- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I sure will. Good morning, everybody. You are listening to
- 0:07Speaker 2: The Voice. Come on, dig me now. One and only
- 0:11Speaker 2: Steve Harvey. Got a radio show. Well, okay, here we go.
- 0:19Speaker 2: You know, what's important, what can be a huge part
- 0:23Speaker 2: of your success is if you find a balance. If
- 0:30Speaker 2: you find a balance in your life, that's that's been
- 0:34Speaker 2: very important for me. And I've really never phrased it
- 0:37Speaker 2: this way until now. But I was kind of thinking
- 0:41Speaker 2: about it after my wife and I mean, we set
- 0:43Speaker 2: up one night recently, man. You know, I often come
- 0:47Speaker 2: on here and this is kind of an inspirational moment
- 0:49Speaker 2: of the show. And I try to remind people about
- 0:52Speaker 2: that most important relationship between you and God. And that's
- 0:57Speaker 2: the apex of it. That's the top of the crown.
- 1:01Speaker 2: You've got to form the relationship with God. If you don't,
- 1:04Speaker 2: everything else struggles. It's hard to be a good husband
- 1:07Speaker 2: without God. It's hard to be a good family man
- 1:10Speaker 2: without God. It's hard to be successful without God, man.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It's hard to get through this thing called life without God.
- 1:16Speaker 1: So that's clear. But at the.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Same time, you can't talk about God 24-7. You got
- 1:25Speaker 2: to go to work.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Come on, man.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Let's just be real. I ain't your pastor and I
- 1:28Speaker 2: ain't at your church, but let's just be real about it.
- 1:32Speaker 2: You know, people tell you got to keep your mind
- 1:34Speaker 2: stayed on him and all like that. That's a true statement.
- 1:38Speaker 2: got to keep your mind state in that area. I don't,
- 1:40Speaker 2: I'm not here to tell you how to live, but
- 1:41Speaker 2: you got to keep your mind state in that area
- 1:43Speaker 2: of God of doing the right thing, caring about people.
- 1:46Speaker 2: That's what I took it as. Now I could be wrong.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I apologize if I'm not saying it the way you've
- 1:51Speaker 2: been taught. I can only do me now. But after that,
- 1:55Speaker 2: you got to go to work. You got to have
- 1:57Speaker 2: some fun. You got to take care of your business.
- 2:01Speaker 2: And that's the balance you have to find. So again,
- 2:05Speaker 2: Once you focus on shooing up your relationship with God,
- 2:10Speaker 2: you got to balance this now. Now you got to
- 2:15Speaker 2: allocate some time. I don't care who you are for
- 2:17Speaker 2: your family. If you're going to have a family, you
- 2:21Speaker 2: got to allocate some time for them. See, we can't
- 2:24Speaker 2: just marry these women or make these kids and then
- 2:28Speaker 2: neglect them. And fellas, especially if I'm talking to men
- 2:32Speaker 2: out here, ladies, you can listen too. But listen, if
- 2:35Speaker 2: you find yourself struggling in your life, man, and you
- 2:37Speaker 2: can't seem to get it together, let's just go over
- 2:40Speaker 2: a couple of things. The first two things, if you
- 2:43Speaker 2: find yourself struggling, you can't seem to pull it together
- 2:45Speaker 2: and reach your goals and get to where you want
- 2:47Speaker 2: to go. Let's just do a check. How is your
- 2:52Speaker 2: relationship with God? And then next, How much time are
- 2:57Speaker 2: you taking to allocate for your family? Now, your family
- 3:02Speaker 2: don't always live in your house. But if you made them,
- 3:06Speaker 2: they're yours. And the responsibility to them is never lessened
- 3:10Speaker 2: because you don't stay there no more.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Because you and the girl broke up. You and the
- 3:15Speaker 1: woman don't speak.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Amen. That don't ever release you from the obligation. Feel
- 3:20Speaker 2: me when I'm telling you this now. Because I'm not
- 3:23Speaker 2: telling you something I'm wondering about. I've had to live
- 3:26Speaker 2: through them years. So two things you can start looking at.
- 3:30Speaker 2: If you're not where you want to be and you
- 3:32Speaker 2: ain't really solid, you can't figure out why you keep
- 3:34Speaker 2: spinning your wheels. Have you just done a random inventory, man?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Have you just checked on your relationship with God? Have
- 3:40Speaker 2: you checked on the time you're spending dedicated towards your family,
- 3:44Speaker 2: your children that you created? If them two things is
- 3:47Speaker 2: out of sync, man, that I can tell you right now,
- 3:51Speaker 2: You can go on and get to explaining yourself away
- 3:53Speaker 2: just like that. Hey, man, how come you ain't where
- 3:56Speaker 2: you want to be? Well, man, I really ain't.
- 3:59Speaker 1: But if you really ain't, then you really ain't.
- 4:01Speaker 2: The third thing is you got to allocate the necessary
- 4:05Speaker 2: time for your business. You got to handle your business.
