Transcript
- 0:27All right, you are in the Treehouse. Used to be a funny radio
- 0:31show, now a funny podcast. Mostly I'm Dan O'Malley along with Trey Trenholme
- 0:36and someone that knows a thing or two about funny radio and funny podcasts.
- 0:42Her Treehouse debut for the very first time in the confines of this crazy space.
- 0:48So she's very, very brave or very stupid. We'll find out.
- 0:53It is the great Rebecca Black formerly of ninety eight point seven K Love.
- 0:59Yes, Hello, Hello, thank you for having me. You're welcome.
- 1:02I think let's see if you're still grateful and you know, you know about
- 1:06forty minutes from now. Oh, I'm fully prepared. I'm not worried about
- 1:08you too. Those are famous last word for back. It's very fortunate that
- 1:17this is remote. Yes, I get that's probably true. Nobody will get
- 1:22hit, so that's a good thing. Yeah, I do say though,
- 1:25I never underestimate a woman's ability to strike. I don't care from what distance
- 1:32it can happen. That's a good point. I will find you if I
- 1:34need to hunt you down, you know those things, those kinds of things.
- 1:38So I really am glad to have you on the show because we had
- 1:42a member of the show leave, and it's like, well, we need
- 1:42to kind of turn this into let's take advantage of this and let's let's have
- 1:48some people on that we know that listeners know, but let's also, you
- 1:52know, take the opportunity to try to get to know some people that we
- 1:55don't know but maybe just know of and in that category or you're the first
- 2:00one, Rebecca, I feel honored. Then, thank you very much.
- 2:06Unfortunately I did have to say formerly of kay Love. But you're obviously not
- 2:08alone train I've been fired planting round a little bit. So how long How
- 2:15long ago was it that? How long ago was it that that you were
- 2:19blown out at Kay Love? It will be a year in August, which
- 2:23I can't believe, like time has flown. I can't believe it's already been
- 2:27a year. It's like unbelievable to me. I know the for me,
- 2:32September will be will be one year, and it seems weird that that's also
- 2:36coming up on one year. But one year one year, remob are you
- 2:40going to celebrate I kind of already did. I moved to the Caribbean.
- 2:47That means that's a good celebration. I can't. Unfortunately, uh my company
- 2:52hadn't pay me enough to be able to move to the Caribbean. Well does
- 2:55that count? No, Yeah, absolutely it was. I think we had
- 3:00planned for a long time and this, the timing of it kind of worked
- 3:01out, so we decided, yeah, we'll go ahead on that. Yeah,
- 3:04we'll just we'll just take advantage of the situation that we've already kind of
- 3:07set ourselves up, and we'll just we'll go ahead and pull the trigger.
- 3:09So how long How long was it that you worked at Kay Love. I
- 3:14was there on the morning show for sixteen years. Damn. Oh, yeah,
- 3:19long time. Sixteen years. I literally like graduated college, I moved
- 3:23to LA for a hot second, did radio out there, like production type
- 3:27stuff. Came back to Dallas and lucked into a job on the morning show,
- 3:31and I never left. I always was told, you ever get offered
- 3:36a morning show job, take it. That's what I did. And that
- 3:40first ten years younger. Oh I'm ten years younger after I left. Yeah,
- 3:46that's yeah, there's a few grays up in here, but yes,
- 3:51I definitely the way of the world was lifted off my shoulders, even after
- 3:54getting fired. As much as I love it, it is a hard business
- 3:58to be in, especially for women. Yes, I was like, I
- 4:01don't know if y'all agree with that or not, but absolutely it was like
- 4:04I always felt like I was just clawing my way up all the time.
- 4:10That first morning show that that brought you on? What morning show was that?
- 4:14So here in Dallas it was Jody Deane in the morning team and it
- 4:17was Jody Dean, Mitch car, Jonathan Hay Bernie mac, Kathy Jones,
- 4:24Tammy Edwards, and me. There were said ben of us. I think
- 4:28I know five of them. Yeah. So I worked with Mitch Car at
- 4:32Kveil and Car. One of the absolute best of voices I've ever heard.
- 4:39That man. That man, if it wasn't James Earl Jones doing the voice
- 4:44of Vader, it should have been Mitch Carr. You know, he's the
- 4:46voice of Speak and Spell, right, I did not know that. I
- 4:50did not know that, you know, the Speakin Spell game that we all
- 4:54had when we were kids. So he did a one time recording for it,
- 4:58was paid a lump sum of of money, and then now today is
- 5:01still the voice of Speaking Spell and gets zero residuals from that zero zero.
- 5:11And sometimes you really do need an agent. A right fun fact there,
- 5:14Mitch Carr voices speaking spell Mitch card took a huge whiff on that play school
- 5:20device there, Yes, and he will tell you that exactly that. So,
- 5:28so Mitch Carr, I knew it. He and I worked together at
- 5:30Cavey. He probably doesn't remembered. I was a lowly board up slash promotions
- 5:32assistant at that time, and then he So the other names you mentioned,
- 5:38Jody Dean Trey, and I've met Jody a handful of times. We had
- 5:41him on the show back in the day when we were at CBS. He
- 5:45and him and Russ had like this weird like hate but also respect for one
- 5:49another. It was such a weird, weird vibe between those two very much.
- 5:54So it was because I was I feel like there was a crossover with
- 5:57Russ Martin one year that I was at EBS at the time, and I
- 6:00remember being at the holiday party and Russ's band was playing, and I was
- 6:05like, Oh my God, like, how what's gonna go down? Because
- 6:08I knew the whole beef story behind with Rutt on Russ's end, and then
- 6:12now with Jody being together on stage, and I thought there was going to
- 6:15be some drama and then they were like, we're cool, shake it off.
- 6:19I think we were even thinking the same thing. Yeah, even we
- 6:25didn't really know what might happen. Right, You've heard all these stories for
- 6:28like a million years and DFW Radio about these two dudes who have been like
- 6:31at each other's throats and competitors the entire time. So of course you think
- 6:35there's gonna be like some fireworks. I'm thinking it's gonna be like, I
- 6:40don't know, they're gonna brawl out in the alley, and then there was
- 6:42nothing. It was so anti climactic. Well it needed to be anti climactic
- 6:46because if there was a brawl, it would have been very short and Russ
- 6:48would have been dead long before he actually was. Yet, say, would
- 6:51have whipped his ass. I agreed completely, like Jody would have had that
- 6:56hands down. And believe me, Russ knew that. Yeah, he knew
- 7:00it. He knew it better. Yeah, what are the other names you
- 7:04mentioned? Wasn't there a palpable tension between Jonathan Hayes and Jody so they much?
- 7:11They probably very much had a relationship like Russ and Jody did. It
- 7:15was like best friends one day, hate each other the next man. Um.
