- 0:08Speaker 1: And I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear. When you're a guest to my home, you
- 0:21Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty. And I said, no, guests,
- 0:27Speaker 1: your presences presents enough. I already had too much stuff,
- 0:35Speaker 1: So how do you dare to surbey me?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Welcome to I said, no gift temperature, whyne girl, we're here.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's Monday as we're recording. Yesterday was Sunday. I made
- 1:00Speaker 2: two separate plans yesterday, crushing never again, I had no
- 1:05Speaker 2: time for myself. One of them involved some tricky parking
- 1:09Speaker 2: in mid city Los Angeles where Sunday the meters are
- 1:14Speaker 2: not free and they're only one hour parking one hour
- 1:18Speaker 2: on a Sunday. So that was yes I saw ET
- 1:23Speaker 2: for the first time, I think since I was a child. Yesterday.
- 1:27Speaker 2: What was going on with that guy? It's an interesting movie.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Take a look back. The UFO He Flies is like
- 1:33Speaker 2: built out of stuff you would put around, like a
- 1:36Speaker 2: motel pool. It's not very high tech. So I saw that.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I think that's essentially my life. I saw ET. Let
- 1:46Speaker 2: me see if I have any business, no Patreon, Why
- 1:51Speaker 2: do I always have to remind I've got to get
- 1:53Speaker 2: better at promoting myself. I'm gonna that's going to be
- 1:56Speaker 2: the new me, just tireless self promotion. Get ready for
- 2:00Speaker 2: patreon dot com slash. I said, no gifts, I mean
- 2:04Speaker 2: there's just anything you could ask for. It's there, bonus episodes,
- 2:08Speaker 2: episodes of me recapping the gals and Utah, just people
- 2:12Speaker 2: chatting and sharing photos of pets. I mean, it's a
- 2:15Speaker 2: very nice place to be, so go there. Hmm. I'm
- 2:21Speaker 2: just I'm now realizing my AirPods are probably somewhere just
- 2:24Speaker 2: the battery is probably just draining for no reason. Apple's
- 2:27Speaker 2: got to figure that out. Okay, whatever, let's get into
- 2:31Speaker 2: the podcast. I mean today's guests. I adore one of
- 2:35Speaker 2: I mean, I can't say enough. It's Vanessa Bay or
- 2:37Speaker 2: Vanessa welcomed. I said, no, kid, so much for having me,
- 2:40Speaker 2: So happy to have you here. I'm curious something. I
- 2:43Speaker 2: just want to ask you right off the top, what's
- 2:45Speaker 2: your current relationship with Waimo. I love it. You're a
- 2:53Speaker 2: real evangelist. I feel like I've only been in one
- 2:56Speaker 2: so far, and it was with you, and you made
- 2:57Speaker 2: a very good pitch for it.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Yes, what was my pitch?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Was it?
- 3:01Speaker 4: Well, I'll give you my pitch. Let's see, my most
- 3:05Speaker 4: recent pitch would be it's so nice, it's you can
- 3:12Speaker 4: do whatever you want in there. You can you can
- 3:16Speaker 4: say anything because no one's listening to you. And then
- 3:20Speaker 4: also sometimes if you take another ride share, you never
- 3:26Speaker 4: know if the driver is going to be a good
- 3:28Speaker 4: at driving, but even worse, have a bad personality frequently, both.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Frequently both and especially for women. We get in those cars.
- 3:36Speaker 4: We don't know if there's going to be a creep
- 3:37Speaker 4: up there, right, Yeah, guess who's not a creep?
- 3:40Speaker 3: Nobody a robot?
- 3:43Speaker 2: And you're not worried about being recorded?
- 3:46Speaker 4: No, I mean I I you know we're always being recorded.
- 3:51Speaker 3: That's what it's like, Why more there than anywhere else?
- 3:54Speaker 2: And this one feels more like at least you would
- 3:56Speaker 2: be qualified for like a lawsuit totally if it was exposed,
- 3:59Speaker 2: you could blastom.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Actually, I just spoke to someone who was saying that
- 4:04Speaker 4: they had like all this stuff to do and then
- 4:06Speaker 4: they had a therapy put when they hit they had
- 4:07Speaker 4: to be like across town like an hour and they
- 4:10Speaker 4: were like, Oh, I'm just going to do my therapy
- 4:12Speaker 4: from the weimo interesting, And they had like an hour
- 4:15Speaker 4: long ride in the Weimo where they did their therapy
- 4:17Speaker 4: right remotely, you know, and obviously, and they said.
- 4:21Speaker 3: It was like incredible.
- 4:23Speaker 2: That sounds kind of lovely, so nice, right, Yeah, I
- 4:26Speaker 2: have no interest in zoom therapy, but in that situation,
- 4:30Speaker 2: I think it'd be different. I wouldn't be home right right,
- 4:32Speaker 2: right right. I mean, I think part of it is,
- 4:34Speaker 2: I'm like, is Jim listening through the door. We're in
- 4:35Speaker 2: an unhealthy relationship? Obvious, got it? Got it? No, But
- 4:39Speaker 2: I think driving around and talking to your therapist might
- 4:42Speaker 2: be kind of nice.
- 4:43Speaker 4: And by the way, you're also going from A to B,
- 4:46Speaker 4: from place A to B.
- 4:47Speaker 3: You're getting so much done at once.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Right, right, And you've been doing it for a while now.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Have you ever felt in danger?
- 4:55Speaker 3: Not really.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Sometimes when it has to make a hard left, it's
- 5:00Speaker 4: difficult left. I'm like, but it has so many cameras,
- 5:05Speaker 4: and guess who doesn't have so many cameras most any
- 5:08Speaker 4: of the drivers of ride shares.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Did you take away moo here? No? Okay, oh I
- 5:13Speaker 2: should have We should be clear. Wells As far as
- 5:16Speaker 2: I know, Vanessa's not being paid by waymo. It's just
- 5:20Speaker 2: a pure fashion for the service.
- 5:23Speaker 3: And I'm not saying that.
- 5:25Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm not like, oh a, I should replace them. Okay,
- 5:29Speaker 4: I'm a very hard against right, right, but I'm like,
- 5:34Speaker 4: but should they drive us?
- 5:35Speaker 2: This one? This is one where I kind of agree
- 5:37Speaker 2: with you, Yeah, because I don't know how you are
- 5:39Speaker 2: as a driver. But I'm atrocious.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Oh same, I trust WAYMO more than me driving absolute
- 5:46Speaker 4: And again, it's just like you just never knows. There
- 5:50Speaker 4: there's been so many reports on the ride shares having
- 5:53Speaker 4: like awful things happen with these drivers, these drivers being
- 5:57Speaker 4: terrible and just yeah anyway, so it's just like so
- 6:02Speaker 4: nice to be like, I'm just I'm chill. And actually,
- 6:06Speaker 4: when you get in, here's another plug. They play sort
- 6:09Speaker 4: of futuristic music, which you can change.
- 6:11Speaker 3: You can change it.
- 6:12Speaker 4: You can even put like stuff from your phone on
- 6:14Speaker 4: if you want, right, But I like the futuristic music
- 6:17Speaker 4: because I like to go, I'm getting in this way, mo,
- 6:19Speaker 4: I'm in space.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah. I think I would feel like I had, like, uh,
- 6:24Speaker 2: messed up the experience if I was playing my regular.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Music, right, Yeah. Let it be ethereal.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Yeah, treat it more like an elevator. Yeah, it feels
- 6:33Speaker 2: kind of like an elevator.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Yeah, it does, except I honestly feel more safe in
- 6:37Speaker 4: a way more than in an elevator.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Elevators are extremely dangerous elevators.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I every so often I go, do I have a.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Phobia of elevators? I think if you think about it
- 6:45Speaker 2: too much, you will get you will. Yeah. I know
- 6:47Speaker 2: someone who has a strong phobia, and you know when
- 6:50Speaker 2: you're with her, you're just taking the stairs. But you,
- 6:53Speaker 2: like you if you do any type of looking into
- 6:55Speaker 2: what happens with elevators and elevator maintenance, you're like, oh,
- 6:59Speaker 2: I hate it. I'm gonna get cut in half, Oh, decapitated.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Something's going to happen in an elevator.
- 7:05Speaker 3: But I want to say that for the most part,
- 7:07Speaker 3: it won't.
- 7:11Speaker 2: That's probably true.
- 7:13Speaker 3: But you have to look at those certificates.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah, see when like it was last.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Checked, See when it was last checked.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I forgot they had those in the Yeah, they have
- 7:21Speaker 2: to have those certificates. They should have ratings like restaurants, Yes,
- 7:24Speaker 2: gets a.
- 7:26Speaker 4: Certificates are kind of hard to read. There's a lot
- 7:27Speaker 4: of cursive on there.
- 7:28Speaker 2: There's that kind of fancy. They look too ceremonial. It's
- 7:33Speaker 2: like they won an award or.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, It makes them almost look antiquated, like they
- 7:37Speaker 4: looked old because they've got so much.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Like flowery letter Yeah, like they were part of like
- 7:43Speaker 2: a ribbon cutting ceremony or something I wanted to look like,
- 7:47Speaker 2: you know, just like this was. This cable was checked
- 7:49Speaker 2: last month. The door was checked last month. Yeah. No,
- 7:52Speaker 2: it looks like they won small business awards. Yeah, exactly
- 7:57Speaker 2: the city. No, that's very scary. This is the other
- 8:00Speaker 2: thing about weimo. I want to ask you. The one
- 8:02Speaker 2: reason I do like to drive and I wouldn't do
- 8:05Speaker 2: it in a weimo is I get to listen to
- 8:07Speaker 2: music and I can focus more because I can't look
- 8:10Speaker 2: at my phone as much. Right, So those are the
- 8:12Speaker 2: two things that are kind of like I would. I
- 8:15Speaker 2: don't know if maybe a weimo could like handcuff you right.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Well, you know what you've got to get. I'm going
- 8:20Speaker 4: to promote something else I'm not getting paid to promote.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Is it a brick? Yep, they're everywhere.
- 8:27Speaker 3: I am obsessed with my brick.
- 8:30Speaker 2: How are you using it?
- 8:31Speaker 4: Here's what I do at ten o'clock every night. It
- 8:35Speaker 4: turns off Instagram. Okay, that's the only app I have
- 8:38Speaker 4: linked to it. You can go so far as to
- 8:40Speaker 4: like link your I message to it so that you're
- 8:43Speaker 4: not even getting texts there.
- 8:45Speaker 2: It's a tough one.
- 8:45Speaker 4: It seems tough in case there's an emergency or something
- 8:48Speaker 4: or you have to something send a text.
- 8:53Speaker 3: But it turns it off at ten pm.
- 8:55Speaker 4: And the thing that's great about that is I can't
- 8:58Speaker 4: look at Instagram before I go to sleep, and I
- 9:00Speaker 4: can't look at it in the morning because I have
- 9:02Speaker 4: to physically walk over to my refrigerator and unbrick my
- 9:06Speaker 4: Oh yeah. So and sometimes I'll forget to do it
- 9:11Speaker 4: for days, like I I'll go, I'll be off of
- 9:13Speaker 4: it for days.
- 9:14Speaker 2: That's so helpful.
- 9:15Speaker 4: It's so great because you sort of and then it
- 9:18Speaker 4: becomes this thing where now I will say, it becomes
- 9:22Speaker 4: this thing where I now when I go on Instagram,
- 9:25Speaker 4: I'm so impressed by it.
- 9:27Speaker 2: You're like dazzled.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I'm dazzled.
- 9:29Speaker 4: I'm like, first of all, everybody is so funny, like
- 9:32Speaker 4: we want to be chunks that are so funny.
- 9:35Speaker 3: And second all, I'm like, how do you like?
- 9:39Speaker 4: I get very targeted by cottage cheese recipes like oh dud,
- 9:43Speaker 4: should we follow?
- 9:44Speaker 3: Okay, let's follow up at that.
- 9:45Speaker 4: But then but then yeah, I won't go on for
- 9:47Speaker 4: days and it's great.
