- 0:36SPEAKER_02: What have you been up to?
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: That was really funny, though.
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: I actually read that comment to my whole family.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Um As I was thumbing it, I was like, nobody else is calling this out.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: Nobody else is gonna call it out.
- 0:48SPEAKER_02: I'm glad that you did.
- 0:49SPEAKER_03: I'm glad that you did.
- 0:50SPEAKER_03: There, we we need to start him.
- 0:51SPEAKER_03: Like, we can do better.
- 0:52SPEAKER_03: We can do better as parents setting up.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: You know, I don't know.
- 0:55SPEAKER_03: I mean uh We're talking about my 17-month-old having his shirt untucked on the golf course.
- 1:06SPEAKER_03: He is pretty casual.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: No, we had no complaints yet, but you know what?
- 1:09SPEAKER_03: I'm sure it'll happen soon enough in that you know country club environment.
- 1:12SPEAKER_03: They're they're sticklers for the standard.
- 1:14SPEAKER_03: So yeah, absolutely.
- 1:16SPEAKER_03: Um no, other than that, we're just cruising along.
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm actually really excited.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: I have an event that I'm putting on tomorrow for some women and uh Hostess with the Mostess.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: Extraordinaire.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, this is something I'll chat more about it next episode, but it's it's really special.
- 1:32SPEAKER_03: I'm excited.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: Well, let's uh let's jump in.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: Why don't you talk about who we've got in the shoot today?
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: Well, my goodness.
- 1:37SPEAKER_03: So we're not gonna do any Dan catch-ups, guys.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: No, there was nothing exciting.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: I mean, there was a crazy weekend, the sports, and back to back.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: I was hanging out at Incline Village.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: That's that's all we're gonna do half a day to relax and lay.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: I did watch Niner game yesterday.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: You did get to do that because we got our asses kicked.
- 1:54SPEAKER_03: We did do that.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: We did do that.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: I just love the the meme of Taylor Swift at the Chiefs game, like pointing at a ring, going like, that's mine after kills.
- 2:03SPEAKER_03: You made a touchdown.
- 2:04SPEAKER_03: I'm like, that's proud spouse right there.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: We need more of that.
- 2:08SPEAKER_03: Um, okay.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: Well, I'm really excited to have our guests on today.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: They are a couple duo, a proud partner duo in real estate.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: And they do things a little bit differently.
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: So we have Christy and Jost Hastings here from NorCal Development.
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: We're gonna play them in and then dive in.
- 2:29SPEAKER_05: When you feel weak, you feel like you want to just give up.
- 2:34SPEAKER_05: You gotta start spinning.
- 2:35SPEAKER_05: You gotta find that in this way, just pull that shit out of you.
- 2:43SPEAKER_05: I'll man you want to just fall in your face.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: I feel like Kaylee could do it.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: I was like, it's hard.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Feeling it.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: All right, well, welcome, welcome to the shoot.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: I'll open the gate show.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: Um, we talk about lifestyle, real estate, and Sacramento in general.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: So, guys, thank you so much for being here.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Thanks for opening up with us.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: Let's talk, let's talk a little bit about till till I collapse Eminem.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: I mean, we're obviously from the same generation.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: My hair just grew out, it was bleached.
- 3:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I feel like So when we asked the question, she's like, ask me what what song it'd be.
- 3:25SPEAKER_04: I'm like, well, you know, like mine, I was a huge MN fan.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: I'd like to songs out.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: You were not?
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: I was not.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: I I have like a few that I like, but I was not.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: And he used to just play it out when we were we were we've been together since high school.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: So when we were teenagers, he would just play it to the death, and I just couldn't handle it anymore.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: And from you guys from here in the area?
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: Actually, went to Wood Creek High School.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, nice.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: Very cool.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: Very cool.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: Okay, so you you are high school sweethearts.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: You went to Wood Creek High School.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: We were on and off in high school, so I don't know if it's like full high school sweethearts, but yes, we dated on and off.
- 3:59SPEAKER_04: I think that's I was chasing in high school.
- 4:02SPEAKER_04: Uh lucky you.
- 4:07SPEAKER_06: Let's be real.
- 4:08SPEAKER_06: Let's be real.
- 4:09SPEAKER_04: I was back to the song, like I was so totally surprised because that's like my fired up.
- 4:12SPEAKER_04: Like, if I'm like I coach high school football, and like when I'm as a coach going to the stadium, I'm listening to that song.
- 4:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:17SPEAKER_04: Like to get fired up for even for just for coaching, or if I'm going to the gym.
- 4:20SPEAKER_04: And then when I said that, she said, me too.
- 4:21SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, I was like, what?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: He said, our song, our songs are gonna be different.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: And I was like, well, what comes to mind?
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: He's like, Till you claps.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: I'm like, that's exactly what I was thinking.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: So really there's an absolute cadence to the way that it builds up and kind of frames your mindset.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: It does frame your mindset.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: It builds you up.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: Like I mean, going back to the roots of the name of this podcast, Open the Gate, I'm a giant Zach Brown fan.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: And or Zach Brown, I'm sorry.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: And and that's why this came, because it's like that song is kind of about like the the the pent-up energy in a bull riding competition.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: And then when the gate goes open, like we're off and run, we're bucking.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: You know, like so very cool, very cool.
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: When worlds collide.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: Thanks for that visual.
- 5:03SPEAKER_03: Bucking.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: Um, on a bull.
- 5:07SPEAKER_03: You need you need to be a large with my imagination.
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: You know snorting bullshit.
- 5:13SPEAKER_03: Honestly, getting better.
- 5:15SPEAKER_03: It's getting better.
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: Parental advisor.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: Okay, so it doesn't take long to get to the parental advisor check mark on the podcast.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: And I'm usually the one that goes there.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry, everybody.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: Beat you the punch today.
- 5:26SPEAKER_03: Okay, so tell me how did you guys evolve from lovers and friends to now you're running this business, and just for context, everybody, so what they do, you guys are your real estate agents, but you're also home developers in the sense of He's not an agent, actually.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're half an agent.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: I'm an agent, but he is just a hundred percent builder developer.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay.
- 5:49SPEAKER_03: So you do ground up builds, but you also do kind of the more luxury high-end flips.
- 5:55SPEAKER_04: And cookie cutter, and cookie cutter and we'll flip anything from a we know Sacramento Park, a condo to you know, Granite Bay building a spec home in Loomis.
- 6:05SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: So zero discrimination when it comes to opportunity.
- 6:08SPEAKER_03: Because you're kind of in and out.
- 6:10SPEAKER_03: You guys really are a couple.
- 6:11SPEAKER_03: I love this.
- 6:14SPEAKER_03: Get close.
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: That was that was so sweet and soft.
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: Like get closer.
- 6:19SPEAKER_03: But also we're recording right now.
- 6:21SPEAKER_03: Um, okay, so how like tell us the origin story.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: How did this all transpire?
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: You want to start?
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Um so I've been in real estate since I was 19.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: He was in corporate America, I was selling new homes, and um, like everyone knows the collapse of 2007, 2008, we were young, we bought our first house, we acquired a massive amount of debt, um, bought a house that was way too expensive, cars that were way too expensive, just living the life way overextended ourselves.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: And then when the market crashed, I lost my job.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: He within three months lost his job.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: So we went from, I don't know, making$250,000 a year between the two of us to uh like to negative$2,000 a month.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: His parents basically were like, hey, they owned a property management company, so that'll go into the next steps of it.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: We lost everything.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: We short sold our house, we literally our cars went back, everything.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: We lost our retirements, uh everything we had invested in.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: So um his parents owned a property management company and they said, Hey, we can pay you$2,500 a month if you want to come work with us.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: And of course, he did.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: And then I had our first son that same time, and um we were just trying to get by with$2,500 a month.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: And I got into resale and tried to figure that out.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: It took, you know, it takes six to twelve months to make any money in the case.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Well, especially in that time, like because the REO stuff was such a challenge and was so much.