- 7:20But towards the end, Jonathan has sense passed away, and I think
- 7:24towards the end they made up and you know, rekindled all their original friendships
- 7:30from way back in the day and stuff like that. So I'm glad they
- 7:31did because I remember meeting Jonathan a few times and he was he was he
- 7:35was very cool. That was one of those guys who always had a story
- 7:39for something. Um act oh man, absolutely, yeah, I'm like prest
- 7:45and peace Jonathan. I was like super nice guy. Um. But yeah,
- 7:48they definitely had their on again, off again romance situation happening. I
- 7:54remember getting some emails from Jonathan and yeah, it was always when when when
- 7:58their bromance was not same here and he had choice words about Jody's same here.
- 8:07It's I guess like it's I don't know what it was. It was
- 8:09almost like like right, Russ and Jonathan or our show and Jonathan never dated
- 8:13or anything, but it's almost like it's almost like we did, because then
- 8:16he went on to date Jody Dean and then when he would piss him off,
- 8:20then he'd come back crawling back. Does guess what Judie did? Yeah,
- 8:24that sounds that is so Jonathan like to a t like, nailed it.
- 8:28I heard when you said you did mornings for sixteen years. I was
- 8:31I was like, wow, I'm impressed. Uh. Trey, on the
- 8:35other hand, he's impressed, but the noise he made was, oh my
- 8:37god, how did how did you? How did you survive? Because I
- 8:41think we did mornings when we when Trey and I did mornings with Russ when
- 8:46we got on the Eagle in twenty ten, we started on mornings and we
- 8:50did it for a little over a year, and we hated every single second
- 8:54of it. And I think it showed in the ratings because when we first
- 8:56started, ratings were great, like, oh my god, the show's back,
- 8:58This is awesome. And then like two three months later, we're all
- 9:01bitching about how early it is and how drunk we still are from the night
- 9:05before, and how miserable we are. And turns out no one wants to
- 9:07hear that in the morning. No, no, So they have nured everybody
- 9:11else's miserable too. They need something to take their minds off of the misery
- 9:15that they're about to head into exactly, but none of us could muster that
- 9:18at that Yeah, No, I don't know I honestly, I look back
- 9:22and I'm like, I really don't know how I did it. But I
- 9:24was like, at the end of the day, this is still what I
- 9:26love. I love giving my opinion, I love talking to people, I
- 9:30love making This weird fan friendship thing happened. I just at the end of
- 9:35the day, that's really what it boiled down to. So you, when
- 9:37you love what you do, you will put up with unmentionable things to do
- 9:43to continue doing it. I just I just I just felt that deep deep
- 9:48in my chest everything everything you just said, like, you will put up
- 9:52with unspeakable things. Oh yeah, you will. Really Well his name was
- 9:58Russ. Yeah. The thing we dealt with, it was actually very speakable.
- 10:03Yeah yeah, yeah yeah. Especially well, it's probably a little bit
- 10:07easier to talk about him now that he's gone, right, you know what,
- 10:09I said the same things when he was alive. So I feel good
- 10:13about that, as you know, as I was able to tell him,
- 10:16I was like near the end, near the end for him before he eventually
- 10:20just stopped showing up all together. Like for a while, he would show
- 10:24up about two thirds of the time, and then it just ended up like
- 10:28eight months before he passed away. He just never showed up again. Wow,
- 10:31which anyone on the show at that time, we weren't surprised. Other
- 10:33people acted surprised, even though we told him it was going to happen,
- 10:37but they didn't listen. So whatever. There's so much stuff you put up
- 10:39with in radio, and now you've made the transition. You met you started
- 10:43the transition a long time ago over into digital by doing the podcast Haunted af
- 10:50Yeah, that's right. We started as gosh, it's been almost no actually,
- 10:54it's been four years since we started Haunted DAYF and we've had like a
- 10:56lot of really good success with it. And I'm so happy that I have
- 11:01that outlet because you know, once you get fired from radio, you literally
- 11:05your whole world shatters. Like my ego was just shattered, and I didn't
- 11:11know what to do with myself and I found myself like nobody understands what I'm
- 11:15going through. I'm like, you don't understand. I don't have this like
- 11:16creative outlet to talk to and all that kind of stuff. Thank God for
- 11:20the podcast because I'm like at his really probably what has saved me, like
- 11:24pulled me out of the depths of like you're sad radio depression. And of
- 11:30course I don't know how I don't know how great a distance we're telling ghost
- 11:33stories and bigfoot stories and alien stories and some of that stuff can really get
- 11:35in your head. But it worked for me. I'll tell you this,
- 11:39and this is funny. The first time Russ and I had a break up,
- 11:43which was two thousand and three, there was a guy and his name
- 11:46was Gary and I cannot think of his last name, but a longtime radio
- 11:50guy who had gotten into concert promotions. Day after I left, he picked
- 11:54up his phone and called me and he said, he goes. I know
- 11:56it doesn't feel like it now, he goes, but there is life after
- 12:00radio. And that was a very prophetic thing to say. I'm still not
- 12:05there. Well, I'm still not You've never you really have never stopped doing
- 12:11radio exactly. There's waves though, right like yeah, it's feeling great about
- 12:16life. And then then like, oh, i'll tell you what ripped the
- 12:20like rug out from under me. One day is like I'm at work and
- 12:22I work for a podcast company, so there are people that like come through
- 12:28that no know who you are or whatever, and somebody recognized me and it
- 12:31was like bam, gut punch, because now I have to tell them,
- 12:37yeah, well I'm fired. Yeah, I record podcasts for other people.
- 12:39Now, dude, I'm right there with you. That's that's starting up the
- 12:43podcast. Like you said, it helps you get that creative outlet and you
- 12:46really and you you you get to try to at least utilize some skills that
- 12:50you've amassed over a long career. Right, But you start thinking, well,
- 12:54if I end up as a greeter at Walmart, it's only a matter
- 12:56of time before someone says, hey, aren't you And then yeah, I've
- 13:01just been punched right in all the guts. Yes, you feel like you're
- 13:05supposed to have a certain job because otherwise people will look at you differently because
- 13:09you don't have that job anymore. Who was the guy, Oh, it
- 13:13was the actor, the guy that was in the Cosby Show. He was
- 13:16one of the daughter's husbands. And then one day he gets a photo snapped
- 13:20of him working at Trader Joe's and everyone's like, hey, aren't you the
- 13:24guy from Cosby Show? And he's like, oh, I don't think anyone
- 13:28wants to be that. No, of course not. You Like you're you
- 13:31know, you're flying high, right, You're at the height of your career
- 13:35and then all of a sudden, everything gets ripped out from under you,
- 13:37and people just expect for you to be able to pick up and go somewhere
- 13:39else. And I'm like, in Dallas radio, it's not that easy.
- 13:43It's just not I'm like, nobody's calling to say, hey, come come
- 13:46be on our show. Nobody that it doesn't happen like you guys the first
- 13:50Like, I'm like, hey, we want you to come hang out with
- 13:54us one day, and I'm like, I can't lie. It felt amazing.
