Over 2,200 On MidWest Audiology Waiting List
Over 2,200 people across Clare and Limerick are currently languishing on audiology waiting lists. It comes as the national deaf and hard of hearing charity Chime has called for regular screening for over 50s to prevent cognitive decline. According to the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing only one in five adults who report poor hearing have a hearing aid. Ennis Fianna Fáil Councillor and HSE Regional Health Forum MidWest member Antoinette Baker Bashua says more resources are urgently needed to tackle the backlog.
