- 1:31Speaker 2: any of the updates. All Right, so, Hollis, this is
- 1:37Speaker 2: the homecoming and what I'm gonna call alumni weekend is
- 1:44Speaker 2: usually what they call it in the pros where they
- 1:46Speaker 2: bring all the all the guys back. And we'll talk
- 1:48Speaker 2: a little bit about that after we get through the
- 1:51Speaker 2: piece of homecoming.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Yeah, so we got Marshall's homecoming in this Saturday, wes
- 1:56Speaker 5: Virginia State Universities next week, and I think UC's was
- 1:59Speaker 5: last week. So just when we talk about homecoming, you know,
- 2:04Speaker 5: from a collegiate perspective, you know, it's a time in which,
- 2:08Speaker 5: you know, alumni comes back. It's celebration as parties, you know.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Obviously you know the game is the centerpiece of that.
- 2:14Speaker 5: So from you being like a player, a coach, and
- 2:18Speaker 5: maybe we'll go back we visit the coaching part of that,
- 2:21Speaker 5: what was your thoughts around just like coaching around that
- 2:25Speaker 5: sort of energy, because again, particularly when you're talking about
- 2:28Speaker 5: like HBCU football, that's like the biggest game of the.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Season, regardless if there's a if there's a bigger game.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Homecoming is the game that you want to win no
- 2:40Speaker 2: matter what, no matter what. And in my coaching and
- 2:44Speaker 2: my coaching tenure at at the State, and the interesting
- 2:50Speaker 2: thing about State and as you know and most people know,
- 2:54Speaker 2: State's homecoming has had a history of being just like
- 2:58Speaker 2: one of the things that you didn't want to miss.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I can remember being at Marshall and driving back home
- 3:07Speaker 2: to come to the State's homecoming just because of just
- 3:11Speaker 2: because of the situation and how and the atmosphere that
- 3:16Speaker 2: you were looking for.
- 3:17Speaker 3: You know, you didn't have that in Huntington.
- 3:19Speaker 2: You know this was going to be this was going
- 3:21Speaker 2: to be a ton of folks coming back, and you
- 3:24Speaker 2: know you were going to have all kinds of parties
- 3:26Speaker 2: and and after parties and all that kind of stuff.
- 3:30Speaker 3: And if you were interested in that, you were coming back.
- 3:34Speaker 2: So to me, I feel like homecoming is and especially
- 3:41Speaker 2: at HBCU, you know, it is a historical moment every
- 3:46Speaker 2: single year definitely, because it represents something, you know, it
- 3:54Speaker 2: represents and and and I think everybody gets a little
- 3:57Speaker 2: bit something out of it. Players get that you munity
- 4:00Speaker 2: with other players, They get to kind of hang out
- 4:03Speaker 2: with the guys. I think the campus folks who didn't
- 4:06Speaker 2: necessarily participate in sports, they get to hang out with
- 4:09Speaker 2: their friends and it's just one great kind of thing.
- 4:12Speaker 3: And I don't know if.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I don't know if regular homecomings are as big or
- 4:19Speaker 2: as maybe bigger just because of the number of students,
- 4:23Speaker 2: but I don't know if they're the same as they
- 4:26Speaker 2: are at an HBC.
- 4:27Speaker 5: I think culturally it's sort of tied. It has a
- 4:30Speaker 5: cultural significance. I remember, like I went to law school
- 4:34Speaker 5: at Southern University, so it's Southern University is the only
- 4:37Speaker 5: HBCU system in the United States where we have multiple
- 4:41Speaker 5: colleges in multiple cities. We have our primary campuses in
- 4:44Speaker 5: bat and Ruge. We have a campus in New Orleans,
- 4:47Speaker 5: and we have a campus in the shreet Sport, and
- 4:48Speaker 5: I think there's maybe one somewhere else. But I mean,
- 4:52Speaker 5: to just see fifty thousand and seventy five thousand people
- 4:57Speaker 5: on campus, I mean, you know, it's been there for days.
- 5:00Speaker 5: Is cooking the crawfish, that's partying, you know, uh, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 5: going to the game, and those are situations in which
- 5:07Speaker 5: you just not United States, Like that's the situation where
- 5:10Speaker 5: you go to the bathroom, get your food will during
- 5:13Speaker 5: the second quarter, because the halftime you stay for the band.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Right, you know what I mean.
- 5:17Speaker 5: So it's just it's just one of those things that
- 5:22Speaker 5: I think that are unique to college football, unique to
- 5:27Speaker 5: you know, even high school football, to some iteration. And
- 5:29Speaker 5: I know, like, you know, Marshall's homecoming this week, which
- 5:32Speaker 5: I'm playing to attend, you know, And I think that's
- 5:35Speaker 5: sort of I think the culture of HBCU homecoming is
- 5:38Speaker 5: sort of you know, sort of migrated through just you know,
- 5:42Speaker 5: other colleges, and I think it's more.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Of an emphasis.
- 5:45Speaker 5: And in addition, you know, for the school itself, it's
- 5:48Speaker 5: a fundraising opportunity, right because they not only they have
- 5:52Speaker 5: to dish a lot of money out to put on
- 5:53Speaker 5: the various programs, but you know, you have a lot
- 5:55Speaker 5: of alumni come back. You can honor those alumni to
- 5:57Speaker 5: give donations and so forth and so on.
- 6:00Speaker 2: And I think, again, as as the head coach, while
- 6:05Speaker 2: it is a great time on campus and it's it's
- 6:09Speaker 2: a meaningful time on campus. I can remember at State
- 6:15Speaker 2: telling everybody no, weel we yes, we used to go
- 6:20Speaker 2: and the reason why was because some of the guys
- 6:23Speaker 2: snuck out and come on, you know I was gonna
- 6:26Speaker 2: be at homecoming.
- 6:26Speaker 3: You know, I was gonna go and check.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I had to go check on the guys, right, So
- 6:29Speaker 2: I see a bunch of guys that that are at homecoming.
- 6:33Speaker 2: So that made me, Okay, we can't stay on campus
- 6:36Speaker 2: during homecoming. But and and and and and I however
- 6:41Speaker 2: bad that sounds. And I used to say this all
- 6:44Speaker 2: the time. We are homecoming. We don't celebrate it. We
- 6:48Speaker 2: are homecoming. We have to play the game, you know,
- 6:50Speaker 2: we have to go out and try to win the game.
- 6:52Speaker 2: We we don't have anything into the celebration. We are homecoming.
