- 1:04I got your back from All right, guys, what's going on?
- 1:08I've been doing a lot of videos recently on girls on the autism
- 1:11spectrum because I feel like girls with autism are always
- 1:14like, I like the secondary, you know, that I've always talked
- 1:18about boys with autism, may be able to talk about girls with
- 1:20autism and there are so many electrons.
- 1:22My friends are girls who are on the autism spectrum.
- 1:24I've done loads of videos with those, and if you'd like to
- 1:26learn more about it, I've put the playlist in a link Down
- 1:28Below in the description as video, but in terms of like
- 1:32girls and the autism spectrum and and you know, not getting
- 1:35diagnosed This are getting misdiagnose.
- 1:37I'm not even getting the appropriate help and attention
- 1:39that they need. Oh my goodness.
- 1:41It's like an epidemic that like girls are three times less
- 1:44likely to be diagnosed than males.
- 1:45Which has no relevance at all, only other than, like some
- 1:48shocking fact. But I want to put three reasons
- 1:51what girls are probably forgotten about on the autism
- 1:54spectrum, but then a video similar to this but I thought
- 1:56I'd missed out some kind of information and I wanted to do
- 1:59it so that I've got everything that I wanted to possibly talk
- 2:02to you about in this video because let's face it.
- 2:04At the end of the day, I want to give you You guys as much
- 2:06information as possible and you're awesome.
- 2:08And I love you. And I'm trying to make sure that
- 2:09you guys don't feel alone and you always have someone to turn
- 2:11to and I have as much information as possible.
- 2:13So, yeah, let's get into the video.
- 2:16Kick it. I don't know why I did that.
- 2:18I'm so sorry, everybody. Right.
- 2:21So, the first one here is old data.
- 2:23Now most, if not all of the data that was created on autism
- 2:27research, for autism was created for the diagnostic criteria, but
- 2:31based upon research that was done on males and what on the
- 2:34autism spectrum. So you gotta think about this,
- 2:36right? When they were setting up all
- 2:38the, the details for diagnosing people with Autism and what
- 2:41criteria could go into a diagnostic.
- 2:43They were looking at a model of a meals specific perspective and
- 2:47a male specific model of On the autism spectrum.
- 2:51So when you try and relate that information to a girl in your
- 2:54abs and Spectrum, it's not going to fit.
- 2:56Let's just be be perfectly honest.
- 2:58You know it's never going to fit because the brains are
- 3:00different. They're all different and
- 3:01everybody but they're all different between males and
- 3:03females. That's why we have males or
- 3:05females, you know that the different people.
- 3:06There's different things going on here.
- 3:07So you can't just take the agnostic that was made for males
- 3:10and then just smack into a female and all they didn't pass.
- 3:12So that means they have got all sorts of.
- 3:14No, it means that the test wasn't adequate for the person
- 3:18you're trying to test. I mean like yeah it's weird but
- 3:21you wouldn't test a giraffe and how well it can swim, right?
- 3:25I don't actually drops maybe I'll swim really well but you
- 3:27know I ain't compared to like a dolphin.
- 3:29It's not a fair test. You know, it's ridiculous.
- 3:30You tested often and half good. It could swim.
- 3:32It came up with 10/10 did with the draft will probably fail
- 3:35miserably, but that doesn't mean that the dolphin is better
- 3:40equipped than the okay. This this metaphor, getting
- 3:42rubbish. But, you know what I mean?
- 3:43It's like you have that a test that adequate for the person
- 3:46you're testing right. Otherwise it just doesn't work.
- 3:48So Old criteria, all data super, super annoying, but it part of
- 3:54the problem. My girls are really forgotten
- 3:56about having autism right now. It's really off it frustrates
- 3:58me. Okay.
- 3:59So number two, it's different diagnostic criteria, you know,
- 4:02when diagnosed and girls Watson, don't be a complete different
- 4:06criteria for Diagnostics. This is like different than
- 4:09males, obviously, because girls will have slightly different
- 4:13characteristics and traits of autism than males, right?
