- 2:00Speaker 7: a time. Coming up on the show a little bit
- 2:02Speaker 7: later on, we're going to get a visit from Mark Carter,
- 2:04Speaker 7: who is a Republican running for House in District fifty seven.
- 2:07Speaker 7: He'll join us in studio. Also, we're going to talk
- 2:10Speaker 7: to our good buddy Joe Stevens from the City of Nitro's.
- 2:12Speaker 7: They've got a big beer and chili fest going on
- 2:15Speaker 7: tomorrow on the Streets of Nitro and cine financier Eric
- 2:18Speaker 7: Tarr will be here as well. And of course we
- 2:21Speaker 7: don't have Hannah Gardner this week with our doct meaning
- 2:23Speaker 7: please put of the week. However, I do have the
- 2:24Speaker 7: pet and Tom Bragg is going to be playing the
- 2:27Speaker 7: part of Hannah Gardner. Coming up a little bit later on.
- 2:29Speaker 7: Tom's here to talk to from high school football, as
- 2:31Speaker 7: is Jeff Jenkins here on WCCHS Jeff, good Morning. We
- 2:35Speaker 7: have what promises to be an epic match up between
- 2:38Speaker 7: GW and Hurricane. That game in Hurricane and Jeff, you
- 2:41Speaker 7: and Aaron Parker will call that game tonight and over
- 2:43Speaker 7: on Superstar Country KWS, it'll be Hoover travel at Hedgesville.
- 2:46Speaker 7: Talk to Tom in a moment, Jeff, good Morning. Should
- 2:49Speaker 7: be a good one tonight in Hurricane.
- 2:50Speaker 8: Yeah, so that's this is this is always a good
- 2:53Speaker 8: game between these two Hurricane and GW. These are both
- 2:56Speaker 8: these are top ten teams in Class Quada and as
- 3:00Speaker 8: we know that everybody in Quada makes the playoffs all sixteen.
- 3:06Speaker 8: It's just kind of where you fall. And Tom and
- 3:07Speaker 8: I were talking off the air, you just want to
- 3:09Speaker 8: stay out of the bottom couple positions there because you
- 3:14Speaker 8: don't want to have to go in the road to
- 3:16Speaker 8: go to Martinsburg. Although Hurkan plays Martinsburg next week to
- 3:19Speaker 8: wrap up their season, but you don't want to have
- 3:20Speaker 8: to go on the road to play Martinsburg or Spring
- 3:24Speaker 8: Mills or you know, two powerful teams. So this is
- 3:27Speaker 8: a good match with these are these two teams right
- 3:29Speaker 8: in the middle of the pack in Quada in the rankings.
- 3:32Speaker 8: They've had good years and they'll play tonight at Hurricane,
- 3:37Speaker 8: and it comes down to defense. You know, GW GW
- 3:41Speaker 8: has a good defense, solid defense, Steve Everids Junior and
- 3:45Speaker 8: so can they hold And we can bring Tom in
- 3:47Speaker 8: on this because he knows a lot about it. You know,
- 3:50Speaker 8: can they hold the end of that powerful offense of
- 3:52Speaker 8: Hurrican down tonight?
- 3:54Speaker 9: Yeah, I think that's the key to the game. Talking
- 3:56Speaker 9: with Hurricane coach Donnie Mays this week for some things
- 3:58Speaker 9: I was working on, he said, much, you know, we
- 4:01Speaker 9: have been very good at getting the ball into the
- 4:03Speaker 9: end zone. They have been very good at keeping the
- 4:04Speaker 9: ball out of the end zone. And whoever kind of
- 4:07Speaker 9: shines the most in that'll probably be the one that
- 4:08Speaker 9: comes out of this one.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Happy.
- 4:09Speaker 10: Yes.
- 4:10Speaker 8: So if you're George Washington, you're going to try to
- 4:12Speaker 8: force turnovers off offensively? Can you play ball control a
- 4:16Speaker 8: little bit when you have the ball? Can you keep
- 4:18Speaker 8: Hurricane off the field, because Hurricane they score a lot,
- 4:21Speaker 8: and they score quickly.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 7: Usually, Yeah, big strike. It should be a good one
- 4:26Speaker 7: tonight again, Jeff, you will, along with Aaron Parker, will
- 4:29Speaker 7: have the call from the Land of the Redskins tonight.
- 4:32Speaker 7: A lot of people going to be at that game,
- 4:33Speaker 7: I'm sure tonight.
- 4:35Speaker 8: And I think the weather's going to be great too,
- 4:36Speaker 8: because we've got the rain and the clouds this morning,
- 4:39Speaker 8: but it's supposed to clear out and have some sunshine
- 4:43Speaker 8: by afternoon and be in the upper sixties tonight. And
- 4:47Speaker 8: for November first man, you take that, You'll take that
- 4:49Speaker 8: all day long. At the end of the high school
- 4:51Speaker 8: football season. Yes, so we're looking forward to it tonight.
- 4:53Speaker 7: All right, Jeff, I know you've got a lot to do.
- 4:54Speaker 7: We'll let you go. I appreciate you being here. Jeff
- 4:56Speaker 7: Jenkins again, He and Aaron Parker will have coverage of
- 4:59Speaker 7: Hurricane and GW from Hurricane tonight. In that game. Our
- 5:02Speaker 7: coverage will start at around seven o'clock to day vlland
- 5:05Speaker 7: showing five Anty Live broad to you in part by
- 5:06Speaker 7: Morgan and Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. Thomas Go
- 5:09Speaker 7: back to you. You and Murphy have got a pretty
- 5:12Speaker 7: long road trip tonight as you're heading to Hedgesville to
- 5:16Speaker 7: cover Hoover and Hedgesville. Yeah, well the road trip's going
- 5:19Speaker 7: to be today. The game is tonight, But yeah, it's
- 5:22Speaker 7: a long should have already left about ten minutes ago.
- 5:24Speaker 9: We're gonna head aut he here probably around lunchtime to
- 5:26Speaker 9: get up there. Just give us enough time in case
- 5:28Speaker 9: anything happens on the road, and time to get something
- 5:30Speaker 9: to eat, get settled in up there. But yeah, I
- 5:33Speaker 9: haven't been to Hedgesville for a game too before. I'm
- 5:35Speaker 9: gonna check one off the list.
- 5:37Speaker 7: And there may be people listening right now that are saying, Okay,
- 5:40Speaker 7: Hoover's going to Hedgesville exactly where his Hedgesville.
- 5:43Speaker 9: Hedgesville, you're going to the eastern Panhandle. You're going out
- 5:45Speaker 9: to the suburban DC. I guess there's a lot of
- 5:48Speaker 9: people would call it these days, but yeah, it's it's
- 5:50Speaker 9: not a closed trip from here, I believe. You go
- 5:53Speaker 9: almost like you're going to Hagersville, Haggerstown, Maryland, and go
- 5:58Speaker 9: up from Morgantown, hits A go south from there. But
- 6:02Speaker 9: it's an interesting game. Headgesville not what they've been in
- 6:05Speaker 9: the last few years. Probably a disappointing season in the
- 6:07Speaker 9: eyes of a lot of the folks up there, but
- 6:10Speaker 9: you know they're they're playing some of the best teams
- 6:12Speaker 9: in the state. They've played the Martinsburgs, they played spring
- 6:14Speaker 9: Mills next week, they played Morgantown last week, and Herbert Hoover.
