- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Big
- 0:11Speaker 1: Blue Nation. Welcome to Just the Cats on this Wednesday,
- 0:15Speaker 1: October 7th. I hope everybody's doing well. Today is yet
- 0:19Speaker 1: again just an absolutely beautiful day. But, you know, Justin,
- 0:24Speaker 1: good morning to you.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 0:25Speaker 1: You know, Saturday is not looking so great. Yeah, thanks
- 0:30Speaker 1: to the hurricane. Have you heard that? Exactly.
- 0:32Speaker 2: What the heck? We haven't had a hurricane all season long.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Now there's going to be one destroy LSU and Kentucky?
- 0:38Speaker 1: Well. Come on. All right. Let me ask you, though.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Does that set it up better for UK that there
- 0:45Speaker 1: could be inclement weather?
- 0:48Speaker 2: How so?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Because usually when you're the underdog and there's bad weather,
- 0:54Speaker 1: that kind of sets a tone for the underdog to
- 0:57Speaker 1: have a better chance to win the game.
- 0:59Speaker 2: If you take care of the football more times than not.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I'd agree with that. Yeah. So, I mean, right now it's,
- 1:06Speaker 1: I'm looking at Louisville. It doesn't say Lexington, but right
- 1:08Speaker 1: now in Louisville, it says we've got a 65% chance
- 1:12Speaker 1: of rain. Sunday is worse. It's a 95% chance of rain.
- 1:20Speaker 1: So I think Saturday, I mean, it just depends on what,
- 1:24Speaker 1: what time of day it's going to be raining, but the.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Chances are better on Sunday for rain. That means night.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I would imagine Saturday night is going to be pretty gnarly.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yeah, okay. Oh, boy. All right, then. Does that scare you?
- 1:38Speaker 1: Does that scare me? I would rather have a clean
- 1:41Speaker 1: game as far as weather-wise because, you know, will that
- 1:46Speaker 1: keep some of the fans from coming?
- 1:48Speaker 4: No.
- 1:49Speaker 1: You don't think so?
- 1:49Speaker 2: No.
- 1:50Speaker 1: You think they will show up no matter what?
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah. I think the Kentucky fan base is really, really
- 1:55Speaker 2: excited about this one. I think they– see opportunity sitting
- 1:58Speaker 2: in front of them.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I just, I don't think anyone's going to be scared away.
- 2:02Speaker 2: I hope you're right.
- 2:04Speaker 1: We'll talk more about the football game in just a
- 2:06Speaker 1: few minutes, but I really think the, the, the story
- 2:09Speaker 1: of the day is last night, UK basketball hosted pro day. And,
- 2:18Speaker 1: of course, it wasn't mentioned. Evidently, am I the only
- 2:23Speaker 1: one missing this stuff? I see other people as far
- 2:25Speaker 1: as media members saying, why are we finding this stuff
- 2:28Speaker 1: out so late? That's the part I don't understand. I'm
- 2:32Speaker 1: getting a little, I don't want to say irritated, but
- 2:35Speaker 1: it is concerning that so much of this is being
- 2:40Speaker 1: notified to the media and to the fans at such
- 2:43Speaker 1: a late period. We're only finding stuff out a few
- 2:45Speaker 1: days before. Would that bother you? Or is it just
- 2:51Speaker 1: like no big deal? No, absolutely.
- 2:53Speaker 2: We made so much about, I don't know if it
- 2:55Speaker 2: was on this show, but we made so much about
- 2:57Speaker 2: the Indiana, or lack thereof, fans that.
- 3:01Speaker 1: They're paying on Friday. Oh, no, we talked about it Monday.
- 3:04Speaker 2: That was only announced, I think, a week, maybe eight
- 3:07Speaker 2: days before that event took place.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Right.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I mean, so it's a similar situation in Bloomington where
- 3:12Speaker 2: it's just nobody's finding out about anything until really late.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Are we just not into basketball this year? We're so
- 3:18Speaker 1: excited about football that Indiana's doing the same thing. Hey,
- 3:22Speaker 1: basketball is just past time for when football season starts again.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Might have something to do with it. Man, I mean,
- 3:27Speaker 1: that's something else for Indiana. Of course, you know, those
- 3:30Speaker 1: pictures up there at.
- 3:33Speaker 1: What's the little Coliseum called up there?
- 3:36Speaker 2: Simon Scott Assembly Hall.
- 3:38Speaker 1: That's right. Nobody cares about the Simon Scott. Who is
- 3:41Speaker 1: Simon Scott, by the way? That's who donated the money
- 3:43Speaker 1: for it to be renovated. Oh, okay. I got you.
- 3:45Speaker 1: All right, then. Well, to me, all my life, it's
- 3:47Speaker 1: been called Assembly Hall. It was never known as, until recently,
- 3:54Speaker 1: Historic Memorial Hall. It was always Memorial Hall. But now
- 3:58Speaker 1: we've added the Historic Memorial Park.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Isn't it Coliseum?
- 4:01Speaker 1: Or Coliseum, yes. I got Assembly Hall on the mind
- 4:05Speaker 1: right now. But, yeah, Coliseum. Memorial Coliseum. But it's now
- 4:09Speaker 1: Historic Memorial Coliseum.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I don't hate it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: It's different. I mean, I'm fine with it. It is historic.
- 4:16Speaker 2: And it's only getting more historic.
- 4:18Speaker 1: You think so? Why is that?
- 4:19Speaker 2: Because volleyball and women's basketball. True. I would agree with that.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Or worse than all kinds of history.
- 4:25Speaker 1: But, listen, I think that UK basketball did a nice job. Uh, it's,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I watch it for a few minutes and that I'm
- 4:35Speaker 1: kind of done with it.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Was it televised?
- 4:37Speaker 1: Uh, a little bit of it. Yes.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I mean, I saw like, I saw obviously tweets with
- 4:41Speaker 2: videos on it that the media members were posting, but
- 4:44Speaker 2: I didn't know if it was televised.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Uh, but here's the thing. Um, you know who my
- 4:51Speaker 1: prediction was as far as who was going to be
- 4:54Speaker 1: the surprise player of the year. Uh, do you realize that?
- 4:58Speaker 1: He was kind of the one guy a lot of
- 5:01Speaker 1: people talked about last night. It wasn't just Malachi Moreno,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and it wasn't just Milan Momchilovic. It was Usman Ndiaye
- 5:13Speaker 1: they talked about. They said he stood out like crazy.
- 5:17Speaker 1: And plus, as far as the points that they scored,
- 5:20Speaker 1: he scored the second most.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Who scored the most?
- 5:23Speaker 1: Oh, come on. Who won? Well, no, it was actually Malachi.
- 5:29Speaker 1: So Malakai combined four game points breakdown by player was
- 5:34Speaker 1: Malakai had 15, Usmane had 13, and Milan had 10.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Alex Wilkins and Frank Kepnang were right after that.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Kepnang or Kepnang? I'm going to mess that up. I've
- 5:48Speaker 2: been saying Kepnang. And also, speaking of him, I kind
- 5:52Speaker 2: of had a change of heart on him yesterday. Oh, really? Yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 2: you remember how I've been saying all offseason that I
- 5:57Speaker 2: was– I don't really expect much from him. Dude's 25
- 6:01Speaker 2: years old playing college basketball still. But I didn't think
- 6:04Speaker 2: about the fact that he came from Washington. Who else
- 6:09Speaker 2: came from Washington?
- 6:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Zoom Diallo. Those two guys have played with each other,
- 6:13Speaker 2: which who knows if they'll actually see this floor at
- 6:16Speaker 2: the same time. But if they do, that could be
- 6:19Speaker 2: a big advantage for not only Kepnong, but for Zoom
- 6:22Speaker 2: Diallo as well, because they know each other's games.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 2: So, I did kind of have a turn of heart
- 6:28Speaker 2: in regards to Frank yesterday.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Now, let me clarify. The game was, or
- 6:33Speaker 1: the game, the Pro Day was not on traditional. It
- 6:35Speaker 1: was on SEC Plus.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Okay.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So, that's the way I was able to watch it.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I could have watched it on ESPN.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. And because YouTube helped with that, right? What's that?
- 6:45Speaker 1: Didn't YouTube allow for all the SEC Plus or ESPN
- 6:49Speaker 1: Plus stations to come on now? And that's how it
- 6:52Speaker 1: came on. I have no idea. Yeah, I believe that's
- 6:54Speaker 1: how it happened.
- 6:54Speaker 2: But if you've got ESPN Plus, then you could have watched.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Because they'll have SEC Plus and that stuff. Well, I've
- 7:00Speaker 2: got that box thing, so I can pretty much get anything.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I love that thing. My birthday's next Thursday.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Oh, really? You want me to spend $ 400 on you?
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah, no problem.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Okay, yeah. All right, then. I am curious, though, with
- 7:16Speaker 1: all the basketball talk because of last night, they did
- 7:19Speaker 1: say almost every team showed up from the NBA. Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 1: They said it was like two and three deep from
- 7:25Speaker 1: each team. And that Mark Pope was very happy how
- 7:29Speaker 1: the team looked last night.
- 7:32Speaker 2: That's great to hear.
- 7:34Speaker 1: It is good to hear.
- 7:36Speaker 2: But I mean, do we put stock in anything Mark
- 7:39Speaker 2: Pope says anymore? Because I don't.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I have to tell you, no, you can't. I mean,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I love his enthusiasm. It is compelling. but I just
- 7:49Speaker 1: he's it's almost the boy cried wolf in the opposite
- 7:52Speaker 1: way so I just take it with a grain of
- 7:55Speaker 1: salt let's just find out how the season pans out
- 7:57Speaker 1: let me see a couple of games uh exhibition would
- 8:00Speaker 1: be nice but you don't really get much out of
- 8:03Speaker 1: exhibition games is that fair to say I.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Know it's not fair to say really I think you
- 8:09Speaker 2: can pull a lot from an exhibition game I mean
- 8:11Speaker 2: well I mean Oftentimes, it's wrong. I mean, think about
- 8:16Speaker 2: last year when Kentucky beat Kansas. No, you beat Purdue.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Or Purdue, that's right, Purdue. Who was number one in
- 8:22Speaker 2: the country preseason. That was a horrible predictor, by the way.
- 8:26Speaker 2: And then, yeah, you see how the regular season plays out.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. So that's why I don't put much stock
- 8:30Speaker 1: in the exhibition games. That's prime example right there.
- 8:33Speaker 2: When is the first one? They got to have one
- 8:35Speaker 2: coming up. It's coming up soon. I don't remember what
- 8:37Speaker 2: the date of it is.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I'll look it up.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I know there's several exhibition games tonight.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah, well, didn't we talk about it yesterday? Because there's
- 8:44Speaker 1: tickets available. I don't think I gave the dates of them, though.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Maybe not.
- 8:49Speaker 1: But anyway, so with UK playing last night. I was
- 8:56Speaker 1: entertained by it. I was excited because I wanted to
- 8:59Speaker 1: talk to you about it because my guy, Usman Ndiaye,
- 9:02Speaker 1: looked really good. Everybody was talking about him. And maybe
- 9:06Speaker 1: my prediction is not so far off.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Maybe not.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I mean, we don't know yet.
- 9:12Speaker 1: No, we don't. Now.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Maybe my prediction isn't that far off. Heard some good
- 9:16Speaker 2: things about Wilkins as well. Well, you're exactly correct. Alex
- 9:19Speaker 2: Wilkins looked pretty good last night too. So as far
- 9:23Speaker 2: as the coming season, let's start talking about it right now.
- 9:28Speaker 2: What is a successful season going to look like for
- 9:31Speaker 2: Mark Pope in his third season? Let's talk about it
- 9:36Speaker 2: from the standpoint of the non-conference games. Conference games. How
- 9:44Speaker 2: does the UK finish in the conference? And how far
- 9:50Speaker 2: do they go in the SEC tournament? And how far
- 9:53Speaker 2: do they have to go in the NCAA tournament?
- 9:56Speaker 1: All right. So let's start with non-conference. What kind of
- 10:01Speaker 1: a non-conference success does UK have to have in order
- 10:05Speaker 1: for Justin Kalen say, this is going, this might be
- 10:08Speaker 1: a fun season.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I mean, obviously you, you don't want to drop. Any
- 10:13Speaker 2: games that you shouldn't drop, that's first and foremost. You
- 10:17Speaker 2: have to win all the games that you're favored to win.
- 10:20Speaker 2: All right, first game is Manhattan.
- 10:23Speaker 1: November 3rd.
- 10:23Speaker 2: That'll be a 40 point blowout.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yeah. But that tells you when, when the, that's, that's
- 10:29Speaker 1: after the exhibition games, but anyway. Yeah. All right. So
- 10:32Speaker 1: non-conference you got of the big games. All right.
- 10:35Speaker 2: You ready? Yep.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I won't go through the other teams that we really
- 10:39Speaker 1: should be. I mean, in James Madison, Manhattan, Northern Arizona, those,
- 10:42Speaker 1: the Grambling State. Sacred Heart.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Playing a girls high school team.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Exactly. So Kansas. Kansas. You got at Indiana.
- 10:53Speaker 2: No, it's Indy.
- 10:56Speaker 1: What?
- 10:56Speaker 2: That's in Indianapolis.