- 13:56I was like, yeah, somebody wants my personality. You know,
- 13:58we need to do one of these days. We need to get together at
- 14:01a bar, preferably and Pray doesn't drink anymore, but I'll drink his.
- 14:05And we just need to spill all of our radio guts all over the bar,
- 14:11because I think that'd be a fun conversation to have. It would like,
- 14:13I really I would love to tell people about the day I got fired,
- 14:18like what the events that previously happened, But I'm not there yet.
- 14:22Oh it's easy for me, So maybe maybe this will be the place that
- 14:26I spill this story. Um, they took all of us out to the
- 14:31Ranger game the Sunday before sat in a sweet free food, free drinks.
- 14:37They had corporate people coming in shaking our hands and like telling us how awesome
- 14:41we were, and then they fired us the next day. God, that
- 14:46is that is so radio. It's it's like the bait and switch, like
- 14:52we're gonna take you to this nice, sweet party before we kill you off.
- 14:54Wow. That is that that is that is that is a truly special
- 14:58one. So, Rebecca, do you have I need to know if I'm
- 15:03weird on this. I don't have a physical list, but I do have
- 15:05a mental list of people that reached out after we got laid off. And
- 15:11I know who called, and I know who didn't call. Nope, I
- 15:15absolutely do, and I know who still has not bothered to call or anything.
- 15:18One hundred percent. Absolutely, there's a checklist, because I feel like
- 15:22there's a there should be a two day rule, like if you haven't called
- 15:26or reached out in those first two days, like you're dead to me.
- 15:31I feel like you're more hard than that. True. No, I don't
- 15:35like to think about it though. These are people that I had worked with
- 15:37for like sixteen years. So absolutely, I've got a list of who reached
- 15:41out and who didn't. I had somebody very flippantly reached out on social media
- 15:46like five days after the fact, and I was like, no, we're
- 15:50done, Like we are done. I thought we were friends, were done,
- 15:52So yeah, two days. I give it a two day situation here.
- 15:56You haven't reached out in two days? You got? That goes for
- 15:58fans too. Wow, you just really need the attention. I'm kidding.
- 16:03I'm kidding, but I do love the people who show up six months later
- 16:07and I'm like, I just tuned into Caleb. Where have y'all been?
- 16:11Where have I been? Where have you been? It's been six months?
- 16:14So speaking of catching up, I think I saw a photo on one of
- 16:18your social media. Are you working for Jeff Curley now, the guy that
- 16:22he used to do TV news in DFW? Yeah, I actually am.
- 16:26I'm I'm working at his podcast company, Real News pr Real News Communication Network,
- 16:32and I'm actually his personal producer right now. Oh wow, So I
- 16:37film and record and edit and post all of his shows on social media.
- 16:42I don't know if you can truly see and appreciate the look on Trey's face
- 16:48because he knows where I'm going. Because whenever Jeff Curley's name comes up,
- 16:52it's like where First of all, I feel like I need to say,
- 16:56I don't know where you're going with this, but I'm like, Jeff Curley
- 16:57is one of the nicest human beings, without a doubt. Oh here.
- 17:00He is an absolute sweetheart. He is an angel at surprising that his feet
- 17:04ever stay on the ground because you think the wings would make him float away.
- 17:08He is a wonderful man. He is unfortunately, the subject of one
- 17:14of the most unfortunate I know where you're going, one of the most unfortunate
- 17:19dildo photo bombings of all time. It's his claim to fame, as he
- 17:25likes to say, I mean, it's one of those things. That's why
- 17:30Trey Smiley because anytime Jeff Curley, Jeff Curley's name would come up on the
- 17:33show, we all knew what was about to happen, and I was gonna
- 17:36be Oh, we're gonna watch, We're gonna watch that video of Jeff Curley
- 17:37doing a live stand up on TV. And as they're emptying the house behind
- 17:44him, it was a drug house. Police are bringing out boxes of things
- 17:47and then one of the boxes is the world's largest dildo you have ever seen.
- 17:52Yes, I can honestly tell you, within the first two weeks of
- 17:55working with Jeff Curley, that video was very high talked about. Um.
- 18:03In fact, actually it is kind of funny because he had me re edit
- 18:06it with him doing commentary on it. Really yeah, and I was like,
- 18:11Okay, well, this is an interesting request. I never thought I
- 18:14would get this, you know, working in a corporate type nine to five
- 18:17environment, but here we are, and like I guess they probably were like,
- 18:19you're the radio girl, you can handle it. So I have seen
- 18:23that second yeah, yeah, yeah, thank you for clarifying. You appreciate
- 18:33that lightly so lightly saved me there. Uh yeah, So I've seen that
- 18:40video I don't know, probably a thousand times. Well I know Trey hasn't
- 18:44seen it a long time. So Trey, I'm gonna show this to you
- 18:45because it's Jenna Walsh. Yeah. A major drug sweep in Minnesota, Hugh.
- 18:51Details are being released, but we do know that they made one bust
- 18:53in Maplewood. That's where Jeff Curley is standing by right now. Jeff,
- 18:56what do you have going on for us? They're still inside search for evidence.
- 19:00I'm told six people have been arrested and charged with intent to possess and
- 19:04deliver cocaine. I'm told as much as forty four pounds of cocaine. As
- 19:08they said they're still inside. They used a bannering ramp to This is always
- 19:12amazing to me how it is he never sees it that the timing, the
- 19:18timing of the oh, the timing of that dong. The person I always
- 19:22wanted to talk to was the agent who did that, because you could tell
- 19:26they're waiting for the live shot. They cracked the door open. They look
- 19:30They're like, huh. If you slow it down, you can see the
- 19:36man with the box has a huge smirk on his side. Yeah, oh
- 19:40yeah, we now we we figured that out. We figured that out many
- 19:42many many years ago. One just by watching it, like you said,
- 19:47you could see the smile on that guy's face as he's carrying it out into
- 19:51the open. But we also now know enough police officers to know that that
- 19:53was absolutely intentional. I mean they weren't. They kind of in a weird
- 20:00way. They sort of warned Jeff prior to this moment. They were like,
- 20:03look where it's is an act of crime scene, Like you can't you're
- 20:07not supposed to be here filming or whatever, and they're like, well,
- 20:10it's the news, we're doing it anyway. And I think that it was
- 20:12like all right, well, if they're going to film anyway, then let's
- 20:15see what we can do with their camera shot. So they just yeah,
- 20:18they just they just look around the house and it's like there it is,
- 20:22like what can we confienscate that will be hilarious on television? And there you
- 20:26have it in all its glory. I just hope that it actually was a
- 20:30piece of evidence and it wasn't something that the swat team just carries around.