- 6:17Speaker 9: I know it's a step down in class technically, down
- 6:19Speaker 9: into Class Triple A for them, but that's one of
- 6:21Speaker 9: the best teams in Class Triple A. So hats off
- 6:23Speaker 9: to them for having a pretty stacked schedule. It just
- 6:25Speaker 9: hasn't gone their way for Hoover. The key tonight, can
- 6:28Speaker 9: you keep the momentum going with this long road trip.
- 6:30Speaker 9: It's a team, it's a pretty senior heavy team. These
- 6:33Speaker 9: guys have played a lot of road games, a lot
- 6:34Speaker 9: of road games in the playoffs over the years. Probably
- 6:37Speaker 9: be a similar feel for that tonight. But it's just
- 6:39Speaker 9: a question can you come out and get it done
- 6:41Speaker 9: when the lights turn on and keep that momentum going.
- 6:43Speaker 9: Talking with Joey Fields this week, his big key is
- 6:45Speaker 9: at this time of the year, are you getting better
- 6:46Speaker 9: or are you getting worse? And if you're getting worse,
- 6:48Speaker 9: things aren't going well for you. He wants to keep
- 6:50Speaker 9: getting better. We'll see how they do tonight.
- 6:52Speaker 7: And at this time of years, everybody's thinking about playoffs
- 6:55Speaker 7: right now. Oh yeah, everybody's looking ahead. And of course
- 6:57Speaker 7: obviously you know, you don't want to get people hurt,
- 7:00Speaker 7: and you don't want to get you know, and you
- 7:01Speaker 7: don't want to you know, appear too confident or whatever.
- 7:04Speaker 7: Sure you could see a situation if who if, And
- 7:07Speaker 7: that's a big if. That's why you play the game.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Joey probably wouldn't like to hear me saying this right now,
- 7:11Speaker 7: but if you get ahead enough that you might look
- 7:12Speaker 7: at maybe pulling some players, so you don't get people hurt.
- 7:15Speaker 9: Yeah, I think you've seen that. The last couple of weeks. Actually,
- 7:17Speaker 9: Hoover's ran out to some some pretty lopsided scores, and
- 7:20Speaker 9: you've seen a lot of guys that weren't necessarily getting
- 7:23Speaker 9: as much playing time early in the year, and maybe
- 7:25Speaker 9: some of the closer games getting in there making and
- 7:27Speaker 9: making some plays. One of the things that has really
- 7:30Speaker 9: helped Hoover more than anything this year now, and hats
- 7:33Speaker 9: off to all the coaches and players, they've been fantastic.
- 7:35Speaker 9: This team has been almost oddly healthy throughout the season.
- 7:39Speaker 9: Oddly healthy, yes, well, it just you play this much
- 7:42Speaker 9: football this deep into the season, you expect somebody sure
- 7:45Speaker 9: to take some bumps and some bruises, and there have
- 7:47Speaker 9: been bumps and bruises, but none of these guys have
- 7:48Speaker 9: missed any major time. The kicker at Hoover missed a
- 7:52Speaker 9: couple of games with a thing he had going on,
- 7:53Speaker 9: but that's been about it. So knock on wood for
- 7:56Speaker 9: the Huskies. They've been really healthy this season. You hope
- 7:59Speaker 9: to be healthy this time year, You hope to be
- 8:00Speaker 9: playing your best ball. It seems like that's what they
- 8:02Speaker 9: have going right now. Dave, but this is a long
- 8:04Speaker 9: road trip. They got another long one against Weird next week.
- 8:07Speaker 9: It'll be an interesting test these last couple weeks of
- 8:09Speaker 9: the regular season for Yeah.
- 8:10Speaker 7: Indeed and again, our coverage starts tonight at seven, yes,
- 8:13Speaker 7: seven o'ven o'clock. You and Murphy will be up in
- 8:16Speaker 7: Hedgesville to call the game tonight. I do want to
- 8:17Speaker 7: mention that our thoughts and prayers go out to our
- 8:20Speaker 7: buddy Chris Lawrence. You may be wondering why you haven't
- 8:22Speaker 7: heard Chris on the air this week and why he's
- 8:24Speaker 7: not calling the Hurricane in g W game tonight. Chris
- 8:27Speaker 7: mother passed away earlier this week in his home city
- 8:30Speaker 7: of Virginia. So again, our thoughts and prayers or mister
- 8:32Speaker 7: Lawrence and his family. I know he was Chris, a
- 8:37Speaker 7: big family guy, and his mother had been ill and
- 8:40Speaker 7: she passed away this week. It's why you haven't heard him.
- 8:42Speaker 7: As I said on the morning news, while Jeff is
- 8:44Speaker 7: being called into duty tonight for the Hurricane g W game.
- 8:46Speaker 7: So again, our thoughts and prayers are out to our
- 8:49Speaker 7: good friend Chris Lawrence on the loss of his mother.
- 8:53Speaker 7: The Dave Island showing five dye Live brought to you
- 8:55Speaker 7: apart by your hometown baseball chief, the Charleston dirty Birds.
- 8:57Speaker 7: Listen for more information coming soon, just a couple of
- 9:00Speaker 7: weeks away from the Selango Lung Light the night Over
- 9:03Speaker 7: at the Ballpark. For more, you can visit dirty Birds
- 9:05Speaker 7: baseball dot com. I do want to mention that after
- 9:07Speaker 7: the game, of course, stick around the night for Fred
- 9:09Speaker 7: Pursinger Dave Jack Oi Metro News Game night. All right,
- 9:11Speaker 7: So Hannah Gardner from the Cannaal Charleston new Man's Association
- 9:14Speaker 7: not here today. She and Angie, who kind of pinches
- 9:18Speaker 7: for her from time to time, both had some prior
- 9:21Speaker 7: commitments so they were not able to be here. So
- 9:23Speaker 7: the part of Hannah Gardner will be played by Tom Bragg.
- 9:26Speaker 7: Are you excited about this?
- 9:27Speaker 9: We'll see how it goes. I like dogs. The picture
- 9:29Speaker 9: you sent me man, what a good looking dog, and
- 9:30Speaker 9: I'm looking forward.
- 9:31Speaker 7: To that our dog. This week. We're trying to get
- 9:33Speaker 7: a DoPT that. His name is Felix, and I've got
- 9:36Speaker 7: the pictures always posted on Dave Alan Radio, on Facebook
- 9:39Speaker 7: and at Dave a seventy on X. The artist formerly
- 9:43Speaker 7: known as Twitter. Felix is the dog's name Tommy's a
- 9:46Speaker 7: six year old male, came in as astray. He is newtered.
