- 0:00Speaker 1: College Football Talk Daily, we were talking about the playoff thing,
- 0:06Speaker 1: and the first information is coming out about the playoff
- 0:09Speaker 1: with Rich Clark, the executive director, doing a webinar today
- 0:14Speaker 1: that I was listening to and watching that webinar, and
- 0:17Speaker 1: he'll join us on the program tomorrow. Next Tuesday, of course,
- 0:21Speaker 1: is the first release of college football playoff rankings, and
- 0:26Speaker 1: as Rich Clark pointed out, it'll be just like it's
- 0:30Speaker 1: been in past year as a top twenty five, twenty
- 0:32Speaker 1: five down to one.
- 0:34Speaker 2: That's the way that we'll go.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Anyway, here's something else that came down since we're talking
- 0:37Speaker 1: college football news from CFP NO from CFB Talk It says,
- 0:46Speaker 1: here's the headline. Horrific news for TC going into an
- 0:50Speaker 1: important rivalry game Saturday.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Breaking news.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Quarterback Josh Hoover has been suspended indefinitely due to low GPA. Wow,
- 1:02Speaker 1: Hoover needs a minimum two point oh GPA to play.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I didn't know that was still a thing. I didn't either.
- 1:10Speaker 2: With all the.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Resources that these college kids have at their disposal, there's
- 1:15Speaker 3: really no excuse for you to be failing classes like
- 1:18Speaker 3: that unless you just do not show up the class whatsoever.
- 1:21Speaker 3: And even then, I mean hey Google, Roy Williams.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Yeah, here's somebody like you said, said, boy, I haven't
- 1:31Speaker 1: seen this happen in years. With all the high priced tutors,
- 1:34Speaker 1: classes built for athletes and coaches focused on academic performance.
- 1:38Speaker 2: How can this happen? We hear about it a lot
- 1:41Speaker 2: in the high school level. Craigs.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I'm sure, no pass, no play. Yeah, it's quite simple. There,
- 1:46Speaker 1: here's somebody else. How does a football player get suspended?
- 1:50Speaker 1: Aren't they famously not taking real classes away? Oh gosh,
- 1:58Speaker 1: that's gonna be bizarre if if that is indeed the case.
- 2:05Speaker 2: So wow.
- 2:07Speaker 1: So anyway, and big game for them, because aren't they
- 2:13Speaker 1: playing Baylor this weekend? Let me double checking that as
- 2:18Speaker 1: TCU was trying. TCUH got that win last week over
- 2:25Speaker 1: Texas Tech at home rally back when to win there,
- 2:30Speaker 1: They're in Waco Saturday night playing Baylor Saturday.
- 2:35Speaker 2: See.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Now, let me tell you something I remember I was
- 2:39Speaker 1: telling you this story yesterday about how a lot of
- 2:42Speaker 1: fans of both SMU and Pittsburgh were a little bit
- 2:46Speaker 1: incensed that their game, which is a huge game in
- 2:50Speaker 1: the ACC which would really define who which team is
- 2:58Speaker 1: the biggest threat to either Clemson or Miami to try
- 3:02Speaker 1: to get into the a SEC Championship game and the
- 3:05Speaker 1: game's on ACC network, It's not on one of the
- 3:09Speaker 1: ESPN platforms, and say, oh yeah, because he you know,
- 3:13Speaker 1: because the SEC. You know, that's that's just how that is.