- 20:34What I mean, you know, I didn't say they had to battery they
- 20:37had to use a battering ram to get in the door, right, That
- 20:41would sure break a couple of windows. But if they if they did have
- 20:48it like on standby, right, if they had to pull it out of
- 20:51the truck or something like that. I can understand that because they've probably gone
- 20:55into a million different places and it's like, let's take a token from each
- 20:59each house hold that we've been in, right, So that could have been
- 21:02a token from somewhere else. Yeah, yeah, very much, it could
- 21:04have been. Um. I just hope that they never stuck it up on
- 21:07the rearview mirror. Oh lord, I feel like that would like ruin your
- 21:15alignment on your vehicle. I'm glad you said vehicle. Yeah, I tried
- 21:22to use my words wisely. You're listening to the Treehouse visitors online, that
- 21:30Treehouse on air dot com nine seven website, Rodney Anderson dot com Rodney.
- 21:45It's the time of year where the housing market has a tendency to heat up
- 21:48along with the temperatures because people want to move to try to get into news,
- 21:52school districts and things. So I'm curious right now, are you seeing
- 21:55buyers getting a chance at getting under contract on homes? We actually and houses
- 22:00come on the market, but buyers need to be ready. Some houses have
- 22:06a lot of bidding wars on them. Other houses don't have as many bidding
- 22:08wars. It really depends on the area. But number one, you need
- 22:12to know, am I fully pre approved upfront? Because sellers in today's market
- 22:18they want pre approval letters from great lenders. They want pre approval letters from
- 22:22lenders that can close loans fast and on time. And listing agents realtors are
- 22:26picking up the phone on almost every deal and call on us and saying,
- 22:30can you tell me about the client? And when I can say, They've
- 22:33got excellent income, they got excellent assets, they got excellent credit. I'm
- 22:38ready to go. All it needs a contract and I'm ready to go.
- 22:41It's music to people's ears. In fact, just past week, we close
- 22:45the client in ten days, start to finish, and just imagine that whole
- 22:49process. They were able to find a house that was vacant. The seller
- 22:53said, you can have my house, and you can get under contract as
- 22:56long as you can close quickly, because they had built another house and they
- 23:00were ready to move into their new hole. Yeah, I don't think there's
- 23:02ever been a situation that I've seen where the sellers like, nah, I
- 23:06don't I'm really not much of a hurry. It tends to work in your
- 23:10favor as a buyer to be able to close quickly. And someone who can
- 23:14help you do that is Rodney Anderson and his team, So give them a

- 23:55All the storms now, a storm season is no longer a season. It's
- 23:56just all the damn time. So you need to make sure that your roof
- 24:00is in one piece from the last storm or is going to be able to
- 24:06withstand the next one. So give our guys at Cooke DFW a call eight
- 24:08three three Cook DFW, Daniel Malley, Trey Trenholme, and for her first
- 24:15time. Now for the second segment, because she's still very brave or very
- 24:18stupid, We're still not sure, Rebecca black both, is there anything about
- 24:23radio? Is there anything about radio that you miss, Rebecca or have you
- 24:29pretty much just said, you know what, I did a Viking funeral on
- 24:30that thing, and I am I am, I am good. I've left
- 24:33radio behind. Oh, and I think I miss everything about it. I
- 24:37really do am miss giving my opinions on like people's relationships and how to raise
- 24:44children and all that kind of stuff. I have found it in a typical
- 24:48nine to five setting situation, as people are not so receptive to your opinions
- 24:55like they are on radio. If that makes any sense, it does.
- 24:59I can't just volunteer opinions around work. Everybody's like shut up. I know.
- 25:03It's like instead of people talking about you at the water cooler, now
- 25:07you are at the water cooler and all of a sudden, now you're kind
- 25:08of annoying. Yeah exactly. They're like, oh my god. Like I
- 25:12have one of my friends he's like, you always have like a hard opinion
- 25:17on everything, And I was like, yeah, because I was in radio,
- 25:19you have to. It got pounded into you over a long career.
- 25:22It's like you better have something to say, and it better be memorable.
- 25:26Yeah. So, now if we're sitting at the water cooler and somebody's like
- 25:29mayonnaise, I'm like, yes, delicious, ball in right, like,
- 25:33and nobody cares about that, And people are looking at you. Why she's
- 25:37so emphatic about that. They're just I mean, and they're like you say
- 25:41that, And then I pop up out of nowhere and and Miraca whip sucks
- 25:47right, Oh it's sweet? Why would you want sweet stuff? When you're
- 25:48sand which it's disgusting. See, you gotta have a hard opinion about everything.
- 25:53So I'm glad that you brought that up, especially when it comes to
- 25:56relationships because in a previous in a previous show, Trey and I were talking
- 26:02about this with our with our friend and comedian rash Arma. I had heard
- 26:06about this thing called a yes weekend, and Trey and Raj are vehemently opposed
- 26:11to this. I, however, think it's a brilliant idea. The yes
- 26:15weekend is you take with your significant other. You take turns, whether it's
- 26:22every other week or once a month, whatever it is, you set up,
- 26:26whatever your parameters are, right, you take turns deciding everything you're going
- 26:30to do for the weekend, where to eat, where to go, activities,
- 26:34all that stuff, and that's left up to that one person. And
- 26:37then the next person that you know you take turns basically, and they think
- 26:42that's terrible because you're gonna end up, you know, on our side,
- 26:45we're gonna end up doing a bunch of things that we hate. It's like,
- 26:48well, yeah, but I just like taking the decision making out of
- 26:52it, because that's where my wife and I get hung up. On,
- 26:56So I've got I'm gonna get. Probably all the ladies are gonna hate me
- 26:59for this, But I think the yes weekend is the stupidest thing on the
- 27:02planet. First of all, if you're having to do a yes weekend,
- 27:04I'm like, your relationship is already in dire trouble just saying two. Let's
- 27:10be honest, one of these yes weekends, only one is going to happen,
- 27:15and it'll be the females, and I'll have my time and I'll get
- 27:18all the yeses that I want, and then the dude is never going to
- 27:21get a follow up. Fact that's going to happen. So if he was
- 27:23to come to you the next weekend, if your husband comes you the next
- 27:26weekend said all right, it's my turn, you're gonna be like, hell
- 27:29no, Yeah, I'd be like, oh, I'm too tired. Oh
- 27:32can we push it to another month, another day, another week, whatever.
- 27:36I would absolutely be brushing that thing off. Plus, I'm like,
- 27:38don't you want your spouse to say yes to something because they want to?
- 27:42But hang on, Dan's not really I think he's kind of skimming around the
- 27:48truth here. The truth of matter is Dan's just looking for a weekend,
- 27:51where his weekend he can just say I'm gonna play Call of Duty, do
- 27:55whatever you want? All right. First of all, shut up track,
- 27:59Yeah, I get, I get the Second of all, it's less take
- 28:03advantage of this. Second of all, it's less about the video game thing.