- 9:49Speaker 2: So okay, this is that's how the Instagram experience should be.
- 9:53Speaker 2: That feels like I agreat like twenty ten when you
- 9:55Speaker 2: would get on one of these services and be like,
- 9:57Speaker 2: I'm having fun exactly.
- 9:59Speaker 4: It's fun and like once in a while someone will
- 10:01Speaker 4: tag me in something and it will be a story
- 10:03Speaker 4: and I won't ever get to see it. Oh sure,
- 10:05Speaker 4: but it's like it's worth sorry to brag, but it's
- 10:07Speaker 4: worth like missing a couple of those to just have
- 10:10Speaker 4: your life.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Back, I disagree because sometimes.
- 10:13Speaker 4: I do a thing where I would be like, I'm
- 10:14Speaker 4: going to go off, I'm not checking Instagram for the
- 10:17Speaker 4: rest of the night, and then I would like, without
- 10:19Speaker 4: even thinking about it, go on to Instagram of course,
- 10:21Speaker 4: and I'm like, what is wrong with me?
- 10:24Speaker 2: I will fully have like a thing I need to do, yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 2: and then suddenly I'm on Instagram. I have forgotten whatever
- 10:30Speaker 2: I was supposed to do. It's so distracting, so poisonous. Yeah, okay,
- 10:35Speaker 2: so now I'm curious that you're getting cottage cheese recipes.
- 10:38Speaker 4: Okay, So I I've backed off a little the protein
- 10:43Speaker 4: thing in terms of like being a person who's like
- 10:47Speaker 4: obsessed with protein. But I do love cottage cheese and
- 10:53Speaker 4: it does. And something that I've learned from this whole
- 10:55Speaker 4: protein maxim movement is that you can blend it and
- 10:59Speaker 4: add it into stuff to make it have more or
- 11:02Speaker 4: not blended. Like you can put it in your eggs
- 11:04Speaker 4: and then like.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Scramble eggs frequently, so smart.
- 11:07Speaker 4: It's a great it's a great thing you can do
- 11:09Speaker 4: with Greek yogurts. It's like adding cheese to something. It's
- 11:13Speaker 4: you're adding dairy.
- 11:14Speaker 2: That'stylish, right, You're adding it to Greek yogurt.
- 11:18Speaker 3: You can you can put Greek yogurt in your eggs.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Oh okay, I say, why are you adding too that?
- 11:23Speaker 4: I feel like I've had recipes before that I've had
- 11:25Speaker 4: both in them and it's a lot, and.
- 11:27Speaker 2: It feels like a lot. Pick one, okay.
- 11:30Speaker 4: But there's there's like desserts you can make and stuff
- 11:33Speaker 4: with it too, really like what like I feel like
- 11:36Speaker 4: you can mix it with like peanut, they're all sort
- 11:38Speaker 4: of the same. They're all like peanut butter, chocolate, a
- 11:44Speaker 4: little almond flour, like you know what I'm saying. And
- 11:47Speaker 4: then you just make a little ball or something like that.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Or you can make bark.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Oh like a bark. You can make a bark out
- 11:55Speaker 2: of Are you like baking the cream or the cottage chees?
- 11:58Speaker 2: You're just.
- 12:01Speaker 4: I think the barks are more uh like peanut butter chocolate.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I don't know. I bet that's a frozen I think
- 12:10Speaker 2: it's a frozen thing. Yeah. I can't imagine putting no
- 12:13Speaker 2: cottage cheese in the oven.
- 12:14Speaker 4: No, you although people do it, they do well, you
- 12:17Speaker 4: do it when you make scrambled eggs.
- 12:19Speaker 2: You sort of oh, yeah, yeah, I wonder what it's
- 12:22Speaker 2: happening when it's in the oven, though, And it's just
- 12:23Speaker 2: like and fifty degrees.
- 12:25Speaker 3: If you are eating cottage cheese, plain, what are you doing?
- 12:28Speaker 2: I usually will eat it with a toast or a cracker.
- 12:31Speaker 3: That's so good. Can I tell you another hack?
- 12:34Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 12:34Speaker 2: I would love. This is an extremely pro cottage cheese podcast.
- 12:37Speaker 2: I love.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I'm so thrilled about that because I love cottage.
- 12:41Speaker 2: You're like the first guest that has an attack when.
- 12:42Speaker 3: People don't like cottage cheese. I go try it again.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yeah, when was the last time you try it? Yeah?
- 12:48Speaker 4: Try it in a new for well, because some people
- 12:50Speaker 4: like sweet sweet version, some people like savory.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I will go for either. But let me tell you.
- 12:55Speaker 4: If you if you bake a sweet potato and you
- 12:59Speaker 4: top a sweet potato with cottage cheese and then put
- 13:02Speaker 4: some pepper.
- 13:03Speaker 3: On that it is I want to get. I want
- 13:05Speaker 3: to eat that right now. So I'm gonna excuse me.
- 13:08Speaker 3: I need to go eat it.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Just kidding. Yeah, that's like, I uh, putting a sweet
- 13:15Speaker 2: element with it concerns me.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I hear you.
- 13:18Speaker 2: But a sweet potato, I think is like not It's
- 13:20Speaker 2: like a different type of sweet.
- 13:21Speaker 4: But I know someone who puts it on toast with
- 13:24Speaker 4: blueberry jam, okay, and it's pretty good.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I think I'm willing to try it. I would say,
- 13:29Speaker 2: just try it. I love cottage cheese so much.
- 13:31Speaker 3: It's so good. I think it's really one of the
- 13:35Speaker 3: best foods.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Now.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Is there a brand?
- 13:36Speaker 2: I'm I'm curious. I bet we.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Both like the same brand.
- 13:40Speaker 2: You want to say it? I'm three. I bet you
- 13:41Speaker 2: have a better brand than Oh interesting, I'm getting Joe's.
- 13:44Speaker 2: And there's a brand I hate, Bridger.
- 13:46Speaker 3: What's the brand you hate?
- 13:48Speaker 2: I think it's is it Nudsen's k n U D S.
- 13:51Speaker 4: E N Bridger, You're like in the pits of cottage cheese.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I don't even look at that. Okay, not to be snob,
- 14:00Speaker 4: but I really need you to up your cottage cheese.
- 14:03Speaker 2: What are you eating good culture could? Oh sure, sure,
- 14:07Speaker 2: I'm telling you. Trader Joe's is a good cottage cheese.
- 14:10Speaker 2: But you have to get full fat. That's the other thing.
- 14:13Speaker 2: People don't realize.
- 14:15Speaker 4: This is the thing that is makes my brain break.
- 14:18Speaker 4: What it seems like with cottage cheese and with yogurt,
- 14:26Speaker 4: the lower the fat, the higher the protein. Really, yes,
- 14:32Speaker 4: we can look it up.
- 14:33Speaker 2: It's so messed up. That's very odd.
- 14:36Speaker 4: It's great for a person, right, be like if you
- 14:41Speaker 4: have two percent cottage sheees. I know for a fact
- 14:44Speaker 4: that if you have two percent Greek yogurt, at least
- 14:47Speaker 4: the brand, then I use fai Ya Okay, fay yea.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yeah, of course that's what you gotta get. Fa yea.
- 14:51Speaker 4: It has more protein in it than the five percent
- 14:55Speaker 4: and the skin and the zero percent fat has more
- 14:57Speaker 4: protein than the two percent.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Really, isn't it is that crazy? Can confirm? Now?
- 15:02Speaker 4: What about what about the cottage cheese. I think the
- 15:05Speaker 4: cottage cheese like good culture cottage cheese. I think the
- 15:08Speaker 4: four percent whole milk one has less protein than the
- 15:11Speaker 4: two percent.
- 15:13Speaker 6: Let me just double check.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I got to get the fact. So this is something
- 15:16Speaker 2: I'm actually concerned to pass.
- 15:17Speaker 4: I know, I know, because you feel like like you
- 15:20Speaker 4: always go like, I'm gonna get the full fat because
- 15:21Speaker 4: it's like better for me. Actually, like you guys who
- 15:23Speaker 4: are like low fat, you're idiots.
- 15:25Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 15:26Speaker 2: But that's why I look down her wise.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Wait wait, okay, cottage, she's the inverse. It's the inverse.
- 15:33Speaker 6: Full fat four percent eleven to twelve grams of protein,
- 15:36Speaker 6: non fat seven to ten grams of protein perserving.
- 15:40Speaker 2: So there you go. Interesting.
- 15:42Speaker 4: I want you to check you can because but because
- 15:45Speaker 4: I at the single serving ones and I feel like
- 15:47Speaker 4: the full fat one perserving is like eighteen grams.
- 15:50Speaker 6: Here's the twist, low fat one to two percent, twelve
- 15:54Speaker 6: to fourteen grams of protein.
- 15:56Speaker 3: I it depends what brand.
- 15:58Speaker 2: It must be.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Brand it must be brand or curve size something.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's very confused. Well, and this is where I'll say,
- 16:06Speaker 2: dairy wise with protein milk, if you get like no
- 16:10Speaker 2: fat or whole milk, I think no fat has a
- 16:14Speaker 2: little less.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Yeah, that makes sense, which is why it doesn't make
- 16:18Speaker 4: sense that Greek yogurt the highest fat is the lowest protein.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Should we talk.
- 16:22Speaker 3: About this for another hour so you can use all
- 16:24Speaker 3: your listeners.
- 16:30Speaker 2: I need to try the good culture. Do you get
- 16:34Speaker 2: It's Life's well.
- 16:35Speaker 4: I sometimes I buy the bigger servings, but sometimes, Oh,
- 16:38Speaker 4: I make something that is so good, Bridger, I'm going
- 16:41Speaker 4: to send you with and you know what, I haven't
- 16:44Speaker 4: made it in a while, and I'm like, what the
- 16:45Speaker 4: hell am I doing? I make these protein pancakes. Oh,
- 16:48Speaker 4: I'm going to send you the recipe. I'm actually kind
- 16:50Speaker 4: of surprised I haven't sent it to you because I'm
- 16:52Speaker 4: having like a little bit of daja voo.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I feel I haven't sent this to Okay.
- 16:56Speaker 4: It's basically I haven't made it in a while, and
- 16:58Speaker 4: I'm like pissed at myself.
- 17:00Speaker 3: I haven't made it. Like, maybe i'll make it later today.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:02Speaker 4: It's it's cottage cheese. It's it's that's good.
- 17:12Speaker 2: You dump it in a pan. It's cottage cheese.
- 17:14Speaker 3: What else is in it?
- 17:15Speaker 4: It's like I have to, like, I have to tell
- 17:18Speaker 4: you what's in it because it is so I'm just
- 17:21Speaker 4: going to go.
- 17:21Speaker 2: It is like honestly, okay, here's what's in it. This
- 17:25Speaker 2: is for two serving, okay, which is like what two pancakes?
- 17:28Speaker 4: Yeah, except I have the I have it right, I'm
- 17:31Speaker 4: having all my recipes okay. So it's oats, cottage, cheese,
- 17:34Speaker 4: egg maple syrup, which I omit.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Okay, I wouldn't put that in either.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Baking powder, vanilla extract, and cinnamon, and I put collagen
- 17:42Speaker 4: powder in it to make it higher protein.
- 17:45Speaker 3: And when I and here's how I make it. This
- 17:47Speaker 3: is wild. And I hope your listeners aren't porn out
- 17:50Speaker 3: of their minds.
- 17:50Speaker 2: But no, they've earned this by attacking me.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Yeah, they've attacked you. So this is what they get.
- 17:56Speaker 4: I make it in my air fryer. Whoa So that
- 17:59Speaker 4: I cause, I am like then I'm going to like
- 18:01Speaker 4: put the oil on. I'm going to mess it up.
- 18:03Speaker 4: I'm gonna right, I'm making it. I get for my
- 18:06Speaker 4: air fry do do you know you can get these
- 18:08Speaker 4: parchment paper liners right?
- 18:09Speaker 2: Yeah? Of course?
- 18:10Speaker 3: So I get a circle. So I get a parchment
- 18:12Speaker 3: paper liner.
