- 0:00Speaker 1: We do want to go to some of this audio
- 0:02Speaker 1: because the last few weeks, obviously it's been Radio gold,
- 0:06Speaker 1: as Jerry Jones invariably is. Remember two weeks ago he
- 0:14Speaker 1: was really upset with his weekly radio co hosts Marjie
- 0:19Speaker 1: Chappy and Shawn Sheriff and was not happy with them
- 0:23Speaker 1: the things that they were saying, and he even made
- 0:25Speaker 1: off handed comments to other folks interviewing him that he
- 0:28Speaker 1: could replace fire his radio guys or whatever, and that
- 0:32Speaker 1: all that is. And when we said it, then I'll
- 0:34Speaker 1: just say it again. This is a contracted once week
- 0:38Speaker 1: appearance that Jerry does on his flagship station one O
- 0:42Speaker 1: five three the Fan. There's no quote unquote firing.
- 0:47Speaker 2: He can't.
- 0:48Speaker 1: He could choose not to do the interview the show.
- 0:52Speaker 1: He could choose to do that and if and if
- 0:54Speaker 1: by firing, that's what he means, okay, but he can't.
- 0:57Speaker 1: He doesn't have any claim on those guys who were
- 1:00Speaker 1: at that radio station. That's just a contracted interview. Things
- 1:03Speaker 1: seemed a little more patched up last week despite the loss,
- 1:08Speaker 1: so it was, you know, or coming out of the
- 1:11Speaker 1: buy and so it was a little more patched up.
- 1:16Speaker 1: So now they come off the loss to San Francisco,
- 1:20Speaker 1: lots of questions about Dak Prescott, lots of questions about
- 1:24Speaker 1: injuries and not having the right guys available. Also, Jerry's
- 1:29Speaker 1: family was involved in a car wreck on the way
- 1:32Speaker 1: to the game, right, something like that. Yeah, So these
- 1:34Speaker 1: were a lot of these questions were put to Jerry
- 1:37Speaker 1: this morning. This is again from one oh five three
- 1:39Speaker 1: to the fan in Dallas Fort Worth with RJ and
- 1:43Speaker 1: Sewn And the first thing they asked him was, how
- 1:46Speaker 1: about your thoughts on the loss of the forty nine ers?
- 1:50Speaker 1: What did you make of that game?
- 1:54Speaker 2: Well? I thought that we knew we were going out
- 1:57Speaker 2: there to play it really good team and we basically
- 2:05Speaker 2: I wish we could have eliminate the third quarter, and
- 2:10Speaker 2: you can't do that. But still there were parts of
- 2:14Speaker 2: that game that I really liked what we were doing
- 2:17Speaker 2: under the circumstances, and most of it first half. I
- 2:22Speaker 2: really liked the way that we came back near the
- 2:25Speaker 2: end of the ball game. We gave her a chance
- 2:28Speaker 2: as a good play to turp in there that if
- 2:32Speaker 2: we could have made that play, that makes a big difference.
- 2:36Speaker 2: But that's what you try to do in the NFL
- 2:38Speaker 2: is get in a spot where with three minutes left
- 2:41Speaker 2: to go and turn out situation where we had it,
- 2:45Speaker 2: you've got a chance to win the game. It gives
- 2:48Speaker 2: a good team on the road.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Yeah, So there's one way to describe it. And it
- 2:55Speaker 1: didn't happen in the third quarter. Had a lot to
- 2:57Speaker 1: do with it, fat Cowboys. In the third quarter, it
- 3:02Speaker 1: outscored sixty one to nineteen. So he was asked about that,
- 3:05Speaker 1: about what is about that third quarter in being outscored
- 3:08Speaker 1: in that period?