- 28:06It's more about I would just like to be able to say, let's
- 28:08do this for dinner, and then there's and then that's it, because usually
- 28:12like when I, when I say okay, let's go here, and then
- 28:15it usually ends up being said, well, I don't really want to come
- 28:18here, it's like, well, damn it, so you decide. So
- 28:21but if I, if I say that I'm open to anything, that actually
- 28:23makes it worse, because now every options on the table, and that makes
- 28:26it worse. Yeah. So here's the thing, ladies know what we don't
- 28:30want. So you need to keep throwing out ideas. You throw out one
- 28:34restaurant, we're gonna shoot it down, throw out another one, shoot it
- 28:37down. Eventually you'll get to one that sounds good to us. Yeah,
- 28:40but why why can't you just say on the front end, I don't want
- 28:42pizza Chinese? And because nine times out of ten I don't realize that I
- 28:48don't want it until you say it. It makes me nauseous, but I
- 28:56get it. It makes my head sped, but yeah, I understand.
- 29:00I hurry. I just need you to list off a string of restaurants and
- 29:03I can tell you which ones I don't want. I wonder if it would
- 29:07help if if this is where you could use artificial intelligence to your advantage.
- 29:11So what you do is you bring up an AI bought and it's a feale
- 29:15voice, and then we then would put in there the suggestions of places and
- 29:22see if you say yes or no to the female AI bought. That actually
- 29:26might work. I think that's a solid plan. You should definitely try that
- 29:30on your next Yes weekend. The other aspect of that is I feel like
- 29:36once the dude gets his yes weekend, he's going to ask for things that
- 29:40we already know are off the table anal yeah, thank you you said it,
- 29:45not me, or weird stuff like that. Like I just I think
- 29:48it's a disaster waiting to happen. And that's why I get That's why I
- 29:53get it when you say it's like you know you'll get yours, but then
- 29:56when it comes time for your husband's weekend, you're going to be like absolutely
- 30:00all know, like, oh I don't feel good, my head hurts.
- 30:02We have to push us to another day. Sorry, So I do know
- 30:07now now I know how you feel on the yes weekend. So I'm going
- 30:08to let that go on from my personal life. But I did see I've
- 30:14noticed that we had this conversation with our old producer Jerry, who still works
- 30:18at iHeart. One of the last things we were able to do before we
- 30:21left iHeart was able to get him hired back, and then and then like
- 30:26a week later, we got shown the door. And so we were talking
- 30:29to him a couple of weeks ago, and we have this road show that
- 30:32is coming up Friday, July seventh at Daddy Rabbits Pub in Lewisville from five
- 30:36to seven, so be there, and he couldn't make it. Jerry couldn't
- 30:38go because he still has a radio job, which means he gets vacation time.
- 30:41So he's taken a vacation. But you just came back from vacation too,
- 30:45Yeah, I did. I think you You you people in your jobs
- 30:48just show up and start saying, Oh, I'm going on vacation. Is
- 30:55that bad? No, it's good. I'm actually happy you get paid for
- 30:57vacations you're supposed to supposed to except when I got it, and I got
- 31:02when I got cleaned out, I still had like a week and a half
- 31:03left that I didn't get to collect on. I will say that was my
- 31:07problem as well. I had four weeks left and I had I hadn't taken
- 31:11any of them yet, nor did I get paid for them. I also
- 31:15had, if I remember correctly, I had like thirty three sick days,
- 31:22you know, all told, and I got I got no competition for any
- 31:25of those, right, they don't have to give you that. Apparently that's
- 31:29not a thing. It's like, well, yes it was in your contract,
- 31:30but we don't actually have to give you that. Yeah, it would
- 31:34have been nice, but instead I got a three month vacation of sitting around
- 31:38the house trying to figure out what I was going to do with my life.
- 31:41That sounds about right. Yeah, I did notice. I did notice
- 31:45on Twitter real quick. What are your your social channels? Oh, you
- 31:51can find me pretty much everywhere. At haunt it's Haunted Rebecca and it's I
- 31:53saw my name weird r eb e kah so Haunted Rebecca. My podcast was
- 31:59Haunted af So tieing that in now, absolutely you were. I saw on
- 32:02Twitter that you said something along the lines of, how is people at the
- 32:07Airport not a thing? Yeah? Okay, do you guys remember the website
- 32:10people of Walmart? Definitely people of Walmart dot com. It was like mind
- 32:15blowing when it first hit the internet. We were all obsessed with it,
- 32:17still are. Actually, I was like, how is people of airport dot
- 32:22com not a thing? Because People at the Airport is an amazing watch.
- 32:28Like I could sit at an airport probably all day and just pick apart people
- 32:32like nobody's business. It really is fascinating, especially when depending on what time
- 32:38you're at the airport. So most recently the times that I've flown, it's
- 32:45been at least one flight has been really early in the morning. So there's
- 32:49a group of people that are all getting there at the same time for the
- 32:51early ass flight, and we're all still half asleep. We were excited about
- 32:54where we're going, we just don't feel like getting there. But then there's
- 32:59all al least like two or three people that look like they have been living
- 33:02at the airport for days, and they're the ones that are asleep on a
- 33:07sleep on top of like a USB charging chair table thing, and just they
- 33:12just look miserable. You just can't. They probably are waiting on their Spirit
- 33:16Airline flight to take off and it's been twelve days past due. I thought
- 33:20you were going to say they were just waiting for their Spirit to pass that
- 33:24too, but like you know, when we got to the airport. So
- 33:29it's a very different situation when you are headed out on a trip, because
- 33:31everybody's happy, everybody's excited, everybody's got like on level ten. And on
- 33:37the other end of things, when you're coming home on a trip, everybody
- 33:39is sad and depressed and not looking their best. Right. So we roll
- 33:45up to the airport and we're in line and we're waiting, and there's i
- 33:47mean a full blown beach version of Kenny Chesney cowboy hat, puka shell,
- 33:53necklace, cut off arm sleeves, cut off shorts or shorts. And I'm
- 33:58like, man, this dude is about to live his best life on the
- 34:00beach with his toes in the sand. Yeah, he's basically gonna take every
- 34:05single one of those songs, have them on repeat while he's at the beach
- 34:09and he's just doing a twenty four seven exactly and then then you go to
- 34:14the extreme opposite and people coming home from vacation and they they're clearly hungover.