- 3:17Speaker 1: You know, they get all the h they get all
- 3:19Speaker 1: the great windows on that. So I'm looking to see
- 3:23Speaker 1: what the evening window is. See the afternoon window Florida,
- 3:27Speaker 1: Georgia's two thirty. Oh yeah, it's Texas A and m
- 3:30Speaker 1: at South Carolina and on on ABC. So there are
- 3:37Speaker 1: folks are grumbling about that, but you know that wouldn't
- 3:41Speaker 1: be Mike Grumble, wouldn't wouldn't be for that if I
- 3:46Speaker 1: was an ACC person, Mike Grumble would be for the
- 3:50Speaker 1: fact that TCU Baylor is on ESPN two. I would agree, Yeah,
- 3:56Speaker 1: five and three against four and four TCU trying to
- 3:59Speaker 1: get Bowl eligible and trying to get one step close
- 4:01Speaker 1: to Bowl eligibility. You know, Kansas State and Houston is
- 4:06Speaker 1: own Fox. But that's Big twelve again. So anyway, that's
- 4:13Speaker 1: that's the situation with my cousins broadcast. He's see in Baylor,
- 4:17Speaker 1: good Man, my cousins good Man. I always enjoyed visiting
- 4:21Speaker 1: with him. NFL notes quarterbacks being benched, as we know,
- 4:27Speaker 1: with Anthony Richardson being sacked for the game on Sunday
- 4:32Speaker 1: night against the Vikings. For the Colts, thirty nine year
- 4:35Speaker 1: old Joe Flacco will be handed the keys and Bryce
- 4:39Speaker 1: Young is going to start for the Panthers. He's going
- 4:43Speaker 1: to make a second straight start for them. That'll be
- 4:47Speaker 1: against the Saints on Sunday because Anthony Dalton injured his thing.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Andy Dalton, Yeah, continues to rehab from a spring thumb
- 4:57Speaker 1: on his throwing hand, which he suffered last week in
- 4:59Speaker 1: a car accident. Dalton was a full participant in practice today.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, but he's expected to be Young's back
- 5:09Speaker 1: back up. That's such a Panthers Dave Canalis was not
- 5:14Speaker 1: trying to be cute or try it or or do
- 5:18Speaker 1: a pun or a pun or anything like that when
- 5:21Speaker 1: he said, and here's the quote. To me, it was
- 5:24Speaker 1: taking the decision out of Andy's hands because of the thumbs.
- 5:29Speaker 1: But he wasn't saying it because of that. He goes,
- 5:31Speaker 1: if you were to ask Andy, could you go, he'd
- 5:33Speaker 1: say yes. And for me, he's like a week removed
- 5:36Speaker 1: from a thumb injury and I just want to make
- 5:37Speaker 1: sure that we're putting him back out there in the
- 5:39Speaker 1: right state and the right framework. And I'm excited for
- 5:42Speaker 1: Bryce to have another opportunity to build on things that
- 5:45Speaker 1: we've talked about, to continue to just grow and get
- 5:48Speaker 1: that experience and we talked about is invaluable. So there's that.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Here's the other news you need to know about that game.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Jonathan Brooks may make his debut, Yes, sir, so, I'm
- 5:59Speaker 1: GOODJB the lifetime Longhorn. He's not going to start Cheba Hubbard.
- 6:07Speaker 1: We'll get the start, but it said he'll get some
- 6:11Speaker 1: reps if he's ready. He's been working hard and they
- 6:15Speaker 1: think that he wants to see him for a full
- 6:18Speaker 1: week before committing to playing him on Sunday, But he
- 6:22Speaker 1: said thinking about him and making sure he's confident ready
- 6:26Speaker 1: to go. So we're going to stack up a few
- 6:28Speaker 1: more days here before we make that decision.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Looking at the point differential, Craig thirty two NFL teams,
- 6:34Speaker 3: of course, the thirty first worst point differential in the
- 6:40Speaker 3: National Football League this season the one in six Tennessee
- 6:42Speaker 3: Titans negative seventy six, the Carolina Panthers negative one hundred
- 6:48Speaker 3: and forty seven. They've been outscored by one hundred and
- 6:52Speaker 3: forty seven points total this season.
- 6:54Speaker 2: That is so bad. Yeah, yeah, that's awful.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I mean they're they're close to being over one hundred
- 7:01Speaker 3: points worse than the thirty first worst team in the NFL.
- 7:06Speaker 2: So you're saying the Panthers are the worst team in
- 7:09Speaker 2: the NFL. Ah, by far.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I think so, and I think their fans would tell you.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I mean, are they worse than the Titans? I think so.
- 7:16Speaker 3: I think if those two teams played right now on
- 7:18Speaker 3: a neutral field, the Titans would be favored to win
- 7:22Speaker 3: by like four and a half points.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Would the Cowboys beat them? The Panthers, Oh, I don't know.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Say I knew that would throw you off.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I mean, if any Dalton's playing, they there's an upset there.
- 7:37Speaker 3: With Bryce Young, I don't know. I think he's good
- 7:39Speaker 3: for at least one or two interceptions right now. And
- 7:41Speaker 3: the Panthers, I mean, they just traded their only good
- 7:44Speaker 3: receiving weapon, Deontay Johnson to the Ravens, so I think
- 7:49Speaker 3: they have Adam Thielen as their number one receiver. I
- 7:51Speaker 3: don't know if he's still even on the football team.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I hope Jonathan Brooks will make the team. Yeah, but
- 7:56Speaker 3: they're they're there. It should be a fire cell for
- 7:59Speaker 3: the Panthers.
