- 0:11SPEAKER_00: What's up everyone?
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to Kids in the Calling Podcast, where none of us are kids, but we all have a calling.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: And that's the point for the detail.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Audrey Langel.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: With me is Epton Walton.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Hey guys.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: And Luke Gibson.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Seems like every week release with someone new.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: It's it's a pattern I guess.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: We'll never be a group again, guys.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: It's just gonna be three at a time.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: No disjointed family.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: It's very sad.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: Um so I did.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: So, opening question for you guys.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: What do you think is a trend that needs to disappear?
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Instagram notes.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: Dude, like, I don't care that someone stabbed you in the back and you just want to vague post about them on Instagram notes.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: And I'm speaking from experience, dude.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: Audrey was this Instagram notes interesting.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Y'all, I was crazy.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: It was made for me.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: The second it came out, I abused that thing like nobody's business.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: This was like two or three years ago now, but like, y'all.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: I was posting petty, stupid stuff, and I was like, what in the like now that I look back, I'm like, nobody should ever think that people care that much about every thought they have.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Like if that makes sense.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Like I may just be a hater, but I see no point to you making a note that it's like, just got canes.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Like literally.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: What are you gonna share?
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Like, you come in my.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: I didn't need to share that.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:44SPEAKER_03: That's funny.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: Alright, mine is uh QR codes instead of menus, bro.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Bro, you need to get with the times, bro.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: I mean, on one hand, I'm like, I agree because I don't want to look at my tiny phone screen to see your entire menu, but I do hate nothing more than touching dirty menus.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Look, yeah, I guess.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I understand that you can streamline this whole process.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Get the menu on your phone, screenshot every page, send it to Chat GPT or cloud and say, pick the best item on this page.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: What do I actually want today?
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: Based on what you know about me, what kind of food do I like?
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: We as humanities should just stop using our brains at all.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: How am I feeling today?
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Should I get the shake and bake?
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Saving my brain power for better things.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Why should I care about a menu?
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Um, maybe because you want to see what you personally want for lunch today.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: But not what Claude wants you to have.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: But my Jarvis knows what I want.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: I trained it.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Jarvis.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Jarvis, give me a boga.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Mine is um people saying like they get the ick from something or just red flags.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Like over anything though.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Like it used to be like main things.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't know, what's a good red flag or a good ick?
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: Something that's like you.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like okay, but that's not an ick.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Like something, I guess the ick in general.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: Uh he doesn't have good manners.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: Like that's a bit too harsh.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Maybe he like he burps too loud and he doesn't see that it's a bad thing.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like that's something valid.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Like he'll burp in public crazy.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: That's an ick.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: He thinks it's funny.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: And the red flags?
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: We need to change them out with checkered flags.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: Okay, dude.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: Stay in your lane, bro.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: Show.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: I'm telling you.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: All the cars references.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Or racing references, I guess.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: But what do you mean checkered flags?
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: Like the finished finality, yeah, yeah.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: You just wanted a different color.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: It's the checkered flag.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: It was like the last stroll.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: We're done.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Um, so Luke, didn't you just give like a sneak peek of the sermon?
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: What did you say?
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: I mean, I guess.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: I said shake and bake.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Well, if you weren't here on Sunday, people listening, we had Pastor Rick Hardwick and he preached a message called Shake and Break, which is close enough to shake and bake.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Um, but somebody tell me how you thought about it.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Podcast over.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Shake and break.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Every week.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: That's every week.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Um, really good faith-building message um for me.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: I I really like the overall theme that it's something that we we've talked about before a lot of the things that he talked about in this message, and like he stated up there, he's in the vein of what Pastor Jared's been preaching about.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: That you know, God has given us freedom.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: That's kind of like the the core theme of the message that I got from it.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: That God has given us the freedom, and we have to see that and accept that.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I really want to talk about it more, but that's like the the general theme.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: Like that's true.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: That's that's the powerful point to me that that God has given us freedom, and whether we recognize it or not, that freedom's there, and we have to act on it.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: We can't just sit there and throw a pity party or still live like we're bound when Jesus has given us freedom.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: So yeah, definitely.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: That's just a 10,000-foot view, but that was like my initial thoughts.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: No, yeah, I agree.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: I liked how he used that story.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Um, he kind of like started the story and then did the whole sermon and then ended the story, but yeah, kind of in a in a nutshell.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like he told the story of a woman who was diagnosed with cancer, and in the end he explained that he could hear God telling him, you know, blue notebook.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: He was saying to him, blue notebook, blue notebook, over and over again.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: So finally he had asked the woman, Do you know anything about a blue notebook?
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: And he was explaining how that's the that him hearing blue notebook is it's called the gift of the word of knowledge, which is one of the nine gifts of the spirit that we can receive.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: And it's basically a manifestation where God reveals specific information or like facts to a person that they could not have known, you know, beforehand.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: They couldn't have known on their own.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: And it turned out to be that like the notebook that she had, or she knew what the notebook, or her husband, I think it was.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: He got he was like, Oh, baby, it's this notebook, and he pulled it out, and it was a notebook that she had gotten from I think a cancer treatment vicinity.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, something like that.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: And it was something that she had been holding on to for a while.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: And he used that illustration to show us how sometimes we can be holding on to things like our own blue notebook that keeps us bound to a prison that God's already saved us from.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: And that ties in perfectly exactly what you were just saying.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: How you know God's already set us free, God's already done the miracle.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: It's just up to us to walk out of the bondage that we're putting ourselves in.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, because it's not all up to God.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Um, I mean, look at the Israelites, He set them free from Egypt, and very quickly afterwards, while they're out in the desert, they're thinking about how good they had it in Egypt.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: They're like, bruh, they fed us over there in Egypt.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, sure, we're free, but I liked it better over there.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: Over there was was more comfortable.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: We've been doing that for longer.
