead with? I mean, what if
- 17:41Speaker 2: they're listening right now? That's true. You wanted to be
- 17:43Speaker 2: a surprise?
- 17:44Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I don't want to, you know, I
- 17:45Speaker 6: don't being safe at work. Well, then may be on
- 17:50Speaker 6: their way to the conference. Maybe they're in the cars.
- 17:53Speaker 6: I got a couple of singers, you know, a couple
- 17:57Speaker 6: of laughs, got a couple of singers ready to go.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I would. And when you're talking to a group of
- 18:01Speaker 2: people like that, you're giving a speech, like if you
- 18:03Speaker 2: get if you tell a joke that you think is
- 18:06Speaker 2: pretty good, Oh, we've been there, and you get like
- 18:08Speaker 2: ten percent of the crowd to laugh, Like what percentage
- 18:11Speaker 2: of the crowd laughing? Ten? I just need it ten?
- 18:13Speaker 2: That's it.
- 18:14Speaker 6: Ten's not great, but I need ten tens a minimum
- 18:17Speaker 6: to keep keep you going confidently. Yeah, if you get
- 18:21Speaker 6: like fifty, it's like, all right, well I'm I'm floating
- 18:25Speaker 6: a conversation.
- 18:26Speaker 2: That's right.
- 18:26Speaker 6: Let me then I turned into Rodney Dangerfield. Shoot from
- 18:29Speaker 6: the hip of these jokes now in my mind. Yes,
- 18:32Speaker 6: So looking forward to it, we'll see it goes. I
- 18:34Speaker 6: mean there's only two ways, really yeah, good or bad.
- 18:37Speaker 6: This is a results oriented world.
- 18:39Speaker 2: That's right. And so I'll give you an update tomorrow
- 18:41Speaker 2: on the show.
- 18:42Speaker 6: All right, LSU and Vanderbilt and Nashville and the points.
- 18:46Speaker 6: Bread's actually kind of gone up since we talked about it.
- 18:50Speaker 2: I think it was you know, what, was it a
- 18:52Speaker 2: point and a half?
- 18:53Speaker 6: I believe now up to two and a half in
- 18:55Speaker 6: favor of Vanderbilt and TATA. You'll know this because I've
- 18:59Speaker 6: seen a lot of different graphics, and this is the
- 19:01Speaker 6: first time Vanderbilt's favorite since blah blah blah seventy something years.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Did I see the first time that Vanderbilt favored?
- 19:07Speaker 8: They've played a top ten team seventy seven times ever,
- 19:13Speaker 8: first time they've ever been favored against the top ten team?
- 19:16Speaker 2: Is it this Saturday? I don't know.
- 19:20Speaker 6: And LSU, if I'm not mistaken, hasn't lost to Vanderbilt
- 19:23Speaker 6: since nineteen ninety I think I think that's the.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Year that I have on it.
- 19:28Speaker 6: And LSU actually scored to win the game, but got
- 19:31Speaker 6: called for OPI, so the touchdown didn't count, and that
- 19:34Speaker 6: unt how he lost that game.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And if my mind is remembering.
- 19:38Speaker 6: Right, you lost either twenty four to twenty one or
- 19:40Speaker 6: twenty four to twenty So it's the last time that
- 19:43Speaker 6: you lost two Vanderbilt. So you don't play him every year.
- 19:46Speaker 6: So the stat is a little misleading. But it's been
- 19:50Speaker 6: thirty five years. Two people in this room were not
- 19:53Speaker 6: born the last time that Vanderbilt beat lsu I was.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I was five. You were five. It's been a long time. Now.