- 7:59Speaker 1: You don't. It's gonna be interesting to see, is if
- 8:02Speaker 1: both Let's just say the Cowboys and the Panthers don't
- 8:08Speaker 1: win a single game between now and December fifteenth. They
- 8:10Speaker 1: play in Charlotte. The Cowboys play at Carolina on December fifteenth.
- 8:17Speaker 1: So because the Cowboys, you know, we've talked about this,
- 8:23Speaker 1: how bleak is the outlook for the Cowboys.
- 8:25Speaker 2: The next five games are brutal. They go to Atlanta.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Then they have the Eagles at home, lost and loss,
- 8:32Speaker 1: Texans at home on a Monday night.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Big loss.
- 8:35Speaker 1: At Washington, big loss, Giants at home. Yes, next four okay,
- 8:41Speaker 1: the six games. Really the seven game struts the fact
- 8:44Speaker 1: that they were able to beat Pittsburgh. If Pittsburgh starts
- 8:47Speaker 1: Russell Wilson, they may win that game because considering Fields
- 8:51Speaker 1: is awful in that game and it came down to
- 8:53Speaker 1: a couple of fluke plays at the very end. Cowboys,
- 8:57Speaker 1: there are two of their three wins this season have
- 9:00Speaker 1: by have come by combined five points three over the Steelers.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I can't add math eight points five over
- 9:07Speaker 1: the Steelers, three over the Steelers, five over the Giants,
- 9:09Speaker 1: and then they had a week win win over the Browns,
- 9:11Speaker 1: which doesn't count. Yeah yeah, uh so, all right, so
- 9:15Speaker 1: you're saying Falcons, Eagles, Texans, and Commanders are all going
- 9:18Speaker 1: to be losses.
- 9:18Speaker 3: You think so, unless you know the injuries keep piling
- 9:21Speaker 3: up in Houston, you know, unless you know Hurts is
- 9:25Speaker 3: out for Philadelphia or Jayden Daniels is out, I don't.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I don't see how this current Dallas Cowboys roster wins.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Now.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Your argument is that, Okay, they got Deron Bland back
- 9:34Speaker 3: off the ir today. I think you're goodn't. You're gonna
- 9:38Speaker 3: have Michael Parsons back, you would think, by at least Philadelphia,
- 9:43Speaker 3: maybe Houston, DeMarcus Lawrence possibly, So you're getting some guys
- 9:47Speaker 3: back there. That's the argument for Dallas winning some of
- 9:49Speaker 3: these games. But I mean, these are four playoff teams.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Craig and the Eagles have played really good football, Houston's
- 9:56Speaker 3: got a fantastic record, Washington of course leading the NFC East,
- 9:59Speaker 3: and in the Fawkins. You know, these are all four
- 10:01Speaker 3: could playoff teams. And then you have the Giants who
- 10:04Speaker 3: are on Thanksgiving Thanksgiving, you know, remember Cowboys lost the
- 10:08Speaker 3: Raiders on Natesgiving a few years back.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Always a weird day.
- 10:10Speaker 3: And the Bengals, who are going to be desperate in
- 10:13Speaker 3: that game, Monday night game.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 3: The only one I see for sure in the remaining
- 10:17Speaker 3: schedule where I guarantee a win is at Carolina.
- 10:21Speaker 2: So you think they'll win that Carolina? I would hope.
- 10:23Speaker 3: So, I mean, I think there's a couple of college
- 10:26Speaker 3: teams that could beat Carolina right now. And I'm not
- 10:29Speaker 3: saying that facetiously. I really, I really.
- 10:31Speaker 1: That would never happen. You know, that would never happen.
- 10:35Speaker 1: You know, it would never happen. No college team is
- 10:38Speaker 1: going to beat an NFL team. No college team Oregon's
- 10:42Speaker 1: not going to beat an NFL team. George is not
- 10:44Speaker 1: going to beat an NFL team. Come on, it's not
- 10:47Speaker 1: gonna happens. Not gonna happen.
- 10:49Speaker 3: George would be in the backfield all day against Bryce
- 10:52Speaker 3: Shawn all day.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Correct, it's an NFL.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Offensive line, they would keep them out as bad as
- 10:57Speaker 1: they are against other NFL teams.
- 11:00Speaker 2: No, it would not happen.
- 11:03Speaker 1: All right, we're gonna hear more from logwarts head coach
- 11:05Speaker 1: Steve Sarkisian coming up on sports Radio AM thirteen Under
- 11:09Speaker 1: the Zone,