- 6:57Speaker 2: And to me, that's the reality of it. And even
- 7:02Speaker 2: even looking back at it now, like I still see
- 7:05Speaker 2: it that way, Like I like, the players don't get
- 7:07Speaker 2: the opportunity until after the game, whatever happens after the game,
- 7:11Speaker 2: but they're gonna miss most everything all week because they're
- 7:14Speaker 2: going to be practiced and they're gonna be in bed
- 7:16Speaker 2: on time because it's betchet.
- 7:19Speaker 3: So that's how I see it as a as.
- 7:22Speaker 2: A as a coach, as a head coach, now as
- 7:25Speaker 2: a player playing at Marshall, Yeah, yeah, there was there
- 7:29Speaker 2: was there was some thinking like could I how could
- 7:33Speaker 2: I get in and could I get out get back
- 7:35Speaker 2: in without getting caught? And then as bad as I was,
- 7:39Speaker 2: I had to deal with Sunny Sonny randall, you know,
- 7:42Speaker 2: and so where I get all my all my.
- 7:46Speaker 3: I guess uh punishment comes from what he did.
- 7:52Speaker 2: So I kind of just kind of had to give
- 7:55Speaker 2: up homecoming on the night of and just have to
- 7:58Speaker 2: celebrate it after the game.
- 8:00Speaker 5: Yeah, And I think you know, and again I think
- 8:02Speaker 5: you want. I think the primary thing you will want
- 8:04Speaker 5: the players to do is just have that interaction with
- 8:07Speaker 5: the alumni, right, you want them to get to get
- 8:10Speaker 5: to know alumni, whether you know you have a plan
- 8:13Speaker 5: dinner or something like that. I think, to me, if
- 8:15Speaker 5: I'm a coaching, I'm thinking of it more towards that way,
- 8:18Speaker 5: like let's get to know alumni. And to your point,
- 8:20Speaker 5: you are correct. I mean, you know, we are the
- 8:23Speaker 5: homecoming the actual football team. So I think the primary
- 8:26Speaker 5: things should be the game and you know, winning it,
- 8:29Speaker 5: and then we can.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Celebrate a Yeah, and I and I think one of
- 8:31Speaker 2: the really simple things that we could do to your
- 8:34Speaker 2: point that you just made, is for the alumni people
- 8:40Speaker 2: who are coming back in there could be like a
- 8:44Speaker 2: dinner you know, that they could come to, they could
- 8:47Speaker 2: pay come to and players could sit around and eat
- 8:50Speaker 2: and then they can maybe because there's there's going to
- 8:51Speaker 2: be players that are going to be probably from their.
- 8:53Speaker 5: Hometown, from their hometown, yes, working within their field, different
- 8:57Speaker 5: things that.
- 8:58Speaker 3: So you could connect.
- 8:59Speaker 2: I think connecting those people with those kinds of you know,
- 9:02Speaker 2: the players with those kind of people, those kind of alumni,
- 9:05Speaker 2: I think that's the to me, that's something that I
- 9:08Speaker 2: think we should take advantage of at homecoming that we don't,
- 9:12Speaker 2: you know, because.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I think this is the opportunity.
- 9:14Speaker 2: You know, we talk about wanting the alumni and and
- 9:19Speaker 2: and when you talk alumni sometimes that's a dual word
- 9:21Speaker 2: because you're also talking about the people who have money
- 9:24Speaker 2: who support the school. Yes, So connecting players and those
- 9:31Speaker 2: people to have some time to be able to sit
- 9:35Speaker 2: around and chit chat over over dinner whatever. And I
- 9:39Speaker 2: think that would be a great opportunity for the players.
- 9:45Speaker 3: The network with people who are who've been successful.
- 9:48Speaker 2: And as we know, you know, you when you're watching
- 9:53Speaker 2: that game, you you're watching somebody's watching you play and
- 9:56Speaker 2: they're like, man, he's a great player, you know, and
- 9:58Speaker 2: they may never get chance to talk to you. But
- 10:01Speaker 2: now they now in this situation, that would be something that.
- 10:04Speaker 5: Could be possible, definitely, And I think it should be
- 10:06Speaker 5: opportunity to connect with those Hall of famers as well,
- 10:08Speaker 5: because you know, every homecoming, at least in State, you know,
- 10:11Speaker 5: we do inductions to the sports Hall of Fame, so
- 10:13Speaker 5: it should be like connections of all that. So I
- 10:15Speaker 5: think maybe for for coaches, excuse me, for players and coaches,
- 10:18Speaker 5: that maybe is the primary, you know, focus of the homecoming.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Besides, and I'm curious, I.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Don't and I don't remember this, but I don't know
- 10:27Speaker 2: if the players are even part of the the induction of.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Nah because generally, like the form the former inductions going
- 10:39Speaker 5: at least the State's on Saturday morning, so obviously you
- 10:41Speaker 5: get the game. Then at halftime is they'll introduce you
- 10:45Speaker 5: to the to the crowd, so.
- 10:47Speaker 2: See, And again I think there should be a place
- 10:50Speaker 2: for that connection as well, you know, to me as
- 10:55Speaker 2: a player, you as the as the inductee into the
- 10:57Speaker 2: Hall of Fame, or or even a sponsor or a
- 11:04Speaker 2: booster or whatever, I'd.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Like to be able to hear from you.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I'd like to connect with you because you might end
- 11:11Speaker 2: up like saying, oh, you know, he's a nice young man,
- 11:12Speaker 2: or me and a nice young man, but I would
- 11:16Speaker 2: love to be at the Hall of Fame.
- 11:17Speaker 3: I'd love to see and.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Because and we're planning to go this year because I
- 11:22Speaker 2: know coach of Moro's getting inducted, so I'll be there.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Yes, So again, you want to see that person go.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You know, it's important for them to see you there
- 11:34Speaker 2: as support.
- 11:35Speaker 5: And I think that's actually a great idea because I
- 11:38Speaker 5: think for you know, not just a statement for any school,
- 11:40Speaker 5: you could do like a like a sports Hall of
- 11:42Speaker 5: Fame dinner where you actually take all the athletes, anybody
- 11:46Speaker 5: who's in the going into the Hall of Famer, who's
- 11:48Speaker 5: already in there. You know, you get a table, all
- 11:50Speaker 5: the athletes can sit around these various Hall of famers
- 11:53Speaker 5: and business people and different things of the like, and
- 11:55Speaker 5: you can actually have that dinner or breakfast or lunch
- 11:57Speaker 5: or whatever that may be. That's actually a really good idea.