- 20:05Speaker 6: We can also say this isn't your granddad's Vandy, this
- 20:08Speaker 6: isn't your dad's Vandy, this isn't your Fandy. This is
- 20:11Speaker 6: a new Vandy. And they've had a couple of moments
- 20:15Speaker 6: here and there. You know, James Franklin, for we went
- 20:17Speaker 6: to Penn State. Like they were a very respectable team
- 20:20Speaker 6: when we were in school. They weren't to this level,
- 20:23Speaker 6: but you know, they had bad body language, Jay and
- 20:26Speaker 6: they were okay and they you know, six games and
- 20:30Speaker 6: they get frisky and they could jump up and they
- 20:32Speaker 6: could beat you. So they've had moments this though, certainly
- 20:36Speaker 6: in my lifetime This is by far the highest level
- 20:39Speaker 6: that Vanderbilt's ever been able to achieve.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Yeah, this is when you think of, you know, programs
- 20:47Speaker 2: like Vanderbilt, like you talked about when Jay Cutler was there,
- 20:49Speaker 2: they would have flashes, like he'd go out there and
- 20:51Speaker 2: throw for four hundred yards and he'd have these good games.
- 20:53Speaker 2: He played well enough to be like a first round
- 20:55Speaker 2: pick and multiple multiple, multiple year starter in the NFL,
- 20:59Speaker 2: and you know, strangely had a decent amount of success
- 21:02Speaker 2: relatively speaking, I guess in the NFL. But you don't
- 21:06Speaker 2: look at Vanderbilt ever as a program that can have
- 21:09Speaker 2: sustained success, like be able to not just be a
- 21:13Speaker 2: flash in the pan every now and then have a
- 21:15Speaker 2: good game here there maybe like knock off a big
- 21:17Speaker 2: boy like every now and then once every five years
- 21:19Speaker 2: or whatever. But okay, we saw him last year. Okay,
- 21:23Speaker 2: we'll beat Alabama. Man, these guys are good. Diego Pavia
- 21:26Speaker 2: pretty good. Like is this just Diego elevating his team
- 21:31Speaker 2: to an emotional high for a couple of weeks and
- 21:33Speaker 2: having some really good games. Well, no, Clark Lee has
- 21:36Speaker 2: come in and started establishing a really dynamic program, and
- 21:39Speaker 2: of course, like everybody in this new world and this
- 21:42Speaker 2: new geography of college football. Like it's different in the
- 21:50Speaker 2: NIL world because you can We've talked about how the
- 21:53Speaker 2: parody all over is a lot better because you got
- 21:56Speaker 2: guys that when we originally started talking about NIL was
- 21:59Speaker 2: a going to make everybody top heavy. Well it's done
- 22:01Speaker 2: the opposite. It's made it really it's kind of spread
- 22:04Speaker 2: players out throughout the game.
- 22:06Speaker 6: I mean, Diego Pavia doesn't find his way to Vanderbilt, No,
- 22:08Speaker 6: of course, I mean because you don't go take a
- 22:10Speaker 6: chance on the New Mexico State quarterback Elis st Hours.
- 22:14Speaker 6: They're all American tight end. You know how he started
- 22:16Speaker 6: his college career playing quarterback for Jimbo at Texas A
- 22:19Speaker 6: and M. You know, then he goes to tight end
- 22:21Speaker 6: in New Mexico State, find way to Vanderbilt. Right like
- 22:24Speaker 6: that that guy doesn't happen. We don't know who that
- 22:26Speaker 6: guy is. Now he's in All American. Yeah, exactly.
- 22:29Speaker 2: So people are getting so many more opportunities, So many
- 22:31Speaker 2: programs are having so many opportunities. But still it's a
- 22:34Speaker 2: results oriented world in college football. You have to be
- 22:38Speaker 2: able to take those pieces and be able to be successful.
- 22:41Speaker 2: So you have to build a program and Clark Lee
- 22:43Speaker 2: has done that. You talk about it. You love the guy,
- 22:45Speaker 2: an old fullback coming in there and creating a culture.
- 22:51Speaker 2: So when I watch this team on film, I see
- 22:54Speaker 2: a very well rounded team on the offensive side of
- 22:57Speaker 2: the ball and the defensive side of the ball, I've
- 22:59Speaker 2: see a very well coached team. Oh, a very versatile team.
- 23:03Speaker 2: They do everything. So they're gonna run, they're gonna play
- 23:07Speaker 2: act like their game planning. On the offensive side of
- 23:10Speaker 2: the ball, it's run here, zone here, zone, read, rpo, play,
- 23:13Speaker 2: actra pass, short stuff, deep shots. They like, they do
- 23:16Speaker 2: everything now. They don't do everything perfectly, but they're well coached.