- 4:11Speaker 2: All of this, man, is the way it works. And
- 4:16Speaker 2: the order, the order is God first. Family second. Then
- 4:24Speaker 2: you got to handle all your business. But as men,
- 4:27Speaker 2: this is what we do. If I don't handle my business,
- 4:31Speaker 2: I can't take care of my family. True statement. But
- 4:35Speaker 2: if your business is in front of your family, you
- 4:37Speaker 2: out of order. Now, that's all we're talking about now,
- 4:40Speaker 2: ain't it? See, that's all we're really saying here now, fellas.
- 4:44Speaker 2: You know, I mean, come on, man. You know, let's
- 4:47Speaker 2: have a real conversation about being better. You know, if
- 4:50Speaker 2: you don't create these children, you got to handle your business.
- 4:54Speaker 2: You may not like the girl no more. You and
- 4:56Speaker 2: the woman might have broken up. Y'all might go your
- 4:58Speaker 2: own way. But what that got to do with the child, though, man?
- 5:01Speaker 2: You got to handle your business. They got to know
- 5:03Speaker 2: who daddy is. That's your obligation, man. And God ain't
- 5:05Speaker 2: letting you off the hook for that.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Try it.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Go ahead and try it and think you're going to
- 5:11Speaker 2: get off the hook with that because you're not, man.
- 5:13Speaker 2: You're just not. I'm sorry, man. Dog, Steve, why you
- 5:19Speaker 2: coming like that? Because I did it like that. I
- 5:23Speaker 2: did it, man. I was over here trying to reshape
- 5:25Speaker 2: my life, get myself up on my feet. When I
- 5:27Speaker 2: was homeless, man, and trying to come back, man, I
- 5:29Speaker 2: thought I had to take care of me first and
- 5:31Speaker 2: then so I can neglect it.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Caring about them kids. Man, that ain't how it work, man.
- 5:36Speaker 2: God kept his knee on my neck for a long
- 5:38Speaker 2: time for that one right there until I finally learned
- 5:40Speaker 2: the lesson.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Hold up, man. Put these phone calls in. Go spend
- 5:45Speaker 1: some time. Do something.
- 5:47Speaker 2: And it started turning around for me. You know, I
- 5:50Speaker 2: can't be there all the time because I am out
- 5:52Speaker 2: here on the grind and hustle. But at the same time, man,
- 5:55Speaker 2: some more phone calls, some more letters, some more ha
- 5:58Speaker 2: ha he he's something. Then take care of your business, man.
- 6:04Speaker 2: You got to work hard to be successful. You know,
- 6:07Speaker 2: sometimes I don't put that in there. I just live
- 6:09Speaker 2: it and I expect my sons to emulate that. But
- 6:12Speaker 2: I got to talk to him all the time. How
- 6:14Speaker 2: hard you got to work to be something. It's an
- 6:18Speaker 2: all-out assault on it, man. If you got a target
- 6:20Speaker 2: in mind, you got to go. You got to wake
- 6:22Speaker 2: up every day trying to get there. And you can't
- 6:24Speaker 2: get tired of it because it never ends. You're going
- 6:31Speaker 2: to always be this way. That's how life is designed
- 6:34Speaker 2: and set up. You've got to be a hard worker, man.
- 6:37Speaker 1: If you're always looking.
- 6:38Speaker 2: For some time to chill and, man, I want to
- 6:40Speaker 2: go do what I want to do, you ain't going
- 6:42Speaker 2: to make it. In order to be successful, you have
- 6:46Speaker 2: to do a series of things that you're uncomfortable doing.
- 6:49Speaker 2: And work is the thing that most of us are
- 6:52Speaker 2: uncomfortable doing. It's so much easier to chill. Man, I
- 6:56Speaker 2: wish I could kick back with a cigar, man, all
- 6:58Speaker 2: the time. But I can't, man. I can't because I
- 7:05Speaker 2: got to work. Then the last piece of the balance
- 7:12Speaker 2: piece is you got to take some time out to
- 7:14Speaker 2: enjoy yourself. But if you ain't where you want to be,
- 7:18Speaker 2: you ain't got a lot of time to enjoy yourself.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Quit thinking, man, that this balance is even. It's a
- 7:26Speaker 2: whole lot of God, a whole lot of family, a
- 7:29Speaker 2: whole lot of business, and a little bit of chilling.
- 7:32Speaker 1: The chilling can't be equal to the family, the business,
- 7:36Speaker 1: or your God.
- 7:37Speaker 2: If the chilling is equal to any of them, you
- 7:40Speaker 2: ain't going to make it. Quit chilling, man, and go
- 7:43Speaker 2: to work like a man. Do what you're supposed to do.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Work on your family. Work on your relationship. Work on
- 7:49Speaker 2: your God. Work on your business. And then when you chill,
- 7:52Speaker 2: you might not chill as long, but you sure going
- 7:55Speaker 2: to chill bigger.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You're going to ball bigger, baby. You're listening to the
- 7:59Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show.