- 9:51Speaker 7: He is very very kid friendly, Hannah tells me. A
- 9:55Speaker 7: very energetic, very playful, housebroken, very smart. A bit shy
- 10:01Speaker 7: at first, but he will warm up to you. Probably
- 10:03Speaker 7: could use a little bit of training on the leash.
- 10:05Speaker 7: He's a big boy, tom he's about uh, he's about
- 10:08Speaker 7: eighty two pounds. But Felix is a good looking dog.
- 10:10Speaker 9: Oh yeah, we could all probably use a little training
- 10:13Speaker 9: on the leash. We say that to our dog at
- 10:14Speaker 9: home all the time. He's a he's a sweetheart, but
- 10:16Speaker 9: he just needs a little little work on the manners.
- 10:19Speaker 9: So nothing to ding Felix on here. He's a real
- 10:22Speaker 9: good looking dog, kid friendly. He's already been neutered. You
- 10:25Speaker 9: don't have to worry about it. Is he's going to
- 10:26Speaker 9: go be allowed to go to dog parks? Is he
- 10:28Speaker 9: going to be allowed to go to doggy daycare? Things
- 10:30Speaker 9: like that ours ours at home isn't yet. So it's
- 10:32Speaker 9: things things we've got to consider. So it's something to
- 10:36Speaker 9: keep in mind. I love the little mask that he's
- 10:38Speaker 9: almost gotten with the black around his eyes.
- 10:41Speaker 7: They did that at the shelter for Halloween U and
- 10:44Speaker 7: they did a lot of their their their pets like that.
- 10:46Speaker 7: They did a really good job on that though, because
- 10:47Speaker 7: he is a good looking guy. He is indeed again
- 10:50Speaker 7: he's about eighty two pounds. Felix is a six year
- 10:52Speaker 7: old male. Uh, he's ready to go home. He's house broken,
- 10:55Speaker 7: he's neutered, he's ready to go. A couple of notes
- 10:56Speaker 7: from the Humane Association we do want to throw out there.
- 10:59Speaker 7: First of if you follow them on Facebook, they had
- 11:03Speaker 7: to take in in conjunction with the Putnam Animal Shelter,
- 11:07Speaker 7: about nineteen or so parvo dogs. And so with that,
- 11:11Speaker 7: they are in need of things that we don't generally
- 11:15Speaker 7: talk about, Hannah. We know that they are always in
- 11:17Speaker 7: need of food and older blankets and things of that nature.
- 11:21Speaker 7: They also need things like IV lines and catheters, so
- 11:27Speaker 7: generally speaking, things people don't have around. But if you'd
- 11:30Speaker 7: like to go purchase any of those things and drop
- 11:33Speaker 7: them off to the shelter, I'm sure that they would
- 11:35Speaker 7: appreciate that, or just make a cash donation on those things. Again,
- 11:39Speaker 7: they took about nineteen parvo pups in yesterday in conjunction
- 11:43Speaker 7: with the Putnam Animal Shelter. So they're looking for those
- 11:46Speaker 7: things right now. Also, they are always in need of,
- 11:49Speaker 7: as I said, dog food, purina, puppy chow, things of
- 11:52Speaker 7: that nature. So if you can help them out with that,
- 11:55Speaker 7: I'm sure that they would appreciate it. Also, they tell
- 11:57Speaker 7: us that they have a Boo Bash even or we're
- 12:00Speaker 7: over Halloween, We're going to continue this of the month
- 12:02Speaker 7: of November a boo Bash adoption special where adult kennel
- 12:06Speaker 7: dogs six months in older are at no costs and
- 12:11Speaker 7: kats and kittens are fifty percent off. This is going
- 12:13Speaker 7: to end though, on Sunday, so please make note of that.
- 12:17Speaker 7: But again, our dog, our adopt me. Please pedt of
- 12:19Speaker 7: the weeks time just told you Felix. He's a six
- 12:21Speaker 7: year old male. He's neutered, came in as a stray,
- 12:24Speaker 7: very kid friendly, very energetic, very playful, incredibly smart dog.
- 12:28Speaker 7: Handah tells me a bit shy at first, but he'll
- 12:30Speaker 7: get over that. He is house broken. He's a big
- 12:32Speaker 7: old boy, about eighty two pounds. So if you're interested
- 12:35Speaker 7: in Felix, head on over to my Facebook page Dave
- 12:37Speaker 7: Allen Radio or my ex page which is at Dave
- 12:40Speaker 7: A seventy and you can take a look at Felix.
- 12:43Speaker 7: Maybe you and Murphy should go get Felix and take
- 12:45Speaker 7: him on the road to hedges Go that way, you
- 12:46Speaker 7: don't have to talk to each other.
- 12:47Speaker 9: You can just talk about the dog. You know, we
- 12:49Speaker 9: could probably figure that out. Felix is a good dog name,
- 12:51Speaker 9: he said, a good looking guy. We could probably get
- 12:53Speaker 9: rid of him between here and Hedgesville. Although I'm such
- 12:56Speaker 9: a sucker for dogs. If we put him in the car,
- 12:57Speaker 9: he'd probably end up coming home with.
- 12:59Speaker 7: It, indeed will. But all right, Tom, you guys have
- 13:01Speaker 7: a great broadcast tonight up in the Hedgesville almost in
- 13:04Speaker 7: DC tonight. Be safe out there, all right, Tom Bragg again,
- 13:07Speaker 7: he and Matt Murphy will have the call tonight for
- 13:11Speaker 7: Hoover at Hedgesville tonight on ninety six to one kws.
- 13:14Speaker 7: And speaking of ninety six to one kws, our man
- 13:16Speaker 7: Rob Reel wrapped up his walk to Morgantown yesterday and
- 13:20Speaker 7: there's I mean, they had a big fanfare, big party,
- 13:22Speaker 7: big parade for him up there when he got to town.
- 13:24Speaker 7: With that check for about one hundred and seventy two
- 13:26Speaker 7: thousand dollars for WU Children's or hats off to Rob.
- 13:30Speaker 7: He completed his walk from Charleston to Morgantown and again
- 13:34Speaker 7: big fanfare up the children's hospital yesterday. He's resting up
- 13:37Speaker 7: a bit right now, although he was back in the
- 13:39Speaker 7: studio and on the air this morning. I do want
- 13:41Speaker 7: to mention that today is Rob's birthday as well, so
- 13:43Speaker 7: he's celebrating his birthday in a tub of absence salt probably,
- 13:47Speaker 7: But Rob, happy birthday, buddy, and congratulations. We're all proud
- 13:51Speaker 7: of you, you know, for what you did raising or
- 13:53Speaker 7: actually take the listeners, raised the money. He delivered the
- 13:57Speaker 7: check for one hundred and seventy two thousand dollars to
- 14:00Speaker 7: WU Children's Hospital. So Rob, happy birthday, and congratulations on
- 14:04Speaker 7: completing that big feat. Coming up a little bit later
- 14:06Speaker 7: on the show, as a matter of fact, matter of moments,
- 14:08Speaker 7: so we're going to second with Joe Stevens from the
- 14:10Speaker 7: city of Nitro. They got a big Chilian beer festival
- 14:12Speaker 7: going on, you guys. Tom may or may not be
- 14:14Speaker 7: back in time for that tomorrow.