- 34:20They haven't brushed their hair in what looks like days, no makeup or smeared
- 34:25makeup, their clothes are all disheveled and wrinkled, and they're just like,
- 34:29I just I've got to get home. It's it's it's one extreme to the
- 34:32next. I'm telling you, the airport is the best people watching you will
- 34:36ever see in life. And there's there's no better airport if you really want
- 34:40to get down to it where you can see those extremes from a Friday to
- 34:45a Sunday than the Vegas Airport. That is gosh, yes, Like everyone
- 34:50comes and rolling in Friday hot, like done up, ready to just kill
- 34:53it. And then by Sunday, you know if they can't even afford,
- 34:58you know, a drink because they've lost everything, and they're just haggard and
- 35:05just barely getting on a flight hoping to survive. Somehow. You get you
- 35:08get roped into sitting next to the dude who's lost everything. He's got the
- 35:14alcohol sweats and like you can literally smell alcohol just oozing out of his pores
- 35:19before he gets onto this flight, I'm like, oh, and telling you
- 35:22is there's no greater tragedy. It's amazing. I really that actually makes me
- 35:27realize that may be why I really want to go to Vegas. Truth be
- 35:31told, I've never been to Vegas. Wow. I just want to go
- 35:35to the airport on Sunday and just watch people come home from Vegas. Yes,
- 35:39like I kind of want. They would just sell tickets at the TSA
- 35:43check and be like, look, I'm not going anywhere. I just want
- 35:45to get it. I just want to like see people come off this plane
- 35:47and just set up like a lawn chair and just enjoy the show. I
- 35:51would pay for that. I would pay hell of money for that. Seriously,
- 35:54and hold up the poster did you win? How did it go?
- 36:00Well? I'm just gonna do post interviews off the plane, like as they're
- 36:01getting off, like what happened? Buddy? You clearly lost it all?
- 36:07Well, the thing about it and it's you could the last Southwest flight from
- 36:10Vegas to love Field is the one. And even if if for the few
- 36:15people that actually did do well, you're in such a sea of shame and
- 36:20guilt and regret. Can't you can't brag about it. Either there might be
- 36:25a mutiny and they just kill you out of frustration. But you know,
- 36:29you're just like, oh my gosh, this is so sad. It is
- 36:32sad. It's really sad. And when there's a plane full of sadness,
- 36:35I want to be there to witness. I do love the thought of,
- 36:39like if you actually did really well in Vegas and you want some money,
- 36:44you had a great time, you saw every show you wanted to see,
- 36:46maybe they comped your bottle service at the pool or something, and you get
- 36:51on the plane when you have a huge smile and then you see everyone that
- 36:53looks like they're on their way, you know, to death, and then
- 36:58you immediately just go, I'm not happier, Like, don't wear it,
- 37:01just try to fit in, like you just dishovel yourself a little bit,
- 37:05like I didn't win anything while I was there. Yeah, because otherwise it's
- 37:07going to be like a Lord of the Flies turned Vegas situation. They're gonna
- 37:10tear you apart, yep, because because there's always the three or four people
- 37:15that you can tell, you know, they contemplated selling a kidney to try
- 37:21to they're looking down there, counting ribs and like do I need I might
- 37:29be able to do with that? Put these three on black, let it
- 37:32run. You're in the visit us online at Treehouse OnAir dot com. Let's
- 37:50welcome into the treehouse. Daniel Cook of Cooks DFW Roofing and Restoration eight three
- 37:54three cook df W is their phone number to call for your free roof inspection
- 37:58the website cookfw dot com. Obviously, Daniel, lots of storms in North
- 38:02Texas recently, and that means lots of calls to the insurance company, and
- 38:07that means lots of homeowners dreading having to pay that thousands of dollars deductible.
- 38:13Are you seeing people that call you? Are you seeing them try to cut
- 38:15corners and try to save money because they know they're gonna have to pay that
- 38:19huge deductible. Yeah, Dan, them going out finding multiple estimates from roofing
- 38:23companies and they're trying to find the cheapest way of putting a roof on their
- 38:28home. And unfortunately, that's a gamble that you do not want to have
- 38:30to take because a lot of times when you buy something cheap, it's there.
- 38:35It's cheap for a reason. And then you know, we've seen many
- 38:37cases where a roof starts to fall in a year or two and that people
- 38:40say, yeah, I tried to call the guy that put it on last
- 38:43and his numbers disconnected. Are he answered and he's in Georgia? Are you
- 38:47know? I can't find anybody to help me because I thought I had a
- 38:51warranty on it, but I don't anymore. So that's exactly what happens when
- 38:54people start cutting corners. If you could get a better roof for two thousand
- 38:58dollars more and no leaks, are have a chance of having multiple leaks in
- 39:01the next years to come. Is you're better off just calling Daniel Cook at
- 39:05Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration so you get it done right the first time eight
- 39:09three three Cook DFW eight three three Cook DFW for that free roof inspection and
- 39:15the website COOKDFW dot com Business online at Treehouse OnAir dot com. Let's welcome
- 39:22into the treehouse. Jaqueline from Brooks Plumbing their phone number two one, four,
- 39:25three six eight thirty eight thirty eight the website Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com.
- 39:30I know in the plumbing industry you deal with lots of emergency type situations.
- 39:35Is there something tragic that happened at Brooks Plumbing this week? I had
- 39:38a nice lady whose house we went out to on behalf of her insurance company
- 39:43to do an investigation. She had had a leak that had negatively affected her
- 39:47kitchen cabinets and her hardwood floors, and we ultimately found that a handyman had
- 39:52been there before us and he had tried to repair a water leak on her
- 39:57copper water lines with PBC fitting in. The two just did not quite marry
- 40:00together, and ultimately the leak got smaller, but just kept persisting, and
- 40:06she waited a really long time to file her claim, and her claim was
- 40:08ultimately denied because it wasn't considered quote unquote sudden because she had it fixed,
- 40:14but the issue kept ongoing. She had been price shopping, and I understand
- 40:17sometimes less is better, but sometimes less is just cheap work. And so
- 40:22you got to find that healthy balance between good work at a good price,
- 40:25and typically with a license contractor is the best way to go. And you
- 40:30add Brooks Plumbing, all your guys are licensed. It's a good service at
- 40:36a good price, and that's why you're in the treehouse, and that's why
- 40:38we recommend you to everybody else in the treehouse. So you have a plumbing

- 41:22Brooks Plumbing, Cooked f W and of course Rodney Anderson and our our new
- 41:25friend Rebecca formerly of k Love, currently of Haunted AF the podcast yep,
- 41:34so you guys at on the podcast Haunted A. If you guys are on
- 41:37a break right now, when is the show coming back? Because I'm I'm
- 41:39Jones And for some new Haunted AF so well, we're currently doing Patreon right
- 41:44now. It's five bucks a month or whatever it is. Um, that's
- 41:46kind of where we're holding at this point. We're waiting to try to get
- 41:50some sponsorships, but it looks like October is when we're going to be back
- 41:53for a full season. Sounds like a good timing. Yeah, of course,
- 41:58Well October is the spooky season, of course, and it's the best
- 42:00season for hauntidy F for sure, So that was kind of the goal.
- 42:05I guess, you know how it is. It's like you have to take
- 42:07some time away to sort of figure out how to revamp and make it new
- 42:09and make it better. And that's sort of what we're doing right now.