- 23:20Speaker 2: The guys are where they're supposed to be running backs
- 23:22Speaker 2: when high effort to high super high efforts. So they're
- 23:26Speaker 2: very well coached. So when the running backs don't have
- 23:28Speaker 2: a when they're in pass protection and they don't have
- 23:31Speaker 2: a linebacker blitz, they get out right now like they
- 23:33Speaker 2: do a lot of things that I love watching. And
- 23:36Speaker 2: on defense, they're gonna run cover one, two, three, four, six,
- 23:39Speaker 2: they're gonna run zero, They're gonna pressure you, they're gonna play,
- 23:42Speaker 2: they're gonna drop eight, they're gonna rush six like they
- 23:45Speaker 2: do everything, so there's not just like one thing like
- 23:48Speaker 2: last week in South Carolina, Like, well, they do a
- 23:50Speaker 2: lot of one high, they do a lot of press.
- 23:51Speaker 2: They like to play aggressively, and if they don't do that,
- 23:53Speaker 2: they kind of play a shell coverage. Not great, but
- 23:57Speaker 2: like Vanderbilt is, their guys are where they need to
- 23:59Speaker 2: be when they need to be. Then now there's some
- 24:01Speaker 2: things that work to work on. I think overall they
- 24:04Speaker 2: still operate with a talent deficit in the Southeastern Conference,
- 24:09Speaker 2: but they're very well coached. And then oh yeah, with
- 24:12Speaker 2: a well coached team that's disciplined, with a really good
- 24:15Speaker 2: coach that's running a program and setting a culture and
- 24:18Speaker 2: setting a standard there At Vanderbilt, they have a caveman
- 24:22Speaker 2: quarterback that goes out there and basically with his play
- 24:26Speaker 2: he's like the college college football version of like the
- 24:30Speaker 2: the bad little Kid Damari Davis camp Scott. He's like
- 24:34Speaker 2: that at quarterback. Yeah, in a little bit different of
- 24:38Speaker 2: a way, but it's, uh, it's pretty entertaining to watch.
- 24:42Speaker 2: But he demands energy from the rest of his team,
- 24:45Speaker 2: and uh, no doubt, it's it's fun to watch. Like
- 24:47Speaker 2: you'll see he'll complete a pass in the flat and
- 24:50Speaker 2: he'll trail the pass and if there's a pile, he'll
- 24:52Speaker 2: go hit a defender on the pile. It's like, you
- 24:55Speaker 2: never did that. Yeah, I didn't do that because I
- 24:57Speaker 2: didn't know, like quarterback could do that. I don't know.
- 25:01Speaker 2: So I got a couple of clips that once Jake's gone,
- 25:04Speaker 2: once the cat's away, fine, wow, maybe we'll get into
- 25:07Speaker 2: a little bit of film.
- 25:07Speaker 6: I think you're actually pretty excited, y'all think he's pretty
- 25:10Speaker 6: like he's you know, these quarterbacks they got these egos,
- 25:13Speaker 6: and he's like, I get to be in the cat.
- 25:14Speaker 2: I'm the captain now. I think he's really I shouldn't
- 25:17Speaker 2: have like, I shouldn't have talked for the last five
- 25:18Speaker 2: minutes about material.
- 25:21Speaker 6: Just redo it because every hour is different, It's true. Yeah,
- 25:25Speaker 6: everybody kind of listens typically in like twelve minutes. Yeah, chat,
- 25:30Speaker 6: they saw Loyal for three hours, which we appreciate absolutely. Anyway,
- 25:35Speaker 6: It's uh, it's it's fun to it's fun to watch
- 25:37Speaker 6: them just because of the versatility they have. They don't
- 25:41Speaker 6: just do one thing.