- 6:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: And we can hate on them all we want, but I think a lot of times we're just like the Israelites.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: That happens to us a lot.
- 6:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: God will set us free from something, and it's just human nature that you're gonna want to stick to what you know.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: And so God sets you free.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: He opens up the if you want to imagine you you're you've been sitting in a cell and God's opened up the cell, the jail cell.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he set you free, but you may still be holding on to the bars of that cell.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: You may still be, or maybe you leave, but you take pieces of the cell with you to really be set free.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: That's where you gotta shake it and bake it, like Luke said.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: You you gotta shake it off.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: You can't be holding on to bits of the past that God has set you free from.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: And I really like that example, both examples that he used, the one you brought up about the uh Israelites being freed, that they were the idea that they were holding on to the past.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: It's like, and then the same thing with the with the lady, she was holding on to the notebook.
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: That's kind of what she was looking to, what her mind was on, and how she would like, you know, redirect, you know, to those things.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: So it was almost like, well, we need to, as Christians, be holding on to faith.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: That way we can mix that faith and look toward these the spiritual freedom that God has granted us.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: You know, we can't be holding on to maybe a struggle or even a mindset.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: You know, it can be any extreme of actually what you're facing or what you're just thinking, what's in your mind.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: But if you do let let go of those things in your life and hold on to faith and what God has for us, it's completely different and it's life-changing.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that can deal with so many different things.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: Like you were saying, that can be shame, it can be a sin that you used to be caught up in that God sets you free, but somewhere inside you still feel like you're still that sinner.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: Even though God sets you free, even though you've repented, yeah, even though He's filled you with a spirit, you you somewhere inside you may still be holding on to that.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Holding on to it.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: It's like you condemn yourself.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: Like like you feel like I'll never be better than just that.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: That's what I am, that's what I've always been.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: And that can go for so many different things.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: Like I was just saying, that God sets you free, but you h you struggle to move on from what you know, from what you feel like you are, and what you feel like you have been.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: And it doesn't have to be that way because when God sets you free when you're a child of God, that's that's what you are.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: God, God, He wipes away that past.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: So it to me it's really just a struggle of identity.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: You have to really read the word, see what God says about you, see what Jesus says about you, see what his word says about you, and and see how he sees you, how once you're set free, he doesn't care about all that stuff that happened in the past.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: And you don't have to either.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: You don't have to tie yourself down by the things you've done or the things you've been through or the time you've wasted.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: You don't have to hold yourself down for that.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: Like God set you free.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: It's up to you.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: That's very true.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like that.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: Um, and then the first thing you talked about with the message, because it's titled Shake and Break.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Was there something underneath something in like fine print?
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: It was Shake and Break Shaking Through, I don't know.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: It was something like that.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: I don't remember Shaking Breakthrough?
- 10:10unknown: Is that it?
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: Oh, from producer Brian.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: PB call out, bro.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Yes, sir.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: It was like shake through to break through.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Anyway, um, but the first part of it was the shake, and he had kind of gone into the nature of shaking, and he emphasized that shaking is often seen um in the Bible before um a breakthrough.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: And he draws from the book of Acts, and he notes that when God moves, foundations are often shaken.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: And he talked about how shaking is a sign that it's time to break through, and when you feel a shift, that's that's your time to run and receive your breakthrough.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I love that because it's like I love how he said it's a sign.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: Like he explained that when you see or feel that shaking happening, that's your sign that it's time to change, it's time to run, make a run for it.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: And your breakthrough is coming.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I also like that because faith typically requires a response.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Like if God using the jail cell symbolism again, if you're sitting in the cell and you've been praying for God to open the door and he does, it still takes the faith to leave the cell.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: It still takes the faith to shake off the chains that have been holding you.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: He can undo the latches that have been keeping them connected to your skin.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: But if you don't shake those things off of you, you can leave that jail cell and walk out, but still have those chains attached to you.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: When they're not uh like tied to you, you can just shake them off anytime, shrug them off.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: But you still keep them on because you don't have the faith to leave something you know.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: Or like you said earlier with identity, like it's something that you know, but it's something that you feel has become a part of you, and like you can't detach from it, even though you know the key may be on them and unlocked, you know.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: That's why it's it's so important to really delve into the word of God and know where your identity comes from.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: That can't just be something that you have in your mind, it has to be something that you actively identify with and that you believe in every morning, because I'm not just a sinner that happens to believe in God, or I'm not just a sinner that became a child of God, I'm a child of God.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: None of that stuff before matters, none of that other stuff matters.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: And with how much of a topic identity is in our culture, especially in America, um you you have to know where your identity is because if you don't know where your identity lies and where it's tied to and who you are in this kingdom and with your Heavenly Father, then you're gonna struggle.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: I mean, you you have to know where you come from, you have to know the base of your identity.