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: Um we were on there the most Monday Mondays of Mondays.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: I thought the song was gonna help.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: It didn't.
- 7:59SPEAKER_03: It fired me up.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: Now we're having Texnafoos.
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: So you this was in 2008.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: So luckily we had um my best friend and her husband had a rental that we could rent their house.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: So we did.
- 8:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because we should open shorts while we followed bankruptcy, so no one's gonna credit.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: And no better time to have a kid than so just pile that on.
- 8:20SPEAKER_04: And a new dog.
- 8:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:22SPEAKER_04: I love this.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's kind of what happened.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Um so then his sadly his mom um got brain cancer and she passed away.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: So he took over the property management company.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: And then we started just uh rehabbing flips for we kind of just came up with this idea like, hey, Christy, you can sell these houses and I can do the remodel, and then they'll rent their houses with us.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: So we kind of made this package together where like I did the design, found the houses for them, he knew the numbers, and it just kind of we found rentals and the they bought them and then we made the money on the And we yeah, we plugged them into our rental portfolio as like our management portfolio.
- 9:05SPEAKER_04: So like we would manage these people's property for them.
- 9:07SPEAKER_04: They wanted to grow their grow their portfolio, we wanted to grow the business.
- 9:10SPEAKER_04: And so we'd go out and look at like 10 houses, we'd say, you know, these three are perfect, you know, put 25 into them.
- 9:15SPEAKER_04: They'll rent for twelve to fifteen hundred dollars a month.
- 9:18SPEAKER_04: And the they were investors at the time, and they were like, Yeah, that sounds great.
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: So they would buy the house, we'd fix it up, and then plug it into our portfolios of rental and get it rented up and and manage it for them.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: And then there's there's just truthfully not a lot of money in property management.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: So ultimately, we not for the amount of phone calls that it generates, right?
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: I always uh wait until like if the phone rings, it's bad.
- 9:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: They're not calling you when they're happy.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: We do a ton of work in property management space as well on the construction side, and it's like it's yeah, it's never a good call.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: No.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: They're never like, oh, thank you for doing such a good job this week.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: We just want you to know that we appreciate you managing our property.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:58SPEAKER_03: Have a great day.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: Doesn't exist.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: So I had a I had a client that um he was flipping houses, he was a contractor, and he came to us one day, and I had been helping him with the design and listing his houses.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: He came to me one day, called me, he's like, Hey, I went to this seminar, Ann and I want to know if you and Josh want to partner with us.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: It's$25,000 to get in, blah, blah, blah.
- 10:18SPEAKER_04: It's basically uh how to flip houses in a box.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: It's like the seminars you hear on the radio.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: But it was like it was the real thing.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: We footprint for that was 100%.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: So we said, We we we have no money, we can't do that.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: And he fronted they fronted the money for us to do it, and they said, We believe in you guys and we want to be your partners.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: And they're still friends of ours.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: They're older, so they're retired.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Well, they're out retired out of this business.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: Um, but they basically said you could just pay us back over the flips that we do together, and then it worked out.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: We we ended up parting ways because they kind of wanted to get into commercial.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Um and we had like 12 flips we were doing with them.
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: 14 at the time when they when we decided to.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, we did really well together.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: And then um they wanted to do something else, but we're I'm st we're still friends with them.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: Were you guys able to like self-finance your flips at that point?
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: We still don't.
- 11:10SPEAKER_04: No, it's all every flip we've ever done has been funded with private money.
- 11:13SPEAKER_04: So those same people that we found houses for in the very beginning um for rentals, when the rental market kind of dried up in 2011-12, we switched over to flipping, and we basically showed them based on the seminar we went to, it was like, hey, here's how you can also make money by just lending in real estate instead of being the actual owner.
- 11:30SPEAKER_04: So they all became not all, but a lot of them become private lenders.
- 11:33SPEAKER_04: So they lend and they make 12% of their money instead of having to deal with a rental property and and all that.
- 11:38SPEAKER_04: It's kind of a problem that comes with it.
- 11:39SPEAKER_04: So a lot of the funding that we use in our business now is from those same people that we've found houses for in the very beginning.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, interesting evolution of that.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: Okay, so in totality, how long have you guys been in this flipping and developing stage?
- 11:53SPEAKER_04: So we started flipping in 2012 as an actual flipping business.
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 11:57SPEAKER_04: And then we split in 2015, and NORCAL Homes has been in business since 2015.
- 12:02SPEAKER_04: Amazing.
- 12:02SPEAKER_03: So we were we were H2G before.
- 12:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, before the Chipping Joe.
- 12:07SPEAKER_03: What are they the gains?
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: I don't even know.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: This is how much TV I watch.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: But I know that everybody watches TV and they now think that they can flip a house.
- 12:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: That's as much as I know.
- 12:16SPEAKER_03: But um, okay, so how many projects have you guys successfully completed and turned?
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: We're around 120.
- 12:21SPEAKER_04: Wow is about the number that we've done since since we started.
- 12:24SPEAKER_04: Not including the flip.
- 12:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, not including the rental.
- 12:27SPEAKER_04: We did like 35 rental properties in the beginning.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 12:30SPEAKER_04: That's a kind of so I don't include those because that's not really a flip, but so actual flips and builds and spec homes that we've done is about 120-ish.
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: Somewhere right around there.
- 12:37SPEAKER_03: Okay, I'm curious.
- 12:39SPEAKER_03: What what are your guys' opinions?
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: Uh, you guys have seen and survived a lot of markets.
- 12:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:44SPEAKER_03: So what are you seeing in this current market?
- 12:47SPEAKER_03: And is it more challenging trying to make your margins when you're flipping?
- 12:52SPEAKER_03: Like what are you guys experiencing on that side?
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: I think it's been challenging for quite a few years to make margins because I do think a lot of investors or flippers do sometimes overpay for properties.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: Um so it's hard to keep up with like things that are on the market.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: We probably won't win those bids.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Um, so most of our stuff comes off market or like agent relationships that we've established that um they get to list the house if they bring us a house.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: So it kind of is a win-win for everybody.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Um, people think that I list all of our houses.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: I rarely list.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: Do you attribute that to kind of the just the inflationary state of the world right now?
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: You know, I mean, prices went crazy in the 20s, in the early 20s during COVID when rates went down.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: I mean, but now I feel like we've been in this hole for the last couple years where the affordability challenge is really, really hard.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: And obviously, I mean, you guys are looking for stuff on the lower end.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: But like, you know, a first-time home buyer, a trade-up buyer, like what they're paying and and the interest rate, like that new mortgage payment is crazy compared to, you know, just four years ago.
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: And everyone's still kind of chasing that pie in the sky idea of the 3% you know loan, which it which isn't, but it's like, man, like the the tangibility of the actual dollars is crazy right now.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: So what I think is so expensive.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: What I find that I think we try we I think we do well, we try, but to do the big ticket items as much as we can on our flips, because the affordability thing is a reality, especially for first and second-time home buyers.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: So you want to do the big ticket items so that yes, they're gonna have a big mortgage, but would they rather pay an extra$200 a month and pay a little more for the house and not have to replace the roof, the HVAC, the water heater, like those big things that they just can't afford to do with cash when they move in.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: So I think the days of just being able to paint a house and flip it back on the market.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like that doesn't exist anymore.