- 10:57Speaker 1: It is in Indianapolis? Yeah. Okay. You've got, I think
- 11:02Speaker 1: Wichita State is still a pretty good game, even though
- 11:05Speaker 1: I was kind of surprised there was still tickets left
- 11:07Speaker 1: for that game.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, but with that being at home, that
- 11:09Speaker 2: shouldn't be.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Okay, you got UK at Virginia, which I'm telling you
- 11:13Speaker 1: right now, I'm traveling to that game. That's a tough game.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I am going to that game in Charlottesville. And then
- 11:19Speaker 1: you finish it out with UofL and North Carolina before
- 11:23Speaker 1: we head to SEC play. Well, you got Sacred Heart,
- 11:27Speaker 1: you're right, and Gardner-Webb. So, of those games, what do
- 11:31Speaker 1: you think UK has to do in order to say,
- 11:35Speaker 1: this might be a fun season? So, again, you got Kansas, Indiana. Virginia, UofL,
- 11:42Speaker 1: North Carolina. So five games right there. What kind of
- 11:45Speaker 1: a record? We don't have to go through each game individually,
- 11:48Speaker 1: but if you want to, you can.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I think if you find a way to go 3-2
- 11:52Speaker 2: in that stretch, that'll be really telling of what this
- 11:56Speaker 2: team is.
- 11:57Speaker 1: And that's exactly what I was saying. And it doesn't
- 12:01Speaker 1: really matter which of the teams is 3-2, right?
- 12:03Speaker 2: Exactly, yeah. And honestly... With it being non-conference, you could
- 12:08Speaker 2: probably get away with going two and three in that
- 12:11Speaker 2: stretch as well, but that's going to cause a little
- 12:13Speaker 2: bit of unrest with the fan base. They're not going
- 12:15Speaker 2: to want to lose three of those five games.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I think the minimum has to be three games for
- 12:20Speaker 1: the fans to stay engaged and for the fans to say, okay,
- 12:23Speaker 1: this is going to be a fun team. This might
- 12:25Speaker 1: be a successful season. And of those games, I think
- 12:30Speaker 1: Kentucky has to beat The border teams, they have to
- 12:34Speaker 1: beat Indiana. They have to beat UofL. I'm going to
- 12:40Speaker 1: tell you right now, if they lose to Virginia, I
- 12:42Speaker 1: think it'll bother the fan base, but it's not going
- 12:45Speaker 1: to be devastating as if they lost to Indiana or UofL.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Well, here's the deal. With the losses this year, every
- 12:51Speaker 2: loss is going to frustrate the fan base. It doesn't
- 12:54Speaker 2: matter if you lose that game on November 10th to Kansas.
- 12:57Speaker 2: The fan base is going to be frustrated with every
- 13:00Speaker 2: single loss this season because that's just a product of
- 13:03Speaker 2: what Mark Pope has done to them the last two years.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Now, of the other three games, Virginia, North Carolina, UofL,
- 13:09Speaker 1: or Kansas, which games does UK, which ones should they
- 13:15Speaker 1: really win? I mean, I look at this and think, okay,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I don't think losing to Kansas, well, it'll bother a
- 13:24Speaker 1: number of fans because of the fact that Kansas is
- 13:26Speaker 1: right behind us in all-time wins.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 1: So I think that matters from that standpoint. North Carolina
- 13:32Speaker 1: is not as big a deal other than, you know,
- 13:35Speaker 1: we all of us of a certain age. Remember the
- 13:39Speaker 1: whole Dean Smith era. And that's when we really started
- 13:43Speaker 1: disliking North Carolina. Yeah, but I don't think it's that
- 13:45Speaker 1: big of a deal to lose them as as as
- 13:48Speaker 1: much as it would be to Kansas. Go ahead.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I disagree with that. Oh, really?
- 13:52Speaker 1: Okay, go ahead. ACC.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Hubert Davis is why. Yeah, that's a good point. You
- 13:58Speaker 2: can't lose to that dweeb. At least Bill Self's had
- 14:01Speaker 2: a really good career and won titles, but Hubert Davis,
- 14:03Speaker 2: good grief, you.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Can't lose to him. Okay, you changed my mind. I
- 14:06Speaker 1: agree with you.
- 14:07Speaker 2: In terms of Virginia, this isn't Tony Bennett's Virginia anymore. Yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 2: there's still a solid team year in and year out,
- 14:14Speaker 2: but that's a game that I know it's on the road.
- 14:17Speaker 2: That's a game Kentucky should go in and win.
- 14:20Speaker 1: You would think so.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Honestly, if you're asking me to predict a day out
- 14:24Speaker 2: of those five games, I'd go 4-1.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Really? I would.
- 14:28Speaker 2: With the only loss coming to Kansas.
- 14:30Speaker 1: So that has to be for UK, in your mind,
- 14:33Speaker 1: to have a successful season. within their non-conference games, you
- 14:38Speaker 1: believe now, instead of 3-2, UK has to... No, I'm
- 14:42Speaker 1: staying at 3-2. But you're predicting they'll go 4-1. I'm
- 14:43Speaker 1: predicting 4-1. Okay, I understand now. Yeah, because, you know,
- 14:47Speaker 1: that's now three teams in the ACC. That's a little
- 14:50Speaker 1: bit of an indicator how well UK would play in
- 14:53Speaker 1: the ACC. Two ACC.
- 14:56Speaker 2: No, it is three. Yeah, Louisville.
- 14:57Speaker 1: No, three.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I forgot about Louisville.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Yeah, Louisville.
- 14:59Speaker 2: That Louisville game on December 12th.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:02Speaker 2: From an outsider's perspective, I am... pumped about that game.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I think that game's going to rock.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Well, you know, the fan base with U of L
- 15:13Speaker 1: is losing their mind right now because you talked about
- 15:16Speaker 1: it yesterday a little bit. You've been listening to U
- 15:18Speaker 1: of L radio. I've now gone and listened just because
- 15:21Speaker 1: curiosity got the best of me. What is it? Curiosity
- 15:24Speaker 1: got the cat killed the cat or killed the cat.
- 15:26Speaker 1: There you go. So here's this cat right over here.
- 15:29Speaker 1: It killed me yesterday, but it, it, Not really because
- 15:32Speaker 1: I kind of enjoyed it, but it was rebirth for me.
- 15:38Speaker 1: But I looked at it and thought, oh, my. If
- 15:41Speaker 1: UofL is losing their mind because of football right now,
- 15:45Speaker 1: if UofL basketball does not succeed, Man, they're going to
- 15:50Speaker 1: lose their minds over there. It's going to get bad.
- 15:52Speaker 1: In a huge way. So I think more of the
- 15:57Speaker 1: pressure right now is on Pat Kelsey than Mark Pope
- 16:01Speaker 1: to succeed.
- 16:02Speaker 2: For sure.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I really think so. And with them going through this,
- 16:07Speaker 1: you got to believe Pat Kelsey is now feeling the heat.
- 16:11Speaker 1: It's like with all the money they spent on that
- 16:13Speaker 1: basketball team, they had better succeed and they had better
- 16:17Speaker 1: succeed far more than Mark Pope is going to be required.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I still think Mark Pope is going to be required
- 16:22Speaker 1: to have a good season. I don't disagree with anything
- 16:24Speaker 1: you just said.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I mean, it does put a lot of pressure on
- 16:27Speaker 2: Pat Kelsey, but who knows? Pressure can create cracks or
- 16:30Speaker 2: it makes diamonds.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I like that.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Wow.
- 16:34Speaker 1: It can make cracks or create diamonds.
- 16:37Speaker 2: That's right. That's the phrase.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Okay. I've literally never heard that phrase. How? I don't know.
- 16:43Speaker 1: You didn't hear the one I said the other day
- 16:45Speaker 1: about the funeral.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Yeah, but you're 60 years old.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Are you not?
- 16:50Speaker 1: What does that have to do with anything?
- 16:52Speaker 2: You've been on Earth a lot longer to hear these phrases.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I shouldn't say a phrase that you've never heard.
- 16:57Speaker 1: You're 60 years old? Well, thanks for making me feel
- 17:00Speaker 1: so freaking old now. Guess what?
- 17:02Speaker 2: You turn another year older tomorrow. I do.
- 17:04Speaker 1: So, newsflash.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Hopefully you get a birthday present with the Rays. Wouldn't
- 17:08Speaker 2: that be fun? With the Rays and the race. If
- 17:11Speaker 2: the Rays win tonight... Yeah. I'm losing my mind. Does
- 17:14Speaker 2: Michael Bennett go out on the town?
- 17:17Speaker 4: Man.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I'll have a hard time going to sleep, I'll tell
- 17:21Speaker 1: you that. And then if my horse wins... On Thursday, tomorrow?
- 17:26Speaker 1: I don't know if I can come back to Louisville, Kentucky.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I might. I won't need a plane. I'll just run back, okay?
- 17:32Speaker 1: I'm just telling you right now. Add me to Red Bull.
- 17:34Speaker 1: They give you wings. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. No, you
- 17:37Speaker 1: don't want to see me, especially right now, as hyped
- 17:39Speaker 1: up as I am. You don't want to see me
- 17:41Speaker 1: with a Red Bull right now, okay? I don't know
- 17:44Speaker 1: why I continue to look at a blank screen, but
- 17:46Speaker 1: I look at a blank screen. I know you can
- 17:47Speaker 1: see me, but I can't see you. Just turn the
- 17:49Speaker 1: YouTube stream on that screen. Oh, I haven't even thought
- 17:53Speaker 1: about that. I probably should.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Okay.
- 17:54Speaker 1: All right. We got to take our first break. When
- 17:56Speaker 1: we come back, let's talk about the conference schedule. We'll
- 18:00Speaker 1: talk about that. What does Mark Pope have to do
- 18:02Speaker 1: to make it a successful season for this team? And
- 18:06Speaker 1: then we got the football news. I definitely want to
- 18:08Speaker 1: talk about that because you know what? We're three days
- 18:11Speaker 1: away from what I think is now the biggest game
- 18:13Speaker 1: of the season. It would bar none. I know Alabama
- 18:17Speaker 1: was a big game, but this is the biggest game.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Because it's the next one.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Well, it is. Exactly. If we were playing Vanderbilt, I'd
- 18:23Speaker 1: say it's the biggest game of the season. So there
- 18:25Speaker 1: you go. Let's take a break.
- 18:26Speaker 2: 502-414-1450.
- 18:27Speaker 1: You want to text me on the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 18:30Speaker 1: If you want to call in, 502-384-1450. Or you can
- 18:33Speaker 1: tweet me at JustTheCatRadio. We'll see you in a minute.
- 18:36Speaker 1: This is Just The Cat.
- 18:40Speaker 4: Let the good times roll.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Let them knock you around Let the good times roll
- 19:16Speaker 3: Let them make you a clown.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Okay, that's weird.
- 19:26Speaker 1: All I can hear is the narrow, narrow. That is
- 19:30Speaker 1: just the weirdest. By the way, I almost picked this
- 19:33Speaker 1: song today. Good song. I love the cars. Rick Ocasek,
- 19:37Speaker 1: by the way. But, yeah, I almost picked. I always
- 19:41Speaker 1: liked the cars. But, you know, that's an old song
- 19:44Speaker 1: right there.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I figured that was appropriate for your foray up to
- 19:47Speaker 2: New York tonight.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I appreciate it. But the cars.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Good times roll.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I am not kidding. It's been a long time since
- 19:53Speaker 1: I've been this excited before. I mean, I was excited
- 19:57Speaker 1: when I went to see a concert at Red Rocks
- 20:01Speaker 1: this summer. There are things I've been excited for, but
- 20:05Speaker 1: I can tell you, man, just... I don't know how
- 20:10Speaker 1: to explain it. So anyway, let's get to the text line.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Whiskey Thief text line 502-414-1450. See, I didn't say it.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Nobody else gets that except you and me. John here for,
- 20:22Speaker 1: oh my goodness. Okay, hold on. I didn't realize you
- 20:24Speaker 1: had texted that many times, John. Michael, good luck tonight
- 20:28Speaker 1: and safe travels. I think you meant safe, not save.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I'm not going to save my travels because I'm not
- 20:34Speaker 1: saving at all. This was One expensive plane ticket to
- 20:37Speaker 1: get up there. I blame my Yankees. We'll get it
- 20:40Speaker 1: done tonight. We'll talk about that a little later because
- 20:42Speaker 1: their starting pitcher has something going on in his lifetime,
- 20:46Speaker 1: in his life right now. Yeah, yeah. So we'll talk
- 20:49Speaker 1: about that in a minute. Hey, Michael, thanks for bringing
- 20:52Speaker 1: up on Crosstalk that the home environment for Saturday will
- 20:56Speaker 1: be a sold-out craziness. Look, despite being listed as a 9.5
- 21:00Speaker 1: to 10 point, home underdog against Lane Kiffin's number 10-ranked
- 21:05Speaker 1: LSU squad. The ruckus environment at Kroger Field, no, it's
- 21:10Speaker 1: not Kroger Field, sorry, it's Commonwealth Stadium, John, is expected
- 21:15Speaker 1: to give the Wildcats a major boost. Hey, remember when
- 21:18Speaker 1: the Bluegrass Miracle 2002 LSU actually has not won a
- 21:23Speaker 1: game in Lexington since then? Even that victory required a
- 21:27Speaker 1: miraculous deflected 74-yard Hail Mary pass on the final play
- 21:32Speaker 1: of the game to escape with a 33 30 win. Yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 1: that was a guy. Morris was the head coach back then.