- 12:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: And if you don't, that's when you're gonna start struggling, and you you're gonna start applying parts of yourself to the things that you've gone through because that's just human nature.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: You're gonna apply yourself to the things you've done in the past when you all you gotta do is apply yourself to the kingdom.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: That's where your identity is tied to.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: And I like what what he said about that in his sermon, because he like for me at first when I was listening to it, I was like, man, why is he bringing up being in awe of God and being and you know having the fear of the Lord, you know, in your life?
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: But then it's it's right what you're talking about, Hudson, with identity.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: You know, that's how we that's how we find our identity.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: It's rooted in Christ and it's and rooted in fearing him, not just in actual fear of what he could do to us and how he could, you know, not be merciful, but he is.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: But in just like, wow, he is so awesome, he is so great.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: You know, he kind of explained it as in there is true all.
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: Like he he said the word awesome and he broke it down.
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: Like that.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: You had mentioned earlier, I think it was you, Luke, um, the Exodus, like, you're not talking about the Israelites and stuff.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Israelites, right?
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Y'all mentioned it.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: We both did, yeah.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: But I liked how y'all were talking about that because it's it's the perfect example for this because it's like they were freed from Pharaoh, from the hand of Pharaoh by God.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: God protected them and they waited for their time and they they escaped.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: And of course, at first it was all like sunshine and rainbows.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: It was like they were so happy, but then times got tough and they they started wanting to go back to captivity.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: And it's like we can do that a lot of times because of the comfort of it, because of the comfort of what we used to live in of or what we know.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: And it's not that we think it's better, it's just that's what we're used to.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: And it's definitely hard to, you know, move forward.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Like, not with with if without faith, it's definitely impossible to move forward.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: But like, it's why we have to have the faith, honestly, the faith that they were sometimes lacking to move forward and trust that no matter what, God took me out of the situation, He's gonna provide for me, even when it gets harder.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: Because it's scary to take that next step, um, especially if what you're leaving behind is something that you that's been that you've been closely tied to for a long time.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's it's very difficult to imagine yourself not being identified with that if you've identified with that for a while, whether that be a sin, whether that be shame, whether it just be a situation in your life, or I mean it could be anything, it could be a career that you've done your whole life that God's calling you out of to another place, and you you just don't know what you are without that career.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: It it can be anything, and yeah, it's it's scary to move on.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Um you just have to put your faith in Christ.
- 15:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: I like that you're bringing up the example again because whenever I thought about it this way, it kind of gave me a different perspective about what we're talking about here.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: God can detach us from our past, like whenever He let He made Pharaoh, you know, let his hand off of the people.
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: So God can detach us from our past, but we have to also let go of it.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: So there's like there's like a two-way, it's two-way street.
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: You know, God can free you from something, but and you could still not be free because you're holding on to it.
- 16:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:19SPEAKER_02: So I think that's also a big part is that we kind of pray for freedom sometimes and not feel like we have to do anything to to get that freedom or gain that freedom, also.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Kind of goes along with like helping yourself as well.
- 16:31SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Like you can't just expect him to do all the work but not change or not like not be willing to let go.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Like he's offering you this amazing life or this amazing situation or this amazing escape out of a situation that you're in.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we're just silly enough to hold on to it.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Like, no, I think I'm I think I'm gonna hold on to just this piece, just because it's comfortable.
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: Another thing that I liked that he um was talking about was the royal pardon sheet that he had.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was so shabby.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: It was it was cool.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: I want it on my wall.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: It was so he explained how actually, what was the base?
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Like just that you can get a pardon.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was just he just wanted to show a physical representation of like the freedom that we get that we're getting a pardon from Jesus.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so he he like started it off talking about a part, like an actual pardon for like, I don't know, like a prisoner or something like that.
- 17:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: And then he related it to children of God, like when we are set free from like when we are delivered from our I don't know, our sin, our sickness, our diseases, our past, anything like that.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: It's a complete pardon.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: It's a like that's why it's called the royal pardon.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: It was cute.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Um, and he just, you know, argued that hell wants believers to accept that it's just partial or conditional freedom.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: But God offers us complete deliverance from our sin and our sickness and diseases.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: And he just kind of like, I guess, printed out or whatever, and made that illustration to show how God does not just forgive a few of our sins, it's complete forgiveness for all of it.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: And we are delivered from the hand of the enemy, he's done that for us, and it's up to us to you know accept that and take it.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and that's uh that's terrifying for the enemy.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: That's why he he really harps on identity and getting you to identify with that stuff, because if you really get it in your system that Jesus has given you complete authority over that situation and completely set you free from that, if you get that in you, like you're not going back.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: But if the enemy can kind of get you to identify that situation and think, yeah, God's forgiven me, but I I can't let go of that.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: I'm never gonna be more than that.
- 18:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: If if if he gets you in that mindset, then you're you're fighting yourself at that point, you're fighting the freedom God's trying to bring you to.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: God didn't just set you free from that one specific scenario of you doing that thing or committing that sin or whatever.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: God, like he, like Audrey was saying, completely pardon you from it.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: And if you can identify with that and realize the power in that, there's no stopping you.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: That that devil is gonna be shaken and bacon, but not in the good way.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Not in the He won't be breaking, I'll just be shaking again.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: Oh man.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: Are you gonna say something that spaghetti?