- 14:54SPEAKER_03: And buyers are becoming so wise to that too.
- 14:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:57SPEAKER_03: Like I just sold and listed one of those.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: I sold it to the investor and then resold when it went on the market.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: And it it looked really good, but you could tell.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: And every buyer that walked in there was pointing these things out, and it's like this the they never used to do that.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: They're be they're it I think it's the well, they're the most informed buyer the world has ever seen.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: And that's not changing.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: And the average age of a first-time home buyer is they're more mature, late 30s, they're more mature.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: They're not, it's not, it's rarely kids, but kids in their 20s now.
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: It's just like we were just talking, and we have similar age kids.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: I look at my 16-year-old daughter, I'm like, how are you gonna afford a house?
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: Like, how are you gonna afford college?
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: Like, I mean, these things are crazy expensive.
- 15:39SPEAKER_04: And it's not like today's million is yeah, it's it's roommates for sure.
- 15:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, if you're not rent out, your rents are crazy expensive.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: Let me I wanna I want to ask this just because it popped into my brain it's on our list.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: I apologize, you're not prepared for it.
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: But like, are you seeing are you seeing the conversations that you're having?
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: Um, are you seeing indications of like AI driven questions, like where the where the where you're the the the clients are are going to AI to learn about this and ask and then turning those questions around for you guys?
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: I haven't.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Have you?
- 16:12SPEAKER_03: I not really, no.
- 16:14SPEAKER_03: Only there have been a handful of times when somebody is reaching out through like Instagram or Zillow or something, and I have no personal connection to them.
- 16:27SPEAKER_03: There have been like one or two times where they've sent a list of questions they want answered, and it was very obviously like, what should what question should I be asking when I'm shopping for?
- 16:35SPEAKER_03: A realtor.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: We haven't we haven't had that.
- 16:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean I don't deal with it much because I deal either directly with uh best seller or like that that wants to sell their house or a realtor that has a has a property or a wholesaler.
- 16:45SPEAKER_04: That's the big three that I talk to the most.
- 16:47SPEAKER_04: So I I'm not in like I don't I don't get that.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: I think I would support somebody going to AI for understanding what questions to ask more than them going and getting certain information from AI and then assuming that they understand the nuances of what could be a challenge of a problem.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: You know, like I had clients, I had an open house this weekend and I was talking about there's uh like very minimal subterranean termites, like$1,400 worth under the crawl space.
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: And the the prospect started talking about, well, my understanding is that they're very difficult and blah, blah, blah.
- 17:28SPEAKER_03: And they make all these challenges, and I was like, I gotta guess it's actually not true.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: Actually not true.
- 17:33SPEAKER_03: It's pretty easy, and that most companies will guarantee if they return in a year, they'll come back and retreat it.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: Like it's very, very minimal.
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I think that I would rather them ask questions than have this overinflated sense of I know.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: I think it actually helps people because there's so many, I don't want to say know-it-all, mentality, and a lot of buyers that you meet like random buyers and sellers for that matter, but instead of they can now they have an informed way to ask those questions.
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: It's the new buyer's dad.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Which actually is better, it's it's better than nine out of ten dads.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: Because they actually know he's not looking at the AI actually knows real estate.
- 18:12SPEAKER_03: It does, yeah, it does.
- 18:14SPEAKER_03: That's why I'm like, bring all the questions.
- 18:15SPEAKER_03: But if AI is telling you certain information, don't take that as the end all truth.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:24SPEAKER_03: They finally started putting the disclaimer in there now of like AI can be wrong.
- 18:28SPEAKER_03: Please research.
- 18:29SPEAKER_03: They had to start putting that in there.
- 18:31SPEAKER_02: Well, for sure.
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: We're pretty gullible as a society, it turns out.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: Hey, I mean, the amount of the amount of the amount of faith that people put in Chat GPT or just anything they see online generally.
- 18:44SPEAKER_03: I can go make a random post and just say it confidently and be like, bees originally started harvesting molasses before honey, and then people will be like, oh my God, that's crazy.
- 18:55SPEAKER_03: I never knew that.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: I mean, bees aren't the original creators of honey.
- 19:00SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 19:01SPEAKER_03: People are just so used to like seeing something online and taking it as truth without question.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: So that's fun.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: Um, you guys born and raised in Rose, I'm gonna kind of like switch directions a little bit.
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: Actually, you know what, before I do that, because I have cat brain right now.
- 19:18SPEAKER_03: Um where do you see your business going in the next five to ten years?
- 19:24SPEAKER_04: Um, I mean on the flipping side, I'm actually kind of going back to roots almost right now.
- 19:30SPEAKER_04: So like we've done so many, like we've so focused on building spec homes and doing big projects that right now I'm like heav heavily focused on going back to flips.
- 19:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 19:39SPEAKER_04: Going back to just basics and finding as many flips as we can.
- 19:43SPEAKER_04: So like the price point doesn't necessarily matter.
- 19:46SPEAKER_04: And like mentally taking note, more focused on all flips too.
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:49SPEAKER_04: Like for some.
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: Kaylee also wants to talk to you guys about who you're listing these flip flips since Chrissy, you're gonna be able to do that.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: She brings them on the Kayla has a couple.
- 19:56unknown: Yeah.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: We know how this works.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: Like bring bring the project, you get the you get to sell it all.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: Realtors are everywhere in our life.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:03SPEAKER_04: The one I looked at today was brought from a realtor that she'll get to relist it when we're done.
- 20:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:07SPEAKER_04: Julia just done.
- 20:10SPEAKER_04: Oh, Julia.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: Michelle Columbo just on the Julia was on the pod.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she's yeah.
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: Michelle Columbo just listed one of our properties.
- 20:16SPEAKER_04: Um Kayla's gonna list up list one of the next ones.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: So yeah, most of the ones that we get are from realtors, and the realtor gets to relist it when we're gonna do it.
- 20:22SPEAKER_03: What's the sweet spot that you're looking for for those?
- 20:25SPEAKER_03: Very simple.
- 20:26SPEAKER_04: Uh does it make money?
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, any anything really.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: As long as it makes money.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: I think the builds, okay.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: So this is the builds are great when they sell, right?
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: It's a it's a bigger payday, higher risk, higher reward, but it takes a long time.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: So our builds average probably almost two years.
- 20:47SPEAKER_03: And are you guys financing that with hard money as well?
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: Yes, private.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: It's not hard money.
- 20:51SPEAKER_03: Private money.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's just people.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: It's like our clients, friends, and family.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, I think the flips, what we've kind of realized, always learning, is the flips are really just the bread and butter of what keeps you going.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: Um so you can't just depend on the builds.
- 21:10SPEAKER_03: Which one do you guys personally enjoy more?
- 21:13SPEAKER_04: I I mean, I like it all, but it just it's they're just so different.
- 21:17SPEAKER_04: Like a f a flip is like you get to take something that's trash.
- 21:21SPEAKER_03: I can and I just did.
- 21:23SPEAKER_04: So like the it's just two different worlds because the flip, like you take something that is just hammered, like someone probably would couldn't want doesn't want to set foot in and turn it into something beautiful again that someone's gonna live in.
- 21:31SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 21:32SPEAKER_04: And then a and then a build is so special because you're taking something from dirt and creating this beautiful home with her vision.
- 21:38SPEAKER_04: Um, she does all the design, so like I couldn't do it without her, but like you take it to to create this amazing spec home that like out of nothing, essentially.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: I was actually showing Rustic Woods last week and um the couple that I was showing, we were talking about it, and um one of the ladies asked me, What do you what do you like about this?