- 25:41Speaker 2: They don't have like one identity that they have to
- 25:45Speaker 2: go to and lean on. They do everything well in
- 25:47Speaker 2: the right spots, high effort, and like I really do
- 25:51Speaker 2: believe that if Clark Lee doesn't like leave to take
- 25:56Speaker 2: a bigger job, like this is a program that if
- 25:59Speaker 2: they keep getting the talent, of course they have to
- 26:01Speaker 2: have it. Like they keep gaining talent, this is going
- 26:03Speaker 2: to be a program that is can enjoy sustained success.
- 26:07Speaker 6: I'm gonna keep some clock integrity here, but I do
- 26:10Speaker 6: want to kind of go back to that fact about
- 26:12Speaker 6: Clark Lee, Nashville Vanderbilt, what he's done, what they could do,
- 26:18Speaker 6: and I just some more stuff about their team and
- 26:20Speaker 6: defensively and their coordinator all of that. So we'll continue
- 26:24Speaker 6: breaking down LSU versus Vanderbilt when we come back here
- 26:27Speaker 6: on OTB Off the bench, all right, go to Boudroxelectrical

- 29:32Speaker 9: Also sign up for the tailgate giveaway on one of
- 29:35Speaker 9: four five ESPN dot com.
- 29:37Speaker 6: Doread corread spread cover, the break cover, the spread old.
- 29:43Speaker 6: All right, l s U Vanderbilt in Nashville. We're talking
- 29:46Speaker 6: about their program right now. And look, Clark Lee, his
- 29:49Speaker 6: name is going to be attached to it, like Penn
- 29:50Speaker 6: State and all these big jobs that are going to
- 29:52Speaker 6: open up. I would assume Florida and probably Florida State's
- 29:56Speaker 6: gonna be opening here pretty soon. But but we have
- 30:01Speaker 6: to remember he was a player at Vanderbilt. That's where
- 30:03Speaker 6: he played full back AP was Vanderbilt, and he understands
- 30:08Speaker 6: the challenges that Vanderbilt had. He understands it because he
- 30:11Speaker 6: went through it. He's seen it firsthand, and I think
- 30:14Speaker 6: he embraced those challenges. And they're doing things that they've
- 30:17Speaker 6: never done before. They're building buildings and they're having a
- 30:20Speaker 6: football operations only facility for them. They're upgrading their stadium
- 30:24Speaker 6: finally that hadn't been touched in over fifty years before
- 30:28Speaker 6: they did the latest renovation. So I mean Vanderbilt means
- 30:32Speaker 6: something to him. And also like in this new day
- 30:34Speaker 6: and age of nil and transfer portal, like, I gotta
- 30:37Speaker 6: imagine Nashville helps you out a little bit too. I mean,
- 30:40Speaker 6: you will talk about opportunities. I mean, Nashville's the fastest
- 30:43Speaker 6: growing city in the country. You can't go there and
- 30:45Speaker 6: not see a thousand cranes any direction that you look at.
- 30:49Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 30:50Speaker 6: I mean where he's got this program, the fact that
- 30:52Speaker 6: he played there, it means something to them. I think
- 30:55Speaker 6: he could stay there and get everything that he would
- 30:58Speaker 6: want if he went to even a Penn State.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Maybe what's I mean, I guess what what's his contrary,
- 31:03Speaker 2: how much is he getting paid right now?
- 31:05Speaker 6: I would it's not in the upper year three for
- 31:10Speaker 6: him or your four four this year four, yeah.
- 31:14Speaker 2: I would. I mean, of course, at the end of
- 31:16Speaker 2: the day, no matter, you could talk about loyalty, you
- 31:18Speaker 2: could talk about I love it here, it's the greatest
- 31:20Speaker 2: place to live. At the end of the day, it
- 31:22Speaker 2: does come down to dollars and cents. So if like
- 31:24Speaker 2: Vanderbilt can if they can't leave, if they can get close.
- 31:27Speaker 2: I'm not saying like it you can take less for
- 31:30Speaker 2: places you love, for place that mean something to you.
- 31:33Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, if they're penn
- 31:35Speaker 2: State's going to pay you double, like, there's there's something
- 31:38Speaker 2: to be said for that. Yeah, now, you there's maybe
- 31:41Speaker 2: there's other ways to intrigue him or entice him or
- 31:44Speaker 2: compensate him. But you were right. I mean, Nashville makes
- 31:49Speaker 2: a huge difference. Certainly there's no state tax there as well.