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: Spaghetti indeed.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: Sorry, guys, inside joke.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: You guys can't know.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yellow on the outside.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: I love when people say that.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: Fun fact about me, that's my favorite thing.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: If you ever are around me, make sure to say it's an inside joke if you're on the outside.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: Objection relevancy.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: I don't want to use that.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, if I had to say anything that I'd uh I'd take from this is that you have to claim your pardon.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: Like, Pastor Rick was holding this physical pardon, and sure, Jesus can give you this pardon, but if you yourself don't take that and claim that, then that pardon's kind of useless.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: The the same analogy of sitting in the cell.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: If if you get a pardon that says you can leave the cell, but you don't get up and leave it, then that pardon's worthless.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: So I just gotta say that when Jesus sets you free, know what's happening and identifying that.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you gotta claim it.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: Claim that freedom.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: Pick up your bed and walk.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: And it's just yeah, do that's what it's giving me.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: But yeah, do do it daily.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: Um wake up every morning and look in the mirror and be like, God has set me free.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: I am a child of God.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: God has set me free from everything.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:41SPEAKER_01: And it's the it's the age old saying.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: If you say that to yourself like every morning, you'll start believing it.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: What else can you say to yourself in the morning?
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: I'm beautiful.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: I'll never believe that.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: I will.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: That's why I say it.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: Y'all, today's a goofy day.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: Um, so tying that into James by just doing it.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: I like that powerful strategy.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: I feel the anointment.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: The anointment on you.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: Contaminating.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: The anointment?
- 21:18unknown: Yeah.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: Anointment.
- 21:20SPEAKER_02: Ointment.
- 21:20SPEAKER_02: You're thinking about ointment.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: I've heard anointing.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: I've never heard anointment.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: Because I'm thinking ointment.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Isn't anointment just past tense?
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: It's something like anointed.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: Anointment.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: We're gonna look it up.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: Anointment.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: We got the grammar police over here, bruh.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: It just was like ointment.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Okay, bruh.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Anointment.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Anointment.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: Sorry guys, we were doing a grammar check.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: Maybe a noun form of anoint.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: I said it right.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: I feel the anointing.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: Anointment.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I said right.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: Why did it sound so strange in that because you don't like me.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, it's that.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: Hudson hater.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Um, so anyway.
- 22:05SPEAKER_02: Well, we got 13 days morning today.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Yes, today we're doing James 5, 13 through 20.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: It's a sad day for us.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: It's the last chapter of James.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: But it's not gonna be the last time we're talking about it.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: So you guys still have like a few more weeks.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: We're never mentioning James again.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: So let's get right into it.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Um, y'all want to start or y'all want me to do it?
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Okay, fine, I'll do it.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: So um, I love this part because I just like saying the title.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: And the title of this one was The Power of Prayer.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: And it's sectioned off once again for us.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: Um, James loves us and it likes to section off the verses for us.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: He's so clutch for that.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: He knows us.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: So the first one was 13 through 15, and it says, Are any of you suffering hardships, you should pray.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: Are any of you happy?
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: You should sing praises.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: Are any of you sick?
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: So I think it's crazy that this goes perfectly with the message, especially the last part.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: If you've committed any sins, you will be forgiven.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: Because it then, even crazier, we missed a week on accident, and so we skipped it.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: It still fell in line.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: And it still somehow fell in line.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: Oh my goodness.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: I'm just like, what?
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: Isn't it crazy?
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: It's crazy how it works.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: But I just like how it it says in our hurting and our happiness.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: Like it gave both like complete opposite side to the spectrum.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: It was like, are you suffering?
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Pray.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: Are you happy?
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Praise, sing.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, pray all the time, bro.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, worship no matter what.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Because we got something to worship about, don't we?
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: I know y'all like that.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's like, even if you're sick, guess what?
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: Tell the elders of the church to pray.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Dude, that was pray.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Pray pray.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: Everything equals pray.
- 23:59unknown: Yeah.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: I like that part.
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: If it could be shortened down to one word, if you were lazy and didn't want to read 13 through 15 and you want it one word, it'd be pray.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: I would like to agree.
- 24:10SPEAKER_02: And it's like make every every sit like physical situation that's bad, make it spiritual.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: Like make your make your response spiritual is kind of what I got from it, too.
- 24:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:22SPEAKER_02: Is that your hardships should produce prayer and joy should prompt us to praise.
- 24:27SPEAKER_02: You know, like the good things and the bad things in the physical can all be mended, fixed, talked about, you know, restored in the spiritual through spiritual things.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I like that.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: And also, I feel like James is going along with the verse of the Bible that says pray without ceasing.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: I don't think he's specifically saying when you have good times, pray, and when you have bad times, pray.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: You read it, and you kind of look at what he's saying, and he's basically telling you to pray all the time.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: Um you stub your toe, pray about it.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: You wake up in the morning, nothing good or bad's happened yet, pray.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: Good morning.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: Good morning, Lord.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: You pray.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: You pray no matter what's going on, no matter if it's good, no matter if it's bad, or no matter it's nothing.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: You're just having a normal day.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: I think that your relationship with God can really grow whenever you pray and you seek Him in the mundane moments.