- 14:17Speaker 9: Maybe I think Matt's got a got a wedding. I'm
- 14:19Speaker 9: coaching some kids soccer tomorrow. We got a hustle, so
- 14:22Speaker 9: you got to get back, all right. But Joe's going
- 14:24Speaker 9: to talk to us about that.
- 14:25Speaker 7: Also, Mark Carter's here, he's a candidate for our House

- 18:25Speaker 4: Now, Joe, good morning, Good morning, Dave Ay, before we
- 18:30Speaker 4: talk a little bit about chili, what's wrong with our boys? Oh?
- 18:34Speaker 7: The the Cowboys? How much time you got?
- 18:38Speaker 8: Uh?

- 18:44Speaker 2: You know?
- 18:44Speaker 15: I was going to put a ad out here for

- 18:49Speaker 7: Well, Duran Bland comes back this week and the Cowboys
- 18:52Speaker 7: are at Atlanta, and uh, we'll see. You know, Bland
- 18:55Speaker 7: was the uh uh was the leading interceptor last year
- 18:58Speaker 7: in the league, but do believe and kind of came
- 19:00Speaker 7: out of nowhere with that and he's back this week.
- 19:02Speaker 7: I don't know about Michael Parsons yet, but we got
- 19:05Speaker 7: a tough one in Atlanta this week. I want to
- 19:07Speaker 7: ask you though about before we talk Chilean beer, I
- 19:10Speaker 7: want to talk about baseball, because I know you're a
- 19:12Speaker 7: big baseball guy. What'd you think about the Yankees and
- 19:14Speaker 7: the Dodgers the other night?
- 19:16Speaker 4: I loved every single minute of it. Well, my birth
- 19:19Speaker 4: certificate growing up in Baltimore, there was a provision in
- 19:23Speaker 4: one every birth certificate that said val shall never root
- 19:27Speaker 4: for the New York Yankees or Washington Redskins, and they
- 19:31Speaker 4: hold true to that age.
- 19:34Speaker 15: I really do. Let's go Dodgers. Ha. You gotta feel
- 19:38Speaker 15: good for Freddie Friedman.
- 19:39Speaker 2: You do.
- 19:40Speaker 7: Indeed, I have to say you got it. Freddy just
- 19:42Speaker 7: went lights out during that series. And for all the
- 19:45Speaker 7: people you mentioned our combined love of the Dallas Cowboys,
- 19:48Speaker 7: you and I. For all the people that sent me
- 19:50Speaker 7: that meme about Aaron Judge being Baseball's answer to Dak Prescott,
- 19:54Speaker 7: I really appreciate that. I really really do, because he
- 19:57Speaker 7: had a He was like Dak Prescott in the playoffs.
- 20:00Speaker 7: Was mister Judge during the World Series. But enough about sports.
- 20:03Speaker 7: I want to move on to tomorrow. Over a to
- 20:05Speaker 7: Nitro Living Park. It's the annual Wagging Tails and Nitro
- 20:09Speaker 7: Ales event. It's a beer fast chili cookoff. Proceeds will
- 20:12Speaker 7: help out our area animal rescue programs. And if you're
- 20:15Speaker 7: a chili head, Joe, this is the real deal Tomorrow
- 20:19Speaker 7: and Nitro.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Without a doubt, and the majority of the cooks that
- 20:25Speaker 4: will be participating in Tomorrow's cookoff, which is occurring on
- 20:28Speaker 4: Second Avenue right there at Living Memorial Park. The majority
- 20:32Speaker 4: of the cooks have participated in the World Championships in
- 20:36Speaker 4: years past, and the winners in the three categories to
- 20:40Speaker 4: Home Style traditional red and green chili verdie all will
- 20:45Speaker 4: represent the cookoff at the twenty twenty five World Championships
- 20:49Speaker 4: that will be held in Myrtle Beach. So if you
- 20:53Speaker 4: want some really really good chili, come on out to
- 20:56Speaker 4: Nitro on Saturday, right there on second Avenue of it
- 21:00Speaker 4: up for you.
- 21:01Speaker 7: And this is as I said, I called it the
- 21:02Speaker 7: real deal for chili folks, because this is a nationally
- 21:06Speaker 7: sanctioned event, right.
- 21:08Speaker 10: Uh.
- 21:09Speaker 4: The International Chili Society yes that it is a tanctioned event,
- 21:13Speaker 4: which means the winners can now proceed to the World Championships.
- 21:18Speaker 4: On one charity that we don't want to fail to
- 21:23Speaker 4: mention is that when you when you go and vote
- 21:26Speaker 4: for People's Choice, which is up to the public that
- 21:30Speaker 4: is attending the event, you buy dog bones from you
- 21:35Speaker 4: buy a bag of dog bones, and you vote with
- 21:37Speaker 4: the dog bones, and you purchase those dog bones from
- 21:39Speaker 4: the great folks at Hospice. And every cent that you
- 21:43Speaker 4: that you spend on People's Choice dog bones goes straight
- 21:48Speaker 4: to Hospice. Nothing goes to the operation of the Chili
- 21:52Speaker 4: cook Golf or anything. All the proceeds going straight to Hospice.
- 21:55Speaker 7: And the weather is going to be great, although when
- 21:58Speaker 7: you're talking chili and beer in the fall, you may
- 22:00Speaker 7: want it to be a little bit cooler. But the
- 22:02Speaker 7: rain that we've got today is going to move out
- 22:04Speaker 7: of here later this afternoon, and by tomorrow it's just
- 22:06Speaker 7: going to be a picture perfect weather. It could stand
- 22:08Speaker 7: to be a little bit cooler just for the whole
- 22:10Speaker 7: atmosphere of the thing, but overall, you can't complain about it, Joe.
- 22:14Speaker 4: When it's not raining and you're having an outdoor event,
- 22:19Speaker 4: you know, you take what you get and we'll be
- 22:22Speaker 4: enjoying every second of it. The big red tap truck
- 22:26Speaker 4: will be on hand, the same operation we had last year.
- 22:30Speaker 4: We have a lot of West Virginia craft beers and
- 22:34Speaker 4: some nationally brewed beers available. We have some food trucks.
- 22:40Speaker 4: Just it's a fun time, Dave. I know you won't
- 22:43Speaker 4: be able to be with us this year, but you've
- 22:46Speaker 4: been here a couple of times and you've seen it's
- 22:48Speaker 4: just a lot of fun, a lot of folks coming around. Hey,
- 22:51Speaker 4: the Putnam County, in fact, that Putnam County Animal Shelter
- 22:54Speaker 4: will be on hand and they are bringing a few animals,
- 22:57Speaker 4: dogs and cats that you can adopt right on the spot,
- 23:01Speaker 4: so that'd be pretty cool too.