- 31:53Speaker 2: So you got that Pennsylvania. I know it doesn't have none.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 31:59Speaker 6: I know it doesn't have he's making and he's making
- 32:01Speaker 6: a little bit over three million dollars any signed per year,
- 32:04Speaker 6: and he signed through twenty twenty nine, So that's set's
- 32:07Speaker 6: in the very lower half.
- 32:08Speaker 2: So I mean, you got a Penn State that, if
- 32:10Speaker 2: they wanted.
- 32:10Speaker 6: It, it's probably ten million, ten million a year, So
- 32:13Speaker 6: Vanderbilt would have to do a triple A salary, triple
- 32:16Speaker 6: A salary, so they would have to do something. Three
- 32:20Speaker 6: million is not through twenty twenty nine, is not keeping
- 32:23Speaker 6: Clark Lee. No, from what I've seen, like we can.
- 32:27Speaker 6: Before I actually kind of started diving into the tape
- 32:29Speaker 6: a little bit, it was more like, Okay, how much
- 32:31Speaker 6: of this is just Diego Pavia just being an absolute
- 32:34Speaker 6: just menace out there, or how much of this is
- 32:38Speaker 6: being well coached? And it is a it's a really
- 32:40Speaker 6: well coached team. And to turn Vanderbilt, of all places,
- 32:43Speaker 6: Vanderbilt into sustained success for two seasons in a row,
- 32:47Speaker 6: of being relevant, of being dangerous, Yeah, you got him.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Favored against LSU. I don't care if it's an LSU
- 32:56Speaker 2: that's struggling it. It's still a one loss top ten,
- 32:59Speaker 2: one loss LSU team, and you're the favorite. Yeah, like Vanderbilt,
- 33:06Speaker 2: three million ain't gonna cut it. I'm sorry, Penn State's
- 33:08Speaker 2: gonna come in and off from ten million if that's
- 33:11Speaker 2: who they want, right, I say, penn State. I'm kind
- 33:13Speaker 2: of like, you know, glossing over every big school that's
- 33:17Speaker 2: going to have an opening here pretty soon. But it's
- 33:21Speaker 2: but again, Nashville, like you said, you know, there's something
- 33:24Speaker 2: to be said for the wife and the families, you
- 33:26Speaker 2: know those. Nashville is pretty nice. I don't know if
- 33:28Speaker 2: I want to move to wherever?
- 33:29Speaker 6: Pennsylvania State College, State College City, State College, University Park,
- 33:36Speaker 6: University Park.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Yeah, Pennsylvania, Pa. Yep. And right now, it is so small.
- 33:43Speaker 6: They've got to drive over an hour I think an
- 33:45Speaker 6: hour and a half away to the closest airport because
- 33:49Speaker 6: it's so small that when they take these trips to
- 33:51Speaker 6: like La and Oregon and Washington to play their conference games,
- 33:59Speaker 6: the plane's too big for their runway, so they have
- 34:01Speaker 6: to change airports. Yeah, it's very difficult to get in
- 34:04Speaker 6: there and call a game, cover a game.
- 34:06Speaker 2: It's it's that small. Yeah, And why would you want
- 34:08Speaker 2: to go to a team where you have to fly
- 34:11Speaker 2: across the country to play conference games? Well, I wouldn't.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I wouldn't. I would want to say exactly where I'm at.
- 34:17Speaker 2: I'd like to say that, can you please just pay
- 34:20Speaker 2: me a little bit more. They're gonna have to. Yeah,
- 34:21Speaker 2: they're certainly going to have to different.
