- 0:01Acts chapter 15. Let us pray, oh Lord Jesus
- 0:09Christ, who raised on high, we love you, Father, We love
- 0:12everything about you. We say yes and Amen to all the
- 0:16promises that you've given us in this book.
- 0:18God, we raise up our shield. Lord, we do war with the word of
- 0:23God. We thank you for your spoken
- 0:26word. We thank you that you were life.
- 0:28We thank you that you are true. We thank you that you're the
- 0:31way, God. We get out of the way, Lord, and
- 0:34we come into the way with you. Lord, lead us in paths of
- 0:39eternal places. God, lead us in righteousness
- 0:42and holiness. God, help us to stand on the
- 0:45truth. Help us to stand on the Bible.
- 0:48Help us to pray for the Jews. God, help us, Lord, to love the
- 0:52Jews. God, I pray in the name of Jesus
- 0:55for a supernatural protection around that land and around
- 0:58those people. Lord, I pray God, that you will
- 1:02bring all of your prophecies into fruition, Lord, and bring
- 1:06them into the fold. Lord, bring them back.
- 1:09God, I pray in the name of Jesus that this world Father will be
- 1:13set ablaze with the Holy Ghost. Lord, I pray for revival to
- 1:18break out in the name of Jesus, from the King to the cattle.
- 1:21God, I pray for every nation to be on fire for the gospel of
- 1:26Jesus Christ. I pray that it goes out to the
- 1:28ends of the earth. Lord bless this ministry.
- 1:31Lord, bless this time. Father, Holy Ghost, fill us
- 1:34today. Holy Ghost, you direct our
- 1:37steps. Holy Ghost, we love you, we love
- 1:40you, love you so much. Discipline us and correct us and
- 1:44give us sound minds and give us sound doctrine in theology.
- 1:48God, we just want to say whatever it is that you want to
- 1:51say to this generation, I get out of the way and I decrease as
- 1:55you increase. Holy Spirit, we love you, King
- 1:58Jesus, and this in your holy name that we pray.
- 2:01Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 2:07And it came to pass in Iconium that they went both together
- 2:11into the synagogue of the Jews and so spoke that a great
- 2:15multitude, both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.
- 2:20So you can see that they would go into a a new city and they
- 2:26would first start in the synagogues.
- 2:29And you remember when Jesus was here in his earthly ministry,
- 2:35what he told the Syrophoenician lady, He said that it was not
- 2:40proper to give the meat to dogs. And she said, yes, but even the
- 2:45dogs get to eat the crumbs. So here you can see that it is
- 2:51God's model that they would first start in Israel, first
- 2:55start with the Jews, and then as the Jews rejected and as they
- 3:01heard, then it would spread unto the Gentiles. 2 But the
- 3:08unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and made their minds
- 3:12evil affected against the brothers.
- 3:15So imagine that. Imagine how they were
- 3:19infiltrated and it was said that these men were spreading evil
- 3:27and it was actually the Jews that were the evil ones.
- 3:32And isn't that some deep psychology when you have
- 3:36somebody doing wrong, but they're trying to get you to do
- 3:39wrong so that you're the one that actually gets the blame?
- 3:43And that's what you're seeing here.
- 3:44This is child's play. But God is not going to be
- 3:48outmaneuvered His way and His will shall be done 3 long time.
- 3:56Therefore they abode, speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave
- 4:00testimony unto the word of His grace, and granted signs and
- 4:04wonders to be done by their hands.
- 4:06So imagine that they couldn't be pushed out, snuffed out.
- 4:10They could not be shut up or shut out.
- 4:13They stayed there a long time, even though these Jews were
- 4:17stirring up evil against them. And we need to have that same
- 4:22tenacity. We need to have that same
- 4:25perseverance. We cannot let people shut us up
- 4:29and shut us down about our God. He is worthy to be praised,
- 4:34friends, give him his due honor and glory.
- 4:41For but the multitude of the city was divided, part held with
- 4:45the Jews and part with the apostles.
- 4:49So Jesus said, Do you think that I have come to bring peace?
- 4:54No, but a sword. And he was talking about the
- 4:57division and the line in the sand that we must crossover.
- 5:01There is no neutrality with Jesus Christ.
- 5:05You are for him or you are against him.
- 5:08And you can see they were divided and they had to make a
- 5:11decision. And he's still doing the same
- 5:13thing today. 5 And when there was an assault made both of the
- 5:19Gentiles and also of the Jews, with their rulers, to use them
- 5:24despitefully and to stone them. So here the Christians who were
- 5:32teaching the good news of Jesus Christ, they were stoned and
- 5:38beat. 6 They were aware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derb,
- 5:47cities of like Anaya, and unto the region that lies round and
- 5:53about. 7 And there they preach the gospel.
- 5:58So this is the Lord's hand at work.