- 23:02Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly, And as Joe mentioned, I've had a chance
- 23:06Speaker 7: with end this in the past. Last year I was asked,
- 23:08Speaker 7: I was very honored to be asked to serve as
- 23:09Speaker 7: a judge for this thing. I am going to have
- 23:11Speaker 7: to miss it this year. I'm also going to have
- 23:13Speaker 7: to miss the annual Mac and Cheese Cookoff, which is
- 23:15Speaker 7: going on over at Capitol Market tomorrow. I'll be out
- 23:18Speaker 7: of I'll actually be out of state this weekend. I
- 23:21Speaker 7: hate to miss not one, but two great food events
- 23:24Speaker 7: because they're both going on tomorrow and by the timing
- 23:26Speaker 7: of this thing, and a lot of people did this
- 23:28Speaker 7: last year. I was over at Capitol Market for the
- 23:30Speaker 7: Mac and Cheese Festival and then jumped in the vehicle
- 23:32Speaker 7: and drove to Nitro. I saw a lot of the
- 23:34Speaker 7: same people at both. So bottom line is, if you're
- 23:37Speaker 7: a foodie, this is a great weekend here for the Kanaal.
- 23:40Speaker 15: Valley, no doubt about it.
- 23:43Speaker 4: And then when's the last time you've seen a weekend
- 23:46Speaker 4: go by in the Canal Valley from Barbersville to Charleston.
- 23:52Speaker 4: That something isn't going on. And if you can't find
- 23:55Speaker 4: something going on you're not looking.
- 23:57Speaker 7: That's on you. If you can't find anything to do,
- 23:59Speaker 7: that is on you. Dave Aland showing five any line

- 24:46Speaker 4: the hospice sets the price on net and it's very minimal,
- 24:49Speaker 4: very very very minimal. And you'll get uh and you'll

- 25:08Speaker 4: You will get your wristband and you will get your ticket,
- 25:11Speaker 4: and then you can.
- 25:14Speaker 15: The legislation.
- 25:15Speaker 4: You know, you and I we sometimes knock on the
- 25:19Speaker 4: proverbial what are you thinking about door with the state legislature.
- 25:24Speaker 4: But a couple of years ago they came up with
- 25:25Speaker 4: a one day festival license. And it's so easy to
- 25:29Speaker 4: work with the beverage control folks for a one day license,
- 25:33Speaker 4: and and they make sure everything is run accordingly and
- 25:37Speaker 4: we can walk around and enjoy ourselves with an adult
- 25:39Speaker 4: beverage or we might have a liminat or too for
- 25:42Speaker 4: you too.
- 25:42Speaker 7: A lot of different things there, even if you're not
- 25:44Speaker 7: into chili or beer. There's a lot of different things available,
- 25:46Speaker 7: different types of food. And there's all kinds of other
- 25:48Speaker 7: vendors there too. I mean there's last year, That's what
- 25:50Speaker 7: I was kind of blown away by was the number
- 25:52Speaker 7: of other vendors that were there, just all kinds of
- 25:54Speaker 7: cool stuff there.
- 25:57Speaker 4: We've got quite a few craft vendors that will be here,
- 26:00Speaker 4: and we have a lot of information vendors that are
- 26:04Speaker 4: on hand, and UH will be giving out information. One
- 26:08Speaker 4: of the one of the groups is the Core Group,
- 26:11Speaker 4: which works with transplant donations uh uh uh and and
- 26:17Speaker 4: that sort of thing. And but also, you know, something
- 26:21Speaker 4: like this can't go without sponsors, and we've got just
- 26:24Speaker 4: a great group of sponsors. We've got tutors and Geno's
- 26:28Speaker 4: are are stepping up. Uh. Cook's Crematorium, Pet Crematorium will
- 26:33Speaker 4: be helping out lineex uh of Nitro. They're helping out

- 26:42Speaker 4: City of Nitro, C four impressed.
- 26:45Speaker 6: Uh.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Just a lot of folks really making sure. And if

- 27:01Speaker 7: All right, sounds like a good time. What time does
- 27:02Speaker 7: everything get underway tomorrow, Joe.
- 27:05Speaker 4: Well, we'll be setting up bright and early, or dark
- 27:09Speaker 4: and early as it may be, around six thirty seven o'clock.
- 27:11Speaker 4: But things will be getting underway about ten thirty eleven o'clock.
- 27:17Speaker 4: They'll be cooking and setting up. But then Randy Gammern,

- 27:31Speaker 4: But right around ten thirty eleven o'clock we'll be firing

- 27:35Speaker 15: As it may be.
- 27:36Speaker 7: All right, Joe, I hate, I regret that I'm going

- 27:40Speaker 7: there next year hopefully. Good luck with everything tomorrow. Man,
- 27:42Speaker 7: We'll be in touch. Thanks a lot, Dave.

- 31:37Speaker 7: Mark Carter. He is a candidate for House in District
- 31:39Speaker 7: fifty seven on the Republican side. He George es Now
- 31:41Speaker 7: in the Palm Maarstore studio. Mark, good morning, welcome to
- 31:43Speaker 7: the show.
- 31:44Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave, and thank you very much for inviting
- 31:47Speaker 5: me back in.
- 31:48Speaker 7: Let's talk about the district. Explain the district to US.
- 31:50Speaker 7: District fifty seven.
- 31:51Speaker 5: Well, District fifty seven is an urban district. It's pretty
- 31:54Speaker 5: unusual for our state. It is the residential area of
- 31:58Speaker 5: Charleston south of the River of courdor g at South Charleston.
- 32:02Speaker 5: It's Dunbar.
- 32:04Speaker 7: It is.
- 32:05Speaker 5: It's a very diverse district, and I mean that in
- 32:08Speaker 5: all senses of the word. We have a good deal
- 32:11Speaker 5: of diversity with regard to economic status. We have a
- 32:14Speaker 5: good deal of diversity with regard to the safety in
- 32:17Speaker 5: the communities and those are some of the things I'm
- 32:20Speaker 5: hearing a lot about when I go door knocking, Dave,
- 32:23Speaker 5: I'm hearing about the struggle to pay bills, given inflation
- 32:31Speaker 5: and given the pay rates in our state. We're forty
- 32:36Speaker 5: ninth in the nation in terms of wage scales. People
- 32:39Speaker 5: are frustrated and they're some of the people are very scared,
- 32:43Speaker 5: and that is that's a tremendous concern to me. I'm
- 32:46Speaker 5: also hearing a lot about crime, and that's of tremendous
- 32:49Speaker 5: concern to me as well, because one of the things
- 32:52Speaker 5: that I've seen out in my district is everybody's got
- 32:55Speaker 5: a ring doorbell. Everybody's going to ring doorbell today. And
- 32:59Speaker 5: some of the folks who have answered their doors have
- 33:01Speaker 5: told me why. The reason why is people are afraid
- 33:04Speaker 5: to open up their door. People are afraid because of
- 33:08Speaker 5: the rates of crime in their community, the number of
- 33:10Speaker 5: times that their vehicles have been stolen from there's unease,
- 33:15Speaker 5: and so they want to talk to me about that.
- 33:17Speaker 5: I want to talk about that with them too. I
- 33:19Speaker 5: want to talk about solutions.
