Shaun: Alrighty, everybody, welcome back for episode number five of Bald Enough to Say It. Today, as of today's recording, it is June the 28th. So yesterday was Screw Day in Houston. That's why I'm wearing the Houston hat. I'm just gonna throw that out there. R.I.P. DJ Screw. But R.I.P. Dog man, so much good music in there. Like, I don't know why that just yes. Barry: RIP bro, that was like my childhood, man. DJ Screw bro, Screwed and chopped. Did they even make those more anymore? Shaun: I mean, there's still some that you can find, but I mean nothing's like the original OG DJ Screw. I mean, different time. Yeah. But let's talk about our weekends. That was something that all of the Houstonians got to enjoy this weekend, probably out there swaying the boulevard and stuff like that. Yes. But Jen, how was your weekend? Barry: Bruh. So, so, so good. Man. Jen: Yeah. Barry: Swinging them them slabs about. Jen: I mean it's been good so far, busy. Yeah. It's been busy. Lots of moving parts, but progress is progress. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: Or is it you know? you go. You're trying to make any kind of progress. Barry, what about you dog? Barry: Well, I mean, like Jen said, we're I guess most of the way through it, but ⁓ I kind of like gave y'all a little ⁓ a little something that I was gonna show y'all. So I'm gonna send y'all to pic. This was not the weekend, but it kind of was a precursor to the start of the weekend. So Thursday morning, ⁓ oldest was getting up, getting ready to go to strength and conditioning. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Okay. Jen: Mm. Barry: And like I hear her yell, bro, and like freak out. So I run into the kitchen area. She's like, yo, something like crawled on my foot. And like I hear her yell, bro, and like freak out. So I run into the kitchen area. She's like, yo, something like crawled on my foot. I don't know what it was. I feel like it was just a cockroach. Bro, I have never seen a centipede in my my life. And it was like an eight-inch long, full-on, venomous centipede, bro. So Jen: Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ my god, no. Shaun: Holy crap, dude. Jen: No. ⁓ no. Instant panic. Burn it down. Shaun: Jeez. Barry: Luckily she had socks on and it didn't pinch her or bite her, whatever it does. I think it's a pinch. I think the back things is where it delivers the venom, but I heard that those bites are super painful. I guess that dude like Dr. Venom or something, that crazy dude that'd be on YouTube and stuff that like takes bites and stings from the worst creatures in the w I'm like, why would you do that? But he says this is like really, really painful bite. So thank God it it didn't get her. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: ⁓ yeah. Shaun: Man. Mm. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Josh. Barry: Or like crawl up her leg or something crazy. ⁓ it was hard to kill too. Luckily when she knocked it off it fell on its back and it couldn't get back on its legs. So I had to smash it with my foot flop or couple, like some good smashes, bro, and it was still like moving. So I'm like, I'm not trying to pick this thing up in a paper towel and it like comes back to life and like I'm not one of those white people that's like, Yeah, let's go this pick this thing up and it's gonna be okay, bro, you know. Jen: That's wild. Yeah. Shaun: Mm. Jen: ⁓ my god. Yeah, no, no, yes. Shaun: Let's investigate. Barry: Let's just investigate. No, bro. Let's kill this thing and get rid of it. So I got the dustpan, I scooped it on that joint, and luckily it was trash day. I took it right out to the trash to the curb and we got rid of it, bro. But the first time in my life I've ever seen one like it live, like scarily enough. So that was Thursday. But I mean, outside of that, it's actually been pretty chill weekend. Jen: Absolutely. Yeah. Shaun: That's crazy. Jen: So have you finished moving yet or are you still in the process of Shaun: Yeah. Barry: ⁓ I mean, yeah, we're nah, we're done. I mean I there's stuff I need to do around the house, just like little to dos, but moving one. ⁓ no. Well the good thing so Becca Becca's no. Becca starts freaking out and she's like, Is there like a nest somewhere and I'm so we start like researching. Luckily they are like they're solitary creatures, they hunt by themselves like Shaun: Ha ha ha. Jen: No, I was just saying because I'm just mi Yeah, be since there was a terrifying creature in your kitchen, we're moving now. Shaun: She's saying like since there's a creature in there. Mm-hmm. Jen: Ugh. Literally getting goosey. Barry: We're not gonna f not knock on wood. We're not hopefully gonna find a nest or babies or anything. So ⁓ it is ⁓ around the time when we usually do our quarterly spraying. So I'm definitely gonna bring it up and make sure there's maybe a little something extra. So but I think it's just all the rain and stuff. It's things are out moving around with all this the moisture we got going on. But pretty crazy, bro. Pretty crazy start to Thursday morning. So Jen: ⁓ Mm. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah, maybe. Mm. Shaun: Yeah, it's crazy. Man, like, so it might it might be something that's going around because that's actually a part of my weekend too, which is wild that you mentioned that. It's not a centipede or anything like that because I don't know what the heck it is. So earlier this morning, I got up and I was doing some stuff in the kitchen, and I kept hearing like this rustling sound above the refrigerator. Haven't opened any cabinets or anything yet. Jen: I'm so glad she has dark fun. ⁓ no. Shaun: So I don't know if it's maybe like a squirrel like above, like in the attic or something like that, or if there's maybe something that's going around. I d I don't know. Jen: Mm. Mm. Barry: Mm. Well, it could be. We've had squirrel problems at both our houses. At our old house, they got in the attic and like made a full on nest. And I had to I feel like I've told y'all the story, but I literally had to like f I found the hole. It was like in the like the little like facade awning like underneath our roof, kind of gable area. Well they had chewed a hole in the wood. So I put like a particle board up and they yo, I Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Mm. Mm. Shaun: ⁓ yeah. Barry: Did that like on an afternoon. And they, yo, I heard them like at nine o'clock at night. It was the craziest sound. And I'm like, yo, they're literally trying to get back in. And sure enough, I wish I would have taken picture. But sure enough, one was stuck in the hole that they had chewed on the wood that I put up. And the other one was literally trying to push it through the hole. But yeah, it was like a cartoon type. Like I was like, yo, I don't know why I didn't take a picture or a video of it. But that took like three days to get them out. And then when we moved here, they chewed holes in the ⁓ Jen: shoot through that. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: You're not gonna stop me. Yeah, so funny. Shaun: Okay. Barry: underneath our floorboards in the liver room we can hear ⁓ going up and then so you just gotta time it and you gotta use metal. So like at the old house I had like some corrugated metal that I put on that piece of wood. Well here I got some of that metal like thicker than chicken wire but metal mesh. It's it's almost like a grill mesh. And I had to like, you know, bend it around the wood and then screw the wood into but yeah, squirrels, they they are little deviant creatures, bro. Jen: Mm mm, yes, yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Mesh stuff, mm-hmm. Shaun: Mm. Jen: This is Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Mm. Shaun: I get it, man. It's hot. It's Texas. So everybody's trying to find like the coolest. Yeah. Jen: Everybody needs a little A C in their life, yeah. Barry: But an out an attic, bro? I feel like that's hotter than it outside. It's just like a sauna up in the attic. Shaun: That's true. But I mean, at least you're not in direct sunlight at that point. I mean, there's not really a cool place to go in the Texas heat, so I don't know. Barry: True, true. You might be getting a little benefit. True. Yeah, not for them creatures. But dang, hopefully it is just that and nothing t too crazy. Is Ace freaking out about it? Is he just like Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Hope yeah. I mean, I'm nah he's not freaking out. No. I mean, I went like I tapped on the outside of the house because my my kitchen is like on the outside wall. So I tapped ⁓ out there to see if there was anything that moved or if I can hear anything from the outside, but I couldn't. So I don't know. And I could just be I could just be making this all up in my head and maybe there's just something with the ice maker in my refrigerator that's making a sound and this is the first time that I've ever heard it in the Jen: Did you see what it was at all, or no? Mm. Mm, mm. Barry: Maybe. Shaun: two years that I've had it. So who knows? Yeah. But anyway, I mean that's that's been the majority of my weekend is just kind of doing some stuff around the house. And I feel like that's the the same thing with me every weekend. Just being an adult. Being an adult sucks. So over it. I'm tired of it. Yeah. Doing the yard. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Doing the yard, grocery shopping, paying bills, like Jen: Maybe. Mm. Ugh, it's the worst. Barry: It's lot of responsibility. It's a lot of responsibility. I hate doing the yard. Yep, I did that Saturday, bro. Out there and about died in the heat, man. Jen: Mm. Barry: Mhm. Get paid and it's all gone. Just watch it. You watch it sit there for a day and then you're like, All right, and it's no more. Nothing. Shaun: I'm over it. Jen: Mm. Shaun: All gone. Yeah. And then nothing left. Man. Well, glad to catch up with you all. ⁓ I mean, we love being able to meet ⁓ each other after we've had a little bit of time away. So like I always like to catch up. ⁓ Jen: And just yeah. Mm mm. Barry: All right, before we move on, I do have to admit a parenting failure. We talked about ⁓ last week. I felt horrible for it. But at the same time it was a life learning moment for my oldest. So Jen: Mm. What happened? ⁓ Shaun: ⁓ what did you do? Jen: So sometimes you just gotta do it and feel bad about it. Barry: Well no, I mean, it was honestly it wasn't anything that I I just had a brain fart, it really. Like she so this whole week she's been trying to like move her work shifts around and like get extra hours. Well, she took a shift on for Saturday and she th for some reason she kept saying she started at noon. Well, so I guess I don't know if that just subconsciously got stuck in my brain, but then we figured it out that she was actually going in at nine yesterday morning. Well Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Cool. Barry: Her thing is she's like, I want you to wake me up. The alarm's too much. It like scares me, whatever. And I was like, Girl, I'm not always gonna be be be on it and I'm gonna forget. Well, yesterday morning I forgot. And me and my youngest went out running and we got back like at nine forty five and the garage woke my oldest up and she comes out, she's like, ⁓ my gosh, I thought you were gonna wake me up. Like just distraught. And I was like, Girl, I'm sorry. Like I've I I own that I messed up on this, but Jen: ⁓ no. Barry: This is my point to why I want you to set an alarm because it's not on me and I'm not gonna be there to get you up all the time. Like this is one of them times where if you had set the alarm, it probably would have worked out better. And then and then on top of it, she had gotten these new tank tops that were blue or like and she washed it with her work shirt and she didn't look at her work shirt, bro. It was like it was like tie dye and it was stained and yo, she was just Jen: Yeah. Mm. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: ⁓ no. Stained. Like no. Girl was going through it. ⁓ no. Barry: man, it was a tough start to her day. But luckily, ⁓ ⁓ up out of a movie, bro. Just yeah, for real. Just the family, all the things that could go wrong went wrong. But I felt bad. Like I said, I did it was on me 'cause I told her I would get her up at seven forty five. But got up and just I was just thinking I I'm gonna go for a run once the youngest gets up. I mean we didn't leave till like eight thirty, so I just completely out of my brain and Shaun: The last few days for you have been just like straight up out of a a s sitcom or something. Yeah. Man. Jen: Mm. ⁓ Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: I felt bad, but now this morning she had to be there at ten and she got up on her own with her alarm. So it was one of those moments. So they give they're called infractions if you show up later. So she got an infraction, bro. She was yeah. I was like, all you can do, like making excuses, that ain't gonna work. Just be like, I overslept, I didn't get up, I'm sorry, it won't happen again. That's like that's all you can you just own it, s say what you know, you say your piece and just move on, do better. So Shaun: Dang. Nice. Is she getting any kind of trouble or anything, or is she good? ⁓ Dang dog Jen: ⁓ no. ⁓ Mm-hmm. And try to do better. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: But yeah, her work email is my email. So everything comes through me. And like at eight o'clock last night, I saw the infraction, bro. I was like, when I went to tuck her in to bed, I like, yo, just let you know I got your infraction in the email today. And I kind of laughed and she didn't really think it was funny. So don't worry. But she is definitely one of those people who wants to be as perfect as possible. Like she sets very high standards for herself. So she was definitely upset, like when we got to Shaun: Mm. Jen: You saw the infraction. ⁓ Shaun: Sing bro. Man. Right? Jen: Don't pour salt in the wound now. Mm. I'm sure. Barry: Like but she we got her there by ten, yo, we got her there in fifteen minutes. I mean she didn't have makeup on or none of that. Like her whole routine was shot, but I was like, girl, we can't do nothing. What's done is done. Get ready. Let's go. And we got her there. Put put your work clothes on and then that's when the I know, I know. Like I say, I said it last time, bro. We mess up as parents. We don't always get it right. Jen: Put clothes on and let's go. We gotta move. Shaun: She trusted in you. She trusted in you and you let her down. Jen: Mm. ⁓ Shaun: Yeah. Nobody's perfect. We're all human. We're all gonna screw up at some point. Yeah. It's a part of life. Yeah. Jen: For sure. Barry: Yep, it happens. But now it was definitely a learning moment for all of us. So Jen: But again, that is a good lesson to learn and that's what I mean with like let them learn it while they're in the safety net of home. Like you are still able to be there, get her to work in fifteen minutes, you know, that kind of thing. So it sucks, but at least she's learning that lesson when she has the support to get her through that. Barry: Yep. Shaun: Mm. Barry: Yep. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Well that's what I told her. I like, if this is the worst thing you do, then you're still a good employee. I mean, you've never been late, you're always available, like you're there, you do your job. Jen: Yeah, you're fine. Yeah. And things happen. We're humans. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. And they'll understand. I mean, as long as it's not a pattern, it's not a consistent thing that happens, she'll be good. Yeah. Nice. Trying to get everything all set up. Cause I was doing other stuff. ⁓ man. Well, good. Well, if you are new here. Barry: Things happen, but yeah. Yeah. No, no, she won't let it be. Like I told you, she already set her alarm this morning, so she was she was on it. 'Cause I would have forgotten again this morning. I'm in here working trying to get ready for the episode, bro. She walks out, I'm like, Good thing you said 'cause I was not even thinking about it. I was doing other stuff. So but yeah. Jen: Mm. New or wild. Ha ha Mm. ⁓ Shaun: Please go and check us out on our website, www.baldenoughtosayit.com. You can find all of our socials there. You can find our store to our merch. So if you are returning, you've probably seen us rocking some good merch. You see Jen pointing at the shirt. Barry's got his right there with our floating heads on it. ⁓ go and cop some for yourselves, your friends, your family members. ⁓ show that support and that love because we love you as well. ⁓ we did get a lot of some some good news and some conflicting news. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: The NBA draft was this past week, and there have also been some major free agency moves. Barry: Mm. Major big trades, bro. One well, one affected both me and Shaun in a very dramatic way. I mean, all of them are kind of intertwined when you think about it. It is a lot to process. So what Shaun, what are your thoughts? I mean, the big one, Giannis Antetokounmpo, no longer a buck. Shaun: That's true. Yeah. I'm still trying to process. That's true. So big one, okay. If you know me, yes, if you know you if you know me, you know that I am a Miami Heat fan. And the Miami Heat acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks. Jen: Tell us your feelings. Barry: Big time, bro. so what are your thoughts? How are you feeling? How are you feeling? I mean, he's he's gonna demand a lot, and they gave up a lot. Shaun: traded so much away for him though. Man, it's I did I did call it sp he is. And I get that. And I even talked about I don't know if we were talking on the pod or if this was offline, but Jen: Which you called by the way too. You called that. Barry: It happened when we had just finished recording episode four. Yep. We were Shaun: Did it? Okay, so y'all didn't get to hear it. You'll probably hear it like later on at some point. But I specifically mentioned one player that I did not want to be included in the trade. Yes. Terrible. Khalil Ware. We lost Khalil Ware in that trade. He's such a young, great talent at the center position. Very much so. Yes. And he Barry: Me and Shaun talked about this and unfortunately his boy Very Giannis esque, I feel too. But I think a better shooter overall. Like a more versatile player. Shaun: And since he's so young, he's got all of this potential to be able to grow and to get bigger and to be able to do all the different things that Giannis can already do. So I I mentioned it before, like if Giannis is available, you have to at least put your bid out there. It only makes sense. But are we gonna mortgage the future on this player that is technically outside of his peak now? Still a very dominant player. Still a very dominant player. Yeah. Barry: For sure, for sure. Jen: Yeah. Barry: Yeah. ⁓ very much. I mean still top five in the league. Yes. Shaun: But like it's it's basically do or die now. So I I'm at a sixty-five percent approval rating on it. Over fifty, yeah. Yeah. If we can if we can acquire a shooter, because we're likely gonna lose Norman Powell, if we can acquire a shooter, then I think it'll play out pretty well. I don't know. Yeah. Barry: Mm. I mean over fifty, but Jen: That's that's pretty good. That's pretty good. Barry: Interesting. I just yeah, dude, I just I don't know. Even if y'all get a shooter this year, I still feel I don't know if it'll be enough. Because the Knicks are probably gonna run it back. They'll be able to at least run it back this year, I think. I don't think they're gonna lose much. ⁓ they did? I didn't even know that. To who? ⁓ he's an unrestricted free agent, right? Okay, I got you. But you think he'll get money and he'll go elsewhere? Shaun: Well, I mean they already lost Mitchell Robinson. Mm-hmm. Yeah, he's gonna be he's well not I don't Yeah. He's not technically gone yet, but he is gonna be one yeah, he's not gonna be there. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: I mean Boston is looking for a big man. I don't I'm not opposed to he's just horrible at free throws, bro. Like No, I don't want to trade with him. He's an unrestricted free agent. Let's just go sign him. I mean that's their their weakness for sure. Shaun: New York's not trading with Boston. No. That's true, yeah. I mean I've been seeing a lot about the Lakers. Which the Lakers need a center. Yeah. He'd be a good one. Jen: Yeah. Barry: They need a big. They need a big for sure. So do you think that the Bucks took the better package? Do you think it was a better package than the Celtics? I want your honest opinion, do. Okay. Shaun: Yes. I would I would say yes. reason why I would say yes for that is because the Celtics aren't going to ⁓ away the players and the picks. It would basically just be Jaylen Brown and maybe a pick or two. Barry: They said yeah, it was gonna be Jaylen and two first round picks. I wanna say it's the ones they had in this year's draft that happened. So they would have had the twenty seventh and fortieth picks. That's what Boston had this year. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. So I'd say Milwaukee took the better deal. I mean, you got a Tyler Hero who is a a great second option. ⁓ he can control the tempo of the game. He's really good at scoring when he locks in. And then you've got Khalil where, like I mentioned, love the young talent. I mean, he's got so much potential, so much upside to him. And then all of the picks on top of it, they got the better deal. And Jaime Hawkes. Barry: Yeah. Well and the Jaime Jacques and what's the other dude? I can't say his name. The I don't know if he's like Slovenian, Slovakian, one of those kind of dudes. Shaun: Yeah, I don't know how to say his name either. Even as a fan, I don't know how to his name. And when you think about Giannis, he's wanted to be out of Milwaukee for the last year plus now. Yeah. Who wouldn't want to go live in South Beach and play in Miami? So I mean Barry: He and I feel like Miami has always been his preferred destination over most places. I don't know, bro. I feel the opposite of you. I feel like they took quantity over quality. Not to say I mean, I'm just thinking, I think if you look at Jaylen Brown versus any of those players, he makes you right now. They're not better than they were with Giannis now that he's traded. I d I d I don't think that. I'm not saying that I'm right, but I feel Jaylen would have gave them and I know that the owner, his or what I read, I don't I haven't talked to the dude, but this is what I read is that Shaun: Really? Mm-hmm. Barry: He was scared it was gonna be another Giannis or Myles Garrett situation since he's the owner of the Browns as well as the Bucks, that he was gonna force him w his way out, which to me it's like, okay, if you feel that way, you still take him and then flip him for but and what we can talk about this. Bro, have you heard the ridiculousness that people are saying Jaylen Brown is not like a like nobody wants him 'cause of analytics? Did you hear what what's his name? Bobby Marks said. Shaun: Mm-hmm. I know, I haven't heard that. Barry: So this d man said on and I don't know where he who he got this from, he said that analytically Jaylen Brown is the seventh best player on any team and that his his trade value is over inflated because of analytics. That is dumb considering he finished s he finished sixth place in the league in MVP voting. He has the most wins since he's come into the league if you count regular season and playoffs. He's like Shaun: Seventh is stupid. That's ignorant. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jen: On any team though, too. Like seventh for any team. Barry: I think six or seven wins above Jokic in that span. Like dude is a winner. He had his best season. So I don't understand like how like I like analytics because I think data is good and it can give you insight into people and and systems and players. But when you just look at numbers and you don't just use the eye test, like if you see Jaylen Brown play, dude is one of the best two way players in the league, arguably the best two way player in the league right now. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. I mean that's that sounds like clickbait though. Like there there's no way that anybody really believes that he's the seventh best player on any team. Barry: That's again, that's just but it's crazy that ⁓ and you might be right. I w well and that crazy thing is is Stephen A even like he heard that and he was like, even with me and him beefing right now, like saying that he is not ⁓ valued as a trade asset is ridiculous. So Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. I think that it is a very potentialing issue bringing him in to basically any other team other than Boston right now, just because of how disgruntled he seems like he is. He he he's a great player. Like you just mentioned, he's a great two way player, one of the best in the league right now. He's got still a he's still got a few years left, probably before he really hits. Yeah. Barry: Yeah. Bro. He's got three years on his contract, so he's a desi like he can't really force his way out 'cause he's stuck for three years. Yes. He can choose his own destination, but you're gonna have him for three years. Shaun: Before he can really choose his own destination. Yeah. So I think bringing him in, yeah, bringing him in, still having the contract that's gonna be there, like that could be an issue if he's not happy. Because he's he's gonna do the same thing that he does right now. He's gonna go into his social media, he's gonna have all of his live streams, he's gonna talk about the refs, he's gonna talk about the different things in the locker room, and that's you can't have that on your team. So I mean Barry: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: While he is a great player, I think that it's gonna be difficult to move him for that reason. It has to be a team that just purely has the structure and they want a great two way player. Barry: Yeah. Yeah. I I agree with you there. It is gonna be well, that's the thing that just makes this whole thing for me as a Celtics fan stressful because it's like now there is this underlying or even overlying, just like, man, what is gonna happen? 