- 21:38Speaker 1: I remember the student body actually up on the goalpost
- 21:42Speaker 1: trying to bring them down, not realizing that UK had
- 21:45Speaker 1: lost that game. Justin, just to let you know, that was,
- 21:48Speaker 1: that was terrible. Uh, or how about, uh, the more
- 21:50Speaker 1: recent time, the 2021 defeat, the last time LSU traveled
- 21:54Speaker 1: to Lexington in 2021 and unranked Kentucky team, uh, Physically, well,
- 22:02Speaker 1: where'd it go? It just disappeared.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Physically dominated the Tigers in a 42-21 blowout victory. We
- 22:08Speaker 2: do have a chance, and I can't wait to see
- 22:09Speaker 2: how it plays out.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Good Lord, John, you are in the mood to write today. Also, Justin,
- 22:14Speaker 1: a home field advantage matters. And you know that for Nebraska,
- 22:19Speaker 1: when filtering strictly for home games, they are outscoring opponents
- 22:25Speaker 1: by an average of 44-14. Wow. Demonstrating a massive hometown advantage.
- 22:31Speaker 1: that smothers opposing offenses. Also, Nebraska ranks number two nationally
- 22:36Speaker 1: in total yardage gained at home, averaging a dominant 520.7
- 22:43Speaker 1: yards per game across their home matchups. Good gosh. Look,
- 22:48Speaker 1: Michael and Justin, I believe the football Cats fans will
- 22:53Speaker 1: be happy Saturday and maybe some Hoosier fans will not.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Here's the deal, John. I love that you bring up
- 22:58Speaker 2: those Nebraska stats. Here's who they played at home.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Who?
- 23:02Speaker 2: Nebraska.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Okay.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Because he thinks Nebraska is going to beat Indiana, and
- 23:05Speaker 2: he thinks Kentucky is going to beat LSU.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Whatever. Do you, John. But Nebraska at home has played
- 23:11Speaker 2: Bowling Green, Ohio, North Dakota, and Maryland. They played nobody.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I don't read anything into those home stats, John. I
- 23:21Speaker 2: really don't.
- 23:21Speaker 1: And I think you wouldn't read into the home stats
- 23:24Speaker 1: with IU, too, who they haven't really played anybody. No, absolutely.
- 23:27Speaker 1: You would be completely transparent about that, and I appreciate that.
- 23:31Speaker 1: One person texted in, Michael and Scoots, this is Austin
- 23:33Speaker 1: from Cordon. Understandably enough, what.
- 23:38Speaker 1: What Mark Pope has done so far isn't up to
- 23:41Speaker 1: the standards of Kentucky. Part of it isn't his fault
- 23:44Speaker 1: because of injuries, but I do feel like this is
- 23:47Speaker 1: the year for him to prove that he could be
- 23:50Speaker 1: the coach here. My question to you all is if
- 23:54Speaker 1: Mark Pope had brought this current team that he has
- 23:58Speaker 1: now in for his first year, Would we be excited
- 24:03Speaker 1: about this team? And do you think that this team
- 24:06Speaker 1: is better than the team he had his first season?
- 24:09Speaker 1: That's a great question right there. I'm going to tell
- 24:12Speaker 1: you right now, Austin from Cordon. Yes, we would be
- 24:18Speaker 1: ecstatic about this team if this was his first team.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Because it would be year one and there's the unknown.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Yes. Oh, that's part of it. But I think he
- 24:26Speaker 1: means from a talent level. Because the talent level his
- 24:30Speaker 1: first season wasn't as good as potentially this team right here.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And I think, hold on, the combination of Malachi with Ndiaye,
- 24:42Speaker 1: with Zoom Diallo, I think, and I'll answer the question
- 24:45Speaker 1: right now, I do think this team is more talented
- 24:47Speaker 1: than the previous two that he's had. But you can't
- 24:51Speaker 1: use the injury excuse anymore. I get it. He's had
- 24:56Speaker 1: those injuries. That has been a bit of a pill
- 24:59Speaker 1: for Mark Pope, but you cannot make that as an excuse.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Everybody has injuries. Go ahead, Justin.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I was just curious where you rank this team in
- 25:07Speaker 2: terms of talent out of the three he's had. Out
- 25:09Speaker 2: of the three?
- 25:10Speaker 1: I'd say number one.
- 25:11Speaker 2: And then where would you put the other two?
- 25:13Speaker 1: First year is number two, and last year is number three.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I think that's the correct ranking.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Uh, but, uh, yeah, I, I just, I
- 25:22Speaker 1: think definitely because you got, uh, you look at year
- 25:25Speaker 1: two of Malachi, this is going to be a big
- 25:27Speaker 1: step for him. And I think he's going to prove
- 25:29Speaker 1: us all right.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Not wrong.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Right. I think he is going to be a force.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I think the addition of Milan Momchilovich is a huge addition.
- 25:38Speaker 2: I'm so proud how you say that. Oh, really? I'm
- 25:41Speaker 2: so proud of you.
- 25:43Speaker 1: How about Ousmane Ndiaye? How do you like that?
- 25:46Speaker 2: I think it's Ndiaye.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Oh, it is? It's Ndiaye?
- 25:48Speaker 2: I think that's how you pronounce it.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I'm saying it wrong?
- 25:51Speaker 2: I think so.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Oh, man. I don't know. I was so proud of
- 25:54Speaker 1: myself with that one.
- 25:55Speaker 2: I mean, you're close, so I'm proud too.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I know. You can say all you want. I suck
- 25:59Speaker 1: at names. I just suck at them. I wish I didn't.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I wish I could remember names, and I wish I
- 26:05Speaker 1: could pronounce them correctly. But, by the way, I had
- 26:08Speaker 1: a dream last night.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 26:11Speaker 1: That a truck backed up in the front yard of
- 26:13Speaker 1: my house and I'm in the bedroom and I saw
- 26:17Speaker 1: this happening and he puts it in full blown reverse
- 26:20Speaker 1: going as fast as he can to blast through my
- 26:22Speaker 1: front door. Oh, I did not sleep well the rest
- 26:26Speaker 1: of the night. What does that mean for your race?
- 26:28Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 26:29Speaker 1: What does it mean for my race? What does it
- 26:30Speaker 1: mean for my, uh, for the horse tomorrow? I mean,
- 26:33Speaker 1: what does it mean for a lot of things?
- 26:35Speaker 2: I loved.
- 26:36Speaker 1: See, I don't. The rest of the night, I sat
- 26:40Speaker 1: there and thought about, how do I escape? And the
- 26:43Speaker 1: only thing I can think of is, well, I'm going
- 26:45Speaker 1: to the closet and hiding. I'm like, that's the dumbest
- 26:47Speaker 1: thing you could ever do. But isn't that fun?
- 26:49Speaker 2: You're basically watching a movie while you sleep. No, it
- 26:52Speaker 2: was disturbing to me the rest of the night. So
- 26:54Speaker 2: I thought, well, maybe I should escape through the bedroom
- 26:58Speaker 2: or the master bedroom, a master bathroom window. And I'm like, no,
- 27:03Speaker 2: fat boy can't get through that window. That's what I
- 27:06Speaker 2: thought about. I thought, oh, I'm going to get halfway
- 27:08Speaker 2: through it.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Be stuck. They're going to come get me and drag
- 27:11Speaker 1: me out. Really? And then I thought, well, the bad
- 27:14Speaker 1: guys are going to come around the other side of
- 27:15Speaker 1: the house. They'll catch me sneaking out the back window.
- 27:18Speaker 1: This is going through my mind all night long. And
- 27:21Speaker 1: that's why I love dreams, because where does that even
- 27:23Speaker 1: come from? How are you sitting there basically in another
- 27:27Speaker 1: dimension while you're asleep?
- 27:29Speaker 2: I don't know. They're just so fun.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Well, what scares me is sometimes I have dreams that
- 27:34Speaker 1: come true. It's like, I don't want this to happen.
- 27:37Speaker 1: That doesn't happen for me. It doesn't? No. I have,
- 27:40Speaker 1: what do they call it? Deja vu. I'll have deja
- 27:43Speaker 1: vu every.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Now and then. Oh, I have deja vu all the time.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Well, that's part of it right there.
- 27:46Speaker 2: It might be, yeah. I've always wondered where deja vu
- 27:49Speaker 2: comes from. Maybe that's it.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know. Or as Billy Crystal said, deja ju.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Which I thought was funny. I mean, he's Jewish and
- 27:58Speaker 1: he said that, but... Anyway, it was a funny joke.
- 28:01Speaker 1: But no, I am worried about that. I'm so hyper,
- 28:04Speaker 1: yet I'm scared, okay? That's how my day has gone
- 28:07Speaker 1: so far. It's ridiculous. But all right, let's get back
- 28:09Speaker 1: to the Whiskey Thief text line. One person said, just
- 28:12Speaker 1: checking in. Wanted to make sure you were going to
- 28:15Speaker 1: be on the radio this week. Yes, I've been on
- 28:24Speaker 1: the every day this week. What's the problem? Oh, my gosh.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I love you. You make me smile so much.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Are you a horseman or a radio horse, Michael?
- 28:31Speaker 1: Well, I know. I know. But, you know, I'm having fun.
- 28:35Speaker 1: So there you are. Let me get to this one
- 28:37Speaker 1: because this guy has really been going at it. I
- 28:39Speaker 1: appreciate that. If you're scared, take your butt to church. See,
- 28:43Speaker 1: I love that. That, you know, Will Stein said that
- 28:47Speaker 1: on this show when he came on for the first time.
- 28:50Speaker 1: And I had to take a minute. What did you
- 28:52Speaker 1: just say? I think I did ask him, say that again.
- 28:56Speaker 1: And he said, if you're scared, go to church. And
- 29:00Speaker 1: I thought, that's a great line right there. Have you
- 29:02Speaker 1: ever heard anybody say that?
- 29:04Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Okay.
- 29:05Speaker 1: All right.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Good.
- 29:05Speaker 2: That's common for you.
- 29:06Speaker 1: If Michael is going to say, oh, my, then he
- 29:08Speaker 1: has to say it like George Takai does. Who's that?
- 29:14Speaker 2: I have no idea who that is.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Text her. I'll have to look that up. I don't
- 29:19Speaker 1: know how he says that.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Oh, my.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Okay. If the Rays win, does the battleship go tarps off?
- 29:27Speaker 1: That's a great question.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Yeah, do they?
- 29:32Speaker 1: Can you imagine me in Yankeeville taking my shirt off
- 29:38Speaker 1: and showing this big, and I got to have a
- 29:40Speaker 1: beer in my hand, just to let you know. I am... Oh, yes.
- 29:43Speaker 1: If the Rays win, I'm going tarps off. I just
- 29:47Speaker 1: got to have... You got to have the full experience there.
- 29:50Speaker 1: And I want all the Yankee fans just yelling at me.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Are you ready for George Takai? Okay, who is he? Oh,
- 29:57Speaker 1: my God. Oh, that's the guy from Star Trek. Isn't
- 30:03Speaker 1: that the Asian guy from Star Trek? Yeah, but this
- 30:06Speaker 1: clip's from Third Rock from the Sun. Oh, it is? Yeah. Well,
- 30:09Speaker 1: it's the actor from there, so I'm thinking of the
- 30:11Speaker 1: right guy.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I believe so.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Oh, my. How's that sound?
- 30:14Speaker 2: There you go.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Someone needs to put the phone down and just enjoy
- 30:18Speaker 1: the Cheetos.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Huh?
- 30:22Speaker 1: I don't get it.
- 30:22Speaker 2: I don't get it either.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 30:24Speaker 3: All right.
- 30:25Speaker 2: There you go. I had some Cheetos last night.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Oh, did you really?
- 30:28Speaker 2: Matter of fact.
- 30:28Speaker 1: 48 Handley said, Tar Heels kind of slid into mediocrity
- 30:34Speaker 1: in recent years. Phil Ford isn't walking through that door.
- 30:37Speaker 1: For Kentucky, I like Wilkins. You do too, Justin. I do.
- 30:42Speaker 1: I'm not that excited about Moreno. I don't know why
- 30:45Speaker 1: you should be, 48 Handley. He has to prove it
- 30:48Speaker 1: to me. Give me the over on IU's total victories
- 30:53Speaker 1: this year.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Oh, my.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Okay, Deja Vu was a strip club at Longfield and
- 30:59Speaker 1: Taylor Boulevard, yes.
- 31:01Speaker 2: I'm so familiar with the address, 48 Andrews. We're not
- 31:05Speaker 2: going any further with that, okay? Just leave it there,
- 31:08Speaker 2: but yeah, I....
- 31:11Speaker 1: I like Alex Wilkins. I mean, listen, I am just
- 31:15Speaker 1: keeping myself intact until the season starts. I want to
- 31:19Speaker 1: get excited about this team, but I think last year
- 31:23Speaker 1: really messed it up for me for basketball. I have
- 31:26Speaker 1: to wait and see. And listen, like I said a
- 31:29Speaker 1: couple of minutes ago, I love Mark Pope's enthusiasm, but
- 31:34Speaker 1: I got to have him prove it to me first.
- 31:37Speaker 1: And I think you're the same way, Justin. Yeah.