- 33:21Speaker 7: If you are elected to the House, what can you
- 33:24Speaker 7: do about the crime issues in West Virginia.
- 33:26Speaker 5: Well, there's a lot that we can do about the
- 33:28Speaker 5: crime issues. Number one. I want to mention this because
- 33:31Speaker 5: it's such a pervasive problem, and I've spoken with the
- 33:34Speaker 5: mayor of Dunbar about it, who had a tremendous amount
- 33:36Speaker 5: of success when he started raising buildings that were abandoned
- 33:41Speaker 5: and were being used by squatters who were engaged in
- 33:45Speaker 5: crime to either use as a residence or to fence
- 33:49Speaker 5: stolen property. When he raised several buildings in his hometown there,
- 33:56Speaker 5: the crime rate went down. I think we need to
- 33:58Speaker 5: do more of that. They heard our property value and
- 34:01Speaker 5: they provide shelter for criminals. But more importantly with regard
- 34:05Speaker 5: to crime, we have to support our law enforcement community.
- 34:08Speaker 5: Our law enforcement community is asked to do a lot
- 34:11Speaker 5: with very little resources. The amount of resources they need
- 34:16Speaker 5: to keep themselves safe as well as to appropriately do
- 34:20Speaker 5: their job is a tremendous expense, and they have to
- 34:25Speaker 5: be supported with those basic conventional policing tools that have
- 34:30Speaker 5: worked for hundreds of years now in our country, and
- 34:34Speaker 5: we need to We need to make sure that we're
- 34:36Speaker 5: supporting them and not diverting the money to other types
- 34:40Speaker 5: of things that don't work. And we've done too much
- 34:43Speaker 5: of that.
- 34:44Speaker 7: Give us, Give you men.
- 34:44Speaker 5: Examples of those things, well, one of them is a
- 34:47Speaker 5: crisis intervention teams. I mean I wrote about this on
- 34:50Speaker 5: my campaign Facebook page as well as my own Facebook page,
- 34:54Speaker 5: and it became an issue to me because I recall
- 34:57Speaker 5: a text asking my opponent on your show, oh earlier
- 35:00Speaker 5: this week, do you defund the police? And I have
- 35:04Speaker 5: no idea whether he supports defund the police or not.
- 35:08Speaker 5: Defund the police, of course, as a slogan which became
- 35:11Speaker 5: a movement which was popular in the wake of the
- 35:14Speaker 5: George Floyd murders, and it was designed to divert money
- 35:19Speaker 5: from police budgets into the provision of social services. Now,
- 35:24Speaker 5: Senator Kamala Harris was a big fan of it, and
- 35:27Speaker 5: she congratulated Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti for slashing the police
- 35:32Speaker 5: budget by one hundred and fifty million dollars and putting
- 35:35Speaker 5: it into social services. What we've seen is the US
- 35:37Speaker 5: Department of Justice give grants to cities across our nation
- 35:43Speaker 5: in order to support and establish crisis intervention teams. But
- 35:47Speaker 5: I was struck by the fact that the US Department
- 35:50Speaker 5: of Justice has itself concluded they're not effective. They don't
- 35:54Speaker 5: reduce the amount of lethality or deaths in police apprehensions.
- 36:00Speaker 5: The Journal of the Academy of Psychiatry and the Law
- 36:05Speaker 5: has made the similar conclusion. So I think what we
- 36:09Speaker 5: need to do is ensure that the tools police officers
- 36:13Speaker 5: need are actually being funded for them, and not to
- 36:19Speaker 5: divert money away from police budgets for social programs that
- 36:25Speaker 5: are not helping them.
- 36:27Speaker 7: Talking to Mark Carter again, who's Republican running for a
- 36:29Speaker 7: house in District fifty seven, give us the bio on
- 36:31Speaker 7: Mark Carter who?
- 36:32Speaker 5: Mark Carter is a lawyer. Primarily, Mark Carter is a Christian,
- 36:36Speaker 5: a father, and a husband. I've been married for a
- 36:39Speaker 5: long time to a wonderful woman, Jane Carter. I was
- 36:43Speaker 5: recently and had a reception where I was endorsed by
- 36:46Speaker 5: Senator Capitol and introduced by her, and she spent more
- 36:50Speaker 5: time talking about Jane than she did about me, inappropriately,
- 36:53Speaker 5: So I can relate to that.
- 36:56Speaker 7: With my life, I can relate I have.
- 36:59Speaker 5: I've practice law for thirty eight years, and I've enjoyed
- 37:02Speaker 5: practicing law, but I've also been involved in public service
- 37:06Speaker 5: for a long time. Dave, it was a topic on
- 37:10Speaker 5: your interview with my opponent, public service and devotion to
- 37:13Speaker 5: public service. I started public service in this state in
- 37:16Speaker 5: nineteen eighty four. I think my opponent was probably five
- 37:20Speaker 5: or six at the time, and so my well, actually
- 37:25Speaker 5: I don't know if he was even born yet at
- 37:26Speaker 5: that time. But I started working for the Attorney General's
- 37:29Speaker 5: office in nineteen eighty four, and I just fell in
- 37:33Speaker 5: love with public service. I fell in love with West Virginia.
- 37:36Speaker 5: I've served as the impartial, neutral arbiter, a mediator, and
- 37:43Speaker 5: judge for our United States government, treating all of our
- 37:46Speaker 5: federal employees two point two million federal employees for two
- 37:49Speaker 5: different presidents, President Bush and President Trump, serving in our
- 37:54Speaker 5: nation's capital and throughout the United States. I really am
- 37:58Speaker 5: grateful for those opportunities to engage in public service, and
- 38:02Speaker 5: I wish to continue to do that.
- 38:04Speaker 7: With all of the background that you have, though in
- 38:07Speaker 7: doing these different things, why do you want to serve
- 38:10Speaker 7: in the legislature?
- 38:12Speaker 5: Because of the need is great. The need is great
- 38:14Speaker 5: in our state. We are forty ninth in wages, and
- 38:20Speaker 5: I think there's a natural relationship. If you're forty ninth
- 38:23Speaker 5: in wages, you're going to be forty ninth in education.
- 38:26Speaker 5: You're going to be forty ninth. When it comes to
- 38:28Speaker 5: drug abuse and substance abuse, and child abuse and spousal abuse,
- 38:36Speaker 5: we simply are not being paid what we're worth in
- 38:38Speaker 5: this state. I had a discussion with one of my
- 38:42Speaker 5: endorsers and one of my donors who said, why would
- 38:46Speaker 5: you want to do this instead of serving in the
- 38:48Speaker 5: nation's capital in your field of expertise, And I said,
- 38:52Speaker 5: because I think I could help a lot of people
- 38:55Speaker 5: in Washington, but I think I can help more people
- 38:57Speaker 5: I care about in the state House, and that's why
- 39:00Speaker 5: I'm doing it.
- 39:01Speaker 7: Talking again with Mark Carter, do you have a website
- 39:04Speaker 7: or social media that you like to put out there?