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: And I said, I just love that like maybe one day my kids will be able to like drive around neighborhoods that we built houses in, and those houses will still be standing like long after we're gone.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: And like be able to like tell, yeah, yeah.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: It's a legacy.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: And like, yeah, it feels more like a legacy for us on the new builds.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: I feel like the flips are like.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: Like giving some giving someone else like a chance to have like a lot of people do come back, a lot of family members.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Like we just had got a video from Michelle yesterday last night that the people who sold it to us, she came back and she was like, I can't wait to see who moves into this house.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: You guys have made it beautiful again.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: I want it to be home for someone.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: So, like having the sellers come back and like what we did is really cool.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Like having like what they couldn't do and have the house be really great for somebody again is really cool.
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: I was just thinking, as you were saying that, I was envisioning like giving that opportunity to communities that would love to revitalize.
- 22:58SPEAKER_03: And when one person does it, you know, the whole neighborhood benefits from it.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: So to give that opportunity to someone who's lived in there for 30 or 50 years, doesn't have the funds to make it up, you know, it's run down, it's at the end of its heyday, if you will.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: And then you come in and you bring it back to life.
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: Like that's a really it's really incredible.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: It is really cool.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: And that's so beautiful.
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: And now I'm thinking, I'm like, God, I want to do this with every unique house in Fairhouse.
- 23:25SPEAKER_03: I'm on a mission to build rebuild this community because there's some incredible unique architecture.
- 23:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: And that's we do try.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: I mean, obviously we do the normal track home flip situations, but also like um Kayla brought us one on 17th that has an inside it's like a hundred years old.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, in midtown.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: And we'll start the remodel soon.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: And so it'll be fun to take everyone along for that ride.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: But it's going to be like, um, you know, I'm I'm gonna try to keep the Craftsman Wood and like do like Hunter Greens in the bathroom and like do really cool like 40s vibes and bring that all back.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: Like so that will be a fun one.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: Educate yourself in the world of design where you're just blessed with the eye.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: I did not.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: I didn't go to the show.
- 24:11SPEAKER_03: Watch a lot of HG TV, didn't you?
- 24:13SPEAKER_03: No, I'm just kidding.
- 24:14SPEAKER_03: Pinterest.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: Pinterest Pinterest.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: Well, no, it started watching HG TV with his parents, actually.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: Like they loved those shows way back when.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: But they're adapting, I will say.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I don't watch them anymore because I I kind of feel like it's like work.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Like, so I don't watch them anymore.
- 24:28SPEAKER_02: Kids are continuing ed.
- 24:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: It's all phony.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: But Pinterest is Pinterest is a lifesaver.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: I mean, if you have like kind of an idea of what you want in your mind, you can search on Pinterest.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: Like, I want a hunter green bathroom.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: It'll pull up some cool designs that you can.
- 24:45SPEAKER_03: Are you utilizing AI to help you build pallets once you kind of say, like, all right?
- 24:49SPEAKER_03: Not yet.
- 24:50SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: But I feel like that is the next step.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: Like, if you especially if you're like, okay, I'm envisioning a hunter green bathroom.
- 24:58SPEAKER_03: What are the best, you know, hardware and accessories that are.
- 25:01SPEAKER_02: Well, you can take a picture of it and plug it in and say, give me some, give me some spots.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: The only problem is that he on our flips puts me on Amazon budget.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: So which we define everything that too.
- 25:14SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 25:15SPEAKER_03: All lady followers, thank you for finally starting your Amazon store because I swear so many things have been passed around that I'm like, it's great to have access to a link now.
- 25:25SPEAKER_03: Just be like, I loved this, either the paint color or the stone or the hardware.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: I didn't think people cared enough to do it, but I was at a uh bridal shower yesterday and somebody I had not met in person, she was like, Thank you so much for doing that.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: I saved so much stuff, and I'm like, wow, it's kind of crazy because I just didn't think anybody would really care.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: But it's not that they don't care, it's that they didn't care to ask you.
- 25:47SPEAKER_03: But now that it's available, everybody's like, Yes, thank you.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: It's fun.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: I actually enjoy it a lot.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: I I I think I just I'm just getting started.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: I only have a couple boards saved, but like on my Amazon storefront, but it's fun to do it.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: I like it.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: So it'll it'll we'll keep going with that.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: Plugging you on that one.
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: That's really fun.
- 26:05SPEAKER_03: Okay, now Dan.
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: So let's dig into the community a little bit.
- 26:08SPEAKER_02: So kind of you guys are both kind of born and raised West Roseville, huh?
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: Wood Creek is We were both born and formerly West Roseville.
- 26:16SPEAKER_02: I wouldn't even consider Wood Creek West Roseville.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: Now it's not.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's crazy.
- 26:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: Um talk to us about some of your favorite spots around town.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: And obviously Sacramento roots, I mean greater Sacramento.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: It's kind of funny, but like our go-to favorite spot is McCoonie or Chef's Table.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: That's like-to staples.
- 26:37SPEAKER_02: But we just You're not gonna walk out of either one of those places with a bad experience ever.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: No.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: It's not allowable.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: No, no.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: In completely different places.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: But also um, but you'll see the same people in both places.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: And yeah, and we're always at the bar at McCoonie because it's faster and better service.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: Which location is what was it before the fountains opened?
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: It was um where we went?
- 27:02SPEAKER_03: Or which location?
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: Was it the one on the stone fountains?
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: It was smaller.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah, the uh Kaisen.
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: Where Rose is Rose Beast, Rose Pars Beastrows.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: But okay, so this new place that just opened, which everyone's talking about, and everybody that's listening probably knows about it.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: But in Bickford, oh, yeah.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: In Lincoln.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: So we went to that place on Friday, 1876.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: So good and so cheap.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: So it's popularity.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: I don't want to say cheap, but it's so affordable.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: So they have this.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: It is amazingly affordable.
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: Like I week the first time we sat down, I was like, I can't believe this is normal price.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: We were there for lunch, and um, shout out Kyle.
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: Good job, Kyle.
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: Is that the owner?
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: Kyle Oliver's Kyle Oliver's Yeah.
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, I didn't even know that.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Yes, it's amazing.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: And I feel we went there for lunch.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: Three drinks, two dr two entrees, and a it was like sixty-three dollars.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: This is like 95.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: Speaking of your money going a long ways, that place.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: And the view and the views are wild.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: It's so pretty.
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: We just sat at the bar.
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: And you see all of it.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: The view is incredible.
- 28:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's been like the most documented space, I think, in the last two to three weeks.
- 28:18SPEAKER_03: Like they have just been getting.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: Because you're there and you feel like you're in like Southern California.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: The views make you feel like it you're not here.
- 28:25SPEAKER_02: Especially like now as we're getting into fall.
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: I mean, you don't have a lot of, you don't really have many hundred degree days left this would hope this year, hopefully.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: But I mean, yeah, it's seasonally, it's it's perfectly timed and it's it's a it's a great little spot.
- 28:39SPEAKER_03: Is it is it in the I've heard some people talk about it is in the 55 plus.
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: And there's a gate, so I don't know if like the gate's always open or what.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: We were st we were having the same conversation.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: He's like, how does this work at like when it at like eight o'clock in the eight and when it's passing?
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: We're gonna figure it out.
- 28:54SPEAKER_03: Everyone's going to bed.
- 28:55SPEAKER_04: Just dial some around the homeowner.
- 28:57SPEAKER_04: Going to dinner, can you let me in?
- 28:59SPEAKER_03: Time is over.
- 29:00SPEAKER_03: But it's funny because that is a that is a frustration.
- 29:02SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: My wife and I have a frustration too.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: Like so many places since COVID, like, they shut down at like eight.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: It's like if you have kids that are in sports, like you're just getting started.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: For dinner, I'm like, it's 8 30.