- 31:39Speaker 2: And it makes sense to be that way. But also,
- 31:42Speaker 2: on the flip side of that, you're a fan. You know?
- 31:46Speaker 2: I mean, as a fan, shouldn't you allow yourself to
- 31:49Speaker 2: dream big in the offseason, regardless of what you've seen
- 31:53Speaker 2: in past seasons?
- 31:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Because that's what makes being a fan fun. Right. You
- 31:57Speaker 2: get to go into every year just dreaming about what
- 32:00Speaker 2: could possibly happen.
- 32:01Speaker 1: You're exactly right. So, all right, we got to take
- 32:03Speaker 1: another break. I have been on time today. I'm doing
- 32:05Speaker 1: a great job.
- 32:06Speaker 2: 502-384-1450.
- 32:06Speaker 1: You want to call 502-414-1450. Keep those texts coming in.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I'm going to get to your other one here because
- 32:16Speaker 1: I'm going to switch it over.
- 32:17Speaker 2: It's football.
- 32:18Speaker 1: And I'm going to switch it over to some football
- 32:19Speaker 1: in a couple of minutes. But I still want to
- 32:21Speaker 1: talk a little more about basketball. Then we'll take all
- 32:25Speaker 1: of next hour talking basketball or football today. and get
- 32:29Speaker 1: you ready for it. Because we got today, we got
- 32:31Speaker 1: tomorrow to talk football, and we got Friday to talk football, okay?
- 32:34Speaker 1: We are going to talk about so much. So you
- 32:36Speaker 1: check in, Texter. I'm here. You come talk to me
- 32:39Speaker 1: about this football game. And then, unfortunately, you had to
- 32:44Speaker 1: say soccer yesterday, didn't you? You had to say soccer.
- 32:48Speaker 1: We'll talk about that, too. So stay right there. More
- 32:51Speaker 1: Just the Cats coming right up.
- 32:57Speaker 4: We'll be right back. That's a different.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Version. Good version, right? Yeah, I like it. Well, I've
- 33:54Speaker 1: always liked Tears for Fears, so everybody definitely wants to
- 33:57Speaker 1: rule the world. I can tell you, Will Stein wants
- 33:59Speaker 1: to rule the world right now, and he's succeeding as
- 34:01Speaker 1: far as Big Blue Nation. That's right. He's doing a
- 34:04Speaker 1: great job. All right, let's get back to this, and
- 34:06Speaker 1: then we will talk. I promise you, we're going to
- 34:08Speaker 1: talk to UK football in the second hour. But let's
- 34:11Speaker 1: talk about the rest of the season as far as
- 34:13Speaker 1: in conference for UK basketball. If you want to text
- 34:16Speaker 1: in 502-414-1450. The only thing as far as the conference
- 34:22Speaker 1: play I'm disappointed about is we're playing Florida one time.
- 34:26Speaker 1: And it's at Florida for the last game of the season.
- 34:31Speaker 1: They're the best team in the SEC. I want to
- 34:33Speaker 1: play the best team in the SEC. I'm kind of
- 34:35Speaker 1: different about that. But I'm kind of bummed that they
- 34:39Speaker 1: don't come to Lexington. Are you disappointed about that, or
- 34:44Speaker 1: you have no feeling either way?
- 34:45Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Really? No.
- 34:47Speaker 2: I mean, I guess it would be kind of cool
- 34:49Speaker 2: seeing Denzel Aberdeen come back.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Is he even going to play? Who knows?
- 34:54Speaker 1: I don't know. But I think as far as Denzel Aberdeen,
- 34:58Speaker 1: I think he would get a nice applause if he
- 35:00Speaker 1: was starting and it was going to be during the introductions.
- 35:02Speaker 1: I don't think anybody would boo him. Do you?
- 35:06Speaker 2: I think there would be a faction that would, yeah.
- 35:08Speaker 1: You think so?
- 35:08Speaker 2: Just because, let's see, last season didn't go the way
- 35:10Speaker 2: Kentucky fans thought it would for him.
- 35:13Speaker 1: But I don't think it's on him, though. I don't
- 35:16Speaker 1: think you put last season just on one player. And
- 35:19Speaker 1: I don't think it's Denzel Averdeen. But, all right, you
- 35:22Speaker 1: look at this and you think, okay, What is a
- 35:26Speaker 1: successful season for UK in the, let's just talk about losses.
- 35:32Speaker 1: How many losses can they sustain for the fan base
- 35:35Speaker 1: to be happy in conference play?
- 35:39Speaker 2: I don't know that there's a set number of losses.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I think it's more so about the seating.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Where does UK have to finish then in the SEC
- 35:49Speaker 1: as far as seating for the SEC tournament then? I
- 35:52Speaker 1: think that's a fair question. I would say top four.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Top four, really? I'm probably top three. I think finish
- 36:01Speaker 1: fourth in the conference, I think there's going to be
- 36:03Speaker 1: a faction of the fan base that's going to be like, yeah,
- 36:06Speaker 1: it's not good enough. But you think four is okay? Yeah.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I mean, it's a good SEC. Because clearly Florida's the
- 36:13Speaker 1: best team in the conference, right?
- 36:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd agree.
- 36:15Speaker 1: All right, who's two and three? Because right now you're
- 36:18Speaker 1: saying UK is four.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Definitely not LSU, I'll tell you that.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. Listen, I think they need to make
- 36:24Speaker 1: a rule that only teams that play LSU can only
- 36:27Speaker 1: start four players. And, I mean, you've got 15 players
- 36:31Speaker 1: on UK's roster, and they're going to play four players
- 36:34Speaker 1: on LSU. It's crazy. It is crazy. I mean, it's
- 36:38Speaker 1: not going to be a fun season for them, no
- 36:40Speaker 1: matter what happens. It's not going to be a fun
- 36:42Speaker 1: season for them. Who's going to be the second best
- 36:45Speaker 1: team in the conference?
- 36:47Speaker 2: That's a great question. That's where it gets a little
- 36:49Speaker 2: muddled for me. I don't know if it's going to
- 36:52Speaker 2: be Alabama, Texas. I know has gotten a lot of
- 36:55Speaker 2: hype this off season.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:57Speaker 1: And Tennessee, Tennessee.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:59Speaker 1: I guess.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Yeah. See, I left off Arkansas too. Yeah, but I
- 37:04Speaker 2: don't like the roster. We talked about that last week.
- 37:07Speaker 2: I don't think that's a good roster.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Maybe I'm missing something with Arkansas, but yeah, something about them.
- 37:13Speaker 1: I'm just, And, of course, February 20th, UK plays Arkansas
- 37:17Speaker 1: and Lexington. I think the glamour of Cal coming back
- 37:22Speaker 1: to Lexington, that's kind of over, isn't it? I mean,
- 37:25Speaker 1: it's nice he's coming back. Clearly, we hope we win,
- 37:29Speaker 1: but it's not going to be one of those do-or-die
- 37:31Speaker 1: type games. Is that fair to say? I think the
- 37:34Speaker 1: UofL game is bigger than the Arkansas game. If I
- 37:37Speaker 1: was completely honest, I would agree.
- 37:39Speaker 2: But anytime Cal comes back, it's going to be big.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Oh, no, no, no.
- 37:42Speaker 1: I'm not trying to discredit it. It'll be a big game,
- 37:46Speaker 1: but I don't think it's like as big as it
- 37:48Speaker 1: was the first year and last year, because I think
- 37:51Speaker 1: the first year he comes to Lexington back to Lexington
- 37:54Speaker 1: for the first time since he was head coach. And
- 37:56Speaker 1: then it's the first time we go to a little
- 38:00Speaker 1: or not little rock, um, Fayetteville to face him on
- 38:04Speaker 1: his brand new Coliseum. So I think that's kind of
- 38:10Speaker 1: that being enamored about that stuff. And we walked away
- 38:14Speaker 1: one in one. I think the fan base is okay
- 38:16Speaker 1: with it. I don't think they have to look at this. Oh,
- 38:19Speaker 1: we got to win this game. They want to win
- 38:21Speaker 1: this game, but it's not like, oh, if we lose it,
- 38:23Speaker 1: it's not as big a deal as it was the
- 38:25Speaker 1: first season. Am I wrong about that?
- 38:27Speaker 2: No, I tend to agree with you on that. But again,
- 38:30Speaker 2: every loss is going to be big, no matter who
- 38:32Speaker 2: it's against. Every loss is going to be bigger than
- 38:34Speaker 2: it needs to be.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Yeah, because I still think Tennessee is chomping at the
- 38:38Speaker 1: bit to play Kentucky.
- 38:39Speaker 2: By the way, Kentucky is fifth in the odds. Like
- 38:43Speaker 2: if we're talking about winning the championship, they're fifth in
- 38:45Speaker 2: the SEC.
- 38:47Speaker 1: So who are the other four teams?
- 38:48Speaker 2: You got Florida, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and then Kentucky. See,
- 38:54Speaker 2: I would agree with that. And then listen to this.
- 38:57Speaker 2: So you can get Kentucky at 35 to one. Can
- 39:00Speaker 2: you explain to me why LSU is 48-1, Alabama is 58-1?
- 39:08Speaker 2: That doesn't make any sense. Why is LSU even on
- 39:13Speaker 2: this list? They don't have a team.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Well, I guess they're predicting that the players that haven't
- 39:19Speaker 1: been approved to play are going to be playing. That's
- 39:21Speaker 1: the only thing I can think of.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Or that they're going to get some ballers off the streets.
- 39:25Speaker 1: There's nobody left. How do you do this? Seriously. School
- 39:29Speaker 1: has been in session for the last month. How do
- 39:32Speaker 1: you go back and say, oh, by the way, these
- 39:33Speaker 1: players are joining my school and they're going to start
- 39:37Speaker 1: class a month and a half later?
- 39:38Speaker 2: I don't think that's an option at this point. The
- 39:40Speaker 2: only thing I can figure out is you're going to
- 39:43Speaker 2: have to do what Tom Crean did at Indiana. You're
- 39:44Speaker 2: going to have to go into the rec center and
- 39:47Speaker 2: pick out a few guys to join the team.
- 39:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:49Speaker 1: What was that movie with Nick Nolte that had Rick
- 39:52Speaker 1: Pitino in it where he recruited all those players illegally
- 39:55Speaker 1: to play at some fictitious school? Do you remember that movie? Okay.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Blue Chips. Blue Chips. That's it. Blue Chips. And to me,
- 40:05Speaker 1: that's going to be the same situation. Shaquille O'Neal was
- 40:08Speaker 1: in that movie. Yep. Uh, but yeah, that was a
- 40:11Speaker 1: good movie by the way. It's going to be, it
- 40:13Speaker 1: has to be a situation like that. So, uh, we'll wait.
- 40:16Speaker 1: It's going to have to play Nick Nolte. Just telling
- 40:18Speaker 1: you right now, he's going to have to talk all
- 40:20Speaker 1: season with that. Good luck to him.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Uh, I, I, exactly. I think the same, uh, as
- 40:25Speaker 1: far as the worst team in the conference, it's not
- 40:28Speaker 1: going to be Vanderbilt. I'm surprised more people aren't talking
- 40:30Speaker 1: about Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt is going to be good. Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 40:34Speaker 1: And I, I almost put Vanderbilt, uh, Man, it's one
- 40:39Speaker 1: of those teams. They might have Kentucky on that list
- 40:42Speaker 1: as fifth. Vanderbilt's got to be right behind them. And
- 40:45Speaker 1: I agree with it. It's Florida number one, and I
- 40:47Speaker 1: think it's not even close with anybody else. Todd Golden's
- 40:51Speaker 1: got it going on in Florida, and good for him.
- 40:54Speaker 1: But I really think, man, I don't know why I
- 40:59Speaker 1: want to say this, but I'm almost putting Rick Barnes
- 41:02Speaker 1: and Tennessee ahead. I'm making them number two.
- 41:07Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 41:08Speaker 1: See, I don't either.
- 41:10Speaker 2: If Nate Ament didn't go to the draft, I'd be
- 41:12Speaker 2: with you on this, but I don't know why there's
- 41:14Speaker 2: belief in Tennessee.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I don't either. I still believe UK's going to sweep
- 41:18Speaker 1: them again this year, and it's just going to drive
- 41:20Speaker 1: Ball Nation just crazy because Rick Barnes can't figure a
- 41:23Speaker 1: way to beat Kentucky. And I truly believe that. I
- 41:28Speaker 1: don't believe in Texas. I don't think Texas is going
- 41:30Speaker 1: to be that good.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Yeah, me neither.
- 41:32Speaker 1: But for Kentucky to succeed, I think they have to
- 41:36Speaker 1: finish third in the SEC. Now, you said fourth. Now,
- 41:39Speaker 1: how deep into the– forget about the SEC. I think
- 41:44Speaker 1: it's nice if they make it to the semis. And
- 41:49Speaker 1: that will be successful if they make the semis.
- 41:52Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm kind of with– so Steven Peake
- 41:54Speaker 2: has been saying all offseason that what For him, at least,
- 42:00Speaker 2: what makes this a successful season? You have to win something.
- 42:04Speaker 2: You have to win either the SEC regular season, got
- 42:07Speaker 2: to win the SEC tournament, or you have to win
- 42:10Speaker 2: the big tournament. And I'm kind of right there with
- 42:13Speaker 2: him on that. To be considered a successful season, you've
- 42:17Speaker 2: got to win something.