- 34:23Speaker 6: They're gonna have to get to I would say, at
- 34:28Speaker 6: least six and a half plus to keep I mean
- 34:30Speaker 6: to make it to keep them. Yeah, yeah, you're gonna
- 34:32Speaker 6: take least. But again, there's no state tax, so that's
- 34:34Speaker 6: one thing. But there also not Florida Florida jobs. Also,
- 34:38Speaker 6: cost of living though in Nashville compared to state college
- 34:42Speaker 6: to me. More So let's give them a hey, let's
- 34:44Speaker 6: give him seven and a half. Though, let's make it eight,
- 34:47Speaker 6: all right. So, uh yeah, because this is los a
- 34:51Speaker 6: different Vandy team, Flynn said it. I mean they do
- 34:53Speaker 6: a lot of a lot of things. Well, yeah, do
- 34:56Speaker 6: a lot of things. Well, I don't think they're great
- 34:58Speaker 6: at any one thing.
- 34:59Speaker 2: They just do a lot of things. Well, they're very sound. Yeah.
- 35:01Speaker 2: I think one thing I noticed that, you know, if
- 35:04Speaker 2: I had to pick something, their DB's play a little deep.
- 35:07Speaker 2: That's about they get too much depth in their zone coverages.
- 35:09Speaker 6: That's about all I really saw that stuck out to
- 35:12Speaker 6: me as a glaring deficit or glaring like something to
- 35:15Speaker 6: attack ty Simpson destroyed him.
- 35:19Speaker 2: There's playing too deep. He kept hitting like cover two,
- 35:21Speaker 2: kept hitting the whole shot, whule shot, whole shot. It's
- 35:24Speaker 2: beautiful all Dan's pretty good. Tode by the way, I
- 35:26Speaker 2: don't want to say that. Oh wow, this guy I
- 35:29Speaker 2: got on like I was on my office. I was
- 35:31Speaker 2: in the office yesterday just watching the bandy Alabama tape
- 35:35Speaker 2: and I get on the A nerd out on football stuff,
- 35:37Speaker 2: A nerd out on the beauty of football when everything
- 35:40Speaker 2: works the way it should be. And he got some
- 35:43Speaker 2: you know, well before eight you got some butt kickers
- 35:46Speaker 2: out there. And I was just texting the group chat,
- 35:50Speaker 2: just screenshot after screenshot. It's my bad, guys. I get
- 35:53Speaker 2: a little excited. You love Alabama. It's fine. Both good football.
- 35:57Speaker 6: Yeah yeah. That that combination block that you sent, that's
- 36:01Speaker 6: pretty good. Yeah, pretty good.
- 36:03Speaker 2: By the old Alabama offensive line. Dreams are made up there.
- 36:06Speaker 6: So you watching that Vanderbilt Alabama game, and I don't
- 36:09Speaker 6: know if you watched the totality of it, but you
- 36:10Speaker 6: watched enough.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Half which it was a tie ball game at first
- 36:14Speaker 2: in fourteen fourteen.
- 36:15Speaker 6: At the end of the first well that's what I
- 36:16Speaker 6: was going to ask you, because Vanderbilt did have the
- 36:17Speaker 6: ball in the red zone. If they score later in
- 36:20Speaker 6: that game, they take the lead. I think Diego their
- 36:23Speaker 6: first trip to the red zone. I think Diego Pavia fumbled,
- 36:25Speaker 6: he did and they lost fumble early on. So watching
- 36:28Speaker 6: that game, did you come away thinking Vanderbilt had the
- 36:33Speaker 6: chances or was Vanderbilt lucky to be in that position
- 36:36Speaker 6: based off the game flow?
- 36:37Speaker 2: And maybe Alabama just didn't close the door? I think so.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Alabama's offense to me, was really dominant. They had a
- 36:43Speaker 2: couple of stops on third down that kind of stopped there,
- 36:45Speaker 2: but they were dominant, man like to me in the
- 36:47Speaker 2: first I don't know what the I couldn't find the stats.
- 36:49Speaker 2: I'm not as savvy as you on the PFF on
- 36:52Speaker 2: like quickly finding the stats. Like first half for Alabama,
- 36:55Speaker 2: I thought they averaged like twelve yards a run, like
- 36:57Speaker 2: they were destroyed. Like the offensive line dominated and that's
- 37:00Speaker 2: a good Vandy rush defense. And only is it.
- 37:03Speaker 6: I couldn't take dards on the ground they really because
- 37:06Speaker 6: like I was watching it, I was like, is Alabama
- 37:08Speaker 6: this good? Or is Vandy just not very good to
- 37:10Speaker 6: stop in the run like those big boys of Alabama
- 37:12Speaker 6: they were.
