- 2:49We eat and we feast upon the flesh of Jesus Christ, or we
- 2:55remember all of the things that He did for us.
- 2:59We remember the cross, we remember the lashes, we remember
- 3:04the crown thorns. God, we remember the
- 3:09resurrection. We thank you for life eternal,
- 3:14God, keep filling us with this daily bread, but we don't worry

- 3:34Forgive us, God, of all the times that we got it wrong, all
- 3:40the times that we turned our backs on you and made it about
- 3:44pleasure, flesh, carnal desires got, all the times that we have
- 3:51wronged you Lord, and broken your heart, Lord, all the times
- 3:57that we have chose this world and loved this world more than
- 4:03we loved your word. God forgive us of all of our
- 4:07trespasses. Help us, Lord, not to hold on to
- 4:12bitterness and unforgiveness. Lord, help us not to be plagued
- 4:18with our own sinful desire to find our identity and all of the
- 4:24things that have happened to us in our life.
- 4:27God, help us not to be plagued by anxiety and depression and
- 4:32unforgiveness. Father, I pray right now.
- 4:35God, we extend 70 * 7 forgiveness unto our brothers
- 4:41and sisters who have wronged us. Lord, help us to turn the other
- 4:45cheek. Lord, help us to know when it is
- 4:49that you tell us to not say a word, Lord, but just to sit and
- 4:55listen. God, I pray in the name of
- 4:58Jesus, you'll protect us from the evil one.
- 5:01Protect us from all of the systems of this world.
- 5:04Protect us, God, from all the fear that keeps trying to creep
- 5:08in, all the anxiety that keeps trying to keep creep in.
- 5:13God, I pray against the suicidal spirit.
- 5:15God, I pray against depression. Lord, I pray against anger and
- 5:24rage. Lord, I pray against deception
- 5:29in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, I pray that we can walk on
- 5:36heavenly heights. Lord, let us be seated with you
- 5:40in heavenly places. God the Spirit and the Bride
- 5:44say, come. Lord, we are crying out.
- 5:47We are desirous for you. Lord, keep us from all of the
- 5:52traps that are laid before us of the Fowler.
- 5:56God, I pray that we'll be able to circumvent all of the snares
- 6:04and the traps laid in the forest.
- 6:07God, I pray in the name of Jesus that you'll be glorified and
- 6:12honored everywhere that we go. Today, let us season our words
- 6:18with these spoken words with the Rhema.
- 6:21God, let us be found sharing our testimony with others and
- 6:24raising the banner up over our lives.
- 6:27Our faith, God, increase our faith.
- 6:29Today, let us rightly divide the word.
- 6:32Lord, help us to see you in every single situation today.
- 6:38God, I pray that we'll run the race well and finish well.
- 6:42God, I pray for the good news to be spoken of on every continent,
- 6:46in every people group, in every language.
- 6:49God, I pray in the name of Jesus for truth to be revealed in all
- 6:54situations. God will stand on the truth, the
- 6:57chief cornerstone. Jesus Christ is the truth, Lord,
- 7:01and I pray against the fiery darts of the enemy, Lord, I pray
- 7:05that you'll protect our hearts, Lord, as we live the right way,
- 7:10Lord, and we put on Jesus's righteousness.
- 7:13Lord, we love you. God, we remember all the things
- 7:17that you've done for us. We love you, King Jesus, and
- 7:20it's in your holy name that we pray, Amen.
- 7:26Let's start in verse one man, Brothers, fathers, hear you my
- 7:37defense, which I make now unto you.