- 42:18Speaker 1: I mean, realistically, I just don't see this team. Now, granted,
- 42:21Speaker 1: I said it a few minutes ago because I thought
- 42:23Speaker 1: that was a great question by one of the texters.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Do I see this as the most talented team that
- 42:27Speaker 1: Mark Pope has had at UK? Yes, bar none. But
- 42:31Speaker 1: do I see them winning the conference? I don't. Realistically,
- 42:36Speaker 1: I do not see this team winning it.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Well, then you have to get to the Elite Eight.
- 42:40Speaker 1: So then with the SEC tournament, I see them getting to...
- 42:45Speaker 1: I don't see them winning the tournament.
- 42:48Speaker 2: I mean, who knows? The tournament's so wonky.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Oh, it is. I'm talking SEC now.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Yeah, no.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah. But you're right. It is wonky, and it's
- 42:56Speaker 1: in a wonky place, Nashville, Tennessee. Wonkiest place in the world.
- 43:01Speaker 1: What was the word that the guy used yesterday? Zibity? Skibity. Skibity.
- 43:07Speaker 1: There you go. I was close. I mean, maybe the
- 43:10Speaker 1: baby boomers are using gibity. But I said skibity right there, right?
- 43:15Speaker 1: I look at this and think, okay, as far as
- 43:17Speaker 1: the NCAA tournament, for it to be successful, I think
- 43:22Speaker 1: they have to be an Elite 18. Yeah, I agree. So,
- 43:25Speaker 1: there you go.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Got to push further than you ever have.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so, too. Uh, but, uh, uh, John here, look, uh,
- 43:33Speaker 1: coach Pope needs the basketball cats should have no more, uh,
- 43:37Speaker 1: than six to seven losses. And I believe he needs
- 43:39Speaker 1: to get the cats to no higher than three or
- 43:42Speaker 1: four seed in the NCAA tournament. And he needs to
- 43:45Speaker 1: make a deep run. So, uh, go get it done
- 43:48Speaker 1: or pack your bags coach. Wow. That's, that's pretty strong
- 43:53Speaker 1: from John, right? He's always Mr. Uh, he's going to
- 43:56Speaker 1: get it done, but that's man. All right. How many
- 44:00Speaker 1: losses do you think UK basketball will have this season?
- 44:05Speaker 1: Let me do some quick math. I think they'll have nine.
- 44:07Speaker 4: Nine?
- 44:08Speaker 1: Yeah. I think they'll have nine losses.
- 44:10Speaker 2: That's not what you're looking for.
- 44:11Speaker 1: No, it's not. Again, I'm trying to be realistic. And
- 44:15Speaker 1: I think that's friendly. I really do.
- 44:18Speaker 2: I'm going to say two in the non-conference. I'll stick
- 44:21Speaker 2: with that prediction.
- 44:22Speaker 1: All right. We'll go.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they're going to lose a lot more
- 44:26Speaker 1: in the SEC.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Let's see. One, two, three, four.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I appreciate you counting while we're on the air.
- 44:32Speaker 2: I'll go eight.
- 44:33Speaker 1: You'll go eight? Well, you were giving me a hard time,
- 44:36Speaker 1: and you're only one game off for me.
- 44:38Speaker 2: SEC's tough.
- 44:39Speaker 1: It is tough. It's going to be a really tough conference.
- 44:41Speaker 1: And I think some of the toughest games are going
- 44:43Speaker 1: to be at Tennessee. I think the Alabama game in
- 44:46Speaker 1: Lexington is going to be tough. You've got to play
- 44:48Speaker 1: at Texas. I think even the Vanderbilt game down in
- 44:52Speaker 1: Nashville is going to be tough. And then you finish
- 44:57Speaker 1: the season with Florida.
- 44:58Speaker 2: But eight losses isn't bad.
- 45:00Speaker 1: It's not?
- 45:02Speaker 2: No, it's not bad.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I think nine, you're getting a little close there. Yeah,
- 45:06Speaker 1: I mean, you want to avoid ten. Yeah, you definitely
- 45:08Speaker 1: don't want to get into double-digit losses. If you do,
- 45:11Speaker 1: then this is not good. It's not good at all. Anyway,
- 45:15Speaker 1: all right, we've got to take a break. When we
- 45:16Speaker 1: come back, we're going to talk football, okay? So get
- 45:19Speaker 1: yourself ready. I want to see you text in 502-414-1450
- 45:21Speaker 1: or if you want to call 384- And we're going
- 45:26Speaker 1: to talk about this LSU game coming up. And, yeah,
- 45:29Speaker 1: we'll talk about that soccer game. I mean, you're killing me.
- 45:31Speaker 1: You had to bring up. Why did you bring up soccer?
- 45:34Speaker 1: They would have won if you had not brought it
- 45:36Speaker 1: up yesterday. Yeah, they would have.
- 45:37Speaker 2: They went up against a juggernaut.
- 45:38Speaker 1: All right, fine. A juggernaut. Come on. Zippity. All right. Zippity.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Whatever it is. I'll see you in a minute. Hour
- 45:45Speaker 1: two coming right up.
- 45:48Speaker 4: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 46:05Speaker 1: All right, now we're number two. And I'm looking forward
- 46:09Speaker 1: to this. I do. As soon as I'm done, I'm sorry, Justin.
- 46:13Speaker 1: I got to take off.
- 46:14Speaker 2: That's fine.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Okay, I'm sorry.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Are you nervous at all about leaving here at 10
- 46:18Speaker 2: and your flight takes off at 1130?
- 46:19Speaker 1: Or 1150? No, why?
- 46:24Speaker 2: They always tell you you should be at the airport
- 46:25Speaker 2: two hours before, but I know that I've flown out
- 46:28Speaker 2: of Louisville enough times to know that it goes pretty quick.
- 46:31Speaker 2: It does.
- 46:31Speaker 1: I wouldn't be worried about it either, but if you
- 46:33Speaker 1: have just a minor setback. Well, I would be worried
- 46:37Speaker 1: if I had to park a car, but my son's
- 46:39Speaker 1: picking me up. My wife dropped me off, and we're
- 46:42Speaker 1: just 10 minutes away from the airport. I'll get through.
- 46:45Speaker 1: TSA fairly quickly because I'm the TSA pre, whatever you
- 46:48Speaker 1: call that thing. And that gets me through there fast.
- 46:51Speaker 2: No big deal.
- 46:52Speaker 1: No, it doesn't. No, it isn't a big deal. Come on, man.
- 46:57Speaker 1: One person texted in. Let me get to the right
- 47:00Speaker 1: one here. I listened to Nick Roush podcast with LSU
- 47:05Speaker 1: media guy. LSU had a lot of injuries. That is true.
- 47:10Speaker 1: And so do we when it comes to linebackers. That's
- 47:14Speaker 1: one thing Will Stein's been talking about. We are thin
- 47:17Speaker 1: when it comes to linebackers, and that sucks right there.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I'm hoping they can step it up and figure it
- 47:23Speaker 1: out somehow. But I like that they are as well,
- 47:28Speaker 1: but it just makes it even, doesn't it? I mean,
- 47:30Speaker 1: they're probably, let's be honest, LSU's probably deeper than UK.
- 47:35Speaker 2: I would say so.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Yeah. And that's going to be the difference right there. Now,
- 47:39Speaker 1: do I think UK can win? Absolutely. I firmly believe
- 47:43Speaker 1: UK can win. Do I think they will? We'll talk
- 47:46Speaker 1: about that later. I give them a chance at winning. Yeah.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I know you do, Justin.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know how you couldn't.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. I almost wish this game was at LSU.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Seems like they're playing better on the road than they
- 48:01Speaker 1: are at home. Right. I mean, the only loss they
- 48:03Speaker 1: had was Alabama in Lexington at Commonwealth Stadium. Hey, by
- 48:08Speaker 1: the way, I like this team. They have height and
- 48:11Speaker 1: can shoot. Talking about the basketball team. Pope can coach.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Look at first-year wins, if you can remember. I do.
- 48:19Speaker 1: And I'm glad you think Pope can coach. I'm worried
- 48:23Speaker 1: about it. I just... I want... You and I were
- 48:27Speaker 1: talking about what TJ Walker was saying, what, yesterday? Mm-hmm.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Repeat what he said yesterday on Kentucky Sports. I'm sorry,
- 48:38Speaker 1: Kentucky Roll Call. Basically, just how.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Mark Pope this off season is kind of, he's kind
- 48:44Speaker 2: of changed his persona a little bit. Like if you
- 48:46Speaker 2: think back to big blue madness, like standing up there
- 48:48Speaker 2: on the, on that big elevated thing, and he's just
- 48:51Speaker 2: got his arms crossed with this mean look on his
- 48:53Speaker 2: face and he's growing out the beard. He's, he's got
- 48:56Speaker 2: the hair growing out a little bit, almost like he's just,
- 48:59Speaker 2: he's trying to become this, this hard ass for a better,
- 49:01Speaker 2: for lack of a better word. And, TJ was basically
- 49:04Speaker 2: just saying, I don't want him to be like that.
- 49:06Speaker 2: I don't need my coach to change. I just want
- 49:09Speaker 2: the team to play like that. Right. The persona that
- 49:12Speaker 2: he's trying to put out, if the team plays with,
- 49:16Speaker 2: that's for the best.
- 49:17Speaker 1: See, I agree.
- 49:19Speaker 2: I thought it was. was a really good thing. And
- 49:20Speaker 2: that's not word for word. I probably did a crappy
- 49:23Speaker 2: job of passing that along. No, but I understand what
- 49:25Speaker 2: you're saying and what he was trying to say. And
- 49:27Speaker 2: I couldn't agree more with that. I mean, it's like,
- 49:29Speaker 2: what are you doing? Just be you. Go out there
- 49:32Speaker 2: and coach. Now, if you need to adjust the way
- 49:34Speaker 2: you coach, go out there and adjust the way you coach.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Don't adjust the way you look.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Just... Stop trying to change your persona. That's the
- 49:42Speaker 1: only part. I would agree with it. It's like, stop.
- 49:45Speaker 1: You're looking goofy. But, hey, by the way, I like
- 49:48Speaker 1: this team. Okay, I just read that. So there you go.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Let me get to this one. I think they still
- 49:53Speaker 1: like it. I'm glad he doesn't. I think he still
- 49:55Speaker 1: likes Pope, too. One person said, someone needs to put
- 50:01Speaker 1: the– no, we got that. While kind of negative from John,
- 50:04Speaker 1: he must have gotten into a bad batch. Wow.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:11Speaker 1: That was true though. John's taking some heat this morning.
- 50:14Speaker 1: He's taking some heat the last week or so. I
- 50:17Speaker 1: mean the whole Mahomes putting Minchie up there with Mahomes
- 50:20Speaker 1: and Joe Montana was the greatest text ever. I'm just
- 50:23Speaker 1: telling you right now. And I loved it that John
- 50:26Speaker 1: said that he wants to be Darth Pope. what Mark
- 50:30Speaker 1: Pope wants to be.
- 50:30Speaker 2: There you go.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:31Speaker 2: It's Darth Pope. Perfect way to describe it.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't like all the all black look. I just,
- 50:38Speaker 1: I just, come on. Our school colors are blue and white.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Now you got to admit the black and the blue
- 50:43Speaker 1: together is pretty sweet.
- 50:45Speaker 3: It is.
- 50:45Speaker 1: And you know, the other non UK color I really
- 50:48Speaker 1: like is the blue with the gray. I don't like
- 50:52Speaker 1: the gray. See, I don't like black is my problem.
- 50:55Speaker 2: By the way, I can't believe I did not bring
- 50:57Speaker 2: this up earlier this week. Yes. The lineman, the defensive
- 51:01Speaker 2: lineman for Kentucky that was wearing the guardian cap on Saturday.
- 51:06Speaker 2: I cannot think of who it was.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Okay.
- 51:08Speaker 2: But they were wearing the chrome domes. And he didn't
- 51:12Speaker 2: have a chrome dome because of his guardian cap.
- 51:14Speaker 1: No. It was just gray.
- 51:15Speaker 4: Ugh.
- 51:18Speaker 1: See, you didn't realize that? I missed that totally. Yeah,
- 51:22Speaker 1: I did.
- 51:23Speaker 2: Every time they were out there defensively, I was like, man,
- 51:25Speaker 2: this guy just looks funny. Everybody else is wearing chrome domes,
- 51:28Speaker 2: and he's got his little gray helmet. Are they required
- 51:31Speaker 2: to wear those once they have a concussion? Is that
- 51:34Speaker 2: what- I don't think so. No, I think he- It's
- 51:35Speaker 2: just the elect to do that themselves. I think the
- 51:38Speaker 2: players can choose to do that themselves. You think his
- 51:40Speaker 2: mom makes them? Is that what it does?
- 51:41Speaker 1: Maybe. So when you see an NFL player or college
- 51:45Speaker 1: player out there wearing it, you think it's the mom
- 51:47Speaker 1: behind all this and saying, honey, I need you to
- 51:50Speaker 1: wear that guardian helmet on top of your helmet.
- 51:52Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure there are cases of that.
- 51:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 51:55Speaker 2: But majority, no, I would say not.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Especially not in the NFL.
- 51:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:59Speaker 2: You think you're going to be playing in the NFL
- 52:01Speaker 2: and your mom's still telling you what to do?