- 42:13We're just sort of taking a break, trying to figure out where we go
- 42:15from here. What is the premise behind hanaday F. I mean, is
- 42:21it haunted houses, Haunted stories, haunted stories? So we we say,
- 42:24real ghost stories told by real people. And it's when we first started it,
- 42:29of course, the only people that were actually guests on our show were
- 42:32people we knew and trusted right that had real ghost stories and real encounters with
- 42:37paranormal activity and stuff like that. And then from there we opened it up
- 42:42to like the audience for them to email us stories or send us audio,
- 42:46or if it's a really good story and we think it deserves an interview,
- 42:49will call and chat and have them tell the story to us personally. And
- 42:52then from there it just kind of grew and grew and grew, and it's
- 42:55branched out into this sort of thing of its own. But we do it's
- 43:00not just ghost stories. By the way, we do Bigfoot stories. We
- 43:02do alien stories. You have stories about our old program director, Don Davis.
- 43:09I cannot say that we have gotten a Don Davis story yet. Well,
- 43:13if you got Bigfoot stories, that means you've got Don Davis stories.
- 43:16I like that. Okay, Well you'll have to share. If a if
- 43:20a program director grunts in the woods, does it? Does it make a
- 43:22sound if no one's around to hear it, that's fantastic. Yeah. He
- 43:29I don't know if he really enjoyed all that much being referred to as Bigfoot
- 43:31on the show. But it's you know, it's like, well, it's
- 43:35kind of comes with looking like Harry from Harry and the Henderson. I was
- 43:37going to say, was he like an actual Harry Dude? I don't know
- 43:42how Harry he was. We made a lot of assumptions about the body hair,
- 43:45but he is. He was a massive man. He was like twelve
- 43:49feet tall. Yeah, okay, well and the only person that could compete
- 43:53with him in stomping up and down the hallways was Trey and that was because
- 44:00war cowboy boots in those days. Nice. Nice. So he was just
- 44:02a big burly dude that was stomping all over the place like a sad sack
- 44:07and begging us, begging us to read liners. Sorry, don that's that's
- 44:12not what we do on this year, or begging us so like, please
- 44:15tell us to promote something. He's not going to do it, man,
- 44:19He's just not. No, it's not gonna happen. So the Haunt Today
- 44:22f podcast you get you said earlier, you guys have been doing that for
- 44:25like four years, right, yeah, we've done it for four years.
- 44:28We've again like we got to uh, we've done some really cool stuff with
- 44:31it. We were actually on you know Chris Jericho, the wrestler. Yeah,
- 44:36yeah, so he had us on his show. We did an entire
- 44:38episode with him and it was so much fun and he's like the nicest guy.
- 44:43Um, And then we got to be on the Kelly Clarkson Show.
- 44:45So we've had like some we've had some really big successful moments. Um.
- 44:50Like I said, we're just looking for that next jump, Like where do
- 44:52we take it from here? And when you find that next big jump,
- 44:54would you mind dragging us along too, because we're still babies at this of
- 45:00course, we're still so young at this. We have no problem begging at
- 45:02least I don't. I don't know. I don't want to speak portray we
- 45:06don't have problem begging either, But I will tell you that is one thing
- 45:07I really do love about the podcast community is everybody is so willing to help
- 45:13each other out. It's been really great, Like we have met so many
- 45:16people along the way that are like, oh, we love your podcast,
- 45:20like maybe we can cross over stuff like that, um or the people that
- 45:23they're everybody's willing to give advice on how to make things better, and it's
- 45:28been just a really awesome experience. Yeah, we're starting to, uh,
- 45:31we're on our end. We're starting to receive a little bit of that as
- 45:35well. And and you know, being able to connect with you and Julie
- 45:39from hunt to day is a big deal for us as well. One because
- 45:44I don't want you to think I'm just blowing smoke up your ass or anything.
- 45:45Because this part, the next part I'm going to say, is true.
- 45:47I've respected what you and Julie have done, not just on the podcasting
- 45:52side, but what you guys, you know we're able to do on the
- 45:53radio side of things. I've always been sort of a student of the industry,
- 45:59whichever industry I'm in, and there's only two at this point, it's
- 46:00radio and podcasting, and you guys, you guys do it really well.
- 46:05So good on you. Thank you. I appreciate that. That means,
- 46:08that really does mean the world to us because it's just the two of us.
- 46:12We literally don't have any other help, and I will and I'm like
- 46:16a fourth of the two of us because Julie literally she just has taken it
- 46:22all and run with it, doing like the social media website stuff like she's
- 46:24she's phenomenal at what she does. And that's that's pretty much the boat that
- 46:29Trey and Trey and I are in now, and so it's great being able
- 46:32to have that extra resource and to help one another they're out. So with
- 46:37all that being said, that's too much nice and normal stuff. Now let's
- 46:40jump into something really stupid, because that's where we That's where we really,
- 46:44you know, feel at home. It's our sweet spot. It is stupid
- 46:49is our sweet spot. Thank you, Trey. So to that end,
- 46:52I want to throw something at you, both Trey and Rebecca. Okay,
- 46:54I've seen this on social media, probably for I don't know three four months.
- 47:00I'm calling it the red pill blue Pill challenge. It's just an internet
- 47:02meme and it just says red pill. It's got two hands. It got
- 47:07a red pill in one hand and a blue pill in the other one,
- 47:09and underneath red pill, it says, restart your life at six years of
- 47:14age with all the knowledge you have now, or take the blue pill.
- 47:20You get ten million dollars in cash. Which would you do? That's an
- 47:23easy answer for me. I'm like, I want the easy answer, the
- 47:27ten million in cash. Give it to me now. I can make that
- 47:30last. Yes, I am absolutely with you. And my reasoning for it,
- 47:34I think is I really want to try to dig deeper and think that
- 47:37there's more than this. But really I just kind of stopped because the thought
- 47:42of starting over at six years old with my brain, I don't want to
- 47:46have to do all that goddamn homework. No same I won't remember half the
- 47:51stuffs that I know now. I can't remember it from a day to day
- 47:52basis. Why on earth do I think I can go back at six and
- 47:54remember? Definitely not, And I'd much rather. I'd much rather take that
- 48:00easy way to give me the ten million gas, because you're right, I
- 48:02can make ten million last I can turn it into something. I mean,
- 48:05in all honesty, I can let that sit in the bank and make like
- 48:07it'll make money on its own right. There's no thought there in that for
- 48:13me, like, which is what I need? That's what I need?