- 37:14Speaker 2: They were moving line, but Vanderbilt made plays. They got
- 37:20Speaker 2: a couple of penalties that helped them. But with Vanderbilt
- 37:26Speaker 2: their offense, it's it's death by a thousand cuts. With them,
- 37:29Speaker 2: they are.
- 37:32Speaker 6: Short pass, run, play zone, read r p O, play
- 37:37Speaker 6: action shot scramble.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and don't slide scramble. Uh. They are just death
- 37:42Speaker 2: boyed out, like they just keep moving now. They make
- 37:44Speaker 2: some mistakes here and there. They had a couple like,
- 37:46Speaker 2: like I said, they had a couple of penalties. Things happened,
- 37:48Speaker 2: but it's it's they made the plays and they're good.
- 37:53Speaker 2: They're just sound right. They're where they're they're supposed to be.
- 37:56Speaker 2: There's nothing flashy, there's nothing sexy about it. So they
- 38:01Speaker 2: were in the game, and I don't I hadn't. I
- 38:03Speaker 2: didn't finish the second half of the film because I
- 38:05Speaker 2: was just like I rewound like every play in the
- 38:07Speaker 2: first half like a billion times.
- 38:08Speaker 6: You know, it takes like a quarterback three hours to
- 38:10Speaker 6: get through one one game. Oh god, it's like you
- 38:15Speaker 6: don't have to just rewind the the first clap the
- 38:19Speaker 6: quarterback does, just keep going back and clap and just no,
- 38:22Speaker 6: just let me play out a little bit, bud.
- 38:24Speaker 2: So it took me like four hours to do that
- 38:26Speaker 2: article the other day. It's just you and ros. Let's go, guy,
- 38:30Speaker 2: come on, guy like sorry, the rewind buttons getting me,
- 38:35Speaker 2: I know, all right, the clicker. They do have Bluetooth ones.
- 38:39Speaker 2: I know. I don't trust the bluetooth.
- 38:41Speaker 6: I want to wire, okay, but they do have them,
- 38:46Speaker 6: and it'd be much easier for you to do instead
- 38:48Speaker 6: of having to do it on the computer.
- 38:49Speaker 2: That probably delay. Okay, all right, well I tried.
- 38:53Speaker 6: All right, we'll take a break more OTB when we

- 42:00Speaker 2: afty talk coming up. You're nervous. Oh no, I don't
- 42:03Speaker 2: know how many minutes? Uh, fifteen fifteen fifteen minutes. Just
- 42:08Speaker 2: remember there's all sorts of ways to stay safe on
- 42:11Speaker 2: the job site. You can't hydrated. This fall protection, hands
- 42:15Speaker 2: section protection, head protection, but there's also safety from within
- 42:21Speaker 2: mm hmm. That's where hydration comes in. It's pp Ppe
- 42:25Speaker 2: from within. Keep your mind working at one hundred percent,
- 42:28Speaker 2: keep your body operate one hundred percent.
- 42:30Speaker 6: You know what you're any You know what a good
- 42:32Speaker 6: businessman would have done. What given me a box of
- 42:35Speaker 6: my hide to go over there with?
- 42:36Speaker 2: That's left one left. But yeah, you've known I was
- 42:43Speaker 2: doing this all week. I'm getting about the show too
- 42:48Speaker 2: much and right to me notes down about pumpkins. No
- 42:52Speaker 2: I do, I don't.
- 42:53Speaker 6: I don't get nervous in front of crowds. Do you
- 42:55Speaker 6: still get nervous front of crowds? I just don't nervous
- 43:00Speaker 6: because of the crowd. I get nervous because of like
- 43:02Speaker 6: you know, you get it.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Words. Words are tough sometimes, No, I mean yeah, but
- 43:07Speaker 2: I've given I'm getting plenty of safety talks. I's about say, like,
- 43:10Speaker 2: I'm sure you've done a ton of these, But it
- 43:12Speaker 2: was more of like a marketing thing for me, Like
- 43:15Speaker 2: from a bit it was a little bit less generic.
