- 0:03hundred of the Zone on this Thursday afternoon. My name
- 0:06is Craig Way, glad to have you with us, alongside
- 0:08the producer Cameron d.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Park of the d On. The birth certificate.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Stands for Dallas, as in the favorite NFL team of
- 0:16his that he refuses to watch because he is disgusted.
- 0:19Maybe that's what the d Stands were disgusted right now,
- 0:22you're disgusted by the Cowboys.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Is that the deal? Disgusted by Jerry Jones.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Actually, I'm delighted in Jerry Jones' comments because he continues
- 0:30to just dig himself into a deeper rowl. I haven't
- 0:33seen one person even try and defend Jerry Jones's comments.
- 0:38Usually when stuff like this happens, you have like you know,
- 0:41you get two Yang side of it, right, it's.
- 0:44Speaker 1: All it's all anti Jerry, all anti Ja.
- 0:48Speaker 2: So the Devil Stands were delighted because you're delighted that
- 0:51Jerry's having to squirm a bit.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Okay, also might stand for the Dogs because the Dogs
- 0:57are coming into Austin Saturday, and we just found out
- 0:59are college Game Day Picker is two time Master champions
- 1:03Guy Scheffer.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Excited for that.
- 1:05Speaker 2: The number one ranked golfer in the world to do
- 1:08the picking, which will include the number one college football
- 1:12team in the nation as part of the choices. Obviously,
- 1:15for those of you who are unfamiliar with that dynamic,
- 1:19when the ESPN College Game Day crew is on site,
- 1:22they have of course, you know, they're they're guys who
- 1:26are Rhees Davis.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Although he doesn't pick no, he doesn't pick no.
- 1:31Speaker 2: He does like an underdog thing or whatever, but he
- 1:33does kind of pick yeah. And then and then obviously, uh,
- 1:38there's Desmond Howard, and there's Pat mcavie, and there's Lee
- 1:41Corso and Kirk Kerbstreet. But since Kirk Kerbstreet is working
- 1:46the telecast with Chris Fowler, he doesn't actually pick the
- 1:49game that he's working so to prevent any appearance of
- 1:55impropriety or anything like that, so he doesn't make that
- 1:59he doesn't make us election on the game at hand
- 2:01that he's working, but he'll pick the other games as well,
- 2:04so they're all doing that, and then they have a
- 2:05guest picker, a guest selector, and it's usually someone affiliated
- 2:11with in some way, shape or form, most notably and
- 2:14most of the time because are in alumnus.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Not always, but most of the time.
- 2:19Speaker 2: And in this case it's going to be Scotti Scheffler
- 2:23doing the picking there, So that'll be fun. That'll that'll
- 2:26be on Saturday morning, and of course the game itself
- 2:31comes your way Saturday evening and you can hear it
- 2:33right here on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
- 2:37Our coverage begins with our long Orange Game Day programming
- 2:40at three thirty three point thirty Saturday afternoon, three hours
- 2:47prior to kick three thirty, and then the network pre
- 2:50game is one hour out but at three thirty over
- 2:54at the hookme hangout on Beavo Boulevard in the winship
- 2:57circle will be Cameron Parker, Mike car bull Hard and
- 3:01Mark Henry.
- 3:02Speaker 1: They'll set the scene for you there. From three thirty
- 3:03to five thirty.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Five thirty, we have the network pregame Roger Wallace and
- 3:06Will Matthew's joining me for that, and then we'll have
- 3:08the call of the game for you. So big week,
- 3:11big weekend in this town with also the F one
- 3:14race going on. I dare you, I dare you to
- 3:18find a hotel room for less than a thousand bucks.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Oh my goodness.
- 3:21Speaker 2: If you can find one at all, that is, it's
- 3:23going to be a little bit difficult. But we have
- 3:26other things to get to on the program as well.
- 3:28Certainly we're going to have some breakdown on Texas Georgia.
- 3:32We'll hear from Long Worn's head coach Steve Sarkisian Sark
- 3:35with his final local media availability of the week, so
- 3:42he'll have that, and that's from the weekly zoom that
- 3:47he does with the area and national reporters, So that'll
- 3:52be that'll we'll have highlights and comments of that throughout
- 3:57the course of the program this afternoon, So there's that.