- 11:59Speaker 3: That's something that I think.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Ties current players to former players that you maybe even
- 12:08Speaker 2: heard of or maybe even had never heard of. But
- 12:11Speaker 2: you know, you know, status had some great players, some
- 12:14Speaker 2: great coaches that these players may may never get an
- 12:18Speaker 2: opportunity to know.
- 12:19Speaker 3: But if you put them in.
- 12:20Speaker 2: A situation to get to know them, I think that
- 12:24Speaker 2: inspires them.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I think to want to be you know, this is
- 12:28Speaker 3: my goal. I want to now.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I want to be in the Hall of Fame. I
- 12:31Speaker 2: want to be one day sitting in front of these players,
- 12:33Speaker 2: chit chatting with them.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Yeah, And I think it, you know, it connects those
- 12:36Speaker 5: generations of players. You know, you're you're obviously connected through
- 12:42Speaker 5: you know, your time spent at this university playing this
- 12:44Speaker 5: particular sport. So I think that's an excellent idea. And
- 12:48Speaker 5: I think, maybe, yeah, that's a that's a really good idea.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Well.
- 12:51Speaker 2: And and so if we if we if we go
- 12:55Speaker 2: to homecoming and we and we look at the like
- 12:59Speaker 2: the publics or the campus's concept of what homecoming is,
- 13:06Speaker 2: do they do you think that they have?
- 13:10Speaker 3: Is the game the major.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Piece of it or is it the the the activities
- 13:15Speaker 2: during the week for them?
- 13:17Speaker 3: I know for the players, we see.
- 13:19Speaker 2: It as the game. As a coach, I see it
- 13:21Speaker 2: as the game. I don't even care. As a coach,
- 13:24Speaker 2: I don't even care. I don't even care what y'all
- 13:27Speaker 2: doing this week. I'm worried about my guys getting caught
- 13:29Speaker 2: up in that.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I think the game is definitely a major part,
- 13:32Speaker 5: but I think the major part of it, you know,
- 13:34Speaker 5: you want those alumni to come back. You want, you know,
- 13:37Speaker 5: as a university, and I'm speaking specifically as a university,
- 13:40Speaker 5: you want those alumni to come back, see what's new
- 13:42Speaker 5: on campus, see what's been maintained, and hopefully donate you know, time,
- 13:46Speaker 5: money and resources back to the campus. So I think
- 13:49Speaker 5: that's probably the major part. And with the you know,
- 13:52Speaker 5: obviously the game being the centerpiece, but it's not, you know,
- 13:56Speaker 5: it's not the only part of it.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Are you are you when you when you say alumni,
- 14:01Speaker 2: are we are we separating or including as one former
- 14:06Speaker 2: players from players or is that a group too, because
- 14:12Speaker 2: a lot of times former players like to come because
- 14:14Speaker 2: of buddies are coming, and you know.
- 14:16Speaker 5: We're saying former players, we're talking about graduates. And to
- 14:19Speaker 5: your point, even those business people who didn't necessar maybe
- 14:22Speaker 5: attend the university, but have interests in the universities that have.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Hired people from the school, hire.
- 14:29Speaker 5: People in the school different So, like I said, it's
- 14:31Speaker 5: an opportunity to get all those folks together. Like I said,
- 14:34Speaker 5: it's a major network. And you mentioned something when we
- 14:37Speaker 5: talked about this, which I didn't know about, is sort
- 14:40Speaker 5: of a similar concept in the league alumni weekend.
- 14:42Speaker 2: So yeah, us about that Alumni weekend is an opportunity
- 14:46Speaker 2: for all of the all of the the alumni that
- 14:50Speaker 2: have played, whether one year or thirty years at at
- 14:56Speaker 2: on the team they can, they're able to come back,
- 15:01Speaker 2: they get an opportunity to go down on the field
- 15:03Speaker 2: at halftime, be introduced, and again, a lot of times
- 15:09Speaker 2: what I don't know if it's different, but it's it
- 15:12Speaker 2: feels different when you when you leave the vikings or
- 15:15Speaker 2: you leave a team. You know, somebody's going to this town,
- 15:18Speaker 2: this town, this state, that state and cross country all
- 15:21Speaker 2: that kind of stuff, and you really don't get a
- 15:22Speaker 2: chance to.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Talk to them that much.
- 15:25Speaker 2: But yet the NFL connection I think is bigger sometimes
- 15:31Speaker 2: than the college one or high school because I mean, yeah,
- 15:35Speaker 2: it's a small select group.
- 15:37Speaker 3: And so so.
- 15:38Speaker 5: Let me ask you that, like as far as those
- 15:40Speaker 5: when we talk about NFL Alumni Weekend, as far as
- 15:43Speaker 5: the individuals who are coming back to engaging that celebration,
- 15:46Speaker 5: are we talking about players, because you know, NFL is
- 15:49Speaker 5: a lot of movement right right, which is starting to
- 15:51Speaker 5: look like college now. So who's coming back? Or we
- 15:55Speaker 5: talking about those guys who play five to ten, or
- 15:56Speaker 5: we're talking about guy maybe maybe you got drafted, played
- 16:00Speaker 5: two or three seasons, and you off to the next team.
- 16:02Speaker 2: How does that work? I don't know of I don't
- 16:05Speaker 2: know of many players who who have played at other
- 16:10Speaker 2: teams that played with the Vikings that.
- 16:13Speaker 3: That go anywhere else.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Like I get I've gotten mailed from the Saints to
- 16:18Speaker 2: for their alumni weekend. Nah, I can't. I can't see myself.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I can't see myself going. Some of the guys that
- 16:24Speaker 2: I met that were good friends when I was there,
- 16:27Speaker 2: you know, I appreciate that.
- 16:28Speaker 3: But on the other side of it, like it's you.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Play like twelve years for the Saints with the Vikings,
- 16:34Speaker 2: Like yeah, yeah, So like I'm I'm I'm I'm connected
- 16:37Speaker 2: to a lot more guys with the Vikings than I am.
- 16:41Speaker 2: And if I could go, if I go to New
- 16:43Speaker 2: Orleans and maybe only one guy that I played with
- 16:47Speaker 2: is even there, I'm lost.
- 16:49Speaker 5: So so mainly so, is it a case where most
- 16:52Speaker 5: guys are going to participate in alumni weekend that play
- 16:55Speaker 5: whatever team they played for the longest.
- 16:57Speaker 3: I think so. I think so.
- 16:58Speaker 2: And I got a buddy, Vincy Glenn, who who is dying,
- 17:02Speaker 2: dying to get on.