- 7:41So we left off last chapter where Paul was brought in to the
- 7:47Sanhedrin. He was brought in to speak to
- 7:50all of his Jewish cohorts and now he's about to preach to them
- 7:58about Jesus Christ being their long-awaited Messiah and they
- 8:02need not wait on another to. And when they heard that he
- 8:07spoke in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silent
- 8:11and he said so. They were amazed that this man
- 8:17was brought before them, and not only did he speak Greek, but he
- 8:22was able to speak Aramaic here. This was a learned man, and
- 8:26God's about to use all of his background to paint a
- 8:30masterpiece. 3 I am truly a man, which am a Jew, born in Tarsus,
- 8:36a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of
- 8:40Gamaliel. And he taught according to the
- 8:44perfect manner of the law of the fathers and was zealous toward
- 8:48God, as you all are this day. Paul is saying I was once like
- 8:52you, I persecuted the way and I killed the early church.
- 8:58And he's saying I have had an encounter.
- 9:00He's about to paint this picture of this encounter with the risen
- 9:04Lord Jesus Christ. And he came to the saving
- 9:08knowledge that Jesus is the Messiah, and he wants them to
- 9:13have that same confidence. Four And I persecuted this way
- 9:20unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men
- 9:24and women. So you can see here, not only
- 9:26did he arrest the early church, and not only did he throw them
- 9:31in prison, but even to death, he persecuted them.
- 9:38Five, As also the high priest does bear me witness, and all
- 9:42the estate of the elders, from whom also I received letters
- 9:47unto the brothers, and went to Damascus to bring them, which
- 9:51were there bound unto Jerusalem for to be punished.
- 9:57So he had permission from the high priest to go and arrest the
- 10:01early church right before he had his divine encounter with Jesus
- 10:06on the road to Damascus. 6 And it came to pass that as I made
- 10:10my journey, and was come near unto Damascus, about noon,
- 10:14suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round and about
- 10:18me. So this is that Shekinah, glory
- 10:21of Jesus Christ exuding from him. 7 And I fell unto the
- 10:27ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why do you
- 10:33persecute me? 8 And I answered, Who are you,
- 10:37Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus
- 10:42of Nazareth, whom you persecute. So you can see here that Paul
- 10:47was persecuting not just the early Christians, but he was
- 10:51persecuting Jesus Christ himself.
- 10:53And Jesus intervened and told him it was hard to kick against
- 10:57the goads, it was hard to kick against the pricks.
- 11:02And the more that he tried, the more that he would be
- 11:05confounded. And that is what you are going
- 11:07to find in this day, in this hour, friends, is any time
- 11:12somebody tries to oppose God, it is only going to lead to their
- 11:17demise. And yes, there are many
- 11:20mausoleums and museums of buildings where the presence of
- 11:24God left a long time ago. And for those people that are in
- 11:29those buildings, it is just a bunch of tradition and it is
- 11:35just a bunch of ceremony. And the Lord God Almighty is in
- 11:41the highways, in the hedges and the byways, and He's snatching
- 11:45those out of the fire. And we need to be found doing
- 11:48the Lord's work, friends. And it might look different from
- 11:53all the ways that you were taught. 9 And they that were
- 12:00with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid, but they heard
- 12:05not the voice of him that spoke to me.
- 12:08This is the importance of having a personal relationship with the
- 12:13Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot just go along with
- 12:17others who have had this divine encounter and think that we're
- 12:21going to ride in on the coattails of them.
- 12:24It doesn't work that way. We must cultivate a relationship
- 12:28with God Almighty through His Son Jesus Christ.
- 12:32It is the only way. Tan and I said, What shall I do,
- 12:42Lord? And the Lord said unto me,
- 12:44Arise, go into Damascus, and there it shall be told of you
- 12:49all the things which are appointed for you to do.
- 12:52So Jesus personally walked Paul through his earthly ministry
- 12:59that he would perform, and he showed him that he would have to
- 13:02appear before kings. And we're going to see how Paul
- 13:06was bulletproof all the way up until he was not.
- 13:11And it's the same for you and for me.
- 13:13God knows every single moment of every single day that we're
- 13:17going to be on this earth, friends.