- 4:01We also have inconceivable later this hour another fast food
- 4:05update for you, and inconceivable we have that. Additionally, we'll
- 4:11hear from Texas men's basketball coach Rodney Terry and Texas
- 4:15women's head coach Bick Schaeffer on the eve of their
- 4:19seasons getting underway in less than a month, so we'll
- 4:23hear from those guys. We'll talk NFL football. There is
- 4:27a Thursday night NFL game tonight. Who's the Thursday night
- 4:32game tonight? You remember if you asked me hold on.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Oh, it's a real barn burner, Sean Payton's return to
- 4:41New Orleans Rockcos Saints, Okay, Okay, bownecks for Spencer Ratler.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Okay, all right, alright. So anyway, so there's there's that.
- 4:50Speaker 2: There are college games tonight, and also in addition to that,
- 4:57high school football around the area. In fact, I'll be
- 5:00working the telecasts with Roger Wallace, who will be on
- 5:03the play by play call of the game on KBVO tonight,
- 5:07which is Hendrickson with an unenviable task trying to pull
- 5:12off an upset of third ranked and unbeaten aim Consolidated.
- 5:17That is tonight. So that's going on tonight. But there's
- 5:21other Thursday games as well, Thursday games on the college scene,
- 5:24and there's baseball. There's baseball early this evening and later
- 5:30this evening. The American League Championship Series has shifted to Cleveland,
- 5:37where the New York Yankees hold a two games to
- 5:39none lead on the Cleveland Guardians. And so Game three
- 5:46tonight used to be called progressive field. It's called something else,
- 5:50isn't it. I don't think it's still called progressive, is it.
- 5:53It's something really stupid, right, just like Guardians is stupid. No,
- 5:58it is Progressive Field because it used to be called
- 6:01what was it called before? We called Jacobs Field before, right,
- 6:04it was initially it was called Jacob's Field. That's where
- 6:07That's what I remember what it was called. And I
- 6:08think it's prect Jake, that's Progressive Field. Okay, So they play.
- 6:14I believe they're starting at five thirty I think or
- 6:17five and then four eight Central time, four oh eight
- 6:21Central time.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Okay, all right, first pitch, yeah, okay.
- 6:26Speaker 2: So that's Game three with the Yankees leading the Guardians
- 6:29two games to none, and then later this evening is
- 6:32Game four of the National League Championship Series. The Dodgers
- 6:35and the Mets in New York. Los Angeles pitched another
- 6:38shutout last night. They won eight to nothing. Shoe Aotoni
- 6:42hit a ball that might have landed in Manhattan.
- 6:46Speaker 1: He hit it in Queens. It was just crushed one.
- 6:49Speaker 2: It's amazing what his numbers are when he's got runners
- 6:54on base and when the bases are empty, when the
- 6:56bases are empty in the postseason, in the postseason, this postseason,
- 7:01Joey O Tommy's first postseason, when the bases are EMPTI
- 7:05z oo for twenty two.
- 7:07Speaker 1: When there are runners.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I believe in scoring position is the way when his
- 7:14runners in scoring position, he's seven out.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Of nine at the plate. It's pretty good. Yeah, So
- 7:21anyway other way around, that's for sure.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And the Dodgers got some badly needed effective starting pitching
- 7:27last night out of Walker Bueller and then four relievers
- 7:32to pitch the shutout Los Angeles, becoming the third team
- 7:36in Big League history to have three postseason shutouts and
- 7:44tying map Mark. So tonight the Mets will try to
- 7:48counter and with Kntana on the mound, and the Dodgers
- 7:53are going to bring back Yoshinobu Yamamoto, I believe in
- 7:58one day's less rest than what he's normally accustomed to doing.
- 8:01It it's not the it would be a regular turn
- 8:06on regular rest in the rotation. They had been giving
- 8:09him an extra day or two or whatever. But no
- 8:12luxury for that right now because the Mets still have
- 8:15the edge and the starting pitching. But the Dodgers are
- 8:18going to be pushed to see if they can go
- 8:21three straight days pushing that bullpen, because that's what they
- 8:25did last night. They put they got five bullpen innings
- 8:30last night they have to do it tonight and then
- 8:34tomorrow before the series would shift back to La if
- 8:37the Mets win either tonight or tomorrow to force a
- 8:39game six. So anyway, that's the baseball stuff at stake,
- 8:43and we'll have more on that coming up. And it's
- 8:44more college football things to get to as well, So
- 8:50plenty on tap the day and as always, happy to
- 8:53have your input, your thoughts, your comments, your questions. All