- 17:04Speaker 3: He he and.
- 17:06Speaker 2: I became friends while while he played with the Vikings,
- 17:10Speaker 2: and he I think he may go to I think
- 17:17Speaker 2: he played for two or three maybe other teams, but
- 17:21Speaker 2: he enjoys coming to ours only though with if defensive
- 17:25Speaker 2: bocks that he knew got to know because he was
- 17:29Speaker 2: a defensive back. He would want to come back if
- 17:31Speaker 2: we're coming back. If he doesn't think we're coming, then
- 17:33Speaker 2: he's not coming. And I guess that could change.
- 17:36Speaker 5: Like even if you want to a team for maybe
- 17:38Speaker 5: two or three seasons, but maybe you won a Super Bowl. Yeah,
- 17:40Speaker 5: maybe he had your best seasons there, so maybe that
- 17:43Speaker 5: can change. That could change, that could change.
- 17:45Speaker 2: So far as the.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Celebration piece, you know, you're on the field, you kind
- 17:48Speaker 5: of doing stuff with team. What is what is the
- 17:50Speaker 5: the weekend? Look like we guys are hanging out there.
- 17:53Speaker 5: You don't have to get in too much details.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Well it basically it's it's you're down on the field.
- 17:58Speaker 2: They announce you. I mean, like, are you guys hanging
- 18:01Speaker 2: out as a party? Oh yes, yes, everybody. Everybody. There's
- 18:04Speaker 2: not really a party, but everybody's standing in the it's
- 18:07Speaker 2: the same hotel, everybody's eating at the same place.
- 18:11Speaker 3: You know.
- 18:11Speaker 2: The Vikings are getting you to where you got to go.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Then now when they drop you back off at the hotel,
- 18:15Speaker 2: then that's the that's all the players trying to come
- 18:18Speaker 2: up with.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Okay, where we're gonna go? What are we gonna do?
- 18:20Speaker 3: For the most.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Part, it's it's a it's groups of people who played together,
- 18:27Speaker 2: and there's there's there are younger players that come to
- 18:29Speaker 2: alumni weekend that don't.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Interact with us.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, because because they don't they're younger, and
- 18:36Speaker 2: they don't really know no know us, you know. And unfortunately,
- 18:41Speaker 2: at least where I think with the Vikings, and I'm
- 18:43Speaker 2: sure this is probably pretty much everywhere, I don't think
- 18:45Speaker 2: that there's that. I don't know if the younger players
- 18:48Speaker 2: are overly interested in like getting like, hey, hey, my
- 18:53Speaker 2: name is this this my name is Carle. Okay, cool,
- 18:55Speaker 2: and I think that's enough for them. I don't think
- 18:58Speaker 2: it is like Okay, let's go sit down and have
- 19:00Speaker 2: her or you know, sit and talk. I don't think
- 19:02Speaker 2: I don't think that's I don't think that's their.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Their interest.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I think they want to go out with their buddies
- 19:09Speaker 2: and yeah, and becoming.
- 19:11Speaker 5: A racial And the thing that I seen because I
- 19:13Speaker 5: went to the Vikings facility this summer, and the thing
- 19:16Speaker 5: that I seen was again I don't I don't know
- 19:18Speaker 5: of how they do it anywhere else, but it seemed
- 19:20Speaker 5: like you guys really celebrate that pass and really celebrate
- 19:24Speaker 5: those past teams. And I mean, you've seen just you know,
- 19:28Speaker 5: image at the image of older players, and they had
- 19:31Speaker 5: the list of the teams that started this season that
- 19:34Speaker 5: team pictures everywhere. So it seems like you guys do
- 19:36Speaker 5: a pretty good job of like trying to maintain that
- 19:39Speaker 5: continuity among I would players.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I would say that probably everybody does it at some
- 19:45Speaker 3: to some degree.
- 19:46Speaker 2: I think the Vikings have really started to push that
- 19:51Speaker 2: even more than it used to be. But let's take
- 19:53Speaker 2: a quick break and we'll be right back and we'll
- 19:55Speaker 2: pick up the conversation from there.

- 20:55Speaker 4: Now back to the conversation.
- 20:58Speaker 3: All right, ladies and gentlemen, we are back and.
- 21:02Speaker 5: Yeah, so you know, you know again homecomings. It's a
- 21:06Speaker 5: big time to celebrate. But let's talk about a little
- 21:09Speaker 5: something else now when we talk about the heisman, just
- 21:13Speaker 5: before we get into it, what does the heisman mean
- 21:15Speaker 5: to Carley?
- 21:19Speaker 2: To me, it represents someone who is the best player.
- 21:27Speaker 3: In college football.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Okay, because as far as it content, at least the
- 21:31Speaker 5: early contendents, we have the quarterback from Alabama. You got
- 21:35Speaker 5: the quarterback from Miami Hurricanes. I think before we know it,
- 21:39Speaker 5: arch Manny quarterback from Texas. He'll find his way into
- 21:42Speaker 5: that conversation if he keeps starting and keep playing.
- 21:44Speaker 2: How he does.
- 21:45Speaker 5: But you also have a guy like Travis Hunter. Now, normally,
- 21:49Speaker 5: what's been happened at least the last probably I say
- 21:52Speaker 5: decade or so, maybe even better, what appears to happen
- 21:56Speaker 5: is that generally you're just taking the best player on
- 22:00Speaker 5: the best team, not necessarily considering who's the actual best player.
- 22:06Speaker 5: I mean, I think even when Randy Moss when he
- 22:10Speaker 5: was you know, I think he got third or fourth
- 22:12Speaker 5: of the year of Charleston Woodson running, it was a people
- 22:14Speaker 5: were amazed that he even made like the top. You know,
- 22:18Speaker 5: even though Marshall was very good. It was a smaller
- 22:20Speaker 5: school at the time, even smaller than what it is now.
- 22:23Speaker 5: But for him to be on there was just an
- 22:24Speaker 5: accomplishment for him to be in the consideration. Although you know,
- 22:27Speaker 5: he's probably the best player in college football. So When
- 22:31Speaker 5: I look at a guy like Travis Hunter, who's playing
- 22:34Speaker 5: one hundred and thirty snaps a game, who's getting one
- 22:36Speaker 5: hundred plus yards receiving a game, who's get scored touchdowns,
- 22:39Speaker 5: who locking down, who's tackling, who's breaking up passes, I
- 22:44Speaker 5: just don't see how he's not.
- 22:47Speaker 2: The best player in college wad.