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: In the moments when it's not, you know, life or death.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: It's just, it's just, you know, I'm sitting here drinking my coffee for the day.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, if you can make the shift um where I'm not coming to God to pray once when something is going well or when something's going bad, and I'm not putting him in a little box where I pray at the end of the day, and I've realized that it can be a constant conversation.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: Um, it doesn't have to be me speaking 24-7, right?
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: But it can be something that doesn't have to end.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's not.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: Like imagine you're talking like to like your best friend on the phone, and you guys talk for like 10 minutes, then you know, you may keep her on the line or keep him on the line, but you may not say anything for like 20 minutes.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: Maybe you both just get busy, but then you you pick up talking again like uh like 20 minutes later, and you guys just pick up talking.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: Like nothing happened.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Um just silent on the phone call on mute or did you hang up?
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: No, I'm saying you don't have to hang up.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a good point.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: Like that.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: Just don't hang up the phone.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: Uh sure, you guys may not be talking the whole time.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: But the connection's still there.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's still there, and it's always a conversation you can pick up.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: I was gonna relate it to a book, but I I mean I think they both are like the same thing.
- 26:36SPEAKER_00: Like think of like a book.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: Like you pick up your book if you've ever like five minutes.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: You don't need three hours specifically to to read your book.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: Like you could just read a few pages in five minutes.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: Like you could talk to him when there's free time.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: Well, not in a way that's like he's only your free time, if that makes sense.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: But you know what I mean.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: Um, another part of back to the actual this part of James.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: Which which verse was it talking about?
- 27:00SPEAKER_02: 15.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: Calling for the elders.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: No, 14, actually.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: So um I like how it said, you know, when you're sick, call for the elders of your church.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: And I like that because we often talk about how important it is to seek wise counsel.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: And I think this kind of ties into that because we're supposed to look up to and take advice from our elders, and like they have their walk with God, they have gone through and sacrificed so much more than we could probably honestly imagine right now.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: But like the anointing that's on their lives can help you tremendously in times of need.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: And not just that, if you look up to them and if you like seek wise counsel and you seek advice from them and their prayers, then that's who you can become to the next generation.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: Because we're not gonna be 20 forever, we're gonna be 80 one day, we're gonna be the elders of the church that people seek to pray for them.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: So it's important that to get to that point to be what you need right now, like what we read need right now, the next generation's gonna need too, and we're gonna have to be that for them.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: So don't forget that.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: Man, I guess I just I saw these verses like a little bit differently.
- 28:04SPEAKER_02: But whenever I was reading through those ones with the with the elders and everything, I was thinking of it as like wow, something that usually can bring like if somebody dies of sickness, that's a serious thing in a family, you know?
- 28:16SPEAKER_02: Like that's a really big deal, and it can it can cause a lot of like struggle, you know, and and you know, that loss.
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: But here it's showing that sickness doesn't have to be that, that it can bring unity, like bringing together the people in the church and coming to pray for you.
- 28:32SPEAKER_02: And then what's crazy is it says you'll be forgiving of your sins in 15, right?
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: So they get physical renewal and spiritual renewal.
- 28:41SPEAKER_02: So how many seasons do we like need a full reset where where we not only need the physical restoration, but we also need the the spiritual restoration, or and you know, vice versa, you know?
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like that.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: I feel like it's way different than what y'all are putting out though.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: That's what kind of like that's what I like.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: It's different.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: I know I like when we all have different things.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: Do that more, Luke.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, be different.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: I liked what y'all pulled out too, though.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: I mean, about praying continually and making sure that it's it's an always conversation, you know?
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: It's always there, present.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we all brought something different, I just realized that.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: For like different verses, too.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: Like, usually we all have like a certain point for a certain verse, but like I strive to be different.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: Accomplished.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: I'm not like other podcasters.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: Go for that little section.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: 17.
- 29:31SPEAKER_00: Um, wait, we didn't do 16.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, don't skip sixteen.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: Okay, go to sixteen.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: Sixteen through eighteen was the next cluster.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Um it says, sorry, it says, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: Elijah was was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: Then when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: I was just reading it, so y'all could actually like go into depth.
- 30:07SPEAKER_04: It's good stuff.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: I really like um immediately when I read, I'll use your word cluster.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, what sticks out to me is verse 17.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: Sometimes we can idolize saints, not just in the Bible, but in our lives, and we can kind of put them on a pedestal.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: Yes, they absolutely deserve respect.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: Like if this is your pastor or mentor in your life and elder in your church, yes, they deserve respect, but there's nothing that they can do through faith that you can't.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: I feel like sometimes we can kind of put them on a level above us subconsciously that we can't get to or something.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: Like we we can start subconsciously believing that they can pray for the sick and they'll be healed, but that's not something I can do.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: I'm not a pastor.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: And James is like, dude, Elijah was just a normal guy.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was just a normal guy that had faith.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: And that's really the the core that I'm getting from this.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: The message that James is telling you to that we're all human.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that no human has greater capacity for faith or works of God than another human work.
- 31:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: We're all human.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: No one's more special than someone else.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: Elijah was just a was just a dude that had faith.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: And we respect him incredibly, and he's in the Bible for a reason, but at the end of the day, he was just human.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: Abraham was just a human.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: All the figures in the Bible were just human, other than Jesus, of course.
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: But that's right, you know, all all the the paragons of faith that we see in the Bible and in our life, they're just people, and you know, I'm just a person too, so I can be like them.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's what it's getting to.