- 13:20Nothing is a surprise to him, and He has much work for us to
- 13:23do. Once you give your life to the
- 13:26Lord Jesus Christ and you receive the free gift of
- 13:29salvation, there is much work to do afterwards.
- 13:36We're not saved by work so that any man should boast our
- 13:40salvation is a free gift that cost him everything.
- 13:44But once you come into the fold, Jesus Christ is going to
- 13:48sanctify you, and He's going to use your lifetime to get you
- 13:53ready for all of eternity. 11 And when I could not see, for
- 14:00the glory of the light, being led by the hand of them that
- 14:04were with me, I came into Damascus. 12 And one Ananias, A
- 14:10devout man, according to the law, having a good report of all
- 14:14the Jews which dwelt there, 13 came unto me, and stood and said
- 14:19unto me, Brother Saul, receive your sight.
- 14:24And the same hour I looked up on him.
- 14:28So he went from Saul of Tarsus to brother Paul.
- 14:33And here God is going to have his will and have his way.
- 14:36And Paul's going to go on to write over a third of our New
- 14:39Testament. And we are eternally grateful
- 14:45and blessed for all of the things that Paul pinned down for
- 14:49us, inspired by the Holy Spirit. And here we can see that this
- 14:54divine plan of God being worked out and it was perfect and
- 15:00pleasing unto God. And Paul had enough fortitude
- 15:04and wherewithal to be able to come to his senses to understand
- 15:08that he could not fight against God.
- 15:10And he wants these men in the high council.
- 15:13He wants the Sanhedrin to understand that they need not
- 15:17wait on another Messiah, but Jesus Christ of Nazareth is Him
- 15:22that they have been longing for. If they would just come to Him
- 15:25honestly and put away all of their selfish vanity, all of
- 15:30their selfish greed, and all of their presuppositions and come
- 15:34to Him honestly, they would see that Jesus Christ fulfilled so
- 15:39much of the Old Testament. He is the embodiment of all of
- 15:43the Old Testament. He was born in Bethlehem.
- 15:48He was taken and called out of Egypt.
- 15:51He was reared in Nazareth. He is the branch.
- 15:56He is the suffering servant. You can see that Jesus Christ is
- 16:01their Messiah. There is no other that we should
- 16:06wait upon. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers has chosen
- 16:16you, that you should know his will and see that just one and
- 16:22should hear the voice of his mouth.
- 16:24Jesus Christ is the just one, and we need to hear the voice of
- 16:29his mouth. And every single letter from
- 16:34Genesis to Revelation is the just ones mouth.
- 16:40It is His voice spoken for us on pages.
- 16:44And how eternally blessed are the Jews to be able to house and
- 16:53to be able to preserve the eternal words of God.
- 16:58And we serve the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
- 17:02And we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, friends, 15 For you
- 17:11shall be his witness unto all men of what you have seen and
- 17:16heard. So God's going to use all of
- 17:19Paul's background, the school of Gamaliel, his Pharisaical
- 17:23background. He's going to use all of it to
- 17:26paint this masterpiece. And he's been preaching for 20
- 17:29years now about Jesus as the Messiah. 16 And now, why do you
- 17:39tarry, arise, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on
- 17:45the name of the Lord? That is our mandate.
- 17:49Friends. Have you been dunked in water?
- 17:52Are you washed in the blood? This is what you need to do.
- 17:55Don't tarry. Don't wait.
- 17:57If you've given your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, your very
- 18:02next step of immediate obedience is baptism.
- 18:06Do not wait. If you wait between salvation
- 18:09and baptism, the enemy is going to creep in and torment you.
- 18:15And then it says, wash away your sins as you are baptized.
- 18:23Friends, get rid of all of the things that you've been holding
- 18:26on to. Get rid of all that childhood
- 18:29trauma. Get rid of all the greed and
- 18:32malice. Get rid of all of the things
- 18:34that are entangling and ensnaring you.