- 22:49Speaker 5: And I don't see how he's not going to get
- 22:51Speaker 5: at least from some early pundits quote unquote, they're pretty
- 22:55Speaker 5: much saying, well, they're kind of just casting him off already.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Okay, so let me ask this question.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Okay, tell me what your thoughts were around Randy Moss.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Randy Moss and his opportunity to to be to win.
- 23:11Speaker 5: That Covenant Prize. I mean, to me, he was the
- 23:15Speaker 5: best player in college football. But I'll say this for
- 23:18Speaker 5: that year Charleston Charles Woodson winning, who was a safety,
- 23:21Speaker 5: but and he also played receiver Michigan. I don't know
- 23:23Speaker 5: if they won a national chamber. They won the Rose
- 23:25Speaker 5: Bowl kind of when the bowls were still you know,
- 23:28Speaker 5: meaning something. So he played for a big time program.
- 23:30Speaker 5: He was playing defense, he's playing offense, although not a
- 23:33Speaker 5: full time offensive player. He was coming in he was
- 23:37Speaker 5: coming out, he wasn't playing, he wasn't doing what Travis
- 23:40Speaker 5: Hunter's doing. So I think in my mind I could
- 23:43Speaker 5: justify him winning. I mean, you also had Peyton Manny,
- 23:46Speaker 5: who was you know, a very very you know, Hall
- 23:48Speaker 5: of Fame quarterback. So in my mind I could justify
- 23:51Speaker 5: Charles Woodson winning it that year just because the level
- 23:54Speaker 5: of the programmer he's playing with, and he's playing offense
- 23:57Speaker 5: and defense and he's doing very well in both.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:00Speaker 5: So although I thought mart Raindy Moss was the best player.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Right, Okay, So then the question becomes, is the Heisman
- 24:06Speaker 2: for the best player or do you got to do
- 24:11Speaker 2: some other things in order for you to Because normally, normally,
- 24:15Speaker 2: for in most cases, the great quarterback is going to
- 24:18Speaker 2: get the Heisman?
- 24:19Speaker 3: Which, right? Which is which? Which?
- 24:21Speaker 2: Okay, he might have a great receiver, might even have
- 24:23Speaker 2: a great lineman. You know, it might just be a
- 24:26Speaker 2: good player on the best on the best team.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Right.
- 24:29Speaker 2: So for me, I don't see how, I don't know
- 24:35Speaker 2: how you don't see Randy Moss as the number one
- 24:40Speaker 2: player in the.
- 24:43Speaker 3: In college football.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I don't care where he played, right, he could have
- 24:47Speaker 2: played the State you know what I'm saying he's the
- 24:50Speaker 2: best player.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Period and and he shows it. He showed it in
- 24:59Speaker 3: the league.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and but I mean, but you can't look at
- 25:04Speaker 2: the league though. We can't take that in there.
- 25:06Speaker 3: See, here's my thing.
- 25:07Speaker 2: You can't take that into it.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Here's what I think.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Okay, So if you're a Heisman Trophy winner, h so
- 25:15Speaker 2: you're the best player in college football, you got to
- 25:18Speaker 2: be something in the pros. No, you don't. That's I know,
- 25:22Speaker 2: that's not considered. That's not considered just maybe good. No,
- 25:26Speaker 2: not really. You just may be a good college football player.
- 25:29Speaker 2: And that's where it stands. I see, I can't it's
- 25:33Speaker 2: hard for me to even and I and I totally
- 25:35Speaker 2: understand it.
- 25:36Speaker 3: It's what you did, what what they what you.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Did for me in the moment, right being the greatest
- 25:43Speaker 2: league guess college football player, not the best I understand,
- 25:46Speaker 2: because you can't like a guy like Tim Tebow, he's
- 25:48Speaker 2: never going to be like a great NFL quarterback just
- 25:51Speaker 2: because of a variety of issues. But a college quarterback,
- 25:54Speaker 2: he's going to be greatest of all time. And that's
- 25:56Speaker 2: what you got to count.
- 25:57Speaker 5: And just and just to clarify, far as the the
- 26:00Speaker 5: Heisman odds as I'm seeing it now, you got Jalen
- 26:03Speaker 5: Milroy Alabama. You got cam Ward Miami, and this is
- 26:07Speaker 5: in order. You got Travis Hunter Colorado, you got asked
- 26:11Speaker 5: in uh gente boozy Boise State, and you got Dylan
- 26:16Speaker 5: Gabriel Oregon.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Okay, that's your order.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Okay, so let me ask this question of that, but
- 26:20Speaker 2: it back from Tennessee as well of that of that class,
- 26:25Speaker 2: who is the okay because because you said best player, right,
- 26:28Speaker 2: I'm saying best player. Okay, all right, so who is
- 26:31Speaker 2: the actual best player in that group?
- 26:34Speaker 3: And and.
- 26:36Speaker 2: I'm gonna make the I'm gonna make the case if
- 26:40Speaker 2: you're playing offense and defense as well on both sides
- 26:44Speaker 2: of the ball, and playing full time and playing full
- 26:46Speaker 2: time like you're not.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Coming off the field. But that ain't that's that order
- 26:50Speaker 3: right there is already wrong.
- 26:52Speaker 2: And that's what I think I mean, because that's the
- 26:54Speaker 2: and the thing is.
- 26:55Speaker 5: Like you just said, and I think the points you're
- 26:56Speaker 5: saying is like you're playing well on both sides of
- 26:58Speaker 5: the ball. You're not just like out there, No, you
- 27:01Speaker 5: know what I'm saying, You're actually contributing. Now I guess
- 27:03Speaker 5: again the caveat and the sort of the argument to
- 27:06Speaker 5: that would be, well, he's playing at Colorado, They're probably
- 27:09Speaker 5: gonna end up losing maybe two or three games.
- 27:12Speaker 2: And you're playing.
- 27:13Speaker 5: Versu a guy like you know, the quarterback from Alabama
- 27:17Speaker 5: who's playing out Alabama. You're gonna play Gege, You're gonna
- 27:19Speaker 5: play l U. So you're playing the top level teams.
- 27:21Speaker 5: Jayalen Milroy's playing a top level team and you're and
- 27:24Speaker 5: you're I mean, for example, what he did, uh the
- 27:27Speaker 5: game he had against Georgia last week, just dominant.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Okay, So now what you're saying, Okay, I'm just saying.
- 27:32Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not I'm not tagging you on it,
- 27:35Speaker 2: but I'm just saying from what you what you stated.
- 27:38Speaker 3: So not only do you now have to you you
- 27:43Speaker 3: have to be at.