- 29:14SPEAKER_02: I go, we're screwed for dinner.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: It's in and out.
- 29:17SPEAKER_02: That's my one gripe about pharaohs.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: They closed off.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: Everything closes early.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: It does around here too.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: It's I think it's just kind of everywhere during the week at least.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: I on the weekends it's better.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: But yeah, after sports are over and it's like 8 30, 9 o'clock at night, and your kids are like, oh, I want dinner again.
- 29:31SPEAKER_00: That's our house.
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: It's like, I'm hungry again.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: I'm like, great.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: Let me open the kitchen back up again.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: I always tell them, like, when I'm done, I'm like, the kitchen's closed.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: You can do whatever you want.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: I'm done tonight.
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: Clean up after yourself.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: The pantry's not locked.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: Okay, so we got your favorite hotspots.
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: What about play like experiences, things to go do?
- 29:52SPEAKER_04: I mean, we're so like involved with kids.
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: Like, like, like where you're older than me.
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: Freshman and senior.
- 30:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, freshman and senior.
- 30:02SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 30:02SPEAKER_04: So like we like I coach football for at Wood Creek and my son plays R City football.
- 30:07SPEAKER_04: My our younger son plays competitive soccer.
- 30:09SPEAKER_04: Um, so like we're practice five, four six altogether eight, like seven practices a week, games on Friday, then one game Saturday or Sunday.
- 30:19SPEAKER_04: I was in a day game for Clovis, a day game for Salinas.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, last we were in San Jose Saturday.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Saturday, Saturday.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: So we don't go a lot of places right now, I feel like, but I mean Tahoe.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: I love Tahoe when we can get away and do it.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: North or South.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: So I love Edgewood.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: But if I'm not at Edgewood, 100% North Shore.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 30:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 30:42unknown: Yeah.
- 30:42unknown: Yeah.
- 30:43SPEAKER_04: I would love to be in the casinos at all times.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: And I luckily I hate gambling, so that helps us a lot.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: Me too.
- 30:51SPEAKER_03: I'm like, I just don't like to lose.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: I'd rather go buy a pair of pants.
- 30:55SPEAKER_03: I'd rather burn my money and stay warm.
- 30:57SPEAKER_03: If it's gonna serve any purpose, it's literally just getting thrown away when I gamble because I never get a return on it.
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: So I'm like, Yeah.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: Anything, anything is better than that.
- 31:06SPEAKER_03: He loves it.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: He's yeah, he's just a he's just a gambler.
- 31:08SPEAKER_03: So what's your favorite?
- 31:09SPEAKER_03: Are you like a card guy or a slot guy?
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: Craps is my favorite.
- 31:12SPEAKER_03: Craps! Keep the game going.
- 31:14SPEAKER_03: Like the dice, yeah.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: Well, the business card meets you.
- 31:18SPEAKER_02: That energy energy on the craps table is is like nothing else.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: You get on a hot table.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: On a heater.
- 31:26SPEAKER_03: Here we go, the lingo.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 31:28SPEAKER_03: They should really give you an entry level though, because one of the most intimidating things about the crab staple is that there's so much going on.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know what's going on.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: I just stand there.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: I haven't I watch them sometimes and I'm like, I have no idea what's happening.
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: But you can also learn one or two and still play with craps.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: Like you don't have to know about the crap.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: They're not busy too.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: Like the dealers will help you.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: Like, yeah, but if they're busy, they just look at you like, what are you doing?
- 31:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:50SPEAKER_03: Get off my table.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: Get away, dummy.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:53SPEAKER_03: You're not even betting.
- 31:56SPEAKER_02: People are betting on your rules, and like they will love it if you're new, because like they feel like you're probably way more likely to get on a heater because of beginner's luck.
- 32:06SPEAKER_02: So if you're like, hey, help me out here, like a lot of times the table will be in support of that too, because they think there's something.
- 32:12SPEAKER_03: Okay, so pro tip, find a hot table.
- 32:14SPEAKER_03: These two.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: Sounds like they have all the pro times.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: We're not going to talk about again.
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: These guys would be dangerous.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: Broken single.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: For sure.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:25SPEAKER_03: Oh I was so truly having a lot of fun envisioning that right now.
- 32:30SPEAKER_03: Dan, you're never allowed to go to any casino.
- 32:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I have to steer clear the casinos myself.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: He has well, he usually sticks to a good limit.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: We talk about it before, and then we usually are pretty good about sticking to that.
- 32:46SPEAKER_03: That's the hardest thing.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: You have to have a limit because then people are like, no, I'm gonna earn it all, I'm gonna win it all back, I'm gonna win it all back.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: I'm like, no, you're not, you're just done.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: We're done.
- 32:55SPEAKER_06: For sure.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: Okay, so when you are juggling kids, sports, all this stuff, do you find that it's challenging being in real estate and we're expected to be available all the time?
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think anytime you're self-employed, um it you don't shut it off ever.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: So like he doesn't have necessarily clients calling him at night, but he still has stuff going on.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: And you feel like I feel like it's just kind of a I don't want to say a trap, but it kind of is when you're self-employed that you never feel like you should have a break.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: At least I feel like that.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: I feel like if I'm taking a day off, I am being lazy and I could be doing so much more.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: It's kind of a mental, I don't know.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: It is a mental fucking.
- 33:36SPEAKER_02: There's absolutely give and take to that for sure.
- 33:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's it it's it's much worse on the realtor side than it is for like my business side because I'm I'm my own boss and I don't have like I have one employee and have like a client that I work for, right?
- 33:47SPEAKER_04: So if I was doing projects for other people, then yeah, you're working for someone else.
- 33:50SPEAKER_04: But for us, it's like if I take a day off, it's just hurting myself.
- 33:52SPEAKER_04: So it's like whatever, if I want a day off, I just take it off and then something is delayed a day.
- 33:56SPEAKER_03: And how does that affect the relationship part?
- 33:59SPEAKER_03: Because you guys are partners in business, you're partners in life, you're raising kids, you're raising houses.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: So I think right now it's fine, but I I think about it often that like if we ever weren't doing this, like, because it's such a big part of our life, I don't I don't know, like, would we what do we talk about now?
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: Is it getting easier as your children are getting older, or do you feel like it's getting like because for me, like I look at my kids growing up and I'm like, dang, like, so my daughter, we've we've shared my daughter's gonna go play volleyball at Long Beach State.
- 34:30SPEAKER_02: She got a scholarship, it's gonna be awesome.
- 34:32SPEAKER_02: But she's gone in like 16 months.
- 34:34SPEAKER_02: And now I'm like, and you guys have a senior, so I'm like, now my clock is ticking.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh my gosh, I have less than a year and a half with my daughter.
- 34:40SPEAKER_02: And I don't, I honestly, in my heart of hearts, I don't think she's the one who's ever gonna move back home.
- 34:44SPEAKER_02: She'll come back home and visit, I think.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: But like, I don't think she's so it's like I look at that time like it's so valuable now, and I'm like, I'm trying to absorb, and you know, she's a teenager, she's like, like, fuck off.
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, leave it alone.
- 34:55SPEAKER_04: One of the things that she's honestly been phenomenal at over the years since they were little is making sure we're aware that we only have a certain amount of time.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: I've known that forever.
- 35:05SPEAKER_04: I've she's had that realization for a very long time.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: Even when they were young and it was really hard.
- 35:09SPEAKER_04: So I we've we've really focused on cherishing every moment that we can with them.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: Um I don't think you really realized until probably five years ago how fast it goes.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: I'm not a little kid guy.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm just yeah, I know.