- 3:09Speaker 2: You're sixty one or nineteen in the third quarters, that's
- 3:11Speaker 2: what you broke down, Yes, sir, in the third quarter. Yes, Well,
- 3:16Speaker 2: I think it's pretty easy to go. The facts are
- 3:20Speaker 2: that our communication in our offensive line we can improve on.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I like our players in the offensive line, but we
- 3:29Speaker 2: can improve on our communication. That's critical that's in there,
- 3:34Speaker 2: and that really played havoc with us there defensively. And
- 3:41Speaker 2: this really has to do with my kind of point
- 3:45Speaker 2: that I want to make this morning is that I
- 3:48Speaker 2: really do see that we've got the players and we
- 3:53Speaker 2: should have the players coming. Hopefully we'll get one or
- 3:58Speaker 2: two back here against Atlanta. But I have a lot
- 4:02Speaker 2: of faith in these players, and I have a lot
- 4:04Speaker 2: of faith in this coaching staff. And so the big
- 4:08Speaker 2: thing is that's what we've got, and that's reality. And
- 4:13Speaker 2: so these players have a chance to get better. Their
- 4:19Speaker 2: eras are up, knocked down, and I'm talking in general here.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Eras are up, and this coaching staff is I know firsthand.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I spent a lot of time around them. The coaching
- 4:32Speaker 2: staff's got their eye on the things that we need
- 4:34Speaker 2: to improve on. We need to improve on communication across
- 4:37Speaker 2: the board, and we can that comes better as the
- 4:40Speaker 2: season goes along. We'll get better with the communication. And frankly,
- 4:46Speaker 2: like all teams at this time, we'll have some players
- 4:49Speaker 2: coming back that have played critical roles for us. We
- 4:53Speaker 2: ought to get better. And we're seven games into this thing.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Seventeen games. Reason, let's get this thing turned around and
- 5:03Speaker 2: have a storybook ending to a rough start.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Okay, that's the story book end, storybook ending, as I
- 5:11Speaker 1: want you to hear this today. Let's have a storybook
- 5:14Speaker 1: end into this rough start. At three and four, the
- 5:18Speaker 1: hosts brought up the fact that Dak Prescott is not
- 5:21Speaker 1: running the running with the ball as much. Is that
- 5:24Speaker 1: a problem? Is he good with that? Would he just
- 5:27Speaker 1: assume not see Dak run that much. How did Jerry
- 5:30Speaker 1: feel about that?
- 5:31Speaker 2: I think it's both you really don't want to see
- 5:35Speaker 2: him with You don't want to see him really take
- 5:40Speaker 2: off with that ball. These guys, these quarterbacks that run,
- 5:46Speaker 2: you know they're going to get injured, and that happens.
- 5:50Speaker 2: It happens to the youngest, happens to the best, It's
- 5:53Speaker 2: happened to that. And so to the end that as
- 5:58Speaker 2: we rely on him to stay healthy, that's an important
- 6:05Speaker 2: part of it. I wouldn't say it's up there, read
- 6:09Speaker 2: letters in the practice facility, don't run, But I would
- 6:12Speaker 2: say that we want him to be smart about it,
- 6:14Speaker 2: and he is being smart about it. However, he will
- 6:19Speaker 2: when he sees the opportunity, pull it down and run
- 6:24Speaker 2: with it. As we know. And the situation the other night,
- 6:29Speaker 2: you could say, well, when does making yards count any
- 6:33Speaker 2: more than that? It's easy to see, it's easy to compare,
- 6:37Speaker 2: and that's cricket. That's fair when the opposing quarterback you've
- 6:41Speaker 2: got is really complimenting what they're doing with their offense.
- 6:46Speaker 2: With his running, but I'm satisfied with in terms of
- 6:51Speaker 2: his ability to run, is there there's no question about
- 6:55Speaker 2: that as far as him physically he can run and
- 7:00Speaker 2: if we look back on it, you'll see times this year,
- 7:03Speaker 2: but we won't die in the future to do the
- 7:08Speaker 2: kind of job with his arm and get the ball
- 7:13Speaker 2: out to the get the ball out to the outside.