- 27:44Speaker 2: A at a school that plays other schools who have
- 27:50Speaker 2: other higher level of quote talent in order for you
- 27:55Speaker 2: to even have a shot. I mean, that's the sin.
- 27:59Speaker 5: And I think the other problem with that is that
- 28:02Speaker 5: as a committee number one, I don't like sports writers
- 28:05Speaker 5: and players and all this stuff just having you know,
- 28:08Speaker 5: just having these random votes out there right because you're
- 28:11Speaker 5: not watching every single game. There needs to be a committee,
- 28:15Speaker 5: a scientist where you're watching every game and you're actually
- 28:20Speaker 5: seeing who is the best out there, because you're not,
- 28:22Speaker 5: you know, the person who watches the whole all SEC games.
- 28:26Speaker 5: You may check out Travis Hunter one or two times
- 28:29Speaker 5: in totality, because you know, for me to get the
- 28:32Speaker 5: highlights or for me to read the cliff notes, it's
- 28:34Speaker 5: different for me to actually watch the game and have
- 28:36Speaker 5: an analytical perspective of how they performed in different scenarios.
- 28:39Speaker 2: All Right, so I'm gonna probably say something that I
- 28:42Speaker 2: probably shouldn't say. All right, Right, My issue would whether
- 28:48Speaker 2: it be media or a closed group that you don't
- 28:54Speaker 2: know who are making these decisions. Okay. My problem with
- 28:57Speaker 2: that is is, Okay, first of all, you can't judge
- 29:02Speaker 2: if you didn't play.
- 29:04Speaker 3: You know, if you're an English major and you didn't
- 29:08Speaker 3: play ball, how can you how? How? Because all you
- 29:13Speaker 3: got is what you see?
- 29:14Speaker 5: I mean, but that's all that counts, right, Okay, Just
- 29:17Speaker 5: because a ball player doesn't mean that you can't have
- 29:19Speaker 5: a perspective and be very detailed.
- 29:22Speaker 3: You could be you could be a great coach. You
- 29:24Speaker 3: could be a great coach.
- 29:24Speaker 2: And I'm not saying you can't be a good you
- 29:26Speaker 2: could you can't be a bad right, don't you have
- 29:28Speaker 2: to be a bad writer? But but you's of talent
- 29:33Speaker 2: and what's you can do that even though you made
- 29:36Speaker 2: it just means what do you?
- 29:36Speaker 3: What do you? Okay?
- 29:37Speaker 2: So so if if, how do you how do you
- 29:41Speaker 2: judge Darryl Green and and and and uh Deon Sanders?
- 29:45Speaker 3: How how do you judge?
- 29:47Speaker 2: Like when you look at those two athletes, both of
- 29:50Speaker 2: them was in the both of them could do any
- 29:53Speaker 2: and everything.
- 29:54Speaker 5: But I don't think you have to be a player,
- 29:56Speaker 5: Like I don't have to be I didn't say a player, Okay,
- 29:58Speaker 5: I don't have to be a cornerback a player to
- 30:00Speaker 5: actually do that. I think that what you can do
- 30:02Speaker 5: if you studied the position, if you really did your homework,
- 30:06Speaker 5: you could do. I think you can form an analysis
- 30:08Speaker 5: based off of whatever factors are available to you. So
- 30:12Speaker 5: I don't think you have okay, So okay, So although
- 30:16Speaker 5: it helps that you are playing, you actually played again and.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Again I'm not saying I'm not necessarily saying the player,
- 30:21Speaker 2: but I'm saying I'll take coaches, I'll take anybody. So
- 30:27Speaker 2: I'm saying you have to be you have to be
- 30:29Speaker 2: in the game. So I think that some some whether
- 30:32Speaker 2: it's coaches, whether it's oh, are you talking about like
- 30:35Speaker 2: current coaches ought to be choosing it? Yes, or you
- 30:38Speaker 2: don't have time to watch all of it.
- 30:40Speaker 3: You know you're no, you're gonna.
- 30:41Speaker 2: See film if they're in your division, if nothing else,
- 30:44Speaker 2: if they're in your division. So okay, so some time
- 30:47Speaker 2: to do all that. So who's So who's got time?
- 30:50Speaker 2: Who's I'm saying, you form a committee, okay, But I'm
- 30:53Speaker 2: just saying, currently, what we the system that we have
- 30:55Speaker 2: now is sports writers and players. It's a whole bunch
- 30:58Speaker 2: of it.
- 30:58Speaker 3: And who who's watching everything? Who's watching all of it?
- 31:01Speaker 3: To make that?
- 31:02Speaker 5: Say nobody? And I'm saying this is what it should be.
- 31:04Speaker 5: I'm saying, you take whatever conference are, to take power five,
- 31:07Speaker 5: power for whatever it is. You take a number of
- 31:09Speaker 5: each body. You have a body that represents each conference,
- 31:12Speaker 5: and y'all say, y'all gonna watch these games, and y'all
- 31:14Speaker 5: gonna come up with week to week votes and decisions
- 31:17Speaker 5: you're gonna have. You're gonna issue a report weekly about this.
- 31:20Speaker 5: So every Monday, every Monday, we're giving you.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Okay, these are the top and you gotta watch it.
- 31:26Speaker 2: You gotta watch this. We are sign you gotta watch
- 31:28Speaker 2: these games. You come together, but you're gonna get, You're
- 31:30Speaker 2: gonna get. You're gonna get down to five to ten players.
- 31:34Speaker 2: And I'm saying I do it.
- 31:36Speaker 5: You do it for the top twenty five, and you
- 31:38Speaker 5: just go ahead and filter that end through and do
- 31:40Speaker 5: the Heisman and awards that way as well. Because to me,
- 31:43Speaker 5: it's like, if I'm just a sports writer and I
- 31:46Speaker 5: work at you know, I'm working Big twelve and I'm
- 31:48Speaker 5: in West Virginia, the majority of my time is gonna
- 31:51Speaker 5: be spent watching West Virginia and whoever West Virginia plays.
- 31:54Speaker 5: So you may as a job, you may not ever
- 31:56Speaker 5: watch Colorado's just because that's yours. Your job is to,
- 32:00Speaker 5: you know, cover the Big twelve and cover specifically West Virginia. Right,
- 32:03Speaker 5: So it has to be somebody or a group of
- 32:05Speaker 5: individuals however it's represented to take this task on. Yeah,
- 32:10Speaker 5: And because I don't like where they're going, I don't
- 32:13Speaker 5: I don't like where it is.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think that it's I don't think that
- 32:16Speaker 2: it and I'm going to phrase it this way. I
- 32:19Speaker 2: don't think that it's that it's unfair. I just think
- 32:23Speaker 2: that it's unaware. That's actually a really that's actually a
- 32:26Speaker 2: really good point.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think that. I don't think anybody's trying
- 32:29Speaker 3: to be unfair.