- 43:19Speaker 2: I'll give us some like hydration safety talks when the
- 43:21Speaker 2: summer is hitting and things like that, but you're just
- 43:23Speaker 2: a little bit more generic. So yeah, at least I
- 43:26Speaker 2: kind of like had a had a point on the map.
- 43:28Speaker 2: I was pointed towards during the speech.
- 43:30Speaker 6: Look like I told you, it's only two ways this
- 43:34Speaker 6: can go ye bad or good yep, and we're just
- 43:37Speaker 6: trying to be good.
- 43:38Speaker 2: And then if like if you could blank out, if
- 43:40Speaker 2: you short circuit or anything, you're looking for something, you
- 43:42Speaker 2: got another couple of minutes to fill, just put the
- 43:44Speaker 2: microphone down, just like run into a wall or something
- 43:49Speaker 2: like big go meat head.
- 43:50Speaker 6: So I used to block people right here, check it out. Yeah, okay,
- 43:53Speaker 6: probably not gonna do that, but thanks for the advice.
- 43:55Speaker 2: You got it.
- 43:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I probably just would go to my next bullet
- 43:59Speaker 6: point on the prepared haired bullet points that I have.
- 44:02Speaker 7: You're not gonna Deshaun Foster it.
- 44:04Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, no no mm hmm. That's
- 44:08Speaker 2: when you get nervous, is when you're not prepared and
- 44:10Speaker 2: you think you're gonna wing it.
- 44:11Speaker 7: You're like I would tell us you there's two schools
- 44:14Speaker 7: in bound, the southern where the.
- 44:18Speaker 6: Other school but this part there, Yeah, yeah, I'm not
- 44:22Speaker 6: gonna Shaun Foster.
- 44:23Speaker 2: No, not gonna do that.
- 44:25Speaker 6: Because even if you do wing it, like you still
- 44:27Speaker 6: need like bullet points to come back to.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Yeah, so you got the guardrails up to Shawn.
- 44:32Speaker 7: That was he did not do that.
- 44:33Speaker 2: That was bad. That was bad. Like this is my
- 44:36Speaker 2: last segment.
- 44:36Speaker 6: I'm gonna say from one more, let's say from one,
- 44:39Speaker 6: I'm gonna hand it off to doctor.
- 44:41Speaker 2: Etharge, Okay, and then well I'll hand it off to
- 44:48Speaker 2: me now doctor others. I don't know if you want
- 44:50Speaker 2: to bring this back or anything. I'll be better. Actually,
- 44:54Speaker 2: let's see, we'll see how there goes. Uh so, what
- 44:56Speaker 2: do you want to talk about in the two hours? Saints?
- 45:00Speaker 2: Watch a little tape? I kind of I kind of
- 45:03Speaker 2: unloaded my clip this first hour, which you probably your
- 45:08Speaker 2: clip on j That was pretty much. That's all I got.
- 45:14Speaker 2: I got all I got.
- 45:15Speaker 7: He's like, you can regards good bandy.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I don't know, No, we're good. We got we got
- 45:20Speaker 2: a little would you rather coming on later in the show,
- 45:22Speaker 2: We're gonna do a little crop dusting. Some sports might
- 45:26Speaker 2: get a little QB breakdown, little film review, just a
- 45:29Speaker 2: little bit, just so nothing like real crazy film review
- 45:32Speaker 2: on some bandy. Just see some plays have done. And
- 45:34Speaker 2: I got a little NFL quarterback power rankings coming.
- 45:38Speaker 6: At you, the Mass minofficial power rankings right just through
- 45:41Speaker 6: this week, Okay, just through this week in the NFL.
- 45:45Speaker 2: It's going to be ever changing. Okay, it's not the
- 45:48Speaker 2: official that I think is the best, but you go
- 45:49Speaker 2: one through thirty two, now we might just do ten
- 45:54Speaker 2: thirty two would be be wild. All right, Well, you
- 45:57Speaker 2: got that coming up hour number two, o TV
- 46:00Speaker 1: Off the bench