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: I'm saying I feel like biologically, men generally are not little kid guys.
- 35:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:35SPEAKER_04: First kid I ever held was Blake, first diaper ever changed was Blake's.
- 35:38SPEAKER_04: Like our oldest sons, like I like I just wasn't not a baby person.
- 35:40SPEAKER_04: They're like, hold on, like, no, it'll break.
- 35:42SPEAKER_03: It'll break.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: It'll break.
- 35:44SPEAKER_04: It's too fragile.
- 35:45SPEAKER_04: But so like No returns.
- 35:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:47SPEAKER_03: No return policy on that one.
- 35:48SPEAKER_04: Now that they're older, like I'm we have sports, right?
- 35:51SPEAKER_04: So we have all their all their things, and I've been able to coach both of them at different times of their of their their lives, their sports careers.
- 35:57SPEAKER_04: And so like I've been so involved in that where she hasn't had that.
- 35:59SPEAKER_04: So she has a different relationship with them and they're you know mama's boys, and they they talk, you know, Blake will tell her anything and everything.
- 36:05SPEAKER_04: Like so it's just a different just a different dynamic.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: But do you find it hard to turn off like the coach and then just be dad sometimes?
- 36:12SPEAKER_04: Um no, because I'm harder on him as a dad than I am even as a coach.
- 36:14SPEAKER_04: So it when I'm coaching, interesting.
- 36:16SPEAKER_04: I I'm I've always I've always held him to a higher standard than anyone else because I'm a coach.
- 36:20SPEAKER_04: So our kid whether it was soccer with Blake or football Blake or soccer with Colt, like I always expect the most out of you because I am the coach.
- 36:27SPEAKER_04: Like you you you have to be better.
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: The standard has to be higher.
- 36:31SPEAKER_04: Because no one you don't want the the daddy ball look.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:34SPEAKER_04: Um, as it's talked about in sports all the time.
- 36:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so like that's something that um in fact our our head coach asked me that.
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: He's like, How do you separate that?
- 36:40SPEAKER_04: I'm like, I'm I'm honestly I'm probably harder on on my kids than than you would be, or their coach would be.
- 36:46SPEAKER_04: Same.
- 36:47SPEAKER_03: I think dads are.
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: That makes sense.
- 36:49SPEAKER_03: Whether you're coaching or two moms, he's gonna be a soft big maybe not.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: No, no.
- 36:56SPEAKER_03: Based on how it went on the golf course last night, I would have.
- 36:58SPEAKER_03: I've met his mom, so I think he'll be fine.
- 37:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 37:01SPEAKER_03: We're he's like 17 months, and we're like swinging him properly.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: I have a friend.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: She they're clients and became friends, and um, they have a 18-month-old, and he is like there he has two moms, and he is the toughest, toughest boy.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: Like he's all like football, like Christian McCaffrey mini gate kind.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: Like he's just the cutest kid, but he's he's not gonna be softy at all.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: You can already tell.
- 37:25SPEAKER_03: Neither is mine.
- 37:26SPEAKER_03: He I talk about it all the time.
- 37:28SPEAKER_03: Like every day he bleeds.
- 37:29SPEAKER_03: I literally got a video of him pushing the stroller with his cousin in it up a hill at the chicken festival.
- 37:37SPEAKER_03: I'm like, he is a tank.
- 37:39SPEAKER_03: Like he just he needs to like be rough and tumble, and he and every time he sees any game with a ball baseball, football, basketball, soccer, he is glued to it.
- 37:52SPEAKER_03: Like you know how they say you can tell or like some kids are just drawn to things early on.
- 37:57SPEAKER_03: For sure.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: He's gonna be a ball sports guy, for sure.
- 38:00SPEAKER_03: I'm like, oh, please just don't be football.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: I know we preserve your brain.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: I try we both tried so hard to keep Blake from playing, but we told him if eighth grade he still has this like undying passion because he played soccer, competitive soccer, and er all the other little sports, but he just wouldn't let let football go.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: And so we did let him play, but he did he is just coming off a concussion right now.
- 38:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and knowing my luck, my son's gonna be amazing at football or something like that.
- 38:24SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna be like, damn it.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's it's hard because you don't want to hold him back.
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: The guardian cap does help, and probably by the time he plays, it's gonna be so much better.
- 38:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, more technology, but anyway.
- 38:34SPEAKER_02: Well, it's it's I and I think it's it's cool that the guardian cap thing can't, because you see more and more NFL guys wearing them where they're actually, you know, they're they're finally kind of putting that that coolness, the ego look like aside and saying, No, like this is important.
- 38:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I always liken it back to like Shaq shooting free throws.
- 38:50SPEAKER_02: Like he should have granted them because he was a horrible free throw shooter.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: And that's what everyone told him.
- 38:54SPEAKER_02: Can you actually tell granny us?
- 38:56SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 38:57SPEAKER_02: And he said he said, I will not do it because he was it was the hip hop era, and he's like, I'm not about to look like that.
- 39:03SPEAKER_02: Oh the best free throw shooter in the history of the NBA was underhand.
- 39:07SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 39:07SPEAKER_03: No way, yeah.
- 39:09SPEAKER_00: No, you could do it.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: And he wouldn't do it because it didn't look cool enough.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: So now you so like the But does it look cool and you can see where that's going.
- 39:15SPEAKER_02: I guess where I'm drawing the parallel is like that that guardian cap, it doesn't look cool.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: Like, I mean they look like they look like like they're kids running around.
- 39:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: But but I mean, what's more important, like looking cool or the preservation of your brain?
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: Well, now they have like guardian caps that you can put the stickers on and they're the color of the helmets.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: Like, so it's that's what Blake has like.
- 39:34SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 39:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so even in high school now that we have we are able to get guardian make them look exactly like a helmet.
- 39:40SPEAKER_04: Like you almost can't even tell.
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: It's a little bigger, but ding ding.
- 39:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, a little bigger.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: Bounce it around a little bit.
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know, I know.
- 39:50SPEAKER_04: We have three players that that play full time with guarding caps right now on our on our on ones.
- 39:53SPEAKER_03: I feel like it should be required, especially for younger kids.
- 39:56SPEAKER_03: Like in the high, you know.
- 39:57SPEAKER_04: We we do as a school require them for practice and scrimmages and all that, but in games we make it an option at this point.
- 40:02SPEAKER_04: Uh not uh what school is it?
- 40:04SPEAKER_00: Um they all have them.
- 40:05SPEAKER_04: They can all wear them, they'll logo out of Folsom, their whole team from freshman to J to varsity, all play in-game with them.
- 40:11SPEAKER_04: So it's it's becoming it's becoming more yeah.
- 40:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:15SPEAKER_03: I might let them play if that's the case.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it does help.
- 40:18SPEAKER_00: Like Blake said, it makes a big difference when you take a hit.
- 40:21SPEAKER_02: And then you go watch flag football, like the the the women, the girls' flag football.
- 40:24SPEAKER_02: If you watch that, oh yeah.
- 40:27SPEAKER_02: It is violent.
- 40:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, is it like watching lacrosse?
- 40:31SPEAKER_04: And they're wearing like wrestling helmets, like little we have so the people that make the guardian caps also now have the flag football ones that are that are um the way around open on top for like your hair.
- 40:42SPEAKER_04: But we uh the uh for the girls' ponytail.
- 40:45SPEAKER_04: So we had them we got them varsity this year, so they but they they wrap the whole head and and the back of the head, so even on flag football, they have them out too cool.
- 40:54SPEAKER_03: Okay, well, uh you guys just educated the shit out of me.