- 6:03They would stay long enough in one place, but never to get
- 6:08comfortable, just long enough to scatter the seed and let it take
- 6:12root, and then God would move them along. 8 And there sat a
- 6:17certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple
- 6:21from his mother's womb, who never walked.
- 6:24Now in the same heard Paul speak, who steadfastly beholding
- 6:28him and perceiving that he had faith to be healed in said with
- 6:33a loud voice, stand upright on your feet, and he leapt and
- 6:37walked eleven And when the people saw what Paul had done,
- 6:42they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of like
- 6:46Kanaya, the gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.
- 6:53So here you can see that they were steeped in idolatry.
- 6:58And even though Paul here is preaching Yahweh, he's preaching
- 7:05the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, he's preaching the name
- 7:09of Jesus Christ. They're so steeped in their
- 7:12idolatry that because of this miracle, they think that the
- 7:16gods have come down. 12 And they called Barnabas Jupiter and Paul
- 7:25Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. 13 Then the
- 7:30priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought ox
- 7:34and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with
- 7:38the people. So they think that the gods had
- 7:41come down in the form of these men.
- 7:43Let's see how Paul corrects them. 14 Which when the apostles
- 7:51Barnabas and Paul heard of, they ripped their clothes.
- 7:56And they? Ran in among the people crying
- 7:59out and saying. Sirs, Why?
- 8:04Do you these? Things we also are men of like
- 8:09passions. With you.
- 8:11And preach. Unto you that you should.
- 8:14Turn from these vanities unto the living.
- 8:17God which made heaven and earth. And the sea, and all things that
- 8:23are. In IT 16.
- 8:25Who in times past suffered all nations to walk?
- 8:31In their own ways. 17 Nevertheless, he left not.
- 8:36Himself without witness. In that He did good and gave us
- 8:40rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts and
- 8:46with food and gladness. 18 And when these sayings scarce
- 8:52restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto
- 8:59them. So you can see here that Paul
- 9:03rebukes them and tells them do not try and sacrifice unto us,
- 9:09we are mere men. And you remember what happened
- 9:12to Herod whenever he tried to receive worship of men, he was
- 9:17eat up with maggots. And you can see here that Paul
- 9:21and Barnabas are smart enough to refuse this kind of worship.
- 9:27And it is a grave warning to all mankind for all time sake to
- 9:37never ever receive worship. You will be snuffed out and done
- 9:47away with every time. You will not be able to go on
- 9:51like that. You might have a sinful fun
- 9:57season where you think it's all fun and games until it's not. 19
- 10:05And there came there certain Jews from Antioch, Iconium, who
- 10:10persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, they drew him out
- 10:16of the city, supposing he had been dead.
- 10:19So these men came for many miles to persecute them.
- 10:23They learned their whereabouts and they came and they tried to
- 10:27kill him. And this is a satanic attack.
- 10:31This is a demonic, dark attack on Jesus Christ and the gospel
- 10:37of Jesus Christ. And he's trying to shut down the
- 10:40early church, but you cannot. It will continue on through all
- 10:45the ages. The Word of God will prevail
- 10:49through every type of government.
- 10:51The Word of God will prevail through every single generation
- 10:57from now to the end of time. Heaven and earth shall pass
- 11:00away, but not one of these words.
- 11:02And His Word never returns. Void, friends, and God shall not
- 11:07be mocked. And you can see it here that
- 11:10these men are trying to snuff them out.
- 11:13But God's about to do a miracle. They thought that Paul was dead,
- 11:21because whenever they would stone somebody, they made sure
- 11:24that they were dead. Dead.
- 11:26But what did God do? 20 Howbeit, as the disciples
- 11:31stood stood round and about him, he rose up and came into the
- 11:37city. And the next day he departed
- 11:39with Barnabas to Durb. So perhaps Paul was dead and he
- 11:45was resuscitated back from life. And you can see here, he didn't
- 11:49just run for his life and flee, he went back into the city
- 11:54before he departed. What boldness, what a mighty
- 12:00miracle work of God it is that Paul was not killed.
- 12:06They stood round and about him, thinking that he was a dead man
- 12:10but God. 21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city
- 12:20and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra and to
- 12:24Iconium and Antioch. You could not stop this man.
- 12:28He was unstoppable because he was fueled by the Holy Ghost.
- 12:32And that is available to us as well.
- 12:35Whether we die going out and preaching the gospel of Jesus
- 12:40Christ, or whether God lets us live to a ripe old age and we go
- 12:44by the way of our fathers, or whether we are taken up and out
- 12:49in the midst of it all. We need to be found doing the
- 12:52Lord's work, no matter the cost. Count it before you come,
- 12:57because it cost Him everything. 22 Confirming the souls of the
- 13:03disciples and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that
- 13:07we must, through much tribulation, enter into the
- 13:11Kingdom of God. So you can see here he's
- 13:13revisiting these little outposts of these early churches that
- 13:17were started, and he's making sure to fan the flame of these
- 13:23little lambs. And that's what we need to be
- 13:27found doing, feeding the lambs and feeding the sheep.