- 39:07Speaker 5: The the best source is my social media, which is
- 39:10Speaker 5: Mark Carter for WV on Facebook that I update on
- 39:14Speaker 5: an almost daily basis. I do also have a website,
- 39:17Speaker 5: Mark Carter for WV dot com. But you can get
- 39:22Speaker 5: my phone number on either one of them and you
- 39:25Speaker 5: can give me a call if you have a question
- 39:27Speaker 5: or something you want to discuss. I'm going to be
- 39:30Speaker 5: out on the street Friday and Saturday. Well today's Friday,
- 39:34Speaker 5: Saturday and Saturday, so you can see these candidates in
- 39:36Speaker 5: here all the time, and we're sort of bleared eye.
- 39:38Speaker 5: It all kind of runs together, they do. But I'll
- 39:41Speaker 5: be out on the street this weekend. I'll be out
- 39:43Speaker 5: on the roads waving at you stop by. I'm happy
- 39:46Speaker 5: to speak to anybody, all right, Give me the final thirty.
- 39:49Speaker 5: Why should someone vote for Mark Carter for a house
- 39:51Speaker 5: in District fifty seven? Somebody should vote for me if
- 39:54Speaker 5: they care about our state. An issue has been made
- 39:58Speaker 5: with regard to me when opponent went negative on me
- 40:02Speaker 5: earlier this week and said, look at Mark Carter, he's
- 40:05Speaker 5: look at he's owned by special interests. I want folks
- 40:08Speaker 5: to look at who's endorsing the two candidates. My endorsers
- 40:13Speaker 5: are job creators, uniformly, job creators, hospitals, doctors, realtors, homebuilders,
- 40:21Speaker 5: the people who put jobs in place. My opponent is
- 40:25Speaker 5: endorsed by many folks as well, and twelve of them
- 40:29Speaker 5: are labor unions, and one of them is the trial
- 40:32Speaker 5: lawyers bar I My father was a member of the
- 40:37Speaker 5: International Association of Machinists, bargain for them. I grew up
- 40:41Speaker 5: in a union house. His father was a president of
- 40:43Speaker 5: his local United Mine Workers. I know what a union
- 40:48Speaker 5: could do. I have lived on strike relief. I know
- 40:51Speaker 5: exactly what it's like. And of all the things a
- 40:54Speaker 5: union can do for folks, and there are many, one
- 40:57Speaker 5: of the things they can't do is bring in new jobs.
- 41:00Speaker 5: I've never seen a union create new jobs. I want
- 41:06Speaker 5: our folks to have a better standard of living, a
- 41:08Speaker 5: better job, of more choices. I want their children to
- 41:12Speaker 5: be able to stay here and their families to stay together.
- 41:16Speaker 5: That's the difference I bring in this campaign.
- 41:18Speaker 7: All right, we wish you the best of luck on Tuesday,
- 41:21Speaker 7: and well christ you have two days of early voting
- 41:23Speaker 7: and Tuesday as well on election day, Mark Carter, I
- 41:25Speaker 7: appreciate you being here, man, thanks a lot, Thank you

- 44:34Speaker 7: Good morning, Sarah, Welcome to the show.
- 44:36Speaker 19: Good morning, Dave. How are you doing this morning?
- 44:37Speaker 7: I'm doing fine. You had a text waiting on you
- 44:40Speaker 7: as soon as you got here this morning. I have
- 44:41Speaker 7: no idea what this means, all right, So I'm gonna
- 44:43Speaker 7: hit you with the text. It says, did you know
- 44:46Speaker 7: that the Jersey Giant is the largest rooster breed. It's
- 44:49Speaker 7: apparently become a trend for people in West Virginia to
- 44:51Speaker 7: put giant replicas in their yard. Do you have one
- 44:54Speaker 7: in your yard?
- 44:55Speaker 5: Senator Tar?
- 44:57Speaker 19: You know I do not have one of our yard.
- 44:58Speaker 19: I'll tell you what I do have those with it
- 45:00Speaker 19: being Halloween. Was just talking to Abou about this. I
- 45:02Speaker 19: got some dragons. They call my house up here the
- 45:04Speaker 19: house of dragons I have.
- 45:06Speaker 7: I got this random to I have no idea. Maybe
- 45:08Speaker 7: you it's an inside joke that I didn't get, but
- 45:10Speaker 7: I don't. I don't know what that means. But I
- 45:12Speaker 7: told I said, Okay, I know.
- 45:14Speaker 19: Who that joke came from. I know exactly who that
- 45:16Speaker 19: joke came from.
- 45:17Speaker 7: All Right, Senator tar what do I have you on
- 45:19Speaker 7: the show? Normally we talk about budgets, taxes, things of
- 45:22Speaker 7: that nature, but this morning I wanted to talk about
- 45:24Speaker 7: Amendment one, and this has to do with physician assisted suicides.
- 45:27Speaker 7: You are in favor of this amendment that voters are
- 45:31Speaker 7: looking at. Explain what exactly the amendment says and why
- 45:35Speaker 7: are you are so interested in seeing this past?
- 45:38Speaker 19: You know, I'm I'm inisted in seeing this past because
- 45:42Speaker 19: if you go back into the nineties, kind of this
- 45:43Speaker 19: effort really started around the nineties with Jack Vorkin if
- 45:47Speaker 19: you remember him, Doctor Death, and then later on after him,
- 45:51Speaker 19: you started getting discussions around death panels, with Obama and
- 45:55Speaker 19: some of those people. And this what's grown from that
- 45:58Speaker 19: is this assisted suicide lobby effort across the country. So
- 46:02Speaker 19: about ten states have legalized assisted suicide. There's efforts to
- 46:07Speaker 19: legalize it in about twenty three states right now. And
- 46:10Speaker 19: so there's some big money and strong lobby behind an
- 46:13Speaker 19: industry of killing people. And you know, they try to
- 46:20Speaker 19: disguise it with very attractive terms like death with dignity
- 46:25Speaker 19: and things like that, and maybe that's how it starts,
- 46:27Speaker 19: but we know in states that have had it for
- 46:29Speaker 19: a while, it turns into a profit center, and it
- 46:32Speaker 19: turns into a way for insurance companies to be able
- 46:35Speaker 19: to save money when instead of going on to why
- 46:38Speaker 19: not being an expensive treatment for cancer or expensive therapies
- 46:41Speaker 19: for depression, that they deny those treatments and then try
- 46:45Speaker 19: and offer you an option which is a cheaper option
- 46:48Speaker 19: to get you off their.
- 46:49Speaker 15: Books, and that's assisted suicide.
- 46:51Speaker 19: And so what this what this amendment does is it
- 46:55Speaker 19: prohibits government from establishing the ability to do that industry
- 47:00Speaker 19: in West Virginia for any future legislature or court. And
- 47:04Speaker 19: so that's that's what's a bounce that does one thing
- 47:06Speaker 19: and one thing along it would say that any future
- 47:08Speaker 19: legislature cannot go in and legalize assisted suicide in West Virginia.