- 52:02Speaker 1: Yes.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Come on.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Absolutely. Listen, my mom.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Mom, I'll give you a million dollars if you shut
- 52:08Speaker 2: the hell up.
- 52:09Speaker 1: No, that's not the way you talk to your mom.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Stop that. No, my mom was always my mom until
- 52:15Speaker 1: the day she passed away. She would tell me everything
- 52:19Speaker 1: I should and shouldn't be doing. And I loved every
- 52:22Speaker 1: second of it. My dad was the same way.
- 52:24Speaker 2: I guess my mom tries to do that, but I
- 52:26Speaker 2: don't listen to her.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. You're telling your mom to shut the
- 52:31Speaker 1: hell up.
- 52:31Speaker 2: I mean, if she offers a suggestion or something like
- 52:35Speaker 2: you need a haircut. Mom, it's my life. I'll live
- 52:37Speaker 2: it the way I want.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. That's what they should put on your tombstone. Mom,
- 52:42Speaker 1: it's my life. Oh, my gosh. I love reading the tombstones.
- 52:49Speaker 1: There was one that was done by a former actor,
- 52:53Speaker 1: Jack Lemmon, and he was all kinds of great movies,
- 52:56Speaker 1: by the way. Jack Lemmon, on his tombstone, put, now
- 53:00Speaker 1: starring in, and then dot, dot, dot. I thought it
- 53:05Speaker 1: was hilarious.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I do. When people post funny tombstones, I think it's fun.
- 53:11Speaker 1: To have fun after your life is done is even,
- 53:15Speaker 1: I think, entertains so many people out there. With UK's
- 53:19Speaker 1: success so far this year, is Will Stein ahead of
- 53:23Speaker 1: schedule right now as far as where he predicted or
- 53:28Speaker 1: we predicted?
- 53:29Speaker 2: Where we thought he'd be? Is that a real question?
- 53:32Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 53:33Speaker 2: Do you think he's– I'm asking you. Don't make fun
- 53:35Speaker 2: of me. I'm making fun of you.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 53:39Speaker 2: There's not a person alive that would say no to that.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Yes, he's ahead of schedule. You think so. I wonder
- 53:46Speaker 1: if Will Stein would say that, though.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Maybe not.
- 53:51Speaker 1: Do you think U.K. fans are starting to believe in Kentucky? Again,
- 53:55Speaker 1: another– That they can be a legitimate SEC contender?
- 53:58Speaker 2: This year, no. But in future years, yeah, absolutely. I
- 54:03Speaker 2: think people are thinking that. There's people that think that
- 54:06Speaker 2: for this year. Well, exactly.
- 54:08Speaker 1: I think the fun part is that this game is
- 54:10Speaker 1: sold out. It sold out right after the show was
- 54:13Speaker 1: over yesterday. And I'm curious. Do you think this will
- 54:18Speaker 1: be the biggest home atmosphere since the Alabama game or
- 54:24Speaker 1: since even a game before that? from another season. I'm
- 54:29Speaker 1: trying to think. I really think the biggest home game
- 54:35Speaker 1: atmosphere was not the Alabama game. I really believe it
- 54:40Speaker 1: was the 2018 Georgia game, the week after UK beat
- 54:46Speaker 1: Florida in Gainesville. That, to me, was the biggest Commonwealth
- 54:52Speaker 1: Stadium football atmosphere I've ever experienced. What do you think?
- 54:58Speaker 1: I don't think this one will top it. I do
- 54:59Speaker 1: think the– Top which one? The Alabama or the– I
- 55:03Speaker 1: think it'll top Alabama. So do I.
- 55:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't think it'll top any of the
- 55:08Speaker 2: others in history. The atmosphere is going to be awesome.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong. It's going to be loud. Fans
- 55:13Speaker 2: have all day to liquor up and come in and
- 55:15Speaker 2: have a good time.
- 55:16Speaker 1: I love how you see that.
- 55:17Speaker 2: It's going to be awesome.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Yes.
- 55:19Speaker 2: But I do think the rain maybe hinders things a
- 55:23Speaker 2: little bit.
- 55:23Speaker 1: I'm worried about that.
- 55:26Speaker 2: So, yeah, I don't know. I do think the atmosphere, though,
- 55:29Speaker 2: is going to be a lot of fun.
- 55:29Speaker 1: See, if the game sold out, I think they should
- 55:31Speaker 1: sell standing room only tickets.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Do you? Listen, I say fill it up as much
- 55:39Speaker 2: as you can. The fire marshal wouldn't agree with you,
- 55:42Speaker 2: but yeah.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Oh, is that what it is? Okay, the fire marshal's always...
- 55:45Speaker 1: We're not going to have a fire at a stadium
- 55:47Speaker 1: that's built by cement and steel.
- 55:49Speaker 2: But if you do, you're not going to have a
- 55:51Speaker 2: way to get out.
- 55:52Speaker 1: What is going to catch fire at Commonwealth Stadium? There's
- 55:55Speaker 1: not any couches there. Well, there are in one area.
- 55:58Speaker 2: Trash. Trash can catch on fire. Yeah, but it's a
- 56:00Speaker 2: small fire.
- 56:01Speaker 1: I mean, come on. Let's... Let the kids have their fun.
- 56:04Speaker 1: Let us get in there. Let all the students, I mean,
- 56:07Speaker 1: let every ticket sold, then let all the students come
- 56:10Speaker 1: in for free that want to come and let them
- 56:11Speaker 1: stand anywhere they want to stand. And I'm telling you,
- 56:14Speaker 1: here's the other thing. If UK does win this game,
- 56:18Speaker 1: they better let them storm the field. They better let
- 56:21Speaker 1: them storm the field. They will. I hope so. This
- 56:25Speaker 1: is Jay Betts' first one now. And I just, I
- 56:30Speaker 1: want to see, because if it was the other leadership,
- 56:34Speaker 1: I think they would have said, no, we're not storming
- 56:35Speaker 1: the field. It's like, come on, man. School can't afford it.
- 56:39Speaker 1: Let everybody that goes that game donate a dollar. And
- 56:43Speaker 1: then you've got a good portion of the fine right there, okay?
- 56:46Speaker 1: Just come on. Let them have fun. This is a
- 56:49Speaker 1: big deal. Will Stein will appreciate it. The coaching staff
- 56:52Speaker 1: will appreciate it. And guess what? The stinking players will
- 56:56Speaker 1: appreciate it.
- 56:57Speaker 2: And it gives a fun moment for everybody.
- 57:00Speaker 1: It does. It really does. So I look at this, though.
- 57:05Speaker 1: I know how much you do not like Lane Kiffin.
- 57:09Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin really hasn't done anything to UK. I don't
- 57:11Speaker 1: think our fan base dislikes him like Tennessee, clearly Ole Miss,
- 57:16Speaker 1: or Southern Cal. Did you see his interview from yesterday?
- 57:20Speaker 1: I didn't watch it earlier this week. No, I meant
- 57:23Speaker 1: to watch it, and I totally forgot. Tell me about it.
- 57:25Speaker 2: What an absolute loser. What did he do? He was
- 57:28Speaker 2: asked about the Kentucky defense.
- 57:30Speaker 1: Okay.
- 57:30Speaker 2: And he talked in circles. Yeah, I think they do
- 57:33Speaker 2: some really good things back there. It reminds me of
- 57:37Speaker 2: some Stoops defenses in the past. They do some really
- 57:40Speaker 2: good things back there. They try really hard. They fight.
- 57:44Speaker 2: They play hard. And I just think they do some
- 57:47Speaker 2: really good things back there. And it's like, Lane, you
- 57:50Speaker 2: just said a whole lot without saying anything.
- 57:52Speaker 1: In other words, he didn't know anything about the defense.
- 57:54Speaker 1: That's what it felt like. That's what it feels like
- 57:56Speaker 1: to me. The way you answer it is like he
- 57:58Speaker 1: had no idea how to answer the question.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Even under Stoops, they always fought hard, and they always
- 58:03Speaker 2: did some good things back there. What are you trying
- 58:05Speaker 2: to say, dude?
- 58:06Speaker 1: Yeah. See, I would have gone back and asked him,
- 58:09Speaker 1: can you explain what you mean by that? Can you
- 58:10Speaker 1: be a little more specific? He sounded like an idiot. Yeah,
- 58:13Speaker 1: that does. I mean, that's not a good look right there.
- 58:16Speaker 1: But I don't think the fan base, as far as
- 58:19Speaker 1: UK's fan base, dislikes him. No, because he's winning. They
- 58:26Speaker 1: won't like him once he starts losing. Well, I'm talking
- 58:29Speaker 1: about UK, not LSU's fan base. Now, I think LSU's
- 58:33Speaker 1: fan base will lose their mind if UK beats them.
- 58:36Speaker 1: Is there any way you think the fan base at
- 58:39Speaker 1: LSU is worried about this game Saturday night?
- 58:41Speaker 2: I would have to say yes. Majority are not, no.
- 58:45Speaker 2: You don't think so?
- 58:45Speaker 3: No.
- 58:46Speaker 4: Okay.
- 58:46Speaker 1: You think it's just coming up here. We're going to
- 58:48Speaker 1: have a good old time. People keep walking through the studio.
- 58:51Speaker 1: It's freaking me out. What is going on out there?
- 58:54Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Okay.
- 58:55Speaker 2: I'm in here in the studio. I don't know.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Can you go tell them they need to stop?
- 58:59Speaker 2: Yeah, hold on.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Hold on. Thank you. I really appreciate that. All right, quarterback.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Let's talk about Kenny Minchie for a minute. Uh, Kenny
- 59:06Speaker 1: continues to gain all kinds of tension after the South
- 59:09Speaker 1: Carolina comeback win, right? Is he becoming the face of
- 59:13Speaker 1: the program? I know you can say Will Stein, which
- 59:17Speaker 1: I agree with you wholeheartedly, but let's talk about player wise.
- 59:21Speaker 1: Do you think Kenny Minchie is becoming the face of
- 59:25Speaker 1: the UK football program? I think an argument could be
- 59:28Speaker 1: made for, uh, Kentucky Darby instead. See, I don't disagree
- 59:34Speaker 1: with that either because I'm kind of there as well.
- 59:37Speaker 1: It's almost like they got to figure a way to
- 59:41Speaker 1: market Kenny Square because that to me is the bigger
- 59:46Speaker 1: picture right there. Keeping Kenny Minchie one more year and
- 59:50Speaker 1: then having Kenny Darby come back however many more years
- 59:54Speaker 1: he can until he goes and gets drafted by the NFL.
- 59:58Speaker 1: Because he won't stay at any school for years if
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: he continues to be as productive as he has been
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: his true freshman year. I'm just hoping we figure a
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: way to make a team around Kenny Darby. I think
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: that's your link right there. So you think it's more
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Kenny Darby than Kenny Minchie?
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Yeah, because for me, at least, Minchie doesn't really stand out,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: which can be a good and a bad thing. A
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: bad thing for this argument, but a good thing for...
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: He's not making mistakes. Like, I don't know. He doesn't
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: do anything. Like, he's not going to have any spectacular
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: stat lines, I don't think. But he's going to take
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: care of the ball.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I don't know about that. I think he's already had
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: some tremendous stat lines.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: I mean, he's had good stat.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: He's not going to. He's had one interception this year.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: That's a huge stat line.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Let me rephrase it. I love it when you get
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: like that. He's not going to put up eye-popping stat lines.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: But he's going to take care of the football. So really,
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: it's not anything sexy. Now I know how your mom feels.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: I was ready for you to say, shut the hell up, Mom.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: I almost did. I almost did.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. Yeah, you don't need to repeat on
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: this show. We have enough content, okay? I'm turning my
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: mic off. It's been a fun morning. I'll be talking
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: to you tomorrow. I told you I was hyper today,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: and I'm so sorry. I should have hit you with
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: your own phrase. Let me finish. Yeah, you should have.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I love it. When you start acting like me, it
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: makes me so proud. I just want you to know.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: It makes me stressed. Oh, it shouldn't.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: We're just having fun. I don't want to act like
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Michael Bennett. Are you kidding me? No, yeah, you do.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: You want to act a little bit like me. Come on.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: All right, let me ask it this way then. Is
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Kenny Minchie already one of the most important UK quarterbacks
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: of the last decade? All right, before you answer your question,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Let me tell you the quarterbacks that I thought of
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: the last decade.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: They've all been horrible.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Well, I agree. Cutter Bowley, who played last year, you
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: got Will Levis, Terry Wilson, Steven Johnson, Drew Barker are
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: the ones that really stand out to me the last decade.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: The one that I would say that was good, and
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: there's only one, it's Will Levis, and I would just
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: say he was good. I really think Kenny Menchie is.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Or potentially. Not yet. But even though I asked the question,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: is he already? I mean, I kind of feel like
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: he is already the most important quarterback the last decade.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: I mean, I would say yes, just because he's the
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: quarterback now.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: And he's four and one.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: You can't argue that.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: Doing this type of assignment. That's not the word I'm
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: looking for. Doing this type of. It's a word I'm
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: looking for. Yeah, like, I don't really like comparing now
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: to the past.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Because there was... Not a lot of good memories in
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: the past.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: No, not at all. I mean, even with 2018, which
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: was our best season, and who knows how, that was
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: our 10-win season. That was Terry Wilson, and honestly, he
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: was just an okay quarterback, wasn't he? He wasn't a
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: good quarterback. He wasn't even coming close to being a
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: great quarterback. I mean, I love Steven Johnson. I think
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: he was an okay quarterback. Everybody says Will Levis. And
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: you've heard me say this numerous times. I just, he wasn't,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: he was a good quarterback. I think if he had
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: had a better line, he'd have been better than that.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: I just, I just think he was an okay, a
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: good quarterback. He wasn't great. I think Kenny Menchie has
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: the opportunity to be not just good, but a great quarterback.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but let's not put that pressure on him.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: I agree with you. Let him go out and continue
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: to do what he's doing. He's not listening right now.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: I love that guy. I heard he listens. Oh, he does?