- 18:12Speaker 4: I just pour all the batter into there, okay, And
- 18:15Speaker 4: there's like I figured out a certain it's like I think,
- 18:18Speaker 4: I bake it at three sixty for fourteen minutes, okay,
- 18:21Speaker 4: but I don't preheat it.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Oh.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Interesting because some they say with some sort of like
- 18:28Speaker 4: bread type things, it's good for them to like gradually
- 18:31Speaker 4: heat up right like it.
- 18:33Speaker 3: They don't.
- 18:33Speaker 4: They don't need to like go into a hot I don't.
- 18:36Speaker 4: It doesn't totally make sense. But the point is I
- 18:38Speaker 4: don't preheat it because you almost it would be hard
- 18:41Speaker 4: to preheat it with the liner and with.
- 18:43Speaker 2: All the stuff going on right right, and it is
- 18:46Speaker 2: so good? And then does is the pancake square?
- 18:50Speaker 4: It's the size of my liners are circle? Oh okay,
- 18:53Speaker 4: but it's the size of what I oh. And then
- 18:55Speaker 4: I put like blueberries or something on it. To the
- 18:58Speaker 4: very last step is I pour the battery in and
- 19:00Speaker 4: then I put like whatever kind of fruit I want
- 19:02Speaker 4: to put on there.
- 19:03Speaker 3: You know what is so good on there is.
- 19:06Speaker 4: It's a kind of fruit that the name of it
- 19:07Speaker 4: I can't remember, but I slice start naming fruits. Okay,
- 19:10Speaker 4: it's a small fruit that it's sort of like a
- 19:13Speaker 4: fruit that you're like, oh, I didn't know about this
- 19:14Speaker 4: fruit as a kid.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Let's see what fruits.
- 19:18Speaker 3: It's like almost like a stone fruit.
- 19:22Speaker 4: But it's like you when you're like, how did I
- 19:24Speaker 4: not know these existed when I was a kid?
- 19:26Speaker 2: Only the almost looks like tomatoes? Oh? What are those things? Yeah?
- 19:31Speaker 1: Those?
- 19:31Speaker 2: What is that? Though? You know what I'm sing?
- 19:34Speaker 3: Did you also when you were an adult?
- 19:37Speaker 2: Of course? I thought those were just tomatoes? What are those?
- 19:40Speaker 2: Ellis that's like a specific type of thing.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Yes, yes, per Simmons are so good on it on
- 19:48Speaker 4: a pancake because they kind of brown in the air fryer.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Right. Yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Oh, and you've sliced them. I don't even know how you.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Prepare because they're so new to us.
- 19:59Speaker 2: I know I my parents prepares for They should have
- 20:03Speaker 2: been making those every morning, I know.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I'm like, did I have them as a kid and
- 20:07Speaker 4: just think that? What would I have thought they were?
- 20:09Speaker 2: I don't think we could have. Possibly. I don't think
- 20:11Speaker 2: they hit store shelves until the early thousands. Yeah, they might.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Are they a new fruit?
- 20:15Speaker 2: I think it's a new frug.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Can we look up.
- 20:17Speaker 4: At per simmons a just invented in the last twenty years?
- 20:22Speaker 3: No, we don't have to look that up.
- 20:23Speaker 4: I'm sure they've been around, but it's shocking.
- 20:26Speaker 3: It's like, here's the other thing. Where are you from again?
- 20:29Speaker 2: From Utah?
- 20:30Speaker 3: Now Bridgard?
- 20:31Speaker 2: So I feel like.
- 20:32Speaker 4: I know the answer this question about even asking Eve,
- 20:34Speaker 4: And of course you're from Utah. I can't believe I
- 20:35Speaker 4: forgot that because you know, I'm from Cleveland.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Of course, not to show off, but I know.
- 20:41Speaker 4: How old and when and where were you when you
- 20:43Speaker 4: discovered Barrada.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Oh my god, I was I must have been in La.
- 20:49Speaker 3: I was in New York.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it was either La or certainly I was not
- 20:52Speaker 2: eating it in Salt Lake. I wasn't eating it.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Even when I lived in Chicago, I didn't know it.
- 20:57Speaker 2: It's just on the coast. No, it's not. Oh, it's
- 21:00Speaker 2: made its way into the rest of the country.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I was like, what the hell is this?
- 21:04Speaker 2: It's incredible.
- 21:05Speaker 4: And you know what, I remember my parents were visiting
- 21:07Speaker 4: me and my brother. My brother Jonah and I were
- 21:10Speaker 4: both living in New York at the time, and we
- 21:12Speaker 4: went out to dinner with our parents who were visiting.
- 21:15Speaker 4: And I think, and I apologize if this isn't true,
- 21:19Speaker 4: but I think my parents didn't know what parana was.
- 21:22Speaker 4: Maybe why would they know? It's very Italian, it's very Italian.
- 21:27Speaker 4: What is Like, I'm like, is there something in Italy
- 21:30Speaker 4: now that like we don't know about you?
- 21:32Speaker 2: You're interesting and cheese that has just been like commonplace
- 21:35Speaker 2: for years and we're just waiting for it to come here.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Yeah, like a or like another food thing.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Right, I'm sure there is, right, there must ten years
- 21:43Speaker 2: we're going to feel like such fools.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Because we didn't have like mochi when we were little.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Oh no, that's that's certainly like that's.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Now talking about Trader Joe's.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's a good one. They've very bastardized it
- 21:56Speaker 2: in the last probably fifteen years. That's the mainstream mayor.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but I wouldn't have been able to tell
- 22:02Speaker 2: you what it was prior to that. Yeah. Yeah, and
- 22:04Speaker 2: it's a wonderful thing, so good. But who's It's just like,
- 22:08Speaker 2: who's in charge of like allowing us like parsing out
- 22:11Speaker 2: the new foods to America.
- 22:13Speaker 4: I just like, I'm like, did anyone know what Barada
- 22:16Speaker 4: was in like the eighties?
- 22:18Speaker 2: I was, I'm sure in the US upper crust did
- 22:22Speaker 2: they even? But I think in the eighties people are like,
- 22:24Speaker 2: sushi's crazy, right, You're right, that was like this wild
- 22:28Speaker 2: idea that.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Was so crazy.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:30Speaker 4: I remember when they started selling sushi at Heinen's our
- 22:34Speaker 4: grocery store. It was like, okay, I guess our grocery
- 22:37Speaker 4: store is now the fanciest place on earth.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Yeah, so there's probably something. I wonder what we're dealing with.
- 22:45Speaker 2: What food are we eating right now? That's like like
- 22:48Speaker 2: just outside of the boundaries.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean when I was in New York recently,
- 22:53Speaker 4: I had you know, New York goes through dessert trends.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, they really go there, good bakries.
- 22:59Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, better and so because they because remember that
- 23:02Speaker 4: the crow Nat came from New York, which I don't
- 23:05Speaker 4: feel has like taken over in any way.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Kind of happy it hasn't.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I am too.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I don't like I like those separate You know.
- 23:12Speaker 3: What else I had was the the Crookie.
- 23:16Speaker 2: What did you think of that?
- 23:17Speaker 4: First of all, it's tough because cookie and croissant have such.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Completely different Oh.
- 23:23Speaker 4: I was gonna say, it's like people just think you're
- 23:26Speaker 4: saying cookie wrong.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Oh. I was gonna say texture, No, not.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Texture, texture wise totally different, but but name wise they're
- 23:33Speaker 4: so close.
- 23:34Speaker 3: It just makes you sound like an.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Idiot, like you're having a problem.
- 23:37Speaker 3: You're like, oh, I just tried a crookie. I mean,
- 23:40Speaker 3: like Vanessa, are you okay?
- 23:42Speaker 2: There's no.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Because they start with the same letter.
- 23:48Speaker 2: It's unfortunately right.
- 23:49Speaker 3: But yeah, the cookie it was.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Fine, I'm sure, I mean, pretty delicious.
- 23:57Speaker 4: But it's like, at what point are we just like
- 24:00Speaker 4: combining baked goods and being like, I guess if you
- 24:02Speaker 4: stack them on top of each.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Other, they're good. Yeah, of course they're good. Yeah, A
- 24:06Speaker 2: good croissant is good, a good cookie is good. Why
- 24:09Speaker 2: can't I just have those be separate. I don't need
- 24:11Speaker 2: it to be like a.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Together a dare or some sort of yeah, some kind
- 24:16Speaker 4: of challenge challenge.
- 24:18Speaker 2: It makes no sense to me.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Well, I had when I was there recently with my
- 24:23Speaker 4: best friend Gwen and our friend Kate mccoochee.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I'm sure you know.
- 24:28Speaker 3: We tried the butter dipped ice cream.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Oh, how was that? This is another one. I'm mike
- 24:34Speaker 2: that one.
- 24:34Speaker 4: It's almost says the opposite problem of the cookie, and
- 24:37Speaker 4: that the names are really different ice cream and butter,
- 24:42Speaker 4: although no one has tried to combine them namewise you have.
- 24:46Speaker 4: But here's the problem. If you dip vanilla ice cream
- 24:50Speaker 4: in butter, it's not like a magic shell like a
- 24:52Speaker 4: chot where it can be super thin for it to
- 24:54Speaker 4: like freeze, the butter layer has to be more thick.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Than you would expect.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Okay, then they do put salt on top, which like
- 25:02Speaker 4: flaky salt, which.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Adds to it, which probably necessary.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Necessary, But the difference in flavor between butter and vanilla
- 25:10Speaker 4: ice cream especially, I would say vanilla ice cream is like.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Not that much, right, It's like ten degrees. It's just
- 25:19Speaker 2: like sweet.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Butter exactly, So you sort of go, what the hell
- 25:25Speaker 4: am I eating? Like all three of us had to
- 25:28Speaker 4: take some of the butter off because at a certain
- 25:30Speaker 4: point you're just eating butter.
- 25:33Speaker 2: It's too much.
- 25:34Speaker 4: And then like with the vanilla ice cream, you're like,
- 25:36Speaker 4: I just there's not enough contrast.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I just don't. I just feel like I'm eating almost
- 25:43Speaker 3: all cold butter.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think I like on a chocolate door.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm surprised they do it with vanilla, and as
- 25:50Speaker 4: might work. Yeah, a pistachio might be good.
- 25:53Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 25:54Speaker 2: It's a tough.
- 25:55Speaker 3: It's a tough I'm glad we tried it. I don't
- 25:58Speaker 3: think we need to try it.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Again, I wonder if this is one of those things
- 26:01Speaker 2: though maybe like in ten years. Yeah, it's just everybody's
- 26:04Speaker 2: halving it. I doubt it.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Well, you know, I'm coming up with the business idea
- 26:08Speaker 4: right now, and if anyone steals it, we're recording this
- 26:10Speaker 4: so they know.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Yes, this this happens all the time on the podcast.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Lawsuits are lining up.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Okay, good.
- 26:16Speaker 4: You could have a place called dips, okay, where you
- 26:19Speaker 4: can dip your ice cream in any number of things, right,
- 26:24Speaker 4: even though the problem with my idea is that most
- 26:27Speaker 4: things aren't really good to dip it in.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Yeah, there aren't that many.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Like what would you have I guess you could have
- 26:32Speaker 4: caramel jam jam, but.
- 26:36Speaker 3: It has to be something that would freeze on it, and.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Has to be something that's fairly not too thick, because
- 26:41Speaker 2: if you stick the ice cream it stuff fall apart.
- 26:43Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like whatever sauce you would normally put on
- 26:47Speaker 4: ice cream if you just dipped stuff in it. Right,
- 26:49Speaker 4: But there's just like we've already kind of is that
- 26:52Speaker 4: the same as like ther with those dairy queen dip one?
- 26:56Speaker 2: Right?
- 26:57Speaker 3: Can you do more than just chocolate?