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: And that was another thing that I kind of thought of when with what you're saying, is his focus was on point.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: You know, he was close enough with God to to know what to pray for.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: Like I think it was in first Kings, yeah, first Kings 18.
- 31:57SPEAKER_02: It it was talking about the same story, but it talked about how God told him, you know, pray for this, you know, this is my will.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: So you gotta be paying attention to what God's will is in life, so you can be praying for that.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: So you can be like, Yeah, let your kingdom come.
- 32:14SPEAKER_02: You know, let this happen the way you want it to.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: And that's exactly what Elijah did.
- 32:19SPEAKER_02: So, you know, if it was God's will and he just prayed for it more and more, I mean, there you go.
- 32:24SPEAKER_02: But he was in the right place listening to the right information.
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: You know, he had to make sure that he was in tune with God.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: And again, it doesn't make him any better than any of us because at the end of the day, it's all God.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: So if we're just walking along with God, we're having faith, we can see the same type of outcomes as Elijah did.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 32:43SPEAKER_01: Very true.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: And I really like the um at verse 16, it may not seem as impactful as talking about how we can pray the same prayers as Elijah and see the same results through faith, but confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
- 33:01SPEAKER_01: Um, we've talked about this concept a lot, especially through Proverbs and in James, of course, now that we're at the end, that we need accountability in our lives.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: Um That's why it's so important to be connected to the body of God and to and to have mentors in your life, because it really helps with accountability.
- 33:20SPEAKER_01: It's it's a lot harder, it's a lot more of a struggle if you just try to keep everything that you do to yourself and try to fight that alone.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: If you go out and you talk to your youth pastor, your your parents, I know kids aren't gonna want to do that.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: Um but your youth pastor, another mentor in your life, your your pastor, um are just you know like-minded, spirit-filled friends.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that will help you tremendously.
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: We need that accountability.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: Um, Christianity is not a I sport, it's a team thing.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: We're we're literally the body.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: We're not we're all parts of a body.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: We're supposed to help each other, so that accountability can genuinely help you on your journey.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: And another thing with the same verse, I didn't even think about it, so you just said that.
- 34:09SPEAKER_00: Um, obviously, I do think yes, this verse is talking about, you know, the accountability.
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: But I think another way that we could kind of take another thing we could take from it is confessing your sins as in telling what you've done, what you've come from to other people.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: Like tell your story, like Pastor Jared was saying last week, or was it two weeks ago?
- 34:28SPEAKER_00: Whatever it was.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: Like the tell your story.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: It's it's important that we tell our story and we tell our testimony because that can be what somebody else needs as a reminder to have faith, even though you're going through something so so tough or such a habit that's hard to break.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: Like anything, because you never know what somebody really needs to hear.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, some somebody out there has the same problem that you had.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: Somebody out there needs to hear your story so that you can help them through it.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: So that's right.
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: And what if you never knew that?
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: But just sharing it made them open up and say, hey, that's crazy.
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: I've been dealing with the same thing, or I've been free from the same thing.
- 35:01SPEAKER_02: That's crazy.
- 35:01SPEAKER_02: And that could be a bond of strengthening more unity in that group just because you shared, or just because you know your experience.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: That's a good point.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: The next one is this is my favorite part of Jay.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: Well, I don't know about of Jay's.
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: But it's my favorite part for today is um, I think the title actually said Restore Wondering Believers.
- 35:35SPEAKER_00: It's 19 through 20.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: It says, My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings a sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: Like it says, don't give up on the wanderers.
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: I love that because it's it's something that obviously it seems like almost common sense or it seems like something that we should know, but it does tend to get lost sometimes easily because just because somebody walks away from the truth does not mean that we shouldn't chase them down.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: That doesn't mean that we see somebody that we know and we love and who's known the truth for however long walks away.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: We shouldn't look at them and immediately judge them and scold them and completely cut off all ties with that person.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: We should chase them down like their life depends on it because it does.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: Because we are supposed to love them.
- 36:25SPEAKER_00: If we aren't the ones trying to save them and trying to bring them back, then who's gonna do it?
- 36:29SPEAKER_00: Because they're obviously not gonna do it for themselves right now.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: They need somebody to pull them back in.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: That's for that's for exactly what I got.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: Love.
- 36:37SPEAKER_02: Love, love, love.
- 36:38SPEAKER_02: It has to be who we are, you know, and not conditional to those that we're satisfied with their behavior, you know.
- 36:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:45SPEAKER_02: I love you because you know you're doing the right thing, you're doing what I think is good and what I've learned is right, you know.
- 36:51SPEAKER_02: No, it it it says just in the Bible, you know, love your neighbor as yourself.
- 36:55SPEAKER_02: It's very important to just have that as a general rule in life.
- 36:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and stand by it.
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: I do think the line can get tricky because some people don't want to hear what you have to say anymore.
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: Like there are definitely people that if you try to chase them down, or if you try to chase them down for too long, they're definitely gonna go off on you and they don't want to hear what you have to say.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: But you planted the seed.
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: There's a difference between chasing down and like attacking, you know what I mean?
- 37:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:16SPEAKER_00: When I say chase you chase them down, I mean, you know, reach for them, reach out, let them know that you're there, invite them to church or like reach out, but you don't have to obviously attack them.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: Please don't attack them.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: That might not work.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: It may not win them over unless they're like a UFC fighter and you gotta prove that you could beat them in combat before they come, but that's like not gonna happen, so don't attack them.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: And that's the thing.