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: All right. But the word is on the street. By
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: the way, this weekend, did you see where the UofL
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: commit Jahide Brown?
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: Is coming to the UK LSU game? Card fans are nervous.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: That's a big deal. I mean, that's the pride and
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: joy of one Vince Merrill, by the way.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: I think he's going, I want to say Florida and
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: Oklahoma as well. I wrote that down. I think it's
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Florida and Oklahoma.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Is it Florida and Oklahoma? I didn't think it was Florida.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: I think he just wrapped up a visit to Florida.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Okay. He's going to Oklahoma October 17th, and he's going
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: to Texas October 24th. I think he just wrapped up
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: a visit. Is he going to stay? No. Yeah, see,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: I don't think so either.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Nope, he's not.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: With the way the season has gone right now for UofL,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: I think this Christian Academy, and by the way, my
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: alma mater, Christian Academy, shout out to Cal. Let's go.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Fist high. Yeah. But no, I don't think he's going
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: to say committed UofL. I mean, with him looking at
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: these three schools, and who, all right, let's look at that.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: Who do you think has the best shot? I don't
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: think it's Oklahoma. I think it's going to be between
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Texas and UK. I think Kentucky. And the only reason
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: I say UK- It's definitely because of Will Stein, the
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: success we've had so far this year, but it's close
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: to home, too. I get the feeling he wants to
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: stay close to Louisville. And so what's the next best step?
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: If you're not going to commit to UofL, guess what?
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Come on over. And listen.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Well, technically, he did commit to UofL.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Well, yeah.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: You're not going to stay committed. Right, right. No, I
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: think it's Kentucky.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: I do, too, because you look at– You look at
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Kenny Darby and it's real easy to say, well, look
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: at Kenny Darby's doing. You could come to Kentucky and
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: be a part of the Kenny Darby celebration bus. We
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: have a seat for you in that bus right now.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: And I think that's an easy sell. Thank goodness it's
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: yard cutting day. I know, but anyway. All right, we've
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: got to take another break. 502-384-1450. You want to call 502-414-1450.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: You want to text him. We'll get to your text
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: as soon as we get back. Stay right there. Two
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: more segments. Not just one, two more segments of Just
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: the Cats coming right up.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: Live and forget Now that the day is over I
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: got a new sensation Perfect moments When something's.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't like watching myself on YouTube, just to
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: let you know. I don't like it. God, who is
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: the old guy up there and the other guy with
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: the backwards hat on? So, anyway. All right, then.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: You can't consistently watch it. You just got to do
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: a little peek over every now and then.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Really? Okay. All right, then. Yeah, it's really frustrating. Okay.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: And it's like 40 seconds long. And it's like, okay.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: I mean, I talked about this a long time ago.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: Come on, Bennett. Get it together.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: So.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Anyway, it's like, good gosh. And then one of my
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: closest friends is texting me at the same time. I'm
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: listening to you. Okay, Mike Snyder, thank you. I appreciate that.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Shout out, Mike. Yeah, he's great. I mean, that guy
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: is so cool. So he's a guy I definitely like
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: to live vicariously through. So he's great.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Oh, kind of like me with you.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: Absolutely. Wait a minute. I live vicariously through you? No,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: I live vicariously through you. Oh, you do? Why is that?
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Because you just get to do all this fun stuff
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: that I'll, quite frankly, never be able to do.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Now, don't say that. What experiences that I go through
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: you would like to experience? Going to a playoff game
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: would be a lot of fun. Oh, really?
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: I mean, owning horses, going to these races.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: That'd be a lot of fun.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Well, then you need to go to the races with me.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Having a house in Florida you can pop into whenever
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: you want.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: All right. Now, let's not go that far. Let's keep
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: a lot of that stuff to just you and me, okay?
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Well, I mean, everyone knows that.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: Well, I'll keep it to us when everybody else already knows.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Um, one person said, uh, the black Letterman jacket is
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: cool that Mark Pope, uh, last weekend, but the jacket
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: can't give you something if it's not, uh, inside you already. See,
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I agree with that. You can't fake that kind of stuff.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: But, uh, all right. Yeah. My buddy Mike's listening. All right,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Mike Snyder. I'm talking about you anyway. All right. I
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: can talk bad about Mike Snyder too. He's done some
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: crazy stuff. No, no, no, no. I'll never forget the
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: time he had a little too much. Uh, happy drinks
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: one night. Yeah. Let's hear it. And we're at Cunningham's
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: by the Creek where Harrods Creek is. It's a great
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: restaurant by the way. All right. And Mike was dared Mike.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: And this is like February, March. So no, nothing's warm
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: out there. I want to see you swim to the
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: opposite side of Harrods Creek and back. Whoa. He proceeds
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: in the middle of February. I mean, he didn't have
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: a strip of clothes on and swim all the way across,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: not realizing there was a tree stump where he was
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: diving in. He hits his forehead with a tree stump,
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: continues to swim all the way across Harrods Creek and back. Oh, yeah.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: That's my buddy Mike there. So, yeah.
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: What a guy.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: There you go. He's fun to hang out. And, boy,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: is he into the horses as much as me. So, yeah,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: we're into it in a huge way. One person hasn't
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: texted me since September. I appreciate you coming back in.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: That's a whole month ago. There you go. LSU can
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: catch on fire there. Ayo!
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: That's true. Good point.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Yeah, they can, and yes, they can. What if a
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: school wanted to distract Lane Kiffin and invited his former
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: girlfriend to come to the ballgame?
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Just throw a frat party. He'll be there.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: Oh, you think that too? Could that be the distraction?
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: Yeah, tell him there's not going to be all these
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: sorority girls there.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: He's in.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: All right. One person said storming the field will cost 500,000.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: That goes to LSU directly. I'm okay with that.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: Isn't it 250 the first time?
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: No, no, no. They're calling it from last year, too.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Once you started it, you start accumulating it every year.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: It doesn't start all over, which I think is dumb. Yeah,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: but you didn't storm the field last year, did you?
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: I thought it started at 250. No, we didn't storm
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: the field last year. When was the last time UK
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: stormed the field? So, yeah, it does. And that's the
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: other part that they change. They change the fact that
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: the money goes directly to the other school, which I like.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: But on the other hand, can't we just do away
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: with all this? What is so bad about storming the field, Justin? Seriously,
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: what is so bad about that? It's dangerous. How's... There
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: is a way to protect the coaches and the players.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: They did up it to 500,000. Yeah. And who was
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: the last team that we did?
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: Oh, I couldn't tell you.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: That's okay. Don't worry about it.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: I just feel like let– That's a Corey Price question.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: Okay. Let teams, let fan bases, let student bodies have
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: their fun. They're not going out there to hurt anybody.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: They just want to celebrate.
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: What– Looks like 2021, when y'all beat Florida, you start.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: Okay, so five years ago, and now it's still $ 500, 000?
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: I mean, come on.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: It was only $ 250, 000 then. Yeah, but you know what?
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: I bet there's a number of donors that would say,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: heck with it. We're giving that money. We're going to
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: have fun. And J-Bat needs to let them have their fun.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: I don't disagree.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Now, watch it just not happen, and it happens the
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: other way. So 488 Hanley said, hold bad, Michael. You're
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: getting to the end of that diving board bragging on
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: that UK quarterback. John has him on Heisman watch. You
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: all both got to end up in the pool. That's
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: an interesting way to tell me what to do. I
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: like it. I do too. Listen, I don't want to
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: get in the pool right now because it's only what?
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: 50 degrees outside? That water is awfully cold. I don't
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: like that.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: Pool days are done for the year.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Yeah, they are. And I agree. That's just one of
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: the things that sucks about summer.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: I hate when swimming season's over.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Yeah. But anyway, for years, fans have always asked whether
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: football could survive basketball season. And I feel like today's
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: the question is whether football can steal attention from basketball season.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: And I think it already is, don't you?
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: It really, it depends on, yeah, to answer your question, yes,
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: it is currently, but it is also... we're in the
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: middle of football season so it makes sense that it
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: that it would be now but it really it depends
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: on how these next few weeks go if you continue
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: to stack wins yeah i mean you'll go into basketball
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: season with with folks continuing to pay attention to football
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: which is really weird.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: I'm kind of to a point now i feel more
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: confident about the oklahoma game just because it's at oklahoma
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: doesn't make necessarily make.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: Me as nervous oklahoma stinks.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Evidently they do But, you know, we talked about this
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: not too long ago. I remember when the Cats paused,
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: when Oscar Combs developed that incredible paper that was highly successful.
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: Paper?
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Paper. You know what I'm talking about. Shush. But you
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: knew when it wasn't a good football season because they
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: would already be talking about basketball. Basketball. And I can
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: tell you right now, they would not be talking about basketball.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: That's when you know a good football season is going on. So, yes,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: I do firmly believe that football can overshadow basketball. So,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: you're laughing at me.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: I'm not laughing.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: You're laughing at me too much.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: I'm not laughing.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: Like 40 seconds ago, you were laughing at me. I've
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: seen it.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: I've seen it in my school.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: I know. Yeah.
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: Football can definitely overshadow basketball.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, absolutely. And it is. UK football attendance is
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: third highest increase in the SEC. Right now, UK is
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: averaging 61,000 fans, which is an increase of 6%. I'm
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: to the point now, and they're behind Missouri. That's up 11%.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: And then Mississippi State, credit to them. They're behind them.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: That's who's in second place, up 10%. I'm now wondering.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: If UK is regretting or will regret if they have
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: a successful couple, two or three seasons under Will Stein,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: making Commonwealth Stadium smaller in attendance. You know, because they
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: reduce the amount of people that could go to a game.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: What was that, three or four years ago, five years?
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: Whenever they did the last renovations. Do you think they'll
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: regret doing that? Because Mitch is gone. Jay bat's in.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: Will he consider, well, we need to bring those seats
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: back in.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: I mean, but that's going to cost money. It is.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: But it's also you're going to make a lot more
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: money if you have more seats available. I mean, I
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: don't know. Maybe they regret it. Maybe they don't. Either way,
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: as long as it's a full house, I don't really
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: think it matters.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: But 61,000. I mean, that's not that big of a statement,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: especially when you look at in relation to all the
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: other SEC teams in the conference.
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but, I mean, it's just not feasible for some
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: places to have a 100,000-seat stadium.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I'm not saying 100,000.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: And Kentucky's one of those places.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think if Kentucky has, let's just say,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: three or four years of now they continue to sell
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: out pretty much every single game.
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: Then it'll be expanded and it'll work itself out.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: And you think it will. So you think they would
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: move towards expanding? Absolutely. See, I would hope so. And
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: what do you think the right number is for Commonwealth
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Stadium to be? I really think Commonwealth Stadium, if they
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: did have success in football, I think it's like an 80,000-seat stadium.
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: If you're winning and can fill those seats, yeah. I
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: would agree.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, then, look, let me ask you this. Can't
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: hear you. Yeah, I know.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: Got a leaf blower right behind me. Is that what
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: it is? Go do your job somewhere else, buddy.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Well, no, no, no. He's got to do his job now.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: Which UK sport has the highest ceiling right now? Is
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: it football? Is it men's basketball? Is it women's basketball?
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Or is it volleyball? Volleyball.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: Is it really?
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Because I'm kind of torn between three of them right now.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: I'm with football. I'm with your answer, volleyball, and I'm
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: kind of with women's basketball.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: Here's my thing with women's basketball.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: All right, I'm ready. Because, you know, you got the
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: bromance now. Don't upset Kenny Brooks.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: LSU and South Carolina are behemoths in the SEC, and
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: they're always going to be. And eventually, will Kenny Brooks
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: get over that hump?
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: I think so.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: And be able to beat them? I don't know if
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: he's going to be able to beat them consistently, but
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: he'll have years where he beats them. But I don't
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: know that you're going to be able to do that
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: consistently enough to get to the top of the mountain.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: And on top of that, you've got UConn. You've got
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: UCLA that are good every year. I just think women's
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: basketball is so top-loaded. Whereas with volleyball, you've already proven
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: that you can beat all those teams. You've won a
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: national championship. You were a runner-up last year. So you've
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: proved that you belong with the big dogs in terms
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: of volleyball. So that's why I'm with volleyball.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Okay. And I probably agree with that. And we're competing
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: with the big dogs so far in the SEC on football.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: We're almost there with women's.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: Are you, though? Because you got blown out by 28
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: against Alabama. You competed in the first half.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: But I don't think it's fair to say that you've
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: proven that you can play with the big dogs in
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: terms of football. You beat A & M. Yeah, when
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: they're number nine. That was one of the big dogs. Yeah,
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: but that was just a– it was like you were
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: seeing the shadow of the big dog. And it turns
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: out it was a little bitty dog.