- 47:15Speaker 7: So, I mean, the argument has been, well, it's already
- 47:18Speaker 7: illegal in West Virginia. So what I'm hearing you say
- 47:21Speaker 7: from your perspective, Senator, is is that this would say
- 47:24Speaker 7: that any future legislators cannot come in and basically reverse
- 47:30Speaker 7: the law of it's on the books. Is that a
- 47:31Speaker 7: good way to put it.
- 47:32Speaker 19: That's a good way to put it, you know. So
- 47:34Speaker 19: one of the things that the legislators are very familiar
- 47:37Speaker 19: with is that, you know, lobby efforts are well funded
- 47:42Speaker 19: in a lot of times, and they're very effective. And
- 47:45Speaker 19: that's as you when you start seeing big money get
- 47:47Speaker 19: behind lobby efforts and stay persistent with it, eventually it
- 47:52Speaker 19: starts to happen and you get you get down some
- 47:54Speaker 19: of these slopes sometimes the things that can be very dangerous,
- 47:58Speaker 19: and that's what we're seeing come across the kind you're
- 48:00Speaker 19: now starting with the West coast, in places like Oregon,
- 48:03Speaker 19: in California where it's been on the books for a while.
- 48:08Speaker 19: And I'll give you an example. One of the stories
- 48:10Speaker 19: really had is that even in California got a little
- 48:12Speaker 19: out of hand that if you were going to have
- 48:16Speaker 19: an a very expensive medical treatment, you're near end of life.
- 48:20Speaker 19: Insurance company was denying it and in the same denial
- 48:23Speaker 19: letter giving you a communication. But here's you an option
- 48:25Speaker 19: you can we can send you these this poison cocktail
- 48:28Speaker 19: and you can end your life if you so choose,
- 48:31Speaker 19: but we're denying the treatment. Well, California because of that,
- 48:35Speaker 19: even California came back and said, wait a minute, you
- 48:37Speaker 19: can't give this communication in this in the same communication.
- 48:40Speaker 19: So now what it does. They'll send you a letter
- 48:42Speaker 19: for the denial and then give you a phone call
- 48:44Speaker 19: and let you know they can send you a poison cocktail.
- 48:48Speaker 19: And so people are there's there's a financial gain for that.
- 48:53Speaker 19: Insurance come to do that. They get an expensive person
- 48:55Speaker 19: off their books. And so in West Virginia, we we
- 49:00Speaker 19: value life, and you know West Virginia's for life is
- 49:02Speaker 19: for this amendment as well, and we value so much
- 49:07Speaker 19: that that we don't want somebody to because of the
- 49:11Speaker 19: profit and bottom line on their book, that they want
- 49:14Speaker 19: to foster that opinion that you are no longer of
- 49:19Speaker 19: value to society and that because you're such a burden.
- 49:22Speaker 19: Let's take you off our books. That's what's happening with
- 49:26Speaker 19: this industry, and it's it's it's that way now. That
- 49:29Speaker 19: is that way now legal in the country. In some
- 49:32Speaker 19: states it's not a legal it's not legal Wants Virginia.
- 49:36Speaker 19: And there's when you have it in your constitution as
- 49:40Speaker 19: a barrier for establishing that industry. Here, it's a much
- 49:43Speaker 19: higher bar to be able to get that industry into
- 49:46Speaker 19: West Virginia for having done that. So if that's why,
- 49:49Speaker 19: it's why we need the constitutional amendment.
- 49:50Speaker 7: All right, Senator, I know you're really busy and I'm
- 49:53Speaker 7: starting to run out of time here. I appreciate you
- 49:55Speaker 7: coming on the show and we'll talk against so man,
- 49:57Speaker 7: thanks a lot, well, thanks for having me on Talks
- 49:59Speaker 7: a dance chair Eric tar Is seven minutes now away
- 50:02Speaker 7: from ten. I got a bunch of texts to get to,
- 50:05Speaker 7: going back to Mark Carter Texas. Mark Carter is right.
- 50:08Speaker 7: Police work is not social work, says a text. Texas says,
- 50:12Speaker 7: Mark Carter seems like the guy to actually fix things
- 50:14Speaker 7: in Charleston. He can actually get things done that others
- 50:17Speaker 7: simply can't because of the makeup of the house. He
- 50:18Speaker 7: would definitely be an effective advocate for the community. Text
- 50:22Speaker 7: says he talks about talking about Mark Carter talks about
- 50:25Speaker 7: crime and law enforcement, but counties have to pay state
- 50:28Speaker 7: for inmates. Now he cracked down on the counties that
- 50:31Speaker 7: don't pay for inmates, one of which is the speaker
- 50:33Speaker 7: of the Houses County. All could save taxpayers a bunch
- 50:38Speaker 7: of money, says the Texture. Talking about getting the crime
- 50:41Speaker 7: rates down, says a textra In addition to raising property,
- 50:43Speaker 7: Charleston could get theirs down if they crack down on
- 50:45Speaker 7: drug addict bombs on every corner of every street. They
- 50:48Speaker 7: sleep anywhere. Not to mention, you can't walk in any
- 50:51Speaker 7: store without being harassed. Charleston looks like Los Angeles. It
- 50:54Speaker 7: is a disgrace. Tex says, Why are so many that
- 50:58Speaker 7: are running have West Virginia seems to be the most
- 51:00Speaker 7: common tagline of many tech says Mark Carter is an
- 51:05Speaker 7: outstanding candidate with valuable government experience. He will serve the
- 51:09Speaker 7: district well. Day've asked Mark, why our utilities have gone
- 51:12Speaker 7: up one hundred and fifty percent of Republicans have taken
- 51:14Speaker 7: over and we are in energy state that's paying some
- 51:17Speaker 7: of the highest utility rates in the country. What does
- 51:21Speaker 7: Mark Carter believe he can do to make our legislator
- 51:23Speaker 7: legislature more efficient and more conservative. Tex says, omg, I'm
- 51:28Speaker 7: so shocked that Eric double talk tar wants to use
- 51:31Speaker 7: the government to control the decisions people have over their bodies. Shocked,
- 51:34Speaker 7: I tell you, Tex says. The last guest said, people
- 51:37Speaker 7: are scared. There's no more manipulative voter than a scared voter.
- 51:40Speaker 7: And Republicans know this. All right, got to start to
- 51:43Speaker 7: wrap it up. Do you want to mention Monday's show,
- 51:46Speaker 7: We will have Mayor good One here. It's the first
- 51:48Speaker 7: Monday of the month and she's generally speaking on with
- 51:50Speaker 7: us the first Monday of the month. So if you've
- 51:51Speaker 7: got questions or comments about Charleston, get him in with
- 51:54Speaker 7: the mayor on Monday. Also, that's the second part of
- 51:57Speaker 7: the show. First two segments of the show. I'm going
- 51:59Speaker 7: to have with me in studio two candidates for Knawk
- 52:02Speaker 7: County Commission, the Democrat Natalie Tenant and the Republican Chris Walters.
- 52:05Speaker 7: They're gonna sit down with me and it's just going
- 52:07Speaker 7: to be a discussion, not a debate. We're just going
- 52:09Speaker 7: to talk about different things. You're welcome to text me
- 52:12Speaker 7: questions for them as long as they are jermainsa county