- 18:37Friends call on the name of the Lord and be saved. 17 And it
- 18:45came to pass that when I was come again to Jerusalem, even
- 18:50while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance.
- 18:54So here Paul's going to show them that he has been back to
- 18:58Jerusalem prior to this time that he's being held in this
- 19:03court. He was back, and the Lord Jesus
- 19:07was well pleased to reveal to him himself, 18 and saw him
- 19:14saying unto me, Make haste and get you quickly out of
- 19:20Jerusalem, for they will not receive your testimony
- 19:23concerning me. So Jesus knew that Paul had much
- 19:27work to do amongst the Gentiles and that he was going to send
- 19:31them on three missionary journeys to go around all of the
- 19:35known world, and that the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ will be
- 19:41proclaimed before he called him back to Jerusalem. 19 And I
- 19:47said, Lord, they know that I am imprisoned, and be in every
- 19:51synagogue them that believed on you. 20 And when the blood of
- 19:57your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by and
- 20:01consenting unto his death, and kept the clothing of them that
- 20:06slew him. 21 And he said unto me, Depart, for I will send you
- 20:12far from here unto the Gentiles. So we know predominantly Peter.
- 20:19Was called unto the Jews and Paul predominantly was called
- 20:23unto the Gentiles. And you can see God working
- 20:26mightily amongst these two groups and it's no different
- 20:30today, Friends, there is a distinct difference between the
- 20:37Jews and the Gentiles, the natural and the unnatural,
- 20:43friends. And we cannot say that the Jews
- 20:47and all of their heritage was swallowed up in the church.
- 20:51That is not the correct way to view the Word of God.
- 20:56You must see that God has a divine plan for the Jews, and
- 21:03He's going to bring them into the saving knowledge of the Lord
- 21:06Jesus Christ. As they enter in to the last
- 21:10days, as they enter in to the tribulation, you're going to see
- 21:14them acknowledge that they murdered their Messiah.
- 21:17But in the meantime, and in between time, you and I are
- 21:21eternally blessed by their disobedience, and we are the
- 21:25unnatural grafted in. Friends, praise God for that,
- 21:29that He's calling all nations and all people groups unto
- 21:34Himself, but it does not discount and discredit the
- 21:39peculiar calling of the Jews. And it is a divine mystery that
- 21:44you and I have to get out of our own way and just say yes and
- 21:48Amen to all of God's plans and purposes.
- 21:51And you cannot approach God from a moralistic approach, and you
- 21:55cannot force God into behaving in a way that you deem is
- 22:00correct. God is in heaven and does
- 22:03whatever He pleases, friends, and the best thing we can do is
- 22:06sit in His presence and know that He is the great I am.
- 22:10He is God, friend. Be still and know and work out
- 22:16your salvation with fear and trembling. 22.
- 22:28And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up
- 22:34their voices, and said away with such a fellow from the earth,
- 22:39for it is not fit that he should live.
- 22:41They listened to him as long as he was going along, until he
- 22:45mentioned the word Gentiles. That's you and that's me.
- 22:57And these Jews? Refused to believe that God
- 23:00would call these filthy, unclean Gentiles.
- 23:07Far. Be it from us to look down the
- 23:10nose at the Jews. Friends, there is this eternal
- 23:15play that is happening all around us.
- 23:18And God's goodness and grace is on display as He goes out into
- 23:22the highways and the hedges and the byways.
- 23:25And He calls many unto repentance, and many unto
- 23:28salvation, and many to the remission of sins.
- 23:32And we are eternally blessed by the Jews turning away and not
- 23:40coming into the banquet. But they will.
- 23:45Many times you just read the Scriptures, fall in love with
- 23:48Jesus, fall in love with the Word of God, and you're going to
- 23:52find that God will be well pleased to reveal to you all of
- 23:56the promises contained in this book.
