- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31You can hear all the babies off in the distance peeping away
- 0:34this morning. So I am going to talk to you
- 0:38today about imagination and how important imagination is.
- 0:43So in the 1800s, a French psychologist and pharmacist
- 0:52introduced a new form of psychiatry, psychology that a
- 0:57psychotherapy, I believe, is what it was, where he called it
- 1:01optimistic autosuggestion, and he was very focused on it.
- 1:05I'm going to butcher his name, so please, I apologize ahead of
- 1:08time for not being able to pronounce this very well.
- 1:11And it's a very long name, but he was technically known as Emil
- 1:16Kuei COUE with an A little asterisk over it.
- 1:22So he was a, a absolute influence in this field because
- 1:28he really, really studied the this, he created this method.
- 1:34And it was all about having that incremental adjustments to your
- 1:41mindset by completely focusing on the optimistic parts of
- 1:45things, by looking at certain things.
- 1:47And you can certainly, you know, look him up, see what he had to
- 1:51say. But today we are talking about
- 1:54something that he said that intrigued me that I just
- 1:57recently read about where your imagination is stronger than
- 2:02willpower. And when in conflict with each
- 2:06other, imagination will always win.
- 2:09And he really believed this. And I have to say, I am a huge
- 2:13believer in imagination. I was.
- 2:16I spent a lot of time in trouble for my imagination because
- 2:19people would say that I wasn't paying attention, I was
- 2:22daydreaming, I was all over the place, I didn't need to
- 2:26constantly be thinking about things the way I was and yadda
- 2:29yadda yadda. And so spent a lot of time in
- 2:32trouble as a kid for it. However, I'm really glad that I
- 2:35never paid attention to anybody about it and I kept it and it
- 2:38never got ruined. And it's a very precious thing
- 2:40to me to this day. Otherwise, why the hell would I
- 2:43be sitting in the chicken coop shooting a podcast from it?
- 2:46That came from my imagination. And I have always valued my
- 2:51imagination highly. But I understand right now that
- 2:54that is not something that's quite as coveted as it once was.
- 2:57And that's a problem because I do believe what he's talking
- 3:01about. And the imagination is stronger
- 3:03than pretty much anything in our presence.
- 3:06It is a powerful tool that has been given to us from the
- 3:10universe, from God, however you want to look at it.
- 3:13It is a tool that has been given to us and it is highly neglected
- 3:17right now. It is highly ignored and it is
- 3:20highly just, I don't want to say it's abused, but it is just,
- 3:28it's not cultivated anymore. It's not coveted.
- 3:31It's, it's not something that I think should happen at all.
- 3:34I mean, I think we should be cherishing what we have in it
- 3:38and I think we should constantly be cultivating it to become the
- 3:42the absolute supreme tool that it needs to be for us.
- 3:45Because out of imagination, everything else arises.
- 3:49I mean, think about it, everything around you was
- 3:52created out of someone's imagination, if not the universe
- 3:57and it's imagination. So it doesn't make a difference
- 4:01what it is. I'm here on an iPhone and I am
- 4:04working this iPhone using this and this was out of someone's
- 4:08imagination. Everything comes that way.
- 4:13I'm in a chicken coop that has I had a vision for what it wanted
- 4:17to look like. I could see it in my
- 4:19imagination. It's a powerful, powerful tool,
- 4:23and when you utilize it as that special tool, it helps you more
- 4:29than anything else does. Willpower is strong,
- 4:35Determination is strong. Faith is strong.
- 4:40Imagination is magic, and when you use it as such, you become
- 4:47the wizard or the warlock, or however you want to do it, the
- 4:51sorceress. You become the magic.
- 4:53Whatever that word is for you, you have to make the decision
- 4:58that you're going to cultivate your imagination.
- 5:00So how does one start to cultivate their imagination or
- 5:03bring it back to life when it has been neglected and suffered,
- 5:06as it often does within our society?
- 5:08Because everybody just focuses on work and focuses on chores
- 5:13and focuses on paying bills and they don't focus on their
- 5:16imagination. So being very random is a great
- 5:21thing to start with. Trying things that you would
- 5:24never think you would try before.
- 5:28Taking yourself and saying what are the things that I loved to
- 5:32do when I was a kid before the world got in the way?
- 5:36And what were the creative things you did as a child and
- 5:39bringing them back into your life now?
- 5:41So that is one of my favorite ways to do it.
- 5:45And I would really suggest, and if you don't have something from
- 5:47when you were a child that you said, I didn't love to do this,
- 5:50I didn't do this, I didn't do this, then you just start
- 5:52exploring raw and new and think, OK, what would be interesting to
- 5:55me now? What would be something that
- 5:57would be fun to me now? You pour into it that way and
- 6:01you just start thinking about it.
- 6:02Because I will tell you that quote.
- 6:05Imagination is stronger than willpower and winning conflict
- 6:09with each other. Imagination always wins it.
- 6:12Well, it can change your world because when something comes up
- 6:16and it's hard and it's difficult and you need your willpower to
- 6:19get through it. If you just stopped and paused
- 6:22and you said OK, how can I use my imagination instead?
- 6:26That's when magic happens. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:29you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:33Bye.
