Peace Now: Settlement building at all time high
Washington says it is deeply troubled by the decision by the Israeli government advancing plans for some 5,700 new settlement homes in the West Bank.
A US national security spokesperson denounced the decision, saying it "undermines the geographic viability of a two-state solution, exacerbates tensions, and further harms trust between the two parties".
According to the anti-settlement group Peace Now, the last six months have seen more than 13,000 settlement homes advanced in the territory - about three times as many as in the whole of last year.