'Cause is he gonna get traded? You rather happen sooner than later. So like you said, people can move on, or is he just gonna drag out and I ⁓ to me like kind of going back to the whole thing of like it was it a better package? I feel like the Bucks also know if you hand Boston Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Giannis and you just take Jaylen Brown and two picks, you really just gave them a really decent shot at a championship if Giannis is healthy this season. Like they're gonna be one of the better, if not the best team in the East with that. I mean, on paper, you don't know if it'll work out, you know. You don't know if Giannis and JT would work well together. You think of what you know to now they would, but I mean, sometimes those ⁓ those egos don't always mesh too. But JT though, man, I feel like he's Shaun: ⁓ yeah. ⁓ absolutely. Yeah. That's true. And Barry: He's just one of those guys that he wants to do what's best for the team. He's just gonna go out and hoop. Like he's not worried about, you know, kinda what you're saying with the Jaylen. Like Jaylen wants to be out there and wants to be talked about where yeah. And JT's like, bro, I just wanna hoop. If I'm the guy, great. But I just really want to hoop. So I mean, he does, bro. That's his idol. He does, bro. Good for him. But Shaun: Yeah. He wants to be the guy. Yeah. He just wants to make Kobe proud is what it is. JT just wants to make Kobe proud. Man, but no, you were talking about different personalities coming together and if they're gonna mesh or not. What do you think about Ant Edwards and LaMelo Ball playing together? That's gonna be exciting, bro. Barry: Bro, it could be it can be the most exciting backcourt in the NBA, but it might be the most tumultuous, bro. I don't know. I don't know. It's gonna be f ⁓ a yo with the craziness, bro. Dude, I don't know, man. It might be the grimy wolves out there, bro. But nah, they should be fun to watch. I mean Shaun: Between the child support and and the and the driving tickets, like it's about to be crazy. It's about to be grimy hours up there in Minnesota. Jen: Yeah. Barry: Losing Naz Reid is a big loss. That was he was he was kind of some one of their tougher guys, their enforcers, but I mean Lamelo can hoop, man. Dude can give can give you a lot, but I don't know. It's gonna be interesting. I mean I I just and I mean, I know the Boston was talking with the Wolves and trying to get Naz Reid as part of a J B trade, but they want Boston's asking price is insanely high too and that's why it they ended up moving over to ⁓ to Charlotte and going with that one. Shaun: Yeah, that is a big one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't I I think that this is about to be some of the most exciting basketball that we've seen in the NBA in a while. Like it nothing can touch the Olympics from a couple of years ago. Can't touch that. But if we're talking NBA gameplay, those two together are incredible. Yeah. Barry: Nah, that was top notch basketball, man. Yeah. It it should be high energy and fun to watch. I I would agree with that. I just I like you said, I wonder if the egos are gonna be able to come like work well together because they are very, very unique and high ego guys, very much. Jen: Mm. Shaun: I'm just I'm honestly just ready for the the postgame interviews. Because they both they both just say whatever is on their mind. They both just say whatever is on their mind. Jen: Yeah, yeah, it's been it'll be Barry: Bro. I think I saw some clips. Yep. They just say the most random stuff, dude. It's hilarious. So they there should be some good pressers after those games. But I hope they're winning. Dude, that's what I'm saying. I hope they're winning. 'Cause if they start losing, them dudes are gonna be going off and losing a lot of money. 'Cause they think they they'll just feed off each other thing, going at each other's neck. So it'll be interesting for sure. Shaun: Right? We should keep a tally of how much they're paying in fines. That'll be hilarious. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Well, the theory right now is that they will probably win a title in 2028. And the reason why is because of Julius Randle. So Julius Randle was with the Lakers two years later, they win a championship. He goes to the Knicks two years later, they win a championship. Yep. And now he's leaving the Wolves 2028. We'll see. Barry: Mm. I saw that. I saw that. I did. Yep. Two years after they he gets traded away, those teams have won. I did see that. I mean they I still feel like they probably do need another piece or two. I mean you got McDaniels and then what's the dude? They just ⁓ re-signed the guard that they got from Chicago. I don't I can never remember his name. He's the dude with the he's the dude with the braids. He's it's an African name and I can't remember it. Shaun: Yeah. Chicago. ⁓ DeSumo. Is that yeah. Yeah. Barry: Yes. They re-signed him. I know they did. So he's I mean, their backcourt is gonna be dangerous, like for real. Yeah. Yeah. McDaniels is one of the better like perimeter defenders in the league for sure. And he can still give you a bucket too. So it's not like he just does one thing. He can definitely produce on both sides. So they're they're backcourt, but then I mean you just got Gobert, man, and I he's definitely on the decline. His defense isn't what he used to be, and he is not gonna give you that many points usually typically. Shaun: Yeah, solid. And Jaden Daniels is a lockdown defender. Or McDaniels, yeah. Yeah. ⁓ yeah, for sure. Yeah. We'll see. See what the Frenchman does. Barry: So it'll be interesting. They they'll probably go out and get some yeah. Well they'll probably go out and get some some decent pieces, role players maybe, but some some movement. But yeah. I just don't know what Boston does, man. I just I keep hearing that Shaun: Yeah. Jen: If you maybe Shaun: Yeah, a lot of movement. Boston loses. Boston they lose like they always do. They're losers. I'm just saying. I'm not trying to fight. I'm just saying that I'm just saying that, I mean, they're they want too much. They've they've got a phenomenal GM. Like I can't argue with that. They've got a great like Joe Mazzulla has grown on me so much over the years, dude. He's a heck of a coach. So ⁓ Jen: No. Barry: You're funny. You're funny. You're funny. Anyways. Anyways. Jen: Stop trying to fight. It's too early in the episode for that. Barry: I mean again You know you love Mazzulla bro. You love him. He crazy. He says some off the wall things. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Absolutely crazy. Like he's kind of maniacal, but I mean that's that's why he's yeah, that's why he's such a great coach. Yeah. So I don't know, we'll see what they do. Yeah. Barry: Yeah, I would agree with that. That's why I like them for real. Yep. But now I'm interested to see. They do need a big I wouldn't be opposed to Jalen Duren sign a trade. Somehow they can make that happen. Or I even I don't know who they would go after, but I heard Denver's supposedly interested in a J B, but I don't know what they would give up for him. Jen: That's why he likes them. It's his vibe. Shaun: That's true. Well, Houston has also put anybody on the other than Barry: I don't want Houston. They have nothing of value. Şengün, I'm sorry. That dude is so inconsistent, bro. Yeah, no. Don't give me that guy. He can get you a bucket, but they need a rim protector. And he's not a rim threat either. They need somebody who's a rim thread and a rim protector, and he is not either one of those. So nah, I don't want Şengün if that's who they're talking about with Houston. No thank you. Yeah, no, it would be Duren or I I don't I know that Denver ain't giving him Jokic, so Shaun: Really? He can get you a bucket though sometimes, man. Yeah, that's true. That's true. I'll let you live with that. Jen: Yeah. Barry: I don't know what that deal would look like 'cause I don't think they have any other bigs that ⁓ the only other one that I can know of is what's his name, Valentinus. But he's not a rim protector nor a rim threat. So I don't see. Yeah, he's definitely on the and he was trying to get out ⁓ out of his Denver contract and go play overseas last year. I remember they were talking about that, but the NBA, ⁓ they guess they got an arbit arbitrator or something and they decided he had to fulfill his contract, so he did. So I don't know, even though he'll be back th in the NBA this season. So yeah. Shaun: Well no. ⁓ yeah. He's kind of up there in age too. Mm. That's fair. Yeah. Well, I mean, you never know. There's a lot of moves that happen. People go to different places. Barry: It I mean, bro, some big dominoes have already fallen, like you said. So it'll be interesting to see what else happens in the 'cause what free agency t starts Tuesday night. So ⁓ I'm hoping some movement happens and we'll start s here and seeing what what that might look like in Boston and around the rest of the league. And like Bron, what's he gonna do? Is he gonna resign with the Lakers? Is you think? Where do you think he goes? Back to Cleveland? Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ I think he's done with the Lakers. I think so. I don't know. I think I think he's got a couple years left. Maybe this year and next year it's gonna be left. I I think he goes back to Cleveland. If if not this year, then next year. Do you need Harden? I don't think you need Harden. Yeah, I don't think you need Harden. I think you get rid of Harden. Barry: I would agree. He's got at least two solid years. But they can't afford him, bro. They're like a they're a double apron team already. They don't have them I mean, I wouldn't say that. I would take Bron over Harden any day, but I don't know what can they're not gonna cut him. They're not gonna he's not really tradeworthy anymore, is he? So I don't know how you move him. Shaun: He's not tradeworthy at all. How much does he have? Do you know how much he has left on his contract? Barry: I do not probably a lot of money 'cause he he demands it. Shaun: Yeah. I I think you get rid of Harden and pick up Bron somehow. Bron, he can take a vet minimum at that point. If he wants to end his career in Cleveland, take the vet minimum. Just go play, go for the ring. You've got Mitchell that's gonna be there to help out with it. ⁓ so I mean I think you I I think that makes the most sense. But I'd love to have him back in Miami, of course. Why wouldn't I wanna have him back in Miami? Two years left? I don't know. Barry: I would think so. Yeah. And He has two years left. How much? Shaun: Does it say? Barry: Probably in the thirties, I would think. Thirty something million I would bet. And it might Jen: says this means he has two years remaining on his contract as now. The agreement is worth eighty one point five million in total with fifty two point five mil guaranteed. Barry: So f probably like thirty five and then mm, he's probably like thirty and then it'll probably jump up to like forty something to finish it out. Shaun: Yeah. I think the Lakers could buy that out though. If they wanted to. Like they can pair him up with Luka That takes Luka off of the ball. Harden can be the ball man and then Luka can play more free. Just spot up and save his energy. Because you need that. Yeah. Barry: I don't know. Mm. Kind of like what he did with Kyrie. He did play better under like with Kyrie next to him, taking the focus off of him. Hmm. Bro, do you think that was a good contract? 180 million for Austin Reeves, bro. They overpaid for that man, bro. No, they overpaid that on my opinion. Shaun: I think Harden helps out Reeves too. Like if you think about the way that Reeves plays, no. He's a great player, but no, I don't think so. He's never been all NBA. He's never been an all-star. He's never been like defensive player of the year, offensive player of the year, anything like that. MVPs, nothing. So yeah. Barry: Nope. Nope. Nope. I would agree. When I saw that I was like, I mean, good for him, go get your bag, but Lakers are silly to me. Shaun: Yeah. I I think that they overpaid just out of the fear of losing him. Barry: 'Cause was he a restricted or unrestricted? I wonder if he was restricted if they would have let him. Shaun: I don't even know. I would think that he would probably be I think that he would probably be restricted. Barry: Right. That's I was like, I would have let him go see what he could get on the open market and decide based off that. 'Cause I mean sometimes I can't bite you 'cause teams are willing to overpay, but for you just to be go out and overpay right off the bat and be like, Well no, I don't know. To me it's just like go see what you're worth and we'll we'll decide whether we think we're worth that to us. But I guess I'm a little more ruthless too. So Shaun: And then come back and you know. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we saw that play out in the NFL with Saquon Barkley and that didn't work out well for the Giants. Yeah, you never know. Yeah. Barry: I know. It didn't work out well for the Giants. So it does. It's a roll of the dice, but I mean, you never know. I don't know. But yeah, nah crazy dominoes. It'll it'll be interesting next episodes if any other major moves happen by the once the ⁓ free agency period opens up. Shaun: Yeah. One that I'm definitely keeping an eye on too is Ja Morant happens with him? ⁓ Barry: Dude, what speak of untradable assets, like I don't feel like there's any desire or value for this man in the NBA anymore. Unfortunately. I think he has with all the off court antics, bro. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: I don't think so either. He's killed all of his value, yeah. Mm-hmm. I think that anywhere that he goes, Barry: Which is so sad. Jen: Some bald takes. Y'all. Barry: No do you know about Ja Morant Jen? I'm I don't know if you do. Dude is I mean, I don't know how much time we want to spend. He likes guns a lot and he likes to show them off. Not necessarily legal ones at that either. Shaun: ⁓ I'm just saying, yeah. I mean Jen: Nope. Shaun: ⁓ man. Jen: What's he doing? Okay. Shaun: Yeah. Hanging out with the wrong crowd is really the bulk of it. Jen: Okay. Barry: Hanging out with we talk yo, just like we said, show me your friends, I'll say your future. John Morant should have listened to that when he got to the NBA, bro. Cause he was out here trying to be a hardcore thug and flashing guns and ⁓ no, there's been multiple attempts to try and help him out. Like suspensions, yeah. Yep. Just still comes back just like I don't care. Does just what he wants, which I mean, good for him to to be who he is, but Shaun: Show you your future. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: Yeah. And the team hasn't like gotten to him with that or like said anything about it? Shaun: There's been so many suspensions and like attempts at sending him to like therapy and rehab and all kinds of different stuff and Jen: ⁓ And he just don't care. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Okay. Barry: To his own detriment, unfortunately. Yeah, I just I don't know, man. He had such a promising future when he first got into the league and he was I mean, he's still an electric player to watch, but I just don't know if you're like that's not somebody I would want in my locker room or franchise, unfortunately, from what I've seen and know based off media coverage. Sadly. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: ⁓ yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. We'll we'll see how it goes. Like he's he's another really exciting player that has kind of just given up on his future. Yeah. Kind of like I mean, Zion being stuck in New Orleans, he's another one, like so much potential coming into the league and then go to New Orleans and get stuck there. And what do you do? Jen: Fizzled. Barry: Fizzled out, man. Yeah, fizzled out real fast. He was ⁓ Yep. Yep. Well and I've seen people saying that or I've read stories that Boston potentially could look at dealing with New Orleans and get Zion and ⁓ Trey Murphy out of there, but Shaun: I think getting them out of New Orleans would be the best thing for them. Barry: Is it an Anthony Davis type deal where you get him? You and I mean Boston does have a good big man system and they are like you said, they have a good coaching staff. Joe Mazzula has definitely cracked some players and like made them better. I just don't like dudes just been injured. Again, I'm always scared to lead with if he's healthy, he's good, because that's a And you might not be wrong, 'cause the same thing that happened to Anthony Davis. Bro got out and won him a chip, man. I don't know. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. I think that has to do with where he is, though. Same thing that happened 80. Yeah. So I think getting him out of there would be great, but we'll see. We'll see how it all plays out. Yeah. I mean, it's a it's a heck of a place to go and party, and Zion likes a party. He likes to party. Man. But yeah, we'll see how that goes. We'll see what comes about from the from the rest of free agency and what that looks like. What about the World Cup, though? How's the World Cup looking? Barry: That's sad that New Orleans is s does that to players, man. Fun place. Stinky. It's very stinky, but it's fun. He does like to party. Yeah. Jen: Mm. Barry: Yep. Yo, have you been keeping up with it, Jen? Jen: Mm-hmm. A little bit. It's been some Ugh, let's stop. It's still fresh. I'm still upset about it. Barry: How's your boy Ronaldo doing? No, I'm joking. Shaun: ⁓ my gosh. How okay, so I don't know if y'all have seen this, but the the statue of Messi, is that real or is that AI? Barry: I have not seen it. What are you talking about? Jen: I have no idea what you're talking about. Yeah, what do you mean? Okay. Shaun: Jen, see if see if you can find it, Jen. ⁓ so there's the statue of Messi. And it from the pictures that I've seen on social media, it's it looks huge. But from the back, it looks really weird. I don't I don't know if do you see it? That can't be real, right? There's no way that that can be real. Jen: I'm gonna TikTok it. That Barry: Jen found it. She's laughing already, so Jen: Surely this is not real. Okay, no. Barry: Show it share it. I have not seen this, Jen. Share your screen. Jen: Hold on. There's like a bunch of videos, but hold on. ⁓ okay. Share. I have no clue. Like look at that. Shaun: ⁓ man. There's Barry: So w where is it? Is it outside one of the stadiums or what? ⁓ my g no, bro, that's ridiculous. Shaun: I have zero idea. I have no idea. Jen: What is that? Surely this is not real. Barry: He got cake, bro. They gave that man some cake, man. They gave him some cake. Shaun: ⁓ my god. Yeah, I I I I feel like it it has to be AI. Jen: Surely it's not real. Barry: How does that even just pop up? Like where did that even come from? Shaun: I have no idea. May so maybe it is real. Maybe it is real. Somebody put it somewhere. Barry: That's crazy. I'm assuming that's in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I would imagine, because that ain't gonna p just pop up in the States, I don't feel. That's crazy. Yo, where is that? Shaun: No, no, it's not gonna be in the States for sure. I saw that and I was like, okay, I think the GOAT debate is over. I don't think that he can be the goat after having a statue like that. Right? Yeah. It's like, who is that? But goodness. Yeah, it looks like it. Jen: Yeah, that's a little just wild. Barry: ⁓ that's a horrible s it's like the it's like the D Wade statue just messed up the whole thing, bro. Just messed it up. Come on, man. That does look real. That does look but I wonder is that in the States or is that now that looks like another country. Yeah, look at the stoplights and stuff. I feel like that's definitely another country. But that's crazy. I had not seen that at all. Yeah, it definitely is ⁓ very suspect from the back for sure. Jen: So okay, maybe the statue is real, just all of the all of the things are AI. I don't know. Shaun: Yeah, that's for sure another country. Yeah. Yeah. So I mean, that's your boy though. That's that's your boy. Jen: ⁓ That's your boy. Barry: I mean, I honestly I know I was going against Ronaldo last week. I just ⁓ y'all know me. I'm somebody that likes to just troll people to a certain extent. So I really don't I'm I don't keep up with Messi nor Ronaldo that much. I just go based off what I have read, I would give it to Messi just because I look at numbers and to me it's hard to beat those. Shaun: Yeah. Mm. That's fair. Jen: Weren't you just the one saying data doesn't give you the full picture and it's nice to have, but you can't you have to use your eyes to see. Barry: It doesn't. I and again, ⁓ like I I did, and that's why I said I from what I have seen watching Messi versus Ronaldo, especially in this World Cup, there's a vast difference in six goals to one, maybe. Does Ronaldo have one? I'm not trying to talk crap. I'm asking legitimately. Messi scored six in three games. Shaun: Just talking about those analytics. That's true. Jen: Mm-hmm. He has one. He has one. I okay. I feel like I'm not gonna get too emotional this time. Shaun: Okay, outside of Messi and Ronaldo, how else is the World Cup going? Like, what is that really looking like? Barry: ⁓ yo, I feel bad for Iran, bro. They were so close to making it. And last night's game, the little legit one of the last games. I think it was while they were playing simultaneously. It was ⁓ Algeria and was it Croatia? No. Yes. Maybe. I think they they came to a draw. No, it was Algeria and Egypt. That's who it was. ⁓ Jen: Yeah. Maybe. Barry: Whoever if one of those teams would have won that game and the other team would have lost, then Iran would have been in as the last team. They went to a three three draw, unfortunately. So Iran was left off at the and I I swear I checked the score. It was like right before I went to bed last night. It two two with like eight eight ⁓ like two minutes to go in the game and ended up three three. So it had to be a crazy ending for somebody to score and then somebody else to score in and ⁓ stoppage time. So Shaun: Mm. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Dang. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I do feel bad for Iran because then they went through a lot just trying to get they did and they had some really Jen: They fought for it, but yeah. Shaun: Do you think that it was do you think that it was a setup like that though? Barry: I don't know if it was a setup per se, but they were treated differently and they were treated worse than the remainder of the teams from what I've read. So I ⁓ Jen: I've seen so many things about that. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: And I think one of their main players did an interview afterwards, kind of stating something along those lines as well of like the treatment and the fairness of and things like that. So I don't know. Barry: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. So it was ⁓ and they had a goal call back in their game, I think. Or no, who was it? ⁓ I think it was Iran. Were they legit like stoppage time and the dude was off by like was that Portugal? Somebody like in the last seconds of the game, they were off by like a toe and it would have counted. Shaun: Mm. Yeah. Jen: No, I think that was the Portugal game. Yeah, that was the Portugal game. Mm-hmm. Yep. Mm-hmm. That was the portable game. Shaun: It's like K D. K D, like toe on the line. What are you gonna do? Yep. Barry: But yeah, one your little inch, bro. One extra shoe size hurts ya. So, but nah, it was ⁓ it was a fun end ending. ⁓ France dominated in their last game. And dude, I can't remember his name. He had a hat trick in 30 minutes, which is insane. It wasn't Mbappe, it was another one of their better players. Yes, it starts with a D. Yeah, for sure. It typically does start with the D, bro. ⁓ Jen: Well Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Mm. Man. Jen: It was the D, D, something with a D. Shaun: Hey, doesn't it always? ⁓ man. Jen: I'm Kenny's gonna be so mad that I'm not remembering this right now. Barry: So that was a fun one to watch. Like I say, the the last game last night was good. ⁓ Messi and Argentina won pretty easily. He came in second half off the bench and scored on a free kick to go up to nineteen World Cup goals. He's extending that lead and then Mbappe didn't score. So that that gap is growing. I think he's still at sixteen so far. But ⁓ good stuff. But yeah, now on to the to the knockout stages and Shaun: Mm. Yes. Barry: Coming out. It's already ⁓ I mean, today we're recording on Sunday and the first knockout game is in about forty five minutes from now, so Shaun: Yeah. So what we're gonna do as a show, I'm glad that you mentioned that we're going into the knockout rounds. We're actually gonna fill out a bracket to see how well we can do as a show with assuming that we know that we have the ball knowledge to go along with soccer. So Barry's gonna pull up his screen and we're gonna go through. We're gonna talk about our picks for the knockouts and really the remainder of the World Cup so that we can pick a champion here. Jen: Mm. Mm. Shaun: So let's start on the top left with Germany in Paraguay. Barry: Paraguay. Yes. I would this one to me is an easy one. I feel Germany will dominate this one. Shaun: Germany. Jen: Germany easy, yeah, for sure. Shaun: Yeah. So we can sure do Germany there. Alright, who's up next? France, Sweden? Barry: Yeah. Jen: Brand. Barry: I would think France. Jen: France for sure. Barry: Mm. Shaun: ⁓ You gotta help me out with these. Canada? Okay. Okay. Republic South Africa, Canada. Jen: Africa Canada. South Africa Canada? Is that what that is? Okay. ⁓ I don't Barry: Yes. Yeah, South Africa. Yeah, Republic of South Africa. I'm honestly gonna go with South Africa. Jen: ⁓ really? I was thinking Canada. Shaun: Really? I was thinking Canada too. Barry: Would you I mean okay, we can go that. I'm cool with that. I I'm I'm always down to pick a a underdog. Jen: There's a couple that that in full disclosure this is very influenced by my husband. But I did he really did I made him give me a whole rundown this morning about why and where. So some things I agree, some things I was like, I don't know. Barry: It's all good. Kenny knows what he's talking about. I respect Kenny's opinion. I was gonna say Shaun: ⁓ he probably knows more out of all of us. Okay. Why and where what? Tell us more. Jen: I feel like that's ⁓ Shaun, it's a it was a whole conversation, like an hour long conversation. We don't have time to do all that. Yeah. But he's he really was like the first ther the round of thirty-two is pretty easy. It's pretty clear most of the time. Most of the games and the way they're lining up are pretty clear who's gonna be the winner. It's really once you get down to sixteen gets a little tougher on some games, and then quar quarterfinals are like, ooh. Shaun: Okay, never mind then. Don't tell us more. Don't tell us more. Barry: Yeah, usually. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Mm-hmm. Yeah. That's where you're really it's it's gonna be hard to pick. Jen: And even on the finals, he kept going back and forth. He's like, dude, it really could go either way right here. So we'll see. Yeah. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. That's fair. All right. ⁓ Barry: ⁓ I think Netherlands but over Morocco. Jen: Yeah, yeah, for sure. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Okay. Jen: Don't even play with this next one, Barry. Don't even. Don't even play with this next one, Barry. Don't even. Shaun: What? Barry: No, I'll give you that. ESP. Spen. ⁓ I'm sorry, I was looking at the next one. ⁓ I don't know, and I'm not trying to talk crap. Did you watch Congo last night? They played a really good game against Austria. Jen: What? No, that's the next one. Shaun: ⁓ Portugal. Jen: Portable. For sure. Yes. I but that's Croatia. What are you talking about? They play Croatia. Barry: ⁓ okay, my bad. Okay, I'll give you that. No, no, no, you're right. I was thinking Congo, they're on the other side. No, you're good, you're good. I agree. Jen: Don't be confusing me now, all right. It took me a long time to study this darn chart. I even had to write it down so I Shaun: And then yeah, I think you can do Spain. Yeah. Jen: But the next one for sure thing. Yeah. Barry: Espania. And then I'm gonna be pretty confident. Now I think USA will be Bosnia. I really do. They are a better team. If they lose to Bosnia, it will be a very big embarrassment. Like straight up. Not to s to disrespect Bosnia, but the United States is a better team. Shaun: I was gonna say this is where bias comes into play. Jen: Yeah, they they've done really well. Yeah. That's rough. Yeah, that's rough. Barry: After that round, I think my bias will fall off. ⁓ Belgium or Senegal. Senegal's played well again. This might be one where I pick an upset. Because Belgium has not looked solid and s they looked okay their last game, but they did not. I don't know. What do you think, Jen? Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Which it should. Senegal. Jen: They have. But I think Shaun: But does changing from the groups to the knockouts, does that change their gameplay? Barry: I don't think so. Jen: Sometimes not a ton, but sometimes. Barry: What do you want to s you want to say, Belgium? Jen: Yes, that's my vote. Barry: Nope no upsets, all right. Shaun: Now, Brazil Japan. That sounds like a fun. That sounds like a fun game. Brazil? Jen: Okay. Barry: Okay. That one should be easy. Jen: Brazil, for sure. Although Brazil ha yes, Brazil for sure. Shaun: Okay. Although Brazil has what? Barry: Yeah. They ⁓ their best player Neymar has not played yet, but I I don't know if it's is he likely to come back? Jen: What do you mean? Which was very controversial apparently because he was either out on injury, I think it was injury, and but they still picked him for the national team. So people were like, Why? Because there's other people that they could have picked that they didn't, but they picked Neymar. I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, but even when he has been healthy, like I was just talking to Kenny about this the other day, and again, I'm only slightly in the orbit of Barry: Yeah, he's injured. It's like a hamstring or quad or something. Shaun: ⁓ Barry: Mm. Shaun: Yeah. Okay. Barry: 'Cause if he's healthy, he's one of the top five players in the world. Jen: the game, like I'm not a super diehard fan. But even I was like, all right, I feel like Neymar, one of the most expensive tran buys ever. I think he still has the record for that, but don't quote me on that. But it was huge, this huge big move to PSG. And then he has done like I what I nothing kind of really fallen off. So the fact that he was injured and he hasn't been performing seems interesting. Barry: He might mm. Yeah, they haven't done much with them. Hmm. Nah, but they still have a lot of talent on that team. I think they'll they'll beat Japan for sure. I don't know. This one's a toss up for me, honestly. Ivory Coast played really well versus Germany and they should have beat them, but Norway's got Haaland and he they're really good. No upset there. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: They do. They do. For sure. ⁓ where are we at? No. Nor yes, Norway for sure. Mm mm. Norway's really strong right now. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: They are. Holland's ⁓ they played well against France, but they did not play him in the f game against France. And it showed for sure. Jen: He's a beast. Yeah. Right, they gotta rest ⁓ when they don't need ⁓ When they don't need ⁓ They were guaranteed, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: Yeah. Yeah, 'cause there was no they they gained nothing from winning that they were locked in the second spot. So I agree with that. The the move for sure. Shaun: ⁓ yeah. Jen: Yeah. Barry: Alright, then we got Mexico or Ecuador. This one Shaun: Or Mexico? Jen: Mexico for sure. That one's a it's gonna be a good game, but I think Mexico. They've been playing pretty well. Shaun: It's be a good yeah. Barry: I I would I'll lean Mexico just 'cause we're from San Antonio we are in the San Antonio area, but I would not be surprised if Ecuador comes out on top. I would not. Straight up. I could really see that one like 'cause Mexico did not look good against Korea and they barely won that game. They got outplayed for a lot of it. They do, this is true, and so it's hard to go against that. Yeah, they are gonna be playing in the Mexican city, so Jen: Yeah. That is one I could see like maybe maybe an upset. But True. But they do kind of have like a home field advantage. Like they're close to home. Yeah. Shaun: Mm. I am Barry: Now this one I I know England has been favored, but they have not looked good. They have not looked good. Harry Kane, I know he's a he's a baller. Jen: Mm. But they're such a strong team. He is. It's his last World Cup too, so you know he's gonna go hard. Which he did on the on the last game. ⁓ yeah. Yeah, and one of was Harry Kane. ⁓ Barry: I don't know. Do we go safe? They put up two goals. I think they just won two one, right? Or was it two ⁓ Yeah, he got one. He became I think he became the all time leading English scorer for World Cup goals. Like for their country. I think so. I don't know. Congo played good, man. This is the one I was talking about. Shaun: Mm. Jen: I believe it. They did play good, so maybe it could upset. I think my vote is still Barry: All right. Jen: That's not easy. Shaun: Is it though? All right. If Argentina loses, don't say don't say I didn't say I told you so. Jen: Yeah. Barry: Yes. Jen: For sure. Barry: I feel bad though because Dude, I mean this but that's why they play the games, man. But yo have ⁓ Jen: Yeah. But Argentina's ⁓ as much as we wanna talk mess about Messi versus Ronaldo, Argentina has a very strong team. Barry: They are very good. But Cape Verde became the smallest nation to make it into the knockout stage. And it is, Shaun, I found out that they call it by population. That's how they determine size of the country. So Cape Verde is the smallest. But there were multiple African nations, which was a big deal to make it into this knockout route. So good stuff. Let's Jen: So they still have their good run. Shaun: Population. Okay. Jen: Do it. Yeah. Pop off Africa. Okay, what's the next one? Barry: Next we got and this is not this is not Austria, this Australia versus Egypt. I don't know, bro. I might go Australia on this one. I think the Sakaroos might surprise some people. I'm gonna Jen: Egypt. Shaun: Australia. Jen: Australia. Mm-hmm. Shaun: I was lean in Australia too. Jen: Ooh, all right. All right. Go ahead. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: They had bit they had a few good ⁓ games. Go ahead. Barry: Egypt didn't look that good yesterday. Or when I watched them play. Okay, then we've got Switzerland versus I think Algeria. I'm gonna go Swiss. Algeria did not look that great most of the group stage. ⁓ that's the wrong box. Jen: Algeria. Mm. But yeah, Switzerland, I think. Mm-hmm. Okay, now this next one is the upset. Barry: This is your upset? Columbia or Ga you think I could go with Ghana. Ghana look really good. Yep. I'm down for that for sure. Shaun: Are you picking Donna? Okay. Jen: Ghana. Yep. I think the upset is Ghana. Kenny hat went on a whole spiel about ⁓ there's usually one team that like really is an upset and like they do really well and go really far and he was like full bets for Ghana. Yes, yeah. He was like full bets on Ghana this this time. Barry: But Ghana's a really good team too. Yes. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: And Columbia kind of cause they went pretty far in the last World Cups, but I don't think they've looked as good as their team did last World Cup either. I'm down for that upset. All right. So now we've gotten to the round of sixteen. This is typically Shaun, this is where the actual World Cup has started was the round of sixteen. This year is the first year, it's the round of thirty two. So adding one more round to the brackets. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Hmm. Okay. Yeah. So Germany and France. Jen: Here's where it starts to get spicy. Barry: So here it does get a lot more tough to pick a team. Jen: I still think France. Barry: I'm gonna go with France based off what I've seen in the group stages. Like I say, Germany struggled against Ivory Coast. France has just went out and flattened people so far. They have not struggled at all. And they've got Mbappe and the dude who scored the hat trick. Like they've got talent, De Mele, yes, that's correct. So Jen: Mm. Dimbele, I think, is what I I just looked at. Yeah. Shaun: All right, France it is. Jen: France. Which is kind of upsetting for Germany 'cause they Germany is a very strong they yeah. But to be knocked out that quick, but again it's just kind of the placement of where it falls. Barry: They were one of the favorites coming in. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: But add yeah, and th that's the kind of the craziness of adding this this new bracket is now you're gonna it's gonna make a lot of ⁓ difficult and tough games to start versus like Jen was saying, typically your first round you see your weaker teams easily get knocked out by your better teams. Jen: Mm. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. So Canada and the Netherlands. Jen: Mm-hmm. Netherlands. I think that's where Canada goes bye. Barry: I would say Netherlands too. Yeah. Canada hasn't looked that great, honestly. And the Netherlands looked a little slow to start, but they definitely have finished strong in the group stage. ⁓ Jen, I think your boy I think your boy ends. I think your boy's done. I think he's out. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. Portugal and Spain. This is where it gets fun. This is where it gets fun. So we're picking Spain. Jen: All right. I feel like this is what ⁓ this is where it gets spicy. I I'm believing in the dream and I'm picking Portugal. Barry: I would say Spain. No, okay, I'll ride with you 'cause honestly, Spain has looked really s not as good as they typically do. Like and I think even the commentators like in their last game they were like this is not what the defending Euro champions should look like going in so I I'll okay, I'll ride with you. Shaun: I'm th I'm thinking Spain too. Y'all going Portugal? Jen: Not great. Yeah. Not it. Yeah. Mm. Shaun: Okay. Y'all go Portugal, just have it noted that I'm saying Spain. I'm saying Spain here. Barry: All right. I ⁓ your boy Ronaldo better show up. This is his chance. Jen: ⁓ I'm really hoping. I'm really hoping. Have you guys seen the theory though? Because I everybody always talks about them all being a script. Like everybody knows. They do it for all of the sports. ⁓ so there was one on TikTok that was like Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: No. I'm not I just that would take so much organization and I don't think human beings are as organized as we think we are. Jen: It really would. And I think there like you guys are already mentioning in the in the AI stuff, like there's way too many egos involved. You could not know. Barry: No. I d you couldn't pay somebody enough. Like these dudes, like, no, I don't think so. I mean, I get it, but Jen: Yeah. But this girl was like, ⁓ the colors of the like whatever is yes, is the color of the winners. So yeah. Barry: People be reaching for so much yes. Shaun: They say that about the Super Bowl every single year. Yeah. Yeah. I don't think so. Barry: No. I'm gonna ride with USA and versus Belgium. Belgium has not impressed me, and USA has, so I would ride with that. Jen: I Yeah, yes, I agree. I agree. Barry: ⁓ brah. We will see. Jen: I agree. Shaun: And taking Brazil. Barry: Yes or no, yeah. I was like Jen: Mm, yeah. Yes. No, yes. Yes. Yes. Shaun: Always like Barry: I would yes. Especially if they ever get if they get Neymar back at any time. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Mexico and England. Mexico? Jen: This isn't I That's a tough one. Barry: I think I don't know, this is a tough one 'cause like I say, England has not impressed me from what I've seen, but neither has Mexico. Shaun: 'Cause there's Jen: But I well exactly, I think both of them have played very similarly. Like they're that's a pretty good it's a good game because they're very like even in kind of how they've been playing, but I do think ⁓ England has a slighter edge. They tend to perform better. That is true. All right. Shaun: Yeah. Mexico still has home field advantage though. Barry: ⁓ I don't know. That's true, Shaun. I don't know. I'm a ride with Mexico. I'm a ride with home court or home team. Shaun: like I'm picking England but y'all go Mexico All right Jen: I'm picking England in my head. Let it be notated. Barry: All right, make the notes, y'all, Shaun's variated. Jen: Mm. Shaun: And then if we go down, I'm assuming that we're picking Australia on this next one, right? Jen: Mm, no. Barry: Haha, you're hilarious, bro. You hilarious. Yes. It's gonna be hard to go against Messi, unfortunately. Shaun: I'm just saying. Argentina. All right. Well let's go. Jen: For sure. And this the team that's around him, the support that's there. Barry: ⁓ wrong. Yeah, he's got a good squad. I'm gonna go ride with Ghana still, bro. I think Ghana can can can can do it. Shaun: Let's see. Jen: I agree. I agree. Shaun: All right, cool. Let's go gotta. Jen: Which again I think will make for some really cool, entertaining matches. Shaun: Yeah. Then after that we are in the quarters. So France over the Netherlands. And then Portugal over the US. Jen: For sure. The show. For sure. Yes, I think Portugal over. I think Portugal over US. Mmm. I think Portugal. I do think Portugal is gonna go into it thinking they've got it in the bag because of previous mm mm. No, I think it's gonna be a good game, but I do think Portugal. Shaun, you're the tiebreaker. Barry: No. Nope. Nope. USA has a better team than Portugal. They have a better team. Shaun: You're making the US over Portugal. Barry: Nope. Home field, USA's gonna beat Portugal. Yep. Shaun: Alright. So well I said Portugal, so let's let's jot it down as Portugal and then we can note it that Barry is saying USA. No, this is our bracket as a show. This guy. Barry: All right. Note it. Barry picks USA. Note it. This is not my bracket. This is their bracket from here on out. Jen: Note it, note it that Barry said USA. ⁓ Shaun: Alright, so we're putting France and Portugal. They are moving on to the semis. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Then on the other side of the bracket we've got Brazil and Mexico. Brazil? Yeah. Barry: Brazil. Jen: I I agree, I think Brazil. Sorry, Mexico. Shaun: And then Argentina, are we still rocking with Ghana? Barry: Yeah, no, I think I think Ghana's yeah run on there. Jen: I think Argentina I think yeah. I think they'll get again, I do think it'll be a really good game and I think that it will be entertaining, but I do think Argentina will come out on that. Shaun: Okay. I mean Yeah. In my bracket, I had Australia gone and they would lose to Ghana. So All right, so now we get down to the nitty gritty. semis. Is it gonna be France versus Portugal? Barry: Mm. Jen: Near a goof. Barry: Semmis. Jen: Yes. This is the tough one. Barry: I mean I think it'll be France whether it is Portugal or the US. I think it would be France. Jen: I do. I I think it would be free. Shaun: Okay. So France and then Portugal goes down to the constellation. Barry: Yep. Shaun: And then Brazil, Argentina. Jen: So tough. Again. I I don't know. I think if Brazil can kind of Shaun: I'm assuming y'all want to take Argentina, is what it sounds like. Jen: 'Cause again they've played kind of mid if that makes sense for them. If they can like get some fire, then maybe. I don't know. I'm gonna Barry: think Argentina's got it easily. Again, again unless Neymar's back, I don't think Brazil has enough to beat Argentina. I don't. Jen: That they're gonna do much. Shaun: Okay. So Argentina's going to the finals, Brazil going to the constellation. Barry: I would that would be my guess, but Jen: Okay. Shaun: Who is third place? Portugal or Brazil? Brazil over Portugal? Okay. And who is your twenty twenty six FIFA World Cup winner? Barry: Brazil. Jen: Probably. Probably. France. Barry: This is a rematch of last for of last World Cup too. Jen: I think it's France. Shaun: Okay. Nice. So sounds like the winner's gonna be France. Argentina's gonna be second, and Brazil is gonna be wait, you say Brazil or Portugal? Brazil, right? Brazil. Brazil's gonna be third. So we'll see. Jen: Dun dun dun dun Viva La Fang. Barry: I'd say Brazil. Jen: Brazil. But in my dream world it's gonna be Portugal and it's gonna be amazing and yes, they're gonna just surprise everyone. But ⁓ dreams sounds much better. Thank you. Barry: Called the delusional world, Jen. That's called delusion. Shaun: ⁓ man. Barry: Whatever you wanna label it as. Just like living in your emotions. Sometimes we just gotta live in the real world, the logical world. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: I'm not living in my dream world. I'm just there goes those emotions again. Shaun: Mm-hmm. ⁓ man. Well, we're gonna keep track of this. We're gonna see how it goes throughout the different matches that come along, and we will see what everything how it breaks down, how right we are, how wrong we are. ⁓ if you how correct Jen was. Jen: How correct Jen was. Barry: So we we we guessed France is gonna do it this year. It's not gonna be a repeating. Argentina's not gonna defend, huh? Okay. I would agree with that. I really do. I think France has looked the best so far. And yeah, Brazil, I think, will take third place. Yeah. They have. Jen: No, I don't think it's gonna repeat. Mm mm. I don't think so. Shaun: Yeah, we said France. Yeah. All right. Let's check it out. Jen: Yeah. If they can hold on to it, if they can keep the momentum going. Shaun: Yes. So you all tell us in the chat what do you think? Like how do you think these games or how these matches are gonna go, like how it's gonna break down? Does your final match me match our final match as well? ⁓ who are you think is gonna take home the FIFA World Cup? ⁓ that's a really fun thing that we're gonna be doing here. We're gonna keep track of it to see what everything looks like. But you start to talk about emotions, Barry. You started to get into the emotional side of things. Barry: Let us know your thoughts. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: You know me. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Love Island. We talked about it last week. Jen: Hey, hey, hey. Shaun: Come back to talk about it this week. I will I will say that I've done better about watching it. I think I'm on like episode eight now or something like that. So I'm I'm trying. I'm putting in the effort for it. It still sucks, but I'm putting in the effort to see how it all comes together. So what's going on? Tell me, update us on ⁓ on the the messiness of Love Island, guess. ⁓ Barry: Way to go, Shaun. Jen: There you go. There you go. And it's still miserable. Listen, I feel like we have to spend all of our time here. We do. And for good reason though. Barry: The la ⁓ my gosh, dude. ⁓ Yo. It but it goes to my my my bold take from last week. I still like just watching the I don't know how many episodes probably was it since we talked? Like four. I don't watch the what is it, after sun. I don't watch those two podcast chicks talk. So I just watch the the craziness. So that one was last night, so I didn't I don't know if anything was said or brought up, but Shaun: Barry was hype last night. I'm just saying. ⁓ Jen: Mm, probably like four, yeah. Shaun: That's insane. Jen: Yeah, I do sometimes, but not a ton. Mm-hmm. Shaun: ⁓ Jen: Not anything interesting. Barry: Shaun, this was this was the point that we talked about last time on the episode was House of Love or Casa Amor bro. ⁓ Casa Lamore as Shaun calls it, bro. But ⁓ it's this part's and it's like I said, this is always the part where I just like I lose so much interest because ⁓ the aspect of it all these the ⁓ okay, I'll even remove it from the emotional, the irrational aspect that these chicks apply to this situation. Shaun: Casa de Moore. Jen: Yeah. ⁓ Barry: To me is it's just it's just that there's no logical reason as why you wouldn't think what happens happens. Like I don't know. Jen explained I I think Jen knows what I'm getting at, so I'll let Jen explain it. Shaun: Mm. Jen: Okay. I do, and I can I can agree to an extent of the irrational of it. I do think this is a really good example of just the differences between men's brains and women's brains. I I think Casa Amor women want because this is what they do, and this happens every season, no matter how wild the men get, because they get a little glimpse. They get sent a video about what the men are doing. Barry: Very much, very much. It is. Shaun: ⁓ here we go. Barry: Everyone. Every time, bro. That's the thing that I think takes it to another level. It's like they get they get their feelings hurt because dudes are around other dudes and they have expectations. Like now he's gonna go in and he's gonna shoe these women they're gonna shoe these women away. Okay. And I'm I don't wanna again, I always say this, I don't wanna generalize, but I know we have all said things in different crowds that I wouldn't want people in other crowds to hear, right? Can we all agree with that? Like Jen: Uh-huh. They expect. Mm. Yeah, for sure. For sure. And now they're out here, mm-hmm. Shaun: ⁓ yeah, of course. Yeah, absolutely. Barry: When you're hanging around your boys or you're hanging around your girls, and I think even girls probably do this. I don't know, because I don't like I don't you know it's gonna be if you're hanging around those type of people, the people you find or you feel the closest to, you're gonna say things that are more vulnerable and that you may not say in front of other people. And one of the things that these dudes said was like, you know, they went in and they were like, ⁓ so and so, I'm now I'm on the blondes now, or so and so, who is that? Like, just Shaun: For sure. Jen: Yeah, for sure. Mm-hmm. Barry: And I don't want to go to the point of saying that boys will be boys, because I don't think that's an excuse. To me, it is just dudes who have been in one s situation or in setting, however you want to label it, they get out of that setting and they cut loose. Like they've been in this confined area with these certain people. And you Jen: It isn't. Mm. Shaun: I mean that's the point of the show though. Barry: And again, it does go back to me to my point is yes, that is the point of the show is you are trying to explore your connections and figure out. And sometimes, like I s like we said, this is a social experiment that is speeding up the process of emotions and logic and all the things that you can take time and process in the real world, and you're forced to deal with them in such small stents. Yes, like it's Jen: Quick quick yeah, quick timing spaces, yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: So they got upset because the girls got to see the dudes meet the new bombshells in Casa Moore. And ⁓ Shaun said, the first thing what do they do? ⁓ their tongues down everybody's throats. And they got upset. ⁓ okay, and this to my point even more, they got upset watching a challenge which was supposed to be the live your life, do your ⁓ your nasty porn kissing self, whatever you want to call it, do your big tongue ⁓ wide open. Shaun: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Do your big one. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Mm. Barry: And they got upset about that. But then the next morning, a boat full of 12 dudes, it wasn't even just six. They got 12 dudes and they're out there jumping and celebrating and acting like like they weren't just upset about the same thing that they're about to ensue and do. So the irrationalness of it all, Shaun, just it's so hypocritical to me. They got 12 dudes and they're out there jumping and celebrating and acting like like they weren't just upset about the same thing that they're about to ensue and do. Jen: Mm. Shaun: I mean What do you say, Jim? Jen: But it just gonna pull it back to like that's again and maybe this is a deeper conversation for us because I do think it's a big difference between men's brains and women's brains because women are just going to be more loyal. They s take things a little deeper more to heart. They take it at face value and say, yes, that's locked in. That's what it is. So when they're telling when a man is telling them these things, especially in that heightened environment where they are feeling these things so quickly, when they Hear those things like yes, it's you for sure, you and even when Casa Amor comes around, I'm not gonna whatever, like they've latched onto that. The and then no matter how many dudes come in, because they got double the amount of dudes, and still I think only two girls switched to somebody else. Didn't not at all. All of those other girls, even though yeah, I didn't I expected that. Barry: They got double the amount of dudes to choose from. Which the ones that switched didn't surprise me one bit. ⁓ Kenzie and what's his name? Corbin. They had already been on the outs when Casa Moore happened, so that didn't surprise me. And then Jen and the dude who should have been there that wasn't there, her boyfriend or his chick was with the new country white dude, and they weren't committed to each other. So I was like, that's an obvious. Those two or three are gonna definitely diefect. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Not really. No, it was pretty new. Mm-hmm. But you notice that all of the like main people who were locked in since the beginning Barry: Mm-hmm. They pick even as much they talk so much shit about each other, like I how much they're dramatic and like yo, and they were like calling each other out, it was insane and then chose them. I'm like, you literally just bash this person for five minutes and then but I'm gonna choose I was just like what? Jen: But see that's the thing is they were they were bashing what they were doing in Casa Amor, but that's what I mean by differences between men and women, is women are I think more loyal creatures anyways. And so they see those things. ⁓ you better come around. Barry: Okay. Shaun: Hold on. Barry: The women made out s the women made out outside of the challenges too. Not as much as the men. Go ahead, J go ahead, Jen. Shaun: Hold on, let her let her cook for a second. What are you gonna s where are you gonna say, Jen, Mem women are more loyal because we were both about to jump in on that. Barry: Go ahead, I'm sorry, I did. Go ahead, Jen. Say your say your thing. Jen: I know. This is gonna be the next clip. I do think women tend to be more loyal, but whether it be by delusion or by just, I don't know, instinctually or whatever, women tend to, I think, stay longer, put up with more. And so even though they're like, I saw him make out with that person outside, it was so disrespectful, but I'm still gonna give it a try because they'd rather stay and work on a connection than move on to something completely new. And whereas men's brains are different, and they're like, if I'm not fully feeling that, I'm gonna try this out anyways, because why not? You know I mean? Like that's what I mean. Barry: That's the name of that's the whole point of what we're doing here is to try people out. Shaun: Yeah. So I I want to push back on the word loyal. I want to push back on the word loyal. I think that women are more possessive than men are. And the reason hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. The reason I say that is because women are happy as long as you are giving them what and again, this is in a vacuum. We're talking about the show, not women in general, but they're happy as long as they are getting what they want from their man. Jen: Okay. Barry: Tay say it, Shaun. Say it. Say it. Jen: Mm-hmm. Okay. Barry: Ooh I like it, Shaun. Jen: mm, mm Mm. Barry: Or what they expect. Mm. I would agree. Shaun: Or what they expect from their man. As soon as a man starts to present himself as not as engaged anymore, she cuts herself off until he finds another woman that he is interested in. Once he finds another woman, then that possessiveness kicks in and she's like, Well, what are you doing? Like, we were supposed to be together and like we're supposed to be a couple and all this other stuff. Jen: Mm. Barry: She be getting jealous, bruh. Jen: Mm. Hit flips. Mm-hmm. Barry: I like the way you song yeah. I I like the way you're presenting that, Shaun. Jen: Mm. Shaun: But it's it's like you you didn't want me when you saw this other man come in, but now that I'm going to find and make a connection or pull for a chat another chick, you all of a sudden don't like it. Jen: Mm-hmm. Okay. Yes, I don't like the word possessive. So fine. But I do feel like so if we're if we're thinking holistically, on episode eight, and I know exactly why he's talking about this because Melanie absolutely, and I know that's what you're talking about right now. ⁓ No, hundred percent. ⁓ I the same exact thoughts with her around that same time too, because she was being very flippy. Shaun: Okay. I don't like loyal, so we're on the same page as that. Okay. Barry: ⁓ ⁓ a hundred percent we're gay, bro. No, no, I can't either. I'm not a big fan. Shaun: Cannot stand her, by the way. I don't like her at all. Yeah. Jen: But then when somebody else tried or he tried to talk to somebody else, she was like, But no wait, ⁓ my man, I'm losing my man. Yeah. And I'm like, But girl, you said two minutes ago that you didn't want that, that you were moving on, that you went and started making out with other people, like you wanted to go explore other people, but then got upset. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Sol, which is so gorgeous, by the way. Barry: Mm-hmm. And then you saw a dude do the same thing and ⁓ yep. Now ⁓ yeah, with Corbin, bro. Okay, so Shaun: Well, like when they're on the bed, she's going back and forth between him and Corbin or whatever. Like, what the heck? Like you you can tell the difference between us. Jen: Yes. Yeah. Well, and that's why I think the irrationality, yeah, the irrationality of the Casa Amor is just wild. But I do think that that's why. Like that's what's in their heads. Barry: So speaking of Corbin, bro, like and I don't understand like why Kenzie was so upset. Okay, I d Okay, but Jen, can you explain that to me? Why did they get go s why did they go so hard at Corbin when he came back in with ⁓ what's her name? Pram Pramita? ⁓ the the what's I can't even remember her nationality. ⁓ Persian. She's Persian. I was like, what she said she was a Persian cat. So ⁓ Jen: I do not vibe with him. I don't vibe with her either, so just to put that out there. Shaun: She's another one. I can't I don't I can't stand her either. She's a gazelle that wants to be chased by a lion? That makes no sense. Yeah, I don't even know who she is. Hmm. ⁓ Jen: ⁓ Parame ⁓ i yeah, I can't remember her name. It yeah. Yes. I Shaun: Sh. Barry: Why did they go so hard at her just 'cause and again, this goes back to my point when we were like when I was first talking this he said something that wasn't intended to be heard and he didn't know. And not to again, not to s he did say it, but yo, they've all said disrespectful e stuff to each other behind each other's back. So like again it's that hypocrisy and the double standard that I just can't like going at the man for doing what he came to that place to do. Like Jen: But he still said it in that But it Think so. But I think it's beyond that. I because he was talking like as a person, as a character, and you, yes, you guys were kind of shaky beforehand, but you were definitely telling her, like, yeah, we're interested. Yeah, I like you, yeah, whatever. But when you're doing it just to stay in a couple, so you don't get voted off or you don't get kicked out by some of the girls because you don't have a strong connection, I feel like that's what he was doing. And he kind of played her to make her think like he was actually interested when he never was. And that conversation made it very clear he never was. Barry: D he d that's what he said? He was never interested. Jen: I don't think he specifically said that I think what he said because he was talking about her. But I don't Barry: But okay, so then that's a story that she's telling herself. But that's a story. And he's just playing the game. Jen: No. Shaun: But I c I can see both sides of that though, because yes, people do say things in the game just because it's part of it's it's a show, so like you have to make it like dr dramatized so that people actually want to tune in and watch it. So I mean I can I can I can understand like the whole thing about like, yeah, people say things behind your back. That also doesn't excuse it if you are if you truly do like this person, if you are truly trying to build Jen: Mm. Just to be there. Barry: ⁓ a hundred percent. They definitely dramatici or dramatize, whatever however you say that word. Jen: Mm, mhm. Barry: No. Shaun: a connection and a relationship in the future and a bond with this person, then yeah, you're not gonna say disrespectful things around their house behind their back. Like you would be able to respect them as a person and as this individual that you're coupled up with, that even though you may want to say things because you want to make it more public, I guess, about the types of things that you do or the types of things that you want or don't like, rather than Jen: Then you want to be talking about like that. Mm-hmm. Shaun: actually committing to that person and standing by their side. I I don't I don't know. I can see both sides of that. Barry: I don't know. To me it's just hypocrisy. Jen: think that's why they went so hard on him. I mean that's my thought is that's why they went so hard on him and everybody was like, ew because it was very much like a you don't say it to my face, you say behind my back and I don't vibe with that. Shaun: And you also have to remember, like, these are twenty something year old kids. Like, n they say that they're emotionally intelligent, but they're not. They don't understand anything yet. Yeah. Barry: But again, I Yeah, they are. Yeah. They are early to mid twenty. ⁓ no, they are not. They aren't. I wouldn't agree with I would agree with that for sure. They don't they don't have that ⁓ maturity yet for sure. Or I don't I think most of them, I don't want like I can't speak for all twenty-something year olds, but a lot of them lack that maturity. But again, I think this just to me it's just like your interpretation of the situation, again, what he did and what he said, I'm not justifying that. Jen: Hundred percent. Yeah. I think he's the youngest, too. He's like twenty-one, I think. Yeah, no. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Barry: Right. Like to Shaun's point, if I truly care for somebody, I'm not gonna say those kind of things, even if I'm with my boys, right? I but so to to the point, maybe that's the truth of what he felt and that's kinda how it came out. And so then for her to sit there and like go at him and all the girls went at him and KC, which we can talk about that too, him going with TiTi. I know people aren't gonna like him for that, but I don't know, man. It's just like Jen: Mm. And you know your every word is being recorded. Whew. We're going to. Barry: Again, this is kind of to the whole point when I think as as rationally and logically as I can, the way they did what they did was not the best way to go about it. But if we're truly living the intention of this social experiment that is a T V show, you shouldn't judge people. You should be curious and instead of thinking, Well, you screwed me over, you lied to me, have self and inflection. Why did this happen? Jen: Mm. Barry: Like I know and to Shaun's point, w like he just said, these are twenty something year old, so they probably don't have that level of maturity or self-reflection yet. But I don't know. Like to get that pissed just because somebody's trying to find their happiness is crazy. Cause that's the point of the whole thing is for everyone to find their happiness. So if dude doesn't want to be with you, and again, it could have been delivered better, but take it as that. He didn't want to be with you. Get upset, go through your emotions, but to sit there and make dude seem like the most horrible person. Cause what if the shoe was on the other foot and you Jen: Mm. Mm. Shaun: Mm. Barry: found somebody in Casa Amor. that was a better fit for you and you left dude high and dry. Females would be really offended if a dude came at their neck for the same thing. Shaun: But I think that kind of goes back to something that I was saying last week is like what is your actual reason for being here? Like why are you on the show? Like are you here to make it to the end to get the money? Are you here to get exposure because maybe you want to go into like acting or modeling? Some of them are already models, but maybe you want to further your career and do something. Maybe you're trying to get land this big brand deal or something like that. Or are you truly here to find love? Barry: ⁓ a hundred percent. Yeah, we don't know the intention of the individual. Jen: Mm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Shaun: while you're on the island. Like, what are you actually here for? Because yeah, if you're here to do all of those other things, you're gonna look at it through like, okay, how can I make this as dramatic as I possibly can? How can I react to this situation or this scenario to where it causes the most attention or it gets the most clicks or the most likes or something of that nature. If you're really there to find love and someone that you can spend the rest of your life with, I I Barry: Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: Keep putting things in quotes, but as someone that you can spend the rest of your life with, then yeah, you would be able to take a step back, assess the situation, and approach it from a standpoint of being more understanding or being more in tune with that person that you do have this connection with, so that you can continue that connection moving forward. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: And they chose him in the end. I mean, but like Jen said. And that I guess that to me that just is bothersome too. It's like, why are you gonna sit here and just completely gut me in front of everyone and then be like, but I chose you still? Like what does that accomplish? And if you're really trying to move forward, not to say you shouldn't say your piece and express how it did hurt you, but to do it in but they're do again again, delivery. How am I gonna feel? Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Because I I think that's exactly what they're doing. Barry: Am I gonna feel safe in a relationship if you just go out in front of everybody and put me on a skewer? Jen: Okay, but would you rather them do that in front of everybody to everybody's face and not hide anything or go talk to your boys and just say shitty things on the side? Exactly. So that's what they're doing. Barry: No, I would rather you come to me. If you're choosing me, I would rather you come to me one on one. I don't need you to put me on blast in front of everybody. I'm not gonna I personally would take that as a slap in the face and that ⁓ I Shaun: But it's a it's an experiment though. Jen: I think it's and and they're asking them those questions. Like they're asking them how do you feel right now? How do you feel about him doing this? How do you feel about her doing this? Blah blah blah. So like if you're gonna ask me, I'm gonna say it. And whether you get upset about what I say, that's on you. That's not on me. They're asking me about my feelings. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: For sure. But Okay, and f fair enough. Fair enough. True, but so then and okay, that's funny you say that 'cause yes, say your peace, but then when they're asked how they feel and why they did what they did and they try and get their peace out, guess what them girls did? Shut the f shut your mouth. You don't have no right to do what you did. Like they Shaun: They probably got upset about it. Jen: Okay, first of all. First of all Barry: Cut them off and made a unsafe place for me to tell you how I feel. When you're asking me how I feel, you're telling me my feelings aren't valid 'cause it didn't go with your expectations. Jen: Thing I disagree slightly. I I do think everybody needs to have their time to say their piece, whatever. think with KC and what he was saying, it was Trinity, ⁓ pop off my girl Trinity, because ⁓ you better back up because he was flipping, because he was flipping, and she was gonna call him out on it because he was saying, why not? Barry: Why is she interjecting herself into a conversation that has nothing to do with her? But that's not her place. That's not her man. It's not her place. Shaun: Was it her girl though? Like was she looking out for a girl that she's from So I mean I I can understand that. Girls have a girl code just like we have a bro coat, dude. I mean, I I can see that. Jen: Yes, that's her girl. Exactly. Barry: ⁓ yeah. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. For sure. If you're gonna sit there and she's bawling her eyes out, upset, and then you're gonna sit here and say it was because of blah blah blah blah blah, which is a complete flip from what you said before you left, then I'm gonna call out and be like, Mm, that's interesting because that's not what you did just two minutes ago. So Barry: But I don't know. None of the dudes was Here's here's the problem with these relationships, yo. If you didn't have anything of building this house up, you have no comment on how this house is going. Jen: Mm. Shaun: That that's for a real relationship though. These aren't real relationships. Jen: Yeah. No. Barry: But they're trying to act like these are real relationships. These are real feelings, aren't they? No, they are real feelings. Shaun: No. I don't think so. I don't think they're real. Jen: hundred percent. I think I do think they are real feelings. I think they're irrational. They're not l based in logic. They are not based in the real world. But Love Island is its own little world. Barry: That's my thing. That's my whole point to all this. Is like, we me, the three of us have learned like, give yourself time to truly think through something before you respond to it. Pause. There's zero pause. But you have that time here. You literally have nothing to do but think about all these things. Literally. They're not living a real life. They're not working. But that's what I'm saying. Like, think through. Jen: ⁓ yeah, in the real life, for sure. But yeah, no. But not when the host is standing in front of you saying, How do you feel about that? Shaun: Well, I mean, no. Yeah. Barry: through your emotions and not just react to your emotions. Think through them. And then I again having the feelings of hurtness based off what happened makes complete sense in any of these situations. But the irrational the irrationality and hypocrisy, and it is on both sides. I agree with you, KC, he was very wishy-washy back and forth on the reason what he did. Jen: Mm. Mm, mhm. Barry: Bro, just say I like this girl better. Like I don't really think there has to be any more said than that. Like you're trying to make a story that's not real real. So just be like, yo, I was feeling her better. I don't know what else to say. Like it really is that simple. Jen: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. But I I do think and that's why I think like with KC, obviously I didn't think he was really down for Aniya in the beginning, anyways. I felt like he was just riding that out as much as but a hundred percent. A hundred percent. Yeah. Like come on now, that's goofy. Yeah. Shaun: Man. Barry: ⁓ I don't think so from the beginning. A hundred percent. I think he was riding it out. And I think his feelings were hurt that nobody picked him. But to bring it up now, after she chose you five times, like that's not a logical argument either. She did choose you. Y'all chose each other multiple times. So you can't say you didn't feel like she didn't choose you 'cause she did. So Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Is is that fair though? Because what if that's that's gonna be lingering in the back of his mind moving forward? Yeah. Barry: ⁓ no, it that's why I say it should linger 'cause that would hurt me as it especially going into this, right? Yeah. Yeah, he was the leftover and he got paired with her based off of being the leftover. For sure. Jen: ⁓ yeah. And it very much hurt him. It was very much an ego thing for him. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Yeah. So I mean that I I think that that could add to Yeah, I think that that could add to his feelings of why he might feel that way. ⁓ again, y'all are ahead of me, so I haven't seen what he's done yet. But I I can I can see. Barry: It has a s a reason or it has a it has value in this situation. Jen: Hundred percent. Barry: Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ I mean they were just they were s they were st they were steady together, I would say that. They they weren't like great, but they weren't bad. They were just steady And he found a girl that made him feel better and he chose her. And people were gonna hate him. I don't think he'll be back. I don't think he'll be l on there much longer 'cause all the stuff I see people are roasting, bro. Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Mm. On there long. No. not after his girl TiTi wanted to like actually fight somebody. Like ⁓ girlfriend it. Mm-mm. She called her a little girl. She said, you a little girl. And then she said, Are you gonna shut me up? Like, say less. You cannot look at somebody and say, What are you gonna do about it? You gonna shut me up? And think that ⁓ they're not to fight you. ⁓ Absolutely not. Barry: She was, bro. She she literally tried to pick a fight with Trinity. It was pretty enter entertaining. She said yep. Yep, she did. Shaun: ⁓ my gosh. Well, I'll be interested to see what happens. Yeah. Goodness. Well, a lot of things that they do on Love Island is trying to explore those connections and trying to pick up the the other people and how like how do you navigate between this person that I am Barry: It was funny. That's what I was talking about, bro. These girls are these girls are in their emotions. It was hilarious. But yeah, super dramatic, super dramatic, but no. Jen: Yeah, very. Shaun: in a connection with and this new bombshell that's come in, like how do you explore those different types of connections that you might have? Yeah. Barry: Well and that's the thing that doesn't make sense to me in this whole thing is cause everybody agrees that okay, if you wanna explore your connections, I'm cool with it, but that's not the truth. Cause as soon as they do it, they get upset. So again, don't say something if you don't mean it. If you're gonna get your feelings hurt by me doing this, then be honest. So I know that you're gonna be upset. So then I do have a real choice to make. Am I gonna make this person upset and go explore this? Shaun: But don't do it. Yeah. Yeah. Jen: Mm. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Or is this person worth me focusing my energy and time on? Because I feel like a lot of the drama and these these issues that do arise, which I'm sure makes that the the producers and stuff aren't gonna try and help these people like they want the crazy and the dramatics and but if these people would be clear in their communication, which I am coming for me is pretty funny 'cause I'm probably one of the worst communicators in the world when it comes to relationships, you've asked Becca. I could definitely benefit from the words that I'm saying right now, but Jen: Mm. Shaun: No no, you know. It's even better for them. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: Mm. Jen: Clear is kind. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Clear as kind, bro. If you could say exactly how you're feeling in the moment and people would can reciprocate the same thing and say, you know what, I would be hurt if you did that. Then at least I know that okay, but if you tell me you're that you're good with it, I'm gonna go with the value of what you just told me. So when you get upset, I am gonna be defensive and not understanding 'cause you said, now do you. Okay, I did me and now I'm getting ⁓ But ⁓ that's I would disagree with that. Jen: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: But y you do have to read the cues though too. Jen: I but I feel like there was not a lot of that. I don't feel like there was a lot of I'm gonna go do this. It's ⁓ well I'm I'm I'm interested in it, but you're I'm my number one and I really feel like nothing can come in between us and we're gonna be the greatest literally he's what's his face? Sincere said, We're gonna be the greatest love story ever, blah blah blah blah blah. And like literally but that's what I feel like there's been more of this season is yeah, I'm locked down, I'm locked in, I'm blah blah blah. Barry: ⁓ no. Sincere bro, he bro be bouncing back and forth like a basketball bro. He done there's no consistency, bro. Nah. No. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: But again, they chose each other after they had a chance to move on, him and Melanie, which is shocking to me. I thought Sincere would definitely choose the the Casa Amor girl. Her thing was and her name was Amora. I really thought he was gonna come in there with her and Mel Melanie was gonna be upset. ⁓ she have a chance. They chose each other in this li in the Casa Amor, bro. Yep. Which is shocking. Like I really thought it was over at point. ⁓ Mm-hmm. Jen: A hundred percent. A hundred percent, which all three of ⁓ the Lulu. All three of ⁓ I was shocked. And I think the people are gonna vote her back in. Shaun: Wait, so Sincere and Melanie are still together? Ugh. That's terrible. What? Yeah. Jen: Yes, they chose each other. Yeah. Yeah. And she had another guy there that was really like going for for Casa Amor, like made a picnic for her, like was really trying to be like, Hey, you'd be better off with me, like trust me, blah blah blah. And she still was sincere. All three of them though. All three of the ones that ended up staying, which I think were goofy. Yeah. But also like they had a really good option to that they could have picked. Barry: Mm-hmm. Yep. Yeah. Yep. She did. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Same thing, skewered ⁓ in front of everybody. Both of them had good options. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Carl, I really hope America votes him back in. I felt so bad for Carl. I know, he doesn't look like a Carl either, but he seems like such a good dude. He doesn't. Barry: man, I felt bad for that man. He seemed like a genuinely decent guy. Carl. Carl He does not look like a Carl. No, he does. Aniya made the wrong choice, bro. Shaun: Celly. Taylor, Cleo. Mm. Jen: She did. But hopefully America votes him back in because apparently we get to vote in ⁓ one of the girls and one of the guys. Barry: ⁓ see that's why I didn't even pay attention to none of that. okay. Shaun: Are you a voter, Jim? Do you vote? Do you vote? ⁓ man. Jen: Huh? For sure if I catch it in enough time. If I but most of Rude. What does that mean? There was a lot of insinuation in that face, sir. Couldn't tell you the last time I watched American Idol. Barry: ⁓ I was like, I believe Jen votes on a lot of T V shows for sure. A lot of T V shows. Like a singing show. I bet no, like I bet you vote on American Idol or Shaun: She has bitter feelings toward American Idol. Barry: I feel like you're just I feel like you like to participate at T V shows like that. I don't know. It's not a slight huh? I have never voted on any show in my life. I'll just say that. Jen: I think this is the only show that I've ever voted for something on. But again, it's only 'cause you have to they only have a certain like hours window after because it's every day. So most of the time I miss them. So I didn't get to vote on this one. But yeah, I'm caught up. Shaun: That's true. Same. I haven't either. Barry: It's a window, yeah, of time. Yeah. Too much. Shaun: Yeah. So are y'all? Are y'all caught up? Are y'all to the new one? Okay, dang, I got no longer to go. Okay. I'll get on it. Barry: I am. Yeah. Tonight'll be the new one. No you good. No I mean f fast forward to it bro, it's all the same old shit every time. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Yeah, I actually took some of Becca's advice. Like I've just been kind of like playing and you mentioned it too. Just kind of play it in the background. Just not pay attention to it, but like listen and things. You can pick up on yeah, you can pick up on different things that are going on. Yeah. We'll catch up on it. We'll keep you all caught up as well. ⁓ this is gonna be something weekly that we're gonna do. Yeah. Jen is very emotional right now, apparently. According to according to Barry. According to Barry. Yes. Barry: Mm. Background noise. Just Yeah. When people start yelling, you just start looking. Jen: Yeah. And then when things get loud, like you pay attention. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: We obviously got emotions and feelings on it, huh, Jen? Jen: Too emotional over here. Let me take a deep breath and count to four. Barry: Take a deep breath. Pause, bro. Shaun: ⁓ man.
