- 0:01When we are met with ideas or understanding propounded by
- 0:05others that we do not agree with, we tend to create a mental
- 0:08barrier as a defence and then develop our mental arguments to
- 0:13contradict or overturn the proposed ideas.
- 0:18There is very little, if any, true understanding that comes
- 0:21out of such interactions. People wind up talking past one
- 0:25another as if they are engaged in two separate and different
- 0:29conversations. There is also no basis for
- 0:33achieving a greater harmony from such interactions.
- 0:37When we do attempt to understand another individual, we generally
- 0:41try to create a mental space consisting of receptivity.
- 0:46We listen and try not to argue and try to work our way to the
- 0:50basis and core of what the other individual is trying to
- 0:54communicate from their viewpoint.
- 0:56Even then, our mental viewpoint will tend to detract from any
- 1:00complete understanding. If we look on this similarly to
- 1:05the complex game of chess, there are individuals who play one
- 1:09side and do not see what the other side is trying to
- 1:12accomplish from their side. Some individuals practice their
- 1:17ability to slip into the viewpoint by switching sides and
- 1:21playing the other side of the game, or in some instances they
- 1:26play both sides, switching and then concentrating on the
- 1:30position from whichever side they happen to be on.
- 1:35At a certain point, however, we begin to realize that we will
- 1:39not be able to understand fully another's viewpoint unless we
- 1:43can enter into the consciousness and experience the vibrational
- 1:47pattern that is moving their thought process.
- 1:51This involves an entirely different type of relation than
- 1:54that of the mental viewpoint trying to push its way into the
- 1:58mental framework of another individual.
- 2:02It involves a level of receptivity that appreciates the
- 2:06oneness of the individuals and is able to open up to the
- 2:10vibratory pattern, thereby gaining a full appreciation and
- 2:15thereby full understanding of the standpoint of the other
- 2:20individual. The mother describes the
- 2:24difference between a mental attempt and what we may call a
- 2:27spiritual action based in oneness.
- 2:30The process takes place in a place of mental silence without
- 2:35the normal marshalling of ideas, logic, debate points, etcetera
- 2:40that characterizes so much of our interactions in the world.
- 2:45The real determining factor is the practice needed to truly
- 2:49shift away from the mental framework to the spiritual, the
- 2:54Mother writes quote. It is the same for everything in
- 2:59all that you do together with others.
- 3:01If you do not agree, take it as a divine grace, a marvelous
- 3:06opportunity given you to make a progress.
- 3:09And it is simple. Instead of being on this side,
- 3:13you are on the other. Instead of looking at yourself,
- 3:17you enter the other person and look.
- 3:20You must have just a little bit of imagination, a little more
- 3:24control over your thoughts, over your movements.
- 3:28But that is not very difficult. When you have tried it out a
- 3:32little, after a while you find it very easy.
- 3:36You must not just look and then make a mental effort telling
- 3:40yourself why is it like this and like that.
- 3:43Why does he do that? Why does he say that You will
- 3:47never arrive at anything you won't understand.
- 3:52You will imagine all kinds of explanations which will be
- 3:55worthless and teach you nothing at all except to tell yourself
- 3:59that person is stupid or else wicked things that lead nowhere.
- 4:05On the other hand, if you only make that little movement and
- 4:09instead of looking at him as an object quite alien to you, you
- 4:13try to enter within. You enter within into that
- 4:17little head that's before you, and then suddenly you find
- 4:23yourself on the other side. You look at yourself and
- 4:26understand quite well what he is saying.
- 4:29Everything is clear, the why, the how, the reason, the feeling
- 4:35which is behind the whole thing. It is an experiment you have the
- 4:39opportunity of making 100 times a day.
- 4:44At first you won't succeed very well, but if you persist you
- 4:49will end up by succeeding admirably.
- 4:52This adds a lot of interest to life, and besides, it is a work
- 4:56which really makes you progress, for it makes you come out of
- 5:00that little armour of yours in which you are nicely shut up, in
- 5:04which you knock against everything.
- 5:07You have seen moths knocking against the light, haven't you?
- 5:11Everyone's consciousness is like that.
- 5:14It goes along, knocking here, knocking there, for these are
- 5:19things foreign to it. But instead of knocking about,
- 5:23one enters within. Then it begins to become a part
- 5:27of oneself. 1 widens oneself, breathes freely, has enough
- 5:33space to move in. One doesn't knock against
- 5:36anything. 1 enters, penetrates, understands and one lives in
- 5:43many places at the same time. It is very interesting one does
- 5:49it automatically. End Quote Reference Srioro Bindo