- 37:41SPEAKER_02: I think that love is like even just showing love to that person could be all you need, you know, and they need in that instance sometimes.
- 37:50SPEAKER_02: Even if you're not like they're not really open to listening to what you have to say, yeah, or or whatever, but just the fact that you still are loving and kind to them the same as you were before.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that's also very impactful.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: Because I mean, what would it look like if they they wandered off and nobody cared?
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, nobody reached out, nobody asked a question.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: Or even worse, they they turned like they they looked down or looked bad at them.
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: Like that that could just make them start putting like Instagram notes about them and stuff.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: Just make it worse.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: In that circumstance, I'll let it slide.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: That that note deserves to be up there.
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: If someone started walking away from the church or the faith, and then that's fine.
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: The people around them were like judging them, then yeah, coming in.
- 38:35SPEAKER_00: Another thing I um got from it was you know, helping someone return can s can and will save their life, which is something that the verse said.
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: Wandering does not automatically mean that that's the end of someone's spiritual life or their walk with God.
- 38:47SPEAKER_00: We all lose our weight.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: We have all done and still sometimes do lose our way.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: We go in the wrong path or we make the wrong step.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: And that's okay, but what would we do if nobody like that's part of accountability?
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: That's part of having an accountability partner.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm looking out for you, you look out for me.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: If I make a bad decision, it's your like I hope that somebody would tell me, hey Audrey, I don't think that's a very wise decision.
- 39:11SPEAKER_00: Maybe rethink that.
- 39:13SPEAKER_00: Like, that's what we're here for.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: That's why we're brothers and sisters in Christ, not just to say it for fun, like it's it's because we're supposed to be looking out for each other and caring and loving for each other, and that's part of it.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I like it because again, it's it's bringing up up the point that we were just talking about earlier that Christianity is not all about me.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: That like he's showing you that other people around you that that's part of the thing.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: We're all part of the body, and so if a part of that body starts slipping away, if someone starts leaving the flock, it it's not just about you, like it's serious, like this is a team sport, like you were just saying, we're brothers and sisters in Christ, and you should care about the people around you enough to see when they may be slipping and to get them the help that they need.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: It it's important.
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: We're not all supposed to reach a quota or always be perfect Christians on our own, like we're a team, and that's right.
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, when if someone starts slipping away, you better help them get back because it's again, it's not just about you.
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: God, He didn't just save me so that I can go to heaven alone.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: He saved me so that I can reach out to others and pour into others.
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, pour into the lost and pour into my brothers and sisters in Christ.
- 40:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: Love everyone, pour into them.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: And then also I really like because it was something I wanted to talk about, what you guys were just talking about with the you touched on a bit where sometimes someone can start, you know, falling away or falling out or wandering away.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: And sometimes the immediate reaction from the people around them from the church can be to judge them, and that's never what it should be.
- 40:56SPEAKER_02: And I I agree.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: I really like how he puts it.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: He he he literally says that you are saving them from death, and I feel like he uses that very intentionally to show you how serious that is.
- 41:12SPEAKER_01: Because if someone's walking away from their relationship with God and your first instinct is to feel vindicated because you know, maybe deep down you you're like, I knew it, I knew they were gonna walk away.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: Or you just you feel good because you feel vindicated because you're right about something.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: Um, your mind, your your head space is in the completely wrong space because this is life or death.
- 41:38SPEAKER_01: This is eternity for that person, and you don't have time to judge them for walking away.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: You don't first of all, you're not God, so you can't really judge them for that.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: And second of all, we don't have the time for that.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: We don't have the time to mess around and judge someone for walking away or feeling vindicated because we were right about them backsliding, like that's not what it's about at all.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: This is life or death, and this person may be walking away from an eternity in heaven or an eternity with Jesus.
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that this may be the turning point, and it's you gotta help them.
- 42:12SPEAKER_01: Um, and like Audrey was saying, you don't go and like force feed it to them, like you have to, you have to come back or I'm gonna beat you.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, no, you love them, you you do it with love.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna beat you.
- 42:28SPEAKER_02: That's another thing, is like I I wonder if people think, oh, I left.
- 42:31SPEAKER_02: Uh you know, my calling's not there anymore.
- 42:34SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't have a calling anymore.
- 42:35SPEAKER_02: Like, I wonder if that's a thought that they have that oh I lost my calling, I can't go back.
- 42:39SPEAKER_02: I won't have a purpose in the kingdom anymore.
- 42:41SPEAKER_02: Like And you gotta remind them that you do, man.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: You're loved.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: You're you're meant to be here.
- 42:46SPEAKER_02: We need we need you.
- 42:47SPEAKER_02: You're the big toe.
- 42:48SPEAKER_02: We need you here.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, yes.
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: You know, every part of the body has win me back.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: You're the big toe, Hudson.
- 42:54SPEAKER_02: You're the big toe of the body, okay?
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: You know, we need you for stable walking and for travel.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:01SPEAKER_00: We need you for travel.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: I just think it's a a pretty good nugget to keep in mind that if you're ever more interested in pointing out someone's faults than you know, helping them find their way back, then you have to pray to do, brother or sister in Christ.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: Because that's that's not where your headspace should be.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: Because it's that serious, it's not just something to gossip about or talk about or laugh about with your friends, your your saved friends.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: It's this is life or death.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: And that person may be going down a path that leads to eternal death, and that's not something to sit there and laugh about and you know, point at and be like, I knew they were gonna do that.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, all that throwing out the window.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: You gotta help them.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: Like, congrats, you knew.