- 26:59Speaker 2: Well, this is an interesting thing about Utah there's a
- 27:03Speaker 2: kind of gross restaurant fast food chain called Arctic Circle,
- 27:06Speaker 2: and they go, they're so bad, that's what you think.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I think they boil their hamburgers. First of all, I
- 27:11Speaker 2: don't know if that's confirmed or not. Okay, I've heard
- 27:15Speaker 2: that rumor. But they have a dipped chocolate cone, but
- 27:19Speaker 2: what they call it is a brown topper, which is
- 27:21Speaker 2: like anytime I tell someone from outside of Utah there,
- 27:23Speaker 2: what are you what? But they also I think they
- 27:25Speaker 2: have like strawberry. I think they've like branched into other
- 27:29Speaker 2: flavors that no one really cares, like banana. Yeah, it's like,
- 27:32Speaker 2: I get why you tried.
- 27:34Speaker 4: But yeah, that's why this business won't ever work is
- 27:36Speaker 4: because nobody wants anything other than chocolate.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Right, I'm trying to maybe peanut butter.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Yeah that would be good, that would be very good,
- 27:45Speaker 4: But how do you get it to freeze on there?
- 27:46Speaker 2: It would have to be kind of a non peanut butter.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Yeah, you'd have to put so much, so many chemicals
- 27:51Speaker 4: in it to get it to.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Be so then it ends up tasting like one of
- 27:54Speaker 2: those like cheap candies you buy it like CVS or something. Yeah,
- 27:59Speaker 2: bad Easter chocolate or something. Yeah, yeah, but it's you're
- 28:03Speaker 2: in a realm of a business concept.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, I'll keep working on my business.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Or a listener's probably getting to it right now. Yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 2: of course, then you're going to sue their ass off.
- 28:14Speaker 3: But I really don't think that.
- 28:17Speaker 4: I really don't think that this butter dipped ice cream
- 28:19Speaker 4: is going to be like the next Barada.
- 28:21Speaker 2: No, it's a stunt. It's a stunt stunt. Have you
- 28:24Speaker 2: been to Libre in New York? I don't think I
- 28:26Speaker 2: have unbelievable bakery. Oh really, And there's a place called Lecabra.
- 28:31Speaker 2: They're both in the East Village that are. They're not
- 28:34Speaker 2: pulling any stunts. They're not pulling stunt, just honest pastries, delish, unbelievable.
- 28:40Speaker 2: But New York is kind of like they had that
- 28:41Speaker 2: horrible cookie dough thing happening. Do you remember this where
- 28:45Speaker 2: you'd get like cookie dough served you like ice cream.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Actually that to me
- 28:52Speaker 4: sounds great, but it has to be the kind it
- 28:57Speaker 4: can't have egg in it.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Right, right, So that's the thing. It's like probably not
- 29:00Speaker 2: real cookie dough. It's some weird chemical things similar to
- 29:05Speaker 2: do you know what. I had another business concept recently
- 29:08Speaker 2: that had something to do with mashed potatoes. Oh what
- 29:11Speaker 2: I was saying? And I actually think this is a
- 29:13Speaker 2: good idea, and people are going to probably attack me.
- 29:15Speaker 2: And I may have already said this, but you know,
- 29:17Speaker 2: Tyer Banks had the hot ice cream.
- 29:19Speaker 3: And how is it doing?
- 29:20Speaker 2: Is it still?
- 29:22Speaker 3: She got sued or something?
- 29:23Speaker 2: Right, probably I'm probably for a lot of things but
- 29:28Speaker 2: that I have not tried, but like tried to figure out.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I got online and she's like, what are we talking about? Right?
- 29:35Speaker 2: And it seems to be just like hot chocolate or something?
- 29:38Speaker 2: But I thought, couldn't hot ice cream just be sweet
- 29:42Speaker 2: mashed potatoes with different flavors in them? What do you
- 29:45Speaker 2: think of that?
- 29:48Speaker 3: I actually don't think it's a bad idea.
- 29:51Speaker 4: You just have to take whatever you'd really have to
- 29:56Speaker 4: make sure that the mashed potato flavor wasn't in there
- 30:00Speaker 4: right consistency.
- 30:02Speaker 3: But but you know, I think you shouldn't.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Can I can?
- 30:06Speaker 4: I kind of like riff on your idea. Yeah, I
- 30:07Speaker 4: would love this business, So make it out of sweet potato,
- 30:10Speaker 4: because then it's already right less savory, right, because you
- 30:15Speaker 4: know how people put like marshmallow in sweet potatoes, so
- 30:18Speaker 4: you're already like in the right direction where you could
- 30:20Speaker 4: add sweet stuff to it. And also there's like sweet
- 30:24Speaker 4: potato pie.
- 30:25Speaker 2: There's all this category.
- 30:28Speaker 4: I would just say my edit would be and I
- 30:29Speaker 4: would like a percentage, but would be or just like
- 30:35Speaker 4: like promote me, Oh sure, I mention yeah, yeah, like
- 30:41Speaker 4: even if it's like not a financial.
- 30:43Speaker 2: When I stole this idea from Vanessa, well, no.
- 30:46Speaker 3: It's your idea. That's why I'm saying, I just want
- 30:48Speaker 3: to be like promoted.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Okay, sure, sure. But then the big problem is this
- 30:53Speaker 2: do you call it? I think you would get sued
- 30:54Speaker 2: if you call it ice cream because it's not. It is.
- 30:59Speaker 2: But then it's like the marketing angle. You can't be
- 31:01Speaker 2: like it's dessert potatoes. No one wants that. So it's
- 31:05Speaker 2: that's I think the biggest thing you have to overcome. Right,
- 31:09Speaker 2: You've got, you got.
- 31:10Speaker 4: You just have to think of some creative branding because
- 31:13Speaker 4: sweet potatoes already has sweet in the name, right, so.
- 31:16Speaker 2: You can't call it sweet potatoes. Then people are like, well,
- 31:20Speaker 2: that's just a restaurant of sweet potatoes.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Sweet potatoes.
- 31:26Speaker 2: It's something that we've got will workshop off podcast, we'll
- 31:29Speaker 2: launch it in like a pop up in New York
- 31:32Speaker 2: sweet potatoes. Oh interesting, we lose the idea that it's hot, right,
- 31:38Speaker 2: which is tough. It's like because you want the novelty
- 31:43Speaker 2: is that it's like hot ice cream, right right?
- 31:47Speaker 3: Oh right? I forgot that you're making.
- 31:49Speaker 4: It kind of to take down town and you could
- 31:52Speaker 4: you could make cold sweet potato ice.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Cream, yeah, for the summer, for.
- 31:57Speaker 3: The summer, but I guess it would be better hot.
- 31:59Speaker 2: And I think I might a hard really hard. I
- 32:01Speaker 2: don't know what a frozen mashed potato is like. That
- 32:04Speaker 2: seems like a hard category. But this is something and
- 32:09Speaker 2: people do it with bananas too, if they like pure
- 32:11Speaker 2: bananas into ice cream.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Oh god, now we're going to get a thousand things
- 32:15Speaker 4: on our phone about that.
- 32:16Speaker 3: It's a good thing.
- 32:16Speaker 2: I have a brick. Well, there's something else we probably
- 32:21Speaker 2: should talk about. Sure, I was looking forward to having
- 32:24Speaker 2: you on the podcast. Vanessa will come by. We'll have
- 32:26Speaker 2: a nice time. No hard feelings. So the podcast is
- 32:31Speaker 2: called I said no gifts. You've been on it before
- 32:33Speaker 2: it was over zoom. Your brother Jonah was present, so
- 32:37Speaker 2: I can understand why you might be a little confused. Yes,
- 32:40Speaker 2: you showed up today holding a gift bag. Is that
- 32:43Speaker 2: a gift for me? That is a gift for you? Okay,
- 32:47Speaker 2: well should I open it here on the podcast?
- 32:49Speaker 3: Sure, that would be great.
- 32:54Speaker 2: It's in't an adorable bag, reuse it. This is We
- 32:58Speaker 2: frequently dose bags on this podcast.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Bags are expensive.
- 33:03Speaker 2: They're extremely expense.
- 33:04Speaker 3: I'm not complaining.
- 33:05Speaker 2: You know, it sounds like you are. This does look
- 33:10Speaker 2: like an expensive bag.
- 33:11Speaker 3: You know. I think it came in a set.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Oh okay, so cute set.
- 33:16Speaker 3: A cute little set.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Okay, well let's get into Oh we should say what
- 33:20Speaker 2: it has on it. It's got little monkeys on it. Listener,
- 33:22Speaker 2: cute monkeys. If you can picture a cute monkey.
- 33:24Speaker 3: They reminded me of Bridger.
- 33:27Speaker 2: And it's kind of a mint green. Yeah, reaching in here. Okay,
- 33:38Speaker 2: I love these. This is a great pair of sunglasses
- 33:41Speaker 2: from Santa Barbara. This is Santa Barbara on the side.
- 33:44Speaker 2: I'm gonna wear these for the rest of the episode.
- 33:46Speaker 2: I hope you do.
- 33:47Speaker 3: I think they'll look great on you.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Let's see here, Okay, tell me about what's going on here.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Well, first of all, you have to protect your eyes.
- 33:56Speaker 2: You know. We're both very fair. Yes, our fair people's
- 33:59Speaker 2: eyes more.
- 34:01Speaker 4: I think that actually the fairrier eye color to it,
- 34:05Speaker 4: Like everybody's eyes are very sensitive, so you have to
- 34:08Speaker 4: be careful. But I think because you have light colored eyes,
- 34:12Speaker 4: they're even more vulneratley actually look very good on you.
- 34:15Speaker 4: And I think that then people will go, what a
- 34:17Speaker 4: cool guy. And then when you turn to the right,
- 34:19Speaker 4: look go when he likes Santa Barbara.
- 34:24Speaker 2: And I don't know that anyone has no one I
- 34:27Speaker 2: knows how to feel about Santa Barbara. I think I
- 34:29Speaker 2: think some people are like, it's kind of boring, but
- 34:31Speaker 2: it's nice, but they've got great shopping.
- 34:34Speaker 4: It's Santa Barbara is such a I agree with you.
- 34:39Speaker 4: You I don't know why I'm trying to add on.
- 34:42Speaker 4: You said it perfectly.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Did you get these while in Santa Barbara?
- 34:48Speaker 3: I think so?
- 34:53Speaker 2: When was the and I'm now just I want to
- 34:55Speaker 2: say Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara. That seems that's a tough
- 34:59Speaker 2: way say Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, right, like Santa Barbara,
- 35:03Speaker 2: Santa Barbara sounds like like a Santa Claus with a
- 35:07Speaker 2: like a Barbara named Santa Barbara. That is a Santa Claus.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Santa Barbara, right, it's like, you know, Barbara has put
- 35:14Speaker 2: on her Santa.
- 35:15Speaker 4: Costa and you know, remember Santa Barbara is who makes cartoons.
- 35:20Speaker 2: No, that's Hannah Barbera, Right, that's right, Santa Barbara. That
- 35:28Speaker 2: might be, but they'd make like flint zones they make.
- 35:31Speaker 3: As soon as I said it, I thought, that's not right.
- 35:34Speaker 2: It sounds close Santa like crooky.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Some people will go, I was just in Santa Barbara
- 35:40Speaker 4: last weekend, But really what they should say is I
- 35:43Speaker 4: was just in Santa Barbara.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think the context you just put it
- 35:47Speaker 2: in made more sense. And I can take these off
- 35:50Speaker 2: as soon as you want, because I feel like this
- 35:51Speaker 2: could be make people uncomfortable.
- 35:53Speaker 3: They actually look really cool.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Maybe this is just the new part of the podcast.
- 35:59Speaker 4: They match your out fit because the white on the
- 36:03Speaker 4: ends match the white on your shirt.
- 36:04Speaker 2: I'm excited. I'm going to see it myself.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Actually are a good shape on you.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Let's see here. It's a good pair. I think this
- 36:10Speaker 2: is a very class Do you have sunglasses? I have
- 36:13Speaker 2: a lot of sunglas.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Okay, good, you'll add this to your You're a little.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Crooked right now, there we go. Yeah, this will go
- 36:17Speaker 2: in my car, in my car. I have probably four
- 36:21Speaker 2: to five different pairs of sunglasses. One is prescription for
- 36:25Speaker 2: when I have my glasses on.