- 40:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you got something to look forward to as the sports.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: Speaking of looking forward to, what is something that you guys really are excited about coming to the region in it could be Placer County, but Sac County too.
- 41:10SPEAKER_03: Is there anything that you guys are like really excited about?
- 41:14SPEAKER_00: Well, I first thing that comes to my mind is the soccer field in the old train station.
- 41:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like downtown.
- 41:21SPEAKER_02: That's gonna be really cool because rail yards, yeah, yeah.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: I think that's gonna be I mean, I don't know how that's probably a ways out, but I feel like that's probably something that we love going and watching sports with our kids.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: So I mean the ball's rolling.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: I saw they had the trucks out there, and yeah.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: That that's really cool.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: So we uh we go to the Kings games and football games and everything with our kids, and I feel like having a soccer because our younger plays soccer, it'd be a really cool have you taken them to the soccer public games?
- 41:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, a few.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: Those are wild.
- 41:49SPEAKER_00: They're fun.
- 41:49SPEAKER_00: They're fun, yeah.
- 41:50SPEAKER_00: They're fun.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: Soccer fans are just another breed.
- 41:53SPEAKER_03: They are a different breed soon.
- 41:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the experience of a game, and and uh hopefully with the with the rail yards, it'll get even more, even bigger, like uh like a professional game, like a real professional game.
- 42:01SPEAKER_04: They're some I mean, I guess they're considered pro, but kind of professional.
- 42:04SPEAKER_04: Like semi-pro, but like I think that's gonna take it up even another notch to where it gets.
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: It's like now that the Oakland A's are here temporarily, it feels like the River Cat Stadium is like a real baseball team.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: Sorry, Rivercats.
- 42:14SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 42:15SPEAKER_00: Well, they are real, but you know, you have like the real, the real, real the next level.
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: The pro yeah, major league.
- 42:22SPEAKER_02: When you're comparing a minor league stadium to a major league team, like absolutely there were requirements that are put a lot more money into it, yeah.
- 42:32SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, which is which is really great.
- 42:33SPEAKER_02: It's cool.
- 42:34SPEAKER_02: Um we would love to see, I would love to see Sacramento get a bait as a as a former baseball guy.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah.
- 42:39SPEAKER_03: That would be fun.
- 42:39SPEAKER_03: Is there anything that you guys do season like we're coming into fall?
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: So is there any traditions or activities that you guys have done with your family that you're excited to participate in?
- 42:48SPEAKER_04: One of the things we all almost always do always do, we didn't get to last year was Apple Hill.
- 42:52unknown: Yeah.
- 42:52SPEAKER_04: Getting to Apple Hill in the fall, we always try to do that.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was so hot through like it.
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: It went from hot to rain.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: I think that was part of the room.
- 43:01SPEAKER_02: There was a bunch of early rain and then kind of a relatively warm winter last winter, and then it got cold again.
- 43:07SPEAKER_04: And then coming into Christmas, we always like to go cruise Christmas lights all over Sacramento.
- 43:12SPEAKER_04: Fat 40.
- 43:13SPEAKER_03: Okay, I was about to say favorite Christmas light of the world.
- 43:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Fat Forties.
- 43:16SPEAKER_03: Do you guys walk it or do you try to drive through?
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: We drive.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: I wish we'd walk, but he he doesn't like it.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: He's like, no, we're just gonna drive.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: He's like a get it done.
- 43:28SPEAKER_04: I mean, I feel like at this point with the portion of it, like you would probably get through faster if you're walking.
- 43:35SPEAKER_04: I've seen people do the working.
- 43:36SPEAKER_00: Well, kids cannot do that.
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: They can be on the pedal cart.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: They just can't drink.
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: I don't think they can if you're serving, but you can look into it if you want to.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: This year, the back half is AP.
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: Should be peddling.
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: Hey, he's 18.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: Pedal me.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: I've been peddling you your whole life.
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: We finally pulled the card on my daughter like a couple weeks ago.
- 43:56SPEAKER_02: Like, you need to come pick us up.
- 43:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'd we're not driving.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: Our oldest son hates it.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: Like, even if we're at like a family dinner at my mom's, we'll say, like, if we have a couple drinks, we're like, You're just gonna drive home, it makes sense.
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: And he's like, You can drive.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I know, but it's stupid.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: And he gets so annoyed.
- 44:10SPEAKER_00: I'm like, why do you care if you're driving us home?
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're in the same car, anyways.
- 44:15unknown: Yeah.
- 44:16SPEAKER_02: I just want to relax.
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 44:17SPEAKER_02: I just want to relax.
- 44:18SPEAKER_02: They just want to be on their phone.
- 44:19SPEAKER_02: Is what it is.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, probably that's probably sure of that.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: That was what I loved about when my daughter started driving.
- 44:23SPEAKER_02: I was like, oh my God, like the phone's out of her hand.
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: Like she'll actually have conversations.
- 44:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:27SPEAKER_02: You know, now that we're in the car together.
- 44:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, it's and it it's I mean, it's an unfortunate reality, but it really is.
- 44:33SPEAKER_02: There's truth to it.
- 44:35SPEAKER_02: Like when she's driving, she will engage in a conversation because she's not on her phone.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:40SPEAKER_03: It's true.
- 44:40SPEAKER_03: Crazy what happens when you take the phone away.
- 44:43SPEAKER_03: They become a human again.
- 44:45SPEAKER_06: That's it.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: And like meals, I think that's my big thing.
- 44:47SPEAKER_00: I want us to all put our phones away because we're we're guilty too of if I have my phone next to me picking it up and it's gotta lead by example.
- 44:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:55SPEAKER_02: I just like flip it over.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: I lose that battle.
- 44:57SPEAKER_00: Do you?
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: I'm like, man, at restaurants, I go, I I just wish we would put our phones away at restaurants.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: And even for like the meal time, I guess.
- 45:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:05SPEAKER_00: Just put it away while you're eating and conversating.
- 45:08SPEAKER_00: And like I get it's a different world, but and I don't want to be a whack job mom, but like I'm probably gonna be that mom that's like, all right, everybody's phone's in the middle of the table.
- 45:17SPEAKER_03: First person to touch their phone, does the dishes and then same out same out as gonna be him.
- 45:23SPEAKER_03: First person to touch the phone has to pay.
- 45:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, it it does.
- 45:27SPEAKER_04: It's it definitely helps you be present, yeah.
- 45:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:30unknown: God.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:31SPEAKER_03: And it's only gonna get worse.
- 45:32SPEAKER_03: I had to ask, answer the question, what do I think our culture is gonna be like in a hundred years the other day?
- 45:37SPEAKER_03: And I was like, oh it's kind of scary.
- 45:38SPEAKER_03: Kind of sad to think about it.
- 45:40SPEAKER_03: Like if technology continues, I think we're all just gonna be super isolated.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: I can't even begin to imagine it with the with the rate that like the AI stuff has evolved in the last three months, six months, twelve months.
- 45:51SPEAKER_02: I'm like, holy cow, like it is breakneck speed, and it's crazy.
- 45:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:56SPEAKER_02: I I believe in the trades and more so now than ever before.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like our oldest son, he wants to be an electrician because he knows that that's not gonna go away.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: And they need electricians to build the data boards for AI can't wire a factory.
- 46:10SPEAKER_02: And they're so I mean, unfortunately, unfortunately, I think the answer really is yeah.
- 46:14SPEAKER_02: If you look at what these robots are doing, you're like, holy cow.
- 46:17SPEAKER_00: Hopefully it's controlled a little bit because it's kind of oh yeah, for sure.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's kind of scary to me.
- 46:24SPEAKER_00: Isn't there a movie?