- 4:16Because girls have a more independent attitude, they will
- 4:19try And do things a little bit differently to males on the
- 4:22autism spectrum and it's a little bit more tricky to kind
- 4:24of sport of tourism in females because of this factor that the
- 4:28traitor bit different. And again it comes to factor all
- 4:30the data that everybody has been researching was all done on
- 4:33meals, but when you're looking forward to the future, when
- 4:35you're looking at females, you have to always remember.
- 4:37This is a completely clean slate, what these behavioral
- 4:40characteristics, tellers, and what's going on here because
- 4:43females will display different characteristics than males.
- 4:46It's just a fact of life in, that's what it is.
- 4:48Yes, they'll still be social. Traction issues.
- 4:50Yes, there will be sensory processing disorder issues but
- 4:52some of the big main Balkans will be different because there
- 4:55is different diagnostic criteria for males to females.
- 4:57Now, the national autistic Society are rolling out courses
- 5:00and training to help people really understand this must
- 5:03divide difference but so far, it's slow.
- 5:06But sure the end of the day but it really does make a difference
- 5:09when we can actually understand the difference between the males
- 5:12and the females with their diagnostic criteria.
- 5:14But this is definitely the reasons why the forgotten about
- 5:16this is this is a hundred percent reason why they've
- 5:18forgotten about, okay? So let me see Three is masking.
- 5:21No masking is wearing. Artistic woman will make make a
- 5:24mask for their issues and their difficulties to try and fit in
- 5:27in normal typical social daily life, right?
- 5:30Even though they'll have difficulties with it, they will
- 5:32force themselves into situations that they don't feel comfortable
- 5:35in because they want to appear just like everybody else.
- 5:38To kind of get through the day to survival technique that girls
- 5:41would use more so than boys and boys.
- 5:43On the autism spectrum will just kind of completely be a lot with
- 5:46certain situations, whereas girls on the autism spectrum
- 5:48will kind of It's a very clever way of kind of like societal
- 5:52survive situations where global mask their traits so they can
- 5:57fit into that situation so they can feel safer in that situation
- 6:02than being ousted or of being on the outside of the situation
- 6:05which is just completely Bonkers that we have to do this but
- 6:07social pressure, peer pressure, all these things kind of come in
- 6:10and they crash down, right? So because of this when you're
- 6:13trying to diagnose the girl on the autism spectrum, who may be
- 6:15displaying, you know, am asking kind of characteristic at that
- 6:18moment in time. I'm you're fighting a losing
- 6:20battle, and some of the on the doctors are fighting a losing
- 6:23battle because they don't know what they're looking at because
- 6:25they haven't really thought. Well, this girl could be masking
- 6:27get some, you know, they have to be clever about it and that
- 6:29diagnostic criteria for females has to be thought about
- 6:32cleverly. It has to be something new has
- 6:34to be something that we haven't really, you know, done before
- 6:37because you have to always change and evolve with the pros
- 6:40and the cons here. Now, this is shopping and it is
- 6:44probably one of the reasons main reasons why girls are often
- 6:46missed off diagnosis or forgotten about this being part.
- 6:49The autism spectrum but it doesn't take away from the fact
- 6:52that it happens. And girls are on the autism
- 6:55spectrum so we need to be looking at it differently.
- 6:56We need to be looking for resources, new to looking at new
- 6:59updated resources and things like the national autistic
- 7:01society and people like that, just actually trying their best
- 7:04to make sure that everybody is not forgotten about.
- 7:07And everyone's kind of, like, put into giving a fair
- 7:09opportunity in a fair chance of actually being diagnosed because
- 7:12there's so many females right now who are just struggling day
- 7:14to day with daily life and not getting the diagnosis because of
- 7:17these three factors and a bunch of others, Is that not their
- 7:20fault? It's not their fault.
- 7:22And I just wish that like, we could just change it instantly
- 7:24and own, and get every back together.
- 7:26But in terms of, yeah, in terms of that, you know, we're still
- 7:29fighting a fighting a battle here but doing stuff like this
- 7:32is super awesome. Not if you think that this video
- 7:34could change somebody's life and help them please.