- 36:27Speaker 4: Well, you know I'm crazy about sunglasses. Were you still
- 36:30Speaker 4: in Palm Springs when we talked about when I had
- 36:33Speaker 4: god glasses?
- 36:35Speaker 2: We had. We had an interesting experience in Palm Springs.
- 36:37Speaker 3: We really did.
- 36:39Speaker 2: We kind of relate to Spencer Pratt in a huge way. Yes,
- 36:42Speaker 2: we left Los Angeles when it was on fire. Yes,
- 36:46Speaker 2: and stayed with our lovely friends Omily and Mark. Yes,
- 36:49Speaker 2: they were very gracious, too great to take us in
- 36:52Speaker 2: for way too long. Yes, they should have asked us to.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Much longer than we expected.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Yes, we could have hoped for Oh it was I mean,
- 36:59Speaker 2: there are two are two angels.
- 37:01Speaker 3: They are angel people.
- 37:03Speaker 2: But while there you kind of made a pitch for
- 37:05Speaker 2: a new type of sunglasses.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Oh, I was gonna I lost my sunglasses.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Wait. Oh so, but we ended up at a place
- 37:13Speaker 2: that we had a big discussion about with a weird name.
- 37:16Speaker 4: Yeah, because it's like Hula Daves or something that's so close.
- 37:21Speaker 4: So what happened was I lost my ray band sunglasses? Yes,
- 37:26Speaker 4: and I wanted to get the same kind. So Emily
- 37:31Speaker 4: took me to this sunglasses store that was called I
- 37:36Speaker 4: Believe Santa Barbara Sunglasses.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Sorry, sorry, Palm Spring Sunglasses.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Okay, that would have been crazy, strange branding. They would
- 37:45Speaker 2: have gone.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Well, I could see I could see people.
- 37:48Speaker 4: Attaching Santa Barbara to their name to kind of like
- 37:51Speaker 4: maybe it should be Santa Barbara Hot Potato.
- 37:55Speaker 2: It's kind of like a Malibu chicken sandwich. Did you
- 37:57Speaker 2: ever have those? Our elementary schools serve something called the
- 38:00Speaker 2: Malibu chicken sandwich, Oh my god, which was like a
- 38:04Speaker 2: processed chicken paddy with I think a piece of hair.
- 38:08Speaker 2: That's amazing, but it made it seem fun.
- 38:12Speaker 4: Well, we went to Palm Spring Sunglasses and the guy
- 38:17Speaker 4: there was so helpful and like really knowledgeable about sunglasses,
- 38:20Speaker 4: so nice, and I was like, I'm looking for raybans.
- 38:23Speaker 3: He kind of showed me the ray bance he had.
- 38:25Speaker 4: I'm crazy about sun protection and about like my eyes
- 38:28Speaker 4: being protected because my eyed actors, like, you have to
- 38:32Speaker 4: buy really nice sunglasses, which those are.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Yeah, this is this is kind of the ultimate I
- 38:36Speaker 2: can stare. It's almost directly.
- 38:38Speaker 3: The plastic they came wrapped in should show you.
- 38:41Speaker 4: But but he's also like they should be thicker on
- 38:45Speaker 4: the sides, like you shouldn't have like a thin So I.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Know it's current.
- 38:50Speaker 3: I know you're gonna have to get rid of those.
- 38:53Speaker 2: I do think you can.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Maybe buy little little uh like things side.
- 39:00Speaker 3: That make you look like a dork.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:03Speaker 4: But but so we were looking at what they had
- 39:06Speaker 4: and they didn't have a ton and then he was like,
- 39:10Speaker 4: you should try these, this pair of Maui gyms.
- 39:14Speaker 2: I was so close.
- 39:15Speaker 3: You were so close.
- 39:16Speaker 2: What did you say? I think I said, Hula Dave, Yeah.
- 39:19Speaker 3: You're so close.
- 39:20Speaker 4: And we were like, okay, because it sounds like it's
- 39:23Speaker 4: funny because it sounds like the name of sunglasses that
- 39:25Speaker 4: are like like that kind of looked like those.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Yeah, or like you would buy from like a Jimmy
- 39:31Speaker 2: bufet Rest.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, yeah, exactly exactly Maui Jim's Maui Jim, come
- 39:36Speaker 4: to find out.
- 39:37Speaker 3: So these are the best sunglasses I've ever owned.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Really.
- 39:40Speaker 4: They the way depending on what color you get, like
- 39:43Speaker 4: the way they brighten things even when you're in even
- 39:47Speaker 4: when you're in like a darker area. It's like you
- 39:50Speaker 4: could keep them on all the time. Now, I will say,
- 39:53Speaker 4: in any kind of sunglass I have an issue, which
- 39:55Speaker 4: is that I wear so much sunscreen that even and
- 39:58Speaker 4: it's rubbed in and everything, it's somehow always gets on
- 40:00Speaker 4: the lenses. So I always have to like, so all
- 40:03Speaker 4: of my sunglasses are hard to see out.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Of me because such is a total fall.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Yeah, because I have to just clean them constantly.
- 40:09Speaker 4: But these are the best sunglasses I've ever had, and
- 40:14Speaker 4: Emily got into them.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Emily got a pair of Maui Jim's.
- 40:18Speaker 4: I believe that Mark sent me a Mali Jim's T
- 40:20Speaker 4: shirt afterwards there as we said, they're the loveliest people,
- 40:24Speaker 4: and so Maui Jim's is my new go to. And
- 40:28Speaker 4: what's so crazy is that so many people like you
- 40:30Speaker 4: were like, what the hell are you talking about? Cut
- 40:33Speaker 4: to my eye doctor, I'm like, I just got a
- 40:35Speaker 4: pair of Maui Jims. He was like, oh, Mauie Jim's
- 40:37Speaker 4: aren't great, Like it's it's very like fifty to fifty
- 40:40Speaker 4: like some people are like, of course Maui Jim's, and
- 40:42Speaker 4: other people are like, what are you talking about.
- 40:44Speaker 2: First of all, I had never heard that mentioned anywhere
- 40:47Speaker 2: in my life until that time. And then when I
- 40:49Speaker 2: heard it, I thought, oh, that's going to be garbage.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Yes, because the name, yeah, they couldn't have picked.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Sounds like a flip flop, right, I know, I know.
- 40:57Speaker 4: But people either are like familiar with them and think
- 41:00Speaker 4: they're great, or have no idea what they are and
- 41:03Speaker 4: think that they, like you said, are sold it to
- 41:05Speaker 4: Jimmy Buffett concert.
- 41:08Speaker 2: I'm trying to I don't think I even I must
- 41:10Speaker 2: have seen them. What's style are they? Are? They like
- 41:12Speaker 2: ray Ban esque? I see you you can oh this
- 41:18Speaker 2: is a very styl.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but you can see how dirty they are.
- 41:20Speaker 2: It's impossible to clean a lens.
- 41:23Speaker 3: I think so hard to clean.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Glasses and sunglasses. I think get to a point that
- 41:27Speaker 2: the grease and whatever on them is just kind of
- 41:30Speaker 2: a permanent thing that you're moving around.
- 41:31Speaker 4: Well, what he told us to do, the guy working
- 41:33Speaker 4: there is he said you should take old school dawn
- 41:38Speaker 4: and you should put it on a microfiber cloth. And
- 41:42Speaker 4: he was like, and take the cloth and cut it
- 41:44Speaker 4: up into a million pieces and then you can use
- 41:47Speaker 4: it a few times each piece a few times. But like, anyway,
- 41:52Speaker 4: I did that, but I bought a microfibercloth that kind of.
- 41:56Speaker 3: It had sort of a shaggy texture.
- 41:58Speaker 2: To it, so I got a bunch of those.
- 42:00Speaker 4: I've got so I've got little pink pieces of cloth
- 42:03Speaker 4: all over my sunglasses when I do it, and I'm like,
- 42:06Speaker 4: this isn't working.
- 42:07Speaker 3: But and then one of my because because I had the.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Don I don't. I hope you have insurance because I
- 42:17Speaker 2: have it.
- 42:17Speaker 4: I was using it for my as my dishwashing wash,
- 42:22Speaker 4: no sorry, as my as my like as my like
- 42:24Speaker 4: hand dishes stuff, and someone told me, don't do that really,
- 42:31Speaker 4: because I guess you can go on apps and I
- 42:35Speaker 4: if don wants to do commercial with me.
- 42:39Speaker 2: They cleaned the ducks.
- 42:40Speaker 3: They cleaned the ducks. That was such a powerful.
- 42:46Speaker 4: And the Bell have you seen that recently? Do you
- 42:49Speaker 4: know what did you watch Save the Bell? Do you
- 42:52Speaker 4: remember the episode where they were going to build they
- 42:55Speaker 4: were going to build an oil tank refinery or something
- 43:00Speaker 4: on campus.
- 43:02Speaker 3: No, like the bad guys.
- 43:04Speaker 4: They were going to come in and build an oil
- 43:06Speaker 4: refinery and they were starting drilling, and Jesse, of course
- 43:09Speaker 4: who's an environmentalist, was like, this is a bad idea.
- 43:13Speaker 4: And I think they were like giving them, like your
- 43:15Speaker 4: school will be so high tech, We'll give you all
- 43:18Speaker 4: this money, and like, yeah, I don't even understand like
- 43:22Speaker 4: where it was in relation to the school. But then
- 43:24Speaker 4: there was this duck named Becky I believe, and Becky
- 43:28Speaker 4: got covered.
- 43:29Speaker 2: In oil and they showed it on the show.
- 43:31Speaker 4: And they showed it, I mean it was obviously not
- 43:34Speaker 4: a real dog okay. And they were like, and Zach was,
- 43:39Speaker 4: you know how once it comes when they try and
- 43:41Speaker 4: have like a sad moment where some someone or something
- 43:45Speaker 4: dies and they they go like that, they won't accept it.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Zach was like, no, she's not dead.
- 43:54Speaker 4: She's just not breathing, like get the water off of her,
- 43:57Speaker 4: like she's just and they were like, Zach, Becky's dead.
- 44:02Speaker 2: It's so.
- 44:05Speaker 4: The clip was like going around the internet recently around Instagram,
- 44:08Speaker 4: which is why I have my brick.
- 44:10Speaker 3: But it was like insacts like, no, you just have
- 44:14Speaker 3: to watch beckymore like she'll be fine.
- 44:17Speaker 4: She okay and very sad, but they learned that oil
- 44:23Speaker 4: is bad.
- 44:26Speaker 3: And it's not worth having a state of the art.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Jim Caccio, I don't know so that you can have.
- 44:36Speaker 2: How was this villain even introduced the show?
- 44:39Speaker 3: It was like, you know, I mean the kind of
- 44:43Speaker 3: ship that we.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Watched at that time, where it does not matter.
- 44:48Speaker 4: What the idea is can I tell you something you
- 44:51Speaker 4: know we've talked about this I think is that I
- 44:53Speaker 4: still watch General Hospital.
- 44:55Speaker 2: No, but I just got a vintage General Hospital jacket.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Oh it's my favorite. A piece of what kind is it?
- 45:01Speaker 2: Like a bomber jack? It's like a what are those
- 45:04Speaker 2: ones that are like varsity kind of sporty looking, but
- 45:07Speaker 2: it's not varsity kind of like a base Is it
- 45:09Speaker 2: a baseball jacket? Got it?
- 45:11Speaker 3: Okay, okay, maybe yeah, but.
- 45:13Speaker 2: It's like an old General Hospital crew jacket.
- 45:15Speaker 3: That is incredible. It looks great, that sounds great.
- 45:21Speaker 4: General Hospital if you watched it now, they haven't updated
- 45:25Speaker 4: any of their plotlines or sets or anything so that
- 45:30Speaker 4: you it's like they just sort of exist and they're
- 45:35Speaker 4: our viewers will accept it. It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter.