- 32:31Speaker 2: I just think they're just unaware of because again, when
- 32:34Speaker 2: you think, you know, when you start thinking about the
- 32:37Speaker 2: top ten college football teams in the country, how many
- 32:43Speaker 2: of those players that are outside of that top ten
- 32:47Speaker 2: might be great players. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You know,
- 32:49Speaker 2: I'm saying saying that you're saying, well, okay, yeah, we're
- 32:52Speaker 2: hearing about him, and we're you know, we think he's good.
- 32:54Speaker 2: But I think they do they just take the top ten,
- 32:57Speaker 2: top fifteen teams and say who's the best. He's gotta
- 33:00Speaker 2: come for that team. It's gotta come from Alabama. Yeah,
- 33:02Speaker 2: but it might not.
- 33:03Speaker 5: You know, there's a lot of times where even in Alabama,
- 33:05Speaker 5: and I love Dereck Henry. I think he's a great
- 33:07Speaker 5: Hall of Fame running back. You've been at the NFL level,
- 33:09Speaker 5: But for that season, Christian McCaffrey was the best player
- 33:12Speaker 5: in college football. He was receiving, he was punned, he
- 33:15Speaker 5: was and.
- 33:17Speaker 2: How many times do we get to this time of
- 33:19Speaker 2: the year and those selections happen and we're mad, yeah,
- 33:24Speaker 2: because we're like, what what about this guy?
- 33:27Speaker 3: And and and you know how it's.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Get it gets written off by well, you know, it's
- 33:31Speaker 2: tough decisions. You know, it's you know, these guys are
- 33:33Speaker 2: making really really tough decisions.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Then you need to do more.
- 33:36Speaker 2: You need to do more.
- 33:37Speaker 3: You can't just randomly just.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Think just because this guy is he's getting the most
- 33:42Speaker 2: attention on TV. Well, if you if you're in Alabama
- 33:45Speaker 2: and you're playing, and especially when you had Nick saban
- 33:48Speaker 2: On walking on the sideline, Bro, you're gonna get some attention.
- 33:51Speaker 5: Yeah, you're gonna get Every game is coming, Notre Dame,
- 33:53Speaker 5: every game is covered. So I just think you ought
- 33:55Speaker 5: to have to me have a committee.
- 33:57Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 33:58Speaker 5: It's specifically like or what the commedian that you have
- 34:01Speaker 5: now that does the playoffs? They need to not only
- 34:03Speaker 5: be doing the playoffs, they need to be doing the rankings,
- 34:05Speaker 5: which I think they do, but I also need to
- 34:06Speaker 5: be doing no awards.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Because I don't know how anybody Okay, I don't know
- 34:12Speaker 2: how anybody could watch Randy Moss and and him not
- 34:18Speaker 2: pick up every single possible award that could be offered
- 34:22Speaker 2: to a college.
- 34:23Speaker 5: I think they're looking at it, well, they're playing max
- 34:25Speaker 5: schools or they're playing these schools, so they're not necessarily
- 34:28Speaker 5: honed in specifically on the talent itself. They're looking at
- 34:32Speaker 5: all what could he do this against Florida.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Cit here If I were on that if I was
- 34:38Speaker 2: trying to make that boat, and I am who exactly
- 34:40Speaker 2: who I am? Now, this would be my this would
- 34:43Speaker 2: be my process. Okay, all right, let me think of
- 34:45Speaker 2: how how would I color him? Okay, so, okay, So
- 34:49Speaker 2: I'm a bump and run guy. So my first problem
- 34:52Speaker 2: is he's taller than me, He's faster than me, he
- 34:58Speaker 2: can jump higher than me, and so and and this
- 35:03Speaker 2: is how I assess, you know, who's the best wide receiver.
- 35:07Speaker 2: I'm faster than Jerry Rice. Believe it or not, I'm
- 35:10Speaker 2: faster than him. He didn't He don't scare me. He
- 35:12Speaker 2: didn't scare me. Randy would scare me because you know what,
- 35:15Speaker 2: even if I could catch him, even if I was
- 35:18Speaker 2: at his body, he he's got six inches of jumping
- 35:21Speaker 2: on me plus four inches hype wise, So how do
- 35:26Speaker 2: you cover that guy?
- 35:27Speaker 5: But I but I again, that might be the way
- 35:30Speaker 5: you were processing, but I think other people are not
- 35:32Speaker 5: looking at it like so introspectively. They're looking at it
- 35:35Speaker 5: from a standpoint of just saying, Okay, he's a great player,
- 35:38Speaker 5: but he's playing against them, you know what I'm saying.
- 35:40Speaker 5: And I think that's the way they're.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Okay, But okay, so let me ask this question because
- 35:44Speaker 2: because I'm feeling a certain kind of way here, okay, so, uh.
- 35:50Speaker 3: So is my way you think my way is wrong
- 35:54Speaker 3: or or.
- 35:55Speaker 5: I don't think it's wrong because that's the way you're
- 35:58Speaker 5: processing it. But I think you you can't look at
- 36:01Speaker 5: every position like that because you're not looking at an
- 36:03Speaker 5: offensive lineman or a defensive linement position right like that,
- 36:05Speaker 5: right because you didn't play those positions. You're not thinking
- 36:07Speaker 5: about how would I how would I guard him? How
- 36:09Speaker 5: would attack him? Now again, you may think from a
- 36:11Speaker 5: coaching perspective, like, okay, we got this great defensive a
- 36:15Speaker 5: dominicance sue when he was at I think Wisconsin or Nebraska.
- 36:18Speaker 5: You may think, dang, what what?
- 36:20Speaker 3: How?
- 36:20Speaker 5: How could I stop him? What could I do to
- 36:23Speaker 5: to to to neutralize him? So you may think at
- 36:25Speaker 5: him from that perspective, could we run this, or could
- 36:27Speaker 5: we do this, or maybe we got a double triple team.
- 36:30Speaker 2: You see, I think, I think, I think at any point,
- 36:33Speaker 2: I think, at any point, at any position, coaching or whatever,
- 36:36Speaker 2: I think. The issue with somebody like Randy, which to
- 36:39Speaker 2: me makes it so clear, is okay, if.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Who could who could cover him?