- 46:25SPEAKER_00: Isn't there a movie where like there's like 70 iRobot where like all the Teslas get taken over?
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, that happened, they all got stopped.
- 46:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like there's nobody can drive movies.
- 46:36SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 46:36SPEAKER_03: I I didn't see it, I just heard about it.
- 46:38SPEAKER_03: That's why my car, whatever I drive at any point in time, will always at least be able to take gas.
- 46:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:44SPEAKER_03: Like I'll never go full electric.
- 46:45SPEAKER_02: I he really but it doesn't matter if the computer shuts your car down, it doesn't matter what's running on.
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: Okay, well then you just is you just endorse the fact that you need to get like on a gas car.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: You need to get like a 1978 truck.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: I well I don't doubt that.
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: You're gonna have to crank the window down.
- 47:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:01SPEAKER_03: Because my first car was a 19 something Chevy, stick shift Chevy, single cab.
- 47:08SPEAKER_03: I didn't have electric.
- 47:10SPEAKER_03: You need that back.
- 47:10SPEAKER_03: If you think the world comes, you need one of those.
- 47:13SPEAKER_03: I gotta track that one down.
- 47:14SPEAKER_02: You're not as young as I pretend you are most of the time.
- 47:18SPEAKER_03: Thank you for that.
- 47:19SPEAKER_03: Acknowledgement.
- 47:20SPEAKER_03: No, I am really young, but I am in an old soul.
- 47:23SPEAKER_03: Um, okay, so I know we're crunched for time.
- 47:25SPEAKER_03: You guys have been keeping up with us.
- 47:26SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 47:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:27SPEAKER_03: We have been really pushing this one through, but Dan has a question he'd like to ask you.
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: We're wrapping up.
- 47:32SPEAKER_03: Well, I think so.
- 47:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, I think we are coming up on time.
- 47:36SPEAKER_02: So, yes, unfortunately.
- 47:36SPEAKER_02: We'll have to come back and do it again.
- 47:38SPEAKER_03: I know I know.
- 47:39SPEAKER_03: I feel like we haven't we didn't even scratch the surface on our head.
- 47:43SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: We've just been talking, really.
- 47:46SPEAKER_03: Like, thanks for having a conversation with us.
- 47:49SPEAKER_02: They do just flow and you lose the board and whatever.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: We're just talking about all the points.
- 47:52SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 47:52SPEAKER_03: I think I just looked at the board to be like, have we even asked any of our normal questions?
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: We we have.
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: I think I asked like the five to ten one.
- 47:59SPEAKER_02: Our following is gonna be like, well, that one was different.
- 48:01SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 48:02SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna be like, what did they even talk about?
- 48:04SPEAKER_02: We're gonna keep them on their toes.
- 48:07SPEAKER_02: Um and I'm curious, I I'd actually like to hear both of your answers on this.
- 48:10SPEAKER_02: So we ask all of our guests, this is the last question every podcast, if you could be anyone for a day, dead or alive, who would it be and what would you do?
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: Um, okay, so first thing that comes to mind is like Jackie Kennedy or Marilyn Monroe.
- 48:27SPEAKER_00: Because I'm really intrigued.
- 48:30SPEAKER_00: I'm really intrigued with the Kennedy scandals, like all the rumors.
- 48:33SPEAKER_00: Like what's real, what's not.
- 48:34SPEAKER_00: I would actually have to do that.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: I really yeah, and I feel like Jackie Kennedy probably would know more.
- 48:40SPEAKER_00: Sh well I she knows.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: I think she knew.
- 48:44SPEAKER_00: Well, like I think she knows more than ever.
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: Marilyn would have insight on Crank Sinatra too, though.
- 48:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I want to know how she died, and I don't know if Jackie Kennedy's gonna know that, but Marilyn Monroe would know.
- 48:55SPEAKER_00: But I don't know if I okay, so this is also came to mind.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: Um if I didn't go back as anyone else, I I think what I would love to do is go back ten years ago and spend a day with my kids with absolutely no distractions, doing whatever they wanted, money was no object, and just could like do everything, like as little humans again.
- 49:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like little, like like Christmas time when they were young was the best.
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: And now that you know, it's I I love Christmas, I always will, but it's just different when you have like that magic and that it's just different.
- 49:38SPEAKER_03: What age would you pick them at?
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: Um, so my favorite combo of the two of them was probably seven and eleven, but I would go back to like two and six.
- 49:48SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 49:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay.
- 49:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:50SPEAKER_03: Wow, big answer to follow up with here.
- 49:54SPEAKER_03: You better make it meaningful.
- 50:00SPEAKER_04: Um I don't I don't I when I when you I saw this on the list, I I didn't really have like a person, but I just would like to go be a be the president for a day.
- 50:07SPEAKER_04: Not necessarily anyone in particular, but just to be at that level and to to to see what that entails and to be at that not necessarily the power, just to but just to see like what they know, what they what they know, what goes into all that.
- 50:19SPEAKER_04: Like that is just such an intriguing like that initial briefing.
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: Like you've been sworn in, you're the president.
- 50:24SPEAKER_02: Okay, you're gonna be able to do that.
- 50:25SPEAKER_02: I'm allowed you're gonna go in that room with nobody else, and they're gonna tell you what is going on in this world, and you're gonna be like holy shit.
- 50:33SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 50:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that that that would be like just like what's the document that you have to sign as a president?
- 50:39SPEAKER_03: Like it it can't, it must look like uh make an NDA look like all NDAs.
- 50:44SPEAKER_03: Like as soon as you become president, what you hear in the next four years you can't repeat.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: You're gonna be sniper shot if you ever repeat any of that.
- 50:51SPEAKER_02: And I've got like the world's biggest mouth.
- 50:53SPEAKER_02: My whole family knows don't tell dad a secret.
- 50:55SPEAKER_02: He's gonna tell somebody, like, yo, I could not be a past president.
- 50:59SPEAKER_02: Like, that just would be a few.
- 51:01SPEAKER_00: If you give me a drink, I will tell you all my secrets.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: Like, I I have no secrets.
- 51:05SPEAKER_00: I will tell everyone all my stuff.
- 51:07SPEAKER_03: Let's go get a drink, Christy.
- 51:09SPEAKER_03: I'm like, bear your soul.
- 51:10SPEAKER_03: I'm down for that.
- 51:11SPEAKER_04: It's a lot.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: I tell everybody everything.
- 51:14SPEAKER_04: You're getting everything.
- 51:16SPEAKER_04: And we did a we did a little video and and with Kayla.
- 51:20SPEAKER_04: With Kayla, and uh one of the questions was, you know, what what say something about Chrissy that people don't know?
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, she tells everybody everything.
- 51:26SPEAKER_04: Like literally everything.
- 51:27SPEAKER_04: And she goes, Oh, I don't even want to say it, but you can say if you want.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, I said it, I just said I had diarrhea last night.
- 51:32SPEAKER_00: Nobody would know that.
- 51:34SPEAKER_00: And he's like, okay.
- 51:36SPEAKER_03: Oh, we can so hang out.
- 51:38SPEAKER_03: We can so hang out.
- 51:40SPEAKER_04: Literally everything.
- 51:41SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 51:42SPEAKER_03: Everybody poop.
- 51:43SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 51:44SPEAKER_05: Let's just be real.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: I hate to do it.
- 51:46SPEAKER_05: I hate to not pop in them, just not MM.
- 51:50SPEAKER_05: Subliminal thoughts, when I'm a stop, spinning them, women are caught in wet.
- 51:54SPEAKER_05: Spin him in a clock, spin them adrenalin's dot.
- 51:59SPEAKER_03: People are gonna be like