- 45:40Speaker 4: And in the same way that in Saved by the Bell,
- 45:42Speaker 4: like the sort of like slick looking, smooth talking oil
- 45:46Speaker 4: guys come into the school and you like know they're
- 45:48Speaker 4: bad guys, but they're like charming Zach because he plays
- 45:52Speaker 4: kind of a like guy who's won over very easily,
- 45:56Speaker 4: like a dumb team.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Right.
- 46:00Speaker 4: General Hospital does that too, where they're like, this guy's
- 46:03Speaker 4: a gangster.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Guy.
- 46:06Speaker 4: This guy, yes, this guy, this guy runs the town
- 46:11Speaker 4: crime stuff. This person is good. It's so refreshation, very
- 46:16Speaker 4: pure about that.
- 46:17Speaker 3: It's great. I love watching it. It's just so.
- 46:20Speaker 4: And although sometimes they will try and like steal from
- 46:24Speaker 4: popular shows and kind of like do similar storylines, but
- 46:27Speaker 4: like they never quite get it right.
- 46:29Speaker 2: And I like that. Wait, are you the person who
- 46:32Speaker 2: showed me wasn't General Hospital where Colonel Sanders.
- 46:35Speaker 3: Yes, I showed that to you, Colonel Sander.
- 46:37Speaker 4: By the way, I think the people on it are
- 46:40Speaker 4: very talented. Sure, but they have to do stuff like
- 46:44Speaker 4: for example, I told you I showed you this. They
- 46:48Speaker 4: clearly had a sponsorship with Colonel Sanders. Colonel Sanders, comes on,
- 46:53Speaker 4: it's George, the very tan guy actor. Anyway, you know,
- 47:01Speaker 4: there's always like a different This is when I learned
- 47:03Speaker 4: George Hamilton, thank you. There's always a different Colonel Sanders,
- 47:07Speaker 4: Like I don't know if there is one right now.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Reebob was one at one point.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Oh my god, you're right. By the way, Reba can
- 47:13Speaker 3: do no wrong.
- 47:14Speaker 2: I can truly do it all that makes it, you
- 47:16Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 47:17Speaker 4: Then I go, okay, it's cool, yeah, of course, but
- 47:21Speaker 4: so Colonel Sanders played by George Hamilton comes on. He
- 47:25Speaker 4: is the Syndicate is trying to steal his secret recipe
- 47:30Speaker 4: for fried chicken, and so he needs to go visit.
- 47:33Speaker 4: He's for some reason very good friends with this character Maxie,
- 47:37Speaker 4: and he needs her to take the recipe that he
- 47:39Speaker 4: has written on this like note card in this envelope.
- 47:42Speaker 4: And she has like one of those books that like
- 47:45Speaker 4: it's not really a book, it's really a box. Oh yeah,
- 47:47Speaker 4: she opens it, she puts it in there, and she
- 47:50Speaker 4: promises never to look at it, which it's like.
- 47:52Speaker 2: What, And he's it's not like a dream, it's not
- 47:56Speaker 2: a hallucination. He's just part of the universe. And he's
- 48:00Speaker 2: being like trailed by the syndicate.
- 48:02Speaker 4: Yeah, and then he's like he he says like he's
- 48:07Speaker 4: there's like a warlock somehow. And then but then Maxie's friend,
- 48:14Speaker 4: what's the friend's name. Maxie's friend is like Lulu. She
- 48:18Speaker 4: is like a journalist and she's like, I want to
- 48:20Speaker 4: do a story on you, Colonel Sanders, and like what's
- 48:23Speaker 4: going on? And he's like, some things you can't like
- 48:27Speaker 4: need to stay secret. And she's like dealing with this
- 48:30Speaker 4: awful stuff like in the store. Other parts of the storyline,
- 48:33Speaker 4: like she's like, basically Maxie had Colonel Sanders come over
- 48:36Speaker 4: also unclear to like cheer Lulu up, because Lulu's.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Like, I don't know, I like it's like somebody died
- 48:45Speaker 3: or somebody crazy. But it's like, oh, of course, bring
- 48:48Speaker 3: in Colonel Sanders. That'll make everything better.
- 48:51Speaker 4: And then he leaves and Lulu, this talented actress who
- 48:56Speaker 4: was I thinking bring it on too, Okay, she has
- 48:58Speaker 4: to go, oh, my god, that's the coolest person I've
- 49:01Speaker 4: ever met in my life. And you go years of
- 49:05Speaker 4: acting school, like these people are talented.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Actors and they've worked so hard to get there, so.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Hard, and they're so good, and they show up every
- 49:12Speaker 4: day and they work so hard, and they have to
- 49:15Speaker 4: do a scene with Colonel Sanders.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Calling him the coolest guy.
- 49:18Speaker 3: And she has to say, this is the coolest guy
- 49:20Speaker 3: I've ever met.
- 49:20Speaker 2: I go, I don't.
- 49:22Speaker 4: By the way, They've replaced the actress who plays that character,
- 49:27Speaker 4: and I I'm like, good for her.
- 49:29Speaker 2: You know, oh, because she moved on.
- 49:31Speaker 3: She didn't move on right after that, but.
- 49:34Speaker 4: At some point she went into a coma a couple
- 49:36Speaker 4: of years ago, and she just came out a different.
- 49:39Speaker 2: As they should have. Colonel back.
- 49:42Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I mean it depends if I mean it
- 49:44Speaker 4: would be I think tough if it was Reba.
- 49:46Speaker 3: I think if it was Riba, she would be like no.
- 49:49Speaker 2: No, I mean she's on uh Rebud's Place.
- 49:52Speaker 3: Happy, Happy place Happy.
- 49:55Speaker 2: The thing about.
- 49:56Speaker 4: Riba is like she's never gonna not have work. It's
- 49:58Speaker 4: like she's so beloved. I mean, she's I'm.
- 50:03Speaker 2: Thrilled for her. People just adore her, people adore Everybody
- 50:06Speaker 2: kind of just agrees on Riba for kind of whatever reason,
- 50:09Speaker 2: just because she's Riba.
- 50:11Speaker 4: She's also like when she was on Riba the show
- 50:14Speaker 4: Reba right, because.
- 50:16Speaker 3: I will say I'm not as familiar.
- 50:18Speaker 2: With Happy's Place. No, I'm not either, but she's really
- 50:22Speaker 2: good on Riba. She's a great she's a performer.
- 50:24Speaker 4: She's a great like comedic actress, like you know, she's like,
- 50:28Speaker 4: oh boy.
- 50:29Speaker 2: The only episode of Riba I've seen is the Christmas special,
- 50:33Speaker 2: and I think there's something about Riba not believing a man.
- 50:38Speaker 2: I think there's an unhoused man who's she thinks is
- 50:42Speaker 2: claiming to be Santa Claus and she dumps hot graziness. Laugh.
- 50:46Speaker 2: I don't remember exactly how all that comes together, but
- 50:48Speaker 2: it's there's some elements where I thought this seems interesting
- 50:51Speaker 2: for a Christmas episode.
- 50:53Speaker 3: Totally totally yeah.
- 50:54Speaker 4: I mean I can't speak to but here's what I
- 50:57Speaker 4: will say. Do you remember in Riba that like the
- 51:01Speaker 4: daughter had like this boyfriend who was always around, who
- 51:04Speaker 4: was sort of a dumb guy. Okay, this actor is
- 51:08Speaker 4: blowing up right now. He is I have Well, this
- 51:12Speaker 4: is something we should look up as the boyfriend on Riba,
- 51:15Speaker 4: not RIBA's boyfriend, her daughter's boyfriend. He is in high potential.
- 51:21Speaker 4: He plays like the new boss. He plays the boss
- 51:25Speaker 4: and high potential. He also have you seen off campus
- 51:28Speaker 4: or heard about it?
- 51:29Speaker 2: Oh, this is the smut Yes?
- 51:32Speaker 4: Well, I don't want to say anything bad about it
- 51:36Speaker 4: because it's one of my favorite shows.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Of all time. It's kind of a smutty show, well
- 51:40Speaker 2: in a good way.
- 51:41Speaker 3: It's it's witten.
- 51:43Speaker 4: It's written by women and women like and it's very nostalgic,
- 51:48Speaker 4: and they write all of the men are written how
- 51:51Speaker 4: a woman would want a man to be, in the
- 51:53Speaker 4: sense that they're.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Like, not scumbag, that's asking.
- 52:01Speaker 3: And it's actually very good.
- 52:04Speaker 2: People love this I'm.
- 52:05Speaker 4: Like turning red as I'm telling you about it because
- 52:06Speaker 4: I'm embarrassed to be like so publicly saying how much
- 52:09Speaker 4: I love it because I'm in my forties. But but
- 52:12Speaker 4: it's people love it.
- 52:13Speaker 2: It's kind of like heated rivalry.
- 52:15Speaker 4: It's it's absolutely it's like the next heated rivalry.
- 52:18Speaker 2: It's the next.
- 52:18Speaker 4: But cut to the main character has a very difficult
- 52:23Speaker 4: relationship with his dad played by Steve Howie boyfriend in Riba. Wow,
- 52:28Speaker 4: So this guy it's the same guy, right?
- 52:30Speaker 1: Sure?
- 52:30Speaker 2: Is he is?
- 52:32Speaker 4: He is like hitting Up so High Potential is like
- 52:35Speaker 4: one of the most popular shows on network television, like
- 52:38Speaker 4: the most very good, like procedural but funny. And then
- 52:44Speaker 4: Off Campus is like the number one show on Amazon.
- 52:47Speaker 2: He is like, I got to be number three on
- 52:48Speaker 2: the Star Made.
- 52:49Speaker 4: I want to I'm dump in my age and I
- 52:51Speaker 4: want to go with his I'm kidding because I do
- 52:53Speaker 4: like my all my representation.
- 52:54Speaker 3: But it's just like he's like hitting these.
- 52:57Speaker 4: Huge shows and you go, I remember when you were
- 53:00Speaker 4: like the dumb brother, I mean the dumb boyfriend on Riba.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Think how long ago that was. Think of his journey
- 53:07Speaker 2: to this.
- 53:08Speaker 4: And like of all the people, because remember RIBA's friend,
- 53:11Speaker 4: who I think is also on Happiest Place.
- 53:13Speaker 2: You keep asking me to remember elements of Riba and
- 53:15Speaker 2: I'm just not going to.
- 53:16Speaker 4: I think the same actress now, I'd like to confirm
- 53:18Speaker 4: this who was like the friend, her best friend or
- 53:21Speaker 4: something on Riba is her best friend on Happiest Place.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Which is so nice. That's really nice woman, I think.
- 53:28Speaker 3: And she's very talented to Peterman, is she on both shows?
- 53:31Speaker 2: Yes?
- 53:32Speaker 4: Oh, so she is doing great. But it's like if
- 53:35Speaker 4: you watch that show to be like, oh, the boyfriend
- 53:38Speaker 4: is the one who's going to like go on and
- 53:40Speaker 4: be like I mean, and this is all within the last.
- 53:43Speaker 2: Like two years, right, very recently.
- 53:46Speaker 3: I mean, I'm thrilled for him.
- 53:47Speaker 4: He's he plays a very unlikable kind of unlikable on
- 53:51Speaker 4: both shows in a good way though, but in a
- 53:53Speaker 4: good way. He's very he's a good he's a very
- 53:55Speaker 4: good actor.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Was he an unlikable boyfriend in Riba? No?
- 53:58Speaker 4: Inriba, my recollection of him is that he was likable
- 54:02Speaker 4: but very dumb. So it's like but like dumb, Like
- 54:06Speaker 4: it's like I'm trying to think of another show that
- 54:08Speaker 4: had a character like that.
- 54:10Speaker 2: Maybe like Joey and Friends.
- 54:12Speaker 3: Except it's like it was a character that like really
- 54:14Speaker 3: wasn't like.
- 54:17Speaker 4: Of my recollection of Riba and I guess we've spent
- 54:19Speaker 4: way too long on Riba, but like my recollection is
- 54:22Speaker 4: like he was definitely like heavily recurring, but he wasn't
- 54:24Speaker 4: like a main part of right, you know.