- 48:15No thought? What about you trend home? I would go with the red
- 48:17pill at a boy, of course. So you're just trying to prove it
- 48:22you're smarter than all of us. Well, no, it doesn't take much
- 48:24time to prove that. It's I don't think you don't get to a point
- 48:34of being a recovering alcoholic without a lot of regret. And so yeah,
- 48:37there, I if I could go back and just fix a lot of things
- 48:40and tell eighteen year old me, you know, don't uh so it's not
- 48:45so much I make you just want to live out the entire plot of quantum
- 48:51Leap. Well that and I honestly, especially knowing what I know now,
- 48:57I could make ten million dollars, I have no doubt about it. But
- 49:00I could make a lot better decisions along the way. Okay, better decisions
- 49:05are not but like, would you would really want to go back and undo
- 49:09all the weird, crazy things that you did because they've made you the person
- 49:13that you are today. I'm still stupid, so I know I'm gonna make
- 49:15a lot of mistakes, just you know, mainly uh when uh, probably
- 49:22in my mid twenties, when I started drinking every night. Then I'd be
- 49:27like, hey, stop it, and you know, yeah, but not
- 49:30for you to get to the to the mid twenties part where you're telling yourself
- 49:34to stop it, you then have to do everything that you did from age
- 49:37six two twenty five, which includes high school, middle school. You're gonna
- 49:43have to hit puberty for a second time. Yeah, that's rough. You
- 49:49have to do over again. And for me, I'm gonna have to do
- 49:52missus missus Chrysler's ap English class again and I don't want that. You know,
- 50:00school is easy. I've that smart. You see the puberty thing,
- 50:07that's awful. Nobody wants to read you that twice yeah, the only time,
- 50:10really, the only middle school was always just the Miserable Years. I
- 50:14mean everyone's just so awkward and braces and everything else. But yeah, I
- 50:19like to had the TV show The Wonder Years, when it absolutely should have
- 50:22been called The Miserable Years. Absolutely because it's the worst time of your life.
- 50:25Junior haih sucks for literally everyone, and you would be willing to just
- 50:29go back and do all of that over again. Yes, wow, Oh,
- 50:34I forgot to mention to you. You're a better human than I.
- 50:36No, it's not so much that, Rebecca. He just really is a
- 50:38glutton for punishment. You must be in order to be interested in that.
- 50:43I was like, man, I got called fat so much from like fourth
- 50:45grade to sixth grade. I would never want to endure that again. Same
- 50:50kids are mean. If you had the knowledge you don't now, you could
- 50:53just absolutely you could twist that mean kids and you could make them cry.
- 51:00No, I was already really good at that. Anyway, when you're a
- 51:02chubby kid, you have to learn how to self defense, and I would
- 51:06cut people with my words. So that's probably why I made it in radio,
- 51:08because I didn't have a problem with telling people what I really thought.
- 51:13You know. I was very good at finding that one thing that somebody was
- 51:16insecure about and then like twisting the knife. All right, I need an
- 51:21example. Okay, so this actually I have one that's not even it's not
- 51:23even fat related, but like I was not a cool kid. I wasn't
- 51:27and I don't care I was. I was like, I'm not getting nobody's
- 51:30telling me what to do. I'm doing my own thing. I'm going to
- 51:31be my own person. And that's how I was. And I remember this
- 51:35in like maybe six or seventh grade, and the cool kid was like,
- 51:38ha ha, watch this. I'm gonna ask Rebecca Black out to the dance
- 51:45or whatever it was our junior high middle school dance. And I'm like,
- 51:46I'm knowing full well, like you're not going to pull one over on me,
- 51:50Like I know you're doing this because it'll be hilarious when she says yes,
- 51:53and then you'll be like yessum. And I remember him asking me,
- 52:00and I was like, why would I want to go with you? And
- 52:02so I like insult him first, turned him down, and he was like
- 52:07damn. He walked away like that did not play out how I had it
- 52:10playing out. He was such a little douche too, and I was like,
- 52:14I knew. I knew That's what he wanted, was for me to
- 52:17just be like, oh god, I cannot believe the hottest guy school asked
- 52:21me out. And I was like, I don't play that way, No
- 52:22thanks. How did he end up? That's a great question. I have
- 52:27no idea, because my theory is how much I don't care. I have
- 52:30no idea where any of those people are now today, and I don't care.
- 52:34My assumption is is that he's probably not doing great, only because my
- 52:37theory is if you peaked in high school, you can carry that into college
- 52:42maybe, but it doesn't typically last. But if you peeked in middle school,
- 52:47your life is probably a hot dumpster fire as by the time you're in
- 52:51your twenties. I can't imagine it any other way. Honestly, I assume
- 52:54he. I mean, he's probably married to some sad girl that puts up
- 52:59with that kind of guard bitch. And you know, honestly, I really
- 53:01haven't thought about that guy until we just mentioned that there is a guy.
- 53:07I He was a year ahead of me. I went to school with and
- 53:10in seventh and eighth grade he was the king of the hill. He was
- 53:15like at that point, I mean I think he was. He was like
- 53:17five eight five six five eight, And the problem is he literally peaked.
- 53:22He never grew anymore anything else. But so he is fifty now and he's
- 53:29still anytime you see him will want to talk about you know, high school.
- 53:37You know, who do we keep up with? Who do we talk
- 53:38to? You know, how's the high school football team doing? And he
- 53:42will somehow mention you know something he did. It's like that's just a horrible
- 53:46exist. So he's like he's like, he's like Al Bundy from Married with
- 53:49Children, Right, he wants to talk about his his his his four touchdown
- 53:52game. Right, Isn't that sad? That makes me sad? It does,
- 54:00like you never moved on. It makes me sad on one hand,
- 54:02But if I was, if I was ever on the receiving end of someone
- 54:07like that, I can't help it. I have it. I have a
- 54:09dark revenge streak in me, and I love it when people get there get
- 54:14their comeuppance. So but isn't I mean, really the best revenge though,
- 54:19is that like I went on and had a I've had a great life,
- 54:22Like I've had a very successful career. You know, I'm not like,
- 54:27I'm out here living my best life literally not giving two thoughts about that guy.
- 54:31And I do wonder if sometimes maybe he thinks about, man, that
- 54:34was really horrible of me to do that, and I'd be like, that's
- 54:37all I need. I'm doing well. Yeah, No, you're right,
- 54:39because that is something that's an adult I've I've come to embrace, which is
- 54:44the whole The best revenge is living a great life. Yeah. Absolutely,
- 54:49I'm like, why should I let someone else's like pain and suffering and misery
- 54:52bring me down? Right, I'm not going to seek out to see what
- 54:55happened to you. But if I happen to be watching Good Day and I
- 54:59see that you went headlong into a dart train, I'm not gonna I'm not
- 55:02gonna whatever. At least they don't have an answer as to how he ended
- 55:07up. Like I said, I'm not even searching for an answer. I'm
- 55:13just like, whatever, wherever you're at, good for you, buddy.
- 55:15It sucks to be flat. Rebecca Black, thank you so much for hanging
- 55:22out with us in the treehouse today. Absolutely, thank you for inviting me.
- 55:25I've had fun. If if if if if you would ever consider it.