- 7:15Speaker 2: You see us trying to do that a lot and
- 7:20Speaker 2: make up for anything we might want to do risky.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I don't want to see him take those kinds of hits.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Did you hear him say that's cricket, that's fair, it's
- 7:33Speaker 1: classics area, you know. I think if we start doing
- 7:36Speaker 1: this every Tuesday, when you have a bingal list of
- 7:38Speaker 1: the word have a big go card of things like
- 7:43Speaker 1: fair and critical and smiling and trite, all of those,
- 7:51Speaker 1: all of those different ones hypothetical, he said, I'm not
- 7:56Speaker 1: going to hypothetical with you. You know that's wort. So
- 8:01Speaker 1: so there's there's different ones. Clearly, there's there's different ones
- 8:05Speaker 1: involved with that. And we'll hear some more from Jerry
- 8:08Speaker 1: coming up next hour, and some more in the four
- 8:10Speaker 1: o'clock hour as well. But it's it's always a pretty
- 8:13Speaker 1: entertaining piece of radio to hear him. It's almost like
- 8:18Speaker 1: you can hear the the gears turning as he's trying
- 8:22Speaker 1: to formulate the answer that he wants to give them.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And I'll give him credit for this. He does, in
- 8:33Speaker 1: his own inimitable fashion, try to find a way to
- 8:37Speaker 1: answer their question. I'm always reminded of this. There's some
- 8:42Speaker 1: athletes who just you know, you better ask the question
- 8:47Speaker 1: the right way or they're not going to answer it,
- 8:52Speaker 1: or they're going to give you maybe an answer you
- 8:54Speaker 1: don't want. Here here's the perfect example. Last night after
- 8:57Speaker 1: the Dodgers won, Walker Ruler, who pitched really well, you know,
- 9:02Speaker 1: five shutout innings and got the win, was in the
- 9:05Speaker 1: press conference. And Walker can be a little bit of
- 9:09Speaker 1: cerbic at times, depending on what you ask him and
- 9:12Speaker 1: how you asked the question. And someone asked him, was
- 9:17Speaker 1: it a different feeling for you? And is it a
- 9:20Speaker 1: different feeling with this team now in this World Series
- 9:24Speaker 1: as opposed to twenty twenty with the way that was,
- 9:29Speaker 1: And it's clear what the guy was leading with. He
- 9:32Speaker 1: was trying to say because it was the pandemic and
- 9:34Speaker 1: he had to play on a neutral side and there
- 9:36Speaker 1: was limited fans in the ballpark and all that stuff.
- 9:39Speaker 1: But Walker, Bueller's response was what's different about twenty twenty
- 9:43Speaker 1: or something like he wanted him to say it, and
- 9:46Speaker 1: the guy, to his credit, said, well, playing in a
- 9:50Speaker 1: neutral ballpark, and he oh, oh, yeah yeah. And then
- 9:54Speaker 1: he went on and he gave a pretty good answer.
- 9:55Speaker 1: But a lot of athletes they want you to ask
- 9:59Speaker 1: the question in a w that doesn't put them off.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I'm always thought, I'm always remembering what Reggie Jackson once
- 10:06Speaker 1: said to a report of ours when I worked in Dallas,
- 10:09Speaker 1: when he said, and he kept, he kept denying everything
- 10:12Speaker 1: the guy was trying to ask him. He said, you
- 10:15Speaker 1: need to do a better job of asking the question
- 10:18Speaker 1: that you want to answered in order for me to
- 10:21Speaker 1: give you the answer you want. Is it's Reggie Jackson.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Then he f bombed him and told him a couple
- 10:28Speaker 1: other ways in typical Reggie Jackson passion. But anyway, Jerry
- 10:34Speaker 1: and I give him credit for this. He does try
- 10:36Speaker 1: to find a way to answer the question, even though
- 10:38Speaker 1: he kind of sometimes goes around the garage to get
- 10:41Speaker 1: to the barn to find a way to answer it.
- 10:44Speaker 1: All Right, up next, we've got him conceivable here on
- 10:47Speaker 1: a Tuesday afternoon on sports Radio AM thirteen under the
- 10:50Speaker 1: Zone in the iHeartRadio app