- 54:27Speaker 2: What I mean? He would just show up on occasions.
- 54:29Speaker 2: It's like it's like.
- 54:30Speaker 4: If DJ's boyfriend. All of a sudden, you're seeing Steve
- 54:35Speaker 4: in like succession.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Where is Steve by the way, I mean, Elice, can
- 54:41Speaker 2: we look into Steve? Where Steve is? I mean hopefully
- 54:46Speaker 2: he hasn't taken the same turn as DJ, because.
- 54:49Speaker 6: Canda Minor the voice of Aladdin, he's.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Oh god, I forgot this year Laddin, and then that's it.
- 55:00Speaker 2: That's all he needs kind of can you look up.
- 55:03Speaker 3: His net worth?
- 55:06Speaker 6: Hi?
- 55:07Speaker 3: She's a coep on Paradise.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa. That's that's actually kind of crazy. What a
- 55:14Speaker 2: trajectory that's a role?
- 55:16Speaker 4: So God, I don't know, it's maybe there's something about
- 55:19Speaker 4: like they got to like experience the success of the
- 55:22Speaker 4: shows they were on, but without having to be like
- 55:25Speaker 4: highly like looked at like they hounded, pounded, like they
- 55:29Speaker 4: got to kind of like get through it and like
- 55:31Speaker 4: kind of learn from it. I'm making this all up,
- 55:34Speaker 4: learn from it but not but like in a way
- 55:36Speaker 4: that like didn't affect them.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Right, They got to like be in the business but
- 55:42Speaker 2: lead a normal life. Yeah, and they were probably teenagers,
- 55:47Speaker 2: by the way.
- 55:47Speaker 4: I want to back up to something you said earlier,
- 55:49Speaker 4: which is I hope you didn't go the way of
- 55:50Speaker 4: dj DJ's doing quite.
- 55:51Speaker 2: Well because she is, uh, she's the devil. Wait, she is.
- 55:58Speaker 2: Candice Cameron is burder.
- 56:00Speaker 4: She has.
- 56:00Speaker 3: All I know about her is that she has a
- 56:01Speaker 3: clothing line in QVC.
- 56:05Speaker 2: Is she bad? She's so bad. She's like in a
- 56:08Speaker 2: way that's like poisonous. Oh okay, okay, And she's I think,
- 56:11Speaker 2: kind of nasty about it. I think she was trying
- 56:13Speaker 2: to launch like a streaming service that wouldn't have gay
- 56:16Speaker 2: people on.
- 56:17Speaker 3: Oh god, okay, I take it back, I take it.
- 56:20Speaker 2: You love her, take it back.
- 56:21Speaker 4: The thing is all I knew is that she had
- 56:24Speaker 4: a clothing line on KVC, and it looked like, you know,
- 56:28Speaker 4: it's not stuff that I would buy.
- 56:29Speaker 3: But I was like, you know, okay, so she's doing that.
- 56:32Speaker 4: But yeah, I do know. I know her brother Kirk
- 56:35Speaker 4: has gone, so they must be they're quite.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Get back.
- 56:40Speaker 4: And I don't support Candice Cameron Beret is that her
- 56:44Speaker 4: last name?
- 56:45Speaker 2: I have no, it's b u r E. Is that
- 56:47Speaker 2: butter bummer? That's so sad. At least the.
- 56:51Speaker 4: Other girls, they've all kind of Tony Sweeten had that book,
- 56:55Speaker 4: and I feel like Josie.
- 56:56Speaker 2: Sweeten, Jody Jody, I think she's like she's she's like
- 57:01Speaker 2: a normal adult, normal adult.
- 57:03Speaker 4: And Mary Kate Nashley, I mean, they love I love
- 57:07Speaker 4: that they were.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Like, we're not doing a reboot. It's crazy. They're so powerful.
- 57:11Speaker 3: They're so powerful, like they could buy and sell.
- 57:14Speaker 2: That reboot the Bllionaires over I don't.
- 57:17Speaker 4: I don't know how rich they are, but I do
- 57:19Speaker 4: know that, like if you try and buy a shirt
- 57:21Speaker 4: from the Row, it's like two thousand.
- 57:23Speaker 2: Dollars, unbelievable. That's what Candace wants.
- 57:25Speaker 4: That's what Candace wants. But Candace is over here peddling or.
- 57:29Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, come on, Candace, you still
- 57:34Speaker 2: have time.
- 57:35Speaker 3: It's yeah, it so odd, isn't it.
- 57:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that family must have just been like weirdly weird
- 57:42Speaker 2: people in the beginning because they're so like nasty about it.
- 57:48Speaker 4: And who would have thought that the one that would
- 57:49Speaker 4: go to prison would be someone didn't Lori Laughlin have
- 57:53Speaker 4: to go to That's right? Yeah, who because of scandal,
- 57:57Speaker 4: because of the college. Who would think Aunt Becky goes
- 58:00Speaker 4: to prison?
- 58:00Speaker 2: She has such a good heart.
- 58:01Speaker 3: And what's his name?
- 58:03Speaker 4: The boyfriend is Aladdin and now he's a co ep
- 58:07Speaker 4: on Paradise, you know what.
- 58:09Speaker 3: That's right, that does make sense, that makes sense.
- 58:13Speaker 4: I'm sorry that I was being so positive about Candace
- 58:16Speaker 4: Cameron Bret.
- 58:17Speaker 2: I didn't know she was a little demon, and isn't
- 58:20Speaker 2: she Maybe she was on like The Talk or something
- 58:23Speaker 2: at some point or the View and she was kind
- 58:25Speaker 2: of the person that was just horriblevative.
- 58:28Speaker 3: Although I did know that her.
- 58:29Speaker 2: Brother is like, she's like a like he probably runs
- 58:33Speaker 2: the creationist Museum or something.
- 58:35Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's so weird, like I think, very
- 58:39Speaker 4: trumpy psychos.
- 58:42Speaker 2: But she's got a clothing line and she's she's ruined
- 58:48Speaker 2: a legacy essentially. Sorry, Candace. I've been to Jeff Franklin's house,
- 58:53Speaker 2: the creator of Full House. You have it was It's
- 58:57Speaker 2: built on the Sharon Tate state they bulldozed the Manson
- 59:02Speaker 2: murder house and built kind of a tacky Vegas style
- 59:06Speaker 2: mansion with a shark tank in it. And this was
- 59:10Speaker 2: before he was then outed for various I think me
- 59:14Speaker 2: too crimes.
- 59:15Speaker 4: Because I don't know anything about him. And was he
- 59:17Speaker 4: in charge when the reboot came back?
- 59:20Speaker 2: Yes?
- 59:20Speaker 3: So did all of this stuff happen?
- 59:23Speaker 2: Did he get it was after the stuff came out
- 59:25Speaker 2: after the reboot? Was wow? So recent? Kind of pretty recent? Yeah,
- 59:30Speaker 2: And I could have told you after going to his
- 59:31Speaker 2: house there's something going on with this.
- 59:32Speaker 3: There's a shark tank in there.
- 59:34Speaker 2: You kind of know. He has a wall of Elvis plates.
- 59:36Speaker 2: So it's a little like this guy is something's going on.
- 59:40Speaker 4: And also to pick that plot of land, Yeah, it's
- 59:45Speaker 4: just if you have the money, you simply find.
- 59:47Speaker 2: A different Yeah, why do you want a haunted piece
- 59:51Speaker 2: of land? Yeah? It was, there was a dark vibe.
- 59:55Speaker 2: It was not an interesting I mean it was an
- 59:57Speaker 2: interesting experience. I had a cold saw at the time.
- 59:59Speaker 2: Also kill me. Oh God, can you imagine cold sar
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: at Jeff Franklin's mansion? Not your book nightmare? I should
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: say I should clarify. The reason I was there was
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: for the most normal reason you can some sort of
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: the Ileana Douglas, you know who that is. She was
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: in like Cape Fear and various earlies to the nineties.
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: She would do these things called living room shows through
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: LA to raise money for various things. And my boyfriend
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Jim would sing in them on occasion, and so he
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: was part of that and I was there. Wow, this
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: is like three weeks into meeting him. So it's really
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: a surreal part of early dating. And I had a
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: cold star once again. Nightmare. Okay, I've got my sunglasses.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I think we should play a game. We're gonna play
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: a game called I actually have to take these off
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: at this point too. Darkness the other extreme just blind.
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: Maybe only wear those like on the beach and somewhere
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: where you each don't have to drive. If there's on
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: the beach, tell me about it.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: Do you go to the beach.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: If I go to the beach, I just wear like
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: long sleep bathing suit, long pants.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: I can't have a beach experience, so it's really not
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: for me. Yeah. Yeah, it's just like I'm watching everybody
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: else kind of enjoy themselves, right, So that I'm just worried. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: I need to be able to hang.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: Loose, right, you need to be able to hang ten.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Hang ten, and surf's up. We're going to play a
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: game called Gift or a Curse, but I need a
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: number between one and ten for three. Okay, I have
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: to do some light calculating to get our game pieces.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: So you can promote, recommend, do whatever you want.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: Oh of my stuff?
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Yeah, whatever you want? Okay.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: Where to start? Well, I've got a podcast called How
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: Did We Get Weird? That I do with my brother
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: Jonah Bridger's been on it. We talk about nostalgic things.
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: We have some very fun episodes coming out and it's
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: a lot of fun and you can find it wherever
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: you get your podcasts. Again, it's called How Did We
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: Get Weird? If you're watching the Scrubs reboot, I'm in that,
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: so you can see me in that. And also I'm
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: in Hoppers that I'm the Shark, Diane, she jumps on
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: the car spoiler.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: You kind of steal the movie. That was so nice
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: of you to say. I think everyone loves the Shark.
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: Well, one thing.
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: I'm very impressed with is that there's shark for not
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: being in the film very much. There's a shark, there's
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: like plusy you can buy.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: It's kind of like the big thing of it's a
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: big set piece.
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: Yes, and that's really all that's out in this moment.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Oh, Maddie's Secret. Oh my god, I forgot Oh. I
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: can't wait to see.
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: Maddy's Secret comes out at the end of June in
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: New York and l A. And I'm not sure when
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: it's coming out in other cities, although I think it will.
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: But John Early's directorial debut stars in it. Wrote it
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: it's I really think you're gonna I think everyone's gonna
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: love it.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: Bridge, I think you're gonna John is one of our
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: all time best. I mean the cast is like just
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: it's crazy.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: Yes, are all time Blan Claudio Doherty, Connor Roman, It's
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: it's crazy, believe.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: I can't wait to see. People have got to see
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: that when they.
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: Can, when you can, when you have time, when.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: You've got time, if you find a minute in your.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: Schedule, you'll find some time for it.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Okay, this is how we play Gift or a Curse.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Do I have anything to recommend?
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you want to recommend?
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: I'm trying to think if there's anything I've got that
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: I've seen recently. I watched Contagion last night. Oh. Actually,
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: speaking of characters, I mean, there's essentially the Zach and
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: the Duck situation, but it's Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: I'm saying, my wife's not dead. My wife's not dead.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: It's very much like the Duck.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: Oh my god. Okay, so they probably stole them from absolutely.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: Okay, this is how we play Gift or a Curse.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: I'm going to name three things. Okay, you'll tell me
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: if there are a gift or a curse and why, Okay,
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: and then I'll tell you if you're right or wrong. Okay,
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: there are correct answers. Okay, Okay. This first one is
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: from a listener named Carinn. Gift or a Curse group chats.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: Now, I just want to clarify what they are. I
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: think like a text.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's what we're talking about.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: I think even though it's nice for a bunch of
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: people to connect, I think overall they are a curse
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: because sometimes you'll look at your phone and you have
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: a thousand texts and you have to catch up, and
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: it can be stressful. So I think it's nice. They're
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: nice in theory, but in practice they are a curse.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: Correct, I completely agree. Okay, I find them so overwhelming
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: most of the tests. It doesn't the juice is not
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: worth the squeeze, as they say, when they're fun, they're
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: fun for a minute, but then you leave your phone
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: and if I see a bunch of like ninety five texts,
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: my heart starts raising and you don't really know how
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: to respond exactly.