- 23:58And if we'll get out of the culture, if we'll get out of all
- 24:03of the teachings of man, the opinions of man, let every man
- 24:08be a liar and let God give you divine interpretation and divine
- 24:15obedience unto the Scriptures, and you're going to find that
- 24:19he's working out all of these things.
- 24:23For the Jews. And for the Gentiles alike.
- 24:26And these men had it just as wrong as we will if we turn our
- 24:32backs on the Jews. And it is a tactic of the enemy
- 24:37to cause division and discord amongst brethren.
- 24:42And those are the things that God hates, friends. 23 and.
- 24:52As they cried out and cast off their clothes and threw dust
- 24:56into the air, 24 the chief captain commanded him to be
- 25:00brought into the castle, and bowed that he should be examined
- 25:05by scourging, that he might know why they cried so against him.
- 25:10So think about it, these men. These.
- 25:13Roman guards were standing there, and he'd already spoken
- 25:17to them in Greek. And then he turns and speaks to
- 25:20the Sanhedrin in Aramaic, and they're trying to figure it all
- 25:25out. And they just say, OK, we don't
- 25:27understand any of it, but we're going to get it out of them by
- 25:31beating him to death until he tells us what he's done wrong.
- 25:3720. Five.
- 25:38And as they bound him with throngs, Paul said unto the
- 25:43centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man
- 25:48that is a Roman and uncondemned? So this would have struck fear
- 25:53into the hearts of the soldiers because they would have been
- 25:58guilty. Of laying their.
- 26:01Hands and binding a Roman citizen, which is against the
- 26:05law and Paul knew it, but he was wise enough not to call this
- 26:11card yet onto the table. What he did was he waited for
- 26:15the perfect timing and God you can see his divine timeline.
- 26:19You can see that God's divine timing is so much better than
- 26:24ours and if we will just trust God.
- 26:26You can see that every moment of every day of your life is unto
- 26:30God, and you'll not miss out on anything if you'll be sold out
- 26:35to the Lord Jesus Christ. He's going to take you from
- 26:39glory to glory. Hallelujah.
- 26:41Amen. 26 when the. Centurion heard that he went and
- 26:47told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what you do to this
- 26:52man, for he is a Roman. 27 Then the chief captain came and said
- 26:57unto him, Tell me, are you a Roman?
- 26:59And he said, yes, 28 And the chief captain answered with a
- 27:05great sum, I obtained this freedom.
- 27:08And Paul said, But I was Born Free.
- 27:12So this centurion is puzzled and perplexed.
- 27:17He is confused by the fact that this man who.
- 27:24Is a Jew. And despised and rejected by his
- 27:28own people. Could be a Roman citizen.
- 27:32And Paul here just puts him in his place.
- 27:35Says you had to buy it. But I was Born Free.
- 27:38Praise God, Hallelujah. I pray that you have been Born
- 27:41Free. I pray through the regeneration
- 27:45that you've become a new man. You've been Born Free, and you
- 27:49have the liberty and the freedom, friends, to speak the
- 27:55name of Jesus Christ over all people. 29 Then straightway that
- 28:03departed from him, which should have examined him.
- 28:06And the chief captain also was afraid, for he knew that he was
- 28:10a Roman, and because he had bound him.
- 28:13So you can see here that Paul. Let them know.
- 28:18That they were breaking the law and he's already been bound
- 28:23twice. So prior to this event, those
- 28:28men were guilty. In the Roman court.
- 28:31Of law, they would have been guilty also for binding him, and
- 28:35Paul here knows that it's not his time yet. 30 we'll end on.
- 28:4230 On the Morrow, because he would have known the certainty
- 28:46wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his
- 28:51bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their counsel to
- 28:56appear, and brought Paul down and set him before them.
- 29:03So here you can. See.
- 29:06How God is? Orchestrating all of these
- 29:11assemblies so that the name of Jesus Christ can be spoken
- 29:16mightily and boldly by Paul. And he's giving him all the
- 29:21words and he told him all the things that he would have to go