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I just– I still want to believe that they
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: were still the number 19 in the nation.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: I hear what you're saying. I hear what you're saying.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: Nobody can take that away. I brought up the thing
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: about Indiana with Illinois last year. Nobody can take away
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: the fact that they were number nine at the time
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: he played them. But I do think looking back at
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: the end of the season, it's not going to be
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: nearly as impressive as a win at the.
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: End of it.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: I hear you. Let's just see, because you're not going
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: to say Oklahoma's a big dog either, are you?
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: Coming into the year, I thought they were.
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: All right, so LSU, let's see how they finish out
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: with LSU. And then you got Oklahoma, Vanderbilt. Then you
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: got Tennessee and Knoxville. Let's see how they play against
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: and compete against them. And then you got Florida and Lexington,
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: Missouri and Columbia, and UofL. Thank goodness we don't play
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Georgia this year. I mean, my gosh, man. They're so good.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: They are good. They're so good.
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: Dude, I.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: I honestly think that Georgia's better than Texas.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: Oh, Georgia's my national championship.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Are they really? They are, yeah.
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: I've said that since the beginning of the year. I
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: really like this Georgia team. I hate to hear that
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: from my in-laws. Who went to Georgia, by the way?
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: It just gets old.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: I mean, it does. But, all right, we got to
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: take our last break. When we come back, we got
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: to talk about this miracle medicine that saved a woman
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: up in Massachusetts.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: Oh, and I got to hear about Vernon, Indiana, too.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: Oh, we didn't talk about Vernon. We got to talk
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: about both of those.
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: I might save the one. Well, we'll see how much
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: time we have because I think one should be talked
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: about today. and maybe save the one for tomorrow. So
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: at least bring up Vernon. Okay, we'll bring up Vernon
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: as soon as we get back. Vernon, Indiana. I appreciate
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: you reminding me of that. All right, stay right there.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: One more segment in Vernon, Indiana. We're talking about you next.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: Stay right there.
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: And now, I'm going to take you on a new sensation.
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: A new sensation. Come here. A new sensation.
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: Hey. Won't you come see about me? I'll be alone Dancing,
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: you know it, baby Tell.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: Me your troubles and doubts Together This is the appropriate
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: song for about the story I'm about to talk about.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: I'm just going to tell you right now, because this
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: is kind of like a rebel song, just to let
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: you know. I can't hear this without thinking of The
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: Breakfast Club. See, I can't either. Exactly. The very ending
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: of it.
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: And the actors just hold, he's got that trench coat on,
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: walking on the football field with his fist held high.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Exactly. So, here we go. A 67-year-old woman in Vernon,
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: Indiana was arrested yesterday.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: No surprise there.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: She was drunk driving, arrested for DUI, and doing donuts
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: in none other than the Vernon, Indiana courthouse front yard.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: I did see this.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: How do you like that? What an idiot. I loved it.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: And the amazing part was she didn't hit anything. I mean,
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: there was an actual little brick wall there, like in
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: a little courtyard that And she hit none of it.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: It's like, how do you do all these reverse donuts?
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: And she hits absolutely nothing. I mean, shout out to
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: her and respect. Just telling you right now. I did
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: see a post. I can't remember who posted it, but
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: somebody reposted that video yesterday. And they were like, maybe
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: if you've had too many margaritas for lunch, you don't
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: get behind the wheel.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: So you're right. I mean, it is an incredible job.
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: Just avoiding everything. Yeah. I'm curious what led up to this.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: Was it just drunk inhibitions? Was it something that had
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: happened in her past, maybe at the courthouse that she
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: was trying to get revenge for? I don't know.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: I need more answers. You're exactly correct. It's like, why
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: was she doing this in the courthouse yard? Because she
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: knew she was going to get arrested there. Not only that,
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: but she was doing it in broad daylight. Yeah. So
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: they didn't have to go far to arrest her and
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: take her to jail. I loved the story. I hope
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: she's okay. I mean, I don't want to make fun
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: of her if she's disparaged in any way. But I
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: just think it's funny. I thought it was great.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: It's almost like she knew she was breaking the law.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: And she's like, you know what?
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Let me just go to the courthouse, do some donuts
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: so they know that I'm breaking the law. And then
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: they'll come get me. And I'll get three square meals.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: It looked intentional. For sure. Exactly. So now, Yankees tonight.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: Let's talk about the Yankees-Rays game. Game three. Yankees. Starting
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: pitcher Max Freed. Yep. Are you ready for this?
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: Yeah, what's going on with him?
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: His wife is expecting a baby any day. Uh-oh.
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: But he said he is starting this game no matter what.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: That's bad news for you. See, that's what I think.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: He's going to come out pitching inspired.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: Oh, you think so?
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: Because, I mean, what if the baby's born, like, during
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: his performance?
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: You think that's not going to be on the back
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: of his mind?
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: What if his wife says, hey, I'm having the baby
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: right now. I need you to come to the hospital.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: No, that ain't happening.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: And he's getting ready to walk out onto the mound.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: That ain't happening.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: And he said, sorry, honey, baseball's more important to me.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: Because that's what it would sound like to me. If
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: I did that to my wife and said, no, no,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: I got to go pitch a game, She would be like, well,
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: you need to find a new house to live in.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Doesn't that depend on if you already have kids, though? No.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: Like, if it was your second son, you don't think
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: she'd be okay with you missing it, even if you
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: were there for the first one?
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: And truth matters, I don't know if I'd be okay
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: with me missing either.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: I would be okay with it.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: You would, really? You would be okay with your second
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: or third child being born? It's like, sorry, sorry, Fred,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I wasn't able to get to you. I had more
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: things to do. I'd be at work.
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: I mean, if I had already seen it once before,
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: and I haven't seen that once before, but I can
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: only imagine how disgusting that is. I don't know that
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: I would want to be there for the second one.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: But good news is, this is his first baby. It is.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: That makes it worse.
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: Well, no, if that situation does play out, I do
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: think that he would leave and go to the hospital.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: See, I couldn't concentrate. I mean, is there a player
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: out there? Yeah, there probably is a player out there
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: that could absolutely concentrate on the game and not worry
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: about his wife having a baby by herself. Now, granted,
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: probably family would be there with them. But, you know,
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: you're married to your wife. You should be there. I mean,
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: and maybe part of this is me because I got
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: my Ray's quarter zip on right now.
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: You don't want him to be there. No, I don't
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: want him to be there at all. You got to
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: be there for your kid, Max.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: Come on, man. Oh, yeah, exactly. Max Fried. I mean,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: Fried Chicken should be his name, okay?
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: She played college volleyball.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Oh, she did? Yeah. Where? USC. The real USC. Oh,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: is she a looker?
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: She's kind of a looker, yeah.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I would think so because he's not good looking.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: Are you kidding? He's a good looking dude. He's a
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: good looking guy. I'm just kidding.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: Could you pitch during a game knowing your wife was
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: having a baby? Yes. Could you really? Yeah.
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: I would use that as motivation.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: Credit to you. I can tell you I couldn't do it.
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: And I would, I mean, if need be, I'd apologize later. Hey, look, son, daughter,
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: whatever it is, I wasn't there for your birth. You
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: don't remember it, so it doesn't matter to you. Because
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: I was out there making millions of dollars pitching in
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: the MLB playoffs.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Patrick texted in and said, typical Jennings County, Indiana.
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Is that true?
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay.
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: All right. Then one texter said, Jamie said, does Freed
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: think he plays for the Knicks and not the Yankees?
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: Get your butt to that berth. I'm right there with you.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: I couldn't do this.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: I wonder how the wife feels about it.
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: I think it's a fair question. I think it's a
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: fair question to ask this. What do you think about
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: the leaked text that came out from the Michigan tight end?
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: I didn't see this. Oh, you did not see this?
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: No.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: So there was a group chat after the last loss
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: Michigan had. And tight end, they've already identified him. The
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: tight end for Michigan, his name's Zach Marshall, was texting out,
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: talking about questioning the offensive coordinator scheme and then also
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: said that, alleged that the offensive coordinator, whose name is
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: Jason Beck, where he said that the, who Beck is
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: in his first year at Michigan, told all the tight
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: ends that none of them are valuable to the offense
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: at Michigan.
- 1:27:40Speaker 4: Whoa.
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: Good to see things going so well up in Ann Arbor. Well,
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: that's what I was going to ask you. Do you
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: feel like this is the collapse of Michigan football and
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: we're now witnessing it? I don't know if it's fair
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: to say collapse because Kyle Whittingham's in his first year there. So,
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: I mean, you're going to have your ups and downs, obviously,
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: when you bring in a new coach. But it seems
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: like maybe he's got some decisions to make in the
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: offseason in terms of his coaching staff or players or something.
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: Feels like something has to change. Yeah, and I think
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: a lot of things have to change. I mean, it's
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: just a crazy situation up there. Now, the player sent out,
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: Zach sent out an apology after doing all this. But
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: this is, to me, proof that you never, if you
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: want to criticize something, you never put in a text
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: message or an email. Because it's going to get leaked
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: out to everybody. Eventually, it'll get leaked out. You just
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: voice it. Don't text it. And that's the mistake he made. Hey,
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: by the way, I just ran. across a crazy stat.
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: And got regards to the NFL. So we'll stay on
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: football here.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: Do you know the Jacksonville Jaguars play 26 of their
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: next 30 games away from Jacksonville?
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: Is it because of their stadium? Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: So they gotta, they gotta go play in Orlando for a,
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: For a 23-month stretch.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: So 26 of their next 30 games are not at
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: their home stadium.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's crazy. It does. And I think the Buccaneers
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: are going to have to go through that as well.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: Because the Buccaneers are getting ready to do a crazy
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: renovation at the Raymond James Stadium down there.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: Hopefully it starts with Cut and Baker. Well, and Todd Bowles, too,
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: for that fact. You don't like Bowles?
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: No.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: I think he's terrible.
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: So I'm not a fan of his. Just like I'm
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: not a fan of this either. You brought it up yesterday.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: We'll talk about it today, okay? You want to bring
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: it up then? Because I know you're singing the fight
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: song in your head as you're clapping. Indiana, Indiana. Okay,
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: that's enough. Men's soccer. Yeah. UK lost to IU last night.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: UK fell to the Hoosiers 3-1. All right, let's move
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: on to the next subject.
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: In all honesty.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: Yes. there's nothing to be ashamed of in that indiana
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: is are they the number one team in the nation
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: they're number two okay they're always good aren't they they're
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: always good yeah and they haven't lost a game yet
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: this season they they played some pretty big games so
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: far and and have been really untouched they did have
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: two ties this year but yeah yeah they're a really
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: good team there's there's no no shame in losing to
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: them okay fair enough all right then um One person said,
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: can't we be excited for both? I love football, but
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: can't wait for basketball. They are going to surprise people
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: this year. I think Hawthorne and N'Diaye are going to
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: kill it this year.
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: See, I agree with you, Dexter. You can be excited
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: for both.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Yes, you can. And you should be. It's our school.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: It should never be about the UK football fans and
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: the UK basketball fans. That's frustrating to me. And both
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: fan bases should be rooting for your own school. I've
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: always had a problem with that. Yes, you should be excited,
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: and I'm glad you are. 48 Handley back on, he said,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: here's a hint as to the winner of next year's
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Kentucky Derby. Gilligan's Island, enjoy the game, Michael. I predict
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: the Yankees make an error tonight.
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: Oh, there you go.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: Yeah. By the way, I mean, that was a bunch
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: of errors that the Yankees had. Three errors in the
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: first inning. Can I bet on that horse already? Which one?
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: Gilligan's Island.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Oh, can you really?
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: No, that's what I'm asking. Can I?
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: I don't think you can yet. I don't think that's
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: available yet.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: Imagine the odds I could get right now.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Oh, that would be crazy odds. And then imagine if
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: it win, how much money you'd win. By the way,
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: Carl Anthony Towns is in a stalemate with the New
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: York Knicks.
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: I saw that.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: Yeah, over his eligibility of a four-year extension, which he's
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: eligible right now. I mean, it's been 53 years since
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: the Knicks won a title, and the Knicks are holding
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: out on the 30-year-old Carl Anthony Towns. Don't you think
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: that's a little ridiculous?
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: Not really, because it's not like he was the best
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: player on the team. He's a good player. Who's the
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: best player on the team? Jalen Brunson, no question.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: Maybe the guy who won MVP. I don't know.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: Well, I get what you're saying, but Carl Anthony Towns
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: had a lot to do with it. No, he's a
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: huge piece of the team, no question. But I don't know.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: I mean, it's a business. Yeah, it definitely is. But,
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: I mean, Nick's offered him $ 200 million, in which he's
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: eligible to earn another $ 75 million on top of that.
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so stop being greedy and accept their deal.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: Wow. If you were in this position, you would be
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: taking it. You would be wanting that extra $ 75 million.
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: No, I would not. Absolutely, I would not. Oh, my gosh,
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: you're killing me. I have said that my whole life.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: I would take whatever deal they offered me.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: Wow. Because, quite frankly, it's more money than I've ever had. True,
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: but when you're offered even more money or at least
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: eligible for even more money, you're going to say, hey, man,
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: I want all that money. I'll work hard for this team.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: It would be funny if he said, okay, I'm out
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: of here. I'm going back to Minnesota.