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: I almost think that, And I know that I was
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: talking about how I stay off Instagram so much. I
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: almost think that those threads are better because somehow people
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: don't like jump on as easily.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: I don't know, right, but I.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: Think over texts, it's so stressful to return to your
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: phone and there's a million times.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: Oh my god. And then like sometimes I'm like then
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: reacting to various ones, Well, no one actually cares about.
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: That, and then everybody sees Vanessa Hart at a thing
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: and they're.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: Pissed, they're getting angrier and a.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: They're like, you did it too late, just let it go.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it's I mean, I'm happy to be part of
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: the most of the time, but I prefer one on
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: it's kind of like a party to me, I like,
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: would rather just go to dinner with one friend on right,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: otherwise I'm overwhelmed. I hear you. Okay, I've gotten one right,
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: so far, very good. The next one is from a
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: listener named Annie. Gift or a curse. When producers get
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: involved on camera on reality.
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: Shows, it's usually a gift, and I'll tell you why.
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: It usually means something crazy is happening, because I feel
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: like they only step in if things are like really
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: insane or like somebody's like, I guess the in the way,
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: I like to sort of see a peak behind the camera.
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: So like, for example, if like somebody is like is
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: like I'm gonna leave, I'm leaving.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: This is I'm I'm out of here, I'm leaving, and then.
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: The producer has to come out and be like stay,
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: it's okay, it's okay, you're okay.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: Then you're like, this is entertaining.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: It's like the peak of the show. Yeah. So I
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: feel like.
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: In general, although there are times when it's like there's
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: some kind of like actual like physical fighting and stuff,
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: and that's always like you're like, that's not you know,
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: But in general, because it means always like something very
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: unscripted is happening on these shows that can feel sometimes
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: sort of scripted.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: I think it's a.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Gift correct over on the same page here, I mean,
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: I'm picturing Salt Lake City Housewives. I'm picturing Heather's storing
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: off while on vacation producer. She's sobbing trying to catch
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: a cab. That's entertaining. Yes, I watched Secret Lives of
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: Mormon Wives. I'm constantly talking about executive producer Russell Jason Staglick.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: He only appeared once, but he was stirring the pot,
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: and I liked that.
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: Bridger I haven't gotten on board with that.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: Should I watch? What should I watch it?
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: Or and or what parts should I watch?
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: It's an interesting show to recommend. This is, This Is.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: It's kind of hard to watch, but once you get
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: into the rhythm of it, you're like, no show offers
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: the amount of drama per pound that this every three minutes. Yeah,
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: most you're seeing a shocking new drama. Someone is going
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: through something huge, So every episode feels like it's probably
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: ninety hours long, when in fact it's okay, forty five minutes. Okay,
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: But then I'll go back and watch Real Housewives, and
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: I'm like, nothing happens on this show, right, they go
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: to lunch twice and have a mild fight.
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that, but yeah.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: It's I think you could get into it if you
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: just have to like condition, I like recommending something where
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: you're like, you basically just have to break yourself.
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: Well, I know you cover it quite extensively, and I
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: know very Yeah, and who better.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: I'm kind of the experts. Yeah, they should be paying me.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: I should be brought in as the host of the
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: reunions at bare minimum.
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: They really actually should do that. I hope they can.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: I hope they're hearing that.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean. The closest I've come so far is
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: kind of former fan favorite Taylor. Frankie Paul liked one
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: of my posts amazing. She's kind of she's been slowly
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: ejected from her but I think she's coming back. Okay.
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: Well, I hope for everyone in her family's sake that
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: that's good.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, You've got two correct so far. And this
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: final one is from a listener named Sydney. And this
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: is kind of a concept I'm not super familiar with,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: but we'll see, we'll move through it. Gift or curse
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: when your boss says they volunt told you for a
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: terrible project and then laughs like they made up that phrase.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Have you heard of voluntel?
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: No, I thought you said it wrong.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: It's a crooky situation. We're getting too much into this
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: shit voluntold. When this was submitted, I looked it up
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: and I think this is a recent phino another workplace,
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: which is kind of like an annoying thing bosses do
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: where they basically assign you to something but then are
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: like acting like you volunteered to do it and so
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: they told you to. Yeah, I'm not like the context
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: of it makes no sense whatever to me.
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: So this person is saying they volunteered you, and the
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: boss is like, it's it's it's gonna suck.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Ha ha ha. The boss is like, ha ha ha, I'm
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: so funny that I use this word volunteered.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: Oh so the boss is actually using the word.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Yes, And I guess it is horrible.
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: It's obviously a curse. I mean, I don't know what
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: could be a blessing or a gift. Sorry, I don't
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: know what could be a gift about it sounds, first
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: of all, it so feels so like condescending to like
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: use kind of a new gen Z term if you're
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: a boss, even if you are a gen Z boss, Yeah,
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: they know they're a Sarmony is the real word, volunteering
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: you for something that is annoying or bad. I like,
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: I don't even know. It's almost like being like getting
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: in a car accident. Is that a gift or it's
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: like it's like, of course it's a curse.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Wrong.
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: Wrong.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: This one, to me is a clear gift because basically
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: what you're saying, I can't imagine any person who's not
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: immediately the enemy. I mean, they really out themselves as
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: you are, unforgivable.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: Oh so you're saying they're showing their true self, So
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: it's a gift.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: I can't imagine this. There's no middle ground with this
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: one saying voluntold Like, who thinks that's a good idea?
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: I mean again, I haven't experienced it. Wouldn't that then
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: be a curse? Well? I just think, well, now everybody
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: gets it's nice in the workplace to have a common enemy,
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: and so they've kind of like, well, this person is detestable.
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: You've thought through it several steps, and you are you
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: couldn't be more right. Nothing bonds people more old person
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: who says voluntold or is just a nightmare that is.
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: Isn't that funny that that is like the universal thing
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: any job I've ever been at, if there is a
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: bad person, you are like, we're all great and we're
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: all going to talk about them, and it's gonna end
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: they and because they are so bad, it's not going
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: to hurt their feelings there because they don't even they're
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: so not self aware.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: I think almost every job should have one. I think
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: a smart boss brings in a villain kind of a mark,
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: you know, or what's the phrase in wrestling? A what's
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: that thing that they call the person who's the villain
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: and wrestling? Why am I trying to figure out?
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: I think it would be villain?
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: A heel, A heel? He Yes, I think a heel
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: is a good thing to have at the work. I
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: think I think for sure, you're right, You're right.
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: It's that person is basically voluntolding themselves that they're the heel.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Yeah. Total, I'm god. I hope I don't run into
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: somebody doing that to me. I don't. I really don't
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: know what I would do well, you got two out
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: of three?
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: Would you ever say would you ever say it.
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: In a different way, like would you ever go, Oh,
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: my boss volunt told me that I have to do
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: this thing. Is that how you would say it? Or
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: or do you only use it when you're doing it?
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: It seems like an impossible word to use, like verb wise,
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: it makes no sense to me, voluntold, Yeah, because it's
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: like if I'm saying it to you, I volunteered you
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: to take out the garbage. It's not like it's almost
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: past tense. Yeah. Maybe it's like you're it seems past tense, right,
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: like you say to the other horrible bosses, I volunteered
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: them to do this. Yeah, because you can't say it presently.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Unless you said I'm going to volunteer them that you
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: want to do it.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: Oh, volunte It starts to sound like show and tell. Yeah,
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: v crook territories, Ellis, have you ever heard of volunteered?
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Not until today. I looked it up and it seems
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: to be a new phenomenon. Yeah, we gotta nip that
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: in the bud. I really do. Well. Let's answer a
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: listener question. Okay, people are begging, they're writing into I
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: said no, gifts at gmail dot com just desperate for answers. Okay,
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: this is high Bridger. They don't mention you. My parents
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: gave me a couch original retail about eight K wow
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: three I roll emojis. Every couch I've ever purchased has
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: been used and not more than two hundred dollars. They
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: grew tired of the couch and spent two K to
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: have it shipped to me. When I found out how
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: much it would cost, I implored them to cancel delivery,
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: but to no avail anyway. I now have this burden
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: of a nice couch. I'm a person who hasn't exactly
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: found home yet and move almost yearly. It's such a
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: fucking hassle. Okay, getting a little nasty. I've spent more
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: than I ever would on a couch to have this
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: beast moved from apartment to apartment? Is this my curse
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: for the rest of my life? Thanks for the advice
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: your guests can rot now this is This person's got
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: a bad ad.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: I don't like this person's attitude one bit.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: I don't either. I don't appreciate this. It's cruel. And
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: her name's Lisa. If we want a name her. Her
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: name's Lisa. Lisa comes in begging for help and also
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: just insulting. Let's try to avoid that and talk about
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: this couch an eight thousand dollars ten thousand dollars total
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: after this ship is. Yeah.
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: Well, first of all, I want to say, with an
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: attitude like Lisa, there's no couch.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: That's gonna You'll never be happy.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: The couch isn't the problem.
- 1:14:30Speaker 4: And I'm sorry to come so directly at you, Lisa,
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: but I think I think that's where we start.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: Get a mirror, Yeah, get an eight thousand dollars. Yeah, maybe, yeah,
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: this is I mean, it's hard for me to look
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: past that, but I mean, I'm the thing I'm seeing
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: is Lisa is somebody who's causing her own issues. If
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: I'm if I'm shipped an eight thousand dollars couch obviously
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: for I Kia or living spaces, this is eight thousand,
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: I'm selling it immediately.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I'm not.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: I don't care what my parents think. I'm saying Craigslist,
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: I have a couch for five hundred dollars originally eight
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: k retail. I'm not entirely sure. I think Lisa is
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: desperate for attention.
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: Well, it seems like Lisa feels some kind of some
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: kind of responsibility to her parents, which is keeping her
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: from selling the couch. Like it seems like she her
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: parents didn't It's not her parents didn't want it anymore.
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: Doesn't sell like her parents were like, this is our
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: favorite couch, we have to keep it in the family.
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: Like it seems like they didn't want it. So why
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: does she I agree? It's like, either sell it and
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: stop talking about it, or if you're so, if you
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: feel so guilty about getting rid of it, then just
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: keep it in.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: Stop talking about it.
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: So either those stop talking about it.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Yeah, just find a place for it to be.
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: Like Lisa has told me to rot, which is the
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: first time anyone's ever said that to me about me.
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: And so I don't have like a ton of patients
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: for this person. Neither of you are.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: I have to defend you, thank you. I have to
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: stand in the way here and say, Lisa, you crossed
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: a line. I know you're in a bad mood about
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: moving a couch all the time, obviously on the lamb
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: or something. She's a drifter, let's say it. She's a
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: drifter with an expensive couch.
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: I think Lisa needs to figure out where do I
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: want to live?
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: And do I want this couch there? She needs to
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: find out who she is. Yeah.
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: Also, guess what's more of a nightmare than an eight
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: thousand dollars couch moving once a year?
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: Yeah? Stop moving?
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: Stop moving? That's expensive too.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: What are you running from? What are you running from? Lisa?
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: And she's moving, she's running to space is big enough
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: for a couch, So it's like she obviously has stuff.
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: I thought her issue was going to be this couch
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: doesn't fit in my place. It sounds like you got
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: space for an eight thousand dollars couch.
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: You're doing okay, Yeah, mansioned a mansion.
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: Look, get it in a different way, Lisa, you're doing
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: pretty well. Maybe stop moving and get rid of the
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: couch if you hate it so much, and stop talking.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: About it, and stop being rude to people you don't
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: even know.
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it's unfair. Yeah, ultimately an unfair person, and her
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: parents were right to burden her with a piece of
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: expensive furniture. What a fool, don't write back in Lisa, Well,
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: we answered the question perfectly, and Lisa's problem is solved.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: That's great. If she will just face it.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: She just needs to face her problem.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: Face herself, which is herself, which is probably hard to
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: do because she writes nasty emails. But whatever, Steely, Well,
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: I've got my new pair of shades. Santa Barbara. It's
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: so hard to put these on with head with headphones.