- 36:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 36:47Speaker 5: But that again, but but again, if I'm not a
- 36:51Speaker 5: football player, if I'm not a coach, if i'm media, right,
- 36:54Speaker 5: I'm not looking at it necessarily like that. I'm looking
- 36:57Speaker 5: at it like, Okay, the guys in the MAC can
- 37:00Speaker 5: cover him. This ain't me, I know better, But somebody
- 37:04Speaker 5: else may look at it like, Okay, the guys in
- 37:06Speaker 5: the MAN can't cover him, But I wonder if the
- 37:08Speaker 5: guy's in the SEC could cover him and he don't
- 37:10Speaker 5: play them, so then so for that reason, that's a
- 37:14Speaker 5: demo or that's a demerit, that's a knock. You see
- 37:17Speaker 5: what I'm saying, the way their process Yeah, I toldly,
- 37:20Speaker 5: not from like a player, not processing from a scheming perspective.
- 37:24Speaker 5: I told looking at this this verse that I totally
- 37:27Speaker 5: which which don't really add up once you understand the
- 37:32Speaker 5: scheming and just the man on man process, because if
- 37:35Speaker 5: you understand that process, you don't you understand it. It doesn't
- 37:38Speaker 5: matter if it was SEC. Heck, it didn't matter if
- 37:41Speaker 5: it was NFL.
- 37:42Speaker 2: It don't matter. He made everybody. Everybody he most quote
- 37:46Speaker 2: unquote everybody everybody. Yeah so yeah, so I I don't know, man,
- 37:50Speaker 2: I just those kinds of teams, you know, I know,
- 37:55Speaker 2: I know as a kid, you know, wanting to make
- 37:57Speaker 2: all conference and all this and all that and all that.
- 37:59Speaker 2: I can remember wanting to make all that and then
- 38:01Speaker 2: even getting into the pros. I was so excited after,
- 38:04Speaker 2: you know, making you know, going to the Pro Bowl
- 38:07Speaker 2: all blah blah blah blah. But on the other side
- 38:10Speaker 2: of it, you know, as time has gone on, you know,
- 38:15Speaker 2: and I and I sit now and I stood and.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Watched kind of like somebody.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I'm thinking, like it's really good, and I'm like like,
- 38:22Speaker 2: and you know, like what's going on?
- 38:23Speaker 3: Like what like how does that not happen? Like why
- 38:25Speaker 3: is that person not getting this award it? Why is
- 38:27Speaker 3: this guy not getting the high? Why is he not
- 38:29Speaker 3: getting that?
- 38:30Speaker 2: And and the amazing piece to me though, and and
- 38:36Speaker 2: I'm curious of what you say to this. And we're
- 38:38Speaker 2: pretty much got to wrap it up here, But how
- 38:41Speaker 2: does like, why is it that we don't know who
- 38:45Speaker 2: does this voting?
- 38:47Speaker 5: I don't know, man, it's too spread out. It's like
- 38:49Speaker 5: I said, I think we got to ring that back
- 38:51Speaker 5: in again. It's just another part with it. N C
- 38:54Speaker 5: double A just fails. I think a lot of times
- 38:57Speaker 5: they end up just getting it right because it's obvious.
- 38:59Speaker 5: But for years like this where it ain't so obvious
- 39:02Speaker 5: who the best player is, where it's really kind of
- 39:04Speaker 5: even like the Marshall Falks. You know Toretta year right, Yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 5: you know, Toretta was a good quarterback on the one
- 39:09Speaker 5: of the greatest team ever. But Marshall Funk was the
- 39:11Speaker 5: best player. So it's like stuff like this is it
- 39:14Speaker 5: And before we wrap up, you went to Alaska. Tell
- 39:18Speaker 5: us a little tell us a little bit about that
- 39:20Speaker 5: trip before you go.
- 39:21Speaker 2: All right, So it was the most amazing And I'll
- 39:24Speaker 2: probably try to post some pictures here because I've got
- 39:26Speaker 2: a bunch of really cool pictures that that we took.
- 39:30Speaker 3: It was great, man, it was. It was.
- 39:32Speaker 2: It was chilly, it was in the forties and and
- 39:34Speaker 2: all that, but but it was still it was actually
- 39:37Speaker 2: still comfortable. You know had been been in Minnesota before.
- 39:40Speaker 2: It was still kind of now was it daytime? They're
- 39:43Speaker 2: all all night?
- 39:44Speaker 3: It was it? No, it was, it was.
- 39:46Speaker 2: It was.
- 39:46Speaker 3: It was night and day long day. It was a
- 39:49Speaker 3: pretty much long day.
- 39:50Speaker 2: But man, just to have opportunities to walk on some
- 39:54Speaker 2: of these like mountains and and up and down, up
- 40:00Speaker 2: and down and seeing the beautiful scenery it was. And
- 40:03Speaker 2: I'd always wanted to go, and I just never thought
- 40:06Speaker 2: I would ever. I would never thought to buy a
- 40:08Speaker 2: ticket and go. But in this situation, I got an
- 40:10Speaker 2: opportunity to go with a bunch of guys, John Randall,
- 40:13Speaker 2: Henry Thomas, Tommy Kramer, and Buddy Becker, and uh, he
- 40:18Speaker 2: put the vent on force and it was it was.
- 40:21Speaker 2: It was great and we just got a chance to
- 40:23Speaker 2: We went downtown Anchorage. It just looks like a regular
- 40:26Speaker 2: town like anybody, you know, like anywhere else you'd go.
- 40:28Speaker 2: But man, when you got on the outer side of it,
- 40:31Speaker 2: it was just absolutely gorgeous.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Man, And I would right, oh gosh.
- 40:37Speaker 2: We had a lot of a lot of a lot
- 40:40Speaker 2: of uh actually a lot of biking fans and just
- 40:43Speaker 2: a few that wore their jerseys to some of the
- 40:46Speaker 2: events that we went to where they were packer stuff
- 40:49Speaker 2: and one of them was a was a was a
- 40:51Speaker 2: sterling sharp fan too, so so we had a we
- 40:55Speaker 2: had a few confrontations about that kind of stuff, but man,
- 40:58Speaker 2: it was.
- 40:58Speaker 3: It was great. And if you were one of those
- 41:00Speaker 3: people who would like to go or want to go, go, man,
- 41:04Speaker 3: go you will. You will absolutely enjoy it. I promise
- 41:07Speaker 3: you that nice. All right, well, let me give one.