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: Like, what did that do for anybody?
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: And like, what what do you you want a participation?
- 43:57SPEAKER_00: But then it's funny because that's actually something people.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: Would say oh absolutely like it's not even like a joke, like it's a genuine thing people would think about.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: But yeah.
- 44:10SPEAKER_01: But yeah, guys, again, um, I was happy to be back.
- 44:12SPEAKER_01: Missed you guys so much last week.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: I was so sad I cried the night.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: It was two weeks.
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, wait, never mind.
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: Well, one week y'all didn't have it.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: Y'all LARPed.
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: Uh LARP.
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I was sad to miss.
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: But I'm happy to be back.
- 44:24SPEAKER_01: And again, it was a really good message from Brother Harwick.
- 44:28SPEAKER_01: I feel like we needed it.
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: Good faith-building message.
- 44:31SPEAKER_01: Um just accept that pardon.
- 44:34SPEAKER_01: That's what I'll say.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: So that when God has freed you, you're free.
- 44:37SPEAKER_01: You don't have to identify with anything that's happened in the past.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: You don't have to sit in that jail cell.
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: You don't have to hold on to those chains.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: Just shake them off.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: Like Brother Harwick says.
- 44:47SPEAKER_01: Shake it until you make your break.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: Because that's right.
- 44:51SPEAKER_01: I think that's what he said exactly.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Shake it until you make that break.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: I like it.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: Because God sets you free.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: You just gotta shake it until you know you're free.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: So shake off those chains.
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: Get out of that jail cell.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: Leave Egypt.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: Whatever you gotta do, bruh.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: Start baking.
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: But yeah, no, just accept that pardon.
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: I like the way Brother Harwick said it.
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: Just accept that pardon.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Know that when God has set you free, you're free.
- 45:13SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: And then for James, pray.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: Just pray.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: Pray.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: Just kidding.
- 45:18SPEAKER_01: We've talked about more than that.
- 45:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: Just pray without ceasing.
- 45:20SPEAKER_01: Know that you you're not only supposed to pray when things are going exceptionally good or when they're going very, very bad.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: Pray in all the moments in between.
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: Pray in the on the mountaintop in the valley and midway up the mountain and a quarter of the mountain.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: And don't even think about the mountain.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: Just pray all the time.
- 45:37SPEAKER_01: Inside the mountain.
- 45:39SPEAKER_04: Don't even think about the mountain.
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: Again, I'll I'll say it.
- 45:43SPEAKER_01: I really like how we were talking about it where make it a daily conversation.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: If you haven't thought about it like that, that'll be like game-changing for your prayer life.
- 45:52SPEAKER_01: Knowing that you don't have to put God in a box at the end of the day or the beginning of the day, or in certain prayer times that you that you pull out of your schedule.
- 46:00SPEAKER_01: You can just it can just be a constant conversation.
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: Sure, you you may not say anything for like an hour, but you can still pick up on that.
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: I think it was um TF Tinny, where I'm gonna butcher the saying exactly, but it was something along the lines of I rarely pray for an hour straight.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: But it's rare that I go an hour straight without praying.
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: That's good.
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: And that's kind of the mindset that we should adopt.
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: That your prayer time doesn't have to be a a time that you set aside at the end of the day and you pray for 30 minutes and get it all done there.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: It's it can just be short little 30-second increments, but it's a constant conversation throughout the day.
- 46:40SPEAKER_01: And you never let's God leave your mind and and leave your peripheral.
- 46:45SPEAKER_01: And that's I feel like that's how it should be.
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: Because you know, it makes it more relational.
- 46:50SPEAKER_01: Better that way.
- 46:51SPEAKER_01: Again, if you if you haven't tried with that in mind, mess with that idea of making your prayer life with God relational, a constant conversation.
- 46:59SPEAKER_01: I'd I'd encourage you to do that.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: It can it can really change things.
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: And for James, I'll just say again, know that it's it's not an I thing, it's a team thing.
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: We're all part of a body.
- 47:13SPEAKER_01: Um, whether it's you struggling and you need to reach out to people, or if it's someone you know that may be walking away, reach out to them.
- 47:20SPEAKER_01: It's not all about me, it's not all about you.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: It's it's about all of us as a whole.
- 47:25SPEAKER_01: And you know, we gotta look out for each other.
- 47:29SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you guys so much for listening.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: We hope you enjoyed what we brought to the table this week.
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: We do need to start posting on our Instagram.
- 47:38SPEAKER_00: Maybe one day we'll start doing that.
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: We'll post a note.
- 47:41SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: We'll post a note.
- 47:43SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: If you like the note, you'll get a shout-out.
- 47:46SPEAKER_00: Ooh, I like that.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: Okay, we're gonna do it.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: Anyway, um, so yeah, that's just fine.
- 47:51SPEAKER_00: If you're not following us on Instagram, don't follow us.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: I think we're just gonna call it.
- 47:57SPEAKER_00: Okay, guys.
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: Talk to y'all next Thursday.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: Bye.