- 13:31Friends, you who have been walking with the Lord for a long
- 13:35time, you should by now be off the milk and be able to teach
- 13:40others. And by much tribulation we enter
- 13:46into the Kingdom of God. And it is by violence that we
- 13:49take the Kingdom of God. Friends, praise God, Hallelujah
- 13:5523 and when they had ordained them elders in every church and
- 14:00had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord on
- 14:04whom they believed. So here they're just instituting
- 14:08the parameters for a healthy church.
- 14:13And we need to know that there have been many church
- 14:18government, church leadership, business meetings that were very
- 14:23worldly. And we need to push the world
- 14:25out and we need to make sure that we're connected with the
- 14:29Lord Jesus Christ and don't bring all of the garbage that
- 14:35should not be in the church into that.
- 14:39There are many people who have gone in thinking that they have
- 14:45done the Lord great service. In all of actuality, all they're
- 14:49doing is driving wedges and operating in their own
- 14:54understanding. We need to fast, we need to
- 14:57pray, we need to seek the Lord on how He would appropriate said
- 15:04funds. We need to fast, we need to
- 15:07pray, we need to seek the Lord on who should and should not be
- 15:11in leadership, and we need to know where they stand with God
- 15:17Almighty. And if there's anything, any
- 15:19stumbling blocks in their lives for that season, they need to be
- 15:25removed from those offices. And others who are full of the
- 15:29Holy Ghost should be put in their stead until they are
- 15:33restored back into their positions.
- 15:38And there have been many churches who are going by the
- 15:42wayside because they kept holding on to the ways of the
- 15:45world. And God is desirous to do a new
- 15:49thing, friends. And he's using unlearned men.
- 15:56And this whole professionalizing the pulpit has led many
- 16:03unconverted but very learned men to stand and preach heresy and
- 16:13to preach the world system over their congregation.
- 16:19And there have been many revivals that the Lord got a
- 16:22hold of a pastor and he would go down and give his life to the
- 16:27Lord, even though he had been pastoring that church for many
- 16:30years. Let's just think about it,
- 16:32friends. Just because you've got a plaque
- 16:36on a wall doesn't mean that you're full of the Holy Ghost.
- 16:42He is beyond our little ways that we try to professionalize
- 16:54the pulpit, the suit and ties, Friends.
- 16:58He wants a man who's completely sold out to him and whose faith
- 17:04is much greater than all of their sensibilities and much
- 17:11greater than the IQ level that they possess. 24 And after they
- 17:20had passed through the city of they came to Panthea. 25 And
- 17:24when they had preached the word Perga, they went down to Italia.
- 17:2926 And from there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had
- 17:34been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they
- 17:40fulfilled. 27 And when they were come and had gathered the church
- 17:44together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and
- 17:49how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
- 17:52We'll end on. 28 And there they abode long time with the
- 17:58disciples. How amazing is this 1st century
- 18:04church being fueled and funneled by the Holy Ghost?
- 18:07And by the way, it's available to us.
- 18:10It's available for now, and we cannot just think that it's
- 18:15business as usual whenever the churches all around us are
- 18:19shuttered and whenever there's no hunger for the Word of God.
- 18:24Whenever God is being marginalized.
- 18:27We need men to rise up and to increase their faith and to
- 18:33believe every single syllable inside of the 66 books that we
- 18:40find in the Canon of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.
- 18:45It's not the Bible plus anything else.
- 18:49It's not the Bible plus your favorite pastor.
- 18:53It's not the Bible plus a certain denomination.
- 18:57It's not the Bible plus another piece of literature.
- 19:02It's not the Bible plus concordances and commentaries.
- 19:07It's not the Bible plus anything.
- 19:11It's the Bible that we stand and we build our life upon.
- 19:16And you'll never be put to dismay.
- 19:19Friends, God will be well pleased to use you in the arenas
- 19:24that you find yourself in. And if you'll get out of your
- 19:27own way, and if you'll acknowledge the Lord, he'll
- 19:30direct your steps. And you will find yourself in
- 19:34the greatest adventure you've ever found yourself on, whether
- 19:40it's from here to all the way around the world, or whether it
- 19:44is in your hometown or whether it's in your own house, your
- 19:48workplace. Preach the word in season and
- 19:53out of season. And always be ready to give an
- 19:57account for the hope that you possess.
- 20:00Friends, I hope that you've been blessed by this chapter.
- 20:03I know I sure have. I'm praying for you.
- 20:12I love you. So does God, so does our Lord
- 20:17Jesus Christ. Back here tomorrow, God bless
- 20:22you.
